2009 hyundai accent. Consumer writes in regards to front passenger side airbags. *ld the consumer stated the airbag light was illuminated.
Air bag light came on and won't shut off. Came on in morning just starting the car and has not turned off. Ihave unhooked battery and checked fuses but still on.
My airbag light is on. I had a mechanic shut it off. It was off for a while but came back on. I have seen online where other people have similar issues. I think there needs to be a recall.
When the car is started, the air bag light turns on and won't turn off.restarted several times since and the air bag light still stays on.another issue that i never reported is both driver and passenger sun visors won't stay up.i replaced the driver side, but this is very distracting to a driver to have the visor drop downand feel this should be considered a safety concern.the rest of the information is about the air bag light being on, not the visors.
The contact owned a 2009 hyundai accent. While driving at approximately 70 mph, the contact's vehicle crashed into the preceding vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Airbag light came on when i turned the car on one day. I was informed the airbag pressure sensor had failed and would have to replace the entire seat to rectify the problem as the airbag wouldn't deploy correctly if someone was in the passenger front seat. Recently learned it was a recall for some kia models through a notice for my kia sedona, but my model wasn't included although the issue is identical.
The air bag light came on in car. In order to pass safety inspection this needs tone dealt with at dealership. After diagnostic was run they told me the passenger side detection sensor was faulty. The repair is $1200 and for a car less than 10 years old and under 100,000 miles there is no reason to have this issue. I tried to receive relief reimbursement at the dealership level and at hyundai customer service. Both were denied.
Passenger seat occupancy air bag sensor defect. Srs indicator light on. Dtc code b1 448 occupant classification system mat defect. Entire seat cushion with sensor needs to be replaced. Was no damage or abuse to seat, very low use and mileage. Many reports online of similar situations.
Started out to go to work, when i started the car, i noticed the "airbag" warning light on dash would not go off with the rest of the usual lighting. At the same time i noticed the "passenger" airbag light was "on". I pushed on the cushion of the front seat and the "passenger" dash light now read "off". However, the "airbag" warning light on the instrument cluster remained on. Turned the car back off and after a few minutes, started the car again. Airbag light remained lit and the "passenger" light on dash was reading "off". Disconnecting the battery cable for a few minutes did not solve, clear codes, either. Gls model with 143,800 miles.
The contact owns a 2009 hyundai accent. While driving 45 mph the vehicle slid on ice, crashed into a ditch and rolled over twice. The air bags did not deploy. He was not injured. The weather conditions were wet and the ground was covered with ice. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The insurance company towed the vehicle in order to diagnose the cause of failure. There was no maintenance done to the air bags prior to the crash. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 10,000.
I have taken my pre-owned, certified vehicle into the dealer 3 separate times because the air bag light on the console comes on and will not reset. Each time i have had to pay a diagnostic fee and have the codes reset. The last visit on may 16, 2014 i was told that if it happens again, they will repair and replace the seat sensors. I am now out the diagnostic fee ($89) each time i go in. This is clearly a safety issue as you don't know if it is functioning properly or the air bag will deploy if someone is in the passenger seat.
I have a 2009 hyundai accent my wife weighs a little over 100 pounds when she is a passenger in the car she isn't heavy enough to trigger the passenger side airbag every time. Some times it will work sometimes it won't. We took to the dealer and they said hat everything is working fine.
My son was driving a 2009 hyundai accent and rear ended a stopped vehicle.my son was doing approximately 40 mph and not one airbag is his car deployed.his car was inoperable and was totaled by the insurance company.i went to the hyundai dealer, with pictures, to let them know there was some sort of problem with that car and the manager's response to me was "i wasn't the manager when that car was purchased".i tried explaining that i was there out of concern that if it happens to someone else, there could be some serious injuries but he only cared that "he was not the manager" when i purchased that vehicle.
The car has less than 90,000 miles, yet the air bag light came on.a mechanic diagnosed the error as b1448 ocs.the mechanic said the problem could be the weight sensor in the passenger seat, the wiring harness underneath the seat, or the control module.
Our airbag light went on at the dashboard, and a dealer informed us that the all the sensors on the passenger side airbag had failed.we were told that it would cost almost $1,000 to fix this, and that the parts alone were over $700. We are one 1 month 16 days , and less than 10,000 miles past he 60000 limit for the warranty. I have spoken with hyundai repeatedly to have them pay for the cost of replacing this key safety device, which has failed due to no fault of our own. Hyundai, and the dealer refuse to accept responsibility for an obvious defect in these crucial safety sensors. Hyundai promotes their service and safety, but has a real problem with passenger air bag sensor failure, and the company will not accept responsibility for its own defects.
On the lower portion of the tachometer, there is a warning light: air bags. This light is on continuously, whenever the car is turned on. My daughter reports it has been on for "quite some time".i called the closest hyundai dealership service department, and was told that probably means all of the air bags are disabled. A dangerous situation.further, they could diagnose the situation for one hour of shop time, or $110. That's not repair, only a scope test. I told dealer the car only has used 77k miles on its 100k warranty, and was told since were are not original purchasers, there is no warranty on malfunctioning air bags, or warning light sensors.i told dealer there was a recent alert and recall regarding air bag malfunctions on kia vehicles (a hyundai product) of which this vehicle has the identical engine and interior as the 2009 kia rio, and the dealer said they have heard nothing regarding our vehicle or this specific problem.
