Passenger air bag recall issue. I was told i can't have any front passengers in vehicle since airbag is defective and it will be at least 60 days for replacement. I have contacted honda via the 800 number and the local dealer to get the airbag replaced but they say the car is not covered because it is not registered in a humid southern state (it is registered in virginia, which actually has very hot and humid summers).i told them that i frequently travel to the south and asked for the data and science on how much exposure causes the screws in the airbag to rust and become dangerous - they have nothing to provide but "an estimate."i want my airbag replaced under the recall which is supposed to cover all 2006 ridgelines. I am not comfortable driving the vehicle now, knowing that a number of the faulty airbag deployments and injuries actually took place outside the states covered by the recall.i have also notified my attorney of my concern and my attempts to get help from honda.

Honda of ocala knows my vehicle has a recall but has my truck on a waiting list.when i call them for the status of the parts they are waiting for i am told that the parts are not in and they will call me.this has been going on for a year.

I just took my truck in for the airbags recall about 2weeks ago, october q2th, 2017. Since i've gotten it back the windshield wipers don't work as good as they dud and i just put new wipers on before i took it into auto nation honda in columbusga. Now there's a greasy film on the windshield that i can't get off. Also there's another recall the dealership didn't acknowledge, fuel pump relay, so there's a recall for my truck for that part and hasn't been taken care of so i feel my safety is at stake, i also have a 4year old daughter.

I received notification in july 2016 via a letter from honda of a recall for airbags in my 2006 honda ridgeline. I promptly contacted my local honda dealership in carson city, nv. It is now october 31st and afteralmost 3 months, 5 attempts to schedule and one cancelled appointment by the dealership i am still on a list. The recall is described as metal fragments becoming projectiles if the airbags are inflated therefore possibly causing injury. There is only one honda dealer in the local area.

Takata recall. Received recall notice in early july. Made appointment at livermore honda for aug 1 specifically referring to recall notice. Received several emails over a period of several weeks from the honda dealer reminding me of my appointment and referring to the specific recall. Went to the appointment this morning and was told that the parts hadn't been ordered. What did they think the appointment was for? they said it would be 2 to 3 weeks before the part comes in and they would call me to set up a new appointment. It doesn't seem that the dealer is trying to remedy the defect in a reasonable period of time. It has cost me time and money to say nothing of possible danger because of ttheir inaction.

While driving about 50 miles an hour, i came upon a curve too fast which caused me to slide off the road slightly. I corrected my error and in doing so, both side curtain airbags deployed prematurely. No other air bags deployed and there was no damage to the vehicle. The dealers report stated that the vehicle sensors thought a rollover crash was imminent which caused the side air bags to deploy. There was no damage of any kind to the vehicle and the side air bags should not have deployed. America honda says they have no responsibility or obligation to correct this defect.

Takata recall -when i called the honda dealership in ames they said they could not find my information in their data base.after i gave them my phone number, name, and vin number.it was not a pleasant experience.i would also like to complain about the brakes on my truck.i took it to the local mechanic and he could not get the brakes adjusted to where there was not very much play in the pedal.you have to push down a long ways for the brakes to engage.it is a big safety issue.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact was in the emergency lane when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction crashed into his vehicle head on. The driver was injured and transported to the hospital.a police report was filed.the dealer nor manufacturer were notified. The failure and current mileage was 68,000.

Takata recall.my car is under recall and could explode even in a minor crash. To repair it it will cost me rental car.

Honda is only recalling my make and model in certain geographical areas due to their perception of the humidity in those areas.the humidity in maryland where i live in the summer can be just as bad asgeorgia's.they should be recalling my vehicle in maryland just as they are in other states.please make them recall my vehicle. Thank you.

Takata recall- i have been on the waiting list since july 2016 and honda has refused to give me a rental in the meantime. They have never even called back to let me know a status update or when they expect to have the part in. Now they sent me another notice to get it fixed, as if i haven't been waiting nearly 9 months for them to fix it.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that the service engine sensor, vtm sensor, esc sensor, and the air bag sensor intermittently illuminated and flashed. The failure worsened and all four sensors remained illuminated while the vehicle was in motion. In addition, the all wheel drive was not functioning properly. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who reset the code. When the three failure codes came back, it was diagnosed that one of the three banks needed to be replaced for the catalytic converter on the front driver side. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v700000 (air bags), 14v353000 (air bags), and 14v351000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 173,000.

I contacted checkered flag honda on 7/8/16 to schedule corrective action on the air bag recall.i was told that the parts would be ordered and they would contact me when they were received in order to schedule the repair.on 9/2/16, i had not yet heard from them, so i called to see what the status.i spoke with technician [xxx], who informed me that the parts had not even been ordered yet. I just received an email from [xxx]confirming that they are now on order, but to have this action unnecessarily delayed is unacceptable.this is the only vehicle in which i can transport my severely disabled mother to her many doctor appointments, and the recall directly affects the seat she occupies.i would appreciate anything you could do to ensure the delivery is expedited and the service is completed as soon as possible.thank you.the number to the dealership we contacted is [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takatarecallwe have been notified of the problem with both driver and passenger airbags. As of this date we have been told the parts are not available to make the repair. I am afraid of driving my ridgeline for fear of injury or death. The same goes for the passenger airbag.. Also the electrical system could cause a fire. Honda needs to rectify these issues as soon as possible, before someone is injured or killed! they need to fix or replace this vehicle or exchange it for a safe one.

My srs light is on...service tech had several codes : 11-40open in drivers air bag inflatorand 41-11 no signal from impactthe light actuated after the completion of the air bag recall service.the estimated cost is $1666 to repair i want honda motors and/or tagatta (?) to make the repair at their cost.date first appeared is not known.....i entered 1-1-18 below.....might have been earlier or later

The vehicle stopped after being turned off. A police report was filed an no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed and repaired; however, the diagnosis was unknown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,000.

Honda sendalready 3 safety recall notices in more than a year close to 2 years. And they still no got the spare parts.

'takata recall' i had my airbags replaced for recall. I recently had a collision and air bags did not deploy. Injuries consisted of chest, ribs and arm. My frustrations with honda have been a constant since i've had vehicle. Other issues like blow hearter wires smoking and catching fire burning my ex wifes leg. Too many details to write.

2006 honda ridgeline. Consumer received recall notice, but has yet to hear back from the dealership regarding an appointment to have vehicle repaired. *ss

This information is regarding the already existing air bag recall by honda. I received arecall notice in the mail today (april 15, 2015) and called my local dealer for an appointment. The earliest appointment was july 10, 2015. Because this is a safety recall notice, i called honda customer service and inquired as to why a safety issue recall would take nearly 3 months to remedy. I was told that most patrons are waiting longer than that and he ([xxx]) was surprised that i actually got a specific appointment. He said there is a supply backlog of replacement air bags. I replied that with a safety issue such as this, and given the resources of honda motor co., they should do whatever is necessary to expedite the process. Are customers supposed to drive their vehicles not knowing if a catastrophic occurrence could happen at any time? my question for nhtsa is are you aware of this repair delay and have you demanded that honda expedite the process? thank you.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Nhtsa recall 14v-351,safety recall letter dated april 2015.i have called the local honda dealership (brannon honda - birmingham al) many times since april 2015 and every time they claim that honda has not sent them the parts to fix these death dealing air bags.apparently, the nhtsa is merely an afterthought to honda!how is one supposed to get the problem with these air bag systems corrected???

Nothing has happened, i'm just troubled that i was notified almost a year ago that my vehicle has a known safety issue that may injure me or others as i drive. To date i have been to the dealership 3 times & been told that they are short of parts & i just have to wait. No communication, no accommodation & no concern for my safety as i have driven over 50,000 miles since the recall.vin #[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dt*:the contact stated while driving at 20 mph on normal road conditions, the driver and passenger side airbags unwarrantly deployed.no accident was involved and no injuries were reported.the airbag warning light did not illuminate prior to the deployment.the dealer was contacted who determined the unwarranted deployment was due to mud located underneath the vehicle.pictures were taken by the dealership.

"takata recall" - written recall received from honda - i have called on september 14, november 1 and december 5 of 2016.dealer states parts are not available!

Traveling at 65 mph in early morning hours before daylight, i hit a cow that was standing on the side of the road. The impact was severe enough to stop my trucks engine andthe emergency lights would not work. The radiator was punctured by the engine. The impact was at the right frt. Headlamp. There was enough impact that the fender peeled all the way back to the frt. Door. The windshield shattered but stayed in place. The hood peeled back all the way and rested on the windshield and roof. The my passenger air bag deployed but not the drivers side. The side air bags did not deploy even after the cow hit off both side doors. Hard enough to not allow the rear door to open.

On april 24,2007, i accidentally rear-ended a vehicle stopped at a stoplight. I sustained some moderate front end damage but it was not a serious accident. It is the operation of the srs that i have tried to have honda explain.neither the service manager, factory field service representative, nor the honda america customer service personnel have adequately answered my question as to whether my driver's airbag is functional. At the time of the accident, the driver's seat belt tensioner did lock and the passenger's side airbag did deploy although there was nothing in the passenger's seat. However, the driver's airbag did not deploy. Aside form the cost of replacing the unnecessarily deployed passenger airbag and the fact that the factory replacement part did not match my dashboard color, my major concern has been whether or not the driver's airbag was, or still is, functional. There are no error codes on the computer nor lights on the dashboard to indicate a problem. Answers to our questions to honda about this have not been adequate and long in coming. Aside from an actual crash test how can one be sure that an airbag is functional in light of the fact that it did not deploy when the passenger's airbag and the tensioner lock did deploy? when they snicker at my wife that," since no one was injured, everything must be functioning properly", i do not feel that i am being taken seriously. What is the nhtsa experience regarding srs operation?

