Airbagi brought my car in to have the airbag and dashchecked by hyundai dealer in west palm beach florida.the dash around my airbag has cracked in a perfect line at the air bag location photo attached.they refused to check the airbag. I am asking for help to get my airbag checked and also have the dash removed and replaced by hyundai. I am very concerned that this passenger airbag is affected by the recall.i need this checked out before an insistent happens.please help.they also refused to put anything in writing. The air bag sensor indicator is on and it won't go off. The dealership at hyundai west broad st is telling me that it needs a pods ecu, which cost 3,000.00 and i told them their is a recall on the genesis coupe/2010 for the same issue and why isn't this cover by hyundai for the genesis sedan? they will not acknowledge this nor will they call hyundai and ask why isn't this same defectcover for the sedan just like it is for the genesis coupe? west broad hyundai dealership in richmond, va. Wants to charged me $3,500.00 to fix this problem on my car so it will pass state inspection.

This vehicle has a feature where the door mirrors angle down when the car goes into reverse, and then comes back to normal viewing position when you change to any other gear (e.g. Park, drive). Intermittently, one mirror (driver or passenger) does not come back up. The driver will not likely notice the mirror not returning to it normal viewing position until he uses the mirror again, like when he changes lanes. I have had this happened almost a dozen times to me. I have almost side swiped other drivers on three occasions. I have been to the dealership nine times so far, but they have not fixed it. It is hard to diagnose because it doesn't happen often. Many other hyundai genesis owners have seen this issue.http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=10483.

2010 hyundai genesis 3.8l v6 w/ premium navigation package (touchscreen): bluetooth connects to phone even when accessory power is off. The following was observed with or without the smart key:1. Every time a door is opened, or the remote is used to lock the door, the bluetooth gets connected; 2. Once inside the car, the bluetooth keeps connected without starting engine or turning accessory power on:3. Step out of the car, close the door, and wait a minute or so, the blue tooth disconnects. Cell phone becomes useless in these situation unless i:1. Turn phone's bluetooth off; or2. Start engine or turn accessory power on to use car's speaker and mic; or3. Move away from the car, 20' or so; or4. Step outside, close door and wait for a minute before using the phone-- all appear safety hazard in an emergency.

Hello nhtsa administrator,i bought a new hyundai genesis in march 2010. Around august 2010, i had a small fender bender in the parking lot. To keep warranty intact on the car, hyundai insisted that the wiring harness on the car be replaced, which i did for approximately $5000. Since then, i have had multiple electronic items go bad in the car. I replaced some of these at my own expense. But the problem has gotten worse with some expensive electronic components going bad over the last 2 years. In normal circumstances, these components should not go bad over the life of the car, and certainly not at a frequency that they have failed in my car. I attribute these failures to bad/defective job done during wiring harness replacement. But hyundai has refused to accept responsibility since the car is out of warranty.below is a list of the bad components, approximate date of the component going bad, whether it is replaced/fixed and approximate expense to fix them1. Telescopic steering wheel--2015--repaired as part of warranty2. Power switch assembly driver's seat--jan 2016--$236.19--paid out-of-pocket to get it replaced3. Jog dial assembly--oct 2016--$1031.70--paid out-of-pocket to get it replaced4. Front cabin dome light assembly--feb 2017--$376.91--paid out-of-pocket to get it replaced5. Smart cruise control--mar 2017--not replaced--dealership gave me a quote of ~$4500 to replace6. Passenger cabin dome light assembly--aug 2017--not replaced--$4500 estimate to replace7. Multi disc cd player--feb 2018--not replaced--$1000 estimate to replacei would like nhtsa to investigate hyundai for this matter and force them to pay for repairs. As a consumer, i feed cheated and being forced to double pay for repairs - once for the wiring harness replacement and now for all problems attributed to it.sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

This is a recurring hesitation problem. I first noticed this when making a turn into traffic. The hesitation is significant. In some cases there is an acceleration pause of 1-2 seconds. This does not occur every time i accelerate but its lack of predictability is a problem in and of itself. I have come close to being rear ended because the car would just not move when i pressed the accelerator. Also, when the car windows are up and the car sits in the sun for a few hours the central nav and communication system over heats and will not function until it cools off (maybe 20 minutes). In the meantime, back up camera does not work, temperature controls do not work and the bluetooth system does not function.

