Read complaints for HYUNDAI SANTA FE (2014)

Exactly 2,000 miles after my 60,000 mile warranty expired, my car experienced a failure of the air bag control module which also impacted steering, yaw/stability and other vehicle safety features.the warning lights came on while i was starting the vehicle but i encountered no issues when driving it 25 minutes to a dealership to have it checked out (fortunately).it took from 2 pm april 4 to 4 pm april 6 to get the necessary repairs done (the part had to be special ordered).it was not covered by either the expired 60,000 mile warranty or the extra ($1,500) 100,000 mile warranty (i was told that that warranty did not cover safety issues).

I was driving east to an ave, but another driver hit me on the passenger side. When the driver hit my car we spinned half way. The passenger sitting on the passenger side got hurt on her arm. The accident was sort of big. The car door on passenger side and the door behind the passenger was dented in. Getting hit that hard should have deployed the airbag and the hyundai emergency calling system. However none of them were working when the car was hit. According to hyundai they have more airbags than any other companies but even though they have more, the airbag didnt deploy which made the passengers arm get hurt. Also the drivers knee got hurt even though there was a so called "airbag." hyundai santa fe did not do what is meant for its safety.

The controls on the steering wheel have completely stopped working. According to my research it appears the clock spring in the steering wheel has gone bad. Hyundai has extended the warranty for other models with clock spring issues (see attachment)but not the 2014 hyundai santa fe sport to date. A bad clock spring could affect the air bag including possibly deploying in an accident. This is definitely a safety issue. At the beginning of the clock spring going bad, the controls on the steering wheel would work with the steering wheel turned all the way in either direction. Now, they don't work at all. Since the clock spring could cause a serious safety issue the 2014 model should be included in their extended warranty or recall....or shall they wait to see how many people get hurt or possibly killed first. I contacted hyundai and their consumer affairs representative told me there is no extended warranty or recall for my model car. I told her i was going to report it nhtsa and she said i should because that is how these things get taken care of.....sad that a company will wait on such a safety issue.

My airbag light has been on in my vehicle.i took it to the dealer today, and they diagnosed it as a clock spring problem.they said my airbag is not safe (may not deploy).they said there is no active recall, but i did a little research and found out the older santa fe, veracruz, sonata and elantra all have recalls for this exact same problem.it is clearly a hyundai problem and they need to issue a recall for the later model vehicles (mine is a 2014).

Takata recallvery low quality of material used for the rubber hose that connects the coolant . My santa fe's rubber hose deteriorated which caused a leak. Without any warnings or changes in the temp gauge, i drove the car normally until one morning i was on the parkway and each time i would accelerate the engine would have a hard time, it felt like i am dragging. Finally got to my destination half an hr later and the engine overheated. Drove it next block over to a gas station popped the trunk open and the coolant was completely empty even though i just topped it off few days ago. Turned off my car to run in and get a bottle of coolant. Tried starting the car and it stalled. I waited about an hr and a half at the parking lot sitting and waiting and it finally started back up.electrical issue:a couple of days ago, i was driving in my 2014 santa fe sport and the radio suddenly shut off thinking i pressed a button by accident. After a couple of minutes it turned back on. It was randomly doing it until two days ago it finally stopped working. I made an appointment with a hyundai service agent. Vehicle at 40,000 miles apprarently it is not under warranty (36,000mi) ofcourse, for them to diagnose the problem they charge you about $140 after tax just to diagnose it. How much to fix the radio? agent said, "it will be about $1700 but since the lease is up i can put you in a brand new tucson and i will fix the radio free of charge and credit you back for the diagnostics charge". I walked out of the dealership.andairbag light keeps coming on pas side.

Before 50,000 miles had to purchase 4 new tires 1 blowout a&unusual vibrating from tires 4 new tires before 50,000 miles!i'm a widow of a veteran&lost my only son!a/c went out 2 years ago! i'm a disabled nurse&purchased 4 santa fe's,tucson&sonta never ever will i buy any hyundai's from any dealership bye bye hyundai!!!

Driving in the far left lane on the interstate at roughly 55 mph i attempted to avoid a drifting car as i corrected the steering wheel and accelerator failed to respond. As a result i struck a vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the interstate. The airbags in the other vehicle deployed. The airbags in my vehicle didnot deploy. The front end collision was badenough that the suv was declared a total loss. The adjuster also found that the firewall had splitand appeared to be faulty. Due to the airbags not deploying during the collision i suffered a concussion and various other injuries as well as loss of hours at work, loss of pay, medical bills and expenses in addition to owning money on my car loan as the insurance did not cover the cost of the loan.

The contact owned a 2013 volkswagen passat. While driving 20 mph on a four way lane going north, the contact's vehicle was struck on the passenger side by another vehicle. The impact caused the contact's vehicle to cross into the south bound lane where it crashed into another vehicle from the driver side front end to the driver's side. The air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v078000 (air bags). A police report was filed. The contact sustained a fractured nose that required surgery, cuts to the right and left hands, and a burning sensation to his feet that has yet to be diagnosed. The vehicle was towed to a collision center and was deemed destroyed by the insurance company. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but no additional information was provided. The failure mileage was 112,000.

The electrical prompts on the face of the steering wheel begin to malfunction.first the volume control stopped, next the hands mobile phone controls. Then the cruise control functions and the menu for user settings stopped as well as airbags. When turning calls are dropped , all functions are inoperablewhether car is in motion or stationary.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the back over prevention camera malfunctioned while the vehicle was in reverse. The vehicle was taken to circle hyundai (641 shrewsbury ave., shrewsbury, nj 07702, (732) 758-0111) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the back over prevention camera needed to be replaced. The contact was concerned that water may have entered the camera housing and caused an electrical short circuit of the electrical components. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the warranty coverage was expired. The failure mileage was 50,000.

Recently brought up a hyundai sante fe 2.0t and now shortly after purchasing the rear view/back camera no longer works. Just a black screen when put into reverse. I see it's a extremely common problem post on forums all over the web. It's not a necessity but could be hazardous given the moment it decides to quit.

It was indicated by a letter from hyundai motor america that the brake system on this car can possibly react to a electrical short in the anti-lock brake system, causing a fire within the engine compartment. Therefore a recall was initiated, but a solution for repair, for the past 4 months, is not yetavailable. It is my opinion that a car with this condition is not safe to drive and therefore hyundai should furnish a loner car for the period it takes to make a safety repair or replace the car. The consumer referenced recall 21v-303. The consumer inquired about the purpose of the recall.

Blind spot detection stop working while driving and the driver screen said bsd canceled. I parked the car stop the engine and after restarting the bsd started to working again.

The vehicle is in excellent condition with all maintenance complete. Starting intermittently at approximately 40,000 miles, and now consistently since 49,000 miles, 3 warning lights illuminate on the dash simultaneously; 1: abs warning light, 2: tcs warning light, 3: hill assist warning light. Reading the codes with a code scan tool indicates the right rear wheel speed sensor has a short circuit, an open circuit, or has failed, or the wire connector has failed.if the abs or tcs systems are not functioning, there is a higher risk of crash.this is a very common problem according to simple google searches, and affected vehicles should be recalled and repaired.

Driving and power steering went out, dash panel lights went haywire. I could barely turn the steering wheel to get the car off of the road. I am not at all sure my wife could have turned the wheel. Attempted to jump-start the car - not work.first time driving at 35 mph in a subdivision in al. Pulled over, would not start, towed to dealer who recharged battery and entire electrical system checked' said it was 'fixed'. Tried to jump-start the car and this did not work. Few weeks later exact same thing happened in ky. I was doing 63 mph on highway with 50 cubic yard coal trucks coming by. If happened to my wife i am very concerned as to a rather bad accident. Auto transmission locked up and could not get it out of gear. Tow people 'jimmied' the shift to load on the tow truck. Vehicle towed to another dealer where battery replaced and entire electrical system checked ' said it was 'fixed'. We bought the car new and have had three batteries in 2 years and 4 months. I do not let my wife drive the car except around town. I feel this is truly an accident waiting to happen.do not know what caused the issue and apparently hyundai does not know either.

Car will not start in the morning, dead battery, have to use battery charger every night. Car emits white smoke.when on freeway car will not go above 60mph, seems like it is in limp mode.

The engine started knocking like a rod maybe . It was sitting over night no previous issues and when i started it that was the noise it was making . Just bought the car in july of 2020

On 10/18/2014 while shifting into reverse extreme loud noise in front of hood on driver side, navigation system goes black simultaneously.cochran advised safe to drive cannot service car until 10/29/2014. Saturday 10/25/2014 while in park with engine off and no one in auto it rolls back causing over 6000.00 in damages.after 15 months, hyundai expert mechanics insist auto is mechanically safe but cannot explain the loud noise this is the second filing on this car.

My head lights flickers off driving. When i barely move the head light controller, it usually turns back on.

I just bought this vehicle two weeks ago and i purchased the carfax to find out that the liftgate has electrical promblems. The display behind the steering wheel keeps indicating that the liftgate is open, but i can see that it's closed.

11/21/2020 around 12 pm we were pulling out on to the highway in heavy saturday traffic in between roswell and norcross.as we were accelerating to get onto the road the engine seized and we couldn't get the car to respond. The pedal was being pushed to the floor and the car wouldn't respond.there were no dashboard warning lights or any loud engine noises to say there was an issue. No smoke or steam. We were able to direct the car onto a side street but the car stopped in the middle of the side street.the car electronics started going crazy, the navigation screen and interior lights kept turning themselves on and off like it was a computer rebooting.we smelled something burning so i turned the car off and we got out of the car..i let the car rest for a few minutes and tried to turn it back on so we could get it in to a safer position and get help but the car wouldn't restart.we even tried using the battery jumper box to try to get it restarted but it wouldn't respond.had the car towed to the dealership.this car has a theta gdi engine that is currently part of a recall but when i look up my vin the recall doesn't show up.

I have a 2014 hyundai santa fe. On 5/27 while i was driving the car with my 3 year old inside the car it stalled. The stall happened immediately after i completed a left turn and was going 10 mph and under. It started with me not feeling any acceleration as i pushed down on the gas pedal. Subsequently there were multiple emergency indicators that got activated. The engine did not start and i could not change gears either. The ac and stereo system were running as i tried to start on the ignition but the indicator showed that the battery was discharged along with other malfunction indicators like engine oil, blind side detector, awd lock etc. I had the car towed to my house and later to the service center today. The service center confirmed they could not find any fault and after consultation with hyundai are going forward to replace the pcm/ecm. I'm really concerned now that this can recur under much more difficult road conditions.

Hyundai and other mfg are using edible coating on wiring harness and creating a hazard for fire and loss of control because rodents are eating the wire my santa fe wiring was eaten and i lost my whole electrical entertainment sysrem.deallers know about problem and has been for years but does nothing . Hyundai santa fe sport. Can start/stop engine in various gear including reverse.purchased april 10, 2014. After driving my new hyundai for a week or so, decided to wash it. My habit is to wipe out the hatch and under the hood. Upon opening the hood discovered no coolant in reservoir. Evident there never was any from the factory. Month later replaced back-up camera. 5 months later shifted to reverse navigation system went totally black. Couldn't get service appointment until week and half later. One week to date, after navigation blacked-out while in park and no one inside auto drifted back. Vehicle was damaged. Found hyundai santa fe can start or stop in various gear including reverse which is dangerous. I could never feel safe driving the auto again. Filed complaint with hyundai motor america eating for resolution.

Randomly, and lately more frequently, the car will not start thus stranding my wife and 18-month old son in 96 degree georgia summer heat.i have searched the forums and this issue is quite common from this brand car.something between the push button start and the brake pedal sensor is not functioning properly leaving the motorist stranded.some time later, 5-10 minutes, the car starts as if nothing was wrong.this happens on a weekly basis now for my wife.it is not safe.the dealership replaced the car battery the first time will no effect.now we have to take it in again.

This is not a safety issue but rather a design issue that could lead to problems starting the vehicle. The key fob is designed such that a very slight amount of pressure on a button can remove the entire electronic portion of the key inadvertently. If this is done on accident and the electronic portion of the key cannot be found then the car will not start. Contrary to most key fob designs, where the metal key (valet) portion flips out from the body or has to be removed using some force, the key fob on the new santa fe will detach without almost any force. I have already lost a fob at a cost of $280 to me and the key has become detached multiple times in pockets and around the house without hardly any force. I believe this is a design issue and consumer protection issue that needs to be addressed. It seems hyundai designed this part for the sole goal of increasing replacement key fob sales.

Our vehicle had the turbo fail . After replacing the turbo, the engine died upon test drive. They replaced the engine and gave us the vehicle back. The next day it would not crank. Dealership jumped the vehicle off. The next day it would not start again . This time they had to tow it . It has been in and out of the dealership for 4 months and towed 3 times . Each time the vehicle would not crank with 48hrs of getting the car returned to us. They blames security system, key fob, brake switch , grounding, and now the starter. Each time they stated it was fixed and then we had the issue happen again . I filed a safety concern with hyundai but they refused to address our concern. They said they were told by palmer's hyundai that the vehicle was fine. I explained i was concerned of my families safety of the vehicle died while turning or on the interstate. There are multiple reports of this online for the vehicle. They stated i can take it up with the dealership but they couldn't help with anything. They said if it failed in traffic and someone was hurt , then i could call back and they would address it then . I own 4 hyundai vehicles and have had another previously . It is very sad to be treated like this when you are a lifelong customer

The failure mileage was approximately93,000.

Engine ''2014 hyundai santa fe limited. 3.3l 6 cyl fwd. I own this vehicle. I recently read about the class action suits against kia and hyundai regarding engine failures and fires. Https://www.ncconsumer.org/news-articles/settlement-reached-with-hyundai-kia-in-class-action-lawsuit-alleging-engine-damage-fires.html. I have filed a complaint about our 2017 kia soul that has an engine failure. When reading this article i noticed under the new defect investigations paragraph that 2011-2014 hyundai santa fe's have also been listed for possible problems. However, it does not list or further define if it is only for the 2.0 l motors and may not include the 3.3 l. Our hyundai santa fe had an issue in the past. It took the dealer a month to define and repair. It was completed under the mfg. Warranty and i believe finally a recall. The fuel line would collapse when you depressed the fuel pedal starving the engine of fuel. This caused a loss in power and forward momentum that became unsafe to drive. At this time, it is starting to do the same thing. After reading this article, i am concerned about a possible engine failure in the future now that my warranty has expired with the manufacturer. I would like to have my vehicle included in any future recalls (there is not one now) that may involve this specific motor and vehicle. Also, i have had problems with the sunroof, the entertainment electronics, and ac/heating electrical cab controls. Many error messages are written in the hyundai language. The dealer stated they needed to change out the onboard computer for a list price of $2,600.00. The second-row seat heaters have failed after the warranty and have hardly ever been used. Dealer wanted over $600 plus labor to replace each seat.

