My hyundai elantra brake pedal flutters when i press it to stop giving off a loud noise and doesn't allow me to brake at times. I've taken it to the dealer but they say no issues have been found. The low tire pressure warning lights came on as i was driving down the highway and my tire pressure was displayed as 14 psi on my back left tire. I pulled over and looked at the tire and it didn't seem low. I plugged my portable tire air pump in and attached it to the tire, and the gauge on the pump said 36psi, which is what it is supposed to be at. I got back in my car and started driving, and the car said the psi was back to 36psi. Sounds like this is a common problem and hyundai needs to address it. I even took picture of the warning when it came on for proof.
While driving my car it just stops. I have been complaining to the local dealership for 1 year and they keep turning me away. My battery was replaced and that is it. I was told i was exaggerating that this was not happening. Yesterday was different from the other times it stopped.my car stopped on a busy highway and i almost ran off the side of the rode a cliff because the wheel and brakes locked up. No one is taking this serious. As i am driving the car will just shut off.the local dealership advised me to drive even further to get it fixed. How is this safe? i was told by rich its my car i own it its not their problem.

I bought the car in march 27 2018thecar won't never charge up my phone.when i use my chargerto charge my phone.my daughter has a genesisand it does the same thing and her charge in car blew out my phone i'm scare this elantragoing to do the same it will not charge unless the phoneis off.when my phone is on it keeps making flickeringsound.the light goes on and off on my lighter adapterand my phone will not charge.so i think it's electrical problem.i have try different phones but when i took it to stivers. Car has intermittent problem with acceleration. Will go into a fail safe mode, wont accelerate past 40-60 mph.i have had very close call on multiple accidents due to the fact i am unable to accelerate.my car lost power and could not pick up speed at all. This is a major safety issue and the car dealership will not help me.
Car shuts off while driving and at low speed which cost me an accident and almost my life and my unborn i had the car for about a year it first started two months after i got the car it cut off at a light i was able to turn it on it did it twice than never again until recently.
It appears the parking lamps stay on when car turned off while headlights are in auto. This leads to unintended battery drain leading to unoperational car.per owner's guide: the system automatically turns off the parking lamp when the key is removed (remote key) or when the driver turns the engine off (smart key) and opens the driver-side door.this does not meet the owner's guide's language.dealerships and inspection services did not confirm/reproduce this. There are no warning lights or indicators of this.

Engine noise became very loud over several days; took to dealership which told me a weld in the exhaust piping system had failed and that the exhaust pipe had broken open. They said it was not safe to drive because of potential for exhaust coming into cabin, ordered the part and gave me a loaner, on 10/2, saying the earliest i could reasonably expect to have my car back would be 10/18.

1. Car eats up oil so fast and there seem to be no valid reason. - causing engine misfire. 2. The acceleration on the car is delayed or stalled at times while i am on the road 3. The manufacturer stated that there was no maintenance records for the vehicle and declined to offer further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 18,559.