Took my 2010 genesis in for service...brake stop lights were notworking.replaced defective switch.took my same car in for state inspection on september 9, 2014, brake lights not working again.replaced defective switch myself because of 2 hour drive to dealer and the safety issue involved with driving vehicle.something needs to be done!these switches should not fail this often....this is a very serious safety issue.we don't know how long this switch was not working since there is no way to tell when you are driving the vehicle...thanks! Car seems to have electrical issues it just shuts off etc just found out i purchased a lemon odometer rollback

The navigational/radio/antenna system completely shutdown without any power ranging from 2hrs to a full day. I also have researched that other 2010s of this make & model has experienced the same electrical issue just as well.

Headights turn off for several seconds while driving then come on again eventually.both headlamps go off together. Headlight switch in manual on position, not the auto on/off position which i do not use.

The tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) displays erroneous tire pressure readings during cold weather climates despite having the correct psi or adding air to reach an ultimate psi reading. This has been an issue with other models of hyundai vehicles with the tpms feature according to other owners.

The brake lights on the 2010 hyundai genesis (and possibly other years/models hyundai vehicles) have various problems with the brake lights failing to work. This is very dangerous not only to the hyundai genesis driver, but also for any driver following behind the car.there has been various factory recalls for the 2010 hyundai genesis brakes including one that causes the brake lights not to work due to a brake switch failure:http://www.cars.com/hyundai/genesis/2010/recallshowever the particular problem my car and other genesis owners have reported does not have a factory recall for it, even though it poses the some of the same safety issues that the brake switch factory recall had. Http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=3269the root cause is diode that fails which cause the brake lights not to work. (this is different that the brake switch factory recall.) i don't know how many months i drove without having brake lights. My state inspection was in january 2014.a driver that was behind my car informed me my brake lights didn't work in may 2014. I had my car towed to the dealer due to the danger of driving when the car's brake lights don't work. Apparently hyundai knows about the issue (according to the above link) :technical service bulletin 09-be-023, stop lamp z01 diode inspection procedure, appears to describe the location and procedure for troubleshooting of the diode but describes the issue as " . . . Vehicles may experience the stop lamps blinking on and off even when brakes are not applied."why is there no factory recall for this problem? it can cause serious accidents which could lead to fatalities.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. In addition, the vehicle failed to start on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. The dealer replaced the battery, the key fob, the smart key module and the ignition lock module however, the failure remedy failed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,000 and the current mileage was 84,700.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer. The mechanic was unable to locate the failure. The failure recurred three days later. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer for a second time. The vehicle was in the process of being diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Took my car in for servicing and asked them to check my air conditioning unit.no cool air from the system.the technician said a piece of glass and wire resembling part of a tire retread had somehow passed through the grill and damaged the condenser.thus, freon leaked out over time resulting in lack of cool air.the service clerk said he had heard that this had occurred in the past with other hyundai genesis.interesting how there is no damage to the front end of the car or the grill.does not sound feasible that a piece of glass (2 inches by 1 inch with quarter inch thickness) and wire (7 inches) could sneak through grill and hit with velocity to damage a condenser with no damage to the grill.are grill slats too wide or is there a lack of under carriage protection?the dealership kept the glass and wire and suggested that i contact my insurance company as this estimated $1000 item was not covered by the hyundai 5 year, 60 thousand mile warranty.

I have complained at least 2 or 3 times concerning a sudden acceleration from the stop position. The engine revs up and the car takes off without my doing it. I've reported this in 2014, and 2016 - now i see there's a recall for the transmission but my car isn't one of them? really...

I was driving my vehicle turning on to a main street from a highway. Without warning the car entered limp mode. I did not have any engine response and the car would not do more than about 10 miles an hour. I pulled off the road and restarted the car. I was able to get the car to the dealership. Dealership says car has codes for faulty throttle position sensor and it need to be replaced. I have seen other people with a similar issue.

Small pebble went through the front grill while driving my hyundai genesis 2010 model and damaged condenser costing me $800. This was not covered for warranty and the sad part is this could happen anytime anywhere again. Hyundai genesis has no protection on front grill with huge spacing. This is a design defect that needs to be addressed. I still have no air conditioning in my brand new hyundai genesis.