The driver side airbag off light came on and stays while the car is on. The passenger side airbag off warning light has been faulty for several years now- it sometimes turns on when there is an adult passenger sitting properly in the passenger seat with a seatbelt on. This is intermittent; however it happens fairly often for the past several years when there is a passenger sitting there. A few days ago, the driver side airbag warning light illuminated. I took it for servicing at hooman hyundai near lax and they told me that the driver side light has to do with the passenger side airbag sensor and this would cost over $1000 to replace.
Airbag light came on and won't go off.took to independent mechanic stated error message b1448 is failure of passenger seat airbag sensor.i was informed that this is a very expensive repair but he thinks there is a recall.i called hyundai- they informed me there is no recall.the vehicle was in an accident and nothing happened that should have caused the sensor to go bad.i am now afraid that the airbags may not deploy as needed in this car
I took my vehicle for virginia safety inspection and it failed due to the air bag warning light stays on, which i thought was normal to let me know it was working, but apparently not. It has been on since i bought the car from carmax. I have researched a little and there seems to quite a few problems with this issue and hyundai. This is the second safety issue, the brake light recall being the first.
Air bag light came on one day. And its on constantly. I called customer service and they dont care. I believe hyundai is the least trustworthy brand for car and should not be sold in us market.
The contact owns a 2009 hyundai accent. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the seat sensor was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that the seat sensor on the driver side failed a few months after. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximated failure mileage was 125,000. The vin was not available. ...updated 02/02/16
In/about 11/13/2014 the air bag warning light activated and stayed it. Dealers option was to charge for obtaining the code and possibly bill as much as $1,400 to replace the seat. Another mechanic reported the code as "b 1448 ocs" [occupant classification system - mat failure]. After several attempts at resetting the system and cleaning the contacts, replaced the seat with a used seat for $200 on 10/22/2015 .....updated 12/03/15 updated 05/21/18
Air bag warning light for passenger seat-ocs---note many other 2009 hyundai accent have been recalled for passenger air bag issues--also 2008/9/10/11/12,etc-why not this one???
Around 75,000 miles, vehicle is 4 years old, airbag sensor went off (no accident or anything).i brought the car to the dealership to have it looked at.came back estimating roughly $1,200 repair to replace the passenger side seat.i told them it is probably just a blown fuse and to check for that, they refused and said they've seen the problem before and that the repair is not covered under any warranty and that it was likely my fault due to a spilled drink.i've never spilled a drink in this car or even left the windows open.therefore, the problem is most likely due to faulty wiring.i refused to pay the $1,200 repair.now i am writing this because i am likely to fail inspection and will be forced to repair it.i want to increase visibility of this issue.
The air bag warning light activated and stayed lit. Hyundai service advised there would be a diagnostic fee merely to test where the problem might be. Repair could cost, according to past experience of the service manager,in the neighborhood of$1,400. It is my understanding that the vehicle will not pass inspection with a lit air bag warning light. I took the vehicle to another mechanic who had access to a scanning computer. The code read: "b1448ocs (occupant classification system) (mat failure)." the warning light was reset.a review of filed complaints discloses several other instances of this occurring:date of incident: 05/16/2014nhtsa id number: 10592409date of incident: 12/12/2013nhtsa id number: 10556375date of incident: 04/29/2013nhtsa id number: 10509961
My daughter, [xxx] , was involved in an automobile accident where she rear ended another car head on going approximately 30 miles an hour' which probably totaled her car and no airbags delpoyed not even the front ones.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The front passenger door power lock quit working.the danger is that the door can't be manually unlocked either from the inside, or with a key on the outside.if the vehicle is involved in a wreck, and the car catches fire, there is no escape for the front passenger.if the car runs into water, there is no escape for the front passenger.if there is any life threatening danger, there is no ability for the passenger to escape from the car.likewise, no one from the outside can get the passenger out. When i took the car to the service dealer, mccarthy olathe hyundai, i was told by their service rep that the lock actuator was defective and had to be replaced. I would be responsible for paying $319.00.the service rep went on to say that he has seen this part fail more with the hyundai santa fe's.if what he says is true, that is frightful.there is no way to know if and when this part will fail, but if it does, it may end up being a life threatening disaster.there is no way i should be responsible for paying for a replacement part that constitutes this much danger to safety.how do i know the replacement part is also not defective?i stated that if the lock actuator on the driver's side door also quit working, the driver would either not be able to escape or would be completely locked out of the car.if locked in, you could die.if locked out, you would not be even able to release the front hood, due to the release lever being inside the car.the service rep informed me that the scenerio of the driver door lock failing would not likely happen.if the passenger's door lock failed, how does he know that the driver's door lock also will not fail?i appreciate your prompt assistance looking into this and getting back with me.a copy of this email has also been forwarded to [email protected] where i have already filed a case number, 9157723.

