The screen where the navigation is freezes and you cannot see to control to regulate the air or to connect via bluetooth for hands free. If you turn it off and on it still will not clear the screen and you are stuck with a logo. Navigation won't work and you are stuck. It has happened multiple times over 40 times in the last year.

"takata recall"> my 2011 hyundai genesis sedan has been granting many problems with starting. Sometimes it will start up immediately, then sometimes it will start slowly or not start at all and simply revert to a clicking and no start. This seems to also be giving many other drivers problems as i look online. Please update this information as i do not wish to be left stranded. The vehicle is off when this problem occurs.

Power steering stopped working while n motion on highway while turning n curve case #5206878, front door power window switch replaced, brakes went out suddenly while getting off interstate traveling from one sate to another, engine replaced, radiator cracked & split, alternator replaced

When engaging the turn signal, the headlights will flash off and back on quickly.this only happens when the headlights are set to "on" (as opposed to "auto").it does not happen every time the turn signal is engaged, but it happens 15-20% of the time.it is distracting to the driver of the vehicle as well as other drivers around the vehicle.i've researched this and found it is not an isolated case: http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?s=15515fe08925adeb2371411165fe2c76&t=12026&page=2.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. On several occasions, while driving on the highway, the vehicle stalled without warning and lost power. The vehicle was towed to florence hyundai (1721 w lucas st, florence, sc 29501 (843) 667-3317) where no diagnostic failure codes were found and the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 147,000.

Complaint: total loss of vehicle due to electrical wiring harness failure.after recall 13v113000, 04/01/13, exterior lighting:brake lights: switch was fixed by dealership, we had repeated problems with interior lights failing, then with license plate light blowing out, and as time went on other electrical things not working- but only intermittently - would not repeat the problem when we had it looked at.finally, at a city street stoplight, my husband driving and i am in passenger seat, i noticed wisp of smoke. Car then filled with smoke that smelled like burning electrical. Opened windows, seemed to clear, only a mile to destination, and nothing seemed wrong otherwise. When we stopped, checked all over vehicle and could not see problem. Car sat an hour. When time to leave, car would not go in gear, and dashboard warnings appeared. While car turned off, reverse lights came on and we could not make go off. Car towed to shop. Took two weeks for shop to figure out problem was in wiring harness along passenger front and rear. Many wires had insulation melted and/or charred, leaving them exposed and touching. Geico deemed the vehicle a total loss - even if the wiring harness was replaced, would still not know cause. Photos attached.i wanted to report this so if it is because of a common issue, maybe it would have the chance of being fixed so others might not lose their car to this problem.

After second time another window lift (failed without any use) fell down, went to dealer for repair. [the darkened window films were left scratched with open spaces at each repair.] auto released to customer for a few days until parts would arrive, after recall service. Was told stop lamp switch replacement would fix all previous esc and transmission lockup complaints. Not! after leaving dealership when slowing to 20 mph with electronic doors locked and windows closed, tapped brake, caused automobile to lurch violently to a sudden stop in rush hour traffic. Smoke filled the interior and neither doors nor windows would open, and dash lights flashed intermittently on a random basis, with out logic, and died. Auto was immobilized and could not be shoved nor driver extracted by fire department response (2). Eventually was able to cause passenger power window (only) to lower halfway during final flash from lights. With help was able to escape. Trunk was opened with manual key (key fob inoperative) and swelled battery was melting down, with ventilation, did not explode. The oem battery location failed by sedimentation shorts froma "goosey" suspension. Dealer retrieved vehicle, after window lift replaced, demanded customer removal by putting bad battery from another vehicle in for jump start. Drove to nearest after market store for adsorbed glass mat (agm) battery to preclude future fires. Driver's door actuator total failure replaced (37631). Brake light switch replaced again (46704). Brake switch diode recall refused by dealerships that continue to also refuse to adjust emergency free play, at any cost. Porous oem tires replaced for safety. This car is considered unsafe to drive unless one window remains lowered for an escape path.

The vehicle has issues with the bluetooth sound system where it randomly disconnects regardless if the car is in motion or stationary. The car uses a lexicon sound system. However, the car experiences another issue with the display regarding selecting a bluetooth device and the screen appears blank. From where the issue derives is unknown to pin point. One possibility is that the system reads a cd randomly without a disk being inside and it resets the system.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While the vehicle was stopped in the drive position with the engine turned off, the vehicle suddenly rolled forward. The contact jumped back in and applied the brakes to stop the vehicle. The vehicle did not have a key as it had a keyless ignition. The contact believed the failure occurred because the vehicle could be shut off although it was not in park. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was 6,000 and the current mileage was 10,000.updated 03/24/11*ljhyundai informed the consumer, they were aware of the problem, but did not offer a fix. Updated 09/19/11

In 2016, i filed complaint # 1084551 regarding the engine shutting down when my car had only 23000 miles. Unfortunately neither this agency or hyundai usa gave me the an explanation as to why this happened, and happy hyundai kept my car for 43 days to replace various engine parts. Now in 2019, the connector to the coolant fan melted which is related to the ecm module.there was an ecm recall at the time in march 2016 but it appears that the specifications of the recall didnt address/fix the problem.further, it appears that the problem i encountered in 2016, thee ecm recall and the problem i have encountered on july 25, 2019 are very related.i can only hope and implore thos agency to look further into these issues.the car was in motion when the engine light came on. Took to the dealer and the diaganostic i was given said thee thermostate needed to be replaced along with the temperaturesensor and a coolant flush. Also told the a/c compressor and hose needed to be replaced.on august 14th the thermostate, sensor and coolant flush was completed by happy hyundai but the engine came back on the same day after i drove on the expressway. I took my car into another o. August 20, 2019 and was told my car wass missed diagnosed and that the coolant fan controller had shorted and the connector to that component had melted.this is all related to the ecm module.

