I bought a 2003 hummer h2 brand new. Since the day i got it had many problems, both electrical and mechanical. The steering is very hard and the breaking is ineffective at times. I showed them a copy of the bulletin on this website. They did not acknowledge any problems. The issue still persists. Many electrical issues seat memory problems, mirror don't work..etc. Eventually the electrical issues fixed. Roof leaking water from the reading light on two occasions once because of sunroof issue and the second time because of the outside roof light. Now most recently i have been having a problem with the "check engine oil" light comes on every 5 to 6 weeks and way before an oil change is due. This has happened at least 5 times so far. Everytime the engine is missing oil. The dealer says that hummer allows the engine to burn one quart of oil for every 100 gals of fuel. I said what am i supposed to do when that light comes on. The service manager said pull off the road and check the oil. I said what am i supposed to do if the oil is low. He said add oil to the engine. I said so i have to drive with a couple of quarts of oil in the back all the time? the light comes on every 5 to 6 weeks. I said how many hummers have you sold? he said many. I said how many you know of do that? he said none. I said if none do that, why does mine do it? and if this normal why none of the others do it? the dealer refuses to acknowledge any leak of oil or any burning of oil by the engine!!!!!!!
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. It took the contact up to thirty minutes to start the vehicle and the lock warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the ignition switch was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 45,000. *dt
My windshield wipers, and washer failed.this design flaw callback is only covered on some vins. But it appears all are defective. This causes great disappointment on a high end vehicle like a hummer.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2. The contact stated that the windshield wipers only functioned on an intermittent basis. The speedometer would also stick at a certain speed and whenever the vehicle decelerated, the speedometer would not reflect the actual speed the vehicle was traveling at. The speedometer would maintain readings of 60 mph and above. An authorized dealer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 02v283000 (visibility: windshield wiper/washer:motor). There were no recalls addressing the speedometer failure. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 55,894. Updated 09/28/2011 *ln
Nhtsa number08v456000action #pe08042my vehicle has the same i have the exact same windshield wiper/washer problem as listed in the recall however, hummer at www.gmownercenter.com won't repair it. Because my 2003 h-2 hummer is not included in the recallvins. Local hummer dealer will repair it but needs approval if it is to be repaired. Why my h2 vin wasn't included is a mystery to me...but the problem as referenced still exists as a safety defect. I need your assistance on this to move forward and correct this problem. Please advise.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer hummer h2. The contact stated that at engine startup, the speedometer failed to start at zero. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 70,200.
Consumer was going 70 mph and the two front tires locked, while the two back tires kept moving.vehiclethen continued to skip.the driveshaft was replaced.for the past 8 month this vehicle has been in the shop more than at the consumer's home.the vehicle has needed a new alternator, transmission, battery, ignition and drive shaft.the roof leaked and the consumer had to replace one of the side windows.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2.the contact stated that the windshield wipers do not work and the speedometer works intermittently.the current mileage was 46,000 and failure mileage was 43,000.
Key stuck in ignition.fortunately we arrived home before this happened, but when we got home we could not remove the key from the ignition.we had to leave it in the ignition, which ran the battery down by the next morning.we have had to disconnect the battery to keep it from running down, and have been unable to remove the key from the ignition - wd40 did not work, jiggling the key, steering wheel or shifter also did not work.
We have a 2003 hummer h2- the resistor for the blower motor is no longer made. This is a safety issue since it can limit visibility due to failure to clear the windshield.this is a safety hazard. We have contacted gm with no results.this is not the only vehicle that has this particular part.this is a very serious issue since it can limit the visibility and can cause a fatal crash.please advise.
I went to crank upmy hummer to warm it up due to the very cold weather once i cranked the hummer i immediately smelled a very strong burning odor. It begin to smoke and my husband yelled it your truck and i looked and saw the smoke getting worse and thicker. I unhooked my infant son's car seat belt and took him out of the vehicle. I ran to the building we were leaving to call 911 because of the smoke while on the phone with the 911 dispatcher i saw the fire start inside thetruck on the steering wheel and dashboard it then it immediately spread and burned the entire inside of the truck where it is not recognizable. The fire department came and sprayed water on it to put out the fire there were blue and red sparks shooting out of the truck. The sparks and fire started in the steering wheel area which showed there was an electrical issue that caused this fire. I checked other recalls and noticed that the issue i speak of was recalled inside of the 2006 h2 hummers.
The pass lock keeps my vehicle from starting and stopping it at random, and has been doing this for years. Seems to happen to at least 85% of hummers out there if you check around, hummer forum and other places. This is very serious. Stops at intersections, and could on railroad tracks. I know that you've had complaints about this for years and ignored them, saying that you haven't had other complaints. This should be addressed by your agency, as your job is to keep the citizens safe. Not pass them off as you've been doing for years on this issue with the gm pass lock system. This needs recalled before more people are killed due to this miss function on hummers. More people are having this shutdown issue than not. When it happens, you have to wait between 10 and 30 minutes with the key in the start position before it will start. So it sits in the middle of an intersection, interstate, bridge, or anywhere else during this time. Hopefully you will address this issue promptly.
I've had a problem with my instrument panel cluster. My speedometer doesn't read any mph. I can't determine how fast i'm going. Apparently, gm doesn't cover that, because there hasn't been any recalls ont that. I'm paying out of pocket today to get it fixed
'03 h2, speedo quit working at 26k kms. Took back on warranty 5-6 times. Dealer replaced cluster twice. Still doesn't work 8 years later, but hey! i only have 50k on it !!!
My check engine light comes on constantly even after oil changes and check ups. I have also noticed ever since this has started to occur my speedometer has been periodically sticking on 120mph when going at a very slow speed and staying on 60mph while in park. I find this very dangerous as i do not know the speed i am traveling and have received a speeding ticket when it was reading that i was going slower than i was actually traveling. Sometimes it will not work at all , sometimes it will read i am going slower than my actual speed and i did not know this until i got a ticket. But soon after this incident is when the speedometer kept sticking at 120mph and actually looking like my speedometer needle might brake off. This has caused a huge distraction while driving down the road. I am not a speed expert and should not have to worry about the speed i am traveling while driving down the road. I need to have my full attention on driving not worrying about my speed because it is faulty and inaccurate. This vehicle is hard enough to keep on the road as it is!

