Airbag light came on and stays on. Was informed by multiple mechanics in the area that is a known safety and system malfunction issue with the 2008 hyundai accent hatchback models and not sure way a recall has not been issued.

My 30,000 mile hyundai has a faulty airbag sensor. My warranty was about to go up and i had it fixed. The airbag light is always on because of a seat sensor that doesn't work properly. Basically a week after my warranty went up and two weeks after the dealership fixed the problem, my light went back on. Needless to say it is very concerning having your airbag light on. I have no idea if they'll work so i don't use the interstate. I think it is ridiculous something like an airbag is something i am worrying about on a 5 year old car. I have heard horror stories of the airbags randomly going off or not going off at all in similar hyundai's. It is a problem that needs to be fixed. It's a joke that i have to worry about my airbag system in 2013.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,987.

About a year ago the air bag light came on for few days for no reason, then it came off. Now the air bag is back on for good, it started up again since july and is still on. We have not been in an accident for it to cause for the air bag light to come back on. I called to see if i can get it repair, the gentleman said it will cost more about $1,000 or more to check it and get it repair. I do not want to pay that much, but my son's safety is my concern. I feel like all the sudden everything with this car is falling apart. Sun visor and now airbag...

Daughter was in an accident, totaled the front end of the car and the airbags never deployed.am hiring an attorney.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. The contact stated that the air bag light remained illuminated in the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 94,000. Updated 04/14/16*ljthe passenger lower seat assembly and ocs mat were replaced on march 7, 2016. Updated 05/17/16.

I was driving down a busier street in town at about 35-40 miles an hour, with family in the car, when a lady in an suv pulled out in front of me. The front of my vehicle crushed into her driver's tire area. My car was totaled and none of the airbags deployed. Thank goodness everyone had their seatbelts on, and everyone walked away from the accident.

Srs, airbag light stays on, passenger airbag light lights up off.

At approximately 67,000. Mi the airbag light came on, had an auto parts store scan the code and said it was passenger seat sensor, at the time i used the car for commuting to work and never had passengers. Now retired and cannot have a passenger for fear that being involved in an accident could be deadly for the occupant of that seat, went to the dealer and was told its not covered under warranty, ( i'm second owner ) and the seat alone would cost at least $900. Plus installation would be about $1200. Or more on a fixed income and cannot afford that, cannot sell the car it lowers the resale, and who would want it. Guess i'm stuck

The passenger air bag dash indicator was lit indicating that the air bag was off when my wife (170 lbs) was seated & buckled in. I was also able to duplicate this condition (238 lbs). The dealer planet hyundai in golden co could not detect a problem. My wife & i later duplicated the problem which was witnessed by a service associate [xxx]. The service manager [xxx] called & said that he had spoken to the hyundai engineering department and they told him that the seat sensor is placed in the middle of the seat cushion & that putting weight on the seat side bolsters would not activate the sensor. [xxx] suggested that i put a cushion on the middle of the seat to have the sensor be more responsive. He refused to replace any parts because he stated that hyundai believes that the sensor is performing "as designed". This is clearly a significant safety issue & the resolution is inadequate.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

About 3 months ago the seat belt light came on and has been on ever since.we took our car to our hyundai dealer and they said that we needed a new airbag installed and it would could around $1000 for the part.they ordered itand we have to scedule an appointment to put it on.we are on a fixed income and $1000 or more is a whole lot of money that we don't have.we were wondering if there is or could possibly be a recall for this airbag problem.looking on line at the complaints concerning this airbag problem with the 2008 hyundai accent we were wondering why you have not resolved this complaint with a recall.thanks for you time.

The airbag lights comes on an stays on you have to get it scan sn the codewill read b1448, b1449, or b1450 an it should be a recall for this .because only a dealer can get it off an then they want to chsrge you 1345.95 just to get it fix thats highway robbery .well the going to reject you an you can get a inspection sticker either.

Passenger air big light says it is off.

At end of may 2016, my airbag light went on and stayed on.i took my2008 accent to the dealer on 6/2/16 and was told that the ocs mat may need to be replaced at a cost of $1400 to $1600.if i do not replace it, the airbags will not deploy in an accident because the airbag sensor system is disabled.this 2008 accent should be recalled because this is a serious safety issue.

Air bag light stays on.no reason has been identified.concerned for all accent drivers, as this problem has been reported by many people in many places online and in the real world.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. The contact stated that while traveling 45 mph the vehicle crashed in to the passenger side of another vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. The driver and front passenger sustained back injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was unknown.

