On 4/24/14, my wife was driving our 2009 hummer h3 down our driveway with our 2 younger boys inside.before the end of the driveway, both the driver side and passenger side curtain airbags deployed.she was going between 5mph and 10mph and did not hit anything.the airbag missed our 7 year old and grazed our 9 year olds head.thank god they were too short.however, the airbag did hit my wife hard in the side of the head, neck and shoulder and knocked her over to the center console.she was bruised, dazed, swollen, had burn marks on her neck and could not hear out of her left ear.now the headliner is destroyed, the seatbelts are locked up and useless and the sunroof leaks.i filed a claim with my insurance company and they said that they will not cover it but will look at it before making a final decision because the issue was "mechanical".i also have a claim open with gm customer care and are waiting for the results, but it does not sound good.after searching the internet, i have found several instances where other hummer owners have experienced the same thing and suggested filing a complaint here.please help as we now are paying for a vehicle and insurance that is not able to be driven.thank you.

Air bag module not responding and is dangerous due to the fact it could deploy at a random time while driving. The air bag light stays on after the vehicle is in motion causing a potentially dangerous incident. Also hairline cracking in the radiator due to the plastic top of the radiator tank rubbing on the vehicles frame.

I was traveling down the highway and the passenger and driver's side airbags deployed almost causing me crash.they deployed for no reason and no airbag light or warning was given.not understanding how they would deploy without a crash or some type of vehicle damage had occurred. Major safety issue.now what to do?no recall?ive seen many complaints about this happening in the 2009 hummer h3.

The contact owns a 2009 hummer h3. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the front driver and passenger side curtain air bags deployed after driving over a bump. The vehicle was inspected and test driven by an engineer of the dealer who stated that the vehicle went through a rollover situation and that the vehicle was operating normally at 25 mph. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 61,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.

Driving to work one morning it was a winter cold day i was going northbound and a vechicle going southbound pulled out to pass a transport truck and kept going i slowed down went to right a wee bit and car hit me head on !! i was woken by onstar and finally got out exiting the passenger side door !! i received left knee abrasions and few cuts and checked over by ems and did a followup later on day other driver transported to hospital with bad injuries !! from being in shock i kinda accepted accident but started dealing with concussion and ptsd !! few days later adjuster and i looked at truck in the impound and was shocked that i looked ok with the damage !! his first thought was high impact and wondered about air bag later on !! the hummer was a write off but i managed to take a few pics !! i was preparing for head on crash so i covered my face from all the airbags deploying but the only one that came out was the low impact on the steering wheel !! my injuries to head may be more serious then i thought because neuro tests are being done !! there was been no recalls for airbags for the h3t but it was during the recession they were built and i believe total production in both years was over 5000 so very unlimited and possisbly could be the first one in an accident !! i have a few pics and i can forward them !! i live in canada so address is wrong !! thanks [xxx] .... Side curtain airbags deployed.

The contact owns a 2009 hummer h3. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35-40 mph over a pot hole, the side air bags deployed. The passenger in the front seat was struck in the head with the air bag and sustained minor injuries. The seatbelts then became extremely tight on the passengers and the interior dome lights illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing.the approximate failure and current mileages were 13,000.

While driving the plastic case on the side of the driver seat breaks away and automatically starts the electric seat to move down and back, causing risk of accident

After bringing my hummer h3 to the dealer for a/c heater wire harness and resistor, the hvac temp dial is not working properly. On full cold it works fine. Move it 1 click toward warm it goes full warm..it was working fine before i brought to the vehicle to the dealer

Driver was driving and started to smell something burning as she was driving the car.shortly after she begin to see smoke emitting from under the glove box.then sparks begin to drop onto the front passenger side floor.she proceeded to exit the vehicle as the smoke and sparks were intensifying.eventually the entire cabin was engulfed in flames.the fire department was called.

Needed recall for hummer h3. "reduced power/service stab system/traction" notification that appears without warning, and immediately drops the engine to almost no ability to accelerate. This began happening in local traffic, then on the interstate at high rates of speed. Gm has been notified of this issue, even after numerous attempts to repair this very dangerous malfunction without success, they are unwilling to address it with a recall. The most dangerous of the numerous times this happened was on 4/27/17. I had just left moses gm of charleston, wv after they had repaired the vehicle for this issue. I drove approximately 5 miles on interstate 64 before losing power, and almost being struck by a vehicle on the south charleston bridge. The dealership towed me back to the service center where the vehicle was once again unsuccessfully repaired. It seems that this is an issue with gm vehicles around the same time period, and not just the hummer line. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The contact owns a 2009 hummer h3. While attempting to start the vehicle, it failed to start initially. The vehicle felt as if it had a delayed start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery failed and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to the dealer on several occasions where it was repeatedly diagnosed that the battery was the reason for the failure. The contact stated that the battery was changed a total of three times in four years, but the failure continued. The dealer mentioned a manufacturer's recall for the wiring for the contact's year, make, and model, but insisted that there were no other recalls. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The nhtsa campaign number was unknown. The failure mileage was 2,000.