Speedometer reading too fast all the time, dealer diagnosed as bad speedo stepper motor.estimated cost of repair $700.00. Researched and found many complaints of same problem. Safety issue should be resolved with manufacture recall.
Driving along and suddenly the speedometer sticks. When coming to a stop, t is stuck at 40mph. Then we went again and the speedometer sped up to 85 and then stuck, this happened successively until it stuck beyond the scale. Now it is stuck and won't come back down. Looks like gm has a serious issue as so many people have complained about this problem online.
2003 hummer h2 speedometer is not accurate or consistent.currently the gauge is stuck above the max speed on the gauge.earlier today the speedo went down to 35 mph while the vehicle was at a stop then clicked or surgered its way past 120mph while driving approx. 70mph.this is maddening and unsafe.
Speedometer erratic or stuck on 120mph.same problem gm tahoe/suburban are having.dealer wants $600 to fix.same stepper motor part as tahoe/suburban.
Vehicle died 4-5 blocks away from dealership the day of purchase.(nar)*phproblems with the vehicle power train transmission and battery had to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle however, could not remove the key out of the ignition. The contact mentioned that he had to take the vehicle to a lock smith to have the key removed. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 231,000.
Exhaust manifold bolts rusted off and the vehicle makes a ticking sound. I just observed a video explaining that this is a common problem. It also may cause other emissions related problems. Call me day or night for any further information. This vehicle has had nothing but problems and an unrelated engine fire due to the faulty windshield wiper motor in 2009.

A parked hummer h2 2003 was spontaneously combusted and destroyed.the suv was driven that fateful day for about 15 minutes back and forth to a grocery store and parked in our driveway. Engine was off and key was out.about 10 minutes later, my daughter noticed the engine on fire and panicked.called 911.fire engine hosed the fire out in the next 1/2 hour but the suv was charred and the front of the house damaged badly.we had kept the h2 well maintained and serviced it regularly.there were no mechanical or electrical issues otherwise.we are a non-smoking family.very sad to see our pride and joy burnt to ashes.my family could have been badly hurt. Please investigate so others could be saved from the catastrophe we are going through.

I have a 2003 hummer h2, and i have a few broken bolts on my exhaust manifolds. I've learned that this is a problem with these engines through online research. Also i had to replace my catalytic's because of this issue. My mechanic has told me that this is a very expensive repair, can anyone help me?
I am a retired u.s army transporation officer, with a degree in transportation from indiana university.i'm also a current air traffic control specialist in reno nevada.on several occasions (at least 5) during the past 2 months i have followed a pov in the hours of darkness without any tailights illuminated.the headlights were on, but the driver was unaware of the fact that their complete lighting system was not on.the reason for this oversight was the fact that the automatic daytime headlights were on, and the driver thought they had full vehicle lighting.i additionally experienced this when i purchased my new car in mid december, when once at night i began to drive with my headlights on, but luckily soon noted that the rest of my lighting was not activated.the point of this advisory to you is that i believe that many terrible rear end type accidents lie ahead or may have already occurred, due to this possible oversight of drivers, and it is not really of their own fault.solution is to take immediate action to correct this problem by advising all auto makers to have a light sensor installed that will not allow the daylight headlights to automatically activate past dusk.additionally send out a nation wide awareness notice to all drivers to be on the lookout for this potential problem, especially those with daylight safety headlights.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2.the engine indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and the contact took the vehicle to the repair shop.the mechanic replaced the gas cap.immediately after the repair, she took the vehicle to the gas station and noticed that fuel was spewing out.it was discovered that the gas elbow and tank were cracked.the repair shop replaced the elbow and gas tank with a stronger metal at the cost of $1,700.the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty; therefore, they would not assist.the contact receiveda call from gmc to conduct a survey.gmc wanted to know if she would purchase another gm vehicle.the failure mileage was 72,000 and current mileage was 78,000.

