Car involved in a high speed (65mph) on the interstate. Hit by 18 wheeler and a guard rail headon. Airbags did not deploy.
The vehicle rear ended a ford escape at under 20 mph.the hyundai sustained extensive front end and engine damage.the car was totaled and not repaired.the other vehicle received minor rear bumper damage.the air bags on the hyundai did not deploy and the driver hit her forehead and receive a bruised bump that did not require medical attention.
My 2012 hyundai accent just passed 100,000 miles and the passenger airbag light came on. I have had this same issue with a 2006 hyundai and i understand this is a longstanding issue with multiple models and years. The fix can be very invasive and expensive and only some are covered by recall. Checking the vin number, my hyundai is not currently covered by a recall, but i believe it should be as this is a continuing issue.
I slid of the road during a rain storm and crashed into a concrete light pole.the car was totaled and i sustained serious bodily injuries.a broken right ankle, severe whiplash which caused herniated discs in my neck and back injuries.i had my seat belt on.the airbag did not deploy even though my vehicle was completely destroyed.. .. .updated 07/21/15updated 9/22/2015
The contact owns a 2012 hyundai accent. The contact stated that the driver's air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
I was travelling east bound on memphis avenue at approximately 35 mph approaching tiedeman road in brooklyn, ohio.i attempted to apply the brakes which gave a rubbing and grinding noise and caused my 2012 hyundai accent to rear end another vehicle resulting in a total loss to my vehicle.the air bags did not deploy and i was treated for contusions to my ribs, arms, stomach, shoulder and face as well as a sprain to my wrist.my vehicle sustained substantial damage and was a total loss, so why didn't the air bags deploy!!
The contact owns a 2012 hyundai accent. While the contact was driving approximately 35 mph, the air bag warning indicator began to illuminate continuously as a result to water spillage on the front passenger seat. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated there was a short circuit in the front passenger seat sensor due to the water spillage. The vehicle had not been repaired because thefront passenger air bag seat sensor assembly remained unavailable since november of 2011. The contact expressed concern of the potential safety hazard with the air bag not being operative. The manufacturer was notified of the malfunction. The approximate failure mileage was 1,200. Updated 5/7/12 updated 05/30/12
The contact owns a 2012 hyundai accent. While stopped, the contact's vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic to assess the damages. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 35,281.
Air bags failed to deploy. This is the second car and the second time this has happened.
I hit an elk at about 60 miles per hour. Front end of car totaled. Bumper, headlights and fog lights ripped off. Hood crumbled upwards.pieces under the hood dislocated. Windshield scattered and partially disconnected. However driver's airbags didn't deployed.i walked away with minor injuries, body soreness. But concerned that the car might not performed as it should in this situationone more detail. I was traveling alone,no passenger.
The red air bag light is always on, and the passenger sensor is always off even when there is a passenger. I am concerned that if i were to be in a serious accident, the air bags will not deploy. This started at about 115,000 miles. The car also recently started to eat up my gas for no valid reason. I drove 1.5 miles, yet used up 10 miles of gas, entirely abiding by traffic laws and signs.
The contact owns a 2012 hyundai accent. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle due to another crash. The air bags failed to deploy. There was a police report filed. The contact sustained minor injuries to the abdominal and normal soreness that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for body repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
Takata recall. My wife was sideswiped by a hit and run driver and ran off the road onto a rough vacant field. Airbag failed to deploy and she hit her head on the steering wheel and suffered a skull fracture. Two weeks after the accident she started having memory problems and has suffered 5 strokes and a ct scan shows brain damage. This has gone on since april of 2012 and the car was just a few months old with approximately 8,000 miles on the car. It did about $ 8000.00 dollars in damage which was never repaired right until alfa insurance company in alabama sent us to the best body man around and he replaced the entire front end of the outer panels and all of the underside supports and matched the paint perfect. I expect my wife to either be in a nursing home or more strokes may kill her. I don't have the accident report since it's been almost 4 years since the accident. The hyundai accent is a death trap in my opinion and should not be on our united states roads at all. That car will kill you in the slightest accident and my wife is turning into a vegetable before my eyes.thank you, [xxx] . She did have a witness that was installing cable tv lines on a power pole she almost hit. We did file a lawsuit against and the attorney settled for about $10,000.00 and he sold us out. She can't have nursing care for that amount.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
The contact owned a 2012 hyundai accent. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, when a deer ran into her lane and she ran into it.the air bags did not deploy. The contact stated her sister was sitting at the rear driver side and medical attention was required the following day because she had a headache due to whiplash. The contact also stated she had a passenger seated at the front passenger side that also required medical attention. The vehicle was not drivable. The insurance adjuster deemed the vehicle was loss. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I start the car and the air bag sensor comes on and stays on, then the passengers seat belt comes on whien i have a passenger seated there. I feel this is a saftey issue and hyundaii should fix it!!!! i contactedhyundai customersupport, they stated its my problem and they would not help.