Red airbag light on the dashboard is on. I had the hyundai dealership diagnose the problem, they told me that theair bag sensor pad in the front passenger seat went bad. They said the seat base would have to be replaced and that it would be $822.82 for parts + 1.5 hours labor for a total of: $985.00. It seems very odd that the passenger seat airbag sensor would go bad in my car because i hardly ever have a passenger.

The passenger occupant sensor in the lower seat cushion failed causing the airbag light to stay on. The dealership scanned the computer and received code b1448. Passenger airbags would not inflate if there was an accident. Needed to replace the sensor to pass inspection.

Takata recall: air bag light stays on and car cannot be inspected.also check engine light stays on.removed passenger and driver seats to check sensors/wires but did not solve the problem

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. While stopped at a light, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle causing him to crash into the vehicle positioned in front also waiting for the light. The contact sustained lower backinjuries. The contact stated the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 23,000.

The srs airbag error light came up, the code reads b1448 which is the malfunction of the occupancy sensor in the passenger seat. The vehicle is out of warranty. Without the occupancy sensor working correctly, the passenger airbag will not deploy in a collision! this accent model should have recall on this issue.

I purchased a car in colorado spring in 2008(my state of record) and currently i live in germany working for the us army. My airbag drivers seat sensor doesn't function properly, because the sensor shows red and the car wasn't even five years old when the system malfunctions. I contacted the hyundai dealership in amberg, bayern, germany and scheduled an appointment. They tested the airbag system which i already knew it, but they were not able to pin point the location of airbag sensor that was showing error on driver's side. The problem is they cannot even locate the part of the system on hyundai factory catalog with the computer data base. The hyundai specification for the us or european car airbag system shouldn't be different under consumer protection law. The company is concerns about the transmission & pollution and provides warranty; but seat belts or airbag system it's not even included in the manual.

I got into a collision in las vegas, nevada. I was driving my 2008 hyundai accent, i got hit head on and none of the airbags deployed. I was turning and going approximately 5 mph the person who hit me was going 35 to 40 mph. The speed limit on that particular street is 45 mph. My car is a total loss and luckily no one got hurt.

Noticed my airbag light on not sure why i have not been in accident nor run into anything. Only one of my breaklights (passenger side) out. Recently had stop light replaced.

Air bag light stays on, plus passenger airbag light says off sometimes even when someone is in the passenger seat.took in to dealer who says the passenger side sensor (ocs ) needs to be replaced charging approx $1000 for the part. There are many complaints on hyundais faulty ocs , yet only the sonata has been recalled.

Heading west bound on i 10 in alabama. Car was going between 60-70mph.avoided the accident by sliding into another lane, breaks did not catch. Upon fish tailing back into traffic hit another vehicle head on and airbags did not deploy on impact until car was no longer in motion. The front driver airbag and the passenger front airbag did not deploy. Was standing on the breaks trying to get the car to stop and the car never stopped. It took the median cables to stop the vehicle. When the car had come to a stop is when the side curtain and seat airbag on passenger side deployed. Damage was sustained heavily to driver side front as well and still no side airbags, seat, or frontal airbags deployed. E-break did not even catch.

The airbag light came on and would not turn off. The car was still under warranty, so hyundai fixed the problem. Now, just 4 months later ( no longer under warranty) the light is back on. Other makes and years of hyundai have the same problem. The 2008 accent should also have airbag recall. This is the 3rd time for the same problem.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. The contact stated that the front passenger side air bag warning light flickered when the seat was being occupied. In addition, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the air bag sensor in the passenger seat failed and the front passenger seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000.

The srs warning light came on, so we took the car to the dealership. They told us it would be $900 to repair the occupancy sensor on the passenger seat, since the vehicle is no longer under warranty. Without the repair, the passenger airbag will not deploy in the event of a collision. This must be due to a faulty part or poor installation, since our vehicle has not seen any recent accidents or unusual use.

Takata recall.air bag light on all the time.

