Car hydroplaned on interstate causing car to slide into concrete guard rail. Air bags deployed in driver and passenger seats. Somethinghit passenger in face when deployment happened causing facial lacerations and a fracture to the forehead which ended up being a depressed fracture through the frontal sinus cavity. Passenger had to be taken to hospital for ct scans and closures of lacerations. The surgeon said the bone looked like someone hit it with a ball pen hammer perfectly round shattered.*dt*dtconsumer stated there was no warning lights prior to the incident.
My vehicle was involve in a rear end collision, where i was pushed into the car in front of me , i have substantial damage to both the front and rear of my car.i was stopped at a red light. My car crunched like a tin can, and is a total loss. I hit my head, my wrist, and my back is hurt. My air bags never deployed, not one of them. I cant send pictures now they are on my phone.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the seat belt pretensioner needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the warranty on her vehicle had expired. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
The airbag light came on. Airbag will not deploy in a collision. This is dangerous and should be a recall for the 2014 elantra gt models as well. There are a number of complaints found online. There has already been recalls on previous models. The 2014 should be added to the recall list.
Vehicle air bags systems just went out. Also my electronic power steering system isn't working either
I purchased my hyundai elantra in 2018 from a dealer in gilbert. The vehicle was pre-owned but records do not indicate any accidents. Recently i have started to have an issue with the airbag light being illuminated. It started out as an intermittent issue but now the airbag light is always on. I learned the illuminated airbag light means my airbags will not deploy in a crash. I've never had an issue with airbags in any vehicle i've owned. Some having over 300,000 miles. Hyundai has numerous complaints regarding the airbag system failing.this is a safety issue and it needs to be addressed by hyundai america. I've tried contacting them for support thru email but have not received any response.
I am the financed owner of a black 2014 hyundai elantra that i had purchased in august of 2014. I was driving south bound on i-95 traveling in the farthest left lane when a car to the right of me, lost control of their vehicle and hit the rear passenger side of my car which pushed the front end of my car into the wall, which then caused the vehicle to do a 360 spin. After the 360 spin my vehicle had come to a complete stop facing north bound in the south bound i-95 lanes, immediately afterstopping i was hit head on by an oncoming car. After being hit head on i was knocked unconscious and woke to my car in the emergency lanes to the right of the south bound lanes of i-95. I had realized that the passenger side window curtain airbags were the only airbags that had deployed during the entire car accident. After further inspection, it was obvious that the front frame of my vehicle was demolished right where the airbag sensors are located. I am highly concerned that there is a defect or malfunction with the airbags or possibly the computer system, not only for what could have been possible casualties, but a friend of mine has a 4 year old and purchased the exact same make/model vehicle. As well as, when i purchased this vehicle, i was assured that it was a safe car and that its safety features were up to par. I would feel reassured knowing that this was taken into further investigation because i am uncomfortable with the unknown reason of why my airbags did not deploy in a major accident.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and stalled without warning. Also, the vehicle veered to the right and vibrated excessively at high speeds. The dealer was made aware of the failure, but declined to perform the repair. While driving 30 mph and making a left turn, the contact's vehicle crashed into a tree after it was rear ended by another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a mild concussion and received medical attention. Both the dealer and manufacturer were made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 1,580.updated 7/7/15updated 10/05/2017
Air bags did not deploy after being hit by commercial box truck going over 50 mph
I was in an accident on 11/30/17 that had three impacts and not one airbag deployed. I had an accident in 10/2016 and it did not deploy either, but i figured maybe because it wasn't as violent of an accident. The november accident was hard and several people have indicated that they were shocked they did not deploy including a deputy, a couple of doctors, and two insurance representatives. My car was totaled so i do not own it anymore. I was driving about 45-50 mph on a straight road and a person came from side street stop sign at me to clip the front passenger side, caused front driver side to hit a guardrail, and finally the car went head first into shallow ditch (hit rotten post and a lot of bushes). Driver door would not open all the way, a hole was in the driver front tire, the front passenger tire looked concaved/misshapen on the car.
I am the owner of a 2014 white hyundai elantra, at present the odometer is reading 6,800 miles. On tuesday, december 9th, at approximately 5:25 p.m. While driving my 2014 hyundai elantra at a slow speed (approximately 10-15 mph) in a shopping center parking lot located at 10100 w. Sample road, florida, i experienced a sudden and unexpected acceleration, which caused a severe crash involving two other vehicles. My vehicle suddenly accelerated which thereby caused me to lose control of the vehicle and collide with two parked cars (an suv and a sedan. Even after colliding with the suv i still was unable the stop the vehicle which was traveling at such a high rate of speed that i collided with a second vehicle. It was only when i put the car into the park position did the vehicle come to a stop. At no time did the cars airbags deploy.i am beyond distressed about this accident. I am a safe driver and have never experienced an accident such as this before. Aside from my physical and emotional injuries, my sister suffered several injuries when she arrived on the scene. This has just added to my distress and disappointment about the accident. When i purchased the vehicle i was assured that this was a safe car, however, i have looked at the nhtsa website and there are multiple complaints about the hyundai elantra, including several sudden and unexplained acceleration crashes. I intend to file a complaint myself. The preliminary estimate of the damage to my car is over ten thousand dollars and now i face selling the car because there is no way that i would feel safe or comfortable driving it again. I have two young grandchildren that visit me frequently and i would never take the chance of having them in an unsafe car. I expect that you will be eager to conduct a full investigation into this matter and conduct a full inspection of my car as soon as possible.
I was in a frontend collision and the airbags did not work. I struck the vehicle go 50 mph which was a front end collision. I only suffers minor shoulder injuries. My concern is when the collision shop completes the work fixing my car, will i feel save if another collision occus. I don't know of any recalls at this time.
Srs light illuminated on the dash, this means that the airbag control unit sees an issue in the system and disabled the system. This means that the airbags will not deploy in the event of an accident.
Front airbag clock spring bad.air bag light stays on.dealer states not part of warranty.other hyundais with same problem have warranties that have been extended.this needs to be included also
Airbag come onstay onand oil light come on and off

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that while merging into traffic, another vehicle crashed into the driver side of the vehicle. During the crash, the side curtain air bags did not deploy and the seat belts did not retract. No injuries were reported and a police report was filed.the cause of the failures were not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 12,000.
I have made numerous oil changes and i was driving home one night. The car left side front tire started screeching and the car kept jerking. Then there was a loud knocking coming from the engine. I drove it the next day and was on my way home and as soon as i pulled into my driveway, the car stalled and will not crank up at all.
On rt. 29 north in maryland, rush hour bumper to bumper traffic, this vehicle, rear ended another vehicle. There was over $8,900 of damage and the driver injured his left knee by hitting the dash. The car stalled before the crash and the air bags did not deploy. The fan was pushed into the radiator and both headlights were completly, and totally demolished, with damage including from the front bumper to the two front doors, and e everything between the bumper and the engine block.this is the second front end accidentfor this car. The first being 3 weeks after purchase and again the air bags did not deploy....updated 06-12-15 updated 10/17/217
The srs light on my2014 hyundai elantra se stays illuminated while car is on
Airbags not deploying, 2014 hyundai elantraon 1 apr 2016, atlanta, ga, i had an accident in the 2014 hyundai elantra. I was hit on the driver's side, in front of the tire while making a left turn.although the impact was severe enough to break ribs; however, the airbag did not deploy . The vehicle was stationary. I pulled out of thedriveway and stopped when i saw a vehicle heading my way.
I have noticed that the sound coming from the engine is delayed kinda, almost like its not getting enough air at the right time . My car will have a hard time accelerating and it will hit high rmps then shift. I have to just slow down before the shift cause sometimes it scares me. I hear a ticking sound sometime but that could be music. My breaks are really touchy and sometime seem to have no traction when i need it most.all these things happen when i am driving. When i am trying to accelerate or break i can fill some kind of pull from behind the car.
Air bag srs light stays onand the car has less than 30000 miles on it.
When i start my car on a daily basis it works perfectly fine. Suddenly ill go out to start my car and its not starting after replacing the camshaft sensors, battery, starter and more. Ive got my car put on the diagnostic tests at the actual dealership and there is nothing shown. Ive had my car towed two times to different dealerships and ive managed to find the issue which after reasearching as well that the "range switch" could be the problem or "shift interlock". Sometimes it will start and sometimes it wont start at times until i have to have it towed these last couple of times. This has been a major issue with my everyday life getting back and forth to work and with a child! its stressful! it doesn't matter if its hot or cold outside the car will not start certain times of the year.
While driving on 5 freeway in california my 2014 hyundai elantra started to violently shake like someone hitting the brake. I threw it in neutral and help my wife turn the steering wheel because we lost power steering. We got lucky and had a space to coast to the side of the road. When we got towed to tuttle-click in irvine, ca and our car turned into the service department, they basically said we are on our own to find a ride back home and no loaner car. Two days later i have to call them to find out the problem, first a technician said that it was a bad battery but that would not have caused it to completely shut down. Then a few hours later the service manager calls to say it was the battery and that is what caused it to shut down on us. After (4) days of keeping the car, the hyundai dealership said that our battery had a catastrophic failure which caused our car to completely shut down on the freeway. I have filed a complaint with hyundai corporate but don't know what they can do?
The car will not turn on. The battery has been test and is fine. This has happened several times over the past year. The car is turned off and stationary, when the key is in the ignition all lights turn on but the car does not turn on. It has been taken to multiple hyundai dealerships and they have not been able to duplicate the problem. This is a dangerous situation because it has left me stranded several times in rural areas.
After driving for an hour or so the car will shut off in the middle of a trip. No warning, just a quick engine shut off on the highway, whichforces me to shift the car into neutral to crank it back up. The vehicle is in motion when this occurs, and it's a severe safety problem.
Car has problem starting when using electronic ignition after numerous attemps after pushing key open and close im not sure but it will eventully start. Car was in stationary position parking lot and home.
I went into my car, which is parked in the garage, and turned the key.the car didn't turn over or make any type of sound indicating the car was starting.i did have radio and lights.i called a friend to ask if it could be the battery, my car is just 10 months old and only has about 5,000 miles on it, by the time i finished the call i tried to start the car again and it turned over.this happened again the following wed.i took the car to the dealer and the "tested everything" and came to the conclusion that it was battery related.that because of the extreme cold and not using the car very much it was causing this to happen.but if it is the battery, why would the car start up a minute or two after it did not?i have never felt safe driving this car and now this problem is only making it worse.

The starter motor sporadically refuses to crank. It seems jarring the shift lever or towing the vehicle temporarily solves the problem. One trip to the dealership thus far with no repair done.
The transmission range sensor on my car died after about 78000 miles and caused the car to lock up while on the highway. Stayed in 3rd gear and for a few weeks before would lock up while in park, neutral, reverse and drive (most commonly while in park). This nearly caused a couple of accidents. After doing some research this appears to be a common problem with elantras dating all the way back to 2007 and even has continued past my model year (2014) into 2015 models. The dealership even referred to it aso a faulty range sensor which to me seems to imply that they know about this issue. I couldn't shift and had a more difficult time slowing down and speeding up than usual. The part is relatively inexpensive but the diagnostic fee plus labor to remove and replace the faulty mechanical part was well over $150, resulting in a total bill of $210. A part failure that causes the vehicles computer, transmission and drivetrain to lose all connection to one another can be very dangerous, especially while on the highway.at first it happened only while stationary in park, the car would lock up while sitting with the engine running for a while. I would turn off the engine and re-engage the vehicle and everything would operate as normal. Then it occurred while backing down the hill out of my driveway, locked up in reverse, i applied the brakes, set the parking brake and turned off the car while still in reverse. (i live in a quiet subdivision of a small town of 12,000, what if this happened in a busier or more heavily populated area?) i was still able to start the vehicle while in reverse and shortly thereafter while in neutral. Then tuesday morning while on the interstate (i-95) the gear and drive mode indicator on the tachometer went blank, i was stuck in 3rd gear (limp mode) and my car once slowing down had a difficult time accelerating after stopping.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that there was a hesitation while attempting to start the vehicle. The contact took four or more attempts to start the vehicle. Additionally, the low beam headlamps were inadequate for night time driving. The contact stated that the high beam headlamps were primarily used for night driving. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000.