While driving vehicle, the lights some times flash and/or the vehicle stops running even at highway speeds.

Recall on car back in 2014 for brake failure. Improper fluid used causing abs assist module to fail resulting in soft break pedal.purchased vehicle in 2014 used and never told of this issue after purchasing vehicle nor never sent any info. Electrical problems , drive seat wont respond , wind shield wipers randomly turning on . Tail lights not working also on recall. This notification also never sent to use resulting in the vehicle being rear ended last year . Passenger seat head rest deployed and not drivers. Car was fixed and a couple of weeks ago the passenger head reset deployed again hitting my daughter and at the same exploded and came of its frame landing in the back seat. Hyundia dealer wont do anything other than whats on recall now.

My tail lights and brake lights stopped working. Replaced tail light switch.didn't solve the problem.

Noticed that the head lights shut off for a couple of seconds when making a turn onto a ramp on an interstate.seemed to happen when the turn signal was operated and has repeated a dozen or so times since the first occurrence, but can go weeks to months between incidents.i think that the head light selections switch was set to "on" at the time as i have not noticed this to occur when set to "auto."

Brake lights failed.due to failure of diode.previous safety recall on stop lamp switch.noted during oil change by service technician.

The car was parked (not running or moving) in an open air grocery store parking lot.i was in the grocery store for approximately 20 minutes and came out to find a crowd and a fire crew who had just put out the fire in the hood area of my car.i have photos of the car but they are on my phone and i don't know how to send them to computer.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled, but restarted independently after the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

On december 22nd, 2015, i was driving the car into my parking lot at my office when the car began to accelarate on its own.this isthe second time in the last 6 months that the engine has accelarated without depressing the accelerator and then continued to rev higher when the car is put into park. If it was not for some quick thinking, i almost went into a wall of the garage. I immediately called the hyundai dealer and spoke to the service manager.he could hear the reving of the car.he asked if i felt safe driving it to the dealer which i did.all thoughout the ride, the car continued to accelarate on its own.when i arrived at the dealer and turned the car off, the car stopped doing this. The dealer kept the car for 5 weeks and could not duplicate or find any problems. I have asked to speak to someone at hyundai to see what the next steps are if it happens again

Every time i start my car in the morning i get this loud clinking noise like something is rattling inside the engine and sounds like the timing chain . I have tried everything possible to fix this i have taken it to hyundai before and they changed out the tension or pulley and other things i have taken it to get her brand new compressor after i just got a brand new compressor i have tried putting force and 30 motor oil on regular intervals but nothing seems to quiet that loud noise don't understand what's going on and hyundai had no idea what the noise was.

While driving vehicle, the lights some times flash and/or the vehicle stops running even at highway speeds.

When accelerating while turning a corner the engine loses power completely.in a heavy traffic situation this has caused near accidents and oncoming drivers to slam on the brakes. Vehicle begins at a dead stop. 1/2 way thru the turn there is always a complete loss of power and car stalls for several seconds until power returns. This happens every time while accelerating around a corner. Scary

Engine sometimes cuts off when i stop at a stop light.dashboard lights stay on.engine starts when i put car in neutral and push start button with foot on the brake.it has happened 6 times.new spark plugs and air cleaner and fuel injection cleaner have not solved the problem.i suspect that the crank shaft sensor is defective.

Was driving on the highwaywhen the vehicle began to accelarate on its own. As i approached traffic, i swerved off the road and stopped the car and re-started.when i got back onto the highway, it happened again.luckly, i was not too far from my home and quickly went home.the next morning i drove to the dealer and there was no issues until i pulled into the service bay and the engine started to rev-up without hitting the acceloratorthe dealer kept my vehicle for 10 days but could not find any cause.

Got jackrabbit yesterday evening(aprl. 13 sunday 2014, 6:30pm ). When i tried exit to roadway from parking lot, motor rev up by itself and break system could not stopped vehicle completely. I could hear the squeaking noise from breaks even i push the break pedal deep, i still was in the parkinig lot and could steer onto empty parking space and shifted lever to "neutral" and right after that, motor rpm jumped over 6000 with loud motor noise. I shot off the motor anda little later, reignite over andover, same thing happened. About 20 minutes later, symptom disappeared by itself. I think i was lucky because i was not on the highway. Ivideo recorded this with my smart phone. * js

The engine doesn't turn over, and according to the mechanics at the dealer, it appears that the "engine is locked up".prior to the car just stopping while i was driving, none of the engine indicator lights came on.this car has 23,000 miles.the mechanics have contacted the warranty department who have requested pictures of the oil pan. I received an oil change exactly one month before this incident and no one at jiffy lube noted any problems.

I drove from palm springs, ca to santa monica, ca.my air conditioning was working fine.two days later after driving around santa monica my air conditioner didn't work any longer.i drove back to palm springs and went to the dealer immediately.they diagnosed my car by friday, october 2,2012 and told me their was a hole in my condenser and it was not their fault.it was not covered by the warranty.needless to say, i feel that either the grill or design is a defect and should not be charged.i take excellent care of my car and there has been no accidents.

2011 genesis, has backup camera , but no audio assist, you must be 2-5 ft before you see the object in the screen. Have written to hyundai. Was told when we brought the car that it came with a backup camera, they are selling the car without the help of an audio devise. I have all the paperwork from hyundai, where they told me that they cannot due anything to give me a audio assist. I can forward these papers to you if needed. Please contact me, there is not enough space to really write about this problem.