Lifted vehicle was taken into have a leaking upper driver's side cv boot replaced. When the axle was removed, it was discovered that the axle had been destoyed and the pieces punctured the cv boot internally causing the leak. This is the 2nd time in a little over 600 miles that this boot needed to be replaced. When the cv boot was last replaced, there was no noticable damage to the axle. Was informed by a gm tech today that the damage may have occured when the axle was reinstalled. Now i have been informed by the dealership that the gm factory rep has denied warranty coverage. Vehicle has been lifted and dealership attributes the damage to the lift and the angle of the axles. Vehicle is not used off-road and 4x4 option is not used. Other h2's on www.h2source.com have had similar problems but this was due to off-road usage.*mr

Windshield wiper intermittent. Comes on without switch being activated, will not go off at all. Pulled fuse at the dealership still wouldn't go off. Was driving down the road in the rain, wipers would not function at all, however wiper fluid was rapidly spraying out at full spray and continued to spray after fluid was all gone. Bad visibility problems. Had to pull over to side of freeway in redding,ca and call local hummer dealer which was 100 miles away. Gentleman i spoke with said he had heard of this many times. Got it fixed, and it did not remedy the problem. Now i have front end problems ,brake problems, frame is squeaking really bad and dealership cant find anything wrong. Rear passenger window keeps falling down. All in all hummer are the biggest pile of junk on the road. Ill never give my money to gm again. They do not stand behind what they sell. Now i cant even trade it in. They'll sure take your money and finance you no problem, but when you have problems they turn the other cheek and act like nothings wrong or its all your fault. I have a very strict maintenance program for all my vehicles,so them saying that its my fault,or if its involved in a crash, insurance companies want to place blame too. Good thing i have records...lots of records.i've also had problem with seat recall. One of the first times i drove it the easy out was activated and it crushed me up against the steering wheel. I turned that off really quick!

Brake lines completely rusted causing a catastrophic failure in braking. 2003 h2 hummer . For the life of me , i cant believe there is no recall for this !!!
We purchased this h2 in december 2014 and by feb 2015 noticed a grumbly sound in the brakes.we took it in for service and the tech told us the whole undercarriage was rusted and all the brake lines were rusted thru and had to be replaced.since some of the lines were no longer available, they had to "create" them.this was a costly fix and who knows what the safety impact could have been.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2. The contact was driving 45 mph and attempted to stop at a red light when the brakes failed. The vehicle coasted until it stopped in a parking lot. The emergency brake was used to drive the vehicle to the contact's residence. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle as having corrosion on the brake line. The contact was informed that in order to repair the vehicle, the frame would have to be removed. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

