The "air bag" light remains onthe driver's side dashboard. The hyundai dealer says there is not a recall for this specific car for that problem.the repair station has told me twice that there is a recall in their system when they pull up the information.since the dealer will not take ownership - it is costing us $463 to get fixed so the car will pass inspection.

Started car and air bag light stayed , i'm not sure but i think there is recall for passenger front seat ...
My mother pulled in my driveway to park. The car made a weird sound and then accelerated at a quick speed. She pressed on the brakes and had skid marks to prove it, but the car would not stop. She ran into the next door neighbor's brick house. This happened on an easter sunday. My sister was in the front seat. My mother had abrasions from the seat belt and severe bruises to the chest from the air bag. My sister had bruising to her ribs and her leg was cut, which resulted in 5 stitches.
I purchased my hyundai azera 2008n used 2 years ago and have had minor issues with it.the heated seats cannot be turned off, the air bags do not work on the passenger side, brakes had a recall, and now gaskets are blown on the engine.i have spoke with the dealership and because its a whole new crew, the old crew was let go, they do not want to help with getting another car for me.tony, the salesperson,. Did try by passing me on to another dealership and they cannot help me.my car needs to be paid down some before any dealership will touch it.

08 azera:air bag light comes on along with passenger seatbelt warning.first would occur intermittently 2 yrs ago but for more than a week the airbag light would stays on (even when a passenger is seated or not). Had dealer look at it (when it was on) & they indicatedit is the passenger seat belt / wiring harness issue they've been replacing under a recall.indicated the car's vin didn't appear in recall but service rep. Said it appears to be the exact same issue.had replaced. Now it is occurring again.requesting hyundai corporate review and approve repair at no charge.concerned for our safety.
The airbag light came on in my car.i took it into the phil long hyundai dealership in colorado springs and was told that the passenger occupant detection sensor in the front passenger seat was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced.at first the service representative was very confident that hyundai would pay for the replacement, but after a phone call he was told that they would not because my vehicle had over 100,000 miles and i was not the original owner.(however, i do believe that this is a defective part because the same thing happened to my sister's hyundai.)the mileage on the car was 117,108 when i had the issue diagnosed.
Started having a problem with the vehicle when my wife rode with me and the "passenger airbag off" light flashed on and off.eventually, it started to remain on the whole time with her in the seat.now the passenger seat belt unfastened light flashes constantly with no one in the seat.i took it to my local hyundai to diagnose the issue and it is reading a fault code b1489 indicating an issue with the passenger occupant detection system (pods).since there are numerous other hyundai model's dating back to the mid-2000's that have had recall's on the pods, i am wondering if my vehicle may use the same seat sensor's that the other model's use.i haven't received a straight answer to if when the pods is defective, will the passenger airbags not deploy, or will they deploy no matter what should the event be triggered.
The main air bag indicator light on the gauge cluster keeps coming on, as well as the passenger seatbelt occasionally light which occurs when someone has sat in the passenger seat, then exits. Once the seat is empty, the seatbelt light was supposed to be light off, but the air bag light on the main cluster remains lit. The only time the light goes off is when the car is restarted momentarily, but the airbag light is back on and always comes on until the engine is off. I drive a car in dangerous status every time and every day.
Purchase 2008 hyundai azera ltd. On dec. 29, 2008. Car has 45000 miles and has always been garaged under roof. Dash board developed a rectangular crack on top of the passenger air bag. Complained to hyundai through braman motors and claim denied for being out of warrantee. I am afraid that the air bag malfunction and explode.
This accident happened in waco, texas, mclennan county.chevrolet pickup truck was traveling west on fm 308 on the inside lane.azera was traveling north on fm 933 on the outside lane.the driver of the chevrolet pickup truck was not wearing his corrective lenses according to his dl restriction (restriction a) and disregarded a stop sign and flashing red light at the intersection.due to this, the chevrolet pickup truck struck the azera fd to rbq.this collision spun the azera clockwise.the azera left the roadway to the east and went into a ditch and received fd damage.the azera came to rest facing south in the ditch.the chevrolet pickup truckcame to rest facing north on fm 933 on the inside lane.all air bags deployed in the azera except the drivers seat and drivers side curtain.driver received blunt force damage to his left shoulder.surgery was preformed on march 12, 2014.azera was towed to "big boys wrecker service, 415 s. Hyundai dealer couldn't find the problem.themechanictold me fluid was leaking everywhere.i told him there are no leaks in the braking system cause i checkedthe master system myself ialso had the brakes bieed=ok