This is now the third time that my car has completely cut off on me while driving and it seems like every time this happens there is always a burning smell coming through the vents. I do not feel safe driving this car at all. Hyundai does not seem to care about their customers at all.
Troubles with the power/battery. Troubles started around 80k miles. At first the battery was a suspicion. A new battery was bought and then we were told a specific battery was needed which we obtained and put into the car. I am unsure if the battery is the issue (at this point i don't think it is). Recently, the car at about 86k miles, has had times where it does not start. For example, times where we go to the store or even left overnight, the car will not turn on. No sign of life at all. We wait a while then try it again. After a while, the car eventually turns on but there is no telling how long it will take. There have been occasions where we are driving and the dash board lights will all turn on at once then turn off. Other times we will be driving and the radio/clock screen will randomly turn off and on as if the car was turned off. At this point we are worried we will be stranded if we take this car out into the community. The car has not turned on while at home, visiting out in the community, and at work. The lights on the dash and radio face acts up while driving. No check engine light has ever came on.
2014 hyundai elantra will not turn off when car is turned off and key removed from ignition and door is open the radio and clock lights all work as if the car is on when its off
My low fuel indicator light had just turned on.was going up a very slight grade and the car stopped in the middle of the road.
Wants to stall when pushing on brakes, and when i let offbrakes it wants to stall, my gas mileage stays the same ,and my temperature gauge goes up fast when's i start the vechicle.my lights in my car don't come on to much.and it's seem to be running rough in certain areas then it goes back to running good when i get further away from my house i had my car at dealerships3 times and they say no codes.and the car does this when i sit still and when i push on the gas.it does it in cityhighway seems to be running normal. Dealers don't know what's wrong
Car just stopped and i received a call and they said the engine is out!
After less than 2 years, the car battery dies and disables the control of this particular car and year. Many customers, according to reviews, seem to have the same problem. Should the battery falter when driving on a highway, serious accidents could result. My vehicle was moving at a slow pace in the parking lot when the battery died. I lost control of the car. I was not expecting the battery to die as it is only about 18 months old. I do not have a picture. The car is at the dealership.
When being driven and slowing down for a stop light, car decelerates and stalls, goes to 0 mph. Brake lights malfunction. Left signal light malfunctions.
The brake lights remain on when your foot is off of the brake pedal.similar to the recall # 170.howeverthis model does not fall under the re-call.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start and stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed more than once due to the failure. The contact notified more than one dealer, but they could not replicate and diagnose the failure. The vehicle was still at the dealer for further inspection. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,500. Updated 05/24/16*ljthe consumer stated the range switch was replaced . The vehicle was repaired. Sometimes when i go to start my car it won't even start. I had the battery checked out by several mechanics and the battery was good. They put it on a diagnostic machine and they said everything was good. I have been left stranded several times because my car would not start. I had to wait over 30 35 minutes
I've had trouble starting the car multiple times. All lights will work fine, radio, power locks and windows all work, the car just doesnt start. I had it brought back to the hyundai dealership i bought it from and was told by the service guys it started up no problem for them and they couldnt find anything wrong. I've noticed that when it happens, taking the car out of park, and then shifting back to park seems to trigger something and then the car will start. It happens randomly
This has happened about 4 times, but yesterday was the latest.while driving on the turnpike at 75 mph, the traction light came on (which is for the esc) and the car immediately de-accelerated to about 35 mph.i had no control over the car could not accelerate or brake.the car made a grinding noise and sounded like it had a flat tire - it was hard to maintain control of the car.it finally returned to normal. I took the car in to the dealership today and they checked the computer system and the sensors on the engine, transmission and traction control and found nothing wrong either by computer error codes or by visually inspecting the parts or sensors.so, i have no recourse other than calling hyundai and getting a case set up so that it can be documented.
While driving straight on interstate at 65mph when the traction control light came on for over 30 seconds and drastically slowed the vehicle to under 20mph. Weather conditions were completely dry and road surface was smooth. Hazard lights were put on to warn other drivers from possible collision and i pulled over. This has happened on two occasions in a 3 week period. Car was taken to dealership where they said no codes came up and they could not replicate described problem. A recall was issued in 2011-2012 for similar issue on same make and model.
Car just stopped and i received a call and they said the engine is out!
While driving at highway speeds, the rear of the 2014 elantra consistently sways and at times causes vehicle to actually drift into other lanes which is a huge safety issue to me and my family, my fiancee is actually fearful of driving this car as i am. We have had the car back at dealer and have been told it's the way the car is made. I actually spoke on phone with hyundai motors eastern seaboard district manager [xxx]( his phone number is [xxx] )and claims he has never heard of the swaying issue. I feel i am loosing control of car and possibly going to have accident, seems like manufacturer won't do anything until someone is killed because they refuse to accept responsibility and issue a recall. For the money i paid for this car i feel i got ripped off. Hyundai needs to be sued in court. If anyone is interested in getting a class action lawsuit going please contact me, my email is [xxx] we have rights, let's band together and force hyundai to fix problem before someone we love gets killed by hyundai's refusal to fix this extreme safety issue. If enough of us stand together we can win, hyundai doesn't care about our safety or the safety of our loved ones riding in these cars.so email me and let's get this lawsuit started before someone gets hurt or killed, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The esc (traction control) randomly comes on while cruising at highway speeds on straight, level, dry roads (often on interstates).sometimes the abs lights also light up.brakes are applied and power to the engine is suspended making the can nearly impossible to control properly.my car has been in the shop now under warranty for over 60 consecutive days and the dealership and hyundai cannot determine the reason for this malfunction.after repeated requests to have the car repaired under warranty, this car has been in an accident and i have asked hyundai to determine the relevance of this repeated malfunction in the accident where the car would not stop quickly enough to avoid another motorist. This car was purchased used with 20,185 miles on it and currently has around 22k miles and is under a bumper to bumper warranty.
While driving on the interstate the traction control light flickered and speed started to decrease to around 40 mph. I was unable to accelerate and had to pull over and shut the car off. After i restarted the car i began to drive again and the light flickered more while driving. The weather was sunny and warm. No wet roads. This has happened 3 times now. Each time has been on the interstate.
Vehicle air bags systems just went out. Also my electronic power steering system isn't working either

The issue is with the steering. No power steering, very hard to turn the steering wheel. Called the dealer. Brought the car to the dealer. 08/04/2015. Diagnose:the steering wheel and column all need to be replaced.the make of this car is a 2014 elantra gt with only 6400 miles.08/21/2015 still waiting on the part that is back order to come in.
On 5/30/14 i purchased a 2013 hyundai elantra close out with 54 miles on it. At 4300 miles i lost all control of the steering and the car went across 3 lanes of interstate 3 times before i regained control of the car. I returned the car to the dealer and had to "trade it in" to get a different car. I left the dealer with a 2014 elantra limited on 7/21/14 having to pay them an $4500 extra. The 2014 felt better on the road now at 1300 miles i start felling the same fish tailing feel when the car is going interstate speed 70mph. As i write this the car now has 1944 miles and the condition is getting worse. I drive the same interstate everyday and the road conditions have not changed. I no longer can drive this car interstate speed, i now have to drive it at no more than 55mph. The 2013 did this fish tail or wander also, and just before it went out of control it did it sharply for no reason. Now i have concern this will happen with this car also as the symptoms that are starting are the same. I called hyundai customer care and filed a complaint, they said they would do what needed to be done to fix this issue. The wobble and unstable feel driving this car, is a very on edge unpleasant ride as one does not know if it will lose control. I do not know if it is the steering or the stability control or even the suspension that is the issue. You can't feel the wobble in the steering wheel, you feel it though out the car. I have now had two elantra's driven them a combined mileage of 7000 miles in 8 weeks and both have the same issue. Something is very wrong with the control of these cars and there needs to be a recall, i can't be that unlucky to get the only two cars out there with the same issue.
Takata recallon 9/23/2018, about an hour after a rainstorm (car was garaged during storm) my car was in motion at 40 mph in the left lane on a curve of a southbound interstate exit i275. The car suddenly went sideways, and began fishtailing. I tried to pump the breaks but they were not working. The vehicle then smashed the front side of bumper into the guard rail, and pushed me across two traffic lanes. The vehicle stopped in the right lane, facing north in a southbound exit. I tried to put it in reverse to get into the shoulder, andthere was no acceleration. The engine had shut off on me while driving on the interstate. I do not know what failed the engine, or why it shut off.hyundai corporate was contacted and they opened a case, and performed a full inspection. On 11/12/18 hyundai claimed "we cannot agree that the accident involved a product defect and are declining any financial assistance."a third party mechanic was then contacted, and found code c1555 and a failing vvti cylinoid.there is no recall.there is no way to prove this car is unsafe with the routes i have taken so far. I will not accept this answer. The engine of this car shut off and could have been fatal. It is also terrifying to think about who would to be blamed for such a fatal or dangerous accident since hyundai "couldn't find any defect." i asked for results of the scan and the case manager, christina replied that i am not authorized to see them, for "results are for proprietary use only." this company needs to own up to their risky product!
I have noticed that the sound coming from the engine is delayed kinda, almost like its not getting enough air at the right time . My car will have a hard time accelerating and it will hit high rmps then shift. I have to just slow down before the shift cause sometimes it scares me. My daughter attends a university in the los angeles area. I bought her this car thinking it would keep her safe on the hectic freeways. Three times now the car has stalled on the freeway. Each time the traffic was moving very slowly with stop and go traffic.i advised her to take it to the nearest dealership and she did. They called her and asked to keep the car because they were unable to duplicate the problem so they couldn't diagnose it. She picked the car up the next day and it still wasn't diagnosed.i've seen forums on the internet where this problem seems to recur with hyundais and is traced to the 1) maf sensor 2) fuel system; pump, injectors, filter 3) catalytic converter. If a technician has to "duplicate" the problem in order to diagnose it, it may never be fixed! now i tell my daughter to stay in the slow lane just in case. So much for "safety".
Sudden engine failure due to excessive metal. Car was operating normally on highway when suddenly oil pressure light began flashing on and off. This was followed by knocking which got progressively louder over short period. Rolled into service station to find engine blown. Service station suggested towing to hyundai for evaluation. Hyundai dealership tore down engine to find "significant" metal and blown cylinder. Hyundai refuses to acknowledge this is a defect.
I have made numerous oil changes and i was driving home one night. The car left side front tire started screeching and the car kept jerking. Then there was a loud knocking coming from the engine. I drove it the next day and was on my way home and as soon as i pulled into my driveway, the car stalled and will not crank up at all.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While traveling at any speed, the anti-traction indicator illuminated and remained lit. As a result, the contact was unable to accelerate and move the vehicle. The vehicle completely shut down and sometimes took awhile to restart. The contact also stated that the engine began to stall and prevented the contact from maintaining highway speeds. The vehicle was taken to fenton hyundai (16230 lyndon b johnson fwy, mesquite, texas), but the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.
My 2014 hyundai elantra limited has stalled on various occasions, all have which have been while i was at a stop. However, the problem seems to be getting worse for now i have stalled on the freeway while moving in traffic. My car has currently been at the dealer running a diagnostic for two days now and they cannot find anything wrong. Doing my own research online i have found multiple other complaints about the same stalling problem with the exact same make, model, and year. All reports have all stated that hyundai cannot find the problem. This can become a serious issue.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v226000 (engine and engine cooling). The part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The dealer stated that the parts were not available. The contact also stated that when she tried to start the vehicle, it failed to start and the steering wheel failed to turn. The failure recurred three more times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they would call the contact back, but did not. The approximate failure mileage was 10,500. Parts distribution disconnect.
