2013 hyundai azera was parked with the window cracked about an inch. A storm came up and a small amount of water was blown onto the passenger seat. Airbag warning light came on and will not go off.hyundai dealer said any repair is not covered under warranty as " the car is not designed to have water inside". I have owned over 20 cars and never had anything like this occur even when something spilled on seats.
As of 7/26/19 my airbag light came on when i started my car it was still overnight and hasn't gone off i took it to nalley hyundai in lithonia g.a 8/12/19 where i was told theirs no recall but the clock screw needs to be replaced and my steering column to fix the click in the steering wheel and was then given an estimate i feel this is a faulty item that is conducive to my safety and i shouldn't have to pay for it
Steering wheel: the steering wheel shakes vigorously when driving on the highway going past 60. Also, big clunking sound when turning the wheel. Feels like steering wheel will fall off.had a similar issue with my sonata. There was a recall on the sonata on this to replace the steering coupling.airbag light stays on: same issue as my sonata, however there is no recall on the azera. This is clearly issues with lot of hyundai's. This needs anew clock spring assembly/spiral cable.if these are same issues on a sonata then there should of been a recall on the azera as well. Not lot of people talk time to fill this out and report this. I guess a tragic accident needs to occur for hyundai to act.
My srs light is on so i took my car to the dealer to find out why. I was told and is on my paperwork that vehicle has code associated with clockspring and is out of spec. Car was stationery and when i drove it to work one morning the light was on. It's not something i caused and really don't seam like a normal issue.
2013 hyundai azera. Consumer stated that the airbags did not deploy during auto accident. *ldthe consumer stated he and his wife were struck by another vehicle on the right front door. The vehicle the struck a guardrail, following it for 50ft. The vehicle was totaled. The consumer's wife was knocked unconscious and endured. Serious issues with her neck, ears and hip.both had concussions.*dt
Car was parked overnight in my driveway. The next morning i got up, started my car and now the air bag light is on. Dealer says i need a new clockspring. My car has 53000 miles. No accidents, oil changes every 3000 miles. How does this happen. Its clearly a manufacturing problem with hyundai.
The contact owned a 2013 hyundai azera. While the contact's vehicle was stationary, it was rear ended by a second vehicle. As a result, the contact rear ended the preceding vehicle. Thefront end of the contact's vehicle was severely damaged. The vehicle was deemed destroyed. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained injuries to the left knee, left arm, shoulder, and face. The front passenger sustained chest and right arm injuries. Medical attention was received. The vehicle was towed away. A police report was filed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.
At approximately 40k miles the air bag warning indicator came on while there was a child passenger in the front seat. It only came on when my 15 year old would sit there and we were moving. I brought it to the dealer and the fault was reset. The dealer stated if it reoccured they would order a new sensor.it did reoccur this time while traveling on the highway with a 160 lb. 5'5 man in the passenger seat, and the dealer was notified.i was told that when the part came in they would call.the dealer never called.due to lack of time on my part i did not follow up for two years and the light was on the entire time. When i did go back the dealer started that was to long ago and now the part is no longer under warranty despite being documented as bad while it was still under warranty.now while searching for a part online i found that this is a known issue and the was a recall for this.why don't the dealer fix it?
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai azera. While driving 15 mph, the passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated, which was a safety concern. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and found diagnostic trouble code: 1346 (no resistance to air bag). The mechanic advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by a dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
Both the tire sensor and passenger air bag has come on. Air bag stays on even when no one is in seat.
Vehicle drifts left and right at interstate highway speeds, requiring constant attention and correction by the driver, which is distracting and contributes to driver fatigue. Unable to track smoothly around curves. Similar to alternating cross winds, even when there are none. Situation very aggravating in actual cross winds. Police officer pulled me over and said he would be justified in issuing a ticket for "weaving". Dealer technician drove the car and acknowledged that this is a negative characteristic of electrical steering and nothing to be done for it.
When i crank up my 2013 hyundai azera the airbag light came on.i waited and the light never went out.had my car scanned and it stated the error is the clock spring in the steering wheel.i feel as if my safety is compromised if the air bag isn't working properly.i keep all maintenance up on my vehicle but this is out of my control.