I was pulled over by a policeman who noticed that all of my rear brake lights were not working.there was no warning light on my dash to notify me of this problem.i took my car to the service department of a hyundai dealership and they said a diode had failed.i was pulled over by a policeman about 2 years ago for the same issue (there was no indication on my dash of the non-working brake lights at that time either).so, this problem has happened twice in the four years that i've driven this car.this is a safety problem because when no rear brake lights illuminate then i'm at risk for a rear-end collision.there should be an indicator light on the dash that informs the driver of non-working rear brake lights.especially when no rear break lights illuminate (as was my situation).

When using the turn indicator, the headlights will flash off. Sometimes it is just for a moment and other times for a second or two. This leaves me in complete darkness and opposing drivers getting upset that my lights are flashing on and off. This occurs whether i am in motion, stopped to make a turn, or at any time when the turn signal is used and the headlights are on. This also happens when just "tapping" the 3-blink lane change option for the turn signals.

When using turn signal at night the headlights turn off for a few seconds. Its done it since almost new intermittently.

Headlights will go out when engaging the turn signal when on the on position only ( not the auto position)light will remain off for between 1 and 10 seconds.this can happen when moving or stopped.there is a dead spot in the switch and just touching it can cause the headlights to go out.

My tail lights and brake lights stopped working. Replaced tail light switch.didn't solve the problem.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. The contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v713000 (exterior lighting) and stated that the part needed was unavailable to repair the vehicle. The dealer was unable to inform when the part would become available. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

My 2011 genesis sedan with 30,000 miles had brake lights fail 2 times. I would press the brakes and none of the brake lights would come on. On both occasions, the issue was due to a failed diode per the dealership. I noticed that there is a brake light recall from hyundai-kia that i saw in the news today. However, the article seemed to suggest that it only covers the genesis coupe. However, i can tell you that i had similar issues with the genesis sedan as well with the diode failure mentioned above.on the first incident around 10/2012, another driver on the road alerted me regarding the issue. The second time, around 1/2013, i noticed it on the driveway.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the brake lights failed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa recall campaign number: 13v113000 (exterior lighting). The failure mileage was 52,000.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While depressing the brake pedal, the brake lights failed to illuminate. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 33,000.

Car loss all forward power, speed dropped to 20 mph accelerator had no effect. After pulling to side of road engine would not go above 2000 rpm in neutral. Engine light came on, limped to dealer. Dealer diagnosed as troublecode c15,throttle body assy.dealer replaced throttle body, drove car for 50 miles in 4 days. Now have the same problem, engine light on and no power. This is a very dangerousproblem. Will have car towed back to dealer. Loosing power with no warning while driving on the interstates or pulling out into traffic isdangerous and safety problem!!!!!!!

This vehicle was purchase new on 2/4/11.it is rated at 20 mpg city 30 mpg highway.the mileage has consistently been poor.it now has 4200 miles on it and highway mileage with the cruise control on, in warm weather, with no load other than the driver is around 24 mpg.i had it checked by hyundai and they replaced the 02 sensor.this improved the highway mileage slightly from 23 to 24 mpg.it has never approached 25 mpg let alone 30 mpg.i have read about others complaining about the poor mileage on 4 cylinder genesis coupes.if the mileage ratings had been more accurate i would not have even considered buying this car.please recalculate the mileage ratings to accurately reflect what people will get.

While driving vehicle, the lights some times flash and/or the vehicle stops running even at highway speeds.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While the vehicle was stationary on an incline, the electronic parking brake (epb) indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the epb failed to respond when prompted. An independent mechanic referred the contact to lee everett hyundai of everett (7800 evergreen way, everett, washington 98203). The dealer diagnosed that the epb was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Car is at 57k miles and requires a new transmission! the transmission control module adjusts for issues related to a transmission to ensure a smooth shift and ride essentially hiding the underlying problem. Took my car in for a steering issue which required resetting the adaptive control. With this, the car's previously hidden transmission issue was amplified resulting in severe jerking and shifting gears.

After second time another window lift (failed without any use) fell down, went to dealer for repair. [the darkened window films were left scratched with open spaces at each repair.] auto released to customer for a few days until parts would arrive, after recall service. Brake switch diode recall refused by dealerships that continue to also refuse to adjust emergency free play, at any cost. Porous oem tires replaced for safety. This car is considered unsafe to drive unless one window remains lowered for an escape path.

While driving on the highway at 65mph the driver front tire wables, the tires feel unsafe and not stable. When going over longroad cracks on the highway the whole car wabbles and if i dont grab the stearing wheel really hard to not loose control of the vehicle. The esc light its always on so i know the traction or stability control is not working properly, also the tpm light is also not working because its always been on since purchased the car.

Manual transmission sometimes fails causing unsafe situations for drivers and passengers. Failures include transmission not engaging requested gear, failing to disengage gear, grinding while engaging gear. Hyundai has so far been willing to replace transmission and related parts however no "fix" currently exists.hyundai employees have been blaming drivers for causing problems even though on multiple occasions driver proven to not be cause. It is a design defect. What happens when my vehicle runs out of warranty? how about the depreciation, with a know lemon transmission?

The headrest disengaged into 2 parts and hurt my girlfirend's neck.

Seat heater elements burning drivers back and bottom while driving the car with no switches turned on. Dealer diagnoses that the problem is heater switch and replaces after three visits to dealership on florin in sacramento ca. Dealer claims that they tested the seat and it was fine , but owner uses car for work , and the burning continues.

