I was driving very slow, about 1-2 miles per hour, as i turned right i head a very loud "explosion pop" and the headrests popped out of their housing.

While traveling at the posted highway speed i had the cruise control engaged when suddenly the car lurched, then surged.i started/tried to use the brakes to slow the car.that didn't work.i tried to disengage the cruise control...that didn't work....car kept speeding up till i hit a massive rv at 90mph.i was knocked unconscious, taken by ambulance to a trauma center, and later learned that none of the many airbags that this car had did not deploy.i am truly blessed having survived this accident. There needs to be better vehicles with better working systems to protect us.i will not rent another hyundaiever again!!

Travel on county road lost control of the car hit the brakes and car would not stop crashed into a fence and had damage on front and both side of the car and the air bags did not deploy.the car was considered a total lost by the insurance company but i would like an investigation about the airbags.

My daughter got hit by 2 cars and only the headrest popped opened but no airbags went off. A car hit the car behind her, she was a complete stop, the car that hit the car behind her then hit her on the passenger side (almost like a t-bone). She now has a lot of shoulder, neck and spine issues from getting slammed into the drivers door. If the side airbag would have gone off, she would not be in so much pain from getting hit from behind and 2 seconds later got hit from the side. I see lots of issues on the coupe but not on the sedan models & i feel that others should know this too. Also, colorado police forgot to put passenger in her car on the report and they refuse to fix it. Her passenger took the hit on passenger door and they had to pull the other car out of my daughters car. We are very concerned on the frame damage, but the collision repair said "don't worry about it, it will be find if hit again, her airbags did not go off either. The damage was just over $11k and insurance valued car at $17k with no proof on how they came up with not totaling the car. She is paranoid to drive it now, cuz we don't know if the airbags will go off. Collision company refused to check the sensors, stating "we should have had them checked before we bought the car". What? so i am not sure how they can say if safe to pick the car up and okay to drive. Also, state fam was not very helpful at all.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. While driving, the passenger side air bag deployed without warning and caused the vehicle to crash into a pole. The contact did not provide any specific details about the crash. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v722000 (air bags). The vehicle was towed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

On august 4,2017, i rear-ended another a toyota fj cruiser at about 45 mph, because they came to a sudden stop on a major hwy.however, the airbags never deployed!this is unlike the time, a year or so ago, when i was rear-ended by a mistsubishi outlander, while at a red light on a city street.that time the head rest deployed and i had minor damage to the bumper.i'm disappointed.for a high safety rating, i expected more from genesis.very scary when your life is on the line.

The area in my dashboard where my airbag is is starting to split. I have contacted hyundai and let them know as i feel that this is a safety issue. It is coming open and i am concerned that the airbag will either deploy or not operate correctly if needed. I have seen where this is a common occurance is this vehicle and i feel that it wanrrants a recall.

I was backing out of my garage. My son had his car parked behind me. I saw that i was going to have to pull up to get around the parked car. I put my foot on the brake, i then put the car in drive. Took my foot off the gas and it took off at rocket speed. I wasn't completely out of my garage. The car was going so fast and i couldn't stop it. I was 6 ft from the brick wall. I was going so fast that i went through the brick wall and it didn't even slow down. It kept going took out a chain link fence. Then came to a stop and died. What stopped me was all the brick and fence that was under the car. If it had not stopped it would have killed me. This happened at my home. There was no police report.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the passenger frontal air bag enclosure was fractured. The contact further stated that there was a separation between the air bag and the enclosure. The contact was concerned that, in the event of a crash, someone could be injured or killed. Hyundai of metairie (5969 veterans blvd, metairie, la 70003, (504) 838-9000) was contacted, but the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 75,777.

While traveling at 65mph the car was cut off and the abs did not work, the rear fishtailed and lost control, slamming into a guardrail at 65mph, the right passenger side front and back were severely impacted, and no air bags were deployed at time of crash. Seat belts did not hold and passengers were hurt. Air bag, failure and seatbelt failure are the major problems with this vehicle.

I had 2 accidents on 7/7/2013.one low speed rear end collision with a mini-van.the other was a high speed rear end collision with large rv.both times i had the cruise control engaged, and could not stop the vehicle using the car's brake pedal system.i was eventually taken to an er, then admitted to an icu ward.i sustained a concussion, bruises, and abrasions.most of what happened in the high speed collision are of temporary moments of memories due to the concussion and loss of consciousness.i am quite upset to have gone through these accidents with a new 2013 hyundai genesis that was rented from enterprise rental car from logan airport in boston mass.there was no airbag deployment in either accident.car was towed away and do not currently know the vin of the vehicle that i am reporting.

Vehicle not starting properly and the hyundai dealership nor other certified shops can figure out what's causing this problem. I've spent over $1000 and still no progress. Dealership even reached out to hyundai tech for advice .still no answer. It's been times i've been sitting 15 min trying to get the car to start. I'm reading blogs and i see many other people are experiencing this issue..please help

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the electrical system malfunctioned. The steering system, dash board lights, and other electrical components became disabled. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test however, the dealer could not find an issue that caused the electrical system to malfunction. The failure mileage was 13,800.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. While the contact's spouse was driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle lost all power and functionality. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle operated as intended. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.

As leaving the store, the vehicle(a standard) would not shift into any gear besides reverse. The lights would not come on. The car was initially in 1st gear and rolled backward with foot on gas and clutch. The seatbelt light kept dinging and flashing even though the seatbelt was hooked in. This is the second time it happened. This time it occurred as we were pulling onto a highway from a store. The car had to be shut off and restarted on the side of the road. If there was a car coming, there would have been an accident.

