2004 honda crf-50 dirt bike, right front fork shaft is not strong enough to safely support the weight of the bike dueing normal operation. The slightest impact such as falling over while moving at speeds found at less than full throddle in first gear, such as a beginner would use, will cause the front fork shafts to bend resulting in a loss of steering control and a potential harmful condition.
I bought my vtx 1300 in 2004, a 2004 model.i have a little over 3000 miles due to driving only in the city.when i finally got out on the interstate 95, cars and trucks were passing me while i was going 80 mph.my buddy on a goldwing said we didn't get over 72 mph.after some research, i found my speedo to be off by about 10%.know wonder why cars and trucks pass me.unsat!
I am experiencing two problems with my 2005 honda vtx1300 motorcycle, which i bought one week ago.the bike was put together out of the crate for me and had 0 miles on it when i bought it.at speeds of 30-50 mph, i have a wobbling up down motion....in what seems to be my front end.....it does not change with speed....it is the same rate of wobble through the range of speed.i called this issue to the attention of the dealer after a 7 mile demo ride....they assured me it was due to flat spots in the tires due to shipping and this would go away.over 300 miles later, it has not.second problem: speedometer is off by 10%, odometer is off by over 5% as confirmed by a gps.....this causes problems on the road in that the rider has to constantly do a math calculation to determine actual speed...unsafe. The odometer inaccuracy will affect value of bike due to showing higher mileage than actual.dealer says this is normal and "within specs" per honda tech line.my previous honda motorcycle's speedometer/odometer was dead on accurate.
Bought motorcycle in sept. 2004. The ignition/starter fuse has blown due to an intermittant electrical short 5 times. Dealer has tried to locate problem 3 times without success. After second try, they're suggestion to remedy it was to carry a lot of fuses. Bike just dies without warning. This is a hazard to me, my passenger, and vehicles around me.
The speedometer is off by approximately 9-10% (reads faster than actual speed).this creates a safety issue with other drivers behind you tailgating, passing you in road rage type manners and creates an overall safety issue when you are impeding traffic and don't know if your driving the legal speed limit. Further more the odometer reading is falsified because of this. This problem is well documented with all owners of honda vtx motorcycles, aftermarket companies are making money providing a repair solution because the dealer chooses to ignore that there's a problem and tells the consumer that the problem is normal. The fact that an aftermarket part called the speedo healer exists should be proof enough that there is a problem. The dealer should provide the fix for free, i shouldn't need to rely on an aftermarket company to provide accuracy on an important item such as my speedometer.
After starting the motorcycle, anddrivingfor 5 minutes motorcycleoverheated.dealerships mechanic was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
Leaking fuel valve on a 2004 honda vtx 1300. Exact same description as the 2007 model year.
Removed the front and rear wheels to have new tires installed.noticed the final drive flange bearings seal toward wheel, was torn open as if the seal had melted and the bearings were dry and very rough to turn.problem is, i replaced the bearings and felt resistance when turning the new bearings.read about this problem in one of the forums, removed the new bearings and ordered a second set.measured the bearing fit in the flange and it was .001" too close at the top and .002"at the bottom.had the flange machined to correct clearance and installed new bearings.just like it should have been from the factory, and i am very glad i found the problem before a deadly or costly incident occurred.
I have a 2004 honda vtx 1300c with 14,483 miles on it. I checked the bearings in rear wheel as i was putting a new tire on. The bearings are so bad it very hard to turn them by hand. I'm 51 years old and put over 300,000 miles on bikes. I've never seen anything like this in such a short time. I've been told that honda will not correct this problem so i will try to find better bearings to replace the stock ones that failed.
Rear wheel drive bearing is defective or installed incorrectly causing premature bearingfailure. This is a safety concern. Rear wheal bearing failure on a motorcycle is very dangerous.replacement of bearing and / or flange assembly.
2004 honda vtx 1300. Bearing flange failure on the rear wheel.approx. 50,000 miles before it got real noticeable real fast.the bearing flange cost 249.00.cant find a cross reference to the bearing used, so had to purchase the whole flange assy.
Rear flange bearing in final drive on 2004 honda vtx 1300 motorcycle. This bearing basically came apart in the rear end, and was discovered by a local tire seller. If i had continued to ride, it could have locked up the rear end, resulting in a very bad accident.
