The contact owned a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while on a highway stationery in traffic, the vehicle behind him crashed into the back of his vehicle. The contact's vehicle then collided with stopped van in front of him; that van also hit the vehicle in front of it as well. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact's chest hit the steering wheel and the contact's head broke the head rest. He received medical attention at the scene and was transported to the hospital. The contact was treated for a chest contusion and bruising to his neck area. Injuries to the other vehicles occupants were unknown. A police report was filed. After being released from the hospital, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to an independent body shop and was later deemed totaled by a mechanic. The manufacturer nor a dealer have been notified of the failure. Upon, investigation the contact linked nhtsa campaign number: 16v722000 (air bags) with his failure. The failure mileage was 71,244.

Passenger airbag light is always illuminated, with or without someone in the seat. Called the dealer and they told me that they 'put a seatbelt label on,' and that i can pay $145 for the diagnosis.

While repairing my car the body shop cut thru the passengers side air bag wiring harness, and then tried to splice it back together and not tell anyone.that did not work.they now have my car and we have been waiting since feb 24th for a back ordered harness from hyundai.do you have any ideas why this could take so long?

The vehicle was hit in the right rear quarter and then in the front, completely demolishing the front body work.only the passenger side window curtain airbag deployed, likely due to the initial right rear side impact.the sole occupant (driver) was not protected and was injured (cracked pelvis, cracked orbital bone, nose injury) because the steering wheel airbag system failed to deploy.the manufacturer was provided with photographic evidence showing the above, but has declined to address the issue because "we attempted to inspect your vehicle and believed that an inspection would have confirmed the proper operation of the vehicle's airbag system."the car was scrapped already and not available for inspection.photos provided to the manufacturer (and available to you) demonstrate clearly that the front bumper assembly bodywork was completely ripped off the car, yet the driver airbag did not deploy.that would seem to indicate a catastrophic failure of that intended safety feature.the manufacturer's assertion about confirmation of proper airbag system operation is not credible in view of the facts.please research the information and make sure that other drivers are not victimized by inadequate safety engineering.

The outline of the passenger side sea airbag seems to be opening as though the airbag will come out at any moment. There are 2 perfect cuts on the dashboard where the airbag is as thought the airbag is tried to deploy but couldn't. I noticed one line about 2 months ago and the other line today 8/15/20

I put in a new battery and some of them the memory doesn't work right.

Back up camera did not function when vehicle was put in reverse. Back up camera came on when vehicle was put in drive and stayed on for a block or so while car was driven forward. Gps map then was activated, but display froze, then entire screen went blank. Video system then re-booted itself. This was repeated several times before the gps stayed on the video screen as it is designed to function. The intermittent operation of the gps was distracting and could have resulted in the driver not being able to view driving directions.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While attempting to make a right turn at 5 mph, the vehicle stalled and caused the power steering to seize. The brakes failed and the battery and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The failure occurred two additional times. During the last occurrence, the vehicle was pushed to a parking lot. A tow company was called, but the vehicle restarted on its own. The vehicle was not towed, and was driven back home. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Complete failure of engine. Sensors and electrical components malfunctions. Touch screen display non responsive and keystrokes off. Gas/fuel would spew back out when filling. Windshield visibility poor. Lighting dim. Hydraulic system fail. Timing belt fail. Flang sound (ticking in engine) led to engine fail. Electrical lights flickering was me. Vehicle stalled out completely shutting off locking up and seizing out. Components malfunctioning. Hard brake checks, high rpm rrevving, and idleing all are shown when car was traveling at 45 mph and no change in speed. Failure of fluids cause corrosion and hecu. Engine light indicator and engine oil lamp light flickering with no distinct pattern. Proceeded to bang loud in engine. Rpm rev 2-3k before speed catches. Cd player problems. Always making a sound as if it is trying to eject and then sputters out.in 2 days the entire vehicle went from no lights displaying no knocking sound. 94k miles total

Was driving down the freeway in stop and go traffic and had been driving for about 45 minutes. Had a/c on, radio on, phone charger and seat cooling. Suddenly all electronics stopped on the car, loss of power to brakes, power steering and no acceleration. Had to pull over across two lanes of traffic, thankfully the flashers worked and i was able to get to the side of the road. Put car in park and started car up again. Thankfully it was daylight and good weather.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated while driving at 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and driven to the destination. The contact also stated that while her daughter was driving at the same speed weeks later, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to keith hawthorne hyundai of gastonia (4712 wilkinson blvd, gastonia, nc 28056) however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was 138,000. The vin was not available.

Auto hold technology feature failed at a stop light. When on, auto hold illuminates white, and green when it is actively holding the vehicle in place, without the need to depress brake pedal. On a stop light car jerked forward and the auto hold illumination turned orange in color from green. Auto hold feature would not reset even when restarting vehicle. Dealership was able to reset, citing a shortage in the auto-hold unit, with a replacement part ordered. Potentially dangerous if there was anyone in front of the vehicle at the time of failure, as it could of resulted in a potential injury.

While driving at night on the highway with the lights on automatic setting, taking a exit and put my left blinker on the head lights shut off for a period of two seconds. At times the cruise control does not work, the front and rear sensors come on when is nothing in front or rear of the vehicle. The car as been at the dealer various times and at times they said i have a bad sensor and by the time they look at the vehicle they said that is nothing wrong. The symptoms go away after driving for a couple days, bit i feel that i will get into a accident if the lights don't come back on.

I was driving on a local highway in the center lane and the vehicle lost power suddenly. All of the indicators came on. I had to muscle the car off the road using momentum with no power steering crossing lanes of traffic. It was a very dangerous situation that could easily have created an accident. Previously the car lost power at a light and the navigation and back up screen has flickered and turned off and the music controls freeze. I took the car in to the dealership after it died the first time and they reported no error codes and did not repair the car. I immediately took the car in after it died on the highway and they are again reporting no error codes. This is a very dangerous situation to have my car suddenly lose power while driving.

Headlights turn off when turn signal is used at night.when making right turn last week at night used right turn signal approximately 100 ft prior to turning.front lights went out and car turning in front of me almost hit me because they couldn't see me because my lights were off.other hyundai genesis owners report the same problem.dealer unable to diagnose problem. Headlights flicker when turn signal is used

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the vehicle randomly stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (hyundai of metairie, 5969 veterans blvd, metairie, la 70003, (504) 838-9000) months ago, but the failure could not be replicated or diagnosed. The vehicle continued to exhibit the same issue and was to be taken back to the dealer. The contact stated that there were more than ten technical service bulletins issued by the manufacturer, but no recall as of yet. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.

This ihas happened 4-5 times. I was driving on a street, thank god, i was not on hwyway, engine just stalled and streering wheel locked. I was hardbut, somehow managed to get on the curbe and avoid a crash. If this would have happened on freeway, it would have been fatal. I think, hyundai sure know this problem exist in genesis too. It is same problem ( symptoms) as described in hyundai's sonata recall.i don't know what is hyundia waiting for. It is a serious problem with a $50,000 car . I have no trust on this car anymore. This would be my last hyundai. I know, if i take car to dealership , i would hear response that , no issue found. Genesis has a serious engine problem with stalling.

Drivers side window motor shorted out at 68k miles. It would only intermittently roll up or down, and would get stuck in either condition, allowing rain, snow and dirt to enter the vehicle. Hyundai quoted $680 to repair

Passenger airbag light is always illuminated, with or without someone in the seat. Called the dealer and they told me that they 'put a seatbelt label on,' and that i can pay $145 for the diagnosis.

Radio display freezing up. Word genesis stays on. When put in reverse rear camera will not come on. When put in drive display stays frozen with word geneis. Can hear radio playing on am/fm/ and xm radio when changing channels. It freezed up on me took it to dealer, service manager hit reset button would not reset. Turned car on and off several times before it finally cleared.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving 20 mph and attempting to make a right turn, the vehicle lost power and the instrument cluster indicators illuminated. In addition, the steering wheel seized and caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and run over the median. The contact was able todepress the brake pedal and stop the vehicle. Once at a complete stop, the driver turned off and restarted the vehicle on the first attempt and drove home. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (capitol hyundai montgomery, 2820 eastern blvd, montgomery, al, 36116), but could not be repaired until two and a half weeks later. Due to the delay, the contact declined to proceed with scheduling diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 65,760.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the vehicle stalled and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle restarted and resumed normal operation.the failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000.

Driving home on the 405 fwy last night my genesis r-spec 5.0 lost all power, electrical and steering.fortunately, i was on the right lane and was able to maneuver the vehicle off the fwy.i had no lights, no emergency flashers, complete shutdown of power.it was about 9pm and dark luckily it was not in a lane or this could have been fatal as i could not turn on any lights!extremely dangerous and have reported my incident to hyundai customer care.vehicle was towed to dealership pending diagnostics.

The car stalled and engine shut off while moving.i was driving on a surface street when the car shut off, all indicator lights were on, temp gauge was normal, fuel tank was more that 3/4 full.the car started up again and drove away normally.

I purchased the car in january 2017 after 2 months of having the car the windows would not go up. I would have to wait hours for it to start back working. The suspension was low for a few weeks then it would slowly come back up. Basically my whole car has electrical problems back up camera goes black, the odometer has dead pixels, car extremely sluggish, the car shakes and kills alot. Also when i turn the heated seats on it turns off within 2 minutes. It is so much the car is doing to say this car has a clean carfax.

The first time it happened i was driving on a 2 lane road when the car just stopped, no warning. After about 15 minutes the car started up again. I brought it to the dealer service department and they kept the car for 2 weeks and told me the car is fine now. The second time it happened my husband was driving the car and was getting off one major road and getting on to another and the car just stopped again. Waited again and the car started up again after about 15 minutes. The third time my husband was driving from my home to the front of my development and the car stopped again no warning. The forth time was just this past week when driving the car on a very busy road and it happened again, this time someone had to push us off the main road so that we do not get hit. I took the car to the dealership again and they have the car right now and i am driving a loaner car. I call hyundai and started a case and they told me that it is up to the dealership to decide what to do about my car if they can not find the problem. I am refusing to drive the car because i do not know when this is going to happen again and i am afraid. We have been very lucky up to now that we have not had an accident or even worse. Please tell me what i need to do now. By the way this is a leased car.

Engine completely stalled 4 times when coming to a stop at a red light. Dashboard lit up with all the icons like it does when you press start on the car without actually turning it on. Ac and radio stayed on but brake pedal and steering wheel tightened up and loss of function in traffic. Had to put gear in park turn off the car and turn it back on. All 4 times it came back on without any problems and took me home. Common issue that others have described and can kill someone!

The lcd information display located between the speedometer and tach is too dim to read during the day unless the car is in the shade.this creates a safety hazard since certain info is necessary while driving and cannot be seen under the stated conditions.the brightness cannot be adjusted.i have contacted hyundai and they recognize the problem but said there is no repair available.it is possible this only applies to the 2012 non-rspec 5.0 model since i have talked to other owners with the rspec and they don't have the problem.other similar models on my dealer's lot have the same problem.please reply, thanks.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled numerous times and the check battery warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the hyundai dealer (2329 ross clark circle dothan, alabama, 36301 phone number (800) 523-4030) where it was diagnosed that the battery failed. The battery was replaced four times; however, the failure was not corrected. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where it was diagnosed that the alternator failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 100.