08 accent gs, airbag light on without any accident or unusual driving.its a safety issue.hyundai should have recalled this issue since many customers have the same problem.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. The vehicle was travelling at approximately 40 mph when the front of the vehicle crashed into the corner of another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy and there was no prior warning of potential air bag failure. There were 2 people injured. A police report was filed.the vehicle had to be towed from the scene of the accident. The current and failure mileages were approximately 21,000.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. The contact stated that the passenger air bag would not engage when the passenger seat was occupied while driving 5 mph and up. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the passenger seat cushing was replaced but to no avail. In addition, the failure was also occurring with the driver side air bag. The dealer replaced the driver side seat belt buckle but was unable to locate a failure within the passenger air bag. The dealer test drove the vehicle with the passenger seat occupied. The passenger air bag on light was illuminated therefore, the dealer advised the contact that they were unable to make repairs to the passenger air bag. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 22,000 and the current mileage was 22,730.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. While the vehicle was undergoing maintenance by an independent mechanic, the technician noticed that the air bag indicator was illuminated. The dealer stated that the sensor mat was faulty and replaced the front passenger seat, but the repair did not remedy the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Power control for the passenger window very erratic.when lowered, the control will not raise the passenger side window until the switch has cooled off.problem recently worked on at local hyundai dealership; however, fix did not last for 24 hours.switch will not respond from either the driver's control or the passenger side.also have the problem with the sun visor that so many others have submitted complaint about.the visor on the driver's side literally fell in my face while i was driving.currently i have the visor taped up; but, it will still fall down both startling the driver and obstructing the view.this is a safety hazard.the piece is broken and the estimate to repair is ridiculous.i purchased the additional warranty so eventually the window switch problem will be resolved; but, the dealership is telling me i will have to pay for the visor.with the number of complaints over this issue, hyundai needs to issue a recall and replace the sun visors.

Had a recall on brake light switch, (campaign 110) took it to hyundai dealer nassief in jefferson, switch supposedly replaced.notified them that problem was recurring which was turn signal light would light on dash when pedal was depressed, and it progressed to external right rear turn signal wouldlight when braking, or dash lites would lite, then blower motor would work intermittently and finally the right external turn light would light when braking..sometimes it was one condition, and others a variable of many or all conditions..which did not exist until the brake lite switch was replaced by nassief hyundai.

This may not be the correct place to report this so please let me know where i should report this reimbursement problem.i received a recall notice for the brake lamp switch that i needed to replace pre-notification. Since that time i have been getting the runaround by hyundai's consumer affairs department. When coming to this sit to review the recall i see that they are violating the pre-notification reimbursement portion of the recall agreement. Basically saying they will not pay until the repair complies to there standard. I have already gone to a hyundai service center and there comment was that they could not determine if the new switch complies since the new switch and the old switch look the same. Hyundai consumer affairs was unwilling to provide me with any information on what hyundai service need to show the repair complies. They have also required extensive documentation that is not listed in the recall agreement. I have extensive email documentation showing there unwillingness to pay and my increasing level of frustration. Again i don't know if this is the correct place to file this complaint so please reply with information on where to file the complaint. I also thought your agency may want to know when a auto maker decides not to follow a recall agreement.

2008 accent, i bought in february has ground hog problems.two weeks ago, i saw a ground hog go under my car and several times after.about ten days ago, the transmission would stay in 1st gear and would not shift (when starting). When it finally did shift,at about 4 k rpm, the transmissionwould remain in the higher gears. Trying to start from a dead stop is quite slow. The check engine light also came on.i took the car into the dealers. The repair man said that 3 of the cables were chewed. One for the trans., one for the brake level indicator, and one for the speedometer. The damage was not covered by hyundai's warranty. They replaced the wires at $402.00. It's eight days later. I've lost the speedometer cable. For some reason these wires attract ground hog. None of the other people in the area. In the 19 years i have lived here, none of the other 5 cars i owed had this problem. In fact one was a 2003 accent. The dealer said they can not do anything to fix this problem.i put down moth balls and fox scent to ward the hogs off, but they like this wires. Loosing the trans. And speedometer can make driving little dangerous. This there any way to make hyundai replace this wires or hid them so pests won't eat themthank you, e allan stone

I reported that the dash of my car felt hot all of the time and that i could not get one of the warning lights to go out.i sent the car to the dealership for repair under my bumper to bumper warranty and they would not honor my request.all of this was before this massive recall.the first day that i drove this car i took it back to the dealership because the same warning light would not go out; they would not help me.this was a dangerous car and i have lost a lot of money behind it and the company not honoring their contract.

When i got the car from the car lot the told sumbit recall that theu did not have time to do with a lamp switch

The manufacturer was not notified. There were no injuries, but medical attention was required for emotional distress. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The damage occurred at the engine and the passenger side of the vehicle near the electrical components. The approximate failure mileage was 116,500.