I was in a head on collision with a vehicle where i was going approximately 45 mph.my complaint is that there air bag did not deploy during the incident which caused me to bang my head against the sun visor/ roof of the car.the vehicle was totaled.
My son in law, daughter, son, & grandson were driving in the rain & the car hydroplaned causing the car to go off the road & hitting a tree killing my son in law & seriously injuring my son. Needless to say the car was totaled & none of the air bags deployed.
All power windows have gone out cannot roll up all motors out 280 each to replace only 60k miles
Got car in 2011 in 2015 it stopped working after making loud noises that began with a chirp, found out it was alternator and battery. Had to borrow to fix it it was 700.00 +. 14 months later it did it again, the shop guy was so angry he contacted his parts guy and got another alternator, i had the car towed to joseph's garage and they installed the second alernator! now its doing it again!!!! i cannot keep doing this. Going to ftc, bbb, and attorney general. Also federal consumer protection.

On saturday march 23, 2019 i was driving my 2012 hyundai accent on the highway. I was traveling in the left hand lane, on cruise control, going about 73 mph. A semi-truck in the right hand land a few hundred yards in front of me moved over into my lane due to a construction zone ahead, so i attempted to turn off my cruise control to slow down for the merging semi-truck. I applied the brakes but my car did not turn off cruise-control or slow down, but instead accelerated. I attempted again to hit the brakes to turn off cruise control, but again the car did not slow down. I tried both the cancel and the on/off buttons on the steering wheel, but there was no way to disengage cruise control. I was quickly approaching the semi-truck and was unable to slow down my moving vehicle. In order to avoid rear-ending the semi-truck at highway speeds, i was forced to veer left off the highway onto the soft shoulder, and was traveling locked on cruise control at 73 mph halfway on the grass median and halfway on the rumble strip of the soft shoulder. The brakes and steering wheel switches were still not working, regardless of how much i applied the brakes or what combination i hit the switches. I was finally able to get my car to slow down by hitting the clutch and stalling my car. This was an absolutely horrific incident, and i am lucky to have been uninjured and to have avoided what could have been a very serious accident.
Around 50000 miles the car would over rev about 1000-2000 rpm when the clutch was released and foot off of the gas.it has progressively gotten worse. Now it will on its own while standing at idle run up to 5000-6000 rpm without warning and the only way to stop it is to turn the car off.when in gear, the car will accelerate without warning.if you depress the clutch, again it will run up to 5000-6000 rpm.the problem becomes exacerbated in warmer weather and lessened in cold weather.during the 12/24 heat wave here in pa, the car was undriveable and dangerous as i could not depend on it not "taking off".the dealer updated the software on 12/22 which did not resolve the issue, and no codes were found in the computer! before 50,000 miles everything was fine.
I start the car and the air bag sensor comes on and stays on, then the passengers seat belt comes on whien i have a passenger seated there. I feel this is a saftey issue and hyundaii should fix it!!!! i contactedhyundai customersupport, they stated its my problem and they would not help.
Jul 02,2020manufacturer recall number193nhtsa recall number20v393000recall statusrecall incompletesummaryhyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2012 hyundaielantra and sonata hybrid, 2012 accent and veloster vehicles. The 12vaccessory socket outlet may have been over-tightened duringinstallation, possibly disabling the thermal fuse and allowing theoutlet to overheat with prolonged use, such as by using the tiremobility kit air compressor to inflate a tire.yesterday, 2020-10-19, since i never owned the original air pump, thedealer (vision hyundai - henrietta new york) refused to repair myvehicle. But both he and you (nhtsa) seem to be making a seriouslyegregious error in logic.any third party device which plugs into the 12v accessory port couldcause the same risk of fire because it is the *port* which isdefective, not the air pump.that's what the recall notice says, i quote from above:> the 12v accessory socket outlet may have been over-tightened during> installation, possibly disabling the thermal fuse and allowing the> outlet to overheat with prolonged use, hyundai's proposed work-around of using a direct to battery harnessconnection is ridiculous on two counts.1. It doesn't solve the root-cause problem.2. It requires customers to manually connect wires to the battery, something that we know can be dangerous.i quote:per your own research data:from october 1993-september 1994, there were 581 injuries from checkingthe battery cables, and 444 injuries from jump starting the battery.for a total of 1025 injuries in one year alone! (data from table 1)(retrieved 2020-10-20 from https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/api/public/viewpublication/97840)surely, you (nhtsa) wouldn't endorse a solution which has worse safetyhazzards than the original problem. Would you?
