The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I bought this car with 40k miles on it and it now has 63k miles. Since i have had it, i have replaced the radio display, speaker, driver side window controls, starter and a recall on the airbags. The clear coat is also coming off all the door handles and it is fading the paint. I notified hyundai and they did not address any issue.

A 2010 hyundai santa fewas involved in a front end impact .the vehicle was taken to a local body shop for repairs.in the normal course of repairs, the shop replaced the components of the supplementary restraint system and sent the vehicle to the local dealer to check for error codes and to reset the system.one of the error codes would not clear.the dealer, in washington state advised the repair shop and us that pursuant to a tsb,01-90-013, hyundai recommends that the wiring harness also must be replaced in addition to the standard parts of the airbag system, when the air bags are deployed. There was no direct damage to the wiring harness and this appears to be some unique requirement designed into the harness by hyundai.it is unclear why this is required or what unique feature was built into the harness that demands the replacement of the entire harness.this added requirement adds an additional $6,767.75 to the repair cost over and above the regular collision related cost.whereas this requirement is unique to the new 2010 santa fe model and is not function required during the standard replacement of air bags in any other vehicle that we are aware of, we must ask is this a defect, is this simply a design feature to enhance profit from repairs or is there some unique feature to the wire harness design that serves some other purpose or function?any information would be appreciated.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. While driving at any speed, the driver and passenger side air bag lights remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician reset the air bags sensor. Within ten minutes of resetting the air bag sensor, the passenger side air bag light illuminated. A week later, the driver side air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat sensor or the seat belt latch may need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 71,000.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the driver of the vehicle crashed into a telephone pole head on. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The driver sustained face and head injuries. The vehicle was towed to a salvage lot. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

Dashboard seat belt light didn't go off after normal start up.diagnostic completed at local service center.determined it was a faulty air bag module.mechanic purchased module from local hyundai dealer.dealer parts employee stated that this was the third module purchased that week.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. While seated in the passenger seat, the contact noticed the air bag off light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technicians stated there was nothing that they could do and the problem was related to the contact's weight. The manufacturer was contacted and provided the same response. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 8,500.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while her son was driving at unknown speed, the front driver's and passenger's side side-curtain air bags deployed without an impact. The pressure from the airbag ripped the seams of the passenger's and driver's seats. There was no warning indicator. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact called winn hyundai of santa maria at: (805)349-8500 and was referred to the corporate consumer affairs office. The office sent forms for the contact to complete and return, along with any pictures. The dealer also requested that the vehicle be taken in to be diagnosed which was still pending. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I was driving my 2010 hyundai santa fe, the blinker switch started frantically clicking, i than heard electrical sparks from the steering column and than smoke starting coming from the steering column where the blinker shaft was located. Hyundai has had my vehicle for 2 weeks, leaving me and my 8 month old carless. The dealership and cooperate has said that they have never heard of this happening before, and has not given me a courtesy call or vehicle updates. I looked on this website, safecar.org and indeed, i found someone who has encountered the same issue (please see nhtsa id number 10629458). I feel that this is a major safety concern and needs to be recalled immediately with the other recalls in place.

The turn signal "clicking noise" started working continuously and independently from the actual position of the the turn signal lever and the associated lights on the panel.electrical smoke came from the steering column from the area near the turn signal indicator handle.i removed the 10 amp fuse to interrupt the power to the turn signal and the smoking stopped. This occurred when the vehicle was started and did not change under any driving conditions.

This car has stalled at least six times in the past six months, usually as we are deaccelerating and in a downhill position (ie: driving slowly down a mountain, coming to a stoplight going down a hill, etc.). It has a new engine as of summer 2020.we took it to a local hyundai dealership and they ran a general diagnostics check-up with no results.we have searched this problem online for a solution and see many others reporting similar stalling concerns, but when we put our vin into the recall system, there are no recalls affiliated with this car. The car drives great otherwise, but the stalling is very concerning.

The air conditioning compressor shuts off when it rains.warm air blows through the vents.

Rear tail lights retain moisture and water, causing the brake lights to malfunction and short out when bulbs are replaced.this issue is visible when the vehicle is stationary and in motion.this issue has caused me to be pulled over by police officers as well as it can cause unsafe braking conditions due to no brake light being illuminated on the vehicle.this is the 3rd time that this has happened with this vehicle.brake light bulb will be replaced but as soon as it rains or any condensation collects in the housing, it caused the brake light to not illuminate upon pressing the brake pedal.

When slowing down for traffic lights, turns or merging into traffic lanes, when the brake is released and the accelerator is pushed, at random times the car hesitates and all power is lost momentarily. The vehicle seems as if it has or is in the process of stalling out. At first, it feels as if all power has been lost and that the vehicle should be steered to the side of the road.however, then the engine suddenly re-engages and the vehicle lunges forward. The engine warning light does not come on, and the engine apparently does not"die," since there is no requirement for an ignition re-start. The problem happens sporadically (about once or twice a week--but sometimes once or more in the same day). The vehicle starts well, idles well and otherwise performs in an okay fashion. The dealer cannot find anything wrong. The car did not do this for the first 20,000 or so miles. On at least two occasions, this "stalling out" has almost created an accident situation.

Intermittent issue where the gas pedal does not work - depressing it does not cause the engine to rev at all.this has occurred with the vehicle at 40 mph, then no power as vehicle slowed down to 15 mph before it started working.other symptoms when this occurs are as follows: with headlights turned on, the left turn signal is stuck "on".if headlights are off, selecting the left turn signal can cause various dash lights to blink, and engine loses power in synch with the blinking lights.

2010 hyundai santa fe se / owned 5 1/2 weeks / 824 miles.started vehicle late morning, preparing to drive out of the garage.smoke began pouring from the a/c vents.immediately turned off the engine & got out of vehicle.called 911 for fire department. Smoke continued for couple of minutes after the engine was turned off.evident from the smell it was an electrical malfunction/burn.firemen confirmed this.firemen checked under the vehicle & the engine compartment, but no evidence of smoke, fire or burn in either location.i had vehicle towed to the dealership.no conclusion at this time.

On tuesday, june 8, 2010 i was on a busy interstate highway with fast moving traffic and my car lost all power while traveling at 70 mph.fortunately, i was able to barely glide the sante fe to the shoulder and stop without incident.follow up:3 pm visited hyundai service center and was told that it was not a throttle problem.they are in contact with ca service to determine cause of problem.friday, 6-11-10 after complete testing of all circuits, hyundai declares no source of problem.auto was picked up at 4:30 pmhyundai assistant service manager:bob woodhyundai case # 3982284the specifics are:?suv was purchased 8/09 and currently has 5200 miles.?cruise control was on but not engaged.?gas tank indicator on one-half.?with my foot on gas pedal the initial instinct was that the engine had lost all power.opressing harder on gas pedal had no reaction.othere was an opening in traffic and with the suv forward inertia i was able to just reach the road shoulder.oobserved that red indicators were on (battery, oil)?reset transmission selector to park, turned off key.ofirst restart-nothing happenedosecond restart suv started and i did not turn off until reaching home.obviously, this is a serious life threatening situation that needs to be researched thoroughly and corrected.

Smoke coming from turn signal switch

Purchased vehicle brand new, the rear brake lights failed and i was rear ended @ 65 mph. Vehicle suffered $14,000 in damage with a bent frame. The value of my vehicle is now diminished drastically and it is reported in car fax report. Approximately 2 years later vehicle was recalled for faulty brake lights and the brake switch was replaced at the dealership. I should not suffer financial loss due to negligent parts that were manufactured and installed on this vehicle.

Vehicle when starting from stop, hesitates then acclerates fast. Sometimes more so left turn but also straight ahead. Almost ran through garage door because of this problem. Also last night i tried to acclerarate turning left from stop sign. Vehicle scares me, the way it is working. Appears to be getting worse. Thank you. I think this is a serious safety concern.

Santa fe blinker switch on steering column started smoking. I have a video as evidence of the smoke and mileage of the vehicle. Hyundai refused to fix the problem at no cost even though it was a clear and present danger to me and my family. Blinkers started staying on at all times when ignition was on. Blinkers would go left and go right, but when in the center position the left turn signal stayed on or the audible part of the blinkers could be heard with no signal light. Smoke came from the steering column and the vehicle smelled and still smells of an electrical fire. I took a video that clearly shows smoke coming from the blinker switch in the steering column. Please ask if you would like a copy of the video. I called hyundai customer service and told them and i also asked to the dealership to take care of it. Both refused and said that the vehicle was out of warranty by 4,755 miles and they would do nothing even though my family was in clear danger. They charged me $179 to fix a problem that was obviously a defect in their parts and is a danger in both being engulfed in flames and getting into an accident from faulty signals and intentions being sent to other drivers on the highway.

Yesterday while decelerating at about 30 mph and coming to a stop sign, the car completely shut off. The check engine light illuminated. The car was restarted and continued to operate normally.the car check engine light did not illuminate again.i took to my dealer today (next am) due to my concern. I contacted hyundai and asked to extend my warranty and mentioned my car had similar problem description mentioned in the online 929 hyundai campaign.the dealer said no code history or code is showing and nothing can be done but to wait and see if problem reappears. I am concerned that thiscar if again completely shuts off while in operation could become more of a fatal result.would like hyundai to extend the online 929 campaign to my vehicle which is same year and model or some other way to check this problem thanks

Passenger rear door (right rear) lock actuator mechanism failure. Door is locked and **cannot be unlocked or opened from inside or outside the car**, whether by manual or key fob method. Manual door lock button (on right rear door) inside car difficult to actuate, door handle actuation (cable?) seems like it may be detached (very easy to actuate door handle, no resistance).worked fine, until it failed with no warning. Tried to open right rear door and was unable to. I rarely use this door, so it may have failed prior to when i noticed it.approx 59,000 miles when problem noticed.*serious* safety issue if door malfunctions with passengers in car--the door is 100% useless--and it could happen to any of the doors i assume.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai sante fe. The contact stated that the interior and exterior lights failed. In addition, the front driver's seat could not be adjusted. The contact stated that the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 41,000.

While sitting in crawling traffic or coming to a slow stop at a stop sign, on occasion the car will lose all electrical power (lights, radio, interior lighting goes black) and the engine then stalls out.the gas tank is typically half full or below but never on empty.i have to place the car in park or neutral and restart the engine.the engine runs fine before and after the incidents.this has happened at least three times a month since june 2011 and has almost caused multiple car accidents.the car's power also seems to dim when applying the breaks during normal driving on occasion.the headlights, interior lights and radio touch screen go dim when break is applied.i have brought it to the dealership twice already and complained but nothing was done.since the dealership could not repeat the event, they claimed there is nothing that can be done.the dealership suggested that i leave the car stalled out and have it towed in.i explained that the car will start again once in park or neutral, therefore a tow truck will not tow it back to the dealership.

Engine stall during stationary cranking and driving on city streets after shaking noise heard.related to recall 49.

When pushing the gas pedalto accelerate from stopped position there is a notable pause. (1-3 seconds??)this then causes you to push accelerator further ,therebycausing a much more sudden acceleration. I am used to itbecause it has happened intermittently since car was new, but someone could get in trouble.hyundai service says its because the pedal is sending a position of pedal through an electronic signal to fuel metering system.

I was slowing down to make a left hand turn, when the car completely shut down.no power steering, no power brakes.was able to complete the turn and pull over.put the car in park and was able to restart and continue driving with no problems.this is the 4th time this has happened since we got the car.since it is sporadic, dealer cannot find what is wrong.worried that incident might occur while driving on highway and get rear-ended.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the starter failed periodically. The starter was replaced, but the failure recurred. The contact researched the failure and found that there was too much paint on the negative connector to the engine from both the passenger and driver sides. An independent mechanic resolved the failure by sanding down the area by the connector to metal on metal. The failure was remedied. The dealer and manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Constant, unsafe, and uncomfortable steering to the right, enough to change lanes on its own.