Takata recall: air bag light stays on and car cannot be inspected.also check engine light stays on.removed passenger and driver seats to check sensors/wires but did not solve the problem

On november 14, 2014, after coming to a stop, the engine shut off almost immediately, requiring me to put the vehicle into park or neutral to restart it.this has happened 19 times since. My concern is that this may happen while i am in motion and that if it did it might cause another vehicle to crash into mine. I have brought the vehicle into our local hyundai dealer where it was purchased used in july 2014 to have this problem fixed. The engine came to a stop while it was on their lift being checked out. However, the computer did not provide any code to enable them to fix it. They suggested putting 2 bottles of dry gas in the tank but this did not fix the problem. I have alerted them that this continues to be a problem several times, but they don't know what to do about it since the computer finds nothing wrong. The local dealership also consulted hyundai technical service team and they were unable to give them any solutions. I reported this problem to hyundai corporate customer service on april 10, 2015. I asked about the 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty and they told me that since the mileage is over 60,000 there is not much they can do for me. They said that they would try to look into this and notify my local dealership about it. The customer service case manager ([xxx]) asked me what i would like out of this situation. I told him i wanted to get it fixed as it is a potential safety concern as well as a constant worry every time i am coming to a stop.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My 2008 hyundai accent gs was having trouble starting so i took it to the shop where they told me itwas a fuel pump. I had it replace. The car worked fine for about a week until i went to put gas in it. I've gotten stuck at the gas station 3 times after i have put gas in my tank. It seems that everytime i put gas in itdoes not want to start. It is not under warranty and two different mechanics can't figure out what's wrong with it. I've seen online that hundreds of hyundai vehicle owners are having this problem. And i feel that hyundai needs to recall this car. It's horrible. I've had countless issues with it since i've bought it. And i purchased it brand new from the dealer. Please help!

My 2008 hyundai accent is brand new with 2,000 miles on it and its been in shop 3 times with engine misfires...codes po300 and po301...car is losing power going down highway and a horrible sound when i start it..they claim they fixed it but here it is a week later and car has to go back again....its under warranty.....cant this cause an accident if im going 65 on a highway and it loses power and car jumps down to about 45 and i have gas pedal to floor and it takes a few minutes for car to accelerate again...they just reset computer and few days later...same problem.

I own a 2008 hyundai accent, and it has about 30,000 miles on it.i've had it in the shop twice this month the first time for the coils and the second for a miss fire.this is getting to be ridiculous,i just got it out the shop 2 days ago and now the steering is off, really bad.it was so bad i could barely keep it on the road.now i'll be taking this car back to the dealership again for the third time in one month.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. The contact stated that the check engine light remained illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to the dealer over nine times for the failure. The dealer stated each time it was a different default code whenever it was being repaired. The contact has been unable to speak with anyone at the hyundai manufacturer. The failure started immediately after the vehicle had regular maintenance service performed. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 23,000.

I rented an hyundai accent for one day, and occasionally when i brake to stop for traffic or for a red light the car engine would surge and you had to press hard on the brake to keep it from moving.the engine would surge to 2,000 rpms while in drive, and when i shifted it to neutral once it surged to 5,000 or 6,000 rpms.i reported it to the rental company when i returned it, but thought that i should also report it here.i do not know the year of the car, but it had 15,000 miles on it, so i would guess that it was a 2008.if you did need to confirm the year of the car, it had massachusetts plates with the license number 2jn280.i was strong enough to keep the car from moving anytime it surged, but perhaps a smaller person or an older person would not be able to keep the car from moving.several years ago i rented a car of a model i do not recall and the surge was so strong that i could not keep the car from moving, but this was not as bad.

While driving down the highway my driver side mirror started to vibrate and then disconnected from my car.luckily the power mirror cord stopped the unit from falling on the highway and i was able to pull off the highway and secure the mirror.the auto is a 2008 hyundai accent with only 10,500 miles on it.the mirror looked like it had defective internal parts.i took the car to a local hyundai dealership and the service manager inspected the mirror and could find no reason for the malfunction other than the interior parts simply broke.he inspected the mirror for a long time and could find no external damage and didn't believe the unit was mishandled.he told me he would order me a new part and file a report so that the repairs would be covered under my warranty.hyundai has denied my warranty claim even after the service manager found no wrong doing on my part.hyundai has denied my warranty claim without looking at the mirror or listening to the service manager.

Passenger sun visor come out. Put it back in through the hole but did not stay. Few months later, driver side sun visor came out as well.

Passenger side sun visor broke, will not stay up, a few months later the same thing happened to the drivers side.as many complaints that there are out there it amazes me that this is not a recall, when the visor is completely down it blocks vision, when on the side, same thing.i've replaced with the same oem visors, (only ones available) and they broke as well.seems like a safety hazard over a couple dollar part to improve the visor??

