About two months ago, my husband was cleaning my bike when he noticed some discoloration on the engine. Upon investigation, he found that the fuel valve on the gas tank was dripping gasoline. He contacted honda motorcycle customer service twice and both times was told my motorcycle was not included in the recall and that the recall was vehicle identification number (vin) specific. Due to the obvious safety concerns, i went ahead and ordered a new oem part on-line and paid for it. My husband spent two hours this weekend replacing the defective part. I consider leaking gasoline onto a hot engine a major safety concern. I also feel a recall for such an issue should not be vin specific. If this leak had not been caught when it was, it could have easily erupted into a full blown fire seriously injuring me or my husband as well as any innocent bystanders. I ask that someone please contact the honda corporation and see if they will expand their recall.
When i ride my motorcycle to work (18 miles) and park it in direct sunlight, it drips gas for 2-3 hours in the afternoon.a puddle of fuel forms under the bike.today i measured the puddle and it was approximately 3.5 inches by 6 inches.i have taken the bike to my local honda dealer 3 times and the problem continues.the first time was supposed to be for the factory recall to be performed to replace the defective fuel valve.
Approximately 2 months ago, i received a recall notice regarding the fuel diaphragm on my honda motorcycle.my dealer has not been able to get the parts for this repair.
Petcock is leaking gasoline on the gas tank.dealer and manufactuer says not in recall. Say must be repaired with new diaphram.
Fuel valve is leaking fuel onto engine block.motorcycle left out of recall for same problem in other models.no damage, wreck, etc to have caused leak.the valve itself is leaking as explained in honda's recall: http://powersports.honda.com/news/090111c080a99cef/2008/04/01/important-safety-and-emissions-recall-notice-2007-2008-model-year-vt750-motorcycles.aspximportant safety and emissions recall notice - 2007-2008 model year vt750 motorcyclesapril 1, 2008important safety and emissions recall notice dear honda owner:this notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act and the california air resources board.what is the reason for this notice?honda motor co., ltd. Has decided that a defect that is related to both motor vehicle safety and emissions regulations exists in certain 2007-2008 model year vt750 motorcycles. The affected units have an improperly manufactured fuel valve diaphragm and the fuel valve may drip fuel.safety consequencein the presence of an ignition source, dripping fuel poses a risk of fire.emission consequencefuel evaporating into the atmosphere will result in the motorcycle no longer meeting regulations. Your motorcycle may fail a state or local emissions inspection if you do not have this recall repair done.what should you do?please call your authorized honda motorcycle dealer and make an appointment to have the fuel valve diaphragm on your motorcycle replaced free of charge. Although the repair will take less than one hour, please plan to leave your motorcycle for at least one day to allow the dealer flexibility in scheduling.for whatever reason the vin on my vt750ca honda shadow aero does not have a recall for this issue according to the local dealer.
The fuel started leaking on the motor in the on and reserve selection. It also made my chrome clutch coverpeel up.
The contact owns a 2007 honda vt750 shadow aero. While driving approximately 70 mph, the motorcycle stalled without warning.