Recently my 2009 hummer h3, has been acting strange. While driving down the road, warning lights will flash, will beep, (traction control, abs, service 4wd, change oil, service tpm), all the while all things electrical stops working such as headlights, brake lights, blower fan, heated seat, turn signals, and all this while driving down the road at normal speed. It started doing this as the weather got colder but this h3 is well maintained and is garage kept and i only use it to drive to and from work. It is now a safety hazard and with these issues will not be able to trade it in. I have no idea where to start in order to fix it. After finally driving for 30 min or so sometimes it will finally quit messing up and act normal.

The contact owns a 2009 hummer h3. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the air conditioner suddenly failed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the connector module for the heat, air, defrosters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v421000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,900.

Every so often the passlock security system malfunctions and my hummer won't start. I have to wait 10 minutes before i can start the vehicle again. It fails without warning. Its been happening more and more often. There was only 55,000 miles on the vehicle when i noticed it starting to act up.i sliced my fingers open on a job and had to drive myself to the emergency room but my hummer wouldn't start because of the ignition security failure. I lost a lot of blood in my hand sitting waiting the 10 minutes. The doctor said i might lose the tips of my fingers because it took so long to get there.i'm sure other people had worse situations, but i seen hundreds of people with the same vehicle having the same issue. It a dangerous issue and should be recalled before a life is lost if it hasn't already.

Vehicle will not crank up due to faulty pass lock-security system. After 10 minutes, the system will reset and start. At the beginning, this was infrequent, however, as of late, this problem becomes very persistent, several times a week. Gm has recalled many other gm vehicles with faulty ignition in 2014 for gm vehicles made during the same years as my vehicle. Gm did not recall hummer and should have.

Blower stopped functioning. Received letter of recall from hummer. Car dealer inspected and stated it is underrecall however parts are not available. Called hummer customer care. Informed iam not covered, pay out of pocket. Recall number is: 15v421 my investigation into this matter revealed that this has been an issue since 2006. Parts are available yet ???

The security system is activated and the truck will not start the engine! i must wait 10 minutes to start the vehicle!

2009 hummer h3.consumer writes in regards to several electrical problems and other vehicle issues.consumer has previous complaint with another vehicle listed in artemis.

Issue with blower not getting power; cannot get heat or air conditioning without blower, fuses were checked, heater resistor checked, switch seems good (such the air conditioning light will come on when the switch is on but no blower), wiring harness looks good, blower seems to have a possible intermittent problem as the blower stopped working last spring but worked a couple times in the fall.still don't know what the problem is.there are a lot of blower issues on-line such as hummer forums and colorado trucks.

My 2009 gm hummer with 39000 miles has an issue with the ignition/ disablingsystem. The vehicle cranks some time andsome times it doesn't displaying the locked security symbol on the dash. It has come on while driving and i'm concerned it will shut the vehicle off.i'm absolutely concerned for me and my families safety.i have quit driving the vehicle as much as possible.

I started the ignition, turned up the blower fan speed, and the cabin filled with smoke which smelled of burning plastic and electrical wires. Blower fan did not function, and upon following the smell and smoke, i traced the problem to a red electrical connector directly under the glove box. The connector connects to the blower motor resistor and had melted into the resistor unit fusing both parts together in one large piece of burnt plastic. The orange wire, (the largest gauge wire on the connector), had melted back away from the connector as well exposing bare wire.

The vehicle has been brought to the dealer @ city cadillac more than a 12 times & they still have not fixed the 1st (#15042) or 2nd recall (#14582). The truck has visibility, electrical, steering, leaking & motor mount issues just to say the least plus i am a disabled us marine veteran who was shot in desert storm and i really need my vehicle to get around especially since i have handicap license plates for my special needs. Can you please help???????

My 2009 hummerh3 on occasion will not start. It can happen any time, any where, under any weather conditions. When this happens the car radio, interior lights, etc. Are however still working.i then have to wait approx. 10 to 15 minutes, andthe vehicle starts up like nothing happened.. From doing some on-line research i found out that many, many, hummer h3 owners from years 2002 to 2009 have this same disturbing issue.i had this problem from day one when i bought this vehicle. However now it is becoming more frequent.. This occurred three times in the last week. Some attribute this to a faulty security pass lock system.i feel this is widespreaddangerous issue and there should be an immediate recall on all hummer h3's that have this problem.