Takata recall. The air bag light is on all the time. The tire tpms light always comes on saying it failing. When driving the car is shifting funny, sometimes is jolts forward and sometimes it will not shift correctly. Car was also just stalling out at stop lights. It has not done that in a little while but it goes through spells where it will do it every time i come to a stop. I do not have an exact date when everything started.
Air bag light on dash came on indicating the air bag would not work.my local hyundai dealer ( colonial hyundai in downingtown, pa) said the front passenger seat belt tension electrical sensor was defective and needed replacing.i paid them almost $500 to do that.the front passenger seat belt tension sensor wiring harness was the object of a previous recall on this car and was done.since the electrical sensor is on the same wiring harness which was the object of a recall i contacted hyundai america (800-633-5151) and asked them if they would cover the cost of replacing this electical sensor since it was on the same wiring harness that was the object of a previous recall.they assigned me a case # [xxx]and got back to me and said they would not cover this cost.seems odd that they would cover repairing part of this electrical assembly but not the rest of it so i am appealing to nhtsa for some help here or clarification.thanks for your attention to this matter,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
Automobile surged, then went from 60+ mph to 20+ mph (limp along mode).no check engine light until 20 mph mode was reached then check engine light came on just before car engine died.esc system was activated during incident - potentially by sudden speed decrease?. Pulled over to side of road and had to be towed 45 miles to nearest dealer.incident was 100+ miles from home with dealer tow - repair was 140 miles from home.car mileage - 25,803.dealer replaced throttle sensor and performed ecm update as a result of this visit.previously had same vehicle (3 weeks prior - 25,187 miles) at another dealer for similar complaint with surging problem.no check engine light present.it took them 2 days to diagnose problem, then had to wait for part and then install - total time at dealer (including over weekend) 5 days.drove car into dealer for first repair, no tow needed.initial dealer called tech support to help diagnose and initiated a case number with them.replaced mass air flow sensor during that visit.same symptoms at first incident including vehicle 'surging' at high rates of speed (50 mph+).lucky there wasn't a major injury or fatality with the type of speed drop in the second incident.i had just exited the busy interstate about 5 miles earlier for a 2-lane local highway.if the second incident had occurred on the major highway i fear a substantial crash and possible fatality would have occurred.after second incident, i called hyundai america to report incident and lodge complaint.they are 'investigating'.very concerning that this involves a throttle problem and potential electrical system failure at high rates of speed with no notice.this defect could easily cause a potential serious injury or fatality.very disappointed with this hyundai which we bought for reliability and safety.

I was using my mothers car and after parking and returning to the car the ignition key would not turn in either direction, i was told by the dealer that the ignition switch and housing had to be replaced, after research i discovered that this is a common problem for hyundai and kia cars, i got stranded because the car was unable to be driven and had to be towed to a dealer, ( there are only two keys on the key ring).
I purchased a used 2008 hyundai azera from a non-hyundai dealership.several days after taking possession of it, we drove it on an overnight trip out of town. On the drive back home, the front driver's seat, which is equipped with full power seat controls, moved forward autonomously, crushing my husband against the steering wheel while we were on the highway.he quickly pushed the power seat control to move the seat back, but as soon as he let go, the seat would move forward again.after several incidents of moving the seat back only to have it move forward again, he pulled over, got out, pushed the seat back, and got back in.however, once he was back in the car, it moved forward again. After moving it back yet again, it didn't move again for a little while. I contacted the sales person the following day. He said i needed to clear the "seat preference" memory (which i subsequently did several times) but otherwise he (and the dealership) disavowed any responsibility. Due to inclement weather, i drove another car for several days. But, when i went to drive the azera, the front driver's seat was up against the steering wheel, having moved on its own sometime after the car had been parked/turned off.i continued to find the seat up against the steering wheel over the next several days, despite it being in a normal position when i had turned the car off. Then the driver seat start moving forward while i was driving. I was able to override the control temporarily. I parked the car, but when i attempted to get back in it, it kept pinning me against the steering wheel.i finally managed to hold the seat switch with all my strength to drive the car several block home. It has since been towed to a hyundai dealership to be repaired. Given the other complaints of the seat moving on its own, i believe there is a defect in the switch equipment that hyundai should fix.

