1.) on april 20, 2018 stopped on a hill for a red light when the light turned green and i took my foot off the brake and put on the gas, the car went backwards. This happened on a busy city/hospital district and thankfully no one was behind us.3.) it happened again on july 21, 2018 on a city street with no one behind us.dealership said they couldn't recreate this.2.) when someone puts apillow under them on the passenger seat the air bag does not work. This happens if the car is stationary and in motion.

My wife is short and needs to sit on a cushion, while riding in the front passenger seat. Unfortunately, the car interprets this cushion as a child restraining seat and shuts off the passenger air bag. This presents a dangerous situation for her. We bought this car new in 2017. We recently were going to buy a new hyundai, but the same problem still exists.i have taken the car to several hyundai dealerships, but they have no solutions.we have tested this same situation on new hyundai cars with the same results.

Involved in a crash on 12/30 totally my vehicle being hit in the front right. None of the airbags deployed. Not happy at all , seems to be a common problem with this vehicle.

Mva 11/4/17 and the driver side and passenger side air bags did not deploy although the door airbags did deploy on rt and lt sides.the vehicle was in motion on route 611 pikeville, ky when the accident occurred.

Within days of taking delivery, the vehicle would take 3-4 seconds to accelerate from a stop, and would not fully accelerate until almost 10 seconds later, creating a huge safety issues for times when speedy acceleration (at intersections, close calls, etc.) was paramount.from there, the infotainment system glitched out and would not turn on until i restarted the car, and ithad issues with voice commands intermittently, defeating the purpose of a hands-free device (once again creating more safety concerns).most regularly, the vehicle would struggle so badly to accelerate from 0-40, and 50-60, and would redline, causing huge stress and strain on the vehicle's power train.hyundai told me "this is normal" which it is not.this happened daily at intersections, back roads, and on highways--it did not discriminate.i had several near misses when the vehicle refused to accelerate.in fact, just today, i went to accelerate through a turn and had the gas pedal floored because it would not accelerate past 10 mph.it took a full 20 seconds to get up to speed.this has happened in all driving modes: eco, normal, and turbo.

The contact owned a 2018 (na) hyundai santa fe sport. While driving 35 mph through an intersection, the power steering seized and a red steering wheel and exclamation mark illuminated. The contact was able to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road and it was towed to the dealer. The dealer (hyundai of new port richey 3936 us-19, new port richey, fl, 34652) diagnosed that the vehicle was transmitting data to the steering mechanism; however, the steering mechanism was unable to read and correspond. The steering mechanism needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted and made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

The warninglight saying that the emergency braking systemis temporarily disabled keeps coming on and off multiple times a day and it disables the adaptive cruise control when i an driving in cruise control. It happens while vehicle is in motion in all kinds of circumstances and weather and have taken car to dealer 3 times without any solution. Have tried cleaning sensors multiple times. Dealer has seen it happening twice in a 10-15 minute test drive documenting it. Hyundai consumer assurance has not resolved the problem either. It has been happening since december 2018. It was not happening at all for the first 14-15 months of ownership. It happens at various speeds.

The vehicle almost stopped in the middle lane of interstate highway while driving at a speed of 60 plus mph. With heavy traffic around , it was very difficult to pull the vehicle safely on the shoulder.the vehicle received a soft ware update by the dealership about a month back per product improvement campaign number 953. It took about one month to get the defect fixed by the dealership . I narrowly escaped of getting run down under heavy traffic coming from behind and running on both sides of my vehicle.the consumer stated the vehicle does not drive as smoothly since it was repaired. The consumer is apprehensive about driving the vehicle.

I have a 2017 hyundai santa fe sport 2.0 with 8500 miles on it.since i took possession of this car, i have been having repeated occurrences of engine stalling coupled with the traction control light going on.this happens when i make either left or right turns into traffic: acceleration stalls completely for 2-3 seconds, and the traction control warning light flashes. I cannot get the car to accelerate at all, even with the pedal fully depressed to the floor.the engine revs extremely hard, but the car does not accelerate.this happens on completely dry pavement.there is something seriously wrong with the 2017 hyundai santa fe, and someone is going to die as a result of this problem.i have come close to being rear ended multiple times, and i have nearly been t-boned when taking a turn in front of on-coming traffic.i have researched this problem online, and it iswide spread with hundreds of identical complaints.this needs to be addressed immediately before someone dies in the 2017 hyundai santa fe.

Vehicle hesitates for a second or two when accelerating, both from a fully stopped position, or while driving at low speeds. Did not test high speeds.this can be a safety concern when merging into traffic, especially on a highway. Dealer service said they could not reproduce the issue, but it is very real, and very scary.i had documented this issue several times with hyundai support but they just keep closing the case without any action.