Driving less than 3000 miles since purchased (74,000) - the vehicle has powered down/engine shut 4 times while stopped at a light attempting to turn left and 1 time while accelerating up a hill. All 5 times have been in town roads going under 40 miles per hour or at a stop. The key has been placed in the key insert every time so there was no way for us to bump it while driving. In order to get it started again, you have to place it in park and power it up again. Most recent happened today so we are now filing a complaint.

Bought my 2013 genesis 3.8 with technology & premium options on march 1, 2013. I have had two problems from around the 2nd month after my purchase. They are: 1) the driver seat and the back not getting much airflow even at the switch setting at max position; 2) the seat leather cover is not snug tight - kind of loose and wavy in the middle area. Have been to the dealer seven times starting august 2013.the dealer has replaced the fan and filter, found blower motor weakened, seized. Removed and replaced blower, swapped seat with another car in stock/loaner, found driver seat bottom deformed; removed and replaced driver seat bottom, and have, without hyundai's approval, inserted a "hose" tube under the seat to improve airflow. I have also had two different field service reps spend a day, month apart, with the car - testing and measuring voltage and current to the motor. The first field service rep agreed that there is a problem and requested "documentation" from hyundai-korea, but never received any. That rep was transferred out, and the new field rep did not find any problem. After this, the dealership service director tried to help me by installing a small "hose" tube just over the air-intake opening, but that still did not improve anything.right now, at max setting of the switch, i still feel no air coming from any of the vented holes - on the seat and on the back! i have filed the defect notification form with the hyundai at their consumer connect center address in california, and sent a copy to the florida attorney general's office for the lemon law administration.i did do a google search some time back and found lots of people in this forum have complaints about this driver seat cooling problem and some had very creative solutions.it has been very frustrating for almost 10 months, 7 trips and hyundai not doing a better job in its warranty coverage.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced intermittent failures of the backup camera, the cruise control, and the driver's and passenger's side rear windows. Additionally, while the brake pedal was depressed, brake fluid leaked from the brake lines. The contact stated that the failure caused the brake pedal to go to the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to hyundai of la quinta located at (79025 ca-111, la quinta, ca 92253) to be diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failures. The contact stated that an unknown repair was performed on the brake lines however, the failure recurred. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

Get in 2013 hyundai genesis coupe. 2.0 t , start engine seat belt warning lights go off and stay on, turn signal sound is off and electrical locks stop working all at the same time. Took to dealership and they can't find anything wrong. Researched on the net and other have the same problem, d no fixes or explanations from hyundai that i could find..this email was i sent to hyundai on 5-9-2014our 2013 hyundai genesis is having electrical problems and no one at hyundai seems to care about it!!. The service can't find anything wrong until its to late!!! right??many consumers that own this car are having the same problems with the seat belt light not going off, the locks malfunctioning, and turn signal / light problems all at the same time!!! this needs to be addressed now!!! the electrical system is very in important and can effect the safety of the automobile. Airbags!!! we will file a complaint with the national safety admin.so they know whats going on, and if and when something does happen we are covered.... I'm surprised no one has yet.fix the problem now!!!regards,

The head rest just popped out while i was driving did not hit anything. Theradio goes out some time ,i have to cut it off and back on to make it work. The dash around the radio just started coming loose for no reason. I'm ridding in the to of the line hyundai.

Driving the vehicle down a city street, it suddently became next to impossible to steer. Pulled car over, and it felt as though there was no power steering. We were within a mile of our house so we took it home and parked it. The next day we called a wrecker to tow it to the service department. After sitting overnight, the problem was gone, the service department couldn't "replicate" the problem so nothing was done to stop it from occuring again. I'm not certain of the exact date but it was the end of 2015 i believe. We have the service record.

Three issues. All have occurred only twice or three times in two years. Last time i took the car to dealer but they didn't do anything since no "codes" were stored in the system!1. The infotainment display panel goes completely dark. Radio stops and all other activity and control knobs become non-operational. Just stopping and restarting the car does not fix the problem. But, both times, when i have restarted the car after 30-45 minutes (e.g., after shopping, or returning from airport), everything is back to normal.2. Sometimes (again infrequent) when using the navigation system, all colors go away, screen becomes darker, and everything displays in gray. But, when i change the display settings from auto to day, the color returns. All occurrences were during daytime driving.3. Again, sometimes, when listening to radio, the brightness on the display changes from evenly lit display of the dial, the two ends become darker - like gets dark and cloudy!

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. While driving 20 mph and making a right turn, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to rick case hyundai (925 n state road 7, plantation, fl 33317, (954) 388-9627) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a failure code or duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The vin was not available.

I went to go to work and the drivers door opened, and would not latch. This has happened 4 times in the last 9 months. I will be driving down the highway at 60 mph, and the drivers door opens by itself, and it will not latch. So at this point i am trying to drive the car while holding the door. This is extremely dangerous for me, as well as other drivers. We had the car towed to the hyundai dealer two weeks ago, and they replaced the door actuator again. This did not fix the vehicle the last time they did it. I will not drive this vehicle again, due to the fact that it puts me in grave danger. The general manager from napletons hyundai in west palm beach, florida has yet to return any of my calls. We have purchased four vehicles from this dealership. Hyundai feels it is fine for me to drive this unsafe vehicle. In may 2013 the service manager took the vehicle home for 5 days to see if he could get the door to malfunction, and he experienced it. They replaced the door actuator, but his did not fix the problem. We have a four year lease on this vehicle and we are at a loss as what to do. The vehicle is not safe for me, or anyone else to drive.

2013 genesis has needed the clock spring replaced four times in two years and each time it only lasts about a week before the airbag light comes on indicating the clock spring has failed again.hyundai dealership has done replacement work in each case.most recent occurrence was 07.30.19

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the doors would not unlock and a key symbol illuminated intermittently. The failure also prevented the vehicle from starting. The dealer stated that the signal from the key fob was not recognized by the control system in the vehicle. The system module was replaced, but the failure recurred multiple times. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

The vehicle sets brakes when i accelerate and brings my car to a stop.it will not release the brakes.when the vehicle comes to a stop the vehicle won't move.yesterday it occurred twice and the second time a female contact her husband and he told her to have me pump the brakes to see if they release. The brakes released.the traction control on the dash figure came on and would not clear.i believe it has be something wrong with that feature on the vehicle.a very dangerous fault.

