Takata recall

Since i purchased the car, the wheels make a cracking noice when turning and braking. Took it to the dealer 2-3 times and they told me they could not find anything that it may just be the brake pads sticking some times. Now at 55,000 miles the power steering eps and all other lights came on like a christmas tree. This had not happened in the past. I have read up on it and others have had the same problem. My main concern since i purchased it was that cracking noise when turning when backing up or turning when going forward. This only happens on starting to drive not at fast speeds. Now all the lights are on and don't know what the issue is. From research it seems like it may be something with the fuel injectors. My car is already past it's warranty.

I was stopped at a stop light and my auto idle kicked in.when i took my foot off of the brake the engine died and wouldn't start back up.i was stuck in the street, blocking traffic.i tried to restart the vehicle multiple times with no success.after the tow truck arrived, the engine was jumped and i drove it to the dealership.battery was checked and it was fine.they have been unable to repeat the problem.

While traveling south on i-95 from baltimore, md to washington d.c., near kenilworth avenue, the engine idle shutoff on my 2017 honda pilot touring engaged when i was forced to stop due to a traffic slowdown.when i took my foot off the brake, instead of restarting as it should have, all of the warning lights came on and the engine stalled.i shifted into "park", engaged my emergency flashers, and attempted to restart the engine several times without success.while stopped, i was nearly rear-ended several times because traffic started moving as soon as i took my foot off the brake.i was in a center lane and unable to exit the vehicle or move it from traffic.i was finally able to get restarted after a few minutes and several more tries.i had previously had the vehicle in for issues with the engine idle shutoff and the dealer had replaced the battery, which i thought had fixed the problem.when i took it in this time it happened they say the battery is good and "cannot duplicate the problem".there is a broad base of internet postings for this problem on 2016 - 2018 pilot elite and touring vehicles, with the 9 speed transmission.there is no way to permanently turn this feature off and i believe it represents a serious safety hazard, especially for highway travel.

The auto engine idle (aei) feature has a flaw in it that honda has apparently not identified or explained and it is a serious safety concern. Aei shuts the engine off when the car is in drive but fully stopped and, in theory, increases fuel efficiency by reducing engine idling when the car is stopped, e.g. At a stoplight or in stop-and-go traffic. While there is a button to disable it, this button has to be pressed each time you turn the car on and cannot be permanently disabled. We try to remember to always press the button and disable the feature but occasionally forget and don't realize we haven't disabled it until we come to a stop somewhere and the feature engages and the engine shuts off. Aei would just be a nuisance if it worked 100% of the time as it is designed to work but, unfortunately, it doesn't. When it works and the brake pedal is fully depressed, the engine is automatically idled, and then as you begin to lift your foot off the brake pedal, the engine quickly turns back on, you're already in drive, and you go. However, on what seems to be a completely random and unpredictable basis, sometimes when you begin to lift your foot off the brake pedal, rather than having the engine restart automatically, the entire car just goes dead. At this point, you have to frantically put the car in park and completely restart the engine. If you're lucky, this happens quickly and you're not stuck in a compromised spot with no one bearing down on you from behind but by its design you are somewhere you need and want to be moving from quickly, and it has happened at the exact moment when you try to accelerate. This has happened to both myself and my wife a handful of times in scary situations. Read all the other complaints on the internet - no service rep anywhere has an explanation. This needs to get solved before people die, if they haven't already.*dtsee updated version, too many characters.*dt

Auto engine idle will not start the car back up sometimes.if i forget to disable the auto engine auto before each trip, sometimes we will stop at a light or stop sign and the engine shuts off like it is supposed to.the problem is that periodically, the engine will not start back up when we are ready to go.the whole car shuts off and there is a specific order of pressing the brake and pushing buttons that we have to go through to start the car back up.very dangerous while sitting in traffic.has happened numerous times.have taken to dealership numerous times with no solution.i have a video of it after it is shut down, but cannot attach it because it is more than 5mb.

I noticed that auto idle would randomly turn off and on the cars electricity for a second. Today, after stopping for traffic, the auto idle kicked in and the car stalled in neutral. Warning lights appeared and i tried to follow the instructions to restart the car, but it wouldn't restart. I was unable to turn the car off. I kept trying for about 3 minutes and finally the car turned of and i was able to start the car again.

Keyless start system problem error appearing on dashboard. Vehicle has 47,000 miles on it. Electrical is going haywire in that lights intermittently turn on, all error lights flash on dash and dash tries to boot through various ignition states (accessory mode, idle, etc). Car alarm will randomly go off, and it takes several minutes to disengage alarm because key fob not working correctly when alarm is engaged. Had to disconnect car battery to make it stop. Key fob batteries were replaced 6 months ago so not that. Dealership said that they needed to order a part and that honda was aware of this issue and would pay for about 90% of the cost of parts and labor, so the manufacturer is aware that this is an issue. Dealership spent roughly 2 hours running diagnostics on it.happens randomly (3 times over the course of 4 weeks) when vehicle is parked in garage, and key fobs are sitting out, face up, not being pressed in any manner that might accidentally engage a button.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked forward and the windows functioned independently. The dealer (serra honda grandville, 4260 kenowa ave sw, grandville, mi) was unable to duplicate the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

While driving, i received an alert that "some driver assist systems cannot operate."lights indicated that the collision mitigation, and lane departure, and lights were affected.i do not want the collision mitigation system to randomly disable (or any system for that matter).the dealer performed a hard reset on my system and we'll see if it's fixed. Still, it posed a hazard to me at the time.