I was driving at 35 mph in the lane, the car on the left lane hit the rear body and tire of driver side, but the car didn't stop even after the impact. After the collision, i pressed very hard on the brake pedal to stop, but it kept moving, even increased its speed up to 60 mph, and turned into the different direction.also the wheel was stuck by itself and i was not able to turn anywhere with my hands. It went off the opposite side of the road without any control. 20 years old toyota camry was able to stop at the spot of collision, but hyundai genesis couldn't.the wheel and the brake were both stuck and unable to be controlled and crashed into the electric pole.the air bag was deployed, and hyundai genesis was totaled. In 2014, the brake recall service was received two times from the dealer.there must be the mechanical failure in the brake, speed control, and the wheel which caused this total loss. I was injured and taken by the ambulance later. I never had any accidents like this before with any other cars!

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While driving 35 mph merging into traffic, there was no response when the brake pedal was depressed. The brakes failed and the vehicle jumped a curb. There were no injuries. The front bumper and front and rear wheels were damaged. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear braking system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 68,000.

The second time, around 1/2013, i noticed it on the driveway.

I purchased my used pre-certified hyundai genesis 20 11 car in february 2014 and shortly thereafter i found that my brakes which originally were firm would go down to the floor or nearly to the floor within 6 months i did some research on the car and found that in 2013 hyundai corporation issued a recall on the abs system do 2 corrosive brake fluid that was could potentially corrode the abs system and 2013 the brake fluid was replaced on my car prior to my purchase. However hyundai did not inspect whether abs systems had already been damaged by this corrosive brake fluid and merely replaced it my car has an abs system that has been tested and it fails.the brake pedal on my car nearly touches the floor and it is difficult to stop the car safely.i was driving in the rain recently and just missed hitting a car that stopped suddenly.

When the brake assist system is active and the car was stopped it would not move an inch.now the vehicle inches forward and makes a vibration sound until eventually the disc brakes lock up and the car stops rolling.i took my car to hyundai of orange park and showed the service writer the issue.when the car was returned, they said there was no problem.since this has never occurred until recently, and i have owned the car for 3 years, there is definitely an issue.

Tuesday february 2, 2016 i was driving on olympic blvd approximately 35 pmh. As i attempted to turn right on the round about to the avenue of the stars i was unable to brake. I floored the brake pedal and the brakes were unresponsive.i attempted to brake again but by that time it was too late. My car hit and drove onto the curb where it remained unable to move until aaa arrived. I broke both left wheels and the axel along with other serious damage to the front of my vehicle.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that there was a increased in stopping distance when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the contact referenced nhtsa campaign 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

The z01 diode failed causing the brake lights not to illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed.there is no warning to the driver that this failure has occurred.this is a known issue by hyundai.they released a tsb, technical service bulletin 09-be-023, concerning the issue but the solution is to replace the same diode when it has failed.no improvements have been made to make the part more reliable.it is a serious safety issue as the driver has no indication that the brake lights do not work putting them, passengers, and other drivers at risk of a serious rear end collision.

Twice in last month i was driving in traffic and had a total loss of brakes almost hitting the car directly in front of me. I pushed the brake pedal in both cases to the floor and my car was not stopping. I was able to get the car to finally slow down after pushing the petal against the floor as hard as i could. Needless to say this was a very frightening experience both times. I took the vehicle in to the dealership after receiving a recall notice in the mail. I was told that they replaced the brake fluid per the 114 recall and that they were able to reproduce the stopping issue. The dealership stated that the abs module was not operating properly and that it was going to be a $2200 fix that i was responsible for paying for and that the recall did not cover the required parts and labor and that the warranty and extended warranty that i have would not cover the repairs. It seems they only replaced the fluid that was causing the issue with the module, but would not take responsibility for replacing the critical parts that the brake fluid compromised. I can not afford to fix this car and am being treated like it is my responsibility to fix the issue they caused. I am still driving an unsafe car because i have no choice. What is my recourse?

Steering is extremely tight and difficult to turn.brake failure, had it checked out by the dealer who "fixed" it, however, the problem came back on after 3 weeks.

I was sitting in my car with the emergency break engaged when my car started to roll back down my driveway. No matter how hard i tried i could not push the break in and the emergency break was on the entire time. My door is now crunched up from rolling back into a tree. It went all the way down my driveway, across the street and into my neighbors yard before my husband was able to get it to stop by pushing the break pedal as hard as he could. I bruised my shoulder trying to get out of the car while it was rolling away.

On 8/16/11, while driving down a couple of hills on my brakes, approaching a car & stop sign at an intersection a little over 2 blocks away, i pressed down harder on the brake pedal to come to a complete stop.the car, a new, 2011 hyundai genesis, would not stop.i continued to press harder and harder on the brake, but the car would not stop.it just continued at to move at the speed i was driving down the hill, approximately 15-20 mph.as a result, the car rolled directly into the car sitting at the stop sign.

The brake pedal would become soft while driving and would travel to the floor with little to no stopping power.several times both on city streets and freeways the vehicle became difficult to slow or stop and almost resulted in several collisions. The vehicle had been recalled and previously serviced with new brake fluid per nhtsa campaign 13v489000.at 59,000 miles i had alerted the hyundai service department about the brake failure.they were unable to reproduce the problem.the problem persisted and now they were able to reproduce the issue.the intermittent failure of the brake system is life threatening and needs to be addressed.their is quite obviously degradation of the brake system components due to the original brake fluid not having corrosion inhibitors.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. The contact stated while making a left turn at 10 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the went all the way to the floorboard before coming to a complete stop. The contact drove the vehicle to west broad hyundai located at 8903 w broad st richmond va 23294. The dealer stated the electric hydraulic and master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and could not offer any further assistance. The failure mileage was 215,000.