I was driving down the road during the day and looked down and my high beams were on. I wasn't sure why since my lights were in the off position. I tried playing with the lighting switch on the inside of my car, and it finally turned off after flashing the high beams on and off with the switch a few times. I took a picture, and then started driving, about a mile or so down the road, the high beams came back on, so i headed toward the dealership, and people were moving out of my way on the two lane highway since my high beams were on. The said without being able to duplicate the issue, they couldn't be sure why it happened. When it happened again, i took my car to the dealership with it happening and they played with the switch to get them to shut off and told me i had no clue how to work my lights, that my day time running lights were on, and when i informed him my car didn't have them, he didn't believe me. I kept going back and even had my lawyer get involved since they said nothing was wrong. There were even times when i started my car with the remote start and the high beams came on themselves, and i drove all the way home with no other exterior lights on since i hadn't realized the lights weren't on, since the headlights had been on. Finally went to a shop that they work hand in hand with to install remote starters and remote door unlocks, and they had to call the dealership to tell them that the lighting switch was bad. Before they were called, they told my lawyer i paid bottom dollar for my car and i might as well submit a lemon law request, but they were not going to fix it.

The switch for the windows in the back suddenly stopped working. There was a loud pop! and suddenly the windows couldn't be raised back up and instead stayed at half mast. It happened to one rear window, and then a couple months later, happened to the other. I have to manually push the windows up with my hands when the rear windows fall.
Car would not start. Found information online regarding several complaints about a transmission shaft sensor and a quick fix by placing the car in neutral and back to park. Used this fix and car subsequently started.
For some reason now since moving my driver side door will not open from the inside. Also the motor for the windows is acting like it doesn't want to work i have a hard time closing windows once they are out down. Help.
The contact owned a 2012 hyundai accent. While parked, rodents entered the vehicle and chewed through the electrical wiring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be inspected. While drive about 60 mph the check engine light came on (02/20/2018). I went to get the codes read by a local auto parts store. The codes p050a and p0326 were identified. I have had many issues with the check engine light coming on with the same codes. When i make an appointment to get it checked out. The check engine light goes off. I have just had my vehicle inspected and emission test completed by the #1 cochran hyundai dealership (monroeville, pa) on 02/16/2018. This seems to be a continuous issue. Check engine light comes on for maybe a week or so then goes off for a week or so.
Check engine light for knock sensor keeps coming on and off. This is constance issue that i have been having. I have notify the dealership but they arr saying that therr is no recall regarding knock sensor on a 2012 hyundai accent gls.

On august 5th after a 20 minute drive my car was parked in a friends driveway. Moments after exiting the vehicle the engine caught fire. There were no previous issues. Smells. Warning lights. Drove just fine. Thanks to a passing off duty fireman he stopped and sprang into action with the garden hose until the fire dept arrived just moments later. Because the engine was one giant melted mess allstate was unable to determine the cause. There were no injuries. Hyundai showed no recalls after entering my vin number. It was my third hyundai and still shocked this happened.

At about 80,000 miles, the vehicle started making a loud and constant knocking sound in the engine.the hyundai dealership service department determined that: "internal rods are making knocking sound - engine must be replaced."this very loud knocking happens all the time whether the vehicle is stationary or moving.the vehicle is not safe to drive.this issue is identical to the 2015 recall of many other hyundai vehicles from the same model year (i.e. Nhtsa campaign number: 15v568000).hyundai denied this claim since the vehicle is out of warranty.hyundai consumer affairs case#: 10847090.
The engine just stopped while driving. It was determined that the connecting rod broke and failed on the number one piston.pieces of metal caused the crankshaft to lock up and pieces pierced the block causing complete engine failure. The connecting rod was cast wrong and it seems after the car has 100k miles it gives out. To me this is a safety hazard.
The contact owns a 2012 hyundai accent. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle started to vibrate and the abs, engine, 02 sensor, and catalytic converter warning indicators illuminated. After a few moments, the vibration stopped. The vehicle was taken to werner hyundai (252 capital cir sw, tallahassee, fl 32304, (850) 575-1000) where it was diagnosed that the brake system and engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 133,100.
Takata recalli am at 130,000 miles and there is no oil leaking, but every time i get an oil change it just disappears. Even if i'm not driving 1000 mi/month, it is completely dry within a few weeks of getting an oil change. I have to constantly put oil in my car in between oil changes every 3 months.
The contact owns a 2012 hyundai accent. While operating the vehicle, the vehicle accelerated on its own. While parked, the vehicle would rev to approximately 5,000-6,000 rpms even when the brake pedal was depressed or when the vehicle was in another gear. The only way to stop the failure was to remove the key from the ignition. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
Cam shaft splitsystem emission failure .lighter socket not working. Valvolibe oil change 7/16/21mail recall. Recieved 7/1721 vehichle loud sound. .acceleration not speeding .car. Not drivable.
Driving on the highway i heard a knocking in the engine. The check engine light came on. I took the vehicle to get the light checked for a code and was told the knock sensor needed replacing. Took the car to the dealer i purchased it from and dealer said there was no code and no history of a code so they could do nothing about it after i told them how to replicate the knocking. Dealer released the car. Two days later while driving on the highway the light came back on and the engine continued knocking. I took it straight to the dealer again and they were able to replicate the issue and find a code. The dealer contacted the manufacturer about the code and the manufacturer recommended applying a patch to the knock sensor and, according to the dealer "see what happens". The dealer performed the patch and released the vehicle to me. The very next day i was driving home after work on the highway and the odometer went from 3000rpm's to 0. While i could try to engage the accelerator and could hear the engine rev no rpms registered. The vehicle went into an idle state and would not react. Causing many near accidents i was able to get the car to the shoulder before it became stationary. Attempted to restart car a dozen times and the rpm's would not register still.car has now been with the dealer who has not been able to replicate the issue and has not reached out to the manufacturer. The cause and effect of an issue happening after applying a computer patch is not being investigated nor discussed with the manufacturer.