On 10/13/2018 i turned ignition on car to start and the car began rumbling and bumping and the shut down and the check engine light came on. I was stationary in my parking space at home when this happen...it also began bumping and dragging if to shut down again on 10/20/2018.each time car was taken to dealership..next, the instrument panel when blank while driving on 10/20/2018.now this time it was driven to dealer, they could not duplicate the mal function.this was on 10/23/2018 and 10/29/2018 at lynnes hyundai..on 10/16/2018 vechicle was towed to hudson hyundai for the same bumping. They said the tech found a shortage ignition coil and a cylinder misfired and he cleared the codes.coming home from lynnes on 10/29/18 after they said they could not find anything wrong with car, it began to rumble again.i am not comfortable driving this car. What if your in high speed traffic and it shuts down and your instrument panel goes black.could be a tragedy, if not someone's death
My 2018 elentra value edition started knocking in august of 2018. I called the dealership in chillicothe oh and they told me it was fine to drive and to bring it in the following monday. They said i should plan to wait while they looked at it and that i would be driving it home that day.. I drove about 20 miles and the engine made a loud noise and died. They never told me what caused the failure but there was oil and chunks of aluminum all over the road. They replaced the engine under the warranty. The car had 33,000 miles at that time. Then on december 23 of 2020 my engine started making the same exact noise. The car is now out of warranty with 144,000 miles on it. I removed the oil pan to find the problem. It was the number 3 cylinder. The connecting rod bearing was bad. I cleaned the journal on the crankshaft and measured it with plastigauge. It was 0.001" over the tolerance. I installed new bearing on all four rods in hopes that 0.001" out of tolerance wouldn't be to much. Every bearing on the rod side was worn out and the coating gone. The bearings on the bottom "cap" side were in decent shape except for the number 3 cylinder which was destroyed. After the engine had started and i had drove for around 5 miles it started knocking again. The journal on the crankshaft is to worn for the bearing to work. I have an engine ordered and i am replacing it myself. I have several years of schooling in auto mechanics and have grown up in a garage, i understand the importance of maintenance and never missed any on my car. It had every oil change with synthetic oil, oil filter changed every time, fluid levels were checked on a regular basis as was the air filter. The car isn't driven hard, there is no reason for the issues i've had other then defective parts or design of the engine in this car.
Engine seized completely on 6 /20/2021car was only highway driven and has had regula oil changes using quaker state synthetic oil as is recommended by the automakerwe still owe $10 k on this carits outragous that hyundai has had so many of these seizebut yet it keeps going onwe have had a licensed owner /mechanic look the car over and will provide a letter we fully expect this engine be replaced at hyundai's full expence

When accelerating with moderate to heavy throttle input, the engine emits excessive pinging and rattles noises. It sounds like "spark knock". No matter what brand of fuel or octane i run the car on, the engine makes these pinging and rattling noises. I've brought the car to the dealership service dept. Twice so far to address this concern. I was informed the first time that they hear the noise, but cannot diagnose it because the check engine light isn't illuminated. On the second visit, they told me it is a normal noise for the car. Having owned a handful of vehicles over the years, this noise is indicative of spark knock. If the problem is indeed excessive spark knock, this can lead to catastrophic engine failure, causing sudden loss of all power. After researching the issue online and speaking with other owners, it is apparent to me that it is a fairly common problem with the 2018 hyundai elantra sedan. I would like hyundai to investigate this issue and come up with a fix. This problem has existed since brand-new off the dealer lot. The car currently has approximately 4,000 miles.
The engine seized while i was driving on the road and it started smoking. The car just stopped and the engine could not be started again. Vehicle took twelve minutes to clear frost from windows at 30 degrees fahrenheit. Vehicle was stationary in parking lot at idle. Vehicle started to show sighs of defrost at six minute mark.vehicle was drove one mile after clearing of windows and never went above first make on engine temperature gauge.
I attempted to start my car and when i did it every light on the dash was lit up and the gear shift was stuck in park. It happened about two weeks prior and i was able to turn the car off and on a few times and it worked but this time it didn't so i had to have it towed to the dealership. When the tow truck driver came he used some sort of toll he had to unlock the gear shift which allowed it to be driveable. Of course when the dealership looked at it they were unable to duplicate the issue but they found that the ignition coil needed to be replaced and did so.
I was driving on the highway at night when the "engine has overheated" warning came on, after which i managed to make it to a local road near before the car stalled. I had it towed to a hyundai center the next day, where they told me i had a transmission fluid leak and they fixed the issue. Today, less than a week later, i was driving and about to go on the freeway when the "engine has overheated" warning came on again. I felt like it would be too dangerous to continue driving in case the car stalls again at night on a freeway, and am waiting on a response from hyundai to either fix or replace the car.

