The manufacturer was made aware of the problem and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 06v417000 (air bag). The approximate failure mileage was 174,000.
Passenger side air bag sensor problem. Air bag will not inflate upon inoact. Warning light on all the time
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated while attempting to turn the vehicle off, the key became lodged in the ignition. Also, the contact mentioned that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. . the failure mileage was 126,000 and the current mileage was 136,000. Updated 9/18/14
As we, the family, were driving home the front driver's side tire slightly bumped into a meridian divider resulting in deployment of the rollover airbags.the vehicle never changed angle of roll during the incident.rollover sensor, in my opinion, is considerably too sensitive.all overhead airbags deployed in which i had to cut the airbags out to drive home.we were unable to use the front seat belts on the drive home due to locking when the airbags deploy.[xxx], our daughter, slept through the whole incident.an incident was reported with either california highway patrol or ventura county sheriff's department immediately after the incident took place.i do not know how many others have filed an incident, but after seeing other people complaining online, i know we're not even close to be the only one nor only gm make/model to be affected by the sensitive sensor.luckily, this all happened later in the evening.if it were earlier, with more traffic, it could've caused a severe accident by lack of vision out of the vehicle and the startle that was created from the deployment of the airbags.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
While driving my 2006 hummer h3 on a back country paved rd, doing the posted speed limit, my side curtain air bags on both sides deployed for no reason. The road had its bumps and stuff like any road but nothing to crazy. The vehicle was not in a crash or rolling over and should not have deployed airbags. This situation could have been deadly, thank god it wasn't. Gm is sending out a third party inspector to look at the vehicle. I have a feeling this will end up in court. There has been many of these cases and gm has not corrected with recall or nothing. Something needs to be done and force them to do the needed recall on this.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic stop, the vehicle was rear-ended and crashed into a pole. The contact sustained injuries to the neck, back and hips.the air bags did not deploy.the contact did not call the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 63,864.
The side impact restraints (side airbags) improperly deployed as i was driving down a gravel road near death valley, ca.not the front airbags, just the sides.no substantial impact was encountered at the time that should have caused them to deploy.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that the driver was traveling approximately 50 mph and attempted to avoid hitting a deer but lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went airborne and flipped over six times, landing head first into the pavement. None of the air bags in the vehicle deployed. The driver's head became lodged between the rail and thrown in various directions several times before snapping. The driver's head and face were crushed and the driver was killed. The medical investigators stated that they believed that the driver was killed at first impact. The vehicle was towed and a police report was filed (south carolina state trooper report e-111833).the failure and current mileage was 51,000.
When i was driving i feel that my steering wheel at the place of my airbag was very hot and become hoter and hoter ...adn was afraid that my car can catch fire .i stop and wiat until the heat goes away took about 45 minutes ...
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle crashed into a fixed barrier while trying to decelerate into a turn. The air bags did not deploy. The driver received injuries to the neck, chest and an abrasion to her head. She was transported to the hospital via ambulance. The police were called and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the vehicle was deemed as destroyed and was unable to diagnose why the air bags did not deploy. The failure mileage was approximately 41,500.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3.the contact stated that the passenger sensing system malfunctions on the cloth seats in his vehicle.the front passenger side air bag disables when it should be enabled.in addition, the air bag indicator illuminates on the instrument panel.one dealer was unaware of the failure.a second dealer stated that they would repair the vehicle through general motors.nhtsa campaign id number 06v417000 (air bags:frontal) was referenced.the failure mileage was 75,000 and current mileage was 76,500.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving 60 mph to a ramp changing to another highway, the contact slammed the brakes when noticed the vehicle hit something which resulted to be a deer.the front air bags did not deploy and the driver seat belt did not restrain.the contact suffered chest bruises and the child riding in the front passenger seat was restrained by the seat belt but suffered a neck injury.the air bag in the passenger side did not deploy either.the contact could not see the object impacted because the hood opened covering the windshield.there were no warning lights illuminated prior to the accident.the police and fire department were present and a police report was taken.the contact and the child were evacuated to a hospital in a private vehicle.the vehicle was taken to a body shop and wasdeemed inoperable.the manufacturer was contacted, who indicated upon the completion of the repairs; to take the vehicle to a dealership for the inspection of the sensors and the seat belt which failed to restrain the driver.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3.the contact stated that the passenger sensing system malfunctions on her aftermarket leather seat cover.the front air bag on the passenger side disables when it should be enabled and vice versa.nhtsa campaign id number 06v417000 (air bags:frontal) was referenced.the failure mileage was 23,000.
-the contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact received recall notice campaign # 06v417000 for the front passenger air bag. After speaking with the manufacturer she was advised that thevehicle was not affected by the recall. The contact stated that there was some failure occurring with the air bag sensor in the leather seats which registers occupancy only occassionally.the air bag sensors were not displayed when someonewas in the passenger seat, also, this was a recall issue.the contact filed complaint## 71-434659912 with the manufacturer, and an investigator came out to inspect the vehicle and diagnosed it as operating normally.an on star representative performed a diagnostic test which revealed that the passenger seat air bag sensor was not registering a passenger ,even though on was seated in the vehicle at the time. The dealer also observed that the passenger seat air bag sensors failed.
Airbag sensor in main dash (not passenger light) keeps coming on, despite having the vehicle into dealer service 4 times.on each occasion, the a part is replaced, the light goes off, and within a few hours to days, the light comes back on.currently the light is off after the 4th trip to the dealer for service.
I was driving on the road at around 20mph and my side curtain airbags (driver and passenger) were deployed without cause. This was on a 2006 hummer h3.
I was leaving a friends house and had to drive through a small ditch and my side curtain airbags deployed for no reason.this is a hummer h3 an off road vehicle which is supposed to be able to drive on a 60 degree angle and this ditch was maybe 2 feet deep and the truck was barely even at any type of angle at all.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3.while driving 30 mph, the side air bags deployed without warning.the dealer stated that there was a defect on the vehicle, but could not determine the component.as of october 12, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle.the current and failure mileages were 25,360.
While driving down the hwy at 73 mph the side air bag curtains deployed without any reason.there was no crash or damages done to the vehicle at the time of deployment other than airbag deployment. The crash module from the vehicle states it detected a rollover event of 0-1/4 turn.we have turned in a claim to our insurance and they are in agreement that the driver nor road conditions had anything to do with the deployment. We are in disagreement with gm and feel that there is some type of defect with the vehicles system that commanded a deployment and want to file a complaint so this is checked into.at the speed the vehicle was going this could have caused an unfortunate accident if the driver was not an experienced driver.we are in the process of having the airbags replaced and interior of the vehicle fixed under our comprehensive portion of our insurance policy. We can retain any of the replaced parts for inspection if necessary.
Dt*:the contact stated while driving on 5 separate occasions the message center read, power reduced and asc failure.the vehicle would not exceed 35 mph during the power failures.the vehicle was pulled off the road without incident and towed to the dealer on 3 occasions.the other 2 occasions the vehicle was driven to the dealer.it was determined the computer that controls all electrical functions failed; however this did not correct the problem.the manufacturer was alerted.
Vehicle had heater blower harness and resistor fail and catch fire for the second time.repaired replaced once before.this particular problem occurs due to a design defect and replacement parts do not correct the underlying problem and it will fail again.it is just a matter of time.the circuits should be fuse protected so this will not burn.part numbers have been changed to upgrade this connection to newer design, but these parts also fail.this is a serious failure of the electrical system.inaddition, the ground terminal to the chassis (by the intake filter in the engine compartment) is suspect as well.overall this is an incredibly negligently designed circuit.one can also find numerous reported failures in related vehicles using the same parts.
I have a 2006 hummer h3, every few weeks or so the motor will turn over but will not start. I let it sit for a while and then it will start.i have taken it to both the dealer and another mechanic but neither can find anything wrong with it.about 6 months ago, i got a new battery thinking that would solve the issue but it has not.
This will be the third blower motor resistor that i have had to replace. This time i am replacing the harness because it burned up so badly on two terminals. Gm has yet to acknowledge this problem... I paid $26 for the resistor, and it's going to be $30 for the harness, and i save a ton on the labor because i am a mechanic, but this is a potential fire hazard. There is an air flow in this area, and can fan or start flames in this area if it occurs while driving.very dangerous! this is my second report.
Driving down the interstate when the heat stopped working.it was particularly cold, but that was not the issue.the blower stopped working and the windows started fogging up.the blower does not work on any speed, useless for defrost, heat, or a/c.i was out of the country for work for a few months, confirmed the issue still exists. Looked into it online, evidently 2006/07 hummers, colorados, and other gm heavy duty trucks this is a common issue.took it to the dealership who confirmed they have to replace the resistor pack in these types of vehicles all the time due to shoddy wiring.they wanted $200 dollars to fix this.if this is so common, how is there no recall!?!?
Wiring harness and resistor burned for the second time for the a/c blower.
Heater a/c fan motor quit. The dealer repaired the link as he said it had gotten hot and burnt out. I can't find invoice at this time, but believe it to be around $90.00. Service done by whitehead chevrolet of truth or consequences, nm. The service mgr said this was a common problem.
My h3 has been having issues with random warning lights appearing. Often multiple lights like engine, check transmission and traction. Each time i would take it to mechanic and would not find a problem anything in engine. Then the 4 wheel light drive would not illuminate. The most recent problem is much worst...while the car was not running the right turn signal came on by itself. I got in it to drive it to local mechanic and while driving it activated the brake and many warning lights were flashing as well.very disturbing.i have owned this vehicle since 2006 now it has 125000 miles. I have kept a complete history of maintenance thatincludes oil changed every time between 3500-5000 miles
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated to 30 mph. The stability tracking system, check engine, and a third indicator all illuminated. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the wires over the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v421000 (visibility). The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Smelled burning smell intermittently, then one day blower just quit blowing any type air, did research found the problem to be the blower motor resistor, resistor and harness had melted so replaced it and worked fine but never really worked on the number 1 setting again.has now happened again january 29, 2014, burning smell and just quit working again.thankfully not expecting 0 degree temps again before i can get the parts and get it fixed again.ordered the blower motor, wiring harness and resistor this time.with the number of complaints on this particular item i certainly hope they issue a recall before someone has a fatal incident.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that the hood was not properly staying up and the contact had to manually hold the hood upon closing it. The contact also indicated that smoke entered the vehicle upon starting. The failure progressed without warning. The contact was unsure if there was an electrical short that was internally occurring and could cause a fire. The vehicle was included in two recalls, but the contact did not receive notification for nhtsa campaign numbers: 10v179000 (structure) and 15v421000 (visibility). The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
A/c heater motor resistor overheated causing smoke throughout the passenger compartmenton the highway this is the third replacement of this part, the wiring overheats and melts the connectorsthis is a very common problem on hummers of all types.my sister owns an h3 as well and has had to replace this twice on her 2007 model h3 due to overheating an melting the connector. Is general motors going to wait until there are numerous fatalities or vehicle fires to rectify this ?a fire in the passenger compartment while at highway speeds is dangerous to say the least
We have battling the problem of the sunroof leaking on our hummer. There is drain tubes in the corners of the sunroof this water is supposed to go do these tubes then on the ground. How ever this is not the case. In most cases the water leaks down the pillars in the trucks dash compartment and soaks the carpet on both sides and the head liner. We have had it to the dealership on several accessions and they just say they were stop up but they just leak the next day like nothing has even been done. They charge 300 dollars to do this. I have the technician tell me that nothing he has done will fix this off the record..when the water is pouring in there is nothing you can do the onstar goes off and your lights on the inside go dim we have had the cpu short out due to water the blower controller both front speakers and behind the dash all the metal parts are covered in rust. When the electrical parts shorted out the wires were burnt and we were driving when this happened on one occasion and had to have it towed. We have tried everything taken it the dealership did not help. The truck is always damp inside. Then of course the smell of the carpets. I even have contacted gm and just said take to the dealership and they are gonna charge the same thing. I am scared for my wife and family to drive this truck. We will not even leave in the garage due the risk of fire. If you google this problem there is over 60k topics on this and forum after forum about it. And every is saying this. It is obvious that this is a design flaw and gm is not going to stand behind this. I think something should done about this before something very bad happens to someone in these trucks. I just want it fixed nothing else.
After i started my vehicle inside my garage i turned the heat on.the truck was still in park.after i turned on the heat i went into the house to get my coat.when i came back out to the truck to prepare to leave i noticed smoke inside the vehicle.i immediately turned the vehicle off and removed the keys. I opened all four doors to let the smoke out, the garage door was already open.the time from when i started my truck to when i saw the smoke was about 15 seconds.i let the truck sit for about an hour before i started looking for what could have caused the smoke. I remembered that the smoke didn't start until after i turned on the heater so i immediately checked all relevant fuses and relays which were good...none were blown.i then set about checking the fan, and as i removed the resistor from the fan housing under the dash and unplugged it i saw that it (the resistor) was burned at one of the blades.with some plastic around it and scorch marks at another blade.this prompted me to inspect the resistor female receptacle on the wiring harness.i began inspecting the receptacle.i found a burned up female blade receptacle.i don't know if the resistor shorted out or the wiring harness shorted out.i went to the auto parts store and bought another resistor because i needed heat in my vehicle so i plugged in and reinstalled the new resistor and started up the truck and observed the resistor.no smoke.i then turned on the heat (fan) and it wouldn't come on so i juggled the wiring harness and it came on.but now i cant select recirculate on the instrument panel.when i do all three lights on all the environmental control knobs just blink about 5 times then stop.. Any assistance you can give me in this matter will be greatly appreciated.thank you.
March 2012 - hummer locked up and will not turn over .. Towed it to dealership .. They replace key ignition all of april my hummer will shut down .. 3 times had it jumped ... Found out it was not the battery ..i was driving when the hummer locked up .. It was very scary ! 68,000 miles only ! currently at the dealership again 2 twice in less than 2 months.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that the key failed to release from the ignition after attempting to turn off the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the tunnel ignition needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,000 and the current mileage was 103,000.updated 09/09/14*lj
While the vehicle is stationary and upon entering the vehicle, the vehicle will randomly not permit you to start the vehicle. After searching online on several forums, i see that thousands upon thousands of people are having this same issue with hummer models, not just the h3. It seems that the ignition is believing you are a burglar, and it locks you out for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes have passed, you can start the car with no problem. The only way to get around this (per gm) is to replace the ignition, but since there are so many complaints of this i believe it should be a recall instead of consumers having to pay for this flaw.
As i was leaving work the other day, my hummer h3 lost its a/c.as i checked it out i found that the a/c pump would turn on, but there was nothing blowing thru the vents.as i did an internet search i found a blog regarding this very problem, it seems to be an issue with a resistor and connector in the blower system.it melts and becomes useless.this is not only an inconvenience at 100 plus degrees, it is a fire hazard as well.i believe this needs to be looked into.
Blower motor quit working. Took to dealer said needed motor wiring harness and resitor.they said the wiring harness caught fire and fused together. Cost of 300.00 to fix. Fire hazard.
Electrical problems, either the vehicle wil no start due to the anti-theft system or i will lose all power when driving.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v421000 (electrical system); however, the parts to perform the recall repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I go to stop traction control stabilizer goes out, i also have been having to buy new batteries and carry a jump box the car ignition doesn't go off all the way. You will come back to the car with the radio playing, drivers window stopped working, etc
2006 hummer h3 security lockout engages randomly. Have repeated occurrences of engine not engaging upon entrance to vehicle. Have to wait 10 minutes before ignition will work again. Problem occurs approximately 3 times a week. Researching online i have found multiple complaints of the same issue with the 2006 h3.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. While driving approximately 50 mph, the air conditioner was activated and began to power on and off independently. The contact also stated that there was an abnormal burning odor. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.
My 2006 h3 has sporadic issues with starting for a few years now. When i try to start it, it will crank fine but will not start. If i wait approximately 10 minutes & try again, it starts with no problems. During this issue, everything else works in the vehicle (radio, lights, etc..). I've had it checked by several mechanics & replaced lots of parts but didn't help this issue at all. I have read many complaints reference this same exact issue online & through nhtsa but nobody has had any positive responses. This is a major issue that should be taken care of by gm as a recall. I will be part of this class action lawsuit through these threads related to this hummer h3 issue. Thank you & waiting to hear about this terrible gm issue.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. When the ignition was turned to the on position, the heat was activated, but failed to engage. The contact stated that there was a burning odor coming from the dashboard. The failure recurred continuously. The contact also observed that the resister and the wire harness were melted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v421000 (visibility); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3.while driving at 70 mph under normal conditions the oil and air bag warning indicator lights turned on and the vehicle began to decelerate.the contact turned the ignition off, and on within 5 minutes, drove the vehicle and failure didn't reappear.the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure.also, the dealerstated that it could be an electrical failure but they couldn't confirm it.the current and failure mileage were both 13,000.
Burned out like many others.
Blower motor for hvac stopped working.a/c compressor kicks on, but no air flow or fan noise.found resistor and wiring harness behind glove box burned out and melted.part numbers affected: 12059296 and 10397098 resistor. This is a fire hazard!!come on, gm!!
While driving at 45mph all systems shut off. No power steering nothing. The car would not restart. This happened multiple times with out warning.
Car has been spontaneously stalling while driving at high speeds. Engine cuts out, power brakes and steering fail, no radio, etc. Vehicle loses all power. It is terrifying. Has happened at least 3 dozen times now. Several visits to dealer could not pinpoint problem. Dealers unable to duplicate stalling, although it has happened to me regularly for months - ie, every time i drive the car (with my two babies) for an extended period on the highway.
The padlock system that the car has it prevents the car to start and leaves you stopped for 10 minutes. It's been doing it lately more in the morning or when the car hasn't been moved in awhile. The security icon in the dashboard blinks when the passlock security enables and that leaves the car without starting.
Sometimes when i go to start my car it will not start.then i wait exactly 10 minutes and it starts right up.this has been going on for about four years now.it happens about six times a month
Gm has a security system called passlock that over time seems to fail and trips a "failure" and flashes a key symbol on the dash and disables starting your vehicle until it resets 10 minutes later.this occurs to my wife almsot 50% of the time she tries to start her vehicle.so far gm has come forward with a fix yet i've seen posts on hummer forumns from hundreds of owners.this has many safety concerns as well as just being a general annoyance: 1) in las vegas we routinely see tempatures over 110f.if the system trips and you have to wait 10 minutes in that heat it can be deadly 2) missing appontments or being late to work because you vehicle intentionally is disabling itself it unacceptable 3) groceries cold/frozen stuck in the heat for 10 minutes waiting for a reset get ruined 4) my wife when alone is stuck waiting outside the vehicle in the heat or locking herself inside waiting for the system to reset can leave her exposed to criminal types
As i was driving to my office from a lunch break, my a/c and ventilation stopped working, i turned the on and off dial and air never came back on, shortly after that a strong "burned" smell came from the glove box of my vehicle, i pulled over and noticed a little bit of smoke coming from underneath the glove box.i did some research on the interned and discovered it was a burned out "vent blower resistor" (ac delco part# 15-80647)i have since replaced it but it still not working. I have the burned part if ever needed, i must say i don't feel at all safe with a situation like this as it has never happened to me. I decided to include my complaint as i have seen many people with the same problems on this vehicle, a fire is eminent and should be prevented.
Onstar emergency request button, and all other onstar buttons do not transmit or receive. A verizon message announces "no phone service available." happen at all times, in all conditions. Verizon, gm and onstar each deny its their problem.
The ventilation system stopping blowing air.i went online and did some research about this and found that many others had the same complaint and how to diagnose it.i opened up the area under the glove compartment and found that a resistor was burnt up.this appears it could have been a very dangerous situation if it had caught fire.
My 2006 h3 (50k miles) has starting issues that have been getting more frequent since last year. When i try to start it, it will crank fine but will not start. If i wait approximately 10 minutes & try again, it starts with no problems.during this issue, everything else works in the vehicle (radio, lights, etc..).i've had it checked by several mechanics & replaced lots of parts but didn't help this issue at all.i have read many complaints reference this same exact issue online & through nhtsa but nobody has had any positive responses. This is a major issue that should be taken care of by gmas a recall.i will be part of this class action lawsuit through these threads related to this hummer h3 issue. Thank you & waiting to hear about this terrible gm issue. Rich
Overheated and melted resistor and wiring harness for the hvac blower motor on a 2006 hummer h3. This has happened to my vehicle and a friend of mine. Also many owners on the internet have had this same problem. It is so prevalent that many parts suppliers are advertising the parts for sale.
Heating/ ac fan blower harness burnt up.a very common problem on an hummer h3/.
Blower motor recall issue. Burning electrical odor coming from behind the glove compartment. Coincides with the blower motor connector recall. This cannot be resolved soon enough.
Truck will shut off while driving or not start. When driving truck and it begins to shut off, menu will say, "reduced power." then it will say, "stability system immobilized." the truck will not start up. The security icon on the dash will be lit up. After sitting and waiting for 10 mins or so, the truck will start and is able to be driven. This happens while driving on main streets, highways, back roads.. Etc.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. While driving 15 mph, the passenger side (underneath the glove box) caught on fire without warning. The person from the parking lot extinguished the fire. The fire department arrived, but the fire was already extinguished. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (lakeside chevrolet buick, 10215 w main rd, north east, pa 16428; (814) 746-4300) where it was diagnosed that the dashboard, windshield, wire harness, and carpets needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v421000 and 10v179000 (visibility, structure). The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently. All the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to cadillac of naperville (located at 1507 ogden ave, naperville, il 60540, (630) 355-2700) where diagnostic testing was completed, but a failure code could not be found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Consumer stated anti-theft device was malfunctioning.