While driving my 2010 hyundai genesis sedan i began to feel dizzy and light headed. My heart began to race and my hands became numb and tingly. This also happened briefly yesterday ( 8/1/11 ). Upon exiting the vehicle, there was a very strong smell of gasoline. A friend drove me to the er where i described my symptoms to the doctor on duty. After drawing my blood, it was determined that my co - carbon monoixde, level was higher than normal - 3 times normal. I had been in the car for approximately 3 hours today. When i went to drive the vehicle to a hotel, i had to put all windows down and sunroof open because of the gas vapors. I have reported this to hyundai of north america and they are towing the car to dealership to investigate.

When using turn signals, headlights flicker on and off.well documented on youtube; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1irlov-bkdu & hyundai genesis forum; http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=12504 high safety risk during night time driving.

Driving at night, using turn signal, headlight goes off. When turn is completed.

Headlights flash when switching from "auto" to "on" position.occasionally the headlights in the "on" positon will blackout for 2-5 seconds until headlight stalk is giggled. There is an electrical "noise" (like a short circuit sound...a "pop") when switching from auto to on.the turn signals also seem to trigger the "short circuit".all of these conditions can occur moving or standing still.on any type of roadway.

1) almost hit from oncoming traffic at a stop light, when i was attempting to make a left hand turn. The signal turned yellow so i tried to turn left before i realized the oncoming car was going to run the light. I took my foot off the brake and hit the gas to make a quick turn to avoid the oncoming car.the car stalled for a second as i pressed the gas into the turn, then kicked into full power, screeching the tires. I thought this was a fluke but his same problem of "stalling" for a few seconds when depressing the brake and hitting the gas at takeoff keeps happening intermittently. This is a dangerous issue. When needing to accelerate quickly from a stop, this car has a seconds gap from hitting the gas to the car moving. I've almost been hit twice because of it.2) the headlights switch off intermittently when using the turn signals to change lanes or turn. They flash oncoming drivers as i click down to turn them on before the turn, or when the turn signal clicks back after the turn. This problem happens almost every time i drive the vehicle with the headlights on. The lights have shut off completely for about 5 seconds while i was driving down the freeway, impairing my ability to see at night. I had to immediately pull over on the freeway in an unsafe location to turn the lights off, then turn them back on to clear the problem. 3) my vehicle had the brake switch replaced from the 2013 recall. However, pressing the brake still does not shut off the cruise control when driving down the freeway.i have to manually turn it off from the button on the steering wheel. I love this car, but i'm afraid to drive my children in it if these problems are not addressed. This vehicle is unsafe and it is going to kill or seriously injure people. Please investigate these mechanical problems and issue the appropriate recalls.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis.the contact stated that while driving at any speed during night, when using the turning signals the head lights turned off intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact was unaware of what was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the manufacturer.the failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

Headights turn off for several seconds while driving then come on again eventually.both headlamps go off together. Headlight switch in manual on position, not the auto on/off position which i do not use.

Headlights flicker on and off when using turn signals.they will go off for as long as two seconds and then come back on.very unsafe when driving at night.this will happen when the vehicle is in motion and also when on stopped position waiting to make turn.

I was traveling on highway roads and made lane change.upon activating the turn signal, the headlights turn off and remained off until the turn signal was deactivated.this has occurred intermittently since.this seems to be very dangerous for night driving on poorly lit roads.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the brake lights failed to illuminate. A dealer had not diagnosed the vehicle. The manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was serviced per an unknown recall campaign in 2014 and 2016; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v113000 (service brakes, hydraulic, exterior lighting). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.

We just recently purchased this car. The headlights are more like spot lights instead of flood. At night, the low beam bulbs direct a light down low, and there's a horizon above them, which is dark. It's a horizontal line ahead of you. When you start down a hill, towards the bottom, the dark area completely covers the road ahead. You cannot see anything in front and above you, like the road climbing in front of you. Also, that horizontal dark line moves up and down with the bumps in the road, and almost brings on motion sickness. If we get in a hilly area, that could become possible. The dealer won't adjust the lights higher, because they're in spec, now. This is dangerous, and should be addressed.

Hyundai is having a real issue with their fuel pumps.my car is currently in the shop for its 3rd fuel pump at 120k miles.the safety issue is how the pump goes out with no indication of an issue from the car at all.this time i was parked at a gas station, however the 2nd incident is more concerning. Then, i was traveling on the highway at approx. 70-75 mph.without warning, the engine stopped and of course so all of the other controls from the engine.because i had a full loss of power, i was lucky that there were no cars in the inside lane and i could move over in time to get to the side shoulder.i literally coasted to the shoulder at 20 mph.if i hadn't been able to get to the shoulder, i would have been stuck in the middle of a 4 lane highway with no way to move the car.