There has been numerous occasions when my headlights are on and i engage a turn signal, both headlights turn-off for a period of about 1 to 2 seconds.this can be deadly when traveling at a significant speed during hours of darkness.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled and several warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the failure could not be duplicated. The failure recurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new battery. The battery was changed, but the failure recurred. The vehicle went back to the dealer a third time for diagnostic testing, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving approximately 10-15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. Bentley hyundai (located at 3805 university dr, huntsville, al 35816, (256) 713-0505) was contacted and an appointment was made to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000. The vin was not available.

Complete loss of all power supply and total mechanical system/engine no longer operational

Headlights blink on/off when using turn signal. Doing research, i see that many people have complained about this and the fix is to replace the turn signal stalk ($400).

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. When the vehicle was started, the front windows were lowered and the driver side window switch became inoperable for approximately five minutes. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

Hyundai genesis sedan w/tech package.while driving down a poorly lit road at approximately 50 mph, i activated my right turn blinker to turn right at an upcoming intersection.as soon as i selected the turn signal, both headlights went out for a period of 1 - 2 seconds, then came back on.since the road was dark, i was literally driving blind and could have ended in a very serious accident.there has apparently been a few genesis sedans reporting this same issue, but this was the first time this has happened to me.when i got home, i noticed that my headlight switch was in the on position.there is also the auto position.when in on, i could duplicate the issue randomly by selecting the turn signals, thought it wasn't consistent.when in auto, i could not duplicate the problem.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While applying the brakes and coming to a stop, the vehicle suddenly shut off. During the incident, the instrument panel indicators illuminated and the air conditioning fan continued to operate. The contact was able to immediately restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to autonation hyundai located in columbus, georgia, but the failure could not be duplicated and no repairs were performed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 172,000.

When turning steering wheel a number of things can happen, radio turns off, steering locks up. All dash lights come on and power batt light lights up. Has stalled in intersection when turning. Trans shifts hard and slips into gear when on a long drive

While in route to the dealer for one issue, my smart cruise light came on. I reported this to the dealer upon arrival and they ignored. They repaired one item under warranty in which i though took care of both. By time i left, allowedthe car to warm up; the smart cruise light came back on. I contacted the dealership & asked them what happened to this 2nd issue. They scheduled an appointment and i was informed by that time and visit; the warranty had expired and i will have to pay $4200 to repair the problem that they now see. I had also been complaining about my abs/esc/auto hold lights were constantly flashing, now they remain solid. It causes the vehicle to jerk when in reverse. I have read about several recalls regarding issue. The situation has gotten worse and i was told it is now leaking brake fluid. The dealership has now given me a price totaling $7000 to repair or purchase a new vehicle. This is money i cannot pay and i know my vehicle was still covered when the problems/ recalls started. These incidents occurred on several dates.

The set position of the seat wont go to the position the put itonand tha seat get stock for 10 to 20 minute and then you can star move again

What is likely a faulty turn signal stalk causes the vehicle's headlights to either flicker, shut off or flash the high beams regardless if it is stationary or in motion.it manifests itself in various ways; the most recent being on a 5 hour interstate trip.when signaling to change lanes, the high beams would flash which would in turn disturb drivers in front of me.other times, the lights have flickered and/or turned off entirely for a brief period of time hindering night time visibility.for further reference, i will provide a link to an owner's online forum which discusses other individual's problems like this: http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=12504&page=4

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving at any speed, the parking sensor indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the parking sensor was fractured and needed to be replaced. The technician stated that the warranty expired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact was responsible for the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 5,025.

Navigation display failure resulting in no back-up camera, no a/v functions, and hvac control malfunction. Dealer replaced within approximately 8 months of purchase. System has failed again and corporate advised that the part was on backorder and we waited for a replacement part for 8 months. Now corporate has advised that the part,a-v monitor assembly part #965633m851, is unavailable/discontinued. No way to repair or replace the part. Vehicle has 44,000 miles on it. Sunroof failed within first 20,000 miles and was sealed to avoid expensive repair. Most recently the car died without warning while stationary. In for evaluation now. This car has been a chronic problem since we first purchased it and corporate has told us that we are at a dead end regarding the a/v monitor assembly - there is nothing they can do. A/v monitor assembly issue occurred in june of 2020.

Every time my car is idle, whether at carport, street light or heavy traffic, the engine runs really rough sounds/feels like it is going to turn off (stop running)also when ac/heater & radio are on it gets worse! it's scary to think i may get stuck in middle of freeway/street every time car is at idle. I've taken it to hyundai dealer from day one for the issue and even let them know it's still happening every time i take it for engine oil change or other scheduled maintenance and told every time they can't find issue!!i do not remember specific dates, nor did i save all the paper work since i bought the car in 2012! shouldn't dealer have records in their computers? it's been on going since i bought the car in 2012!!

Car turned off by itself while driving.steering and braking were affected and not working.

The headlights completely turn off for around a second when turn signal is engaged or disengaged. Problem happens sporadically and has only been observed when the headlights are in the on, not auto mode. This sudden and brief, unexpected lack of visibility at night is dangerous.

The common denominator for what i experienced has been that the car is moving slowly, 5-20 mph (7th or 8th gear), and you floor the accelerator while changing the lane (to merge quickly). All that happens for 1-2 seconds is that the car coasts at the speed you were going (absolutely no power is applied to the wheels), and you see the revs going up and the transmission shifting to a lower and lower gear (but not sending any of that power to the wheels), until it gets to the 2nd or 3rd gear and then your head snaps back as it accelerates very quickly (but 2 seconds too late). So instead of the expected takeoff you get 2 seconds of coasting while the car in the lane that you got into is getting uncomfortably close and has to brake to prevent an accident. This is extremely dangerous and unexpected.

I put in a new battery and some of them the memory doesn't work right.

Engine suddenly stops at low speed. It immediately will restart but all power assists are lost until restart. It does seem limited to warmer weather and the automobile is fully warmed up. Has happened 4 times. First time was july-2017 and most recently was august-17, 2018. The dealer says they cannot find any error code or duplicate the problem.

Engine stalled while driving. I was making a left turn in a center turn lane and the engine stalled out. Coasted back to the center turn lane, put the car in park and it started back up. No check engine light or other warning lights.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle and it operated normally. The contact called the local dealer (kendall hyundai, 15895 s dixie highway, miami, fl 33157, (305) 238-0000), but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 11551400. The manufacturer advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to the local dealer, if the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 99,500.

I was turning to park in my parking space and all of a sudden the car began to accelerate with such speed that i thought it would jump the curb and crash into my home. I was unable to stop the car and the brakes were unresponsive. It hit the curb and finally came to a stop with a terrible shudder/noise.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving approximately 70 mph, the engine stalled and all the warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the fuel gauge failed to accurately display the correct fuel level. Southern states hyundai of raleigh in raleigh, north carolina was made aware of the failure and requested that the contact schedule a diagnostic appointment. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

At 31,500 the air conditioning compressor failed.there are numerous posts from other owners about the compressor failing.hyundai will not share the tsb's about this known issue.an ac compressor should last at least 50,000 miles and in reality a lot more miles.the vehicle was in my garage parked and the compressor went bad.i found out the next time i started the car and the compressor did not work.the compressor insides were plastic according to the hyundai mechanic jack that worked on the car at san tan hyundai.the federal government should not let hyundai sell junk then charge for replacements.

Engine stalled randomly at lower speeds, usually while turning.lose power steering and brakes - extremely difficult to control car and unbelievably dangerous.it has happened to me 3 times and my 16 year old daughter twice, all while turning from a highway or highway intersection. Fortunately i had told her it might happen to her and what to expect if it did.given the number and consistency of other complaints filed, it is equally unbelievable that such a safety issue has not been investigated.it is so random that it will be very difficult to replicate, but given the potential for injuries or deaths this is an unacceptable manufacturer problem.

My 2012 hyundai genesis 6 cylinder sedan has stalled since i bought it (leased) new two years ago.each time i go to the dealer (oil changes, etc.) and ask them about it they say they have not heard of this problem and since they cannot recreate it when they drive the car they tell me there is nothing they can do.just a short time ago my family and i were almost in a very serious accident - there almost certainly would have been a fatality if i had not left enough room when turning left in front of oncoming traffic on a state highway.as with all but one of about 8 stalls the engine cuts out as the car slows to at or just below 5 mph.this time oncoming traffic cleared me by inches as i muscled the turn without power steering and the car coasted to safety.this has become unbearable.i will be going to the dealership as soon as possible.this car stickered at $45k - i have had more expensive and comparably priced cars, audi, bmw, cadillac, etc., but have never had a problem like this!it did stall once at 45 mph but all other stalls have been at the point of almost stopping or, in tonight's case, decelerating somewhat rapidly as in a left turn from 55 mph.please help with this issue.i cannot find anything specific on-line although apparently elantra's have the same issue(?).have found a few postings from other genesis owners, but i cannot follow them - i am not a mechanic - they talk about turning "esc" on and/or off; which i know is electronic stabilization control, but, i am not comfortable trying to strong arm a solution - especially for such an expensive car.again, please, please help with this problem.i will go to dealership again, but i know what they are going to say...what else can/should i do?

Upon starting my car the engine was revving.i thought it was doing that because it was extremely cold out. I let it warm up a little. I put the car in drive it begin to accelerate by itself going up to 40 miles while in a parking garage. I managed to finally stop the car by flooring the brake petal & emergency brake. I turned the car off and restarted it and it started revving again! i called the hyundai dealership to report what had happened.

I have a serious issue with my 2012 hyundai genesis 5.0 r-spec. I have an ongoing exhaust smell/leak. It is very strong when starting the vehicle and at idle, especially when stopped at a red light. The smell seems to be either raw fuel or raw exhaust that is leaking from somewhere in the system. I have to place my ac system on recirculate or lower a window or the fumes become overwhelming. Once the vehicle is moving the smell subsides. On 01/18/2017 my local dealership preformed an evap serviceto possibly fix this issue to no avail. A second evap and ac system service on 02/01/17 was preformed and still the problem continues. The dealership says the charcoal fuel tank filter is fine and could not find any leaks in the exhaust system. I believe the smell is coming from the front of the car possibly the exhaust manifold of fromthe fuel system pluming. The car uses direct injection which is under very high pressure when working. I am worried that to much carbon monoxide could possible build up inside the car and cause an adverse health and safety issue.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph or less, the engine stalled. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and repaired. The crankshaft sensor was replaced but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 72,000. The vin was not available.

The car stalled and engine shut off while moving.i was driving on a surface street when the car shut off, all indicator lights were on, temp gauge was normal, fuel tank was more that 3/4 full.the car started up again and drove away normally.