After a brake job, i took the car back to say that the pedal was going to the floor.i was told i had a leak in the master cylinder.got that repaired.after having the master cylinder repaired, i am now being told i have to replace the hydraulic electronic control unit (abs, hecu).did some research, and saw that this was a recall issue for 48,000 genesis between the years of 2008 and 2012.issue seems to be caused by brake fluid corrosion.my car was not part of the recall. I reported the initial issue at 64,000 miles.car is now at 80,000.it has been sitting at the dealership because it had an engine replaced covered under warranty.

Ibrake failure! hydraulic module assy failurewas driving the vehicle and during the drive, my brake all of a sudden became soft and required me to push all the way to the floor to stop the car.i believe it's referred to as spongy brakes. I took the car to an independent mechanic shop and they diagnosed a faulty hydraulic module assembly.i also called the dealer and they mentioned there was a recall on the brake fluid due to its potential to cause corrosion in the brake system. The dealer is now quoting me ~$3,400 to repair and replace the hydraulic module assy.wow!! i called hyundai usa and they said since the car was out of warranty they would not cover the repair,i informed them of the recall on fluid and they said it does not cover the parts that were damaged by the bad fluid.this is unfair and excessive behavior on the part hyundai.clearly they recognized the fluid was damaging brake components but are unwilling to cover related repairs.the brakes on this car are an accident waiting to happening since the brakes are failing.i would not buy another hyundai vehicle knowing they won't cover critical safety components.others have voiced the same issue with no support from hyundai.

My car at 58000 miles whenever i brake on slippery surface where abs is activated my brake pedal goes nearly down to floor. And continuous for days going down nearly to floor on normal braking before brake pedal comes back up to normal level again.this has happened now every time abs is activated.dealer wants nearly $3000. To replace the abs.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While driving 50 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard and the vehicle took a long time to slow down. The vehicle was taken to lake norman hyundai (20520 chartwell center dr, cornelius, nc 28031)where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic electronic control unit was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The approximate failure mileage was 74,000. Updated 08/08/17*lj

Brakes are very mushy. Often going to floor without stopping. Have to pump brakes to stop. Dealer says the hec unit needs to be replaced (part is $3500). This 2011 hyundai genesis was built in during time frame of earlier recall because hyundai was using corrosive brake fluid. Earlier models were recalled but mine was not? why? now that 6 years have passed, the corrosive brake fluid is now causing later models to fail. All models built during the time frame in which corrosive brake fluid was used should be recalled and mfg should be responsible for replacement of the hec unit ... Not just the brake fluid. All questionable vehicles should have been recalled in the first recall.

While the automobile is inmotion the brake pedal is mushy to the point that it almost reaches dead bottom before engaging the brakes.this happens both on the highway and on the street no matter the speed.repair shop states that its the abs hydraulic module is defective.hyundai dealer states that it is for the fluid recall.it is not fixing the brakes.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the brakes failed even when the pedal was depressed to the floor. The dealer stated that the hydraulic electronic control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 46,000.updated 05/30/17*lj

My brake pedal is going all the way down to the floor it used to do it every once in a while but now it is a constant thing. The car does stop but it feels really mushy, i took the car to the dealership and was told that it was a master brake cylinder, however after reading online a lot off people have the same issue and replacing the master cylinder isn't the problem

My 2011 hyundai genesis is experiencing braking failure.i have almost had accidents due to my car's inability to come to a stop in a reasonable time, especially when following vehicles that come to a sudden stop.the pedal depresses almost to the floor and is very spongy.the problem is intermittent but consistent.i researched the issue and found that there was a recall related to this issue, but for some reason, hyundai excluded my vin despite it falling within the manufacture period of hyundai cars experiencing the issue.i took the car to the hyundai dealership and they diagnosed a failed abs system, specifically stating that the internal seals of the hecu (esc unit) were worn causing poor sealing.this may be related to the corrosive brake fluid that they replaced for their campaign tl6.under hyundai's recall campaign 114, the hecu system should have been inspected and repaired or replaced in addition to changing the fluid.hyundai merely replaced the fluid.this has caused a dangerous situation with my braking system that could have been avoided.

Abs module failed. Brake pedal goes down to floor to stop the vehicle.

The power-steering is leaking fluid and this is the 2nd time this issue has occurred in less than 3 years.the 1st time it happened was in october 2016 when the car had 25,822 miles, and happy hyundai replaced the rack set and the power steering line. The problem re-occurred in september 14, 2019 when the car had 51,784 miles, and napleton-river oaks hyundai said the car is leaking power-steering fluid, and when i drove the car before taking it in for repairs, i noticed difficulty in turning the steering wheel. I have not been able to receive a service diagnostic from napleton hyundai because the car is still in the shop and they discovered the issue after i left.i also contacted hyundai's national consumer affairs office about the problem but it doesn't appear they will forward to their technical office.

Hyundai genesis sedan 4.6; when the car is cold such as in december in northeast, the steering wheel is very difficult to turn.when the car is cold, i have to jerk the steering wheel to get the car to turn, particularly turning to the right.after the car heats-up, the steering words o.k.to avoid having a crash when i am turning right or left, i have to allow the car to heat up for 10 minutes before driving it.new power steering fluid has not improved the steering performance.