My 2017 hyundai santa fe sport 2.0t ultimate hesitates starting from a stop especially on turns, to the point that it can be dangerous, as it may take several seconds before it will fully accelerate and i can avoid any oncoming traffic. It seems more pronounced in regular and eco mode than sport mode. The anti-skid traction light usually goes on when it is happening. This occurs at slow speed. When i took the car into the dealer, and it was checked by a factory rep who was there that day, they told me it was just the way the car works and it is the automatic anti-skid traction control working.i have been just very careful not to turn without a lot of space from any oncoming cars and i try to use sport mode to lessen the occurrences. This of course reduces fuel economy. I have now seen online reports by many other owners with the same problem and realize it is definitely not normal and needs to be corrected. I heard there may now be a technical service bulletin on this.

When making a left or right 90 degrees turn from a stopped position exiting a driveway or from a stop sign on smooth surfaced roads, upon acceleration, at the midpoint of the turn the forward momentum starts to lag and pressing the gas peddle results in what feels like a loss of or reduction of engine power causing potential for not getting up to a safe speed to merge safely in front of oncoming traffic.complained to the hyundai dealer that stated was a computer issue having to do with traction control and requires an update which is not available at this time.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe sport. The contact stated that the engine seized in the middle of traffic. The contact had the blue link feature, which alerted her to exit the vehicle for safety reasons. The contact stated that all new hyundai's had the safety feature. The vehicle was towed to hyundai of kirkland (11706 124th ave ne, kirkland, wa 98034, (425) 821-6611) to be diagnosed. The dealer sent documentation to the manufacturer. The manufacturer informed the dealer that the engine needed to be replaced and the vehicle was safe to drive. The vehicle was number 26 on the manufacturer's engine replacement list. The manufacturer stated that they would replace the engine under a new warranty. The contact was currently using a loaner vehicle. The contact stated that the manufacturer would issue a recall on may 5, 2019. The failure mileage was 16,461.

I bought my car in july of 2016. Since then i had issue with the acceleration. Sometimes car takes longer to start from the stop position and when it starts, it just accelerates. On other occasions, the car feels like stalling while driving and then pick up the speed again. This is an ongoing issue and i had bought to the sales person's knowledge at the beginning, when he drove around to feel about the same, it didn't occur at that time. But, every now and then this seems to be the issue with me.

This car has had a lower engine knock at start up from day one. They took care of knock sensor system but it still knocks at start up all the time and they refuse to take care of it at the dealership. I am a retired automotive restoration shop owner of 40 years and have had articles written about my shop so i know for a fact that the knock is coming from the rod bearings! it seems as though hyundai dealerships thinks and acts like everyone they encounter with this issue does not know what they are talking about. I am at the point of hiring an attorney before something bad happens with my wife and daughter while in the car.

While driving at a slow speed in a parking lot, the vehicle engine stalled and the driver lost the ability to steer or otherwise control the vehicle.

After 20,000 milesengine still burning oil

There is a serious issue with acceleration from a stop with this vehicle.the vehicle hesitates severely when trying to accelerate from a stop or low speeds.this is a safety concern, since you may be pulling into oncoming traffic and then the vehicle has no power to go.we only have <300 miles on the vehicle and my wife is nervous driving it.the traction control indicator seems to come on during the hesitation, but the vehicle is on flat, dry pavement and is not slipping.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe sport. The contact stated that the vehicle's oil consumption was high and two quarts of oil needed to be added each month. The vehicle was taken to team hyundai (22514 three notch rd, lexington park, md 20653, (301) 880-4120) where the contact was informed that the vehicle was old and had too many miles. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

My new hyundai santa fe has a hesitation or pause problem. Randomly the engine or power train does not respond when attempting to accelerate. It is a dangerous safety problem when it happens. If you are entering a highway, slowing down and then re accelerating, entering an intersection from a stop sign. The condition can leave you in a panic situation when there is no response for a few seconds and then the acceleration kicks in. Your driving timing confuses others approaching you. The condition happens going straight or turning. You could be completely stopped, rolling slowly.. I have driven this vehicle for 800 miles. It has a 2.0 liter engine with a turbo.

My car has started jerking when up shifting and seems to only be happening when the car has not warmed up. Then today while driving on the interstate at 78mph my car lost power. Not completely.almost like something "gave out" and i lost the forward force i was going. It also became louder, almost like a lid hum. When you accelerate the vehicle does not want to go

I performed an oil change on my wife's as well as my santa fe's and the oil had sentiments or what appeared to be metal burrs in the oil.