I was driving down the highway interstate 70 in maryland and went to apply my brakes . As i applied the brakes , the truck pulled hard to the right ,and the brake pedal went to the floor . If i would not haveswerved onto the median , i would have ran into the back of another vehicle .after stopping , i looked under the vehicle and observed a puddle of brake fluid on the ground ,and the front suspension was covered in brake fluid.after further inspection, i noticed that all the brake lines were corroded. Gm states that your vehicle can still stop if you lose one of the brake lines . In my situation , i found this to be a false statement . This is a very dangerous situation ,and i was very surprised when i took the vehicle into a certified gm dealership and found that they would not do anything about this issue. They offered a voucher for 1000 towards a new vehicle . I own a 1968 camaro that is all original ,and i do not have any rust issues with the brake lines. How is this possible that a car 35 years old does not have this problem ? and even more crazy , that gm turns a blind eye to this dangerous issue .needless to say, i will not ever buy another gm product !
The contact owns a 2003 hummer hummer h2. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph and depressing the brakes, they would go straight to the floor and the vehicle was unable to stop. The driver stopped the vehicle by downshifting the transmission and applying the emergency brake. The vehicle was later towed to a dealer diagnosis. After diagnosis they advised him that the brake lines were rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired for rusted brake lines. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were approximately 88,000. The vin was unavailable.
Failure of braking system due to complete erosion of brake lines. Extremely dangerous safety issue along with very costly repairs for a vehicle consumers believed to be "well-made". I can't understand why the substandard defective parts and associated repairs have not been a determined as a recall. Based upon the amount of complaints for this problem, it is obvious that the consumers that paid for a "high-end" vehicle were duped!!!
Brake pedal went to the floor upon brake application without prior warning. Upon inspection, found brake lines corroded through and leaking just under the driver's seat. Cost to repair will be significant.
I was exiting the highway and pushed the brake pedal to slow the vehicle, everything was fine. When i went to stop the pedal went to the floor. I was able to pump the brakes and the vehicle stopped. When i was checking to see what the problem was i noticed all the metal brake lines are corroded and one was leaking.
After visiting paradise chevrolet for the service of gm hummer h2, 2003, it was brought to my attention that the hydro booster assembly as well as the pitman arm assembly need to be replaced.after further investigation i found that these part were on recall from hummer(i have proof of the recall).on october 11, 2011, at approximately 2:20 p.m.,i called general motors hummer division as the notice instructed the customer to do so, their contact number for hummer is 1 (866) 436-6375.i contacted gm's hummer division at this number, explained the situation and the customer representative said there was no such recall even after explaining with proof of same.i then asked to speak with a supervisor i was refused, asked for a manager i was refused, asked for corporate telephone number.i was left on hold for over 15 minutes and finally hung up after realizing that the customer service rep. Was never going to come back on the telephone line.gm is refusing to honor their own recall, i need help please, thank you!
While barely moving at less than 1 mph, the contact experienced a failure in the braking system due to the rusted brake lines. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the hoses and calipers were replaced. The failure mileage was 28,071. The current mileage was 29,000. Updated 05/25/10 the consumer stated the entire undercarriage has rusted. Updated 05/28/10
My 2003 hummer h2's service brakes light keeps coming on along with the traction control & abs light, and every time i brake it seems to pull me all over the road. It is also very hard to stop if i suddenly have to brake and i am scared i am going to have a major collision with another vehicle or another object. This is very dangerous! there are many times i have applied pressure to my brakes and it didn't even slow at all. I am terrified to drive this vehicle as i have 3 very young children usually with me & i bought this vehicle under the impression that it would be a safe vehicle for my children & more importantly my 5 year old daughter that had brain surgery less just over a year ago that cannot hit her head or be in a minor car crash because her skull may come apart and kill her instantly , this is the very reason i bought this big, roomy, gas guzzler to begin with, to give my child enough room in a minor car crash to not hit her head because the vehicle did not have enough room or she was too compacted in a smaller suv and i am finding out i might have been better off with another smaller vehicle.i have had nothing but problems with the safety of this vehicle, and this was a very bad decision to buy this vehicle and now i have no options to trade it in right now because i have to much in it. Please do something about this before someone gets killed or seriously injured because i could not stop my vehicle and yes, my brakes are almost new so its not the problem, nor does it have low brake fluid.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2. The contact stated that all of the brake lines were rusted out. While towing a thirty foot boat, the parking brake abnormally traveled all the way to the floorboard. An independent mechanic replaced all of the brake lines. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 15 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The contact vehicle moved into the intersection. The contact was able bring the vehicle to a stop. The contact was able to move the vehicle to safety. The contact inspected the vehicle himself and found that the brake fluid was leaking from the brake master cylinder. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic test performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 160,000.