Dt: consumer bought a honda motorcycle vlx 600. Was not able to ride motorcyclebefore purchase. It had four speed manual transmission. In first gear the motorcycle will stall if it has notrevved to a high rpms. Consumer statedhe has almost been hit from behind when motorcycle stalled due to trying to follow a slow vehicle. When it revvedtoo high andconsumer released clutch then it snapped as if to ride a wheel. Consumer said that motorcycleneededfive gears, was unsafe with four.
There is a noticeable vibration on deceleration from approx 45 mph to about 30 mph. The vibration is to the front tire and is felt through the handlebars. The vibration has been reported by other owners with very little satisfaction from honda. This is a continuing problem that raises safety concerns since it is centered on the steering component.
The contact owns a 2004 honda vtx1300. The contact stated that the handle bar wobbled excessively when driving 35 mph and above. The contact changed the tires on the vehicle but that did not correct the failure. The dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that the steering stem bearings failed and needed replacement. The dealer stated this was a known problem. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 6,200.
I have a 2004 honda vtx 1300cc motorcycle, which has developed a large problem in the steering (wobble). This problem has been noted by hundreds of owners that i have seen on the web. I am replacing the front wheel bearings and the steering stem bearings to avoid being killed. That failure of the nhtsa to address this issue with honda is sickening. I guess people have to die before our wonderful government agencies will do their jobs; maybe not even then.
I have a 2004 honda vtx 1300 and while decelerating, usually between 50 and 30 miles per hour, the handle bars and front end starts to wobble.this is especially dangerous on a motorcycle.
The honda vtx 1300 has a front end steering wobble upon deceleration, 45-30 which can be fixed with tapered bearings that are used in the vtx 1800. Honda refuses to admit to the problem. My front end shakes a lot because of this. I only have 7,000 miles on the bike ,and there is no doubt in my mind this is a safety hazard. I do not take my hands off of the bars and it still shakes, and it is getting worse every day. Please look into this problem. It is a design flaw by honda and they should be made to recall and fix this problem....please.
Front end wobble on motorcycle. 40-45 mph with a relaxed grip on bars there is a "wobble" in the steering. If you remove grip from bars there is a very visible wobble generated in the front end of the bike. New head bearing will be installed shortly.
2004 honda vtx 1300 motorcycle front end wobbles badly . This happens all the time .
My front end wobbles bad when i'm slowing down. It happens on both city streets and highways.i replaced the front and back tires and had them balanced. Nothing changed. I've researched it and it's apparently a common problem with the 1300 models and replacing the upper and lower steering bearings with the ones used in the 1800 models fixes it. I've researched how to replace them and it requires special tools and the race for each bearing needs to be pressed in at a shop. I noticed that only 75 complaints have been registered. I still can't believe there's not a recall for this issue. I've seen a lot of people complaining about this online. I've had this issue for years and it keeps getting worse. I'm going to have to pay to get them replaced soon and i'm sure it's not going to be cheap after reading about how to do it. Thank you.
My motorcycle has a very dangerous wobble on deceleration from 45-35 mph i had to replace with after market parts to fix the problem.
Front end wobble between 40 and 45 mph.
Front end wobble on honda vtx 1300s 2004 model.
I own a 2004 honda vtx1300r motorcycle. There is a noticeable vibration on decel from an indicated speed of approx 45 mph to about 30 mph. The vibration is to the front tire and is felt through the handlebars.the vibration has been reported by other owners with very little satisfaction from honda. This is a continuing problem that raises safety concerns since it is centered on the steering component.
I own a 2004 honda vtx1300c motorcycleand in july of this year it developa front end wobble. When you let off the gas at around 35 to 45 mph the front end wobbles to the left and right. If you do not hang on, it will come out of your hands. I have replaced front tirestwice and rebalanced twice. No help.
Front end wobble vtx 1300.
There is a front fork wobble on my 2004 honda vtx motorcycle. This is coupled with extremely fast wear on the front tires. The wobble is most noticeable between 20 - 50 mph, and more prevalent when coasting to a stop. It is bad enough at time to cause a control issue when going around turns.