Also, the contact mentioned that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. . the failure mileage was 126,000 and the current mileage was 136,000. Updated 9/18/14
Question:recall for hvac connector wire failure issued jun.25th,2015.notified by gm of recall in august, 2015.as of this date, gm's stance is "incomplete- remedy not available".how long can gm stall- off this repair, which is considered a fire hazzard? is there a time constraint to repair this problem? what is the time limitation for repair?
On may 29 2010 i went to the store around afternoon and came back from the store i started my hummer 2006 h3 the car started and i look at the indash and no light came on and i drive around the parking lot to see if the in dash light come on and i park the car and turn off my ignition and turn it back on still the same no light on my indash and i was scare to drive it out on the road because i don't see how fast i was running or the car might die out on me when im driving and i was thinking to myself this is very dangerous because this could cause an accident and i was mad i drove home and about 3 or 4 minute later the light came back on when i was driving and i was wonder what could cause this to happen or did my electric wire short circuit and my truck is 4 year old and barely driving it. So could you please investigate on this, because it happen to me it could happen to other hummer h3 owner . So please act now so no one get hurt and to prevent from happening and last month my two door on the passenger side front and back has a squeakynoise everytime i open the front and back passenger it make to much noise and i wonder is this how hummer make there quality truck like this and my truck is only 4 year old and still brand new.
11/02/11 smell of something burning looked under dash blower resistor and plug melted together had replaced on 12/11/11 smelt burning plastic again had same problem blower resistor and plug melted again from what i understand it is a on going problem in this vehiclegm should be responsible in fixing it before there are major fire damage or a death.
The blower on my 2006 hummer h3 stopped working while driving down the highway and we smelled a burnt plastic smell when the blower stopped.the smell eventually went away, but the blower never worked again.i found that this is a huge issue for not just hummer owners, but other gm vehicle owners.the resistor and plastic clip were melted together and when disconnected, fire damage was evident.this resistor for the ac blower is located right under the glove compartment and luckily nothing flammable was close to this when is blew while driving down the highway.i also have pictures of the damage and subsequent danger this issue poses.other posts of people seeing this issue.http://www.hummerforums.com/forum/hummer-h3-17/air-conditioning-problem-grrr-16020/page2/#post264883.
The h3 will not start.dash screen keeps showing the passlock activated and won't turn off.computer thinks the h3 is being stolen.i have tried to reset and no luck.i had this problem about 4 weeks ago and changed the fuel pump.then it happened again last week and now on 28 march 2020.engine is turning over and electrical systems light up, but sounds like fuel is not getting into the fuel pump again.after doing some research, finding others having the same problem.recommended procedure is to wait 10 min, still no luck.waiting 15 min seemed to work before, but now it doesn't.how am i supposed to be safely in the vehicle, drive somewhere and then it stalls again?i am the original owner and haven't had this issue until it started 4 weeks ago.what if this happens while i am driving on the highway and fuel stops going to the pump?this could cause a multi-vehicle accident.
On october 30th i smelled a faint scent of something burning inside my vehicle, but could not find anything. November 1st was our first cold morning so i started my car, and had no heat. The system wasn't blowing, but the heater a/c controls were lit up. Since i am a mechanic, and have knowledge i went right to the fuse box in the engine compartment. The fuses were ok. I then went to the blower resistor pack which is located under the glove box. The orange power wire in the harness was burnt up pretty good, and the terminal molded into the harness pack was also burned up pretty good.i then went online to google this problem to see how common it was, and was surprised to see how many complaints there are about this problem, not just regarding the hummer line, but within gm vehicles itself. I called the service tech where i have my work done, and he was very familiar with this failure.
This is the second time the blower resistor/harness has caught fire [1st time 1/11/12 2nd time 7/3/13] the orange wire going into the harness seems to over heat and melt/catch fire the last time it filled cab with smoke had stop vehicle and exit because of fire -smoke.
Was traveling through a parking lot, noticed a glow from the corner of my eye, and something drip from under the passenger glovebox.there was a funny smell.i immediately stopped, and told my passenger to get out, and noticed a fire under the passenger glovebox.i tried pouring milk and juice on the fire to put it out under the dash but it didn't put the fire completely out.bystanders helped with fire extinguishers but it didn't help much either, the fire moved through the firewall and was under the hood.the car quickly went up in flames and the fire department was called to put out the fire.once the fire started, the doors didn't automatically unlock when i shut off the car.i was not able to get the back doors open since there is no key entry and it's all electronic.if i had children or passengers in the back seat when this happened, i would not have been able to get them out through the back doors - they would not open.the fire started under the passenger side glovebox seemed to be related to the resistor and wiring harness tied to the a/c.this should be a recall, and gm should recoup everyone who has had a total loss related to this incident. I will never buy american car again, this one was a mistake since i purchased it with constant issues and now this at less than 100k miles.unbelievable!gm should be accountable for these incidents.
Passlock anti-theft system is malfunctioning causing the dashboard lights and functions to shut down while driving the vehicle which, is very unsafe at night. It also prevents starting the vehicle randomly until you wait 10 minutes, after it resets.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated the vehicle failed to start. The failure occurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
Very very common problem with gm products and excessive problem with h3 heaters.you smell something burning in your vehicle then your heater fan starts fluctuating and ultimately stops. There are reports that the dealership will fix the burnt plug, but it won't fix the problem, it'll burn up again. Now i have no heater in january in ohio this should be a recall !!!!!!!!!
Vehicle locked up while i was driving - unable to start and had to have towed to dealership.serious electrical problems for the 2nd time.
I have owned this car for 10 years. Its always giving me problems. Especially the electrical and engine. I've gotten 3 notices in the mail for recalls and gm has ignored my request. At this time i am holding them responsible because my hummer h3 is always in and out of the shop and dont feel like ive gotten the value i deserve on my purchase. Please give me call at [xxx]. Imy name is [xxx]. Even though there are no more hummer dealerships and no one specializes in the care of this vehicle, i have taken complete care inside and outside of my investment and hope to get some type of leeway in this matter. Thank you.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*cc
Since vehicle was delivered new, when the key is in the off position in the ignition switch, the key will 'turn itself on' with only the slightest 'bump' of the key or the steering wheel. This is a well known issue with all same vehicle owners. What with all the issues with other vehicle ignition matters this issue should have been noted and corrected years before now. I still own this vehicle.
Fire started in back of my glove box in my hummer h3.
I have replaced the blower motor resistor and wiring harness more than 3 times. Gm has known of this issue since 2009 and has not corrected it. They have no way of keeping my h3 from randomly catching fire and refuse to explore any option other than replacing with same defective part that has already failed. They will not accept responsibility for any damage caused to my property or life do to this. To date 43 h3 have been total loss fires caused by this along with thousands of owners left with no hvac system. My 8 month pregnant wife is now forced to drive my 5 year old son to school in 10 degree weather with no heat in fear that the wiring will catch fire next time the resistor fails. This is unacceptable from a company boasting 8.3 billion dollar sale profits. The blower motor resistor has burned up on heating and cooling and burns out randomly.

