Regarding nhtsa reference # 1088179:my air bag light started staying on around february 2017. I made appointment on phone with only hyundai certified service dealer near my home 3-2017and drove to chico (70 miles away). They said it must be battery and charged me for a new battery. I called them around april 1, 2017 telling them light was still coming on and they said i would have to buy a whole new seat and system, no safety issue recognized by hyundai, therefore i would be responsible to entire cost regardless of safety issues. I called hyundai usa which gave me a case # 1012618 but said there is no recall on file with hyundai and i could file a complaint with nhtsa. I am sending them a copy of what i am filing with you. I looked up other hyundai accent 2007 complaints and hyundai said there's not enough to make a recall. A local auto repair agreed to replace items for my paid invoice amount enclosed. I'm filing this now because i don't want to be a statistic for seat belt failure or faulty air bag deployment and maybe help someone else.

The air bag light comes on. We have fixed the problem twice. The seatbelt buckle is unstable which makes the air bag lights come on. Hyundai charges to have this replaced even if u have a warranty.

Driving in idaho, the car started to slide on snow and slush hitting a guard rail head on, causing the vehicle to careen from the right to the left side of the road.leaving the road caused the car to flip on the roof, where the engine caught fire.only the driver curtain airbag deployed, resulting in the driver and passenger sustaining unnecessary injury that resulted from hitting the steering wheel and front dashboard which led to being hospitalized.a concussion sustained by the driver as well as knee and back injuries.the passenger sustained injuries to his knees, hands, neck and back.the engine had caught fire and had a open and visible flame seconds after the car came to rest.driver immediately crawled out the broken window and used snow to extinguish the fire.both driver and passenger where wearing a seatbelt.there are pictures and a police report.

Received error code b1448. Which is defective passenger seat sensor. Other hyundai cars in this year with this same code have been recalled. Why not the accent. Because of this the passenger airbag will not work. Repair for this sensor is almost $1000.

Airbag light is on so i took it to local dealer. They told me the issue was with my driver's side seat belt and they would have to run more tests to pin point the problem. Of course these test we're not free of charge so i declined them. They informed me that neither airbags would deploy in an accident. How this issue is not covered blows me away.

The air bag light is in and won't go off. I am worried the system won't work in an accident & also concerned that their has not been a recall on the airbags that have injured others when deployed

Air bag light is on with code b1517, and b1448. Shop is unable to determine whether airbag will deploy or not. How many people have to complain about the same issue before something is done about it? i've read multiple complaints over the same issue. My airbag light has came on in my car. Dont know which airbags it is.

There is a split in the passenger dash air bag, that has been getting bigger as time goes on. Took to dealer to get fixed. Will entail replacing airbag and costing a lot. We feel that it is the manufacturer responsibility to have this done not our. They disagree.

Car was in an accident and the air bag(s) did not deploy. The was major front end damage done to the vehicle. The accident resulted in some bodily injury that required medical attention. I had spoken to the police officer on the scene, my doctor in the emergency room and the mechanic at the auto body shop and they all said there was no reason that the air bags should not have deployed.

I purchased a 2007 hyundai accent on may 12, 2007.on the day i purchased the vehicle i realized that the passenger air bag would not activate when my fiance sat in the seat.we pointed this issue out to the salesman , and he suggested i bring the car in on monday to get the sensor checked out.i brought the car in to the dealership service department on may 14, 2007.the service department could not find any problem with the sensor.later that day i had my fiance sit in the passenger seat againthe sensor still did not recognizedher as large enough to activate the air bag system.i went back to the dealership service department on may 17, 2007 to have them look at the sensor again.they indicated that there was nothing they could do because their system showedthe sensor as operating properly.i then called hyundai manufacturing consumer affairs office to discuss theproblem. Hyundai manufacturer's current positionwas that the sensor was functioning properly.however, i have done some research on the compliance requirements for the advanced passenger air bag systems.the results of my research showed that my car wasnot in compliance with either of the testing methods available for the manufacturer to use.iwasawaitingfor a final response on the problemfrom hyundai.

I purchased a new hyundai accent on 07/17/07 and discovered on 07/18/07 that the airbag sensor for the front seat passenger will not activate for a passenger that is 5'7" tall and 115 lbs.the airbags (front & side) will not deploy in the event of a crash because the sensors installed in the seat do not recognize a person of this stature.the vehicle was brought in for service 3 times for the same problem and in an independent study done by dealership management, 3 out of 10 times the sensor did not detect a person of this stature.this was tested on a floor model in the showroom with the same results.hyundai engineering department has refused to proceed with a claim for defect and stated to me that a person of this size needed to ride as a backseat passenger.they advised no further action would be taken and determined the sensor was working within manufacturer's guidelines.there is no written guideline for weigh standards and this is clearly a safety issue that i refuse to accept. I made appointment on phone with only hyundai certified service dealer near my home 3-2017and drove to chico (70 miles away). They said it must be battery and charged me for a new battery. Hello,i own a 2007 hyundai accent and i happened to be driving on the queensway and a lady pulled up beside me and told me that i had no rear brake lights. I brought my car back home and i conducted a search to see if there were any recalls for my vehicle with the issue that i am having. There was indeed a recall about the rear brake lamp switch. I contacted my local hyundai dealer and they said that yes there was a recall. I brought my vehicle into the dealer the next day to find out that my car was not covered under the recall and the switch that i need was on back order because of the recall. I was very upset because my vehicle was not safe to drive and the dealer was not going to cover the issue or nor was the part even available. I contacted hyundai canada and i explained the issue to them and they said that i was out of luck because the part was on back order and it would be a couple of months before the part would be available. I asked if they would be willing to cover a rental because it was a unsafe to drive and they said "no" that i would have to find my own way. I feel that this issue should be made aware so that issues like mine could be deal with differently. I feel that hyundai canada could have provided me with some sort of help other then your out of luck. I rely on my car on a daily bases and i could not afford to pay over $1000 per month to have a rental car. Thank you!

