I reported this information given to you to the main company in the month of august on several occasions; however, i have not received a response.in my opinion, this is totally unfair because i am making payments on an automobile that is literally falling apart.i feel that it hyundai motor finance company should have made somepreparation to satisfy their customer,one who has an excellent paying history.i am very dissatified with this product and would like a better automobile, one in which i would feel comfortable driving and paying for in the remainder years.please help!thanks,carolyn b. In this accident i was travelling at about 45mph when i came to an intersection. The light was red and about to turn green.when the light turned green the car that was sitting at the intersection did not go.i ran directly in the back of a 1998 chevy cavilar.i hit the steering wheel and the wind sheild.the air bag didn't deploy.

Airbags deployed without an impact or collision.*lathe consumer stated the door handle broke.

The check engine and airbag light did not come on until after the recall i refuse to pay for the dealer's damage.

Owner stated the vehicle srs light came on and dealer said it was defective and driver's side airbag, which would have been inoperable, if the airbag was to deploy.vehicle also experienced numberous other problems,such as fuse blown out, heater problems and electrial problem.

Consumer was invovled in a 30 mphfrontal collision in which the driver's or passenger's air bags did not deploy.please give any furtherdetails.

While driving about 50 mphand crossing a green light another vehicle wasoncomingtraffic trying to make a turn in front of consumer's vehicle, but consumer could not avoid crashing into it.upon impact,air bags did not deploy.

Consumer was in a head-on collision with an elk at 50 mph , anddriver'sair bag did not deploy. Dealer was contacted.

During frontal impact at 25 mph, the driver's and passenger's side air bags did not deploy.

As consumer was driving he had to swerve to avoid hitting another car. Vehicle went up on a curb, causing both airbags to deploy.windshield was cracked by airbags/ front end was pushed back. Please add additional information.

Pulled into turning lane when struck by an oncoming vehicle. Consumer was hit in the front of vehicle and neitherair bag deployed.

When vehicle was involved in a inter-sectional crash, traveling about 25 mph, there was no deployment of air bags. The vehicle was totalled. The crash buckled the fire wall.

Consumer states while driving, the engine check light came on and then the vehicle stalled out. Vehicle has been to the dealer on several occasions and the problem is reccurring. Oxygen sensor and coil pack were replaced. Fuel injectors were cleaned, throttle body replaced. But problem still existed until dealer found battery had dead cell.

Am very unhappy with this car and am afraid to drive it on the highways because it lost all power when driving on i- 65.was towed in 2 times because of no power.they offered for me to trade it in on a new car, that would mean another 5 yr. Loan and another $50.00 a month payment.i did not feel this was a very good solution .service dept.has been good as trying to find the problems, but i am not happy that they have not replaced this car at no cost to me, for all the problems i have had.

Horn failed.

If they turn offvehicle it would be hard to start it back up. Dealer notified.

After making a stop the vehicle will stall out,consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, the dealer replaced a clip in theelectrical system, theconsumer has also had problems with the windshield wipers being inoperative, dealer replaced the wiper motor.

Consumer is having an electrical problem under the hood that is causing meltdown of wires under the hood/drainage of the battery and the altenator, and the radio to switch itself on and off. Dealer has been contacted.

Dash has been returned to dealer several times to repair. First it was said to be a speedometer cable that was replaced. The noise continues to get louder and louder.

Engine would stall out for no reason when going only 5mph. Would jerk when in 3rd gear. Whenever vehicle reaches 30mph would jerk & vibrate. Will be taking to dealer.

Engine head gaskets blew out while driving.there was no prior warning.hot/cold temperature gauge failed to work. Also, whenever trying to start vehicle, it would fail to catch right away. Taking vehicle to dealership to check it out.

When applying the brakes and trying to pull out, the vehicle will stall and cut off. Uponputting the vehicle in park and cutting off the heat/radio and everything, and waiting to start the vehicle up again.the vehicle did'nt give any prior warning.

This is very dangerous on highway and expressways.will eventually cause a very serious accident.i have read the other consumer complaints pertaining to engine shut down problems, sounds like were having the same problem.please do something about this problem before someone is killed or injured in an automobile accident.

Consumer went to warm up vehicle and it caught on fire, no injuries. Fire department came to put out fire.

Turn signal lights: intermittently the turn signal lights do not work. 0n 4-17-97 while coming home turned the signa l ights on to turn and the vehicle just cut off.

Vehicle was repaired under recall #00v095000. The problem still exist as far as smelling fuel inside vehicle. Have contacted dealership and informed will repair but not free. Petersburg hyundai 804 862 1000 in va.