Right rear tire tps gives false and intermitten readings, can not turn radio/cd player completely off, drains battery.dealer says system is defective and needs to be relaced at a cost of $1000.00.
I own a 2006 hummer h3. My fan blower quit working. Upon investigation i found the blower motor resistor and the connector to be welded together. I had to replace both items because they were melted together. This has to be a fire hazard and after i googled it to figure out how to fix it i was shocked at the number of people who have had the same problem. I can not believe this has not been a recall issue.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3.the contact stated that the key continued to become stuck in the ignition and the instrument panel constantly illuminated.the failure was recurring for three months.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the ignition switch needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
Description of the complaint:the blower on my 2006 hummer h3 stopped working while driving down the highway burnt plastic smell when the blower stopped.but the blower never worked again. I found that this is a huge issue for not just hummer owners, but other gm vehicle owners. The resistor and plastic clip were melted together this resistor for the ac blower is located right under the glove compartment damage danger this issue poses. Other posts http://www.hummerforums.com/forum. I had to spend 325.00 and see gm has many problems concerning this issue alot on the truck.

Truck will not start for no apparent reason. Key turns, sounds like it will start but does not. This has happened on several occasions and seems to be an ongoing problem for other hummer owners too. I just had it towed once again to the mechanics shop. This is the 5th time within one year. Unable to leave my house during an emergency, child related.

I left my house to pickup my stepson from practice. While driving to the school i began to smell an odor of melting plastic, pulling into my stepson'sschool, i began to smell and see smoke.when i got closer to the parking area, sparks began to fall from underneath the right passenger dash.i immediately parked the car and ran around to the right passenger side and opened the door.i told the kids to move back and placed a coffee cup underneath to catch the flames dripping from under the dashboard which was quickly spreading and burning the carpet.i told my stepson to call the fire dept. I took his phone and got through to collin county. And they switched me to the local fire dept.before the fire dept arrived, my car was engulfed in flames anda total loss.the fire report concurs where the fire began.i have searched online and found that this is a commonreoccurring problem with hummers and there are many reports similar to my experience.as a matter of fact, i have had to replaced that same harness about six months after i purchased the car because we smelled smoke and realized the very same part had burned.many other hummer owners have replaced this part multiple times do to this defective blower motor fan harness.the problem is hummer knows the part is defective and the replacement is also defective.also, that part is a dealer item. This problem needs to fixed with a national public recall before something terrible occurs.when my car caught on fire, i was in front of a school with children around and need i restate i was in the car when the fire began.

Blower motor for hvac stopped working, smelled burning plastic, wiring and resistor burned up. It is located under the dash and is very easy to catch fire, there are many complaints on this with thechevy & gm product. I think this should be a recall it is very dangerous as many items can burn up, gm is of no help with this.
I was traveling to work on a residential street at 5am when i noticed a smell and saw a glow coming from under my dashboard. When i could stop i noticed it was a fire. The fire did put itself out but the fire department was called and they advised me not to driver the vehicle. I did report this to gm and they advised me they could not help me with the repairs and there is currently not a recall.

The ignition switch is staked andis not able to turning on
Pass lock system prohibits truck from starting. Have to wait 10 minutes when it decides to work. This is an ongoing issue. For the amount of money this truck cost this should not be happening consistently.
While driving vehicle locked up and shut down - could not restart and had to have the vehicle towed to the dealer.
Purchased 2006 h3 with 58k on it.at 61k the a/c blower would increase in speed for no reason then go back to its setting.at 62k it stoppedblowing for no reason.online search of h3 a/c blower issues gave me a place to start looking.fuse was ok, checked resistor pack (pn 11221007.011) under dash and found pin "a" melted with sign of recent electrical fire due to shorting out.the orange connector on the harness was also melted.further online research of this issue revealed that it is a "common occurrence".i called dealer and was told "they have never heard of it". I purchased resistor pack, connector, and pins then changed the component myself.works good so far....
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. While driving at approximately 70 mph, there was smoke and an odor coming from the air conditioner. The cruise control failed and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart after a few attempts. The vehicle was driven to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Takata recall.car will not start, after about 10min it will start up.
I have a 2006 hummer h3 and i've had issues with my ignition switch cutting off while i'm driving down the road . There are times that my car will not start do to this. I've had it tested and it's the ignition switch that i'm taking about. Why is this not being recalled!!!!! someone's life can be taken away for something that keeps happening to these hummer h3!!!!!
The vehicle will turn over, battery is fine, but the engine will not start, due to the on-board security system thinking that the vehicle is being stolen.this frequent problem has been reported to the nhtsb numerous times and to gm with no results.gm customer service claims that they have never heard of this problem, but if you google: 2006 hummer3 starting problems, you will see a long list of exactly the same complaints.this situation should warrant a recall and repair at gm's expense.the current remedy is to sit and wait 10 minutes until the security system resets and then the vehicle can be started.this condition occurs without warning and is not covered at all in the owners manual.