Huge/loud pop of radio, car doesn't beep, is still in drive, but is deadwhen: stopped but not sure that autostart is on' both times this horrible one happened, it was a very brief press on the breaks (11/5: on freeway; 11/6: at stop sign). Screens on dash popped loudly, and suddenly engine was dead.c.situation: this was not a full autostop issue, so there wasn't any expectation that it was going to restart, rather it was still in drive and the engine was going. Suddenly i am rolling backwards as engine is dead. I am still in drive, so i have to press the break to stop rolling into the car at the stop behind me! then i try to put it in park or press drive again, that doesn't work. I have to completely reboot the car by pressing break and pressing power button, then press drive. This is incredibly scary on the freeway because this was not as slow moving traffic as when the other situations happen (i.e. You are just pausing, not stopping long enough for autostop to do it's thing). D.repercussions: seems that after the huge 'pop' one of the screens under steering wheel is not working properly. There is a blank screen instead of the 'home' one which normally shows things like your cruise control following distance/set rate. Also the buttons for collision and lane departure turned off and i had to turn them on manually. E.frequency: first happened tuesday this week driving home from work, car had been parked all day, this was about 35 min into my commute., i called and made yet another appointment to have it looked at. Then it happened thenext morning, was chilly, this time happened within four minutes of starting up. F.priority: i am extremely lucky i didn't have a fender bender either time. This should never happen, you should be able to trust that your engine is going to stay running. This will also get us in an accident.

Upon exiting stop/start events(auto shut off at stop signs/lights/parking lots), engine does not restart. Instead, it shifts into park, lights up all instruments on display panel, and requires a manual restart. Vehicle is dead until restarted, posing a hazard to occupants/oncoming traffic. Has happened multiple times in past weeks. We also have read of many other owners of '16/'17 honda pilot owners having the exact same issue.

This is in regards to the idle stop "feature" of the honda pilot. When the vehicle comes to a full stop, the engine cuts off in order to save fuel like it's supposed to. However, when it is time to move again, the vehicle randomly stalls causing the car to completely turn off. This can be potentially fatal as the brakes then do not engage fully (car is off) and a message appears in console saying "to start engine: press brake and push (engine on)" . This is most definitely a safety issue especially if this happens in the middle of traffic. Honda says it is not covered under any warranty. This behavior is random and unpredictable.

We live in san francisco and do a lot of urban driving (aka, there's a ton of stop signs). When the a/c is not on, the engine turns off almost every time we stop. After owning the brand new vehicle for about a year, the radio and lights started turning off when the car would start back up at a stop sign/light. The power to the lights actually started to dim before they turned off completely. Eventually, the car failed to start back up on its own a few times. We took it in to the dealer and they replaced the starter under warranty. The problem went away. We're now 2 years + 4 months into owning the car and the lights are starting to dim again when the car is starting back up at stop signs/lights -- i'm hoping it fails again before the 3 year warranty is up so we can get it replaced again for free. This feels like a manufacturing defect to me -- one that's exacerbated by the frequency of stops in an urban environment and a starter that isn't built to withstand that kind of use. This should be investigated for a recall.

Warning light "keyless start system problem." the system error warning light comes on and off. No other issues noted. I've been reading many blogs and reviews on this issue. My concern is that my car will stop while idle. I want to make sure the proper agency is alerted to this issue in support of a recall.

The auto idle doesn't always re engage when at a stop light. Very scary. Worried about being hit from behind.

For a while now the car has had an issue with starting after the auto idle engine stop has engaged. It is slow to start, the radio and infotainment screen cut out, and there is a popping noise. When we had the car in for service last, we mentioned this and they said they couldn't replicate the issue and to record it happening. I'm supposed to drive around recording everything? this has progressed to the other night my wife was alone in the car and it completely died at a red light, with cars all around her. She was frantically trying to get it started after it said to switch to park and restart. It wouldn't start for 5-6 attempts and then finally started. This is extremely dangerous and to think it could happen with my kid in the car. We will be setting up an appointment to have it looked at again.also, the shifting of gears in the car is rough between first and second gears. It's always between 25-30 mph when the hard shift happens. It's like the car doesn't know what gear to be in. Again, the dealership can't replicate it and we should record it happening. They did a transmission service as part of the standard mileage service recommendation and thought that may fix it. It did not.

I have 30,000+ miles on my 2017 pilot elite. About a year ago, i started experiencing issues with the auto idel stop feature. I first noticed that the auto idle-stop was hesitating when the engine would start up upon lifting my foot off of the gas. Later, in conjunction with the engine hesitation, i noticed that the radio would also "cut out" and the whole car would turn off and back before being able to drive. After that, the issue progressed to the vehicle completely stalling out and i would have to push park, put my foot on the brake and then push start in order to get the vehicle to move. These stall outs are happening just as i pull out into traffic, often leaving me and my family in harm's way. This is not safe. Upon taking the vehicle to the dealer i get the standard line of "we can't reproduce the issue" and i am sent on my way only to later continually experience the issue. Not happy with honda. The nhtsa needs to make them address this issue.

When stopped long enough to engage the auto idle function the car does not always recover immediately to drive. The car completely shuts down and usually restarts. This has occurred a few times in the past couple weeks and i have been trying to capture it on video to show the dealership.yesterday it shut down and did not restart. It took many seconds (20-30) to be able to turn it back on and put it back into gear. We were stuck with cars behind us honking. When this happens all the lights on the dash light up so there is not one warning that indicates what the problem is. A car randomly failing to function is a safety issue. Especially since there is nothing the driver can do to remedy the situation. We have not taken the car in to a mechanic yet as this happened over the weekend. The car will be going to honda. An internet search shows this is not an isolated issue.