Took the car to harbor hyundai in long beach, ca for an srs/airbag warning light that turned on and remained on in the vehicle's instrument cluster upon starting the car on 1/13/2019. The vehicle was stationary and parked in a residential street. This is a big safety concern, as the safety restraining systems may not function properly in the case of an accident. The service department diagnosed the issue with error codes b1490 and b1763, symbolizing an "ocs(occupant classification system) defect" and "ocs ecu defect" in the vehicle, which advised replacement of both the ecu and the passenger seat cushion. This issue seems to directly to relate to hyundai's "campaign 111" recall which involves vehicles manufactured from may 22, 2012 through november 23, 2012 (just 1 month, 10 days) before my vehicle was built. Because the symptoms in this issue seem almost identical to that recall, this issue might be the same issue as stated in the recall. Unfortunately, the vehicle's vin does not exist within that previous recall, meaning a large repair expense needs to be paid. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case number was made for the issue reported. Attached are copies of the service department's vehicle obd ii scanner report along with the invoice, an outline of the error codes scanned, and an estimated repair cost.

The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to folsom lake hyundai (12530 auto mall cir, folsom, ca 95630, (916) 293-4760) where it was diagnosed that the clockspring in the air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,581.

Engine will not start on an intermittently. Push brake and start button and only a soft buzzing/click noise under hood. Has happened 4 times in last 3 days. After 3-5 tries it started. Dealer wanted to charge 135.00 if they could not find a defective part. Googled the problem and found this is a problem with 2011-2013 hyundais. If my wife is trying to flee an attacker and cannot start this automobile i consider it a real potential hazard according to dealer there is no recall or hyundai bulletin on this problem even though it is being reported as such by consumers on the internet..
When the seatbelts are unbuckled, the warning chime does not come on. The blinker sound does not come on either. When discussed with service department at dealer, they didn't know how to fix it.
When i start car, in daylight, the radio/gps screen is dim. Ifi restart car the car the screen comes to full brightness. All tech people at millennium hyundai have supplied documentation that they agree with my statement but hyundai corporation clearly refuses to fix the problem. All i have asked is that if this becomes a permanent situation after the three year guarantee they will fix it.

My wife was driving down the road when the car started smoking. When she pulled over she grabbed a bag and as she was getting out her flames were coming under her dash. Total loss
Started car after sitting in parking lot for 8 hours and the traction control warning light stayed on. Tried restarting the car several times but the warning would not clear. Drove car home less than 10 miles with both steering and acceleration considerably affected. The car pulled hard to the right then the left while driving on the highway and was difficult to keep in lane. Acceleration felt like the brakes were being applied which made the car very sluggish to drive. Parked the car at home overnight and the warning cleared itself the next day. Took the car straight in to the dealership who claimed they could find any codes pertaining to the problem and was told to bring the car back if it happens again.
Bought my hyundai in for problems with my car and was told all my complaints were the way the car was built and nothing could be done about it... First my trunk doesn't open all the way answer because there is no motor built into the trunk for it to open on that model car.second when rear window is open it sounds like the car is going to fall apart very loudly and noisily but that is normal for the way it is built.. Suggested by serviceman either open front window so the noise should lesson, but did not, then keep rear windows closed at all times. Using to much gas they tested it and state it clocks in at 33 mpg. Yet everywhere online it stated it gets 29 mpg at the most, so how is it getting 33?33 mpg my car doesn't even get 29 mpg are you kidding me 33 mpg is way the salesman told me it was but never was... Unless you are loaded with money don't buy this gas guzzler!!!! or this load vehicle unless u keep the windows closed!!
Came to dealership to get oil changed & they could not start the car. Said i would have to pay for a new inhibitor switch
My wife was driving down the road when the car started smoking. When she pulled over she grabbed a bag and as she was getting out her flames were coming under her dash. Total loss
Exhaust coming into the cabin when accelerating with the windows cracked or down (always).
Engine failed; started knocking , lights came on dash, and caused car to cease.car is available for inspection, luckily was able to get on side of road without incident; towed to dealership and they advised that the hyundai has issues and they have about 10 on the lot now awaiting replacement for there is a recall on this year of the sonata and the santa fe - it should be noted the santa fe and azera have the same engine.contacted dealer after towed and they told us what the likely issue is without looking at it (although later confirmed) for they have so many with the same issue.there were no warning lights or anything, dashboard suddenly came on and vehicle died.dealership (jim johnson, bowling green, ky) service woman, megan, said this is quite normal and there was a lawsuit about this.
My engine seized up a few weeks ago while doing about 38 mph on a city street. There was no warning prior to the engine seizing (i.e. Check engine light, oil temp gauge) nothing. The car made a rattling noise and started to shake violently as i tried to pull it off the road. I had it towed to a hyundai dealership to have the engine looked at. The mechanic could not figure out what caused the engine to seize and wrote it up as an engine parts malfunction. I was told it would cost 14k to replace the motor and the hyundai refused to cover any of the repairs. The current motor only has about 115,546 miles on it and it was serviced regularly. Never owning a hyundai death trap again.

