I was driving on a road at 45 mph and the car in front of me swerved so i started to swerve as well assuming that there was something in the road.he then jammed on his breaks in the swerve and so did i but i ended up hitting the back of the other car.he had a newer hyundai sonata and i had a 2015 hyundai elantra se.i think the road was slick as well as we had recently had a snowstorm that ended the day before with about a foot of snow.the damage to the other vehicle was rear bumper damage on the left side.my damage was mostly on the right side bumper of my car to the middle of my car.the radiator was pushed back into the engine.no airbags deployed at all and my chest hit the steering wheel.i was going west bound on a a two-lane road.afterwards my car obviously would not engage to drive to try and get it out of the road way.i had some whiplash and some damage to my right cheek from hitting the steering wheel.the steering wheel was still intact and none of the airbags deployed.i showed a picture to the er and they were shocked that none of the airbags deployed and the officer on the scene was equally disturbed that the airbags didn't deploy as well.i will attach a picture of the front end of my car.
Air bag deployed while driving with out impact.
I t-boned another vehicle who turned across my lane in front of me. I was driving about 30 to 35 mph and hit the other vehicle on the passenger side of the car with the front end of mine. None of my airbags deployed. I injured my neck due to that crash. Also my child and husband were injured as well. I am reporting a faulty 2015 hyundai elantra airbag. It did not deploy in my crash. We were injured in the accident.
I purchased the vehicle back in 2015. Since then, i have taken my car to be serviced because my airbag light keeps coming on. My airbag has not had any major accidents.this has occurred at least 4 times since i purchased the vehicle. Every time i get the problem fixed, the light comes back on after a few months. I have complained about this to the services center each time and it seems as if the issue with the airbag light is not being resolved. Also, i received something in the mail regarding the airbags in my vehicle which heightens my concern about the airbags since i was having this issue before receiving this notice. The most recent incident happened about a week ago.
I was in a car accident where i was moving at about 2-5mph turning left and struck directly on the driver side door, the vehicle that struck me was going about 40mph and was traveling straight on the road. Both vehicles were towed away from the scene. None of my air bags, even the driver door air bags designed to go off in this type of accident were deployed. I smashed the left side of my head into the window of my car , a cut across my left clavicle, received facial bruising, a concussion, and am having ongoing medical issues related to whiplash and the displacement of my neck spine and shoulders. I also had a passenger in my vehicle who is also having on going medical issues. The driver door on this car was completely caved in and would not open, and there was damage to the back door on the driver side also. The airbags not being deployed when they are supposed to is a safety hazard to the driver and passengers in this car. Over $7500 of damages were made to this 2015 hyundai elantra.
Moving slowly to right lane & airbag deployed.
On nov 8th 2019 i was t-boned on my front driver side, by a driver that ran their red traffic light. My light was green and i was in motion through the intersection. My airbags did not deploy during the time of impact. I had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance because of injuries. As i read complaints though,i see people airbags are deploying without impact.

I was in an accident today. I was hit by a transport truck on the highway doing at least 60 miles per hour. I was hit 3 times, twice on the drivers side (door and back tire area) then car was spun around and hit head on. The car had to be dragged if the highway, everything under the hood was on the road and windshield cracked. The hood was lifted right up at windshield.i am more than concerned the the airbags did not deploy. Why did our airbags not deploy??? after spinning across highway and coming to a stop facing on coming traffic. We were appalled and very scared. Why didn't that safety feature help keep us safe?
I was involved in an auto accident at the intersection of j money and pass road in biloxi, ms. On 10/15/2015. I was travelling on pass road approaching a signal light, going about 30 mph,i noticed it changed to green and i accelerated; a car pulled in front of my car and i hit it broadside on the drivers side going about 35-40 mph. I was alone the other driver had a friend/witness claimed i ran the red lite..no citations were given. No airbags deployed....i was injured had a bleeding subdural hematoma, hospitalized, hit my face loosened and later my frontal dental bridge broke of requiring implants. I suffered additional damage to my shoulder, strained ligaments, damage to my rotator cup. Under going therapy. Suffering from memory loss, imbalanced walking, headaches.repair shop owner marvelled that the airbags hadn't deployed based on the amount of damage to the front end of the car; noted on his invoice that the airbags had not deployed. Hyundai denies that the airbag system is faulty after they download the computer; am attaching their letter of denial, along with pictures showing damage to the car...updated 03/22/16
Passenger side airbags deployed causing major injuries to the driver. Driver side and steering wheel airbags did not deploy. Right side of the drivers body (passenger side) was severely injured causingbroken ribs a punctured lung and punctured heart left side injury to head from impact.
Coming out of left hand turn, air bag deployed, causing cuts & chaffs on both arms and causing me to hit a concrete medium blowing out 3 tires.
I stopped at a light and went to move up a few feet. I touched the gas petal and the car flew into the truck in front of me. Airbag did not deploy with this front end collision. I was on a 4 lane divided highway in 5 o'clock traffic. No rain. I am unsure if it was the gas petal or something to do with the gas line itself

I was on the way to take my daughter to her sister's house, and the vehicle stalled while we were stopped because of traffic on the freeway. So, i had to put it in park or neutral, and turnover the car once i turned it off for a moment.
Electric problem : when car cools off ,sitsin hard rain for numerous hours or overnight ,there is a problem after restarting. Neither the headlights nor windshield wipers or air blower worksuntil the car is fully warmed up and driven for about half an hour all are ongoing.suspension problem :a while back there was a recall about a front spring, no details, including 2015 hyundai elantra'swhen the car sits overnight, is started, it will emit a creaking / rattling sound from the front , traveling over a series of bumps , then disappears .