After starting the engine and tapping on the accelerator, the car will accelerate on it's own and rev up to 1,500-2000 rpm without pressing on the accelerator. Even when braking. Returning the car to neutral causes the engine to rev up to or beyond 2,000 rpm until the vehicle has been turned off. This incident first occurred in april 2016. I was told there was an issue with the sensors by the hyundai dealership. The issue resurfaced again in january 2017. This time they told me it was due to a carbon buildup in the fuel system. Now it's doing it again. I have seen many other reports of this happening to hyndai's on the internet. This is a huge safety issue.
Vehicle started to jerk . Showed there was no oil in engine after 2 weeks of being filled up . There was no leak reported .
My vehicle has caught fire on 11/14/20 as it was parked at resident. We heard a pop sound and then fire started. June i had my battery replace. Feb i had issue with the )2 sensor that has been taken car of. After the fire i received a recal notice.

2012 hyundai accent 4dr sedan knocking in the engine compartment, engine light comes on and code is stored, the code is for knock sensor needing to be replaced...the true reason for this to put out code for knock sensor fauilare are that the connecting rod bearing is going out and that little bit of play between the rod and crank makes the knock sensor code come up it knocks moving or not this is a serious proublem the engine could have a serious engine failuare and at mid speed it can and will be life treating, fire, parts being thrown threw fire wall hitting occupants in car or outside it started the knocking at 130000 miles i am a mechanic of over 40 years
The contact owns a 2012 hyundai accent. While the vehicle was stopped, the contact heard knocking noises coming from the engine compartment. Before they were called, they told my lawyer i paid bottom dollar for my car and i might as well submit a lemon law request, but they were not going to fix it.

Car is accelerating by itself, and continues to increase speed after the gas pedal is no longer pressed.this occurs while in motion on city streets, on highways, and when turning. And when stationary or in neutral the rpms will jump by 1500 to 2000 rpms. Is a manual transmission and the rpms jump up 1500+ when shifting gears.started happening around 55,000 miles dealer reset the ecm which resolved the issue temporarily but came back within 2 weeks, car now has 61,000 miles and has been getting worse.
The car is less than 8 years old , maintnance properly, there is no where visible to check transmission fluid during a routine fluid changeand when i had the transmission checked and the fluid it was fine . All of a sudden 3 days later my transmission is stuck in 4th gear now it wont move back or forward . I have noticed that a lot of accent owners have had this same problem and some sooner after having theirs than mine.
I start the car and the air bag sensor comes on and stays on, then the passengers seat belt comes on whien i have a passenger seated there. I feel this is a saftey issue and hyundaii should fix it!!!! i contactedhyundai customersupport, they stated its my problem and they would not help.
Occasionally over a few week period i heard a noise like something needed to be greased but could no locate and checked engine belts which seemed alright. I drove the car and it seemed to be dragging while maintaining speed and slowing down quickly during deceleration. I arrived at my destination and walked around the car. The passenger side rear tire and hub were smoking hot. I had the car towed to the dealer and they did some kind of repair for $ with a $10..00 part called a pkbrake kit. They have not provided me with an itemized bill and description of the work performed on my vehicle which i have requested. The multipoint inspection performed by dealer states additional work may be necessary on the brakes but will not inform me what service i need. I am confused how there are 11 repair bulletins for my car and the service department never said anything to me or fixed anything.
When driving, especially in colder temperatures, when accelerating and braking, the brakes feel like there is something not letting the pedal go down when you push them. Ever since i noticed that happen, the acceleration and speed stays at a higher speed when driving. I have to be very careful when accelerating behind another vehicle so it doesn't go too fast and hit the vehicle in front of me. I have to use my brakes a lot more right after accelerating.
I was traveling home from the store may 3rd 2014 and came into a curve on route 20 between princeton and athens w.v.. The curve was to the right in a low but steep bank at 40 mph and the right front wheel caliper grabbed causing immediate loss of speed and caused momentary loss of control but regained as soon as the caliper released which was in approximately two seconds. Fortunately no oncoming traffic was around or it could have been messy. The wheel was feeling sluggish after the incident and i'm no longer happy with this vehicle, it is to dangerous. The same thing just happened again today may 4th 2014.
I am a very cautious driver who is very easy on my brakes, to prevent wear.i could not stop in time when a vehicle in front of me suddenly stopped and had to turn, even though i had plenty of space to stop,i had to swerve in front of another vehicle because my brakes are worn down at 17k miles??? something is obviously wrong with the brakes in a 2012 hyundai accent.there needs to be a recall.even if i floor the brake pedal i don't stop and hear grinding noises.