I have two 2006 h3 hummers both with the 5 speed manual transmission. Upon acceleration from a stopped position in first gear, depressing the clutch for the shift into2nd gear the engine rpms revs to about 4000 and stays there.shifting into 2nd gear & releasing the clutch the rpms drop back down.accelerating to about 3000-3500 rpms, depressing the clutch, again the rpms climb to around 4000 and stays there.the same thing occurs during up shifts ... This has happened no less than 7 times on one h3 and 5 times on the other h3.the hummer dealer can find no stored codes, and can not duplicate this.gm has beennotified, but nothing has been done to repair this problem because the dealercan not supply defect codes.this has been going on since august '06 with noend in sight.i have asked the ecu be either reflashed or replaced and was toldit was too costly to just put parts in without any codes.i believe the softwarecould be corrupted. And is not aware anything is wrong. Thus there are no codes.
Nuisance - key stuck intermittently in ignition upon turning off.safety problem - key can always be removed with transmission in any gear position.
Last week i was driving locally home when my h3 cab filled with smoke blocking my vision and the a/c blower stopped...i nearly drove into a tree...if i had been on the highway at speed, i would be dead.i took the car to a local shop, as close as i could get...anyway my dealer was shut down as gm went into bankruptcy.the mechanic found that a wiring harness connector burned out, creating the smoke and cutting the blower off (see photos).i reported this to gm, asking them for refund of costs and to investigate this serious safety matter.they refused because i am out of warranty! i believe they are covering up a serious manufacturing flaw...when the mechanic phoned gm for the wiring harness section involved, they had it in stock ready to go...evidently, gm knows of this flaw. If this problem is not taken seriously, someone will be killed by it! updated 08/20/09.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. While driving at approximately 55 mph, the contact smelled a burning odor under the dashboard by the heater. In addition, the vehicle stalled and had trouble restarting. This was a recurring failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the plug to the heater was burned and the battery needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

I go to stop traction control stabilizer goes out, i also have been having to buy new batteries and carry a jump box the car ignition doesn't go off all the way. You will come back to the car with the radio playing, drivers window stopped working, etc
Electrical problems, either the vehicle wil no start due to the anti-theft system or i will lose all power when driving.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3.
Own hummer h3 2006. Randomly, two lights will show up: traction and transfer case lights. 6 lines of error code: traction, failure, reduced, power, stab sys, service. When this happens, the car can be driven only around 40 mile per hour which is very dangerous on free way. It only happens randomly. Usually after rain. But the dealership said they cannot reproduce the problem. Called gm, they told me they cannot do anything although they say there is an investigation and there might be future recall.
When i crank my hummer h3 up on cold mornings it dont start, sometimes it starts and then cuts off on warm days no problem.is there a recall on this product it seems that there are many complaints on this issue.
The check engine came on and i took it to my dealership to have it checked out.they performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the engine head cylinder (engine missfire). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and denied assistance with the repair because the vehicle warranty was expired. The mechanic stated it was due to an inferior soft metal used to manufacture the heads which caused a loss of combustion when the engine was idling. The blowback at idle was what was causing the engine light to illuminate. Mechanic also stated this problem was a recurring problem in this 5cyl engine which is the same engine that is in the colorado pickups and is covered under a gm recall in the pickups but not the hummer. The mechanic stated that the issue will only get worst. Please help as i was given a price to repair of approx. $3183 if i was going to pay for the repairs myself at the dealership. What can a person do when this is a known mfg defect, many complaints about this issue with no recourse.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerated independently and stalled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 85,000.
Learned that our vehicle was known to gm in 2008 that they had a design defect that caused pistons to fail. The check engine light came on, we went to gm dealership, called their corporate offices after learning the knew of the piston defect since at least 2008.i'm sure they have replaced millions of pistons during warranty but the cost of replacement is $5000.we leased this vehicle for 3 years and are purchasing it. Gm refused to assist us in fixing this issue.they are dishonest and unprofessional.how many vehicles in the us have piston failures as a design defect? they should have issued a recall.

Owner the car since 2006 with no problems--regularly maintained, 125,000 miles. After a recent long trip my wife took it to the shop where she was told the engine had "low compression." the shop was trusted 100% andbeen used for decades. Service manager said they would see what they could do about the low compression and that they would have to check each of the pistons.after the review, the manager said he had bad news, that the car needed to be traded in/sold immediately and not to drive it until it was. I verified the results with 2 other mechanics that the 5 cylinder h3s lose compression out the blue--common among 5 cylinder h3s.the shop manager basically told me that i need to sell/trade in the vehicle, but not to drive it until i had done so,apparently this issue has happened to 06 h3s religiously where the compression diminishes and leads to the engine dying. . it's a possible to buy a used engine with the possibility that the compression could die again.needless to say, we feel like we've been punched in the gut by hummer.how can a car perfectly maintained all of a sudden have "low compression" and lead 3 professionals to advise us to sell it l it as soon as possible?this had to have been known by hummer and they did nothing about it.meantime, we are probably over/under on the vehicle and will have to get rid of it.
I have owned my 2006 hummer h3 for the past 8 years and about 5 months ago it began not wanting to start.not wanting to start no matter what i do and then starting like nothing was ever wrong after 10 minutes. I'm tired of this happening! my h3 just turned 50k miles and i live in florida where the weather is warm... This is definitely a safety issue.as a retired florida police officer i know this to be true...this is a safety issue!you should be able to get inside your vehicle and start it up and leave at your convenience and not when your vehicle decides to...there are so many complaints about this same problem with hummer h3's i don't understand how there hasn't been a recall on this issue...go to cargurus.com and read some for yourselves... Having to worry about my wife being stuck somewhere alone because the vehicle will not start is extremely frustrating...i pray nothing happens to her...this issue needs to be addressed.really hope to get this problem fixed...thanks in advance...
I purchased a 2006 hummer h3 with only 100k, after performing a complete service i was made aware thecylinder heads are "defective" the vehicle was driven for 5 monthe then the check engine light came on.. A code scanner indictacted a #2 cylinder misfire replaced spark plug, coil pacack and injector no luck i was informed cylinder head need to be replaced,at what cost does the nhtsa realize that this was a major manufacturing defects, yes gm replaced cylinder heads under warranty but with the same defective heds as to pass on the cost to the consumer as soon as the warranty expire to get their warranty money back., there has been numerous complaints and yet nthsa refuses to inform gm of the "defect" it seams all the ntsha cares about is electrical concerns on vehicles, so who make the determination the a poor designed cylinder head should be the consumers problem. This is where an individual should be held accountable, it took a threat from the nhtsa for gm to issue a recall on the hvac connector to get resolved., if the nhtsa cannot understand mechanical defects should there be a recall when more than 500 complaints are achieved. So now i am out of pocket $2800.00 thanks to aadministration that has no clue on mechanical issues. You should hire an individual who has mechanical degree to hold car companies responsible for poor mechanical issuesso will i receive a response to this issue as we all know gm has informed dealers to give customers excuses as to why they are not liable, my conclusions indicate that the nhtsa only acts on air bags brake switches and electrical issues nothing mechanical.....
The vehicle was purchased used on a saturday with the dealership not advising us there were any issues. The next day we headed to the lake and 20 minutes later we were sitting on the side of the road. The vehicle was idling very hard with rpm going crazy. Now over a year and several visits to the shop later we are still experiencing the same issue. When the vehicle is initially turned on it will not move. It has to sit for about 3 minutes with the engine light flashing. If you try to push thr gas nothing happens. The vehicle idles very hard. It is only firing on 4 cylinders and the dealership says that gm is aware of the issue. They said it is a "bad batch" and will just have to keep replacing the head to fix the problem. This is not fair to the consumer and needs to be addressed by gm.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that the instrument panel displayed a warning message that read 'reduced power service stabilizer system tracking failed' and the vehicle failed to accelerate beyond 40 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was repaired. The failure continued. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were unable to further diagnose the failure. The failure and current mileages were 70,000.

We feel like we've been punched in the gut by hummer. How can a car perfectly maintained all of a sudden have "low compression" and lead 3 professionals to advise us to sell itit as soon as possible? this has been known by hummer(pip3935d) and they did nothing about it.we called gm and they wanted to look at the engine to diagnose it themselves. Pistons 2 and 3 were bad.our vin number is covered by the pip3935d but the dealership refused to acknowledge this. They refused to assist us unless we paid $6000 for the "repair"--but this issue will re-occur. I have made a call to gm corporate but have yet to receive a reply. In the meantime we still owe over $4000 on this vehicle that we leased in 2006, then purchased.our vehicle is unsellable and we don't have $6000 to fix this known hummer 2006 h3 defect. Gm has been aware of the defect since 2008 and refuses to act like professional, understanding, compassionate individuals. I will never purchase or recommend the purchase of a gm again based on this life-changing experience.how can a dealership (that the us government bailed out of bankruptcy) treat its customers this way?we have spent $30,000++ since leasing/purchasing it in 2006.
The check engine light went on and off. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who diagnostic as cylinder #1 misfire. Compression test failed due to cylinder leakage. The main problem was to at the time of manufacturing the engine soft metals were used with the heads. I was told i need to replace cylinder head and related parts. Contacted gm hummer division informed them of my problem with my 3.5l, 5 cylinder engine and ask them for assistance since they did a special extended warranty for the 2006 colorado and canyons with the same engine problems. They refused to help.
There are many forums about cylinder misfires - especially after the warranty runs out.i looked it up and was shocked to see how many other people have had the same issue and nothing has been done about it.every hummer owner i know has paid thousands of dollars to get their problems fixed.why is there not a recall when so many have the same problem??the idle is rough.the engine sputters.the light goes on and off constantly.
Own hummer h3 2006. Randomly, traction, failure, reduced, power, stab sys, service. When this happens, the car can be driven only around 40 mile per hour which is very dangerous on free way. It only happens randomly. Usually after rain or cold weather. But the dealership said they cannot reproduce the problem. Called gm, they told me they cannot do anything although they say there is an investigation and there might be future recall.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. While driving at an unknown speed, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v421000 (visibility). The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Came out of work to find a puddle of coolant on the ground. Radiator plastic cracked. Fluid is on fan and throughout engine compartment. Searched on google and found this is a known issue. Gm dealer and customer service acknowledged this is a common issue, however would do nothing about it.
P0305 cel code came on and took it to a mechanic. They diagnosed the issue and did a compression test which produced results of cylinder 5 having 70 psi and the other cylinders were normal. Determine that the valves seats are bad and it is a common issue on the hummer h3. Total cost for repairs was projected to be $9,000 for all parts and labor.
More and more frequently when the ignition key is turned to start the engine, the security system activates and disables the engine and prevents it from starting for 10 minutes. There is no possible override so regardless of where you are (on the freeway, on a rr crossing, at a traffic light, or wherever, the engine will spin but will not crank. You are put in the situation of having to physically push the vehicle out of danger or let it sit until the security system resets to attempt to start it. This has also occurred on my 2005 chevy colrado pickup which is equipped with an identical drive train as my h3 hummer. This has happened multiple times, more than 25.
P0300 code.engine misfire.the hummer forums i've researched say it's a common problem in these cars, manufactured before march 31, 2006.it seems the engine heads do not have properly hardened valve seats.again, i'm finding this is a common problem and gm is fully aware of it.