On december 8, 2017 i purchased a 2014 hyundai elantra coupe. On august 3, 2018 while driving on the highway the car started making rattling noises. I pulled over and the car shut down. I had to have the car towed. I contacted the hyundai corporation. I was instructed to take the car to my local hyundai dealership. The hyundai contact stated that it was not normal that a three year old hyundai automobile engine should die. The hyundai contact stated that my local hyundai dealership should perform a pa. Pa is a prior approval. The pa was performed and along with the hyundai dealerships director of service kevin anderson support, and agreement of abnormality, the pa was submitted. The pa came back as denied stating 'excessive mileage'.the director of service disagreed and resubmitted the pa. The case was elevated to a hyundai corporate case manager by the name cameron. Cameron rejected the pa as well but changed the reasoning to 'mileage over warranty'. The whole reason for the pa in the first place was because the car was out of warranty. I at this point on august 31, 2018 overnighted a letter to the ceo of hyundai mr. Kyung soo lee. To date i have received no response from the hyundai corporation. In speaking with the dealership service director i was informed that at his dealership alone there are 5/6 hyundai elantras that have lost their engines. He also informed me that the hyundai sonata has an open recall on the engine. He stated that the engines for both the sonata and elantra vehicles are currently back ordered for a term of at least 1 to 2 years. In my personal online research i have found complaints of the exact circumstances happening to the elantra engines: highway driving, no warning indicators, rattling noises, vehicle stopping, and engine dead. I am enclosing the ceo letter along with the pa documentation.
Engine seized
After reaching approx. 60,000 miles my engine developed a slight ticking noise. I've maintained regular oil changes, rotations and other general maintenance along with ensure my car seldom if ever hits empty. In the past few years of owning the car, i've had trouble with the start up. I contributed this to the cold weather of chicago. As the temperatures have been rather fair lately, i've been having the same issue where it wont start initially. Today, my engine died twice while in traffic with no warning, no sounds or anything. I was able to start it up just fine today and after each stall but am more concerned of a larger issue. To my knowledge this has been a problem with a number of hyundai vehicles in the 2014 class along with a number of elantras.my issue occured while driving on the city streets.
Engine has rough idle since i got it i believe it has knock engine issues and should be on the recall list i have replaced engine coils injection system cleaning the rpm at idle is so rough my transmit fluid when i had my meter plugged in is so hot i'm afraid of a fire. But hyundai i've had such bad experience i'm afraid of the run around i just want it replaces fixes it is faulty engine now it surges. I don't want to die for this mystery hyundai engine issue.
My 2014 hyundia elantra sport 2.0l engine threw a rod with only 101300 miles. The car had a lot of value because it was running great and was in better than good condition until now. To replace the engine was going to cost between $8k to $10k. Reading on the internet hyundia 2.0l engines are experiencing a lot of engine failures like this. The mechanic shop where i took it called two hyundi-kia dealership to see if my elantra engine was under hyundia recall, both said it wasn't. Now i am forced to look for a new car and figure out how to recoup some loss from my eltantra. In the future i will never consider another hyundia-kia car because of engine issues.
Driving on freeway at approx 70 mph.care shuts off and goes dark.managed to pull car over to shoulder. Got out of car and engine compartment was on fire.was not hurt but car and everything in car burnt and was total loss. Found out after that people have reported about hyundai fire issue's.
This is now the third time that my car has completely cut off on me while driving and it seems like every time this happens there is always a burning smell coming through the vents. I do not feel safe driving this car at all. Hyundai does not seem to care about their customers at all.
While driving the car dies. Any speed whether on freeway or city streets. Dash lights come on, engine dies, put car in neutral and it starts back up for about 10 to 15 min then does it again. This is very unsafe and is an accident waiting to happen. No warranty on car cause its at 70,000 miles, my only means of transportation and don't have money to dump into a 4 yr old car with 70,000 miles. I see this is a problem with a lot of these cars, yet no recall. There has to be an issue related to all and it should be fixed by hyundai since it is a huge safety issue.
In jan 2018 while driving my car a notice a knocking noise.i brought my car in for an oil change and ask about the noise they had told me that it maybe my oil pump.never had any stalling problems as others had reported but did have a few times that it seemed like it did not want to shift until i let off the gas pedal.brought car to dealer ship(rowe, auburn,me) to have it checked as it was still under the power train warranty.left it there on feb 5, 2018.they called me later that morning and told me that my engine needed to be replaced.internal problem. Not sure what that means.so i asked if this was going to be covered 100% as it was still under warranty they said yes.so they put me in a loaner car.checked back in at the end of the month and was told my engine was on national back order until possible may 2018.so here it is may 14, 2018 and still have not heard when i'll get my car back.
Airbag come onstay onand oil light come on and off
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled and a cloud of white smoke appeared from the rear of the vehicle. Once the vehicle was moved to the side of the road, black smoke began to appear from under the hood of the vehicle, which eventually turned to flames. The fire department extinguished the fire and filed a report. The contact was not notified whether or not the vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened case number: 10309640. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
I started my car with no problem and drove maybe 15 min from my home. I went into the store and came back out and the car struggled to start. After the second attempt the car started although it didn't sound right. After driving a minute up the road the car shut completely off and wouldn't start. After several failed attempts of trying to start my car i had it towed to my home. I had a mechanic come to check it out and was told that there were metal shavings in the oil, which is a sign that the engine was failing. I then explained to him that the car has been knocking for a few months and he informed me that hyundai recalled a few models for the same reason. I did some research on mine and realized there are several people with the same issue and hyundai has done nothing about it.
While driving my 2014 hyundai elantra it started to slow down, and the check engine light came one along with the a flashing oil light. I found it funny because i had just had the oil changed 1 week before. The next thing i knew the car just stopped mid driving in heavy traffic on the freeway.. I had it towed back to the mechanic and they checked everything out and i was told i needed a new engine. I don't see how when i keep my matience up on my car. But as i look up things on the internet i see the 2014 elantra is giving alot of people problems when it comes to the engine. And i am not sure why hyundai has not done a recall on the engines here in the us but have done so in canda and overseas. I am a medical retired service member and on a fixed income. So paying 1000s of dollars for a new engine is not in my budget. Nor buying a new car ... Hyundai has been great with customer service thus far but now i am frustrated and sick to my stomach with the way i have been treated. Thank you for nothing...
Purchased a used 2014 1.8l elantra private party and found piston slap in cold start.looking online it appears to be a pervasive issue and hyundai is caring for canadian but not american owners.recall of faulty motors needed.hyundai is falsly claiming 10year 100,000 mile warranty that is not supported either
Engine failed on interstate at 55mph. A rod had pierced a cylinder leaving engine ruined.
Just over 100,000 miles the check engine light came on. Had the repairs completed, then the engine blew completely.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. When the accelerator pedal was engaged, the vehicle hesitated and only accelerated to 20 mph. The vehicle also stalled while at a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but a failure code could not be found. The mechanic cleaned all the sensors; however, the failure was not corrected. The mechanic stated that the throttle body was causing the vehicle not to accelerate. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 93,532.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that when the gear was shifted into drive, the vehicle stalled and shut down without warning. The vehicle was taken to the pugi hyundai dealer (1866 ogden av, downers grove, il 60515, 630-964-9500) where it was diagnosed that there was oil leaking on one of the sensors. The sensor was replaced, but the vehicle stalled and shut down again the following day. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer from where the vehicle was originally purchased. Patrick hyundai (1020 e. Golf rd, schaumburg, il 60173, 847-350-1520) diagnosed and replaced the engine and the gasket, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to patrick hyundai and was informed that an unknown part was not connected properly. The dealer reconnected the unknown part, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and referred the contact to napleton valley hyundai (4333 ogden ave, aurora, il 60504, 877-382-8666) where it was diagnosed that the firm belt was faulty. The technician replaced the belt. The technician was informed by the manufacturer that the continued stalling was caused by bad fuel; however, the technician did not agree and needed to check a few more things. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
The engine started making a ticking noise as early as 40k miles.it ran ok and i was lead to believe this was "normal" from the dealership. I maintained the vehicle as required until 88k while noticing more and more oil was being consumed.after slowing down and turning from a highway on to a county road, the automatic vehicle began to shift erratically and could not go faster than 40mph and then the engine turned off. I managed to get to the side of the road while this occurred.the engine started, but driving but the gears would not shift properly causing the engine to stall. In the dealership, the diagnosis was a new engine. I am the second owner and was told there was initially nothing could be done under warrantee with the mileage (while suggesting i must have went way too long between oil changes.....not even close to correct).the dealership made an appeal to hyundai and offered to pay for half of the cost of a new engine.so i am supposed to be happy paying only $4200.the new engine does not have a ticking sound and i highly suspect that was the start of the problem before. I'm seeing the "ticking" sound in many of the complaints and can't believe a recall still hasn't been issued for this. I don't trust this car or hyundai to do the right thing on their own.
I was on a highway driving the vehicle (a 2014 hyundai elantra)at highway speed when it inexplicably "stalled" for lack of a better term.i quickly lost speed and could not accelerate despite the fact that i was pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor at one point.the vehicle simply did not respond.there was plenty of gas in the vehicle, so i had not run out of gas.the vehicle appeared to have shut off in the middle of operation.this resulted in a major accident on a highway where i, along with the other occupants within the vehicle, sustained significant injuries.notably, no airbags deployed--even though the vehicle was struck several times from different angles and sustained heavy damage, including being crushed in from the rear.
I boughtbmy car and anoit 1 month after it started having a ticking noise. Also the car will kinda stall when i'm getting on the highway where i can't get over 45 mph. Also the symbol with the (!) keep coming on and then blinking really fast. And the front end kinda shakes when it does that
2014 hyundai elantra - when the vehicle is at low speed (under 30), and after warming up it shuts off with no noise, no warning it just shuts off. There was one knocking idling at a stop light just before it shut off. But for both my daughter and myself it shut off with no warning. There are no check engine or warning lights on, it is not throwing a code. The dealer has said there is sludge in the engine and that the engine needs to be replaced - in a 2014 with 145k, single owner. In reading online, there is a class action lawsuit open - brown v hyundai where multiple owners have reported the exact same symptoms and dealer resolution but there is a know piston defect that is causing this problem. No tsb issued in us but they did in canada for the same problem.
I was turning into a parking space at my work and almost at a complete stop when the engine suddenly revved and accelerated, causing my car to jump the curb and hit a light pole.my foot was on the brake the whole time as i was coming to a stop.it happened so fast.one minute i was parking and the next second i hit the pole. I sustain several injuries and am waiting to hear about my car.
As i was driving my oil light came on, it was flickering on and off then all of a sudden my car just stopped and the check engine, battery, and oil light came on. I took it to the shop the told me it was the battery,so i replaced it. 2 months later the same thing happened and i was told it was the fuel pump,so i replaced the fuel pump, and had the oil changed. Now it's been 3 months and i am having the same issue. I love my elantra but this issue is causing me more money and time. No codes come up when they hook it up for diagnostics so this has to be an issue with a faulty part in the car.
2014 elantradriving the car in town at slow speeds, usually around 15-25 miles an hour, with rpms at about 1250. First noticed an issue with extremely jerky driving, but added gas and the problem went away, and i thought it was a one-time thing. About a week later, it happened again.i set an appointment to the murdock hyundai of murray utah to solve this issue that was putting my family and my security in risk. On june 18th around 6 pm, the did a diagnostic check in the dealership and then, they recommended me to clean my gas injectors, to do a tune-up, to do an alignment and to add new four tires change since they were totally damaged., some kind of hyundaisolvent cleaners for the gas engine. All of the services had a total of$1043 dollars. I thought it was all it needed but not it was not. A few days later, the car started to have the same symptoms as before, losing power again, engine slowing down and bad gas mileage... I set up another appointment with the dealership.
I purchased this car new. The engine has stalled while trying to accelerate several times since i have had this car. This started the first year or so that i had it. Hyundai has checked while under warranty and said there is nothing wrong. Once i was told that the computer needed to be reset. I have had regular maintenance over the life of the car. There are now just over 110,000 miles on the car. I recently was driving on a secondary road a few blocks from home. The car made a screeching sound, almost stalled, and then there was an engine ticking noise. No warning lights came on. I had it towed to a local mechanic that i trust. I was told that i would neednew engine because it sounded like there was loose metal in the engine. I have also read that this is a common issue in hyundai 2.0l engines. This car has mostly highway miles on it. It has been well maintained and has always had the oil changed before the manufacturer's recommended mileage. I think this engine should still be covered as if it is under warranty. It is possible that not enough of the elantra gt (i think most people buy the coupe which has a different engine) have been sold to create a recall. It is also possible that many of the ones that have been purchased have been traded in. Over the past 3 to 4 years, i have received numerous letters and cards from hyundai. They specifically said that they needed me to trade in my elantra gt and they would offer me top dollar on a trade in or trade up. I now think they wanted my car back because they knew this engine had problems and hoped they could just sell me a different car. I just paid this car off and intended to drive it several more years. This is a faulty engine. No car that has been maintained should have this happen. I still have a jeep i bought in 1994 with over 200k miles and it runs great!this engine should be recalled or at least investigated
Engine running very poor always maintenanced very loud ticking loud noise that from 30 000 miles was told from dealer that was normal. Now i'm being told its engine failure thats manufactured issue. Was city driving when engine light appeared and totally lose of control and acceleration.