Stalled while making right turn into our driveway. All dash lights were on.this is at least the sixth time it happened. Previous filed odi number 10606872, 10746269, and 11221909.weather condition: above 75 degrees

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while driving 72 mph, black exhaust carbon soot emerged from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 50. Updated 07/11/13*ljupdated 07/31/13*lja region rep informed the consumer nothing could be done to correct the problem.

Engine stalled again in end of may, 2015 while the car was slowing down.it was traveling at a speed between 10-20 mph.that was the 4th time we experienced engine stall in the 2.5 years of our ownership.when the engine stalled, all electrical system seem normal - radio continued to play, ac and fan were still on.we only notice it because the car was slowing down more and there were no engine noise.after engine was stalled, we stopped the car and shifted the shifter back to "park".we were able to start the engine right up and everything was fine afterward.outside weather temperature was hot (upper 80?s to 90?s) at the time.in the 4 incidents, the engine stalled while we were on a flat road, incline road, going straight and making a right turn.it happened randomly and we could not reproduce it.dealer had taken a look at the issue twice.no computer error codes were found and they could not reproduce the stalling problem either.

Two weeks ago, my 2013 3.8 v6 genesis sedan stalled when i was about to turn right into my driveway.both the street and my driveway have a little of an incline (maybe 5 degrees).after the engine stalled, i noticed the fuel tank was on the near-empty side and the range indicator indicated the remaining range was 40 miles.i was able to shift the car to park and re-started it to pull into my garage.this engine stalled problem had happened to my wife twice around the same spot within the last six months.we took the car to a hyundai dealership to have them look it over.the technician did not find any fault codes and the car ran fine during test drive.no corrective actions were performed at the time.

Auto hesitates when accelerated hard; it falls flat on its face when called on to perform.not sure if it is engine or transmission (wrong gear).i consider this a safety issue because one cannot get out of the way of oncoming traffic.typically, when attempting to exit a slow moving (30-40 mph) traffic lane into fast lane, the car temporarily stalls putting driver at risk of being hit in rear.this almost always happens where car is moving as slow speed, but rarely from a dead stop.

Rough idle on cold start. We have had this condition checked on 3 separate occassions with no successful repair. Condition was first checked at 18k miles and last at 34k. We have had to bring the vehicle to private shop to have our rough idle on cold start condition confirmed. No resolution with manufacturer at this time.

When turning right from a standstill, car momentarily stalls and then lunges forward after 2 or 3 seconds. This happens 3 or4 times a day. Mechanic at dealership said my foot was on the brake. The problem has continued and my foot was not on the brake.

My genesis accelerates on its own, this has happened several times, the last time it happened i was able to get it to the dealership so they could see it, they turned the car off & could not duplicate the problemthe 4th time it happened the car lunged out at a stop light & accelerated to 50 mph before i could get it stopped

My car literally just shut off while i was driving. I tried to turn once and just shuts off. So i took it back to he dealership and they said it was the emc and it did drive good for a couple months. However, when i had to accelerate fast to get by a car and the rpm were up higher than i normally drive it , i went home and it sat for 20 mins top. I get back in and it just shuts off again! i called hyundai near me and they gave me the run around. Told me i would have to pay for rental car. I said i uber warranty and this shouldn't be happening!! worst experience ever with this car and the dealerships. They seem to know about this problem and know there is no real cute. I don't expect this car to really ever be fixed as i lol be getting something different as soon as i can .

My engine shut off twice in the last year.both seem to happen in traffic jams when car is in lower gear.had to park and restart car.

Car stalled immediately after starting several times in my garage.let it overnight, and started it andpull out in the driveway where let the engine running while in park.without warning lights the engine stalled after about 5 minutes.re-started the car and the engine stalled again after about 2 min without any warning lights while in park..

As vehicle comes to a stop and gas is pressed to go again- car engine turns off. Radio, air, windows all work. Car is then put in park and starts right up again. Car has done it 6x since june 14th. Dealer can't figure whats wrong with it.different parts replaced- throttle body and purge valve. Car still dies at a stop. Concerning it will happen in traffic on interstate while driving with my kids in the car.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the engine stalled numerous times while driving 20 to 30 mph. There were no warning indicators illuminated before, during, or after the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to several dealers, but a failure code could not be located. The vehicle was first taken to liechty dodge (5080 academy lane, bessemer, al 35022, 205-432-7995) where the battery and the alternator were replaced; however, the failure was not corrected. The vehicle was also taken to independent tire centers for diagnostic testing, but no failure codes were detected. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 65,000.

Upon leaving my daughters cheerleading practice.i notice my transmission slipping,i could not excellerate in traffic which was causing traffic to back up behind me. Every time i would try to accelerate my tachometer would go to about 5,000 rpms and the vehicle would make a sudden jerk as if i was being hit from behind.my family became very scared thinking someone was going to rear end us in traffic.thankfully i was a able to navigate home using side streets.thus prompting myself to take this vehicle to the hyundai dealership now i am waiting for an explanation to what is really causing this vehicle to react this way.

While turning right or left at slow rate the vehicle stalls, power steering shuts down. I have reported to hyundai on 2 occasions. Dealer says issue can't be replicated. Major safety concern and there are numerous reports online of the exact same issue as mine. In motion, city street, turning.