My car had a recall campaign 110 to replace a stop lamp switch in june 2013. I have already had to replace the switch again because my car was not shifting into reverse and park sometimes. The car was stopped in a parking area and had to be brought to the dealer to get a new switch. I want hyundai to know they need to get better switches because 3 years seems to soon to replace a switch.

While driving last week, the engine cut off. I was able to slow down and stop as i was approaching a red light, but it took 3 starts to get the engine to turn over again. The vehicle drives like it is hesitating. I've had all factory maintenance done and dealer can't find anything wrong. Just hit 90k miles. Additionally, the a/c turns itself on randomly. This happened before and the technician repaired it while it was under warranty. It is doing it again, and is no longer under warranty for repair. I'll be driving along and all of a sudden the a/c unit comes on. Also, my doors won't lock with the auto lock on the key fob nor with the door lock button on the door panel. It affects one door at a time. I have had to pay for the lock attenuator to be repaired on the driver's door twice, rear passenger door and now the front passenger door.

While driving in rain and high humidity, going south on route 95, a/c cooling stopped working and only warm air was blowing through the vents.stopped working for over an hour, until i stopped for gas in ft. Piece.when i restarted, it began to work and worked for another 20 minutes before it stopped.i brought it to the dealer on june 3.dealer said he could not reproduce the problem and would do nothing.it happened again on june 13 while driving.i went back to the dealer and he again said he could not reproduce it and would do nothing.i reported it hyundai would said it could not be reproduced and would do nothing.i found numerous instances, on the internet,of people reporting this problem, but was told unless i could reproduce on my vehicle, nothing would be done.i have to wait for it to happen again and hope the car dealer is open.

Engine stall during stationary cranking and driving on city streets after shaking noise heard.related to recall 49.

As i am driving my 2010 hyundai santa fe down the highway at normal speed limit of 55 my engine stalls with no warning sign.. Very dangerous luckily i wasn't hit.. This is the third time this has happened the first time the car went to the shop and they said it was just the battery and nobody can figure out what's going on..snapthe picture after everything happened then i get a light.thank god me and my kids wasn't hit or killed.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated while making a left turn, the vehicle stalled with no warning. The contact had to apply extreme force to turn the steering wheel and was able to merge to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. The technician was not able to neither replicate nor diagnose the failure.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,800. Updated 08/11/14*ljthe consumer has since traded the vehicle. Updated 08/19/14

Engine stalls while driving on freeway - the temperature outdoors has to be cool and damp.safety risk for kids and myself to have engine stall.lights go out and cruise if on kicks off.engine will restart itself, but after it happens - engine light stays on unless i accelerate.the engine stalling has happened for the past 4 years, but no one can find the issue

I have had the engine stallment issue with my 2010 santa fe limited since i bought this car new in 2010. My last 4 incidents have been reported to the dealer. They have not been able to duplicate the issue nor find any codes for it. They have performed the following fixes on my car in 4 separate attempts with no luck:- replace throttle body (2013)- replace main power cable- replace computer's main board- update softwarethis is an extremely dangerous issue. Last time it happened i was driving my car on a downhill ramp to enter the freeway when the engine stalled. I can still hear the concrete truck's brake sound in my ears when it desperately managed to stop and avoid collision. I don't feel safe to drive this car anymore. I have also lost my confidence in the dealer's ability to permanently fix this issue.

1. Starter gear had to be replaced and the dealer ship and was told many of these cars are having the same issue.2. When raining and driving down city streets, or highway my car will try to stall out and the check engine light comes on then it will lose steering, rpms will fluctuate. When checked it said it was the absolute pressure sensor.

On monday, july 14, 2014, my wife rode her santa fe on a straight road accelerating slightly uphill when the engine stalled. On thurs. Dec. 5, 2013, i had a similar experience, which i reported to you at the time. This is the second time this has happened with this car. Again nobody touched the ignition key which has nothing hanging on it except the alarm and door lock dongle. My wife also suddenly lost power steering and power brakes, and luckily there was no other traffic, which could have caused an accident. She was able to bring the car to a safe stop and then was able to restart the engine and continue her trip. The 2010 car had a full tank of gas and has about 50000 miles on the odometer. It's awd and has a 6 cyl. Engine. Could this be related to the ignition switch problem that has plagued so many gm cars? needless to say we are worried driving the car because if this incident occurs at high speed, a serious accident could be the result.do you know of any similar experience? what do you advise? Vehicle stalled at low speed or turning on numerous occasions .stalls and then will start back up. Most recent incident, 12-13-2014, it stalled 3 times within 25 minutes when slowing to a stop. I've taken tohyundai in the past, they could not identify and issue, charged me $50.00 to adjust break light switch, which they stated should fix it. I checked on-line &locatedthe 3.5 sante fe low speed engine rpm logic revision service campaign which they will reprogram the vehicles ecm in certain vehicles with 3.5 engines. I tried to use the on-line vin verification & guess what ,it states mine was not one of the one with issues, it was made in alabama, 2010 & 3.5, same stalling issues as everyone else. I want my vehicle covered by this service campaign.

(1)on 11/01/2016 my wife heading to work experienced the engine shutting off while driving down hill luckily she was able to pullover to a safe spot to restart engine. (2) 0n 11/12/2016 we were headed to the store stopped at light the engine shut off again while in drive that was second incident that happened. 11/14/2016 the car was at future hyundia concord ca for inspection, according to dealer nothing wrong with car. Is there any history concerning engine shutoff ?

The engine threw a rod and it is the same problem they have in their 2.4l engine that was recalled.470,000 of them.now they won't fix my engine.

Engine seized.

From stop, making left turn, lost all power momentarily, rpm dropped to idle. Pressing accelerator did nothing, finally engine came back and accelerated wildly. Very dangerous.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the engine sporadically revved while driving. When started, the engine would rev to 40 mph. Also, the tire pressure warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to leigh valley hyundai (675 state ave, emmaus, pa 18049, (610) 967-6500), but was not diagnosed or repaired because they did not have the parts. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to call the dealer. The failure mileage was 89,868.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the motor started knocking and sputtering, and the vehicle lost power while driving 55 mph. Bob king hyundai (1601 silas creek pkwy, winston-salem, nc 27127, (336) 724-2861) stated that there was no recall and advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The contact also took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 115,000.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. While driving 30 mph, the contact heard a loud abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. On a different occasion, the vehicle rattled and made abnormal noises. The vehicle was taken to midwest superstore (located at 1100 e 30th ave, hutchinson, ks 67502, (620) 662-6631), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 74,194.

The contact owned a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact was calling from an insurance company and stated that while the driver was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started to lose motive power and decelerated inadvertently. There was smoke coming from the air vents and flames were seen coming from the front wheel wells. After exiting the vehicle, flames engulfed the vehicle and the vehicle was destroyed. The fire department was called to the scene and a report was taken before the vehicle was towed away. No injuries were reported. The cause of the failure was not determined. Later the insurance company concluded that the fire was caused by a faulty engine. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

For no reason the car will stall and all steering and brake functions are disabled. Happens when stopped or while driving. Car has to be put in park and restarted. Very dangerous situation for my 17 year old daughter

Oil pump failure at 90,000 miles causing motor to be replaced.hyundai dealership service manager told me there were no available motors to replace the one in my car.

Original nhtsa report #10621330.engine shuts down while making right turns.several occurrences in 2010, sep 2014, jan 2015, supposedly repaired under recall in may 2015.another occurrence in june 2015.now today, march 7, 2017 it shut down again while making right turn.put car in park and engine restarted.

Driving the vehicle when it just shut off. Took vehicle to a shop and they told me engine had a hole in the block from a connecting rod. That came off the crankshaft .vehicle only has 104358 miles on it and has always been maintained with frequent oil changes.

102,734 miles and the car started to jump while driving. Felt like rpm would not shift. After multiple mechanics looked at it, confirmed the transmission was gone. Due to being a second owner, only by 1500 miles hyundai would not cover. The 2wd were recalled, but not the awd. Clearly there are issues with all makes. Then after fixing that the purge valve solenoid needed replaced and then the thermostat housing. What a disappointment these recalls were not active for the awd. This was a safety issue driving on any road and we are lucky the car did not get into an accident. This started 9/18/2020 and work complete 01/05/2021

The engine was gone on my car

Engine shuts down while driving on the highway or i experience a lurching.at timeit just won't accelerate.this happens on several occasion this year

Engine stopped and rod knocking started while i was driving on a highway

In rainy humid conditions, the air conditioning compressor will shut down causing warm air to blow inside the car cabin. This immediately causes the windows to fog up causing a very dangerous driving condition. This has now happened 5 times since owning the car. If you turn the car off, let it rest for a few minutes, then turn back on the air compressor will work again but only for the short time. We have taken the car to the dealership and they cannot duplicate the problem. Again it only happens when it's humid and raining outside. After numerous searches on the internet, it seems that i am not the only person this is happening to. Hyundai has a serious problem and they should do a recall to fix this!

Vehicle stopped on incline of a hill, then reversed (gear shift in drive) back down 600 feet the hill and crashed against a concrete wall corner.have 2 witnesses that switched off the engine, inspected wreck, found no fault codes with a launch 431-reader but figured that battery was drained after 2 months. Surviving daughter suffers from memory loss but at the time of the accident claims the brakes failed.

2010 santa fe gl - about 60% of starting has a jerk/kick. It's like something engaged suddenly. Taken to the dealer twice and showed no abnormal readings. On aug. 19/2010, while driving on the highway at 110 km/hr there was a loud bang as if something hit the car from behind. I thought the truck beside me lost a wheel and struck my car. Had to get off the highway and do a visual inspection which revealed nothing. My car had 7,000 km at that time.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe.the contact stated that the vehicle would sporadically stall without warning.the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure.the manufacturer was in the process of assisting the contact with the failure.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 3 and the current mileage was 7,650.

Vehicle was being driven in the rain from savannah ga to jacksonville fl, outside temperature apx 80 degrees, with air conditioning on. Air conditioning abruptly ceased blowing cold air and started blowing hot, humid air, which fogged all windows from the inside. Suddenly lowered visibility causes driving hazard. This has occurred several times before with this vehicle when (1) it is hot outside, (2) the air conditioning is on, (3) it is raining, (4) the car has been driving for apx 30 to 45 minutes. Remedy is to pull off the road, turn off the engine, wait 5-10 minutes, then restart car. Air works normally for another 30-45 minutes then same problem re-occurs, but pulling to the side of an interstate also causes a safety problem. There is an online litany of similar problems from other owners of this vehicle at http://answers.edmunds.com/question-2010-santa-fe-with-air-conditioner-problem-104733.aspx. Hyundai customer service refuses to acknowledge the problem exists, told me this morning they had never received a complaint on it before, and local dealer refuses to repair it.

The automatic climate control system in my 2010 santa fe limited would occasionally stop running the air conditioning compressor, usually during heavy rain or humid conditions. Even with the a/c switch and indicator light on, the compressor would still not activate until the ignition was cycled. This caused the interior windows to fog up heavily and not clear, leading to a dangerous situation in which one instance my outward visibility being reduced to almost zero and could have caused a crash as i had nowhere to pull over. Eventually i was able to replicate the condition to the dealer who replaced the climate control module in the dash. The problem has not resurfaced since.

2010 hyundai sante fe. Consumer writes in regards to incompatibility of bluetooth with vehicle *tgwthe consumer was informed there was a glitch with the phone in respect to the bluetooth compatibility. The consumer stated the bluetooth would become disabled, not accept voice commands or make connections with any number dialed, if he did not take the time to answer the contacts data question.

2010 hyundai santa fe, at night using low beam headlights there is a shadow about three quarters down the windshield this only happens at night on a dark roads, on lighted roads it is not as bad, we took the car back to the dealership about three weeks ago and still waiting for an answer.