Battery only five months old and something is bringing the battery down. Alternator has been checked as well as several other things including the battery. Nothing can be foundthat could bringingthe battery down.vehicle hadn't been started in 24 hours when this happened twice

While driving at 7:30pm on a back road on a saturday, both of my headlights went out at the same time. I pulled onto a dirt driveway and turned my car off and noticed they came back on. I had to have it towed back home and took it to the dealership on monday. They replaced a fuse box, and i picked my car up. About a week and a half later, it happened again while i was driving at night. In addition this time, my seat warmers would come on for about 30 seconds, and then shut off. I took it back up to the same dealership where i bought it. They had it for 2 weeks. They just replaced the fuse and drove it over 20 miles trying to get it to go out again and couldn't. I picked my car back up. A day and a half later, both my headlights went out again during the middle of the day. I noticed this because it was raining and i couldn't get my wipers to work. I kept trying my wipers, and the only setting they would work on was the 3rd speed setting. I tried my lights and my seat warmers again, and no luck. I immediately took it back to the dealership, and they said their service department was closed already (3:00pm) and they couldn't do anything until monday, so i drove it home. Took it back up there on monday, explained that this was the 3rd time this has happened, and it needs to be fixed because it's a major safety hazard. They had it for a week or so and called me and said they replaced the fuse once again, and drove it over 215 miles and couldn't get the car to duplicate the issue. They said my car had them stumped. They told me they were confident it was going to be okay. I left, and less than 24 hours after i got the car, i was driving at 7:00pm and they went out again, this time an hour away from my house. I don't know what to do because this is a scary issue, and they can't seem to find the problem and fix it.

Vehicle spontaneously burned in a ski area parking lot in maine. Fire started at rear left (driver's side) of car.the car was driven approximately 15 minutes in the morning and parked for over 4 hours when local police and fire were notified of a car burning.by the time i returned to the car, the fire had been extinguished.although no cause of origin was determined, it appears the fire ignited from an electrical issue in the rear left.the back half of the vehicle was heavily damaged.much of my personal property was salvageable and any bags which burned/melted did so from the outside in, a further indication that the vehicle fire started with a vehicle issue.it was the first day the car experienced above freezing temps in about 3 weeks.i note that because there was a canada only recall of 2013 hyundai santa fes for risk of fire when salt grime enters the rear parking sensors (which my vehicle had) and short circuits - it appears the risk of fire due to this issue can occur when the vehicle is parked and off.fortunately, nobody was hurt and only my personal property was impacted - this could have been much worse if the car was parked in my house garage, a hotel garage, while driving, etc.a three year old car burning for no apparent reason, seems like a potential public safety risk, and shouldn't happen to a car of any age.happened in a small rural area - no fire dept report, police said they would write a report but i have not received.the car is considered a write-off by the insurance company.following is a link to the cdn recall info: http://www.autofocus.ca/news-events/latest-recalls/hyundai-recalls-13-700-suvs-for-fire-risk

Oil leak from valve cover gasket onto alternator causing complete electrical system failure. Vehicle very quickly lost all power including power steering and brakes, brake/hazard/indicator lights, and ignition while traveling at highway speed in heavy traffic. Extremely high severity potential harm from this failure mode, which was the subject of previous service campaigns for older hyundai vera cruz and santa fe with same 3.3l v6 engine platform. Unacceptable to have occurrence of this known design issue with later model production.

Driver's seat lurches forward and backwards at random times while driving. This happens regardless of speed, brake/ acceleration/ cruise control, type of road, direction or movement etc.often times while the car is parked or in motion, the seat will not move at all in any direction.also, the abs, traction control, and downhill light have all been turning on and off at random, and, while parked and without provocation, my speedometer needle began jumping.less important, the driver's seat a/c does not work consistently which leads me to believe this is an electrical malfunction, however, the multiple times i have taken this vehicle into the "service center", the mechanics said they could not recreate the problem and sent my broken car home, so the official reason is unknown. I am only 5'2" so this has caused me considerable problems with suddenly not being able to reach the pedals, and has almost resulted in numerous accidents.

Backup camera failed before, brake light failed and now blind spot detection failed with risk of accident - noted on road - i have noted brake light failure in other hyundai while on the road

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that after driving the vehicle at 55 mph, the vehicle was parked for a few hours. When the contact attempted to restart the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start up. The contact lifted the hood of the vehicle and noticed that there were ashes on the battery. The contact also stated that he noticed melted wiring around the abs system. The contact had the vehicle taken to the dealer who stated that the abs system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,755.

When making a left turn from a stop or rolling stop and you press hard on the acceleratorthe engine does not rev up and the hesitation of a second or two can leave you stranded in a lane of traffic.

Hi, i bought a hyundai santa fe 2014 on december last year and a few months ago it's started to have a problem with the bsd (blind spot detector). For some reason it's just stop working from a few hours and it's turn on again by itself.i can read in the dash screen the warning (bsd no working). I make an appointment with hyundai service center but they can't help me because the car don't give to them any code regarding this problem.for me this is a big issue because sometime works and sometimes not, this canlead me to an accident.typically this happen when the car is in motion.

When making a right or left turn from a stop into traffic and the suv hits a small patch of snow, pothole or bump in the street, the stability control will curtail the vehicle acceleration for a few seconds. This has caused a near miss rearend collision into my vehicle on three occasions. There is a button to shut the acceleration control feature off but it must be pushed each time you start the vehicle. My opinion is that the stability control sensor is far too sensitive and / or the computer software needs to be revised.

Steering locked up, difficult to turn. Warning steering light came on and brake warning light. Down hill warning light came on. It was a blessing that i was during only 30mph.

Error message flashed on dash display "bsd cancelled".then the display returned to normal for about 2 seconds, then the entire display returned to "bsd cancelled".this repeated until the ignition was shut off.at the same time the abs light and stability control lights came on.i left the car overnight.when the car started the next day all of the lights had extinguished.trying to get diagnosed at dealership at this time.car was in motion at the time about 1 mile from my home, traveling about 25 mph so i continued home and parked the vehicle.no accident.

While driving along the highway about 70-75 mph i started to hear a knocking sound, i began to slow down and the noise continued every time i accelerated.there were no dash lights displayed the entire time.all of a sudden i hear a bang and had complete engine failure.the oil was changed within the last three months and im pretty sure the engine block is cracked.the dealership is investigating and turns out that my car is under recall, so hopefully they will replace the engine at manufacturer cost.

The vehicle kept stalling on free way and locally.

Excessive oil consumption

On friday 4/26/19, i was driving along the highway and all of a sudden there was a jerking movement, all error lights came on to the dashboard, and lots of smoke out the back underneath the car. I immediately pulled over to the side of the highway and a gentleman saw what happened said to shut off the engine that there was fire. I got out and noticed all of the oil draining from the engine and liquid dripping and sparking upon reaching the ground. There was a bolt found on the flatbed tow truck which was determined to be a bolt for a piston rod that shot through the block and oil pan. There was a catastrophic failure to the engine.

My wife was traveling south on the florida turnpike @ 70 mph near west palm beach.our 7 year old granddaughter was in the back seat. The engine suddenly seized up and shut off.she barely had enough momentum to pull safely out of the traffic, but was unable to get all the way out of harms way. Could have been a disaster!!!!!the engine cannot be repaired.

Recall for 2014 hyundai santa re engine stalling.i checked to see if my car was part of this recall and it is.the manufacturer does not have a fix for the recall, which can increase the chance of a crash.

Oil level was checked and fine it is checked periodically it checked good.i was driving home saturday noticed a slight ticking stopped checked the oil not touching the stick so i put 2and a half quarts in it headed towards home about 45 min down the road it seems to have spun a bearing /blown the engine it's a loud knocking noise

I was driving my car on the freeway, luckily for me l had merged into the slow lane . Upon merging l tried to speed up to leave a safe space between myself & cars merging onto the freeway. When l tried to accelerate there was no response, my dash panel lite up with numerous icons & my engine had no power. L took the next offramp & coasted to a stop , l then put on my hazard lights & lifted the hood to show other cars l was in distress . L called aaa & was towed to the hyundai dealership in van nuys, california . L was notified that my engine had froze & since it was under warranty they would replace the motor. My car has been sitting at the dealership for almost 3 weeks now and they can't give me any idea of how long this will take to replace the motor. There last response to me was they haven't located a replacement motor at this time and to be patient. Well my patience is growing thin , they only respond when l call . Had l been in the fast lane l probably wouldn't be writing this now ( very dangerous situation ) please do something about this before someone else has the same experience and there is a fatality. Thanks for you help, all l can do now is sit and hope they resolve my situation, and that nobody else has to experience this. P.s l will be trading this car in as soon as its fixed l do not feel my family is safe in this car!

The car makes a scraping metal noise only when accelerating. Speed is not a factor. Happens each and everytime you accelerate. Hyundai replaced the crank position sensor wheel twice. Hyundai does not know what the problem is and have had my car for almost 2 months!

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v226000 (engine); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While the contact's wife was driving approximately 30-45 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. After the vehicle stalled, several warning indicators illuminated. The contact was unsure of which ones illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (jim price hyundai), but the failure could not be duplicated or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they would be in contact with the dealer. The manufacturer opened case number: 10142143. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

The engine started making a knocking noise on start up but would quickly quiet.after a week the noise increased to knocking on start up and until i shifted through gears 1-3.after a few days, while driving 50 mph on a rural but high speed road the power to the gas pedal stopped working and my speed decreased without my control.after pulling over i was only able to accelerate slowly, 5-10 mph.i pulled into a gas station and the battery light flickered twice then disappeared.i turned the vehicle off and back on and the power to the gas pedal was functioning as normal.the knocking sound was much worse after this incident.i took the vehicle to the dealer and have been quoted for a full engine replacement.regular oil changes have been completed during my ownership of the vehicle.the dealership indicated no oil leak but declared a low level of oil remaining.

Making rattling noise when starting and accelerating, metal shavings in oil filter at 131,000 miles with regular maintenance, now needs a new engine.

Vehicle blew a head gasket. Mechanic said rear bank head bolts were not torqued to spec. Was of the opinion it came off the assembly line that way. I never had it max to red level on overheating and was shocked that the engine was damaged. The vehicle began to sporadic temp spikes then back down before i could even pull off. This happened on residential streets, on the interstate, anywhere really. This happened one day, then would be fine for a week, then started it again. I was on my way home from church and the engine temp started acting sporadically. I would pull off and it would cool within a second or 2.i tried to make it home, but the engine temp gauge stopped cooling back down to quickly. I called aaa and had it towed to a mechanic. Blown head gasket. Almost $5,000 to fix.i have taken prestine care of this auto. My 2nd hyundai vehicle but now i'm looking at other brands. A little gun shy of hyundais now.

Previously reported to dealer that car often stalled or hesitated when accelerating after a stop or very slow forward motion. This has ended up in numerous hesitations and near accidents when entering into traffic. On friday, 1/29/16 while exiting from the 9th tier of a parking garage the hesitation happened on all 9 tiers as i rounded the corner to the next tier and began to accelerate. I have an appointment again with the dealer on 2/19/16 and will report further after that but suspect i will get the same message that they "could find nothing wrong".

As i was driving, the engine locked up in the middle of the road. This also caused the starter to go bad. Car is in the process of being fixed can upload report at a later date.

Engine burned oil faster than it should and was out of oil. Oil change april 20, 2021 and out of oil on july 28, 2021 and not due for oil change for another approx 1k miles. Our safety was at risk because i was driving the car and it died in the middle of the road without warning with 2 small kids in the car, iā€™m 7 months pregnant, and 95 degrees outside. Car towed to local auto repair service that does my routine car service needs.the car has not been inspected by anyone other than local auto repair shop at this time. Iā€™ve called dealership of where car was purchased. Iā€™ve also contacted hyundai and told that a case manager will contact me in the next 2 weeks.no warning lights were on until the car died while driving it.

The head gasket blew at ~91,000 miles. It had a dragging/sputtering sensation in idle and then began making a loud noise as i was driving. Dealer replaced the short block and said they rebuilt the rest of the engine because the long block (they admitted that the entire engine needed replacing) was on back order for 2 months. It was covered by the 100,000 warranty.as it stood, the short block took a month to get in. Four months and ~8,000 miles later, the car again had issues. Initially it was thought to be in the engine, and i was told i needed a new engine again. Then they said it was the cooling gasket. Finally they said the coolant system (which connects to the engine) was warped and also needed replacing. They claimed it was no longer under warranty but replaced it anyway in good will. I maintained it was connected to the earlier repair caused by the engine malfunction. On my receipt at pick-up, it said the cooling hoses were soft and would need replacing asap, but no one mentioned it to me nor offered to fix it (me paying or not). I read it several hours later after i'd left. I'm over 100,000 miles now and hearing new noises. I'm holding my breath until i can take it in to be checked.

I was driving to work on a city street m24 in oxford michigan two weeks ago and without one single warning light ever coming on the vehicle the car completely stalled and all lights came on and the engine has not ran since. Being told this will not be covered but the dealership where my vehicle is has 10 of the same known issue waiting for new engines.

First issue started when the car stalled 3 weeks ago coming off a highway exit ramp while waiting at light.car stalled a second time while sitting in traffic shortly after.then worked fine and had an oil change completed at the dealer on 8/2/19.on 8/11/19, car would not accelerate normally after proceeding from a red light on a state highway, check engine light came on and shortly after engine started making knocking noises that became louder after a few miles.requested a tow truck to tow car to the dealership after noises and acceleration became extremely bad.car dealer found metal shavings in oil pan and metal build up inside the engine.long engine block replaced under power train warranty at 95,014 miles.

It has been determined that the engine is no longer functional at only 106k miles after my car has been given very regular and routine oil changes. The oil coated the bearings and it burned up the internal workings of the engine according to the mechanic, resulting in engine seizures. The vehicle was in motion, however it had been slowly deteriorating prior to complete seizure.

Engine seized without warning due to a manufacturing defect.

Car will not start in the morning, dead battery, have to use battery charger every night. Car emits white smoke.when on freeway car will not go above 60mph, seems like it is in limp mode.

While driving on the highway at about 75mph, in the left lane, with the cruise control engaged, my 2014 hyundai sante fe (3.5l v6, 94k miles and very well maintained) started to make a quiet ticking noise. The vehicle had been on the highway for about 40 minutes since the last stop. About one minute after the ticking began, boom! huge explosion. Catastrophic engine failure. The engine evidently seized, threw a rod through the block, punctured the oil pan spraying oil everywhere and igniting. Parts were flying out from the behind the vehicle and heavy white smoke was billowing. Luckily i was near an exit ramp and the motorists around me we kind enough to let me over to coast off the ramp. One lady followed me and pulled alongside my vehicle to urgently inform me that my car was on fire. I immediately pulled over and parked the vehicle and me, my wife, and my daughter jumped out. Flames were visible from underneath the car. My wife and another motorist called 911 for fire support. Three gentleman, one in a semi, two in an suv,had parked on the highway and ran over to our location with a fire extinguisher (about 200 yds). By the time they got there the fire had gone out. The fire department arrived shortly after that and checked the vehicle with an thermo scanner to make sure the fire was out. The incident was terrifying and extremely dangerous.