This vehicle had been same issues from very beginning after purchased yr 2013. Shaking entire vhehcle every morning and exhaust furnes so i took sevices severial times on dealer shop on pharr, texas. Nothing changed and nothing improved they just mentioned it came from original engine design and typical problems but nothing serious. Oct.24th 2017 drop off my car at the dealer shop at pharr, texas and they did diagnosis and replaced some parts of the engin day by day. However they still do not know what is roots causes until today. I can't understand that how they didn't noticed roots causes and they just keep my car on their parking lot and they would not told me resolved date!
There is heavy black carbon buildup on the tailpipes and rear of my azera.the hyundai dealer said it is normal due to the type of catalytic converter they use.my lexus mechanic (our other car) said it probably a problem with the fuel to air ratio the car is using.
Exhaust fumes and soot accumulate on rear bumper marring paint and may cause other problems i.e. Monoxide. Have attempted to get it fixed at three dealers but they claim it's nothing and simply wash soot off.

I am experiencing a loud bang coming from underneath the rear of the vehicle. This noise occurs when the fuel tank is half full or less when slowing down and even when the vehicle has come to a complete stop. When the vehicle is in gear, the noise occurs driving forward or stopping at a light on a city road. When vehicle is put into park and shut off, the bang occurs as well. This issue started occurring on rare occasions in 2017. I brought the vehicle in for service, but the hyundai dealer could not replicate. In 2018, the noise started occurring on a consistent basis. When i brought it back to the dealership the third time, they were finally able to determine where the noise was coming from. The hyundai dealership concluded that it was the fuel tank expanding and contracting. The dealership explained that it's like sucking the air out of a coke bottle (crinkling noise) and afterwards pushing air back in for it to expand, making a thump like noise. The dealer claims there is no safety risk to this loud expanding and contracting of the gas tank and gas vapors. The fix is to replace the gas tank but at my own cost since there is no tsb or recall posing a safety risk. I have researched online and found several others with this same experience.
With a nearly full tank of gas the fuel gauge shows completely empty and the gas pump indicator begins flashing.this is a intermittent issue that occurs at random times.took it to dealer, they were not able to duplicate event through i provided photographic evidence of the problem and was told to go away.this problem started roughly 4 weeks ago and has happened 3 times since.
Exhaust coming into the cabin when accelerating with the windows cracked or down (always).
My 2013hyundai azera suddenly accelerated as i applied the brakes to come to a complete stop. The rpm kept increasing when i placed it in neutral to over 4000 rpm. Ii had to turn car off in order to stop the extremely high rpm.this occurred on two occasions so far (3/18/2015 and 3/19/2015.)
On multiple occasions vehicle engine has failed to start with the gear selector in park. The gear selector must be moved to neutral to start the engine or sometimes the gear selector can be moved through other gears and back to park and then the engine will start.

After my abs system was activated after sliding straight on snow and ice on a side road (my speed was less than 15 mph prior to braking), i heard a grinding noise. Shortly afterward, i could smell burnt rubber. I investigated my front right tire and noticed that a huge groove was scraped into the sidewall of the tire (on the back side of the wheel). The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership and they confirmed that the coil spring had broken in two places and was tearing into the back side of my tire. It almost tore all the way through the sidewall of the tire. If i had kept driving it unaware of the danger, it would have cut my tire in half and cause me to lose control of my vehicle and i do a lot of interstate driving.
Had to replace faulty steering wheel coupler that was a subject of a recall in other hyundai models.literally the same exact part and part number as recalled models, but no recall on azera.blessedly i had it replaced before it completely failed, but others undoubtedly may not recognize issue and car will eventually completely fail to steer.car would make odd clicking sound from steering column turning left of right just off center or over bumps.
As of 7/26/19 my airbag light came on when i started my car it was still overnight and hasn't gone off i took it to nalley hyundai in lithonia g.a 8/12/19 where i was told theirs no recall but the clock screw needs to be replaced and my steering column to fix the click in the steering wheel and was then given an estimate i feel this is a faulty item that is conducive to my safety and i shouldn't have to pay for it
When driving at 40 mph and up the steering wheel shakes and you can hear a clicking sound when turning the wheel.
Steering wheel is so tight it bounces back into position also the car drifts on the road and the steering when you turn the wheel its like it slotted so if you just move it a fraction it will fall into a slot and then you going off the road i feel the drive by wire is so tight that it will snap and kill somebody over time and the drifting it will drift fast so if your not 100 percent paying attention your dead.