I was involved in a front end collision. I was the only occupant. The passenger side air bag deployed, and the drivers side did not.

2006 honda ridgeline 55-60mph impact to my drivers side front endmy drivers side airbags did deployedbut passenger did causing injuries during the crash.i'm very concerned why the airbags did not deploy on the side of impact, the driver side. This leaves me rather curious over finding an explanation as to what happened? what will you need to know to determine whether this may be a trend or flaw in the safety of the new ridgeline or some other reasonable explanation?

5 car crash in anchorage alaska.i was driver of 2006 honda ridgeline.i was in the middle, two cars behind and two cars in front.i was rear-ended and then rear-ended the car in front ofme.there was approximately $14,000 worth of damage to my vehicle.i was sitting at a complete stop, in morning traffic, at a red light.my airbag deployed on the passenger side, but my front-driver airbag failed to deploy.the on-scene police officers could not believe that the airbag did not deploy.the fire department was there, made me get out from behind the wheel & move to the passenger seat because they felt the airbag should have deployed, felt it was defective & were afraid it would deploy whilesitting there.i contacted honda products department and filed a complaint, where i was told that "airbags" are not that important.i requested that someone from honda come and look at the sensor & airbag while the vehicle was being fixed.they declined.i contacted the local honda dealership & they stated they could not send someone out to look at it and provided the number where i was told it was not important.i suffered back injuries (herniated disc), left shoulder, left knee, severe whiplash.i have had a caudel steroid injection into my lumbar area and dealing with severe headaches.my autobody repair person tried to get honda to look at the vehicle because he felt it was defective and it should have deployed upon impact as the passenger side did.honda refused to look at the vehicle, the auto adjuster of the liable insured paid for a new sensor, but they refused to replaced the airbag, which i believe to be defective.the adjuster actually thought the airbag should have deployed, but since honda refused to acknowledge a problem (because they could not take the time to look), i feel that i am left with a defective airbag.

2006 honda ridgeline air bag failed to deploy. Customer states that he was in an accident and the driver side air bag failed to deploy but the passenger air bag did deploy.

Raining, traveling north, far right lane on very busy street in los angeles (sepulveda) when a car traveling south turned left.we did head-on impact into the side of his car.his airbag deployed - ours did not - but the most concern is that the front passenger-side seat belt malfunctionedthus allowing the impact to throw me forward and on the impact striking my head on windshield or visor and both knees and lower legs on dash; then thrown back into seat resulting in wrenched back and neck, knocking air out of me.the seat belt was locked into an extra-large position when car stopped.the driver-side seat belt had no problems and driver was not injured.

My brand new, honda ridgeline provided a less-than impressive performance. With a 45 mph impact to my front end - driver side, and door, my seat belt kept me from serious injury. Not the airbag, since the only one that deployed was the passenger side! yes, the police, paramedic's, accident investigators and tow truck driver were all were curious about my ridgeline and were very concerned that the airbags did not deploy on the side of impact, the driver side.having 2 children, six and two years old, it is imperative that i have a vehicle that is considered as the safest in its class.i have been left with significant concern over any other unexpected problems that the honda ridgeline may reveal. This leaves me rather curious over finding an explanation as to what happened? what will you need to know to determine whether this may be a trend or flaw in the safety of the new ridgeline or some other reasonable explanation?

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact statedthat while driving approximately 60 mph, she was involved in a t-bone type of crash with another vehicle. The passenger air bag deployed but the driver side air bag did not. The vehicle was damaged on the front driver's side. The contact was injured and transported to the hospital via ambulance. A police report was available. The vehicle was towed by the manufacturer to a collision center. The dealer advised the air bags deployed exactly as they were designed to. The contact's insurance company disputed the claim. The failure and current mileages were approximately 125,000.

I was involve on an accident where the other car failed to yield at a stop sign and t-bone my honda ridgeline truck. Side airbag never deployed. I was going around 35-40 mph and in my opinion he was going at least 25-30mph. Called honda and said that they do not have any recall for this problem. They should.

Passenger door locks will not unlock leaving children unable to get out of car in case of emergency.

I own a 2006 honda ridgeline which i purchased new from the honda dealership in hempstead, new york. On december 15, 2010, i was driving on utopia parkway in queens, new york when i noticed a burning smell. I had the heat on and turned it off. I pulled over to check where the smell was coming from. I saw smoke coming from the glove compartment area, i immediately called 911. When i opened the hood, there were flames coming from the same area. I have reported this to honda. After doing some research online, i find that this same thing has happened to a number of 2006/2007 honda ridgeline owners. It is obvious there is some kind of defect and not just a coincidence. I am waiting for honda to get back to me.

The maintenance minder display started blinking and then went blank at times. Dealer says to repair it requires replacing the entire instrument display at a cost of $575. Without the display you have no odometer and no door open or other indicators.

The ac fan ceased to function.dealer said wire supplying power to ac fan had burned through, thus preventing power to fan motor.dealer said it needed a new wiring harness.burning wire inside dash is a potential fire hazard.

After shutting off the ridgeline i filled the fuel tank.upon starting the vehicle again the yellow engine emission display light was lit and the navigation system/radio displayed a notice requiring a code.the code was entered after finding the code location in the manual.within a few minutes of driving on the freeway, we started smelled hot or burning or melting electric wire insulation.the windows were opened to vent the smell.it soon cleared up.we stopped at the next exit to inspect the vehicle.we could not locate the source of the melting wire smell.after about three more engine stop/start cycles, the engine emission warning display light went off.the honda dealer service person said they had not heard of this problem.

Blower motor on my 2006 honda ridgeline melted created smoke so im sure there was a flame but very bad smell and lots of smoke . I do have old part but i have not replace it yet just don't use ac anymore but we really need it since i live in texas and its end of july. Can smell burning as soon as its turned on.

The air conditioner stopped blowing air. While researching the issue i found a recall for the hvac blower fan. This vin number model is displaying the same symptoms as the recall for the hvac blower. I called the dealer and they said that my vin model number doesn't have a recall or a recall for this issue. I think is a valid recall because it is pretty much doing the same thing.

Heater blower motor stopped working, smelled hot, put a test lite on for power, no power to resistor, unplugged resistor, checked blower motor had power, tried to unplugged wire from blower motor, took blower motor outto try and unplug, wire was burned to plug in, finally got plug removed plastic was melted into wiring, wiring harness needs replaced. Noticed this was a recall at one time, was driving hiway speed when blower stopped and then i could smell it getting hot wire did smoke.

On 5 nov 09, i attended a business meeting in deerfield beach.when i was ready to return to west palm beach, i turned on the truck ignition to start it and it made a couple of clicks and nothing happened.i automatically assumed it was the battery since it was over four years old and the hot weather in florida takes its toll on batteries.i also noticed that the instrument cluster did not light up when i attempted to start it but i thought it was because the battery was dead.i called aaa and they arrived an hour later and jump started the vehicle.the engine turned over several times like it wasn't getting enough fuel but then started on the second attempt.the aaa representative agreed that he thought the battery was dead and needed replaced.i started to leave and noticed the instrument cluster still did not light up except for the battery display, the vtm display and one other display i cannot remember.i immediately drove to the dealership and explained what had happened and after significant troubleshooting it was determined that the instrument cluster somehow shorted out and needed to be replaced to the tune of $900+.

Driving vehicle smelled smoke, pulled over parked, saw smoke and flames in passenger vent and passenger a pillar. Used fire extinguisher to put out fire. Fire department and police department arrived on scene and determined no additional flames however when key turned to on position flames reappeared. Car towed. Like complaint 10216065 filed 1/25/2008 and similar to complaint 10144782 filed 11/25/2005.

On 1/9/18, while my husband was driving on a local road in fairmont, wv the dashboard on the passenger's side started smoking. My husband and his friend, stopped the car and exited the car immediately and called 911. Within minutes the smoke turned into a flame. The first responder was a police officer who did not have a fire extinguisher. It took ~10-15 minutes from the call for the fire truck to arrive and the cab of the car was consumed by the fire. It was put out but the entire cab was destroyed and hood and top of car were burned. We have notified honda corporate. They documented our complaint but nothing else has been done. Please see video below after the fire was put out:https://drive.google.com/file/d/0bwnkdo9rn4drv3pqbkfueusyavc4rejpqwzvzno3u0i1dgxv/view?usp=sharingconcerning recall:http://www.leftlanenews.com/recall-for-honda-ridgeline-electrical-fire-issue.html

I own a 2006 honda ridgeline. I was notified of a possible recall for the odometer being defective but when i brought it to my dealer i was told that my truck was not affected yet my odometer has been off since day one which does not seem to matter to the dealer, the odometer always has read up too 10 miles more per tank full of gas then my gps unit does which in a week can ad up to 40 miles extra on the odometer that i have not yet traveled. How can i get my odometer and mileage corrected? thank you.

Leading event -i've driven my 2006 honda ridgeline without incident since i bought it in august 2005.last week, one day my ac worked the next day my ac stopped blowing.the failure - i just had exactly the same problem others have had with my 2006 honda ridgeline rtlmy ac went out on the 29th of july, 2009.the honda dealer is telling me the blower motor connector, the connector of the ac harness was melted to the blower motor.consequences - after reading about similar problems, i cant believe this isn't a major safety issue.because the blower does not blow the defrost doesn't work and when its raining, the humidity builds up inside your vehicle and you can't see to drive.what was done - the parts are on a national critical back order (i wonder why) and the honda parts person says it could be days, weeks or months before they fix it.i have to pre-pay for the part and winter may come before the part does.i guess i'm sweating this summer out.i'm waiting for my new blower estimated $129.00, new power transistor $87.00, new ac harness $49.00. Labor will be about 4 to five hours at $80 dollars and hour.