Bought this car new in 2014 for my daughter twice this year 2017 car has shook and stalled driving between 30 to 40 mph and then restarts upon turning key very very scary situation i have taken to local hyundai dealership where i had purchased was told no codes show on cars computer nothing can be done again this happened twice both on clear nice weather days while accelerating on local street and car shook and stalled both times with most dash board lites including check engine illuminating then when restarting car all lites are gone and car drove fine looked on line seems other people have same complaint regarding the hyundai elantra
I am the second owner of a 2014 hyundai elantra that now has 72,000 miles on it. After experiencing recent issues within the engine of this vehicle, i took it to dave hallman hyundai in erie, pa where it was determined that the vehicle needed an engine replacement. It was also decided that i would pay the costs of the labor, which totals $2,345. During this experience i have found that hyundai sonatas, sante fes, and elantras across the country are experiencing the same issue. As a matter of fact, when i initially took my vehicle to a local mechanic, employees were also working on a santa fe that had experienced engine failure, leading me to question the quality of these vehicles when the issue is so prominent.in the past 4 years i have bought two vehicles from hyundai, but for reasons beyond my control, have had to replace the first and now potentially the second. Moreover, i have been without a vehicle for four weeks now. I was informed a case manager could assist me, but of the multiple hyundai representatives, none were able to provide even a phone number. Eight days after representatives told me the case had been submitted, the case manager contacted me only to tell me he could offer no assistance. I was not informed my case would be deemed void in two days, but just happened to call and check.i understand hyundai maintains policies around the service that can and cannot be provided to second owners. I also understand that as a second owner, my vehicle's warranty would have expired 12,000 miles ago. However, i am asking that hyundai correct its mistake and pay full price for selling a defected product that inhibited the safety, reliability, and quality of my vehicle. There is no reason my car should have completely failed this early on. I do not feel hyundai's customers are responsible for paying to correct such a prominent mistake.
Engine failure due to oil shavings damaging engine. Manufacturer skipped a step in this process. Engine ticks when accelerating and shakes. Manufacturer even diagnosed the engine needing replacement but will not replace it under warranty because i am the second owner. I have maintenanced the vehicle regularly and kept it in good condition
Purchased this car used and within two years at 80k the engine is done. Always troubles even before ...oil and connectivity issues beforehand, shop had 3x, paid my 100 deductible 3x because i had purchased 3k warranty additionally at the time of sale. So as it stands now, i have no car and owe 8k on a loan.hyundai wants nothing to do with the recalled engine that was so called repaired, i am not the original owner, they state. My warranty company says only paying for value of car and then your warranty with us is void.the amount they allow is only for a used engine, why would i buy another used engine with the same issues with no warranty coverage, not to mention the fact the shop looked for a month and to no avail was there a used motor in the usa...hummmm, i wonder why? so to buy a new one, you go overseas and that would cost me 3k more on top of the warrenty pay out and 6 weeks out lead time. I cant believe with all the issues people have and the more and more recalls they are doing for engines and firers they are not connected to these cars as well. I am now out 8k on my loan and no car. I will never ever purchase or have a good thing to say about hyundai or kia...ever !!! this is cost me so my time and money and aggravation i feel like going to my local news with my strory, this is totally wrong!
I was driving on a state roadway, a revved the engine a bit to get over a small hill, and heard loud fan like noises, sputtering, and all the warning lights went on. No smoke came out of the car, it literally sputtered to a stop. I tried to start it, it turned over once and that was it. Tried hooking cables to jump it, even bought a new battery. After changing spark plugs, it was determined one blew. We tried to replace, same thing happened, the engine is shot, the dealer is claiming $7,000 to fix this, and i'm seeing there are issues with the engine, not just me. I work for penndot maintenance, so i'm on top of maintaining, oil, filters, check ups. Tires were a bit low, but next on my list. I need help.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle lost power and made an abnormal ticking noise. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the engine block needed to be replaced. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 101,000.
The motor started making a clicking noise very faint at first then over time it got louder then the engine light came on we had the car towed to the dealership we purchased the car.we were told that it needed a tear down to determine if the car needed a new engine they did that, then we were told since we were loyal customers had purchased 3 cars from massey and it had 104,000 miles 4 thousand over warranty that hyundai would probably cover part or all of the cost! we were told that if hyundai didn't cover the cost that it would cost us a couple of thousand dollars!...so we told them to fix the car hyundai was going to cover some of the cost didn't know how much though!we were never told...and we've never been told how much hyundai covered.the car needed a few minor repairs like the serpentinebelt which we needed to pay for but we ended up paying $2300.00 dollars we have talked to other hyundai owners that have had similar problems with their engines just wanted to know if there were any recalls for the engine?
After driving on the highway the engine started making a significant knocking sound. I pulled over and had the car towed to the dealer. They performed an engine diagnosis and removed the oil pan to find a lot of metal flakes. I was advised not to drive the vehicle (engine would likely seize) and informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle only has 85,000 miles on it, and the repair quotes are $6,500-8,500, which is almost what the vehicle was worth before the engine failure. Neither the manufacturer or the dealer would provide financial assistance towards repair due to me being the second owner. Since taking ownership at approximately 70,000 miles i have had every recommended maintenance performed by the dealer. No indication was ever given to me about there being metal in the oil pan or any potential problem arising. I have since found out that these engines have a high failure rate, and the manufacturer fights tooth-and-nail to avoid acknowledging a problem or assisting with repair costs for second owners -- even if well under the 100,000-mile power train warranty provided to original owners.
Around 9/14/19, my engine starting rattling (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nkof1bpu2e&feature=youtu.be).i had a mechanic look at it, and they observed nothing wrong.so, i wanted a second opinion from hyundai directly and got an appointment for 9/25/19.the engine died on 9/23/19 when i was coming up to a stop sign.i was able to get the engine toed to hyundai and they said the engine failed and would be $7500 to replace.i have always taken excellent care of my car and regularly got the oil changed.the original mechanic claimed no responsibility when i tried to file a claim through them.hyundai also claimed no responsibility when i filed a claim through them as well.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the vehicle jerked and moved abnormally as a noise was heard coming from the engine compartment. In addition, the check oil indicator illuminated. Pugi hyundai (1866 ogden ave, downers grove, il 60515, (630) 964-9500) indicated that an oil consumption test would be needed. The dealer stated that the vehicle was eligible for a replacement engine due to the warranty. The dealer provided the contact with three loaner vehicles. The manufacturer was contacted. The contact had been waiting for the part to arrive for months. The dealer and manufacturer indicated that the part may become available in mid january of 2019. The failure mileage was not available.
We purchased a new 2104 elantra in september 2013.two weeks later the car when started makes a loud noise and last for about an hour of driving it.it has happened every day since even after going to the shop.a couple months ago while driving in a slow school zone the car stalled while driving.had to put car in park and restart.taken to the dealership 3 times to express concerns.told nothing wrong.on 2/25/15 the car was being driven again slowly and stalled while driving, again had to put in park to restart the car.the first noise is now louder, the car is again at the dealership today 2/26/15.this car is a major accident waiting to happen.can't take my family in this car as a car that stalls in the middle of driving could cause an accident.thsi car is driven 40 miles each way to work every day.
My car is only 6 years old and it eats oil . My daughter in betweennoil changes had to put 2 quarts in the car. We use synthetic oil . This has been happening for some time now till i told my family and they mentioned hyundai had a recall. I dont see one for my car but there obviously is an issue.
Dec of 2017 the car stalled while i was driving through a tunnel. Luckily we weren't moving really due to traffic. The car started right up and was fine. Jan 2018 my engine started to make a loud thumping sound, especially upon cold start up. Brought vechile in feb 2018 bc the souls was starting to happen all the time. First trip into hyundai they told me there were no codes coming up and it t was bc of my oil filter not being be correct size. However, i have had my oil changes done every 3-5 thousand miles and never once had any issue, ever. Mind you my car just turned three. They changed the oil filter even though i literally had an oil change about two weeks earlier and the issues starts in december. Nothing changed and nothing was fixed, the sound was still there. Brought it back about a week and a half later overnight so they could do the cold startup. Hyundai called me that morning and said my engine was failing and that i needed a new one replaced. I waited three months for the replacement engine bc it was on back order nationwide. I relieved the car back mid may on a saturday. That following monday the car was dead. Could not start it. The car was towed to hyundai, and the battery was dead. Hyundai replaced the battery. About two weeks later i started having issues while idling and in gear. The engine was skating and my rpms were going over 1 just sitting. I brought the car in and they again told me there were no codes and that the engine needed to get used to the car again. Another two weeks go by and now it's getting worse and it's especially bad in reverser. I brought it back in and they said that i needed my ignition coil packs changed bc my engine is misfiring. They sent me home with my car and said it was fine to drive. A few days later i leave work and it won't start again. It was towed to hyundai and they can't find anything wrong.

My car is a manual transmission and i noticed the shift started to get stuck here and there. Within a couple days and very little driving, i got stuck and had to have it towed because it wouldn't shift at all. It only has 31,000 miles so i didn't think it could be the clutch. After 2.5 weeks at the dealer, they said it's not a recall but is a hyundai "alert", covered by warranty and that there's a defect that allows debris in which jams the shift. The transmission was removed, the shifter cleaned up and a patch kit put in to keep it from happening again. Within a couple days and less than 20 miles, i lost all ability to shift and the car when backing out of a parking spot. It started aggressively jumping forward and back with no control. I was stopped by a curb. This was in a parking lot and i could have hit a person! it would no longer start got towed back to the dealer and i'm awaiting an answer.
When driving straight at 15-25 mph, in town, after about 25 minutes of freeway driving, rpms at or around 1250, the engine shuts off and all the lights on the dash turn on. Taking it into the service center, there are no codes in the computer. The timing cap has been replaced once, because they were able to duplicate the issue at the shop, but the last two instances they were unable to duplicate so they refused to fix it. The car has 61000 miles on it and is still under hyundai's powertrain warranty.
While driving the car stalls and you have no steering power or brakes to stop. I was able to coast to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. Restart car again and as i was braking for a stop light the car stopped again. To keep from rear ending another vehicle i had to switch lane and pull off of road. No warning lights came on the car just stopped. The car would start again as if everything is okay, but stall as you slow or come to a stop at a stop light. There is a total of 13 complaints on "car complaints.com" for this same issue. Below are some of the complaints on this website:"driving the car in town at slow speeds, usually around 15-25 miles an hour, with rpms at about 1250. First noticed an issue with extremely jerky driving, but added gas and the problem went away, and i thought it was a one time thing. About a week later, it happened again. Then, a few days later, the car shut off as i was driving through a parking lot. I set up an appointment with the dealership for a week later. In that week, the car died while driving through town twice, and also as i was driving into work once. It is the smoothest shutoff i have ever experienced, only the engine dies, and it starts right up once i stop and put it in park. I don't even notice the engine turn off until i try to press the gas.""the car died 4 times, the engine completely shut off. It would throttle by itself at lights or in the drive thru.i could not drive up until no one was in front of me because the car would hesitate then jerk forward. Almost got hit from behind making a right turn because the car would not accelerate with oncoming traffic approaching from behind." "were on a very busy street and the car just died. Very hot outside, people backed up behind us. Could start the car, but when lift off the break, it would die again. Police helped us push it off the busy road into a parking lot. Our concerns - this is a new car and a part goes bad? one that makes the car quit? what if it had happen
The car had a rattle or click in the front end for years but mechanics had cleared that no concern. At 120000 miles on trip out of town and without warning, the car locked up and wouldn't drive anymore on a busy interstate!! we had it towed to mechanic and was informed that engine locked up and would no longer start! car is still out of town! and now we have to make a decision as to whether replace it or sell it, several hours away from our home! there is a civil lawyer that contacted me regarding a law suit for this exact same problem that has been occurring. However, our car doesn't qualify because it's over 100,000 miles!!:/ please consider this issue for recall because this is a recurring issue that i am finding all over the internet and it's a very serious safety issue!!!