My brakes had been making a noise. Not really loud but a slight grind.i was told i needed brake pads.i was going to get them during the weekend.i came to a stop at light and heard a popping/banging noise.i then could not move.my car was locked up.my father looked and thought it was maybe ebrake so we loaded on trailer and brought to dealership.it was the caliper, the piston shot off and locked up wheel.the dealer said he had never seen anything like it but unfortunately it would not be covered under warranty.i have read several other complaints about the brakes...i realize i have high mileage but i have brought it to dealer two times due to issues with brakes - first time i was told it was fine, second time i was told pads low.????
I have continued to have problems with the braking system, steering and suspension which started when i was coming home from picking my son up from school dec. 21 2012. There was snow on the road and i tried to slow down going down an incline but the brakes caused the car to jump, the steering would not respond fast enough and the suspension felt like we were riding on metal rims. I almost hit a telephone pole but we slowed in the softer snow which wasn't beat down yet. Ever since then when there is snow or icy roads especially up here in the mountains of west virginia i test the brakes, steering and suspension on the road i live on before going on the highway. Oh, i forgot to mention that if you should be unfortunate enough to hit a pothole it does through the car to the right if your right front wheel catches it and if your left front wheel catches one it will put you into oncoming traffic. I had this happen to me several times over the past years.
We purchased a 2012 hyundai accent on october 19, 2011. From the very first day we started having issues where the brakes would not brake at times and would have bouts of unintended acceleration. From the first day of purchase we advised the hyundai dealership and even brought in our vehicle to be looked at. They refused to do any kind of diagnostic and said that i was being a paranoid woman and new moms tend to worry too much. My husband and i have both driven this vehicle and experienced this issue. We advised hyundai, the dealership and our insurance company of the issue. Each time we brought the car into the dealership the acted very cavalier as it was "not a big deal" and would send us on our way. We had various communications and have paperwork where the dealership noted we were complaining of the brakes not working and then they would state they did not/will not do a diagnostic. I would not allow my children to ride in this vehicle further as it became apparent that this was not only going to keep happening but as time passed it happened more frequently and caused me to fear for my life. In december 2013 i advised my husband i feared for my life. One week later 12/16/13 i was in an accident where i was slowly turning, went to brake and the brakes felt empty as they did when this would happen and the car revved loudly and accelerated at an extreme speed. These bouts of unintended acceleration are documented yet hyundai and the hyundai dealership will not respond appropriately,. They dismissed my claim stating our floor mat protector which lays flat and has plenty of clearance is the cause however i must advise and have responded that the floor mat protectors were not purchased until the following year and did not get put into the vehicle until july of 2013 so the documented incidents were mostly before and one in july 2013 after they had been placed in the car.
Cracks in both rear brake rotors discovered during routine tier rotation.
I was driving at approximately 65 mph when i heard a sudden loud pop/noise that appeared to have come from the rear right side of the car. I thought a tire had exploded. I parked the car on the side of the highway, and upon expecting the car , i could not visually observe anything wrong with the tires or any other part of the car. Later on that day , as i was driving the cari began to hear some grinding noiseevery time i slowed down, turned or when softly applyingmy brakes.i called the dealership but they could not service my car until 4 days later so i contacted a mechanic that following day and he said that i needed rear brake pads and new rear rotors. The right rotor had been grinded away on the upper part and the left rotor showed signs of overheating. The mechanic ended replacing the rear rotors and rear brake pads. I use the car for commuting from work to home and viceversa (i drive 50% on the freeway/about miles each day)however it was noticedthe front rotors and brake pads are still in good condition. Has anybody experienced similar brake/rotor with this car?
Tamara recall my car keeps shutting off and won't get any rpms and it doesn't show anything on the code reader, one of those times i had kids in the car and i had no brakes at all when it shut off the engine but kept the radio on
2012 hyundai accent.consumer writes in regards to vehiclefaulty brake calipers and seeks reimbursement for repairs.in october 2012, a service repair shop, informed the consumer, the right rear brake pad was completely worn out and the rotors needed to be turned. The left rear caliper had not stuck and the brake pad still had lots of wear left on it.the next day, the consumer went to the dealer to have the vehicle repaired under warranty. The dealer informed the consumer t he repair was not covered under warranty, because the right rear caliper slide had become dirty and was stuck, thus causing the service problem. While the vehicle was in the air, the consumer noticed the aluminum pad depth indicator clip was broken also. If that had been working, theproblem would have been caught sooner. The consumer went back to the local repair shop, and the refused to fix the problem because they were adamant the caliper issue was hyundai's responsibility and under warranty. The consumer eventually paid to have the pads replaced and the rotors turned at a cost of $ 271.00.