When my 2017 honda pilot touring enters idle stop mode, it has begun to stall when you release the brake to re-engage the engine. This happened first in a parking lot on 6/17/20 when leaving parking area to enter main road. Vehicle shifts into neutral. Must put it into park. Then hit start button. Then put vehicle back into drive. Took it to dealership (under warranty) on 6/23/20. Could not duplicate problem, but identified codes: p170b-dog clutch a abnormal operation, u0230-gauge lost comm w/ptg, u1281-gauge lost comm w/micu, u0199-micu lost comm w/master switch, u0180-climate control lost comm w/master switch. Technician noted in report that they inspected the freeze data, trans had no input speed, so code must have set during an idle stop. The technicians could not replicate the problem, so they reset the code and asked me to bring the vehicle back in if it happened again. While driving on the freeway on a bridge crossing the columbia river on 6/23/20, this happened again. I was in stop-and-go traffic in the center lane of the bridge. After one of many short idle stops (engine off for about 1 second) i took my foot off the brake and the engine stalled. Same issue. Shifts to neutral. Must put in park. Hit start button (twice). Engine starts. Shift back into drive. Took 30-60 seconds while traffic tries to maneuver around me. Lucky i was in the middle of the queue (not back) as taking my foot off the brakes would imply to the driver behind me that i will be moving again. Definitely a safety hazard that could ultimately lead to injury/death. I returned the vehicle to the dealership again. They did not find any codes this time. Tried to return my vehicle to me without doing anything. I argued per my previous visit that they had reset the codes and asked me to return if this recurred. Awaiting resolution.

At apprx 50k miles (march 2020), display panel intermittently indicated "keyless start system problem" and now (sept 2020) that error code is constant. For a few days recently the error code disappeared, but it came back... The code shows when you start the car. The car does start every time but i am worrying that one day it may not. I googled the problem and did some of the remedies (change the fob battery, press the brake for 30 secs while the car is on) but the error code remains. Seems a lot of others are having this issue. I called the local honda dealership and spoke with a service rep who said he comes across the problem a few times every week and does replace the keyless starter button.

Smartphone linking functions defective and disconnects while operating vehicle, causing a driver distraction with loss of navigational functions and loss of hands-free phone operation. Has been in to dealer for this condition multiple occasions. This condition most often occurs while vehicle is in motion.the audio system loses ability to adjust volume, causing a danger to the driver who is unable to turn down the audio volume. This is a safety concern with the vehicle that is unresolved.

This problem involves the auto-idle stop feature of my vehicle.while stopped in a long line of cars, and the brake pedal depressed, i had been moving forward slowly in this line.each time i take my foot off the brake pedal, the engine restarts automatically, and i pull forward. Then, when i hit the brake again and stop, the engine shuts off, but usually goes into accessory mode. First, this started to malfunction and the radio, electrical system would shut down, incorrectly, then restart once i took my foot off the brake.but then, on this particular saturday, when i took my foot off the brake one particular time...the car did not restart. The whole car, electrical system and everything shut down.i then tried to manually restart the car by putting the car in park, depressing the brake pedal, and pressing the start button.the car just clicked, and all the lights on the dash were flashing on and off. The car would not restart!! i tried over and over, and nothing! i had 40 + cars behind me in this line! everyone was beeping their horn and impatient. I then tried to put the car in neutral so i could try to push the car out of the way and the line....but the dash warning message said the car could not be put in neutral without the car being started!! the car was dead! i couldn't move it, i couldn't turn on emergency flashers, nothing! it was a bad situation.i had to call a friend to bring jumper cables to jump start the car. But it clearly was not a battery issue. The battery was checked after i got the car started again...and it is fully charged! so this was clearly a problem with the auto- idle stop feature!! i did some online research and found thousands of online complaints about this exact issue! it's put many people in very dangerous situations. I reported this to honda usa customer service. This issue needs to be addressed and a recall put in effect!

While stopped the auto stop engages turns off the engine and if the ac is running at that time, instead of the the engine restarting when the gas pedal is engaged, the car stalls and shuts down.dealer states cannot correct the issue (permanently turn off auto stop).i see multiple complaints so far related to this design error but no action in terms of recalls.

The blue tooth features are not reliable.the feature that allows me to verballytell the car to call someone is not consistently responsive.when i make a call from my phone, the car doesn't always pick it up.incoming calls consistently come in correctly. I called van's honda in green bay wisconsin and was told that this is not an issue with the honda and they recommended that i call the cell phone provider.they explained this is an i phone issue. Car is in motion. It has happened in my driveway, on city streets and also on the highway. Very unreliable.

Car was fine all day. Parked with the engine shut off for two hours whole i was waiting for my kids. When i picked them up and started the car, it has a warning. My 2017 honda pilot only has a little more than 38,000 mi and now it's saying "keyless start system problem". I have read a lot of articles with the 2016 and 2017 honda pilots having the same problem. The problem persists even after i changed my battery for my key fob, thinking it could have been the problem. I tried both key fobs, problem is still there.

Vehicle's led daytime running lights no longer operational. This is a known issue among owners and affects the visibility of the vehicle when operating during daylight hours. Further, the nighttime visibility is significantly decreased as those les lights add to the roadway illumination capabilities.

The engine with shuts off normally when i come to a stop when i have the system engaged. The problems begin when i take my foot off the break expecting the engine to start up again. What happens consistently (though not all the time) is that when i take my foot off the brake, the engine shuts off, shifts itself into nuetral, and i have trouble getting the engine to start up again.thisoccurred two separate times. I brought the car to the dealership and they can't find anything wrong with it.