2013 hyundai azera steering wheel makes a clicking noise when turning and is often stiff and hard to turn.and a loud clanking noise emits from the steering wheel housing going over almost any bump.
Steering wheel makes a click/clunk noise when turning from left to right. Makes a large rattling noise when driven over any bumps. Steering wheel vibrates at highway speeds, lots of play in the wheel, pulls the car to the left. I later learned its a faulty steering coupler. Hyundai provides a 10yr/100k warranty on this part for the elantra and sonata. Its unfair when the same faulty parts are used on the azera but not covered as it is on the other models.
Our 2013 azera, with less than 29k miles, started wandering back and forth while driving. Even on neighborhood streets at slow speeds not just on city streets and highways. I started noticing that i had play in the steering wheel. At first it was only maybe a half inch but if i turned the wheel fast enough back and forth, it made a thumping noise and i could feel it in the wheel. Now there is 6 inches turn from left to right and the wheel and column rattles and thuds on every imperfection in road surface. The first indication was noticed 4 days ago.today i fear it's not safe to drive anywhere. Even to drive in to get it repaired. The problem i have seems to be similar to those already documented complaints on this model and will be fixed at my expense since there is no recall for my year/model hyundai. As it is still under 30k miles, this is highly disappointing to say the least.
The steering makes a clunking sound when the wheel is turned.mechanic said it's a faulty "rubber" star shaped part that has been recalled on other vehicles.our cost to fix will be $289!the azera should have been included under the recall but so far it has not.
The streeing wheel started clicking and or sticking a few months ago while turning. The clicking/sticking has progressively gotten worse and the steering wheel feels loose and unsecured. When driving on uneven roads the steering wheel rattles loudly and shakes constantly. I feel as i do not have any control of my vehicle at times and have to adjust contstantly when turning or driving over uneven roads.
Sounds like a steering coupling failure. I was driving, and when turning the wheel it made a clicking sound and the wheels don't turn. My car only has 33,364 miles on it and this part has failed.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai azera. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle, there was a clunking noise was present coming from the steering column when turning the steering wheel in either direction. The steering wheel was also loose. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer parkway hyundai located at 5920 market st a, wilmington, nc 28405, who diagnosed that the steering coupling was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.