My vechile stalls while driving at various times. This could cause a serious accident in which lives could be lost .this eems to beproblem with the genesis from 2012 to 2016 from my research. I am not the only owner with this problem . The dealers cant find the problem or why it is occuring . The dealers give you numerous reasons as to what might be the cause of this problem, but they are not sure . This could cost a consumer $1000 of dollars just to find out what the problem is . This occurs when just driving down a street, on curves or going straight. I have not had an accident yet! im trying to avoid this .this occurs when my gas tank gets low , that is what ihave noticed .

At approximately 10:30 pm. While driving on hwy at fairly good speed of 73-75 mph, while on cruise control, the engine died and steering became difficult to none at all, all while engine was completely off.car could not be started again.vehicle is currently non-operable and parked.it appears i am the third owner of the is vehicle. While driving home, the car ac started blowing hot and the dash panel lit up, the engine turned itself off and i coasted to the side of the road. Afterstopping, i pressed on the brakes and pushed the start button and the car started right up and i drove home, no further problems. This was on a las vegas city street. This is the 6th time this has happened in less than a year, twice it was on the freeway! we just picked up the car from the dealership on friday, today is monday, they claimed that they couldn't duplicate the problem, but didn't know that i had documented the mileage and they did not even test drive the vehicle!

Hyundai genesis 2012 engine stalls in traffic at slow speeds.as i was slowing down ona crowded freeway on ramp the engine died. All lights went on and i had no control over the car steering or brakes. After a minute or so i was able to restart the car and it seems to drive normally.this is the third time this has happened

While making a right turn onto ramp engine falls cuts off and i have no control over steering, breaks or anything. Finally got it on to the side of road and put it in park and it cracked right up. This is very scary. What if i had been going fast down the road and could not stop the car. Someone could be killed like this. I decided to look it up on google and found out that lots of other have had the same identical problems and no mechanic or anyone can find anything. Hyundai needs to be held accountable for this and fix there miss up but of course it will take people being killed first.

3 times over the last 2 months the car stalled while driving at low speeds between 15-25 mph leaving me with no steering or power brakes. This is obviously a know problem as there are many web postings about this dangerous problem. This happened on busy streets while slowing down to make a turn.today was the 3rd time it happened

I was trying to turn left onto a cross street and as soon as i got moving the car lost power for a few seconds that started going again...this as happen 4 or 5 times and i only owned this car for 3 weeks. Hyundai can't duplicate this happening....its on the hyundai forums and they sent me here.

The vehicle was towed to the dealer and test driven, but the failure could not be duplicated.the dealer concluded that the vehicle was functioning normally. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.updated 09/01/15*ljupdated 10/14/2015

On 08/02/2014 at approximate 6 p.m., my 2012 genesis r-spec 5.0 sedan completely stalled out as i was coming to a stop at a major intersection. There was no warning or indication of any issues up to this point. It took several attempts at starting the vehicle before it finally started and continued under its own power. This type of unexplained power loss could lead to a very serious accident.the engine warning light is currently not indicating any problems so i doubt if there are any trouble codes stored. I have owned the vehicle since new and it has always been garaged and never in a accident.

This has been an ongoing issue, i know others have reported a similar problem. When coming to a stop in our 2012 genesis 3.8l the engine will shut off without any warning. This has happened more than a dozen times at this point. My wife took it to the dealer who said this issue couldn't be duplicated. The car has died in traffic and when going around a curve. Power steering is lost when this occurs making it a bit nerve wracking. This is an issue hyundai needs to address before someone is injured or worse.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the failure occurred on at least five occasions while making left or right turns. Each time the failure occurred, the contact shifted the vehicle into neutral, depressed the brake pedal, engaged the push start button feature to correct the failure, and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to don moore hyundai in owensboro, kentucky to be diagnosed, but the dealer could not determine the source of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The car will not start when the temp outside is ~40 degrees f or lower outside. It will crank non stop (push button start) but won't ever start. Car battery is only two months old. Cranks fine when the outside temp raises back up to around 45 degrees f and up. While driving today on the interstate, on the bridge, the car randomly lost all engine power. Trying to step on the gas pedal would result in the car studdering. I turned on the emergency signal and just cruised into the side lane out of traffic. Turned the car off and on and noticed the rpm idled at 1500 rpm which is insanely high. I put it in 1st gear and gave it gas, and nothing happened. The rpm meter wouldn't go up. After a few more times of cutting the engine on and off and the engine wouldn't start a few times also, it finally started and seemed to work normally. Now the car has a check engine light on.

The failure mileage was 50,000.

Engine shutdown and lost steering and brake control when making a right turn. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Details: on both the times, when i was trying to make a right turn at a slow speed the engine shut down and i lost control of steering was well as brakes. I had to put thecar in park, in the middle of the intersection and push button to start the car again. Luckily there was nothing in the way (car or a pedestrian), or else there would have been an accident. This could be an even dangerous issue if this happens when making a left turn or when on a freeway. Please issue a recall for this, and have hyundai fix this problem.

2012 genesis sedan consistently stalls under medium to low speeds while braking or making a turn. All warning lights come on and loss of steering and braking occurs. Car is difficult to control safely without use of emergency brake due to the loss of steering/braking. This incident now occurs with each car trip while traveling on all kinds or roads and at various speeds but not more than 40 miles an hour. I am worried for the safety of my wife and 3 year old child since i take them everywhere with me. Car has beenat hyundai dealership for 4 days and they can not diagnose the problem because there are no fault codes to look up.

Engine stall. While driving the car at speed below 25mph during rush hour traffic on the freeway the engine suddenly stalled. All of the lights on the dash lighted up. I was able to get the car stopped, put it in park and it started up again as if nothing happened. This has occurred 3 times in the past 12 months. The two previous times were on a city street while making a right hand turn. This time it was on a straightway. All three occurrences the car had a minimum 1/4 tank of gas, was on a level surface and traveling below 30 mph. The car has been brought to the dealer on several occasions and they cannot find any fault codes. On one occasion there was one other genesis brought in with the same problem on the same day.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While at a stop light, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration. While driving home today my car killed dead which caused the power steering to go out while i was turning off fm1960 onto kenswick in humble tx which is a very busy street.this is the 3rd time that this has happened i wrote a letter back on 5-22-15 to hyundai warranty department and have not been notified by them.this is very dangerous i could have been rear ended and god knows what else.please have this matter checked into with hyundai.thank you very much.

The car just completely shut down.fortunately, i had just turned for home on a 25 mph street so i was going slow enough that i could manage to at least get the car to the side of the road.do not know what would have happened 15 minutes earlier if it had shut down on the busy interstate i was on.it did start back up again, but now am afraid to drive it anywhere.have contacted hyundai, but if there follow-up is anything like it has been in the past, it will be a waste of my time.they will just say that they cannot reproduce the problem and send us a coffee mug hoping that will resolve the issue.we have had numerous previous electrical issues: such as car starting back up by itself after being shut off, the radio literally popping on and off, the radio locking on a station (you could change channels, but the same station kept playing),the nav turning on and off by itself.the car had been doing okay this year until this most recent incident where it just flat shut off.do not trust hyundai to solve the issue and it is to scary to drive.and i don't believe that there is a lemon law in this state.no matter what, i can assure you that this will be my last hyundai.

Complete loss of all power supply and total mechanical system/engine no longer operational

This same issue has happened about 5 times over the last year.but 2 times in the last few weeks.low speed with a slight incline in the road, the car completely shuts off.had to coast to a stop put car in park and then restart.the restart is fine and the car drives as normal.

While driving straight on a level city street at night at about 30 mph, without notice or hesitation, the engine completely quit/shut down--no power brakes or steering. I pulled over and the car coasted to a stop. All the lights went on on the dash and headlights stayed on, so there was battery power available. I placed the car in park and it restarted and drove normally. However, this has now happened three times now in last 6 months without warning.--very dangerous.

In 2011 i leased a 2012 hyundai genesis. On january 25.2013 when my car suddenly stopped. I called aaa, they came out and did a diagnostic check on my battery and told me it was fine, that something in the computer, most likely the alternator was draining the battery.on june 9th 2013 while driving my vehicle in traffic at approximately 50 mph my vehicle completely shut down. I came to a stop and it started up again. I proceeded to drive approximately 3 more miles at 45 mph, my vehicle again completely shut down, no steering no brakes. After coming to a complete stop i proceeded to the nearest service station and again contacted aaa. They came out, did a check on my battery and told me the same thing, something in the system is draining the battery. On july 8th 2013 it happened again. Aaa came out jump started my car and advised me to take it to the dealership. I drove my car to planet hyundai on .w. Sahara ave. In las vegas, nevada and told them of my problem, i left the vehicle with them. The next day they told me that they replaced the battery. I made them aware of the stalling in traffic issue weeks before, i spoke with a certified tech who told me it was absolutely not a battery issue and that person called hyundai service department and told them the same thing. I contacted hyundai customer service and spoke with jacqueline who after conferring with planet hyundai told me they were unable to duplicate the problem and they could do nothing. To work with the dealership. The head of the service dept. Told me that the genesis has a sophisticated computer and these things could happen, they tested the car and could find nothing and would provide no further explanation.. I told hyundai customer service that this is a safety issue,. Hyundai provided me with a case file # 5871296, i requested they send it to me.

Engine will shut off while driving at around speeds of 20 mph.the brakes and steering will stop.happens sporadically not often but scary.has had happen about 5 times within a year period.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving 25 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact changed the gear to neutral, hit the start button, and the vehicle returned to normal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (thornton road hyundai, located at 669 thornton rd, lithia springs, ga 30122; (678) 535-3722) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred two other times. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer, but a remedy could not be found for the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vin was invalid. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

Headlights flicker off for several seconds at a time, usually after turn signal cancels itself.happens while moving.can usually reproduce by making slight movements in turn signal stalk.

At night with headlights on when you use turn signals the headlight go out for a moment.

When the headlights are in the "on" position they turn off when the turn signal is used.this happens consistently and is reproducible.

When turning right, headlights in 'on' position and turn indicators functioning headlights flickered then went out for a period of 2-3 seconds once turn signals returned to neutral position.have experienced same failure several times since initial.dealer could not duplicate problem and refused to repair.other genesis drivers reporting same failure - some have had turn signal stalk replaced under warranty.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. -the headlights went out.. 15 feb 2014, 5 june 2015, 30 aug 2019.-lost of head lightsfor 15-20 seconds or longer-unknown cause 1st timer replaced computer chip in a computer chip. Second time replaced multi function switch, n/c repair request.the contact stated that when attempting to turn right (traveling approximately 5 mph ) the lights went out, then 20 seconds after they came back. Also stated that the vehicle was repaired in february 2014 by the dealer davis hyundai, 1655 n olden ave, trenton, nj 08638 for the same failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

There has been numerous occasions when my headlights are on and i engage a turn signal, both headlights turn-off for a period of about 1 to 2 seconds.this can be deadly when traveling at a significant speed during hours of darkness.