The hummer would not start, the engine did not turn, with battery in great condition, signs of faulty ignition and passive lock system.

The truck will lock the ignition out for 10 minutes.you are unable to start the truck.now having that happen in an undesirable parking area or out in the winter old, is not safe.has been happening at random times for the last 4 years or so.

The contact owns a 2009 hummer h3. The contact stated that the vehicle shut down and lost all power for ten minutes. The failure occurred without warning. The contact visited hiley buick gmc (3535 w loop 820 s, fort worth, tx 76116, (817) 349-6235), but they were not aware of the failure or how to perform the repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2009 hummer h3. The contact stated that as soon as the engine was started, the whole dash emitted smoke.the resistor wire under the glove box caught on fire and it spread rapidly. The vehicle was destroyed. The fire also spread to additional vehicles that were parked near the contact's vehicle. There were no injuries. A fire report was available. The failure and the current mileage was 120,000. The consumer stated a day before the incident, the heater blower motor would come on and then shut off on its own. Sometime it would work, and other times, it wouldn't. Updated 02/07/13updated 02/12/2013

At any given time the engine will not crank. I have to wait exactly 10 minutes, then it will start as if nothing was wrong.it happens hot or cold. It has been about 3 years now and starting to happen more and more often. Dealer can not find anything because the problem is to intermittent. I believe it is the security system, but that is just my thoughts.

As in the other reports, my vehicle had same electrical short and fire under passenger glove box area. Here is the technician repair notes which completely verify there is an engineering problem with a/c and heater blower motor electrical configuration:verified customer concern, opened and removed glove box, removed blower motor resister (2fastners) from hvac box, inspected resistor, attempted to unplug resistor, connectors stuck together, forced connectors apart, found they were melted together due to short in hvac system. Installed new harness:25949869installed new resistor:10397098blower motor hvac system now operable; unknown reason for short.

We had been having problems with the ac not working as well as it used to and blamed it on the age of the vehicle.the first time we took a trip outside of town and after 1.5 hours of driving, the ac completely stopped working. We looked at the blower motor connector module and noticed discoloration and melting of a plastic wire connector.we had ordered the part to replace it when we heard the recall announced on tv.we returned the part and are waiting for the local gmc dealer to get the recall notice.

I rec'd a safetyrecall notice 8/15 for 2009 h3 recall# 15042 or 15v421 (2 different # in letter) from hummer . The connector module that controls blower motor speed may overheat." if this condition occurs, there is the risk that the heat generated could melt the plastic surrounding the connector module, which increases the risk of a fire"i called dealer-and told gm has no"fix" for this issues (i call every few weeks) i called gm direct that said they don't have the parts yet to fix it. I was advised to drive around with a fire extinguisher in vehicle and not use the fan and leave the car if i smell smoke .nothing has happened yet and i am not using fan but i would like this condition fixed before a fire occurs. It is very unsettling to drive this way. Hummer/gm

Periodically 2-3 times a year for past6 years when driving down the high car will die, when pull over to the side of the road, car will not restart, may restart after 10 minutes or after towed to repair shop, taken to the dealer several times and several times to high end independent auto shops, no error code ever found.read on hummer forums issue with ignition switch, replaced ignition switch and fault has not recurred.

Vehicle is parked and this issue happens wether or not the vehicle has be used, just after turning it off or when its been sitting overnight. When i turn the ignition/key the vehicle will not start each time it makes no indicating/common noise when trying to start it. The battery, alternator and starter check out and are fine. Other gm products have this recall however, this one does not.(?)

My wife was driving to work and the reduced power alarm came on the car was just driving like it was going to shut down..,

The contact owns a 2009 hummer h3. When the key was placed in the ignition, the vehicle misread the key and disabled the fuel line. The vehicle became temporarily inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the anti theft pass lock system failed and would need to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired twice for the issue, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2009 hummer h3. While driving various speeds there was a clicking noise within the body mount whenever she made a left or right turn or stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer five time to replace the body mount; however, the noise continued to occur. The key also became stuck in the ignition andthe dealer made several unsuccessful attempts to determine what caused the failure to occur. The battery relay and the ignition switch were replaced but did not correct the failure. The failure mileage was 13000 and the current mileage was 16300.