I've purchased 2011 genesis dec 2010 that i brought back to the dealer the day after i purchased it for pulling to the left. They have realigned it several times i have been back 5 times in this the first month of ownership. Each time the dealer agreed that it pulled to the left. However the reason for the pulling varied. Some which were that they have tried telling me it was the crown of the road, the air pressure in one tire was 1 lb. Low and my personal favorite is the only way cars become misaligned is that the driver is hitting potholes, all of which have caused my car to pull to the left never the right. Each time they have had to do an alignment. I currently pursuing legal readdress.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While driving 55 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the steering failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

This particular model has a tech package with a feature that automatically sets the height, and length of the steering wheel column to the drive's preferences. This feature does not work properly. The steering column only goes up so far to the point where it blocks my vision to the speedometer reading on the instrument panel. This is very dangerous as i cannot without great effort determine how fast the vehicle is going. I spoke with my local hyundai dealer to no avail. They were not aware of any reported problems yet when i go on line to a hyundai genesis chat forum numerous drivers have complained of the same problem.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While driving 70 mph, the steering wheel shook and white smoke and a burning odor were noticed from under the hood. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case number: x0679rc4lk. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to regional hyundai (2380 w kenosha st broken arrow, ok 74012 918-806-2000) where it was determined that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). Also, the repair expense would be the contact's responsibility. The failure mileage was 89,000.

Steering is extremely tight and difficult to turn.brake failure, had it checked out by the dealer who "fixed" it, however, the problem came back on after 3 weeks.

Power steering stopped working while n motion on highway while turning n curve case #5206878, front door power window switch replaced, brakes went out suddenly while getting off interstate traveling from one sate to another, engine replaced, radiator cracked & split, alternator replaced

He said he would have to take the rear end off the car to find out where the problem is. I called hyundai and they asked me to go to another dealership and have them look at it which i did and they said nothing was wrong with the car and charged me $134.70 when hyundai themselves asked me to take it to them . There is definitely something wrong and hyundai keeps trying to blame the tires. This is a severe safety hazard .after the first set wore down i thought it was the tires. Put on michelin pilot a/3 a very good tire was coming home on the highway it started raining and i went sideways. Luckily i caught it in time and straightened the car out. I had no idea why this happened until i got home driving extremely slow in the right lane to find i had no treadafter 11,000 miles on the michelin's. The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. When applying the brakes, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard without stopping the vehicle. The contact had to pump the brake pedal in order for the vehicle to stop. When the vehicle was stopped with the brake pedal depressed, the pedal would lower unintentionally; however, the vehicle would begin to slowly move forward at the same time. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the electronic control system and abs failed and needed to be replaced. The contact notified the anderson hyundai dealer and was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and reiterated the dealer's diagnosis. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.

Abs module with adaptive cruise and electric park brakes

Brake padel is very soft or low after hitting brakes and will not re-adjust. See campaign 114 for more details.

Nhtsa campaign number: 13v-489 hyundai notice 13-01-006 campaign 114. I have had my brake pedal go almost all the way to the floor 3 times now in the last 2 months. This is extremely dangerous and luckily i have been able to stop in time not to cause an accident. Review of the hyundai forum indicates that my abs module or hydraulic electronic control unit (hecu) is failing. Brake pedal feel will then go back to normal after i restart the car several times. I have an appointment with dennis hyundai in columbus, oh today and i hope they are willing to replace the abs module for free as required.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While driving various speeds, the brakes malfunctioned without warning. The contact stated that the brake pedal nearly struck the floorboard on four occasions between august 11, 2017 and september 2, 2017. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact stated that a significant amount of brake pressure was applied to stop the vehicle on each occasion. The vehicle was taken to be reinspected per nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic) at araphoe hyundai of denver, colorado. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and provided the contact with case number: 105-11-067. The failure mileage was 162,000.

My brakes have reduced pressure and spongy. I see others have same issue and possible recall. Hyundai says mine is not included although recall was for cars 2009-2012 (mine is 2011). I almost crashed because of reduced pressure and car would not stop.

Since purchasing the car, used, in 2014, we have had numerous, random instances where the brake pedal went all the way to the floor.it's happened in all types of weather and temperatures. We presently have around 76k miles. I've had the car in for checkups to our mechanic twice, with no findings.the problem happened again this morning, while my wife, who is 9mo pregnant was driving to work.until today i did not research the issue online.i found today that our car was among the batch that did eventually get the fluid swap done(recall). Ours was done when we bought it.they did not inform us that the problem was actually the hecu unit.today,i called our local hyundai dealer, who told me they would be glad to replace it, but that we would be paying for it all. I have loved the car, but i'm fairly disgusted that hyundai has so many documented cases of this part failing, yet will not replace it.the brake pedal, at any speed, randomly loses pressure, and goes all the way to the floor.once there, they feel like the brake pads fell out.the vehicle stops, but very abruptly.its terrifying. The last time it happened was roughly may 2018.does not seem to matter if we are pulling out of the garage, riding through the neighborhood,or driving on the highway.happens in all variety of situations. Tonight, we left the car at my in-laws because my wife is afraid to drive her own car.

The brake pedal on the subject car, hyundai genesis 2011, became too soft (mushy) when pressed down.no braking action until the pedal is within 1" from the floor.after checking with the dealer, and two other reputable auto repair shops, we had the brake master cylinder replaced at $380 at one shop but that did not fix the problem.i searched the internet and found that the dealer, in 2013, had complaints about similar brake problem on genesis cars, made between 2008 and 2012, and the dealer found and replaced the "corrosive" brake fluid at no charge on over 27,000 cars - i am sure it is a matter of timewhen our car, the 2011 genesis, will show the same problem, and should be dealt with the say way. Please see link below:http://articles.latimes.com/2013/oct/21/autos/la-fi-hy-hyundai-genesis-recall-2013102question: is it safe to drive the car under these conditions, and what could be the cause of the softness in the brake pedal if different?any feedback on this important safety matter will be greatly appreciated.the car is in our garage.regards[xxx].('parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).')