The service technician diagnosed a cracked radiator, which is a know hummer h3 issue.they have asked for $850+ to fix what is a known design flaw.http://www.hummerforums.com/forum/hummer-h3-17/read-if-your-h3-radiator-has-cracked-leaked-21184/.
Rough idle, engine light appears. In past have been told have been told gas cap related or poss thermostat or intermit misfire.today dealership says cylinder #2 not working.need to replace. At a cost of $3000+.related to l52 engine concerns & intake valve seats.including colorado & canyons.why are some recalled, and/or fixed on manufacturer's dime, but not others? gm knew of concern, (thus changed to llr engine). Mine fits the year and well below the vin #. Why should 287591 h3 owners have to pay for gm's mistake?
I purchased the vehicle with approximately 900 miles on it. At approximately 40,000 miles, i had to have the cylinder head replaced. I was told at the dealership that the head contained a known defect. At 80,000 miles, the cylinder head had to be replaced again, as the dealership installed a second defective head when they performed the first repair. At 127,000 miles, the cylinder head has failed again, as apparently the dealership installed a defective head when they performed the second replacement.
I went in to dealer for what i called a fluttering periodic idle. They took a look $200.00 later told me i had misfire in #2 and #5 and needed new head.you can imagine my comments and he said it is common he just did one last week on the same year and type h3!welli was in touch with gm - the car is out of warranty but low mileage.they did cover a portion and i was responsible for the rest.well i pick up week later.was told it was test driven and runs great.i told them it ran great before just the fluttering idle when i stopped at a light.they said you are all set..many bad words escaped my mouth when i drove home and it was not fixed. The vehicle still drove the same way it did before and the flutter was still there,.so now i have to bring it back again and i made the tech get in the vehicle so he knew what i was talking about and he said well it was brought in for a misfire.uhhh no it was not.why has gm not done any type of recall on this if it is known problem. Feel like they don't care since the vehicle is not made anymore what does it matter to them.i could continue but am limited to characters.
While driving at 45mph all systems shut off. No power steering nothing. The car would not restart. This happened multiple times with out warning.
First of all, the date of the incident is very vague considering it's been happening most of the life span of the vehicle. Ever since the vehicle reached 30,000 miles the check engine light has been going on and off periodically. Now there is around 85,000 miles and i can honestly say the check engine light has been on for most of the life of the car. The code is always p0300. This is due to a random misfire in the cylinder heads. I have had this car long enough to say this typically happens during idle. This car has always had a rough idle. I would say ten percent of the time it's a smooth idle. I always use good gas, clean oil and up to date maintenance on this vehicle and i never stress the engine due to it's feeling of it being so fragile. Going online i am astonished to find so many with the same exact problem. Gm had the same recall on the inline 5 cylinder canyon cylinder heads. This is the same problem we are having with our inline 5 cylinder engine heads. Gm needs to put this on recall. Fix their mistake and keep this check engine light from going on every time i park my car, start my car or simply idle. Many would be grateful if this was recalled.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. While driving at 65 mph, the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The contact was informed that there was a misfire in cylinder number four. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 133,338.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle shut down, locked up, and did not restart. The check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle restarted later and was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to another dealer where the following codes were run for the check engine warning: c0240, p0106, p0601. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
When i start vehicle smoke blows out the exhaust for 30-90 seconds then it is gone.sitting still and only does it when it starts up.googled this and others have had this issue.head gasket leaking into valves.this is a headache for tons of hummer owners, so why haven't they issued a recall?started last year, possibly in 2015 and i've just kept an eye on the oil and keep refilling as needed.
Approximately at 150,000 miles, while making a delivery at the county disposal facility, while moving slowly and parking at each station, the engine started cutting off and idling very poorly, slightly knocking. I made it home checked the oil' which read low, so i changed the oil, over 5 quarts removed, it only requires 6 qts max, and i replaced it with 5 quarts of full synthetic, with bg cleaners. Initially it started, idled, and ran better but after 30 minutes the engine knocks resumed. The next day i took it to my mechanic, he assessed and diagnosed it, concluding that the engine was bad and needed replacing. I had it that confirmed with another mechanic. Went on the hummer forum blogs and read many similar complaints about the engine and pistons warping or dying between 75k-150k. Most blaming gm for putting in defective pistons or and undersized engine 3.5l in a heavy all 4 wheel drive vehicle? not sure where to go from here, a used or refurbished engine is $2500-$3500, with installation another$3000-$3500? i'm not sure if it's worth the steep investment?
Truck will not start for no apparent reason. Key turns, sounds like it will start but does not. This has happened on several occasions and seems to be an ongoing problem for other hummer owners too. I just had it towed once again to the mechanics shop. This is the 5th time within one year. Unable to leave my house during an emergency, child related.
Blower motor quit working. Took to dealer said needed motor wiring harness and resitor.they said the wiring harness caught fire and fused together. Cost of 300.00 to fix. Fire hazard.
On several occasions the engine has loss power in traffic and slows down to 15 miles an hour. Once on the highway causing other cars to swerve to avoid rear ending us. Another in rural traffic causing other cars to go around. We are always leary when driving this vehicle. Our mechanic has looked it over on both occasions and can not find anything wrong and we have the best mechanic in town. Gm should pay a little now and recall this vehicle and fix what's wrong instead of a lot later when someone's family is killed. I bought this car for my wife to transport our grandchildren to school and after school events every time she gets in that thing i worry but because i bought it for her she is reluctant to sell. Gm please fix.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated the engine coolant was leaking front the front of the engine. The contact examined the vehicle but was not sure if the leak was coming from the head gasket or engine block. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The failure and current mileages were 80,000.
Engine light came on during emission testing, which caused the vehicle to fail. Just had the thermostat and evaporator valve replaced the week before. The emissions department stated that it was a code p0300, misfire in cylinder 1. I took the vehicle for diagnostics and after a coil test and compression test (failed), they stated that is was a cylinder valve leakage. They also stated that there was a bulletin out on 2006 h3 for this issue. When i contacted gm customer service, i was told that the vehicle's vin was not a part of this bulletin and that the mileage was past the warranty. The only thing they could suggest to me is to take it to a gm certified repair facility and i would have to pay for the complete repair myself.
Dt*: the contact stated the engine was misfiring causing the vehicle to lose power while driving at any speed.after losing power, the engine ran rough at the decelerated speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealership four times for this issue.the first time the dealership corrected circuit #239.the second time there was a lose terminal.the third time the #1 cylinder coil was replaced and the fourth time there was a lose wire.the vehicle is running on only four cylinders.the problem recurred again shortly after picking the vehicle up from the dealership.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving 40 mph on city streets, the vehicle ran and idled rough.the vehicle was eventually driven to the dealer who determined the cylinder head and valves needed to be replaced.
My vehicle has a cracked radiator and according to other hummer owners this is a common defect that happens to these vehicles.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact was pulling away from a traffic light when the engine began to exhibit a low power response. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where a diagnostic test was performed; the technician was unable to detect a trouble code and informed that the problem was a manufacturer design which was a common issue. The vehicle was taken to two different independent mechanics for diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. He stated that the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic test was performed producing codes p0300 pertaining to a misfire at idle due to a leaking intake valve. He also stated that the vehicle needed a new cylinder. There were no recalls and the manufacturer would not assume any liability for the failures. The warranty was no longer valid. No repairs were made to date. The current and failure mileages were under 54,492.
Purchased a 2006 hummer h3 from the seller in this complaint. I paid exactly $23,250 all cash for this vehicle. He actually drove the vehicle to new jersey from mass. To my residence. The vehicle appeared to be in excellent condition, as it only had 14k miles when i bought itonly 3-month's ago. One would hardly think of "hidden" issues at that mileage. In any event, i have had repairs to the rear and front differential, as it had a leak and the front end was out of alignment. The most disturbing thing was this seller lied to me and misrepresented the "true" or actual condition of the vehicle. Unfortunately which would surface after he left with my $23,250 in cash! i would e-mail the seller and told him he misrepresented himself and the condition of the vehicle and how he apparently abused it. More importantly, i discovered "excessive" rust underneath this vehicle. Because these conditions were not divulged to me by mr. Johnson, i am having a hard time selling the vehicle that practically cleaned out all of my savings. He claimed this truck was garaged kept and that he did no off road riding. This apparently is totally untrue, as the car would not have as much rust as it is loaded with for a 2006! so, can you tell me what recourse, i may have as a the buyer, besides hiring a private attorney who i can't afford, as i am on permanent disability. There must i something my i can pursue under any state or federal consumer laws, especially, since the vehicle is still under warranty by general motors.. I should also add that i am having difficulty with a local hummer dealer "royal hummer" in florham park, who seemed reluctant to address the many issues i am having with this hummer! i would also appreciate if you can forward this complaint to general motors corporation, in michigan, as they should know i am having difficulty with dealers wanting to honor,as they should, any warranty work! i am prepared to file every complaint i could to get restitution for this apparent.
I have a 2006 hummer h3 with a little over 15,000 miles on it. There is an issue of "bad cylinder heads" in these 3.5l i5 engines and gm has not stepped up to the plate for a recall. Another cylinder head has been ordered for my vehicle and will be fixed under warranty. What happens when my warranty runs out a year from now. I am not crazy about a dealer tearing down my engine at this point. It has not been broken in yet. I think the whole engine should be replaced. I feel gm knew of this all along and built these suv's anyway with the hopes that the motors will last until the warranty has expired.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that when the vehicle was set in first gear and parked on an incline, the vehicle abnormally roll backward. The contact spoke with the dealer and they advised using the emergency parking brake because the engine would not have sufficient compression to hold the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure should be explained in the owners manual so that the failure would not occur. The failure and current mileage was 33,700.
Loss of power, was able to drive to the local gm dealer.mechanic stated it was due to a valve seat coming loose in the head.mechanic also stated this problem was a recurring problem in this 5cyl engine.the same engine that is in the colorado pickups and is covered under warranty in the pickups but not the hummer.
Defective cylinder head from gmc - they know about this problem but won't assist with cost to repair, my h3 at 50,000 miles now has cracked cylinder head for no apparent reason and of course since my warranty is no longer in effect i have no recourse.is there nothing that can be done about this?
The check engine light goes off and on intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the engine head cylinder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and denied assistance with the repair because the vehicle warranty was expired.the mechanic stated it was due to an inferior soft metal used to manufacture the heads which caused a loss of combustion when the engine was idling. $4000 if i was going to pay for the repairs myself at the dealership.
While driving received check enginecode for #5 cylinder misfire. Took it straight into the local gm dealer who informed me the head was already replaced at 16k miles and now another head is needed. Gm is not willing to cover any cost as the 2006 does not have a power train warranty included. So contacted hummer customer care line and still waiting on word what will be done.
2006 hummer h3.consumer writes in regards to repairs to vehicle radiator overheating problems and seeks reimbursement for recall notice 15042.the consumer stated the radiator, thermostat and water pump, were replaced on more than one occasion.
Radiator rubs in the middle on the frame causing stress to the top, crackling cracks . .causing leakage!!
A rough idle, chugging / running concern may be encountered with a p0014dtc.possible clogged fuel injectors.
I recently purchased a 2006 h3. From the day i bought the car i have noticed a weird idle when the vehicle is warming up. Until recently i thought it was the way the vehicle ran normally. I decided to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic. After being inspected the mechanic noticed the vehicle's valves were not seeded right from the factory, which has caused the misfire, which causes the weird idle. I now am in the process of contacting hummer to see if there is a solution to the problem. The vehicle has only 61870 miles on it and i don't feel this should have happened this soon in the vehicles life. Service bulletins have been warranted and i would like to find a reasonable solution to the problem.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that the check engine light remained illuminated and the engine would exhibit a loud noise when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the engine head cylinder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and denied assistance with the repair because the vehicle warranty was expired. The failure mileage was 69,000 and the current mileage was 71,000.
The oil has been changed but i will drive it 10 to 15 miles and stop. The oil light and the dinger come on. I reset the button and then come to the next stop and the light comes on and the dinger goes off. The only way it stops is shutting off vehicle and let it set overnight. I check the oil when it does this and the dip stick is fine. Is this an oil sensor problem and is this under warranty or a recall?
I own a hummer h3 the other day the aircondition stop working i look at the heater blower the links to the air conditioner the wires and resistor were frayed and extreme hot. I had to un hook it so it won't start a fire. I am not the only person with this complaint and i read other peoples story's there should be a recall, i was told to replace itcould cause a fire.