The contact owns a 2009 hummer h3. The contact stated when she attempted to drive the vehicle, she noticed the passenger side was filled with water and the electrical sensors were all affected. Several days later when the vehicle was dry, the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (flow buick gmc - greensboro1205 bridford pkwy, greensboro, nc 27407) for diagnosis and repairs .the diagnosis was the vehicles internal draining hose was improperly installed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The vehicle was purchased used @ 36954 miles. Approximately a year later (just 2 days ago) @ only 53500 miles i noticed an antifreeze smell. No visible puddle underneath. After monitoring for 1 day more popped the hood this morning and a bit of antifreeze seems to be spraying from the top of the radiator. After just googling once for "hummer h3 radiator leak" the top link leads to hummerforums.com in which is logged many many many owners going back several years up the the present having the exact same issue. Per what is described on the 52 pages dedicated to this one thread and from what i see on my own vehicle this certainly seems to be a design/engineering flaw. It seems a rare few dealerships are owning up to this "flaw" and charging a small amount if any to repair this issue while others are pleading ignorance/innocence and making the plethora of customers eat the nearly $800 dealership repair estimate. The flaw appears to be related to metal chassis parts rubbing on the plastic radiator top creating a hole and a vibratory effect weakening that plastic causing a crack.

At approximately 49,000 mile mark, vehicle started to make unusual engine noise ie. Groan, clicking, usually between 10-20mph, would disappear, then returned between 30-40mph and disappear again at higher speeds.took the vehicle in a total of four times to dealer.first time, they said it was the front brakes/rotors, cost $120. Noise still there. Second time, they said it was the front shocks (covered by warranty but part not in stock have to rtn a third time). Third time, they replaced front shocks(covered by warranty), noise still there.forth time, stated it was the engine mounts andtwo heat shield (also covered by warranty).noise is still there but very faint if you listen closely.dealer says they cant do anything else and agree noise is not suppose to be there.will wait another few months until vehicle is due to be rtn at end of lease term.thank goodness.

The area in which i reside has been in extreme cold temperatures for three days, 28 below zero in the morning the daytime high 4 below zero. The vehicle has anti lock brakes. This morning 1/16/09 i applied the brakes to stop in traffic at @ 25 miles per hour the vehicle would not stop in three car lengths and my vehicle collided into the rear of the vehicle in front of me. No injuries occurred . The damage was mostly to the vehicle that was stopped i front of me. At this time the gm dealer wants the vehicle to be looked at after it has sat out in the cold all night.

When braking at stop sign, heard groan noise from the back brakes. Took to dealer 3 times for same concern, first time answer was "it's normal, second time, reface rear discs, no more noise. After 3 month , same problem, answer was "need to drive more your truck.".return after few weeks , noise now it's worse, they again reface rear discs, my truck have 11000 miles, never seen anything like that. No accidents sofar, but at every stop or light my truck "turns heads" of others drivers but not for the look, it"s the noise.

The vehicle has been brought to the dealer @ city cadillac more than a 12 times & they still have not fixed the 1st (#15042) or 2nd recall (#14582). In 2010 hummer had a hood vent recall , and the fix was applying glue strips to it, this fix was not adequate , as the problem is still existing . This poses yet another safety issue. I contacted gm/ hummer, who refuses to do anything further, case number 8-3873446239. On hummer forum.com. Their are many of us who also have this issue, that the recall fix was no good. The hood louver vent sits on top of the hood, and when it comes loose, it can fly off, hitting another motor vehicle.

Gm passlock system very randomly engages or is trigger without warning when simply turning the key in the ignition to start the car. However, the attempt to start the vehicle is not successfuly which causes the inability to power the vehilce for 10 minutes. There are numerous hummer h3 owners with the same issue. The gm dealers are no help in resolving the problem. In fact i feel as if i'm making it up. I've tried 3 gm dealers now between louisiana and texas. The only thing are expensive guess at the problems the dealers state they can "try" to resolve their very own made gm system. I believe it's an obvious and known issue, because it seems gm made changes to the gm passlock system in the more recent years.i just hope if a dangerous situation ever occurs that my vehicle will start if i need to depend on it. Please check the other list of unhappy h3 customers at the web address(es):http://www.hummerforums.com/forum/hummer-h3-17/how-turn-off-gm-passlock-anti-theft-system-hummer-h3-28665/http://www.carcomplaints.com/hummer/h3/2006/electrical/passlock_light_on_preventing_engine_to_start.shtmljust because the vehicle is no longer in circulation, it doesn't mean we don't expect knowledgeable service or purchasing a new vehicle. Please help us. This is the most inconvenient issue and most annoying and potentially dangerous.thank youwhen:and the vehicle is just parked at my home. I walk in my garage, turn the ignition, and nothing happens... Ugh!!! security light may or may not flash. But that's my cue to go back into the house and sit for 10 minutes before i can leave my home. And this happens everywhere i go: grocery store, parking in the cold, to the mall, to the movies, and the list goes on. It often occurs one right after the other depending on how many different locations i need to travel. Therefore i have to tack on extra 10mins to each location.

Hummer/gm

Hood leaks when it's raining.water drips from the hood.

Installed new harness:25949869installed new resistor:10397098blower motor hvac system now operable; unknown reason for short.