This is an addendum to complaint #10938417now, the drl will not turn onas stated in the prii0or complaint, hyundai says there is a sensor ij the rear view mirrorbutboth the sensor or rear view mirrorare no longer availablerendering the drl's as uselessand could subject me to a ticket

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the driverā€™s side front wheel felt wobbling. The contact stated that the tpms warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 13v113000 (exterior lighting) however, the vin was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 185,000.

The headlight lens housings (2) have deteriorated to the point that the headlights fail to properly light the road.this not a case of the housings yellowing but rather the housing material has developed fractures and is crumbling on the interior and exterior.there is no method to correct this fracturing. This manufacturing defect has been reported to the hyundai dealer repeatedly over the last four years.

After coming to a full stop at an intersection, i accelerated to enter the intersection and turn right.almost immediately as i pulled into the intersection, the car stalled as though it had died.i continued to press on the accelerator and after 3 to 4 seconds, the car lurched forward, with fuel feed working normally.i took the car to my local dealer where i bought the car for inspection.they took the car in for testing and said they could not find anything wrong.this problem persisted, with the incidents being infrequent.i reported this problem each of the next few times the problem recurred.each time i asked if others had reported the same problem.each time i was told there were no such complaints, and that they could not find a reason for my problem.finally, i left the vehicle at the dealer for several days with the understanding that they would drive the car frequently, trying to duplicate my problem.after several days, they called to say they had experienced the problem as i had reported it, and they had fixed it.i asked what was done, and the agent could/would not specify what the cause was, but they wrote on the invoice that they had reprogrammedtcm with tsb#11-at-011-1.i then again queried about other complaints, and he said that there had been other complaints after all, and this should fix the problem.however, i have since experienced the problem again and fear that an accident is possible.the latest:they are taking my vehicle in this thursday for a major diagnosis "to try to find the problem"., again.

My santa fe stalled while making a low speed right turn.no warning the steering became hard and instrument lights went on and engine off. Started right up afterwards. Immediately took it to the dealer who replace the throttle body and updated computer. No error codes.

I purchased the 2010 hyundai santa fe new with only 60 miles on it in june 2010.in january 2011 we began smelling a fuel smell.this occurred only after the car was running and shut off then subsequently turned back on less than an hour later like when running errands.i never smelled gas if the car sat overnight.we also would experience an intermittent long crank.i brought the car to the dealer in january 2011 and they replaced 2 o-rings that they stated were leaking and found fuel around.after these were replaced, i still had the same problems.i brought the car back in february 2011 and no known problems were found by the dealer.again, i brought the car back in march.this time they found fuel in the charcoal canister.they stated i was overfilling the tank which was why there was fuel in the charcoal canister.after speaking with the manager, they agreed to cover the part and labor at no charge and replaced the charcoal canister.after this was replaced, i no longer experienced the long crank but i still smellgas after running errands.hyundai will again be looking at the car for any other problems, but the dealer is really stumped so far on this.

Gas/fuel smell coming from engine compartment into cabin of 2010 hyundai santa fe gls (2.4 l automatic).smell is not noticeable at cold start overnight, or after a couple of hours of sitting.smell is very noticeable after the vehicle is driven to operating temperature and then shut off for anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour.the fuel smell comes directly into the cabin when the hvac system is set to vent, but not on recirculate.dealer has removed and replaced fuel injectors and fuel rail.smell still persists.this is a daily occurrence.the smell also occurs when stopped for any amount of time while driving/idling.the smell occurs when the vehicle's engine is off, but the key is turned to the point the hvac will turn on.this means the smell occurs regardless of whether the engine is running or not.the smell accumulates under the hood and is strongest near the passenger side middle.the smell is bad enough to permeate clothes while driving and to be smelled inside the house when the door to the garage is opened.it's bad enough to force parking the vehicle outdoors.it appears this issue is being discussed on the hyundai forums website and most complaints are for the hyundai sonata and sonata turbo, but the description of the issue and potential solutions point to the same cause for my santa fe.the dealer has acknowledged the smell, but not in writing.the vehicle has been in five times for this complaint - twice with work done, twice with no work done (claim was could not replicate), and once i was sent home before any work was done as the service representative determined there was nothing they could do at that time.there appears to be no known solution to this issue coming forth from hyundai at this time.

Purchased 2010 hyundai santa fe in feb 2010. Drove to dallas, tx in may 2010 the car started stalling after being idle at traffic light, on turns and from pulling out after being stopped. You would the think it was going dead but would catch up. This occured numerous times during the trip to & from. Immediately took to dealership on return but they found no problems. Has happened numerous times since then, once at 20 mph mergeing in traffic and twice today. Have taken it in 3 times but they never find anything and could not duplicate problem. I don'tknow when this will happen and don't dare pull out in traffic unless i have plenty of clearance from other cars!i feel at risk everytime the car in driven and feel it is a very dangerous safety problem and needs to be investigated.

Report date: 08/26/2010.purchased hyundai santa fe 08/14/2010. Vehicle has 1190 miles to date.vehicle has momentarily stalled 5 times - 2 in traffic situation which could have resulted in crash.all stalls have occurred after sitting and idling at traffic lights or turns on both level surface and inclines.when brake is released and accelerator pushed vehicle starts moving sluggishly and then stalls flat for several seconds and then engine re-engages.no warning lights activated. Engine does not die requiring an ignition restart.immediately took to dealer after stalling on incline 3 times at 677 miles on 08/18/2010.service tech ran complete computer diagnostic in idle mode in shop and found all systems within technical specifications.suspect drive-by-wire / computer linkage.vehicle runs smoothly, downshifts and accelerates on demand normally at all other speeds less than 10 mph.this condition occurs after a stop and after brake is released and accelerator engaged (2 times); when moving slowly and hard acceleration demanded (2 times); or when transmission initially engaged in drive from park mode (2 occasions).

From stop, making left turn, lost all power momentarily, rpm dropped to idle. Pressing accelerator did nothing, finally engine came back and accelerated wildly. Very dangerous.

Fuel sensor / gauge not workingi have taken this to our hyundai , they are aware of these issues and stated no recall has been issued.the fuel usually shows empty or 1/2 tank. Also check engine light on, masks any other issues we may have.i have also take this to other mechanics who know of this issue also.dealer said this will cost over $500

Check engine light came on and took to dealer, they check codes and said that vcm unit is going bad. Car has 54,000 miles we are original owners. Tech said that code light could be reset but if unit fails car would automatically slow from what ever speed you were doing right down to about 5-10 mph

I had just pulled into the driveway of a house i own that i rent; i was there to meet my tenants to discuss a couple of repairs that needed to be done in the house. I was slowing the car with my foot on the brake as i approached the end of the driveway by the side door of the house. Then i heard a sudden, extremely loud engine noise that sounded like the engine revving very fast and the car suddenly accelerated. I was propelled forward about 50 feet into the back yard and crashed into some lilac bushes directly ahead of me and into the steep dirt bank behind the bushes, which stopped the car. There is no garage and the driveway ends where the lawn begins. The front end of the car is quite damaged and the vehicle is presently in the dealer's repair garage. On the internet, my son found many reports of incidents of sudden acceleration for the hyundai santa fe for my model year and for other recent years and he suggested i file this report with the nhtsa.

Car randomly stalls and slows down to a crawl under acceleration. Sometimes it happens when going uphill, merging into traffic. Sometimes it's just normal driving. It is very unpredictable and extremely dangerous. It has happened off and on for the last 2-3 years. Dealer is clueless.

Event has occurred on 2 occasions.first event:while backing up in a parking lot, with no foot on the brake, and very slight force on gas pedal, the car surged much more than typical with such a light contact with the gas pedal.the car accelerated backward suddenly, until the brake was applied shortly thereafter.second event: while pulling into a parking spot at very low speed.the same event occurred, but this time while in forward drive.with no foot on the brake, and very slight force on gas pedal, the car surged much more than typical with such a light contact with the gas pedal.the car accelerated forward suddenly, until the brake was applied shortly thereafter.

This is a 4 cylinder gas engine.when in traffic stop and go, there is a hesitation when trying to accelerate. Sometimes this happens at a stop sign or at any time there is a low speed stop and go. It hesitates and then takes off because you naturally give it more gas because it isn't responding to the accelerator.this is dangerous, as it also happens when you pull out into traffic.

All doors automatically unlock upon placing shift control in the park position or the key is removed from the ignition. Entry may be gained by anyone in the vicinity of the vehicle causing a dangerous situation for driver and/or passengers. This feature can not be altered or defeated to allow the doors to remain locked when the key is removed from the ignition.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the rear passenger side door would not unlock and could not be opened. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 58,176.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The vehicle was parked and the key was removed from the ignition with the emergency brake engaged. The contact was standing with thedriver's side door open and heard a thump sound. The vehicle started to roll backwards out of a parking space. The contact was struck by the door while attempting to re-enter the vehicle, but was unable to as she was dragged by the vehicle. The vehicle was able to stop once it crossed a main road and collided with a curb. The contact sustained injuries to her entire body that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was able to be driven back to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not inspected by an independent mechanic or dealer to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The automatic transmission slips and then violently kicks into first gear when starting out. It will also slip while driving along and then kick back into gear with a bang sound. These slips seem to occur when the engine is cold( just started and temperature gage reads at or near c). I have taken it to the dealer 3 times over the years and they tell me they find nothing wrong. The problem recurs at least weekly.

My 2010 hyundai santa fe limited awd 3.5l, with approx. 60,000 miles, was making noise in the front end when i went over bumps or rough terrain.a local dealer told me it was most likely the end links going from the struts to the stabilizing bar. Two shocks were leaking so i had the struts (front) and shocks (rear) replaced along with the end links. On a test drive it was still making a clunking noise so i research the hyundai forums for possible causes. There were four possible causes, one which had been corrected, the end links, the lower control rod, the connection mounts between the frame and the body, and the front and rear engine mounts. Upon inspecting the engine mounts i found the front engine mounts bolt, a 12mm x 5 inch bolt, missing. Apparently when the car was engineered the bolt wasn't secured with a locking nut or cotter pin so when the nut loosened and vibrated off the bolt, the bolt also vibrated out of the mount. I actually remember when this occurred, at around 50,000 miles. I remember a loud bang under the car and in the rear view mirror i saw a bolt tumbling down the highway. I thought i had run over it with a wheel. I took the car into the hyundai dealer at 56,652 miles for an oil change and "12-point inspection" and "multi-point inspection" and the mechanic didn't discover the missing front engine mount bolt. (i found it myself when i took the car to a local car shop for the strut and shock replacement.) i then went to the hyundai dealer and told them what i discovered. The part number for the bolt is 21920-2b000, and the part number for the nut is 13396-12007k. There was no description as to the size of the bolt, the thread of the bolt and nut, nor whether the nut was a locking nut. I had the local mechanic make the repair with a 12mm x 5" galvanized bolt with washers, lock washer and a 12mm nylon locking nut. I consider this a safety issue.

Car would not go out of neutral.snow.esc and awd lights on.

Transmission hard shifts down when trying to merge onto highway causing loss of power. I feel like i'm going to get killed by causing an accident. This happens multiple times a day. Constant slippage between gears while moving, causing loud hard banging noises.

The automatic transmission slips (goes into neutral) when shifting between first and second gear under light acceleration.the engine rpms raise during the slip and the transmission slams into second gear.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 30 mph, there was a loud noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact approached a stop sign and attempted to accelerate but the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 11v261000 (power train). The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

Only 80000 orig miles . Have to finance & pay for a new transmission. Put it in drive it bangs now starting to do it when putting it in reverse .cost 3000.00 to fix dealership said there is no recall on it . I know if others are experiencing this same problem. Heard now they are offering 2000 .00 to owners now because of a stalling problem something with the alternator being overheated lose everything even if your driving on the interstate at 65-70 mph . Really !!!. Feel like we are driving a death trap very frustrating to spend so much on a used vehicle that we thought we could trust . Wish someone would help to get this resolved .