I own two hyundai accents, a 2009 and this, a 2008. Now both have had the same problem with the brake light switch becoming inoperative. Fortunately, the lack of brake lights was noticed before any accidents occurred, and the vehicles were taken to the dealer and were repaired at no charge. It seems that the recall for 2006 and 2007 should have been extended to the 2008 and 2009 accent models (plus any others using the same brake light switch).

2008 hyundai accent.consumer writes in regards to vehicle brake light switch recall notice.the consumer stated after waiting for an hour at the dealer, to have the recall performed, the dealer informed him, the recall work had been completed. However due to an issue separate from the recall, the brake lights still did not work.the dealer wanted $99 to diagnose the problem, and if it was simply the light bulbs were burned out there would be an additional 4140 for the light bulbs. The consumer and the service advisor went out to the vehicle, and when the advisor stepped on the brake pedal, the brake lights illuminated.

Issues is related to the text below. Same incident occurs in some 2008 hyundai accent models.recall summaryhyundai is recalling 532,633 my 2006-2007 accent, entourage, sonata, my 2007 azera, elantra and santa fe, my 2005-2007 tucson and my 2007-2008 veracruz vehicles. The stop lamp switch in the affected vehicles may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause the brake lights to remain illuminated when the brake pedal is released. A stop lamp switch malfunction may also affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature so the transmission shifter would not be able to be shifted out of the park position. It may also cause the electronic stability control (esc) malfunction light to illuminate, and it may not deactivate the cruise control when the brake pedal is depressed. Consequenceany of these malfunctions, alone or in combination, may lead to a crash. Remedydealers will replace the stop lamp switch free of charge. The recall began on june 29, 2009. Owners may contact the hyundai customer assistance center at 1-800-633-5151. Noteshyundai motor company 092.

Noticed my airbag light on not sure why i have not been in accident nor run into anything. Only one of my breaklights (passenger side) out. Recently had stop light replaced.

When i got the car from the car lot the told sumbit recall that theu did not have time to do with a lamp switch

Brake light switch failed.part replaced.old part available.

The brake lights on my 2008 hyundai accent are not working.i changed the bulbs and checked the fuse - all are ok.i suspected the pedal switch that activates the brake lights might be the problem.went online to see if i could find any other owners with the same issue, and discovered that a recall has been commenced by hyundai for the very problem i am experiencing.however, the 2008 hyundai accent was not listed in the press release that i reviewed as one of the affected models.the problem may be bigger than they think.i felt that i should advise nhtsa that the accent model may also be one of those affected.i contacted a local dealer and they did not have it in stock, but said they would get the brake pedal switch for me.in the meantime, my car is really not safe to drive without brake lights (day or night).please get hyundai working on this quickly, before someone gets killed, and consider whether the design problem might be affecting more models than have been identified to date.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle ran out of fuel and stalled. The contact indicated that there was no fuel in the fuel tank even though the vehicle was refueled prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to goshen motors (3220 elcott rd, goshen, in) where it was diagnosed that the fuel system was faulty. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 121,000.

On september 13, 2013, while sitting in the driver's seat, i tried to unlock the front passenger seat door lock by pressing the unlock button to allow my passenger to get into the car. All car door locks opened except the right front passenger.so i pressed the button again and all the doors locked.waited and hit the unlock button and all the doors unlocked except for the right front passenger door.i turned off the engine in the car and went around to the right front passenger door and inserted the key directly in the door lock.it still would not open until i inserted the key and pulled the door handle at the same time.so very reluctantly my passenger got into the front seat.he tried to unlock the door once inside by using the handle and was unsuccessful.this is definitely a safety issue.the next day i called the dealer where i had purchased this vehicle to set up an appointment to analyze the problem.i took the vehicle into the dealership on september 16, 2013 and was very disappointed with what i learned.the door lock actuator was bad and a special part would have to be ordered.the total cost of repair for this defective part would cost me $346.13 + tax.the service manager did offer me a 10% discount. At that time i declined the repair because of the cost. I am very nervous now about even driving the car because i worry that the driver's side lock actuator may one day trap me in the vehicle as well.my car is no longer under warranty. Because of the nature of this safety defect, i don't feel that it is my responsibility to bear the full cost of repair. So i'm bringing this to your attention.