The headlights completely turn off for around a second when turn signal is engaged or disengaged. Problem happens sporadically and has only been observed when the headlights are in the on, not auto mode. This sudden and brief, unexpected lack of visibility at night is dangerous.

Since i bought this car when i use the turn signals at night, my headlights would turn off a second or two.also i've noticed a slightest movement or pressure on the turn signal stalk can caused the headlights to flicker.this events occurred randomly, around few times a week, but still causing a hazardous driving condition at night when the headlights are completely off for few seconds.this even occurred randomly when the turn signal stalk is used whether the car is moving or parking. I believed there is a problem with the light on/off & turn signal stalk design that causing the headlights to go off and/or flickering randomly when using the turn signal.

When turn signal is turned on lights go off for 2 to 5 seconds seems to be getting worse, called dealer was told to bring in car for inspection, this is probably happening to other genesis owners, have restricted my night driving due to safety concerns.

With low beam headlights on while driving, activating the turn signal will turn on high beam headlights or cause the low beams to turn off intermittently (about half of turn signal operations).lightly touching or tapping the light stalk will have the same effect.on occasion, the headlights will cease functioning on low beam with no driver activity.this problem has been occurring for the past 3 months. Other genesis owners have reported the same problem on the hyundai genesis owners website.i have stopped driving the car at night.

The headlights randomly turn off when the headlight switch is in the "on" position.this problem has occurred when the car is in motion at various speeds from residential street to freeway, while turning or going straight as well as when it is stationary.after the problem has occurred, touching or moving the turn signal stalk will usually cause the headlights to come back on.the problem has never occurred when the switch is in the "auto" position.the problem has occurred many times but is hard to replicate on demand.it is happening with more frequency now.the hyundai dealer will not fix the problem because they can not duplicate it on demand.

Headlights blink on/off when using turn signal. Doing research, i see that many people have complained about this and the fix is to replace the turn signal stalk ($400).

Headlights flicker on and off when using the turn signal.it occurs when driving the car.

Headlights flicker on and off when turn signal is engaged, dangerous at night. Happens while in motion or sitting at a traffic light. Car has just over 48k miles

While driving at night with headlights set to on used left turn signal and headlights briefly went out.since then have had approximately 3 or 4 further incidents like this.i believe at least one incident occurred when steering wheel was turned but turn signal not used (was going around curve).outage lasts for just about a second.

The headlights will flicker off in the "on" mode when using the turn signals, such as during lane changes. Sometimes will not turn back on until the turn signal stalk is bumped again. Car can be stationary or moving. Does not happen with headlights in "auto" mode.

At night headlights turn off momentarily when in motion and using turn signals and turning.

When the headlight switch is in the on position, as opposed to auto, the headlights may occasionally flicker.this problem is exacerbated by using the turn signals.sometimes the headlights turn off completely when the turn signal is activated and i have to move the turn signal stalk until the lights come back on.again, this doesn't happen when the headlights are in auto.it's mostly noticeable in the rain when the headlights don't come on automatically and i have to turn them on manually.i first noticed the issue in 2015 when the vehicle was about 3 years old.

Veering right since new 7/2012 on freeway and city streets.undercarriage right side "tweaked" per hyundai service rep in 2016.in shop since april 22 and out may 14, /2017 right control arm broken and coil spring bad (fixed per service rep), alignment still in red right front camber; steering wheel severely off center at times and now veers more to left and sometimes to right on city streets and highway; when coming to stop steering wheel becomes severely off center.in april2017 was losing speed even though pressing on gas pedal and acting if wanting to stall several times with in a week (happening a few other times in past but thought due to being cold or bad gas.. When this happened psi light turned on.happening on freeway and while merging onto freeway and other times on city streets.when this happened in april 2017 the last time with the wanting to stall problem steering wheel became really off center (dealer notified and taken to shop on 4/25/2017). Also would not go into reverse the same day of losing power wanting to stall. (happening a few other times in the past).now ac air force low and doesn't cool as prior to being in shop 4/2017 and blows hot air at times.airbag sensors not working properly as before shop visit 4/2017.have had paint chipping problems on body of driver door and passenger door and around truck area.has also had fuel pump issues, repeaired once (when pumping gas pump constantly clicking off).poor suspension rear end feels like it bottoms out when going over bad road/bumps on freeway and city streets.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving at any speed, an alarming odor of fuel emitted from the rear driver side wheel. The dealer diagnosed that a vale in the fuel tank failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.

My car was serviced 3 times at dealer due to gasoline smell issue after driving 2 hours continuously at high temperature 100+. I have to inhaling the gas most time when i drive back to home. Hyundai is trying to ignore this hazard/safety/health issue... What will happen if i get hit by other vehicle while gas fume is releasing from my car? how about other people seating in my car while i drive this car?

While driving down interstate heard loud noise under car. Five miles later i parked car in driveway, and started smelling gas, looked under car and found quarter size hole in gas tank, the tank should have shield around it to prevent this. The exhaust pipe runs next to gas tank which could cause car to burst into flames. If not full shield at least diverter plate in front of gas tank.cost of new fuel tank runs around $500.00 and only dealer have it.

Genesis stalls at slow speeds either turning for going straight. Replaced throttle body, but still stalls. Also has trouble starting sometimes. Battery is new.

When driving our car, it just dies with no for warning what so ever.this has happened 7 or 8 times over the past two years, so it is not something that happens all the time but when it does it can be extremely dangerous.this has happened driving down interstate all the way to slowing down for stopped traffic.we started working with fort mill hyundai over two years ago and have been told things like our oil change was past due to my wife doesn't drive the car hard enough, both laughable responses to a very serious issue.we were getting nowhere with the dealer so i contacted hyundai corporate and again got a laughable response from their internet team.when i pushed the issue and brought up someone was going to get hurt or killed and they would hear from an attorney they had their regional manager out of atlanta call me (i believe his name is [xxx], he talked me into taking the car to keith hawthorne hyundai as the fort mill location did not follow their internal procedures.in working with the keith hawthorne team they felt they could help me out.after having my car for 10 days they called me and told me to pick up the car as hyundai will not authorize them to do anything on the car.i completely realize the technology and complexity of todays automobiles and was trying to remain patient and work with them even though i felt it put my family at risk.unfortunately hyundai has made the decision to not work with me leaving me no option but to reach out to you.a side note, if you do a quick google search you will see we are not the only genesis owner having these problems, so hyundai has a bigger problem than just my car.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Cylinders were misfiring.dealer said it was due to computer software issue which caused insufficient fuel delivery to the cylinders. Dealer updated software which seems to have remedied the problem.when the problem occurred, the car lost some of its power and vibrated.i was on a side street with little traffic at the time, so the hazard was minimal.however, if the same situation happens to others on the freeway or in heavy traffic, or when full power is needed to avoid an accident, it could be hazardous.

An alarming smell of gas fumes could be smelled emanating from the driver's rear wheel well.i took it to the jim clickbody shop that had recently repaired the car in that area and they found no leaks but verified the fumesa.the next day i took it to jim click hyundai at the auto mall to be repaired . They could not reproduce the problem.the dealer has reported several occurrences of this type.this is a very hot temp time here as an aside.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While the contact was attempting to place the vehicle in drive and release the parking brake, the vehicle made a loud abnormal noise. The vehicle was towed to sport durst hyundai (4507 durham-chapel hill blvd, durham, nc 27707 (919) 251-5996) where the contact was informed that the motor for the electronic parking brake needed to be replaced and the brakes were faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.

Had the transmission replaced at 57xxx due to faulty syncronizers inside the transmission. Now 14000 miles later it needs replaced again but is not covered this time. I am not the only personnto have this problem as it is rather common.

I was trying to turn left onto a cross street and as soon as i got moving the car lost power for a few seconds that started going again...this as happen 4 or 5 times and i only owned this car for 3 weeks. Hyundai can't duplicate this happening....its on the hyundai forums and they sent me here.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the gear shifter did not engage in drive and seized completely. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to john amato hyundai (414-357-8500, located at 8301 n 76th st, milwaukee, wi 53223) where it was diagnosed that the shifter gear was corroded. The technician cleaned the gear. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 49,259. *dt *dt

Accelerating from 0 though 30 miles per hour car pulls and makes a big noise.passengers feel like we where hit from behind. Other times refuses to accelerate.to engage.problem occurs on city and traffic.once on highway, car runs well.car has been in the hyundai dealer since november 2,2018.hyundai has been running test after test after test and are not honoring the power train warranty and will not give me a loaner. I established a case with hyundaiusa #12341664 to no avail.still not fixing the car.keep running test after test after test.need help !.

Transmission slips. I'm at 80k miles. I thought i could determine which gears it's slipping but at times it's been between 2 &3, 3&4.the car will rev high on rpms with out correlating speed and then catch.jerks between gears at times.i feel so unsafe in this hyundai and i don't i can afford the cost. I know it's not from my driving.

I had this verified scenario by the local hyundai technician while he had the computer hooked to my car and i consistently duplicated the problem.while quickly decelerating from 25-20 mph to under 5mph the transmission delays the shift from 3rd or 4th gear directly to 1st gear by 2-4 seconds without any power.when immediate power is needed the delay causes me to give it more gas in hopes of more immediate response.eventually the car gives sudden acceleration often times triggering the traction control to engage.this has caused a few near miss accidents for me.i bring it up to the dealership everytime i have the car serviced but it doesn't appear hyundai has a fix.i have also sent in this issue directly to hyundai usa.the issue is the shift pattern from 3rd or 4th directly to 1st gear.if the car would downshift evenly 4,3,2 then the proper gear would be engaged when power is needed.

The vehicle accelerated without the gas pedal having a force applied thereto and with the brake pedal being depressed.once the automatic transmission was placed in park, the engine operated at over 3,000 rpm without the gas pedal being depressed.once the engine is turned off and restarted the vehicle operates normally for a short period of time.