The steering on my 2003 hummer h2 steering is horrible and seems to be worse when the brake is applied. I also have noticed that i have way too much steering and it tends cause me to over correct and go into the ditch or off the road. And when i am going down a highway that is very dangerous (which i have to travel to leave my house) i can be driving in a straight line and it will just veer off into another lane with the steering wheel straight and this is not a balance or alignment issue whatsoever because this has been checked.
On april 22, 2008 my son was driving my h2 and was trying to turn the steering wheel to the left to change lanes quickly due to a car making a right hand turn in front of him.when he turned the steering to the left the right front wheel fell off and caused him to slide into the car making the right turn.i am thankful it happened when he was changing lanes going only 10-15 miles per hour instead of it happening while changing lanes on the freeway doing 65 to 70 miles per hour.we wrote to gmc as well as our warranty people and my insurance, mercury, and they all said it was not a malfunction in was my sons fault.we had to pay out over $1800 in rental car fees and then when we found out we were going to have to pay and claim it on our insurance we did without a car for over 3 months while the h2 was being repaired.we were out $2573 in repairs to replace the knuckle and other steering parts via marvin k. Brown auto center.we finally got it back and now only a year later it is showing signs of the same thing happening again.it has a mind of its own when it wants to have power steering or not, it also turns to the left or right when the brake is applied.i am very afraid that i or someone else driving my vehicle is going to get seriously hurt if this happens again.i have no choice but to drive this vehicle due to these economic times i can't afford another vehicle.
Driving down highway 64 east mile marker 261... Driving down the road in 03 hummer h2 and was cut off.my speed was 70, their speed was 55.slammed on brakes and attempted to drive around person that cut me off.when i hit the brakes went into a skid (i think i lost my steering on the right front tire, still skid marks on road).held the skid for 600 feet(?) at which point i lost control.drove into ditch and attempted to do a 180 and back into the woods because i was going up a hill and the ravine on either side was getting very deep and there was a bridge coming up.i flipped once but knocked both front tires off. I drive a lot(150 miles a day on average) and have never had a wreck.this was ridiculous, i feel like i clearly lost my steering on my front right(passenger side) and the more i think about it the more i feel like that's what happened.well the trucks totaled so nothing that can be done to fix it... On the up hand i walked away from a pretty bad accident with only aches a and pains.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2. While driving approximately 35 mph, the steering failed, the front passenger wheel detached from the vehicle, the passenger side front end dropped, and the vehicle slid into a parked truck. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. Nhtsa campaign number: 06e010000 (steering) was related to the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2.while driving 1-5 mph, the power steering malfunctioned intermittently.when attempting to park, the steering wheel was difficult to turn.the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer.the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 04v045000 (service brakes:hydraulic).the failure mileage was 52,000 and current mileage was 55,992.
There were no events leading up to the failure. I pulled into my office parking lot on the morning of 2-20-2006. There was snow on the ground. I turned the wheel to the left, and with a little throttle, spun around into my parking place. I have since discovered that by doing that little maneuver, you can, and i did, shear off the shaft of the power steering pump. Disabling the power assist to the steering as well as to the brakes! rendering the truck all but undriveable. This is also sitedin a story by wnbc about a lady that lives in the pocono's who encountered the same situation in her h2 ona snow covered road.
There was a noise coming from the front end of the vehicle.the right front wheel came off and the vehicle pulled right into a telephone pole.the vehicle is having repairs done right now.
On aug 23,07 at approx 4:30 p.m., i pulled up to a stop sign in san mateo, ca.i stopped completely, made a right hand turn, and proceeded south at approx 10mph, when suddenly the right front end of my 2003 hummer dropped onto the ground, and i completely lost control of the vehicle. There was no steering, little brake pedal and the vehicle proceeded to travel to the right and collided with a parked vehicle. There was absolutely nothing i could do to prevent this. I exited the vehicle, a pedestrian approached me, and said he noticed the wheel wobbling and suddenly fly off, turn around, my vehicle drop, screech and continue in a forward motion, and the wheel turned around, continued moving, and parked itself in a green zone, inside out, next to a curb.i exited the vehicle, shocked and confused, inspected the damaged vehicle, inspected the axle assembly and wheel sitting next to the curb, got my witness info, took pictures and notified the police. I also notified my insurance (aaa).i acquired a rental vehicle and waited to hear the outcome from my insurance carrier. They have since notified me that it has been determined that i am 100 percent at fault for this collision and principally at fault for a rollaway vehicle. I have also contacted gmc , who are admitting no liability,(gmc said a rep will respond in 30 to 45 days). I am appealing aaa's determination that i am at fault, due to the fact that this is a steering knuckle failure (safety), i could have been killed or killed someone, there was no reasonable way to control an out of control vehicle, and if aaa and/or gmc do not want to step up and take responsibility i will be forced to take legal action.as of this letter, 36 days later, i am in a rental vehicle, my vehicle has not been touched, no repairs have been started , and even if they were, at this point i do not ever want to drive this vehicle again. It is totally unsafe. In all my years of driving, i have never been so scared or so out of control.
Driver's side front wheel collapsed while making a left turn at 10 mph. Vehicle was towed to a repair shop. Later, the vehicle was towed to the dealer, who informed the consumer that the steering knuckle broke. *tc
Vehicle would vibrate and make a thumping noise while driving. Vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer informed the consumer that the steering knuckle needed to be replaced.
2003 hummer h2 with steering knuckle failure. Customer states that the steering knuckle failed causing the accident. His insurance and the manufacturer say it wasn't a vehicle failure and he is at fault.the consumer stated does not want vehicle repaired but wants a full refund to purchase a 2008 hummer h2.
I bought a hummer h2 in april 2004.i went off road the next weekend and was going about 5 miles an hour up a mountain and lost control of the steering.we found out the tie rod broke.they told me it was not covered by warranty.i went to abritration and won my case.this last weekend i was climbing a hill less than 5 miles an hour and the same tie rod broke.when this happens you have no control of that wheel.i talked to a sales man at the hummer dealer i bought my truck from and he told me that he broke a tie rod at one of the hummer test centers.when i picked my truck up from the dealer the first time my tie rod broke i saw another hummer h2 being brought in for a broken tie rod.i talked to the service repair tech and he told me he could not believe how small the tie rods are.i feel very lucky to be able to tell you these stories.i do not want to have to see people die from this defective tie rod.i know gm does not want to recall this part but it needs to be changed before someone gets hurt or killed.thanks for you help, anthony orefice 661 510-6523 cell.
While driving 5 mph, the driver'stie rod broke without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the driver that the tie rod needed to be replaced. However, theproblem recurred. Please provide further details.
While driving, the tie rod broke.*ph *la
Tworods</a>broke while driving at approximately 5 mph. Consumer contacted the dealer and the manufacturer, and they will not honor the warranty. Consumer is currently waiting for a session with arbitration.the consumer is meeting with other consumers with the same problem.*tc
I have a major problem with leaking and rattling coming from the sunroof and now i cannot get it to function. It sounds like it might actually fly off when i am riding down the road. I have heard very many complaints on this same problem from other h2 owners. I am not worried about it working properly but i am very concerned about it flying off and causing serious injuries to my self or other people it may hit.