I had the car checked by the factory rep, and service mgr. At crestmont hyundai via a road test. I described the vibration problems with the tires and they both agreed to "load " balance the tires, which took away most of the tire problems. The second problem is with the shifting of the transmission ( automatic) when cold or hot. When cold going from reverse to drive the car has a " dead" zone before it will engage into drive. These few seconds that i wait for it to engage has caused problems in traffic, which i feel will result in a accident. When it does engage it shifts very abruptly or basically "lunging " into drive. The factory rep. Even said the nature of the car shifting the way it does is normal. Upon exiting the h/way if the car does not have sufficient time to send the signal from the computer to the transmission, it searches for the signal or abruptly shifts into drive or hangs in a semi neutral "zone" before engaging. If this is a normal operation of this car, someone is going to be hurt or killed as a result of it. Please help before i take a hit on trading away this car for a honda or toyota. I was assured when i was purchasing this car that the difference between a automatic and manual trans. That the gas mileage was negligent. I now know that the finance mgr. Was definitely wrong and i was a fool for not doing my "homework" . The gas mileage is actually worse than my 1991 honda civic hatchback, that has almost 180,000 miles on it. Go figure that one out!!!!

This vehicle has excessive rust underbody, and the fuel tank straps are rusted along with just about the whole frame. The brakes are now squealing and rubbing after an alleged underbody rust treatment, which sprayed over the old rust! hyundai has offered a "wax treatment" which is basically waxing my rust. The fuel straps seem to me to be a safety issue of great importance, as well as the brakes. The driver's side seatbelt does not always fasten and i was told that there's nothing wrong with it. Hyundai refuses to address the safety issues, stating the car is out of warranty, yet they admit the original frame coating was too thin.

The passenger occupant sensor in the lower seat cushion failed causing the airbag light to stay on. The dealership scanned the computer and received code b1448. Passenger airbags would not inflate if there was an accident. Needed to replace the sensor to pass inspection.

During morning traffic my hyundai 2002 accent gs was hit from the rear.the collision caused my seat to collapse.the seat collapsing caused my body to travel towards the rear of the car.i struck another vehicle with the front of my car which caused my body to go forward.i notified hyundai about the incident in writing and there response was that the seat was designed to absorb the impact and that they had no other comment on the matter.this was not a matter of absorbing an impact.the seat completely collapsed.i have all the information and responses in writing.i have also done research and found that i am not the only person that has had a seat collapse in a rearend collision.hyundai should address this issue so that others can avoid the injuries that result from not being adequately restrained when the seat collapses.

In november 2016 the exhaust pipe from the front axle to the muffler fell off due to brackets rusting. A couple weeks later a recall notice was received from hyundai about rusting to the chassis and suspension. Repair work was done at the time of the incident. Hyundai sprayed the underside for rust-proofing, then denied a reimbursement claim on the exhaust system. In april 2017 the rocker arms and rotors had rusted, and required full braking system and rocker arm replacement. In june 2017 the entire suspension system required replacement, due to rusting of the shocks and struts. An attempt to file a second claim for reimbursement cannot be processed through hyundai's website, citing the vin number and last name matching the original request that was denied without explanation.

The brake light switch failed, causing the 2008 hyundai accent to have no brake lights.i was informed of this by another driver who told me that my brake lights were not functioning.while trying to find a safe place to pull over, i was nearly rear-ended by two other vehicles due to my vehicle not having functional brake lights.i had to have the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership where they diagnosed and repaired the problem.as the vehicle was no longer under warranty, i was made responsible for the towing and repair costs.

Noticed my airbag light on not sure why i have not been in accident nor run into anything. Only one of my breaklights (passenger side) out. Recently had stop light replaced.

The brake lights on the rear of the vehicle do not light up when the brake pedal is depressed. The brakes are functional though. This is a life-safety issue as the trailing vehicle may not know that i am applying the brakes.

2008 hyundai accent brake lights do not fuction when brake pedal is depressed.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent gl. While driving 65 mph the entire front end was shaking excessively. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the rack and pinion steering shaft, two front rims, tires and a power steering pump. After the vehicle was repaired the front end continued to shake. The manufacturer was contacted and informed him to take the vehicle back to the dealer to be repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 43,000.