Does not heat up quickly enough in cold temps. It took 15 minutes at 38 deg fahrenheit, city driving before the temp gage showed normal operation temp.
In february 16 driving in freeway at 67 miles and the engine light come on at 10468and blinks while driving the engine loss some of power and pulled over turn off the engine and attempted to star engine and took 5 cranks to start engine next day february 17 take to dealer and the dealership tool me no faults codes in the system before toke to dealership use scanners have 2 generics codes po128 (termostart no open properly) the other code no posible yo read due to limited scanner . The dealer the dealershipthe add b 90c042r1elantra ecm software update (20-01-008h and no more details about the codes o the update in saturday's april 18 2020 at 9:10 am the engine light come on again this case no engine loss of power appears go home and recheck the codes and same codes at mileage 11539

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was still awaiting a call back from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
Car continuously says it overheating. First trip to dealership could replicate the issue. Second trip a month later. Replaced head gasket due to leak and exhaust pipe. Currently sitting in it waiting for roadside assistance. Still overheating not even a week later also now putters and shakes when i try to start it.

Got my oil changed 9/10/2020 and it has not ran every since 9/10/20 want stay running check engine light on making a loud noise i have to keep giving it gas to keepit running. So. Engineers shuts off while driving. When speeds at or over 65 in fwy steering wheel becomes unstable wheels start veers off road, have to hold tight grip onto steering wheel. When braking at sudden stops when brake the car skids. Very scary situations. Concern for my safety and safety of my children.
Car sputters at idle, acting like it's going to cut off.does not accelerate properly, but only intermittently. One day, the check engine light came on and i could not accelerate and it would sputter at lights.drove it straight to advance to get the engine light checked; nothing came up.started the car again and it drove fine, like nothing had happened.took it to the dealership the next day.they couldn't duplicate the issue.finally, after letting it idle awhile, were able to get a code on the coils.replaced them all.car was running fine after that.the sputtering at idle has now started again.....less than 2 months later.
In november 2018, i turned on my car, and the entire vehicle shook violently. I turned it back off, then on. It shook again, and the check engine line was on. I called the dealership, and they said since the light wasn't flashing, i could drive it over. Turned it on, no issues, drove over. They read the code and replaced the ignition coil. Mileage was 12,884. This morning (may 2), the car tried to turn on, but couldn't (like a dying battery). Oil, engine, and battery lights all came on. Waited a few minutes, tried again, same issue. The third time, it finally started, but shook violently for a couple seconds. No lights illuminated. Called the dealer, they said to drive it over. They are unable to replicate the problem, and said it can't possibly be the ignition coil, and can't do anything for me. The car currently has just over 15,000 miles. All maintenance has been done by the dealership per the schedule. I used the car the evening of may 1 with no issues, as well as for a 45 minute drive on april 29, so, i don't believe it's the battery, either. This is a known issue with this make/model of car. I am afraid it will break down somewhere other than my driveway and leave me stranded or in danger, such as at an intersection.
While driving the vehicle this past january, i experienced a brief ā€œclunkingā€¯ noise in the engine, and the car stalled. The check engine came on briefly and then disappeared. The code identified was a ā€œfaulty crankshaftā€¯ code. I made an appointment with the dealership to take it in to be inspected, but later that day my son was driving to pick me up from work and the vehicle literally died in the middle of an intersection. No warning, all lights came on in the vehicle, the electrical system terminated, and the vehicle died. I had to have it towed to the nearest garage, which was a pep boys, and they diagnosed the problem as an alternator and battery, serpentine also. So. 1300 dollars worth of work laterā€¦. Turns out the car has an engine issue.
I bought the car brand new with 20 miles. I am the only owner. When i bought i noticed the acceleration issue.i informed the dealer10days owning itthere is an issue on the acceleration. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 9,086.
The headlights beams hardly reach across an intersection.. They do not illuminate road signs like speed limit, and street name signs.. Its impossible to drive on rural roads that have dips in them unless your slow down to 15mph (not good when the speed limit is 45 on these roads....the headlights disappear on suburban streets as well... The first image there are two stop signs .. ..you can see the post they are on but can you see the signs ? the second image shows the beams of the car on a fence .. The car is parked 26' away from a 74" high fenceim scared to drive this vehicle at night....you cant see stop signs..you can see the legs of pedestrians but not their torsos

The rear lights, brake and tail lights , burn out frequently. Now the brake light wiring has melted. Had it repaired twice!!