Multiple times i have accelerated the car to get onto the highway, change lanes quickly, and make right on reds, only to have it literally do nothing. At times it takes 2 to 3 seconds before it accelerates and then seems to have a tough time shifting through the gears.at low speeds the car seems to hesitate and shift poorly. Hopefully the dealer can do something to correct the issue.

Vehicle has been stalling in traffic usually when coasting to a stop even on expressway creating a life threatening situation since the steering and brakes fail without engine running!! has occurred several times over the course of the past week or two. Happened three times in relatively quick succession yesterday july 2, 2018 while driving home from work.

In the morning around 9am going to work on 405 north. All the sudden i started to lose power, engine was still running but didn't accelerate at all, i came to stop end up blocking on of right lane and noticed engine sound was unusual and started shaking a lot. I called hyundai roadside assistance and my car was picked up and dropped to a kirkland hyundai dealer but they didn't find anything unusual. Service shop personal claim that car started right up and didn't find anything from diagnostics test.this incident makes me very nervous to drive this car.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact mentioned that the failure was experienced many times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the westgate valve failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

First, the car began running rough soon after purchasedin december2013 with 13,000 miles.taken to dealershiptwice. Had misfire codes.was told not to use gas from kroger. Even using shell mid grade gas car runs rough and pronouncedstumblingupon highway acceleration.second, exhaustissootyand staining rear bumperand corroding the exhaust tips.dealer said the engine (6 cylinder) is high performance and all high performanceengines soot.he would notwrite that response on repair ticket.as a lay person, car appears to be runningrich which is causing the soot and rough engine problems.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. While driving 50 mph, the engine seized intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,707.

While slowing down to a stop at a stop sign at 15mph the car locked up and i couldn't turn the wheel, press the brake, and the vehicle wouldn't even accelerate when it rolled to a stop. All the lights on the dash lit up and stayed lit up. The car was in drive and wasn't moving. I took a video of my foot off of the gas and the car in drive and it wasn't moving. Also shown in the video i took i show all the lights lit up on the dash. This is the 2nd time this has happened with my family in the car, wife and two kids. I am very concerned since this our daily driver and always has our children in the vehicle that this will happen while on the interstate and possibly cause us to get in a very bad accident. I also could not put the car into park. I had to press the on off button and shut the car completely off and restart it for it to do anything. But both times it happened luckily no vehicles were in front of me because i was unable to do anything to stop the car it had to roll to a stop and both times it was at 15-20mph. It was in a street turning out of a development. I have found in forums that i am not the only person with the issue and that someone had their crank shaft censor replaced and hadn't had any issies for several months since, but theirs was occuring up to 10x a week before that replacement. There were several other affected parts i was unable to select... It seemed you were only able to select 3 affected parts.

Vehicle had previously backfired periodically, especially when downshifting.was starting from full stop, engine was sputtering, check engine light was on, tachometer was below 500 rpm.vehicle was drivable, but acceleration was difficult due to sputtering engine.drove directly to dealer - vehicle was diagnosed and repaired same day (04/15/2013).service writer provided copy of factory technical service bulletin #12--fl-007 (july 2012), which states as follows."this bulletin provides information related to the gdi idb (injector driver box) ecu software update of some 3.3l/3.8l vehicles that may experience any of the following dtc stored:p0300:random/multiple cylinder misfire detectedp0301:cylinder 1 - misfire detectedp0302:cylinder 2 - misfire detectedp0303:cylinder 3 - misfire detectedp0304:cylinder 4 - misfire detectedp0305:cylinder 5 - misfire detectedp0306:cylinder 6 - misfire detected"service writer verbally advised that misfire was detected in cylinder 5, but this problem was not stated on repair order.he also indicated that problem may recur.dealer should have notified all existing vehicle owners at time technical service bulletin was issued.

The car will stall unexpectedly.

When accelerating at low speeds (specially on freeways) the transmission experiences a delayed shift between gears 3-5. The shift delay typically lasts 2-3 seconds. This causes the rpms to increase to 3000-4500. Driver has to heavily accelerate to enable the transmission to up shift. In addition, this causes the rear tires to spin if esc is turned off making it difficult to control the vehicle. Vehicle lunges forward suddenly as if the computer got the required information to accelerate this causes sudden forward moment.car was taken to the dealer , they found no issues.

Stalled twice on the same day- stalled while turning right at the entrance of roundabout at local school. Car lost control due to stall and went cross the opposite lane. All dash lights were on similar to turning car on without turning engine. Fortunately no cars on the opposite side. Quickly shifted to neutral and tried to start the engine. It took 2-3 secs for the engine to start.- stalled again 2 hours later on the same outing when turning right to local restaurant. Car lost control going into parking lot. All dash lights were on.- this is at least the tenth time it happened in our 6 years of ownership with 100k miles on the car. Previous filed odi number 10606872, 10746269, 11221909, 11221913 and 11221917.- weather condition: above 80 degrees. It is possible that the issue has to do with hot weather. Purely speculation here.i also reported may 23rd, 2015 incident to hyundai customer service back in june 29th, 2015. There were no reply from hyundai. I will file another compliant to hyundai again.very frustrated.for reference, i came across these similar cases while doing my research that others complained.http://www.carproblemzoo.com/hyundai/genesis/car-stall-problems.phphttps://www.gencoupe.com/general-discussion/582297-hyundai-genesis-stalling-problem-dangerous-please-help.htmlhttps://genesisowners.com/genesis-forum/threads/power-stall-when-turning-left-to-change-lanes-in-stop-and-go-traffic.11153/https://www.carcomplaints.com/hyundai/genesis/2012/engine/engine_stalls_shuts_off_while_driving.shtmlhttp://www.hyundai-forums.com/201-genesis/147545-hyundai-genesis-stalling-problem-dangerous-please-help.html power stall when turning left to change lanes in stop and go traffichttps://genesisowners.com/genesis-forum/threads/power-stall-when-turning-left-to-change-lanes-in-stop-and-go-traffic.11153/

This is the second time it happened. This time it occurred as we were pulling onto a highway from a store. The car had to be shut off and restarted on the side of the road. If there was a car coming, there would have been an accident.