Vehicle in motion on highway when driver side seat back rotated forward without warning forcing driver's upper body and head toward steering wheel resulting in an extremely unsafe driving condition.vehicle taken to hyundai service center which recommended replacing sw assy-pwr seat motor part # 88193-3l100-k7 (information from service order). Vehicle owner reported problem to hyundai national service center 1-800-633-5151 which informed the owner this vehicle defect was not covered under any recall.

The airbag light came on. I have taken it to the dealer twice, they have cleaned around the sensor to make the light go off twice. They said that if it comes on again, they have to replace the entire passenger side seat. Dm scan code: b1448. They told me that if i don't get it fixed, the air bags will not deploy if there is a collision.

Stop lamp switch malfunction.apparently this is/was a problem on many hyundai cars from 2007 because they issued a recall on over half a million cars.my specific car (vin number) was not included; however my stop lamp switch did malfunction.i feel like i should have been part of that recall.

I was all most rear ended by another car when i realized i didn't have brake lights. Who knows for how long. I took it to big o tires and they told me it was my brake light switch that went out. I went online to see how much one would be and saw a recall. So i called for a reimbursement for the part but wastold that my vin number was not apart of the recall even thought my make and model and year were. For the exact recall problem.

Brakes need to be replaced after 26,752 kms front and back. Dealer claims front & rear brakes completely worn. Alternative reputable repair company does complete inspection and brakes are only 60% worn and do not need replacement. If dealer is correct it is a major safety hazard after such little use. Further, another purchaser was servicing their hyundai and she said her brakes need replacement after 22,000 kms. Unable to understand how this company can receive so many awards and have such poor product.

The contact owns a 2007 hyundai accent.she discovered safety recall under nhtsa campaign id number 09v122000 (service brakes, hydraulic:switches:brake light).the authorized dealer was notified of the recall.she experienced the identical failures as mentioned in the recall.however, the vin was excluded from the recall defect.the current mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2007 hyundai accent. The contact stated that the air bag warning light flickered and the front passenger side air bag off warning light illuminated. Underside, wheel wells, and now body of car are rusting out. The front control arms needing to be replaced because of the rusting.a mechanic asked what had happened to the car and if it had been sitting for a long time.the car has not been sitting and is driven under normal conditions for mostly to and from work. The mechanic stated he'd not seen such bad rusting like that.

Passenger side door handle fell off upon trying to open, contacted manufacturer was told there is a recall but not for the month my car was made.(6 months ago)i paid to have that door handle fixed.yesterday i went to enter the driver side, same thing happened, something snaps and falls inside the door and the handle is not longer able to be used .the vehicle was parked and not running during both situations.

At my 15,000 m service for my '07 hyundai accent 3dr hatchback i was informed it needed a complete alignment and four new tires.i was told later that this car cannot be aligned in the rear as there are "no adjustments" to do it. I was shocked as i hadno accident and am a careful driver. I asked what could be done and the dealership suggested a "cam kit". Many weeks later hyundai's district parts and service manager sent a message that i should take my car to a bodyshop i am still trying to get hyundai tohelp with this problem and am concerned that this could be a safety issue.

Corner of visor snapped suddenly while driving, causing visor to hit driver in the face while driving. This happened again on the passenger side. Passenger visor has continued to break to the point the light stays on, illuminating the car.

The driver side sun visor was broken, so it fell down while i was driving. It has potential danger. And it is hard to find a replacement. Tthough the dealer can provide the part, it's ridiculously expensive. I hope hyundai makes the part more sustable and the genuine part can be available more. Thanks

I purchase a 2007 accent hyundaiand while driving it stalls very dangerous. I purchased this car for my son as his first car. While the car is in motion it just stops running while the car is in motion. Wontstart upfor20 min or an hour just to do it again. You can be on the highway or just up the road very dangerous. Car just stops for no reason whywasn't thiscar recalled.

While approaching intersection with green light, drivers visor fell down and completely blocked visability.light changed causing three car accident.i was hospitalized due to injury and am now talking to an attorney about suing hyundai as this is a known problem and has not been recalled nor have auto owners been advised of issue.from searching web there are thousands of hyundai vehicles which vary in year of car that have this issue.i am going to put out feelers for class action law suit and wonder why the government has allowed people to be injured, if not killed, due to this malfunctioning auto part.