I own 2006 ridgeline my radio back-light keeps coming off and on when i turn on the headlights it goes out when you turn the headlights off it comes on. Sometimes when driving the light will flicker then it will come and stay on, cannot see the time now i have no light.

2006 honda ridgeline blower motor, ac wire harness fire electrical firei have a 2006 honda ridgeline rtl, fully loaded w/ factory accessories only. Well driving with the a/c on ,i smelled a burning smell and the a/c fan went off.i immediately turned off the ac .i troubleshoot the blower as per the service manual and found that the connector on the a/c harness to the blower motor, and the blower motor terminal were burnt and melted.honda denies any knowledge of this issue, but tons of identical reports are showing up on ridgeline forums.

My odometer 'hangs' and does not update the display to reflect the fact that i'm driving. Pressing the button to scroll to tripa and tripb and oil life does nothing. Then the door open indicator also 'hangs'. Sometimes after the engine is restarted the display comes back to normal with updated mileage. This seems to be a common problem for 2006 honda ridgeline (as i did research on internet) and repair requires replacement of the instrument cluster that runs around $1000. It seems that almost all complains are related to 2006 model, with few single posts related to 2007 model.

Dashboard led odometer flashes on and off and goes blank (led includes doors, odometer, tire monitoring. Item is off warranty.

Fan went out, appears that wiring to fan overheated.

During vehicle start up a heavy smell of burning plastic was noted.took the vehicle in and they discovered that a fire occurred along the drivers side of the engine compartment, melting the powersteering assembly, wire harnesses and power steering hose.i am collecting information and dampened components to take to the honda dealership for examination.

I had a 2006 honda ridgeline that had passenger side dashboard fire.

The remote entry system has failed.initially the electronic key would not open doors other than the drivers side.now it will not even open the drivers side.there is no change using the spare electronic key.a new battery was installed in the every day electronic key and no change.the panic button is also no longer functional.

Same as consumer complaint: odi case number: 10251118the maintenance minder display started blinking and then went blank at times. Dealer says to repair it requires replacing the entire instrument display at a cost of $575. Without the display you have no odometer and no door open or other indicators.i repaired the problem my self by taking theinstrument panel out & disassembling it no easy task.you have to separate the pc board from the plastic housing, the done by removinginstrument pointers and releasing the plastic catches holding the pc board.once you done that you will find 4 pins coming from the display into a connector on the pc board you need to reset the connector(gently separate the display from the connector the re-insert repeat it a couple times to remove any oxidation.then reassemble.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact noticed a burning odor as smoke began escaping from the the passenger side vent and defroster.the contact then noticed a flame coming from the passenger side vent. The contact stopped the vehicle at the shoulder of the road where the fire department reported to the scene. Apolice report was filed and the vehicle was destroyed. The insurance company determined that the failure was electrical. The vehicle was included in the recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v001000 (electrical system: instrument panel) yet the contact had not received the recall notice before the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

My husband was driving the vehicle when it caught fire and was totaled.there was a recall on the vehicle due to recall#10-012 which involved the blower motor in the dashboard catching fire.it was repaired by honda on5/4/10.either the work was not done or the repair did not work.liberty mutual determined that the cause was the recalled blower motor and paid us for a total loss but did not subrogate against honda due to the expiration of an "implied warranty" on the recall repair (more than 4 years).if their repair did not solve the problem on this vehicle, it is doubtful whether other vehicles on the road were resolved any better.my fear is that god forbid my grandchildren were in the back of the vehicle at the time, they would have been injured.this is a family vehicle and my fear is that children ridingin similar models from honda could be at risk.is there a process to determine whether honda's fix took care of the problem or are these vehicles susceptible to neglect on the part of honda?what is the follow-up procedure on "repaired" recalls

Hvac motor stopped working. Looked it up online and found recall for hvac wiring harness was issued . I purchased vehicle on 7/22/2011 (used) recall said honda would replace bad parts and install a cover to prevent passenger from kicking blower motor. There is no such cover. Local honda dealer says truck was serviced on 6/20/2011 by previous owner and all recalled parts replaced. I do not believe this truck was repaired at all even though they say it was and if it was why is there no cover? now the same parts recalled have failed again and i do not think it is right that i have to pay them $500 to repair it.

I own a 2006 honda ridgeline that just experienced a failure in the hvac fan motor wiring harness.this is listed as a cause for at least 3 fires in this vehicle and i wanted to make sure i get it reported.my vehicle only shorted the system out with no failure but cost over $700 in repairs.i also own the same year accord with the same motor.

I have had the truck for two years. In that time i've replaced the blower motor resistor four times. After a little research i found that a recall had been initiated on those vehicle for the wire harnessafter removing the blower motor, the harness is melted ..this vehicle should have been recalled.

This is my second problem, the first being a electrical system ( blower motor ) failure and under dash melting of wires on my 2006 honda ridgeline. The starter motor failed and stopped working without any warning.after attempting to start it a few times, i smelled smoke, when the aaa tow truck came, i tried to start again, he said to stop there is smoke coming from the starter.no dealership in northern ca carries these in stock because according to the parts department, " they never break down."my answer to that is, well mine did.they quoted $ 344.00 for parts and $ $280.00 labor ( which i thought was high).has anyone else had a starter issue?

When i first bought this vehicle i had a problem with it at 41,000 miles. The fan motor dial would not turn on correctly. I could be driving then if i hit a bump in the road the fan motor would turn on. Now you have to play with it until it turns on to it won't work at all. I think it may have something to do with the wiring because my inside lights don't work right as well. Map light one side works and the other doesn't. I replaced parts and it still doesn't work.

I own a 2006 honda ridgeline that i purchased when it was new.right after it was out of warranty all of my heat/a/c controls stopped working, you actually have to push in the knob & twist or bang it to make the motor come on and then it is only at one speed- either that speed or off and it turns on & off for the length of the trip when ever it wants. The dealer states that they need to replace the whole control console which will cost well over $1,000! this should be a safety recall considering that there must be a wire issue in this vehicle. Also, i know that there was a recall on the heat/a/c and brought mine in for that recall but was told that mine was not part of the group- is this the same problem?i also saw that there was a recall on the odometers and brought mine in for that recall only to be told that my truck was not part of that recall but my odometer is always counting at least 25 miles more per tank full of gas then what i actually have driven. Therefore my warranty expired so fast because of this issue and i was told that my truck was not involved in the recall even though i pointed out that i have a gps unit, always have had one and everytimethat i gas up i check the poor gas mileage that i get and they never are even close, as i stated around 25 miles off each tank full!!none of my doors will unlock when the truck is placed into park and i complained abouit this and was told that this is a safety part of teh truck, the kids can not open a door, my kids are over 18 yrs old, please tell me how to correct this issue so that my passangers can get out in case of an emergency!

My 2006 honda ridgeline started blinking off and on at the odometer area. Now it comes on when it wants to. I have read two other complaints of this same nature by two other people. My only other complaint is the computer went out while it was under warranty an the dealer took care of this.

Consumer writes to express extreme disappointment with a dealerships response to consumer's effort to get a honda safety recall taken care of *tgw

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact statedthe vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v001000 (electrical system: instrument panel) by an authorized dealer. Once the vehicle was repaired, the dealer test drove the vehicle and noticed that the blower motor would only operate while on high. The dealer replaced the transistor but did not correct the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was informed that the instrument panel master control was defective. The vehicle was not further repaired. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000 and the current mileage was approximately 130,000.

Ridgelines built prior to 8/24/2005 does not support trailers with surge brakes. Tow electrical harness needs a 12v line into the trailer to disengage brakes when trailer is backing up. During reverse, since there is no 12v into the trailer, the trailer cannot be back up. The disk brakes are locked in the trailer. Honda has rectified the issue on newer ridgelines.

I have had two problems with my 2006 honda ridgeline. The first was with the original battery. From the first week until i replaced the battery myself the factory installed battery would go dead. I would contact the dealer and was told to bring the vehicle in. In order to do this i needed to jump the battery which in turn allowed the battery to becomecharged while driving it to the dealers 20 miles away. This type of incident happened over 15 times, each time i was told to drive the vehicle to the dealer, each time when i got to the dealers they found nothing wrong with the battery, it was charged. Mean time i told the dealer that in order to get the vehicle to them i needed to either jump start or charge the battery which in turn would make it appear ok once i arrived at the dealership.every time the dealer ship refused to replace the battery because it appeared ok. I had to go to sears and put a new die hard into the truck myself since the dealership refused to do anything.

The second problem just occurred. We left the vehicle at a airport parking garage while we were going on vacation. My son in law was going to pick up the vehicle when he got off of work at the airport in about 6 hours. However when he went to start the ridgeline nothing happened. No matter what he tried nothing happened. He even tried to jump start the truck but nothing would happen so he left us a phone message and found a ride to his home. When we returned a week later we also tried to start and jump start it with out the truck responding in anyway what so ever so we had the truck towed on a flat bed to the dealership in ct. After some time checking out the truck the dealership found that for some reason, still unknown what that reason is, the truck's main fuse and all other fuses were blown and the battery was completely dead. The dealership replaced the battery and the fuses and it works fine once again, at least until the next time. The dealership could not explain why or what caused this problem and stated that my truck was the first one to have this happen to it, great now we hold a unwanted record!!does anyone have any idea what or why this happened?