While driving my hyundai santa fe sport, i noticed hesitation when accelerating from a stop. The engine light also started blinking. I made it home safely and called the service dept at the hyundai dealership. I was told because the engine light was blinking not to drive the vehicle but to call a tow truck service and have it towed to dealership. I was notified today that the engine is defective and will have to be replaced. The vehicle has a little over 16000 miles. I have read several other complaints on this website of others having the same problem. Why have allthese vehicles not been recalled and replaced? why wait for possibly a fatal accident to occur? i was lucky. I made it home.

I was doing errands in my town when my santa fe felt like it did not want to shift, went into limp mode and would not go over 15 mph. Had to have it towed to wayne mazda (sister store of wayne hyundai) for them to tell me 2 days later the engine blew at 33k miles and i have only owned the car for 10 months. My case manager through corporate called me yesterday and stated engines are on back ordered and i probably wouldn't get my car back till mid june or later. Wayne hyundai will not allow me to have a free rental car so i am paying out of pocket for my rental which will be reimbursed however i am responsible for all taxes and fees that apply. Save your time and money from buying a hyundai. Biggest mistake of my life.

Acceleration problem. Some times turning left either from a complete stop or a slow turn when i press on the gas it takes off and then hesitate for few seconds and then takes of.it is so scary when you have traffic coming towards you. Now it is starting to do it more and now its doing it when i turn right.have read several complaints with the same problem and can not believe nothing is being done about this. As usual someone has to get killed before this is taken serious.

Excessive engine braking on downhill roll with cruise engaged, will downshift then downshift again. While reducing the speed the cruise will cause the transmission to up-shift still rolling down the same hill at this point the cruise realizes the speed increase and does a double downshift from where it was. At this point the rpm has jumped to just under 5000 with the engine whining like its in pain. I live in and travel, to and from work in the lower savannah river area of south carolina.the hill that i was on is about the length football field and the speed limit is 55mph unsure of the grade, but as i explained where we live.the first time i noticed this issue the odometer had just over a thousand miles and just thought it was an anomaly but now it has just under three thousand miles and it still has the problem. The car was purchased as a wedding gift for my wife and she's scared to drive it because of the cruise control issues. She would rather drive her 2007 santa fe the cruise control in it acts normal and feels dependable, even with 114,000 miles on it. I've contacted hyundai motors and have taken it to the dealer with no results. Hyundai assigned me case worker angela godbey (714) 965-7049 she closed the case 8/23/17, but not without giving indication that the problem is a manufacturers installed defect.

There is sometimes hesitation after coming to a stop. This is especially frightening at busy intersections. I push on the gas and the car does not move. It has occurred at least 20 times, but it happened yesterday afternoon at a busy rotary. I have seen many other complaints, but hyundai has no solution as of today. I am afraid this is going to cause a serious accident eventually.

Starting from a dead stop or at low speeds this vehicle hesitates to go for at least 3-4 seconds making it unsafe if another vehicle is coming at you.when turning from a dead stop the anti slip light comes on when this occurs, this has happened during dry weather.this occurs most frequently in either eco or regular driving mode, not so much with sport mode.i don't like driving in sport mode too much as it wastes fuel.i've noted a whole lot of complaints of this issue and feel that hyundai needs to do something about this, before an accident occurs!we leased this vehicle in dec 2016 and it has less than 9000 miles on it as of this dec 2017.

Vehicle was in motion on a country road when the engine stalled and the driver lost the ability to steer or otherwise control the vehicle. After having the vehicle towed into the shop, the cylinder number 1 fuel injector was replaced and there was excessive amounts of fuel in the oil.

Vehicle shakes and jerks at 50 mph on a 30% up grade. Unknown answer by dealership. Dealership has seen vehicle 3 times for this and all they said they did was reset sensors. This did not remedy the issue. I am not pleased or satisfied with results.

Intermittently the vehicle will hesitate during acceleration from a standing start. It appears related to turbo lag, but to the extreme and is a dangerous safety issue. Most recently, as i went to takeoff i was momentarily stalled in the middle of the street as i was pulling into on-coming traffic. This is just the opposite of what a turbo boost is supposed to provide. This issue is well-documented on the hyundai auto forums and needs to be addressed immediately. Again, this not an inconvenience. It is a safety hazard and hyundai seems unconcerned about solving this issue. Someone is going to die unless you force them to fix this issue. And if you don't, the blood will be on the nhtsa's hands as well. This is also not the first time this has occured, but the most recent and serious example since i have owned the vehicle.