The contact owns a 2015 hyundai elantra. While driving 60 mph, the check engine warning indicator started to flicker and the vehicle stalled. We have had problems with this car for years now. 2 of the issues the dealership could not even fix the problem. On 11/15/2016 with 12185 miles on the car, we had to replace the battery on the car. On 05/22/2017 with 15516 miles on the car, we had to replace (2) tires on the car because the tires were bald. On 11/03/2017 with 18268 on the car, we had to replace the other (2) tires on the car because the tires were bald.we had problem with the car stalling. The dealership could not find anything wrong with the car.on 01/18/2018 with 20747 miles on the car. We had a problem with a sound when the car starts. When the car starts it sounds like metal clinking. It does not matter if the car is cold in the morning or anytime of the day. When i start the car, it makes this sound. I had to tape the sound so the service advisor could hear the sound. The tech could not hear it. 02/08/2018 with 20749 miles on the car. We still had the problem with a sound when the car started. When the car starts it sounds like metal clinking.the dealership kept the car overnight. The next day the tech did hear the sound. They tested the alternator and it was bad. They had to replace the alternator on the car. After the dealership replaced the alternator i still had the same sound as before. The replacement of the alternator did not stop the sound. 03/20/2018 with 20802 miles on the car. We are still having the same sound when the car is started. It does not matter what time of the day the car is started, the same sound happens. It sounds like a metal clinking. I had a tape of the sound, the tech did not hear a thing. We are still having the same issue with the sound when the car starts. I am scared to start the car because the dealership can not find out what is wrong with it. I am scared it might blow up when the car starts because of this issue.
I purchased a 2015 hyundai elantra on november 26th, 2014. The car was brand new when i purchased it. On december 23rd i noticed that my brake lights would not turn off after having parked and removed the key. I was unable to get the light to turn off, but i had a trip scheduled to visit family during the holidays. I was forced to leave the car at my house in its present state. When i reached my destination on december 24th i called hyundai (lithia springs) to tell them about the issues and to ask them how they wanted to handle this issue. The service representative told me to bring the car in on january 3rd. When i returned to georgia i brought the car to hyundai. While driving the vehicle i could smell a strong odor reminiscent of spoiled milk. When i arrived at the dealership they examined the car and initially told me that the issue was with the brake clutch not depressing properly. After the technician replaced this part he returned to tell methat he was unable to correct the issue and that he suspected it to be an electrical issue. He requested that i leave the car with him so that it could be worked on and placed me in a loaner vehicle. I received a call today (january 6th, 2015) and was told that the issue had been isolated and that the car was not sealed properly and water had caused the electrical issues i was having. [xxx]. Told me that the car would need to have the windshield removed, carpet removed, dried, and resealed. I expressed my concern with this and let him know that i wanted the car replaced immediately, to which he did not reply. He told me that hyundai manufacturing would most likely not replace my brand new vehicle and that all he could do was try to fix the issues. I am truly unhappy and want my money back or a brand new car. I haven't even driven this car 1,000 miles and not only am i without a car.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I was returning home this afternoon and my wife's hyundai elantra was parked in the driveway with the brake lights lit. I figured my wife had left her lights on and looked in the car to see they were off. I started the car and pressed the brake a few times but the lights remained on so i thought the switch had gone bad. My wife watched as i pressed the brake pedal switch manually and the switch worked but the pedal did not come far enough back to depress the switch and i saw online that a pad was supposed to be present but was missing.i found recalls for the past few years mentioning an issue with pad deterioration and figure this is something that might be happening to this model as well.
When my turning light signal light comes on it i'm thinking it time to change the light i did that and the light stays on. Now i realize this the same problem i had last year with my car and they said it's a electrical problem now it's doing it again. Now both of my turning signal light are not working when the lights are on. But once the lights go off the turning signal works again.
I began my lease on my elantra in sept of 2014. At my year anniversary i had it serviced by the dealer of the lease and was given a clean bill of car health. However, on several occasions the car had, as i called it, "a mind of its own" meaning that while i was driving, usually somewhere around 40-55 mph without me pushing down on the gas pedal the car would accelerate on its own. It would stop as soon as i completely let off the gas pedal but it happened enough to be considered strange. I was planning to ask the dealer about it at my next oil change. Not necessary now! sunday afternoon 10/18/15, i went to start the car and it sputtered and stalled out. I turned the key in the ignition again and it repeated. After the 3rd time and giving it some gas the car started and ran ok. I had 3 stops that i made, each time the car was turned off and back on with no issue. I returned home and not even 5 minutes after the car was parked and shut off, there were flames shooting out between the hood and windshield. I hit the fire emergency on my house alarm system to signal for the fire dept and then ran outside with my husband and 2 fire extinguishers, emptying one and having zero effect on the fire. My husband then turned the hose on and was trying to contain the fire with the hose water. In the 10 minutes it took for the fire dept to get there, the entire front end was literally a shell of remaining metal and dripping melted plastic. The entire windsheild exploded from the heat of the fire and was inside the car. Insurance inspector says the source came from behind the battery - which he said was either the electric or computer panel. Either way.. It was a scary situation. 10 minutes is not a very long time to have the entire front end disintegrate from fire
The electronic stability control (esc) warning light came on and i brought the car in for servicing. The hyundai service department said that it was related to the brakes. When i was ready to pick up the vehicle, the dealership called me and said the brake relay (which caused the problem and needed to be replaced) caused the brake lights to short and now i have to get them replaced as well.