Moments after dropping my son off at school returning back home, i noticed smoke coming from the far right passenger side vent. I pulled over, turned the vehicle off, lifted the hood -saw nothing- closed the hood, went to passenger side, looked in ac vent noticing flame which then rapidly spread through the dash board engulfing the truck. Fire dept. Came and extinguished the flames. I really enjoyed the truck but feel there is some kind of defect in the manufacturing process.

Found out radiator/transmission on honda ridgeline has been having catastrophic failures due to transmission line failure.this issue will cause engine failure that could result in wrecks due to the violent nature of this failure. This would cause immediate panic to my pregnant wife and soon to be newborn baby girl.honda is aware of the faulty connection on radiator that causes this issue and still hasn't issued recall. I believe they are acting negligently towards fixing this issue.come to find out nissan had a similar issue with their pathfinder and has since performed a voluntary radiator assembly program (http://www.nissanassist.com/web/radiator/faqs.php?menu=22). Honda also directed us to contact nhtsa and i am hopeful that the fine staff at nhtsa will take a close look at this issue with honda and come to a decision to help consumers take preventative measures.thank you for taking time to read this and i hope you and your family do not have to experience this type of issue.

Steering pump is failing and almost hit a car due to failing steering pump.i am requesting that honda repair my honda ridgeline.truck goes why off and i have no other car.looking and speaking to an attorney to file law suite.

Entire warning light system failed with loss of abs and vsa.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. While driving various speeds, the check engine indicator illuminated without warning. In addition, a steel washer corroded and caused transmission fluid to leak into the radiator. The transmission and radiator were replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 118,000.

Stopped at a stoplight went to take off and vehicle shifted oddly, went about 500 yards stopped shut truck off and out poured the milky transmission fluid.added transmission fluid to get it home and you could follow the trail the entire way (approximately 1 mile) and empty again (we filled it).opened the overflow antifreeze/coolant and the same strawberry milky fluid was in there completely full!also opened the radiator to find it completely full of the same stuff.i have read many accounts of the same thing happening while driving at high speeds, thank god i wasn't, i had my entire family in the truck!it would be nice for honda to do something about this!!!going to a mechanic today, will more than likely be making a phone call to honda once the verdict is in!

Truck failed to start after work, after several tries the truck started but warning lights came on and there was a knocking noise in the engine. After a couple of seconds the warning lights went off and the noise went away. When i started to drive it surged a couple of times and then ran normal. I checked the engine when i got home to find coolant on the dipstick and very low on coolant in the radiator. I took the truck toa honda dealer who inspected it and told me what i already knew and said that i need a new engine, they have not told me what the cause is. After a very brief search on the web i found numerous complaints on this model year truck with the same problem. Going to dealer today to talk with the service manager and discuss my options and ask for help from honda on this matter.

2006 honda ridgeline with 140,000 miles.all scheduled maintenance performed. Driving home on 9/18/13 on highway, cruise control set to 65 mph, car began to lurch forward a few times.got off at next exit and revs began to rise as if in neutral.stopped immediately and called for tow truck.noticed temp meter was high, but went back down to normal within 15 minutes."strawberry milk shake" type liquid then poured onto pavement.truck towed to independent service station. The station concluded that there was a failure of the transmission cooler, which resides within the radiator.apparently the metal connector that separates the two (chemically incompatible) coolants corroded, the fluids mixed causing the temp to rise and boil over, the mixture of coolants apparently destroys both the radiator and the transmission.service tech's have rarely seen this before on older toyota 4runners, but not honda's.however after some research, there are dozens similar incidents reported on the various honda forums which indicate honda's awareness and refusal to issue a recall or assume financial responsibility for the catastrophic failure that results (like my $5,765 refurbished transmission, new radiator, hose flushes, etc.).there are no warning signs for this type of issue.fortunately i was able to pull off in a safe place, but injuries can surely result from this preventable problem.i have begun the process of requesting financial assistance from honda, which begins with paying for a diagnosis (2nd opinion) from an authorized honda dealer.they "warned" me that they cannot consider helping me unless the dealer concludes there is a clear manufacturer's defect.

The a/c condenser fan get loose and its blade were moving unproperly making a large hole in the radiator. Suddenly the radiator lost all water causing that engine motor brake the seals, piston and other parts because the high temperature. Since the water leaking was fast, the temperature sensor that shows high temperature at dash control panel ease not catch until the big damage of the engine happened.the mechanic technician states that fail of this fan is common on honda vehicle. The big damage to may parts of engine happened because such a/c condenser fan failed without any advise and is common in honda, but no recall or warning have been notified by honda dealers or factory.

While driving, i suddenly started getting transmission "slippage".engine would rev up, but no power to the wheels.i was able to pull off the road.there was a strawberry milkshake colored fluid coming out of my radiator overflow container.turns out the that transmission cooler inside the radiator broke loose and allowed engine coolant to mix with the transmission fluid.apparently it's not an unknown problem.i'm lucky that i was in a rural residential area and not on the interstate.

There is a design flaw in the washer used at the transmission fluid junctions in the radiator. The fittings and washer are made of dissimilar metals. As a result, the steel washer used as a spacer rusts and corrodes, then swells and forcibly pulls the threads from their fittings. A catastrophic loss of fluids including an exchange of transmission fluid and engine coolant take place, rendering the vehicle not only inoperable but also perhaps significantly damaged. These fittings fail at random with no obvious pattern or environmental cause. The normal "underbody rust" does not seem to correlate with this failure. I have done substantial research on the internet regarding this issue, and many others report this type of failure and have come to the same conclusion.i feel this is a significant safety issue with this vehicle, as such a dramatic and immediate loss of fluid could result in engine failure, overheating, and transmission failure. If the engine were to fail and the vehicle were traveling at speed, a loss of power steering and power assisted braking would occur. Additionally, finding a location to pull off of the road presents a safety hazard in itself. This issue could be easily resolved by ceasing to use dissimilar metals in the radiator fittings. As far as i know, this same design is being applied to all honda ridgeline model years including those currently in production. Although i cannot verify this, i have heard that this particular part in the 2009 model year remained unmodified. This is an issue that must be addressed, as there are more and more failures of this type occurring. It is simply a matter of time before a serious injury occurs that could have been completely preventable.

The cooling line for the transmission where it enters the bottom of the radiator failed due to galvanic corrosion. This cause a large immediate loss of transmission fluid.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate independently. The contact stated that various warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel as the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to diagnose the issue.the manufacture was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 120,000.

We purchased our 2006 ridgeline back in 2009 with approx 46k miles on it.at that time, we purchased the hac (honda auto care) warr & cont to drive for yrs with limited problems concerning the veh. Around 82k on the ridgeline (2 yrs ago), i had a problem with the vehicle that prompted me to take the vehicle into the dealer.they advised me that it would be cov under the warranty, but the warranty was exp in 2 weeks (2 weeks, but what about the 7 yrs and 100k)?.i inquired on the terms & explained that was not how it was positioned to me.roughly 2100.00 for a little over 2 1/2 yrs is not what i thought i was buying.knowing that the warranty was expiring, i immediately scheduled an appt for the following weekend to have them review the entire vehicle top to bottom (nothing discovered at that time). Where the problem creates:last wkd, hit 101k & the check engine light appears w/ the vtm-4 light.i know there are usual codes for reg maint, but seeing how i have had vehicles trigger lights at 100k for regular servicing that was outside of the manual, i then contacted my service ctr to inquire.he reviewed the 105k service with me & started he would get back to me on any codes. Later that day i received a call stating that the #4 cylinder was misfiring & the plug on #4 was caked with baked on oil.he recommended changing the plugs first before going into the rest of the 105k service. 2 days later, the chk engine light starts blinking & vtm-4 light is on again. He later calls me to state the head may have a crack & explains poss damage or stall. What if it stalls on the freeway? what if the cat clogs (another 600 by the way) and my car just stops while driving though a intersection? i read several complaints about this happening & am shocked honda doesn't respond to any. I cant pay 3k - called dealer & opened case with honda main csr# 800-999-1009-no response.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 15 mph, the vehicle independently reduced in speed. The contact discovered that the transmission fluid was leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence where it was discovered that metal fitting around the radiator had corroded and fractured, which caused the transmission fluid to leak from the vehicle. As a result, the radiator needed to be replaced. The contact repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000. Updated 12/03/15*lj

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline.while driving approximately 40 mph, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle stalled two minutes later, thepowertrain light illuminated on the instrument panel .the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove to a local dealer.the dealer stated that a new engine was needed and they replaced the engine.the failure mileage was 39,600 and current mileage was 40,500.updated 01-14-08.updated 12/12/07.

The contact owns a 2006 honda rigdeline. The contact stated that the vehicle shut off without warning. The dealer made two attempts to diagnose the failure. The electrical system was checked and the battery was replaced; however, the vehicle continued to shut off without warning. The manufacturer was notified and they advised the contact to file a complaint with nhtsa.the vehicle was at an authorized dealer awaiting diagnostic testing. The current mileage was approximately 68,000. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that the hose that connected from the radiator to the engine became disconnected, causing oil to drain from the engine. As a result, the vehicle could be started but could not be moved. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic where the contact was awaiting a diagnosis of the failure. The failure and the current mileages were 105,000.