Our 2012 genesis 4.6l v-8 with the 8 speed automatic transmission has an intermittent problem with the transmission. The transmission will at times and w/o warning shift harshly during up-shifts even at low motor speeds which can cause the car to lurch unpredictably, this behavior is very concerning particularly duringturns on city streets or in slow stop and go traffic conditions. This behavior started at about 70,000 miles and now is at 79,000 mile. Initially this problem was very intermittent and would happen whether the car was hot or cold. Now this problem can occur for a few days at a time then suddenly start shifting normally for a few days then return to the harsh shifting problem. The transmission also intermittently has a down shifting issue where it doesn't seem to know when to downshift and will, as an example, delay the down shift as your slowing to stop at a red traffic lightremaining in one of the higher gears then suddenly downshift into second or first gear when your nearly stopped. As you proceed following the traffic light change the transmission may shift normally or shift harshly through the next few gears or all of them. The transmission just recently has just started a new shifting problem in that it intermittently acts like it is slipping and then suddenly engages, just as if it were in neutral momentarily and then droppedinto gear. The genesis has been to three hyundai dealers for the harsh shifting and delayed downshiftissueswithout resolution. I would characterize the unpredictable" lurching behavior"( a result of the harsh up-shifts)as a safety issue and to a lesser degree the delayed rough down-shifts unless of course the "bad" downshift occurs on a wet or icy pavement with the genesis being a rear-wheel drive vehicle of course

According to hyundai dealer, nothing wrong with transmission, they are unable to "duplicate the issue" i am experiencing, delayed shifting, high rpms, engine revs, andviolently knocks into gear, runs normal for a few days and then back to the [xxx]! also experiencing an issue when putting gas in the car, gas pump abruptly stops as if tank is full when it is not. We need a recall!parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Week of sept 20th transmission was skipping when changing gears during low speed and violently jerked. Took car to dealer to check out and they said they could not find anything wrong but reset transmission adaptive values.transmission was fine for 3 weeks but then problem reoccurred but was worst.after transmission jerked, going under 25 miles, transmission struggle to change gears.mostly coasted home and immediately called dealer.next day return car to dealer and they determined transmission needed to be replaced.eta 2 weeks

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While at a stop light, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration. During the incident, the brakes malfunctioned and would not immediately stop the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed. Moments later, the engine backfired and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (hyundai of coconut creek in coconut creek, fl) where it was diagnosed that the engine valve was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 65,000.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving, the gear shifted out of drive independently. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and shifted the gear into reverse and then into drive. The contact was able to drive, but the failure recurred down the road. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence and the transmission warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000. The vin was invalid.

When turning steering wheel a number of things can happen, radio turns off, steering locks up. All dash lights come on and power batt light lights up. Has stalled in intersection when turning. Trans shifts hard and slips into gear when on a long drive

While accelerating, the transmission would slip.this would cause the car to lose power while the gear slipped, then the gear would catch and the car would surge forward.the dealer could not find an issue and gave the car back to me.the problem returned, so i had the car towed back to the dealer.the dealer replaced the automatic transmission and the issue resolved.the replaced transmission began to exhibit the same behavior approximately 35,000 miles later.

Issue in which the transmission does not shift smoothly into 2nd and 3rd gear. Typically, the transmission will shift somewhat smoothly for a few days, but then shifting gets progressively rough until the car shudders to the point that it's physically painful, embarrassing, stressful, as well as dangerous! it seems to return to slightly normal shifting for a couple of days, thus restarting it's vicious cycle. I called hyundai's customer service line and was advised that there are "no active campaigns" for my vin in regards to the transmission. Yet, the make, model, and year is associated with tsb no. 15-at-005 "drivability problems with transmissions". Many people are having the same issues, a recall is in order.

Sometime the transmission shift very hard while driving,it has a wild unexpected jerk

Clutch burnt out at 26,000 miles. After researching i noticed 2000+ posts on following website which shows that many genesis coupes have problems with manual transmissions. I did not drive my car rough or do anything besides safe driving. The clutch is abnormally expensive as well - $4000 repair for a car which is barely valued at $10k. I only drove 26k miles in 5+ years!

The hyundai genesis has a transmission problem where it slips out of gear and rough shifts 2-3rd gear and 4-5th gear. I took the car to the dealer and they could not duplicate.they updated software, no change.i contacted hyundai multiple times.i am second owner of vehicle with 45k on it.they would not honor factory warranty since i am second owner.the tsb no. 15-at-005 applies to this problem.the transmission should have been recalled instead of tsb.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving 25 mph, the contact approached a traffic light and the vehicle shut off. All the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. After waiting a few minutes, the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive home. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while driving at a low rate of speed, the vehicle stalled after the accelerator pedal was released. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was shifted into neutral, restarted, and operated as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while shifting from reverse to drive, the vehicle continued to drive in reverse. The vehicle was restarted and functioned normally. The vehicle was later taken to the dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 90. The current mileage was approximately 100.

Hello, my 2012 genesis sedan 5.0l r-spec only has 33k miles on it and i bought it at 21k. I am the 2nd owner and therefore technically outside of warranty, i know this. However, my genesis' transmission has been experiencing rough and occasional slipping shifts every time i drive it. Through research amongst other owners of the same make and model, i have discovered that this issue is quite common in this model year car and that hyundai has already replaced hundreds if not thousands of these faulty transmissions. When this occurs, it indicates a flaw in the manufacturer's design and i believe hyundai should take responsibility for that fact and repair or replace the parts under warranty or goodwill if outside of warranty. This problem could cause major damage to the car or myself when driving if it decides to suddenly slip when i am making a turn with oncoming traffic on the way. This makes me feel very unsafe when driving my car. Specifically, the problem occurs mostly shifting between gears 2&3, 4&5 as well as 5&6 and usually slips rpms a little from 6 to 7 or 7 to 8. The shifts, when not slipping, will be rough and abrupt. I wouldn't describe it as slamming into gear, but rather a jolt that can be felt in the seat and just isn't as smooth as other gears. I also experience issues when shifting from park to drive, drive to park, park to reverse, reverse to park, or any combination of the described shifts will create a rough clunk when the gear engages. You can also feel a thud when kicking down the accelerator to pass a vehicle as it downshifts through gears. All of these symptoms on top of a fluid change producing no positive results indicate a problem with the transmission at 33k miles.

When driving at slower speeds (<30) on a city street, while driving straight, as i lifted my foot off the gas pedal, the car continued to accelerate. Pressing the brake slowed it but did not stop the problem. I pulled the car over and put it in park. When placed in park, the engine revved loudly. I pressed the button to turn the ignition off. This has happened 3 separate times. Once in july and 2 times on august 21.

Very bad knocking with manual transmission. This occurred while clutch pedal was disengaged and transmission in neutral.

The rear center seat belt anchor and the left seat belt anchor are reversed. When one passenger fastens their seat belt it covers the anchor point for the other passenger. The only way to connect both is to twist the seat belts across each other. In the event of an accident, the applied forces would not be in line with the seat belt anchor points and would most likely not conform to the intended designs parameters.this also causes the seat belts to go across my grand childrens necks when they are in the back seat in their booster seats which would cause them serious harm in a accident. The hyundai dealer has looked at the problem and agrees that the anchor points are backwards but they said that it cannot be reversed due to the way the car is designed.

Rear left and center inboard female seat belt buckles are reversed.this prevents use of the center belt when the left outboard seat belt is buckled as the belt covers the inboard center buckle.need dealer recall to fix problem and have hyundai recognize their problem.

Passenger airbag light is always illuminated, with or without someone in the seat. Called the dealer and they told me that they 'put a seatbelt label on,' and that i can pay $145 for the diagnosis.

The set position of the seat wont go to the position the put itonand tha seat get stock for 10 to 20 minute and then you can star move again

While in park, passenger side headrest exploded. Car has never been in a wreck, not even the slightest fender bender. There was no reason this should have deployed. Plastic clamps flew out. Dealership said this was unrepairable and whole seat would need to be replaced. I was lucky not to have a passenger that day or they would have suffered injuries.

Head rest popped open, twice.first time both headrest popped open and hyundai repaired it with just a copay on my part.second time, they stated needs to be replaced at my expense.i stated that no one buys a car expecting the head rest to pop open and require replacement.they insist it is my issue.car was in garage when head rest pooped open.if we were driving the vehicle, i am sure an accident would have occurred. Even if i have it replaced, what assurances would i have this won't happen again.and if it does and either my wife or i driving the vehicl,e we could be injured this is a vehicle defect and a safety issue.

Car turned off by itself while driving.steering and braking were affected and not working.

Brakes went soft after a few minutes of driving. Normal braking through several stop and go intersections. Then a sudden unexpected change which resulted in pressing pedal to the floor and the brakes barely slowed the car.turning the car off and back on restored braking to normal use.

While traveling at about 10mph in a parking lot the brake pedal went to the floor when i tried to stop. There was minimal braking.the brakes started to work normally and then failed again within minutes. The car was then towed to the dealer. Thedealer said there was no recall on my car and so did hyundai.i researched the nhtsa data base and found the recall related to brake failures in the genesis which would have affected my car. I have never received a recall notice even though my car was produced 3/24/12 and according to nhtsa all cars produced up to and including 3/28/12 were to have been recalled .

While driving approximately 25 mph and attempting to stop, the brake pedal extended to the floorboard and the vehicle would not stop. After pumping the brake pedal several times, the vehicle was able to be stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic electronic control unit was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 92,000.

Vehicles brake pedal became very soft and needed to press down all the way down on the pedal for the vehicle to stop. Was driving on the highway when this occurred.drove straight to the hyundai dealer and told the service tech of my issue. Received a call from the advisor where he explained the abs system on the vehicle had failed and needed to be replaced. Cost is $2,300 plus $260 for the front pads. I quickly did aresearch on my vehicle and saw this is a recall problem with my car but the advisor said that was just a rumor online and it was not true. Called hyundai and they said the recall was performed at the dealer in january 2014 but i don't have a service record stating this. Calledthe dealer back to gain a copy of the recall work order and it just states "recall itemsection performed" without any details. Dealer refuses to correct issue and stated my only options are to pay 3k in repairs or drive off the vehicle with care. Also my carjust lapsed the 60k mile warranty about 3 months ago.

My wife and i have a 2012 hyundai genesis 3.8 sedan. My wife is the primary driver. She came home one evening and told me that the car failed to stop and went into the intersection as she attempted to stop for a red traffic signal. I immediately drove the car down the street and observed that you had to pump the brakes to stop and the pedal went to the floor. I added some brake fluid and pumped the brakes. I drove the care the next few days and noticed that over time the same thing happened with the pedal going to the floor. I took the car to my mechanic and had all the brakes changed. That cost me over $320.00. The mechanic advised me that the car had a faulty master cylinder. To shorten the story. Due to the dealer cost of from $275.00 to $365.00 for a master cylinder. I bought 2 online and 1 at oreilly auto parts. I spent $105.00, $81, and $79.00 for each respectively. Each time the mechanic advised me that the were not compatible. He was so conflicted by the process advised me to take the care to the dealer and told me that with only 91000 miles and a well maintained 4 year old car, it is unheard of for a master cylinder to be faulty. I contacted hyundai and was told there was no recall nor was my vehicle covered by my factory warrantee. I am a retired auto theft officer so i decided to check with nhtsa for complaints and recalls.i am positive that this recall applies to my car.i have had the same process happen to me regarding the windshield wiper motor. Hyundai would not help so i found a motor at a junk yard. I paid to have it installed. However it only works at one speed. I would like it replaced and a refund for the cost incurred to find and replace it.i also would like the braking system repaired and compensation.hyundai's recall number is 114.i would like to invoke the lemon law..

