The airbag light goes on and off intermittently. I've not had any accidents or anything so i'm not sure why it's doing this. A lot of people are complaining about the same problem on blogs on the internet. I think this should be a recall and be fixed for free.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. When the vehicle was started, the air bag indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, but was not repaired. The vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number:13v115000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, another vehicle crashed into the rear causing the driver to crash into a utility pole. During the crash, the vehicle sustained significant damage to the front end but the air bags did not deploy. The driver suffered a concussion, neck and back injuries that required medical attention. A police report was taken at the scene. No further information was available. The vehicle was towed and the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Airbag light stays on. No accidents, nothing has happened to car it just randomly turned on and has stayed on. Very unsafe to be driving in a car with my family with the chance the airbags wouldn't deploy if we were in an accident. Should be a recall.

Air bag lights randomly came on and off. Then stayed on. I was told to report this cause it should be fixed for free or be under recall.

Airbag light on

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated while traveling various speeds, the contact crashed into a wall. The contact stated that the air bag deployed much later than the crash occurred and caused him to suffer bleeding to the brain and a broken nose due to making contact with the steering wheel. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000. The vin was unavailable.

I didn't notice exactly when happened, but basically the air bag light came on and it hasn't left. Most likely the vehicle was moving.

Air bag light came on and wont turn off.

The airbag light switched on shortly after the warranty expired.after discussion with the dealership, they said the clock spring needed to be replaced, which costs around $300.if this is not replaced, the airbags will not deploy in the case of a collision.based on my own research on the internet, this seems to be a common problem amongst hyundai elantra with recently expired warranties.since this is a common problem, i believe this is a safety system defect and should be fixed for free under recall.

My 2011 elantra has no any accident, but the airbag light keep on.

Takata recall airbag light is constantly on and it sounds like allot of people having same problem. We literally turned the car on and it lit up and hasn't shut off.

Airbag sensor light has come on shortly after 110k miles, this disables the system. The car has not been in any accidents or had any issues.

I have 2011 hyundai elantra.the air bag light came on at approximately 118000 m for no reason whatsoever.took to dealer & was told car isn't part of recall, so i would need to pay for repair of approx $300.i didn't repair as i see same complaint from many owners.also, all back end of car lighting has to be replaced every 6 months.there has got to be a defect with some way it was manufactured.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator had been illuminated since october 2, 2014. The vehicle was taken to action hyundai in millville, new jersey where it was determined that the vehicle exceeded the allowable mileage to have the repairs performed for free. The vehicle was never repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

Air bag warning light stays on all the time. Hyundai refuses to fix the problem

I was driving down the road going 55 mph and my airbag warning light came on. I didn't hit any large bumps. It comes on for a few minutes and then turns off.

In my 2011 hyundai elantra, the airbag light is constantly on. This seemed like a safety issue and so i took it to the hyundai dealership that i purchased the car from and they quoted me $300.00 to replace the clock spring. After doing some research, i have noticed this is an ongoing issue with this car and that i am definitely not the only hyundai elantra car owner this has happened to. Without the $300.00 to replace the clock spring, the air bags will not deploy in the event of a collison. How is this a safety issue and therefore not on a recall list?

Airbag warning light on panel comes on when vehicle is placed in drive and engine engaged

Airbag warning light comes off and on. Dealer states the clockspring is bad. After doing some research there are a lot of complaints regarding this problem. Also found out when the airbag light is on the airbag will not deploy if there was an accident. There should be a recall on the clockspring.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the engine light and air bag light flashed as the brakes had been applied however, the wheels spun unexpectedly and the engine power was reduced resulting into a crash into another vehicle. The air bags had not deployed. The driver sustained no injuries for medical treatment. A police report was filed. The manufacturer had not sent notification that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v871000 (electronic stability control) as of december 21st, 2015 so the owner was not aware. The vehicle was unable to be driven above mid 20 to 5 mph with a drastic reduction in engine power. The vehicle was towed from the location of the failure and parked because of the failure. A dealer was not contacted yet. The vehicle was rendered unable to be driven due to the failure experienced related to the recall campaign. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was not available.

While i was driving on a non-highway street my airbag light turned on. I was not turning, i did not hit any bumps, i have no idea what could have caused it. The light will stay on for a few minutes, then it will shut off and repeat. This has been occurring for about 1 week now.

The contact owns a hyundai elantra. The contact stated that another vehicle crashed into the driver's side door. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver of the vehicle sustained a concussion and injuries to the neck and back. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 25,000. The vin was unavailable.

While driving my air bag light keeps blinking and my horn stopped working.research shows that it is related to the steering column and the part that is defective is called a clock spring?this should be covered by recall?

Air bag light illuminated whenever steering wheel is turned.

The contact owned a 2011 hyundai elantra. While traveling approximately 20 mph, the contact's vehicle crashed head on into another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed.the driver sustained severe leg injuries that required medical attention and a right knee replacement. The manufacturer was notified, but no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 23,092. Updated 10/8/14prior to the accident, the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, because the air bag light was on. She was informed, it was an electrical issue. The consumer never received a recall notice. Updated 10/15/14according to hyundai, the vehicle performed as designed. They stated the frontal air bags were not intended to deploy during every impact that was generally directed against the vehicle's front end. Frontal air bas were designed to deploy when a vehicle sustained a sufficient forward deceleration to trigger the air bag sensor. The air bag sensor reacted to extreme deceleration of the vehicle's forward movement. Based upon the information provided, it appeared the vehicle was hit at an angular impact involving lateral forces.updated 11/26/14updated 12/17/14. Lawyer on behalf of client. I recently had to slam my brakes due to a driver in front of me. And right at about a month later the acceleration to my car while in drive will not go. Took it to a mechanic and its reading a couple of codes t the sensors. I saw that in a search while trying to fix the issue that it has been recalled due to the esc. I am very upset that i was not made aware of the recall that is related to my vin number. This happens at a parking lot near chuck e cheese on my sons birthday and i had to have it towed back home. I have not been able to use my car in a week now because we are still trying to figure out wich sensor it is and if i replace it what will even happen.

The cruise control quit working, airbag light is on, and radio preset channels often are erased. Our mechanic diagnosed the problem being a malfunctioning clock spring.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated. In addition, the main driver side air bag warning sensor illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the clock spring sensor failed and needed to be replaced with a new clock spring sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The failure mileage was 76,550...updated 04/11/17 updated 10/13/2017

Airbag light is on.

Airbag light came on at wont turn off. Shop said the clock spring has to be replaced or the airbag won't deploy in a crash.

I was involved in a crash where iwas hit by another vehicle on the passenger side front fender and then was spun around and hit the back of the other vehicle on the rear passenger quarter panel, then jumped the curb and hit a tree. None of the air bags deployed. I hit my head on the window or the center post, not sure. The vehicle that hit me was traveling at approximately 30-40 mph.

The airbag light on the dashboard indicator will not turn off and the passenger airbag light does not illuminate when there is no passenger. This is a safety concern and i contacted hyundai, round rock, tx, for some information for which they were unable to relay to me without them having to computer analyze for an extreme cost. I feel anything to do with a safety concern should be investigated and analyzed without a charge. Please advise with your understanding. Thank you.

Front and back struts/shocks need to be replaced and airbag light stays on

I have receive a legal notice for owners of vehicles with takata airbag inflators.my dashboard lights indicate the either one or both of my airbags are not working. I am trying to figure out what i need to do next to solve this problem.

Front of elantra traveling at 40 mphhit another car entering 4 lane on the drivers side.(t-boned") the car was declared a total loss. None of the head , front or seat airbags deployed.

Air bag light intermittently appears and goes off on the driver dash.

My airbag light has come on a few months ago.this is an extremely common problem in the 2011 hyundai elantra.it is said to be the clockspring.hyundai wants hundreds of dollars to replace this.the airbags will not deploy if the light is on, making it very dangerous to drive this car.this should be recalled!it is worth nothing that i did not have this problem until after hyundai fixed the ecm recall.the airbag light came on as i drove home from this service.

There was no major or minor incident that would indicate an issue with the airbags. At about 07/10/20 i began to notice my airbag service light would light up after a couple minutes of driving indicating the driver seat airbag would be inoperable; however, the passenger airbag light that typically is lit "off" would not be lit indicating the passenger airbag would be currently operational. In addition i noticed that when i had a passenger the passenger airbag light ("off") would not be lit as designed and my driver seat airbag light would never turn on (indicating it being not operational.) most recently, on 07/25/20 i began to notice that the driver seat airbag would be lit from the moment i turn on the engine. It remains lit for the entirety of the drive and now the passenger side airbag seat will turn on or off spontaneously and having a passenger no longer has an effect on the driver seat airbag light.

The airbag light came on and will not go away. I have not gotten into accident nor have the airbags deployed.

The light appeared with no apparent cause.when it initially came on, my husband was driving down a main road.it turns on then will go away, only to turn on again.called the dealership and they requested i come in for a diagnostic test at $140, and i was asked to drop the vehicle off.also, this would only be for the test and i would be charged to fix the problem once discovered.this is inconvenient as i have 2 small childrenand only one vehicle.i do not understand why i am being charged for something that is a safety issue, especially when i have no accidents.

My hyundai elantra was in the parking lot, as i turned on the vehicle i noticed that the airbag light was on. I immediately contacted hyundai and they informed me that i would have to drop of the vehicle to get it diagnosed. The service department said that the airbags are not covered under warranty and that the costs would be $250. Shouldn't airbag safety be covered under a warranty? this vehicle is only 5 years old. It was purchased brand new off the lot! please help!

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving 30 mph, the brake pedal engaged independently without warning. The failure recurred twice. In addition, while driving at any speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v871000 (electronic stability control) and stated that the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,162. Parts distribution disconnect.

Airbag warning light keeps going off

Air bag indicator will not go off indicating that the vehicle airbags will not work in the event of an accident. Wires and clock spring are all ok. As i was researching the problem, i realized that many 2011 hyundai elantra drivers report the same complaint.

The airbag light came on and will not go away. I have not gotten into accident nor have the airbags deployed. Technicians believe that it is a defect with the vehicle.

Airbag is on i receive a letter saying there is warranty for clock spring i took it to the dealer and they check the car whatever they did doesn't turn off the light they told me if i want this to get fixed i have to pay to make sure what it is.1000s of people has the same problem should be free and recall

Air bag light indicates that the air bag has been disabled, this just happened all of a sudden with no real reason for it to go on. The light indicating that the airbags were disabled appeared when starting the car one morning. This vehicle was not involved in any accident for it to cause the airbags to inflate.i have looked up if this is a common issue for hyundai elantras, and i see that it is a very common complaint. It is an expensive fix and should warrant a recall as this is a major safety issue and one that will prevent the owner to require the state safety check requirements.

Takata recallmy airbag light stays on constantly and it seems to be an issues ybat is covered by warranty although my dealer quoted me $385

Vehicle spun and hit guard rail on interstate 90 head on , then also on right side but the air bags never deployed!!! we had previous accidents involving both a 2005 sonata and 2007 elantra in which the air bags also failed to deploy. In fact, the insurance companyfor the 2005 accident spent almost $10,000 to repair the car rather than total it and specifically stated to me that they would have totaled the vehicle had the air bags deployed.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact was unable to activate the cruise control. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic and was informed that the clockspring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer empire hyundai inc located at 428 pleasant st, fall river, ma 02721, (833) 345-8027, and the dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,400.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving 22 mph, the brakes failed and caused the driver to rear end another vehicle. The contact also stated that the air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer has been made aware of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.

'takata recall'(1) suspension problem.. It drifts or bounces to one side when i hit a bump or when i go into a pothole... I have had to take it to different auto mechanics to fix this but haven't gotten any solution.. Changed sway bar links, tie-rods, struts and ball joints, still no improvement.(2) steering issues - steering feels stiff when turning and sometimes makes funny sounds(3) clunking noise in front right side of car

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact received a recall notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v871000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Yesterday, february 8th 2019, at approximately 5:30 am, my girlfriend had a high speed impact (speed limit in this area of alaska is 65mph)with a moose. It was a frontal impact on the bumper/hood/windshield/roof, occuring on the front drivers side. The airbags failed to deploy upon this initial impact. Additionally, as the car left the road, there was a second frontal impact into a hardened, plowed snowbank, in which the airbags also failed to deploy. This year and model is believed to be equipped with drivers, passengers, and side curtain airbags, which all failed to deploy. She is the original owner of the vehicle, and has no other accidents or repairs previously performed on the vehicle.we do not know as of yet if a state trooper report was filled, we will be checking monday. However,we have photos that will be attached that clearly show the, airbag failure.

When the vehicle is in motion, the car when moving at a slow speed, like take off at a signal light, the car will shut down.while in motion the car will make loud noise when taking off slow.the sir bag light is on but dealer states nothing is wrong with the car.engine light is not on.this has been happening for about a month.no one can seem to tell me what is the problem is or how to repair it.i checked google for the problem and many hyundai elantra owners are having the same issues.i feel like i was ripped off and hyundai isn't doing anything about it.please help

Airbag warning indicator light on continuously.i have 10 year warrenty. I want or hope it's covered.i have maintained my car properly. As hyundai records show.

Air bag light came on and stays on air bag probably want work and that is a safety feature

Takata recall: we have have taken the car to get inspected due to engine light coming on and off and have had to make payments about different fixes that would apparently help only to notice no change and the light would come back within days or weeks and come on and off . There is a sudden change in the way the vehicle drives after the light comes on, and then goes away. This normally happened in freeways.

Airbag light comes on on a lot of this model vehicles. Dealers want to charge a lot of money to check and fix. I believe this should be a safety recall. This light comes on unexpected driving or just stationary. And the possibility of the airbags not deploying is an issue

Got my 2011 hyundai elantra in 2017 at 94k miles. Air bag light is continuously illuminated, esc light had been on for approx. 6-8 weeks. Also, none of the controls on the steering wheel work. None of the controls have worked since i got the car. No cruise control, i can't reset my trip odometer, i can't control the volume for my radio, nor can i control the bluetooth for my hands free usage. Was told by dealership that there would be a fee to have this problem looked at, but saw a hyundai mechanic by chance in a gas station and was told that my clock spring could be faulty. This is an issue, especially for commuters like myself. Also, mpg has drastically decreased. Was getting almost 35 mpg, now it's only about 25 mpg.

The airbag light is on! i've never been in a vehicle accident or a fender bender for the life of the vehicle.i can't get an inspection sticker

Airbag light came on when car is started and stays on even while starting to drive. It may come off intermittently while car is motion but mostly remains on. (the only recent work accomplished was an alternator replacement by professional mechanic a week and a half prior.)

Airbag light continuously is lit up.i started the car one day and the airbag light came on and will not shut off.i have taken it to a garage and it cannot be reset.i was informed that the air bag checkspring is defective and needs to be replaced. The car has not been in any type of crash.the mechanic stated this should be a warranty/recall item as it shouldn't just go bad.