While driving my car in a 25 mph speed limit school zone, my steering wheel locked making it impossible to control my car on what coincidentally was a curvy road after having just made a right turn. Therefore as i had just begun to pick up speed, having to follow a curve about 500 yards thereafter, my steering wheel remained in the position i had placed it in order to follow the curve, locking immediately after. In losing control of my car, my initial reaction was to try to shift my steering wheel but as it didn't budge, i hit about 2 or 3 concrete median blocks, at about 15 mph. The concrete blocks were lined along a curvy road that was blocking off an uneven field of grass that my car drifted into; luckily, there was a sewage manhole jolting out from the ground that managed to slow down my car before i managed to pull the emergency break. Luckily, as i continue to emphasize on my luck, because that is simply how i feel, if this would've occurred in any other scenario such as an expressway, or any high traffic via, there could've been several casualties including my own.
When driving on the highway i noticed the steering became extremely loose. I was traveling around 65 mph in a straight line second lane to the right on a five lane highway - no puddles or water on the pavement and all of sudden the car lost control between the steering and the tires. I began to swerve multiple times and had to fight the car from spinning out of control by pressing the breaks and maneuvering the steering many times to the opposite side the car was swerving to. I was not around many cars and thankfully did not hit anyone and was eventually able to after repeated loses of control to move to the right shoulder of the highway off the road. The car was not damaged. I called for help and when family arrived they noticed that the tires would stop after i would turn the steering eventually, but the steering would continue rotating 2 to 3 times more even when the tires where locked. Because of this i called my insurance company and requested a tow to the hyundai dealership i purchased the car from 6 years earlier. After their mechanics diagnosed the car they could not replicate what had happened to me, but i advised that others saw the issue with the steering and tires as well. Online other affected consumers have mentioned that this has also happened to them and when the car is turned off it appears as if nothing is wrong but it can happen again spontaneously. I am not getting anywhere with the dealership as they think i hydroplaned but i advised i was going in a straight line, there was no water on the highway, and the steering was loose where other reported the same thing... That the steering would continue turning even thought the tire were locked. I do not feel safe in the car and do not think i should have to purchase a new car that i would have to pay for completely. Waiting for corporate to contact me back as well but this is mechanical defect failure!

Hello my name is[xxx],i have 2012 hyundai accent and the steering on this car is absolutely ridiculously stupid and lame and frustrating.when you drive this car on the freeway you gotta constantly keep turning the wheel left and right to keep the car running straight.i have read somewhere that this car is with electric steering or something... I'm not familiar but there is some kind of problem.i have read in the forums that it could be steering columns... But i think hyundai suppose to come out with a recall. I have called them like 5 month's ago i explained to them the whole situation they said that they gonna give me a call but they never did.so please help me because this car drives me crazy! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Unable to open driver's side door to exit vehicle. I have to roll down window and use exterior handle to get out of vehicle. The vehicle was stationary.my warranty was 2 months and 2 days expired. Dealership wanted $140 just to diagnosis the problem. I did not have the money to do this.my son removed the door handle and found a broken plastic clip that normally would engage and open the door. We were unable to find a replacement part.i am concerned that if i need to exit the vehicle quickly, i would be unable to do so.
About 4 months after i bought a 2012 hyundai accent new, the rear plastic bumper cover, in the area by the exhaust pipe, developed a 2-inch or so crack with no seeming cause.i didn't hit anything, and nothing hit me.i'm assuming it was related to hot exhaust gases hitting the cover.hyundai did pay for the repair.however, 3 years later, another similarly sized crack has developed in the same area.as you know, in many cars the exhaust pipe extends beyond the rear bumper.so, in those cars, the rear bumpers don't get hit by hot exhaust gases.that's not the case with the 2012 accents.perhaps hyundai needs to extend the exhaust pipe beyond the bumper.for those who think maybe a rock did the damage in both cases---my front plastic bumper (like your front bumper) routinely/occasionally gets hit with little pebbles and rocks thrown at it by other cars in front of me, but that bumper has no cracks, just little nicks in the plastic.so i don't think rocks caused both cracks, and i don't think it's merely a coincidence that both cracks are located by the exhaust pipe.anybody else experience anything similar?

The metallic silver paint that the company used to cover the black plastic housing for the window and lock buttons easily scratches and scrapes off with "normal" routine touching and with "normal" resting of the arms on these area. The company rep won't admit that they used cheap paint or didn't think about these "high traffic" areas when deciding to use inferior non-durable paint on these parts.i have only had my car for 6 months and the dpsm from hyundai (marietta, georgia - southern headquarters) is not acknowledging the bad manufacturing choice of using the substandard, non-durable coating for these parts. These metallic painted parts cannot withstand everyday "normal" use, as they become unattractive and worn in a very short period of time. (within 6 months - in my case).
My vehicle has caught fire on 11/14/20 as it was parked at resident. We heard a pop sound and then fire started. June i had my battery replace. Feb i had issue with the )2 sensor that has been taken car of. After the fire i received a recal notice.