I bought my 2015 hyundai elantra from the carmax in oak lawn illinois in september of 2018 and since then i've experienced a few problems with the vehicle and carmax is only telling me that it was a plastic bag on the exhaust pipe and that it will burn off on its own. I took the car into them on april 17, 2019 and today is may 14, 2019 and i'm almost positive that it doesn't take a whole month for a bag to burn off an exhaust pipe. Also i have a complaint about my brake system, when i brake the car acts like it's stalling and it makes a clicking noise as if the car is on ice and the extra brake is helping the vehicle to stop. I know this isn't supposed to happen this way. I have 3 children that travel in this vehicle everyday and i can't drive a faulty vehicle and something happens to them while driving it.
The contact owns a 2015 hyundai elantra. While the vehicle was being serviced, the contact was informed by the mechanic that there were metal shavings in the engine oil. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer (stew hansen hyundai, 11344 hickman rd, clive, ia 50325, (515) 253-3000) was contacted and an appointment was scheduled to replace the engine short block. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.
2015 hyundai elantra. Consumer writes in regards to engine failure. *ld
The contact owns a 2015 hyundai elantra. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and there was an abnormal amount of smoke coming from the exhaust tip. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer sansone hyundai (90-100 us-1, avenel, nj 07001, (888) 566-5311) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that failure was due to oil deposits blocking the valves. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
When i try to accelerate quickly, especially if the engine is still cold, i will suddenly not be able to accelerate even though the engine and vehicle is still running. Then when i slow down the vehicle begins to shake like it's almost going to die altogether. Then if i try to accelerate again, it's almost like there is no power to drive,or the engine completely stalls, and the check engine light begins to flash and the oil pressure light comes on. The only way then to be able to keep driving is if i completely stop the vehicle and turn the ignition completely off and wait a few minutes and then it will usually take 3-5 tries to get the car to start again. This happens nearly 1-3 times a week, and the dealership says that it's not related to the engine recall that they issued, even though it appears to be the same exact issues that is affecting the other vehicles. There have been at least 20 occasions where i was trying to merge onto a highway and then my vehicle dies or loses power and this is a huge safety concern of mine.
Its a loud crackling ticking noise that comes from my 2015 hyundai elantras engine. When i drive the the ticking turns into knocking and the car shuts off completely in motion. I have looked online to see what this issue could be. I've read countless statements about this issue. Hyundai needs to step up to the plate and acknowledge this is a urgent manufacturing issue that needs to fixed immediately.
While driving my 2015 hyundai elantra it started making a rattling noise from the area around the engine. This noise eventually grew to a loud knocking noise. The knocking noise continued and i began to feel it vibrating in my steering wheel. I took my car to my local hyundai dealership in grand junction, co to have it looked at. The service technician came out and as soon as i described it he said he knew exactly what the problem was because they have been receiving a lot of complaints about it. After turning the vehicle on and inspecting it he assured me that the connection rods and bearings were going out and that i needed to replace my engine that had 50,000 miles on it. I was also given the option to only replace the lower half of my engine for half the price but that price would possibly even out to an entire engine replacement because the cost of labor would go up.i decided to research this issue further and have found that recalls have been issued for several other vehicles with the same engine and issue but my vehicle has yet to be part of the recall. This has been a major inconvenience for my family and i as i have not used this vehicle since may 2020 and have been told by hyundai that even though this is a common issue there is nothing that can or will do to help me because it has not been recalled for my vehicle.
Car cut off. Was no longer drivable. Had to get it towed to the dealership only to be told that i need a new engine. My car is a 2015 and only has 74,000 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2015 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently and would stall. The failure left the contact stranded on numerous occasions. Walser hyundai (8100 lakeland ave n, brooklyn park, mn 55445, (651) 705-0151) was notified and replaced the engine assembly, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission and engine assemblies needed to be replaced. The contact asked for the manufacturer to buy back the vehicle. The manufacturer refused and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.
Seeking to accelerate as i merged onto a highway, vehicle rpm exceeded 6,000 without acceleration.depressed accelerator, tried again and the engine backfired.result: blown head gasket on vehicle with only 62,000 km.i changed the oil every 8,500 km and hyundai is debating the warranty.
The engine on my car stalled while driving on the highway. I was able to pull over and get it started again. I turned around to go back home and it started knocking and stalled again. After that, it would not start again. I had it towed to a repair shop who said the engine was seized. They were able to get it started again but it was knocking loudly. I ended up having to replace the engine which cost close to $6000 for a used engine. I had close to 127,000 miles on the car (i drive 100 miles per day for work) and hyundai would not help since i am out of the warranty mileage.
Engine started making a ticking noise with no indication of a problem.ran fine and no check engine light.took vehicle to dealer and they found metal shavings in oil, caused from either a bad main or rod bearing.car had 37,000 miles and the oil was changed every 3,000 miles.