2006 h3 hummer cutting off when idling, was diagnosed with same head valve seat problem as recalled colorado atlas engine, same engine the h3 engine should be covered.
2006 hummer h3 47000 miles only 2 months out of warranty. Check engine light came on, noticed rough idle.dealer says must replace head due to misfire and trouble with cylinder 5. Dealer recognized common problem with this engine, but refused to do anything but discount the repair from 3200 plus tax down to 2800.this appears to be same engine problem as was covered for the colorado, but gm refuses to help with h3!

1.during normal driving and idleing i started seeing / hearing the engine misfire and illumination of the service engine soon (ses)i would experience abrupt loss of power or surging or idle roughness.after research and dealer diagnosis we found the early hummer h3 has the same atlas l52 i-5 engine as the 04-05 chevrolet colorado.the 04-05 cheverolet colorado atlas l52 i-5 engine was given a special coverage for soft engine intake valve seats, extended the warranty to 7 years and 100,000 miles under tsb 07123 nhtsa # 10022722.to fix the problem the head is replaced with one with harder valve seats.the 2006 hummer h3 should also be covered by this bulletin. Gm has refused to cover my h3 with this problem even though it has the same engine simply because nhtsa # 10022722 does not specifically say hummer h3. My gm case # 71-805764673.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3.while idling at a stop light, the accelerator pedal automatically extended to the floor and the vehicle sped forward.the contact had to depress the brake pedal with both feet to prevent crashing into the preceding vehicle.the vehicle then went into limp mode and would not exceed 20 mph.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they replaced the throttle body assembly.the dealer stated that this was a common failure with these vehicles caused by a manufacturer defect.general motors acknowledged the failure and stated that they were replacing the unit with a different part that they believed would eliminate the failure.the replacement would be at the contact's expense.the manufacturer stated that they have not considered issuing a recall because they are repairing the defect as it occurs.the failure and current mileages were 20,800.
Called by customer complaint of rough idle and misfire.vehicle is a 2006 hummer h3 with the l52 i-5 cylinder engine.mileage is 77675diagnosis revealed cylinder #5 was bad.further testing revealed water in the oil.final diagnosis blown head gasket.this is a recurring problem with this engine and vehicle.dealer refused to repair though it is the same engine gm issued a technical bulletin calling for changing heads on the colorado.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph the check engine light started to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who performed a diagnostic test and stated that the engine misfired and had an excessiveleak in it. The emission coil was repaired but the problem continued to occur. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 45,014.
Dt*: the contact stated while idling at an intersection, the check engine light illuminated and on star was called.there was an advisory to drive the vehicle slowly to the nearest dealer.diagnostic testing was performed and they determined a cylinder was leaking and the head and valve needed to be replaced.12,000 miles after the first repair, the identical scenario recurred.when the vehicle was taken to the dealer, they determined the diagnostic code was the same as the previous visit.another cylinder was leaking and it needed a head and valve job again.the service manager expressed the reason for the recurrence was due to the design of the head which was installed when the vehicle was manufactured and during the replacement.the manufacturer was contacted, and determined that there was now a new part for replacement.the contact was concerned that the original part and the new part had the same part number.
I purchased my 2006 hummer h3 in february 2006.after driving it for approximately 5k miles, the check engine light came on and the vehicle felt like it was losing power.i immediately took it to the hummer/gm dealer.i was told that the engine cylinder heads needed to be replaced and that there was a problem in the manufacturing process.i was in shock that i had that problem with a new vehicle and i requested that i get a new replacement vehicle because i did not want the "lemon" they sold me with a defective engine.i was assured i had nothing to worry about and that the vehicle would be repaired (under warranty of course) and i would not have the problem again.in november 2010, months after my warranty had expired, my vehicle had the same problem. In fact, it is at the dealer now and i still do not know how much it will cost me to repair it.the only reason it may be repaired at no cost to me is because i paid $2650 for an extended warranty from an outside company (which expires soon).however, my extended warranty company still needs to determine if it will cover the repairs. I did my research and found that many (too many) 2006 h3s have had the same problem with the engine and it is a manufacturing problem that gm is very aware of.however, despite numerous complaints, gm refuses to take care of the problem or issue any bulletin.this is a huge safety issue.if the engine misfires and my vehicle breaks down, it can easily cause an accident and/or rollover, and very well cost me my life and the lives of others.gm needs to recall these vehicles and issue a safety bulletin, and replace all affected vehicles.
H3 |drainage problem i paid to have it fixed a year ago and it is blockedup again. My wife had the same problem with her h3. I have had cars and trucks and have never had this problem before with there sun roofs. I know i'm not the only one out here that's had the same problem . When at the dealership one of the shop mechanics said the design was a poor construction and design.the company should be doing something about there design and fix it or have a program to keep them from flooding . It could lead to electrical problems . Do to the water running down over the lower panels. I'm not happy paying to have it fixed again. This is just a bad design on gm part.

I have a 2006 hummer h3, every 2 or 3 days the motor will turn over ,but will not start. I let it sit for 5 minutes and it will start right up. I've taken it into the dealer twice for this problem and they can't find anything wrong with it.
I bought this h3 hummer used and it ran good until last year. It would not start at different times but after you waited 10 minutes, it would start.we just paid 1300.00 to have the fuel pump replaced last week. Now it won't start again. I have seen many complaints on this and there should be a recall on this problem.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that the seat belt warning light was illuminated for twelve months.
The side trimming near the roof racks are cracked, the gaskets near the rear of the roof racks are coming apart, and the trimming on both sides of the vehicle near the windshield are coming off and faded.the best way for me to describe what is going on with my vehicle is by presenting some forums that i read about..............http://www.gmhummer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=796http://www.hummerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16421http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20479http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0e3b5aapparently, i am no the only one who is having issues with this.not only is this issue costly, but situations like this should not be of the customers fault when the vehicle has been taken care of as it should.especially if it is only 4 years old.molding should not come off a vehicle in this manner as it could eventually come off and damage someone else's property as debris while driving.

Nuisance - key stuck intermittently in ignition upon turning off.safety problem - key can always be removed with transmission in any gear position.

I have a 2006 hummer h3 with app. 79,000 miles on it.. I was driving to work on the highway and halfway there, i started to get a really bad vibration and loud humming noise coming from the driveline. It starts at about 40 mph and comes and goes every few seconds. Its worse when i hit the gas pedal.. The universal joints have already been replaced due to cracked universal joints for some odd reason.. The top end of the engine had just been rebuilt 2 weeks ago as well due to sticking exhaust valves. This truck is babied and has never been off- road. Mainly highway miles only.. I just had it aligned. All the fluid levels are correct. All the driveshafts are tight and nothing seems to be loose.. No modifications have been done to it.. Very unsafe to drive because something could lock up and make you lose control of vehicle.. This will be the 6th time i've had it in the shop for problems...

The inside chrome wheels of my wife's 2006 hummer h3 are flaking off and peeling.pieces of the debris come loose at all times (especially while the car is in motion).my biggest concern is that it will interfere with the brake pads when they are needed to slow/stop the vehicle.since my wife and children are in this car more frequently, i do not want this to become an incident that could lead to an avoidable accident.i have pictures that detail my concern with the inside of the chrome wheels that i could send to you (should you need them).
I drive a 2006 hummer h3.in sept. 08, i was traveling about 40 mph down a road when all of the sudden my h3 locked up, slid sideways, and almost flipped.i did not flip, and was able to get to a side street safely.the control panel read abs traction control failure.i had the h3 towed to the hummer dealership in georgetown texas.they said they had never heard of this type of problem before, but would check it out.after 2 days without my truck, they told me it was a sensor that failed and they replaced it.then in october 08, the same thing happened again.traveling around 50 mph i feltit start so i let off the gas, and it froze up and almost flipped again.same error code on the control panel.i drove 25mph on a freewayto get it to the dealership in georgetown.they told me this time, it was a different sensor.so i had to pay for a rental car, while they fixed the other sensor.i kept asking them to test all sensors so this does not happen again.plus, shouldn't a car have some type of warning system before almost flipping?they said it was fixed.nov. 08, we brought the car in for noises and asked them to check the brakes and the abs system.they said the abs was fine.this morning, i was driving home from the gym, and the car froze on my again, almost flipping.same error code.the service reps. And managers do not have answers for me.they say i can bring it in again to get it fixed, but to me the problem has not been fixed yet.i am in fear for my life, my loved ones life, and my clients lives.this is a serious safety problem.i wish i could sell the car, but i don't feel right doing that, in fear that it may flip on the new owner.i want hummer to buy the car back.i do not feel safe.concerned consumer, daniel demitri

There was a left rear wheel speed sensor that failed.the sensor sent data to the computer that the wheel was spinning when it wasn't.with no warning, the computer applied the brakes abruptly and firmly.we were in city traffic and speed was slow.my only safety concern at this time was that we would be rear-ended as we probably had no brake light operation as the brake pedal was not used.after this happened numerous times in 3-5 minutes, we then got dash error codes and lights that the abs and traction control systems had failed.the problem then went away as i assume the computer turned off these systems since they had failed.we had previously been towing a small u-haul trailer and could only imagine what might have happened if this occurred at interstate highway speeds with a trailer in tow, and even more scary if the road would also have been wet.when we got to the dealer for repair, the warnings had reset, and i assume the systems were active again.luckily an error code was stored.the problem was fixed under warranty and the service received was satisfactory, but i think there is a design flaw in a system that would allow the computer to apply the brakes with no warning and for no apparent reason.at that time, there is nothing i as a driver could do concerning the brakes.it seems there should be a redundant system where there must be two feedbacks that agree before the system applies the brakes, and if the two feedbacks do not agree then the system is disabled and an error message is given.this certainly seems to me to be a major safety flaw.the bad part was fixed, but i am not sure i trust the safety of the vehicle.there was only one failure.no damage was done.however, under different highway conditions the situation could have been deadly.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet hhr.while driving 15 mph, the vehicle would not decelerate when the brake pedal was depressed.the contact veered off the road and into a ditch, which stopped the vehicle.there were no warning indicators prior to the failure, but after the failure occurred, the brake warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel.the failure recurred in january of 2008.she took the vehicle to the dealer after each occurrence and assumed that the vehicle had been repaired.the contact is very concerned about her safety.the current mileage was 55,000 and the failure mileage was unavailable.