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer to be diagnosed and was informed that the electronic parking brake (epb) module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,763.

Genesis 4.6hesitates when attempting to accelerate from slow speed (creep). Hesitation may be up to 3-4 seconds making entering heavy traffic dangerous and unsafe.the problem is intermittent and therefore difficult for dealership to duplicate.although there seems to be a number of complaints on the internet describingthe problem, hyundai refuses to acknowledge a manufacturing issues with certain transmissions.

Car wouldn't shift into 1st gear.it just made a grinding noise.finally it went into gear but kept making a noise when in 1st gear.

While driving on highway i-10 w was driving at 65 mph, had to brake to slow down to about 10 mph behind traffic that was slowing down and came to complete halt with foot on brake. When traffic cleared, on releasing brake and trying to accelerate again the car would not engage in any gear. Brought the car to park position and turned off engine and tried to restart the car, the car would continue to be on starter mode even though the engine had started. After several tries the car restarted but the gear would not engage. Moved the shift to shiftronic mode but the car would still not engage in any gear. Had to call in a tow company and wait in the car for over 30 minutes of harrowing experience in an unsafe situation. Car was towed to the dealership. They have been unable to replicate the problem. This is the 4 instance when the car has stalled in the middle of traffic in a highly unsafe situation. The car dealers response has been unsatisfactory. Wonder ifthey have contacted the manufacturer about this highly unsafe failure in the car. Number of people are on the road with risk of a serious accident.

I was driving in a grocery store parking lot and went over a speed bump at maybe 2 miles an hour and both my front headrest discharged.

I have visit the hyundai dealer for several times my car is only 27500 miles the power seat would not back up,i enter the car with extreme difficulty, i have to recline the seat to seat in the car in a very uncomfortable position, not to mention my right knee touching the dashboard, is been more than 5 times, hoping to never have a small accident because if the air back activates in the incident i won't be writing it in a future. Please help! it can happen any time when adjusting your car seat, the only way ito fix the problem is visiting the dealer for warranty service. Please help!

I was turning into the driveway of a shopping center when i was rear-ended by another car. The force of the collision caused both active headrests to launch. The force of the active headrest hitting the back of my head caused a concussion and for two days a loss of all memories going back approximately 4 years. I was hospitalized and stayed one night. Most of my memories have returned but i have absolutely no memory of the day of the accident pre, during, or post accident. I am home now but cannot drive for at least two weeks and i am not allowed to travel on business because of caution about the accident.these headrests are dangerous. Any marginal protection they might provide is not worth the suffering of a concussion and the loss of memory. It could have been worse. What if i had not been able to recover my memory or worse yet, not able to create new memories. For the first day i was in the hospital, i could not remember a single thing i was told no matter how many times i was told. I am being told by hyundai that they cannot replace the active headrests with normal headrests. That is very frightening. I don't want those things in my car. I learned through experience how dangerous they are.

When i pressed on the brake pedal, it felt mushy.completely different from the firm braking the vehicle brakes had exhibited just a few minutes previously.i could feel the brakes trying to engage at the proper brake pedal placement but then i had to continue pressing the pedal because the brakes were not engaging.only after i continued to apply pressure to the brake pedal toward the end of the pedals range of motion did i finally feel the brakes begin to slow the car.after this first occurrence, since i was over 300 miles from home, i had to anticipate any braking i needed to do.i found that each time i needed to brake, if i pumped the brakes after the first initial pressing of the brake pedal, i could get the brake pedal to build up pressure so i would have close to the same braking 'feel' that i hadbefore this problem began.i returned home on saturday.i did not drive the car on sunday.on monday, i took the genesis to the hyundai dealership.after almost two hours, they said they had identified the problem as the master cylinder.i had the master cylinder replaced on tuesday.there was almost no change in the mushiness of the brake pedal.after searching the internet for possible causes i discovered hyundai has had considerable complaints about fading and mushy brakes on their genesis line of vehicles.it seems it all stems from the hydraulic electronic control unit module.so, with hyundai knowing this, why did the service department of the abilene, tx dealership recommend a master cylinder replacement when, in my estimation, the first culprit should have been the abs module?i discovered this persistent issue with the genesis vehicle on wednesday, i have an appointment with the abilene tx hyundai dealership on thursday.i'll see how they respond.