Vehicle hesitates for a second or two when accelerating, both from a fully stopped position, or while driving at low speeds. Did not test high speeds.this can be a safety concern when merging into traffic, especially on a highway. 2017 santa fe sport 2.0t ultimate awd - hesitation occurs when accelerating from low speeds, most frequently observed when making turns. Stepping on the accelerator causes the traction control light to blink and the engine to effectively stall out for a few seconds. When the throttle does engage after the hesitation, it is in a violent manner. This happens more frequently than not, and is incredibly dangerous.i've owned this vehicle for over a year and have 20,000+ miles on it. This is a reoccurring issue. Had i been aware of this site, i would've filed a complaint immediately.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe sport. While the vehicle was idling at a stop sign and a stop light, it shook and vibrated severely. While accelerating at highway speeds above 55 mph, the suspension was unstable. In addition, the fuel tank would be full at 381 gallons and would decrease to 360 gallons. The dealer (pantili hyundai, 720 oakvale rd, princeton, wv 24740, (304) 425-8203) was notified of the failures. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but they were unable to replicate and diagnose the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe sport. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle shuddered and decelerated independently. Additionally, the vehicle failed to accelerate with the accelerator pedal depressed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to fort mill hyundai (805 gold hill rd, fort mill, sc 29708 (855) 548-9524) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that an unknown software update needed to be performed. The software was updated however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 37,000. The vin was invalid. *dt

Have had same problem with the car from day one. When i hit a bump it lost power, like it was not getting gas. Had it into 3 separate hyundai dealerships for same problem 6-7 times. Suv got progressively worse with time, started losing power when traveling uphill.was almost in two bad accidents before it stopped running all together, smoking. Towed todealership and diagnosed with a bad engine from assembly line. Can not even get it repaired for months due to back order on engines...contacted hyundai consumer affairs and asked them to take the defective car back. It is a 3 year lease with 1 year left...they refuse to take the suv back...expect me to keep a defective suv that i have no faith in driving even with a new engine. I don't feel safe in this vehicle. But hyundai is refusing to take their defective suv back....just not right. All of this is documented. Suv lost power on two occasions, once while driving 45-50 mph on a flat surface then again traveling 65 mph in the mountains traveling uphill. It also had several times i would hit a bump and it would lose power driving on a flat surface.

Engine performance is under normal specifications 22 - 24 mpg, car is giving 20 mpg on hwy.both front seat are unconfortables, they are too deep tha need to be filled up with a large cushion or pillow in order to keep the body in good position, other wise neck has to be bent forward all times causing unconfortable neck pain.

I purchased a new 2017 santa fe sport on 5-26-17. On 7-19-17 at around 7100 miles i received a message warning me of the engine overheating. I put a phone call in the following morning to my dealership and was told to bring it into the shop 7-20-17 (thur). That afternoon i received a call from my service adviser stating there was no check engine light on and they could not find an issue. I then restated it was not an engine light but an actual message stating the engine was overheatng. He then called me back 10 minutes later stating there in fact was a leak in the water pump and they needed to replace the gasket and that they would not have the part until 7-25-17 (tues). When i finally got my car back on the 26th (wed) all seemed fine again. On friday 7-28-17 while driving on cruise control at 60 miles per hour i felt the car down shift and rpm's started going well over 5000 and the only way to stop it was to push on the break this happened twice withen an hour span. I contacted dealer again and was told to bring car back. Note they also had to fix a scratch put on my passenger mirror from when car was serviced the first time. I brought my santa fe back in on monday 7-31-17 and finally decided to contact service department on wed 8-2-17 when no body called to let me know of issues. Since then todays date is 8-10-17 i contacted dealer again to find out status as of right now they had to replace head gasket , reprogram cruise control and replace thermostat on top of the gasket they already replaced on water pump. The service department also stated they still smell coolant in my suv which concerns me still since i am 5 months pregnant. I did startcase with hyundai usa and am waiting to here what options i may have but know i do not want this suv back for my safety.

The contact leases a 2017 hyundai santa fe sport. The contact stated that the engine stalled numerous times while driving 70 mph. The contact attempted to move the vehicle out of traffic. The check engine indicator illuminated while the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to rt 2 hyundai (743 north main street, leominster, ma 01453, (978)-534-9999). Several times for the engine failure; however, the repairs did not correct the failure. The failure recurred. The contact had to pull over and resume driving no more than 40 mph to avoid the engine stalling. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle and found failure code: p1326. The dealer also test drove the vehicle, but was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the engine wiring harness was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer provided case number: 16313165. The failure mileage was 31,614.