1st incident: car was parked at store. Would not start and could not move shift lever while depressing the brake. Electrical system down. Called for tow, mechanic jump-started the car. 2nd incident: since the above time, we have had to manipulate the brake pedal several times to release shifter, then firmly move shifter into park, allowing the car to recognize that the car was not in gear, then the car would start.3rd incident: april 24th, 2013. Entered the car, heard clicking sound from the direction of the inside fuse box. Tried to start the car, no power anywhere, car would not start. Depressed the brake to repeat the shifter steps as in incident 2. The clicking stopped. The clicking only stopped when i depressed and held the brakewith the ignition switch in the on position. Still no power and car would not start. As i depressed the brake, the electronic odometer display went to half-numbers. When i tried to turn on the flashers, there was a "static noise" from the dashboard. Flashers would not work. Returned the key to the lock position, depressed the brake pedal. The odometer reading flashed on and off several times, then came back fully. Had to have the car jump-started in order to get home.
The brake lights all failed at the same time. My daughter was following me and noticed they weren't working. I checked the fuse and it is ok, so the next component is the switch. I researched problems with my model and noticed there was a recall for the 2007 model year for the same model car for the stop lamp switch. Maybe the same parts are being used in later model years.
The passenger side door lock stopped working about two months ago. Can not unlock the door manually inside or with a key outside or with remote. Despite the age of the vehicle or warranty, this is without a doubt a serious safety issue, and the, nhtsa, should have already have had ordered a mandatory recall, given hundai motors is aware of this problem and has not acted on its own. Given the, nhtsa's record on recalls ( reactive rather than pro active ) based on the number of deaths required, any mandated recall is highly unlikely...the n in nhtsa, best represents neglect!
2009 hyundai accent. Consumer states problem with vehicle brakes *tgwthe consumer stated the brake pedal would sink to the floor, when it was applied. Also, there was a noise coming from the wheel bearings. The horn needed to be replaced and the check engine light illuminated.