We love our honda's (3 other), i was so excited about my purchase of a ridgeline from a la dealership in dec 2006. My nephew purchased it from honda finance directly and shipped it to utah for me and i have meticulously cared for and loved my ridgeline! in december at 93,460 miles my truck lost its perfect harmony ... It began putting out white/blue smoke. I had an incident where the accelerator took off and i had to shift down and brake real hard to gain control of the speed. I was traveling south on i-15 through salt lake county at the time, speed around 65 mph. Very scary! soon after the "check engine" light came on and when i idled it flashed. I was told that this is probably the moment that the cylinder "blew out".i took it in and was told that my #4 spark plug was "gummed" up and needed replacement, it was suggested that because of the increased mileage i should do a full valve replacement. $785 later, the smoke exhaust was the same and 3 weeks later the light came back on. I took it back and they "scoped" the cylinders and found #4 had "pouck" marks and had lost compression. I needed a new engine. I called 5 auto shops in my general area and found that 2 of them had seen the same issue with a 2006 ridgelne and a 2007 pilot. Both mechanics told me that the owners had taken them to honda dealerships & honda had replaced their engines, they "were under 100,000 miles". I did so, $97 later i was told that "no. Honda had deemed my situation not worthy of a warranty." what?! i can't even trade it in to a honda dealership to purchase a new one without the $5k reduction in value! i have a history of timely and meticulous care with my local honda dealership and a mechanic shop, this is not what i expected from honda! you must have an issue if in my little suburb 2 others have had #4 cylinders go bad just before 100,000 miles.

I was leaking engine coolant so i went to the dealership to get it checked. I figured that while the truck was at the dealer i should get the check engine light that keeps going on and off looked at. Turns out my radiator had blown and the valves in my engine were too tight and they needed to be adjusted. It cost me 800 for the radiator plus 400 for the valves and i've noticed a huge gain in my gas mileage.

On or about january 9th, 2010, i started my 2006 ridgeline to and turned the heat on high to warm it up before leaving my home. When i returned to the vehicle to leave, the entire cab was filled with smoke. My husband located the source of the smoke, coming from under the dash on the passenger side. He found wires sticking out and determined that they were burnt and that we needed to bring the vehicle to the dealership for repair. The vehicle was taken to our local honda dealership and partially repaired. The cost was $451.71. Still, the high low fan switch / knob does not always respond. Occasionally, when the control switch is in the "fan high" position, the fan will cut off. The dealer advised it will be an additional $400.00 for the new switch, not including labor.

Honda ridgeline 2006 air conditioning lines are located right next to an engine bracket. Over time (3yrs) the aluminum pipe wears out causing the freon to leak out of the system and the compressor to stop working. Parts # 24 & 25 had to be replaced at a cost of 400 usd. The new part seem to be made of a bendable material instead of the rigid original and can be bent out of the way of the bracket.

We got our ridgeline on march 12 a few days that they had been out, only the second that the duval honda had sold. And we have done nothing but love that truck. On friday 11/25/05 on my way to work, i ahd been driving about 5-8 mintues and then i smelt something a little strange.........coming out of the ac vent. I turned the heater off......the smell of smoke started to get heavier and heavier. I looked into the vent and noticed that there was smoke and fire billowing inside.....not sure where it was coming from...i got out of the truck, called fire/rescue, and began to get most of the belongings that i could. The truck was fully involved by time fire/rescue arrived on scene. I must say that, back in septmber i noticed that the radio which is still stock was wired incorrectly, i mentioned it the last time that i took the baby in for servicing. They said that they would have to take the dash out and have it re-wired the correct way. And that it would be an all day affair, i havent had the time to have that done, and my dealer doesnt offer loaner cars. Am i saying that this is the reason that this happened? i am not sure.as anyone had anything simular??

Fire in engine bay of new honda ridgeline, debris caught between exhaust and catalytic converter. Major damage. Bought 2nd. Ridgeline. 2 minor episodes of burning smell while using on dirt roads. This is not a coincidence!

Honda ridgeline 2006 has considerable hesitation when accelerating from under 10 mph, especially when turning. I was leaving the parking lot of convenience store rolling at about 5 mph and then tried to accelerate out into faster moving traffic. Vehicle hesitated for about 3 seconds which put me in a position where cars on the roadway i was entering had to brake. Hesitation is constant and consistent since purchase of the truck. Now i currently have 2000 miles on vehicle. Called honda and they say it's normal for the system of "drive by wire". I have another family member with same vehicle, he has no hesitation. Honda refuses to fix or at least look into my problem as they continue to say it's normal.

Noticed large amount of smoke at engine start up. Turned off engine checked oil level, discovered it was about a quart low. Last oil change about 3,500 miles prior to event. Topped off oil drove about 25 miles moderate to light smoking from exhaust. Dropped off at honda dealer for maintenance on 27 dec 07. Dealer determined cause to be blown head gasket, requiring new cylinder head estimated repairs due to be complete about 3 jan 08. Call from dealer inquiring about oil change records on 3 jan info provided, truck not ready.called dealer on 4 jan for status and informed that a new engine is required after guidance from regional service rep. New completion date about 9 jan. Called dealer 11 jan to check on status, new engine installed still smoking, trouble shooting in progress. New cylinder head required for new engine completion due 17 jan 08. Work completed on 17 jan.

Had the a/c on and it melted the harness and blew up the heater motor to run the fan.

On august 15, i purchased a honda ridgeline 2006 from my local dealer. Although the vehicle performs well, the honda music link ipod adapter was a waste of $475.00. The honda music link is almost impossible to use and is actually a hazard to safe driving. The software requires significant user intervention and distracts the driver's attention from safely operating the vehicle.these sentiments are well documented at:http://www.nuxx.net/hondamusiclink.htmlhttp://digg.com/apple/honda_music_link_ipod_adapter_reviewi am neither an author of these reviews nor a paid consultant. I am simply a user who is concernedthat a distractive teenager or young adult who has this system installed may be injured in a motor vehicle accident.whereas automobile radios have typically used a simple interface (buttons and a dial) consumer electronics have become progressively more complex. Although a commuter riding a bus or a train may be able to spend the hours fiddling with the device interface, the operator of a vehicle does not. I would appreciate your thoughts as to how to remedy this situation before any innocent lives are lost because the driver was busy 'playing with the ipod'. The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that when using the jack, the jack would not lift the vehicle high enough to safely remove and replace the tires. The contact stated that the jack appeared to be compatible with the weight of a smaller vehicle. The dealer was contacted who advised that they never received any complaints about the jack. The manufacturer was contacted but did not offer any assistance. The failure and current mileage was 32,000. Updated 5/2/11 updated 06/06/11

Tire jack on the honda ridgeline does not raise up high enough to change a tire.you need to have a board at least an inch tall to make up the difference.

I've been complaining ever since i bought the truck in april 2005 that you are blind when making a right hand turn in the dark. My truck is not equipped with fog lights.

The rear brake light trim on my 2006 honda ridgeline keeps coming off.honda and the dealer have fixed it 4 times for free but now refuse to fix it saying that since the vehicle is over 100,000 mikes, they need to draw the line somewhere.i believe this to be a safety hazard since i do not have the 3rd brake light and this comes flying off while on the highway striking other cars.

I own 2006 ridgeline my radio back-light keeps coming off and on when i turn on the headlights it goes out when you turn the headlights off it comes on. Sometimes when driving the light will flicker then it will come and stay on, cannot see the time now i have no light.

Parking lamps will not stay continuously illuminated.they are controlled by the headlamp timer and turn off within 5-10 minutes of exiting the vehicle.this has created a dangerous condition when the vehicle was intentionally parked for an extended time on a two lane country road.it was almost hit by other vehicles every time the parking lights went off.my dealer has confirmed this design condition and was told by honda that in order for the parking lights to remain on, the key must in the vehicle and the ignition turned "on".in this mode, the vehicle could not be left unattended.in my opinion, both conditions create unnecessary dangerous or risky conditions and should be corrected by honda.

While driving, something from the road punctured the fuel tank.fuel poured from the tank in a matter of minutes.the consumer contacted the dealer.the consumer felt the fuel tankwas too soft if it could sustain a hole like the one in it.*sc

Fuel pump failure on a 2006 honda ridgeline.

Takata recalls that while in motion and parkedmy truck is skipping really bad also has a bad smell of gas really strong

There is a recall for the fuel pump relay for my 2006 honda ridgeline4wd

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The rear doors will not unlock. There is a feature on the vehicle that allows you to open the doors manually even if you have the child safety lock on. The failure also made it difficult for a handicap person to get out of the vehicle. The failure has occurred since the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle currently has 38,000 miles. Updated 03/09/10. *ljupdated 06/11/10

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that the door would not automatically unlock when the vehicle was shifted into park. The vehicle would lock itself when it was in park and drive. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the fuse box needed to be replaced. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Passenger door locks will not unlock leaving children unable to get out of car in case of emergency.

Where the transmission cooling line attaches to the radiator, corrosion occurs in the fitting and this causes the radiator fluid to mix with the transmission fluid.the resulting problem is the transmission starts slipping and the transmission can fail completely. There is a well know problem with the connector that corrodes prematurely. Honda has not recalled this vehicle or issued a service bulletin but honda repair dealers are well aware that this is a class defect with all honda ridgelines and honda pilot vehicles.the unsafe condition occurs when the transmission starts to slip without any warning. There is no warning light that indicates there is a problem. In my case i pulled out onto a busy highway from a side street and the vehicle was uncontrollable because the transmission was slipping all of a sudden.the repair to my vehicle included a new radiator, new fluids and a complete flushing of the radiator and transmission 5 times. This repair cost me over $1200.