Cpsc:a few weeks prior to receiving the notice, the exhaust pipe (from the front axle to the muffler) fell off the vehicle while driving. The consumer stated the vehicle was repaired after receiving the recall notice, but the reimbursement claim was denied without explanation. Also, the front rocker arms required a replacement due to rusting, in addition to the rotors and breaking system. The entire suspension system needed to be replaced due to rusting. The consumer stated the servicecompleted by the dealer was either sprayed for rust proofing or, was ineffective. Updated 08/31/2017

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.the consumer stated the visors were due to be repaired. The spoiler(ft bumper) totally ripped off my vehicle while driving 70 mph on the highway. I ran over it and then retrieved it. The rivets came right out of vehicle. The tires did not fail but the next day the warning light came on. I contacted hyundai dealership they stated they wanted me to file an accident report. But i didn't have an accident the equipment is faulty the method in which its attached to the main frame. Aluminum rivets and glue. The vibration of the road and the airflow coming up underneath made the spoiler rip off. I didn't have anything to do with it coming off. Very dangerous and safety issues if the tires busted the car would have flipped many times and i would have been seriously injured or dead.updated ivoq 09/10/09.

Passenger side sun visor has a metal component inside and it snapped and the sun visor now drops down is blocking the field of view of the driver and will not stay up.

Sun visorsare broken ,, one won,t stay up an light won,t work,, one falls out of mount,, went to pick-a-part, all of the hyundai's in there already had their sun visors removed ,, not safe with them falling down an out

Driving on interstate highway and passenger side sun visor released and dropped down ... Will not stay in up position any longer.

The driver side sun visor broke from the bracket i.e. The plastic bracket is broke. The visor is just hanging down. I had to use the valcro to hold it in place.

As i was driving my 66k mile 2008 hyundai accent gls i put my driver sun visor down and it literally snapped off in my hand last night and i am driving and trying to hold it up so i can see the road!

Driver side sun visor froze and would not go down. When i applied a little more pressure to make it go down, something snapped and from then on it would not stay in place anymore.just hangs down and flaps around in my line of vision.approximately two weeks later, the very same thing happened to the passenger side visor leading me to believe that the construction of the visors are defective.

Driver side visor drops out of clip on secured side blocking view while driving.clip which is suppose to keep unit secured to vehicle is small plastic ring which breaks easily.dealership just replaced this less than two years ago while vehicle was still under warranty.one would think that a little used item would not break as easily as this visor does.

Both sun visors on driver and passenger side of vehicle fail to stay in place. The visor on the driver's side dropped down without warning while i was driving, hitting me on the top of the head, and hanging in partial obstruction of the windshield. When i pushed it to the side it obstructs my vision on the left and hangs haphazardly. The faulty visors are a safety hazard which are a result of a product defect beyond my control. I am a member of a growing number of dissatisfied hyundai owners who have experienced similar problems with their sun visors. These problems pose a significant safety risk to hyundai drivers whose vision while driving may be obstructed by these faulty visors. These experiences and safety concerns/complaints are logged back as far as 2008 and can be accessed at this url http://howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=157121.

When i flipped my visor down on the driver's side, it fell out of its socket causing the wires to exposes, and to loose visibility. It keeps falling out of the socket in front of my face while driving.

Drivers side sun visor assembly design allows it to fall down and flap thereby causing myself the driver and owner to have an accident. Hyundai refuses to acknowledge this defect as a serious safety issue.i could have been killed!!!!!i was driving in heavy traffic on a u.s. Interstate in south carolina.

I have had my 2008 hyundai for several years now, and i love it, but the plastic pieces/sun visors in the model have broken off. I have looked for some online, and they have ridiculous prices. It seems to be a large problem with hyundai, and eventually someone's life/lives will be endanger, because the visibility isn't great. I have tried to fix them but, they both driver/passenger need to be replaced. I checked out reviews online, and many people have complained of the visors just breaking off quickly. Please know that because my warranty is up, i cannot replace them but, this is an ongoing issue with not only myself but, several others around. This product needs to looked at. I would not recommend anyone to this vehicle if i knew how much plastic visors/ handle would break off so easily.

While driving my car the sun visor came out of the socket and would not stay.this was a shock andcould have caused an accident due to unexpected internal failure/defect of car part that was not caused by the driver, anything living, dead, real or unreal. This has happened to the drivers side and was fixed by a hyundai dealer a few months back, now the passenger side sun visor is doing the same.i would have taken it back to the dealer but when the drivers side sun visor was replaced i was told that the warranty for something like this was up.what's going on with these sun visors, are they programmed to give out after a period of time?this is not ok!

The driver side sun visor keeps falling down. I've had this happen on my 2007 hyundai sonata as well. From the research i've done online, all hyundai model years 2006-2009 have the same issue with the parts used in the sun visor. I'm no longer under factory warranty and the dealer won't fix it. This is a manufacture issue.