My elantra 2015 ( 70 k) shut off while driving
I noticed a slight ticking sound at around 63,000 miles in my 2015 hyundai elantra while my car was idling. I had the vehicle diagnosed by an ase certified mechanic. They determined a knocking/pinging in the area of cylinder number one on the passenger side of the vehicle. Oil has always been changed around 3,000 miles. The sounds has progressively gotten worse and has become a loud knocking sound with loss of power. The vehicle has about 70,000 miles on it now and the engine is starting to fail more. The loud knocking sound is constant from idle through acceleration. I was curious if other people had this same issue so i did some research. Many cars with the same make and model were recalled for the same issue i'm having. Im afraid the engine is going to seize soon while driving and i'm concerned for my safety. I do not know what to do with this problem now. I don't think a car should be doing this at 70,000 miles
The vehicle engine started knocking around 80,000 miles. At 101000 miles the engine had a catastrophic failure. The vehicle had terrible loud knocking and crunching noises with very little power. This happened on the interstate going 70mph. The knocking issue had been brought up several times to allen turner hyundai in pensacola, fl and ignores. The service staff told me it was because i was not getting the oil changed (i stopped going to them because of their terrible customer service). Once i produced receipts proving them wrong they said that i wasn't getting it changed often enough even though i got it changed according to the time frame they told and what was stated in the owners manual. They eventually agreed to fix it for $500 after having to get loud and obnoxious with everyone up to the general manager. It was one of the most stressful situations i've ever had. The vehicle still had $10,000 owed on the loan. Even after the issue was corrected the car never got back to working well at all. To get rid of it i had to lease a vehicle for nearly $600 a month to rid myself of the negative equity. Buyer beware
2015 elantra-engine knock/ticking on startup. Currently with every start. Vehicle has 53000 miles. Quiets down slightly when normal operating temp is reached. More pronounced upon acceleration and less when coasting.
My engine began making a clicking noise in january 2019. I didn't think much of it. Then the check engine light, the oil pressure light and the battery light all would start flashing when i was driving and my engine would die. I took it to my car dealership, who said they couldn't tell me what was wrong with it, but that it was covered under my warranty so they are replacing it. I have looked online and noticed many other people with the same problem. I don't know much about cars but i do know that an engine totally dying at 58,000 is not good. They did mention that they would check the oil for metal shavings. I looked that up online, which happens when an engine is poorly made and the motors are scraping against each other, producing metal shavings, which then go through the entire engine through the oil. Every time the engine died i was driving on a side street, going about 30 mph.
The contact owns a 2015 hyundai elantra. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the engine and noticed an oil leak. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer and the manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 55,103.
Car stalls when ever idling or coming to a stop.
Engine began knocking at very low mileage. Knock was apparent while stationary, driving, accelerating. Engine replaced under warranty, no questions asked. If engine had failed during operation it would have created a dangerous driving situation.
Vehicle was making a "ticking" sound.gets louder as you accelerate.took vehicle to mechanic - advised pistons/engine are causing sound to contact hyundai dealer as there has been many issues with the cars engines.can drive the car at this time, waiting on dealer to respond and hope engine doesn't blow up on me.car only has 55,000 miles.
Car stalls when stopping or idling if you do not keep your feet on the gas.it does not happen in the first 10 mins of warming up the car but then happens for the remaining time.i have had a tune up, throttle body serviced, crankshaft sensor replaced, and fuel pump replaced.i have been trying to get this fixed for the last 3 years and nothing has helped.
High oil pressure caused oil filter to fail
Engine had a clicking noise, car died while driving. Brakes and steering wheel did not operate. Car rolled until it got slow enough to pull the emergency brake.
Starting a couple of weeks ago, my vehicle has been making a rattling noise while in park and while in drive (especially with accelerating). No check engine light. I took my vehicle to get serviced and was told there are metallic shavings in the oil to support that there is lower engine failure (crankshaft with too much clearance) and that i need a new engine. I went to other auto shops and was told the same thing. The vehicle only has 76,000 miles and has received regular maintenance with oil changes every 5,000 miles.
Car used to run well, but last week started to make a very lousy noise from the engine , i dont feel safe to use it anymore ,also the car dont have the same push to make it run i have to push the pedal almost completely but still it dont .it dont work as it used to be
I was in motion on numerous occasions driving on highway and city streets and the vehicle would make an awful ticking and grinding noise and then stall. I lose steering and brakes and have been in too many close accidents due to this. I have kids and this is not safe. I took it to the dealership where i bought the car and they could not find anything wrong with it. There are no dash indicators on nor any codes coming up when scanned. I read about this from other people. Something needs to be done. The scariest time was when i was going down a steep hill, cars in front and back of me. My car stalled and with no power steering and no brakes i barely managed to swerve around the car in front, dodge the oncoming car in other lane, i then had to go into an intersection praying to god that no other cars were coming thru at the same time and then managed to pull over. Did i mention my kids were in the car!!!! please recall these cars for stalling before someone gets killed! it is very dangerous.
Car is stalling and engine turns off when driving at low speeds heavy traffic. Have to put car in park and restart. All indicators on dash turn on suddenly and engine shuts off. This has occurred repeatidly whenever i am in traffic on the freeway
Car burns oil which has now destroyed catalytic converter. Dealer refuses to correct
Very loud ticking noise from engine.would not stop when car was warmed up as i was originally told by the dealer in the fall or 2018.continually got louder and louder and i knew it was not right.took to dealer have been told needs a brand new engine.faulty pistons.

I purchased this vehicle with approximately 35000 miles on it, and since that time, on multiple occasions, while trying to accelerate, there is a brief lack of response from the vehicle. When attempting to get up to speed when merging onto the highway, or even when taking off from a stop light, the vehicle will begin rolling, and when i push on the gas pedal there is a 2-3 second hesitation from the accelerator. This only happens once in a while. Due to it not happening every time, it is hard to duplicate at the mechanic shop for testing.

We are still having the same issue with the sound when the car starts. I am scared to start the car because the dealership can not find out what is wrong with it. I am scared it might blow up when the car starts because of this issue.
My 2015 elantra started to make a ticking noise while parked and while accelerating at 50,000 miles. There was no noticeable change in driving performance and no dashboard lights turned on. Within a week i brought it to a hyundai dealer for an oil change and to diagnose the noise. I was told the oil had metal shavings in it and the engine needed to be replaced. I have had regular maintenance and oil changes prior to this.