No lead up. A front end deceleration wobble developed in my honda vtx 1300s after about 5000 miles. It makes cornering difficult. I have read that a different style of steering head bearing solves the problem.
2004 honda vtx 1300c. Front end shake and wobble.the wobble is between 35-50 mph. New tapered bearings are recommended for the repair.
On 2004 honda vtx1300c motorcycle, front tire develops a severe shimmy when decelerating from 40-50 mph. Have reported problem to honda repair center and tech's state they do not know cause of problem where many forums one stated to replace front wheel bearings with vtx 1800 tapered bearings.
On 2004 honda vtx1300c motorcycle, front tire develops a severe shimmy when decelerating from 40-50 mph.have reported problem to honda repair center and tech's state they do not know cause of problem where many forums discuss issue in detail.
My 2004 honda vtx 1300c motorcycle has a front end wobble when cruising in the 35 mph to 45 mph range.
Just purchased this bike i'm 2nd owner, and while inspecting this bike i noticed that left side of front tire was completely worn but right side had tread, so i replaced with new dunlop tires front and rear and after driving having only 300 miles on bike one day i let go of left hand grip at 40 mph to scratch my nose and the bike front wheel began to wobble enough to really scare me. I called honda they said we know nothing about this problem, however getting on line with several vtx owners web-sites and discovered that this is a problem with the vtx 1300. I have new tires and vtx with less than 8000 miles on bike, seems like a manufacturing defect.
Honda vtx 1300c has a serious front end wobble that impedes the safe operation of this vehicle at speeds of 40 miles per hour. I have replaced tires and replaced fork springs/oil. Still front end shakes violently. This started around 7,000 miles .i'm currently at 20,000 and wanted to replace all parts before complaining.
My 2004 honda vtx 1300c has a bad vibration when decelerating from 50 to 40 mph.several time this has almost caused an accident due to vibration during a curve.according to my repair guy this is due to a poor design in the steering bearing in the triple tree on the 1300s.apparently the bearing used in the triple tree is not the same one used on the vtx1800 model which he says is a good one.
Mt 2004 honda vtxhas a serious front end wobble that impedes thesafe operation of this vehicle at speeds of 45 miles per hour.
Steering problem - steering wheel/handlebars:front handlebars wobble to the point of being uncontrolable at between speeds of 35 to 45 mph. This happened recently while exiting a highway and almost caused me to lose control of the motorcycle and end up going off of the highway. It is usually not as noticable when you hold on to the handlebar tightly with both hands, but when you hold it with one hand, or if you should have an occasion to let go all-together such as in an emergency situation, you may definitely have an accident if traveling at speed of 35 to 45 miles per hour, due to this obvious and common defect in this popular motorcycle.numerous other people have reported the same failure as i have experienced, with at least one having caused an accident. The manufacturer is well aware of the problem, but in the standard state of denial. I have tried at the suggestion different air pressures in the front tires to no avail. I have also recently been able to narrow the speed down to more likely to occur right around 40 mph.the consumer was going around a cornerat 45 mph and had an accident into a barrow pit.after the motorcycle was repaired it still had problems.the consumer purchased another motorcyle the same as the first and had the same problems.*tc
Around 40 miles an hour the front end starts to shake and will continue to do so on deceleration to about 30.since this is on a motorcycle and there are enough dangers riding i feel that this puts me in that much more danger.i have been in contact with other owners of this make of motorcycle and they also have confirmed this same problem.
Dt*: the contact stated the handle bar wobbled while traveling 47 mph.the dealership was contacted but was unable to determine the problem.
2004 honda vtx1300c front end wobble at 50 mph.
The motorcycle's handle bars will wobble when decelerating at speeds between 40 and 45 mph, causing an unstable feeling even when holding on with both hands. The honda dealer suggests this is a tire pressure issue, however this problem still occurs when the front and rear tires are inflated to the recommended pressures, 32 and 35 psi, respectively.research on the internet suggests this is a common problem that honda and/or dunlop (tire manufacturer) have not properly addressed.
Handle bar wobbled at 40-45 mph.