Timing belt tension spring failed causing spring to abrade timing belt until it failed, the timing belt had be replaced 10 months before and only had 12000 miles on it. Auto shop that did the repairs informed me that the spring was not part of the replacement package that was installed 10 months before it failed. When the belt broke a valve disfigured number one cylinder and piston, to be repaired the head was milled, replacement of timing belt and tensioners, causing me 1700 dollars in repairs. This spring should not have failed after only 70000 miles and if it is subject to fail it should be included innormal maintenance.

The car will stall while running then will turn over but not start for a brief period of time. It has done this while sitting at a red light or in motion rounding a corner.
2009 hyundai accent. Consumer states problem with vehicle brakes *tgwthe consumer stated the brake pedal would sink to the floor, when it was applied. Also, there was a noise coming from the wheel bearings. The horn needed to be replaced and the check engine light illuminated.
When braking for a red light, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and engine revved up. Depressed the brake pedal with both feet. Engine kept revving up. Light turned green and driver slowly released the brake pedal and the engine seemed to return to normal. No further problem at this time.

"hyundai motor company (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 accent. Hyundai's recall campaign number is 110."i have a 2009 hyundai accent that has had a brake light switch failure back in april 2013 and now in november 2014.in 2013 hyundai did a supposed fix based on campaign 110 ... The "fix" has failed and again all three brake lights have gone out at once.in 2013 i contacted hyundai corporate and they assisted in getting the issue dealt with.the 'fix," though, has failed and now hyundai is saying my 09 has no known issues or recalls.i spoke with them and received a case number [xxx] and have spoken with a [xxx] and have been given different stories starting with it was only 06 and 07 hyundai accents recalled for brake light switch issues even though cars.com and motortrends.com reported otherwise and when i called back informing them that the nhtsa has 09 accents also listed the story became that it's only certain 09 accents.the issue is now over vin number.what i know it that i have a 2009 hyundai accent that has had not one but two brake light switch failures ... An issue known in these type of cars by them and the federal government ... But hyundai is not recognizing that there is an issue.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I own two hyundai accents, a 2008 and this, a 2009. Now both have had the same problem with the brake light switch becoming inoperative. Fortunately, the lack of brake lights was noticed before any accidents occurred, and the vehicles were taken to the dealer and were repaired at no charge. It seems that the recall for 2006 and 2007 should have been extended to the 2008 and 2009 accent models (plus any others using the same brake light switch).
Break light recall - location mount vernon, ohio - date 12-12-2015i was driving to a christmas event and was pulled over by a state highway patrol officer due to my breaklights being out. I pulled over in the nearest parking lot and had my boyfriend look at it. He said there is a little switch behind the break area that was stuck. He flicked it a few times and it came loose and started working. I am glad the officer let me know before i got into i-71 traffic. I would like to know how to take care of this.
My brake lights work then they dont i have replaced fuses bulbs i dont know what else to check they was working yesterday today i was told my brakes light wasnt working after almost getting rear ended. I was stopping at a red light. This isnt the first time it has happened
I noticed my vehicle's brake light switch was faulty after bringing in my car for an oil change. After coming home and noticing it, i realized that there was a recall on the same exact part for my make model year (hyundai accent 2009). After calling the local dealership, they said that it was not covered underneath the recall. I am skeptical that hyundai made there recall large enough to cover all of the impacted vehicles, thus this post. It looks like other owners are having similar issues as well: http://www.carproblemzoo.com/hyundai/accent/brake-light-switch-problems.php

I have a 2009 hyndai accent. My brake lights are going on and off. After researching online i found that there was a recall for brake light switches. I called my local hyndai dealership and they stated that my vin # was not under the recall. Leading me to believe that they did not make the recall large enough to cover all the cars that are affected by this malfunction. The dealership is now wanting $175.00 to replace this. There was no accident or anything that would have caused this issue in my car.

I have had issues with shifting into gear. I have taken it to several different mechanics and they have not been able to find any issues at all. I also just found out that my fuel level sensor is not working either. I have not been able to find any recalls on either. It's upsetting to see that others are having the same issue with the shifting problem and it doesn't seem that anyone within hyundai has bothered to see if this problem exists with other 5 speed accents.
Car has extremely hard time starting when you put fuel in changed all sensors and purge valve no help mechanic is stumped
A trip turned into twice being stranded on the side of the road with this car. Never been out of the bay area with it. It starts skipping a few beats, loses acceleration. Recovers itself until the next time. Becomes quite intermittent after that point. I got to jacksonville after leaving here. Lost power, tossed white smoke out the tail pipe. Just lugs along and then recovers. So i pulled off the freeway. Into a shopping mall. Turned it off. Started it again? nothing but white smoke out the back end. I called a tow truck. Had it towed into the local hyundai dealership. Where after an hour? they had done some type of emissions clean out? and a transmission flush. Out of pocket? $289. I leave. I decide to come back home instead. I just didn't trust this car the rest of the way to va.. I get to ocala. Merging on to the 75 interchange? two cars and a semi behind me. A semi to the left side had to move over because i punched the gas to merge on? stalled, something went boom under me? and so much white smoke behind me? it engulfed the vehicles behind me. It literally lost power and i had to coast over to the shoulder? then recovered itself. I got it to the rest area a mile up the road. Called a tow truck again. Had it towed to the local hyundai dealership. These people replaced the cat converter and a sensor.the rest of the trip home. At the 60 mile mark again? it starts up again. Spitting and sputtering.losing acceleration.. Trucks behind me. I'm praying by this point. I eventually pulled off at the wesley chapel exit *54* and slowly made it home back to clearwater. Hyundai america is who i called at this point. Took it in yet again to a local hyundai dealership who as usual after 2 days? find absolutely nothing wrong. I get it back? and it sounds worse and runs worse than it ever did now. Sounds like a puttering volkswagon. I am seriously afraid of this car. Seriously!
It started runing bad ipull over smoke comeing from fire wall i put it out /next day i started it and turn it off/ the check engine light is on/ only 54000.00 miles/thank you/runing on the highway