Complete brake failure,no warnings, no lights on dash. Car under warranty, only 9000 miles.car dealership cannot find any problems, did no repairs.advised us to wait until the problem repeats itself.was able to keep car under control and managed to get it stopped.however, this happened in a rural area with little traffic.do not feel safe driving until the problem repeats itself!

I nearly hit another vehicle that pulled out in front of me today. The brake pedal is too close to the accelerator pedal on my 2006 hummer h3. In an emergency situation, my shoe hangs up on the backside of the brake pedal and i have to turn my foot sideways to get it out from under the pedal. This is a very dangerous and annoying problem that i am afraid of. I can't fix this problem myself as the designis the cause of the problem.
In a test drive i find that the hummer h3 has the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal too close, the shoes lips get stuck in the back of the brake pedal when i try to brake in emergency situation. This may cause future accidents. I contacted gm and they replay that there is no plan to fix this defect. I had a work boot on at the time of the test.

There was no,accident,i trade my 09 mustang in to walters mazda, mitsubishi,in pikeville ky,i did notice a strange noise in the tires,so i took it to have the tires rotated, and the noise got louder,so i took it to a garage to be checked, the mechanic told me my ball joints on the driver side was ready to fall out,i bought the vehicle as is,but i called the car lot and asked for a little help ,since my 09 mustang was in perfect shape running and mechanical wise.and they wont help me,my wheel could have fell off and caused me to wreck,or get killed..i don't think the car fax is correct, there was no paper in the vehicle saying buy as is.i have only had it a few wks.the owner said all he had to do to the mustang was put front brakes well that only cost 20,dollars,iam will be out 500.i was told do not drive until i get this fixed..i was sold a very unsafe vehicle, and done very dirty.please help me.
The hood cover is loose and rattles when driving.it makes me afraid as i drive the interstate everyday and it seems as if it is going to fly off.i also lose power or it fails to start due to some type of electrical issue, brakes go, steering goes and all lights on cluster light up
2006 hummer h3 will not accelerate after releasing brake.after taking a hard left turn into a parking space, the truck stopped dead in place and would not accelerate further unless i press the gas pedal down. If i where driving at fast speeds i would have probably flipped it over, and died.
The contact owns 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the rear lift spring failed and caused the drive shaft to also fail. Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle's steering locked when either going through hard left or right turns.the wheels did not come back to center, and the vehicle went into a ditch.the service dealer determined the steering issue was a basic feature for the steering of the vehicle.
Mine sounds like the same problem as stated by "consumer complaint: odi case number: 10169754."however, when i took my h3 in, all they did was blame it on me stating i had someone else align my brand new car, and to resolve the issue, they just realigned the vehicle to center the steering wheel.i did ask how the alignment of each wheel was, and they said it was in the 'green' before they realigned, so that tells me it isn't something that i hit in the road to knock it off center, but rather something inside the car malfunctioned.this sounds like something that should be addressed if there multiple instances of the same case, it sounds like one person's dealer actually replaced a failed part, where mine did not for the same issue.to this day i still hear clumking sounds when i steer the car, i hope this isn't leading to a complete failure and a deadly crash for something that i had already reported and attempted to have fix.
Must replace both tie rod ends, hummer has never been off road!!! this is ridiculous, apparently it has something to do with the weight of the hummer, if that be the case, then why didn't they make these parts heavy duty enough to support that weight? they need to do a recall and reimburse all the people who filed a complaint because of this and ball joints wearing out before 50,000 miles!! this is going to cost me nearly $500.00! my husband had a 2001 yukon, with 300,000 miles and never had this problem!
The first week i owned this new h-3 my steering went out and the steering wheel was clearly tilted.i had to drive with the steering wheel very crooked to go down the road straight.i have taken the vehicle in 4 times regarding this since they attempt to fix it but then a clunk is heard and it goes out of alignment again.they replaced some sort of part in the steering column but this did not correct the problem since it happened again.now a factory rep. Has decided it could be the power steering and they are going to replace the entire power steering.i am extremely worried that this a safety issue and an accident is inevitable.i would like to report this since i feel that this should be looked into.
The contact leased a 2006 hummer h3.while turning into a driveway at approximately 15 mph, the front driver's side tie rod failed and punctured the tire.the frame was damaged and the vehicle struck a telephone pole.a police report was filed.the frame had to be replaced.the contact sustained mid back, lower neck, wrist, and knee injuries.the vehicle was returned to gm.the current and failure mileages were 44,000. I have owned this truck since 2009, and it seems to be a common problem with the sunroof drain tubes clogging.when my vehicle was under warranty, and was going in for it's scheduled pmis i would have them blow the drain tubes out with air, but the clogging is now becoming more frequent, and the water if not removed can cause havoc with the cloth, electrical & flooring.last week i had a mildew smell because of all the rain we have had, and the water built up in the sunroof drain area.these tubes are a design flaw, and this should also be a recall, as the water will be the main cause for problems in this situation.
My sunroof has been leaking, on the passenger side it chimes out behind & below the glove box. On the driver's side it leaks directly from the sunroof onto the driver's seat, and behind the emergency brake. Both sides soak the floorboards front & back. It leaks whether stationary or in motion, however when it has been sitting during a rain storm, when you move it, sheets of water pour down from the sunroof.
Vehicle model & year does not offer or come with child safety locks.
After heavy rain excessive amounts of water pool inside vehicle. Drain plugs have been cleaned out multiple times. Although water continues to lay inside the track of the moon roof as well as drain onto the floor and sometimes onto the driver's side seat (depending on how the vehicle is parked). Based on the forums regarding h3's this appears to be a common problem. Why hasn't gm done anything to resolve it???
H3 |drainage problem i paid to have it fixed a year ago and it is blockedup again. My wife had the same problem with her h3. I have had cars and trucks and have never had this problem before with there sun roofs. I know i'm not the only one out here that's had the same problem . When at the dealership one of the shop mechanics said the design was a poor construction and design.the company should be doing something about there design and fix it or have a program to keep them from flooding . It could lead to electrical problems . Do to the water running down over the lower panels. I'm not happy paying to have it fixed again. This is just a bad design on gm part.
Radiator rubs in the middle on the frame causing stress to the top, crackling cracks . .causing leakage!!
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that rain water began to flood the vehicle while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. The contact was informed that due to the drain lines being too small, they would need to be retro-fitted at the consumer's expense. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and offered a credit towards her next purchase of one of their newer vehicles. The vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense. The failure and current mileages were 105,000.the consumer stated the entire vehicle had to be stripped, treated and dried. The issue was the drain lines in the sun rood pan.
I own a hummer h3 2006 model. I purchased it brand new. No accidents. The roof pools water because of a faulty drainage system. The water then comes out through the roof in large amounts and through the side walls and emergency brake. This can cause an accident due to the large amounts of water spilling onto the driver, or an electrical fire or mechanical malfunction. It can also cause mold in the interior due to large collections of water stagnating. This is a known issue that is recorded in gm forums - yet there is no recall for the faulty drain pipes.

This has actually happened several times. Water drainage for the sunroof system get clogged really easily and fast. Water will spill out from water trayand will run over the ceiling and fall through the roof mic (used for onstar), located directly above the driver's face. When driving and turning, water will move side ways and it will spill through the mic and sunroof window interior opening, soaking the driver while driving. Not safe at all. Drainage design is flaw, and it keeps clogging after fixing it.
The facia on the top of the hood flew off while driving in motion on a streethit another car it was a recall that the dealer said had been fixed all they did was put glue on it

I put in 4high lock for snow. I later put truck in 4 high. It feels as if it's stuck in 4high lick. I took it to repair shops and was told it's the 'plastic fork' on the transfer case and this is a faulty problem. The for was later changed to a metal kne because of this problem. It should have been metal in the first place. This is an expensive cost and i am in great hopes that the manufacturers will honor this.

(6-03-14) the right rear main leaf spring broke causing the rear tire to lock up and be at the most rearward position that it can be, almost rubbing the body. Then today, (7-27-14) the left rear spring done the same thing except the axle moved so far back that the driveshaft came out of the transfer case and i had to have a rollback haul it to a repair facillity. Updated 3/27/15
Brakes had to be done @ less than 32,000 miles. This was all four sets of pads and all four rotors. Early ball joint and tie rods failure (both sides) on a hummer h 3. The first was under 50,000 miles and now the other side @ 55,000. Truck has not been abused in anyway.
The frame rotted out and i want it fixed the front mounts for the rear leaf springs rotted off

The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. While the contact's husband was driving approximately 10 mph, another vehicle suddenly pulled out in front of him. In order to avoid hitting the vehicle, the driver immediately slammed on the brake pedal and the leaf springs suddenly fractured. The vehicle's "u" bolts, shackle bolts, and rear shackles fractured. The failure caused the drive shaft to detach from the transfer case and the rear axle to lay against the rear mud flaps. The vehicle was towed to the dragon auto body shop where all damaged parts were repaired. The contact informed an unknown hummer dealer who stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 8/3115342180. The approximate failure mileage was 106,520.updated 11/01/17*lj
Simply making a left hand turn, a tremendous clunk was heard. After stopping, passenger side leaf spring cracked in half, near where leaf spring attaches to frame. There was no extra load on suspension than usual.
I recently starting hearing a clunk or rattle in the front suspension. I took it to one shop who suggested i replace the shocks so i did. After i left the shop, i noticed the exact same issue was still there so i took it to another shop. They stated that i needed to replace the upper control arm bushing so i did. Unfortunately, neither fix solved the issue so i took it to yet another shop, ken graff in riverdale, utah who informed me today that the issue is a front lower control arm, that is documented on the gm website . The document number is 2367563 dated 11/10/2009. The engineers knew that this was an issue but their conclusion was that the condition was caused by an external impact event that exceeded the limits of the frame design, which is a line of bs.i have never taken my hummer 3 off road at any time and it does not even have a scratch on the paint job and it now has 92,000 miles on it.it is common sense to just provide the bushings to the customers instead of making a customer pay out the a-- because of a lack of common sense. I did contact gm who informed me that they have concluded it was caused by exceeded the limits of the frame design.a few things here i find hard to believe from the engineers, that they recommended that the frame needed to be replaced and that it was caused by a external impact which i find strange concerning they were pushing this as a off-road vehicle.if they knew about this issue why did they not recommend a recall instead of blaming the customer?they did not recommend to gm to create just the bushings instead of replacing the whole frame ( $9000 per ken graff)my conclusion is they knew of the issue and were covering their own ass, if i were to place just the bushings and if they were available my cost would be less then $500, i can accept that but exceeded the limits of the frame design hell no.
Catastrophic failure of leafspring/rear suspension.turning out onto road and heard a loud snap, steering went crazy, almost lost control of car.saw similar incidents happening all over the web.some ending in the truck flipping end over end.see common thread...bad weld in leaf spring and it snaps randomly over time at weld. Noticed someone on forums also complained with this nhtsa tracking number (10838131).please look into this before someone gets killed!