There's always a 2-3 seconds hesitation in situations where acceleration is necessary. After 2-3 seconds of hesitation after stepping on the pedal for acceleration, the car revs and produces high pitched and loud sound with no acceleration or accelerates abruptly. Quickly merging into highway, making turns, changing lanes from a full stop and slow movement feel like playing russian roulette. Hyundai service center always claims they cannot replicate my complaint and my concern is ignored.

When driving in normal and sport mode, on acceleration there is a delay and when the gas is left off, the engine is revving high but propulsion, speed is diminished, having a stall out affect at varying speeds.rpm is high but engine is not responding .this has happened weekly and nearly daily when driving in city environment with speed from 30 to 50 plus miles per hour.

There has been a knock since the car was bought 3 yrs ago. It burns threw at about1-2 quart of oil every 2000 miles triggering the oil light to come on. Oil changes are done every 3000 miles with full synthetic always. It's also been taken into hyundai of olympia for acceleration issue while driving (doesn't shift up/down, shift very hard, stutters when shifting) also asked about oil consumption when taken in for recall and was told the oil consumption was normal.

The vehicle will not acceleration when turning sometimes. In sport mode its fine but eco and reg it acts up. I was almost t-boned cause the car would not move at a intersection.

While making a left turn from a side street on to a main highway the car quit moving . The engine was still running but the car stopped in the middle of the road. No power. There were no engine codes displayed. After coasting to the other side of the road, and pumping the gas feed multiple times the car finally took off. This is a real chance for a broad side accident. This has happened to other santa fe sport 2.0 turbos that i personally know of . The latest one was a 2018 santa fe sport 2.0 turbo owned by -----------which also almost caused a broad side accident. This must be fixed before someone is killed!

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe sport. The contact stated while driving and ascending a hill, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the speed would be reduced. Also during the failure, the check engine warning light illuminated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer haddad hyundai located at 689 east st, pittsfield, ma 01202, and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000.*dt

My car only has 34,184 miles on it and while slowing down to exit a highway, the check engine light started blinking and the car went into low power mode - wouldn't go over 2000 rpm's.had car towed to dealer and they tell me i need a new engine and it will take a month to fix!!!

While turning left from a stop onto a state highway in northern california all accelerative capability was lost when the vehicle crossed a set of railroad tracks at an estimated 5 mph, mid-way through the turn. The awd vehicle is equipped with a 2.4l normally aspirated engine. The vehicle was in the 'eco' driving mode and the automatic transmission was in the 'd' range. Attempts to add power via the accelerator pedal were met with no increase in engine rpm and, consequently, no increase in vehicle speed. The condition persisted for 10-12 seconds, during which time the vehicle traveled only 75-90 feet with the accelerator pedal nearly 'floored.' there was no shoulder and only one lane in each direction, which precluded moving the vehicle to a place of relative safety. The weather conditions were sunny and clear, and the temperature was 55f. The roadway surface was clean dry, and free of loose material or contaminants. The incident occurred on a tangent section of highway with no grade and a crown slope of approximately 2-percent.

After having recall service completed on gas tank area, ( flvv pump fuel replaced on jan 11th 2018) i noticed after filling the vehicle with fuel to full capacity, a very strong odor of fuel is present on the exterior of the car when i park it inside an enclosed area (garage).this gasoline smell persists until i use 1/8th of the tank by driving.hyundai dealer service inspected and stated it is a "small leak as a history code and performed evap. Service bay test pass.actuated purge valve and found it sticking.ordered valve".i am waiting for part per dealer to be installed upon availability.

This vehicle has dangerous hesitation issues at lower speeds.i drive in heavy slow traffic frequently and changing lanes or accelerating at lower speeds is dangerous and i fear an accident could easily happen.when travelling at speeds below 20mph and there is need to accelerate to change lanes, the vehicle hesitates when the gas is applied.it can be for 3 or 4 seconds before the vehicle actually accelerates, by this time, the cars coming up in the lane i'm moving into, have to slow down to avoid hitting me.i've had it to the dealer and they say nothing is wrong and suggested that i try using a different driving mode, which i did with the same result. This happens everyday under the same circumstances and has since i bought the car.it's an on-going problem.the dealer is obviously playing dumb with regards to the issue, because there is no shortage of comments on the internet, all stating the same issue.i seriousy am considering selling the car because of how dangerous it is.sad that hyundai can't admit the problem.nhtsa, please step in and make them accountable.

A rock kicked up while driving 35 mph on a city street and hit undercarriage, damaging the charcoal canister. This is a sports utility truck, advertised and marketed to handle off road conditions. Poor design in lack of protective metal plate barrier around the canister has lead to an easy puncture and damage to evac component and expensive cost for replacement with no part warranty.