Takata recall: three weeks ago the warning light for my air bag started going on and off. Last week the air bag warning light still on all the time.today i took the car to my mechanic and after thescan the problem in his computer, he found a problem in a electronic componentof the air bag circuit,he alsotold me that have been a recall on the air bag in that model. The problem begun when the car was moving on city street. I try to report it directly to takata recall but every time i tried, the computer does not recognize my hyundai vin number.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph and coming to a stop, the vehicle started jerking and required a longer stopping distance when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The contact received a notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v871000 (electronic stability control) however, the parts for the recall was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

2 days ago, 05/31/2017, the driver's airbag light illuminated at vehicle start and turned off during the drive. 06/01/2017, the same light illuminated and stays on. 06/02/2017, i scheduled an appointment with a hyundai dealership to check the clock spring. Dealer notified me of both failed clock spring and failed airbag unit and advised a warranty fix for the clock spring and $700 repair for the airbag. This car is 6 years old and the airbag unit doesn't just up and quit working all of a sudden. This is a serious safety issue and i urge nhtsa to research and call for a recall, otherwise owners are paying exorbitant amounts of money for a repair of something that shouldn't fail ever.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While operating the vehicle, the air bag sensor indicator illuminated, which indicated a possible driver side air bag system failure. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 64,000.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While operating the vehicle, the passenger side air bag sensor remained illuminated, which was a safety concern. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (hyundai of concord, 1051 burnett ave, concord ca) where it was diagnosed that the passenger side air bag sensor was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.

The airbag light comes on and off regularly for some days, then finally it stays on permanently. The steering wheel lights doesn't come on when i turn on the headlights. The car bounces and sway to the side each time i hit a pothole no matter how small the pothole is.

My headlights keep going out , the battery keeps dying and the car will not crank after you put gas in it with the ignition off . I have to leave the car running when i pump gas . My check engine lights comes on and off when it pleases . My tire light is usually always on , just been having lots of trouble with it here recently

Engine has trouble starting or stalls often. Was told to replace whole engine when i went in awhile ago due to issue of starting, noise and oil leak. Tpms sensor i think is shot to every time i fill up air it still suggests issue with tires. Windows also get stuck down or up.

When turning left at a busy intersection, the car stalled. I could not accelerate at all. The airconditioning was still running and the car was otherwise on but it completely stalled. I had to turn the engine off and turn it back on in order for the car to accelerate. I was able to drive it approximately 20 feet and the car stalled again with all the same characteristics as before. No check engine light came on.

The windshield wipers flew off of my car during a rain storm while i was driving.i was told by the place that repaired it that the dealership didn't fasten them on correctly.when i took my car in for an oil change the service technician said he fixed my recall as well - the car never had a recall repair notice ! air conditioner does not work - when service did oil change they tried to tell me it was going to be 415 dollars to fix the air because the discharge hose is leaking. The discharge hose costs 11.00 on the internet & valvolene instant oil change will refill the freon in your car for less than 140 dollars.the brake lights all have needed replaced consistently every other month - i'm wondering if there is some kind of short in the wiring?

My hyundai elantra has had several issues since purchasing it march 09, 2013. Chief complaints are my vehicle will not start. Took it to dealership and they informed me to pop off the shift lock button on gear shaft and my car started. Took it to the dealer for further evaluation and was informed it was a relay switch, which was not covered under my warranty. Paid $260.00 to have this part fixed and my car still has problems starting. I have been stranded several times and unable to start my vehicle. Second complaint is my car is not getting the gas mileage it is supposed to. Spoke to the dealership about this issue as well. They informed me to only use shell gasoline. I still do not receive the gas mileage i was promised upon purchasing this vehicle. I did some research and have found that i am not the only person that has encountered either one of these issues.

On 6/27/2011 the car was hard to start then shut off as it was backed out of a parking space. The car would not start for twenty minutes. The dealer test drove the car after it was towed to them and the car almost stalled at highway speed. The dealer could not identify a problem (no error codes) and decided to change the fuel pump. On 7/8/2011 the car shut off while driving through a parking lot and would not restart. The car was towed back to the dealer and after several weeks the dealer thinks the wiring harness and computer are to blame. The dealer has not located a new computer or harness as of 8/01/2011.this elantra also has had five incidences with the transmission locking ineither drive or park. We were told to just stick a screw driver in the front of the transmission console and hit the reset switch. The dealer has made one failed attempt to fix the problem by replacing a brake light switch. The dealer has since replaced the brake light switch for the second time, not sure if it fixed the problem. We only had the car back for a short time.

Car will not start some times. Dealer says nothing wrong.

Shift interlock faulty in 2011 elantra at 91,000 miles - car will not go out of park after idiling for 5 minutes. This same issue was a recall on 2007 -2010 models

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the brakes were depressed when the vehicle stalled while the contact was shifting into drive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 30 and the current mileage was 66.the consumer stated within the first week of ownership, the vehicle stalled in reverser, the same thing happened two more times after the vehicle was re-programmed twice by the dealer. On one occasion, while driving, the gear suddenly shifted from drive to neutral and stopped short. Updated 09/14/15.

My engine light came on and i took it to the local firestone auto center and they told me that the code was a p2096 and it was a service recall with hyundai. The service no. Is 13-fl-006. I called hyundai and they told me that my car was not on the list, but firestone told me it was.who shall i believe?can some one help me with this. Thanks....

The battery won't charge and causing the remotes to keep going out and i'm unable to start my car with the push start remote. The battery and remotes were just replaced in november 2020 & it is now giving me the same issues again. I came back to start my parked car & it won't start.

Car will not start. It just clicks and will not start. It is random, but progressively gets more frequent as the car gets older/more use. Potentially standing a driver wherever they are at the time it happens. It has already stranded my wife once. This is a safety issue during very hot or cold weather. Hyundai does not seem to care about fixing the issue, nor are they making any efforts whatsoever to remedy it. Dealers are not helping their customers solve the problem either. See the website below. This issue is very common. There needs to be a recall for this issue, as it is likely affecting tens of thousands of owners at the very least. A neutral switch or range switch seems to be the main culprit.http://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t40609_ds554427.

The car sensors keep going up. The crank shaft sensor is not sending a signal that the car is in motion. When pull out on to a street or highway and press the accelerator sometimes my car will stall or drop speed. I fear someone will end up running into the back of me. When i come to a complete stop the car will stall or will not accelerate. Also the car headlights and tails tight bulbs blow within 4 or 5 days after putting new bulbs in. The cam sensor for the back up camera does not work as well.

When i attempt to start the car, the lights and all electrical features come on, but the car will not turn over. This happens repeatedly and then it suddenly starts. I've read that this a widespread problem with this model and it may be the inhibitor switch.

Gear shift will not go into park or reverse.also the esc light comes on and off at times.

2011 hyundai elantra. Lawyer writes regarding notice of claim under the lemon lawon behalf of clients *tgwthe consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for a routine oil change. When the consumer returned to retrieve the vehicle, the dealer informed him, they damaged the vehicle and it would not start.the problem was determined to be the ecm. Three months later, the dashboard warning lights would blink off and on randomly. As a result, there was no way for the consumer to know if the oil pressure, rpm's, tire pressure or engine temperature were within safe limits. The cruise control and miles per gallon did not work either. Also, there was no way to tell if the abs was working.the problem seemed to be the ecm once again.when the consumer retrieved the vehicle again, from a different dealer, he was informed that the wrong computer module had been installed in the vehicle. Apparently, the computer for a vehicle with an automatic transmission was installed; when the vehicle had a manual transmission. Once the consumer left the dealership, the warning lights malfunctioned again. The vehicle was returned to the dealer again.

The knob on to turn on fan for a/c starting to not work unless i tuned it on and off. Then a few days ago, while i was idling in a parking lot, the knob got stuck with the a/c on. I started to smell burning & when i tried to turn it off the knob came off and i saw smoke coming from where the knob was. I turned off my vehicle, removed the fuse for the a/c and drove home. When i went to replace it and remove the old one, i noticed that the plug that connects to the climate control unit is also burned. The plug and the wires connected to it lead to a bunch of wires that are wired together.at this point, i am afraid to drive my vehicle, even though the fuse for the climate control unit isn't in. If i leave the unit disconnected, i will not be able to use by hazards. If i hadn't removed the fuse or if i had been on a major highway or freeway the car may have caught fire. I noticed that there are many people replacing this part. Maybe it could be a safety issue.

As i was driving the skid control light came on. At first, nothing was different, then all of a sudden my car started slowing down and would accelerate with gas being applied. Then, it started moving again. After a while the light went off, but then came on and did the same thing.

My mother came to a stop and noticed smoke and then fire coming from under the hood. Everythingin the engine compartment is burnt to a crisp.

The airbag light came on and will not go away. I have not gotten into accident nor have the airbags deployed.

She opened the door, the area from her dashboard all the way down to her gears was burned. The fire department and the police arrived and both filed reports. The fire department let the vehicle smoke out and diagnosed the issue as an electrical fire. The vehicle had a recall nhtsa campaign number: 20v393000 (equipment) for the same issue with the 12 volt accessory socket located inside the vehicle. The car will not start intermittently.after we jumpstart it, it will start for a couple of days and then not start again.this has happened four times now.the battery was tested and was rated in good condition.the cause was not because of leaving electronics on as nothing was left on.

Car will not start.have battery, alternator, and started all tested and are good.every so often go to start the car and when you turn the key to first position everything turns on.windows work, radio works, light on dash turn on.go to start the car and it does nothing.does not even try to start the starter makes no noise.you just here a clicking noise.was told be dealer that it might be inhibitor switch (range switch),that was replaced and a week later it again will not try to start.if you let it sit and come back a day later many time it will crank right over.there are many forums online with the same issue from this model.

Electronic ignition sporadically fails during very cold weather. Vehicle was parked under carport.unknown part or reason. No problem with battery or alternator. After temp increased by 10 degrees it started normally.it was about 40 degrees each time it happened.

When i went to go start my car for work it wouldnt start. Left it at home and had son try to turn on and didnt turn on. Dealership asked me to jump it started for a few days then it happened again not starting. Aaa came out move to neutralthen started. Been having this problem for the past few weeks.

Airbag warning light on panel comes on when vehicle is placed in drive and engine engaged

Vehicle randomly does not start. When key is turned to position one lights, radio, windows, indicator lights all work as expected. When key is turned to start the engine nothing happens. The engine does not turnover or even attempt to turnover. The battery was replaced the first time this happened in april 2018. At that time i had the alternator and starter checked both were functioning properly. After repeated attempts to start the vehicle it has always started, eventually; it can take anywhere from 2 minutes to 30+ minutes for the engine to engage. When it first started occurring it happened pretty often. Prior to last friday it had been a couple months since it took more than 30 minutes to start. I took the vehicle to another mechanic yesterday. Again starter, battery, alternator are all functioning properly. The mechanic mentioned that this model is known to have issues with the ignition and that i should contact the dealership, they may know what it is exactly. I've called two dealerships today, both say they know nothing about ignition problems in the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the engine stalled while driving various speeds. Also, the front and rear brakes failed intermittently. Furthermore, the electrical system warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 96,866.

Possible crankshaft angle sensor failure. Car will not start properly or stalls after starting and shifting gears. New battery installed 9/29/2018. No spark plugs or alternator issues noted after mechanical testing. There should be a recall for this problem as most mechanics cannot locate the issue in testing.

My steering wheel is scrubbing and has free play in it. It started with free play in it now it is scrubbing somewhere. And my odometer reading, horn does not work.

Car does not start - key is in ignition, lights and sensors all work - turn key in ignition to "on" position - no start. Going through several gyrations ie: jiggle the shifter, step on brake, lock and unlock car from inside with fob - then car starts usually. Car was taken to college park hyundai - service found poor connection at mps box; secured connections, no show on diagnostics. Got in car at dealership, did not start on 1st time. Took car home - same thing - not starting on first try (sometimes). Returned car back to dealership 2-24-15 - still cannot duplicate or find problem. Returned car back to dealership 3/2/15 - cannot find problem. Am picking up car today 3-10-15.

Car will lose power while driving, on occasion it can be jumped / restarted, but it will suddenly lose power again. Have towed it 6 times in 5 months. Now i'm looking for an entirely new engine. Side note: you can't put the car in neutral to tow it if there is no power, so you have to hope jumper cables will get it enough power to put the car in neutral. No manual steering either, so we had to use a tow truck several times since you couldn't turn corners manually at all the steering wheel just locks, even with the key in the ignition.

I bought my hyundai elantra new in 2011 since owning the vehicle it's been a nightmare and i get very little if any help from the local hyundai dealer. I have had numerous issues with the vehicle not starting (car is silent when i turn the key in the ignition, car cranks but won't turn over, engine starts but dies, car dies without any reason). I've brought up complaints and concerns to the local dealership but they are never of any help. I recently had to have the starter replaced but it was only replaced because my car one day wouldn't start at all. Since the replacement i am still met with my car not starting at least once a week if not more. Yesterday my sun roof would not close completely, it retracts a few inches from closing, this is not new to me, multiple intermittent electrical issues, such as is occurring now - the sun roof retracting on its own without any visible reason. Or when the gear shift is put in park/reverse, etc. Sunroof will take on a mind of its own. I'm fed up with this lemon of a car and as i see from all the other complaints online about starting issues hyundai needs to do something about it - figure out the reason why and let us consumers know.

Intermittent issue wherein the car does not start even if the battery is healthy. Lever is in park mode. The engine doesn't even crank up. Happened after parkingand i was stuck at a gas station for over five minutes. Dealer cannot find anything wrong with the vehicle and this is thesecond time in a year that i have had this problem. Last time they replaced a wire from starter to electrical.

Since i bought the car late feb. 2011 (after they release the new modeled cars in the last days of the previous year)...i have complained and inquired about an occurrence that happens with the brakes on occasion that seems to be triggering:vsm, esc, tcs, abs, brake assist and/or ebd safety systems under normal road, temperatures, speeds, brake pressure. There has been at brake delays, very loud grinding noise, and at times provided a violent push back and pumping unlike any normal abs system and those times were few but again under normal conditions no sudden breaking. The grinding sounds and feels a bit like a second after you apply pressure to the brake an anchor drops on the road and bounces and grinds against mental and the pavement. It feels like an empty brake pad (but is not) and stop as if one also. However not all the time and when the brakes are normal it feels safe. However, it happens even slowly parking in my flat smooth driveway sometimes (no sand i check everytime). I have avoided many accidents just barely when this is triggered and it most often causing double the stopping time. I end up into the intersecting streets beyond a stop sign or stop light by about half a car length. It doesn't always kick in right away with brake pressure but trips it up a second later and you have to almost trick the brake and steering to get control and stop in time. There has been too much of a process in an effort to correct it, other issues found, and multiple accident caused from it one of which cause a hospital visit and an injury leaving me will a hematoma and crooked smile still. I need help and more space to explain. Please email me for details.