I have a complaint on the steering of my motorcycle 2004 vtx 1300 s. It wobbles at a 40-45 mph speed. It wasn't noticeable between my first 1,000 miles. After that it has been very noticeable and during my every day commute lots of lights, stop and go, it is a constant issue. I signed up on a motorcycle forum in the internet and i will say that 85-90% of this motorcycle owners have experience the same wobble. Some have corrected the problem by replacing the bearings with the higher cc sister motorcycle from honda the 1800cc. This is something that the dealership does not acknowledge because honda does not want to acknowledge the issue. I guess we need to have a fatality before they do.
The contact owns a 2004 honda vtx1300.while driving 40-70, the handle bar would shake.as a result, the contact had no control over the vehicle.the dealer stated that the tires caused the failure.they replaced the tires; however, the failure continued to occur.the current mileage was 15,000 and failure mileage was 600. Dt:consumer noticed that motorcycle was pulling to the right andtires wore out unevenlyon the left side much worse than the right. Also, motorcycle had a bad wobble in the front wheel. Consumer bought new tires from the same shop that he bought the motorcycle, hoping that this was being caused by the uneven wear of tires. This did not fix problem. Consumer said that front wheel was not in line with back wheel. Consumer measured distance.consumer took motorcycleback to shop where he purchased it several times and dealer stated that something was wrong, but they didn't knowwhat to do. Consumertalked to manufacturer and has not had his problem resolved.

2004 honda vtx1300c front end wobble at 50 mph.
There is a severe front end wobble when decelerating from 50+ mph. The entire front end shakes to the point that control is almost lost. It is also causing the tire on the front to wear unevenly and at a very fast rate. The bike has less than 6000 miles on it as of march of 2018.

Front end wobble on 2004 honda vtx 1300 motorcycle .
While driving45 mph motorcycle vibrated heavily. Consumer took the motorcycle to the dealership for inspection, however, mechanic couldnot duplicate the problem.

2004 honda st 1300 motorcyle.at higher speeds, bike has a uncontrollable wabble.multiple reports to honda go unanswered.similiar recall underway in europe for same problem. *mr

Front end wobble on honda vtx 1300s 2004 model.
2004 honda vtx1300 front end wobbles while decelerating from 35 to 45 mph.*mrthe bike was returned to the dealer who explained that the motorcycle was with specs.the consumer also saw similar complaints on a website.
The front end has no suspension.while driving the motorcycle hit a bump in the road and the passenger was almost thrown off.the dealer stated on 7/28/2003 there was no problem (honda vtx1300s 2004).*ph *ph *nlm
When slowing down between 40-45 mph the front end wobbles, have taken it to a dealer and they duplicated the problem and noted it, but could not find any thing out of tolerance.i believe this constitutes a safety hazard and could lead to loss of control ,resulting in injury and/or death.
I am experiencing a wobble with my hondo vtx 1300. Between 45 and 40mph on deceleration the bike has a significant wobble i feel is unsafe. I know many others with the same model experiencing the same problem. It is a handling safety issue.
Honda vtx 1300 s (retro). Front tire wobble when slowing down. Happens in curves also. The whole front of my motorcycle will shake.
Front end has a wobble/ hop between 30-45 mph.
Bike has a servere wobble/ virbration at highway speeds.
Front end wobbled on mt 2004 vtx1300. I have talked to honda corp and they deny any issues. I took it to the shop twice and they only came back to say it is the tires which it is not. There is something that is causing the tires ti wear the way they are. This is a major safty issue and these bikes should be recalled.
Removed rear wheel to replace tire and discovered that the bearing was rough. When it was removed, the inner bearing had 2 bearings missing and the cage was distorted. Outer bearing okay.
Replacing rear tire on 2004 honda vtx 1300c.checking wheel and flange bearings at this time.the flange bearings are rough turning and one bearing is falling apart.the motorcycle has only 16,000 miles on it.replacing flange bearings with a new set of aftermarket bearings.lucky to find the bearing problem when i did.this could have cause a fatal accident if the rear wheel would have locked up driving at highway speeds!!!this is not the first reported flange bearing failure.
Speedometer incorrect as verified with local law enforcement. 10% over actual speeds. Causes me to go slower than other traffic unintentionally. Angers drivers of other vehicles and places myself and my passenger in danger. This can be remedied with a speedo healer but why should i spend $100 to correct a defect in honda's design?