Car is locked, parked and no one is in it.the back reclining portion of the drivers will move towards the steering wheel by itself.i will move it back to position and begin to drive.the seat will move on its own toward the steering wheel, smashing me.i had to remove the headrest just to have some room.i will keep my hand on the seat controls and try to move it back into original position.sometimes this works but most of the time will not let me move it.while this is going on, my seat belt is also getting very tight and uncomfortable.several people have seen this happen and some have seen it while no one was in the car.the back of the drivers seat just moves toward the steering wheel.i am afraid to drive this car.if i cannot get the seat to return to position i am up against the air bag, which also scares me.if i had an accident while all this is going on, (and this is very frightening for me), the air bag would deploy and it wouldn't be good, i am sure.this is something i hear about on the news, air bags killing someone.i really need some assistance with this problem.this is a very serious and possibly dangerous situation.i would appreciate your help.
Oil leaks from the front cylinder bank straight into the alternator causing it to fail prematurely. The nhtsa issued a recall for this exact same issue for the 2006-2012 hyundai veracruz (nhtsa campaign number: 14v415000). You concluded in the consequence paragraph "an unexpected failure of motive power while driving increases the risk of a crash." i'm deeply concerned of this happening with my hyundai azera as it currently has oil leaking into the alternator. My azera has 80k original miles.the azera uses the exact same engine, front cylinder bank gasket, and alternator as the veracruz and subsequently suffers from the same problem that led to the recall issued for the hyundai veracruz.please review and compare my claim against the existing recall for the hyundai veracruz as outlined above. I feel it's worth noting i also currently own a recall effected veracruz and have both vehicles for side by side comparison. I thank you for your time and efforts exploring this issue on my behalf and all other hyundai azera owners. Let me know if i can be of further assistance in this matter.
While driving on the expressway the car lost all acceleration and i had to maneuver out of traffic to the side of the road.i was traveling out of state and it happened several times before i could get help.due to the danger it was towed to a dealer and they reported a throttle sensor was bad.
2008 hyundai azera.......driving speed limit (75) when the check engine light comes on but i have no acceleration ability. It occurred three times and but did make it home.in talking to a dealer he knew immediately that it was a throttle sensor.had this happened while passing or on a road w/ no shoulder, it could lead to an accident or fatality.hyundai america nor the dealer didn't seem very concerned...surprising considering the toyota problems.
Fire in engine compartment while car was parked & off.key was not in ignition.car sat unused for approx. 48 hours prior to fire.
The drivers side door is randomly unlocking without provocation. It happens most often when idling at a complete stop, accelerating from a complete stop or from a slow speed.the auto-lock function is disabled for up to several seconds after each occurrence so the door can not be relocked.in the beginning this happened rarely.now it's happening daily.
The contact owns a 2008 hyundai azera. While driving approximately 60 mph, the abs warning indicator illuminated and white smoke was seen coming from the front driver's side. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to o'brien hyundai of ft myers (2850 colonial blvd, fort myers, fl 33966, (239) 277-1222) where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic electric control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 132,000.
Recall number18v026000recall date01/09/2018componentservice brakes, hydraulic:antilockhyundai recalls azera and sonata for fire dangersjanuary 24, 2018 ' hyundai is recalling about 88,000 model year 2006-2011 hyundai azera and 2006 hyundai sonata cars because the engine compartments may catch on fire. On 1/10/18, 2 weeks prior to this recall my 2008 hyundai azera caught fire in my basement while it was parked and no key was in the ignition.this happened at 3:30am, our entire house, including both of our vehicles were destroyed. Nothing was salvageable.the automaker reveals in the government documents that water could enter the anti-lock brake module and cause an electrical short, which increases the risk of fire whether the vehicle is on or off. Hyundai says the recall is scheduled to begin on feb. 23, and that all necessary repairs will be made by dealers free of charge.here is an article that clearly states what could possibly happen with the recall.hyundai has yet to accept responsibility. While driving, suddenly abs indicator, esc off indicator and "abs system failure" message on dashboard showed up and had to make emergency stop since all of these scared me. Also scared me that vehicle's abs and stability control stop working.- after started driving slowly - some noise from front wheels were coming.went to dealer and told us that issue with "wheel speed sensor" and "tone wheel" damaged.. Why these sensors are exposed to road and damaged suddenly that make safety issue during driving and may have caused accident.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai azera. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, flames were present coming from the rear of the vehicle. After stopping at the local gas station, a citizen used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames coming from the engine compartment. The fire department was called to the scene and a fire report was failed. The cause of the failure was not determined and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer gettel hyundai of sarasota (3500 bee ridge rd., sarasota, fl) were both notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.