This initially started around 3k miles.we thought the vehicle adjusting to our driving patterns; however overtime it became a constant problem.i called the service dept. & they'd not heard of this occurring. It's getting much worse and i'm afraid to drive it. The vehicle randomly at no specific speed seems to either get stuck in a gear or try to stall turning left, right (dry conditions) or as i'm on the highway moving lanes; no specific mph.(this is a driving death machine and for safety purposes i refuse to put other lives at risk) there's a 2-4 sec. Delay, forcing me to punch the gas (my grandfather or father would have stated; "sounds like sawdust in your engine") to get my vehicle to move; ultimately a near miss of a fatal incident on two separate occasions and becoming very close to getting t-boned due to this dangerously "unpredictable & extremely unsafe" vehicle.my husband was fed up and took the vehicle into the dealership.we provided detailed explanations of our experiences.yesterday received back from service tech our invoice of service work and they state no problems; & update cause to resolution :tsb 17-br0002 tcs update. In normal driving conditions from 5 mph to 20mph the rpms shouldn't suddenly increase to 5k without forward motion. This occurs in normal, eco, and sport at sporadic times.my vehicle has 10,223 miles this morning.i spoke with hyundaiusa & inquired of a buyback for vehicle considering the seriousness of the vehicle's safety and because the service technician stated there's no fix now or in the near future. An engineer from hyundai corp would have to come and there's no idea when (?).so i respectfully request an investigation into the seriousness of this safety.if there's any potential of preventing lost lives of children and babies, please help.

I purchased vehicle 5/25/17.noticed that sometimes a delayed acceleration from a stop.it has gotten much more frequent and is a problem in traffic or making a turn.had couple of scary moments.i have contacted the dealer several times to schedule an appointment, but no one calls me back and getting very frustrated as this is a safety issue.i live 30 miles from the dealer so am going to have to make a special trip there.

Vehicle shakes and jerks at 50 mph on a 30% up grade. Unknown answer by dealership. Dealership has seen vehicle 3 times for this and all they said they did was reset sensors. This did not remedy the issue. I am not pleased or satisfied with results.

Severe hesitation occurs when trying to accelerate form a stop. Hesitation occurs intermittently and happens when turning right or left. More likely to happen if the road surface that the vehicle is turning on to is rough. The vehicle will begin to accelerate and then lose acceleration. Although pressing the accelerator the car does not speed up even though the engine revs up. After about 3 seconds the vehicle then responds and begins to accelerate. Situation may occur3 or 4 times a week. This is a safety concern because i have almost been hit from behind because the vehicle slows down without warning.

Transmission shifting is erratic. Stumbles/slams into gear 90% of the time. Shifting is felt throughout entire car. Transmission upshifts way to early when slowly accelerating or driving at low speeds. Car could be going 20 mph and has already put itself in 4th or 5th gear. Then when you try to accelerate, the car bucks and will eventually slam into the lower gear that it should have been in. Makes it very difficult and uncomfortable to drive in stop and go traffic. Transmission doesn't downshift properly either. You must come to a complete stop before making a turn onto a street. If not,the car will not downshift to the correct gear and when you try to accelerate, the car will start bucking and eventually slams into the appropriate gear. I took the car to springfield hyundai in springfield, pa to have it looked at. After waiting there for 3 hours, they told me that they couldn't replicate the issue i was complaining about, but performed a "software update" that may help. I'm still not sure how a car that was purchasedonly a month prior, from a hyundai dealer, had a "software update" that wasn't performed before i purchased it. The 14 year old honda element that i traded in on this car shifted and drove smoother.

The vehicle will not acceleration when turning sometimes. In sport mode its fine but eco and reg it acts up. I was almost t-boned cause the car would not move at a intersection.

Just got this car 2 weeks ago and it hesitates when turning or trying to get out into traffic. Very scary!has happened 4 times at random under the same circumstance of turning or merging..

Yesterday, while driving the warning light symbols for the esc and dbc came on out of the blue. I was on a local road, no incline or decline, a straight level road with traffic moving at about 30 mph. Immediately the car seemed as though it did not want to go forward. I pulled over and turned the car off and on again and the warning symbols disappeared. I continued home and parked the car. While in park, the two warning symbols illuminated again with an additional warningof mil. The vehicle is still in park and a message comes across the console that there is something possibly wrong with the transmission and the vehicle could lose power. I turned it off and on again and on the 3rd try, the warning symbols disappeared. I took it to the hyundai dealer this afternoon for service and on the invoice it stated that an inhibitor switch was installed / recall completed. Now i never received notice that there was a recall for my vehicle nor can i find anything online regarding problems with this issue.