Was driving 40 mph on a 2-lane northbound highway.weather conditions were clear and sunny.a car pulled onto the highway and instead of pulling into the right lane, it pulled into my left lane.i had to press the brakes a harder than normal.at that point both rear leaf springs failed and blew apart, damaging the drive shaft and pulling the drive shaft from the transfer case.the rear axle was pushed to the very back of the vehicle, making it un-drivable.there was also some other underside damage, such as the emergency parking brake line, seals, gaskets, etc.i filed an insurance claim, however they determined the issue was due to a "mechanical failure of the general motors vehicle."i have full coverage and none of this was covered under either collision (i was able to avoid hitting anything) or comprehensive.repairs for all this are $4200 which are being repaired by a gm-certified mechanic at a gm dealership. I am now out $4200 and have no recourse with gm.i am the sole owner of this vehicle and have owned it since july 2005.i have maintained it in accordance with gm recommendations over the years and it was in excellent condition prior to this incident....updated 08/14/14
On march 20, 2016we hear a very loud bang in the rear of the hummer.. Rear main leaf spring broke off.we also have the loud bang when you put the vehicle in drive.both are being investigated by gm engineers @[email protected] vehicle should have never been sold by the dealer auto serv of tilton, nh.they will not make good on this vehicle.the vehicle at the time was literally going 15 miles per hour. Can you imagine if we were on the highway!!we have the old leaf springs home with us for proof.

I believe there is a problem with the h3 hummer 2006i request to bring it to a dealer to get it checked.has to do with the turning, reverse.when vehicle is put in neutral still seems in drive.sounds like a plastic noise.needs to be checked by a certified mechanic
The vehicle when stopping/ parking will allow you to remove the keys without the vehicle being in park therefore leaving the vehicle in a state that can rollnin either direction and to start the vehicle again the shifter needs tobe moved into the park position or it will not do anything.
Nuisance - key stuck intermittently in ignition upon turning off.safety problem - key can always be removed with transmission in any gear position.
This complaint is concerning the pass lock system on my hummer h3. My h3 has been not starting due tothe vehicle thinking it is being stolen. It has become a frequent problem and is really frustrating. When it first started happening it was, maybe 6 months before it happened again. Now, it is happening at least once a week. This morning i needed to bring my daughter to the emergency room for an extremely high fever and my vehicle would not start again. I had to wait about 10 minutes before i could get moving. This has become the norm. Truck won't start, wait 10 minutes and try again; truck starts. This is extremely frustrating and really an inconvenience.
My vehicle repeatedly leaves me stranded, due to faulty operations of the gm passlock system.periodically, the vehicle, despite being cranked with a valid key, will turn over and then die, because the anti-theft system has disabled the fuel injectors and a flashing lock icon will display on the dash for 10 minutes.when the problem first started, waiting the 10 minutes then cranking usually worked.now, it takes sometimes 8-9 tries to finally crank, waiting 10 minutes between each attempt, thus leaving me stranded for 1-2 hours.once the vehicle cranks, it runs fine, but i never know when i get out of it, if it's going to work the next time.occasionally, it will work fine for several days, then decide to quit working again.i do not believe i should have to pay for the malfunctioning of a system that i had no choice of opting into.i am willing to be responsible for whether or not my vehicle gets stolen.i did not ask for gm's protection, nor do i want or need it.i just want my vehicle to crank and drive like it's supposed to.
My vehicle will not start followed by a 10 minute lockout period. This happens every few days. Once the vehicle sits for 10 minuted it will start. This happens regardless of wether conditions, will persist intermittently anytime of day; does not have anything to due with key fob or how i enter the vehicle.
Driver seatbelt gets stuck and i can't get out.car won't start.wait ten minutes with the key in first position then it starts.it will take some girl like myself stuck in a dark parking lot with a car that doesn't start for ten minutes.
When i crank my hummer h3 up on cold mornings it dont start, sometimes it starts and then cuts off on warm days no problem.is there a recall on this product it seems that there are many complaints on this issue.
Onstar emergency request button, and all other onstar buttons do not transmit or receive. A verizon message announces "no phone service available." happen at all times, in all conditions. Verizon, gm and onstar each deny its their problem.
There is a known issue with this vehicle leaking i noticed it when it was raining that rain would leak through the on star microphone as well as through the front the driver and passenger doors and make the carpet like a sponge: https://youtu.be/ennnfwkhqwo the video attached to this link shows a prime example. If you read the comments it would show many customers of been affected with the same exact model vehicle. Also this video shows another example of water leaking through the on star microphone. Https://youtu.be/aqhyfoosmxg it is too expensive to have to pay $130.00 for them to diagnose a manufacturing flaw that multiple owners are going through. Please set a recall for this vehicle for them to resolve. Again it is a 2006 hummer h3. Thanks in advance.
The anti-theft engages randomly and prevents me from starting my car. This is not only inconvenient but could endanger my safety. There are numerous complaints listed about this defect by other h3 owners. This should be recalled. I just purchased the car less than 1 month ago.
When trying to start my hummer it turns over but will not fire. After 10 minutes, fires right up. To me it seems like a security/theft problem.
When istart the car the car is going on reverse or forward .as i am on neutral at different occasions.starter problems??
When the car is idling, there is a strong smell of exhaust fumes coming out of the air vents. The smell dissipates when the car is in motion. The vehicle has been checked for any leaky exhaust pipes or gaskets but nothing has turned up positive.
This has been happening for months. My hummer will not turn on then 10 to 20 minutes go by then it'll start and it's happening more frequent and taking longer to turn on. If you google "why won't my 2006 hummer start" there's a lot of people going through the same problem. No one knows what it is!! i think this should be a recall because its not a maintence issue. Please help!! this is starting to get trouble some especially when it doesn't start and you have to go somewhere. I'm thinking about trading it in but i really don't want to because i put a lot of money in it already!!
Sometimes when i go to start my car it will not start.then i wait exactly 10 minutes and it starts right up.this has been going on for about four years now.it happens about six times a month
2006 hummer h3 sun roof leaks and water seeping into electrical system. Had same issue 1 year ago and had fixed. Same problem just under 1 year later. Never use sun roof is never opened or cracked but being told issue stems from debris build up which should not occur as the roof is never opened. Looking online i have found a lot of people with the same issue. Issue happens during rain whether vehicle is stationary or moving.
In a document dated august 2015 i received a safety recall for my hummer h# 2006. "general motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2006 model year hummer h3. As a result, gm is conducting a safety recall. We apologize for this inconvenience. However, we are concerned about your safety a d continued satisfaction with our products,"important* your vehicle is involved in gm safety recall 15042* parts to repair your vehicle are not currently available. When parts are available, we will send you another letter asking you to contact your gm dealer to arrange a service appointment.* this service will be performed for you at no charge."to date, i have not received any correspondence from either the manufacturer nor gm. The recall letter advised me to contact you if i was not satisfied that they had done their best to remedy this condition without charge and within a reasonable time. I certainly am not satisfied that this matter has been resolved within a reasonable time. I am afraid to drive my vehicle for fear it will burst into flames due to the problem described to me. However, i have only one vehicle and public transportation is not reliable in my area. I am beginning to wonder if the parts to repair my vehicle are ever going to be available, and further, if i will ever receive the promised second letter telling me to set up an appointment with my gm dealer to get my vehicle repaired.

Hvac system fan blower works intermittently...sometimes the fan blower doesn't work or stops working altogether causing a major problems on cold or foggy days when you need the defrost to work.reported this to gm dealer but no repairs made.
The ventilation system stopping blowing air.i went online and did some research about this and found that many others had the same complaint and how to diagnose it.i opened up the area under the glove compartment and found that a resistor was burnt up.this appears it could have been a very dangerous situation if it had caught fire.

Overheated and melted resistor and wiring harness for the hvac blower motor on a 2006 hummer h3. This has happened to my vehicle and a friend of mine. Also many owners on the internet have had this same problem. It is so prevalent that many parts suppliers are advertising the parts for sale.
Heater a/c fan motor quit. The dealer repaired the link as he said it had gotten hot and burnt out. I can't find invoice at this time, but believe it to be around $90.00. Service done by whitehead chevrolet of truth or consequences, nm. The service mgr said this was a common problem.
Heating/ ac fan blower harness burnt up.a very common problem on an hummer h3/.
Vehicle blower motor failed.other reports on the internet show that this is a problem with this year and make.the wiring melts and causes the motor fan to fail.
Blower motor quit working. Took to dealer said needed motor wiring harness and resitor.they said the wiring harness caught fire and fused together. Cost of 300.00 to fix. Fire hazard.

The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3.due to heavy rain conditions the sun roof began to leak.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that the drain in the sunroof was clogged. The dealer unclogged the drain and within a few months the sunroof started to leak again.the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and the drain was unclogged again; however, the sunroof continued to leak. The sunroof seal was being replaced by the dealer when the complaint was filed. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the complaints on the leaking sunroof.the manufacturer stated that the leak was due to the clogged drains. The contact was concerned that the manufacturer did notissue a recall since the failure was a manufacturers defect. The failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. The contact stated that the dirt from the air was getting clogged into the sun roof, which affected the performance of the sun roof. When the sun roof got clogged with dirt, it caused water to leak into the vehicle whenever it rained. The water that leaked into the vehicle would affect the main vehicle computer that would affect the performance of the vehicle. The contact stated that the sun roof and vehicle computer failures had been recurring issues since owning the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 196,000.
Hummer h3 complaintfirst, the 06 hummer h3 sunroof has leaked on two separate occasions about a year and a half apart, most recent this may-june. Water leakage inside on the front side window panels and floor panels and floor. Moore cadillac-hummer told me that clogged drains were the cause. I think the seal must be defective otherwise the rain would not get in. The first incident was covered under warranty; this past incidence the warranty had just expired so i was charged $100 dollars. I have a feeling that it's going to happen again. I've never had this happen on other cars, the seals never leaked unless i left the roof open.second, the a/c fan blower recently went out, this july-august, my local mechanic said that the r & r blower motor resistor and resistor wire harness burned out. I've read this on several blogs, that this will happen repeatedly due to the design and resistor capacity. His service fee to repair is $300 dollars; about $170 for labor and $ 130 for parts, which i think is too high. I haven't taken it to the local gm dealer (moore cadillac-hummer), though i purchased it from criswell in gaithersburg, md, since i probably could not afford their cost.
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed water on the front passenger side floorboard. In addition, the vehicle failed to start and all the gauges and meters on the instrument cluster provided incorrect readings. All the warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer multiple times where it was diagnosed that the drain pipes for the sun roof needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was repaired on several occasions; however, the failure persisted. In addition, the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v421000 (visibility); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
1) 1.5 years ago we started getting "misfire on cylinder 5" code and now it is multiple misfires. 2) my fancy rims are peeling
The contact owns a 2006 hummer h3.while driving he noticed that the warning indicator light on the dashboard indicated low pressurein the tires.the contact checked the tires, and noticed that all four had low tire pressure.the dealer stated that there was excessive corrosion in the alloy of the passenger'srear wheel.the dealer dismounted the tires and the corrosion adhered to the bead of the tire ,and 4 inches of the tire stuck to the rim of the tire.the dealer informed the contact that they would pay to replace the tire, including grinding off the corrosion on all 4 wheels.the contact wantednhtsa to be aware of the safety risk involved.the current mileage was 21,000.the consumer stated dealer informedhim tire striking an object, where tired was badly corroded could cause blow out. The consumer provided repair invoice. Updated 05/23/07