Was driving my 2014 hyundai santa fe when out of no where it started knocking loudly, took it to a mechanic and they said i needed a new motor it had 146k on it. Replaced the motor with abrand new motor with only 7 miles on it 2 weeks later the same thing happened, knocking noise and motor seizing up. It's my understanding that the hyundai manufacturer should replace the 2014 sante fe like they did the sonota's and sante fe sports cause this vehicle has the same problems!

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While the vehicle was at stop sign, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to accelerate. In addition, when the accelerator pedal was depressed with force, the vehicle was able to ease to 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine was knocking and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called taylor hyundai (3233 washington rd, augusta, ga 30907, (706) 868-1200) and was informed that there were no recalls. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

During my scheduled oil change on january 16,2021 i've learned that car engine burns oil. According to technician, instead of 5 quarts only 1.5 was drained plus he showed me soot deposits on exhaust pipe, which is indicative of oil burning. He mentioned that this condition is potentially dangerous, because when engine is out of oil damage an occur. Car does not have a lot of mileage on it, so im wondering why given issue exists and if there are any recalls regarding it. Thank you!

I pulled out in my vehicle from a cross-street onto a busy main highway and after about 15 or 20 yards, the car engine suddenly shut down without any previous warning or signs. I towed to hyundai dealer service department and described what happened. Only knowing the model and year, they indicated that it was likely caused by the same issue as dozens of vehicles they had on the lot or already fixed. This is a severe safety issue known by hyundai, the government (via existing class action lawsuit settlement), yet the owners of these vehicles have not been notified or provided a safety recall. I was at great risk stalled in the middle of a busy highway until a sheriff deputy passing by assisted.

The cooling part isn't working it's just warm

Automatic gear not shifting properly when accelerating after coming to a complete loss stop. I had the same problem last year 2019 in the month of february. I took it to the hyundai on jefferson ave ( newport news / virginia). They found that it was an engine default for most of the 2014 model. The engine was replaced and not even a year i had the same problem again.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai sante fe. The contact stated that while driving, the engine stalled without warning. The contact called the local garden grove dealer located at 9898 trask ave, garden grove, ca 92844 and phone number: 714-786-6310 where it was informed that the recall remedy parts were on back order. Parts distribution disconnect.

The hyundai sonata engines have been recalled for safety concerns because they can stall at any time. The santa fe sports have the same engines but have not been recalled. Mine did just this. Luckily i was on a quiet road with no one behind me.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While driving 65 mph, the contact heard a knocking and pinging noise. The contact pulled over, turned off the vehicle, restarted it, and the noises continued while driving 65 mph. The vehicle lost power and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to rockland hyundai (55 ny-303, west nyack, ny 10994,(845) 402-8623) where metal shavings were found in the oil pan. The dealer stated that there was no recall, but were reviewing all maintenance records to see if they would repair the vehicle via the current warranty. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 78,000.

When making a left turn from a stop or rolling stop and you press hard on the acceleratorthe engine does not rev up and the hesitation of a second or two can leave you stranded in a lane of traffic.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While operating the vehicle, a knocking noise was heard coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to suburban hyundai (1814 maple lawn, troy, michigan) where it was diagnosed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition the contact stated that the gear shifter became stuck and was very difficult to switch from the park position. The failure would normally occur when the vehicle was not driven for several days. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Rod bearing went out in the engine at 81,123 miles.the vehicles was in motion and went into slow power mode.however, my feeling is the damage to the motor was already done before there were any signs of trouble.

At approximately 83,000 miles the engine seized with virtually no warning while it was in motion on a city street. Vehical was delivered to hyundai dealership for repair

My car engine check light went on over the past months more than 7 times, everytime the dealer tells me that they couldnt find anything wrong with the car, i beleive that they failed to fix the car and today i received a recall notice from hyundai stating that they found a defect related to the engine. Today the check engine light went on again.

Vehicle began making a noise out of nowhere, no light indications, nothing.suddenly the engine died on the interstate, again, no light indications until the vehicle actually stopped running.vehicle was towed to local shop, found out it had absolutely no oil in it, but there was no oil leak.engine had broken and told we needed a new engine.hyundai then told us that they no longer make the 2014 engine, so a replacement would cost $11,000 and have 96,000 miles on it.our santa fe had 73,000 miles on it when this occurred.sudden engine failure with no indication of an issue, while traveling at a high rate of speed on the interstate could have produce a horrible, if not fatal accident.

The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

I get regular oil changes on my car and have receipts of my last 2 oil changes, but there was no oil in my car and the bearings were dry and rubbing which cause metal shavings to go into my engine. Vehicle was making a noise when i pulled into a hyundai dealership and they diagnosed it.

Engine started knocking. Took in to dealership. Low 4 quarts of oil. No check engine lights came on. No oil light came on. No change oil soon light came on. Which caused metal shavings in oil filter when looked at by a mechanic. Vehicle was being driven on city street that the noises started. Bought car 5000 miles ago.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While driving 30 mph, a knocking noise was heard underneath the front of the vehicle. In addition, when driving at a low speed, the vehicle would jerk. The car is a 2014 santa fe and out of the blue i started to hear a strange noise from my engine area. Multiple dealerships confirmed that it was the engine that needed to be replaced. One dealership assured me that it would be covered due to a recent recall on santa fe engines but come to find out the recall was for a different engine type and not mine. While researching online i have seen several complaints of engine failure for the same type of engine that my santa fe has. The car isn't safe to drive at all and when i contacted hyundai about offering some sort of assistance and to cover the costs of the engine, they refused to do so. There should be a recall and the 3.3 engines as well. I have had several cars before and never have i ever had an engine fail me.

Started car and engine light came on.started driving car and it hesitated eventually it would accelerate.when getting onto freeway and tried to accelerate it was slow to do so but eventually would.thiskept reoccurring.no noises or other issues.brought car in same day i first noticed this happening and had code of p1326.

I purchased this vehicle in 2016 and received free oil changes through the dealership i purchased it from. I noticed that in between the recommended 7500 mile oil changes that i had to add oil or get another oil change prior to the recommended time frame as it seemed to burn oil. I took it to a shop about 1 1/2 years ago but they couldn't find anything wrong and no lights on the dash were on. Just a few weeks ago i noticed a burning smell and checked the oil again and it was low so i added 4 quarts. I then noticed a knocking sound the next time i drove it and took it right to a shop down the street. They said if was a bad bearing and that i needed a new engine! it has 130,000 miles and the only problem i have had is this oil/engine issue. I owe $7000 and an engine will cost $5000 plus labor. Why are the engines failing on the 2014 sante fe's??? i would definitely like answers.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While driving and approaching a stop light and while depressing the brake pedal to come to a stop, the vehicle shook violently and stalled without warning. The failure recurred four times when coming to a stop. After each failure, the vehicle was taken to universal hyundai (12801 s orange blossom trail, orlando, fl 32837, (321) 418-6386), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

I just want to complain about the delay on the remedy for the recall of the engine block.they said it was going to be ready in may, it is now may 31st and nothing has happened.i am trusting this vehicle to drive me to work there and back over 60 miles.i am also trusting this as a safe car to drive my family and friends in.this issue needs to be addressed asap.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact received a notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v226000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer, suntrup hyundai, was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer did not know when the parts would arrive. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

While driving home, my vehicle began to make clunking noises, while in the process of exiting the highway, for safety reasons, the car cut offon the exit ramp. Before attempting to restart the vehicle; a passerby shouted that the vehicle was on fire. Upon exiting the vehicle the police were on the scene and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was then towed to a local body shop to await a tow to my place of residence.

I was made aware of a safety recall for my 2014 santa fe sport.i am shocked and concerned that this recall has remained unresolved for as long as it has.i am also extremely concerned for my safety.i drive for business and hyundai is playing the lottery with my life and others who have no choice but to drive these unsafe vehicles.where is hyundai on a fix?

Very noticeable engine ticking when running. But when you rev motor a little, it stops. This happens in park. But when driving, i don't notice the ticking. This started about 2 weeks after i bought it.

Car loses pressure car down shifts very hard and jerks non stop while driving

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While attempting to accelerate from an idle position, the vehicle suddenly hesitated and nearly stalled before operating normally. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000.

While driving the vehicle at highway speed approx. 60mph engine began to make a knocking sound in the engine bay. Had the vehicle towed to the nearest hyundai dealer and began filing a complaint to hyundai usa. After 2 weeks of the vehicle sitting there and no word back i called the dealer to find out if it had been diagnosed. No one had looked at it! next day we got a call stating motor was blown up and a cost to repair would be $15,720!!!!! this vehicle was and has been very well maintained with regular oil changes etc. ( verified by dealer oil level was good ) oil light was not on nor did any warning lights illuminate during any of this. This is our second hyundai that we have owned with an engine failure ( last vehicle had been recalled for engine. )and this will be our last hyundai.

My 2014 santa fe sport began shaking violently at 72 mph. I took it to a shop thinking the wheels had become unbalanced. Immediately the vehicle began shaking again. I again took it for re-balancing. Same shaking problem. I took it a third time to an auto repair shop who found that the calipers were so hot they were about to burn. You could feel and smell the heat. The shop replaced the calipers thinking the shaking was a braking issue since every time i applied the brakes, the vehicle would shake even worse. The caliper replacement did not fix the issue. Finally after replacing the brake pads, calipers, and rotors, the shop did another road test. Then the car not only shook but the engine started knocking due to tie rod failure. The vehicle continued to be dangerous to drive, so the shop had it towed to hyundai for an engine replacement under a tsb. Hyundai replaced the engine but would not take responsibility for the caliper and braking issues, which ended up being directly related to the engine issue.

The vehicle stalled so frequently, either on free way and local.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the vehicle loss motive power. The contact stated that the abs and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed but was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact was awaiting a response. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The engine started knocking like a rod maybe . It was sitting over night no previous issues and when i started it that was the noise it was making . Just bought the car in july of 2020

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v226000 (engine and engine cooling). The part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The pistons started popping and then car wouldn't start anymore.hyundai wouldn't help with anything even thought there are less than 100,000 miles on the car because i am the second owner.there is a recall for this year but on 4 cylinder engine but mine is a 6 cylinder.i find it really hard to believe this is not related to their recall.

The contact owned a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While the contact's husband was driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle did not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road as smoke appeared from underneath the hood. The driver opened the hood and noticed flames in the core of the engine without warning. Another driver stopped to assist but both men were unable to extinguish the fire. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries. The police arrived and both fire and police reports were filed. The vehicle was totaled and towed to a tow yard. The contact called hudson hyundai at 866-710-6765 (located at 977 communipaw ave, jersey city, nj 07304) and was informed that there was no recall. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

Vehicle stalls while sitting idling waiting at stop lights problem is intermittent and unpredictable. Engine shutters while idling as well. Vehicle loses ability to accelerate when this occurs requiring the driver to put the vehicle in park, turn the engine off, then restart the vehicle. Safety hazard in busy traffic. Additional issues with slippage sounds from the axels when turning corners. Problem may be linked to other open recalls involving manufacturer reported machine errors during the manufacturing process that causes premature bearing wear within the engine. The noted safety risk on other vin numbered models within the same class is that it may cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. This vehichle was just purchased from carmax virginia three days ago. Issue was not obvious at the time of purchase. There were no open recalls for this vin number at the time sale was made, but issue is quite present at 50,000 miles and i have contacted carmax to inform them of the issue. This particular problem seems consistent with all models of hyundai manufactured around 2014. A national recall of the entire line should be considered to alert consumers and avoid unwanted purchases and or damaging accidents.

I'm in the last 2 weeks, as i was driving, 3 different times, it felt and sounded like the suv was going to die out.last week, when i came to a stop, the suv started shaking for less than 5 seconds.

The santa fe's engine seized while traveling on an interstate highway going ~65 mph. After the car was stopped on the side of the highway, oil leaking from the engine was visible on the ground. The santa fe's engine would not turn over/start. After towing and letting the car sit overnight at an auto shop, the cold engine would still not turn over/start when the mechanic tried. The trusted mechanic said the engine had seized and was useless.a recall was issued for hyundai's santa fe sport and sonata of the same year, 2013-2014 models. The recall is for machining errors during engine manufacturing. These errors can cause premature wear of the bearings leading to engine seizures.have other people experienced this defect in the 2014 santa fe?

Premature rod bearing failure. My rod bearing failed at 93k miles. I had correct oil level.

I purchased the car in aug. 2014 manufactured in ga july 2014.the car will unpredictably upon starting up lacks power it has been in and out of the shop with no fix. It will hardly go until you stop turn the engine off then restart it at which point it resets and regains its power as before. I am concerned this is very similar to the recalls that are occurring currently with this car but they stop recalls for the problem with those made 2012- may 2014, this car was made 2 months later and is having the same issue as those described in the recall for bearing damage.please look into this as the problem did not stop with the cars in may 2014.the dealership has no resolve for the issue and i am certain it is the bearing issue after having reviewed the problem/recall with the cars manufactured just months prior at the ga facility.it has exhibited this problem multiple times.

While on the interstate my car lost power!!it caused the speed to decline sharply from 70 mph to 15 mph!! it was taken to the garage the next day. A "recall" i never received on my 2014 hyundia santa fe. Said it was fixed.next time, i am in a remote are, again...no power. Called the hyundai garage, they told me a tow truck would pick it up - i needed to call the hyundai 800 number to set it up. I called, nope, they would not pick it up. Got it to the garage a second time. Supposedly fixed... Third time...happened again. Called the garage. Unbelievable. This time, i am telling them to keep this death trap and return my money. Never again am i crawling into that thing!!3 times within 3 weeks!!! serious safety issues and proven cases of many car fires. Hyundai is fully aware of this and have been avoiding a full recall over a year. Their customer service web site says "due to the overwhelming calls, more employees are answering the phones within one hour"...i was told to expect a call within 5 days.google it: fo4x, consumer reports, nhtsa, center for auto safety and congress are all involveded. A complete disgrace!!!