For a couple of months now my car randomly won't start. After a few tries it finally does. I thought it might be just on colder days but it happens randomly. I changed the battery as per the suggestion of the dealer and it still randomly won't start.
At 75,000 miles, the engine started knocking.i contacted a hyundai dealer and they told me that the engine is no good anymore.they said it has "internal engine failure".i changed the oil on schedule.a well kept engine shouldn't die with that few miles on it.
The car engine shut off numerous times. The panel did not show any codes - no check engine light was lighting. Eventually the problem got worse, and the car stopped more frequently in city/street driving and on the chicago edens highway during rush hour, with no check engine light appearing.this is a very serious safety concern. Upon taking the vehicle to multiple auto mechanics for the purpose of receiving multiple opinions, the hyundai dealership mechanics told us we needed to change the engine - with no solid reasoning or incremental evidence that the problem was a) truly, an engine mechanics or other related operating issue or 2) serious enough problem to require an entire engine overhaul. When contacting hyundai america, they were not able to accept the facts of which are a very serious, immanent manufacturer concern, and more importantly, consumer confidence and safety concern. There were no recalls on this vehicle. We have entire reason to believe based on our factual information that hyundai is presenting dishonest and potentially harmful information to their customers, from the vehicle's lack of safety notification and improper response in handling the situation with the consumer. I talked with the hyundai case manager. Their system has my info and my car info, and our conversation. I had informed case manager, that i'm going to file a complaint to nhtsa against hyundai poor performance and issue resolution. Thanks for your support and your investigation. *ln
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While making a right turn at 15 mph, the engine started to stall and hesitated until it ceased. The vehicle was taken to napleton's auto park of urbana (located at 1111 napleton way, urbana, il 61802, (217) 367-1222) who stated that diagnostic testing was needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 100,500. The vin was invalid.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer prestige hyundai (768 e chester st, kingston, ny 12401 (845) 339-3313) where the contact was informed to schedule a service appointment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 64,000.
My 2014 elantra has the exact same rod bearing problem noted in the recent hyundai recall that affects the sonata, sante fe and voloscter. Yet it is not identified. I have a friend with a 2012 elantra that was also affected and she said hers is covered.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle fishtailed, struck a guardrail, spun around, and traveled across several lanes of traffic. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after approximately 45 minutes. The driver sustained minor neck and back injuries, but no medical attention was received. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to fitzgerald's countryside hyundai (27419 us hwy 19 n, clearwater, fl 33761, (888) 794-1694) where the manufacturer sent a field inspector to diagnose the cause of the failure, but no failure was found. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
After driving for an hour or so the car will shut off in the middle of a trip. No warning, just a quick engine shut off on the highway, whichforces me to shift the car into neutral to crank it back up. The vehicle is in motion when this occurs, and it's a severe safety problem.
Engine knocking started at 60,000 miles. The rods are knocking, and metal shavings found in oil pan.
While driving on interstate 8e just before pine valley, in lane one, my vehicle suddenly began making a loud knocking noise. A moment later, the oillightcame on, then the engine light and then the car stalled and could not be restarted. Luckily, as soon as the lights came on and the car stalled we were able to make it to the right hand shoulder. Once there we tried to restart the vehicle but was unable to do so. The vehicle was towed to frank hyundai.yesterday we were informed that the vehicle's engine is seized and requires a new engine. I am the second owner and have only had the vehicle for 2 yrs and it only has 87,000 miles on it. It has been well maintained. There is absolutelyno reason the engine should have seizedsuddenly as it did. All vehicle fluids were checked and operational safety checks were performedand were good prior to our trip. We are lucky to have not been hit by another vehicle when this occurred.i understandthat this is occurring in other elantras of my same year in addition to the other hyundai vehicles that have already been recalled.it my urgent request that this be investigated before someone does get injured or killed. I also request that hyundai inclued the elantras with same the affected years of the sonata and santa fe's, such as my 2014 be includedin the recall.
Motor just started knocking.
Bought my elantra gt hatchback 4 years ago with 34k miles used, good condition! i had a 2007 hyundai elantra prior and loved it so why not i thought. I have kept up with my oil changes, tire rotations, new tires etc recently this year my car started making a clicking noise, we figured it might be the oil so i replaced it, but wanted still the hyundai dealership to check it out. On my way to the dealership the car's engine light kept flashing, then when i pulled over the oil light came on and then the battery light, this had never happened before, so i had to get my car towed to the dealership. They called and said i would need a new engine basically, something related to the cylinders etc. I am trying all avenues to figure out how to get the car fixed and out of my hands, unfortunately i am not buying hyundai again, especially since reading that others have had the same issue and hyundai still refuses to add this model to their sonata and santa fe recall, ridiculous. Sorry hyundai you have lost my business since you refuse to take up responsibility for your mistakes.
There is a recall on 2011-14 hyundai sonata's and santa fe's, elantra's should also be included with this recall. The engine failed on our 2014 elantra as my 16 year old son was taking it to the dealership to get an oil change. Hyundai is replacing the engine, and extending the warranty. However i want to insure that elantras are considered as part of the recall.
I purchased a 2014 hyundai elantra gt brand new. Admittedly i put a lot of miles on my vehicle and it had 121000 miles. However, i always kept up on my maintenance and always used synthetic oil since the first oil change. After getting an oil change i was about 3 miles from the facility and my car suddenly lost rpm and the speed decreased. I pulled over to the side of the road and turned my vehicle off. No lights came on, not engine or oil. I turned the vehicle back on and suddenly the engine started making a rattling noise. I called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed to my local garage. That mechanic said he thought it was the timing chain. I then had the car towed to dickson city hyundai. There, they said i needed a new engine. I began speaking with a representative from hyundai customer care. I ended up having to pay half of the engine replacement and labor costs. My portion was $3250. This is completely ridiculous that a vehicle always maintained would have the engine gone a month before the five year anniversary of purchasing it. I will never buy another hyundai in my life.
My car started making a rattling noise in the engine. It then stalled when i came to a stop. I was on a side street and was able to restart it, but every time i came to a stop or slowed down it would stall. I was lucky i was able to make it to the side of the highway every time it stalled (it stalled several times in the 2 days before i could get it to the mechanic) i made an appointment with a mechanic and they told me i need a new engine. My car has 57714 miles on it and is regularly maintained. I called a hyundai dealership and they told me since i was the second owner that it was not covered under warranty. The warranty i purchased when i bought the car will cover half the cost of a new engine.
The car was in motion on a street. It kept jumping and would not accelerate, the steering wheel got really hard to move. It makes a clicking noise when i try to turn it on, when i turn on the car white smoke that smells really strong starts coming out of the exhaust and the car won't drive, if i put it on drive it jumps a lot and turns off by itself. I have read an article in which many users of the hyundai elantra from the years 2011 to 2015 have this same motor issues. Something is not right with the engine. Even before this happened, the steering wheel feels really rough, its not smooth its not easy to move the steering wheel especially when making a u- turn or turning on a street, i have to pull really hard to make turns, i don't think this is safe.
I drove to work (45 miles) parked and went into my office. I came out approximately 10 minutes later to get my briefcase and my car was smoking under the hood and the engine ignited. The car was parked , locked and a fire started on the engine.i have multiple witness and the columbia fire dept.
Had an issue with the engine stalling at low speeds or complete stop.this would happen on city streets.it happened several times over a period of days.i took it to a mechanic friend and he said it was something to do with the power brakes putting air into the engine so i replaced the booster.the next time i went driving it did it again in about an hour.took it to a mechanic who sent it to vandergriff hyundai in arlington, texas.their diagnoses was that it needed a new timing chain and other parts associated with the timing chain.with all the expenses involved the mechanic said he could get a used engine for just a little more than he could fix the timing chain for but still much cheaper than the dealer would to replace just the timing chain.i had the new engine installed but transmission stopped working after about 8 hours of driving.then i had the transmission replaced.this mechanic was not a highly skilled mechanic.long story short.attempting to get the stalling problem fixed.i had a new engine installed, a new transmission, and another engine.the mechanic lost the ambient temperature sensor so the a/c wouldn't work.the humidity built up in the car during a rain storm.i couldn't see and got stuck in high water blowing out that engine. Now it was cool so i didn't need the a/c.but when the weather got warmer i went to another mechanic and he replaced the ambient temperature sensor so the a/c would work.but now the car is stalling again.same problem.so the diagnosis by vandergriff hyundai was obviously incorrect and it looks like others have had this same problem.
2014 elantra gt manual 6 speed, purchased 8/6/18 with 31,636 miles from a non hyundai dealer in massachusetts. I live in upstate ny. The car came with a 90 day or 3,750 mile dealer warranty, and is still under the factory warranty up to 60,000 miles. I'm the 2nd owner. At approx 34,500 miles, on 10/5/18, while accelerating uphill, the engine began to make a sharp and loud rapping and squealing noise and lost power. I was in heavy traffic on a country road with no where to stop, but i managed to pull over after coasting downhill for approximately one mile. I checked the engine oil immediately and there was no oil showing on the dipstick. I called my wife to come and pick me up and asked her to bring 3 quarts of sae 5-20 oil as indicated on the fill cap. It took 2 quarts of added oil for any oil to show on the dipstick, indicating that there had been significant and excessive oil consumption in the 2 months from my date of purchase, at which time the dipstick indicated that the oil was at the full level. The car had an oil change prior to my purchase per the salesman at the dealership where i bought the car. There were no warning lights on prior to the engine failure, and non came on afterward. The car is at a local hyundai dealer being diagnosed. The hyundai dealer provided me with a loaner car "for the duration", that they told me was included as part of the factory warranty and would be free of charge. I suspect a crankshaft bearing, con rod bearing and/or wrist pin failure, and seized piston(s) due to oil starvation.
I has recently traded in my 2012 hyundai elantra for a 2014 hyundai elantra. The 2014 had started doing what the 2012 did occasionally, accelerate when i released my foot from the gas to switch to the brake to begin slowing down for a light. After i've applied the brake and i'm coasting before i need to apply it again, the car will accelerate.i used to think it was my imagination, then i read others confirming it does happen. Lately i've also had an issue with the car accelerating when i do touch the gas, the engine revs up and bolts forward like i floored it, but i only lightly touched the gas. I'll be bringing it to the dealer soon for these issues.
While driving the car, the engine would randomly shut off. This happened 3 times while driving and 1 time while stopping. When sitting in park, the oil light stats to flash. After taking it into a dealer, they informed me the engine would need to be replaced. There is only 112,000 miles on a 2014 car. It has had regular oil changes and kept in good condition. This looks to be an issue with the engine hyundai puts in their vehicles. The same problem has been reported by many people.
Engine started with "dry (no oil)" sound, which dissipated within a few seconds. Checked the oil level, was ok. Traveled approximately 12-14 miles. At highway speed of 70-75 mph, engine lost power. Let off the gas pedal and engine died, i pushed in the clutch pedal, coasted, then let off the clutch pedal and engine restarted making a very loud sound. Made it to the highway exit, about 1.5 miles. As vehicle slowed, it was apparent that the engine had suffered a catastrophic failure, sounded like broken bolts rolling around in the engine. Parked the car. When the tow truck arrived, there was a large chunk of metal, assumed and later confirmed to be part of an internal engine component, laying on the ground which had came through the engine block and making a hole in it. Required an engine replacement.
Randomly does not start/turnover.sometimes take up to 4 tries to get car started.loud rattle/metal sound when starting car.difficulty speeding up, especially when entering or switching lanes on highway/expressway.burning oil rapidly while in motion. Car burns through oil but the check oil light does not come on when in motion or stationary. Check engine light randomly goes on and off.
Engine through a cylinder, and rod through the block. Completely blow, and needing a full replacement. Very common issue with these vehicles and engines as it has come to be know.
While approaching a red light i smelled an electrical burning smell. Once at the red light i saw smoke and in the rear view mirror. I pulled over and exited the vehicle to see that the 3rd tail light was smoking. I was able to extinguish the fire. I removed the light casing and secured the wiring. On my way to the auto repair shop, my traction control light illuminated on my dashboard. The wiring for this 3rd tail light runs along the gas tank entrance and could have caused an explosion. I contacted hyundai and was told that my vin was not included in recall #13v113000 and that my repairs would be out-of-pocket.