Several months ago when i attempted to brake, the pedal went down to the floor.however, upon stopping the car and restarting the engine, the car appeared to be normal.i called the dealer and reported the problem and was told by the service writer that if it was not "doing it further" and there were no warning lights there was no point in bringing the car in.today, i experienced a total brake failure; this time i was in a parking lot and the pedal went all the way to the floor and i was only able to stop the car by letting it reduce to coasting speed and shifting into "park".as i was only a few blocks from my house, i was able to limp home, pumping the brake to stop.my husband called the dealership when i got home and was told to bring it over.the dealership is about 4 miles from our house, my husband drove very slowly and found that upon pressing the brake pedal there was minimal braking and then complete fade out of the brakes.he used the parking brake to stop the car when necessary. When the car was examined at the dealership they reported to my husband that the abs module had failed and needed to be replaced.(it is important to note that this failure took place without warning and without any indicator lights, either the abs light or the brake light, indicating that there was a problem.)before filing this complaint, i looked online and found many, many complaints of the exact same problem.whyhasn't nhtsa ordered an investigation or recall?

Driving about 10 mph on tight curvy country road, brake pedal went to the floor. Pumping the pedal got the car to stop. Dealer said the brake force distribution module failed, allowing brake fluid to simply bypass being sent to the brakes.this is a very dangerous failure mode; it should fail by eliminating abs but still giving full brake force.there was no indication on dash lights that anything had failed.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. While driving, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a ditch. The vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic electronic control unit needed to be replaced. The passenger fender needed to be repaired and the front passenger tire needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

Brake pedal goes to the floor without much effort when at a full stop or in motion.little to no actual braking occurs until reaching the full travel of the pedal.this is very dangerous and the dealership (burns hyundai of marlton nj) acknowledged it is the hydraulic control unit, but refuses to replace under the 2013 recall of the unit.they quoted me at $3,024.50.

Total brake failure on 5/10/2013 and 5/11/2013.

On 7/1/2014 i was driving at approximately 35 mph when i put my foot on the brake of my 2010 hyundai genesis and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor of the car and the car did not stop. The next day i phoned hyundai about the incident and asked if i could bring the car in for a brake inspection. I was told do to 4th of july holiday they would not be able to look at the car. Since they would not make this a priority i took the car to my local mechanic for inspection on 7/3/14. The local mechanic was not able to determine the cause. Later that day the car had begun stopping as needed with no cause identified so i went back to normal driving but maintained feeling uncomfortable. I had forgotten that previously i had taken my car to hyundai service to have a safety recall performed on 1/27/2014 (recall #114) that specifically related this this as a possibility. The service involved replacing the brake fluid due to having too low of a boiling temperature leading to eventual corrosion of the hecu anti-lock braking component resulting in reduced stopping ability or complete failure of braking power which is what occurred. On 8/13/2014 once again i went to put my foot on the brake while driving and again my foot went straight to the floor and was unable to stop the vehicle resulting in me almost hitting another car in my work parking lot. I immediately took the car to the dealer insisting they perform a brake inspection. They determined after a few days that it was the hecu unit that needed replacement and proposed charging me $3500 for the repair later reducing that to $2500 when i complained that my vehicle had relatively low mileage and complete brake failure was unacceptable and their responsibility. The cost of repair and other expenses incurred (rental car) is completely hyundai's responsibility since lose of braking relates directly to safety recall #114.

Brakes completely failed as i entered nj turnpike. No braking power was restored. Drove in lowest gear and used emergency brake. Second incident with this car in 6 weeks.

As i was driving down a major street traveling around 35 mph, the car in front of me began to stop.as i began to apply the brakes, my car's pedal went to the floor.i pumped the brakes a few times and began to get some pressure, but i was not able to stop in time before rear ending the car in front of me. I never knew what the issue was and i couldn't get the problem to duplicate, but the brake pedal was soft since that day.i have changed the pads, and rotors, so those are not the issue.this week, my fuel pump went out and i took the car to the mechanic for that issue.my mechanic informed me that the car needed an abs pump.the dealers are well aware of the issue because when we checked the price of the part ($2600), the parts agent immediately knew the problem.there are numerous complaints online about the exact same issue.this is truly a safety issue for these cars.there are many complaints online with the same problem!!!!!!!