2014 sante fe limited.109,000 miles.original owner. Bought brand-new from dealership.done all the maintenance on time and as recommended by manufacturer.right before last oil change (which was only less than 500 miles over) knocking noise started.oil change done and nothing was reported as being a problem.knocking continued.drove to dealership and they said they could not look at the car until a week later.i said ok i will bring the car back and they said i should not drive car since it sounded like it was a bearing rod failure.later that week i was told that it was a "lower bearing failure" and that a new engine would be needed to which i was used for a used engine $11,292.49.this amount is a little more than the car is worth.i was told that the current recall for this same issue is only for the sante fe sport which is a the 4 cylinder engine and the limited is v6.i told the service department that this is the exact same thing as the other recall for the sport model and i don't understand why it isn't covered also for the v6.i called on 7/6 to hyundai corp to start a claim on getting the engine paid for.they said it could take up to 10 working days.on 7/22 (12th working day)i called in to hyundai corp and was told i should be getting a call the next day from the case manager.i received an email 7/23 that a case manager has not been assigned but should be shortly.i replied back to that email saying that is not acceptable.7/26 am called hyundai again and still no case manager.alert has been put on the case to get a case manager to look at it soon.sent a followup email documenting what was said.7/27am called hyunda again and still no case manager and nothing that department can do.i asked for a manager or someone at the national team contact info but hyundai would not provide it to me.sent a followup email documenting what was said. Thankful that i wasn't in an accident with my two young kids.

Hyuandi recalled santa fe 2.4l engines. Ignoring and refuses to acknowledge many 3.3l santa feā€™s same engine failures as they have had lawsuits over. Iā€™m reaching out again demanding investigations every failed engine reported. Denying accountability for the safety of their customers! my engine blew driving oni-40 interstate. I was accelerating to pass a vehicle. During my attempted acceleration i lost all petal pressure and my foot went to the floor. The rpmā€™s spiked up 5-6k. The oil pressure escalated rapidly. My car seemingly stalled out. Losing ability to keep moving. What looked like steam coming out of the passenger side front wheel well. Assumed that was from a liquid hitting the hot brakes. After sitting for a few moments, i attempted to restart the vehicle. Turning it off & it never came back on. Following failure to start back up. I checked the oil level. Alarmingly- it was completely dry. While inspecting the car on the side of the busiest highway! there was no large apparent leaks, where the oil wouldā€™ve run out. This is a direct display of the motor burning the oil over time. The hyuandi dealership is responsible for the maintenance and my cars inability to run. As the oilā€™s mysterious disappearance is from a malfunction in the engine. The reason my car ran out of oil. Months prior to its mysterious disappearance the oil was changed & no concerns of malfunction or failure to run, weā€™re reported after my maintenance by the same dealership who blames me. Denying the truth. Blaming me for ā€œlack of servicingā€¯ the vehicle they serviced and was not due of one. Hyuandiā€™s ignoring their engine problem. Putting their customers and many other drivers lives at risk. And iā€™m highly disappointed in the service from both hyuandi, all dealerships, and the refusal to acknowledge their responsibility for me no longer having a running vehicle. Not offering a replacement engine. Expecting me to drop $6,000.00 which is half the price of my cars value. I want answers!!!!!!!

Engine has around 89k miles. Began with a knocking noise and after taking it to the dealership we were advised it "needed a new engine." dealer was not specific as to what exactly the issue was, but i believe the same issue that affected the hyundai sonata and santa fe sport is also affecting this vehicle. Because we are the second owners, hyundai has refused to provide us any assistance. After picking it up from the hyundai dealership, we attempted to drive to another company's dealership to initiate a trade in. While driving on the interstate, the vehicle degraded in power and died on the busy roadway just off the interstate off ramp. My wife had to push the santa fe using my car to get it off the roadway to a gas station parking lot. The engine does now turn on, but anytime it is put in gear it dies. Engine is completely useless. We always perform routine regular maintenance on our cars and this vehicle has not been abused in any way. Was purchased in 2016 with roughly 45k miles on it.

While driving the vehicle around town, the engine suddenly started making a loud knocking noise.the mileage was at 63k miles.we stopped driving it immediately and took it to the dealer who services it for us (maple hill kalamazoo) and were informed the engine seized.the first thing they did was check the oil, which was full.they have done all of our service for us.they said there is something banging around inside the engine.in searching the internet i found there is a recall for the sonata engine (15v568000).the engine in our car is the same 4 cylinder engine as in the sonata.the service manager at maple hill contacted the hyundai factory rep who told him to take the engine apart and send him pictures.the service manager said i don't know what they are going to do, but i think they will work with you.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shut-off without warning. The contact had the vehicle towed to her residence and anticipated that her vehicle would be included in a class-action lawsuit. The contact then had the vehicle towed to the dealer. After inspection, the contact was informed that metal shavings were found in the engine. Due to the failure, the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that contact that there were no recalls on the vin. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer unrepaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Check engine light illuminated while traveling down the interstate, lost power to the gas pedal taking speed down to 30 mph. Managed to make it off of an exit and to the closest mechanic.the mechanic found metal fragments in the oil filter leading him to believe that there is a faulty engine.called hyundai of asheville and was told to bring it in.they diagnosed it as the cams locking up, meaning i need a new engine.

I was not notified of my car's entire engine recall, by mail, email, phone..nothing. I was on the busiest freeway (driving the speed limit...75mph) in the state, and my car's engine failed!! i was scared to death. I could have been killed. It was the most horrible auto experience in my life. I am now scared to drive and can't drive on freeways. The whole ordeal, towing, eventual motor replacement , having to drive back up to exchange rental cars, loaner vehicles, etc., has caused me some ptsd.i was told by the dealer in the town close to where the car motor failed, hyundai did not send out any recall notices.they did not want to be inundated with owners. Yes, the hyundai dealership many miles from my home eventually replaced the motor. However, hyundai did not make it easy for me . Ie., at first, no loaner car available (i had to get a rental car.) i have yet to be reimbursed for my towing and rental car expenses. When i flashback to this, i get upset. I can't afford to sell my car, but do not want to keep it either. Look into this. As i said, i could have been killed or seriously injured. Save others from dying or injury please.

This is a transmission problem shifting 1-2nd gear, as we slow down to enter our garage and wait for door to open, the car lurches forward with huge amount of force, almost as if we are hit from behind, then it goes into gear and proceeds.happens almost every day now.i read many consumer blogs saying this is an issue for the santa fe models.definitely a transmission issue.

Stopped at red light. Everything shut off, engine would not start or engage.no warning lights took it to the dealer, where they said it was major engine failure and they had to contact hyundai engineering.they could not tell what went wrong. Hyundai want to split the cost of repair because the car was not under warrenty.it now february, hyundai has not admitted that they have an engine problem. They have try to replace the engine twice ,only to have them fail. They now going to try a differnt engine type. It now time to replace car.i have an case # 16797233 with hyundai customer service, which has not been very helpful

Engine suddenly lost power while driving on the pacific coast highwayin ca in newport beach. I was able to pull to the side. When restarted the check engine light was on and the care wouldn't go faster than 2 mph. The car was towed and is now with glendale hyundai dealership who reported that the engine failed and they are speaking with the manufacturer re replacement under the powertrain warranty.same mechanical failure happened to my other hyundai santafe 2014 and required engine replacement about a year ago vin [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While driving approximately 40 mph, the emission control system warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle lost acceleration. Aconsiderable amount of smoke started emerging from the exhaust pipe. The contact continued driving to an independent mechanic who determined that the vehicle presented a timing default failure and it was using four cylinders instead of six. The contact also stated that the same failure occurred in march of 2017. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the gasket was faulty on top of the engine, causing the loss of engine oil and acceleration. The vehicle was repaired by replacing the gasket and changing the oil filter; however, the failure still occurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was19,000. Updated 06/23/ 17 *asthe consumer stated the manufacturer failed to promptly repair the vehicle under recall. The consumer request to reimbursed for the purchase of the vehicle.

Car completely shut off while driving on road.was maki g loud ticki g noise. Had it diagnosed.was told the engine is no good.destroyed engine. Is this under recall

My car is rod knocking. I took it up to hyundai and they comfirmed it. Ro 6034121. I had found a recall related to the 3.3 engine stateing that there could be prematurer bearing faliure. It stated an error in manfaturing up until may 2014. My car was manafatured by january 142014. I was delivering pizza on a saturday night when out of nowhere i started to hear it knock. After i had finished the delivery i went back to the stoor and called a mechanic to look at it and comfirmed it was knocking.service have all been kept up. I understand that my vehicle is not under the recalls bad batch list but it is haveing all the issues relatede to the recall. Hyundai has had my car for over a month and i have been waiting on comfermation and endded up being declined.

08/31/2019 traveled 60 miles on interstate hwy and stopped to go through a fast food drive-through, idling my vehicle for about 10-15 mins. My 2014 santa fe sport 2.0l turbo began to emit smoke from under the vehicle engine. I opened the hood and looking from the top toward the back part of the engine i could see the reflective insulation at the back part of the engine and smoke was drifting out of the bottom of the engine and there appeared to be an orange glow reflecting from the reflective insulation. No check engine lights were on and the car seemed to be running fine. I decided to return back to my home and stopped by the hyundai dealership on the way.service department was closed, but had one of the sales people take a look at the engine with me as i again opened the hood. This engine was no longer smoking. I brought the vehicle back to the dealership tuesday. The service department performed a recall service item with complimentary oil change and told me that a fire had happened on the skid panel underneath the engine. They claim that the fire was started from a large plastic zip tie that had fallen on the turbo engine manifold at the back of the engine and had dripped down to the skid pan catching and burning into the plastic pan. I do not understand how a zip tie could have just "happened" to have broken and fallen in just the exact spot to catch fire?i mentioned to the dealer that i had read online about recalls concerning engine fires on kia sorento and hyundai santa fe sport for my year model vehicle. Their comment was that those problems were only associated with the hyundai sonata. The service writer said he would not replace the burnt plastic skid panel and stated that this was just a fluke and the car was safe to drive. I still have many concerns as to how this could have happened and what other damage is there from the hot burning fire?

The engine ceased and failed while driving vehicle to work. The vehicle has been at the dealership since then and they continue to attempt to fix the vehicle. The vehicle'sshort block was allegedly replaced. The vehicle was taken for a test drive and the check engine line came on. The dealership advised that they had to take the engine apart to see what the problem was. As of today, the dealership has told us of at least 3 occasions while fixing the vehicle that the check engine line has come on. The problem appears similar to the issue with the 2014 hyundai santa fe sport. The vehicle is still not repaired and its been close to 60 days.

I was driving through a 4-way street intersection turning left when the vehicle began making a knocking sound from the engine, then stalled in the middle of the road. All lights on the dash illuminated. Upon getting the vehicle to restart, it would not go over 2000 rpms. The vehicle continued to make a loud low sounding knock from the engine. Being close to home, i was able to drive slowly, mostly in a shoulder, to my home.doing some research i discovered this model vehicle was subject to a recall due to failing connecting rod bearings. I called my local hyundai dealership to ask about the repair, in which i was told the repair would cost $4,000-$6,000 for an engine replacement.the recall covered vehicles up to 120,000 miles, my vehicle has 127,000. I was denied the recall.i then called around to local mechanics but none of them, not one, would attempt to replace the faulty connecting rod bearings.i decided to take on the repair myself which hyundai told me was impossible. I managed to remove the oil pan, oil pump, and finally the faulty connecting rod bearings which showed major scaring and damage. My oil pan was full of metal shavings.i contacted my local dealer, also hyundai corporate and after both looked up my vin number, neither could tell me what bearings were inside my engine. Their parts system comes back with 5 options for the bearings.frustratingly i contacted the local dealer again telling them i will bring the old bearings to them (riding public transportation) but they said they have no way of measuring the part or telling me which part they used. The dealer and corporate both, told me to tow my vehicle to a 3rd party mechanic to measure the bearings, then tow my car back home, then give hyundai the measurement to get a part number. Hyundai does not know what connecting rod bearings were used in the 2.4l engine!

There is a recall on the engine for 2014 santa fe recall # 162.. I was informed by hyundai mfg that my car needs to be inspected right away. My engine is vibrating and the engine light came on three times. I am at risk and very concerned. The dealer did absolutely nothing and advised that theres no remedy. The mfg however is saying there''s a remedy to replace the engine block. Very frustrating dealing with the dealer but gave car back to me. I would like to get to the bottom of this engine recall and what exactly is going to be done about it. I pray that i will be safe and my kids.

We purchased a used 2014 santa fe in may 2017 from our local carmax. At the time of sale, the vehicle had approximately 28,000 miles. It was noted at that time upon inspection in the 'engine' section that engine oil and filter had been repaired/replaced and oil leaks had been repaired/replaced. This was something we would not take serious note of until much later. On wednesday, may 22nd, i was on the freeway in rush hour traffic going about 45-50 mph when the engine suddenly died. It was still in drive and my radio was on so the dash lit up (i'm assuming to let me know i was in drive but the engine was off so something wasn't right). I put on my hazards and started navigating my way to the shoulder. I attempted to start the car and it would not turn over so i waited. Finally, it started up so i tried to get it off the freeway. The next exit was 3/4 of a mile. She would never make it. A $75 tow to a mechanic 1.7 miles away determined the engine was 'shot'. Our quote? $12k - $14k for a new engine (parts only). Our 5 year/50k warranty expired 1 month and 14 days ago. Slightly convenient. The vehicle currently has approximately 49,500 miles, 20,000 of which are ours in the past 2 years of ownership. We contacted the service department of a local hyundai dealership and were given a 'sorry. Too bad , warranty expired. Good luck bud'. It was incredibly disheartening and defeating. We've been told our extended warranty through carmax will not be honored either until we produce copies of our oil change receipts which we cannot locate at the moment (we are in the process of a move as well). So, we've paid out of pocket for the tow, the rental car, and every free moment spent trying to find receipts, making phone calls, or trying to find a resolution for everyone involved. It shouldn't be our burden to bear. It should be theirs!

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the vehicle suddenly lost power and there was a drastic reduction in speed to the point that the vehicle could stall. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v226000 (engine and engine cooling). The dealer (sacramento hyundai, 6250 florin rd, sacramento, ca 95823, 916-427-1234) indicated that they performed the recall repair, but the engine seized shortly afterwards. The vehicle was unable to be driven and the dealer refused to repair the vehicle again. The dealer also indicated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact explained to the dealer that the replacement part for the recall failed; therefore, she should not be responsible for replacing the engine. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was awaiting their response. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000. The vin was not available.

I was driving on the highway, after picking up my grandchildren from school (about 15 miles away), and started to speed up so i could pass a semi truck and my suv just went completely dead without warning. My accelerator stopped working and i lost power completely. It was a frightening experience, as i looked into the review mirror the semi truck was barrelling down upon us and i couldn't get the suv started back up. As my car was slowing down, i quickly put my emergency lights on and the semi truck had to swerve around us, blaring his horn. Thank goodness, no one was coming towards us in oncoming traffic, or this would have been a horrible accident. My car slowed down and i managed to pull off the shoulder, i tried starting it but it puttered and went out. I had no warning lights on -on my dash to let me know what was wrong. I waited and tried starting my car but same thing, it started but died out. I looked under the hood and couldn't find anything wrong. After about 15 minutes, i tried again and this time it started and we slowly drove home. I had a mechanic look at my car and he says i need a new engine.