While going 65 mph car shifted into lower gear on its own. Would not shift back. Has done this many times since then. When put in park and turned off, most the time will work right after.

When i tried to turn on the flashers, there was a "static noise" from the dashboard. Flashers would not work. Returned the key to the lock position, depressed the brake pedal. The odometer reading flashed on and off several times, then came back fully. Had to have the car jump-started in order to get home.
My car was parked in my driveway.i went out to pull it into the garage.when i took my foot off of the break to excelerate, the car lunged forward (without me giving it any gas).i returned my foot lightly to the break.the thrust threw me into the steering wheel.i called the tow service and had my car taken to the dealership for repair.during the ride to the dealer the tow driver said that he had to hold his foot on the break in order to control the car and get it on the truck.the dealership kept my car for three days and told me that there was nothing wrong with it.she told me that the diagnostic showed no numbers that would indicate there was anything wrong with the car.she stated that there were some codes that came up but they were erased because they didn't matter, they came up on their own. The diagnostic was done on day one.what was being done on the other two days?this is not the first time that i have had to take this car in for this type of repair.they always tell me that there is nothing wrong with the car, however when i get the car back it drives like new.not so much this time.the breaks are still a little off. Is a dealership allowed to repair your car and not tell you what was wrong?i ask this because of the above and during one of my visits on of the workers told me that "they will do anything to stay #1".
The contact owns a 2009 hyundai accent. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the vehicle became difficult to shift into gear. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but the cause of the failure was not determined. The contact then received notification of a manufacturer's recall that addressed the failure that was experienced. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for the repair but the contact was informed that the recall was only for automatic transmissions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2009 hyundia accent. While driving approximately 35 mph, the transmission slipped out of fourth gear into neutral without intent. The contact was able to continue driving. The failure occurred when driving in the fourth or fifth gear; however to prevent the malfunction the gear selector lever must be manually held while driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on twice and they were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not provide any assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
Seat belt comes un-attached occasionally at the slightest tension. It takes several tries to re-attach to get the "clicker" the engage and hold the connection.

The contact stated they were raising the rear seats and her finger was sliced off.the contact stated the compartment you pull the seats back into place was very sharp. The contact had the tip of the middle finger on her right hand sliced off. The contact stated the failure was a safety issue because the latch was very sharp. The failure and current mileage was 33,000.
My back seats were folded down.before i went to work with the car off and at rest, i went to fold them up, grabbing the small hole that holds the latch that attaches to the back.my right index finger slid across the apparently sharp, uncovered metal edge of this hole.the top couple millimeters of the tip of my finger were sliced off by this metal edge.i had to go to the doctor.i needed a tetanus shot.it was a judgment call whether i needed stitches or not but the doctor gave me sutures.i may lose this part of my finger - we will see.
My brake lights work then they dont i have replaced fuses bulbs i dont know what else to check they was working yesterday today i was told my brakes light wasnt working after almost getting rear ended. I was stopping at a red light. This isnt the first time it has happened
The brakes lines (both front and rear) failed while i was driving. I was traveling down a 4 lane road (speed limit 35mph) when i noticed that my brake pedal went all the way to the floor when i was stopping at a red light. I was able to pull the car over to the side of the road (luckily i was not on the freeway or needed to make a quick stop because i would have definitely crashed into another car). I noticed dripping fluid (brake fluid) coming from the middle of my car. I had my car towed to an auto mechanic's shop where they inspected the brakes and brake lines. Both my front and rear brake lines were corroded and rotten out and needed to be replaced. The mechanic noted that the brake lines rotted away where there was no coating. My car is only 6 years old and under 100,000 miles and a part like that should not have failed me.it is a safety issue to not coat the entire brake line.