My vehicle the right side break, back, and turning signal light keeps going out every two weeks after i change the light bulbs.
I have a 2014 hyundai elantra, i'm having problem with my left signal. I stopped @ a red light turned my left signal on. I notice my left signal was flashing fast. When it went of it cause my head lights & my lights in the inside to blink off & on. When i got home i check my lights and notice the left signal bulb in the front was burned. I went to a auto place and replaced a new bulb. It last for @ least 4 months & it went again acting up. I change da bulb again after 4 months it starts again. I took it to a dealership the bulb was change then. I notice after several months it starts acting up. I can't keep bringing it to the dealership or to a auto place to replace the bulb. Because it cost me i feel it is a safety hazard. Because everytime i use my left signal my headlights blinks off & on outside & inside of my car. I'm afraid i will be driving & when i'll use that left signal & nothing will come back on. The vehicles in front or back want see me or no what i'm doing. That's a big hazard to my life & others on the road also. My name is [xxx], when you will pull it up under the vin# it's under my mother name [xxx] i [xxx] am the driver of the car. If no answer please leave your name & a number do i can contact u back. I appreciate you taking the time to read my complaint on what's going on with my car. Have a great day & be bless.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*cw
I can hardly see 6-8 meters when driving on dark street, if i travel more than the speed of 35 mph ,i cannot see the divider unitil i come close to it. Complained to hyundai several times for few years to different dealers. None of them had taken any action and they say the lights are according to specs. The lights fall close and spread wide but they do not focus straight and far. This is happening from the beginning of the car purchased in 2014.till now it is used only during day times but recently i have started using at night times and feeling more unsecure. Many times i had to have the high beam to be safe.
My passenger light would not come on. I took the car to get looked at and the mechanic explained to me that the wiring in the light cap has to be removed and replaced.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the brake lights failed to turn off. The contact stated that the traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed but not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 16v574000 (exterior lighting) however, neither the vin nor the model year were included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
I got a tune up on my car then discovered that the misfire in my engine coils is a manufacturer defect. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible. Some times when i crank my car the engine will try to start but makes a constant sputter and then i cut it off i have to let it sit for an hour and then try to crank it again to seee if it will start. My battery, starter, and alternator are good.
When being driven and slowing down for a stop light, car decelerates and stalls, goes to 0 mph. Brake lights malfunction. Left signal light malfunctions.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, it failed to start and all the warning indicators illuminated. While the vehicle was parked, a puddle of fuel was leaking from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v769000 (service brakes, hydraulic), but the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 81,274. A repair was made on 4/16/2017 by dealership bob howard car dealership in oklahoma city, oklahoma (405-634-8900).
My daughter and i started smelling gas pulled over to see and looked under the hood of the car and noticed gas squirting everywhere turned the car off and removed the cover that is over the engine to see where it was coming from and noticed the clap that claps to the hose on the engine had came a loose i also noticed that the plastic was cracked in the inside of the hose. I had someone temporary place it back on til i can get it to the company i purchased it from.
My 2014 hyundai is a great car, except lately, i've experienced an issue that apparently is all too common with hyundai's.the gas gauge is not functioning and i was told that to repair is about 800 - 1000 to repair.i'm a college student and work part time this repair is too expensive, this is a part that should never go bad and always be under warranty, it speaks to the quality of the parts of this vehicle.at this time i've been stuck a few times without gas, when i put in the gas every 2 days i have to put more in to make sure i don't get stranded again.saving for this part has been hard for us to do.please consider this being a repair that should be taken care of by the manufacturer.it is dangerous.
Updated 12/11/2017
Bought brand new, original owner warranty verified and regular maintenance done at 5k intervals instead of 7500 miles due to burning oil within first year of ownership. Dealership has refused opportunities to inspect and repair for other warrantable defects in backup camara, sunroof, etc. Car out of service since 3-28-19, at 55000 miles clutch assembly rivets detached and powertrain failed causing a cracked rod. Car was presented to dealer. Dealer refused. Hyundai assurance refused tow to next dealer without upfront payment. Car was taken to local aamco where defective rivets were diagnosed. Oem clutch was retained for evidence. Car was examined by second ase technician, car was deemed hazardous to drive and could cause fire if rod broke and punctured engine wall due to direct injection system. Costs for repair/rental/tow approached 15000, so rental was turned in and another vehicle was purchased to provide transportation while arbitrating complaint. Its only vehicle single parent and warranty covers repair/tow/rental, but hyundai corporate and dealer have yet to provide any remedy (still as of 7-17-19) per cfr rule 703 or magnusson-moss act claim with bbb autoline was filed certified mail on 5-15-19. Bbb mediator faked phone call agreement and perjured settlement letter. Offer was never accepted because neither hyundai nor bbb are following rule 703 procedures and did not complete response form. Instead bbb assigned a specialist to personally attack and interrogate attempting to coerce me. Multiple requests for arbitration have been negated or ignored. Local bbb office in town of residence was contacted end of june. The representative that said she could get arbitration setup was fired the day after. Was told by director of operations they may not have arbitrator available and will require travel 5 hrs away to attend hearing if hyundai agrees to arbitrate?
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While making a right turn at 15 mph, the engine started to stall and hesitated until it ceased. The vehicle was taken to napleton's auto park of urbana (located at 1111 napleton way, urbana, il 61802, (217) 367-1222) who stated that diagnostic testing was needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 100,500. The vin was invalid.
Sudden, hard and dangerous downshift to i think first. You can be going slow and it could happen but it just happened to me at 40 or 50 miles an hour. You push the gas a little and no acceleration and i mean nothing and there should have been . You push some more and still nothing happens. Then all of a sudden it slams into i think first. I almost hit the steering wheel and a car behind me had to swerve. I know a bit about cars and i can tell you i'm shocked it's engineered that this can happen. I see a few people online have had a similar issue. I don't know if you'll do anything, i'm just letting you know.
The car won't start at times. I turn the key, all the lights and radio come on, no power to start the engine, no noise, no crank, nothing. If i wiggle the gear selector gently it will start. Last night it was stuck in park and i had to turn the car off, wiggle the selector a little again, and then it started and unlocked the gear selector. And yes, my foot is always firmly on the brake when i try to shift gears.
I boughtbmy car and anoit 1 month after it started having a ticking noise. Also the car will kinda stall when i'm getting on the highway where i can't get over 45 mph. Also the symbol with the (!) keep coming on and then blinking really fast. And the front end kinda shakes when it does that
Returned home from work and parked vehicle in driveway, got out and got groceries from passenger side. Went inside and about twenty minutes later was informed by neighbor that my car had rolled out of the driveway, across a 55 mph street, and through ditch into neighbors yard.when myself and three other people approached the vehicle we were astonished to see that the e-brake had been engaged and yet the vehicle rolled down driveway with no signs of tire dragging.it is as if the e-brake completely failed for a short period of time.there are other hyundai's of similar build recalled for "parking break issues causing dragging while driving and possible rollaway while parked".sadly hyundai is not helpful because my exact car does not have a current recall going.i believe that my car has an issue that is a defect of the caliber that creates the amount of damages necessary to recall a model of vehicle.death or serious injury could have resulted due to the malfunction of the parking brake in my car.my vehicle has incurred above $3,000 worth of structural and body damage from rolling away at no fault of my own.it is currently at a repair shop and i am pursuing a claim with hyundai but they are not doing what is best for the safety of consumers.an inspector should be out to look at my brakes regardless of the outcome, circumstance, or fault.instead of trying to avoid paying for my car they should be looking into if this malfunction could cause harm and property damage to other people.thank you for caring about the safety of our cars and roads.
While driving cruising at 45mph all of a sudden the vehicle felt like it went into neutral and the rpms went up to 4000 when left of the gas and gave it gas shifted back into gear. Also when you go up a hill and get to cruising speed the vehicle hangs in low gear and high rpms when let off it will up shift this is an intermittent problem. Took it to dealer 3 times on the 3rd time they kept it overnight and the mechanic finally felt it and agreed it "hangs in gear" he said "does not kick down smoothly and seems like the tcm is confused and takes awhile to decide what gear to go into". He also say " it seems worse in active eco mode and when he shifts it manually it seems fine". There has been a significant reduction in gas mileage.
After being parked overnight, sporadically the car will not shift out of park upon pressing the brake and starting the car. The little button on the shifter that you push in order to move out of park is locked and when pressed, emits a sound coming from the ignition where you put the key in. You can hear it click from the steering column each time you press the release button on the shifter. The only way to fix the problem is to turn the car off and back on again. Then the car shifts out of park normally. I cannot get the car to replicate this for the mechanic, as it only happens every few days.
Ticking noise coming from engine- failed lifters and metal shavings inside engine found in oil pan
The car intermittently does not start. Car will start after it sits for a length of time (could be hours or days) or after it has been towed to the dealership. Movement seems to shake the connection if that is the problem, into working. Has left owner stranded on numerous occasions in the last 5 weeks.dealership says that ifitcan not reproduce the problem, therefore they can not diagnose it.very dangerous for me if i get stranded in an unsafe area. Dealer changed the starter but is unwilling to try anything else.i stated that i did not want the car until it was fixed and safe to drive. Dealership told me to buy another car since "i didn't want" this car.
The rear seat belt on the passenger side does not retract.it is always loose. No one has sat there so we just noticed it recently while cleaning the car.
When experiencing an abrupt stop the passenger seatbelt tightens up and does not loosen up again without unbuckling. Has happened three times and only to the passenger side.
Both front seatbelts are difficult to latch and determine if they are secure. Several times, the drivers seatbelt hasfailed to be secured properly (come unlatched while the vehicle is in motion) due to short length of stationary portion of seatbelt. The stationary portion is too short, and located in a "hole" between the drivers hip and console. The manufacturer was contacted and they determined that the system was operating "as designed" and told me there was nothing they could do. I advised them that they designed the system that was malfunctioning, and they were failing to "own their problem". Hyundai has refused (in writing) to remedy this safety defect. I encounter no problems with other hyundai vehicles which i have operated extensively.
The headrests push my head forward into an uncomfortable & unnatural position.i am a 5'4" smaller framed driver.when seated, my head is pushed so far forward that my line of sight is the steering wheel and dash, not the road.this makes me have to continually lift my eyes from their natural position to view the road.when trying to turn my head to see while driving, the natural turning motion of my neck is hindered withlimited range of movement and awkward unnatural movement angle causing slower head rotation.the angle that my head is forced into interferes with comfortable natural breathing.i don't know about the safety of these headrests for short drivers in the event of an accident, but these aspects of newer styled headrests distract & interfere with my safe driving.the best way to avoid an accident in the first place is to be able to drive without interference & distraction.during & after my driving trip:my eyes were tired from being forced to look upward constantly to see the road, instead of being positioned in a natural forward view.my neck was tired from being forced downward, having limited range of motion and from the extra friction & effort when subconsciously attempting to put my head into a natural head position, but being hindered by the seat when i had to check for other vehicles at intersections, during lane changes and simply trying to look forward naturally.i was distracted by my discomfort in breathing for my entire trip by the strain/pressure in my neck/throat area that interfered with my breathing.i was distracted by my glasses sliding & interfering with my view because ofthe downward positioning of my head.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While parking, the contact applied the brake pedal and the vehicle accelerated and crashed into another vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was taken to an auto body shop and repaired. One month later, while parking and applying the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated and crash into two cement poles. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed later. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000. Updated 06/08/17*lj
My wife was in stop and go traffic on the highway and the brakes failed to work, and she rear-ended the vehicle in front of her. We went to the hyundai dealership nearby and they tested it for two days and could not replicate the issue. On one of their tests the engine died and the brake system failed but they had not yet hooked up the diagnostic equipment so they never captured the source of that failure. All other times the breaks and the engine worked fine. The result was that they cannot diagnose the problem.
Brake pedal stop pad broke, pieces found on the floor board. Traction on the 2014 hyundai elantra was turned on and made the car difficult to brake and stop. Brake lights stayed on completely almost causing an accident.parts are not sold in part store for replacing.