Whiledriving on a 2 lane country road with no shoulder to pull over on my speed dropped from 50 mph to about 10mph. There was no response when i pressed the gas pedal. I had to have my car towed some 43 miles to the hyundai dealer. The problem turned out to be that the throttle position sensor had failed. This failure, had it ocurred on a heavily traveled highway, could have resulted in following vehicles rearending my vehicle because of the sudden reduction in speed. I have reason to believe that the failure of this sensor is not uncommon on hyundai vehicles.

Re: 2008 hyundai azera / 78,000 miles. The vehicle was being driven at 45mph on a straight 4 lane highway when the driver's power seat suddenly moved all the way to the far rearward position, causing the driver to be unable to reach the brake pedal or accelerator. She pushed the seat switch to return the seat to the originally selected position, but when the switch was released, the seat again returned to the rearward position. She was able to move the seat forward, and keep it there by holding the switch to the forward position, temporarily regaining control of the car. While holding the switch in the forward position, a beeping sound was heard. Once stopped, the seat switch was released, and the seat again returned to the far rearward position. The vehicle has been taken to a local hyundai dealer, and they have advised that there were numerous codes related to the seat stored in the onboard computer system. Parts have been ordered, but have not yet arrived at the dealer.i have researched the internet, and found that there are many posts concerning the same problem. Some advise that only the seat back went forward, pinning the driver to the steering wheel, and others describe exactly what occurred on this car. In this instance, the entire seat moved and the backrest remained in the preset position. Fortunately, traffic was relatively light at the time, or the outcome could have been very different. There was no accident or injury sustained in this incident.
While driving the driver's side seat back automatically moved to it's forward position.after returning it to it's normal position it would start moving by itself again after a short time.the only way to stop it was to hold the lever in the down position which would also make the seat move down at times.
Driver seat moves by itself pinning the driver to the steering wheel. Seat moves by itself with the key in the off position.
1. When i drove the car, the power seat sometimes automatically went back to the end.and, i almost can't hit the brake.(i'm short and i always pull the seat to front.)after having this issue, i can't pull power seat to forward any more.but, after few times of driving, then, i can pull the seat to front.then, it happens again after few drives.2. It happens every two or three times when i drove the car.3. I was told that the track was replaced.but, the car still have the problem.and, i'm waiting for another part (not sure which part) to replace.
The contact owns a 2008 hyundia azera. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the front driver's side automatic seat moved independently into the forward position. The contact was able to move the seat into the proper adjustment however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 132,000. The vin was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2008 hyundai azera. The contact was driving 5 mph into a parking space when the driver's side front seat moved forward forcefully and independently. The failure recurred intermittently and without warning. The contact experienced difficulty steering and crashed into a building. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was inspected by a local dealer but no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the malfunction. Power driver seat moved on its own on numerous occasions to its full rear position, seat back moved to almost full recline, and seat height went to lowest position. This happened both while vehicle was unattended with ignition off and while vehicle was being operated at various speeds. Each time it happened while being operated i was unable to drive and had to stop vehicle and manually reset seat controls.