I was driving my elantra when the ems elec. Stability control light came on andthe auto began to shake as i was driving. The road was dry and weather was regular. It feels as if the auto is driving on flat wheels or on ice. I lose stability in my steering. I have taken my auto to hyundai twice. They claim they there computers can't find any errors. This is an issue that randomly occur and can't be created at will. I don't feel safe driving while these incidents happen. I've found similar complaints of this issue online with other elantra 2011 customer. Hyundai doesn't want to acknowledge that there is an issue with the electronic stability control and steering.

The airbag light comes on and off regularly for some days, then finally it stays on permanently. The steering wheel lights doesn't come on when i turn on the headlights. The car bounces and sway to the side each time i hit a pothole no matter how small the pothole is.

I saw a recall for a car i traded in.will the new owner receive a notice?

My brakes light stay on and it the has something to do with the electronic stability control indicator lightit just started two days ago.

I rec a recall but this is the second recall in the past few months. The first one was fro a front-end coil, that could have snapped and punctured my tire, causing a crash. The recall i have now, is for the esc system. They tell me to wait for another letter of remedy or i can call and make an appt with the dealership. If there is more than one recall, is this vehicle safe or should i assume it will be, when remedy is done? concerned about so many recalls. Neither recall has caused an accident, yet, and i hope the current recall doesn't cause one either, before i get the remedy letter. I can't be taking time off from work either, every time i get concerned over these darned recalls. I just want to register this complaint with you. I hope this is the right place for me to file, since i haven't gotten into an accident and hope i don't

I took my car to the dealer on 3/21/2016 to have campaign 137 done per the recall notice. Ever since the recall was performed the esc light on the dash has remained on. I called the dealer and they have refused to fix it. I want to file a complaint.

My 2011 hyundai elantra is under hyundai recall 137. My vehicle has been at the dealership for regular service since 8/31/16. I mentioned the esc was malfunctioning and the service advisor indicated it would require diagnostics at an additional charge. They diagnosed the problem and estimated by phone the repair would be about $1,700 because the yaw sensor of the esc system had failed and damaged the steering column now needing replacement. I asked they request a goodwill repair since the car was just out of the 5 year bumper to bumber warranty and awaited notice. Meanwhile i reviewed the internet for the hyundai repair issues and found my car was on hyundai recall 137 for the esc system. I noted the dealers were supposed to be repairning this issue at no charge to customers under the recall. My dealer had not advised me my car was under recall nor made mention until i told the service manager. I am still without my car or a loaner as the dealer tries to get from hyundai usa an authorization to repair my car.

My grandson was making a left turn when the esc stopped the car in the middle of the road. Almost got hit broadside ,before it released.it had happen to me in july dealer made a repair, said it was a front wheel bearing and repaired under warranty.the car has a warning light on for the esc. This is extremely dangerous . I have apt on wednesday with the dealer 08 -26-2015. .....updated 12/03/15

My car has had engine light on over one year since i bought it used, different shop tried to fix it but they can't get it ,they said it is because of vehicle bad system itself so why it shakes every single time, electrical power system is not good, the heating system was down, the fixed it a couple days from now but still it isn't working properly.the problem came in when i was driving in highway i-295 maine state.

The rev light comes on and my car loses power. I have teken it twice to an authorized hyundai dealer, and it is still not fixed

The steeringwheel and car briefy moves comes out of alignment each time i drive over any size pothole or at random times. This has happened since i bought it arround july of 2013.

While driving my vehicle on the freeway traveling at speeds of about 60 mph, my tire pressure light came on, although all 4 tires were previously checked for pressure. When the tire pressure light came on, it triggered the traction control light to begin blinking uncontrollably. The engine then began to clicked loudly as my speed decreased, out of my control, to about 40 mph, although i had my petal to the floor. I then had to exit, taking local roadways as to my speed would not increase past 40 mph with my rpm was at about 4.5. After notifying the dealership and taking it in to be serviced, i was informed nothing was wrong but reset the computer just in case. Since then it has happened 3 other times with no explanation and diagnostic coming back clear.

While steering or making turns there is a popping sound in the steering column and a hesitation

Dry day, normal acceleration, traction control killed power upon entering highway traffic leaving us sitting in 50-55 mph traffic, then cleared up,twice within 3 hours. Also on same day, 60 mph on a two lane road the skid control light came on and applied the left front brake pulling me into oncoming traffic, i reacted quickly and brought auto back to my lane and turned off skid control. This happened once before.fortunately there was no traffic. The skid control light came on then went back out both times. One failure seemed to be the traction control, the other was the skid control. I suspect a bad wheel speed sending unit.so far the dealer has found nothing.

I have to hold it very tight the whole time. I'm scared for my life as well as whoever is with me. Car jerks into reverse hard.when going down road car loses power. Just acts like its not going anywhere. Very low miles onvthis car.

Engine ticking at idle and acceleration. Had lifters replaced and oil pump costing $1500. Engine continued with ticking noise. Brought it to my local hyundai dealership which is 2.5 hours away. They told me i needed a new motor. Hyundai has declined the request related to mileage and time. Really. This vehicle only has 79,000 miles on it. Hyundai currently has a class action lawsuit related to the ticking noise. Hyundai knows that the engines are faulty but refuse to put out a recall. How can you let hyundai continue to resell these cars. This is basically fraud. Hyundai elantras from 2011-2016 with the 1.8l engine are the ones affected. Hyundai doesn't stand behind their product. I have never heard of a motor going with only 79,000 miles on it. Someone needs to do something to make hyundai accountable for their faulty products. Take the vehicles with the 1.8l off the market.

I had my car for a year. When i first got my car , there was a knocking noise that came from the engine , i took it back to carmax to fix and they stated they did. My car ran good for a while and around august or september after leaving from work that same noise started again. This time it was bad and i almost got into a wreck. I took it to a mechanic they stated that i needed my engine replaced. I have seen that this is a ongoing issue with these models. I also show that there is a recall on my vehicle and my car is showing those exact signs. I have documentation of information from the mechanic and the cost of the labor and new engine

Car stalls when idling and at times when decelerating. The car starts right back up as soon as i am able to bring it to a stop. When driving at a high speed on the freeway i don't not have problems.

While driving the car, engine went into a loud whine sound and the car lost power.car would not start or even try to turn over when trying to start.we have had previous problems involving the engine and even contacted hyundai because i was told by my mechanic that there was a recall on the exact engine that is involved here, but hyundai refused to acknowledge this because it wasn't the same model car involved in the engine recall.but it was the exact engine model.attached is a letter from my mechanic

"takata recall" its was alright going to store but going back home the car just shut off and it wont start

While running in park, idling in drive, or driving less than 30mph the engine makes a ticking/knocking noise. The noise could still be there after 30mph but i can't hear it over the motor and road noise. Hyundai and kia recently recalled 1.4 million cars for this exact reason for engine failure. But for some reason this model/year is not included. Researching online, you can see that many people have had to replace the engine despite being only a few years old with low miles. My vehicle is a 2011 with 70,000 miles.

City driving; there was the usual amount of "stop and go".as i was sitting at a red light, i noticed some smoke/steam coming from somewhere outside my car.i distinctly remember looking at my temperature gauge to see if it was running hot; but it was still in the normal range.i assumed it was coming from another vehicle around me.the next time i stopped at a red light, i saw the smoke/steam again; this time i noticed the distinct "sweet" smell associated to a vehicle overheating.my temp gauge was still registering as normal, but it was clear it was coming from my vehicle.i turned the heat on until i was able to pull into the next available parking lot to turn off my car and let it sit for a few minutes.after restarting it, the temp gauge registered as normal again, so i drove off.shortly after, the temp gauge started to register the engine was overheating and smoke/steam was coming from under the hood.just as i was pulling into another parking lot, the temp gauge spiked.after i parked and let the engine cool a bit, i opened the hood and it was clear that a hose or something had burst; there was coolant spewed everywhere and i saw a small hole in one of the hoses.i had it towed to the nearest dealership; after looking at it, they said the engine would need to be replaced because some oil/fluid had backed up into it, apparently at some point during that ordeal.i believe one of two things to be the cause: either the temp gauge/component failed, therefore not notifying me of the engine overheating; or the engine was faulty.my "check engine" light was not on, and did not come on until after the temp gauge spiked.this issue cost me a total of nearly $6000 in repairs, including a new engine and the component that "talks" to the temp gauge.when this happened, the vehicle was less than 4 years old; i bought it used and had less than 2 years.

When i start the engine it makes a very loud rattling noise and when i drive and i push on gas it is rattles. It sounds more like grinding loud noise too. Motor knocks when you start it up and now for the last week when i start it the car will sputter and then shot off. Sometimes will take many times for it to even start. It will rpm very high even when i am not moving. I have had alot of problems with this car now bc of the issues i am using more gas. I have a little under 80 thousand miles on it and it will leave me set. Wondering if anyone knows of any recalls on this stuff or know what could be wrong with it and if hyundai still does life time warranty... Thanks

There was total engine failure when the car reached about 80k miles. This is known for in the 2011 hyundai elantras but hyundia has yet to recall the elantras just the sonatas. Despite constant and frequent oil changes oil sludge formed and entered the engine compartment completely rendering it unrepairable. A "new" engine had to be placed but i was warned the problem could occur again but a recall still has not been issued. This is dangerous as the engine was sputting out, misfiring and blue smoke was being released from the exhaust due to this

Car would not start.checked all connections, battery was fine.consulted internet, many complaints mentioned a faulty "range switch".hyundai should recall.clicking noise when turning right.car was at dealership on 1/9/14 at 40,285 miles.issue was not resolved.took car in again to dealership 3/4/2014 at 41,775 miles.steering column was replaced under warranty.issue was not resolved as ongoing clicking noise persists to present.

Engine knocking noise, even after engine replacement by car repair shop, engine ticks again. All 2011 hyundai elantra's engine ticks unnaturally.

Engine has trouble starting or stalls often. Was told to replace whole engine when i went in awhile ago due to issue of starting, noise and oil leak. Tpms sensor i think is shot to every time i fill up air it still suggests issue with tires. Windows also get stuck down or up.

The engine has been making a knocking noise but no one could find a problem.car cut off a few times while driving in stop and go traficthe check engine light came on and the code stated problem with crankshaft. Went to start the car a couple of days later. Car would not start horrible knocking noise came from engine.car turned over but would not start.mechanic had to replace crankshaft sensor, timing chain, crankshaft problems.have had car back a little over a month now the engine is making the same noise again and the check engine light has come back on. Have read the enginerecall for the hyundai sonatas and sounds very similar to what my car is doing. The car has 115,000 miles on it and problems started around the 113-114,000mark right after the warrenty had expired..

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. When the vehicle was started or while driving various speeds, the contact heard an abnormal ticking noise emerging from the engine compartment. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to peacock hyundai columbia (310 greystone blvd, columbia, sc 29210, (803) 799-1234) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to stivers hyundai (101 newland rd, columbia, sc 29229, (803) 419-7819) where it was diagnosed that the lifters, engine, and timing belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 35887131. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 86,000.

When going at low speeds in traffic car shuts off after pressing break too much. Car shuts off in reverse.car shuts off while making turns and hitting break simultaneously.going over 60 mph causes car to shut off multiple times every few minutes or even seconds. (worst was 9 times in under 2 minutes) car shuts off slowing down to red light. Had car checked numerous times by mechanics. Noone can figure it out. No code comes up when plugged into computer at autoshop. Alot of other people have reported this issue with same make and model

Knocking noise coming from crankshaft and engine

Our car has been intermittently not starting and rattling. We it took to a hyundai dealer three times in 9 months and paid over $600 but each time the problem continued. Finally the mechanic drained the oil and took a magnet to it. Metal fragments were pulled out. The mechanic said the car needed a new engine as the result of a manufacturer defect-same as the sonatas that have been recalled. We called hyundai to report the problem. They said since the car is no longer under warranty there is nothing they are able to do.

I started my car and it had developed a loud knock. My car has just over 82k miles. My mechanic informed me that it needed a new engine. I took my car to two dealerships and both said it was a common problem/defect for this make and model year. The dealership informed me that it was caused by a coating on the pistons coming off that eventually causes the knock and engine failure. One dealership had 3 elantras in their shop for the same issue. My car is not under warranty as i am the second owner. This defect should be addressed as it is exactly the same issue as the sonatas which were recalled.

The crankshaft pulley stripped from crankshaft!about 30k miles before we started noticing engine noises - loud ticking noises.after having my spouse park the vechicle because was hard knocks, i took it out with my daughter to take her to guitar lessons and to listen to it as i drove. On the way back to the (less than 3 miles) the engine died as there was a loud screech/knock.i restarted the enigne and drove back home.the coolant and oil was everywhere.that's when i notices the pulley was loose and i was able to pull it off the crankshaft.the oddest thing i've ever seen.the engine (i believe) still starts but ticketing does persist.not sure what happened but clearly the engine had some issues with it.there was nothing we've done with the vehicle other than normal, highway driving.i've contact corporate hyundai and they have indicated it's not longer covered and no work can be done on it.my concern - outside of 5k lost on the vehicle is this is a major concern for all the vehicles out there - especially at the lower mileage.i freaked out on the road when i heard the noises and felt like my engine completely fell apart.my safety was my concern.something is wrong with this engine and it's not just mine.if it happened to me...a similar occurrence is happening to others.i sense hyundai is not doing it's part to rectify this issue especially with such a core/critical part of the vehicle.i've lost confidence in their vehicles...especially with lack of ownership of the issues. (vehicle is still at dealership at the time of the writing).i'll be picking it up today. I"m estimating the date this happened...because i didn't mark it down.i tried to tow it myself to the dealership with my truck but i took the bumper off so finally got a real tow in to picker it up and relieved it.

Car jerks into reverse hard.when going down road car loses power. Just acts like its not going anywhere. Very low miles onvthis car.

All the dash lights go on and engine will not turn over. It has happened three times. First time it finally turned over on third try; second time had it towed to dealer and when they went to work on it, it started. Third time it wouldn't start and in desperation i tried to move steering wheel and gear shifter and next try it started.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that while stopped with the brake pedal depressed and the gear secured in drive, the vehicle lurched forward but would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.

The engine is knocking at all times

2011 hyundai elantra. Consumer writes in regards to loud ticking nose from engine. *ldthe consumer stated the dealer found debris in the oil pan and the engine needed to be replaced. The consumer stated that there are other vehicles with the same failure. The manufacturer declined to assist with repairs due to the vehicle's age, mileage, and number of owner's.

The problem with my vehicle are many. When im driving it throws me to the side for any dents the street has, bad control. The coils are bad. The engine block has a noise that gets louder and louder every time i turn the car.im not a mechanic but i know something wrong with my car control system.

Ticking sound coming from car, louder when accelerating , took to dealer and was told engine needs to be replaced at only 77,800 miles

The engine in this car is knocking severely. It's really bad upon start up and continues to knock.