The steering column and wheel had a lot of play that got progressively worse. I had a spot thatwould " pop" when you turn it left or right. That also progressively worsened to the point that i would get a loud clunking noise when i turn the wheel or hit even the slightest bump on the road.i found a lot of similar complaints online for the hyundai's and a large recall for the sonatas andelantras but doesn't include the azera.its the same exact issue and same part with a defective rubber coupler behind the steering wheel.i paid to have the part repaired yesterday when the two other people on the hyundai work shuttle had their repairs covered by the recall.all 3 of us in that car had the same exact problem !that's how common it is!how in the world can theynot include the azera?
The steering column has the same faulty coupler that has to replaced on all the sonata, electra's and kia's in the year ranges from 2009 to 2017.they have a recall for the power steering coupler in the 2009-2017 sonata and electra cars, but did not include the azera.after talking with many dealerships, they replace them daily on the azera's as well, why was this coupler not included in the recall?if the coupler breaks while driving all steering is lost.just a small amount of research will show you how many azera owners are having the same repair.it happens when the wheel is turned and it makes a cracking noise, both stationary and in motion.the noise increases over time and starts to rattle on bumps.the problem can cause deaths, if not made aware of to the owners of these vehicles.
Steering wheel knocks loudly when turning left or right.hyundai has issued a recall for sonota, elantra, santa fe and some kia models, but does not include the azera model even though the dealer verified it is the same issue and part failure.many complaints online concerning the same problem and sudden loss of steering when part fails.dealer states azera is not included because limited production caused less complaints so it was not included in the recall.repair estimate is $448.00.if not repaired, complete loss of steering could occur.*dt*dt consumer reference number # [xxx] from the dealer.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).ā€¯
Happened a couple of times, car starts swerving into other lanes for a few seconds and cannot control car
Loud clunking noise in steering and vibration when at highway speeds, took to repair shop and seen steering coupling needs to be replaced. After reseraching online i see that this is a very common complaint and should be recalled. My sonata had the same issue but was recalled and repaired. Clunking happens when driving or still and, sounds like metal loose in the column.
The coupling is broken and i don't even have 60,000 miles on the vehicle. The steering rattles and shakes while driving at any speed and is dangerous if not fixed.hyundai has recalled other coupling systems but none on the azera. I have owned cars with over 100,000 miles and have never experienced this error.
There is a clicking sound in the steering wheel when turning.the steering coupling needs to be replaced.this was a recall for 208-2015 sonata's, elantra's and santa fe's, but not the azera. It is the same part in all models.this is a significant safety issue that hyundai is aware of, but did not recall the azera's as well
2013 hyundai azera was parked with the window cracked about an inch.
Exhaust fumes and soot accumulate on rear bumper marring paint and may cause other problems i.e. Monoxide. Have attempted to get it fixed at three dealers but they claim it's nothing and simply wash soot off.
I opened the driver side back door and the handle came off in my hand -- i was parked at home
While driving on the highway the front glass panel of my 2013 azera panoramic sunroof cracked from both corners, see pictures. I did not hear anything that would cause this type of damage. It just started to fall apart, glass pieces everywhere.
Two issues since vehicle purchase (dec. 2013): (1) rearview mirror drops when closing driver door. Requires adjustment every time vehicle is used. (2) trunk pops open when vehicle is stationary or moving. Hyundai dealer advised that there was no explanation for this. Hoping to get the mirror replaced soon, but no answer to the trunk issues yet.

I was driving along on i-95 when i heard a loud, explosive popping sound.it freaked me out at first as it sounded like i had blown a tire, but the car didn't shake, bump or swerve. I hadn't seen anything in the road i could have hit, and i wasn't driving behind any construction type trucks dropping pebbles or sand.the car was driving as if nothing had happened, so i continued to the nearest exit.as soon as i was off the highway, i pulled over, got out and saw right away that the panel of my panoramic sunroof that meets the windshield was cracked, broken and missing pieces in the left and right corners, but only had minor cracks in the center. I was thinking this was a very strange pattern of breakage if something like a rock had hit the glass. I called hyundai about fixing the glass and they told me they don't do it--that they have another company do it for them.they gave me their number, but when i called, they said they couldn't do it either.it took me 4 other calls to find a place that would do the work.when i spoke to hyundai and explained how i couldn't understand what had happened to cause the panel to break, they made no mention of the possibility it may have exploded.it wasn't until i got home that a friend said she googled exploding sunroofs and found all kinds of information about it, as well as class action suits.i have since found out the new panel costs $215 and approximately $80 to install.i am having the repair done right away as i can't drive around like that.i live in florida where it rains without notice and i wouldn't want to damage the sunroof motor or anything else by getting it wet. Fortunately the sunroof was closed when this all happened and i have not opened it to see if there is glass inside everywhere because i don't want to create further danger or mess.
I was driving from a parking lot, stopped at a few stopped signs and traffic lights, and when entering a highway at about 30 mph, i noticed the car would not speed up beyond the speed i was driving. The engine would not rev up more than 1.5k - 2krpm. I pulled over to the side. Stopped the engine and restarted. I was able to move the car but it would not speed up to more thanroughly 10 mph. I had to pull to the side again since there were vehicle approaching behind me. I tried to restart the 3rd time, and the engine started up with some hesitation. After making sure i could get the engine to rev up to more than 5krpm, i pull out and was able to drive the car. No engine check code was displayed.
I was driving down the interstate about 11 a.m. On sunday, june 19 (overcast, some rain on and off, stop and go traffic, so i was probably going about 30 or 35 mph) when i heard a loud pop, like someone popping a paper lunch bag.didn't know what it was so a couple mins later i heard wind.all windows were up, so i opened the shade covering the panoramic moon roof, and that's when i saw the huge hole in the front piece of glass.this is the one that moves when you open it.there was nothing inside (like a rock or lug nut etc) to indicate something hit it.there was no previous damage to the roof.i had to pay a $500 deductible to get it fixed, so if this is a glass defect then i should get my money back.
Both the tire sensor and passenger air bag has come on. Air bag stays on even when no one is in seat.