One morning i started my car like any normal day and there was a ticking sound. It was cold out that morning so i didn't think much of it but i took it to get its oil changed the next day and thats they told me that it was something internal and i should take it to a dealer. I took it to a dealer and they told me that there was an engine knock and that the only way to fix it was to basically get a new engine.
The contact owns a 2015 hyundai elantra. While driving various speeds, the contact heard abnormal noises coming from the engine compartment. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Billion auto hyundai (3401 w 41st st, sioux falls, sd 57106) diagnosed that the engine needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,000. The vin was not available.
I have a 2015 elantra that developed an engine noise at 135,000 miles. As i was driving on the highway, at a speed of 65, the engine became extremely loud. I pulled over to check my vehicle. I pulled out the dipstick and it had metal shavings in the oil. The car lost all ability to move. The gas pedal did not work and the vehicle would rev on its own. I had it towed to a hyaundai dealership. They said the vehicle only had 1 quart of oil. The issue with that, is my low oil light never came on in the vehicle. The dealership ran the codes, and it showed nothing on the scanner.
2015 hyundai elantra with 43,000 miles on it. The car vibrates and shakes while in the drive or reverse when stopped with the driver's foot on the brake.the vibration and shaking vary in intensity.i brought the car to the dealer and they said the throttle body needed to be cleaned due to rough idle.i had the service performed and it has not solved the problem. This is an issue that hyundia needs to address.
The contact owns a 2015 hyundai elantra. While driving 50 mph or less, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted, but the failure recurred often. The contact also stated that the rpms idled high and low at times. The vehicle was in the shop several times for this failure. The vehicle was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 200.
We just bought the car two months ago from a used car dealership. My son was driving when all of a sudden all of the dash lights flashed on the car and the car stopped in the middle of the road. We had it towed to a car dealership nearby and they looked at the engine and said that the engine locked. Also, when you open up the hood of the car there's also oil on the inside of the hood of the car.
There's a knocking ,tapping coming from motor, i was crossing intersection across a highway my vehicle stalled a bit thought it was going to die. I recently found out there was a claim out that the motors were defective as far as pistons tapping , losing power. I have contacted all i could all same same thing , sorry your warranty is expired.i have kept up with oil changes and maintenance car only had roughly 4,000 miles on it. The extended warranty does not cover miles over 10000(if your a second owner )or 140000 if your original owner. I bought my car from enterprise car dealerships they bought it from hyundai. My issue is i was not told about a faulty engine until it was to late. And that wasn't even from hyundai or dealership. It was from the class action lawsuit paper. The repairs or replacement of motor hyundai is offering excludes people like me that had no idea and have exceeded miles of their original 100000 mile warranty. People like me that had and have no clue about the issues with motor are at risk for stalling or whatever else because we were not notified about problems. I'm thankful my car didn't die on crossing highway/ interstate with traffic . My problems with motor that they knew was faulty just started at 127,000 miles or so. People need to be aware of these issues, hyundai i feel are trying to cover up or refuse a recall to save them money.
The contact owns a 2015 hyundai elantra. While driving in a rural area, the headlamps failed to offer adequate visibility.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the headlamps met the manufacturer alignment standards. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.udated 08/02/16*lj
I just need check car abs oil
Vehicle was brought to a stop with foot still depressing brake peddle. Brakes released and car surged forward hitting the vehicle in front. The vehicle was completely stopped before lunging forward on southboud exit 185 of i95 in bangor maine04401
I was on the way to take my daughter to her sister's house, and the vehicle stalled while we were stopped because of traffic on the freeway. So, i had to put it in park or neutral, and turnover the car once i turned it off for a moment.

Seized rear brake caliper.started vehicle, brakes remained engaged after releasing parking brake.caliper suddenly released after application of accelerator.

The car was on highway and as i was getting off the car would not stop and in fact as i tried to press the brakes to stop the car would not stop until it crashed,
Small connecter, between the brakes and the break light switch indicator, made of plastic wore away. Resulted in the breaks going all the way and causing the break lights to stay on, even when car is off.
"takata recall".notice when pressing the breaks and hitting a bump in the road or man hole cover the brakes seem to release and skip forward losing control to some degree.i thought that it would be fix after installing brake pads and rotors but it still continues.i'm concerned what might happen during the winter in icey road or snow covered road conditions.
I was on the beltway and the car in front of me was braking and i pressed my brakes to the floor and upon impact it was still rolling. We pulled over and i was unable to stop the car. I had to pull up the emergency brake to finally stop the vehicle.
I have repeatedly experienced sticking calipers (evidenced by parking break not disengaging at 20,000 miles and again at 38,000) and extreme wearing of the rotors.front rotors required replacement at 20,000 miles, 39,000 miles.rear rotors required resurfacing at 20,000 miles, 39,000 miles.rear and front rotors required replacement at 65,000 miles.experience shuddering while braking at highway speeds due to rotord.
I was on a city street and a driver behind me informed me that my brake lights did not illuminate. I checked at home and they did not light up when the brake pedal was depressed.the stop lamp switch in the vehicle is malfunctioning.

The steering system develops a sticky/dead zone that feels like a notch in the steering, resulting in the inability to keep the car straight on the highway.it requires a bit of force to make micro corrections or to get past that hard resistance.impossible to keep the car straight on the highway.
While driving with my daughter back to college this january (2020) my husband and i both noticed that the steering on her 2015 elantra was sticking.we only noticed it at highway speeds.it seemed to be fine at lower speeds and while we were driving in town once we got to her school.but it was really bad on the highway, especially once the car had been driven for 10 minutes or so.it would drive straight, but as soon as there was any kind of gradual curve in the road it would stick in the straight position and need extra force to turn the steering wheel to follow the road.that would result in over turning that needed correcting back.this seems very dangerous.i cannot believe with the other complaints i have seen online that this issue does not at least have a service bulletin attached to it.