Front of elantra traveling at 40 mphhit another car entering 4 lane on the drivers side.(t-boned") the car was declared a total loss. None of the head , front or seat airbags deployed.

Bought this car used in 2014 with approx 24,000 miles.ran great first 2 years but at approx 39,000 miles a very loud engine knock developed and has effected the engine performance.this issue is present at start up, idle, in motion, each time the car is running. Hyundai service mysteriously could not hear or diagnose the problem.engine knock has continued get worse and power has diminished.the engine has not yet failed but most certainly will very soon.my family is at risk each and every time we use this car.the engine problems are similar to the sonata's and santa fe's as well as the kia optima models from 2011 thru 2014 which were part of a class action lawsuit after which there was a engine recall.my understanding is that hyundai has extended warranty to used elantra models to 5 years and 60,000 miles.at this point we have only 56,000 miles but the car is 7 years old.they have a known manufacturing problem and are not owning it for all affected and that's catastrophic for those of us not covered.dealer has told me if i have engine failure the cost of a new engine will be near $5000.hyundai makes attractive cars but their lack of compassion to the victims of their poor manufacturing process makes hyundai a poor choice.there have been class action suits for the sonata and optima but no judgement for the benefit of elantra motors who's engines suffer the exact same issues.there was a whistle blower who opened this all up and said the judgement was not far reaching enough to cover all victims. Https://www.reuters.com/article/us-hyundai-whistleblower/blowing-the-whistle-in-south-korea-hyundai-man-takes-on-chaebol-culture-iduskcn18b0j5someone like the nhtsa has to step up and protect the consumers who have fallen victim to this corporate malfeasance.

Drove vehicle to dealer, boucher hyundia of waukesha after the check engine light would go on and off with codes p2096 and p0304. Codes arerelated to cylinder 3 and 4 misfires.dealer found engine making a noise from lower end and recommends an engine replacement.dealer disassembledthe vehicle to document possible financial assistance from hyundai motor america.after four weeks hma declined to provide assistance.the vehicle was reassembled and returned to the owner.the vehicle could not be driven off the dealer lot, it stalled immediately after starting.the eight year old vehicle with 126,000 miles is a unfixable and has lost market value.

Engine knocking, possible piston defect

Problem starting car. Usually have to try 2 times before it will start. Tried today 4/29/15 and would not start and check engine light came on., had no problem the day before with car starting.

My vehicle doesn't feel safe and this is the second report i make. Please contact me about this matter. Thank you!

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle jerked and lost speed. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the shoulder of the road and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact continued to drive the vehicle. When the vehicle reached 45 mph, it began to jerk hard. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. When the vehicle was started, an abnormal noise was detected. Also, while driving more than 60 mph over a bump, there was an abnormal clicking noise detected from the steering wheel and the vehicle vibrated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the cylinder coupling and engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 108,000.

Rattling/knocking noise while car is running, increase in noise as you accelerate.

My car has making noise for a while. Emailed hyundai and was told it is not under warranty and no recall for engine. Several complaints ha e been made online for this car regarding the engine which needs to be replaced.i'm afraid to drive it's my only car and i can't afford to pay $5000 for a new engine.i was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection when the car stalled and sounded like it was going to grind the engine up.

My daily driver began to make a knocking noise and my dashboard break light indicator came on. I immediately scheduled service with my hyundai dealer. But it did not make the (2) days wait. While driving at highway speed the front end began to intermittently pull to the right as if the right front brake was being tapped independently. Within minutes all of the electrical shut off and the engine stalled. I drifted to the side of the road. After several attempts the electrical did come back on but the engine would not turn over. I had the vehicle towed to closest hyundai dealer, who said the engine needed to be replaced and all that was available was a used engine with 60,000 miles on it at an approximate cost of 5,000.00 dollars with no guarantee that it may require additional repairs.

When driving it is difficult at time to regulate my speed. If i stop at a red light and then try to drive on a green light my car will jolt forward. It is hard to speed up, it feels like my car is stuck in on speed.it makes it difficult to drive on the freeway as it is slow to pick up speed.

I noticed a ticking noise coming from my vehicle.i took it to a hyundai dealership and they informed me i would need to replace my engine.the vehicle has 73,000 miles and was maintained (oil always changed on time).i bought the vehicle from my grandfather and had it less than a year.because i was the second owner, i was not covered under the 10 year/1000,000 mile warranty.the hyundai dealership submitted documentation and photographs of the engine to see if hyundai would cover any of the cost of a new engine.hyundai declined to cover any of the cost of the engine.i called customer service and was assigned a caseworker to look at the submittal in greater detail.the caseworker informed me they would not cover any of the cost regardless that many people were having the same problems with their engines.

February 26th, 2016 around 3pm my car stopped while driving on the road. I was not able to press the brake so i put the car in neutral and had to wait until the car stopped on its own. After the car stopped i tried to start the car and the engine would not turn over. There was no noise from the engine when the car died on the road.

Check engine light went off and was taken in for a diagnostic reading. 2011 hyundai elantra at 56,000 miles was showing signs of engine failure. After more research the mechanic stated the due to a defect in the way the oil lubricate the engine apparently was not filtering fast enough. Mechanic happened to mention she previously worked for hyundai and was seeing more and more vehicles come in for this and had stop covering the repairs. Problem is also seen in the hyundai sonatas which hyundai is starting to own to that.

Engine runs rough at idle .. Buy 89 octane gas in the winter time.drive shaft is defective.....buy a new bearing and drive shaft from the dealer and make certain the new one is not defective.i replaced the bearing only and it appears to be fine, for now. .......tires wear out extremely fast....buy new shocks and struts earlier than you had to on the more expensive foreign cars.

My 2011 hyundai elantra has this ticking sound coming from the engine for over 12months. I has constantly called even had the car towed 4 to 5 times to the same dealership for the same thing that the hyundai motor want and wouldn't declared the cara lemon. The car constantly would not start or when it did start while driving it would slow down and then shut completely off where i would have to restart the vehicle back up. The car is always keeped in a close garage and regardless to the weather it continue to make this loud razzing noise in the engine. Service manager chad repeatedly told me that there was nothing wrong and that it was because of the weather. Now the dealership wants me to pay 7000 dollars for a new engine

My vehicle will not start. It happens on numerous occassions and i have to try several attempts before my vehicle will start. I took the car in to be check and everything tested fine. No lights on the dashboard indicated an error and no codes could be detected. Not sure what is going on but i have a infant child and i cannot be somewhere or trying to go somewhere especially if there is an emergency with my child and my vehicle refuses to start and yet all the lights come on howeever my engine would not start upon turning my key while in the ignition. Please fix because i saw on youtube and other forums of this same complaint and i am sure hyundai is aware of these complaints but are failing to do something and this can become a major safety concern. Please address!!! 2011 hyundai elantra

Car stalls while in motion and coming to stops. Engine sounds like a diesel truck and also has a ticking noise. Constantly having to replace the headlight bulbs front and back. Also have issues with steering wheel making a winding noise when turning the wheel. My tire pressure light never goes off even when air is put in or all new tires are put on. Also constantly having issues driver side up front tire issues. Had new brakes done and shortly after there making noises again. I always have hyundai do my work on my car except i do however go to walmart to get my tires. I have had this car for about 3 years and constantly have had issues with it. I will never ever buy another hyundai again.

The contact owned a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the vehicle caught fire while parked in the family garage. There were no injuries and the fire department put out fire. A fire report and a police report were filed. Smoke filled the home and the garage drywall ceiling had collapsed and blackened the interior of the garage. There was extensive smoke damage to the interior of the house. The vehicle was engulfed in flames and full of water. The fire started on the driver's front side of the engine. The exact cause had not been determined as of yet. The vehicle 's whole front from the engine had been burned out. The glass exploded and the vehicle was ripped open using a jaws of life tool so the fire department could put out the fire from the engine. The vehicle was destroyed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage 68,000.

The vehicle experience rod knock with 57,000 and vehicle has erratic transmission shifting.the dealer explained they would cover 60 percent but my cost is still 4,000.00 for which the vehicle is only worth 6,000 on trade. Plus $600 to fix transmission problem. Requested picture from dealer but only sent pictures of metal shavings in oil pan and valve cover.

I bought my car brand new in 2011. I don't drive much at all so my car has 33,000 miles. So when my car stared making a ticking noise in the engine, that was louder when idling but never went away completely. I didn't think to much of it. Dropped it off to get looked at and that's when i found out there was metal in my engine. This meant i needed a new engine, this was about 14 months ago, so it went in for 3-4 days after waiting a month to get the part. After the replaced engine it worked well and the noise was gone, so i thought that was the end. So when the noise came back just 11 months later i wasn't happy. Dropped it off and sure enough it needs a new engine. This time it took 3 weeks for them to replace my engine. The service at my local hyundai is so bad. Everyday i called to see if my car was ready because it was supposed to last 3 days, 3 weeks later i had a second new engine. Now yesterday just 2 months later my car is yet again making the ticking noise and now is having trouble starting. I called my local hyundai to make a service appointment and had to leave a message, still haven't heard back its been 2 business days. I'm really disappointed my car is 6 years old and has just 33,000 miles and working on its 3rd new engine.

The car won't start after several attempts.this has been a recurring incident for the last several months.when it has happened i was left stranded and i had to get a tow truck in several occasions. The irony is that after the tow truck delivers the car to the destination the car will start normally.this issue is driving me crazy.i also took the car to the dealer several times and they never seem to find any problems. There are no error codes and they can't reproduce. After doing some research in the web, i see several reported cases like mine and with similar diagnostics and outcome. It seems it is related to the inhibitor switch or range switch and it has been reported on several hyundai models like elantra, sonata, veloster, etc...the manufacturer should have a recall on this issue and fix it immediately. I will never buy another one of these korean cars again.the service is awful.

The contact owned a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal tapping noise. The vehicle was taken to winner hyundai (591 s dupont hwy, dover, de 19901) where it was diagnosed that a new engine was needed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was traded in; therefore, the contact no longer owns the vehicle. The failure mileage was 82,000.

The car makes a really bad ticking noise in when i came to an complete stop the engine stalled in it kinda jumped like it didn't want to go i'm so afraid of the car jus completely not working anymore in i drive everyday with my kids this is really a sad thing hyundai has to know these engines are bad.

Car was being driven in the highway when the car stalled. Oil flow is malfunctioning in the engine causing rod problems. According to dealership it's a known problem for this make and model. I am told that the engine rods are bad and the engine needs to be replace. I contacted the warranty company however they refused to cover the repair due to tire rotations and spark plugs purchased at the dealership andwas replaced personally.

While i was driving, the car stalled. The tach reading droped to zero, and engine light was on. I tried restarting my car. I could drive slowly, but the engine light was still on, and the tach reading was still zero.this happened for a few times --- when i drove on highway, on a local street, and when i waited for a long light. If starting after a long enough rest, those symptoms might disappear temporarily.

Knocking noise on engine i have done all the oil change on time it only has 60000 miles what's going on a lot of people are complaining and hyundai is not doing anythingipayed a lot for this car months ago and now

Severe engine knocking for over 12 months when starting vehicle.the vehicle is stored in an enclosed garage year round.knocking occurs no matter the outdoor temperature.thevehicle seized up and was towed to dealer.dealer stated the vehicle was still under warranty but would not do anything to make repairs.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of engine power while being operated at approximately 55 mph. The failure occurred without warning. Vision hyundai webster (755 ride rd, webster, ny) was contacted, but the failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 12,554.

I was turning from gas station onto road, crossing 3 lanes of traffic when vehicle stalled in the middle of the road and i was nearly broad-sided. All dash lights came on, and ac and radio were on, but engine had stalled. After calling hyundai usa i took vehicle to dealership, reported as stalling at low speed and rough idle. Hyundai usa representative said no problems like this reported. Also service adviser reported never hearing of the problem when took into dealership, despite numerous reports i had printed off the internet. In fact said "we don't acknowledge internet reports as being valid".

I was told that metal shavings were found in the engine block and they also covered my camshaft position sensor. The metal shavings lead to the pistons not getting enough oil and it threw a rod, as a result of these medal shavings and little oil viscosity. The car was in motion, on the highway.

The hyundai elantra has an intermittent starting problem. This problem is hard to duplicate. The solution requires various attempts at trying the start switch along with the movement of shift lever. This becomes a safety problem since it requires numerous attempts to move shift lever from park to neutral position. When attempting to start vehicle after a number of times the power brakes take extreme pressure to control the vehicle from moving. At times, the shift lever will not move properly out of the park position and still not start. This has happened numerous times. The local hyundai service warned me if problem cannot be duplicated owners are responsible for diagnostic and service costs that would likely be $200 or more. On one occasion the car was parked in my garage for about a week along with daily attempts at trying to start the car did not start the engine. Finally it started and did not have problems during the complete summer, but once the temperature has been below 40-50 degrees f problems occurred.i am very leery at allowing other family members to operate vehicle since some may have difficulty in applying the large amount of braking force to stop vehicle from moving on an incline when attempting to start vehicle.i reviewed the service bulletin no.: tsb-12-at-022-1on hyundai elantra and kia recall nhtsa campaign number: 13v114000 . Note many kias and hyundai vehicles are similar in parts and function.after reading the nhtsa campaign number: 13v114000 about kia, i did recall incidents of intermittent failing of brake lights and intermittent esc light malfunction.

Car randomly wouldn't start this morning.

Known hyundai engine problems the engine has a ticking noise that i have found to be a manufactured issue in hyundai elantras. The camshaft bushings are worn away and needs a completely new engine. All of which is a manufacturing fault. The ticking is audible when idling and even more so when the accelerator is pushed.

The battery won't charge and causing the remotes to keep going out and i'm unable to start my car with the push start remote. The battery and remotes were just replaced in november 2020 & it is now giving me the same issues again. I came back to start my parked car & it won't start.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact noticed an odor of antifreeze coming through the air conditioning vents while driving at an unknown speed. The contact pulled the vehicle over after noticing smoke coming from the engine. The vehicle was towed to piazza hyundai of pottstown (84 autopark blvd, limerick, pa 19468 (484) 933-4074) where the contact was advised that the engine block needed to be replaced; however, the long engine block was no longer being made by hyundai and the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The contact inquired about hyundai buying back the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 85,000.

The 2011 hyundai elantra 1.8liter engine makes a grinding then whining noise in the first few seconds of the first cold engine start of the day. On the day of sales delivery the vehicle made this noise for at least two minutes which prompted me to alert the salesman and lift the hood for closer inspection. The sales man replied "all the new engines make this sound, it will quiet down." i have asked another owner of the same vehicle if they noticed it. They have the same exact problem upon cold start up. We both have video documentation of the issue which can be viewed on you tube by searching for 2011 hyundai elantra engine noise.

Engine cut off when making a turn.

