A sudden unintended acceleration resulted in a crash 1-08-2020 at 6:55 am.this occurred while pulling into a parking space. While breakingthe vehicle head lights went out, engine rpm suddenly increased dramatically causing vehicle to strike light pole, which fell to the side of vehicle. This resulted in to be determined vehicle and property damage.

Driving at about 55 mph, my 2019 honda ridgeline's airbags didn't deploy when i hit a 2015 ford focus that failed to yield the right of way and cut infront of me.honda sensing's collision mitigation braking system and forward collision warning failed to alert me and failed to stop my vehicle either.

On 8/24/20 i heard a clicking noise in my steering wheel when turning at low speeds or parking. I didn't think much of it until seeing that many hondas have this issue. The issue seemed lined to the clock spring. I made an appointment at joe morgan honda in monroe, oh on 8/29/20 for 8/31/20. Joe morgan honda confirmed that the issue was the clock spring aka cable reel. The invoice is attached. Joe morgan honda explained that if i had let the issue go longer, the noise would have gotten worse. Eventually the steering wheel buttons and horn would lose power, as well as the steering wheel air bag. This is where the major safety issue comes into play. Joe morgan honda contacted the tech line upon confirming the issue. This has happened, and is happening on other ridgelines. Honda is telling customers this is normal. Loss of power to the air bag would cause it not to deploy in the event of an emergency. I have video of the clicking noise prior to the repair. I have also opened a case with honda customer service.

Wire harness to backup camera is faulty causing camera screen failure to detect persons or objects.

Wiring harness broke at tail gate hinge. Harness fails dues to flexing when tailgate is opened and closed. Rear camera fails to operate. Can no longer to objects or pedestrians when backing up. Did not see any object on the screen and almost back into a pedestrian in a parking lot.

Backup camera which is a mandatory saftey feature stopped working.wiring harness where it enters the tailgate was pinched and wires severed.this was fixed under warranty.dealer stated there is a technical bulletin to route the wiring harness differently to minimize this issue.there are plenty of complaints on the honda ridgeline forums of backup cameras failing due to wiring harness issue.please investigate as i believe honda should be offering an extended warranty on the wiring harness as this is a mandatory safety feature that is not reliable.

Vehicle had had a rodent due to the wires long story short through the next day i got a light and things were not driving right and i got it to the dealer thank god. Cost me roughly 250 to 300 to have it repaired on my own dime because they said a rodent chewed the wire. I see and hear from other honda owners that is a major problem with soy based wires. I do not consider an animal a natural act. It's a pest therefore you child-proof that you do not leave wires on the bottom open to areas that a animal can get to the chew. I feel honda should be looked at since they know of this problem they saw hot and deterrent capacity type tape to deter rodents. How do i not know one of those components is not going to be something that is life limb or eyesight next time and that one next little wire that that road and choose to is going to cause an accident? please address thank you.

While driving info management system stops working, freezes then goes blank. Lose all digital indications on drivers display and nav cues. Would briefly flash every few seconds as though it was trying to restart. Has done this twice now in a new truck of only 26k miles. This occurred in motion and persisted until the vehicle was turned off and restarted. Dealer says without a 'code' they cannot do anything. Extremely dangerous loss of info while driving.

Wire harness to backup camera is faulty causing camera screen failure to detect persons or objects.

The backupcamera has failed. The issue is wear and tear of an exposed portion of the wiring harness at the left tailgate hinge. The plastic housing containing the wires is exposed, breaks open, andexposing the wires supplying power to the camera and possibly other items. These wires continue to flex andeventually break. This is important because backup cameras are now part of he vehicles safety system. Failure causes the vehicle to become more unsafe. I believe that there should be a recall to inspect the wiring harness and replace if deemed defective.

The contact owns a 2019 honda ridgeline. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to west hills honda (520 w hills blvd, bremerton, wa 98312) to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact referenced the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 21v215000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

There is a persistent smell of fuel after my ridgeline is warmed up/driven and then parked.the garage itself will smell strongly of gas afterwards and those fumes get pulled into the cabin via the fresh air intakes.when inspecting the engine bay, its smells far more strongly on the passenger side of the engine bay than the drivers.

Smell of gas in the cabin at engine startup.dissipates within about 30 seconds.

Strong fuel odor coming from the engine compartment which is drawn in through the hvac vents while stopped. It also makes my garage smell like gasoline for hours after the vehicle is shut off. The dealer said they couldn't find a fuel leak. It doesn't do it every time, but most of the time. It's not only nauseating, but also embarrassing because it makes my new honda smell like an old car with a gas leak.