When i am parked on my driveway, the two front doors will not stay open to let me and my wife safely enter and exit. The doors are supposed to be held open by what is called a door check. These two left and right door checks have a defective design because i ordered two new ones, and the 2 doors will not stay open as we are entering, and exiting the hummer. The doors quickly close and almost break our hip , legs and feet. It is a defective design because they used plastic and rubber to make friction together in the door check. It will not hold open the heavy door(s) on the hummer h2.the hummer only has 14,710 miles on it.so, i know that it is a common problem. Normally, my last gm chevrolet truck used door checks with steel roller(s) that rolled against a steel spring(s).i am having difficulty on your website to upload a photo of the door check with the defective design.
Any time it rains the vehicle fills up with water.the dealer has replaced the sun roof, the gasket in the drivers door, and the cargo hatch.the electric drivers seat moves up automaticallywhen the vehicle is turned off causing the driver to be crushed against the dash board.the consumer feels that the hood is too heavy and that there is no support bar to hold it up.the vehicle has been to the dealer seven times since the consumer purchased it.*mr

Two cable straps holding hood on 2003 hummer h2 broke
Dt: the consumer owns a 2003 hummer h2. The hood cable on the h2 was surrounded by a rubber sleeve for the hood release. Over a period of time the cable deteriorated and it caused the hood to fall, resulting in injury to the contact. When the hood was in the lock position the rubber hoses around the support cables held water in the process andcaused the cable to rust.this occurred on both of the hood cables. The dealership replaced the cable, and they did not put the rubber hose on the cable.they replaced it with a different type of cable. The contact reported this to gm manufacturer.they offered him a $200settlement for his injury. This occurred on september 13, 2004.
While turning down a city street the left front wheel of my 2003 hummer 2 broke off from the axle, and the vehicle dropped onto its belly on the left front side. It was towed to the dealership and reported to them. Their response has been "whatever, too bad" but there are only 68,000 miles on it and this failure has been reported in these vehicles before. What constitutes a safety recall and whogathers and reports the data ?thank you

Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds on the highway, there was a clunking noise coming from the left front side.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer, who determined the left front upper control arm was loose, and wore a hole through the frame where it connected.also, the dealer determined the upper control arm needed to be replaced, and attached with washers to prevent further damage to the frame.the manufacturer was alerted.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer hummer h2. The contact stated that the front drivers wheel fractured while driving at highway speeds, causing the vehicle to drop and skid approximately 50 feet ahead. There were no injuries from the incident. The vehicle was repaired for all of the components listed above. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

While turning right at 30 mph the front end dropped down. This causedconsumer's vehicle to hit a parked vehicle. The vehicle was towed.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
I was taking a turn on an on ramp to the interstate and my wheel fell off. I don't know how or why but my tire came off the vehicle.

I have purchased a 2003 hummerh-2 last year in arizona. I now live in florida. My trucks steering vibrates and makes a clicking type noise when driving on poor pavement. Then the windshield wiper stopped working. I turned the vehicle off and on. Thewindshield wiper started working, but the windshield wiper washer keeps spraying cleaner on the windshield. I had to remove the relay to make it stop. The rear window washer keeps spraying cleaner on the window also. I called a chevorlet dealer in florida and told them about the problem. They told me that i would have to pay $600 for the multiselect switch if that is the problem. That doesn't include the labor cost. I started looking on the internet for recall information and it seems that i am not the only one with that problem. I don't think that i should pay for a manufacture mistake. So i am reporting this to you. Nothing was done to correct the problem.
My right front wheel, inner backing and axle came off. The lower flange broke away from the lower a-arm.this happened while i was driving on a paved road near my house.the a-arm hit the ground and spun the h2 off the road and into a tree.the right wheel's brake backing plate and axle came off all in one piece. Except for this one flange, the remainder of each front wheel is held in place by only ball joints. The upper flange is attached to a ball joint. The lower flange is a major structural component of the front end. There was no impact to any of the parts of the right wheel assembly or axle even after i was thrown off the road. Obviously the brake line and abs circuit was severed immediately. I had no brakes and little other control. After the h2 hit the tree, it came to a stop. The bottom of the tree stayed stationary, but the top of the tree broke off and came down (hard) on the right windshield post, bending the post and shattering the windshield. Dt*:the contact stated while driving over bumps in the road at various speeds the force of the bumps are felt within the vehicle.the vehicle sags on the passenger side due to the torsion bar losing it's spring.the dealer has replaced the torsion bar but the problem recurred.
A hummer through a large rock into my windshield this morning.with tires the size of a commercial vehicle, why are no mud flaps installed on this make of car??this appears to be a violation of washington state rcw 46.37.500.