When starting upcar would smell gas throughout the ride. Then check engine light came on. Took vehicleto dealer, and theycould not find anything. Consumer felt this vehicle was unsafe, especially with other people in it.feltlike the car might blow up.

When brakes are applied the vehicle dies due to a defective mass air flow sensor harness . The dealer has replaced this part. The dealer told owner that this part is supposed to last the life time of the vehicle.

Consumer tried to contact the hyundai customer assistance center for motor vehicle recall follow-up about the evaporating emission system (00v-095), but he have not been able to reach anyone to set up an appointment to have to repairs made.

The contact owns a 1996 hyundai elantra.the contact smelled a strong odor of gasoline coming from the vehicle.she took her vehicle to the dealer and they found no failures.four years later, the dealer replaced the vehicle according to nhtsa campaign id number 00v095002 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly).two years later, the contact was admitted to the hospital for gasoline poisoning.after being discharged from the hospital, she took her vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that her fuel tank was cracked and she would have to repair the vehicle at her own expense.the dealer stated that the vehicle had previously been repaired according to the recall in 2004.she filed a formal complaint with the manufacturer.she has a copy of all the written correspondence in reference to the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000 and current mileage was 40,000.updated 04/18/08

Reported to hyundai service of gas fumes coming from the car causing severe headaches. They located a crack in the gas tank saying that it would not be paid for by hyundai as a safety defect because of the mileage on the car.

Driver's side door handle and window handle(manual windows) broke. There was no abnormal usage--just normal wear. However, the interior plastic handles are poorly made. What if i have to exit the car quickly in an emergency???

Hood latch released while i was driving causing hood to slam back against the windshield and totally obstructing vision while on main road.car needed to be towed and hood replaced.auto body owner found latch, bolts, nuts were all rusted.in recently speaking with him again he mentioned that shortly after i had my hood replaced he had another hyundai elantra come in that also had rusted nuts/bolts/latch.my car is a 1996 hyundai elantra. *nlm

Vehicle locks in second gear, downshifts from high to low gear at high speeds, will not shift out of high gear, all conditions intermittant.

Vehicle lost all drive gears while at highway speed. Dealer service reports total transmission failure. Occured wihout warning , no noticable change in transmission fluid, and at only 69,975 miles (mostly in-town 20 mile work commute). Dealer claims no warranty coverage.

Seat belts are too small and will not stay latched. Dealer says they cant do anything.

When applied the abs brakes the pedal traveled to the floor, causing extended stopping distance,resulting in a collision.please give any further details.

Under any and all conditons when applying the brakes they make a loud noise, like metal is grinding against metal, comes from the rear brakes.the brakes have been cleaned once and replaced once.

Right front brake pad separated from backing pad while driving.situation resulted in reduced braking capability when brakes where utilized.brake pads had approx 25 - 35% life remaining.

Both front rotors have multiple hairline cracks -never been cut with plenty of brake lining left -- all highway driving not stop and go .

Braking system failed; after applying brakes , the pedal went to the floor, compete loss of brakes, impact 12:00position. Failure of master cylinder,speed 15mph.

When turning left steering wheel would get real loose; problem will occur when vehicle is going 30mph & hits bumps in the road. Would pull steering wheel hard to the right. Taking vehicle to dealer.

Driver's door dented.

Driver side interior door handle broke 3/99 could not exit through that door. New handle installed 3/99 and broke again 9/2000 could not exit through subject door. This could make emergency exit difficult.

I own a 1996 hyundai elantra.my ex purchased this vehicle from a used car lot.we have had the car for over 3 years.on monday morning i was on my way to the dentist and noticed a very loud"loose bumping" sound..i know that probably doesn't make sense....upon my quick return home i noticed that the driver rear tire (the entire thing) seemed to be loose and wobbly...i had a friend come and take a look to see what was wrong.after jacking the car up, with the car in the air and the tire still on the ground he thought that the strut was broken.so after further investigation, it was noticed that the strut mounting t the frame had fallen thru a rusted hole in the frame of my car.distraught as i was, and with no help from the hyundai dealer in the louisville area, i was out of luck on how to rectify this situation.now i am still paying for a car that i can never drive.i am wanting to know if any other hyundai owners have this problem.i mean the car is not even 10 years old...and the frame is rusting out on me.....there are no other rust spots on the car anywhere....i am just trying to understand why my car is broke and no one is able to help me fix it.

Windshield wipers failed during rain storm, causing poor visibility.

When it rains windshield wipers do not work nor do they work when it is damp outside.

Windshield wiper arm - location point that connects to the linkage stripped causing it in wet weather to send the wipers to go completely go out pass the end of windshield.