Transmission cooler fitting failed catastrophically and transmission fluid mixed with coolant in radiator and engine ran but transmission stopped working at allsimilar to other failures reported on this site

I had just entered the interstate at approximately 10 pm in moderate to heavy traffic, acceleratedto 65 mph and set the cruise control, i traveled approximately a1/4 mile when the vehicle shuddered and immediately lost momentum while the engine r.p.m increased rapidly, i turned on the four way flashers and was nearly rear ended as i attempted to get to the right side of the roadway. I had the vehicle towed home where i found transmission fluid in the radiator , i contacted the dealer, they implied they hadn't heard of this problem but quoted an approximate repair of somewhere north of $5,000 for labor,an after market radiator and a rebuilt or junkyard salvage transmission. A quick internet search revealed numerous postings of this issue with several models with the same drive train.

Bought a used 2006 honda ridgeline with only 90k miles in dec 2015 from a local dealer.had it less than one year when a single steel washer corroded where the transmission coolant line attaches to the radiator, causing both transmission fluid and radiator fluid to mix.this resulted in a new radiator, lines and now transmission failure - about $4500 of repairs from a steel washer rusting!i've read a lot of blogs and this really is something that honda should issue a recall for.honda simply states this issue to be caused by "environment" and denies responsibility.all honda would need to do is have put in a washer that wouldn't have rusted!seriously a small steel washer worth .15 cents is going to cost me about $4500.00 in repairs!with the number of complaints i've read about on blogs i'm surprised more haven't logged this with the nhtsa.honda should be responsible for this and i'm considering small claims court against honda of america.this is also an issue with other honda's, not just the ridgeline.at the time of the failure i was at a stop light turning left on a city street.after putting my foot on the gas to start my turn,i heard the transmission make a funny whine noise.i drove about a mile and pulled over to see fluid pouring out of the radiator filler reservoir.my initial repair cost me about $1000 - new radiator, all new lines and several flushes of transmission and radiator.my mechanic said he hoped the transmission didn't get any radiator fluid in it.i drove it about a week and the transmission started to fail.i took the ridgeline to a transmission shop and the owner there was all too familiar with this honda issue.he said my transmission is beginning toast and a rebuild is around $3500.00 - so i have that scheduled to be done soon.

The cooling line for the transmission where it enters the bottom of the radiator failed due to galvanic corrosion. This cause a large immediate loss of transmission fluid.

Transmission fluid oil cooler line ejects from radiator as a result ofdissimilar metal corrosion...a steel washer is used that becomes the catalyst for the failure. Transmission fluid loss occurs that leads to loss of acceleration of vehicle, putting vehicle occupants in danger.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact stated when placing the vehicle in reverse, there was an unusually loud noise. The noise was only heard when in reverse and not in drive or attempting a turn. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer was contacted to determine the cause of the failure or to make repairs. The failure mileage was 3,600 and current mileage was 3,900.

I was traveling from houston to las vegas via interstate 10.about 100 miles from el paso, i heard a loud noise, boom, and we stopped to investigate what we saw what had happened to my truck iwas totally shocked.the first thought came to our mind was, we could have gotten killed, the drive shaft snapped in half while traveling at the highway speed. Based on the words of mechanic abel of kelly grimsley honda in odessa texas, with 14 years of experience, he has never seen anything like it.no repair has been done yet since the cost is approximately $5600. This is an obvious defect and we were lucky to be alive. I have photos if needed.

Hesitation occurs consistently when speed is under 10 mph and then try to accelerate. Was leaving parking lot of convenience store rolling to exit stepped on the gas to get into traffic and truck hesitated for 2-3 seconds putting me into traffic with no power for those 2-3 seconds. Traffic had to brake for me. I believe this is a safety factor to be considered especially since i have two children usually with me. I had called honda about this problem and they were familiar with it. If they were familiar why didn't they inform me of that before i spent $32,000 for the vehicle. When i test drove the truck i did not feel this hesitation as it started after i had 150 miles on it. They tell me it's drive by wire or something of this nature and basically have to live with it.

Takata inflatorsitook my truck in for recallsbutnow red light (bag inflator)is on thatmeans theyare not on. I talkedtohonda they said could be some dirt in my seat belt latch? it comes on as soon as i put my seat belt on.

The truck struck a tree and the harness seat belt did not work properly resulting in a broken back in two areas causing disability. The bag did deploy. I bought the truck new in 2006 and noticed that the belt never took hold no matter what speed you thrusted the belt forward. I believed knowing that honda is usually on top of their game that they found a way for the harness not to tug at you as they usually do. When i wook up at the hospital and they told me i broke my back i knew immediately that the harness belt did not work and thatit was a malfuction. In the meantime erie insurance company totaled the truck and after being told various times to hold the truck and agreed to by the adjuster for an attorney to look at it,the truck was sold to a salvage yard and the case was dropped by the attorney.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. After the vehicle was started, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver side seat belt sensor failed and needed to be replaced. In addition, the technician stated that the seat belt failed to retract. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 166,000.

The front passenger seat belt will not trigger the seat belt indicator warning light when the front passenger fails to buckle their seat belt or unbuckles their seat belt with the vehicle in motion. The vehicle was taken into a honda dealer on 07-31-12 and both front seat belt buckles were replaced. The problem with the passenger side continued. The vehicles owners manual indicates on pages 8 & 59 that the indicator reminds the driver and passenger to fasten their seat belts. The honda dealer and american honda both state that the passenger seat belt offers no such warning and refuse to acknowledge that there is a fault with the system.

The rear seat brackets on both sections do not close flat when the seats are in the upright position to allow for storage. The driver side seat bracket failed at approximately 35,000 miles and was repaired under warranty by the local dealership. The passenger side failed at approximately 60,000 miles and the repaired side failed again at approximately 62,000 miles. The dealership quoted an outrageous price to replace the part that had broken and suggested that i contact honda for assistance. It appears the number they gave me is not a working number since it rings constantly with no answer or voicemail.i use bungee cords to keep the brackets in a closed position when the seats are up. It is my opinion that this could be a safety issue in case of an accident with the protruding metal legs. I bought the ridgeline for the versatility of the back seat area and should not be forced to have the seats down at all times or use a bungee cord to hold the brackets in place when the seats are up.

My 2006 honda ridgeline drivers seat frame is broken/loose.the first time it was found to be loose was at approximately 12000 miles and the dealer re torque the seat rails.the next time was the next oil change at approximately 17000 miles and the dealer re torque the seat rails.the next time was at approximately 25000 with the same action by the dealer.at 35000 miles the dealer re torque the seat rails.at 60000 the dealer tried to re torque the seat rails and the dealer told me that the seat frame was broken and that i would have to replace the seat frame and the dealer would have my extended warranty take care of it.well i went back for the appointment and the dealer stated that the extended warranty would not cover the frame replacement and that honda would only cover 50% of my cost $500.00 to me.

Drivers seat is loose on the left hand corner and rocks back and forward when going over a bump, exiting off the road left or right when braking hard or accelerating.

The power driver's seat on my 2006 honda ridgeline moves (rocks) while driving normally.the dealer said that the entire seat would have to be replaced at a cost of $1200 (the vehicle is off warranty with 59,000 miles).i'm concerned about the integrity and safety of the front seat support in the event of a crash in this vehicle.i have driven the truck since new, and purchased it from the corporate leasing company.i don't think that i should have to pay for a safety issue caused by a manufacturer's defect or defective design.i have checked, and various other honda vehicles have had similar complaints, and some have even had a tsb for the "rocking" seat repairs required (e.g. 2003 civic).

Interior seat fabric is defective in that it stains easily.the first time i noticed it was when i opened the door to get it when it was raining and the seats were discolored even when dry.other events such as using the armrest and it becoming discolored, etc. Happened continuously.the dealer replaced the seats with honda's original materials only to have the same thing happen.i now use seat covers to protect from further damage-which is a hazard to the operation of the side airbags.i have been left with no other options.

I went to safekids to get instruction on proper installation of a child safety seat in my 2006 honda ridgeline. The vehicle was unable to accommodate proper installation because the diameter of the bar at the top of the seat is top large for the hook and the standard child safety seat. Conversations with american honda (jamal brown) indicated that this is not a problem they can fix, nor was it serious enough to warrant addressing a correction for future models, and that i should try to find another type of safety seat. I investigated other honda cars, truck and vans. All had the proper size hook to accommodate the safety seat. 6 other popular models of safety seat all have the same size hook. The ridgeline also has bars for the lower safety seat hooks. These bars are the proper size and comparable to the seat top bars on other honda models. I check the 2007 ridgelind and they have the same problem.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that the rear seat support rod stayed extended and broke instead of folding back. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the rear seat support rod would be repaired at his expense. The vehicle was being repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 51,000.

Brake pedal has soft feel and requires multiple pumps to build up pressure.have had brakes bled multiple times and had master cylinder replaced.after service brakes seem fine for a few days/weeks but eventually return to soft state.sudden stopping situations or stopping on slippery surfaces will cause pedal to go immediately to floor and anti-lock system to engage.sometimes antilock brakes will engage even if not on slippery or loose surface.

I have recieved a recall notice ...something about defective air bags.. I refuse to take my vehicle to a dealer...the last recall that this vehicle had was the brake master cylinder ... It was not done properly.. There is still air in the brake lines.. This causes a mushy brake pedal.. I also had a buell motorcyle... I received 9 recalls in a 2 week period... Out of the 4 recalls that i allowed the dealer to perform 1 failed on my why home { fuel tank vent} and another failed a week later { side stand saftey switch} .. Nothing was done about any of these issues.