At my next scheduled service (6k), i am going to mention this while my car is at the dealer, but it's happened quite a few times since i bought my 2011 hyundai elantra in april. I live in florida, and as it's summer i've been using my brand new a/c quite a lot. However, when it is on and i am at a stoplight (only at a stoplight or waiting at idle with the car in drive), whenever the compressor cycles on/off, my car will slowly move forward (and brake pedal sinks a little). I have to push on the brakes even harder to keep the car from moving. There have been a few times when i've almost hit the car in front of me. The pedal only sinks an inch or two and it only happens when the a/c compressor cycles.this does not happen everyday or at every stop light, but it happens at least twice a week during my work commute, and i figured it's worth mentioning.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the brakes had been leaking fluid out of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was repaired and the fluid was replaced. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The brake line was diagnosed as the cause of the failure and replaced. The failure recurred and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle would not start and was taken to the dealer again where the brake control unit was replaced. After driving approximately 35 mph, flames appeared from the exhaust. The contact stated the vehicle was pulled to side of the road and restarted and smoke began to flow from the exhaust and engine. The brake warning indicator illuminated during the first two failures and, during the last two failures, all the warning indicators illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

Car dealers are allowed to sell new cars with no spare tire or jack. I assume this is to increasethe potential gas mileage for advertising. Their policy is to only include a can of air which may or may not work when needed. They are also not keeping replacement tires in stock.this can of air is a hazard to keep in a car in arizona when the temperaturesin the summer reach 115 degrees. And withthe dealership not stocking the tires, my car was not drivable and strands the motorist.

No spare tire, jack, or lug wrench was supplied with this car.apparently several other manufacturers are doing the same, ostensibly to save on weight and achieve a higher mpg rating.this automobile was sold to my 21 year old daughter who had a blowout.had she been in a dangerous situation it could easily have resulted in assault and/or death froma crime of opportunity.i have filed a complaint with the consumer protection agency and with hyundai. Please stopautomobile manufacturers from practicing this potentially criminally negligent sales practice immediately.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My brakes light stay on and it the has something to do with the electronic stability control indicator lightit just started two days ago.

During the past three years i have had to replace all of the brake lights, turn signals lights, day time running lights at least every three months and when removing the bulbs they are hard to get out and the connector is melted and burnt. The turn signals will short out and then work again regularly while in motion and stationary.

My headlights keep going out , the battery keeps dying and the car will not crank after you put gas in it with the ignition off . I have to leave the car running when i pump gas . My check engine lights comes on and off when it pleases . My tire light is usually always on , just been having lots of trouble with it here recently

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the rear brake lights failed to illuminate while depressing the brake pedal. Upon inspection, it was discovered that all three brake lights were inoperable. The contact replaced the bulbs and the pedal switch however, the failure persisted.in addition, the traction control warning light remains illuminated while operating the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failures.the approximate failure mileage was 118,000.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. When the brake pedal was depressed, the brake lights failed to illuminate. The dealer stated that the brake light switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall intermittently and the engine warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel.the dealer diagnosed that there was a crack in the hose, causing gasoline to leak onto the ground. The failure recurred numerous times.the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but denied any assistance with repairs to failure.the failure mileage was 300 and the current mileage was 3,300.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that while refueling, the nozzles automatic shut off device failed to operate properly and as a result, fuel leaked onto the ground. In addition, fuel also leaked into the rear trunk area. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact planned to notify the manufacturer of the failure as well. The approximate failure mileage was 3,800.

My vehicle doesn't feel safe and this is the second report i make. Please contact me about this matter. Thank you!

My headlights keep going out , the battery keeps dying and the car will not crank after you put gas in it with the ignition off . I have to leave the car running when i pump gas . My check engine lights comes on and off when it pleases . My tire light is usually always on , just been having lots of trouble with it here recently

Thanks....

The problem with my vehicle are many. When im driving it throws me to the side for any dents the street has, bad control. The coils are bad. The engine block has a noise that gets louder and louder every time i turn the car.im not a mechanic but i know something wrong with my car control system.

Intermittent issue with starting the vehicle (2011 hyundai elantra) , mostly after overnight parking, generally from a parked, non start position. When you turn the key, a single click. You may try a second or sixth time, and the vehicle will start and run normally. It may be fine for a day or two, then have problems again even several times throughout the day. Shifting into reverse or neutral, then back into park seems to help, but only that time. After initial problem ten months ago, car was taken to dealer for testing. It was found the prior owner had replaced the starter (so was relatively new and may be proof prior own experienced same issue), battery has been replaced. Everything tested normally and issue could not be recreated at dealership. Two weeks ago, the issue began again, happening quite frequently. It is winter season again, which is a dangerous condition to not have your vehicle start, and it has caused owner to be late for work and be temporarily stranded. We have researched the issue to be related to a technical service bulletin (no. 15-at-001) stating a range sensor switch may be the cause of this issue. Vehicle will be brought in again to dealer, hoping this issue can be recreated, or they will not repair. In fact, at the first visit they acted as if they never heard of this issue. We have records from first visit and will the next for our records. A recall should be issued for all affected vehicles in this service bulletin.

Car jerks into reverse hard.when going down road car loses power. Just acts like its not going anywhere. Very low miles onvthis car.

The car will not start despite the battery being charged and no apparent issues with the vehicle which left me stranded. The vehicle only has 40,000 miles on it. This appears to be a range switch issue. I do have a drivetrain warranty; this should be covered; however, this should not be happening with as many complaints that have been reported. This should be a recall!

On march 07, 2014, my hyundai elantra was hit on the passenger side by a large jeep.we took our 17 year old grandson to the hospital to be checked out because of a headache but other than that there were no injuries.my vehicle was taken to a repair shop and now to a hyundai dealership.my concern is; there have been two (2) front axles put in my car and neither worked.the dealership said they were defective.they ordered a third (3) one and it was defective.they did not install it.now they have ordered the fourth (4) axle to install, if it isn't defective.in the meantime i have been without a vehicle for almost 3 months.i do not trust luck for another defective front axle.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving various speeds, the vehicle began to make an abnormal noise. Shortly after, the transmission dropped and fractured the axle. The vehicle was towed to the contact's house. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 144,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle independently shifted into neutral. The contact had to force and hold the gear into drive in order to continue to drive properly. On another occasions, while the vehicle was shifted into reverse, the engine stalled without warning. The failures recurred multiple times. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a crimp in the gear cable. The vehicle was repaired; however, the repairs were unknown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 27,700. Updated 09/18/15*ljthe consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. Updated 09/22/15

Coming home from work.o n the highway..the transmission shifted a little funny..didn't really pay it any attention..but soon after the check engine illuminated plugged i'm my diagnostic tool ..po711..trans fluid sensor...my issue this just not my car the dealership knows this sensor goes out and is bad and are making big bucks off the consumer because of this problem..the sensor is known to go out on the elantra model and sonata...if this sensor is not addressed could lead to trans.slipping and vehicle not moving at all.

My hyundai makes a clunking noise from the front end. It happens whenever i shift from park to drive/reverse, drive to reverse, and vice versa, and also if i speed up, or slow down quickly. I tried getting the vehicle checked out at a dealer, and i was told "i don't know why, but many of the elantra's come from factory making that noise, and we don't know why. Obviously, if it was a safety issue, then hyundai would have issued a recall by now." i was upset by this statement, because it does cause my vehicle to jerkwhen i am accelerating and breaking, as well as other strange things, so i am concerned that there is a safety issue here. I did buy this vehicle pre-owned, and it has been happening since the day i bought it. I brought the vehicle back to try to get it repaired under warranty, but i was told that there wasn't anything that could be done to fix the issue. I feel really uncomfortable driving my own vehicle when there is something wrong with it, and according to the dealer, there is nothing i can do to resolve this issue.

Gear shift will not go into park or reverse.also the esc light comes on and off at times.

My car won't start when turning the key it would make a click noisebut won't turn on unless you try several times and sometimes it would take a hour or more to do so. Two years ago changed the battery thinking it was that but after all the dealer said it was the starter so it got changed. Three years since then now i am having the same problem. Took it to the mechanic and the car looks fine everything was diagnosed and seems ok so decided to leave it overnight so they can test it next day. Once they did the car didn't want to turn on so they boosted it and said it was the battery. After changing the battery three days later the car still giving me the same problem sometimes it won't turn on. Next step will be change the starter again but mechanics can't find the real problem because once the car desides to turn on there is no problem but it is a struggle not knowing when and where this will happen, it is very unsafe.

2011 hyundai elantra with 800 miles on it.transmission violently bucks at highway speeds and then shifts to neutral.there is suddenly no throttle response at speeds exceeding 60 mph requiring the car to be coasted to safety if possible.after turning off the key and restarting, the problem appears to be gone.this has happened 2 days in a row for me.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that when trying to place the vehicle in drive it put itself into reverse. In order to shift into drive gear she had to restart the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and advised him that they were unaware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current miles were approximately 9,000. Updated 07/28/11 the consumer stated the vehicle was shifted from park to reverse to back out of a parking space. The vehicle was manually shifted to drive, but the transmission did not go into to drive, but stayed in reverse. Even though the shift was in drive. When the consumer applied the accelerator, the vehicle went several feet in reverse, before he could stop.updated 08/17/11

The contact test drove a 2011 hynudai elantra. The contact stated that a child restraint seat was placed in the rear center seat and the seat belt webbing would not remain tightened to secure the child restraint seat. The dealer was notified of the failure.the failure mileage was less than 10. The vin was unknown.

Brake peddle seems to collapse partially when i apply the brakes as if the master cylinder is failing, but it remains an issue even with a new master cylinder. I have been told it has something to do with the abs system.

My recent facebook post:hyundai owners beware. Hyundai currently has 3 recalls that affect my car by production date, yet there are "no open safety recalls or service campaigns for this vehicle". The same last year when we tried to correct the defective transmission harness issue - it somehow didn't apply to our vehicle even though the part number was identical to that which was covered under the recall. Now there's a new issue - the vacuum assisted brake booster cannister failed due to rot/perforation , resulting in brake failure. Okay folks, are we seeing a pattern here? something like this: industrial money matters, you don't. Buy our crap, buy more of it, keep on buying. We follow the rules, yet we don't. We make 155,000 cars in a calendar year and you get to pay for our mistakes because government regulations are designed in the manufacturer's favor - they couldn't care less about you.

My brakes light stay on and it the has something to do with the electronic stability control indicator lightit just started two days ago.

As i was driving the skid control light came on. At first, nothing was different, then all of a sudden my car started slowing down and would accelerate with gas being applied. Then, it started moving again. After a while the light went off, but then came on and did the same thing.

Rear brake pads separated after 50,000 miles of mainly highway driving (my honda accord, driven similarly, had brake pads last 150,000 miles). Vehicle is garaged.

On may 22nd i was stopped at a red light in heavy traffic. There was a lady in a jeep infront of me. The light turned green, cars slowly began to move and as soon as i accelerated gently the lady infront of me slammed on her breaks about 15 to 20 feet infront of me. Instinctively i slammed on my breaks as well but my vehicle did not stop. Instead it continued forward right into the back of her jeep. At the point of impact my car was going about 10mph. My foot never came off the breaks and i had more than enough space to slow down and stop. Had the breaks not failed me i would not be dealing with an accident. This is my first auto collision and i want someone to be held accountable for these faulty breaks. They have never failed before or failed an inspection. Nor were there any indicators prior to them failing to stop. The ladys jeep only has minor scratches and the whole hood of my elantra is destroyed, the radiator is caved in, grill is smashed, headlight is gone. I believe the car is totalled. The damage is most likely worth more than the car. I never even made it past the stoplight.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 45 mph and attempting to decelerate, the brakes failed to respond. The contact then crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The contact sustained back injuries from the impact. The police were called and a report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The vehicle was not diagnosed and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,000.

The vehicle was purchased new and has approx. ~76k miles in 6.5 years of ownership. It is garaged when not in use. It has only ever been serviced at the same local hyundai service center. At the 72,501-mile service, the brakes were assigned a yellow score on a red-yellow-green scale but no remedial work was recommended. Since then i have noticed no obvious issues with the vehicle's braking system nor received any dashboard indicators of vehicle issues. At yesterday's 76,184-mile service, i was told that the rear brakes needed urgent repair work. When i asked when i could bring the vehicle back for remedial work, i was told the repairs should be carried out immediately else i may lose the rear brakes. The inner rear pads were found to be coming apart from backing plates and "flapping". The rear brake pads were replaced and rear rotors resurfaced. For someone who drives conservatively specifically to increase brake life, it is extremely concerning that the vehicle's brakes went from ok 3500 miles ago, to now they could stop working imminently.for a fwd vehicle, it is interesting that the rear brakes specifically have this issue. Based on my experience, i am concerned those that do not service their hyundai as frequently as i do, may experience sudden and catastrophic brake failure of factory-installed brake pads, rotors and other factory parts without warning, with obvious implications for occupant safety.

The break switch is faulty resulting in my break lights not illuminating.

While in drive but sitting at a stop sign or stop light, the tension(?) in the brake pedal changes as you're pressing on it. The pressing leg moves so slightly that you almost can't tell its happening. But when you press harder on the pedal there is more room to do so. Wait about 5-10 seconds and there is even more room to do so. This can continue multiple times until the pedal is touching the floor. There has been three times so far where it has done this without me realizing it, and i've looked up just in time to catch the vehicle as it's rolling forward. Luckily i haven't hit anyone or anything, at least yet. This doesn't occur every time, just occasionally. Also, it doesn't happen every day either.

While driving the car one or more of the brakes get active without using the brakes . Abs start kicking and the car loose power . If i hate the brake the brake parks get really sensitive and the car start shaking . Happenedtoo many times and i took the car to the dealer for diagnostic and they said they couldn't fined any problems . From my experience this is a use sensor problem and i spoke with honda of america and they said my car and my vin # has no recall .

At 17k miles, and my 4th oil change at the dealership,i was informed that hyundai recommended the rear brakes be lubricated at 15k miles to avoid future issues with the calipers/pads/rotors. I found this to be very unusual because the front brakes should be doing most of the braking on these front wheel drive cars and they only mentioned the issue happening with the rear brakes.i told them if this was actually true then there must be a manufacturer defect as i have never had this occur with any of the other foreign cars we have owned in the last 10 years. ( 4 honda's, 2 subaru's)this dealership is actually being proactive in that they are trying to prevent higher future repair costs, they mentioned the rotors having to be replaced if this "preventive maintenance" wasn't performed.hearing this, i have searched the internet and have found the following:many people reporting rear pads wearing out way earlier than front pads, brake calipers were getting rusted and sticking, eventually seizing, overheating the rear discs and eventually damaging the rotors.there is definitely something defective in the rear braking system if hyundai admits that the rear brakes should be lubricated at 15k miles. But not the front brakes and that the rear brake pads wear out faster than the front pads.