Emergency parking brake suddenly activates without touching any controls.epb light appears on the dashboard.when car is placed in park, epb light goes off but epb is still engaged.epb light reappears when car is placed in drive and epb is still engaged.turning off engine and restarting does not solve the problem.only way to solve the problem is to place the transmission in drive and floor the accelerator.epb makes loud noise and there is significant resistance from the epb but the epb finally disengages and car drives normally.smell is present from the epb system and resultant examination of system shows flaking of pad from heat caused by procedure.dealer has been informed of problem since 2013 but says it can do nothing because it cannot replicate the problem.diagnostic shows three codes dealing with epb system but dealer says codes are "general" in nature and do not pinpoint the problem.says nothing can be done until problem is replicated in presence of dealer.failure has thus far only occurred when vehicle is stopped but my fear is that it will happen when the vehicle is moving.putting pressure on the brake pedal and attempting to disengage the epb using the epb tab for "engage/disengage" does not work.date given below is the latest occurrence.problem has existed on and off for more than three years.problem occurs randomly and intermediately.vehicle left with dealer on three separate occasions but dealer could not get problem to occur and will not make repairs because of this.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving 20 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to come to a complete halt. The contact had to pump the brake pedal multiple times in order to stop the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic), but the vin was not included. The failure mileage was 64,000.

Brake pedal occasionally will not engage the brakes until it is at the floor.feels like a brake failure at first and the pedal moves all the way to the floor before the brakes engage.almost had a wreck running into the back of someone from this.it does not do this all the time, but is now happening more frequently.usually once or twice a week.

My windshield wipers do not clear the windshield properly in inclement weather, my brakes sometimes make scrubbing sounds, my tires seem slippery sometimes when turning a curve, and my car jerks sometimes when pulling off after sitting still.

I was driving at a speed of around 35 to 40 mph on a street (that's not highway). I was maintaining a proper distance too from the car in front of me. For some reason the car in front of me stopped suddenly. I responded immediately, but the braking was so soft and i felt like nothing has been done and i bumped into the car ahead of me. I really thought at the time of the incident that, something was not right, but didn't think too much into it. A day after i heard these recall news and i can now totally relate my case with the descriptions of other victims.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving 5 mph, the brakes failed. The contact continued to depress the brake pedal and it traveled to the floorboard of the vehicle. The contact was able to use the brakes just enough to get the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer repaired the brakes, but the issue recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 47,000.

Sometime the transmission shift very hard while driving,it has a wild unexpected jerk

I have had no accidents for over 20 years, now i have two fender benders - rear end collisions. The first one, 10/07/11, was at less than or about 5mph and i remember braking as usual but it failed to stop and rear ended the vehicle in front. Only minor damages due to the speed involved. Next, today 11/14/11, i braked when a truck cut me off and merged on to the freeway from an exit only lane at the last minute, still it made contact with that truck, this time moderate damage to my vehicle and none to the truck. The speed here was about 10-15mph. I have observed that when i put my leg on the brake pedal while starting, it goes down a little bit which may be normal, but, i am afraid that such a travel / ply could have happened during the above two collisions because i could not believe that it traveled even after i slammed on the brakes.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. Upon starting the vehicle, the emergency brake indicator flashed, alerting the driver to contact the dealer. The vehicle was taken to dick smith hyundai (825 congaree rd, greenville, sc 29607) where it was diagnosed that there was a brake fluid leakage that caused corrosion and brake failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 49,000.

2012 hyundai genesis.consumer writes in regards to vehicle brake system recall.the consumer wanted to voice his concern about the recall that was announced, and how the dot 3 brake fluid was suspected of causing contamination of the heca. The consumer stated his brake fluid was replaced with dot 4 when hyundai performed the tsb. However, the same heca unit remained in his vehicle. The new recall stated for vehicles manufacturer after june 1, 2010 dealers would flush the hecu assembly/valves and brake system using hyundai's dealer diagnostic tool and change the brake fluid with fluid containing additional corrosion inhibitor additive. The recall made no mention oninspecting the hecu internals for corrosion. The consumer would like to know, how can hyundai assure him that his hecu has no corrosion, even in the slightest measurement.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving 40 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to stop. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle drifted until it came to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to long hyundai (6039 international dr, chattanooga, tn 37421, (423) 243-3368) where the contact was informed that the abs control unit need to be replaced. I was driving at a speed of about 50mph when a large truck ran through a stoplight on 9/10/2017. I applied my brakes and the pedal went all the way to the floor. The vehicle slowed and i was able to narrowly avoid the truck actually by inches. My car was towed to the hyundai dealer and has had the abs brake module replaced. The brake fluid recall tl6 was performed 6/17/2013.on 5/26/2016 i took the genesis to the dealer because of a similar brake failure. Dealer told me everything was normal and sent me home with the car. I was not notified that this has been a danger with this car. I feel it is a serious danger to me and to the safety of the public and i should have been notified of the danger when the fluid recall was done in 2013.

I own a 2012 hyundai genesis and experience a very low grip on my brake pedal. It has just been confirmed from a hyundai dealership that the hecu is bad and needs to be replaced (11/20/19).hyundai has recalled certain model year 2009-2012 genesis sedans under recall 114 or nhtsa campaign 13v489 for the hecu.i have been told, however, that my vin does not qualify for the safety repair.i find it highly unusual that i am experiencing the identical problem that so many other genesis sedans have faced, yet am being denied the necessary repair.i am asking that my vin be included in the recall as i am very concerned for my safety at this point.keeping in mind the safety of others as well, all genesis sedans made during 2009 and 2012 should be re-looked at again.it is a $3000 fix and i cannot tell you how unfair it is to know that other hyundai genesis owners have had their hecu's replaced under the recall.why is their safety more important than mine?

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving 35 mph, the brake pedal had to be depressed to the floorboard and the vehicle eventually stopped. At every stop, the contact had to pump the brake pedal to build up the pressure. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (nalley hyundai, 7909 mall pkwy, lithonia,ga, 30038) where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic electronic control unit failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who confirmed the same failure and informed the contact of the recall. The mechanic recommended the contact go back to the dealer. The dealer confirmed that there was a recall per nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes); however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not reference the recall. Due to the warranty and because the vehicle exceeded the mileage, the repair would not be covered. The failure mileage was approximately 77,175.

While driving the car to work i noticed that the brakes suddenly went soft. The car would slow down when i hit the pedal but in order to stop the car i had to nearly press the brake pedal to the floor. Later in the same drive the brakes functioned normally. I didn't notice another problem with the brakes for at least a week until my daughter drove the car and nearly hit someone because the brakes did not stop as she expected. I noticed that if i pumped the brake pedal the pressure would return for a while but then it would go soft again once i drove it and the pedal is pressed. At the point the pressure would not return consistently and it was questionable if the car would stop i took it to the dealership.the service department informed me that the abs module has failed and that it would be a matter of time before my brakes would totally fail. There was no indication of the abs module failing. No abs light; no brake light; no check engine light. For this to affect the safety system of the car i would expect there to be some type of indication of failure. The dealer informed me that the module is $2200 for replacement! the car is only 5 years old why would the abs module fail in such a relatively new vehicle?

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the abs system failed. The contact also stated that when driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the brakes failed to respond. The contact was able to avoid a crash. The vehicle was taken to the earnhardt hyundai north scottsdale dealer (8445 e frank lloyd wright blvd, scottsdale, az 85260) where the vehicle was diagnosed. The diagnosis determined that the failure part was the abs system and no further information was available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000. The vin was not provided.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. When the vehicle was started, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to safford hyundai (located at 7615 loisdale road, springfield, va 22150, tel: (703) 776-9040) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the hydraulic electronic control unit failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was provided case number: 10367277. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

My abs brake module failed on tuesday afternoon 12/13/17. I had very little braking power, pedal goes to the floor. I bought it to the dealer and they said the brake module needs to be replaced.we were going straight and almost hit the car in front of us.i bought the genesis in oct. 2011 new. It is a 2012 with 32,789 miles.

Bh genesis sedan hecu inspection and brake fluid replacement (recall 114). Brake failing, dealer diagnosis (attached) said that the brake fluid has already been change before i bought the car and that the hecu that is failing should be at my charge. Car only has 70,000 miles, 5 years old , i argued that this unit should not been failing and that they may have take too long to change the fluid that caused corrosion. Hyundai was fine for recall long overdue. Attached is diagnosis, recall from nhtsa and fine. Thank you for your help.

The brake pedal of my car is soft and deep, and the braking is not done properly. After about a month and a half, thesymptoms appeared and i changed the brake pads. Every day driving is a continuation of tension. I went to the designated service center and inspected it. During the re-run, the same phenomenon continued, and after a week again, i had to change the abs module. How much of an abs module does it have grounded like a brake pad? i can't understand it. I looked at the internet and the model i was riding was subject to recall.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated received a recall notification of nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and had the vehicle serviced at all star hyundai (3950 century ct, pittsburg, ca 94565). The contact stated that one day after starting the vehicle, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard without warning. The contact took the vehicle to dick hannah vw of portland (12345 e burnside st, portland, or 97233) where the hydraulic electric control unit was replaced due to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

The brake pedal goes completely to the floor.brakes act as if failing.dealer diagnosed brake master cylinder defect, requiring replacement of the master cylinder.mileage only 67,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed, but it required an extended braking distance in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was confirmed that the brakes were soft; however, no further repair diagnostics were provided. The contact was informed of nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). Harrisonburg hyundai (2811 s main st, harrisonburg, va) was called and stated that the vin was excluded from the recall. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 77,086. Consumer stated brake pedal is very soft and must press entirely to the floor to stop vehicle. It occurred very rapidly, no lead up to problem. Dealership drained the brake fluid and reset each vale in the abs system. This has the brakes working normal again. However, the dealership said this may not be a permanent fix. Updated 10/12/18

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle failed to stop as the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. The contact had to pump the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to a dealer (merced hyundai, 1620 v st, merced, ca 95340, 209-384-2000) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall; therefore, the contact should get the vehicle repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

When the brake pedal was depressed today 08/23/19, it traveled to the floorboard, barely escaping rear ends of several vehicles on the highway and city streets. There was no warning indicator illuminated.there is no evidence of a brake fluid leak. There is the appropriate amount of brake fluid in the reservoir.having entered my vin # into this site has provided no recalls. Although reading everything about no.114, that i have sounds like it should be and it should be corrected. Some people, who have also had this problem, said that the brake fluid used was causing failure in the master brake cylinder valves. This is obviously a manufacturer error, and hyundai should be held responsible.i have unfortunately had to leave my car due to this safety hazard over hour and a half from home.this needs to be addressed/fixed quickly.

Approached an exit from a parking lot and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor without applying the brake. Was able to pump the brake pedal and get the brakes to work. The pedal now is about half ofwhat it used to be and requires pumping each time the brakes are used to apply the brakes. Pedal is erratic; sometimes i have about half pedal before a firm brake pedal. Other times it is even lower. I have no pictures or documentation to include that would be relevant to this issue.