I was driving home when the driver-side door handle fell apart.the silver plastic coating was peeling, but the door handle seemed fine otherwise when i got in my car to drive home.luckily, i was in the driveway, pulling into my garage.the car door would not close or lock afterwards.
I have had a clunking noise on this vehicle since buying it. It would make the noise on the smallest bumb, slowing down, turning, and on the highway. The previous owner said she tried getting it fixed but no one could pinpoint where the nouse was coming from. I asked around i got the same response, also told, "if it's not messing with your performance, ignore it." recently going over bumb it started making another squeak noise, i went to a tire shop and asked for them to look at my sway bar, tur s other top mount of my driver side strut had a bolt that could not be tightened down.
At 33,000 miles the tires had to be replaced but i thought this was acceptable mileage for low profile tires.then one year later at 58,000 miles, the tires had to be replaced again, now at 77,000 miles, the tires are getting to a point of replacement again.the tire wear is excessive on the rear of the car.the tires are rotated every 6,000 miles and kept properly inflated.each time the tires have been replaced a 4 wheel alignment was performed.the printout i have indicates the rear of the car is out of acceptable specs.i let hyundai perform the last alignment and they did not mention any repairs were needed and would not let me keep a copy of the alignment printout.i recently had another alignment specialist just look at the car and he suggested i take it to a body shop to have the rear suspension of the car reworked/replaced in order to get the rear tires close to where they should be located.in good weather there is a constant need to turn the steering wheel to keep the car in the correct lane.the car is difficult to drive in any kind of inclement weather because of the constant need to correct the direction of travel.in snow and ice the car constantly "fish tales".when a bump in the road is encountered and one of the rear tires bounces, the rear of the car will dart to the side that the tire has less contact with the road.
The engine light is blinking on the dashboard and making too much sound from the engine, took the car to mechanic he said problem with o2 sensors and catalyst system effieciency (p0420) code

Rear right shock mounting nut ,all 4 welds broken off frame shock mount..i was told by 3 mechanics this is a factory defect.dealer wont cover , 5yr ,60,000 mile warranty up.car only has 48,000 miles on it.
3 out 4 of the stock kumho tires have now developed bubbles in the side walls.
I was turning a corner going to work and the front passenger tire popped.i called the roadside assistance to come take care of the vehicle.only to learn that there was no spare tire, when i specifically asked the salesperson if there was one he stated yes.the car had to be towed to the dealers.the dealer then tells me that i must have hit something because the sidewall of the tire had a hole in it.however, i did not hit anything nor rub a curb.they are not standing behind the warranty of the tires and notified me that the tires on the vehicle are discontinued.i asked why they were discontinued and got the run around.. I asked if defective and no response.
The contact owns a 2012 hyundai accent se. The contact stated that while traveling 50 mph, he drove into a pothole which caused the passenger front tire to blow. The vehicle did not come equipped with a spare tire but rather a tire sealant. The hole was too large for the sealant to be effective, leaving the contact stranded. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure and current mileages were 1,000.
The contact owns a 2012 hyundai accent. The contact stated that the vehicle did not come equipped with a spare tire. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that the vehicle was not equipped with a spare tire for economical reasons. The failure mileage was 5.
I purchaseda 2012 hyundai accent 5 door 03/02/21012 and discovered after the purchase there was no spare tire just a repair kit. I was not told before the purchase. Who would even think that a spare was not included. This is a safety issue especially if you are on the side of the road in the dark and it's inclement weather . The tire kit instructions are hard to understand. I contacted hyundai and my secretary of state to complain about the safety issue. Hyundai's explanation was it was for better mileage and the dealer told me that hyundai now makes a spare for the 2012 elantra for a price and the spare for the accent is in process, once again for a price. It will be an option . I have also contacted my aaa because if i get a flat they will have to use the kit or tow me,for a price , to the nearest dealer.better mileage is great but so isn't safety.
I was washing my 2012 accent in may of 2013 and i noticedwhat i thought to be dirt above the hatchback window. Upon further inspection i noticed that it was a rust spot coming up from under the paint and clear coat. There was only a spot about the size of a number two pencil point. As of today( 4-13-14) there are five spots of rust coming up all of various size and now i found one on my driver side door. Has anyone else reported rust coming from under the paint ? which to me means the recycled metal when smelted did not remove the rust during the process.

Last friday august 14, 2020, i begin a complaint against this dealer through field office motor vehicle division in phoenix, az.cordially,[xxx]customerinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My vehicle has caught fire on 11/14/20 as it was parked at resident. We heard a pop sound and then fire started. June i had my battery replace. Feb i had issue with the )2 sensor that has been taken car of. After the fire i received a recal notice.
My car would not start all of a sudden even though all dash lights came on with key in, battery was checked and deemed fine and starter was confirmed as good. Was towed to my mechanic, ran diagnostics, nothing wrong came up and they were able to start it right up. Now home and 10 days later and i have no start issue again. Stationary in my condo lot both timers.