Nhtsa recall: 17v365000i have never been contacted by hyundai regarding seat belt anchor issue. I purchased the vehicle july 2017 and was not informed by the company selling the vehicle (byers auto group, columbus ohio) or the manufacturer of this recall. If there is a problem with seat belt anchor this needs fixed asap.

The contact renteda 2017 hyundai santa fe sport. The contact stated that when the vehicle was parked, the rear passenger side seat belt did not disengaged from the buckle, the more the contact tried to unbuckle it, the tighter it got. Finally the seat belt had to be cut in order for the passenger (9 year old) to exit the vehicle. There were no injuries reported. No police report was filed. The vehicle was returned to the car rental company in the bronx and a complaint was filed with the company. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. A dealer or independent mechanic did not diagnose the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

The vehicle was completely stopped at a red light. It was rear-ended.the driver's seat released backward onto the rear seat.see photo attached.

I was making a loop around under the freeway.it wasn't raining and the road was dry.it was daylight and i was not going fast.as i made the turn, the brakes and steering wheel both locked up.i couldn't turn the steering wheel or brake.i hit the median and narrowly missed hitting a pole.i do not feel comfortable or safe driving this vehicle.

We bought our 2017 hyundai santa fe sport used; it had only 11,000 miles on it. Driving home from the dealership, i noticed the steering wheel would shudder violently when i turned the steering wheel, and as the steering wheel returned to center after a turn. This makes it close to impossible to control the steering wheel, and nearly got me into a few accidents since i was unable to control the steering wheel. This suggests there is an issue with the steering column or worse; the steering rack. If there is slipping going on in the steering column or rack, it could be dangerous, as the vehicle could have difficulty steering, or lose the ability to steer completely when in drive. I have never experienced such an issue while driving any other vehicle.

Sticky steering wheel, harder to keep vehicle steering straight without extra force, steering wheel dash light and two other lights come on periodically then go off.

The paint is coming off in chunks on the bonnet right after the paint warranty expired, which is only three years. The car is pearl white.

The paint is peeling and flaking off in sheets on top and on hood of my 2017 santa fe sport awd. The color is pearl white and has not been in an accident, and only has 54,000 mile

Involved in a crash on 12/30 totally my vehicle being hit in the front right. None of the airbags deployed. Not happy at all , seems to be a common problem with this vehicle.

Approximately one year after having the car i began to notice issues.(18000)i have returned to the dealer for multiple repairs.the most significant issue is the toe.the vehicle will not stay in alignment and is wearing the tires unevenly causing tires needing to be replaced way too soon.after having the car aligned i will have to take it back within a week or so for another alignment.i travel between houston and austin frequently and this is a huge concern for my safety.as you are aware replacing tires is very expensive and pointless if the car will continue to wear unevenly.i have sent a certified letter to hyundai but have not received a response.

I'm stopped at a street, waiting to turn on a main road.i just have a stop sign, but the cross traffic doesn't have to stop.i start to turn out when there's an opening, and my car stalls for a few seconds.sometimes it's longer, sometimes it's shorter.this has happened multiple times.it my car doesn't go quick enough, i could get hit.i've noticed this is the worst when i have it in eco mode.this exact thing happens when i'm also trying to accelerate once i've merged onto a highway.it's like my car is stopping when i'm trying to accelerate to get to the pace of the traffic on the highway.

It drifts off left or right constantly have to redirect the steering wheel only had it for 6 days off the lot very unsafe

Vehicle hesitates coming out of turns especially when surrounded by other cars.(heavy traffic)the vehicle does not accelerate when stepping on gas.this has happened in all driving modes.

Panoramic sunroof suddenly exploded at 75 mph on the interstate, no other vehicles around, no overpasses, no existing cracks. Sounded like a shotgun and startled me so early in the morning, and i almost ran off the road. Had there been vehicles or trucks in the other lane i would have swerved into them. Tempered glass and tiny shards of glass rained down on me and were covering the car, as well as my skin. Covered in glass and a little blood and still shaking, i had to drive 40 minutes to the dealership where they told me i had to file an insurance claim and they would not replace it otherwise. This is a definite problem after researching itwith hundreds of similar cases. Nice weather, no cause, other than manufacturer defect. If i had wrecked or my child had been in the car, this could have been very bad. Still finding pieces of glass in the console and under head rests months after.