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that approximatley 80% of the vehicle's brakes failed while driving approximately 50 mph. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was not diagnosed. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired according to nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes) in february of 2015. The vehicle was not reapired. The manufacturer was notfied of the failure. The failure mielage was approximately 63,000.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the brake pedal was abnormally depressed into the floorboard. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the braking system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

When driving the vehicle, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and my brakes went totally out. It is a miracle there wasn't a crash with someone killed. There was a recall for this same issue and my recall was done last december but obviously the damage was already done and it did not fix my car. I called that dealership back today and they advised me that because the recall had been done and my car is out of warranty, that everything will be at my expense to repair. I will also have to pay to have it towed to be repaired. Hyundai should be paying for the towing, repair, and loaner vehicle as this was a major safety issue that they have failed to take care of.

I was traveling approximately around 45mph when i pressed on the brake to stop at a intersection. However the car had other plans and didn't stop as desired due to the brake pedal going to the floor! thankfully, no traffic was in the oncoming lane and the turn lane for me just turned green. I was able to go around the car ahead of me and make the turn without incident. I then proceeded to limp the car over to the local hyundai dealership here in jacksonville, fl. They diagnosed it as a bad abs module for the brakes.my 3rd party warranty company wouldn't repair the car due to no check engine light coming on from this brake failure. Key hyundai repaired the car at no additional cost to me even with my car having 63k miles on it. Another thing to note is that they had just changed out the brake fluid due to a tsb a few months prior of which the old fluid could cause corrosion on the brake system from what i understand.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. While driving 25 mph, the brakes malfunctioned. The contact had to depress the brake pedal to the floorboard in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 16,000.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. While driving 40 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and took a greater distance to stop the vehicle. The contact had to depress the brake pedal multiple times in order to get the vehicle to stop. The vehcile was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic electronic control unit (hecu) needed to be replaced. The vehcile was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The failure mileage was 38,000.

I had two prior incidents where partial to complete braking failure occurred previously, but the issue was only temporary (a single stop). This incident persisted for duration of my drive, prompting research into the issue (and discovery of the known abs hecu corrosion issue.i was attempting to slow and make a turn onto a sidestreet on the way to work, when the brake pedal went to the floor with minimal resistance (and limited braking effectiveness). This prompted a panicked pumping of the brakes to eventually stop the vehicle 5-10ft shy of the rear bumper of another car. After carefully testing to ensure i had some braking effectiveness, i finished the short distance to my office, noting that the pedal remained very soft, going to the floor with ease, and having limited success in stopping the vehicle. I shudder to think what would have happened had this issue presented itself at highway speeds. I have already contacted hyundai corporate and dropped my vehicle off with a dealership for recall repair. I am hoping this incident, coupled with my manufacture date (prior to june 1, 2010 cutoff date) will justify a full abs hecu replacement under recall.

I was driving on spring cypress rd (spring, tx) approaching state highway 249 at 30 mph, i stepped on the brakes at the intersection and the pedal went all the way down to the floor.if i didn't start pumping the brakes, i would have rear ended car on front of me.if this incident had happened while i was on the sh249 freeway, i wouldn't be here filing this report.i was able to drive slowly to the hyundai dealer using side roads.

Brakes failed - so master cylinder was replaced by dealer but brakes are still a bit spongy. Abs is not working quite right. Brake fluid had already been replaced 6 months earlier under recall, but brake control unit was not replaced. I am concerned that control unit should have been replaced andby other reports it seems hyundai is very reluctant to pay for that. Car is still under warranty.

As i was exiting the highway, the brakes went almost all the way to the floor.the rest of the trip i needed to pump the brakes to enable me to stop.i took it the hyundai dealer the next day and they said it there was a recall for the abs module.i had the dot4 fluid recall done on december 3rd 2013 (up until then i had never had a brake issue) and apparently the abs module recall came out dec 20, 2013.the dealer replaced the module under warranty and now the car brakes fine.i just wanted to document the failure.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. While depressing the brake pedal and attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic electronic control unit failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Breaks failed. Taking exit from highway and the car wouldn't stop as the breaks would work. Was very fortunate to have found gap between two lanes and avoided a major accident. Dealer confirmed the breaks failed and there have been numerous break failures reported with genessis. Had recently got breaks checked and was told 'every thing is fine'. Question is why didn't hyundai do a recall and proactively replace my break system? one whole day of suspense about how much it will cost me... And i was told hyundai would cover the cost of replacement as it was a known problem. Dealer called it 'goodwill warranty'.