Ref:nhtsa campaign no 13v489000hyundai genesis 2012, 4.6l, v8, 4 door sedan, with approx 77000 miles. In the last 6 weeks we had the brake pedal go all the way to the floor 3 times with little or no braking occurring. Two weeks ago this car was taken into liberty (feldman) hyundai in new hudson, mich for repair of this brake problem.after $95 for an 'inspection,' which did not include any oil change, the report was that no problem was found.this car was serviced in march, 2014, per hyundai recall no. 114 bh hecu, which called for inspection and replacing the brake fluid.this was done. There have been no brake problems since that time until about 6 weeks ago. On october 23rd, 2019, the brakes on my 2012 hyundai genesis r-spec sedan suddenly failed with the brake pedal going all the way to the floor before the vehicle eventually stopped luckily avoiding an accident.i was driving on the highway.the vehicle has 79k miles.i then took the car to the hyundai dealer in st. Louis park, mn and they determined that the brake master cylinder was faulty and replaced.the diagnosis and repair did not fix the issue as the brake pedal was still spongy and going to the floor intermittently.i will be taking the car back to the dealer to have them fix it correctly. While researching the issue, i have found that multiple other owners of the same car have experienced this issue and the dealer had to replace the abs hydraulic electronic control unit (hecu) as it contained corrosion within the unit due to bad design which causes hydraulic braking failure to occur at any time.this campaign/recall below outlines the issue which i am going to present to the dealer to fix correctly as i am still under warranty.to me, this is a life or death type failure and could result in injuries.hyundai should be responsible for replacing all abs hecu before lives are lost for all 2009-2012 hyundai genesis, not just some vins that they deemed troublesome.they should take responsibility for all cars and immediately contact their owners. Soft braking, intermittent. Pedal goes down to the floor and must be pumped to stop. I took it to my go-to guy who specializes in brakes and he couldn't recreate it. He took look at everything and couldn't find issue in the brakes themselves. Recently happened again.

Driving home last night my entire braking system went out. I lost all control to use the brakes to stop and all indicator lights were lit up on the dashboard. I notice a recall issue with the hecu but looks like my vehicle is not included in the recall. Why is that?

Brake pedal began is requiring more and more travel to achieve braking effectiveness. There is no evidence of a brake fluid leak. There is no reduction of brake fluid in the reservoir. The ability to modulate braking is impaired at times and one must pump the brake pedal to build pressure to stop.

Having issues with brakes going all the way to floor. Have had them replaced and after a few months problem returns. Was this vehicle repaired as part of recall 114 nhtsa recall 13v489000.

Brake pedal goes to floorboard -- can pump and get partial brake - afraid to drive at higher speeds -- have had the master cylinder replaced and brake system bled- did not help the problem

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. When the brake pedal was depressed, it traveled to the floorboard. There was no warning indicator illuminated. Napleton's north palm hyundai (3703 northlake blvd, lake park, fl 33403, 1-888-691-9402) was contacted and stated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the recall campaign. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

Brake failure. Brake pedal must be pumped to completely depress the brakes and stop the car. This issue persists throughout use of the vehicle and no matter whether at highway speeds or in town. The issue began suddenly and has been consistent with the vehicle since that point. The brakes not being fully functional render the car unsafe to drive under any driving conditions. Cruise control light turns on intermittently and cruise control is fequently unavailable on the car.

Car's steering tracking to the right consistently at highway speed (within 5 seconds).two dealers both claim this to be normal after multiple visits. Technician claim their sop only test at 45mph for 7 seconds. Corporate office also refused to help.

When turning steering wheel a number of things can happen, radio turns off, steering locks up. All dash lights come on and power batt light lights up. Has stalled in intersection when turning. Trans shifts hard and slips into gear when on a long drive

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and shut off. In addition, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle was placed in park and restarted. The contact called the safford hyundai of springfield dealer at 703-776-9040 (located at 7615 loisdale rd a, springfield, va 22150) and was informed that the failure could be the brakes. The vehicle was scheduled for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case number was provided by the manufacturer's consumer affairs division. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Was driving the car and steering wheel locked on a highway on my way to work. Was able to pull it over cut the car off.started it back up and was find. Then on the way back home happened again when tried to exit off the highway and ended up in a ditch.

Car turned off by itself while driving.steering and braking were affected and not working.

2012 hyundai genesis. Consumer writes in regards to defective unibody *tgwthe consumer stated she heard a squeaking noise coming from the side of the vehicle when driving on side roads at 5- 30 mph. The dealer stated the cause was from poor welding on the unibody brace of the vehicle.the dealer was not able to repair the vehicle, nor had they ever seen such a robotic weld defect on any other vehicle they serviced before. Therefore, they had to send the vehicle to a body shop, to drill out and re-seal the body seam and re-finish it.

Car's steering tracking to the right consistently at highway speed (within 5 seconds).two dealers both claim this to be normal after multiple visits. Technician claim their sop only test at 45mph for 7 seconds. Corporate office also refused to help.

My windshield wipers do not clear the windshield properly in inclement weather, my brakes sometimes make scrubbing sounds, my tires seem slippery sometimes when turning a curve, and my car jerks sometimes when pulling off after sitting still.

Tires-michelin energy saver a/s size: p235/50r18 on the front passenger side. The tire has a 5" deep crack on the outside wall of the tire and also several other noticeable cracks throughout the tire especially on the outer wall.

Since new it has been difficult to maintain alignment.at first it would be aligned and then it would take 5000 miles to move out of spec (bad on all numbers, but camber and caster are the worst).service has tried to claim it received frame damage at some point.after conducting an undercar review there appears to be no damaged suspension components.there is a non-structural plastic support at the base of the radiator that was distorted when the car struck a tire tread on the freeway.the car was inspected by the insurance carrier, determined brace not structural and did not replace, treated for cosmetic damage and returned to service. Prior to this the vehicle already had issues with premature tire wear, pulling to the right side and being able to maintain alignment.for at least the last 25,000 miles i have been having the vehicle re-aligned each 3000 miles.at one time we'd be able to align the suspension but within 500 miles it would begin moving back out of spec.currently the mechanics are finding it more difficult to get it within spec. The fact that this seems to be getting worse over time, it leads me to believe that there must be either an underlying design flaw, or there is a component failure occurring somewhere within the front suspension. The hyundai genesis has no mechanism to handle caster or camber adjustment. The mechanics have all stated that the only option to enable the vehicle to be properly aligned is the installation of a 'camber/caster adjustment kit'.however they say this isn't something available from hyundai (though i have read otherwise from online sources), and since the vehicle is still within the extended warranty plan i am hesitant to have such a product installed anywhere but at a dealership as i expect it would lead to additional finger-pointing and warranty debate down the road.

When in motion, the vehicle starts to make a clanking sound repetitivly as if it was on a rotation. It's like a metronome best at 128bpm

Brake pedal wants to go to the floor nearly at times, before the car begins to stop, with less than 48,000 miles on the car. Issue just started doing this, right after my last service appointment, where i was advised that my front brakes needed to be replaced and that my warranty had ended a month earlier. This problem points to a possible $2600 hecu unit problem. Amazing how this started right after i had service performed. Please investigate and have all 2012 hyundai genesis vehicles recalled to have the brake fluid changed, new brake booster, and the hecu module replaced at the same time, before someone gets killed.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundaigenesis. While driving approximately 25 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The contact coasted to the side of the road to a complete stop. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Theapproximate failure mileage was 87,000.

Complete loss of all power supply and total mechanical system/engine no longer operational

I was driving and went over a slippery area at around 40 mph in the city while braking and my brakes went down to the floor. There was no car in front of me so i was able to slowly come to a stop.however, since then my brakes have not been functioning properly, they slowly go down to the floor under any braking condition. And when i stop at a stop light the pedal continues to depress until it's at the floor. In the past i had this issue when i went over a large dip while braking. However it reset itself shortly after and i didn't have the issue again until today. My car was part of the large recall for the genesis in which the brake fluid was replaced.

Hyundai issued a technical service bulletin for the bh genesis sedan hecu inspection and brake fluid replacement (recall 114).the dealer told me this service was performed on my car in 2014.my hecu has failed and braking is very limited.it appears that the resolution to this recall does not resolve the problem.my car is not safe to drive.should the recall be issued again requiring replacement of the hecu?

At approximately 10:30 pm. While driving on hwy at fairly good speed of 73-75 mph, while on cruise control, the engine died and steering became difficult to none at all, all while engine was completely off.car could not be started again.vehicle is currently non-operable and parked.it appears i am the third owner of the is vehicle. Your assistance is appreciated.

Sporadically the brake pedal goes all the way to floor.pedal has to be pumped 2-3 times before brakes engage.this has happened on 3 driving occasions over 10 days.took it to dealer this morning who said unless he could replicate issue, he will not repair despite prior recall for same issue.yesterday on phone, he said he would inspect and file claim with hyundai.apparently brake fluid was replaced in 2013 due to recall by prior owner.now same thing is happening.problem occurs until engine is turned off.3 times in 10 days is frightening.fortunately, i was far enough behind car in front to have time to pump brakes.

Afer 45000 miles, the brake pedal seems low -- it takes longer to stop!

I put in a new battery and some of them the memory doesn't work right.

Intermittent brake failures. Seems there has been a recall for bad brake fluid on this model year hyundai genesis sedan. Hyundai would not cover this vehicle under the recall when contacted.the vehicle has an intermittent soft brake pedal which goes all the way to the floor under hard and soft braking conditions, whether moving fast or slow and in all weather conditions. The brake pads and all 4 rotors are in good repair. There is no air in the brake lines. It appears to be the abs module that is failing and causing unsafe braking conditions without warning. There are numerous online forum complaints about this module which seems to be a fault in design by hyundai. My hope is that nhtsa can inform other owners of this model year that unsafe braking conditions can happen at any time from failure of this abs module.

Following a hard turn which activated my electronic stability control (esc), i lost all pressure in my brake pedal and it sunk to the floor. This is following a near-accident in which i had to engage my abs system by slamming on the brakes to avoid an accident. Ever since that abs activation, my brake pedal has not felt the same. It takes more effort to stop now and you have to push the pedal farther than usual to get brake activation. I can recreate the problem by getting the esc to activate again if i spin the tires on a hard turn. Immediately after doing so, i will no longer have any braking power or pedal pressure. Hyundai refuses to accept responsibility for this because even though my vehicle is within the affected production years, they claim my vin does not qualify for the recall. The recall was campaign 114 which eventually turned into a mandatory recall. The potentially affected years range from 2009-march 28th 2012. My vehicle was made january 10th, 2012. Therefore it should qualify but they claim it will not. I am afraid for my safety and hyundai needs to own up to their mistakes and fix my problem before i die from it. The 3 instances i've had the issue have all occurred while making a hard right turn with low traction and the esc light flashes meaning the abs was indirectly activated. After this turn and esc activation, there will be no pressure in the brakes until it gets pumped several times. Sometimes i will have no brake pressure in the pedal until i've stopped 3 or 4 times and pumped the brakes.

When in motion, the vehicle starts to make a clanking sound repetitivly as if it was on a rotation. It's like a metronome best at 128bpm

When driving on freeway at 65mph the engine missed then stalled. I lost power steering and power brakes. Multiple warning lights on. Dealer is not finding anything using computer diagnostics. Loss of steering and brakes at high speeds is not good!!!!