Entire warning light system failed with loss of abs and vsa.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. While driving approximately 50 mph, another vehicle crashed into the rear driver side of the contact's vehicle. The contact's vehicle suddenly accelerated out of control and crashed into a guardrail. The contact stated that the brakes were engaged, but failed to respond as the vehicle continued to accelerate against the guardrail for up to one mile. The air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle stopped after being turned off. A police report was filed an no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed and repaired; however, the diagnosis was unknown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,000.

I have spent close to a $1000.00 to try and fix a recurring soft brake issue with my 2006 honda ridgeline. After many countless hours at the multiple auto shops and honda dealerships i decided to research further into this soft brake problem that i have. The biggest issue was that at one particular shop they changed out 5 brand new master cylinders to try and fix the issue. After extended hours online, it came to my attention that there was an issue with the honda odyssey/element brake system as well. There was a recall on the vsa modulator with over 400,000 vehicles. I also found on other threads and blogs that other honda ridgelines are having the same issue. When i took it to the honda dealership they told me it would cost $1500 to change out the vsa modulator but would not guarantee this would prevent the same issue from recurring in the future. I explained to the technician that it seems to be a defective part if its also happening to other honda ridgelines.

Master cylinder on vehicle gone out twice within a year.

Brake system malfunctioned causing brake pedal to go to the floor negating the ability to stop. Dealer clueless in cause.

The rear brakes on our 2006 honda ridgeline wore out in 12,000 miles and i see you have a settled complaint with other honda's of the same year, why not ours?

Took truck to honda dealer for routine maintenance and asked them to check rear driver's side brake because it was making a noise and seemed to be gripping after i would release the brake pedal.they told me i need new brake pads and new rotors.they told me the brake pads are metal against metal, there's too much rust on rotors.they want $554 for the front, $544 for the rear.i asked if this wasn't premature for such a worn brake.i drive the honda 3 times a week on average, moreso in the winter months, and my driving has been mostly highway so i am not doing a lot of braking.i am not certain this is normal wear and tear by any means.i can't believe it would be on such low miles.i won't buy another honda in the future though.

The brakes on my 2006 honda ridgeline have never worked right despite numerous visits to the dealer. One has to pump the brakes at some stops to keep the pedal from hittting the floor. On one occasion, i was towing a light trailer and the truck would not stop causing a minor accident.

Failure of power steering hose.

I have had my honda ridgeline for 3 years and just found out the shocks and struts have to be replaced. I have never hauled anything with the vehicle or towed anything. It is a 2006 ridgeline and i noticed on the forums many other people were having the same problems and the dealer was quietly replacing the ones under warranty but charging for the others. Even the dealer admits there is a problem but refuses to issue a recall.. I have had trucks my entire adult life and have never had to replace shocks or struts on any vehicle. This vehicle is mostly driven in the city and occasionally highway driving. No offroading or on any surface other than asphalt. The struts and shocks wearing out so quickly cause swaying of the vehicle and some difficulty stopping which could lead to an accident not to mention that the dealer said my brakes were glazed and i asked if this could be due to the fact that all the weight of the vehicle is thrown forward on an underengineered front suspension system..he said it was possible.

Passenger side rear strut was replaced approximately 98,000 miles due to leakage and noise. Replaced with oem part. Same noise recurred at approximately 115,000 miles. Still making the noise. Both sway bar end links were replaced, with oem parts, due to squeaking noise. Driver's side rear suspension now makes loud clicking noise when going over bumps. Rack and pinion needs to be replaced, bad bushings causing loud thunking noises. Inner tie rod end has failed, and presented a significant safety issue.

Steering pump is failing and almost hit a car due to failing steering pump.i am requesting that honda repair my honda ridgeline.truck goes why off and i have no other car.looking and speaking to an attorney to file law suite.

The steering failed without warning on my honda ridgeline. I was driving straight down the highway and noticed my steering wheel was at a 45 degree angle.steering was not very responsive. I was able to get off the highway safely, but could barely steer. I would turn the wheel but little would happen to the tires. I was towed to a repair shop. They confirmed there was no fluid leaks, no external damage. They replaced the rack. I called honda and they offered nothing since the work was not at a honda dealer. I still have the failed rack - i kept the broken part. Had i been driving during rush hour, i would have certainly crashed because i had so little control over my truck.

Right front wheel premature tie rod failure 2006 honda ridgeline pick up truck, only 28, 000 miles. Barely averted high speed rollover event.

Truck bed scratches contrary to advertising of scratch resistance. Honda advertising no bed liner required. If you do not use drop cloths the bed looks like a child was left alone with a white crayon.

Dt*:the contact stated mold was observed on the rear brake line.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the vehicle was washed and repainted due to the mold on the vehicle.after this incident, the underside of the vehicle was inspected and corrosion was discovered on the pieces that hold the brake line to the vehicle.during the inspection, there was no leak in the brake line, but the contact expressed concerns that this could occur in the future due to the corrosion.the vehicle has not been taken to a mechanic since the corrosion was observed.

Water is leaking into cab and accumulating under driver's side carpet. And slowly makes its way towards the rear and passenger side of the vehicle over time.

2006 honda ridgeline major production defect.***no answer required***. *mroutside water somehow entered the vehicle through the chassis into the passenger compartment of the vehicle.currently the dealer is working on the vehicle to correct the problem.the consumer was informed that the fender of the chassis would require disassembling in order to access the problem area.he was also told the this procedure involved sealing certain area that were not sealed properly during production.the consumer has spoken with other ridgeline consumer who are experiencing the same problem.

Broken inner cable from door handle. Front passenger door can't be opened from inside. Repairing cost is not covered by warranty.

Inside door releases will not work. Honda had a technical service bulletin on this matter of defective door clips. However when i called the dealer said this was not a safety recall.how can this not be a safety issue? what happens if the vehicle is in an accident and driver and/or passengers need to get egress the vehicle quickly but the door releases will not work. This is an unsafe condition caused by a manufacturer defect.

Water leaking from exterior of vehicle to interior of vehicle and soaks carpet creating mold and mildew.

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact stated there was a gap on the front of the instrument panel causing water to seep into the instrument panel making the entire air bag systeminoperable. The air bag lights continued to illuminate continuously.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the seat belt connector, the front air bag apron, the rear air bag apron, the air bag rear module and the entire computer system but the failure continued to recur for the past three years. The manufacturer gave him an extra warranty package but the failure continued. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 110,000.

While lowering the back seat to make room for people to ride to lunch i noticed the back floor was wet. We have had moderate rains in the area over the past two-three days. Further examination revealed water puddled all the way across the entire back floor board, up the sides to both driver and front passenger floor boards. When i got home i pulled the truck in the garage and used a 5 gallon wet/dry vac and removed about 7.5 - 8 gallons of water from the truck. The carpet is still wet and ruined high likely hood of mold and mildew unless the carpet is removed and replaced. High potential for rust/corrosion unless the carpet is removed and the affected area is dried completely. I plan to take the truckin to the dealer asap.

While driving approximately 50mph, the back part of my roof (a 5ft by 8inch piece of steel!) broke loose and flew off completely.it barely missed the car behind me and the oncoming traffic.the dealership says this is not a safety issue.maybe not for the driver of the ridgeline but the driver behind me could have easily been decapitated...this is not an isolated incident as the dealership said they have seen this a few times (and i live in a small town)!

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline truck. The contact stated the rear tailgate latch failed to release in an open position. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the malfunction. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

Rear locks stopped working. First started on drivers side so that it wouldn't lock automatically not even when putting in drive so it make it unsafe to put a child on that side that may unlock the door if the child lock was not engaged. Then it started doing the same thing on the rear passenger side lock as well. It is random whether it will unlock or lock and it has to be manually locked or unlocked from the inside of the vehicle. When trying to engage security feature to lock up all locks must be locked so if they don't lock automatically you have to open each door and manually lock so that you can secure the vehicle.

Getting into the car after shopping at a store,i closed the door and then had to reopen the door to help my passenger with shopping bags when i noticed that i could not get out of the car.i had to ask my passenger to come around and open the driver's door.i did not notice any defects with the door.after researching this issue through online forums, i saw many complaints about honda's doors and problems with actuators. The next day i notice a latch on the side the door and attempted to move the latch to see if this affects the opening of the driver's door . When i moved this latch, the driver's door no longer closed and could not be closed by the key or attempting to move latch again.so i had to drive the car to the honda dealership with the door wide open, holding the door to prevent it from flying open on turns while steering the car.thank god the dealership is less than 2 miles away from my house.i definitely think its a safety concern when a person can get locked in their car or can move a latch manually and it prevents the door from closing all together.

My 2006 honda ridgeline lower trunk compartment lid will not open. It clicks like it wants to open but nothing. The key will only turn to about the 1o'clock position and will not turn to the left at all, if is supposed to at all. The clove compartment switch works because when i put it on lock the mechanism will not click at all...which is what's supposed to happen.

Took truck in to get tires replaced. Mechanic told me that the drivers side rear strut was leaking and needed to be replaced. Vehicle out of warranty so i didn't get it fixed. Soon after rear strut started making noise. Still makes the noise like there is no fluid in the strut. Bumps are hard and drivers side feels stiff.

Drivers side rear strut leaking and making noise, dealer changed the drivers side front and rear struts, vechicle now rides stiff on drivers side.

Passenger side rear strut was replaced approximately 98,000 miles due to leakage and noise. Replaced with oem part. Same noise recurred at approximately 115,000 miles. Still making the noise. Rack and pinion needs to be replaced, bad bushings causing loud thunking noises. Inner tie rod end has failed, and presented a significant safety issue.