The contact owns a 2018 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming excessive amounts of fuel. The contact stated that there was no evidence of a fuel leak nor an abnormal fuel odor. The contact compared the fuel consumption to a previous vehicle owned that was the same year, make, and model. The contact needed to add $10-20 daily whenever the fuel gauge showed a half tank of gasoline. The contact's one-way trip from her residence to work was 35.3 miles. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was test-driven for 7 miles and it was confirmed that the fuel gauge was providing inaccurate fuel readings. The dealer informed the contact to bring the vehicle back when the fuel gauge was empty to be able to have a code reading. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was also no code appearing on the code reader however, there was a powertrain failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,302.
Takata recall my vehicle brake got stuck while i wasdriving on the highway. The car also released a gas/oil odor when the car has been running. The car has also been having problems to start need to attempt to turn on vehicle twice before it actually starts. Brakes have malfunctioned multiple timesalready and could have caused an accident.
After a full stop and you press on the gas to move, at times there is a pause of perhaps 5 seconds before you can start to move into traffic.
When refueling the vehicle, and placing the nozzle into the gas refill port, the gas will cut off as if the tank is full. Only when the gas nozzle is inserted 3/4 of the way into the gas refill port will the gas flow uninterrupted.

I bought the car about a month ago.and today i experienced the car while driving at 55mph when i went to accelerate to go the speed limit of 65 on the major highway going into salisbury, md that the car wouldnt speed up. And about 30 seconds later the transmission seemed to have down shifted a couple gears due to the rpms going from 4600ish rpm down to 2000 rpms and than the car went back to normal. When i had gotten into salisbury and had to stop it braked just fine but when i started to drive again it start to feel like it was stalling and it's been doing it now for the whole day. As well as a burning smell which i'm 99% certain is the clutch. I have worked the automotive field for about 7 years. I have a dct transmissions 2018 hyundai elantra sport tech package. I went in the forum on facebook and some else has posted the same issues. And many other comments. I will be taking mine to the dealership after christmas is over. But i'll list screenshots below
I have a 2018 hyundai elantra having problems with my transmission. When in traffic or taking off from a stop the car shudders like a manual transmission car when you don't give it enough gas. Also the car does not want to move sometimes when you depress the gas pedal followed by sudden acceleration the car is equipped with a dual-clutch transmission which i am familiar but these are not normal characteristics of a dual-clutch transmission
2018 hyundai elantra: the car only has 21k but the radiator hose clamp cracked and the hose burst open. The car's engine overheated causing it to be inoperable. Hyundai customer service denies any faulty/manufacturer's defect as well no reported cases with this model and make. This should further be looked into as it may cause significant distress for the owner as well as endangering lives. The incident occurred driving on a freeway under normal conditions. Hyundai refuses to accept liability, even though they are required to under their powertrain warranty, stating the vehicle must be sent to their dealership only.

When accelerating after stop car lunges and then starts to move,since bought it i have told dealership several times they say nothing wrong that how it is. Also tires have all fell apart or went flat and have wire showing on inside . I feel this is safety concern and when buying a new car tires should last longer than 1 year i should not accelerationproblems either.i have some picture

I drive a lot due to commuting to and from work. Recently i have had to brake suddenly due to rapid change in flow of traffic. I had a near miss. I was 5 car lengths behind a vehicle in front of me when traffic came to a halt. I was travelling at 55mph. I had stepped on the brake as far down and hard as i could. My vehicle wouldn't stop. I had to swerve around the vehicle in front of me in order to avoid hitting them. My seat belt didn't lock and i felt as if i wasn't slowing down. The same thing happened to me while driving at a slower speed of 30 mph. I broke again hard and my car wouldn't stop.