Brakes on my 2011 hyundai elantra in a emergency, pull hard to the right . Consumer affairs said the brakes were ok as long as i do not stop quick. But if ido, the car will pull quickly to the right and dip which puts the car in the next lane of travel. This has been an ongoing problem.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra.while driving approximately 70 mph, the contact abruptly applied pressure to the brakes and the vehicle shifted abnormally to the right lane.the failure was recurring. The dealer advised the contact that the vehicle was operating as designed and the manufacturer agreed however, took a complaint on the contacts behalf but provided not further assistance.the current mileage was 1,000 and the failure mileage was 10.

After four near accidents i feel it's time to report the following. I would apply the brake and the vehicle would try to stop and at the same time speed up. With no answer from my dealeri have had to find the answer myself.the brake pedal is 4 " wide.the distance to the left side of the accelerator is 3 " and the accelerator is 2" wide. I wear a size 9 shoe which is four and one quarter inches wide. This means that it is possibleto apply the brakeand also the accelerator at the same time because of the one and a quarter inch possibleoverlap.it would be very easy to extend the brake arm 2-3 '" to the left, updated 05/18/16*lj

Air bag light illuminated whenever steering wheel is turned.

My steering wheel is scrubbing and has free play in it. It started with free play in it now it is scrubbing somewhere. And my odometer reading, horn does not work.

Power steering clicking and going out. Unsafe to drivehas less than 60,000 miles

Vehicle suddenly became difficult to steer, especially at low speeds and when braking, just left and right of center. Feels as if the power assist is either failing or resisting - requires undue effort to turn the wheel. The problem continued and dealership replaced the steering column and the eps unit.problem was not resolved, but now dealership service dept. States that even though it is a common complaint they hear about this car, and that the manufacturer is aware of it, it is "normal" for this model. They claim that there is nothing wrong with the steering, and that it is not dangerous.however, i am afraid it is potentially quite dangerous.

The steeringwheel and car briefy moves comes out of alignment each time i drive over any size pothole or at random times. This has happened since i bought it arround july of 2013.

The computerized steering in this vehicle results in the wheels being pulled to the left or right.dealer says that they can't find any problem; this is just a characteristic of the car.possible safety issue here.

My steering is lose and makes a popping sound. I was making a left turn and almost hit a car because i did not have full control of my steering wheel. It feels like its lose. July 19, 2021on thursday the 22 of july 2021 i had a mechanic come out to check it. He told me it was the steering coupling, he also said that there was a recall on that. So i called the dealership they told me i had just missed it by three months. They want to charge me $500. Hundred dollars. I don't have that kind of money. I need to go back to work and i need my car. This is a hardship please help me.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving various speeds, there was an abnormal clicking noise emerging from the steering wheel and the power steering indicator illuminated. The contact called wiesner hyundai (1645 interstate 45 n #400, conroe, tx 77304, (936) 523-6300) and was informed that the vehicle was not covered under a warranty and to schedule a service appointment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 137,883.

When turning steering wheel there's a click or popping noise. Was told by dealer it is steering column bushing and repair would be over 400 dollars. The car can be sitting idle or being driven when this occurs.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving over bumps in the road at various speeds, the steering wheel seized and the rear of the vehicle veered from left to right. The contact lost control of the vehicle. The check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle shook violently. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

When car is idling or while driving straight there is a clunking noise in the steering wheel and wheel moves slightly. This is not noticeable when turning.

I have a 2011 hyundai sonata, the problem i am referring to is related to the steering column and power steering coupling. I am aware that there have been a couple recalls on this particular problem for other 2011 sonatas but mine does not fall into this small number of recalled vehicles. I am however having the same problem. The steering feels loose and makes a clicking noise when you move the wheel back and forth, this happens both when not moving an when traveling at any speed. Tends to be worse at lower speed. I have brought this up to a service manager at a hyundai dealership already and he said there wasn't anything i could do but pay out of pocket to get it fixed. I feel this is not right because of the sheer number of these vehicles that are having this problem. They are fully aware that this is a major issue with these vehicles but refuse to do anything about it.

While driving and applying pressure to steering wheel, the steering wheel makes a clicking noise and attempts to make steering corrections, possibly due ot the electronic power steering. Manufacturer says it's not a safety issue, but makes driving a hazard.

In may my steering column started making a metallic like sound every time i turned it. There is some loose play in the steering now nothing major but the noise is very frequent when turning.

My steering wheel "pops" and when stopped at a stop light, moves loosely, but does not move the tires.it also rattles when i go over rough areas of a road.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving various speeds and turning the steering wheel, an abnormal knocking noise was observed coming from the front of the vehicle without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

When i drove (in motion) my car over potholes or road edges,my car is drifting by side to side. I had this issue from the last 6 months. I showed my car to a different hyundai dealership, but they could not find the exact reason and i spent around $2000 to replace all the parts as per hyundai's dealership suggestion. After spending this much of money i still have a drifting issue in potholes. Recently, i contacted other hyundai dealership .and they suggested me to replace steering column and universal shaft. I am very frustrated now and requesting hyundai america to take care of this issue by their side because it is really a safety concern.

A few weeks ago i noticed a popping noise coming from my steering area when i made turns.i took my car to my mechanic and he could find the actual part but knew it was coming from the power steering assist.after some research he found that a few people were having issues with the coupler inside the steering column.i have attached pictures of the the part looked like when he removed it.this is very concerning since i use this vehicle daily and transport my 2 kids to daycare.i put less than 10,000 miles on it each year since driving from home to my kids daycare and work put less than 10 miles on it a day.

The steering has a sticky spot in it which you have to pull to get out of which makes you swerve the car to do so.it pullsto the right or the left.it makes it really hard to stay on the road. It "road walks" badly. I have seen many complaints for this year model.i believe it is the vsm on the vehicle.i believe it is very dangerous i am going to end up in a wreck trying to hold the car on the road.

Clicking noise when moving steering wheel in either direction.both stopped and while driving.napleton dealer says i need to have it fixed for safety reasons.they want 325 to fix.says it's not on recall list.i feel because of hundreds of complaints and dealers acknowlegement of safety issue they should cover the cost.

I have been back and fourth with hyundai about the steering. They have claimed to fix the recall but my car is not safe to drive. The steering wheel clicks as i try to drive and i was told in june of 2019 during my state inspection it was taken care off.i recently got my brakes changed and the people serviced my car agreed it had not been fixed and in fact is dangerous.

Was informed that there is a known steering coupler issue that is covered under an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles. Unfortunately my vehicle exceeds that range and will have to pay out of pocket for said repairs. My concern is the safety aspect of this affecting my model in general, not just the mileage.

My vehicle has had several issues with the flex steering cuppling. It makes a very loud noise at highway speeds and becomes very hard to control.

While steering or making turns there is a popping sound in the steering column and a hesitation

When going over bumps in the road, especially at higher speeds, 50-70 mph, the car feels like it loses contact with road surface.making it feel like you have lost control of the car.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving various speeds, the steering inadvertently became stuck in the center position and took considerable force to move. The failure resulted in severe oversteering. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.

I have already reported my problem regarding the recall #107096 for suspension front spring coil. Nhtsa campaign id 15v629000; date: oct. 7, 2015if a front coil spring fractures, it may contact the tire, possibly puncturing it, increasing the risk of a crash...and wanted to update since i have since contacted hyundai. This was their reply:campaigns and recalls are vin specific, therefore, your 2011 elantra may have been produced in the same time period as the affected vehicles but at a different factory. Not all elantra's for this time period were recalled. Only the affected vin's.my vehicle was manufactured during the affected dates, but they are apparently only vin specific. My concern is that i had the same problem and the coil spring fractured...if others outside the vin specific are also experiencing the problem maybe they need to expand the recall for this potentially deadly problems and would like to warn others to get this checked even though hyundai will not cover the problem.

I was traveling to memphis, tn. The rear end of the car would constantly jerk out tot the left when i would hit bumps. I have taken it to the dealer several times, and was told this was a normal reaction for this kind of suspension. The problem has been constant, and during the winter, it tried to spin out of control. On several occasions i have almost lost control, and it is scary because i never know if or when it's gonna crash. I have read several other people having the same problem, including those who have had an accident. This will eventually kill someone unless something is done to fix the problem.

My steering wheel makes a clocking noise that to me feels like something is loose and i will eventually become loose and the steering wheel will no longer work which would cause an accident. Its not covered for repair nor is it a recall which it should be. Idk what to do

To whom it may concern: it grieves me to escalate this concern to the national highway safety administration.i have attempted to seek resolution with hyundai, but the corporate office is unresponsive and ignorant to the safety concern. The problem lies in the defect of the power steering coupler on hyundai elantra models that affects tires, steering, balancing, alignment. The manufacturer is aware of the defect and has either repaired or reimbursed owners of hyundai elantra for the defect up to 100,000 miles or 120,000 miles with extended warranty. I purchased the elantra at 89,000 miles and inquired about a noise in the car. The dealer ignored it, and the carfax did not have any mention of the defect.after two sets of tires, 3 alignments, and additional repair, i began to wonder after, several tires blew during my drive after loading on the groceries! how can the tires with 50% life left--all of them--blow on the road? there is nothing mentioned in the manual? sadly, during my several visits to hyundai dealerships (both in tampa and orlando), nobody at the dealer mentioned once about this issue?!finally, the local mechanic where i replaced the tires indicated about the coupler issue. I reached out to hyundai's corporate office and was informed to repair and will be reimbursed.well, i repaired the issue upon discovery at 122,800 miles, but hyundai is refusing to reimburse for the defect of their issue.i wrestle to understand how this is not a safety issue when the tires blow up on the road, several sets of tires must be replaced with alignment and additional repair?i wrestle to grasp that hyundai does not inform buyers in any way of the issue, and the dealers are silent on the issue.how is it possible?after hours of spending time on this issue, all that i would like is the reimbursement of$340 i paid to fix the defect of the car.this is not my fault!

I haven't had any accidents but i had many almost accidents. It is very dangerous and scary. I can't even go over a bump or look to the left or right because it steers off so bad. I have to hold it very tight the whole time. I'm scared for my life as well as whoever is with me. Hyundai dealership just says its because its electric steering but i think they just dont want to deal with it. I hope there is something done soon.

When i turn my car i hear a clicking sound and the steering of the vehicle becomes wobbly. I have noticed this for the last 3 months but early was only occasional but recently have become more frequent. Happens in slight turns and while street driving.last time it occurred while parking.

The steering column clicks and pops when you turn wheel. Upon research. I have found this is an issue hyundai knows about. Has an upgraded replacement part for. But refuses to recall.

If i hate the brake the brake parks get really sensitive and the car start shaking . Drove the new elantra for the first time in snow and it was hard to control. Tried not to drive it that winter and thought would buy snow tires the next winter. That summer during rainstorm the elantra handled poorly. Discovered passenger rear tire was bald. Dealer checked and alignment was within factory specs.????helpful hyundai mechanic agreed something was wrong and shimmied rearend for better alignment. Company paid for two tires. Now it handles great. Wonder how many accidents happened in cars with similar problem. Couldn't believe how hard it was to control on a road with slight snow coverage. Dealer saw other cars with similar problems. 2

While driving on the highway my car suddenly lurched and a disturbing noise started coming from the front on my car. Please see the attached problem description pdf and accompanying photos.

Steering wheel is making a noise (rubbing- popping) when steering wheel is turned. Took it in to have it looked was informed that the esc system needed to be repaired and that this is a known issue with hyundai on the elantra and other models.

Fall 2018 - loud brushing noise when i turn the steering wheel right or left.mechanic told me to take it to hyundai to fix the clock spring.did but the sound returned within 3 weeks.lived with it because it wasn't as loud as before.almost two months ago the loud sound returned.took it back to hyundai who said that the entire steering column needs to be replaced. Did not trust hyundai. Took it to my mechanic who says that there is a damaged bearing in the column.because i do not want to take a chance on guessing if the correct bearing has been found and the steering wheel motor may or may not also be compromised, i am allowing my mechanic to replace the steering column.the estimated cost is $1600.fyi the sound is loudest when i am backing out of a parking space and turning the steering column. Also when i am turning in to a parking space.it can also be heard when the car is making turns when on the road.there is a slight give to the steering wheel when driving but it is manageable.the steering wheel also will not lock.

When traveling above 40mph and going over bumps in road loss of control occurs.this creates the drive to over correct and cause traffic safety concerns with vehicles around the elentra as well as collision issues for elentra driver.

When vehicle is at any speed, the steering just off of center is a really quick jerk. Driving straight is no problem at all, but as soon as any correction is made right or left at any speed, the car quickly jerks. On icy roads, it is very difficult to control, and extremely tiring even on dry straight roads. The car is very quiet to drive and gets great mileage, but is a little scary at times. I feel there is a design error that needs to be remedied. This will kill people...

A coupler between electric motor and steering roar is torned out and it's something that make may steering vibrate and noice everytime i turn from center to right or center to left..it's $ 8 coupler but to fix you have to pay labourof $ 300 and of don't than we might end up having locked steering on the road or loose steering

The elantra has been brought back to the dealer for the fourth time to inspect clicking noise while steering to the right.the car is close to 60 k and its warranty is ending soon.so far the right axle has been replaced, replaced both worn axle washers.steering column assembly failed internal, abnormal wear.replaced steering column assembly.now the dealer states that problem cannot be found.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra.while drivingvarious speeds, the contact stated the vehicle would pull to the left making it difficult to control.the contact had to use excessive force in order to control the vehicle. The contact was awaiting a service appointment with the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified.none of the repairs were performed. The current mileage was 7,450 and the failure mileage was 7,000.

The car pulls to the left/right. The steering wheel is sticky.when the wheel is left straight, it will go straight but a small turn to left/right results in very jerky and unsafe ride for higher mileage speed. It is incredibly difficult to drive for longer period of time and on icy roads due to driving behavior.hyundai says it is because of the electronic power steering. I don't care if it is that. It jerks to left/right while driving which is painful. I have changed tires and brakes thinking those were the culprit.this needs to be fixed before someone gets in a wreck and die.

2011 hyundai elantra. Consumer writes in regards to filter and mice issues *tgwthe consumer stated mice were found in the trunk twice, last month. The dealer stated they entered through the air intake, that brought air into the a/c and heating system. In the process, they ate a filter that was part of the system.

Since i purchased the car in 2011 i have had issues with mice getting into the cabin of the vehicle in spite of always closing all windows and doors.i have also heard of a coworker's family member who had the same car and the same problem. Additionally there was a similar complaint filed recently with nhtsa (odi id number : 10477843). At every service stop, i would ask if there was any technical service bulletins sent by hyundai for the issue.on wed, 10/17 when i got into my car to go to work, there was a mouse on the dashboard inches away from me.i told the dealership this was unacceptable and that i wanted an appointment to have them locate the place where the mice are getting in.i was amazed when they showed me a large opening in the metal firewall for the cabin air filter right next to a large gap in the cowl meant to cover it.that design allows a rodent, like a mouse, uninhibited access to the vehicle cabin without any need to damage or chew the cowl to get in.i supplied foil tape and aluminum screening to correct the flaw, but i had to pay a significant amount for the labor to do so.i filed a dispute with hyundai usa and it was declined, meaning they thought it was my responsibility to correct their design oversight.if i did not see the mouse until after i was on the road, the consequences could have been much worse.