I was driving along and out of nowher, heard a loud knocking noise from the engine. No engine lights were displayed. I took it to a mechanic and he said i needed a new engine. He thought it was strange to need a new engine at only 53k miles, so he said i should check with the dealer for any defects. We took it to the dealer and they confirmed the noise was caused by rod bearings being prematurely worn and it in fact needed a new engine. We had always taken it for regular oil changes and confirmed this with receipts. They said there was a recall of this engine problem of the same year and make but our suv was a limited and only the sport model was included in the recall. They said they would check with hyundai to see if they would cover it considering the recent issues with this model and year of car. They came back and said they would only cover a portion of it and wanted us to pay $3300. We are now checking with another dealer and have been without a car for over a week. It seems crazy that we would have to pay for a known manufacturing defect.

My 2014 santa fe went into "limp mode" and wouldn't travel more than 5 miles an hour. I was told that my engine had no oil and was part of a safety recall. After months of jumping through the hoops with a series of oil consumption tests, i was told that if i replaced a slightly drippy oil pan gasket (a leak so small that it never hit my concrete carport) that hyundai of cumming would send our paperwork to hyundai corporate for a recall of the engine. I never knew that the car completely-shutting-down while driving was a possibility. Apparently, the recalled engines do exactly that! they shut down while being driven with no warning! while driving, my santa fe completely shut-down. No power steering, no power brakes, nothing! no warning lights ever came on to alert me of a problem. The timing of this happening was convenient though as i was going away for 5 days. I dropped my car at the cumming ga dealership. I asked them to replace the oil pan seal and trouble shoot the stalling problem. 5 days they sat on my car. They did nothing. Turns out, they were waiting on the service-rep who did my repair estimate to return from vacation. They were going to wait 11 days without doing the work or talking to me. They said that they didn't do the work because my car did not qualify for the recall. Recall or no recall, i need my car fixed! after showing up in person, i was given a loaner car until they could diagnosis the engine & replace oil pan gasket. This was tues 9/15. They gave me the loaner car until fri. Called on fri, they hadn't found the stalling problem and said keep the loaner until 9/25. Was told today that they still have not replaced the oil pan gasket, but they want the loaner back. This is outrageous.i don't feel safe in this car. And despite being a paying customer, they still haven't done the work they said i need to have done for the recall.

There is a known issue with the gdi engines that is causing an oil consumption issue. Hyundai is aware and is not willing to cover the cost for what they say may fix the issue of the vehicle is out of warranty. It is affecting many vehicles and the dealerships are passing it off to hyundai and hyundai is stating it should be covered under engine warranty and it is not.

Was stopped at a red light, and when the light turned green and stepped on the gas, the car moved initially and then stopped accelerating. It sputtered along, slowly accelerating a little bit at a time. This happened for the rest of the ride home. The engine light also was flashing this entire time.

Driving down the expressway and car just kept getting slower and slower and i pulled off the expressway and it came to a stop and stalled out.none of the oil or heat lights came on while driving or when it stopped. Hyundai said the engine seized up.

Nhtsa recall number20v520000 - hyundai contacted us with a notice about the recall and the risk that our car may burst into flames while driving, however they are not offering to fix the issue. In the notice they simply say there is no solution, so please park your car outside away from your house in case it catches fire. I don't understand how it is acceptable to leave this issue unaddressed. I am looking into purchasing a new car because i don't feel safe putting my family in my current car. Hyundai did not offer any solutions at all, not to fix, replace, or repurchase the vehicle.

I purchased a new car, on feb.1, 2014. The malfunction lamp on the dashboard was lighted up in 1 month.my car was repaired from my dealership several times but the problems are not cleared yet.at last, the very serious problem was happened on apr. 19. I stepped down fully on the gas pedal on the highway, but my car was not changed in speed. The rpm and speed meter were not changed when i stepped on the pedal perfectly to the end.the staff in service center said that the problem came from the right and left side bolt of high-pressure pump.the right hand side bolt had come apart and left hand side bolt was loose.they didn't know that why this problem was happened.that's my all serious story!

Died driving home had it towed to hyundai got a call today and a bearing screwed up and caused the engine to lock up ...curious to know if it's just my luck or if there were other santa fails like mine...come to find out open recalls on 2014 santa fe sports but no such luck with the limited.

At highway speeds going through the mountains, the engine began to lose power and then began to shake.one or more cylinders began to misfire while climbing a hill with many other cars and trucks in the slower lane to avoid.the engine light was flickering and depending on the position of the accelerator would go on and off.the car began shaking rather violently, but i couldn't pull over so others needed to avoid me.i coasted down a hill and made it off an exit ramp.then engine had no power at this point and was still shaking.i checked the oil and found it had burned nearly 1 qt. In 100 miles.i noticed nearly all the oil was gone on the prior oil change and thought the mechanic had not put enough in.i now think there is something dangerously wrong with these engines consuming oil. The engine light has been coming on for a while and the dealerships or others i had read the codes normally indicated cylinder 3 contribution.this was never solved as it would come back on after a few months from having it worked on.the dealership still has the car and stated that cylinder 1, 3, & 4 had misfire codes and that 1& 3 plugs were coated in oil. After cleaning the engine and doing compression tests it appears the engine is destroyed.i'm glad the engine didn't lock up and i can only image what would have happened had i been able to continue on that trip and it consumed all its oil while driving.a locked up engine may have resulted in a fire or wreck as the loss of power on a mountain nearly did.

While returning from vacation on july 17, 2018, traveling on the new jersey turnpike from boston, ma to arnold, md, after approximately traveling for 4 hours, with a stop 1 hour prior to a rest area, we took exit 7a to proceed onto i-295 and the car suddenly lost all power.pulled over to the side, opened hood, smoke and flames coming from the engine with no warning.vehicle burnedand explodedprior to the fire department arriving.vehicle is totally gone and there is a metal shell, the entire car was in flames and burned up.this happened very quickly with no warning.car had approximately 61,000 miles, extended warranty, and all required maintenance had been perform by the local hyundai dealer in annapolis, md.

In february 2019 while driving down a highway with 5 occupants in the car, i was flagged down by another driver who noticed sparks coming from under my vehicle.i pulled over and immediately the car shut down. It was towed and later determined that the engine had blown at 88,000 miles.even though the vehicle gave no prior indication of loss of oil pressure or any issues with the status of the engine, the hyundai warranty group turned down the claim stating that maintenance level was not followed to their specifications.i noticed that hyundai has experienced similar issues with several other recalled engines in their product group.i have spoken numerous times to both hyundai and the dealer to work out a compromise to repair the vehicle without any support from either.i have owned vehicles for over 40 years, with my last one reaching over 250k miles and have never had a engine blow.i can't believe this is an acceptable situation for both the overall safety or performance of hyundai products.

Vehicle engine seized in the middle of the road with no warning or indication that it was about to happen. My 3 and 4 year old were with me as we were stuck in the middle of the road, thankfully no oncoming traffic at the time due to the light being red. This is the second time i have had a known issue that was recalled by hyundai but did not include my vin number.i also had trouble with my steering wheel and called about it and it was not covered because my vin was not included in the recall.hyundai you need to seriously take a closer look at your process for handling these issues when there are obviously many vehicles outside of your recalls that are experiencing the exact same issue. People's lives are at stake. I was literally in the process of making a turn and could not complete the turn which left me dead smack in the middle of the road. Had this been during heavier traffic times, i could have possibly been hit by oncoming traffic because of my car stalling in the middle of the road.

On two occasions our car stalled on a busy freeway which caused us to once coast over to side of road. On second occasion, car stalled while in the middle lane of hwy 36 in stillwater mn. Car eventually started and check engine light started flashing. Carstarted to hesitate and a knocking sound was heard. Brought it to dealer and they said it was a oil maintenance issue which was not true as we performed oil changes when instructed.

My 2014 hyuandi santa fe engine mysteriously blew after burning all my oil. No warning signs, lights, and 3 months prior just got serviced at the dealership. Oil changed. No mention of my engine burning my oil. However, one month ago driving down a highway. My car made a strange pull. It didnā’t feel good. For precaution i pulled over. My tires were steaming looking like smoke. My car stopped running completely and wouldnā’t start again. My car showed no problem, no sign, no warning and never been late on a service due. The few miles over i was on my first service- is no excuse for my oil being empty. Having been serviced just 3 months prior, and only a few miles over my service date. My engine blew. Burning all my oil. And no sign, and warnings from my car. Besides my entire car shutting down on a busy highway. My engine was recalled, but case closed in 2017. My dealership wonā’t cover my engine. And iā’m furious. What amount of money this car has been, one month in the shop, no rental car given for transportation, hyuandi do better!!!!!!

Exited i95 going 60mph and as i slowed down for the ramp the steering wheel went loose. As i climbed up the ramp the car wouldn't accelerate and finally stopped 40 yards after the steering wheel went loose. I had no control over the speed after the steering wheel went loose since i could not accelerate. I learned the engine just stopped working.based on what i've read this has happened to others with sante fes on the highway so i was lucky i had just gotten off the highway.i had it towed to hyundai who advised they had never seen this before and this was a 'unique' case and i should 'feel special'. No car should just stop unless the driver chooses to stop.after almost 3 weeks i got my car back (5/11/15). They had replaced the computer that runs the engine ('box assy- eng modu' & 'electronic contro'). My vehicle was purchased new in nov 2014 and this event happened in april 2015.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v226000 (engine and engine cooling), but the parts were not available for the recall repair. The contact had not received a recall notice. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and confirmed that the vehicle was included in the recall, but the parts were not available. An unknown local dealer was contacted and stated that the parts for the recall were not yet available. The contact was concerned for his safety due to him driving daily for hours. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

This is a santa fe sport 2014. While traveling 110kmp on the highway, the vehicle completely shut down and the engine was locked. It has 102,000 km on it

While driving engine failed, unable to accelerate and lights on dash board lighting up.car stopped and put in park, turned off.tried to restart and car would not start.

Vehiculo en movimiento comenzo a tener ruido se lleva a mecanico y descubren que las bering estaban rotas y dao el motor.

While driving at 60 mph the vehicle lost rpms and the ability to accelerate. I pulled over safely to the side of the road and called hyundai roadside assistance. Roadside assistance could not validate my location. I attempted to drive to the next town but rpms stayed from 1000-2000 and i was unable to go over 25 mph.

I was driving down the highway at approximately 75 miles per hour on a sunny day, and i suddenly heard this huge "pop" like someone had just shot my window out with a gun.at first i thought i blew out a tire but got out and checked and there was no damage there.i kept hearing wind whooshing through the cabin of my car, and finally i opened up the fabric cover of my sunroof and my sunroof was completely blown out!there were no trucks with rocks or any other means by which this sunroof could have shattered like that.it just plain blew out on its own.i got home and checked on my computer and sure enough, there were numerous complaints about hyundais that had defective sunroofs that just blew out for no reason.

My head lights will cut off at night driving. When i lightly move the head light controller, it will usually turn back on

My head lights flickers off driving. When i barely move the head light controller, it usually turns back on.

The drivers side low beam headlight did not come on....replaced the light bulb and it worked, so reinstalled the light assy into its housing,,checked it and it did work.... 5 hours later as i was leaving home the drivers side low beam was not lite again.....the next day, replaced the bulb with a new one thinking i got a bad bulb....same thing happened...i have a lite headlight on the passenger side, high beams work, turn signals work, fog lamps work..so it is not a fuse or a relay. Googled 2014 hyundai santa fe low beam headlight and found this is a common, constant, and unresolved issue..called my hyundai dealer, earliest he can look at the car is weeks away. So the safety issue is how do i drive at night ? hyundai must be aware of this issue, but there is not any recall i can find..i know i am using a correct replacement bulb, and they cost $18.00 each......thank you

Fog lights coming loose.

Headlights are ineffective . Lights now only light approx 15 feet in front of car does not light side of road. I have had the dealer realign head lights at least four times no effect. I have replace toe bulbs with just about every bulb available led andhalogens 55watts to 100watts no effective change. For the first several years they were great street signs were clearly shown now lane markersspeed signs are only visible as you pass them. Light does appear to pass thru the lenses now. I have talk to other drivers with similar cars they are also having the same problems. The headlight are from earlier models 2013 and earlier with used h11b lightsno auto parts stores show h11b for 2014 santa fe catalogs show h11 bulb for this car. I believe the lens have deteriorated to the point light barely passes thru. Driving in rain or fog is impossible to see clearly have to follow the car in front of me. Need your help please

I live and work in the city and county, tucson, arizona.in the county there are generally no street lights at road intersections.my new car (2015 hyundai santa fe) does not have any running lights on the side that provide side illumination at night.i have had multiple incidents when making right and left hand turns onto streets/roads without street lights where my car's lights do not illuminate the road i am turning onto until i completely make the turn.in several instances as i made the turn i could not see the road and i over shot the turn and drove well onto the berm and was able to stop and steer back onto the road or i turned too soon.another instance was when i went down an embankment and was able to stop before hitting the bottom.luckily these were no accidents involving vehicle damage or personal injury/death.the only way that i can see the side street, road or driveway i am turning onto is to turn on my bright lights.obviously, this is very upsetting to oncoming drivers and a potential safety issue.in addition, at night when stopped or driving straight there is a black void approximately 15 feet in front of the vehicle.on one occasion i practically ran over an obstacle since it was too dark to see it.i took the suv to my hyundai dealer and explained the problems.their solution is to use the fog lamps all the time at night.this addresses the black void in front of the car.it does not solve the right/left turn road lighting issue unless i used my high beams to execute the turn.they said that they were not aware of this type of complaint by other owners.i asked if they would contact the field representative to see if there are any fixes to this problem.to date, i have not had a reply.i am not happy with this headlamp design defect since it puts my passengers, other drivers, and myself at risk.

Very noticeable engine ticking when running. But when you rev motor a little, it stops. This happens in park. But when driving, i don't notice the ticking. This started about 2 weeks after i bought it.