When accelerating lightly after a full stop (at a stoplight ex.) , the car acts as if the gas pedal has been fully depressed or "punched" hard. This causes the tires to spin out or burn rubber.

The weekend we purchased our 2010 hyundai santa fe limited, v6, while driving in area with moderate grades vehicle had trouble shifting between 1st & 2nd gears, 2nd & 3rd gears.we thought it could be the area we were driving in, so we continued to drive it to see if that was it.it was not.hard shifting has continued for the complete extent of our ownership commencing at the start.on 12/7/2010, took the vehicle in to be checked, cause: found transmission jerking. Module assy-auto trans control re, reset adaptive trans values.recall, p0111, ecm update, performedcamptc7. Bring back if continues after a couple weeks. It did continue, but i am a busy person.on 4/21/2011, returned again stating that vehicle was continuing to shift hard, jerking.dealer svc states could not duplicate.vehicle duplicated for me on way home from svc appt.on 6/10/11, returned again for same problem with hard shifting at low speeds, jerking.cause: tcm upgrade, re-reset adaptive trans values, after which svc dept said could not duplicate again. Svc mgr states that a new reflash had been issued since they upgraded it last on 12/7/2010.thru research i find no new upgrade has been released on svc messages/notifications.i believe i've been mislead.i am positive that the vehicle will do this again.also, intermittently when only cranking the vehicle and before the vehicle is put in gear it will immediately have a feeling of a large "bang or slam" and then lunge forward even though still in park.the vehicle also makes "popping" sounds when in park kind of like small "backfires".i have also asked them to investigate this and did not get a satisfactory response.they state that all of these symptoms are connected to the "new reflash" that has come out since the 12/7/2010 svc appt. It "should" fix it.i say recall it.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. While driving 20 mph and attempting to merge into traffic, the vehicle hesitated and made a loud noise. The contact stated that the automatic transmission appeared to fail to shift gears. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred ever since the vehicle was purchased in 2010. The vehicle was taken to hudson hyundai (977 communipaw ave, jersey city, nj 07304, (866) 710-6765), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact continued to drive the vehicle as the failure progressed over the years. While driving to the dealer, the failure occurred at least six times. The contact stated that diagnostic testing could not find an error. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was still under warranty and no failure could be found. The failure mileage wasapproximately 5,000.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. While reversing out of the driveway, a grinding noise was heard. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to engage. The vehicle was shifted to park, but continued to roll backward. The emergency parking brake was applied to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. An independent mechanic came to the contact's home and diagnosed that the driveshaft failed to place the transmission in the correct gear. The contact was informed that the output gear or transmission needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and found nhtsa campaign number: 11v261000 (power train). On saturday, jan. 15th, i was driving my 2010 hyundai santa fe v6 (4 1/2 months old, < 2000 miles) when i turned a corner onto a busy street, and the car lost all power as if someone had turned of the ignition.luckily we were not in an accident when we lost power steering and engine power or when we sat in the middle of traffic since the car would not re-start.roadside assistance was unable to send anyone for almost 40 minutes, so we had to have the police push us to safety. After being towed to the hyundai dealer for service, the car just started up again.we were told that they could not find the problem since no error code was seen.the technicians updated the ecm to version cman s2 ab8f since it was a recommended general service.no one knew if it would fix the problem.the technicians also mentioned that another customer had the same problem the week before.hyundai consumer affairs was not helpful, but did open a case number.problem has not re-occured yet although transmission often pops. *ln

In 2011, 1000 miles had to replace transmission through dealer same problem as listed below.now 2016 having to replace another transmission. Loud clunking noise when you let up on gas or when you would initially put in reverse.when in park it constantly would be stuck in park and could not shift had to call towing twice for that problem. Which never could be found. Now again replacing transmission.. Car came to dead stop while driving down street when the transmission locked up sounded like bottom dropped out ofcar and metal dragging on metal car stopped sharply and would not move.

My husband and i were traveling north from palm coast, fl to slatington, pa. Traveling north on rte i-95, my husband drove about 300 miles and than i drove another 300 miles, stopping to eat and at various rest areas. Just before the virginia border, we stopped at a rest area and my husband took over driving. He said we should stop for gas and a bit to eat. We went over the state line and got off at exit 4, we exit, stopped at the stop sign, turned right to go into the station and we heard a loud snap. At this point, theonly way he could stop the car was to put on the emergency brake there was no control of the car.after being towed to the dealership, we were told that possibly the driveshaft snapped and the transmission also went. The mechanic there said that this is the third one he had seen like that. The next day we were told that in fact that is what had happened.luckily, we had gotten off when we did, or else we may have been in a major crash on busy rte i-95 or may even had been killed because of no control of the car. This is2010 car with only 17,700 miles on it. Today, we found out that hyundai knew of the problem and that the dealers have received a bulletin about this. We were not told of this dangerous defect and now do not know if this has been corrected properly. We are supposed to pick up the car in virginia by the end of the week. We do have a major concern about this car.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. While slowing down to a stop from 25 mph, a knocking sound emitted from the engine. In addition, the gear shifter failed to go into the drive and reverse position and the engine felt as if it had detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the axle, transmission strip, power train, and drive shaft failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v261000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.

This is a low-mileage hyundai awd santa fe limited with 19" allow rims.at about 11,500 miles i noticed grease on the inside of the front-left wheel.it was thick and green in color, the grease used to lubricate the axle joint.the centrifugal force from the axle sprayed the grease along the inside of the wheel.i checked the cv boot and axle and it appeared the grease was leaking from the seal between the boot and the axle hub.there was a very slight leakage coming from the right wheel axle as well.this should not happen with a vehicle only a year old.i took it to the hyundai dealership and they confirmed the leakage on both wheels and ordered two axle seal kits, which will include replacement of the joint.there was no charge for the inspection and there will be no charge for the repair.if this went unnoticed it could cause an axle to overheat and fail.at high speeds this could cause an accident.

Purchased 2010 santa fe, 52,200 miles for wife.after a couple of days, she said car was rough on occasion on way to work.i drove car to find out what she meant.turning left out of driveway car jumped while shifting, good no car was coming from other direction.i noted that during first 5 miles or so when first run from cold start, shifting between 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears that there were occasional rough shifts.there seems to be hesitation and then abrubt shift.this happens when up and downshifting between gears.on a few occaions, it is extremely hard and feels like car has been rear ended.we brought the car to hyundai and service department confirmed the problem.they charged us almost $150 for 2 software updates.then after paying for this service, hyundai told us that it did not fix the problem.it would cost us another aproximately $2,800 since the transmission would have to be replaced.just a few months out of 5/60 warranty, inside 100,000 mile 7 year, but first owner only, warranty. I cannot imagine the nerve to charge someone for a software update on a known transmission problem and say sorry you have to pay us more to realy fix our design problem.unfortunately i did not join a hyundai forum that this common problem is talked about till after the purchase.and to think hyundai advertises their great and worthless warranty.

Engine hesitation and acceleration, pulling to the right of the road.when braking almost coming to a complete stop. Can hear wheel noise, like tires are going to fall off.

Vehicle hesitates and has no forward motion for perhaps 2-3 seconds. This happens when driving after slowing down and then accelarating, then backing off again. This has happened at least a dozen times over the years i have owned the vehicle. The risk is that you can not move to get out of the way of traffic. City driving, on and off the throttle most of the time during a slow speed left turn. Transmission appears to go into natural because it does not know what gear to go into, suspect it is a software issue/ driving style as wife does not have the same problem . Local dealer was provided information on several occasions, they could not duplicate the problem. Issue still exists. Comments on invoices: 100371 / 101673 / hycs414425

Turned car on, there was a bang (as if getting rear ended). Put car in reverse- car does not show being in gear. Start backing up, there is another loud shift, car slows down, and then goes in reverse. Put car in park, turn off, restart, car starts normally and gets into gear. Happened two more times in same week. Last time huge crash sound as if getting rear ended really hard.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to pride hyundai auto sales & service inc (680 hwy 6 w, batesville, ms 38606, 662-563-5464) for diagnostic testing and repairs. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 11v261000 (power train) in 2011, but it failed to provide a permanent remedy. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

I have a 2010 hyundai sante fe util.i believe i am having an issue with my "all wheel drive coupler".my wife uses this vehicle.currently we are experiencing loud bangs that feel like we are being hit from behind while the car is moving.it is in the back of the vehicle. When i investigated this online i see many other people with the same issue.i am wondering why this is not considered a recall.i feel my wife and child are in danger while riding in this vehicle.please investigate and protect the public by calling for a recall with this issue.

Drive axle broke, causing loss of power to front wheels. I had come to a stop at a rural highway junction, and the vehicle would not move.the vehicle will roll away in park if emergency brake is not applied.

On january 15 2015 while traveling through florida from texas.driving a hyundai santa fe 2010 owned for 3 years. Exiting from highway via service road. Stopped at stop sign.proceeded to make a left hand turn across 4 lanes.engine makes a whizzing noise and stops in middle of the first lane.tried to switch gears into reverse, park or neutral.hyundaiwould not move .got out of car and pushed it back to stop sign. Tractor trailercame up behind us and stopped he could not get by. Driver offered assistance to push the auto aside.sat in car for several hours until tow truck arrived.broughtto nearest hyundai dealer. Auto has less than 84,00 miles , it is just shy 20,000 of the 60,000/ five year power train warranty.discovered the car has three recalls ("campaigns") against it. Campaign #102 specificallypertains to thedrive-shaft componentand could result in atransmission problem, in which case it obliviously did.however according to the dealership service department, hyundai regional manager and hyundaicustomer service the defect product did not cause the problem.at this point we are stranded and "held captive". Rebuilt " tranny " with 85k existing mileage, 12/12 warranty, cost to hyundai customer $2400.00. This does not include tow, rental of car to drive home or shipping of repaired car. Hyundai buyers beware.

The car will go into neutral gear all on its own and then slip back into gear lunging the car forward. Occupants of the car will get a whiplash effect.the car is usually in 2nd or third gear when it no longer has power. This can be very very dangerous in a merging typeof driving situation.the driver is counting on the car to bring them into traffic, maintaining a certain speed and control.all of a sudden when the car is not responding.it is a very frightening situation.followed by the lurchingof the car.it feels as if the car has just been hit in rear.the problem happensonce or twice a month, for over a year now.there are thousands of complaints on line on many many web sites.everyone says the same thing.they bring it to the dealer, and the dealer usually can not replicate the problem.in some cases the dealer has test driven the car and has felt the problem and has replaced the transmission, only to have the new transmission do the same thing.usually though, the dealer and or hyundai get around this problem by saying that even though they have heard of this as being an issue, they will not do anything about it until the dealer experiencesthe problem or sees thatthe computer registers it in the cars computer system. But that is part of the problem.no check light comes on, nothing registers.so, all of these unsafe cars are out there.a situationwaiting to cause an accident.we had a friend's car behind us when we lostpower, and they said they almost ended up rear ending us.it's not a safecar.hyundai said "they can not do anything for us even though they know there is an issue. That more peoplehave to complain".they need to do a recall.it is my hope thatyou all can take some action.i do not want to sell this caror trade it in, it would be putting someone else's life on the line.hyundai is brushing us all off.

When shifting the transmission makes a loud banging noise losing power for a moment and then violently snapping back into gear. It almost feels like somebody is hitting you from behind. Sometimes it feels like the accelation/deceleration is tightening up right before it happens. Feels very scary sometimes and i'm worried to destroy the transmission. Vehicle was bought with 153k miles on it and it happened shortly after. Check engine light is on. According to dealer its a small emission leak.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe.the vehicle was parked on a slight incline with the engine running when it began to roll backward.the front passenger side door was open while the failure occurred.the contact ran to catch the vehicle as it independently reached a stop. The front passenger side door struck the contact resulting in serious injuries.she was transported by ambulance to the emergency room for treatment treated.a police report was available.a third party investigator was sent by the manufacturer to inspect the vehicle. The investigator found no failure within the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that while driving approximately 5 to 10 mph, the vehicle would intermittently surge forward.the vehicle was never taken to be examined for the cause of failure and was not repaired.the failure mileage was 150 and the current mileage was 3,200.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. While driving 25 mph, the front passenger side of the vehicle vibrated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the intermediate shaft needed to be replaced. The part was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v261000 (power train). The failure mileage was 77,883.