Speedometer read 10% higher than my actual speed causing a driving hazard. Since i am going 10% slower than the traffic, i can be hit in the rear.
The inaccurate speedometer on my brand new 2004 honda vtx 1300 causes traffic problems.i don't know my true speed which either causes people to tailgate me, pass unsafely or just plain piss them off.so i go faster than the speed limit according to my speedometer which pisses off my wife, and my kids who ride with me alot see this and get the wrong idea.you can not explain speedometer error to a child they see speed limit signs of 55 and then see daddy going 65-70.what kind of message is that.the dealer told me that all bikes are off 5-8 percent.every car i own is accurate, why should this bike be?
Since the day i bought the bike, the speedometer has read high by about 10% (checked by gps).if the speedometer reads 60mph, i am actually going about 54mph.doing the calculations in my head to get an accurate speed reading are a distraction and take my concentration off the road.when i first got the bike, that speedometer put me in a bad spot with cars passing me at thier normal to higher speeds while i was under the speed limit.a bad and dangeous combination that could lead to a crash with injuries or fatalities.there should be a recall.letters to honda have been ineffective.
Speedometer not reading correctly. I an driving 30 mph and speedometer reads 35 mph. Danger to safely merge with traffic and maintian safe legal speed.
My new honda shadow sabre motorcycle speedometer reads 10% higher than actual speed of vehicle.*la
Bike was purchased new and the speedomoter reads approx 10% higher than actual speed. Concerning myself with calculating speed while driving at highway speeds is a distraction. Cars constantly passing and discourteous as most often than not i am not maintaining an accurate posted highway speed. Some drivers have passed and cut in front in rage posing a serious danger to me and my passenger. Speed has been confirmed with a gps. Inquiries to my dealer, honda and internet based clubs or message boards have produced the same assessment. Dealer have stated that this is a normal condition in motorcycles...i own several cards both older and a 2005 and these are as accurate as they state to be. Products also exist on the market that can be purchased to correct a well known issue - referred to as "speedo healers".
10% diffrence in speedometor. I feel whil it is wrong i would be injured by look at it while riding and trying to calculate the diffrence in speed...am i going to fast faster than the speed limit allows...will it result in a crash as i try to gigure the diffrence of speed ... The dealer is unwilling to correct the problem... I have almost been hit on several ocassions one most recent.
1-problem existed since day one2-speedometer over states speed by 8%, resulting in drivers following tailgating, flashing high beams, and inducing road rage3-purchased gps which reports speed accurately for $400.
I have verified that my speedometer is off by at least 10% by using radar and a gps.since this is on a motorcycle and there are enough dangers riding i feel that this puts me in that much more danger due to the fact that i have to look down at the speedometer, then take that number and calculate my actual speed.i have been in contact with other owners of this make of motorcycle and they also have confirmed this same problem.
Speedometer reads approximately 10% high. Honda says it's normal.
This part is mounted to the rim of the motorcycle and connects to the drive shaft . The housing that the flange bearings press into is bored to tight causing the bearings to be crushed and not be smooth like they should be . I purchased brand new bearings and had the dealer put them in having the same problem as before .
The front wheel started to wobble and vibrate excessively. This caused the motorcycle to lock up, go straight, and end up in an accident at 55 mph. This was the second time in 48 hours that the same problem occurred. Taken to dealer for checkup, but their results showed that the cause wasundetermined.
Rear wheel drive bearing is defective or installed incorrectly causing premature bearingfailure. This is a safety concern. Rear wheal bearing failure on a motorcycle is very dangerous.replacement of bearing and / or flange assembly.
Radial ball bearing failure on final drive hub. Failure under normal wear on 3 different motorcycles, all failures happened under 5000 miles and even replacement parts new from oem had failed bearings before install. Part number is 91053-mn5-003 (bearing) and 42630-mch-000 (drive flange).this problem is being reported by dozens on a honda vtx internet board.many are finding that even new oem parts are defective as new parts before install.some have looked into why this problem happens and it is believed the tolerance in the flange is incorrect, causing the bearing to deform upon being press into the flange hub.also note that the model is not on the list for honda motorcycles on this board.i selected honda vtx 1300 as this is the model for this complaint, but the motor size should be 1800.