After only 46k miles on my 2006 honda ridgeline the sway bar ends needed to be replaced to fix a rattle noise from the suspension. If they were not replaced they would have failed and done considerable more damage to the truck's suspension. This was a 240.00 dollar repair that should have been covered under warranty.

Rear swaybar link broke under normal driving conditions - heard loud pop when going over speedbump.this suspension component is under stress in turns, and if it were to break at that time, would suddenly change vehicle handling, possible causing a crash.dealer has ordered parts.part broke at a weld where the link connects to the vehicle body.

Whiledrivingthe honda ridgeline andpulling a 2006 keystone zeppelin traileron april 11, 2007 in the early day. I pressed the brakes due to a stop sign and the entire rear axle completely detached from the trailer. The trailer could not be pulled unless it had both of its two axles attached. I called the trailer dealer. The local sheriff arrived , although i did not call himand accompanied me at 5 mph to a nearby commercial trailer stop. I called a trailer repair station located a blockaway, who came to the site to retrieve the detached axle. The trailer manufacturer said they were not responsible, even though thedealer made an inquiry before the warranty ended. Theyrequested that the axle be returned to them. They inspected it,and determined that the bolts were loose. I believe they were incorrect, and other trailers will experience similar axle separation, perhaps causing a serious accident. The bolts were rusted and difficult to remove. The axle had a plate welded to it with holes at the top that attach to the frame with bolts. Neither the bolts nor the welds showed any damage. Rather, there was a giant tear located approximately midway between the weld on the axle and bolts through the frame. In other words, the steel tore in the middle of the plate away from either connection. Tests will discoverthat the steel was simply too thin for the braking forces of the trailer. The trailer has not been repaired because i am sure the same tear will occur if the same too-thin steel plateswere used. Please inspect it as soon as you can. I want to have a welder double the plate before a new axlewas installed. If my supposition wascorrect then there will be a serious injury in the future when more of these trailers have more hours on them. Please advise me if you want to see the trailer so i can complete repairs.the consumer stated there is no structural cross beams, the beams are so thin the frame flexes.

As i pulled into a parking space i took my foot of the accelerator and depressed the brake pedal. The truck stopped and then suddenly the engine revved up and the truck took off at high speed for 15 feet slamming into a building. The passenger side front airbag deployed, but not the driver side airbag.the police report number is 180521016 taking by officer chumney of henrico, va police. Incident occurred 5/21/18 around 5:45 a.m.insurance claim number state farm 46-4177-t53.

My truck keeps skipping and stalling i've had everything done with my truck that can be done except ive never had the fuel pump relay inspected so please is there any way that i could have this checked at no cost and i do believe this is a safety issue since my truck could just stall out and cut off at any time and i have a 5year old child. This is about the 4th time i'm reporting this to you. And i do know there is a recall with the fuel pump relay. The odometer seems to turn much faster than the distance i've traveled, my vehicle is less than 2 years old and the odometer is already up to 31,500 miles. I only have to drive it from home to work (about 10-15 miles a day).i've called the american honda and i've been told that there are several complaints about this matter.therefore, i would like you to look into this matter more seriously.thank you

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline.the contact stated that there was a water leak inside the vehicle, which caused the carpet padding to mold.he was treated for respiratory infections due to the mold.there was a service bulletin issued in july of 2005 for this failure.the current mileage is 24,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.

Only the car ,no turn on.

Purchased with cash $12,800 this car from a person falsifying identity and the odometer has been tampered.current reading is 61,500.carfax lists as 243,859.filed complaint to officer whitlock at san ramon, ca police department.police report #sr20-02565.purchased near sellers place of work in parking lot outside bank of the west as the seller requested cash.

I have an ongoing problem with un-commanded accelerator surging on my 2006 honda ridgeline.this has been addressed with both the dealer and honda customer service.after which the honda tech rep informed the dealer not to address this problem in the future.after driving some distance at constant highway speeds and then making a speed change such as passing or slowing for traffic, there is at times a un-commanded accelerator surging.

Entire warning light system failed with loss of abs and vsa.

Ac/heat fan motor overheating and causing power cable to melt...occurred to my 2006 at 35,000 and 72,000...check www.ridgelineownersclub.com and www.carcompliants.com for more incidents...possible fire damage?

The contact owns a 2006 honda ridgeline. The contact stated that all four windows have come down at times when the vehicle was parked and the engine was off. The failure did not occur while the vehicle was being driven. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that there was nothing wrong. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was approximately 69,000.

While driving the vehicle through a drive through christmas light display area, the rear sliding glass shattered while partially open. No evidence of impact was found inside or outside the vehicle. Fortunately the children were not in the vehicle rear seat at that point in time. Searching the internet, i found a forum that have several other people has had this happen to them as well.

My 2006 honda ridgeline air conditioner blower started to only work intermittently in early september.i put off taking it to the dealership and it then stopped working completely within a day or two.at that point i took it in, the dealer said it was a bad transistor. They replaced the transistor and that did not fix the problem. They then took apart the dash and said the interior air filter was clogged ( i park under a tree in my driveway ) and due to that the blower motor burned up and melted the wiring. The dealership said it would cost $2200.00 to fix, my non-dealer, ex-honda mechanic said he though it was a faulty design or a faulty transistor and heard of others having similar problems. He did not think in any way the internal air filter idea had anything to due with the blower overheating. He recommended to call honda corp in torrance ca.the consequence it i do not have ac in 90 to 100 degree weather in the san francisco bay area in california.due to the cost, i have yet to fix it, honda has done nothing and we are miserable in the heat.

Blower motor for heating/ac blew out - wires have a short.also, display that shows mileage works intermittently.sometimes the display goes out completely or is frozen.

My wife and i work together at an engineering firm. She drives our 2006 ridgeline. Our office is a small with its own parking lot. While sitting in the parking lot, the center rear glass panel exploded sending pieces of glass into the cab and into the bed of the truck. Nobody touched the truck and nothing hit it. My wife parks directly in front of her office window and has plain view of the truck. She was outside an hour earlier and it was fine. When she went outside again, the whole panel was shattered and the top right corner had fallen off. First thought was that something had hit it. I searched the bed and cab for anything as small as a bb. Found nothing. I studied the glass and looked at how it had fractured. Looking at the glass (from in the cab) the fractures all traced to a point just below the plastic trim on the right side of the window. I took out the back seats and back panels. There's a slide mechanism that opens and closes the window using a rail, a slider set in the rail, and a cable.i looked to see what was the first thing the glass hits when it's closed. I noticed a pressure switch near the bottom right corner of the window. This switch has a little square pin that sticks out. When the window closes, it pushes the pin in. This turns off the indicator that lets you know that back window is open. The pin is the first thing the window hits. It's small, hard and plastic. I pushed against it and it takes a some force to push it in. After the window starts pushing in the pin,it comes to rest on a stopper in the bottom right corner and a vertical one that runs the height of the window along the right edge. The pin is spring loaded and is constantly pushing against the window. Since all the fracture lines pointed to this pin, this is probably where the fracture originated from. Once the window reached a failure point, possibly due to repeatedly hitting the pin, the pressure of the spring loaded pin against the window supplied the force that caused it to shatter.

I purchased a 2006 honda ridgeline in june 2006 with 17,000 miles with extended warranty.the following summer in 2008 my air conditioner didn't work, no cold air.so i took it to the dealership and they said it was a hose leak and not covered under warranty.so i paid two hundred something dollars to have it fixed.the following summer of 2009 my ac didn't work again, no cold air, so i took it to a local mechanic thinking the ac had to be recharged, the mechanic couldn't figure it out and said bring it to the dealership and i did.the dealership did a diagnostic on it which cost me $175.00 just for a diagnostic, and said the problem is the clutch inside the condenser and that it will cost around $1,000.00 to fix it. I also just received a recall notice from honda on april 26, 2010 about the blower motor harness, which i have already taken care of today may 4, 2010 at a dealership and was hoping that this recall would make my ac work, but it still doesn't work. I strongly believe this is a defect on the truck and cannot afford to keep paying to get my ac fixed every summer. Thank you for your time on this matter.i would appreciate any suggestions.

My passenger rear door glass on my 2006 honda ridgeline exploded.i was parked at work where my truck was visible at all times.there was no evidence of rocks or gun shots.when i closed the drivers side door, the window shattered.the outside temperature had reached 95f, but there were several days where the temperature was hotter.

While riding down the highway the back window that opens and closes shattered all over two people in the truck. I thought all the glass in the vehicle was suppose to be safety glass. There was no reason behind the glass shattering, it just exploded. Other windows in the vehicle were also down.

I was driving on the freeway when my driver side window shattered.glass exploded and fell into door.it was loud and nearly caused an accident on the freeway.

Rear driver's side door window will not move.

Windshield stress crack.starting point was upper passenger corner and propagated to center of wind screen.dealer says it was a stone that caused the crack, there is no divot from a stone.

Total failure of windshield wipers during storm...wipers were never frozen to glass during the event.

For the second time on less then a year (despite repairs) the windshield wipers completely failed in heavy snow, disabling the vehicle.

Takata recall . This is the only vehicle available totake my brother to doctors andother tasks.informed tarine (?) from hondaof this when she questioned that i am unable to utilize the back seat ofof my suv .on july 5, 2016per honda i thought they were going to try to expedite a repair. Have not heard back. Can you help?

We have had two failures of the wheel on the honda ridgeline. One causing loss of control of the truck. The other wheel is cracked in the tire bead area and we will not drive it due to the concern for our safety.