The contact owns a 2015 hyundai elantra. When driving over an uneven road surface at various speeds, the rear end of the vehicle swayed back and forth. The steering wheel was extremely difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on three occasions where the failure was unable to be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100.updated 5/12/15
Steering wheel has what feels like a notch in it. It sits right where you have to adjust the steering as you drive. You have to constantly compensate for this. I took my car to the dealer they reset something but it is back again.
While driving on the highway approximately 68 miles per hour i noticed an odd skipping in the steering. Eventually the power steering was gone and a steering warning light as well as the traction control warning light came on. We drove to a gas station, turned it off and when it was restarted, the power steering returned. The skipping continued and we have had 2 more instances of the power steering going out, both times at slow speeds which made it incredibly difficult to steer. I called hyundai and they explained that i need to take the car to get looked at by a certified hyundai service technician.when i reached out to them, they explained that i am responsible for the diagnostic payment as well as any repair costs since my warranty just expired and there are no recalls for this issue on this model.
The steering column have unusual overheat, they begin to warm, at 30 minutes of normal driving , the column have 122 fahrenheit degrees, in the interior, exactly in the legs, its risky to my health pleasecheck it, the dealer, replace the steering column , but the fault remains.
While driving in heavy traffic my electric power steering suddenly stopped working almost causing an accident.
Hello purchased 2015 elantra used with 29,000 miles had steering issues along with bad tires,we experience a situation in the steering like the car cannot drive straight without making constant left or rightadjustments in the wheel to keep in the lane, almost like a bicycle chain slipping on the sprocket as an example, we did take in for vehicle inspection 3 times, they said nothing wrong first time and just tightened steering column, still was faulty, so scheduled another appointment, this time a 4 wheel alignment and new tires would solve this issue, did put 4 new tires and skipped the alignment and had called hyundai motor america corporate, they called service manager of car dealership directly to do complete vehicle inspection, nothing was wrong according to the master technician, so evidently it was going to be faulty and it is still having steering issue, as it is the design of the car for this year as mentioned by service manager.the corporate person i contacted is very seriously concerned about the safety of the vehicle, but dealership is de sensitized i think to the situation, this is my last attempt for possible consideration, along with filing a complaint with the ftc with the issue and sales never provided the monroney window sticker, i have no comparison of the window sticker quoted sales price versus contract sales price and optional and standard equipment. As this issue is serious in my concern is driving on the highway with this situation, we do notice as well driving in town, at the present time we have to much invested in the car otherwise would trade for a newer model of the car as we did rent the 2017 elantra se model and this issue is not apparent in the new vehicle, a noticeable difference can be felt in the newer car. Perhaps something in the steering in the 2015 is faulty or just wears out prematurely, thanks for accepting this complaint
I have been having an issue with trying to keep the car driving straight down the highway.at "in town speeds" it seems fine.it feels as if the steering wheel gets stuck in place or locked up.the car wants to always go either left or right, whichever way the steering wheel was turned to slightly.i thought that it may be the tires so i had them rotated, no change.i bought new tires, still no change.i had the alignment checked and all steering and suspension items visually inspected and all was fine.it has been getting worse over the past couple of weeks, and now is to the point where i'm afraid to drive it.i did a google search today to see if others had run into this issue for a possible solution.wow was i surprised to see how many others have had this exact same issue.i then came to your site and entered my vin and found that there were no open recalls for this issue.as i was reading on i found where to enter a complaint here so i am doing so in hopes to have a recall for the problem that many are having.
The car sways back and forth when driving at highway speeds. Tires and alignment, were checked and everything is good. Can not stay in a straight line for very long. Switched from comfort, sport, normal and no difference. If there is little wind out the car gets even worse and does not stay straight. No one at the dealership can explain and seems they don't care.
My elantra 2015 ( 70 k) shut off while driving
On a recenttrip at highway speeds i noticed a binding in the steering wheel.when trying to make corrections to the vehicle tracking the steering wheel took excessive force to make theses corrections.this excessive force occurs at highway speeds exclusively.the steering in normal in take off and city driving conditions.
On the evening of 4/7/2015 i rented a 2015 hyundai elantra from enterprise. The next evening, 4/8/2015 at about 10:30pm, i was driving out of the rv park where we were staying. I was driving about 15 mph and had just driven over a small bridge that had a very slight bump at the end before the road curved slightly to the right. As i went over the bump the steering wheel locked up and i found myself heading straight into the wooden wall along the right side of the road. I could not get the steering wheel to turn to the left, away from the wall, and crashed through it. Luckily, because i was going so slow, i did not wind up going into the concrete and steel retainer wall behind the wooden wall, and no one was hurt. The front of the car and the wooden wall, however, were badly damaged. The tow truck driver also had problems getting the steering to respond when he was backing the car out of the wall. It finally unlocked after he kept at it for a few minutes.
When vehicle is traveling at highway speeds above 40 mph the steering sticks at center position. Need to over steer to get vehicle back into a straight line on highway. Told the dealership and they brushed it off as a no defect. This problem is more than just a nuisance especially driving on snow and ice. Definitely a major safety concern and should be addressed asap. Problem seems to get worse as the engine warms up. Possible steering control module failure, unknown at this time.