There was a previous recall on this vehicle for faulty brake light switches. I took my car in for inspection and it was found that i had a faulty brake light switch. Hyundai claims that my vin was not affected although there was a recall for the same year, make and model of my car for the brake light switch.nhtsa campaign number: 13v113000

The contact indicated that the failure eventually occurred on all four spark plug wire harnesses. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 55,000.
I was interested in this car but before purchasing i took it to firestone for a pre-purchase inspection.one of the repairs needed was a cv axle.it was popping when you make turns and visibly leaking grease.the dealership refused to make any repairs without drastically increasing the price.essentially, they would make more money selling this unsafe vehicle to an unsuspecting buyer.if a cv axle fails when a person is driving, it would mean complete loss of the vehicle and therefore obvious consequences.i understand a used car needing maintenance, however this is complete negligence that could result is someone losing their life.please investigate earnestly, i'm guessing this isn't the first nor the last time this will happen at this dealership.you can see which dealership i'm referring to by looking at the ownership record and the date of incident, or by contacting me directly.

Have had vehicle several times to dealer ship since we bought used vehicle for sway bars coming loose this seems to be a issue that they just cant get resolved . The last time i was driving vehicle out of no where it started making the thumping noise it startled me i was pulling over to check my steering i was almost rear ended pulling off highway. Reading some internet sites this seems to be a problem with this vehicle.

I've had nothing but trouble since i purchased this vehicle.i bought this car in oct. 2014 and it had over 89,000 miles on it.two months after receiving this vehicle, i took it to midas to have the oil changed. The mechanic informed me that there was some type of corrosion coming from the oil chamber.he flushed it out and changed the oil.after driving the car for two more months, i noticed some hesitation while excellerating.i had a mechanic look at the car and he told me i needed to change my spark plugs and wires, which i did.approximately two weeks later, the car started hesitating again.this time it would not go any faster than five mph.i had to have this car towed home.this vehiclewas financed for $10,023 and i'm on a fixed income.i had already made car payments totalling over $3000. I was informed that this car has internal engine damage.diagnosis: 2 bad cylinders and a melted catalytic converter.price to repair: $2058.for the second time, i had to have this car towed to my home, and it has been sitting there ever since.i'm contemplating whether i should invest any more money in this car because i'm afraid that i'm going to continue having problems.besides i don't have $2058 for another engine and converter.i received written notification this november that this particular vehicle per my vin number is on the recall list.i have no way to take it in because it doesn't run.this has got to be the worse investment i've ever made in my life.i've notified the attorney general's office and the better business bureau of my experience with this car.i believe these cars should be taken off of the road due to the many hazards they pose.i will never buy another korean vehicle.for now on, i will only purchase american made cars if onlyfor safety reasons.can i get a refund on this piece of junk?
When the car is started, the air bag light turns on and won't turn off.restarted several times since and the air bag light still stays on.another issue that i never reported is both driver and passenger sun visors won't stay up.i replaced the driver side, but this is very distracting to a driver to have the visor drop downand feel this should be considered a safety concern.the rest of the information is about the air bag light being on, not the visors.
Nothing happened but there is a recall on my car.
During or after operation of the air conditioning, water pours down into the footwell on the passenger side. This happens regardless of any other parameters.
My car misfired and after that started to sputtering when i idol, slow down or speed up. I got new plugs put in and put some dry gas in tank.still sputters when in idle or slowing down. Check engine light blinks and then stays on.
The contact owns a 2009 hyundai accent. The contact stated that while driving approximately 2 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward crashing into a concrete barrier. The contact was not injured in the crash. A police report was filed.the vehicle was then towed to a dealer and transferred over to the insurance company who deemed the vehicle as destroyed. Seriously!