Freeway driving at speed limit (65mph) passenger seat head rest self energized causing passenger to become unconcious for one or two minutes, without warning. Auto had no accicents nor any other damage to headrest or seat. Passenger comment after he became concious was "why did you hit me." preceeded by a noise like a metal pipe being dropped. There was no reason for the 'rear end collision sensor located at seat base to energize. The headrest came forward striking back of head causing a possible concusion.a different result would have caused death if it was the driver side.failure was caused be spring tension continious on plastic and both the front and rear pieces, but only the front part is available for repair. This forces replacement of the entire headrest assembly. (quoted $792). Repair not available in a timely manner.

Sporadic low brake pedal resulting in decreased braking performance. This problem will last for a day or two and then go away. Present at all speeds - even when stopped.

Car has shut off twice while driving at a slow speed. Jerks then shuts off while in drive and foot on brake. I had to put the car in park and restart it with no issues. No lights or any thing came on. I was at a stop sign.

Just recently my brakes have become extremely soft and the vehicle is slow to respond to braking.i have had the brakes pads replaced and still and extremely soft pedal with little to no braking reaction until i am almost to the floorboard.like others have said there was a recall but my vehicle was not included.this happens every time and is not sporadic as some have stated.

My h.e.c.u. Is failing just like the recall 13v48900 states.. My brakes have on three occasions failed which almost resulted in a serious accident.i brought this to hyundai attention. But they tell me there's nothing they can do about it. It's on me. Now my car is up for inspection and it won't pass because of this issue..it will cost me $500.00 for the mechanic to replace the master cylinder just to pass inspection...if there's a defect in the fluid which causes corrosion, and now the master cylinder and h.e.c.u. Are not holding pressure..the recall states this is a common problem,,why do i have to be made pay for something that is a well documented defect.. If i or a member of my family get into an accident hyundai has been made aware of issue.

I took this car to the north charleston hyundai about 3 weeks ago around 6/16/17, told them about my braking issue and they told me after they inspected it that it would cost me 4-5 thousand dollars to fix my vehicle. The dealer said it was the recalled part that went bad. Now they are saying its not and hyundai usa isn't standing by their product either said i was out of warranty by 5000 miles and they can't fix it. Its all on me now. Hyundai usa first told me they would meet me half way for the repairs but they didn't all they did is give me 1000 hyundai points and that is maybe a 1/5 of the repair. I had a second opinion done at midas in mount pleasant sc done and they are saying its the recalled part that is bad, and that i need to get in touch with y'all. The whole braking system went bad while i was driving it, i was going around a turn at a high rate of speed and noticed that when i pressed the brakes they weren't responding so i threw it into manual drive, where i geared it down to 2nd gear and slowed down that way, enough i wouldn't run off the road and maybe hurt myself, my rider or someone on the interstate.

My 2011 genesis sedan (4.6l v8) has an increasingly soft, spongy brake pedal past year or so.this occurs while driving in/out of my neighborhood, on busy nj highways, and when parked with engine running.had rotors, pads, master cylinder and brake fluid replaced recently (~2 months ago; $1200; receipts available).did not solve the problem.i feel unsafe driving the car and putting me/other drivers at risk.from researching the problem, including recently learning about the recall of 2009-2012 models for brake problems, i am guessing that either the brake booster and/or abs brake module are failing.i bought the car new and am its only owner.car has only 73,000 careful miles on it.i'm reluctant to spend any more money.what can i do?

Braking effectiveness is significantly reduced unexpectedly / randomly. Dealer could not reproduce the problem so no fix was done. There was a hyundai recall, #114, which required the changing of the break fluid due to corrosion of the hecu. This was performed in 2014 but apparently this has not solved the problem. The vehicle is now unsafe to drive.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundia genesis. When the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not stop immediately. The brake pedal had to be depressed to the floorboard to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 75,000.

I have a 2011 hyundai genesis sedan 3.8l and i have had and am having problems with stopping my car. I have to push the brake pedal harder and closer to the floor and the brakes do not engage like they used to or are suppose to. I took it to the hyundai dealership where i bought it and have it serviced with this complaint and they ended up selling me and installing new rotors and brake pads, twice, and this did nothing for the problems with my brakes. When they couldn't diagnose the brake problem, they tried to tell me that the problem was with my transmission, and since they couldn't work on transmissions they'd have to order me a new one, with me footing the bill. I took it to two different transmissions specialist and both assured me, after extensive testing, that it was not my transmission, but that the problem was with my brakes. Hyundai refused to look at my car again, and the service manager told me that he "was through with my car, and wash his hands of it". I took my car to another mechanic who diagnosed my problem, and told me that hyundai had a recall on my car for the exact problem that i was having and complaining about, and that the hyundai dealership couldn't diagnose correctly, and washed their hands of my car and sent me back on the road after two separate installations of new brake rotors and pads. I never received notice of the recall from my dealership and i am still experiencing the problem with my brakes requiring me to have exert more brake pedal travel, with less effectiveness. Now, i even have to pump my brakes, and whenever i have to do a hard or panic stop, there is a metal on metal type of grinding noise from my brakes. How long is the recall good for, and what do i have to do in order to get my car fixed under this recall? my life is in danger whenever i drive this car. The recall was on the abs system for the 2009-2012 genesis sedan.

Over the past two months i've experienced three cases of uncontrolled acceleration. Specifically, as i'm driving the car begins to accelerate. I remove my foot from the accelerator and the car continues to accelerate. As i step on the brake the car will slow down, but it's "fighting" me. As i remove my foot from the brake the car begins to accelerate again. If i shift into neutral while this is happening, the rpm's on the car increase very rapidly. The only way i can stop this is to turn the car off.i'm not using cruise control and i have been traveling from 35 to 40 mph. I can't recreate this problem at will and neither can the dealer - so nobody at the dealership has any idea what to do. They have contacted hyundai with no luck.