08-26-16 while pulling into a parking space at a public park while doing less than 5 miles per hour, i experienced rapid unintended acceleration, plowed through a fence, sideswiped a tree, went off a grassy median back up onto a grassy median and then bounced off of that before the car finally came to rest.my brakes did not work and i had no control over the vehicle.it is a miracle that i am not dead as the park is on a very busy 4 lane road and is usually full of children.
I was driving my 2014 hyundai elantra (that i had only had for 3 months, had 1,500 miles on the car) home from the airport, had my cruise control set on 55 for the previous 30 minutes, and i noticed the car in front of me was braking. Naturally, i pressed the brake as well to slow down, but the brakes did not work. The brake pedal was hard as rock and would not press in at all and therefore i could not slow down and cruise control did not disengage. I kept trying to press the brake as hard as i could, but the brake pedal was hard and would not work and cruise control kept accelerating. I pressed the cancel cruise control button on my steering wheel, but that did not disengage either. Just has i was shifting my car to neutral, my car rear-ended the lexus in front of me. After my car struck the lexus (my foot still on the brake pedal), i felt the brake finally press in and i was able to slow down and pull off the side of the road. The brake malfunction is still under investigation, but upon my own investigation, i found a recall of hyundai elantra year models 2007-2011 for this very issue that caused my car accident.
I was involved in an accident with a driver of a vehicle making an illegal left hand turn which totalled the vehicle and led to injuries while driving on a city street. The brakes did not operate correctly to stop the vehicle.
My dealer werner hyundai in tallahassee did the recall on my car (have receipt), but the receipt have the wrong vehicle/vin ([xxx]) which makes the recall on my vehicle ([xxx])as incomplete. Call the dealer numerous times to correct but they never did.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Additionally, after exiting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the tail lamps remained illuminated. O'brien auto park (2850 colonial blvd, fort myers, fl 33966) was contacted by phone notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 25,000.*dt *ln the consumer stated a pad fell out of the brake pedal. Without the pad, the transmission could be shifted into gear without depressing the brake pedal. This also caused the brake lights to remain illuminated. Consumer stated dealer refused to make repairs on the recall.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated he had parked and turned off the vehicle while the brake warning light was illuminated, the next morning the vehicle failed to start. The battery had completely drained overnight. The contact inspected the vehicle and found a particle under the brake pedal. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed that the contact that he was responsible for the cost of repair. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v769000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

Brakes failed in a 60 mile drive.brake petal to the floor and brake fluid warning light came on.dealer reported that a piece if road debris cut/punctured the rear right rubber- like brake line. Inadequate shielding to this vulnerable safety item. I have the item for inspection.
The brake lights remain on when your foot is off of the brake pedal.similar to the recall # 170.howeverthis model does not fall under the re-call.
I was driving in stop and go traffic approximately 30 - 35 miles per hour and i had to slam on the brakes of my 2014 hyundai elantra to avoid collision with a car that was stopped in traffic for no apparent reason approximately 8-9 car lengths in front of me and the brakes failed. The brake failure caused me have an accident as i had no other choice and no other way to stop the car except to rear end the car in front of me. That's the only way the car stopped. Instead of stopping when i put my foot on the brakes, i had no brakes at all and the car skidded over the length of 8-9 cars and only stopped when i hit the rear end of the car in front of me. When i initially put my foot on the brakes i felt a "thump" through the brake paddle and then i had no brakes. There had been rain earlier in the day, but at the time of the accident it was not raining. There was slight rear bumper to the car that i rear ended, but with the impact of the accident my car is basically totalled - front bumper and side lights were damaged and fell off of the car, my engine was pushed down, one of the motor mount bolts was totally broken off, the hood and the radiator were smashed in, valves were damaged, manifold was cracked, ac and heater damaged and i do not have any brakes as can be verified by my mechanic. For the speed that i was going in stop and go traffic i don't see how i could have had this much damage. It's unbelievable. All in all i am lucky to be alive and uninjured. I'm afraid to drive this car ever again due to brake failure.
The steering locks in the center as if there is a catch or something, what happens is, while driving your trying to keep center in your lane, as the car will either drift to the left or right, it will never stay centered, ok so while doing so, once you try to correct to center the car, the steering wheel seems to lock or catches, so as, when your trying to correct it, it takes a lot of force to over come this locking or catching in the steering wheel, so much as to, once your able to over come the locking/catching it then over corrects and causes the car to dart the opposite direction.it has caused me numerous times to go into on coming traffic or onto the shoulder, this is very dangerous, as i race dirt track, i know how to handle a car and i can say with a 100% firm conviction, that this is absolutely unsafe and a huge hazard to human life.. And this happens every time you drive it and at all speeds, though becomes increasingly dangerous as speeds increase, now also ill be making a youtube video of it soon.. 2014 hyundai elantra electronic steering dangers or something of the like.. I really hope this is resolved asap.. Peace and thanks for this forum.
Suspension consistently bounces over bumps on the freeway, sometimes so severe the car feels as if it will lose control and end up in another lane. Dealer replaced both rear shocks, which provided little improvement, as the front of the car still seems to bounce/hop over bumps at most speeds over 15mph. Vehicle still feels unstable, unsafe to drive. All dealers seem to deny there is an issue with seemingly little diagnostic work done. After checking hyundai-forums.com, found i'm not the only one to experience this unpleasant nature of the suspension after a few thousand miles. Note: car did not handle this terribly when new.
2014 elantra with approximately 13,000 miles.at highway speeds 50-70mph, the steering wheel sticks at the center position.slight pressure normally required to change lanes does not effectively turn the steering wheel enough to correct steering in order to remain in a straight line.when enough pressure is applied to correct steering, a slight pop is felt in the steering wheel.additional complaints can be found at http://www.hyundai-forums.com/md-2011-present-elantra-sedan-coupe/226066-steering-binding-sticking.html by other elantra owners.
I have a 2014 hyundai elantra which for some reason when going into a turn on a road or street that has some bumps on it the car when hitting the bumps chatters sideways. I had filed a complaint once before on the same problem now to add to the problem is the fact that just yesterday on 25 april while driving on a 2 lane road doing about 50 mph there were bumps in the road and i as i navigated the turn my car slid sideways approximately 2 feet and hit the shoulder which blew my rear tire. I just called the service station and it will be approximately $161 to replace the tire. The situation is very dangerous. I could have been hurt seriously or killed, the call was very hard to control after hitting the shoulder and blew out the tire
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle veered from left to right. In addition, the contact also stated that the steering wheel became hard to maneuver when driving straight. The contact had to turn the steering wheel left to right to unlock the steering. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where an alignment was performed; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,588.updated 06/13/17* lj*as
The issue is with the steering.
Vehicle air bags systems just went out. Also my electronic power steering system isn't working either
Hyundai elantra.consumer writes in regards to vehicle airbags malfunction during accident and other vehicle issues.the consumer stated the airbags did not deploy during an accident.
On the elantra gt, there is notable problem with the rear suspension system.when holding the vehicle in a turn to go around a curve, such as a highway ramp, the vehicle's rear end will hop if it hits a bump in the road.i imagine this happens when going straight as well, but is not as noticeable.when going around a curve, the back and will fishtail slightly causing the vehicle to become unstable in its path.on dry road, this doesn't usually present a problem as traction is restored quickly.however, on a wet or slick road the situation could prove to be more dangerous.luckily, that scenario has not happened to me.yet.there are various complaints about this issue across the internet for all models of the current generation elantra (coupe, sedan and hatchback).some people report that changing the rear shocks with better aftermarket ones seems to solve the problem.this needs to be addressed by hyundai.
The steering sticks in the center position.extra effort is required to move the steering wheel left or right from the center position when driving.condition developed at 12,000 miles.
I own a 2014 hyundai elantra limited.it handles normally when in town driving but while driving highway speeds, the vehicle veers slightly from left to right and you cannot keep the vehicle straight in center.it is hard to maneuver as the steering appears to stick in either position as you fight to keep it in the center of the road.it sticks more to the left than to the right.i am amazed that there has not been a recall on these cars because there are so many hyundai's having the same issue. I cannot put a specific date on the incident because the vehicle does this all the time when on the highway so i just picked the date that i bought the car from a dealer.
Purchased vehicle may 2013.noticed it pulled to the right severely.dealership could not duplicate.took shop foreman for a ride on 3 lane 65 mph highway.taking a left curve i let go of the steering wheel.car pulled to right and crossed two lanes.they decided to attempt to repair.all i remember is rotation of tires and i was told they could never be rotated again.car is easier to drive but not completely repaired.tired of messing with it.i hate this car and do not like driving it.there is a steering and suspension problem.i also have excessive wear on my tires, they have 18,000 miles on them and will need to be replaced soon.
My 2014 hyundai elantra has numerous issues. The car feels unsafe when driving down interstate when a very small flaw makes it seem you are losing control of the vehicle. It feels as if the back end is coming around as if it is going to do a 360 in the road. It also has a feeling in the steering wheel that it wants to lock up and have to apply more pressure to wheel and it finally breaks loose but feels uncomfortable as if you are going into other lanes. It does this in either direction. Sometimes i feel the steering is locking up and could cause a major accident. There have been many different reports of these same issues and apparently hyundai charges outrageous prices just to tell you nothing is wrong. There is something wrong with these cars and really needs attention before someone is killed.
I got this as a rental car and am afraid to drive it.every time i go over a pothole, i feel like i lose control of the car.i've never had a car feel like this and it just feels dangerous.
When driving at highway speeds in a straight line the steering sticks. As the car drifts in the lane it takes an extreme amount of pressure to move the steering wheel and then it over corrects. I have two elantras and they both have the same problem. I have been researching and see people have had this complaint since 2011.
At highway speeds steering sticks at center and it hard to unstick. Once you pull hard enough to get past the sticking it turns extremely easy making me wander all over the road.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elentra. While driving 55 mph and making a left turn, the steering wheel continuously went in a circle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to lakeland hyundai (1500 w memorial blvd, lakeland, fl 33815 (863) 682-1100) where it was diagnosed that therack and pinon and clockspring malfunctioned and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that only one part, a rubber seal, would be covered under warranty. No further assistance was offered. After speaking with the manufacturer, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 67,300.
When we drive the car the steering wheel will stick or seem to catch on something which makes it very hard to drive straight and not all over the rd like were drunk. It doesn't do it if you are turning. Only when you drive straight. It has definitely almost caused some accidents, and also tickets too! i would think that the steering would be considered a safety issue and i most definitely think hyundai would want to make their care owners their priority since we are driving their name and reputation.i most definitely want to believe that my life and safety of myself but also my kids and husband as well! thank you for taking the time to read this.
More often than not, the steering wheel will virtually lock, only allowing me to turn the steering wheel 2 inches, with increasing difficulty after that range in either direction. Making sharper turns literally impossible without having to harshly tug the wheel only effectively moving the steering wheel another 1-2inches with each tug. This goes away when turning off and on the vehicle, and has been happening for over a year now. The power steering light and traction control light both come on as soon as it happens seemingly out of nowhere.
When driving at speeds over 45 mph the steering feels as if it "locks" in the center position driving straight.not that it is stiffer to to turn but "locks' in the center position.you must use more force to get past this "lock" or null position.this is not speed sensitive steering! this seems only to happen when driving straight and trying to make small input steering corrections.when using more force to get past the lock position you can tend to over steer, which can be dangerous.
The steeringwheel sticks while driving down the road. When you try to turn into a curve you have to be very forceful with turning the steering wheel which leads to either ending up in the other lane or in the ditch. This is a safety risk and needs to be fixed. This is not just happening with my car, its happening with several. Please investigate the problem further before someone is seriously injured
Hyundai vehicles do not come with a spare tire.instead you get an air compressor and fix a flat.this is a safety concern as tire damage that can not be sealed with fix a flat leaves the driver stranded, unable to put on a spare tire and go.this presents a safety hazard as it leaves drivers stranded on the road.this should not be allowed.
Hatch door recall. On hot days the rear spoiler on the hatch door swells and as a result it will stick and jam preventing the rear hatch from opening. The jamming caused the body to dent and chip the paint, this could result in future pre-mature rusting of the body.