I havemid 26k miles i checked my brake fluid and pads they are both good. The brakes for the past 3 months roughly 15k miles (i drive 5k miles a month) have been spongy and soft. Unless i hit the brakes hard they barely work. Sometimes i have. To pump my brakes 2 or 3 times to have them feel normal. I'm going to take my car to the dealership and look over the abs system and braking system since it seems very unsafe and i have a newborn. It seems like the car only does it at speeds above 25 or 30mph

Takata recall my vehicle brake got stuck while i wasdriving on the highway. The car also released a gas/oil odor when the car has been running. The car has also been having problems to start need to attempt to turn on vehicle twice before it actually starts. Brakes have malfunctioned multiple timesalready and could have caused an accident.
My hyundai elantra brake pedal flutters when i press it to stop giving off a loud noise and doesn't allow me to brake at times. I've taken it to the dealer but they say no issues have been found. Engineers shuts off while driving. When speeds at or over 65 in fwy steering wheel becomes unstable wheels start veers off road, have to hold tight grip onto steering wheel. When braking at sudden stops when brake the car skids. Very scary situations. Concern for my safety and safety of my children.

If you add wind in the equation it is a constant fight the keep the vehicle straight or in its lane. Drove 650 miles plus to get this resolved and no resolution has been met. The vehicle seems to sway and float more on paved highways, black top is a little better but still the same. I was given a loaner elantra same year and the same issue.

When on the highway, speeds of 70mph vehicle sways from left to right, hard to steer, seems worse when cement/pavement has lines in it.

When the vehicle is turning right over uneven surfaces (or bumps), the vehicle makes crunching/creaking sounds that may suggest suspension issues or fear of driving the vehicle. Dealer does not understand the issue and unable to repair. It would appear related to engine mount rubber that can reduce noise if applying lubricating sprays, but unsure if any affect to vehicle safety.

Since my car had 7,000 miles, i am experiencing a creaking sound around front wheels when turning at slow speed, more so when on uneven pavement.
With the steering wheel turned to its far right extreme, the front suspension emits a loud creaking noise when there is an incline, such as entering a parking lot entrance or driveway. This is the only time i hear the creaking noise. This concerns me because i'm afraid the noise indicates a failing or faulty suspension component, which could possibly lead to loss of vehicle control should the faulty part fail with the vehicle in motion.

Car sputters at idle, acting like it's going to cut off.does not accelerate properly, but only intermittently. One day, the check engine light came on and i could not accelerate and it would sputter at lights.drove it straight to advance to get the engine light checked; nothing came up.started the car again and it drove fine, like nothing had happened.took it to the dealership the next day.they couldn't duplicate the issue.finally, after letting it idle awhile, were able to get a code on the coils.replaced them all.car was running fine after that.the sputtering at idle has now started again.....less than 2 months later.

Heating hose assembly and upper and lower radiator hoses wore out in less than 2 years on a brand new car. I was told it was due to normal wear and tear.5 days after i had an oil change and multipoint inspection done on my car, the engine overheated while i was driving. I took it back to the dealership where i had gotten it serviced.
The blindspot monitor is not recognizing the big trucks

Driving normally at 35mpg and the service light came on and the the left rear tire started blinking even though the psi in all tires numbers were the same and normal on all four tires... Checked pressure to make sure in all tires and still keeps blinking along with the service light still on.
My multifunction switch appears to be defective. I have taken it to 2 different dealerships to be looked at. They have been unable to replicate any issues either time. Occasionally at night time the headlights will randomly turn off. This happened in auto mode as well as when it was pouring down rain and the wipers were on. The headlight indicator on the dash stays lit but the lights themselves turn off. This also happened driving to work in the early morning. When it is cold outside and also randomly the left signal indication doesnā€™t work in the lane changing function. I sometimes have to hit it 3-4 times before it decides to come on. Neither dealership i have used knows what is happening with the vehicle and i am not keen to spend $600 to have it fixed if itā€™s not going to 100% fix the issue.