When starting my car, rpms jumped to 4 without press any pedals. And my car was shaking and really big sound from engine while its on park. And i switched to drive mode and suddenly my car move forward by itself. And then hit sidewalk and heatshield got damaged. I went to dealership. But no problem found. I was really scared, i thought im gonna die.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. The contact statedwhileattempting to park, the vehicle suddenly accelerated causing the contact to crash into a wall on april 23, 2011. On june 3, 2011 while approaching a stop sign, the vehicle accelerated through the stop sign and struck another vehicle on the rear fender. A police report was filed. The contact and passenger were not injured. The dealership was contacted and stated that they had never heard of that type offailure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 2,000. Updated 07/08/11updated 11/18/11.

On december 18, 2015 at approximately 4:45pm, my husband and i were beginning our trip to an event. We were stopped at a stop light, about the 4th or 5th car in line to turn left onto a major road. There are 2 lanes for turning left and we were in the turn lane next to the lane that goes straight across the main road because we were going to have to make the first right onto the interstate after getting on the main road. We had already come to a complete stop and had been stopped for probably a minute or so. Cars were also stopped behind us. It is a steep hill, and we were facing uphill so his foot was firmly on the brakes.then all of a sudden the engine just started roaring like it was full throttle and it took off forward and hit a nissan frontier pickup truck in front of us. It went under the truck's bumper and kept plowing forward. He tried to take it out of gear and it would not go. We watched as the hood kept crumpling more and more as we were lifting up the truck as we were going under it. The back wheels of the truck were off of the ground. I finally thought to reach over and turn the engine off. Thank the lord, it shut off before anyone got hurt.

Twice today, while driving in stop/go traffic, the car felt as if it was accelerating on its own. When i took the foot of the brake to go, the car would jolt forward on its own. Had to press the brake bery hard to make sure it wouldnt go by itself. I had to pull over, afraid i would hit car. When i put it on neutral, the engine revved to 3000rpms and it stayed there. My foot was not on the gas pedal at all. When i tried shifting back to drive, it jolted forward. The only way to get it to stop doing this was to turn the engine off. After the first time, i drove about 30 min in 40mph traffic, before it did it again. At times the car felt like it didnt want to accelerate when i wanted to. Then as traffic slowed down, started accelerating on its own again. This is not the first time this happens. I brought the car to the hyundai dealership several months back for the same issue and they said they found nothing wrong. Someone needs to look into this before someone gets hurt.

* js

Scary

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While idling at a stop light, the contact's vehicle accelerated and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 38,233.

My 2011 hyundai genesis engaged in unintended sudden acceleration on 3/9/16 at 5:35 pm, in tampa, fl, resulting in a crash into a dwelling at 306 west frances avenue, tampa, fl.33607.vehicle was in the process of being parked on side of house when it all of a sudden accelerated and applying the brakes failed to stop it

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai genesis. While driving approximately 25 mph, the cruise control erroneously activated and could not be turned off. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would slow down but the cruise control would not deactivate. After switching the transmission to neutral, the rpms immediately increased to 5,000. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cruise control module failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,300.

I was traveling on a turnpike in moderate traffic at approximately 74 miles per hour.i felt the vehicle get warm inside so i increased the air conditioning to low (maximum cool setting) .about a minute later, i heard a loud "pop" and that was the sunroof exploding.when it happened, the inside cover came open about two (2) inches and glass particles fell on the interior of the vehicle including myself.fortunately, the glass did notget into my eyes and was able to get the vehicle to the side of the road without incident.about 60% of the glass blew out ofthe vehicle unto the road behind me.trailing vehicles were not involved and again, fortunate that there was no tailgating or the glass would have flown onto their vehicles.the glass exploded into sharp shards and in pieces about a quarter inch.worst case would have been glass in the eyes and not being able to control the vehicle.

On wednesday june 14th 2017, while in motion and operating the vehicle on a state route at 45 mph, the windshield wipers ceased all operations, just completely ceased to function.it was during a rainstorm at the time est 7:45am maineville, ohio / mason ohio area to verify the storm with weather channel, a severe thunderstorm wasin effect. I had to stop the car in the middle of the road to prevent an accident from happening stopping all traffic behind me.the specific part is the wiper motor and the transmission broke according to columbia hyundai.they refused to repair it under stated extended warranty.service manager stated if i caused a wreck it would have caused a campaign recall.the recall as i understand it is 140.but yet they refused to repair it.

I was driving down the highway at approximately 70 mph at just a little past dusk when out of nowhere i heard a very loud pop. At first i assumed that my windshield had been hit by a large rock or something that had been kicked up off the road and i immediately began looking for any sign of damage. I saw nothing and continued driving. A minute later i hear a whistling noise. Trying to figure out where it's coming from, i eventually partially slide open the roof panel and discover that there is a gaping hole in the sunroof.the more i drive, and the more bumps i hit, more and more glass keeps falling.fortunately, my sliding roofpanel was closed, so it prevented any of the glass from falling on me. It could be a big safety issue for glass to randomly shatter a driver who is on the highway. Fortunately for me, it had just stopped raining 30 minutes before this happened. I have filed an insurance claim, and they're going to fix it in a few days, but it's going to cost more than my $500 deductible. One estimate i received was for $600.i've known very many people who drive cars with sunroofs and have owned prior, and i have never seen or heard of this happening on others.here's hoping it doesn't rain between now and when it's fixed.

The rear tires wear incredibly quick60,000 mile tires in 11,000 50,000 mile tires in 19,000 cheap tires even quicker.i took the car into hyundai for them to take a look at it and the said everything was fine with the car.everything checked out the alignment was fine. I took the car to my mechanic he said the alignment was fine but there has to be something wrong with the car for this to happen. The car has less than 40,000 miles and this will be the 4th set of rear tires