After i see i have a recall in the nhtsa webpage, i take my car to the dealership in torrance, ca. As a result i was told "they can't do anything and can't provide a solution or an agency to clear out this issue". The problem is that: "if the compressor accessory is connected to the 12v outlet to inflate a tire will possibly cause an overheat at the car outlet". I stated: "i don't have such accessory and i have a regular spare tire". After that was confirmed i requested to clear the recall since i don't have that accessory and only that accessory cause the problem to the outlet. That didn't change their attitude to provide a solution and the technician raymond said: "we are sorry but there is nothing we can do". In my opinion doesn't make sense to tag a car "unsafe with a recall" for an external accessory that is not even in the car or in the market. Solution 1: create a permanent sticker and set next to the 12v outlet "do not connect devices that consume more than (what ever are the amps or watts that cause the overheat)solution 2: dissemble the 12v outlet and re-assemble with the correct torqueadd to the recall "minor issue, car performance is not in danger"

Rpm accelerates from time to time, once the vehicle is completely parked. Needles shoots up to 5 very quick. Also, while the car is operating, it seems it wants to accelerate.its happened several times.
Fake recall notice sent by route 46 hyundai by m&m advertising, inc. When checking the vin there were no recalls. Scam/misleading mailer. The ftc previously sued toyota dealerships for similar mailings.
2012 hyundai accent. Consumer would like to know when parts will be available to perform repairs related to safety recall.
Traction control malfunctioned on a sunny day in neighborhoodcausing my car to fish tail and flip over causing life threatening injuries.
This is manual transmission equipped car- intermittently, usually after the car has sat overnight or for a few hours, the throttle will stick even after the gas peddle is released. This started with the revs rising 500-1000 rpm when the clutch was pressed in and the accelerator released. Initially this only happened when the clutch was pressed in, not while the car was driving in gear. Recently, if the gas pedal is released in normal driving conditions, the car will continue to accelerate forward while it is in gear. The effect lasts for 1-3 seconds and is most noticeable in city driving in lower gears. On the highway you can "feel" the throttle stick, but the higher gears prevent the car from surging forward.the effect is lessened or removed entirely if the throttle is eased off of very slowly. The sticking of the throttle has not reduced the effectiveness of braking so far.

Throughout november 2019, my 2012 hyundai accent hatchback with automatic transmission( vin [xxx] )has been experiencing unintended acceleration.i have taken it to a mechanic who cleaned everything between gas pedal and computer, and the problem ameliorated for a week or so.now the problem is back.in normal driving, lifting my foot off the accelerator sometimes slows the vehicle and other times it maintains speed or accelerates. (this is without cruise control engaged).when stopped in traffic, it will lurch forward when brake is released.when parking it often red-lines as soon as [ut into neutral.so far my remedy has been to turn the key off.however, my wife is now too frightened to ride in the car.i see all the other complaints of unintended acceleration in your database.how many deaths will it take for you to wake up to a serious defect?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I have previously reported this.my 2012 hyundai accent with automatic transmission often surges.on the highway, it willcontinue at same speed or even accelerate when i lift my foot. Stopped in traffic, itwill lurch forward when the car ahead of me moves and i lift my foot.when parking, it will red-line when i shift to neutral or park.this does not happen all the time, buthappens throughout certain trips, from when i begin to drive, until i exit the car.i have been to the dealer for evaluation, they say there are no codes, so it didn't happen.apparently it did not occur during their test drive.this is a chronic problem and has been going on for a couple of months.when car tries to run away, i turn off the key.will that remedy continue to work?
My car is a manual transmission and when press the clutch the rpm go up to 4,000 rpm and i think that is the acceleration pedal may stay stock because doesn't do it all the time.i used my car everyday to go to work i really treat the car good only have a 25.000 miles on it.
The accelerator pedal sticks in the down position and doesn't immediately return to the fully disengaged position. This happens anytime i press down on the accelerator pedal, especially in cold weather. The engine stays reved for up to 3 seconds after i take my foot off the pedal and i can feel the pedal slowly move back up. Sometimes i have to pull it back up to the neutral position. Occasionally, the accelerator pedal will stay engaged even after i press the brake, causing the car to lurch forward when i release the brake pedal. This has been a continuing problem that has been getting worse for the past two years....updated 07/10/17..updated 08/09/17 the consumer stated the accelerator pedal assembly was replaced.
The gas pedal started sticking partway down, causing the car to accelerate precipitously and the engine to rev, even when in park. Once, when driving, i solved the revving noise by literally reaching down to the pedal and yanking it back up towards me once i stopped at a stoplight.the repair shop noted that this seems to be a common problem in hyundai accents, with stories of it readily available online.the problem was solved when they replaced the entire gas pedal assembly, which conveniently was in stock at the local warehouse, since hyundai seems to know this is a problem.a major safety issue that deserves a recall!!!
When it gets cold front wipers stop working, when it warms up they start working again. Dangerous when it snows as wipers stop with no warning..
While drivingi turned on the rear windshield wiper and noticed that water was coming inside instead of on the outside which it should have been i was driving