Took the car in for a recall and service engine soon light on february 4th.when i got almost home there were 4 more lights on. Rear wheel sensors, skid control, downhill and car approaching light.made an appointment to get these fixed and i explained i had car shield and they said they accepted car shield.today, may 5th when i took the car back (first appt. I could get) after i sat there for 1-1/2 hours they came back and told me more things were wrong and informed me at that time they no long use car shield.i'm done with hyundai.they run you in circles and treat you like [xxx] and the tech had the nerve to get mad at me.parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

At 8,000 miles the check engine light came on. Took it into the dealer and they said the gas canister overflow was full causing the check engine light to come on. They replaced the gas canister and filter under warranty.at 14,000 the check engine light came on - took it to the dealer - they said i had overflowed the gas on fillup, and i had to pay $800-900 to get it fixed. I never top off the tank.it sounds like a defect to me, and i cannot afford $900 every 10 tankfuls or so.hyundai customer service is looking into itasked them to fix the defect - or take the car back - waiting to hear

Car ceases to accelerate as you turn a corner; also sometimes as you accelerate from a stop even though the gas pedal is in the same position as when you started.it will then jump as though you had floored the pedal.the lack of acceleration nearly caused an accident recently when making a left turn; the car following me nearly rear-ended me after i first started to accelerate and then my car slowed when the acceleration stopped.when it all of a sudden "kicked in", i nearly rea-rended the car in front of me.

I went to get gas this morning and could not open the fuel door to get to my gas tank.i even used the emergency hatch in the back of my vehicle but it would not release.apparently, the plunger broke on the fuel door and got stuck shut.i had to get a mechanic to open it so i could put gas in my vehicle.currently it is not latched.

The engine started knocking like a rod maybe . It was sitting over night no previous issues and when i started it that was the noise it was making . Just bought the car in july of 2020

Occasionally right after i fill the car with gas there is an overpowering odor of gas inside the car for a day or so.i live in new jersey, where self-service is not allowed, and sometimes they fill it to the absolute limit, which may be the cause.regardless, this is terribly unsafe because gasoline fumes are toxic.the odor is not from a little spillage on the body of the car, from the hose at the gas station.it is inside the car, and very strong.the date below is only the most recent date.this has happened several times.

Purchased new , march '14. In for periodic service 2-22-16 reported occasional hesitation of 1 to 2 seconds after a stop or slow forward motion. The dealer put the car on diagnostic machines. "no problem." revisited the dealer explicitly for the same problem on 3-7-16. But now, in addition to the momentary lags, there had been acouple incidents of longer lags of 5 to 10 seconds. Again, the service report was written up with "no problem". Now i'm making a 3rd appointment because the hesitation is happening more frequently and i've had the long count lags (10 secs or longer)happen twice in the last 2 weeks.the problem has now moved from being an irritant to being life threatening.incidents happen on streets and highways when entering and crossing traffic. Very unsafe, and nerve rattling.please refer to nhtsa incident # 10836613 & 1082431

I purchased this vehicle the end of june 2014, which i think i got a lemon.my gas release cap would not open and was told that a part needed to be order.i took my car in to south boulevard hyundai yesterday morning, so they (service tech) can open the gas cap so i could put gas in my car.i don't think parts should be breaking like that in the short time that i had the car, so the cap was open and the service tech left the broken piece inside the cap, he then told me that the part will be in next tuesday, iwhich he did not sound convincing.when i first got the car, there was a tear in the visor and it tokkm a couple of weeks to get that replace aafter i pushed them to do it, i was also informed the cabin air filter need to be replaced. I don't think i should be replacing anything other than reg oil filters.now i hear a slight whisper in the car, then the car almost cut off on me.i can see if i am abusing the vehicle but i am not, all i do is drive to a from work and to the grocery store, now since the gas cap will not close i am afraid to go anywhere think someone may put something in the gas tank or break the cap door off, i don't like driving see my gas cap door is open.i also have a trunk release feature on my key chain but don't have the feature on the car, i called hyunday usa and was told that i should have that feature, and when i contact hyundai on south boulevard in charlotte, nci was told i cannot get that feature., very disappointing about paying for a $25,000.00 car,as and cannot get the help that i need, as far as the cabin air filter, the tech stated that i would be smelling something fowl, and i do, and is making my head hurts everytime i get in the car, i just hope i don't get cancel from it.

I am the perspective buyer of this used car currently at a dealer for sale. Carfax report indicates two recalls on the car. On 2/17/20, salesperson called hyundai inc about the fuel leak recall being fixed if i purchase the car first and then take the car to a hyundai dealership to fix the recall. Is this proper procedure in purchasing a used car? the car is currently being offered for sale at a savannah, ga, critz mercedez dealership. Salesperson provided a carfax report that indicated recent service on the car the dealership provided. However, the described recall had not been remedied which i brought it to the attention of the salesperson who then called a hyundai dealership. I was told hyundai would fix the issue and extend the warranty another 40,000 miles. Should i be concerned about buying this car based on the salesperson requiring purchase first before the car is fixed?

Car loses pressure car down shifts very hard and jerks non stop while driving

My 2014 santa fe sport has a strong gasoline odor in the cabin but it can also be smelled outside the car.the smell is the highest when the car is turned off and sits for a short time.the odor is so strong that the service tech had to get out of the car so the odor could dissipate.i have had it to the dealer twice to be looked at and they could not find an issue. They definitely could smell the odor when it was dropped off. They drove it for a short distance but i don't believe it was far enough for the problem to show up. This only seems to happen when the temperature is about 90 degrees or hotter.it has not been an issue since the temperatures have cooled down and it was not an issue when i bought it december 2017. It was real bad at times last summer.

Purchased new 2014 hyundai santa fe in august, 2014 with 8 miles on odometer. On december, 2014 the check engine light came on. I took it to dealer service center immediately. All tests came back-no cause found. Possible purge valve sticking. Mechanic sprayed lubricate. Engine light shut off. On february 17, 2016 engine light came on and interior beep sounded after starting vehicle. I called dealer service center for appointment. Vehicle has 2,200 miles. I repeat 2,200 miles.

There is a significant leap or jerk when it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. Seems to happen when the car is cold. I have taken it to the local hyundai dealership that claimed it didn't do it when they drove it. After picking it up from them, the car ran beautifully for about two weeks. They don't claim to have done anything but from i can find out about this problem is that they reset the computer but it doesn't fix anything. This is a safety hazard. The car jerks violently when starting off at a stop light and jerks violently when it comes to a stop as downshifts. I have been able to make it stop when i put it in park, turn off the engine and then turn it back on. Seems to reset the computer and it's ok for a week. I believe hyundai does know about this problem with the santa fe and the elantra. They just have not come up with an updated software program that will fix this hazardous situation. The other problem is the blind side detection becomes disabled when it is raining making that a hazardous situation as well.

The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 17v226000 (engine) in 2017, but the failure persisted. In addition the contact stated that the gear shifter became stuck and was very difficult to switch from the park position. The failure would normally occur when the vehicle was not driven for several days. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 60,000.

2014 hyundai santa fe sport, less then 12,000 miles purchased new 5/10/14.at less then 2000 miles discovered no coolant in reservoir. 6 weeks after delivery back up camera replaced. Car will not start in the morning, dead battery, have to use battery charger every night. Car emits white smoke.when on freeway car will not go above 60mph, seems like it is in limp mode.

The car makes a scraping metal noise only when accelerating. Speed is not a factor. Happens each and everytime you accelerate. Hyundai replaced the crank position sensor wheel twice. Hyundai does not know what the problem is and have had my car for almost 2 months!

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the vehicle loss motive power. The contact stated that the abs and traction control warning lights were illuminated.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While the vehicle was parked, it rolled out of park position and rolled over the driver.the vehicle came to a stop when it crashed into another vehicle. The failure mileage was 2,500. Updated 9/7/2017

Failure to accelerate from a full stop with accelerator petal partially or fully depressed.malfunction occurred three times and persisted each time for between one and a half mile on two occasions and for one half mile on one occasion.on july 11, 2014 automobile was left with dealer for warranty repair of the malfunction and has remained there as of this date, august 3, 2014, with no repairs having been done.this is a very serious malfunction and could quite easily result in an accident with serious safety consequences.this is a new vehicle with only 1100 miles on it.the malfunction has occurred randomly during routine driving followed by a return to normal operation of the vehicle after driving the distances noted above..all three instances occurred after making a left hand turn from a full stop.vehicle slowly increased speed without any appropriate response from accelerator position.driver had petal fully depressed in one instance and tried flooring and pumping the petal in two others with no response.

When making a left turn from a stop or rolling stop and you press hard on the acceleratorthe engine does not rev up and the hesitation of a second or two can leave you stranded in a lane of traffic.

All wheel drive system does not engage. Was told by hyundai service team that this is a recurring problem in the santa fe and a very expensive fix. I myself have seen hundreds of people with this issue on various forums.car only has 123,000 miles as of 12/21/2020

When at highway speeds car will suddenly lose gears [go from 6th to 4th] and not be able to reach speeds above 60mph or get out of 4th gear. This has happened now 3 times in the last 3 weeks

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the driver side seat belt was peeling and failed to properly restrain the driver. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owned a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While driving 72 mph, the contact struck a deer. All of the air bags deployed and the passenger side seat belt came out of the floor. The police were called and a police report was filed. The driver and the passenger were injured and transported to the hospital by ambulance. The driver sustained a hematoma on the leg. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and deemed a total loss. The vehicle was not diagnosed for the seat belt failure. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 49,800.

The right, rear seatbelt is locked and unusable . Car was stationary and not involved in any accidents

When attempting to engage driver's seatbelt, the seatbelt anchor bolt unthreaded/pulled out of its mounting location on the b-pillar.it seems that it was never installed/threaded completely at the factory.vehicle is approximately 2-3 weeks old.

Air stays at warm when driving in heat and won't cool

I pulled up on the handle to adjust the driver's seat back. When i raised the lever, it broke off in my hand and the seat back went flying backward. Had this happened in traffic, i probably would have been injured/killed in a collision, as i was no longer secured by the seat belt and unable to see outside the vehicle (seat laid completely back).

On three occasions now, i have nearly hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk, because i did not see that pedestrian. All three were hidden from my view by a combination of the driver side mirror and the frame of the car on the left side of the windshield. Together, the placement of these two features creates a surprisingly large blind spot. I think it is partly related to the fact that the seats in the car also cannot be raised enough; i have good front visibility, but if i could get higher i do think the mirror might be less of an obstacle. Each time this has happened, i learn a new type of situation in which i must not trust what i see, but i worry about unanticipated situations in the future.

Driving in stop and go traffic (5-20 mph), when i stepped on the brakes with normal pressure for this type ofcity driving. At this time i heard a loud grinding noise and i had to drive off the road to avoid hitting the car ahead because the vehicle did not stop.it took longerand much more pressure than just a regular tap on the brake needed to stop it at this speed. I drive on this road every day and there was nothing wrong with the road or weather. I called roadside assistance and had it towed to the dealership. No problem was identified.i am no w afraid to drive this vehicle for fear of repeat incident.

Steering locked up, difficult to turn. Warning steering light came on and brake warning light. Down hill warning light came on. It was a blessing that i was during only 30mph.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the traction control warning light illuminated and the vehicle loss motive power and would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer rick case hyundai located at 3180 satellite blvd nw, duluth, ga 30096, who was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.

It's the abs brake system that is leaking fluid and could possibly leak on an electrical box causing a fire.

The contact owned a 2014 hyundai santa fe sport. The contact received nhtsa campaign number: 20v520000 (service brakes, hydraulic)however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had experienced a failure while the vehicle was in the driveway of his residence without warning after exiting his home to walk to his vehicle. The contactnoticed the vehicle was on fire inside the carport which was attached to the house. The contact ran back in the house contacted the fire department within moments the vehicle and residence went up in flames.the fire department was contacted came out and extinguished the flames.a police report was made. Medical attention was contacted and came out to the seen but was not needed. The fire department deemed the vehicle and residence a totaled. Doral hyundai 10285 n.w. 12th street, doral, fl 33172 (305) 477-4005 contacted the contact for a courtesy call and was informed, from the contact that the vehicle went up in flames. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. The parts distribution disconnect.

June15,2015experienced complete brake failure while driving near home.somehow made it into my driveway w/o incident. Had vehicle towed to dealership that afternoon. Dealer confirmed brake failure due to total loss of all brake fluid, "verified no brakes & master cylinder empty, found brake fluid leaking from abs module brake lines. Tighten all (16) brake lines." dealer svs told me the lines had not been tightened at the factory.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While driving approximately 50 mph and attempting to make a right turn, the brakes failed when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to apply excessive force to the brake pedal in order for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 89,060.

The contact owned a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while driving at a low rate of speed, her brakes failed to operate as needed and collided into another vehicle. The contact was uncertain if any warning lights had appeared on the instrument panel prior to the failure. The contact stated that all airbags deployed upon impact. The authorities were called to the scene as a grayish smoke began to emit from her vehicle. No fire had ignited from the smoke and a police report was filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where her insurance later deemed the vehicle a total loss. The contact did seek medical treatment by her doctor for inflammation to several areas of her body, as well as bruises to her right leg, chest, and left arm. No other injuries were reported. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was 106,000. *dt*dt

Hyundai had recall campaign 194 in place to address faulty abs module but never developed a suitable remedy to correct problem, consequently turning people away at dealerships with no fix - now they have recall campaign 205 replacing 194 to correct the module problem but again hyundai says they have no solution for problem so far and give no perspective date for finding a solution - customers are still faced with threat of fire from leaking break fluid with no remedy in sight except for an unbelievable warning from hyundai to not park the car in a garage -

When driving at highway speeds, it is difficult to keep the vehicle driving straight. The vehicle tends to wander and requires constant steering corrections to keep it going in a straight line even on a straight level road with no wind, and will sometimes veer off quickly in either direction, leaving its lane, for no apparent reason.this can be particularly difficult to control when passing another vehicle--especially a truck. When driving for a long distance, it is also very tiring to constantly have to be "steering" the vehicle all day long. My description of driving this vehicle is that, "it is like herding a cat down the highway.".i have taken the vehicle back to my dealer twice: the first time they checked alignment (nothing found), the second time they replaced the original kuhmo tires with continental tires from a 2015 santa fe (this made a huge improvement, and made the vehicle drivable, but the problem still exists). I then went to another dealer (theycould find nothing wrong, but did suggest increasing the tire pressure to 40 psi). I then contacted hyundai corporate customer service to see if they had any suggestions/recall/etc. & although they were very pleasant to talk with, they did not seem to know anything about the problem.although it will cost me almost $10,000 to make a change; because of the safety issue, i have decided to sell the vehicle, as i feel that it is too unsafe to continue to drive. (i also have a 2008 santa fe, which i purchased new, and which has never had any kind of steering/handling issue.).

I have a 2014 hyundai santa fe sport awd. This is my 3rd hyundai. I have really been impressed until now. My car wanders all over the road when driving over 50mph either on a road or interstate. I have to work hard to hold the wheel to keep the vehicle straight. The handling is awful i feel like my car is skating all over the road. Like i am driving on ice. The car is unsafe to drive. I have been to the dealership, had the alignment checked, had a new alignment performed, as well as replace the tires. This has not fixed the issue. I feel it is unsafe to put my 5 year old in the vehicle. I cannot keep the steering straight. What is hyundai doing to fix this issue? i am making payments on a vehicle i feel is unsafe to drive and no one can tell me why?