Background:am original owner of this 2010 hyundai genesis that was purchased july 31, 2010 and that currently has less than 35,000 miles on it.issue:unexpectedly, the brakes became "squishy" (i.e. Brake pedal depressed a long distance before engaging brakes).advised by hyundai dealer that it is a faulty hecu unit and needs to be replaced for $3,800.note:the brake fluid was replaced in april 2013 and the hecu unit was supposedly inspected in january 2014.i believe these were done in response to prior recalls.that said, upon some further reading on the internet, i am under the impression that when this problem was previously identified for recall, the recall should have resulted in my hecu unit being replaced, not just inspected.i intend to raise this issue with the hyundai dealer and, hopefully, hyundai will stand behind the replacement of the hecu unit without charging me.

Partial loss of braking - while traveling down the highway at 45 mph the vehicles in front of me abruptlyslowed down requiring me to quickly apply my brakes.upon application of my brakes, i started to slow down and then the brake pedal suddenly released, providing limited braking.i continued to push the brake pedal towards the floor and the vehicle came to a stop but it required a longer stopping distance than normal.updated 9/28/18

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. The contact had to depress the brake pedal excessively in order to stop the vehicle. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to suburban hyundai (1814 maplelawn dr, troy, mi) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist since the master cylinder was not part of a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Tilt-telescope steering wheel stopped raising, causing it to both block visibility of part of dashboard and limit egress for drivers. Was repaired twice and failed a total of three times.dealer has replaced module which was reputed to correct problem, and has conferred with hyundai, but it recurs in three to four weeks. There was no incident to report to police nor was there damage.

Titl - telescopic steering wheel becomes locked in lowest height setting totally blocking all instruments on the dashboard and greatly restricting exit from the car under all types of conditions.especially a problem for those with limited mobility caused by age, injuries, operations, etc.hyundai has no fix although the car has been returned to them 5 times.applies to 2009, 2010, 2011 genesis sedan models.

While driving my genesis 2010 sedan, the battery light illuminated, then the power steering did not respond. I was about 1/2 miles from my house and i had to wrestle with my steering wheel until i got home.the scary part was that i unexpectedly lost power steering during a turn at the traffic light. Luckily, no on coming traffic was near as i completed the turn on the opposite slide of the street. I fortunately arrive home, parked the vehicle and had it towed to the mechanics.i learned that the alternator went out and so did the battery. Luckly, during the turn i did not crash, but it was very nervous the rest of the way.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that the there was a fracture in the passenger side of the dashboard that was causing the passenger air bag to become visible. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

The tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) displays erroneous tire pressure readings during cold weather climates despite having the correct psi or adding air to reach an ultimate psi reading. This has been an issue with other models of hyundai vehicles with the tpms feature according to other owners.

In my opinion and verified by the dealership where the car was purchase -the genesis has pull to the left under normal driving and when accelerating; this becomes very severe if not immediately corrected this occurs at 25 mph to 45 mph. In my opinion this problem becomes extremely severe to the point of dangerous on roads when wet at speeds of 65 to 73 mph. In my opinion this problem is extremely severe to the point of dangerous at all times when at speeds of 75 to 85 mph.hyundai had a regional technician look into the problem at the dealership.i was informed by the dealership the same problem occurred with him in the genesis.at that point, they removed things i normally carry in the trunk which weigh about 150 pounds in total -after removing these the hyundai regional technician told the dealership the genesis operates within hyundai specifications; and the dealership communicated to me that the hyundai regional technician recommends not putting anything in the trunk and the genesis will operate to hyundai specifications.i feel the same problem of a severe pull to the left occurs if the trunk has things in it or without; although to a lesser extent if the trunk is empty. In addition the steering seems to be most difficult and a bit loose at the 70mph to 85mph speeds.i feel the genesis may be prone to veer into other lanes or oncoming traffic if continual focused attention is not given to steering (or, struggling with steering at higher speeds). I do not feel thatusing the trunk of a car is any more than usual use.however, hyundai stands behind their regional report and is completely unresponsive to this matter.i bring this to your attention for my own and others' safety.