The 2017 pilot stalls while in operation due to a defect in the auto-off while idle feature. When you depress the brake pedal, the engine will shut off completely and will often not restart as intended when you release the brake. The engine will also shut off if you press the auto-engine-off while idle button to deactivate the idle-off feature if pressed while completely stopped. For all of these situations it is difficult to restart the vehicle and it remains stalled on the road for more than a minute. It's terrifying. This began before 25k miles on the car - which cost around $42,000. This is happening multiple times a week. It's unacceptable for a vehicle this young to be putting families in danger.

Every few days we get a indicator that reads 'keyless start system problem'.have replaced the battery in fobs, no change. Indicator comes on when starting the vehicle & stays on until turned off, may or may not come back the next time starting it.

While at a red light, the auto idle engine feature completely stalls the vehicle.this has happened more times that i can count at this point.basically, if i leave the feature on, at some point in route, it will stall.of course, i have brought it in several times to the dealership to be told that nothing is wrong with the vehicle and the computer doesn't register/read any kind of code or error.when the brake pedal is completely depressed, the vehicle shuts down, radio, lights everything.when the brake is released, it seems to try to fire up, but stalls instead.lights are projected onto the dash saying "to start engine: brake + pedal".this does not immediately start the car.it takes several tries and lately i have found that i have to keep my foot off of the pedal and hit the start button to turn "off" the vehicle (even though it is already stalled).then, i can start it.i am always in a busy intersection at a red light when this occurs which is frightening.it has taken up to two minutes to get it restarted and lights have turned green, horns have been blasted and i have been swerved around by oncoming (behind) vehicles.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced various electrical failures while driving and stationary. The contact stated that the security alarm independently activated without incidence. The contact also stated that an abnormal crackling sound was coming from the engine with several warning lights flashing on the instrument panel. After replacing the battery, the headlights independently illuminated while the vehicle was shut-off. The contact restarted the vehicle and manually turned off the headlights however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuse box needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the nhtsa. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

My 2017 honda pilot elite is equipped with the auto start/stop "feature". This feature can be disabled, but not permanently - you have to remember to turn it off every time you start the car. Several times over the last few months my car has totally died when i'm at stop lights or intersections. The auto start/stop feature engages and shuts the engine off, but when i take my foot off the brake the engine sputters and dies, and the car moves to neutral. I've figured out at this point that i need to shift to park, and then push the start button, but sometimes it takes several tries to start. The last time this happened i was in the middle of the busiest intersection in town with cars whizzing around me. It was absolutely terrifying.today i took the car to the honda dealer and they said that they couldn't recreate it (it doesn't happen every time) and there's no error code so "at this point" there's nothing they can do. They said they'd not heard of this issue before, but a quick google search turned up many forums on which people are raising this very dangerous, potentially deadly issue. Here's a sample:https://www.piloteers.org/threads/elite-shuts-off-at-stop-light.157005/https://www.carproblemzoo.com/honda/pilot/engine-shut-off-without-warning-problems.phphttps://community.cartalk.com/t/2017-honda-pilot-stalling-at-intersections/161704https://www.carcomplaints.com/honda/pilot/2016/engine/engine.shtmlhttps://www.vehie.com/complaints/honda?vehie_model=piloti'm now looking at trading this car in for a vehicle that doesn't have this "feature" but am worried about the family that purchases the car - it's not fair to them. Please make honda recall the vehicles with this "feature" and let us disable the feature permanently, rather than every time we start the car.

The car would not go into reverse and when it finally did and we pulled out we received a transmission problem warning

About 6 months ago, when my car had less than 30k miles.my car would stall while the car was in "auto idle-stop mode".initially, i first noticed that the auto idle-stop was hesitating when it would start up.then things got worse and i noticed that the radio would turn off and i'd hear all of the chimes like when i start the car.i brought my car to honda to have this fixed.they said it was the computer and claimed they fixed it.the problem still continues.i also had a conversation with the service manager and he promised he would inform honda corporate.i never received any follow up.i googled this problem and have found out i'm not the only one. This is dangerous because sometimes i need to make a turn and my car has stalled and adds a few seconds.there are other people experienceing the same problem:https://www.piloteers.org/threads/elite-shuts-off-at-stop-light.157005/

Keyless start system problem

Stopping the full electrical system turns on then off.this happened at traffic lights in the city, on a hill with stop sign in san francisco or city, it also happens in drive through basically whenever you stop from a moving motion. The dash information system flashes and flickers, the pilot then has to be put into park and push start button to turn the motor back on.this has.been dangerous as this issue has burned out a battery and had to tow the pilot to the dealership and they didn't reimburse and said it was a maintenance battery issue.i have followed my wife in another car and the tail lights and the license plate light flicker.this is intermittent as the dealership will not investigate as they can't duplicate this issue,

Have a 2017 honda pilot touring with 39k miles. Usually the car goes into 'accessory' mode when the auto idle stop kicks in but a couple of months ago something new started- i experienced a total stall for the first time, and it has happened 3 more times since. The car turned completely off, but it did not restart automatically. The dashboard was lit up with problems. I put the car in park and frantically tried to restart it as i was on a highway in traffic. Once it was restarted, i disabled auto idle stop and i've been disabling it ever since. However, this is a manual fix and is not always something one remembers to do, especially since we have a new 16-year-old driver entering the fray in our home soon. After researching this extensively online, there appears to be a knee-jerk reaction from honda to replace the batteries in these affected vehicles, but it is not stopping the issue, according to multiple accounts. The nhtsa has many documented cases of this and it is an obvious safety issue, but no recall is yet in place. Called honda usa customer service at 9:30 am today and verified there are no recalls regarding this problem and if the car is out of warranty that there would be no financial relief for necessary parts/labor related to this issue.