Either while driving or after an overnight idle, i often find the driver power seat has moved and reset itself.this happens intermittently and sometimes re-setting the seat is not possible.seat position locks back too far and too low.taking it to the myrtle beach hyundai dealer (6/28) proved futile.after a short examination the technician said he found nothing wrong.since then i have sporadically encountered the same unpredictability in the seat.i am concerned that the seat's moving while i'm driving could cause an accident.please advise.i need some help here. Thank you.
Power seat and back rest operates at will.while operating the vehicle i have had the seat move forward rapidly causing a dangerous and unsafe condition.hyundai has had many complainants in this area, and refuses torecall and repair the problem.how many injuries and death does it take in order to have the federal government act on this matter?

Power drivers seat moves on its own.it moves forward with the back seat rest pushing me and actually pinning me into the steering wheelthis occurs both while parked with the engine in the off or running, and in while the vehicle is being driven at any speed.the motion of the seat varies from sever to minor movement. It does not make any different if on the highway or urban streets. Unknown cause at this time.

The driver's side power seat is malfunctioning. The seat often moves on its own without operating the power position switch. This can be very dangerous. When inspected by hyundai dealer problem has not been resolved. Seat malfunction has happened both in motion and stationary.
The driver side power seats move forward as you are driving.the back of the seat pinned me forward against the driving wheel, and would not go back as i tried franticly to do.i was able to move to the side of the road.i shut off the vehicle and after sitting for a while i tried the electric seat control and the seat recline back again.i went down the road without incident, however the next day when i got into the car the seat was again forward up against the steering wheel.this is a true safety issue and i saw several others complain about this same issue on other year models as well posted on the internet. I am afraid to let my family drive this car.
Driver side power seat moves forward during vehicle operation. Electric motor for reclining back rest engages while vehicle is being driven. Motor pushes seat forward forcing driver dangerously close to steering wheel and compromising drivers ability to operate vehicle safely.
The contact owns a 2008 hyundai azera. The contact stated thatwhile driving at an unknown speed, the driver's side seat erroneously moved forward and forced the driver against the steering wheel. This is not the first time i had problems breaking i actually had my master cylinder replaced as well as my break pads. I was pulling up to a stop light today going only about 12 miles per hour as i was in a business area. I was pulling up to a stop light already breaking at 12 miles per hour or less my car speed off on its on running the red light! i almost had a heart attack. Lucky no cars was in front of me. I replaced my break pads thinking that was the problem. I had my master cylinder replaced as well so that's not the problem. Has anyone else with my car been in an accident with my car?

While driving, suddenly abs indicator, esc off indicator and "abs system failure" message on dashboard showed up and had to make emergency stop since all of these scared me. Also scared me that vehicle's abs and stability control stop working.- after started driving slowly - some noise from front wheels were coming.went to dealer and told us that issue with "wheel speed sensor" and "tone wheel" damaged.. Why these sensors are exposed to road and damaged suddenly that make safety issue during driving and may have caused accident.
I had abs failure light on aug 27th, 2013. When i checked with my friend, i found out he has the same issue in his car. We both purchased the same type of cars from the same dealer in april 2008. The warranty expired just a few months ago. The timing of the issue is puzzling to me. How come both cars have abs system failure during the same week?

Takata recall. The air bag light is on all the time. The tire tpms light always comes on saying it failing. When driving the car is shifting funny, sometimes is jolts forward and sometimes it will not shift correctly. Car was also just stalling out at stop lights. It has not done that in a little while but it goes through spells where it will do it every time i come to a stop. I do not have an exact date when everything started.