I originally bought my 2013 hyundai genesis as a certified pre-owned vehicle from a dealer in georgia. From august 2014 to present (august 2015), the vehicle has stalled/cut off unexpectedly on 8 different occasions, 7 times while driving at speeds between 5 mph and 45 mph, and once while sitting idle in park. When stalling, the steering wheel tightens and/or locks which makes it extremely difficult to steer, the brakes harden which make it extremely difficult to stop, and the dash lights up with various symbols and indicators much like it would if it only had power but without the engine started. To get the car going again, i have to come to a stop, put the car into park, push the start/stop button, and the vehicle starts again.on the 7th time of the car stalling, my wife was making a right hand turn when the vehicle cut off. She nearly plowed into a vehicle that was stopped at the light making a left hand turn onto the street she was coming from, and then nearly caused a 3 car pile-up behind her because of her unexpected braking and sudden loss of control of the car. As of right now we are afraid to drive the car any longer. We have taken it to the dealer 3 times now. On the first visit back in october 2014, they cleaned the fuel injection and throttle body, saying that maybe we had a bad batch of gas that left carbon deposits. They kept our car for a week. They were unable to replicate the problem. Fast forward several months and here we are again at the dealer for time number two. This time they kept it for about 12 days and did another cleaning of the fuel injection and throttle body. They were unable to replicate the problem. Last friday, august 14th 2014, 3 days after getting it back from the dealer, it stalled again. We refused to drive it that weekend, and i drove it only to bring it back to the dealer this past monday august 17th. We do not feel safe

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while driving and attempting to make a turn, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and operated as designed. The vehicle was taken to courtesy hyundai tampa (3810 w hillsborough ave, tampa, fl 33614) to be diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.*dtconsumer stated incident have 3 times and power steering failure happens when making a turn. Vehicle must come to a stop to restart.

When stopped at the traffic lights on a city street, the engine stalled for no reason. All lights came on. I had to put the gear in neutral and start the car again.this is at least the fifth time it happened. Previous filed odi number 10606872 and 10746269.weather condition: above 75 degrees

I was driving and every light in the dash came on and the car shut completely down i was able to coast into kfc parking lot to stop and restart.

We were at an intersection on highway 1.cars were driving by at the speed limit of 55mph so it was important that we accelerate quickly in order to turn left onto the highway and avoid being hit by oncoming traffic.when it was time to go i stepped on the accelerator, the car began to move and then we experienced engine hesitation, where there was a momentary period where the engine did not respond to me stepping on the accelerator.i reacted by stepping on the accelerator completely to the bottom and still had no response - we were coasting.i completely backed off the accelerator and stepped on it again when the engine finally began to respond.vehicles were fast approaching and in that moment i felt scared and lost trust in my car's functionality.earlier that day i also noticed that when accelerating, when already moving, i noticed that the transmission felt like it would wobble.it's difficult to describe.it felt like very subtle momentary losses of power or acceleration followed by a recovery in the acceleration and then repeating but in quick succession.you would only notice it if you owned the car.i have not been able to duplicate it.maybe it was the traction control system but being unable to accelerate in a situation like mine was very dangerous.

Vehicle hesitates when trying to accelerate in city & highway traffic. I have taken it to the dealer twice and it will be the third time tomorrow.they don't seem to have a solution and tell me that the vehicle is learning my driving habit's. (how funny).this is my 15th or so new high line vehicle. This hesitation is causing life threatening experiences.i almost got creamed, (hit) several times while trying to merge on the free way.i see i'm not the only one with this problem.we need help.

The multi function switch on the steering column has a short within its components. When driving at night with the headlights on and i activate the multi function switch to change lanes, the headlights flicker. This is the second multi function switch that is having the same symptoms, because i had the same problem years ago and the multi function switch was replaced under warranty. It is now exhibiting the same symptoms as before but is no longer under warranty.

I had to put in a date to make this work this a problem from the first day i bought the car.from a stop if i accelerated to a few miles per hour and for some reason i had to stop, when i pushed down on the accelerator nothing happened.after a second or two the car jumped forward and if another car was close i would have i would have rear ended it.obviously, i am extra cautious and have avoided this problem. I reported it to the dealer twice and got the same answer,"oh they all do that."the dealers are protecting hyundai.who will protect me?i checked online and found that there are many people with this problem. One person said he turned off the tracking control system.this is a dangerous problem especially for an inexperienced or novice driver.

Purge value failure

I was driving on a major interstate, when the engine sputtered then shut off at highway speed.no warning from the instrumentation panel until after the engine failed. After stopping in the breakdown lane, i was unable to restart the vehicle.the service department at the dealership believes the incident was caused by a defective gas tank and is recommending replacement of both the tank and fuel pump.

While rolling slowly, then accelerating to cross 3 lanes of traffic, mainly in local town driving, the car seems to stall and then suddenly accelerated very quickly. This has happened at least 10 times in different situations i.e.: changing lanes quickly after rolling, while waiting for an opening in traffic. Have brought car back to dealer many times with the same complaint. Once they said they updated the transmission. It did not help. The last time they said don't use the eco mode, it creates a slight hesitation. I'm afraid this car will kill me someday when i pull out into traffic and have be power

Well it only happens on hot day or in summer.in stop and go traffic.while i'm driving the car all of a sudden gas fumes fill up the inside of my car so bad that i gottta pull over for a while. The other day it happen to me again and i almost passed out while driving.i've taken the car to the dealership several times before and they tell me that theirs nothing wrong with it or they don't know what it is. I've ownd the car since it was new and it's been doing this since then.now that it almost made me black out while driving was the last srraw for me.it's made me have headaches before but not pass out like the other day. This is why i'm reporting this to you guys hoping you could help me.this only happens when i'm i. Stop and go traffic in the city when it's really hot out.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the engine started making an abnormally loud noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that there was a manufacturing defect in the transmission, which needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to extend the warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 700.