Keyless start system problem. Deelership said the problem is with the push button engine start stop and had to be replaced and said itā€™s a common problem.

The vehicle when stopped or at low speeds when idling, flips from drive to neutral. The the battery lights red and the oil lights red on the dash. The vehicle seemingly shuts off. You have to put it in park, press the start/stop button and the vehicle restarts. It generally happens several times in a row episodically, but not over long stretches of time. It seems impossible to replicate until it happens the next time.

For roughly the last 4 months, my car stalls at a stop (stop sign, traffic light, etc) by shifting itself into neutral.the car has a push button gear shift and the warning light says to shift the car into park.sometimes, i can shift the car into park and sometimes i can't shift the buttons at all.if i am able to shift into park, a message on my dashboard lights up and stays 'to shift from p, engine must be running'. Either way, i have to turn my car off and back on again in order to be able to drive.the first time this problem happened, i called the dealer and they thought that possibly something got lodged in the gear shift.however, as time goes on, these events become more and more common. Our local honda dealer had my car for roughly a week in june and tried to recreate the problem.they were unable to duplicate it and did a factory reset. That worked for about a month.now, the stalling happens at least once a week and yesterday it happened three times in the matter of an hour.when i took the car to the dealer in june, it had also stalled three times in an hour.i feel at high risk driving the vehicle because cars get impatient behind me and start moving when the light turns green even though i can't move.or, if cars are approaching a green light, they probably won't realize that i am unable to move making this a huge safety concern.this problem happens everywhere but on the highway.

July of 2019: wife complains the vehicle starts back up under protest from the start stop system when driving in stop and go traffic (more so on hot days) on city streets. Eventually, vehicle intermittently stalls when she tries to resume travel from start stop mode. Vehicle eventually restarts after 120 seconds or more. Problem occurs on multiple occasions. Vehicle taken to dealer, dealer claims they cannot replicate the problem. However, testing shows a bad cell in the battery (just out of warranty). Battery replaced. Problem seems to be sorted temporarily (although my wife routinely disables the start stop function to avoid the potential problem). May of 2020: same problem as before, car stalls when trying to resume travel after start stop mode. Vehicle won't restart for a few minutes and cannot be pushed out of harms way. It stands to reason that the issue is probably not the battery, the battery is oem and less than a year old.the most worrisome aspect of the situation is this. When the vehicle stalls (i.e., the engine is not running) the vehicle cannot be placed in neutral (without going under the hood and using a special tool) and pushed to safety. Hence, the vehicle is absolutely stranded until it restarts. This is a dangerous situation when stalled in rush hour traffic.

Auto idle stopped engine waiting in traffic and then it would not restart.i took my foot off the brake, pressed the gas and nothing would work. Eventually, i was able to get the vehicle in park, turn it "off" and then turn it back on.

The auto engine idle stop system problem warning message presented. Dealership cannot find anything wrong- but light appears in dashboard when car is turned off and will not alarm.

My wife has reported on several occasions that when the idle-stop feature is turned on and the vehicle has come to a stop, the engine cuts as intended but will not restart when pressure is released from the brake.numerous lights within the instrument panel, with the exception of the check engine light, illuminate, the transmission shifts itself into neutral.the vehicle says to shift into "park", press and hold the brake and restart the vehicle using the start/stop button.i have tried to duplicate this while driving the vehicle.yesterday, this same occurrence happened to me only i was not able to readily restart the vehicle.this latest occurrence happened in heavy traffic at a busy intersection.my wife reports having had this occur at least six to seven times, once while in traffic on the freeway.i have brought the vehicle to honda in the past because of the vehicle jjuttering at low speeds and because of this issue.each time i was told that because no error code was found and the issue could not be duplicated, there was nothing they could do.this issue is a potential disaster waiting to happen.

Vehicle will not restart after engine auto idle engages.when lifting foot off the brake to begin driving car will not restart and says you must go into park and press brake. Radio and lights are still on. Even after shifting into park and pressing brake it will not start.after removing foot from brake and pressing stop car will completely turn off. We can then press start and car will usually start within three or four tries.this has happened about 10 times, with the last being in the center lane of a major freeway.traffic came to a stop and when we started going again i was completely stuck in the middle lane with cars going all around me.has also happened multiple times at stoplights and in drive throughs.i try and always disable this feature but forget sometimes.

There is an intermittent problem on my 2017 honda pilot elite that continues to get worse with the auto engine idle.when it engages (i.e., stops the engine such as at a stop light), at times it would barely start back up again.when these problems occur, when it restarted after the auto engine idle was engaged, it sounded like a car trying to start with a bad battery - it barely turned over, but finally did start.however, on 5/11/2021, it did not start at all after the auto engine idle engaged.i was at a stoplight and had several cars behind me.i was on a slope and was able to put the car in neutral and pull it off to the turn lane and out of traffic.i tried several times and was finally able to start the car up again.there is no doubt that the problem will continue to get worse until somebody can diagnose it.i've searched discussion boards and found several other people with the same problem but i've not found a diagnosis yet.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. The contact stated that the vehicle lost power while traveling on an incline. Also, the brake pedal was soft and traveled to the floorboard when being depressed. In addition, the collision and brake warning indicators illuminated. The contact drove to ryan honda of minot (3701 s broadway, minot, nd 58701, 701-852-1111) to be diagnosed, but no failure was found. The contact also stated that certain electrical features on her vehicle sporadically failed to operate when needed. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 25,000.