The contact stated when the failure occurred it was not raining and the windshield wipers scratched the glass. She stated now the windshield wipers would not turn on and made a loud noise. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. I was driving home after work and it started to ran. I turned on my windshield wipers and they worked for a short time then just stopped. I turned off the wipers and tried to get them to restart, but nothing happened so i turned them off. Then all of a sudden, they came back on at high speed and i couldn't turn them off ; the washer fluid started shooting out massively until it was reserve was empty.my wipers stay on constantly and only turn off when i turn the car off. The dealership (vera hummer in pembroke pines fl )states that there is a recall for the cover but they will not replace the motor, i am responsible.that is not right this is a defect and should be covered by the hummer manufacturer.
Need to replace blower motor resistor module.it quit working and we have been trying to replace part since sept 2008.gm informed me they do not currently make this part.i feel it is a safety issue due to ice/frost and or condensation forming on the inside of the windows due to the cold weather here.it makes visibility slim to none.i was told it would take at least a month to find someone to make this part...that was 2 months ago.just since sept 2008 there are almost 500 people hunting this same part, we are #8 on the list.i feel due to the high volume it should be handled as a recall...replaced free of charge as well as free labor, and a rental car provided free of charge until gm/hummer can fix my vehicle so i can have the use of it.

Windshield wiper failure.
I have a 2003 hummer h2.i am the original owner.in 2005 the windshield wiper/washer module failed during heavy rains.the dealer replaced it under warranty.on january 21, 2010, during heavy rains, it failed again.i looked up the module on the internet to find out that in 2008, 2003 hummers were recalled for this very reason.unfortunately, my vin number was not within those recalled.i saw posts regarding the failure of this module on many other years.i contacted gmc, and they told me that they would not replace the module because it was not on the recall list.they also told me that they only recall models when the nhtsa forces them to, and they do not volunteer any recall.this is ridiculous and they should be held responsible for this obscure unit failing.no other car in the world has had this problem, only hummer.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2.immediately after purchasing the vehicle, the contact heard an unfamiliar noise.a month later, the windshield wipers worked intermittently.the dealer could not diagnose the failure.the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 08v456000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer:motor), in which the vehicle was repaired.immediately following the repairs, the windshield wipers continued to work intermittently.the vehicle never left the dealer lot and the mechanic stated that it needed a wiper transmission.the manufacturer stated that the recall that was related to her vehicle pertained to the windshield wiper motor module; therefore, they were not liable for the wiper transmission being repaired.the current and failure mileages were 73,434.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2. The windshield wiper motor failed after water built up under the cover and ruined the bearings. Nhtsa id#08v456000 campaign, visibility:windshield wiper/washer:motor is related to the failure. The front windshield wipers began working intermittently. The dealer stated that they have to repair the cover and the motor is at the owners expense. The failure mileage was 46,000.
Windshield motor began running on its own. Wiper fluid began squirting on its own. Would not respond to control.recall notice document id # 1197628 states the recall is to replace a cover over the motor to prevent it from failing....... When i took my truck to have the recall performedthey changed the cover? leaving the motor inoperable.i am sure this was not the intention of the recall.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2. The contact stated that the windshield wiper motor had malfunctioned. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer and informed the contact that the module failed due to excessive water. The module was replaced, but not the motor. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
I own a 2003 hummer h2, that has the same issues with the wipers as that of the recall. I am being told that my vin number does not fall into the effected units and that i am out of luck. My system also releases the wiper fluid non stop.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2.the contact stated that the windshield wipers would not activate during inclement weather.the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 08v456000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer:motor).the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 104,000 and the current mileage was 105,000.