Steering locked up, difficult to turn. Warning steering light came on and brake warning light. Down hill warning light came on. It was a blessing that i was during only 30mph.

Car loses pressure car down shifts very hard and jerks non stop while driving

2014 santa fe sport awd -the car wanders excessively at highway speeds and the problem becomes worse as the speed increases. The car needs continuous steering correcting just trying to travel in a straight line. The car will dart front right to left at varying degrees of intensity. The car was taken to the dealership with less than 500 miles to address this issue and the dealer checked the alignment but found no issues with it. As described by others, the car behaves as if it had worn out ball joints, however it is a brand new vehicle.i had thought that this was an isolated issue with my vehicle, but after test driving another santa fe sport awd and reading online reviews from places such as edmunds.com and numerous owner community forums by simply searching "santa fe wandering", it appears that a vast number of people are experiencing this terrifying anomaly. This issue makes me feel incredibly unsafe driving on the highway especially when passing traffic or next to other vehicles as the car does not want to drive in a straight line.

I was driving on the 405 freeway and i started noticing that the vehicle did not stay in its lane even though i wasn't moving the steering wheel, it veer to the right and left continuously i had to keep my hands on the steering wheel in order to try to keep it straight, when i purchase this vehicle i did not notice the issue because i only drove it for a mile or two down the freeway, i headed home and that's when i notice the problem, to me this is a safety concern and i think that hyundai should look into this issue before someonehas an accident. I'll be bringing it back to the dealership to see if they are able to resolve the concern.

Vehicle wanders right and left at 55 mph and above. Will not maintain a straight line. Have been to the dealer three times and the regional service manager has been called in and has driven it.also have taken out a case #.everything checks out fine but the problem still exists. Dealer states it is normal for this type of electrical power steering.vehicle is not drivable on the freeway.hyundai is no longer willing to work on it. .. .updated 07/21/15

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the steering column made a loud clunking noise while driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was concerned about losing power steering while driving. The contact stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v118000 (steering). The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that her husband purchased the part to repair the vehicle himself. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.

My 2014 hyundai santa fe sport ,i think it is called column flexible coupler.it makes a clicking noise when turning the steering wheel.this happens when stationary or in motion.

Car steering completely gave out without warning, while the car was running. Luckily i was parked, but there was no warning, it just stopped working.

Drove new 2014 santa fe sport 2.0t for the first time on the highway after buying it 3 days earlier. The vehicle would not maintain a straight path while driving at highway speed. Sf required continuous correction at a varying degree. It is not only that the vehicle wonders, but it does so mildly and aggressively. The vehicle tends to sway and rock all while trying to correct for the continuous wondering. It's a very odd sensation that occurs, just when you think you might go straight for a bit the vehicle will dart to one side and it has no rhythm or reason. Sometimes left sometimes right and the road crown plays no part in the direction. Dealer aligned all 4 wheels twice. Added toe in and camber to the rear. Also, replaced rear springs and shocks. Turns out one of the springs was shorter than the other by 1/4" causing the suspension to be unbalanced. This repair helped for some of the unexplained rocking but now that it is fixed the whole steering issue has been exacerbated. I don't feel safe in the vehicle and intend on selling it. Currently, it has 11k miles.i logged another complaint with hyundai customer service today too. The fact that potential buyers rarely get to drive the new car for more than 7-10 miles and at speeds rarely above city is a disservice. If hyundai knows this problem exists and government oversight knows, than it is deceitful and dishonest. Lastly, this vehicle behaves in the same manner as one with worn out ball joints that would not pass a state safety inspection. Yet these santa fes are still being sold. It's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Buyer beware!

The steering column makes a loud clicking noise - read online an several youtube videos that there is a defective part in the steering unit on a lot of these. Steering is very big part of control especially with kids in the car i think there should be a recall to fix the part in hyaundia that is clicking in all the steering very serious problem because it is how u control the car.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle drifted from left to right. The contact indicated that when driving the vehicle at highway speeds, it was very difficult to keep vehicle in a straight line. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times where the alignment was adjusted and the tires were checked but the defect persisted.the manufacturer was not informed of the defect. The failure mileage was 150.

When turning, the vehicle makes a clunk sound. Had it inspected at hyundai of wesley chapel and it was found to have an internal failure of steering rack gear assembly and now requires a replacement of the steering rack assembly. This is an ongoing issue with hyundai, as the 2017 santa fe's were recalled for this issue.

All incidents, no accidents[thannk god!]i drive a 2014 sante fe sport.i noticed a clicking noise when turning the steering wheel.initially, i heard it once in a while. I thought it was a one time noise.the clicking noise is more constant, when making a turn while the car is in motion. Sometimes the steering wheel feels 'loose' or uncontrollable.i believe it is the steering wheel or coupler.i am concerned for my safety and other drivers.hearing this clicking constantly, sounds like the steering wheel is going to break. It is annoying!i am not comfortable driving this vehicle. I have no other means of transportation.i looked on the internet.i saw where customers have listed this complaint. Car wonders when traveling on freeway going at freeway speeds. Correcting for this darting from side to side seems scary at these speeds. Changing the driving mode selection on the steering wheel doesn't change the problem. I still experience the same wondering and darting that i am constantly trying to correct. Thought it might be tires but they are new and no signs of unusual wear. Acts like a worn ball joint or tie rod or the need for an alignment.

The steering on our 2014 santa fe went out today while trying to take a left turn at a green light prior to getting onto a major highway. The car was towed to the dealer we purchased the vehicle at and we were told we need an entire new steering column and to do this they need parts from outside of the united states. Could have been a very bad situation if it had happened a few moments later on the highway.

When driving, the wheel sticks into what it thinks is center .we must use two hands to drive the car at all times and clutching the steering wheel is a must. When the wheel is in the center position you have to lightly jerk back and forth to keep it straight, even when changing lanes on the interstate. The vehicle drives a lot like a suv with a really bad alignment, however it doesn't need one according to carmax. We are newly wrapped in a 30,000.00 car loan financed by capital one and we are getting more fearful of this vehicle the more we drive it. We don't have as much of a problem within the city limits at 30 or below in speed, however anything above that is going to feel very noticeable.i have 29,000 miles on the vehicle and have had the vehicle since 2/23/2017. The vehicle was purchased from carmax, a reputable company in birmingham, alabama. The car is being financed through capital one credit. The 2014 santa fe is white, gls, 3rd row, drive assist. We suspect that while the car has drive assist ability (especially in turns) that the vehicle isn't aware we aren't turning as we pull the steering wheel to keep it centered in the lane. Thus we are pushing the wheel left to right to balance out the wheel to keep the vehicle straight constantly. Example: driving on interstate 20 heading to the doctors office at uab kirklin clinic at 8:00 rush hour traffic. Trying to maintain the center position of the wheel while pulling the wheel left to right to keep it straight. The wheel seems to pull to one side or the other and while checking mirrors and for other cars before getting over in another lane, i could be in another lane without even realizing it. I am afraid a policeman will see me and think i am a drunk driver. I have driven off onto the shoulder of the road a few times by accident after looking for a second to check my speed or check my gas gauge.

While driving on the highway, starting around55mph, the car starts getting wobbly on the road.it is a constant struggle with the steering wheel to keep the car going straight.if there is any wind or driving by trucks, the car becomes even more difficult to control.i have seen many others having the same issue and there does not appear to be a fix, however dealer attempts seem to even worsen the issue with others, so i have yet to address this with the dealer.i do worry when my wife drives the car because she is not used to it, and has ' thrown' her into the breakdown lane several times.i'm hoping hyundai will acknowledge the issue and come up with a viable solution.

At highway speeds of around 65+ mph, the vehicle requires constant, but very slight, steering corrections where the slightest lapse in attention may result in the vehicle leaving its lane and possibly result in a crash.oddly, this is most noticeable on smooth, straight, level highways without wind or other vehicles nearby that could affect the tracking of the vehicle.it seems to be an alignment issue (neg. Or 0 deg toe) or an electric power steering system issue (torque sensor too coarse, drive motor too aggressive, or improper gain (i.e. System responds too late to input, then over responds when it does respond))...though these are educated guesses.my first dealers refused to check the alignment because they "have to drive the vehicle to confirm the issue," and "they are not allow to drive over 65 mph."even if they were able to drive above 65 mph, they would have to do it on the right type of highway and under the right conditions for the issue to show itself, and i doubt many dealers will go through such an effort.this is a very common complaint with the 2013 models and, to a lesser degree, with the 2014 models.please see:http://www.hyundai-forums.com/dm-2013-santa-fe/152283-2013-santa-fe-sport-steering-issues-33.html note that many people with similar complaints were unable to resolve the problem with an alignment (pointing to the eps having an issue).the same complaints also appear with the hyundai sonata.

Steering issue on hyundai santa fe 2014.vehicle wanders back and forth across driving lane at speeds over 45 mph.it is impossible to hold the vehicle on a straight line.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While driving unknown speeds, the steering was unstable and the vehicle stalled without warning. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,000.

On 6/20/2015, while travelling on an interstate highway,, the steering wheel made a "clunk" noise and the power assisted steering warning light came on.lights indicating a malfunction of the esc and downhill brake assist also lit up.there was complete loss of power assisted steering.i was able to manhandle the steering on side roads and made it home.on the first business day after the incident i took the vehicle to the local hyundai dealer where it has remained awaiting a replacement steering column.updated 11/01/2017

Highway driving at speeds around and above 60mph the vehicle' steering requires constant correction to keep it within the lanes. The suv randomly swerves in one direction or the other and requires quite a bit of effort to bring it back to center lane. The constant battle to keep the suv centered in the lane causes arm fatigue over time. Passengers, especially in the back seat, could experience motion sickness due to the constant side-to-side corrections. Noticed the problem is worse on larger highways, 3-4 lanes wide. May be due to angle of roads for water run-off. This is not a one time incident, it is always this way. No problem whatsoever at lower speeds.

Sitcky steering wheel. At highway speeds the sticky steering wheel is very prominent, infact gets progressively worse after 50 miles per hour, very pronounced at 70. Vehicle would sway to the left or right first, when pressure is applied to get the tire point to the center, the steering wheel instead of getting to the dead center would over correct and make the wheel slightly point to the opposite side. And this would repeat. The steering wheel feels sticky or notchy, that it gets stuck in slots around instead of moving smoothly around.this causes not just driver fatigue, but is extremely dangerous constantly throwing the car of out of the lane. I reported this to the service center an year back, and wheel alignment was recommended, but the issue has only gotten progressively bad now. Will be going to dealer back again to see if this can be fixed. But when i googled about this issue so many other people are also encountering the same problem, for many steering column was replaced and yet was not resolved. Hyundai must perform a recall on this voluntarily, and find a fix for this highly dangerous safety problem. This is not a simple old car worn out problem, my car had far less than 20k miles when i initially reported it, and now close to 30k, and the car is just two years old, just driven on highway. If it was a lease, i would have just handed it back and forgotten about it, unfortunately we bought it.

Something inside the steering is broken , makes clicking sound when turning the wheels.

Power steering failed at approximately 3,250 miles. This did not occur while driving (fortunately), but on startup. The car was towed to dealership which told us this was a widespread problem, therefore the replacement part was on backorder and wouldn't be available for at least a month. I asked why they couldn't take a part from a new car they had on their lot, and they said those might be bad too.* 10/15/2015 bf updated 10/20/2017

Vehicle is unstable at highway speeds above 55+ mph. Vehicle has 3 steering modes (comfort, normal & sport) and regardless of which one, the vehicle requires constant course correction. At first i thought cross winds might have been the issue and it is not. Cross winds will actually make it worse. I've contact the dealer and i was informed the problem was a known issue. I have an infant child and another on the way. This is a serious concern as this vehicle shows signs to be unstable and causes fatigue.

When turning the wheel, it makes a loud clicking noise and moves too much. The steering wheel is very loose.*dt

Steering wheel is clicking when turning to either side. Feels and sounds loose. It is noticeable when car in moving or sitting still. Has been doing it for quite some time but was never diagnosed by hyundai dealership.

The car feels very unstable when driving down the highway. It wonders across the road and i am always trying to correct with the steering wheel. I traded in my 2011 santa fe limited and the steering was excellent on my old car. So i am very unhappy and don't feel very safe driving my new 2014 santa fe sport.i have also experienced the feeling of it swaying as reported by others too. There are many other complaints on these same issues and they need to correct these unsafe issues. The blind spot on the right rear is pretty bad too.

While driving up a steep winding road my car began making a fluttering noise like a paddleboat. There was a lot of play in the steering wheel with a small squeak to only the left, in the play of the steering wheel. The dealership has let me know i need to replace the steering shaft. What actually makes the steering shaft go out, isn't that a component that has a long life? the noise was more intense driving up the road than going down. As reached a city level the drumming noise was still happening, but inconsistent.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While driving 70 mph, the steering wheel shook and rattled violently. As a result, the contact had to drive below the speed limit. Murfreesboro hyundai (2203 nw broad st, murfreesboro, tn 37129, (615) 898-0700) was contacted and advised the contact to call the manufacturer to see if the vehicle was included in a recall and could assist with repairs. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 66,000.

Vehicle has panoramic sunroof. On 5/22/17 my wife was traveling on the interstate at approximately 6:30 am and the sunroof glass shattered and blew out. There were no foreign objects involved. This is already a known problem on hyundai veloster.and also to my knowledge there is a pending class action lawsuit regarding this type of failure. Fortunately my wife was able to pull off of the freeway quickly and no one was injured.

While the car was parked, my husband wanted to get into the passenger seat and the whole door handle ripped off when opening the door.

I was driving down a two lane road about noon on dec. 22. The temperature was about 70. I was going approximately 60 mph. I was not turning, just going straight down the road.it sounded like there was an explosion. I pulled off the road as the glass sunroof shattered and fell in on my daughter and me. There was no other car near me. Nothing hit my car. I called hyundai was told that it wasn't covered by them and would be my responsibility to have fixed. I was stuck on the side of the road with the glass literally falling in on us. I closed the cover and we drove very slowly (about 15 miles) to a place where we could vacuum up the glass. It was in both the front and back seats. We cut our hands trying to clean it up but we had no choice. The glass continued to fall as we drove and rain was predicted. We had to do our best to be able to drive it another 30 miles to place to get it worked on. It's been 24 days (yes, rental car fees!) and i still and waiting on my car. I don't want the sunroof any longer because i'm scared it will happen again but i think i'm stuck with it. The man at the repair place believes it was a faulty pressure regulator. I don't have any receipts for the repairs yet because i still don't have my car back. It was very scary and not sure what would happen to someone driving on a busy highway if this occurs.