When turn on the engine has a rare sound like a combustion. Meet the technitian in honda and he say that is not normal but happens in some ridgelines

Truck is getting gas fumes into the cabin intermittently.smell comes through the a/c-heater vents.does not happen when outside air circulation is shut off.making owner get headaches and feel ill.has been to the dealer twice for this, of which they have not established the issue.this is common for this maker and they have had other class action lawsuits regarding this.happens when the truck is running.can be when driving or sitting and idling.can be at any location.occasional feul smell outside the vehicle as well when truck is shut off.

The contact owns a 2019 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving and making a left turn, the vehicle failed to accelerated. No waring light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred four times. The vehicle was taken to gerald jones hondadealer, (4022 washington rd, augusta, ga 30907, (706) 740-6058) and was diagnosed but could not find a failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,700.

Hard shifting between lower and upper gears while driving. Happened mostly when accelerating from a stop sometimes on a turn.otherwise functioned ok. Dealer replaced the secondary valve body and remedied the situation. All under warranty

The contact owns a 2019 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving approximately at 50 mph, the vehicle crashed into a second vehicle causing severe damage to the front end. During the crash, the front driver seat belt pretensioner failed and did not secure the driver causing the driver to slide down the seat during impact. The driver sustained an injured left arm and injured upper torso which required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 26,700.

My ridgeline brakes provide a firm solid brake action with very little pedal travel when the temp is below 70 but after warmup, both vehicle and outside air temp warms to plus 70 degrees, the brakes turn into mushy soft and extremely long pedal travel. The honda accord, civic, odyssey, and crv do not do this. The entry-level accord has most of the same systems that the rl has. No matter what trim level you have, 2wd or awd, when temps rise above 70 the brakes are frustrating poor to horrible. My honda dealership manager and the service manager both drove mine rl and we test drove several others. They confirm exactly the same braking experiences. The position of the service department appears to be that honda intended to make the rl with inconsistent, temp sensitive and excessive pedal travel as "okay" when the climate becomes warm to hot. This condition is unacceptable. This vehicle has been to dealership 5 times with this complaint.

The contact owns a 2019 honda ridgeline. The contact stated while attempting to park in a parking space, the vehicle independently accelerated while the brake pedal was depressed. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a wall. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained some body soreness but no medical attention was required. The vehicle was drivable but the insurance company had the vehicle towed to a local body shop. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that they would have to contact their insurance company. The failure mileage was 30,000. The vin was unavailable.

Brakes are extremely soft approaching a controlled intersection.

The brake pedal is very mushy with quite a bit of travel and it happens all the time. Never had this issue before with any other vehicles.

The brake pedal goes to the floor and requires pumping to restore to half way. This is extremely dangerous when driving in snowy conditions and the dealer states this is normal for honda ridgelines. The vehicle will not stop without pumping the brakes when driving on the highway.

Honda ridgeline, 2019, honda sensing, was turning into a parking spot in front of a bldg, 1/2 way in, the sensing, sensed something? the big yellow light comes on the dashwith the words "brake", truck comes to a complete halt, i was slightly jerked forward, the truck was at a complete stop, 1/2 in 1/2 out or parking spot, diagonally, my hands on the wheel, i then just lightly touched the gas petal to move forward and park, but the truck resumed to full speed and ran me into the wall, about 15 feet in front of me.i could not do anything, the cruise control was not on, the gas pedal was not floored, the computer just told it to resume the speed. The air bag deployed, my hands were hurt... I was alone on the street.

Brakes pushed almost to the floor and the vehicle didn't stop, hitting another vehicle.

The contact owns a 2019 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that while attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal extended to the floor. The failure had occurred while making sudden stops, or while the vehicle was idle while on an incline. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer apple honda located at 1226 carlisle st, hanover, pa 17331 who replaced the brake master cylinder and brake vacuum pump however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100. The vin was invalid.

Not sure that it's so much of a safety issue,as it is a black paint issue. I bought the truck in the early part of may 2019. I washed it a week later and noticed black bubbles toward the drivers back window. When i had problems getting the truck to pass emissions. I took it to the dealership. I pointed it out to the saleswoman. She didn't say much. So today i washed my truck again. Noticed 2 chips down to the primer on the hood. I took pics. I know we have a 7 year warrantee on the paint and interior. My problem is i'm afraid the repaint will not be nor last as long as the original paint job. I paid 53k for the truck with 6 miles on it. Now i'm the one with the burden that it might have to be repainted. I feel they need to look at their black paint. Make sure that the paint is reliable. I took pics. They could be better. I can take more. I'd also be willing to take the truck down so they can analyze the paint.

The hood flutters at certain times under turbulence at freeway speeds. It only happens when conditions are perfect so the dealer refuses to fix because he can't duplicate it. It happens in gusty winds or when driving around semitrucks.