When shifting into 5th or 6th gear on the manual transmission for the 3.8l hyundai genesis coupe 2013, it grinds horribly. Clutch is fully depressed and still grinds. Multiple threads on gencoupe.com have been started with other users mentioning the same thing. I hope that a recall of the transmission will take place as hyundai dealers are hit or miss when asking for it to be covered under warranty. I hope this complaint does not go on deaf ears as this is a major issue. They revised the manual transmission in 2014 recognizing this defect but left prior owners out in the cold. Thank you for reading this.

When accelerating at low speeds the transmission experiences a delayed shift between gears 3-5. The shift delay typically lasts 3-4 seconds. This causes the rpms to increase to 3000-4000. Driver has to heavily accelerate to enable the transmission to upshift. In addition, this causes the rear tires to spin making it difficult to control the vehicle.

I've seen a lot of these cars and read about a lot of these cars with transmission problems i was sitting on a regular road in park my car slipped into reverse with no warning what so ever while the gear stick was still in drive i think these could have been built stronger or safer to avoid this and that was just one incident out of about 20 but that was by far the worst

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the vehicle would jerk violently while driving approximately 20 mph. The vehicle was taken to two different dealers who replaced the computer system and also the transmission twice. The vehicle continued to jerk violently however, the dealer still could not find the problem. The manufacturer was notified who continued to send her to various dealers who could not duplicate the problem. The failure mileage was 13,000.

The head rest just popped out while i was driving did not hit anything. Theradio goes out some time ,i have to cut it off and back on to make it work. The dash around the radio just started coming loose for no reason. I'm ridding in the to of the line hyundai.

The transmission is slipping while driving the rpm go very high and engage back to gear and the car shake and move rapidly forward making danger to drive.looks like between 3 and 4 gear. Last for 4 days then stop for 2 weeks and start again week ago.

I am having this same problem! except this will be my 3rd time getting it replaced. Hyundai will replace it under warranty, but what happens when it runs out and i'm still constantly replacing it. I have replaced it at 16,000 miles, then at 34,000 miles and now at 54,000. If you notice, there is a trend. Corporate really doesn't help, they just tell me it's covered and everything is fine, in reality that's not true. I have no where else to turn to have this problem fixed for long term driving, and i know i'm not the only one.thank you for your time. **re: when shifting into 5th or 6th gear on the manual transmission for the 3.8l hyundai genesis coupe 2013, it grinds horribly. When accelerating car shifts violently in to gear. It feels like it does not find gears and when it does it feels like you have been rear ended as their is a bang when it does find gear. Seams to be between 3 and 4 and 4 and 5 gears shifts. Mainly happen in city driving.

Driving 20 mph in heavy traffic lost power for approximately 3 seconds while changing from left to right lane.

Transmission isn't shifting .sometimes stalls before chang into gears.

Drive side seat belt no longer latches.i was driving and notice that it was unbuckle.when i tried to buckle it again it would not buckle.

The head rest just popped out while i was driving did not hit anything. Theradio goes out some time ,i have to cut it off and back on to make it work. The dash around the radio just started coming loose for no reason. I'm ridding in the to of the line hyundai.

Vehicle became stuck in snow.after disengaging the traction control to allow vehicle to get unstuck as recommended by owners manual and attempting to get the vehicle unstuck with mild acceleration, rear rotors became so hot they were glowing orange and on fire! hyundai initially denied platinum warranty claimas "abuse and weather".attempting to work resolution with them to fix my vehicle which sustained approximately $3000 in damage to rear brake system from fire.

I was stopped at a red light in the left turn lane. All of a sudden i was rolling forward while my foot was firm on the brake. I was able to press the brake even further, but i kept rolling forward until i crashed into the car in front of me. Thankfully, it was a very sturdy truck with a trailer hitch. I have damage to my grill where the hitch hit my car. The brake pressed to the floor and did not stop my car from rolling forward. I was able to drive the car to the closest parking lot in that intersection. I waited for a tow to the dealership. The brakes seemed to work fine again; the service department told me there was nothing wrong with my car or its brakes. I left the car with the mechanic to drive home and continue to test it to reenact the problem. When i googled "hyundai genesis brake failure", there were a few other instances of this issue.i am so scared to drive my car again.

This happened to me several times but the last time killed the car. I was tapped on the rear bumper getting on the freeway and was in a full counter lock slide and the abs did not stop the car. Instead of stopping on the shoulder of the freeway the car shot around and launched me into traffic. I was mashing on the brakes as hard as i could but the car would not stop or slow down. I was hit by a bmw and the car was totaled. I?m lucky to be alive. The abs needs to be recalibrated or repaired to prevent this from happening to others.

Travel on county road lost control of the car hit the brakes and car would not stop crashed into a fence and had damage on front and both side of the car and the air bags did not deploy.the car was considered a total lost by the insurance company but i would like an investigation about the airbags.

While vehicle is in motion and coming to a stop, the brakes goes down to the floor as if it's giving out. I've read a lot of complaints about people having the same issue and their brakes went completely out. The repair needed was the hydraulic module. By reading their complaints, i'm having the same symptoms and the dealership told me it was my brake hydraulic module that's about to go out, call hyundai to report it because they had a few customers it happened to and the repair is $3000.i'm afraid to drive my car but i have to go to work and i can't afford to buy another one. I reported it last year to hyundai and there was no action or follow up as if they don't care.