Front of elantra traveling at 40 mphhit another car entering 4 lane on the drivers side.(t-boned") the car was declared a total loss. None of the head , front or seat airbags deployed.

From passenger door handle broke in 2 pieces as i pressed handle to open my 2011hundai elantra.this is door i rarely use. What happens when same issue occurs to driver side door? i believe materials are defective for purpose.the presents big safety issue in emergency egress situation. Online saw other hundai vehicles with similar problem.car was parked under carport at time at my residence.

On or around may 29, i noticed some rust spots in the hood of my hyundai elantra 2011. Being a 2 year old vehicle, rust it something that i wouldn't expect. So i took it to global auto mall in north plainfield, nj, on june 12, 2013 to have the issue inspected and, i hoped, resolved. After patiently awaiting for about 3 hours, i received the following diagnose: "paint chip due to impact from rock kicking up on vehicle". I stressed to both the servicer advisor, [xxx], and the person that worked on the issue, [xxx], that i could not believe a simple rock hitting a hood of the car could cause rust damage. We've driven the santa fe for almost 7 years and it has no rust stains at all, even thought rocks have hit the hood and other parts of the santa fe quite a few times. Furthermore, rocks have hit a few times other parts of the elantra body and the rest of the body shows no rust damage. I do believe it's unacceptable for a 2 year car to have rust damage. Considering that global auto mall refused to address the rust issue, i reached out to hyundai on june 23 via e-mail, but hyundai refused to address the issue. I reached out again on august 12, 2013, and i include a link to similar occurrences i could find on the internet in the link http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/feds-probe-hyundai-safety-and-rust-problems-once-again-040213.html and hyundai once again replied saying hyundai will not fix the rust issue. Feel free to contact me if you need pictures of the hood of my elantra or is you'd like to receive copies of my communications with hyundai. Thanks in advance for taking the time to review this matter. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The front drivers side coil spring snapped. There is an open recall on this part for elanta's manufactured from nov 2010 till march 2011 in states that use salt as the part can quickly erode and break. Mine was manufactured 12/23/10 and has been registered in new york since at least 2013. Hyundai is refusing to fix the problem saying that my car does not meet the criteria of the recall because it was only cars manufactured in korea. My garage also believed it was because of the recalled part and submitted a claim to hyundai and hyundai came back still refusing to cover it because of excessive miles and that i am the 2nd owner (not even 74,000 miles on the car and other side coil absolutely fine). My vehicle was parked in my driveway when the part broke. I am having a hyundai certified garage replace the part but i feel that this should be under hyundai's responsibility as they already know there is a problem with that part and are trying to find loopholes to avoid fixing the problem.

Hyundai mechanic, [xxx], claimed that the shaking of the rear suspension is a "normal" feature for all hyundai elantras due to the fact that the "rear drive train is a solid platform not independent." this was the cerritos hyundai's technicians exact statement for my car's malfunction. I provided proper documentation from a professional mechanic, robert velis from rennstar motors, stating that my hyundai elantic has "erratic directional stability at the rear of the vehicle at speed bumps." this "normal" feature not only is unsettling but causes undo stress to the driver causing distractions when driving. This vehicle should be considered a road hazard, and i believe that the manufacturer should take responsibility for this unsettling feature. I am presenting my distress to you since, hyundai will not take responsibility for this issue. "erratic directional stability" is not a big enough of a malfunction for hyundai to take into serious consideration. So, who is to take responsibility: the purchaser or the manufacturer?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The suspension on my car is terribly unsafe. When driving over any bumps in the road the rear end wobbles and sways back and forth. In rain or snow the car feels like it is going to lose control on a few occasions the back end has slid out a bit causing corrective action to be taken. This apparently is a major problem but hyundai refuses to acknowledge it. I have been in for the problem 5 times with no solution.

Driving over a speed bump both front spring broke causing a front tire to be punctured.

2011 hyundai elantra.driver side coil spring fractured. I had both front struts/springs replaced. I have all parts. This is a safety issue as the missing piece can cause the vehicle to lose control. Fortunately mine broke as i entered my garage.as my local dealer could not see my car for 7-10 days, i opted for local repair.i brought my documentation and parts to my local dealer for validation.before i did anything, i verified that there was a recall on this exact issue (number 15v629000). My vin did not appear nor was i ever notified of the recall. I then began to chase hyundai for reimbursement. I will attach my communications with them. Basically i was denied as the vin was not on the list and i was further told that they do not reimburse for non dealer repairs which is incorrect, as i started my process on their campaign website which addresses reimbursement.

Front and back struts/shocks need to be replaced and airbag light stays on

Front of elantra traveling at 40 mphhit another car entering 4 lane on the drivers side.(t-boned") the car was declared a total loss. None of the head , front or seat airbags deployed.

When traveling at highway speeds, if you go over a dip in the road or a pot hole the left rear tire/suspension bottoms out causing the car to sway or almost jump to the left or the right side.it's almost like the car bottoms out and the wheel comes off of the pavement.it happens constantly.if i go over a speed bump at very slow speeds the left rear suspension bottoms out and you feel and hear it bottoming out.it's terrible.there is a defect.i have never had a car do this.hyundai said they can't find anything wrong.i have read many posts online about the same thing happening to other elantra owners.to hyundai, address this problem!!!!!!!

Was driving the car and felt something rubbing the tire. Took it to a mechanic and he said the driver's side front coil spring broke and dug a groove in the tire. Had it replaced and noticed there was a recall for this year make and model. It was for vin numbers that started with kmhd which mine does. I called hyundai customer care and they said it wasn't for my specific vin number. I explained that it was same vehicle and not just coincidence that it's exactly what happened as in the recall. They told me to submit a bunch of documents showing repair bill, proof of payment and proof of ownership and have the repair inspected by a hyundai dealer. After jumping through all these hoops for possible reimbursement, i was told they wont reimburse because it's vin specific. (then why did they make me go through all that?) if the vehicle had been driven much longer it would have punctured the tire. Furthermore if my son had been on the highway doing 55mph and that happened, i believe it would have veered the car into oncoming traffic. I sure hope no one gets injured or worse because they didn't recall all of the 2011 hyundai elantras and only certain ones.i will keep fighting until i get reimbursed and will never purchase another hyundai vehicle. It was for campaign133

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While another driver was operating the vehicle, an abnormal noise was heard. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that a front coil spring was fractured. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was remedied under nhtsa campaign number: 15v629000 (suspension). In addition, the contact noted hyundai only replaced the front driver side strut and coil spring; however, the front passenger side coil spring and strut were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Well driving i started to hear a clanking noise and pulled over. I looked under my car to see a piece of metal hanging under my car. Long story short my front driver side spring snapped and punctured my wheel. I took it to the dealership to have it fixed and was told there was a recall on that part, after doing some investigation they told me even tho there was a recall on my exact make and model my vin wasn't one of the cars being covered. Is there anything i can do to fight this!?

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the tire anchor sensor warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

The front coil spring on my elantra broke as i backed up out of my driveway and punctured my tire. There is a recall on this issue hyundai recall #133 nhtsa campaign #1sv629000. I have contacted multiple dealers and hyundai customer care as to why my vehicle does not apply to this recall even though my car meets all the criteria. They could not give me an answer and i was told there is nothing they can do.

According to my mechanic, rust on my coil spring caused it to fracture while driving and puncture my tire. My mechanic said it was "crazy" because there was a fresh fracture from it "snapping". I did some research and it sounds just like hyundai recall #133. This recall involved rusting of the coil spring to 2011 hyundai elantras in states that use salt for snow removal, such as minnesota. I live in mn, so i called hyundai to see if my car was included in the recall. They said it was not. I am wondering if it should have been considering there were known and similar issues with other vehicles of the same year, make, and model in minnesota. It should be noted, my vehicle was originally purchased in another state (i think louisiana or mississippi) and was not brought up to minnesota until 2013. After which i purchased it.

The front suspension coil springs snapped and ruptured both my front tires. It seems the front coil springs get brittle in the winter and actually splintered off when they snapped, this caused the rupture to my tires. I was very lucky to have been in a parking garage, going five mph, when the damage happened. It was merely caused by driving down a parking ramp. So, it wasn't caused by some tremendous trauma to the car or accident. This is a serious issue, and now each side will cause $1036.00 to fix (because i have to replace each side tire as well). The issue would have been exacerbated had i been on a highway when this happened, and could have been very dangerous.

I was driving to work inpittsburgh. While in motion, my passenger side spring split in half, severing the passenger side tire.the spring broke instantly without warning and left me stranded in heavy am traffic.i am requesting full reimbursement for all damages and a full day of work tha was missed because of this major malfunction.

Both front coils broke of the entire strut assembly needed to be replaced. One of the coil spring fractured and ruptured the front passenger tire. This happen drive at 20 mph on a city street.

While driving on the highway my car suddenly lurched and a disturbing noise started coming from the front on my car. Please see the attached problem description pdf and accompanying photos.

When traveling above 40mph and going over bumps in road loss of control occurs.this creates the drive to over correct and cause traffic safety concerns with vehicles around the elentra as well as collision issues for elentra driver.

Front driver's side suspension coil broke while driving down a city street during the winter time at low speed. This seems like the same (or at least very similar) issue as 15v629000, which covers the same make, model, and manufacture date as my car, but my vin is not in that recall.

I have had the same issue with my hyundai elantra 2011 tires contipro r17.first incident happened when i hit a 4 inch pothole and for some reason the air escaped the tire and had to call a tow in truck.the dealer replaced my tire for only $321 (am i lucky ha ha). Now it is october and another problem with the back passenger tire hit a much smaller pothole and the tire blew out.what is going on?these tires are made out of bubble gum.my ford contour 1997 drove through the grand canyon and tires lasted for 80 thousand miles with no problems.i hope they replace those things before someone gets hurt.......thanks

This is the second set of brand new tires (michelins) that has failed in less than 25k miles on the 17" rims this car came with. Every small pothole is felt so strongly, the wipers go on and the glove box pops open. There is very little rubber bet. The rim and the road. We don't want to end up dead in a ditch when one of these tires blows out. As noted on the hyundai blogs, this is a common problem with this model and folks are just waiting for a class action or recall action to happen. Hopefully this will happen before someone is seriously injured or killed.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving 30 mph, the coil spring snapped on the front driver's side and was dragging against the inside of the front driver's side tire. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. The vehicle was currently at an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there were no recalls. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 81,700.

Recall 133 for 2011 hyundai elantra, i have owned this car for about a year and a half. (many problems since i owned it) but yesterday a coil spring broke and slashed the inside of my tire, very dangerous! i had to get my car towed. My mechanic daid there is a recall but hyundai wouldn't recognize it. He also it's the third car he's had to repair fir broken hyundai coil springs!! is there anything you can do to help?

The problem with my vehicle are many. When im driving it throws me to the side for any dents the street has, bad control. The coils are bad. The engine block has a noise that gets louder and louder every time i turn the car.im not a mechanic but i know something wrong with my car control system.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While pulling into a parking area, the contact heard an abnormal noise. The contact exited the vehicle, inspected the front end, and noticed that the front drivers side tire went flat. The tire was unable to retain air. A towing company inspected the area and determined that the front driver's side coil spring fractured. The dealer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from the manufacturer recall and provided no solution. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who replaced the front driver's side coil springthe recall information was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 23,000. Updated 08/08/17*lj

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that while reversing out of the driveway, the front passenger's side strut spring fractured and punctured the front passenger's side tire. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the front strut rods were damaged and need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 240,000.

The left front strut and springs broke after hitting a pot-hole coming out of a grocery store. I pulled out of the parking lot once the traffic light turned green. Have hit potholes before without breaking struts or springs. Springs for my 2011 hyuandai elantra are on back-order.

The left front mcpherson strut cracked and the spring punctured the tire. The car was towed to the dealer for repair. The dealer said that the right front spring was also broken except where it broke the spring did not damage the right front tire.the car was moving but slowly, thankfully at the time. I never had a spring break on any car i have ever owned, much less two springs on the same car. There is a recall for the same thing but hyundai corporation says my car was not in the recall.nhtsa campaign id: 15v629000

Front coil spring fractured and contacted tire.luckily i was pulling out of my parking spot. By the looks of the damage to the tire, i am very fortunate i have been like this and not at any level of speed.the following morning i looked into the problem and found an article by edmond in may 2015 that talked about your organization recalling hyundai elantra's?s for front coil spring problems. From the article this is exactlywhat happened to my car. I called hyundai corporation they said it was not up for a recall. Two calls to dealerships i was again told there was no recall.please force hyundai to recall this potentially deadly accident waiting to happen at their expense.thank you, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My vehicle doesn't feel safe and this is the second report i make. Please contact me about this matter. Thank you!

As i was driving down the road less then a mile from home. I heard a loud clunking sound and seen a part of my coil spring bouncing across the road in my rearview mirror.i have already had to replace the coil spring on the driver side of this car as at another time when pulling out of a parking spot the coil spring broke off and punctured the tire.

Drivers side front coil spring collapsed.no recall notice on this but see plenty of chatter on the web of similar complaints.fortunate that it did not puncture tire but rubbed on inside of tire causing concern of future blowout so replaced front coilsand struts and tire!

On sunday, may 20th, 2018 at around 2:00 p.m. I was driving through warwick city park with my wife and son. Upon approaching a speed bump, i slowed to about 5 to 10 mph. Immediately after going over the speed bump my tire blew out and the car shook violently. I was towed via flatbed to new england tire car care centers on warwick ave, warwick, ri. The mechanical inspection findings were as follows: flat tire on front passenger side ripped off the rim cause by fractured coil spring. New england tire replaced the struts/coil springs and tire. The total bill was $1,400.99. On july 5th, 2018, i discovered that hyundai preformed a safety recall on 28,157 cars with the same issue that occurred to my vehicle. The recall was named 'recall #133' and began on january 6th, 2016. I was never notified of this recall. A quote from hyundai recall #133 stats: 'consequence: if a front coil spring fractures, it may contact the tire, possibly puncturing it, increasing the risk of a crash.' the summary of the recall states that 'hyundai motor america is recalling certain model year 2011 elantra vehicles manufactured november 12, 2010, to march 31, 2011.' this is a total of 140 days including 28,157 vehicles. My vehicle is a hyundai elantra 2011 manufactured on: april 16th, 2011. I realized that the reason my vehicle was not included in recall #133 was that i missed the end date (march 31, 2011) by 16 days. I believe my vehicle should have been included in this recall given the reasonable fact that my front coil spring fractured, contacted the tire, and punctured it just as hyundai recall #133 states which affected 28,157 other vehicles. I filed a small claims civil suit against kyung soo lee, ceo of hyundai motor america. When the orange county sheriff's office attempted to serve the court summons, hyundai motor america stated that they do not allow services to employees onsite.