At 8am coming back from kinstone nc driving on hey 70 at 60mph second lane my 2014 hyundai elantra suddenly braked on me. Car started sliding from one side to another spin around twice before went down hill.
Since i bought my 2014 hyundai elanyra it has had a problem with leaking water to the inside of the vehicle on the passengers side. Apparently it's a leak from the ac hose and it's clogged? now my floor is weak and it is rotting out due to the water damage. I've had it repaired but it continues to leak after several weeks of being fixed! i've had enough!!! the water only flows when its moving around any corner... No one can sit in the front seat because they get a shower every few seconds!!!
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While driving approximately 60 mph, a loud popping noise emitted inside the vehicle. The interior ceiling cross members were visible. In addition, the front driver side door exhibited a crease near the window glass. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.
My front passenger car door handle completely broke without doing anything!

When driving on the highway or a street and encounter a curve in the road, with some bumps in the road, the car just chatters sideways. Sometimes enough to almost go into the other lane. When you hit a bump straight on it just feels like the car is bottoming out. In my opinion i really feel that the suspension system is absolutely terrible and is very dangerous as if you hit more than one bump the carliterally moves from 2 to 3 feet sideways. I have read on hyundai forums of similar situations and it seems hyundai does not acknowledge any problem.

The car sways from side to side, it is noticeable at around 25 mph and it becomes an issue reaching speeds of 70mph and above (at this pint the car sways far too much and feels unsafe to drive). I thought this could be tires, balancing, or alignment, but after doing maintenance with those three things, the car continues to sway a lot. When i go over a small bump the car shifts to the sides. Upon further online research, there are many car blogs and complains of people with the same issue with their struts. I bought the car at 48,000 and i noticed the issue then, but i thought i was being too picky. However, there is no reason the car should be doing this. Only conclusion is a poor suspension system. This could lead to serious accidents and hyundai should be looking into it.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated while driving 15 mph, the vehicle vibrated abnormally on the driver and passenger's side front of the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bob baker hyundai located at (5285 car country dr, carlsbad, ca 92008) where the vehicle was diagnosed. A cause for the failure was not provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
When going around minor bends in the road if you hit a pothole the rearend fishtails. One stretch of road that is travelled daily is a 25 mph speed limit with railroad tracks on the bend. Every time you hit the tracks the back end jumps to the right. The other day we had light snow went around a turn at a green light the back end hit a bump and almost spun me out at a speed of 15.
My 2014 hyundai elantra has numerous issues. The car feels unsafe when driving down interstate when a very small flaw makes it seem you are losing control of the vehicle. Vehicle sways at moderate to high accelerations and upon hitting obstacles, or even in significant winds or drafts. Veering slightly left or right after bumps was commonplace, but after 113,000, over the course of just a few days sway problem has become severe at accelerations above 45 mph. Have since read online about numerous hyundai owners experiencing the same problem and reporting to dealerships with this complaint.
While driving at speeds up to 55-70 mph, i noticed when i go over potholes the entire backend fish tails. I took it to the dealer i purchased the vehicle from, they could not replicate.this happens every time i hit a pothole, uneven train tracks or uneven road conditions.took it to another mechanic who couldn't either.now i'm at another hyundai dealership who also cannot replicate. I've noticed a lot of people complaining about this and now it's winter.lots of roads are horrible in illinois and i'm afraid if i hit a pothole while there is snow on the ground that my car will spin out of control and crash. I agree with another complainant that it will take a death before hyundai does anything. I saw on car complaints that hyundai is aware since the 2013 model yet has done nothing. I feel bad for giving the dealership a bad review but someone needs to notice. I do not feel safe and i went back to hyundai because i had such great luck with my 2003 elantra, also brand new. I can't say the same about my 2014 elantra, they look nicer but not sure about the quality under the body. Also noticed that the tires spin on the slightest bit of wet condition, looked that up and the hankook optimos have been given horrible reviews. Might want to rethink the model and tire used, i've owned a no-name brand tire and didn't have that issue. They may not last long but at least i felt safe.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the rear tires blew out without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle was not equipped with a spare tire. The contact was uncertain if a dealer was contacted. The contact notified the manufacturer online regarding the lack of a spare tire, but had not received a response. The contact called the manufacturer per the instructions in the owner's manual and still did not receive assistance. Aaa was able to tow the vehicle and assisted with the blowout failure. The vin and failure mileage were not available.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the traction control warning light illuminated as the vehicle decelerated to 40 mph. The contact mentioned that when the traction control warning light shut off, the vehicle resumed to normal. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the repairs were unknown and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.
Car randomly comes to a complete stop while driving it at low speeds. All lights come on and vehicle does not move. I turned vehicle off and vehicles starts back up again. Occurred multiple times in several days. Hyundai told me they cannot diagnose the issue unless it replicates while in their possession.
I bought this car in 2017. The dealer passed it for state inspection, after. A day noticed a rumble in front end. Brought to dealer, was told brake rotors were warped. They replaced rotors. Problem solved. Two years later went for state inspection and rotors and brake pads are worn out. This would indicate an over heating of brakes. Hot breaks will cause loss of brakes or take longer to stop. This would also explain other complaints about brakes, and why it can't be duplicated when tested by mechanics they don't drive it long enough.
I purchased a pre-owned 2014 hyundai elantra gt on april 22, 2016. While driving home from the car dealer i heard a very loud noise, it sounded like a gun shot. I looked up and noticed that the panoramic sun roof had completely shattered and i quickly exited at the nearest high way exit. I was traveling 60 m.p.h on a straight away on highway 80 near vacaville, ca. The sunroof glass was closed but the interior screen was open. It had been raining earlier that day but it was clear and sunny at the time the sunroof exploded. I had only had the car for 3 hours in my possession when this happened.
The sunglass holder on the ceiling repeatedly breaks and hangs down blocking the rear view mirror. Less than a year or 2 after i bought this car new, the clasp which holds the sunglass holder up broke. I've had it replaced 2 or 3 times now and it never lasts more than 6 months or a year before it starts falling again. It starts just falling when i hit a bump and then won't stay up at all. Now that my car is no longer covered by warranty, hyundai is telling me it'll cost $420 to fix so we've kept it duct taped up so that we can see out the rear view mirror. This sometimes works in the winter, but in the florida heat, even the strongest gorilla tape melts and doesn't stay up for more than 5 minutes at a time.
My car is only 6 years old and it eats oil . My daughter in betweennoil changes had to put 2 quarts in the car. We use synthetic oil . This has been happening for some time now till i told my family and they mentioned hyundai had a recall. I dont see one for my car but there obviously is an issue.
Whenever i use the air conditioner or ventilation there's an overwhelming smel of mold.this occurs in stationary and when the car is in motion.
My car had less than 10,000 miles when a bubble in the tire wall front passenger side was noticed during a profesional inspection (9/23/2015). I was advised to replace the tire immediately when i called the dealership.i did so. Then during a state inspection in january of 2016 i received a call that the tire wallon the front driver's side had a bubble. My car had 17,800 miles on it at this point.this tire was also replaced and the owner of the inspection shop told me that he had serviced other people with the same make and model that had the same problems. At this point i am concerned about driving my car for fear that a tire will blow out. Neither of the bubbles were noticeable to me. They are not easily found unless someone is working on the car.i believe these tires are defective. I have read many complaints about them and feel that a recall is warranted due to danger from tires blowing out while driving.
The key gets stuck in the ignition and won't turn off to allow you to pull the key out. The only way to pull out the key is to disconnect the battery.
Brake pedal stop pad broke, pieces found on the floor board. Traction on the 2014 hyundai elantra was turned on and made the car difficult to brake and stop. Brake lights stayed on completely almost causing an accident.parts are not sold in part store for replacing.
Pulled into parking spot.with my foot on the break, i was putting the car into park.which is the only way to move the p,r,n,d,1,2. As soon as i moved it toward park, the car jolted forward hopping over the parking stump and into a light post.
Driving down freeway and car stopped running and within a minute caught fire and burnt. My son got over to shoulder and got put and away from car safely. The car is 100 percent destroyed. I had read today the hyundias have been having some fire issues so thought i would report this incident.
Hyundai elantra 2014 rolls back in park mode.
For a couple of months now my car randomly won't start. After a few tries it finally does. I thought it might be just on colder days but it happens randomly. I changed the battery as per the suggestion of the dealer and it still randomly won't start.
Went to shut car off and key is stuck in ignition.i have to use my other swt of keys to lock doors for safety...car not being stolen. No one can fugure out what to do. I don't have the money to take it to this place and that place or the time. I went to the internet and it seems to be a common problem. It seems like it should be on tge manufacturer to my it right. Really my car is only a 2014 i shouldn't have to be dealing with this issue.
Car intermittently will not start without warning, park running fine, get back in and it will not start, has happened 5 times, took to dealer under warranty and they cannot get it to replicate .. No error code... They just scratch their head and say sorry we don't know what to do... Tell that to my wife when she is stranded.
For about a month my car wouldn't start except after a few tries it then started. I thought it was due to the weather, but i later learned it wasnt. I had spark plugs changed lines flushed and battery checked at the hyundai dealership. It won't start at all.
Hyndai dealership has refused on multiple occasion's to perform the recall at a time that is at all possible.i gave them many oppertunities to fix their mistake at times i can bring the car to them and ghey are refusing.they have even reused everyday until sept 30. And any weekend after that or after 7 pm.
The panoramic sunroof of our 2014 hyundai elantra gt spontaneously exploded.we were traveling on i-75n, about 25 miles n of bradenton, fl at 65 - 70 mph in sunny conditions, temperature around 70, about 10:30 a.m.there were no cars/trucks directly in front of us and we were not near an overpass.all windows were rolled up and the automatic hvac system was on.we heard a loud boom somewhat like a shotgun blast in the ear.we looked around and saw the entire front section of the sunroof shattered.glass rained in the car - front seat, back seat.there were large chunks of glass, small chunks, and even a piece of metal sunroof assembly in the car.we were frightened but managed to maintain control of the car.we pulled off at a rest stop to assess the problem.we are now afraid of the car - even if repaired, what next?another explosion?other safety problems?at the time of the explosion, the car had approximately 3500 miles on it.we have owned the car since october 28, 2015 having purchased it as a new car from harrisonburg hyundai in virginia.

My low fuel indicator light had just turned on.was going up a very slight grade and the car stopped in the middle of the road.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning and the rpm's failed. The contact took the vehicle to family hyundai (8101 w 159th st, tinley park, il 60477), but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact sent an email to the manufacturer, but had not received a response. The failure mileage was 28,804.
I took my foot off the gas pedal to slow the car down as i was approaching another vehicle in front of me stopped at a red light.my foot was neither on the gas nor the brake and the car accelerated as if i was pressing the gas pedal.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While driving 35 mph, the driver's side sun visor released in a downward position independently and distorted the contact's visibility. The contact placed the sun visor in the correct upward position, but it would not remain secured. In addition, the failure occurred when the vehicle was not in operation. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai elantra. While driving 70 mph, a loud abnormal sound was heard. The contact pulled the vehicle over and observed that the sun roof fractured. The highway patrol was notified because the failure occurred on the turnpike. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (james hodge hyundai, 1330 n main st, muskogee, ok, 74401) where it wasconfirmed that the sun roof failed and needed to be replaced.
I got this as a rental car and am afraid to drive it.every time i go over a pothole, i feel like i lose control of the car.i've never had a car feel like this and it just feels dangerous.
The hankook h426 tires on this car are extremely vulnerable to destruction caused by minor road hazards such as stones and shallow potholes or ridging in the roadway, even when struck at speeds below 30 mph. I purchased this car in march of 2014 and have since replaced 6 tires at full cost. The last incident occurred on 1/22/2016 while driving on a snow covered road atlow speed. In every case, the sidewall of the tire appeared to be gashed. My wife is the primary driver of this car and uses it for work purposes. I fear for her safety whenever she drives this car.
At 8am coming back from kinstone nc driving on hey 70 at 60mph second lane my 2014 hyundai elantra suddenly braked on me. Car started sliding from one side to another spin around twice before went down hill.
Noticed a odd noise coming from my left drivers side tire when making a right turn. Took it too a mechanic. Left front wheel bearing was severely damaged. Had to replace left front wheel bearing at 41,000 miles. This car has not driven on bumpy roads or any accidents.