Driver side sun visor fell and will not stay up. I've done some research and found that the hyundai sonata had a recall for the same problem.
Drivers side visor fell down to block view of road. Will not stay up any more. Had to use velcro to hold up but gives way on hot days.
Driver's side visor broke and dropped down blocking vision while driving.
Drivers side sunscreen visor broke at the connection to the prop rod causing the sunscreen to swing down unsupported. Replaced this with another visor and the same thing happened again.
The sun visor will not stay up. There is a plastic part inside that holds it in place and that apparently broke. The sun visor is not usable and just hangs down obscuring my field of view. This is a huge danger since i can't see more than 50 feet ahead of my car now and will not have time to slow down for an accident.
While driving, i pulled down the sun visor to shield my vision from the sun. I heard a strange cracking noise and the sun visor became very floppy. It will no longer stay in the up position, and this posed a visibility problem, and so i was forced to remove the sun visor. Now i have no way to shield my eyes from the sun, which also poses a visibility problem.
The contact owns a 2009 hyundai accent. While the contact's husband was driving, the sun visor dropped down and failed to stay in position. The failure interfered with his vision. The driver's side sun visor just fell as i was driving... The left side of the visor where it attached up into the roof of the car has a tube with the wire in it for the light - the light no longer works, and the tube dropped down - i can push it up in there, but falls again... Fell down suddenly as i was driving and hit me in the face... Had to react fast to avoid not seeing and getting in accident...
The contact owns a 2009 hyundai accent. The contact was driving approximately 10 mph during the night and attempted to merge into a lane when suddenly, another vehicle crashed into the front driver's side door. There were no injuries. A police report was filed of the incident. The contact was able to drive the vehicle from the scene of the crash. The failure was contributed to the rear window edges that were designed with darkened material, causing a blind spot. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 14,200.
The drivers side sun visor will not stay in place anymore and just hangs down, which hinders visibility and gets annoying.
I was done shopping andstarting the car, the sun was in my eyes so i pulled the sun visor down and i heard a grating noise and the visor popped out of the ceiling and hung by the wires, it appears the plastic piece it screws into snapped in half, i had to hold the visor with 1 hand as it was in my line of vision as i drove home.when researching for a new one i found this was a common issue with these cars and some even happened while the car was in motion, very dangerous, this is a problem and needs to be corrected.
Car has 29000 miles. Last week, the drivers side sun visor started "not staying up".it falls in to the drivers line of sight while the car is moving.it is avisibility/ safety issue.thank you..
I was putting the sun visor back up in place and the arm by the door snapped. It hung in my way the rest of the drive.i had to hold it out of the way most of the time to see.it obstructs my visibility tremendously!!!it is very distracting!!!!please do something about this.
Driving down the highway at approximately 50 mph, there was a very small bump in the road which caused the sunvisor to fall and totally block my vision. Now it will not stay up. Upon investigation, this is a very common problem on many hyundai's. They recalled some models, but most they did not. This is a known problem because the replacement part has been completely redesigned.
While traveling approximately 50 miles per hour on six lane divided highway, i attempted to park the sun visor in the full up (out of the way) position. It made a strange noise and fell all the way down in front of my face. Fortunately, i was able to react quickly and hold the visor up out of the way, thereby precluding any accident. This did occur during the heavy traffic of rush hour, and i have no doubt that this could have easily caused a potentially disastrous accident. My family also owns another, 2008 hyundai accent, which my son drives. The same issue also occurred while he was driving his just within the past few months. I have found many instances of both driver's side and passenger side visors breaking in the same way, obstructing the vision of the driver immediately (even if the passenger side visor breaks/falls). This is a serious safety issue.
Sun visor started dropping into driver's view on it's own in 2012. Driver was able to prop it back up until it the plastic clamp that keeps it tight on rotating arm broke. It became a visibility problem while driving, so visor had to be removed. We contacted hyundai who told us it was not under warranty and we would have to pay $150 to have it replaced.
"hyundai recall"a couple years ago i was driving on the highway and my driver side sun visor fell down and blocked my view of driving. It was an uncomfortable situation because i had to hold up the visor while i was driving the rest of the way home, thankfully it was not a much more dangerous situation. Eventually when i got home, i tried to fix it myself, and it held up for a while, but eventually fell off again, so i ended up having to rip it off altogether since it was such an impairment whilst driving. A few months later the same thing happened to the left side visor and luckily i was at my grandpas house and he figured out how to take the visor off without ripping it off, so the wiring clips are still intact. Now that i am more knowledgeable about cars i was just going to buy new visors and try to fix the problem myself, but they are out of my price range, and frankly this is definitely a safety issue that hyundai should pay to fix. After doing some looking online, i discovered that there are many other dissatisfied hyundai customers that have had the same safety issue with the sun visor. All i want is for hyundai to fix the problem at their expense.
2009 hyundai accent driver side sun visor just wont stay in up position.my car has very few miles for being a 2009 model for this to happen.i am a male and never use the sun visor for the mirror or the sun because i always were sun glasses. My visor falls now and impedes my driving. This should be a safety recall because if this were to happen while i was driving, it could have cause an accident. I have found many similar complaints online as i researched this problem for a possible recall from hyundai.