Driving to work in the morning after owning the car for a few years and and dash displays "keyless start system problem".

My wife was driving the vehicle on 09-27-18 and the vehicle lost power, the dash lit up orange, and several warning lights cane on and started beeping.as she attempted to pull over to the side of the road, the issue reset itself, and the vehicle resumed power again.the vehicle was taken to honda for a final repair for transmission issues the following day.it is 9 days later and the vehicle is still not repaired.per the service advisor, the dealership has replaced 3 wiring harnesses under the dash that they say were defective from the factory, along with 2 modules.the vehicle is unsafe to drive in its current state, as it itermittently loses power.the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership in august due to the push button transmission going into neutral while driving, and losing forward power.the vehicle would not go into park or neutral.

Started vehicle and getting ready to back out of garage and suddenly these six problem lights came on in dashboard!

The keyless start system problemlight willnot shift off.

Car shuts down completely t a stop position and computer readout instructions are to put the car in park and then go thru initial start actions.purchased car in feb 2019, problem started within days of purchase.returned it to dealer multiple times with no improvement, feb 26th 2020 took car to dealer again due to this problem and the radio effected the last shut down time with a loud buzzing noise.was informed they would have to keep car overnight so the valve clearance could be checked while car was cool.i have found that this problem has been ongoing for four years.it is unsafe and very nerve racking when your car dies through no failure of the driver and other impatient motorist sounding their horn because you aren't moving.one has to worry about one of those impatient drivers not paying attention to what's going on and hitting their gas pedal when the traffic light goes green and all of a sudden you are rear ended.four years is long enough, even i realize that this problem didn't start with these cars until the introduction of the electronic computer shifting and the auto stop shut down process was introduced in these cars.this shut down of the engine has only happens on public streets and when the vehicle is stationary.honda of gainesville, fl has an open case on my vehicle.records are on hand if needed.

Twice the exhaust light and all panel lights has come up. The fist time the car was a few months old and the car was not even on, it happen when car was started. They fix the first time the second time they charge us even the car is not 50000 miles old.

The vehicle has started jerking while accelerating.

Few minutes after mywife got home the car alarm began beeping and there was a fire coming from the engine of the car. We called 911 and the fire kept getting bigger. Once the fire departmentarrived and put out the fire we saw a huge damage on the car. We don't know how the fire could have started while theengine was off . We are concerned about the safety of this company's car.

Electrical issues include keyless entry system failure, auto-lock no longer locking the vehicle as you walk away from it, crash mitigation system failure, radio stations no longer coming in clear.has happened several times and the dealership says that they have adjusted something but then it happens again.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the vehicle shut-off while depressing the brake pedal. There were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The police were called to scene as multiple attempts to shift the vehicle into neutral or to restart the vehicle failed. The contact was finally able to restart the vehicle and received a police escort to west broad honda (7014 w broad st, richmond, va 23294) however, a diagnostic test was still pending. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

After exiting an interstate highway and stopping at a stop sign, the auto-stop feature engaged. When the brake was released the engine started and the car moved forward a few feet then shut down completely. There was a momentary warning to put the car in park, but it disappeared when the electrical system completely shut down and all screens went blank. I pressed the brake pedal and the start button, but the engine did not start. I released and pressed the brake again and the car started. The transmission was in park and i had to push the drive button several times for it to engage. Luckily there was no traffic because i was blocking the exit and the road. After the engine started it took some time for all the systems to power up.

This is the 4th time now that we have had to bring out pilot in to be serviced for the same thing.when we turn the car on, multiple errors come on out of nowhere.power steering, the speedometer and many other things stop working.they reset it and it happens again.they have changed the battery and done something with the alternator but neither of these things fixed the actual problem.

I had started noticing the radio clicking on/off at stoplights.after a while, it progressively got worse and noticed the car was also slightly jerking too as the car re-started.i called the dealer and they said they were not familiar with the issue.days before my warranty expired in 2020, i took the vehicle in and they said they were not able to re-create the issue and did not see any error codes.i received the mil warranty extension letter recently and wondered if that was the same issue, but it does not appear so.however upon researching that, i found many similar complaints online about the auto idle stop issues.i am grateful my car has never stalled (yet) but that is probably because i have very low mileage.however i am scared to drive the car now and always disable the auto idle stop, hope that i don't forget which i do sometimes and am fearful should my teenagers ever have to drive my car!thankfully their honda civics don't have this feature.this is a serious safety hazard!there are too many similar complaints so please force honda to recall and fix the problem.i bought this new car since it was supposed to be more advanced and safer than the 15 year old car it replaced.it does have some great advances but should not be compromised or come at the cost of safety.

Different warning problems shows up on dashboard comes on and off sometimes. Took it to a honda dealership and they say its fuel injectors.

I own a 2017 honda pilot. It has 28,000 miles on it.there have been 5 times in the last 3 months that while driving less than 40 mph, the collision mitigation braking system engaged and caused the vehicle to brake without warning.i sent an email with a full description of the issue to van's honda in green bay, wisconson.i received a phone call back and was told that the system is overly sensitive.there is a camera on the windshield and it sometimes picks up a glare.the rep at van's said the car can not be repaired.