Recall 17v358000 (issued 6/30/2017) for secondary hood latch not securing hood and causing hoods to fly open if the primary is not properly secured. Vehicle serviced 8/21/2017 (53,633 miles). Recently went for an emissions test. Technician pulled the primary hood release but neglected to open/close the hood. Accelerated on a secondary road up to approx. 35 mph and my hood flew open. Dvr showed the technician released but did not open/close the hood. Shop accepted liability and auto body shop is replacing/painting hood/pillars. Inspection of the secondary hood latch found the release handle and latch to be seized in the open position due to corrosion. The recall "fix" did not fix anything. Hyundai corporate notified (case: 16847464). Current odometer is 100,418 miles. Incident occurred 2/20/2020. No injuries. $3,000+ in damages per invoice. Cell phone video taken to document seized latch and the ability to open hood with primary latch released only. More images available upon request.

Rear driver side door doesn't open from inside or outside of the vehicle. Based on everything i have been reading seems to be a common problem.

Starting approximately two months after purchasing my vehicle, june 2017, my paint has been steadily chipping off of my car, mostly in the front area (hood, roof, sides of hood).as you will see in the video, touching the paint makes it chip off.it started out as just a couple of chips and has steadily turned into large pieces of missing paint especially after taking road trips of more than two hours, i notice a big difference. I tried to load a video so that you can see, all i have to do is touch the large spot on the right side of my hood and the paint literally falls off.

About 4 pm on oct 6, 2014, i was driving south on route 101s toward yarmouth, nova scotia, canada at mile marker 16. It is a 2 lane restricted access highway. There were 2 people in the front seats, one person in the middle row, passenger side. The day was partly sunny, mid 60s, little wind. My sunroof was tilted open and the liner was open halfway to expose the sun roof opening. The speed limit on the road was 100km/hr, and that was my speed. A tractor trailer passed me going the opposite direction, probably at 100 km/hr or a little more. Just as the truck disappeared in my blind spot there was a huge explosion. It sounded like a canon went off just above me. I looked up and saw a huge hole in the sunroof and there was glass all over me, my passengers, and the inside of the car. I immediately slowed down and pulled off to the side of the road when it was safe. I did not hearanything hit the car, nor did we and 3 royal canadian mounted police find any sign of anything that could have caused the damage after searching both inside the car and along the roadway. About 60 percent of the sun roof was gone, shattered into bits throughout the front, middle and even some into the back of the car. The outside part of the sun roof that was still attached was also entirely shattered. I proceeded directly to a hyundai dealer who took pictures to document the damage. A warranty repair was authorized. After inspection and cleaning, the sun roof and liner operated correctly, with damage limited to the glass portion of the sunroof. No other roof damage was noted. My concerns are that even though this has been replaced, couldn't it happen again? what is being done to investigate and solve this problem that runs across several years, many makes and models of cars?

Driving on highway when without warning the closed sunroof blew out with a large bang.no impact with any object.driver and passenger showered with broken glass.car purchased new only two months ago.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While driving 75 mph, the contact noted a strong vibration throughout the vehicle. The vehicle also began independently pulling to the side. The dealer stated that the tires were properly aligned and the vehicle was functioning as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Returning home on a highway, when i veer towards the left, the front-right tire and rim started separating so i stopped then looked at the car and saw the tires were ripped apart!it occurred to me i smelled around a half hour before this incident.the dealer and the 24 hour towing truck said it was my fault but later, the mechanic saw something else; unfortunately, they still charged me @ $300.00!

There was a recall for 2018.the recall was shown as 173.this did not include my year, 2014.there was no recallshown.please review the links listed below!https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2018/hyundai-santa-fe-steering-wheels-can-fall-off-recall.shtml-39 to 325 complaints https://www.carcomplaints.com/hyundai/santa_fe/2014/steering/steering.shtmlhttps://www.carcomplaints.com/investigations/https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2018/hyundai-power-steering-lawsuit-denied-class-action-certification.shtml as of 6.2.2021, local dealer and 855.371.9460 [corporate] has no information on recall or complaints.no warning lights or messages appear!help !!!

Abs, downhill, and traction control indicator lights illuminate on the dash. Hyundai dealer says a rear wheel bearing/wheel speed sensor is failing and needs to be replaced.they said they've seen this many times and when looking online these seem destined to fail on my hyndai santa fe's 3-6 years into the vehicle life.there is a tsb for this issue that says it relates to sea water, but it may just be any water/wet conditions. I believe a recall is needed for this issue.

I took my car in to the dealer for routine oil change and tire rotation.the service advisor came out and asked me if i had a recent blowout.i said no.she said when the tech rotated the tire he noticed a bulge in the sidewall of the rear passenger tire.they advised it was dangerous to drive it that way, so they put the spare on.one other tire was showing cable.both tires are at 5/32.i bought this car used, in june 2015.car fax showed no reports of any issues, however, there was noticeable body work and repaint (poorly done and i have pictures).the previous owner had a blowout in the less than 12 months they had the vehicle.they never reported it, but the dealer mentioned it.i have 19" tires on my santa fe sport 2.0t.is it possible the recall on the 17" tires should have included the 19" tires as well?these are still the original tires.i haven't owned the car a year yet.i travel 140+ miles a day to and from work.my safety is very important.

While i was driving, my car all of sudden stopped working. It happened around 2 months later after i bought, which was 2014 september or october . I went to a dealershop, they inspected my car but couldn't find anything. However my car stopped working on the local area ,2015 sep.4th. Again, they couldn't find anything wrong in my car. I asked hyundai headquarter and dealership to check if there is a report regarding this issue, they do not give me any answer about it. Please check and let me know what i am supposed to do. I do not want to get killed on the road and kill someone because of my car.

All wheel drive system does not engage. Was told by hyundai service team that this is a recurring problem in the santa fe and a very expensive fix. I myself have seen hundreds of people with this issue on various forums.car only has 123,000 miles as of 12/21/2020

The power strut for the rear lift gate rusted and broke while unloading groceries.this caused the lift gate to fall almost striking me in the head

I took my 2014 santa fe in for abs recall and replacement. Shortly after, about 1 month and a couple hundred miles, my abs light, traction and engine lights, and my ebrake light remain on. My speedometer does not work and reads at 0 even while moving. I can feel my traction not working and the vehicle slipping under the wheel. I took the vehicle to hyundai dealership and there is an issue with my whole hec unit and needs to be replaced. The hec unit works with the abs system and could have been shorted from the abs recall. It reads multiple sensor issues with the wheel sensor and hec unit needing to be replaced.

It's the abs brake system that is leaking fluid and could possibly leak on an electrical box causing a fire.

I have a problem with the car having trouble when taking off. It hesitates as i'm taking off some of the time. I would say about half the time. I just got a tune up because i only have had this suv about 3 months. But still acts up. No dashboard lights on either. Everything else has been great.

I drove my car to the restaurant to meet family for dinner, when i arrived the driver door would not open from the inside or outside.i had to crawl out.i had never experienced this prior to this incident. In troubleshooting this, i found several instances where this has happened.the only way to fix the door is to tear off the panel.i called the hyundai dealer explained the issue. Amanda she stated that this happens and would order the part to fix my door.i explained that the door cannot be opened from the inside or out.she said they could open it and it run approximately 289.00.i took the car in a few hours later, received a call explaining that they were not able to open the car door and that there might be damage when they removed the door panel to fix it.i reminded amanda that when i initially called i made it clear that the door could not be open.amanda had matthew call me back and tell me it was only a courtesy that they were letting me know about the potential damage because the dealership would not be responsible for the damages.i stated this is a safety issue.matthew agreed but stated because of the mileage (144,000) it would not be covered. I stated so in order for me to drive my car with the door fixed; you might damage my car and will not be responsible for it. Matthew stated yes. He said i could call the 1-800 customer service numbers to see if they could help.i questioned why he was not calling since he had the car and that would be good customer service. Matthew agreed to contact the number.i don't understand how mileage of a vehicle has to do with safety.there should be a safety mechanism to be able to open a car door when the latch fails, if the car door cannot be opened from the inside then it should be able to be opened from the outside and vice versa. What if someone cannot physically crawl out?

My head lights will cut off at night driving. When i lightly move the head light controller, it will usually turn back on

While driving down interstate i heard a large sound as if the car was hit by something.there were no cars or trucks in front of me or to the right of me.suddenly i heard crackling and put the sun shade back.the entire back panel of the sun roof shattered.

Intermittent blind spot detection system.de-activates and when you re-start vehicle the blind spot systems resets and works ok. Blind spot systems is not reliable. I've been having this problem for a while and dealer can't do anything because there is no fault to troubleshoot. All of this happens when vehicle is been driven in highway.

I just bought this vehicle two weeks ago and i purchased the carfax to find out that the liftgate has electrical promblems. The display behind the steering wheel keeps indicating that the liftgate is open, but i can see that it's closed.

Low beam headlights are so poor i feel i cannot safely see to drive.have checked alignment and they are just very poorly designed according to dealer.cannot see adequate distance to stop safely on low beams at reasonable speeds.so bad i seldom ever drive at night and never on the highway.

The backup camera isn't working half the time.sometimes i get a blue screen, sometimes i get the picture with a lot of lines in it, making it nearly impossible to see anything. It started on 7/18/18 and continues to be a problem.

I bought a new car june 2014 and when it was rain my windshield wiper has no water come out.so i went to dealer to check out and i found out that the motor & pump assy. Was bad.but theproblem is washer pump had tape around body and it looks used one.it was brand new car when i buy.i am just wondering what else going to be bad.i spend more $33k and i am really upset.what else did they use used parts for my vehicle??what should i do?i do not want my any anymore.thanks

Very noticeable engine ticking when running. But when you rev motor a little, it stops. This happens in park. But when driving, i don't notice the ticking. This started about 2 weeks after i bought it.

Air stays at warm when driving in heat and won't cool

I purchased my 2014 santa fe sport from ford motor sales located@10700 ford road dearborn, michigan in october 2020. After a week of driving it back and forth to work,it started not accelerating and i kept smelling like something was burning in it. I took it back and forth to the dealership for this same issue now the engine is knocking and the oil wont stay in it either, after its been changed too. Im heartbroken and its christmas and i have no transportation at all to get to work for me and my family. I'm a frontline worker for the covid-19 team here in michigan at the be well medical center for biotech laboratories and can lose my job if i dont get this fix immediately. This recall explains alot thats why my poor truck is dying. Please help

2014 hyundia santa fe sport will not accelerate, when taking off, or going up hill. Almost seem like losing power when trying to increase speed. Very dangerous when trying to merge into traffic or on highway.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the speed suddenly decelerated to approximately 20 mph and failed to accelerate when engaging the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but no information regarding the failure was available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,080.

When the cruise control is active, pushing the button to decelerate occasionally causes the vehicle to downshift and begin accelerating.manually disengaging the cruise control or pushing the brake pedal halts the acceleration.this appears to be a dangerous failure mode.the dealership that examined the vehicle said this is due to a defective clock spring in the steering column that can cause buttons to perform the opposite task or fail to work at all.the dealer noted that this is not an uncommon issue.the vehicle has approximately 50,000 miles and the repair is not extremely expensive at $485. It seems that it would be much safer if the failure mode was to simply not allow the cruise control to engage when a fault is detected.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While being operated 65 mph, the driver's side sun roof shattered spontaneously without warning. The dealer was not contacted. The contact sustained minor cuts, which did not require medical attention. The manufacturer was contacted in regards to the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 44,000.

The front windshield cracked when parked. It had always had a haze when the wipers were used that never cleared. The dealer tried new blades and various window treatments. But nothing ever worked. Always seemed to be faulty manufactured glass. The rear window continues to have the same problem and i am afraid it will crack also.

Driving on hwy 71 approximately 25 miles south of alexandria, la with the sunroof closed and the interior sunroof liner closed when i heard a loud "explosion" similar to the sound of a shotgun being fired.there was only one vehicle near me, approximately 500 feet ahead of me.i looked to see if the side window had been shot out and to make sure my son, who was sitting in the back, was ok.i then could hear the sound of wind coming from above me.i opened the sunroof cover and discovered a large hole in the forward part of the sunroof, with the remainder of the forward retractable sunroof shattered. I pulled over to the side of the road and noticed that it appeared that the sunroof released upward.i have taken the vehicle to a hyundai dealer and they are trying to say this is the result of something striking the sunroof, and that they have "not seen this before".i have done research and see that there have been several complaints of this happening including a recent recall of hyundai velosters for the same problem.

I was driving about 45 mph on an open road, little to no traffic. The sunroof in my santa fe spontaneously exploded. We heard a very loud bang. A large piece of glass flew up and out of my car. Several small pieces of glass fell into the car, on me and my 9 year old daughter (who was in the backseat/driver side). The falling glass ranged from slivers to pea sized to larger than 2 inches. The glass continued to fall into the car. I closed the sunshade on the sunroof to try to keep the rest of the falling glass off of us. I was only about 1/2 mile from home. I drove home and parked in my garage. The panoramic sunroof has 2 pieces of glass. The entire front panel was shattered, and had a large hole just to the right of center. This was after 6pm. I called the hyundai dealership first thing the next morning. The service person i spoke to stated this was the 2nd exploding sunroof they have seen this month. I had the car towed to the dealership. When we got to the dealership the rest of the sunroof had shattered and fallen into the car. The car was filled with glass. I had 2 small glass slivers in my hand that i easily removed. I have a small glass sliver in my chin still. My daughter has a few small scratches on her stomach (she was wearing a cropped sports top).

Driving on highway when without warning the closed sunroof blew out with a large bang.no impact with any object.driver and passenger showered with broken glass.car purchased new only two months ago.

Panoramic sunroof, the section of glass that opens, exploded while driving 70 mph down the interstate.there were no cars within 1/4 mile of me, and no overhead bridges, so nothing hit the roof, it just exploded.in fact, looking from the exterior, it is clear that the glass blew outward, because the perimeter of the whole is convex facing outward, and most all of the glass, including the wind guard were blown onto the highway.the upholstery liner was ripped as well. So thankful that i was by myself, and that my 8 year old daughter and wife were not in the car.in my mind, this is clearly a manufacturer's defect. Could you imagine if a windshield were to do this?? you never hear that happening, so they are obviously cutting corners on these sunroof panels.hyundai is repairing it for free, but i will always be paranoid about it happening again.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai santa fe. While driving 65 mph, the panoramic sun roof fractured out on the roadway without warning. The fabric closure was shut, which prevented the fragments from entering the top portion of the sun roof when the failure occurred. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence and parked. The dealer was notified of the failure and asked the contact to tow the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000. Updated 08/22/2017

Abs, downhill, and traction control indicator lights illuminate on the dash. All wheel drive system does not engage. Was told by hyundai service team that this is a recurring problem in the santa fe and a very expensive fix. I myself have seen hundreds of people with this issue on various forums.car only has 123,000 miles as of 12/21/2020