These new cars do not have a manual release for the trunk anymore - making them extremely dangerous. The only way to open the trunk is by releasing the level on the very front driver's side or you must have the keys in your hand.so the car is parked and my son goes out with a friend to get a poster out of the trunk and shuts the door on his hand by accident.- or should i say the trunk came down on his hand and locked his hand inside! and now he can't open the trunk door - and neither can his friends because there is no manual release anymore!and they are all to young to know there is a release on the front driver's side. If i had not been close by - my son would have lost his little pinky finger.it was cut all the way down to the bone.when i called hyundai to let them know - the first and last response was, "ma'am, could you calm down before we continue?" i said "sure. Car has intermittent problem with acceleration. Will go into a fail safe mode, wont accelerate past 40-60 mph.i have had very close call on multiple accidents due to the fact i am unable to accelerate.my car lost power and could not pick up speed at all. When accelerating after stop car lunges and then starts to move,since bought it i have told dealership several times they say nothing wrong that how it is. Also tires have all fell apart or went flat and have wire showing on inside . Warning light for tire pressure comes on every 4 to 5 days. Tire pressure goes down, even after tires have been rotated.
The tire pressure monitoring system consistently indicates low tire pressure on 3 of the 4 wheels whether stationary of while driving at any speed. Manual checking of the tire pressure indicates the tires are at correct pressure. This problem first began while in warranty. Hyundai dealer did a repair. Next time it occurred, the car was out of warranty and dealer wanted a large amount of money to replace the sensors and monitoring system.this problem has been noted on this site for this model. I understand there's actually a recall on a similar model.please investigate.
The low tire pressure warning lights came on as i was driving down the highway and my tire pressure was displayed as 14 psi on my back left tire. I pulled over and looked at the tire and it didn't seem low. I plugged my portable tire air pump in and attached it to the tire, and the gauge on the pump said 36psi, which is what it is supposed to be at. I got back in my car and started driving, and the car said the psi was back to 36psi. Sounds like this is a common problem and hyundai needs to address it. I even took picture of the warning when it came on for proof.
I purchased a new hyundai elantra 2018 with the original tires, hankook ventus s1 noble 2.the tires are balanced, rotated, and aligned every 5,000 miles.i noticed the sidewalls have severe cracks on all 4 tires.i feel this is a huge defect and in no way normal wear and tear.i also believe it is also a huge safety issue.i took the car back to the hyundai dealership where it was purchased and was told they couldn't do anything as the tires are not under warranty.i also called the hyundai complaint department and was told the same thing.they told me that i needed to contact the tire manufacturer, hankook.i had done that twice before, and was told i needed to take the car to an authorized hankook dealer.i then took the car to a tire kingdom, an authorized hankook dealer, as recommended by hankook.the service manager looked at the tires and agreed that the cracked/splitting sidewalls were indeed a defect, called hankook himself, explained what he saw, and was told there was nothing hankook could do.the cracked sidewalls are indeed a safety issue and an accident waiting to happen.this is an issue which has occurred before with these same hankook tires (ventus s1 noble 2) on hyundai vehicles, in which a recall was issued and tires (47,000) were replaced free of charge.the recall was for tires produced between may 2013 and feb. 2015.although my tires have a different dot, it seems they have the same problem or worse.this issue needs to be investigated and the problem needs to be remedied before people get hurt or in an accident due to faulty tires.

Tire pressure sensors and/or tpms module problem. I purchased this 2018 hyundai elantra from san tan hyundai, gilbert, az 86297 in late march 2018. The tire pressure in each of the 4 tires was 36 psi, the cold tire pressure for this auto.in the first week of august 2018 the tire pressure warning light on the dashboard came on . I checked the the tire pressure in each of the 4 tires with a analog and digital tire pressure meter and the pressure in each tire was about 32 psi. I re- inflated each tire up to 36 psi (spec requirement) but the warning light stayed on. I notified hyundai headquarters customer service about the problem and they assigned a case number and suggested i take the new auto with only about 1500 miles on odometer to san tan hyundai. I had to wait about 2 weeks for a oct.18,2018 appointment. The tire warning light turned off just before my appointment, so i canceled the appointment. On 12-18-2018 the tire warning light came on and stayed on after the 4 tires were re-inflated again from 32 psi up to 39 psi. There is something wrong with hyundai's individual tire pressure sensor and/or tpms module on my new 2018 hyundai entrant. When each of the 4 tires are re-inflated to 36 psi,the dashboard tire pressure indicator light should turn off.i have made another appointment with san tan hyundai but what i here from customer service is: it may cost you dollars to fix this problem instead of indicating that it is covered under my new car warranty. This is why i am reporting my problem to nhtsa. On line reports indicate that this may also be a problem with other hyundai elantra vehicles from previous years.