Temperature light, check engine light, speedometer, rpm gauge, gas gauge, and odometer all stopped working at the same time.i was told it was a short in the computer ($1100 to fix).the car is 6 years old, i don't think this should have happened; it seems like there is faulty wiring/parts.

I rented a hyundai accent, brand new on 1/13/08 in sint maarten,na for 4 weeks from ace[panoramic] rent a car contract number 589zbb971.on 2/7/08 i arrived at my timeshare, the atrium on billy foley road at approximately 9:45 pm and stopped the car to get out and use a key to open the garage crossbar before entering.i got back in the car and put the car in the drive gear and with my foot still on the brake, the car took off speeding up even as i continued to press the brake down to the floor. I made a quick turn and hit a cement abutment injuring myself and my wife.it is the most horrifying experience of my life.fortunately we are not critically hurt but my wife's chest injury in very painful.we went to a st martin clinic and the doctor said we are ok to go home to ny and we did on 2/9/08.the atrium has a camera in the garage and saw the entire episode.i have asked them to provide a copy to the car rental agency and also to me.it is important for you to inform hyundai of what happened and in checking the internet, i notice others complaining of the car speeding up on its own.

Normal use of sun visor leads to the plastic cracking around the internal support bar. The sun visor slowly starts failing to stay in the full upright position and then eventually will not stay at all. The sun visor will fall to the full down position in the driver's view. The only way to correct the failure is to remove the sun visor completely and replace the entire apparatus.both the drivers and passenger sun visors are broken.

Entering the car, at 7pm, after it was parked at a restaurant, for 1-1/2 hours. The driver side sun visor was hanging down and would not stay up and out of sight, severely impairing driving vision.

My 2007 hyundai accent driver side sun visor has broken just after warranty went out. It will not stay in the up position anymore. It is in my face and very hazardous while driving. I have not replaced yet because the dealer wants $190.00 to repair/replace. I have read about numerous complaints about this on all hyundai's. Please help!

Sun visors drop down while traveling down the road blinding the driver. Sun visors do not stay in place resulting in a safety hazard for the driver.

Drivers visor won't stay up.falls down continually blocking visibility while driving.

I've had to replace the visor 3 times because the hinge will spontaneously break and the visors will flips down blocking vision.

Driver's side sun visor suddenly broken, piece inside rod cracked or broken. Won't stay up and falls down hazardously blocking view. Not covered by hyundai and hundreds of other owners seem to have same problem.

I was driving on the interstate when my visor simply fell and hit me in the face. It will no longer stay up or in the "down" position, it only hangs there blocking a good portion of the windshield. I have to use the rear view mirror to prop the thing up so that i can see to drive. I feel fortunate that when it fell it did not startle me enough to cause an accident. It is a hazard to not be able to use it in the sun, i live in arizona and it is brutal here. The passenger side visor is also starting to show signs of not staying in place, not as much of a safety issue, but still a problem.

Driver's side sun visor failure - the friction rod inside the sun visor suddenly lost its ability to hold the sun visor in place, resulting in the sun visor dropping unpredictably into the driver's line of sight. This poses a significant safety hazard while driving. Apparently this is a known design/manufacturing defect with hyundai vehicles of this era, and the manufacturer has subsequently produced a redesigned sun visor that is reportedly not susceptible to this type of failure. However, the manufacturer has not issued a recall, instead opting to sell the new part to affected consumers for $150-200.

Drivers side sun visor broke while driving into the sun.will not stay up on its own.visibility is a extremely hazardous situation with this visor in your way.

Passenger seat sun visor broke.by 'broke' i mean that the internal spring mechanism to keep it folded up failed so it now flops down into the line of sight and interferes with visibility.it cannot be folded back up out of visibility, it just keeps flopping straight down.judging from comments on forums, this is an extremely common problem with hyundai sedans, and is a big safety hazard, especially if it happens to the driver side visor, because of how it can suddenly fail and interfere with visibility.

Drivers side vanity mirror wouldnt stay up (like so many others) less then 2 days after purchasing from used car dealership (2007 accent, bought in 2016). Since the thing wouldnt stay up while driving and i had someone following me to get someplace they needed to be asap, i just ripped the darn thing off because it was already cracked on the support bar. It came right off with very little effort required. I dont use it so i have no intention of having it fixed using velcro to hold it up after its put back in place. I removed the wiring and bar attachment. Im just grateful there was no traffic at the time, so there was little chance of an accident (other than accidental drift to the side).

Hyundai commerce sold me vehicle that has not passed smog yet and or the 90-day extension has expired. They never bother to mention that at the time of purchase.they put brand new tires onmy car 2 week after i purchased it. I blew a tire on the freeway on november 5 2014.the tire shoul d be less than 3 months old. My side mirrors do not work they do not rotate correctly. Therefore making it difficult to see out of at times. They said they replaced the motor but they are still not working. They said they fixed the alignment howver the car is still sliding to the right.they have not helped to correct their error and are pushing the car onto me and making it my problem. As a first time car buyer they used aggressive and intimatiion tactics to try and scare me.please help.