This is our second new hyundai elantra, model year 2015. After about 16,000 miles, we noticed a "glitch" that seemed to be occurring at higher, but modest speeds (40-65 mph). The smooth steering-wheel range of motion that we are normally used to seemed to change at road speeds, exhibiting a point where minor l-r steering-wheel adjustments were stiff, almost like a "detent" in a normal smooth range ofmotion. Researching this behavior, i also found comments on the net that were described as "sticky" steering with 2012 model elantras...seemed like a good descriptive term.the problem was not solved by an wheel alignment last week, but a re-visit to the dealer today and discussion with their service manager, suggested that there may be a steering assist-pump servo issue which has been known to be associated with the symptoms. There was a discussion with the svc manger of a replacement of the steering column assembly. I would like to believe that that action will solve the matter.
Steering binds at highway speeds requiring extra effort to move steering wheel. This added effort results in over compensation once binding is overcome. This is experienced while adjusting to maintain forward direction, as well as turning. It is not quite as noticeable at lower speeds. This has been an ongoing problem since car was purchased new.
Paint is peeling, first time was on the front roof and the most recent was on the top of the decklid see photo attached. Local dealer is unsure if it falls under warranty so i had to take it to a paintshop outside the dealer to get it repaint. The paint repair technician said that happens when sheetmetal gets contaminated prior to getting painted.see photo attached. Vehicle was stationary when paint peeled off. It starts like a blister then peels off.
When i try to close the sunroof it will not close. I have to try it 3 to 4 times until it finally closes.
2015 hyundai elantra limited (i bought new-only owner). Color is pearl white and the paint is peeling off on hood and roof. The car looks terrible. I have a 1996 mazda proteje and a 2005 honda crv and they both looks better than my 2015 hyundai. Very upset with hyundai there needs to be a recall on the paint.
On sunday, april 15, 2018, i was preparing ti make a right turn on merrimac ave in norfolk va, on my way to church,, when i heard a loud screeching noise and loss of steering. A car with no occupant was sitting to car spaces from the corner and my car struck the car. I got out of my car and saw my right front wheel laying on the ground and my right front fender was smashed. I calledthe police and aaa. When triple aaa arrived the driver said that my axle was bent. My air back did notimplod. The police came andso summons was given, just a repotr that it was a non-reportable accident. My car has been in a collision shop since that day. The shop called and said there would be a delay because the axle the manufacture sent was damaged!!the shop had to order another axle . I went on line to determine if this model has had other report of axle and suspension defects and therewas one report that was exactly the same as mine. Is it possible that this model may be a defected ? i did not take any pictures i had lost my cell phone
I'm writing to inform you that the sunroof exploded i was driving back from seattle, wa to bellevue, wa today after dropping off a friend. I was somewhere on i-90 eastbound in between w mercer way and the i-405 interchange when i heard a loud sound above my head that sounded like an explosion on the roof of my car. Not wanting to stop on the freeway, i came home and stopped the car. After getting out, i noticed that the sunroof on the glass was shattered and there was a big hole in it. Bits of broken glass all over the top of the sliding interior cover on the sunroof. Luckily the cover was closed or the glass would have fallen on me as i was driving.i was very tired after my trip, so i went to sleep and took photos in the evening. I have tried my best to show how the glass has exploded upward from the roof of the car. This shows that it was not due to a stone or other projectile landing on the sunroof, as that would have led to the glass being pushed in near the center of the impact.after doing a little research on the internet, i noticed that there were other reports of sunroofs exploding spontaneously. I saw that hyundai and kia automobiles had many reports of this, and decided to report this to you.i have attached a picture of the damage and shared more pictures here:https://1drv.ms/f/s!aqd1r2wkhcn6ikunuvi3nvnrmwnghw

I feel thatthis car may be , though repaired may be unsafe( the suspension was damaged also i have a copy of the police report and the copy of the repair wok=rk done which took over 20 days. Am i safe in this car? i do not know how to upload , so i am going to send this report in the mail to you. I had sent a report earlier , but my computer crashed and have not been to use it to send another form ,. Should i contact hyundai? i do not know what to do! i am sending this report again because i lost all of my emails

I went on line to determine if this model has had other report of axle and suspension defects and therewas one report that was exactly the same as mine. Is it possible that this model may be a defected ? i did not take any pictures i had lost my cell phone
Issue began 12mo w 2 new cars.non adjustable rear suspension determined thru md-bbb hearing to be fault of poor handling and excessive tire wear.determinedby bbb to be caused by bent suspension parts.owner was found not negligent for for parts bending implying that normal driving dynamic forces are causing parts to warp.due to an inability to diagnose root cause for warped parts - no one wants to assess the issue to that extent - toe/camber settings can as suggested by hyundai corporate warp at will.issue is this dynamic condition causing a 'self steering' condition with either toe/camper/both.hyundai wants owner to pay them to have their design mistake go away and this issue go away - which seems strange in and of itself.if hyundai takes this vehicle they might conceal it from nhtsa investigation.i have to begin final negotiations with them by nov 17th.no one wishes to investigate why parts are bending.does nhtsa want to wait for someone to have a significant accident before being concerned.the bbb of md and hyundai corporate are definitely not concerned.

Don't buy hyundai car. I was so proud of being hyundai car owner who have two hyundai vehicles. However, i started to dislike hyundai. The reason is the navigating system that i got into. It pointed wrong location while i am driving to go to golf course where i did not know how to get there. I got panic in the freeway. What if it was night time in the middle of freeway? what if i was driving for the very important meeting? i could stop on the rail road or the dangerous place. Even more i had to drive one hand because i had to use one hand holding the handphone with map app directing me to the place. I had to stop in the side road of freeway. It was so dangerous. 2015 year elantra which is kind brand new. Dealer said no warranty, hyundai america said no warranty or recall. I found many owners of hyundai vehecle drivers having the same problem like me.however, there is no responsiblity from hyundai. Just pay and fix in the dealer. They should cover this by recalling. It is very dangerous. It may be more dangerous than broken break.don't buy hyundai they are not responsible manufacturer. They should go out of u.s.a if they do not do anything for this problem.
