Rear brake locked up due to defective secondary master cylinder .

The incident is similar to the one listed below related to the gl1800the rear brake started to slow down the vehicle without being applied. The vehicle came to a sudden stop when it reached below 10 mph (at a traffic light). It became difficult to drive and had to be towed back home. The local dealer is looking into the situation and discussing the issue with honda.make: hondamodel: gl1800 model year: 2007 manufacturer: honda (american honda motor co.) mfr's report date: dec 01, 2011 nhtsa campaign id number: 11v567000n/anhtsa action number: n/acomponent: service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:master cylinder summary:honda is recalling certain model year 2001-2010, and model year 2012 gl1800 goldwing motorcycles. Under certain conditions, there is a possibility that the combined braking system's secondary master cylinder may cause the rear brake to drag.consequence:unexpected braking increases the risk of a crash, and riding the motorcycle with the rear brake dragging may generate enough heat to cause the rear brake to catch fire. Remedy:honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the secondary master cylinder and if necessary, replace it, free of charge. The safety recall began on january 6, 2012. Owners may contact honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870.

Riding on collier county, fl. 951..motorcycle slowed down. Pulled into left turn lane and engine stalled.bike completely stopped. Rear brake hose exploded.caused by rear caliper brake seizing and overheating fluid. Lost brake fluid and minor fire. Suspect secondary master cylinder seized causing rear caliper to seize causing brake fluid to boil and blow off rear brake hose. Bike would not move. Collier county sheriff deputies stopped to check.after cooling off rear brake released. Limped home with only front brakes. Motorcycle towed on trailer to florida motorsports, naples, fl. Talked to randy athonda america customer service.still waiting to hear from dealer or honda america.