Two times my 2017 honda pilot with only 2600 miles on it has lost engine power at speeds of 45 plus miles per hour.the service engine now light flashes along with all other system warnings including emission warnings, vehicle stability warnings, and engine power failure warnings.i have read at least 30 other complaints on the internet about this happening.it is extremely dangerous if there is no shoulder and tractor trailers behind you like happened to me.i was five miles from a safe exit on an uphill incline.this is a very bad accident waiting to happen.car also feels like it is misfiring often leading up to these events over three days.vehicle is at dealer a second time, but i am very concerned about what i will be told.the first time i was told nothing is wrong.from what i have researched honda is aware of this problem as early as february 2016 and is still not acknowledging it.

The contact stated that the traction control, anti-lock brakes, hill assist, vehicle stability assist, and trailer stability assist warning indicators illuminated and remained lit. The vehicle was taken to honda village (371 washington st, newton, ma) where it was diagnosed, but the failures could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000. The vin was not provided.

After the engine started it took some time for all the systems to power up.

The engine auto stop/ start feature turned the car off while i was stopped at traffic light. I attempted to disable this feature by pressing the stop/ start button which turned the vehicle completely off. I made several attempts to start the vehicle. First, i tried pressing the start button with my foot on the break. Second, i shifted the car into park and pressed the break pedal down and then pressed the start button, still didn't start. I then opened the door and quickly closed it and repeated the last process over again and it still wouldn't start. At that time the display instructed me to press the start engine button twice. By this time the traffic light cycled once which really pissed off everyone behind me! (this has happened to me 2 times and to my wife 6 times in the last 18 months)

Vehicle stalls after trying to return to normal idle after the idle-stop system has been engaged. Vehicle may take up to 5 minutes to restart. Vehicle has a fly-by-wire push button transmission so the vehicle cannot be placed into neutral and pushed out of harms way without the engine running (which it isn't since it stalled and won't restart). Dealership "fixed" the problem in 2019 by installing a new battery which was warrantied for a bad cell. Problem returns in 2021.dealership declares the battery good and claims that they cannot replicate the problem, nor have they heard of this issue previously.and possibly related to all of the above: vehicle ran normally (i.e., engine running normally) until all indicator lights came on and remained on. Dealer claims a new camshaft and associated parts are needed to fix this "new" problem.

When using the auto idle stop the car will sometimes completely shut down. We could be rear ended if somebody behind us doesnā€™t realize that we are stopped.honda has looked at it multiple times. They say they can not duplicate it so they canā€™t fix it.

Car stalls at stops. Took to dealer they changed battery and it is still happening.

Idle stop system sensor fail..when can stops the engine shuts off but i did not came back on!! a lot of lights came on with instructions while i was at a busy light.. Went to the dealer and it was close to $1,000 for the repair.. They said its a known issue.. Please do a recall.

My car has the auto idol on/off feature. The car started turning the radio off when i sit at a light and the idol turns the car off. This had happened for a bit but we have now graduated to a total stall out. This has happened to me twice now. Once at a light the 2nd time on the highway sitting in traffic. It's very nerve wrecking trying to get your car to restart as traffic is flying past you. I have to put the car in park and restart the whole car. The process takes a few minutes. I can't imagine if this would do this in the middle of an intersection for example when i'm turning left. The dealer can not reproduce this and no errors are being thrown and they have never heard of this.i find this very convenient seeing as a quick google search shows this is a known issue. How has this not been recalled by honda. I'm very scared this could cause an accident

The auto idle stop feature was enabled at the time. We came to a complete stop on the interstate highway due to traffic. When traffic cleared and i attempted to resume driving, the engine died completely and pressing the start button would not re-start the engine. We were stuck with a dead engine in the middle of the highway for about a minute before the engine finally restarted.this happened three additional times since the original incident.i've taken the car to the dealer but their service technicians were unable to replicate the issue or diagnose the problem.

When vehicle comes to a stop with the auto engine idle shut off, the car completely shuts down and takes a few minutes to restart. This happened repeatedly today (7/1//2020) driving around town.

The auto idle stop feature activated at a light, but when it normally reactivates (taking foot off the brake, placing foot on the accelerator, or moving steering wheel) the engine did not come back on, the transmission changed to neutral, and some warning lights flashed. A car coming up on the light behind me anticipated me accelerating, but i couldn't start the engine for about 30 seconds.my safety (and of the 5 other passengers) was put at risk by the mal-performance of the feature.the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer.the vehicle has not been inspected by others.there were no signs of the problem prior to the failure.

Auto engine idle stop system - restart failure.typical even below:1)auto engine idle stop -engages normally (i.e. Engine stops at light). 2)when time for engine to restart, it doesnā€™t restart, the mid shows error message and instructs driver to "place car in park". 3)next message is typically to step on brake and press start. 4)this restart process in never quick but often 20-30 seconds. This issue puts me at a risk of being rear ended at a green light and is a safety issue! i would make the car available for inspection. The dealer has not been able to reproduce.however, it has occurred 3 x in the last 1000 miles.other than the dealer, no one else has inspected. No warnings were received before it first nor subsequently appeared. I believe this first appeared in summer 2019. It appeared multiple times in 2020 and again in 2021.i took it to the dealer in 2019 and 2020.i will schedule another dealer appoint now.

When stopping vehicle at stop light or stop sign, vehicle engages an automatic engine stop (turn-off) when the brake is depressed. Upon releasing the brake the engine should automatically start and allow continued operation.on one occasion the vehicle stalled when attempting to re-start and would not start for several minutes while in traffic. Many error lights illuminated.on 5-10 other occasions the vehicle hard a difficult time starting, and many error lights illuminated, but eventually succeeded in starting.the battery was checked and confirmed to be within spec.this appears to be a known issue with the starter that honda has not addressed.