The hyundai elantra was stationary and hooked up to jumper cables to jump a dead car. The elantra was running to allow the other car to charge. The fuse box on the elantra caught fire which spread to the jumper cables and to the other car. There was much more damage to the interior of the elantra than there was to the other car, which only had minor cosmetic burning. The fire started in the elantra and the damage has not yet been assessed.
Hyundai elentra sunroof recall. My sunroof exploded and hyundai refuses to acknowledge the issue or do the repairs.
My car has 43000 miles and the clutch has gone out.the vehicle was in motion at the time and driving down an country highway. I could not shift gears and almost had a wreck from the car behind me.
July 18, 2015 returning from a 350 mile trip to miami from st. Petersburg, fla. On i-75n, experienced a harrowing driver side rear tire explosion in alligator alley about 11:30am. Hyundai elantra has no spare tire on a leased car. Tires are hankook omnipro h-426. Multiple complaints filed about these particular tires after researching. Mileage is less than 10k miles and car is only 2 yrs. Old and was leased brand new.have 'hyundai roadside assistance that only tows to nearest dealership', per csr after call to report, requiring a trip back 30 miles. After explaining ordeal, tire explosion, rear bumper torn off, back light damage from tire being completely ripped apart and major backside damage from said incident, davie florida hyundai dealership did change and replace tire that i had to purchase. They assured us that car was safe to drive. Receipt showed multi-point inspection provided as well as wheel balance and alignment. Back on road at approx. 3:30pm, i-75n almost to same spot, (alligator alley) second tire explodes on driver side front making car inoperable; waited for 2nd tow(8pm) all the way home, arrived about 12 midnight. I am currently terrified of driving with other two tires on passenger side. Waiting to hear from hyundai customer care about resolution,
Car burns oil which has now destroyed catalytic converter. Dealer refuses to correct
The remote control on all hyundai's will within a certain range will cause my trunk to open. Just the trunk. I can lock my car and come out at the mall or out of my home in the moring and find my doors still locked and my trunk opened! i discovered the culprit one day when i was parked near another hyundai and they hit their remote before i did to unlock their car, my trunk flew open!
Whenever it rains my trunk fills up with water. I through that maybe it was the lining on my vehicle but it is intact. When the trunks fills up it gets so high that it flows to the backs seats and soaking them. Ifnot maintained properly it will cause a very bad odor and mold. It has happened when the vehicle was stationary in my driveway.
The issue is related to air ventilation in the carif i set the options correctly to get outside fresh air with no a/c running, after some time i feel like i am inhaling engine exhaust. Made multiple complaints but each time i was told that it's working as designed.air vents have some issue which lets the engine exhaust get into the passenger cabin.
The elantra that had 18000 miles on it burst into flames after setting overnight. The car had not been driven since the night before and it burst into flames in my driveway and completely burned up. The fire department had to come out and put the car out. They investigated the fire and found there was no foul play. It is unknown to us what caused the fire but we feel it had to be something electrical.
Car is stalling and engine turns off when driving at low speeds heavy traffic. Have to put car in park and restart. All indicators on dash turn on suddenly and engine shuts off. This has occurred repeatidly whenever i am in traffic on the freeway
On january 18, 2016 i was existing a parked hyundai elantra and my right thump got jammed in the door of the driver side, i tried to the open the door to release my finger it was shut tight and did not release. After several minutes it finally opened causing damage to my finger.i wasn't aware that this model has such a problem, otherwise will not have rented it for enterprise.there is documentation of the problem from other people that this model has a faulty door but hyundai motor america refuses to bear the blame for their malfunctioned car.

The car stalls when you come to a stop after the engine has warmed up from driving. Stalls every time the car idles after warm up. Car is drive by wire with all electronic gas pedal and throttle body. No means of increasing the idle setting. Stalling can be averted by keeping right foot on the gas and braking with left foot. Not a safe way to drive.
The contact owns a 2015 hyundai elantra. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact's vehicle accelerated rapidly and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The contact mentioned that the rapid acceleration was a recurring failure prior to the crash. The air bags failed to deploy and there were no injuries sustained. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,700.
The car was on highway and as i was getting off the car would not stop and in fact as i tried to press the brakes to stop the car would not stop until it crashed,

2015 hyundai elantra. 2 years old. Driver's side tire (and passenger's side, but not as much) starts thumping when driven over 60 mph, or will inconsistently start thumping randomly at different speeds. Feels very unsafe as it feels like i am driving on a flat tire. Each time that this has happened, i had to pull over on the highway to check if i actually had a flat tire, but did not.first time i noticed this was a few months ago. I dismissed the problem because i thought the issue was just a bumpy highway, as the problem disappeared after exiting. From there on, the car drove smoothly until i reached my destination. I did not have that problem again until a few months later.the thumping started happening randomly on roads that i drove smooth on before, so i knew it was not a bad road issue. This car needs a recall as it is already causing me life threatening problems only at 2 years old. I am also having issues with brakes and steering, but they appear minor to the tire problem.
The tire on the back driver side exploded on the highway with a 70mph speed limit.a week and half after that tire was replaced the front tire in the front side of the driver had its tread separating from the casing.this could have had a blowout andpotentially been harming.