I was driving down the highway about 70 mph approximately 4:45 am when i heard a loud explosion. My middle panel of my panoramic sunroof exploded causing a circular hole in the sunroof initially which eventually caused the entire middle panel to break a part. There were no motor vehicles around me at the time. I have attached the repairs for my automobile.

Backup camera goes dark during operation, usually right after turning on the car. This can cause an accident if the driver can not see while backing up.

I was driving the vehicle at about 45 mph, temperature about 80 degrees f, with the sunroof closed, when suddenly the sunroof exploded.this vehicle has a panoramic sunroof.the front section exploded, sending shards of glass all over inside the vehicle.fortunately, we were able to safely pull over and call hyundai roadside assistance.unfortunately, they couldn't help us , so we vacuumed up the glass and put a tarp on the roof.vehicle is currently at the dealership where hyundai is replacing the roof under warranty.there was absolutely no object which impacted the roof; it just exploded!

The vehicle hesitates when coming out of turns and rolling stops whenattempting to accelerate.more frequent when in eco mode, is an issue to a lesser degree in other driving modes.

My car was stolen because hyundai makes it ungodly easy to steal. They can literally steal the car with a usb cord. Hyundai and kia need to be held responsible!

The santa fe sport's blind spot detection system does not work as advertised.over 50% of the time the bsd does not pick up vehicles in the blind spot.the amazing thing is the bsd consistently does not detect large vehicles; like semi-trucks, dump trucks, school buses, and panel trucks.the santa fe sport has been to the dealership twice to have the system checked out.both times the dealership said that nothing was found wrong with the system.the sensors were checked for errors and calibrated both times.both times we were told that there was nothing wrong, even though both a salesman and mechanic verified that the bsd system does not consistently work.upon further questioning at the dealership, the hyundai district office was contacted.the official response from hyundai was the system is working as designed.the technical service bulletin 16-be-009 was referenced as an explanation for the system. This was released in december 2016.what hyundai is saying is they designed, tested, and manufactured a safety system that is not reliable and does not do its intended safety function.

This vehicle was involved in a fire while sitting in the driveway. The fire originated in the rear of the vehicle possibly involving the tail lights or other wiring in this area. The vehicle had not been operated for approximately 10 hours. I am the fire marshal and i have read reports of other incidentsinvolving this type vehicle.

Our santa fe sport was parked in our drive way when the panoramic sun roof exploded from the inside outwards.shattering the glass in many little pieces. We have contacted our insurance company for replacement.

I'm having a random problem with my vehicle which relates to the acceleration.the car sometimes fails to responds to the accelerator when pressed.i have noticed this when the car is in eco drive mode and the revs seem ok and the engine fails to respond to the accelerator but all of sudden the car jerks forward with driver having little control until it evens out again.there does not seem to be any pattern to it and as a result it near impossible to duplicate.i have talked to hyundai usa and also with my local dealer as of yet i have no fix.will bring it into dealer once more and take it from there.i firmly believe this a safety issue and as a father of two young children this is of great concernand worry

The vehicle will not acceleration when turning sometimes. In sport mode its fine but eco and reg it acts up. I was almost t-boned cause the car would not move at a intersection.

Vehicle hesitates when trying to accelerate when not fully warmed up.dealer can duplicate the situation on this vehicle and others in their inventory.

Takata recal: while merging on to the highway onramp, the vehicle failed to accelerate properly. It won't go above 50 mph even when i floored the accelerator pedal. I had to slow down and then gradually accelerate.this was dangers as i could have been rear-ended, speed limit was 65 mph. If you have to gun-it, the vehicle fails to register the acceleration properly. It's like it skips a gear and gets stuck at the lower gear setting.i have noticed that this problem happens when you floor the acceleration pedal.

Vehicle hesitates when accelerating from a stopped or slow speed, such as pulling into an intersection. The vehicle hesitates for a second or more before accelerating.this has happened most frequently when pulling into an intersection from a stop, youhit the gas & no response from the vehicle.have to keep pressing gas pedal before car finally responds and accelerates.it happens all the time so selecting a when it happened date is n/a

Just got this car 2 weeks ago and it hesitates when turning or trying to get out into traffic. Very scary!has happened 4 times at random under the same circumstance of turning or merging..

2017 hyundai santa fe sports. Consumer writes in regards to bad window design. *ldthe consumer stated it was difficult to see out of the windows when reversing due to shape and metal material.

The panoramic sunroof exploded while driving on the freeway without cause.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe sport. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the sun roof exploded. There were no injuries sustained. Vision hyundai henrietta rochester (2525 w henrietta rd, rochester, ny 14623, (585) 292-0500) was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. The vin was not available.