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed. The failure occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was a corrosion build up concerning the brake fluid, which affected the hydraulic electronic control unit. The mechanic replaced the brake pads and master cylinder, but the brake pedal continued to travel to the floorboard. The dealer (allen hyundai, 624 e pass rd, gulfport, ms 39507, (228) 539-5555) was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa action number: pe13033 (service brakes, hydraulic) and nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic), but the failures were similar. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 74,380.

After driving steadily at 35-40 without braking, applied brakes approaching cars stopped a light. The brake pedal went nearly to the floor and the car only slowed minimally. After several pumps, braking returned and i was able to stop before colliding with the stopped traffic. After that, the car braked normally. This was the 2nd time this happened, the first time being just a few days earlier. The initial episode was less dramatic. There were no warning lights before or after the event.the car is at the dealer for service now. This was incredibly scary; i could have pushed the car in front of me through the intersection into 60mph highway traffic.the brake fluid had been replaced under a tsb at 6,502 miles due tocorrosion issues related to the hydraulic electronic control unit (hecu). It's frightening to think this problem may be responsible for a serious brake failure at just 64,000 miles.

Brake pedal began to require more and more travel to achieve braking effectiveness.there was no evidence of a brake fluid leak.there was no reduction of brake fluid in the reservoir.the ability to modulate braking for conditions such as slow speed (parking lot) driving is significantly impaired.the issue also has required a very heavy pressure on the brake pedal to allow the engine to start (push button ignition switch).i have learned that hyundai has identified an issue with brake fluid that failed to protect the hydraulic electronic control unit (hecu).resulting corrosion within the brake system leads to the failure mode i am experiencing.this issue has happened on a car driven by an 86 year old woman.the situation came on over time, but became very noticeable within the last 6 - 8 months.the car only has 21.4k miles on it.

When applying brakes whether on residential streets, backing out of the garage or on the highway the brake peddle continues to sink to the floor and only provides very little stopping power (something like a coasting stop).since this recently started happening i have discovered that pumping the brakes helps to get better stopping results but it is now scary to drive.i had the brake fluid replaced as a result of hyundai's campaign 114 recall in july of 2014, however i am now experiencing what appears to be consistent brake failure.i have contacted hyundai consumer affairs and they basically stated that because i had the campaign 114 recall done that there is nothing else they can do regarding the possible hecu module failure as a result of deterioration due to the dot-3 brake fluid exposure.i also find it hard to accept that the hecu module was taken off and the valves inspected by the dealer as part of the recall.i sincerely believe that this issue was never resolved on the original 114 recall and now i am responsible for the repair cost as hyundai is refusing to cover this under warranty.my car has 74k miles on it.something needs to be done as anyone driving one of these vehicles is in very serious danger of severe injury or death to themselves or others as this car is not safe to drive as a result of an oversight by hyundai.

My brake pedal became soft and sponge without any warning signal.i had to press brake pedal all the way down to floor in order to stop and it took much long distance to stop.hyundai recalled my car back on 2013 and changed brake fluid.at that time i had no brake problem.i thinkthey must recall for this terrible manufacturing default before anyone get into accident.

While braking at a stop light, the brake pedal went to the floor and i lost anti-lock function and had to press hard on the pedal to stop. The problem persisted for a day or two, then went back to normal. After about a week, the same problem occurred. After researching this issue, i found numerous cars had the same problem, yet it seems hyundai refuses to take responsibility. There is a recall nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000, however when i run my vin #, no recalls are listed. My car is a 2012 hyundai genesis.

I was driving to my work.i saw red light signal and stepped on brake pedal.but the pedal just went down very softly without stoppingmy car.my car stopped afteripressed full force on brake pedal.by the time my car stopped it already passed15 feet fromthe stop linewhere ihad to stop.

Brake pedal goes to the floor with very little stopping power. In an emergency stop situation, the car would not be able to stop to avoid an accident.

The hydraulic electronic control unit (hecu) in my vehicle needs to be replaced per the hyundai dealership service department, at a cost of $2600 ($1900 part/$700 labor). The brake pedal presses all the way to the floor and does not stop the vehicle reliably, nearly resulting in accidents on more than one occasion. The car is no longer safe to drive.i have read countless complaints in hyundai genesis owner forums regarding the failure of these hecu modules in 2009-2012 models, which hyundai has clearly been aware of since 2013, but as far as i can tell, has done nothing to adequately resolve.this is a serious problem that affects the safety of the owner and their families, and it seems outright criminal that hyundai has not been forced to replace these hecu modules on every model produced with these failing parts.nhtsa campaign 13v489000 addressing the internal corrosion of the module due to dot-3 brake fluid does not cover my vin due to the manufacturing month in 2012 (when supposedly a different hecu began being used), but as many other owners have complained, the manufacturing dates that hyundai claim the problem affected are clearly not accurate.hyundai was/is aware of this very dangerous part failure and should be held accountable for the safety of the vehicles they produce.i did nothing but rave about this vehicle before this problem and planned on being a genesis owner for life ... I'm now disgusted.

The vehicle was in motion in a busy commercial area.when the brakes were depressed the pedal went to the floor and slowing of the vehicle was impaired.to stop the vehicle required pumping the brakes to return some pedal pressure.the car was driven home and over the course of several stops (pumping the brakes) the pedal force returned to near normal.i am making an appointment to have the car serviced by a dealer.

Trouble with pushing down hard on the brake pedal and concerned with brake effectiveness. And safety. Forced to push brake all the way to the floor in order to stop.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds in reverse, the vehicle accelerated without warning. The contact crashed into a post but did notsustain any injuries. The police were not contacted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the manufacturer was contacted and sent an investigator to inspect the vehicle. The investigation concluded that they were unable to diagnose the failure and would send the contact a formal letter with the details of the investigation. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were approximately 905. Updated 3/13/13 the consumer stated upon reversing the vehicle suddenly accelerated and hit the back of the house. The consumer tried to move the vehicle jumped, then it acclerated into the flower bed and fence. 04/02/2013

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. While driving approximately 5 mph and approaching an intersection, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact switched to park and restarted the vehicle. The contact also stated that the failure occurred twice on july 10, 2017. The vehicle was taken to orlando hyundai in orlando, florida for diagnostic testing and the throttle body was cleaned. The dealer was not able to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

*dt *dt

I was turning to park in my parking space and all of a sudden the car began to accelerate with such speed that i thought it would jump the curb and crash into my home. I was unable to stop the car and the brakes were unresponsive. It hit the curb and finally came to a stop with a terrible shudder/noise.

While driving 25 mph i tried to accelerate the vehicle to avoid collision. Vehicle hesitated to accelerate for a few seconds when accelerator pedal was pressed. Later i tested a vehicle noticed similar consistent hesitation at various speeds.took vehicle to the dealer.hesitation was recreated and documented, however dealer was unable to find anything wrong with the vehicle and based on that stated that condition is normal, refusing repair.

Have a whitish, grey condensation creeping up about 3" from the lower part of the windshield and also on the driver side door windows, front and back and the rear window. Actually looks like mold. At the dealership, checked out 5 other genesis, they all had the same problem.no other model of hyundai's had this problem.this moldy looking condensation/moisture is inside the window itself, not touchable on either side of window. After driving for a while the moldy appearance subsides and the windows appear like double pane windows with a broken seal.

The wipers would start to wipe then stop in the middle of the windshield, after turning it on and off over and over again (sometimes up to 30 seconds of non-movement), they finally start to move again.this repeated itself for the entirety of my drive to work (aprx 25 minutes) in the rain.i nearly ran into the back of someone because i could not see anything out of my windshield.

Driving home in rain storm and wipers stop working.took me 2 hours to get home after numerous stops.did research and found out recall on that model but my car was 17 days outside of the date.i find it strange that same issue and my vehicle in not in recall.

This problem began occurring at around 60,000 miles.when either stationary or in motion, the windshield wipers would either not come on at all or would jerkily (is that a word?) make their way about halfway up the windshield and then freeze. Then at some random time, they would either jerk their way back to the parked position or continue jerking their way through the whole sweep and then back to the parked position, usually stopping once or more times on the way.this is a common occurrence according to posts found on the genesisowners.com site.(http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=8567 ). If you read the posts, one man almost had a head on collision with a gasoline truck when his wipers decided to quit in the middle of a rainstorm.my local dealer insists hyundai does not consider this a safety issue which to me is mindboggling. With a potentially record breaking el nino now on the way, perhaps it's going to take someone getting killed before hyundai finally says, "gee, we guess it's a safety issue after all."if this defect is news to dot, i can see no reason not to insist on a recall.if, however, dot is aware of the issue and has done nothing about it, shame on them.since hyundai expected me to pay $1,000 to most likely reinstall the same faulty motor and linkage, i got rid of the car. The motor costs $462 by itself.

The windshield wiper had problem for a few years, for which it stopped working once in a while and the movements were not smooth (like a jolt) sometimes. It stopped working eventually a few days ago.

When in motion, the vehicle starts to make a clanking sound repetitivly as if it was on a rotation. It's like a metronome best at 128bpm

My windshield wipers do not clear the windshield properly in inclement weather, my brakes sometimes make scrubbing sounds, my tires seem slippery sometimes when turning a curve, and my car jerks sometimes when pulling off after sitting still.

The contact owns a 2012 hyundai genesis. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for an unrelated problem when the technician detected that the rear passenger's side wheel rim was severely bent. Also, the rear driver's side rim was slightly damaged. The failure was contributed to the light metal materials used to design the rims. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

My tire pressure indicator was on yesterday morning so i put air in my driver side rear tire, however this morning i notice it need more air again, therefore i took the car to sams auto service and after inspection the gentleman told me the tire cannot be repair because it is worn on the inside trim of the tire and its not due to normal wear and tear, states he has never seen a tire in this condition because the rest of the tire has good thread wear and appears good if your looking from the other side of the tire.strongly feels its a manufacturing defect, i called the dealer where i purchased my car a year ago and im gonna take it in tommorrow and pray they will replace it at there expense expecially since i have put only 28,000 miles on the tires....

Bought new in july 2012.car has around 46k on it.i have had to replace 2 of the 4 michelin energy saver a/s tires because of cracking in the sidewalls.both had chunks missing and the cracking/rot was spreading.i drove on them for months like that, luckily without incident.i bought a pair used to replace them so i could get full wear out of the remaining too, but i am wary of buying michelins for my next set.

Tires-michelin energy saver a/s size: p235/50r18 on the front passenger side. The tire has a 5" deep crack on the outside wall of the tire and also several other noticeable cracks throughout the tire especially on the outer wall.

Tire wear uneven, right front passenger worst. Constant severe pull to the right able to change lanes to right without hands on steering wheel. And very minimal pull to left at times while driving on highway (most notable) and city streets.while driving feels like car bottoms out over bumps/holes or on city streets/highways with rough road since purchased in 2012. Cannot adjust alignment on right side, right camber always negative and told no fix for this and cause for excessive wear on tire and pulling to right.paint chipping underneath driver side door on body.bottoming out and tire pulling to right first looked at on 11/21/2012.