From driving through snow (with newer tires), the wheels became hot enough to be literally on fire and glowing red.dealer says the e.t.c. Malfunctioned but hyundai refuses responsibility.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle shook violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The technician diagnosed that the front rotors bended and caused the front suspension to fracture. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 7,200.

On multiple occasions the brake pedal will go nearly to the floor without stopping the car causing a panic and aggressive braking before nearly getting into an accident. We have to pump the pedal to make them work. This happened at any speed at random times. The brake pads have been inspected and still have plenty of pad left. Car has 125k mostly highway miles. Multiple mechanic advice and on line issues points to a faulty $1600 abs module. I have two other much older vehicles with way more miles with no such issue

I was driving and every light in the dash came on and the car shut completely down i was able to coast into kfc parking lot to stop and restart.

As i was making a left turn going at a high speed the steering wheel popped out of my hands and made the car go back to the right ending up on a guardrail . The airbags deployed and my car is now totaled . Don't know if my axle broke or the steering wheel locked up but i do know one or the other happened .

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. While driving 15 mph, the engine started to stall but did not turn off and the steering wheel seized. The contact called south point hyundai (located at 4610 s ih 35 frontage rd, austin, tx 78745, (877) 824-3142) and notified them of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 150,000.

While turning right or left at slow rate the vehicle stalls, power steering shuts down. I have reported to hyundai on 2 occasions. Dealer says issue can't be replicated. Major safety concern and there are numerous reports online of the exact same issue as mine. In motion, city street, turning.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the steering wheel shook excessively. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 417. Updated 02/11/2014 the consumer stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice, for the vibration issue. The consumer took the vehicle to another dealer, where they did a road balance force and performed an alignment. The major shaking in the steering was gone. However, there was still a vibration when the vehicle went over expansion joints, the steering wheel would still vibrate.

We have a new hyundai genesis which has a factory defect causing a water leak and resulting in mold issues. Our family of 6 has had many health related issues since owning this car and mold testing has shown toxic mold. This has been an unknown issue with the vehicle since purchased new in february 2014 and discovered in april 2016. It affects the trunk and back seat. We are looking for resolution from the manufacturer who has been entirely unresponsive. A video and pictures of the mold is online on youtube at the link provided below. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated. Https://www.youtube.com/channel/ucyeqjlokkytegl_rdbqo7wg

On january 11th 2014, i purchased a brand new 2013 hyundai genesis from brown's manassas hyundai in 8651 centerville road, manassas, va 20110. On my invoice it was stated that it is a brand new car. Two months after i purchased the car, i had a sensor problem, which i got fixed in fairfax hyundai which is very unusual for a brand new car. On 10th april, i heard grinding noise from the rear right tire. I took it to other hyundai again. Below is the report that they gave me and i was stunned. "technician found that the rear right strut had snap from bold on frame, one bolt missing prior and also found green duct tape that was holding the strut to the car. Customer advised vehicle is unsafe to drive. If vehicle is driven there is a high possibility of the strut falling off which is very dangerous and an accident will result." there was a green duct tape supporting the car. After this report, for me it is proved that this car might have been in a major accident before i purchased it and the issue has been fixed without reporting it. Even the mechanic who showed me the problem with the car was shocked. After i got the report, i took it to brown's hyundai manassas and talked with service manager, he totally ignored me. Other sales associates told me they are unknown with this issue and they cannot do anything further to help me. I was very disappointed with the disloyal behavior from a hyundai employee. As mechanic said, i could have got into a major accident. My concern is my family. I have a two-year-old niece who travels with me often in the car. I am also concerned they might have been doing this behavior to other consumer as well and putting life in danger. My car is still in the fairfax hyundai dealership.

My daughter was pulling onto the freeway from an exit and heard a loud snap.she realized that something seemed to have broken under her right tire.she managed to drive to the next exit and up to where she works.when she got out of her car, she and a friend looked underneath the car and realized that the axle was cracked and coming apart.she was able to drive home that next morning from work but noticed that it sounded like something was grinding or dragging.when she took it to hyundai the next day, they claimed that she hit something.they explained that the front axle was broken and needed to be replaced.she is absolutely sure that she did not hit anything.hyundai was very rude and called me (her mother) and stated that she had to have hit something.my daughter was very adamant that she absolutely did not hit anything but that the axle just snapped!in order to get it fixed right away, we were told by our insurance that we had to accept fault and make a claim.this is what we did in order to get it repaired right away, but we both know that the axle had to have been faulty to begin with.i have found other people with the same problem on the hyundai santa fe and they encountered the same problem.i feel that there may be a problem with the axles on hyundais and that this is something that must be looked into.had that axle broken completely while my daughter was pulling onto a busy freeway, she could have been killed.i would like to see some action taken against hyundai about the axles on her car.

Purchased car new with dunlop sp sport 5000m tire size 225/55/17 95h. At 40mph and higher, start hearing a wobble/deep growling noise. Took to dealer and was told the tires are cupped / not worn evenly. The tires have been rotated with each oil change and the car has not been in a accident. Was told i needed new tires, of course there are not under any warranty.

From driving through snow (with newer tires), the wheels became hot enough to be literally on fire and glowing red.dealer says the e.t.c. Malfunctioned but hyundai refuses responsibility.

The gears are jumping and slipping. Sometimes when accelerating the gears shift to neutral.

While i am driving at around 20 mph, all of sudden engine shuts off, steering wheel is frozen, brake doesn't work, all light remained on dash board.i put it in park and start it.it comes back without any issues.no code are registered so dealer can not see the problem. Also happened in parking a lot about 5 weeks back.this is big safety issue where i might run into somebody without steering wheel and brake control.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. While driving 25-35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the brakes seized. In addition, the check engine and battery indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (nalley hyundai, 7909 mall pkwy, lithonia, ga 30038, 678-508-8248), but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 11580860. The failure mileage was 85,500. The vin was not available.