I have a 2010 hyundai santa fe and since i bought it 2 years ago when i start it and let it warm up then i put in reverse it jerks violentlythen i would put it in drive and it was in neutral then another violent jerk to drive. While driving it will change gears very rough like some hit me . I know hyundai knows of this problem and doesn't expand the recall . I checked my vin # and no recall on the transmissionjust a hand full .

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop light, the vehicle suddenly would not drive forward. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 167,000.

Since the day i purchased this car, the transmission bangs hard when shifting gears occasionally. I have had it into the shop 3 or 4 times but they keep telling me they tested it and it's fine. Now i'm almost out of my warranty and i'm afraid they transmission is going to go. I read that i'm not the only one complaining about this.what is being done about this?

When traveling at different speeds and upon acceleration there's loss of power for a split second, and then it's bumping real hard. It can be described as a bumping noise, clunking noise or thumping noise. More likely to happen between 50-70 mph. Also, the passenger back door lock has been working off and on. It finally has stopped opening the door entirely. I've taken it to the dealer and they have yet to diagnose an issue after two inspections. As of 7/21/20 the vehicle is still having these issues.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated when shifting gears from drive to reverse, she heard an abnormal noise. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact called the local dealer inver grove hyundai located at 1290 50th st e, inver grove heights, mn 55077, (888) 706-5928, and the dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been diagnosed nor repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 11v261000 (power train) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.

We purchased the vehicle 7 months ago with just over 62k miles. The vehicle will not go faster than 30 on the road. Dealership did a diagnostic and told us we need to replace the transmission and cd axle.after research there was a recall on this model's transmission.ours was built 3 months after the recall but is doing the same thing.safety issue and a quality hyundai should stand behind and repair.we have the diagnostic report from the dealership.

In nov 2012 after purchasing the vehicle used with 38,000 miles, we notice the transmission was not shifting properly. Took the vehicle to shortline hyundai in aurora, co. To have them inspect the vehicle and test drive. They were unable to find any issues with the vehicle during their inspection, no codes. We still noticed the issue for the next few years. Fast forward to nov. 2014 - we decided to try another dealership in centennial, co. Arapahoe hyundai. The vehicle had 52,000 at this point. They confirmed the transmission had a harsh engagement in higher gears, still no codes. They stated the fluid was low and topped off the fluid. Through the following years the issue was still present. Feb 2018 the extended warranty expires and the issue at this point is very noticeable. 5th gear would hesitate up sifting to 6th gear, along with a delayed reaction on a downshift from 5th to 4th. Once the downshift engaged there was a hardband into 4th.june 2018, 79,850 miles - feeling brushed off by the local hyundai dealers, we decided to take the vehicle to a local independent repair shop. The transmission fluid was in need of change, so we changed the fluid. The fluid change eased the harsh shifting slightly. As of today feb. 2020, 91,150 miles - the transmission need to be replaced at our expense. The vehicle drive fine until it hits 5th gear. The downshift is now very hesitant with an extreme bang once it engages 4th. There has been an known issue with the transmission, which is a safety concern. Hyundai has known about this issue but refused to do anything about it, other than putting a band-aid on the issue.

Vehicle has 107k mi and automatic transmission needs to be replaced (symptoms: upshifting lag and "thunk" when downshifting at 15-25mph). According to dealer, it can not be re-built due to design and must be replaced. Car has been very well-cared for and driven less than 10,000/mi/yr for the last 8+ years. There was a recall on some 2010 santa fe transmissions but dealer says ours was not impacted. We feel that a transmission that fails after 107k gentle miles must have a design flaw.

Mostly shifting into first gear or backing up , you get a very hard bang , as if you hit something. City street mostly turning.

My transmission blew up,no warning no indication when i called the dealer and gave them my vin number they said there was no recall on my truck on the trans the only recall is on the reverse light, so where do i go from hear.

My 2010 hyundai sante fe gls transmission periodically slips and then clunks into the next highest gear with a force that shakes the car.this force translates into a banging sound.each incident happened at speeds of 20-25 mph and shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear.i am very concerned about the safety of this car since i don't know when the transmission will finally fail completely.i believe the car should be recalledfor this potential safety hazard.

Since purchased new in 2011, vehicle has stalled, losing power without warning in 6 separate incidents. Road surfaces were level and speeds ranged from 0-50 mph. During each malfunction, speed decreased to 0 mph or did not accelerate if already at 0 mph. Loss of speed is accompanied by presence of engine, battery, and oil indicator lights. I am able to shift from drive to park mode, completely turn off engine, and restart ignition. Vehicle appears to operate normally after each incident until next one occurs. All but two incidents occurred intermittently months apart on metropolitan interstate highways with heavy traffic conditions. Two most recent incidents occurred on same day within minutes of each other. Every time vehicle was taken to authorized dealer for evaluation, typically within hour of incident, technicians have been unable to duplicate problem or diagnose malfunction. Consequently, vehicle has not been repaired.according to 4 authorized dealers and hyundai consumer affairs, trouble code is necessary to repair malfunction. Two authorized dealers have evaluated vehicle without diagnosing malfunction. Neither has been able to duplicate problem or find trouble code, despite maintaining possession of vehicle for days. Based on my history of complaints about same safety concern, however, techline advised authorized dealer to replace electric throttle control motor: procedure done in october 2013, yet stalling/loss of power occurred again--twice--in april 2014. Sporadically recurring malfunction remains unresolved. I have two separate cases filed with hyundai consumer affairs. Vehicle is under warranty, up-to-date on maintenance, and has accumulated relatively low mileage to date at approximately 37,000 miles.**4/16/2014**stalled/lost power twice, 2-3 minutes between incidents. Towed to authorized dealer; currently awaiting instructions from techline.

I was accelerating while entering traffic from a side street and the computer for the transmission put the transmission in neutral.i lost power as the engine rpm spiked up.the transmission was still in drive and the transmission did not engage again until i took my foot off the accelerator and then reapplied it.aside from this problem being a vehicle defect, this situation could have caused an accident.i have taken the vehicle into the dealership twice for this problem since the end of july.the first time i took it in the dealership was able to reproduce the defect but they could not reproduce the defect the second time.unfortunately this type of failure does not show up in the cars computer.each time the car was returned to the dealership the transmission software was updated and the car was driven for a period of time as a relearning exercise.obviously this did not correct the problem and without a failure code in the computer to pinpoint the problem the dealership is unsure which computer or component needs to be corrected.with this defect this vehicle should not be on the road because of the risk of an accident.

When operating the vehicle during colder temperatures after start up the transmission "sticks" in a low gear and ultimately releases and thrusts forward with a loud bang. This happens constantly and i have brought itto the dealer who has stated there is no problem. This is a hazard and may cause potential loss of control.

Driving santa fe at 55mph and it slowed to a stop. Transmision was out of gear and would not re-engage. Can not drive vehicle now as it will not go into gear

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe.while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact stated that the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. He also noticed that the rpms would increase and decrease without applying pressure to the accelerator pedal. The dealer made four attempts to duplicate the failure.the manufacturer advised the contact that since the computer did not display any error codes then they were unable to diagnose the failure or repair the vehicle. The current mileage wasapproximately 18,000. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.the vin was unavailable.

The car makes a jerking sound when switching from park to drive or reverse when it's hot. It also jerks like it doesn't know what gear to go into while driving on occasions.

Purchased vehicle brand new: transmission shifts violently when cold also misses gears when up/down shifting. I brought the vehicle back to the dealer multiple times starting when it only had 3,000 miles. I was told there was nothing wrong with vehicle. Took the vehicle to a different dealership, they indicated a software update need to be done to address the shifting problem. Update was completed, results were the same. Transmission still shifts violently. Don't know what else to do ???

The vehicle was delivered in 01/2010, shortly after we noticed shuttering in the transmission and hard shifts from 2-3 3rd gear, at 7800 mile we took the car back to there dealer who stated they were unable to recreate. They changed the shift settings of the ecu and was told nothing to be done, the problem continued with multiple visits to the dealer, 2 weeks ago they replaced the transmission with a remanafactured unit, lastnight the new transmission exploded and it felt like a bomb went off under the hood there was transmission fluid everywhere and the and horrible grinding sound was noted. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer for repair and we are still awaiting word. This problem needs to be fixed before someone dies.

Purchased new a 2010 hyundai santa fe, se.the problem that occurs randomly every few days is when accelerating slowly at around 20-30 mph and the transmission slips out of 2nd gear effectively putting the transmission in neutral for about 1 second, and then will hard shift into 3rd gear making a loud bang noise. It can feel as though i was rear ended. This problem has been occurring since new and has been taken to the dealer multiple times where there the problem could not be replicated. This is the same complaint as with about 10% of the 140 or so complaints on the nhtsa site for this year and model. There are at least 2 and possibly more tsb's that appear to address this problem (tsb-10-at-006, 12-at-012, 12-at-009-2). I will attempt to address the problem again with the dealer asking him to review these specific tsb's. After so many complaints about a very specific problem to a vital drivetrain component, it is time for hyundai to take ownership of this problem and fix it!the consumer should not have to go through so much hassle for a widely known issue. How many more people have this problem and don't take the time to report it?

It looks like the santa fe 2010 had a recall for their transmissions for some of the vins.perhaps they should expand the recall to other vins as my car has 55,000 miles on it and there are signs that the transmission is having trouble.it has been used lightly and never used to tow anything.i am the second owner, so the 10 year/100,000 is not valid anymore.i don' t think the transmission should fail at 55,000 miles for gentle driving.i think the recall should expand to some of the other vins.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. When the vehicle was shifted from park to drive, there was a hesitation and the vehicle accelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics to be diagnosed. The mechanics were unable to duplicate the failure or produce a fault code for the failure. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v261000 (power train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 84,999.updated 09/23/16*lj

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while stopped with the gear in reverse, the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact had to place the vehicle in neutral and back into reverse in order for the vehicle to reverse without failure. The contact noticed an abnormal sound when switching gears. The vehicle also stalled when being driven at low speeds. The failure was recurring.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis three times however, the technicians were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.

Dealer reflashed (upgraded?) the computer during an unrelated door lock repair. Afterwards, the transmission disengages at low speed/coasting, then reengages violently. When requested to restore the computer to the original factory program, the dealer said it cannot be done. There have been subsequent reflashes installed to improve the situation, but to no avail. Dealer says "the computer just has to learn my driving habits". It's a dangerous situation when you're not aware of the disengagement, the engine rpm increases, then a sudden engagement occurs.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. There was no warning light illuminated. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact mentioned nhtsa campaign number: 11v261000 (power train) as a possible solution to the failure however, the vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

I have a 2010 hyundai santa fe.the transmission slips and i get a hard shift with a loud bang when shifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd.it seems to do this when the transmission is cold but it does it even when warm.i had mine in 3 times for repair with a new transmission on the last repair.the new transmission is the same as the original one. Hyundai knows about this and they knew about when i bought the car. I should have been notified when i was buying the car - not finding out after the fact.the dealer gives me the deer in the headlights look when i complain about this like they have never heard about it before.

I have a 2010 hyundai santa fe awd.we bought the car with 8 miles.after one week we started to notice a banging sound when the car would shift at low speeds, sometimes it was so severe the car would jerk forward violently.we have taken it to the local dealer twice and they tell us there is nothing wrong.today my wife was coming home from work and slowed down to let some kids cross the street, as she was slowing the car banged and jerked forward so violently she thought she was going to lose control and hit one of the kids!i was just looking online for other complaints and there are a lot, complaining about the same problem.something needs to be done about this, or someone is going to be killed!!!by the way, thanks for the honda odyssey brake recall, i sent in a complaint about that, you folks are great! thanks for your time.