The hood vibrates and bounces at highway speeds as if the hood is not completely latched. Also, the hood does not latch easily. It takes considerable force to get the hood latch to secure. The honda dealership, where the vehicle was purchased, was notified of this on two separate occasions. The first was when the vehicle was brought in for the fuel pump inspection recall. On this visit the hood bolts were torqued to spec. The second time, an inspection of the hood revealed the adhesive holding the hood bracing had separated from the hood. It also showed the hood hook was hitting the hood latch off center (scratches on one side of the hook) making it difficult to close and latch securely.

The hood moves up and down while driving at highway speeds.especially when encountering strong wind gusts.for instance, if the wind is blowing hard or when you meet semi trucks going in the opposite direction.the movement is significant and very noticeable.the first time it happened i stopped to make sure the hood was latched.there is a technical service bulletin for this problem (tsb 17-083) and dealer applied some adhesive in accordance with the tsb.it seemed to help, but did not eliminate the movement.i am concerned that down the road the hood could come apart or come off.

The hood on the 2019 honda ridgeline always jumps up ad down and vibrates violently at highway speeds. It is very unsettling since it is only held by a very lightwieght latch with a lightweight rivet to to the frame. I expressed this concern to the dealership wheni took it in for the fuel pump inspection recall. They reattached the rubber gasket on the hood but there is no change in this problem . My concern is that the latch will let go under this stress and the hood will fly up on the highway.

The hood vibrates and bounces at highway speeds as if the hood is not completely latched.

Hood flutters on highway. Happens more during windy conditions but can happen anytime while driving on highway. Looks like the hood is going to blow open. Brought it to dealership last year, they said they couldn't find an issue and did nothing.

The contact owns a 2019 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving at 75 mph, the hood started to vibrate. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called honda cars of katy (21001 katy fwy, katy, tx 77450, (832) 772-4483), was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted or informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.

The contact owns a 2019 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that the tailgate door could not be opened from the left to right position. The contact indicated that when the failure occurred, the spare tire was not accessible. West broad honda(7014 w. Broad st, henrico, va) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 1,900.

2019 honda ridgeline. Consumer writes in regards to issue with wheel alignment. *ldthe consumer stated the vehicle was manufactured without the adjustment mechanism within the ball joint control arm. This prevents an alignment from being performed.

One common misunderstanding in discussions i see on 2017-19 ridgeline cmbs and acc while in active traffic, is that the ridgeline honda sensing system does not function the same as acura or any honda car.the ridgeline acc disengages at 22 mph and to the best of my understanding affects the cmbs, delaying full engagement.furthermore, ridgeline cmbs on it's own engages dramatically late even when set at max distance, in my opinion ineffective for crash mitigation.driver switching from a subaru with eyesight to ridgeline with honda sensing for example in my opinion, constitutes a safety hazard.i have ridgeline cmbs turned off until i get clarification from anyone at honda who is more interested in safety rather than liability.american honda motor company will discuss this verbally only and very guardedly with little or no discussion how the cmbs system functions on ridgeline.this begs the question, why offer cmbs and acc when it only tells you are about to have a collision rather than brake to a stop, almost like a radar detector informing you that you are about to get a ticket.a visit to my honda dealer 5-2-19 confirms they found no codes or problems with the honda sensing system and are unable to offer further assistance.

The contact owns a 2019 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that a toxic chemical type odor was present in the storage compartment in the bed of the truck. Butler honda (2631 north columbia st, milledgeville, ga) examined the vehicle but the cause of the odor could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 10.

Upon startup, a raw fuel odor will enter the cabin.it usually doesnā€™t happen the first time it starts during the day but can be noticed upon repeated start up attempts.we often notice it when idling for a time as well.sometimes a strong fuel odor is noticed when outside of the truck, even after parking it in the garage.i have taken it to two honda dealers and they have not been able to replicate the issue.to keep the odor out of the cabin, we keep the fan on recirculate.we have had this problem since we bought the truck new in january 2020, as i noticed a strong odor in the garage after driving it home.i think we noticed it in february or march that year coming into the cabin through the heater.it also smells when it blows cold air, but it doesnā€™t happen all the time.

My dashboard on my 2019 honda ridgeline is melting. It causes a glare that is reflected off of the windshield and into the drivers eyes. The honda factory representative said they will not replace it! this vehicle is only three months old with 4302 miles on the odometer! it was determined to be inferior materials in other auto manufacturers vehicles!

Leaking water on rear passenger side window, called the c pillar leak that is widespread. Mine happens after going through a car wash. Started like a trickle of water down and eventually gets worst. This is my 2nd 2019 ridgeline first one had a similar leak and they swap it due to lemon law application after dealer failed to fix after 2 attempts. Now i an having the same problem with the new one. Honda either unresponsive or not offering any customer service, certainly a factory defect that need to be corrected by tsb properly. Dealer is trying but honda need to be waken up. I searched google and it has happen to other people to.