My windshield wipers, and washer failed.this design flaw callback is only covered on some vins. But it appears all are defective. This causes great disappointment on a high end vehicle like a hummer.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2.while driving approximately 5 mph in the rain, the windshield motor stopped working.the dealer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 02v283000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer:motor); therefore, they would not replace the motor.the contact insisted that the dealer replace the motor; however, the dealer stated that they would only do so if it is approved by the manufacturer.the failure and current mileages were 65,000.
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2.the contact stated that the windshield wipers worked intermittently.he received a recall notice and the dealer replaced the wipers according to nhtsa campaign id number 08v456000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer:motor).after the repair, the failure worsened and the wipers stopped working completely.the contact returned to the dealer and was informed that the failure was a direct result of the recall.the contact would have to pay $600 to have the wipers repaired again.the manufacturer offered him a $500 coupon toward his next purchase from them, but did not assist with the wiper failure.the current and failure mileages were approximately 90,000.
Driving in misty rain and delay portion of wipers quit.had to cut wipers on and off.when it quit raining was going down road and wipers came on by themselves.tried cutting off and had to pull fuse.when i put fuse back in next time it rained pump sent all my wiper fluid out of rear wiper.
I was unaware of the recall 08v456000 until the windshield wipers on my hummer h2 began until the front windshield wipers started to work intermittently and then became inoperative.gm issued a second recall for the replacement of the entire motor, but said my vin fell outside of the recall points.i am having a very difficult time finding a replacement motor at a price i can afford.gm says it is just my problem.i have a young child and am unable to use my vehicle as i need to because of concern for his safety.gm is recalling 13,358 my 2003 hummer h2 vehicles. Some of these vehicles have a condition in which water can enter the windshield wiper motor module. If a sufficient amount of water enters the module, over time, the front windshield wipers may work intermittently or they may become inoperative consequence if this were to occur, driver visibility could be reduced, which could result in a vehicle crash. Remedy dealers will inspect the windshield wiper module cover, and replace the windshield wiper module cover free of charge.
The windshield wipers stopped working, while in the pouring down rain. No accident, but the 2003 h2 does have a recall on the wipers for this exact reason. I had to put out over 700 to have it repaired. I would like to have the vin number reviewed as to why it is not covered under the recall as what happened is what they described the problem to be. I do have the invoice from the repair.
Windshield wiper motor failure, motor replaced in may and failure on 2nd one this morning. 55 mph on the highway in the pouring rain. After first failure called gm and they said my vin # wasn't covered under the recall, this morning im contacting my attorney. Sick of this garbage!
The contact owns a 2003 hummer h2. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph on a rainy day, the windshield wipers failed to operate. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was operated. The manufacturer stated that the vin was not part of a recall and the contact had to pay for the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
One evening while driving in the rain on a local road headed home my windshield wipers which ofcourse were in operation suddenly stopped stuck in the upright position i immediately heard a somewhat loud hummingnoise sounding as if it were coming from inside the upper dashboard i couldn't see to drive as i naturally responded to the wipers suddenly stopping and in the upward position making it hard for me to see while driving, i quickly turned the knob on the left side of the steering wheel which operatesthe wipers speed and on & off function in hopes it would bring the wipers down to the resting position especially if turned off however even though i turned the knob to the off position the wipers remained frozen in the same upward state as when no longer wiping but the humming noise stopped. I quickly pulled off the road turning the wipers on again i could here the humming noise but the windshield wipers still failed to move.when i turn the wipers off again no noise could be heard and yet still not making a difference in moving the wipers which stopped working while in the up on windshield position.after toggling around with the on and off knob and the noise coming on and off in sequence with but not the wipers i concluded that the motor was the noise i was hearing establishing it still works however not moving the wipers it is intended for. A working windshield wiper motor or whatever operating mechanism but no functional wipers.therefore i can not see anytime driving and along comes the rain for it quickly impairs thevisibility to see through the windshield to see the road or traffic in front of you making extremely unsafe to drive and putting other drivers at risk especially if on the highway doing fast speeds and/ or a place where it is not easy to pull over suddenly makesvery stressful and inconvenient

We purchased our 2003 hummer h2 in march 2008 and as we test drove the hummer (fully loaded)we checked all the specs everything was working well and 1 or 2 days laterwe went to try and open the sunroof and it would not open, and we have also noticed that when it is raining heavy or light that our headliner has water stains and is wet right after it rains. We are also having a problem with the sunroof (fully closed)will shake & rattle and it feels like at any moment that it could completely fly off and cause a serious accident or even a fatal one due to the weight of the sunroof glass. I have done a lot of research and there are thousands of complaints on auto forums online, with this exact same issues that we are having. I think this should be considered a very serious issue but to the fact that if it flies off and it doesn't cause an accident, that it could go through the vehicle's windshielddirectly behind us. I think that this should be a top priority recall due to it being a manufacture faulty installand the other 2003 hummer h2 owners complaints say that when they took their hummer to the dealership, they were told it was a manufacture faulty install and were still charge large sums of money to fix a manufacture problem .i think that the hummer/gm manufacture should be held liable, and pay for all costs & damage to the headliner & the faulty sunroof rattle . And we have to pay high pricesfor thesevehiclesalone, we do have a right to have these problems corrected & fixed, and we should not have to pay for any of it, since it was a manufacture problem . Thank you very much.
I have a severe rattle coming from my sunroof and sunroof reflector and the sunroof does not operate to the open position but will vent open but when it is in the closed position it rattles and shakes looks like it is going to fly off and i am very worried this is going to happen. I also seem to have a "car-pool" every time it rains because it leaks badly even when its being washed or in a light shower. There is alot of water damage on the headliner and water stains as well. And my vehicle seems to end wet inside after a rain shower or storm. The leak itself is not a huge issue but the rattle is. The sunroof is going to eventually fly off, this is inevitable ! i have taken it to be checked & no one can figure the cause. I do not want to even think about what will happen if the glass flies off & do not want to be the cause of someone dying or becoming badly injured.this is a very big safety issue, please recall this problem! i also have several other safety issues associated with this vehicle which my wife & ihave filed under separate complaints on this site.i am not a typical complainer and usually just takes things in stride but this has become ridiculous! please do something!

Wiper cover recall notice 08243. Took vehicle in, wipers had already stopped working. Told crest cadillac this when i called. They replaced the cover on a motor that was broken already. Would not replace the motor. Note on inspection report said wiper motor assemble needs to be replaced. Called gm several times and was to recall was for motor cover and not motor. I would say, yes but because the cover is defective and allowed water in the motor assembly it has stopped working. Would not replace or cover charges.went to see manager or repair shop, he said he could not replace motor without authorization or he would not get reimbursed for charges. Filled complain with bbb. Got call from gm within 3 days, after answering her questions she told me they could would not replace the motor at this time. Called manager of crest cadillac and gave her info. She said she would call me back. I never heard from her. Do not know what to do now.