I have a 2010 hyundai santa fe, gls.while driving it, the transmission broke.i was able to maneuver, and pull over. It did not move at all.it just happened without any warnings or previous problems, noises, etc.it has 21,082 miles / 7months of use.

On my 2010 hyundai santa fe, the transmission intermittently slips, then slams intogear with such force that the vehicle lurches forward, and feels like you are being rear-ended.there are numerous other reports of this happening, however hyundaihas not issued a recall for same, and the dealer has been unable to fix the issue.

Hyundai sante fe 2010 was purchased new in february 2010.within 3 months the vehicle stalled and died twice while in route.and displayed difficulty up-shifting and down=shifting, 1st - 3rd and 3rd - 1st.returned to service dept of dealer. Service dept unable to determine cause of incidents.within 2-3 months post these incidents, the vehicle "clanged and banged"and continued problems with acceleration and shifting gears.also began an intermittentloud "vacuum cleaner" noise during gear changes.returned vehicle to dealer service center and after 4 hour review, was informed the transmission would need to be replaced.when the vehicle was reported as repaired, and was required to be picked-up, no statement or document was provided to indicate repairs or damages.not until the dealership and manufacturer were contacted was the statement offered, one week later.haven't seen the statement yet as it will be accessed through the dealer this week. I was informed the vehicle was repaired by replacing the current defective transmission with the a new same-model transmission.what is that about?replace the defective transmission with a newerdefective model, i don't think so!i am a widow with one car to drive for work.in my line of work, i am alone on the road several weeks a year.please can you assist me with this issue?thank you for your consideration.

New 2010 hyundai santa fe--after approx 3 weeks ownership, car tries to go into reverse, makes loud noise, when started.does not happen every time, maybe 3-4 times a week.also have "miss" /"jerk" when car shifts at slow speed from 2nd to 3rd gear-vehicle has been to dealer 3 times for problems--first two trips dealer said they could not duplicate-trans shifter cable adjusted last trip to dealer but problem persists--.

2010 santa fe.i get a loud knock (which jerks the vehicle) every so often when i start the vehicle.the dealer cannot find anything with it.i also get a pause at times going from 2nd to 3rd gear in my automatic transmission.dealer refilled transmission fluid which seems to have helped that a little, but it still jerks at times while shifting gears.the knock has not stopped however.just happened again yesterday which is at least the 15th time it has happened since we bought it in march.i have talked with others who have a 2010 santa fe and they say they have experienced the same problem.all of it seems to be a transmission issue to me, but the dealer says they cannot find anything.not normal, and definitely should not happen with a new vehicle.i really like the vehicle outside of that.

My problem is with a 2010 hyundai santa fe, 4 cyl. The problem is that the vehicle sometimes hesitates to move forward, and then suddenly accelerates.it happens when the vehicle is stopped as in traffic. When the accelerator is depressed the vehicle does not immediately move forward, and then it suddenly moves forward very quickly.i have reported this problem three times to my dealer. They had a " factory" service mgr ride with me for about a half hour. The problem did not happen. It has happened unexpectedly many times since then. I was almost in a serious accident from this problem. The dealer put the car on the diagnostic machine and finds no problem. Today a friend of mine who has a gas station in asheville, nc had a customer ask him about the exact same problem with the identical vehicle. I spoke with the individual and his problem is exactly the same as mine ! that is why i am writing to your office. I have filed a complaint with hyundai [xxx] but the problem continues. I will be happy to let the gov test my vehicle. It is a safety hazard. My daughter had the same experience and said she would not drive it any more.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I bought a pre-owned 2010 hyundai santa fe on 12/13/10 with ~14k milesi was driving to phoenix today 12/25/10 and when leaving a stop light there was a clunk and then my transmission went out.after doing research today i have found that 2010 santa fe's have issue with their transmission but no recalls have been issued.me and my 13 year old daughter are now stranded in phoenix until we can get it repaired.please push for a recall so this stops happening to people and hyundai corrects this problem once and for all.

As the engine starts with the gear shift in "park", the 2010 sante fe lurches forward as if the transmission has not disengaged.the forward lurch ranges from a sensation of motion to an inch of tire rotation. Furthermore, this happens again when the vehicle is in motion when idling between 1200-1500 rpm and when accelerator is released and pressed again at around 20 mph to 25 mph. It has happened at speeds as high as 40 to 45 mph. It feels like someone bumped into me from behind. In one instance i quickly applied the brakes assuming i was rear-ended.

With a cold engine in the morning, my 2010 hyundai sante fe vehicle transmission shifts with a loud "bang" around 10mph. This is sporadic. Also at start up, the vehicle while sitting in park, does the same thing when started, though not as forceful at when driving. I now have 4800 miles, and this has been happening every 2 or 3 weeks minimum. I used to think little of it until it has begun repeating even after the dealer "reset" the software. I also notice now there are several auto websites very aware of the problem. Here is one: http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f127d3d/199. I am scheduled to leave the car this week, and they are not acknowledging a problem unless they can duplicate it. I feel this is an unsafe condition to operate the vehicle in, and that it will only get worse. I will file a lemon law claim after 2 more attempts to fix this extremely obvious problem.

2010 hyundai sante fe awd transmission issue.immediately upon starting, while car is in park, car idles high, wants to lurch backward, but is "caught" by the fact that it is still in park.makes a loud bang sound when this happens - almost like something in the frame or elsewhere in car catches it. Then, when putting in gear, it idles high and accelerates very quickly without foot on gas.need to keep foot securely on brake for safety.hyundai denies a problem when it is brought in for service.other hyundai santa fe drivers indicate problem is with transmission and gets worse over time, including having stalls while in traffic,, unexpected acceleration, car won't shift in 2nd and 3rd gears.please get hyundai to address this problem and issue a recall.

I have a 2010 hyundai santa fe limited and within a couple weeks of owning the vehicle noticed transmission problems.at first, i thought it was something that i was doing, but then my husband drove it and said the same thing.between the speeds of 10-40 mph, the transmission shifts hard between 2nd and 3rd gear and occasionally between 1st and 2nd gear as if it gets stuck.it does it when upshifting and even when downshifting.it happens constantly, when the vehicle is cold, when it's warm, every day.i mentioned it to the dealership when i took it in for an oil change and of course they could not replicate the problem and can't do anything until they can replicate the issue.i guess i'll just keep mentioning it whenever i take it in for service and hope that eventually they will do something about it.it is very frustrating since the vehicle was brand new.*ln

On a large number of occasions, the transmission of my 2010 hyundai santafe awd would slip into neutral as it went through the gears. That is when the car was still relatively cool as in the morning, it would start off in first, shift to second and then on some occasions slip into neutral. With a little on and off on the accelerator it would then go into third and then shift normally.the only times that it would happen was when the transmission oil was still cold.hyundai changed the transmission computer per a service bulletin.when the condition reappeared it then offered to replace the transmission in its entirety.this seems to have solved the problem.my concern would be that if it did happen when one entered a line of traffic. This certainly could have created a dangerous situation.till the situation was resolved, it happened on a significant number of occasions.hyundai was responsive to the problem, and seems to have tried to address the problem.the vehicle has approximately 10,000 miles at this time.it was purchased new in april and the problem began in june. That at least is when we first observed it.

2010 hyundai santa fe v6 awd limited i put the key in the ignition to start it, and the vehicle lunged forward approximately 6 inches. The vehicle was in park when i started it. Luckily my foot was near the brake, so i instinctively slammed on the brake. I do not know how far it would have gone if i had not depressed the brake pedal. Luckily the vehicle in front of me was far enough away, also lucky that there was nobody walking between my vehicle. I looked on a hyundi forum and there several complaint'sthe dealer said they could not find anything wrong i asked them to contact the factory and they did not have any complaint'sonthe same problem .i told them to look at your web site and the forum.i am a auto mechanic and i can tell you if the park paw that's holds the car in place lets go after constantly getting pulled awaywhen this happensthe truck can take off and hurt/kill somebodyplease help!!!!! thank you

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the transmission seemed to grab or drop. When he reversed and then shifted into drive, he noticed a clunking noise when accelerating. He noticed the failure everyday when he first drove for that day. The contact explained the failure when he took the vehicle to the dealer for an oil change but the vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000 and the current mileage was approximately 8,000.

2010 hyundai santa fe v6 awd limitedi put the key in the ignition to start it, and the vehicle lunged forward approximately 6 inches.the vehicle was in park when i started it.luckily my foot was near the brake, so i instinctively slammed on the brake.i do not know how far it would have gone if i had not depressed the brake pedal.luckily the vehicle in front of me was far enough away, also lucky that there was nobody walking between my vehicle and the one in front of mine.i took it to sport hyundai dodge, they were very nice.they put it on their computer scanner, and of course it did not come up with any problem codes. Luckily i do not have remote start on this vehicle, because who knows where the vehicle might end up.i was also lucky that i was actually seated in the vehicle and not leaning in to start it.hopefully this was a fluke situation and will never happen again.however, i will have to remember to start this vehicle with the brake depressed if there is something in front of my vehicle.toyota depended on their computers too, which never came up with any error codes either, and they thought the customer was at fault, and look where it got them!

Problems with my 2010 hyundai santa fe with 11,000 miles. Like hundreds of others my car bangs when starting and bangs so bad while trying to shift gears when cold that i thought i was hit from behind. When driving slow the transmission shifts so hard that my wife is afraid to drive this new veh. After reading about all the problems others are having on edmonds.com i thought i would e-mail you people. The way, reps at the dealership i bought say that this is normal, i have to laugh.

I have a 2010 hyundai santa fe. I have been having problems with it shifting. It will shift really hard and sometimes when i go to give it the gas it will rev to 4rpms before it goes then it bangs in to gear. I have it back to the dealership a few times and they tell me they can not replicate the problem. This is being to be really frustrating. I have had much patience with the dealership, but when the say they put it onto the computer and can not get a code and there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. I am getting afraid to drive the car. I don't know what more to do. Is there anyone out there that has the same problem and has had it fixed so i can tell the dealership?

2010 hyundai sant fe, se v6 3.5 awd. There is a gear clanging noise in the transmission when the vehicle is first started up. This occurs about every third time the vehicle is started. Vehicle is rocked by the movement. Dealer could not duplicate problem ' nothing done.

Oct 2010 first incident- with a cold engine in the morning while traveling between 20-40 mph my 2010 6 cyl hyundai santa fe lurched forward with a loud bang as if we were hit from behind.we had 6230 miles on vehicle. Over the next 2 days the same thing happened several times not as severe as the first incident.after checking the internet found many reports of similar incidents. Brought to dealer who denied hearing of this problem, kept overnight, couldn't duplicate problem and reset adaptive learning and reset driving history.problem started again march 2011on march 8, 2011 brought to dealer kept overnight, couldn't duplicate problem found transmission fluid low, reset transmission, did an update they said was related to a computer module that was related to the problem.vehicle had 10,000 miles. Called hyundai consumer affairs and had a case opened to document problem as i may have to go through new york lemon law if they don't fix problem. March 15, 2011 tramsmission problem back again called hyundai consumer affairs and had them reopen case and another appointment scheduled with dealer on march 23, 2011 to test drive with tech and service manager.this will be third attempt to fix transmission problem.

The vehicle stops or stalls on shifting from first to second gear.it has just died merging into traffic from a stop sign and i have been forced to roll to the shoulder.it will not always pull up an incline from a stop such as a steeper driveway. I have been successful to "fix' this by shifting into neutral and then back in gear.this problem is well documented in the hyundai forums on line.

