I have a 1996 hyundia accent ,i have had to replace the drivers side door handle 3 times. The first time the dealer said he would have to order one ,but this last time he had plenty in stock ,he said he keeps a good stock because so many break.this would be a safety hazard if you were in a wreck and could not get out. In louisiana you can not get an inspection sticker with out this handle in working order.

Pulse generator failed causing transmission to stick in second gear.

When driving at both residential & highway speeds the transmission seems to slip out of gear into neutral causing a racing of the engine & a sudden jerking of the vehicle. So far this has resolved after several seconds and the transmission re-engages. This has happened intermittently. The second report relates to the the engine not moving into overdrive when it should. Both of these problems have been happening randomly but with increasing frequency.

I notified hyundai,western nat'l, taylor automotive in ga., and todey in ca. Not until after i called with charges was i told hyundai had to do the repairs for warranty. Ca. Told me that i misunderstood my owner's manual when it said that if it was unreasonable to get the vehicle serviced by an authorized hyundai tech., my warranty would be nullified. Hyundai nullified my powertrain warranty 1month later. I was told by hyundai's cust serv.in ca. That i had no right to call my situation an emergency,only they had that right. I asked them and all concerned why they had me tow the car knowing my local tech had diagnosed the problem and they knew that. I was told because another tech touched the transmission and they did not take transmissions apart but switch to new trans. They would chrg. Me at 1/2 price.a "new" transmissionand p/up of the car was8/24/2001. On the way home,the car would slow down on small inclines fr 55 -45. It started stalling when turning or going over bumps. I was able to take it back on 1/9/2001 and no codes from diagnostic mach. And the tech saw that a hose needed cleaning for the accelerator sticking. Almost home,the car jerked, stalled, changed gears;reved up and would choke when accelerating.it threatens to go off and sometimes does when accelerating from 0-anything. I was told i had to bring it back, but i am afraid that it will stop on the road like it did 1/9/2002 when a truck almost hit me. The car is in worse shape now then before. I know these problems have been documented at hyundai from more than i. We all seem to void warranty,1996 accent's transmission defective,gears shifting problems,no codes or findings when broughtin for serv.&rude reps.

There was a recall on a 96 hyundai accent, received letter in mail about two years ago, took car to repair center at that timetech said everything was fine. On jan 30,2006 was driving car and front control arm snapped pertaining to the recall that was done. Called hyundai corp was just told to wait for paper work and investigation even though if i were going at a high speed the police officer said the car could have flipped and caused more damage. I hold hyundai corp liable for not fixing the problem when they did the recall, it seem to me like they were more worried at offering me more services at fee then actually fixing the problem at the time i was a the shop. If they don't act within a timely manner to resolve this problem i believe the government should intervene.

Within 2500 miles of the dealership inspection the recall defect occurred.both lower ball joints needed to be replaced. One ball joint rusted through, and the other had developed a fracture.

Dt*: the contact stated, the service dealer refused to honor recall # 02v341000 for the front lower control arm. The vehicle was inspected in august of 2003. The front lower control arm on the right side was replaced in 2005 and the left side front lower control arm was replaced in august 8, 2006, at the owners expense. The manufacturer and service dealer determined there was no recall in the company database. The contact showed the service dealer a copy of the recall letter.

Recall repair of the installation of a spring guide to prevent the spring from contacting the tire in the event that it breaks due to corrosion is not a sufficient repair, repair does not illiminate the possibility of spring failure due to corrosion of rock salt.