Drivers side sun visor would not stay up, then just fell all the way out, had to have the light disconnected, not under warranty hyundai dealer said, no recall for this specific auto. Driving when this happened.

Critical: drivers sunvisorunexpectedly fell out of it's mounting while traveling at night on a very narrow 2-lane bridge. Darned near got me killed!!!. This is a serious hazard and a very poor & dangerous design flaw. Replacement units are very expensive and equally flawed. Yes, my vehicle was in motion @ about 45 mph and had i not had quick reflexes, i could have either slammed into the bridge rail or head -on with an oncoming vehicle. Please get this corrected because it is a widely reported problem by many hyundai vehicle owners in addition to other years & models. Thank you

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent. The contact stated that the sun visors failed to stay up. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage and vin was not available.

This issue directly affects the sun visor of the vehicle.when driving down the highway, attempting to move the sun visor down to block the sun resulted in the plastic sheathing to break that covers the metal tube inserted into the sun visor.as the plastic is what keeps the sun visor up and out of the way, the sun visor now falls and blocks the visibility of the driver, regardless of position.it has become increasing difficult to drive now that the driver no longer has a sun visor that will stay in the correct position, and it continues to block the direct view of the driver.for now, the driver has removed the sun visor just to have some visibility when driving.i have heard many complaints from other drivers of this model as well, and these same visors are put in 06-11 hyundai accents.there is already a service bulletin for hyundai sonatas with the same issue, but i haven't seen one for any of the accent models.this bulletin number for the sonata's is 09-01-003, group campaign, dated february of 2009.a replacement is around $150, which is extremely high for a defective product that will fail again and should be corrected before being sold to someone.also, as this is directly a safety issue, this should be repaired without cost if qualified under a recall/service bulletin.

Left sun visor snapped off as i was leaving my driveway on a sunny day. I disconnected the wiring and visor so as to improve visibility. I am waiting for a recall in order to have the repair/replacement completed.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai accent.the contact stated that the driver's side sun visor detached from the plastic holder. As a result, the instrument panel wires that were attached to the sun visor also failed and caused the entire instrument panel to darken. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000 and the approximate current mileage was 50,000.

The passenger side sun visor made a pop and won't stay up. The drivers side sun visor fell down and will not stay up. The drivers side sun visor falls down into the line of sight. The drivers side sun visor will not even stay up in the hole that goes into the ceiling. It is hanging by the spring cord.

Passenger sun visor come out. Put it back in through the hole but did not stay. Few months later, driver side sun visor came out as well.

Sun visors are broken on both the driver and passenger sides.i've been looking on the web this morning and am amazed by how many other people seem to have the same issue with their visors.it's really quite problematic as these both don't function properly now and hinder visibility from inside this rather small car. The driver side visor is hanging from what looks like some type of cord on the left hand side.i am unable to secure it back up and it is constantly flapping around.i live in texas and the sun is brutal here while driving, and the visor is really necessary for a safe trip.i have at times had to hold it up with one hand while i'm driving to be able to block the sun and see the road.the passenger visor has a different problem and is no longer able to be adjusted, so i have it tacked up behind the rearview mirror with the extension that slides out on the right.the passenger visor broke within the first year i had the car, the driver's side broke during the second year.with the number of people complaining about this and the safety issues it presents, i really feel hyundai should be made accountable to fix this.i've never had this happen in any other car i've owned and it really seems that they could come up with a better design or parts!

The driver's side sun visor made an odd sound (like a pop) then flopped down into my daughter's line of vision. Yesterday afternoon, the passenger's side visor did the same thing.

The 2008 hyundai tiburon gt i purchased does not have a rear window wiper. Due to snow today, while driving i could not see out of the back of my window. I had to get out of my car while on a busy street to wipe off the window. I could not back out of a parking space with any confidence that all was clear behind me. **at the end of this form, tiburon is not listed as a hyundai model.

Purchased 2008 hyundai accent from metro suzuki, dartmouth ns on august17, 2009.was informed by salesman when buying the car that the rear passenger tire had a broken and missing stud.but was reassured the car was safe to drive home(500km distance).a few days later when i had the stud replace there were also two more studs broken on that same tire, so in actuality i drove a car 500km with three broken studs.the car was safety inspected and passed with no infringements only days before the purchase by mechanics employed by metro suzuki.i feel my safety and the safety of my family was jeopardized by this hasty sale.i feel they only wanted my money and were eager for me to take the vehicle into my ownership.