I just purchased a 2010 hyundai santa fe today and it seems like the transmission is shifting hard between gears.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. While driving approximately 25 mph the contact took her foot off of the accelerator pedal and was coasting. When the contact applied pressure to the accelerator pedal the rpms increased and there was a hard bump and a shutter felt inside the vehicle. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times. The transmission adapter was reset, the keep alive memory and adaptive values were cleared, and an ecu update was performed. The failure continued to occur. The contact wastaking the vehicle to the dealer a forth time for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 7,889.updated 5/9/11 the consumer stated there was a harsh shift between 20-30 mph. The consumer stated the vehicle has been to the dealer six times for the same problem and the transmission was replaced twice.updated 08/17/11.

Vehicle sometimes makes a loud bang at startup. Haven't observed any sudden jerks while vehicle is in motion but wondering if this "banging" problem will lead to a transmission failure while vehicle is in motion. 2010 hyundai santa fe limited 3.5 l v6 awd.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe.the contact was driving 25 mph when she heard an unusual noise. Immediately, the vehicle gauges began to shake. The contact moved the vehicle off the roadway. As she resumed driving and reached 25 mph, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where a diagnostic was performed and it was determined that the transmission was defective and would need to be replaced.the manufacturer offered to replace the transmission with a rebuilt transmission.the contact was not certain if the rebuilt transmission would repair the failure.the current and failure mileage was approximately 3,700.

Safety: 2010 hyundai santa fe engine seems to race at slow speeds/coasting, then automatic transmission "skips" then "slams" back into gear. Brought back into dealership twice, first was told they had heard of a similar issue but that it was "within tolerance" so it was not fixed, when it happened again and before starting a long trip i took it back and had their senior tech drive it home (to see if cold starting could be a contributor) they "reprogrammed" the transmission and told us it would be in "learning mode" for the next few thousand miles. Problem has happened twice more in heavy traffic. Want to take it back for repair but need some help in telling them what (and obviously from the online forums) how widespread this issue is.

I have a 2010 hyundai santafe with 6900 miles. Three times in the last weekthe vehicle would not shift and then it would slam into gear making a banging sound and would surge forward. It was like being hit from behind. Each incident occurred at speeds of 20-25mph while accelerating. I am very concerned about my safety when driving this vehicle.

Brand new 2010 hyundai santa fe intermittently lurches forward and reverse when started up in park. Appears as if starting up "in gear" when in park.

2010 hyundai santa fe. Transmission problems. "lurches" from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. Loud clanking sound when starting (not on all starts, about every 7-10 starts). Slow speed sputters. Slips at slow speeds when accelerating then slams into gear very roughly.

I have the 2010 santa fe banging problem - started about a month after i bought it only happens about 1 per week - dealer claimed they never heard of it before - looked at me like i was some sort of crazy fool. I described it as --it feels like someone bumped into me from behind - the first few times it happened wife & i actually looked out of the back window expecting to see the car that had rammed us.i really figured the car was going into gear or something - mine is the awd model - i thought maybe it was sending some power to the rear wheels.for about a week every time i would leave home & start the santa fe i would look under the vehicle - then one day it happened as i was looking under.the engine starts - then the vehicle shakes to the point the muffler bangs into the rear of the frame - that is what makes it feel like something hitting the back end.have just started to notice a strange feeling - normally would only happen when we were leaving home - and slowly turning the corner on our street - when the transmission shifts from 1-2 it was like the road was a washboard.today it did the same thing coming home on a 2-3 shift.i talked to hyundai customer service when i had the car in for service and thedealer could find nothing wrong - they offer no help - the old - if it does not register a code on the computer or unless the dealer can duplicate the problem - we will not do anything.per hyundai customer service i am the only person in the world with these problems but i go online and find hundreds of people with the same problem. At very slow speeds when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd it will bang or shift so hard it feels like the car was rear ended...

Brand new2010 hyundai santa fe limited 6 speed auto transmission. Vehicle sometimes makes a loud bang from transmission at start up. Vehicle lurches forward when started up in park. Also loud band when engaging reverse. Has a problem shifting sometimes from 2nd to 3rd gear,a slight hesitation sometimes. Car has also died on me for no reason when pulling out of a junction. Will be taken the vehicle to my local hyundai dealer asap. Love the vehicle but seriously worried with the transmission issues. Most of the issues are happening daily apart from the stalling issue which has only occurred once.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. While driving 25 mph, the transmission would throw itself into gear with a hard bang as if it were hit from the rear. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who reset the computer; the banging stopped for a while. The failure occurred again but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer had not been notified. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000 and the current mileage is approximately 10,000. Updated 01/18/11 updated 01/31/11

We purchased 2010 hyundai santa fe almost from the start we notice an occasion she would bang into gear while driving in 30 - 40 mph traffic and stops. After numerous trips to dealer their answer was they couldn't duplicate. The last 2 trips to the dealer i explained if you drive in stop & go traffic moving about 30-40 mph you will feel the bang like you have been rear ended. I was told the cannot test for that period of time they reflash the computer. Then listed it as unable to duplicate andset up n appointment with a factory rep. For december 15,2010 @10:30am. My wife will not currently take her parents for treatments at the medical center because the bang startles here parents and she fears a breakdown. Unacceptable for a car less than one year old.

Bought our 2010 santa fe with 2700 miles (the owners wife had been driving it) on november 11th.almost immediately i noticed that it banged loudly and lurched somewhat upon going from reverse to drive. It does it at any time of day so it's not limited to cold starts. Brought into dealership where they tested and reset the computer.my service manager seemed to be aware of the obvious problems the transmission is having. Then was told it was my transmission and they ordered a replacement. I asked if it would be new or rebuilt, they said new. Then i was told it was policy to put in rebuilt. It only has 5000 miles on it!after some conversation, they agreed to put a new transmission in it.they still have my vehicle-over a week now and i might not get it back for another week.still don't have the part.....so we'll see when we get it back.

Transmission slams into gear, also slips into gear and sometimes moves when in park.

2010 hyundai sante fe transmissions bangs into gear between 1-2giving a feeling as if someone has rear ended your car .it also has a rocking motion while driving. Mostly does this first thing in the morning but will also do it randomly. Call hyundai and they claim that they do not have any knowledge of a trend on transmission problemwith the sante fe. I took car to dealership for them to look at and left it overnight they could not find any problem. At my suggestion they reflashed the computer and it helped for a week and now the car does the same thing banging/learching into 2 gear.

I have a 2010 hyundai santa fe.sometimes when it shifts from 1st to 2nd it feels like another vehicle has rear-ended me.it happens a lot when the santa fe is cold, but it has happened at other times also.it will also hesitate as it goes from one gear to the next.i have had it to the dealer twice (once i left it over night so they would have it when it was cold) and of course it didn't do it for them.when the transmission hesitates the tachometer will go between 3000 and 4000 rpm, and then lurch violently as it becomes "unstuck."every time i go to the dealership for an oil change or any other work, i mention the transmission problem.the last time i was there the technician said they contacted hyundai and was told that is normal.that is not normal.i received a questionnaire from hyundai about my santa fe and again mentioned the transmission problem.i never heard from them.i have read other owners have had the same problem and hyundai will not acknowledge that there is a problem.

My 2010 santa fe on occasion will lurch forward when started, and makes a thud sound from the transmission when this happens. This started when the car had about 1500 miles on it. Then at about 5000 miles, when starting outit shifts from 1st to 2nd very hard, enough to nearly get a whiplash and feels like i have been hit from behind. I told the mechanic at the dealer and he said he would do the recall which had been ordered for another problem, and maybe that would help. It did not help. It has happened several times since then.

Started car to back up out of driveway. Car jumped a little. Continued on road and felt little jumping at random. Went slow and tried to brake and accelorate to understand trigger. Turned around after 1.5 mile to head back home. A few yards in the car made loud dropping sound and grinding and scraping and would not accelarate. So loud i thought the bottom came out. People pushed it into parking lot for me. Aaa towed it to dealer. 24 hours later told it was a transmission problem. 24 hours after that told they are replacing with new transmission. Asked if this would trigger any future problems and they claim no.

2010 hyundai santa fe. Consumer writes in regards to recall related to damage to the transmission causing loss of motive power*tgwthe consumer stated she was not notified about the recall.the consumer stated she only found out about the recall, when the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership after it suddenly stopped on a six lane highway and would not engage. Upon inspection of the vehicle, it was determined the transmission had been destroyed and damaged the axle. The vehicle was repaired at no charge to the consumer.

For no reason the car will stall and all steering and brake functions are disabled. Happens when stopped or while driving. Car has to be put in park and restarted. Very dangerous situation for my 17 year old daughter

My santa fe stalled while making a low speed right turn.no warning the steering became hard and instrument lights went on and engine off. Started right up afterwards. Immediately took it to the dealer who replace the throttle body and updated computer. No error codes.

Brake hard to stop even after pressing really hard down on them. Vehicle only slows down to 20mph when initially slam on the brake. I almost rear ended someone. I was only driving no more than 40 mph on a 50 mph zone. Brake feels really hard and does not work when slam on.

Brake pedal cannot hold pressure, creating dangerous situation in emergency braking.brought car to dealer on november 29 for warranty repair.dealer found master cylinder has internal leak.replaced master cylinder and re-bled the system.

Tie rod and front suspension.when turning it makes a clunking sound . I've had to get suspension and toe road changed 3 times within 6 months

While driving near 40 mph, steering pulls to the left during acceleration.

My santa fe stalled while making a low speed right turn.no warning the steering became hard and instrument lights went on and engine off. Started right up afterwards. Immediately took it to the dealer who replace the throttle body and updated computer. No error codes.

Warning: while turning left into my driveway (in motion), my 2010 santa fe steering suddenly locked up and i drove onto my lawn. Very scary and this was without warning! simply meaning, if the power steering pump was the issue, there would be noise and a gradual failure; however, this was very sudden. As of this writing, the steering is very difficult and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. Thank god i have an extended warranty and now it is in the shop for diagnoses. This problem needs to be addressed!!!

For no reason the car will stall and all steering and brake functions are disabled. Happens when stopped or while driving. Car has to be put in park and restarted. Very dangerous situation for my 17 year old daughter

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that she noticed scratches on her vehicle which suddenly turned into rust within a couple of days. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised her that they were unable to diagnose the failure and that it was just paint damage. The manufacturer was contacted as well and advised her to call her insurance company. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.

The vehicle has a humming sound coming from right side passenger side when driven 10 mph in cold weather.the vehicle was taken to hyundai and because it could not be reproduced there was no further investigation.i was told if it happens again, to bring the vehicle in.i have an appointment on 3/21/15.

In 2013 the drivers side rear door actuator mechanism was replaced (warranty). In october 2018, the front drivers side door actuator mechanism was replaced, and the passenger side rear door actuator mechanism was replaced. Could not open door from the inside or outside.

The passenger rear door works off and on. Some days it opens and some days it doesn't and there is no damage to the door handle or the door itself. For the past month is has totally gave up on opening at all and there is still no damage to the handle or the door.

While driving one morning, suddenly the passenger door just opened on its own.we could not get it to latch at all.i had to ride holding the door closed until we could get home to get bungee cords to hold it closed.this happened on a busy city street just going straight.and again when we turned, but we anticipated it and held the door shut.so l took it to the dealer the next morning (monday), and they said it was a door actuator and latch assembly.no vehicle should ever have a door that cannot latch!this is a terrifying incident.when they had to order the part, i told them to fix the door where it would not open when driving to and from work the next day.didn't work.going down the interstate with the door flopping back and forth--enough to allow fumes inside the vehicle and the dome light to remain on is not safe!!!after exiting the interstate during rush hour traffic, i grabbed the bungee cord that was inside and held the door closed while i drove the rest of the way home about 35 mph.i will have three more trips on this interstate-home tonight, to and from the dealer/work tomorrow, and hopefully it will be repaired.they say two other doors also need actuators.(to the tune of $400 each!)this should never happen on a modern day car.