Power seat switch is faulty. Has been replaced 2 times

After the traction control light comes on when using the vehicle.the brake pedal is hard to push and causes the car to pull and fails to slow down as normal.you then have to come to a complete stop and pump the brake pedal down to the floor two or three times and the brakes function as normal again until the traction control light comes on again.seems to be a common issue based on several forums that i read.it is a safety concern, because you don't know when itwill happen to your car's brakes unless you see the traction controll light come on and if you don't know the abs light went on it surprises you and you can easily not be able to stop in the normal distance or the pulling to one side almost causes the car to veer into on coming traffic.

When stopped at the traffic lights on a city street, the engine stalled for no reason. All lights came on. I had to put the gear in neutral and start the car again.this is at least the fifth time it happened. Previous filed odi number 10606872 and 10746269.weather condition: above 75 degrees

I have soft breaks...while braking there is a moment where the brake won't work and then it works again. This isn't always at high speeds...it happens during my commute which includes a school zone. I bought this 2013 genesis with only 11k miles in jan 2016...now i only have 26k miles brought to dealer and they say no recall and it's not part of cert pre owned repair list...so i had to pay to have breaks flushed myself but only 26k miles seems low...since i don't' want to kill anyone or myself i had no choice but to flush system...but this problem looks so similar to recall of genesis 2009-2012 i wanted to make sure it's out there. Have had this issue since my oil change at 22672 miles and they said nothing was wrong.....this time they did more test drives...didn't see the issue since it happens about once a week and then they could only recommend i pay for brake fluid flush

Stalled twice on the same day- stalled when braking at low speed on a city street prior to a complete stop. Shifted to neutral and tried to start car. Car was trying to start but hesitated. Gave it a hard acceleration, it then ran normal.second incident on the same trip.- stalled on city street when braking at low speed. Shifted to neutral and started car. Gave it a hard acceleration, it then ran normal.side note:- could not start after stopped at gas station for refuel (when pushing the start button, it only had the tick, tick, tick noise.) had to give hard acceleration to get the engine running. Idle was very rough and unstable. Gave hard acceleration to blow out carbon and idle went back to normal.- believe wife took the car to dealer a few days or a week later for diagnostic but no error codes or cause was found. Needed to locate receipt to confirm. - this is at least the eighth time it happened. Previous filed odi number 10606872, 10746269, 11221909 and 11221913.- weather condition: above 75 degrees

Stalled while making right turn into our driveway. All dash lights were on.this is at least the sixth time it happened. Previous filed odi number 10606872, 10746269, and 11221909.weather condition: above 75 degrees

My wife came home an told me that the car had accelerated on it's own.i took it for a drive after she had shut it off, and found no problems.this happened several months ago, and she took it to the local dealer, and they could not find a problem.this pass weekend the same thing happened to me.i even drove up a hill to see if it would keep on accelerating, and it did.i had to pull over to the side of the road and turn the car off.when i restarted, it worked normally.the cruise control was off.

This is my 2nd time that has happened, 1st time was about in feb 15. 2014 and 2nd, on april 2,2014.both times, i was on richmond hwy alexandria va driving abot 45 to 50 miles per hour.all of sudden the car decelerated to about 5 miles and i was flooring the pedal.i was in such a shock about this incident being that my car is only 1 year old.so we took it to the alexandria hyundai dealership. The repair was very fast, they informed me that the throttle programming was off. I was in fear of my life since i drive through tunnels and bridges.i trusted that it will be fixed permanently but to find out that 2 months later i had to experience deathly re occurrence. I was so petrified and did not want to drive that car again so i requested to exchange to another car. My husband did all of the transactions for the new car. Few days later, paper work arrived, the salesman came to my work during busy time so i didn't have chance to read in details.well the paper work read that my new car was 2013 instead of 2014. I was so upset in addition to my other issue and not wanting the same model and year.i feel that this car and may be the model is very dangerous and need to report for consumer to be aware of this problem. Thank you.

When turning right from a standstill, car momentarily stalls and then lunges forward after 2 or 3 seconds. This happens 3 or4 times a day. Mechanic at dealership said my foot was on the brake. The problem has continued and my foot was not on the brake.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. While drivingapproximately 3 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into two vehicles that were parked. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 20,000.

While in traffic, stopped and attempting to change to next left hand lane, car stalls for a few seconds instead of accelerate, then it takes off after delay.the delay will cause anaccident.have mentioned this to the dealer and they do nothing. Dealer says everything is operating as designed.posted this incident on genesis forum and have gotten numerous complaints describing the same problem as i have been experiencing.we have had the car now just over 1 year now and it still does the hesitation.this issue needs to be addressed before some one gets killed due to no accelerator response when in traffic. Other than this problem, we like the 2013 genesis very much.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai genesis. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, without impact the sunroof exploded. An unknown dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was offered a loaner vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that an investigator would be sent out to inspect the vehicle which was still pending. The failure mileage was 42,525.

When i and my wife came out in the garage to go out for dinner, we found the winshield has crack on it bigger than 1 dollar bill.we have kept this vehicle very safe place at home and working place. We had several different vehicles last 40 years, this is the first experience.if this happens on the highway, it could burst out the glass and damage human critically.please keep the report and see if other people complaints.thanks.

Roaring at high speed. Took vehicle into dealer.cupping found on all four tires. Salesman called dunlop. Told dunlop that the tires didn't have but 14,100 miles on them. The car was bought brand new. Dunlop prorated all four tires and replaced them. Owner paid $271.20 for prorated tires. Owner feels that these tires should have been a recall since all four tires went bad at the same time with 14,100 miles on a new car.the tires are dunlop sport 5000, p225/55r17, 95h, m+s standard load. The only documentation is from the dealer where they replaced all four tires.dunlop customer service case #8432322. Approval code a496208.