Both front coils broke and the entire strut assembly needed to be replaced. This could have slid off and punctured a tire. Also the rear strut shock absorber needed to be replaced.

While driving my husband heard a loud pop. Immediately the front passenger tire went flat which caused severe loss of control.thankfully he was on a local road with no other cars at the time. Apparently a coil spring fractured off and slashed the tire. This spring still looked brand new yet it just sheered off which must be some type of defect in manufacturing of the part. While researching this i found a recall #107096for suspension front spring coil yet my 2011 elantra does not show up for this recall? this defect in the spring coil could have caused catastrophic effects if we were driving faster on highway. I haven't yet been able to contact hyundai in regards to this yet but you should be aware....this defect which could be deadly depending on the circumstances. I now have to pay $1000 to repair the struts and coils on both sides. I'm not sure why hyundai has not recalled all cars, but this must be addressed for safety.

I had already opened a case and was working with a david baker 11131845. He had asked me to try to locate the piece of broken spring that punctured my tire. I was able to locate that but once i emailed david i received an email back saying that his email address was no longer active. If someone could take a look at my case and contact me via email and let me know if they still want to look at that part. Thank you!

The front passenger side coil spring broke in my driveway, puncturing the tire. There is an open recall on this part for elanta's manufactured from nov 2010 till march 2011 in states that use salt, the part can quickly erode and break. Hyundai is refusing to fix the problem saying that my car vin is not included in the recall. I purchased the car brand new, it has 85,000 miles. The car documentation states that the parts were manufactured in korea. I feel that this should be covered under the recall. Hyundai knows there is a problem with that part and are refusing to fix the problem.if i had been driving on the highway when the part broke it could have caused an accident.

2011 elantra spring coil failure...our family has great concerns to the public safety regarding the risk management activities by hyundai on nhtsa campaign number 15v629000 (manufacturer recall 133).reviewing the 20 nhtsa recall documents attached to this recall and our own personal experience, we believe that the risk management activities, including: failure investigation, corrective/preventive actions and range of vehicles affected needs to be revisited... See attached pdf and images for details

Was driving the car down the road and the tire popped will i was approaching another vehicle. Had to call and get a tow, i couldn't bring it to hyundai because none were open at the time. Was brought to a local shop thinking it was only a tire. Further investigation showed that the spring on the strut had broke and was rubbing against the tire which lead it to pop. Looked to see if there was any recalls for this problem and there was. I called up hyundai customer service which was on the recall forms and they said it's not covered under there recall because the car was manufactured a month after the years listed. I had the same exact problem as the recall regarding the strut/spring to break causing it to puncher the tire but they said it wont be covered? i have pictures of this exact problem and also the damage to the tire.

Three separate incidents over three years beginning in 2012 and continuing to 2015.two cracked rims, three sidewall bulges, resulting in two tire blow-outs and one almost-ready-to-blow.car has low-profile tires, which combined with hyundai stiff front suspension renders car unable to handle any kind of rough roads or potholes.extremely dangerous.

Have had several issues with tire wear on the 17 inch tire provided with the 2011 elantra limited.every other tire set i have purchased for other vehicles would last 40-50k miles or more, but with this car, i was only getting ~25k miles per set.i was on my third set of tires(not discount tires, three different brands as well) with only ~78k miles when the rear passenger tire had a sidewall blowout.i was fortunate to have purchased a spare (the dealer lied and told me it had a spare when i purchased the car).however,i was traveling out of town with family and this caused several hours of delay as i had to find another tire place to purchase a new tire for the long trip. I was also fortunate that the blowout occurred while getting onto the highway, so my vehicle speed was not high and i was able to pull off the road.

My vehicle picked up a slight vibration at about 30,000 miles. The vibration has gotten worst over time. I am currently at 57,000 miles and the vibration can be intensely felt inside the vehicle by all passengers when coming to a complete stop/idling/stationary. The vibration gets more intense when you have the a/c running. I have checked several forum pages and other drivers with similar cars are having this same issue. I have taken my car into a certified hyundai dealership to be service. I paid $130 for a full diagnostic on july 17, 2018 after the vibrations started getting worst, and nothing was found about the vibrations. Mechanics couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. I feel these vibrations everyday, and several times when i am in my vehicle. This issue should be looked into as soon as possible as it is causing uneasiness and stress. The vibrations can be felt at all speeds and more intense if you have the a/c on. I experience the issue in all season and weather conditions.

When i went to go start my car for work it wouldnt start. Left it at home and had son try to turn on and didnt turn on. Dealership asked me to jump it started for a few days then it happened again not starting. Aaa came out move to neutralthen started. Been having this problem for the past few weeks.

Engine knocking dealership said i needed a new engine because it was a factory issue loose pistons on a small block.i had just turned on the vehicle when the noise started and now it does it all the time. I been reading reviews and there are plenty of other people with the same issue. Please help

Car will not start some times. Dealer says nothing wrong.

Driver and passenger sun visor hinge broken. Won't stay up. Hangs down in the drivers face and hinders drivers ability to see.

Random activation of the emergency alarm. The alarm randomly goes off without activaction. This occurs on its on without any activation either accidently or intrustion.

This is a follow up on complaint #[xxx]..hyundai checked car on 6/22/11ordered part and replaced defective part on 6/29/11.while in parts dept. Was stated that this part had been replaced on several other cars.i am well satisfied with the results. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Car will not start. Does not recognize my key. Everything else works. Changed all batteries and still not starting and dealer cannot figure it out.

The engine stopped while driving 60mph on the highway. All dash symbol lights lit up, the brakes did not work, there was no power, the emergency brake did not work, the hazard lights did not work, loss of steering capabilities and i used the grass and rough roadside to stop the vehicle. Avoiding any accidents.

When driving it is difficult at time to regulate my speed. If i stop at a red light and then try to drive on a green light my car will jolt forward. It is hard to speed up, it feels like my car is stuck in on speed.it makes it difficult to drive on the freeway as it is slow to pick up speed.

Awoke to garage fire in the middle of the night 04/27/2020. Hyundai on my lift for repairs .upon clearing the debris, there was a hole/hot spotin the concrete where the car was found.total loss of 2011 hyundai,of my building & my shop equipment.the cause of fire was undetermined by the maine state fire marshall's office.

In the last year the mpg has dropped drastically. When purchased in 2011 (elantra limited), i got 35 mpg.in the last month, i'm getting 16.9-20.9 mpg. My car has been in for the scheduled recalls, but nothing was detected. I called the dealership and they said that they were not notified of any such problem.

The check engine light came on.we had someone get the code which is p0711.why is there not a recall for the transmission temp sensor if this problem continues to happen to many many people.this is going to cost me $500-1000.this should be hyundai's bill to pay.

While driving my air bag light keeps blinking and my horn stopped working.research shows that it is related to the steering column and the part that is defective is called a clock spring?this should be covered by recall?

The rear brake lights keep blowing out every month! since there's no indications on the instrument cluster that my rear brake lights are out, the police and fellow drivers are the ones to tell me the lights are out. Not safe when both brake lights are out!

2015 winter engine started making a knocking noise took car to hyundai dealership was told car needed a new engine lifter was making the knocking noise i was told my car was not covered under the 100,000 mile warranty because i had my oil changed at another garage and the oil could have been contaminated.the knocking started 2 weeks prior to having my oil changed.i know another person that had the same problem and after a battle with the garage they replaced her engine at no cost.i have had my car to several mechanics and they felt i should pursue the matter

Driving home from work on narrow 2 lane road.,my car suddenly accelerated and shot across the opposite side of oncoming lane..thankfully no car was coming toward me.at the time. I managed to get it under control, but was terrified thinking what if a car had been coming up toward me. This happened sometime in summer of 2013. I thought maybe it was just a fluke until today when i was reading about chrysler autos having sudden acceleration problems. I decided to check to see if any hyundai cars had the same problem. I was surprised to see that indeed there had been a case reported. Now, i am very uneasy driving my car, and especially since my19 yr old also drives it. I have not seen any recall to have this issue fixed. I have also email the hyundai corp. To inform them also of my experience. I certainly do not want to die or have any one else killed because of this. Would like to see hyundai recallthese cars to fix the problem.

Sudden acceleration while perpendicular parking.

When driving it is difficult at time to regulate my speed. If i stop at a red light and then try to drive on a green light my car will jolt forward. It is hard to speed up, it feels like my car is stuck in on speed.it makes it difficult to drive on the freeway as it is slow to pick up speed.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. While driving, the electronic stability control (esc) indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the accelerator sensor was causing the vehicle to lose power for approximately three seconds. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal again and the vehicle operated normally. If the contact pushed the esc button, the vehicle would operate normally. The contact called don franklin lexington hyundai (3340 richmond rd, lexington, ky 40509, (859) 263-5020) and was quoted a repair cost of $900 for the sensor, which did not include labor. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 125,200.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated while driving 30 mph the vehicle suddenly acclerated and crashed into a light pole. The contact was severely injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

As i was driving the skid control light came on. At first, nothing was different, then all of a sudden my car started slowing down and would accelerate with gas being applied. Then, it started moving again. After a while the light went off, but then came on and did the same thing.

In may 2014 while utilizing the cruise control, applying the brakes did not disengage the cruise control even while my husband was braking to decrease speed as we were entering bastrop, tx on hwy 71. It took us by surprise, and my husband finally managed to bring the car under control by pressing the cruise control disengage button on the steering wheel. I took our vehicle to the dealership where we purchased the car, and the dealership replaced the brake light switch. On sunday, nov. 27, 2016, we were using the cruise control while we were traveling southbound on hwy 79 approaching hearne, tx. The car in front of us slowed, and my husband braked to slow down as well, but it seemed that the car actually sped up. He looked down to be sure that he hit the brake and not the accelerator. By the time he looked up, we were about to hit the vehicle in front of us. He hit the brakes harder, and the car seemed to speed up again. My husband swerved to the left to avoid hitting car in front of us, but there was another vehicle next to us in the lane to our left. Fortunately, the drivers of the other vehicles managed to swerve to the right and to the left so that we had room to pass between the two vehicles. Our brakes were squealing, but the car was not slowing down. Finally my husband managed to disengage the cruise control and pulled off the road so that we could collect our composure. I returned to the hyundai dealer in round rock on november 29. The service manager told me that my vehicle was no longer under warranty, so i would have to pay to have the issue fixed. I know that hyundai and kia have had recalls for defective brake light switches on other models, model years, and i believe that this is a continuation of the same type issue with my vehicle. It is truly a safety issue, and i think that hyundai should fix this again on my vehicle at no charge.

The driver's visor hinge fails (pulls loose) during normal operation and then blocks the driver's field of vision by moving to the midway position between being fully opened and fully closed.had to remove visor to safely operate the vehicle.

Driver and passenger sun visor hinge broken. Won't stay up. Hangs down in the drivers face and hinders drivers ability to see.

The passenger side sun visor does not return to its proper flush position when not in use, so it would come into contact with the top of the passengers heads in the event of an accident, creating a serious safety risk.

Rear window has progressively gotten more blurred and mottled, reducing visibility. At this point the only clear part is a small section in the middle. Approximately over 3/4 of window is blurry at present. This began over 3 years ago and worked its way from the outside towards the middle.

On more than one occasion i have had issues with pedestrians being in my blind spot while driving. Today (7/26/13), i nearly hit a woman in a parking lot who was perfectly positioned in the same blind spot. The blind spot is the support beam the is located between the drivers window and the front windshield. I am extremely concerned that i may one day end up hitting and injuring someone as a nearly did today. The rear or the car also has a terrible blind spot as the car is raised in the rear making it hard to see anyone walking behind the car. Please do something to correct this before people get hurt.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that the flat tire repair kit that consisted of fix-a-flat and an air compressor failed to remedy a flat tire. The contact believed the flat tier repair kit was a hazard since the vehicle did not come equipped with a spare tire. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 18,000.

Engine has trouble starting or stalls often. Was told to replace whole engine when i went in awhile ago due to issue of starting, noise and oil leak. Tpms sensor i think is shot to every time i fill up air it still suggests issue with tires. Windows also get stuck down or up.

On numerous occasions the tires blow out or get a large bulge in the sidewall. And the rims also bend. The littlest pothole or bump will cause this to happen. This is because of a poor design by hyundai . These low profile wheels and tires don't belong on this car as the suspension is way too stiff for these wheels and tires. It doesn't matter what brand of tire i put on the car the same thing still keeps happening.,blow out after blowout.this is a huge safety concern. Someone could get killed from these tires so easily blowing out. Something has to be done. Please help me with my problem. The problem is the 17 inch alloy wheel with the low-profile tire not having much cushion between the road and the rim and the really stiff suspension.

Right front coil spring fractured and punctured right front tire. Veh was operating at low speed in a parking lot. Appears this is related to recall #15v629000.?

Damaged a tire and found no spare tire in trunk!

I found a flat tire on my front right tire yesterday as it was sitting stationary in my work parking lot.(19may2016). Upon further inspection it was found that my wheel/rim was cracked and dented.i did not hit a pothole, run off the road, have a wreck, etc.. So there is no reason it should have happened.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai elantra. The contact stated that he had to replace all four tires every 15,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to a independent mechanic where the technician diagnosed that the wheels were too large for the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted about this issue. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.

On this 2011 hyundai elantra touring, the left (driver's side) front tire developed a bubble after only 2240 miles. The tire was a kumho solus kh16 215/45/17. The hyundai dealer advised me that the tire warranty was directly with kumho, not with the dealer or hyundai. Representatives of two kumho tire dealers (discount tire and sears) said any bubbles were the result of impact, such as with a pothole, and the kumho warranty excluded road hazards. Both refused to inspect the tire closely when i said there had been no impact that could have produced such a bubble. The kumho customer service contact failed to return my call.

In late november the tire pressure indicator came on. I pumped up the tire. It came back on again several days later. The car has michelin all season radials that i had installed in february of this year. I assumed that i had picked up a nail or something similar, so i took the car back to sam's club to have the tire repaired.i was told they had bad news and bad news. The worst was that they could nor repair it, because the rim is cracked! they showed the wheel to me. The crack is on the inside rim and there is no other evidence of damage. I have experience with failure analysis. This appears to be a stress facture, possibly the result of a materials defect or a design flaw. (this is a extremely low profile 17' wheel/tire combination.) other bad news? no spare.

My tires have developed bulges after only 24000 miles of use. I have the following, original tires:p214/45r17my tires have significant and dangerous bulges, which can lead to dangerous driving and blow outs.if this is characteristic of all tires in the set, i'd like to be reimbursed for a set of tires that do this, their installation, and the decreased fuel efficiency that will come from having smaller tires. I imagine all three would presently (2014) amount to about $2500.here is a url with a discussion of the complaint:<br>http://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t35968_ds499866?actionmessages=your+answer+has+been+posted.