The vehicle was serviced under a manufacturers recall where the dealer replaced the automatic transaxle oil cooler hoses and the clamps but the failure recurred. The contact stated that while making a turn, an abnormal thumping noise was heard. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the spring protector and the elastic sealant needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 196,390.

The driver side door will not lock when shutting the door there for you can not open the drivers door with the outside handle. You need to open the door from the inside and lock the door before you shut it or it will not stay shut.

Rear tires exhibit extensive "cupping" which suggests defective suspension parts at the rear of the vehicle.inferior parts or design are suspected as the defect appears bilaterally.

Front spring broke.creates potential to cause loss of control at highway speeds. Read many instances of this on hyundai vehicles.company only replaces broken spring, refusing to change out other side proactively.

Front driver's side coil spring has broken at 60000 miles.prior service campaign 926 - spring protector installation had been performed at 8600 miles.the broken spring was first noticed after experiencing low frequency rattling noise while going over bumps.

I've had the brakes replaced, alignment done, rotors checked, and it still shakes like something isn't right, and it's scaring me, i'm handicap, and i feel like my front end is gonna come apart or my car is gonna flip, when i'm driving down the road it's doing just fine but when i go to press on my brakes to slow down my car is shaking like i'm going through an earthquake or tornado, and it also seems to have this problem like when you push push the gas to get speed so you could jump on the highway it like jerks a little better she is a little hard to be able to catch up and it's never done that before

Tie rod and front suspension.when turning it makes a clunking sound . I've had to get suspension and toe road changed 3 times within 6 months

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would make a loud clanking noise from the rear end. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 76,000.

Right front axle. .tire rod broke and i crashed intoa building.it'sthe right front sidethat is defective.

I was driving over a set of well kept railroad tracks at a low speed when i heard a loud bang.i subsequently discovered my drivers front spring broke.this also destroyed my tire from the car basically collapsing onto it while i drove to a place i could safely park.hyundai refused to see my car until the next week so i had my local tire place fix the broken spring along with replacing the other side as i was now terrified that the same thing would happen on the other side.hyundai corporate refused to cover my expenses as the local dealer did not do thework.the tire store said they see this all time from cheap chinese steel used.this could have been a catastrophe had i been in heavy traffic or driving at a high rate of speed and i believe this needs to be examined as hyundai in 2011 had put sometime of membrane on my springs to prevent rust per a recall.

While driving heard a load noise in the front left of the car, then a rubbing noise. Upon inspection it was determined that the front left spring coil had broken. The tip of the broken spring was right up against my tire. If driven any further the spring could have shredded the tire and caused an accident.

Tire pressure light comes on and off.went to dealer four times on this issue and was advised that this is normal as the tire pressure sensor can be affected by high voltage power lines, radio frequency from an airport, a policy station, an internal electronic device attached, etc. Etc.however, understand from my friends who drive toyota and honda that this issue does not exist.

Since purchasing a new 2010 hyundai sante fe awd in may 2010, there has been a problem with it's tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) in november 2010 and a reoccurrence now in february 2011. I was so upset that i wrote the manufacturer directly and its now being overseen by the hyundai east coast regional office--but still no resolution.

I have a 2010 santa fe with 19k miles.....twice this week i was driving and suddenly the gas pedal stopped working and engine light came on. Brakes worked, thank goodness.anyone else have "sudden unintended deceleration"??after the first event, i had it towed to the dealer (following protocol in the manual). They reported a new recall (it had been serviced a few months ago), executed a computer update and all was fixed (or so i thought).4 days later, with less than 100 miles driven since the repair, it happened again. This time i was in 35mph traffic so when the accelerator pedal no longer worked, i almost was rear-ended. I was able to coast out of traffic (brakes and steering fine)to a side street. I was able to coast home (.5 mile or so). Car would accelerate after stop signs, although the gas pedal doesn't respond at all. Very scary that it even shifted to a higher gear and would go 30mph and keep accelerating if i didn't brake!the first repair info:1.

Paint is peeling on the left hood and roof of car near window.there has been no physical damage to cause peeling and flaking of paint

I have bought all my parts new and my car keep shutting off while im driving.on the road i can be in traffic and it shuts off or at the light and it do the same thing or i can drive like 10 seconds it shuts off.

The vehicle has a humming sound coming from right side passenger side when driven 10 mph in cold weather.the vehicle was taken to hyundai and because it could not be reproduced there was no further investigation.i was told if it happens again, to bring the vehicle in.i have an appointment on 3/21/15.

My 2010 hyundai santa fe white pearl paint started peeling 3 years ago and has accelerated rapidly in the past few months. I have 2 large spots on the hood getting bigger every day, lifting on the door handles several spots on the side panels and now a very large patch over the windshield. This is a known issue with tons of owners sharing similar stories all over the internet. Please advise of any options available to join a class action suit or get hyundai to step up and repair this mess!

Whenever i look up the recalls my engine type has recalls but every system says none for my vin. I think it's because i have awd/4wd. However, everything else is the same. I had to replace the catalytic converter, the dealer said at the time they were replacing them for 2wd. Not mine $2000. Now there are transmission issues that will be covered for 2wd with the same engine type i have but not mine. Because i have 4wd this is not right i'm having all the same issues. Can your agency get then to add my vin# or 4wd to the list? with the catalytic converter my car would jerk when i tried to accelerate. Most of the time it wouldn't speed up it would just jerk. With the transmission i stopped going up the freeway entrance ramp on i10 headed east. The car was sluggish barely moving. I was barely able to get to the side, half my car out in the way. It has not moved since. It won't drive forward or backward. The tow man only neutral works. He pushed it into a parking spot after it was towed. I had a mechanic come to look at it. He said transmission issues. Also, the electric is crazy the key clicker and the door locks, work when it wants to.

The problem is that the vehicle sometimes hesitates to move forward, and then suddenly accelerates quickly and roughly. It happens when the vehicle is stopped as in traffic. It sometimes makes a clunking noice, it feels like someone hit me from behind.i have taken it to the dealership before a couple years ago, when this happened and they re-programmed it. It was fine for awhile then it happened again, so i took it to the dealership again, they did an inspectionā€¦.they are saying now it needs a $1300 part, it will cost over $1600.

On 6/17/2018 @ approximately 5:00pm while driving my santa fe, i began to have surging power. I attempted to disengage the cruise control but could not. I would slow down only to speed right back up as if i had pushed the resume button, i had not. I attempted to shift into neutral however my geer shifter was locked into drive & i couldn't get the shifter out of drive. At times the car would start to slow down after pu mping the breaks only to have a surge of power again. As i was driving, i came up to a sharp curve & wasn't able to slow down therefore i ended up rolling the suv & further slamming to a large hill. I was injured in this accident due to rolling my car! this happened bc i believe the cruise control got stuck & locked up my transmission!!! i also couldn't turn the key off since the car was in drive.

In april 2019 the sunroof of my 2010 hyundai santa fe flew off. Replaced after $500 insurance deductible. On february 21, 2020 while traveling at around 65 miles an hour on i75 north, the same incident occurred on our 2010 hyundai sonata. Today i submitted a separate complaint for the sonata. Complaint 11312271. I decided to file both complaints today on both vehicles due to the fact that could have caused serious accidents on the highway and someone could get seriously hurt.

Pearl white paint flaking off. Originally thought this was caused by rock chips, however it is extremely apparent that the paint is simply flaking off.most flaking is quite small at the moment, however today noticed a larger area over the windshield.no accidents.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle hesitated before accelerating excessively. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The failure occurred on six different occasions. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that he attempted to accelerate from a complete stop and there was an abnormal 4 second delay before the vehicle responded. The malfunction recurred sporadically. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis, who was unable to generate a trouble code. The dealer performed an unknown repair however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000. The consumer stated the vehicle would randomly not respond to throttle pressure when turning from a resting stop.the dealer was unable to retrieve a code description from the vehicles obdii to correct the problem. They dealer replaced the awd module and performed an update for the vehicles accelerations response

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai sante fe. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle stalled. Additionally, while at a stop light the vehicle would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was engaged.the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of failure. 2001 hyundai santa fe lurches when gear is put to drive, or when driving at low or high speeds where it is worst (feeling that we just got rear ended). Started about 3 months ago. This happened before, about 3 to 4 years ago, and was diagnosed and have replaced the input/output speed control by the dealership. This seems to be a rampant problem that needs to be addressed soon because it is big safety issue.

Dec 16, 2011 around 9:45am my husband and i had just picked my sister and brother in law up from the airport and had decided on grabbing some breakfast from waffle house.i had come to a complete stop to turn right into the restaurant parking lot; i then drove about 15 feet going maybe 5 mph to come to a complete stop to then turn right to get ready to enter into the parking spot. Once i released my foot from the break (not needing to apply the gas as my parking was maybe 20 feet to my right and the car should accelerate at a low speed on its own) the 2010 santa fe took off at an alarming speed i pressed my foot all way back down on the brake but the car did not stop. I then looked down to see if my foot was on the brake it was down to the floor board. The santa fe went over the parking spot and into the bushes then stopped itself.thank god because the road was on the other side of the bushes. I have never experienced a vehicle doing this?i then contacted the service department at hyundai where i purchased my car and was told that only happens to toyota that they have never heard of it happening to their vehicles. My husband and i took the car back to the dealership where we e-mailed and reviewed of the photos with mark odat and 2 other managers showing the damage that accrued while going over the cement curb. I don't know if there were any damages under my car, i noticed scratches to the paint and a bent license plate (which i bent back into place). I had brought my santa fe up to the dealership back in late august or early september 2011 with a complaint and spoke directly to the service manager jr that twice when i was on my trip from houston, tx to atlanta, ga when using the cruise control once i touched the brake to turn the cruise control off the santa fe would accelerate instead of decelerate and that it had a hard time going up hills.

The contact engaged the emergency brake, shifted out of drive and then back into drive. As the contact applied the accelerator pedal, the vehicle lunged forward abnormally. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer however, the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 25,000.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while driving from the complete stop the accelerator pedal was depressed to the floor and there was no response. After several attempts the vehicle accelerated forcefully with the sound of screeching tires. The brake was applied and the vehicle slowed down. The vehicle operated normally moments later. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer four times when each failure occurred. The technician stated the vehicle functioned normally and the vehicle was equipped with a smart pedal system which was a safety feature. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

Experienced a sudden jerking of santa fe 2010. During the past month or so, this problem had occurred few times while driving at a low speed during the warm up period. Car was brought in the hyundai service department and is being investigated and repaired.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that when the accelerator pedal was engaged it took 3-4 seconds before the vehicle would respond. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but the failure occurred intermittently. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was concerned because the vehicle would accelerate when it shouldn't. The failure mileage was 2,000 and the current mileage was 7,500.

From stop, making left turn, lost all power momentarily, rpm dropped to idle. Pressing accelerator did nothing, finally engine came back and accelerated wildly. Very dangerous.

2010 hyundai santa fe, i reported a problem yesterday about a shadow on the front windshield, upon further looking at the problem we have come to the conclusion that the low beam headlights is causing all the problem, this is a safety issue, when driving at night on dark streets or highways your visibility is cut by three quarters, some one would have toi take the car out to see this problem.*ln

2010 hyundai santa fe, at night using low beam headlights there is a shadow about three quarters down the windshield this only happens at night on a dark roads, on lighted roads it is not as bad, we took the car back to the dealership about three weeks ago and still waiting for an answer.

The front windows fogged completely during an rain storm of high intensity, the airconditioning system was on and working until the high humidity and rain overtook the system this situation happened at night on busy freeway making this a very dangerous situation as the side windows also started to fog ,this has happened several times each time the a/c compressor seems to quit working....also pulling the vehicle over and shutting it down for 5 to 10 minutes seems to clear it up...the common factors were high humidity, temperature drop ,rain.....the first time temp was 65degfsecond55degf third64degf...

Was just washing the car in my driveway and as i sprayed the windshield to first rinse the pollen off, the windshield cracked from bottom to top. No evidence of any chips or cracks prior to that.