Brake pedal suddenly becomes soft. Front brake pads were replaced 10/15/19.problem corrected for three month.pedal suddenly very soft without warning. Car will stop but not as expected.dangerous if not anticipated.diagnosed as hydraulic control module.estimated cost to repair $3800.

Brake pedal one 2 occasions while applying the brake went all the way to the floor with very diminished stopping power the first time was on the highway a few months ago and the second time this happened was december 31 2017 i drove the car home and did not drive it till tuesday, jan 2nd, 2018 when it drove it slowly to the dealer on the way there the pedal got firmer but still spongy not normal the dealer can't find the problem and will not help me i'm afraid to drive the car

Airbagi brought my car in to have the airbag and dashchecked by hyundai dealer in west palm beach florida.the dash around my airbag has cracked in a perfect line at the air bag location photo attached.they refused to check the airbag. However they contacted hyundai and asked for dash replacement.hyundai was willing to pay for the dash part but not any labor to install new dash or to check my airbag to make sure it will not go off. I am asking for help to get my airbag checked and also have the dash removed and replaced by hyundai. I am very concerned that this passenger airbag is affected by the recall.i need this checked out before an insistent happens.please help.they also refused to put anything in writing. Phone case number 8648772.

As i was driving, the ground became unleveled, i tried to slow down my speed and i experienced brake failure. My brake pedal sunk down to the floor before my car would come to a complete stop. For two months my car has been in and out of hyundai dealerships trying to figure out the issue, all the while charging me for test, and no one can correct this issue. It's now 2 1/2 months and i'm still without my car. I need for hyundai to be held accountable.

Attempted to reduce speed to enter neighborhood street and brake pedal went to floor. Continued pressure stopped the vehicle. Brakes could be pumped up and continued to stop the vehicle, but with seriously degraded braking capability. An accident waiting to happen.

The brakes malfunctioned while driving on a local road.stepped on the brake pedal, felt normal at first, then pedal gave way almost to the floor and braking power was very little.pumping the brake pedal recovered some brake power only temporarily.pulled over and shut down the car.about an hour later, restarted the car and the brakes were still poor.brought the car to the dealer who could not work on it until the next day.the next day the dealer found no problems with the brakes and i refused to take back the car until something was done.the dealer kept the car about six weeks and road tested it almost every day but could not provoke the problem to return.i asked the dealer to replace any or all parts that could be the cause of the problem.the dealer refused to do such a thing and also stated that there was no way for hyundai to diagnose the trouble.they relied on only the electronic sensors and since there were no fault codes they would not take any liability to replace parts on a presumptive basis.i considered the car untrustworthy and said it should not be driven.i traded the car in at the same dealer for another car with a different braking system design.

Brakes are spongy. 63000 miles.brake pads are at 70% on the back and 50% on the front.brake fluid level is ok.when using the brake pedal it seems to come to a stop and then i am able to push down more.pushing down more is what is required to stop thevehicle.

My 2010 hyundai genesis was recalled for a defective faulty break switch in 2014 and the required service was performed 7/30/15.the following day i engaged the cruise control at 75 mph but almost rear ended the car in front of me because the integrated speed control did notactivate. The cruise control also turned completely off at times.i've returned the car twice to remedy the problem and was told they could not find a solution and have requested assistance from hyundai. I waited almost 2months with no word from hyundai and finally went to the dealership on 9/22/15 and was told they were still waiting for instruction from hyundai and they now have a second car with the same problem.i feel this is very dangerous and want to post this listing because i believe lifes are at stake and owners of these vehicles will more than likely be ticketed for causing accidents and, worse case scenario, be charged with vehicular manslaughter.

The contact owns a 2010 hyundai genesis. While attempting to accelerate from a stop light, the vehicle went into idle mode. After the third attempt of depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle accelerated rapidly. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to round rock auto group (2301 n interstate 35, frontage rd #300, round rock, tx, 78664 855 996-3127) where the pedal assembly dash accelerator was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,031. ..*dt

2010 hyundai genesis. Consumer states brake/ accelerator issues with vehicle *tgwthe consumer stated six to eight months ago, he began to experience a troubling problem with the brake /accelerator, which manifested itself by frequently causing the vehicle to jump ahead or jerk forward when shifting his foot from the accelerator to the brake pedal usually when intending to come to a stop.at times, the tendency for the vehicle to continue to move forward required an immediate strong braking effort to overcome that tendency and to actually stop the vehicle.the consumer stated he had only experienced the problem, while in forward gear.