2017 honda pilot elite, all maintenance performed at dealership service department. Vehicle randomly does not automatically restart after auto idle stop engages when in stop-go traffic on freeway or when stopped at intersection, resulting in a stalled vehicle in the middle of freeway or intersection. Attempts to manually restart the vehicle generally successful after frantically (or slowly!) pushing the start-stop button several times.this is a dangerous situation as i could not restart the vehicle on a fast moving roadway. Not easily reproduced as it is a randomly occuring event. First appeared at approx 35-40k miles.

Our 2017 honda pilot started turning on every warning light in the driver console and also indicated a problem with every system in the car - safety systems, collision avoidance systems, emissions systems, etc..these lights turned on and would not turn off.it also started running very roughly.we took it into smart honda in des moines to diagnose the problem. They indicated the fuel injectors needed to be replaced and they were not covered under the drivetrain warranty - no idea why that's the case. We declined, the lights turned off, and then back on again over several weeks.we don't feel safe driving the car given that it's telling us all the safety systems are faulting.researching this issue, it appears that many many owners of similar versions of the pilot are experiencing a problem.honda refuses to help resolve the issue and it's clearly a systemic problem with the vehicle. My family feels very unsafe in the vehicle now and honda needs to take ownership of this problem and resolve for all the customers experiencing it.

The engine can die when idling at a stop sign or stop light for no apparent reason.one time it even died as i was in motion.again for no apparent reason.the car has an auto engine idle stop feature. If you push the button the disable this gas saving feature then you no longer have this issue.biggest issue is the you can easily get rear ended because the engine dies out of the blue for no apparent reason.per on line viewing, this is a very common issue with hondas between 2016-2019.please let me know if you need any more information. Thank you for your time and consideration in reviewing this issue. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While driving various speeds and attempting to turn the steering wheel in either direction, the vehicle accelerated rapidly on its own without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped and resumed normal operation automatically. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (atlantic honda, 1375 sunrise hwy, bay shore, ny 11706 (631) 665-0005) where it was diagnosed, but no failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,000.

On 25 july 2021, i was in stop and go traffic on i-5 south when my start stop function on my 2017 honda pilot elite failed to restart. All the lights lit up on my instrument cluster. My vehicle was unable to restart for about 1 minute as i was frantically trying to shut off my vehicle and restart it repeatedly. I was worried about a vehicle slamming into me with my family in the car. Since that day it has happened a few more times where the start stop function has failed and the engine failed to restart at traffic lights or busy intersections. Today i was able to catch it on video. If you would like me to send you the video from today, please let me know the email address. I have an appointment on saturday but when i went by the honda dealership today, they tested my battery and they said it was good and gave me a print out attached below.

Stalling while at stop or going downhill at low speeds.

Occasional he when the auto start stop function is activated the car will die and not turn back on. After the car has died and you release your foot from the break nothing happens andmultiple lights will turn on the dashboard but the car will not restart unless you put it in park press the start button multiple times. This is very frustrating and very dangerous especially if youā€™re sitting outside at a busy intersection. Iā€™ve seen numerous reports of this on the internet and itā€™s been going on over the last several months. I tried to take the vehicle to the dealer and they told me it was not anything they can cover on the warranty iā€™d have to pay out of pocket.

When i've been stopped at a red light i've taken my foot off the brake to hit the gas pedal.before i tough the gas, the dashboard shows an "emissions system problem" light and the engine dies.i've had to frantically restart the car and was almost rear-ended.it's happened 5 times.i had reported this problem to dealer and they were of no help.they said they checked the computer and there was no history of any issue.again, i'm writing to document this concern as it's dangerous the honda dealers need to know how to address the problem.i've looked online and i am not the only person who has reported this issue.what is the solution? this condition is not safe and needs to be fixed.

Idle engine-off system on several occasions has failed to restart engine while stopped during normal driving.car remains in drive and engine stalls.auto must be completely shut off and restarted for engine to restart.this is extremely unsafe as it has occured while stopped at lights in busy intersections.

Today, 01/8/2019, the emissions system problem warning appeared on dash while driving car at approximately 45mph. Vehicle was in economy mode. Just had the vehicle in the shop for b01 service two days ago. Blogs state that it is a know fuel injector or fuel injector rail problem.

Within the past two month, this vehicle has stall at least 5 times after the auto stop idle engage at a stop light and at intersection. The vehicle will come to a full stop and the auto stop idle engage but the vehicle fails to restart after i take my leg off the break pedal. I will then have to turn the car off and restart it before it starts again. This has put me and my family in a very dangerous and unsafe condition in traffic. I've also been having an intermittent error message on the dash that says "high beam support system problem" it comes up at random times and flashes for about 30 seconds and disappears. I took the car to the lehigh valley honda dealer in emmaus pa and initially they said the problems where related to a low voltage but after replacing the battery the problems persist. The car is currently at the dealership and they can't seem to tell me exactly what the issue is.

Check engine light for emissions system problem. Code p219a came up. They ended up having to replaced the fuel injectors at 25,400 miles. Our warranty is up in march. I called honda to see if they would still fix the issue after the warranty is up. They advised that any issues would be an out of pocket expense. They are aware it is a known issue with 2016-2018 pilots.

Engine malfunction light comes on and indicates emission control problem..low and erratic power. Checked code and it was p0430 related to fuel injectors and fuel pump.

The engine shuts off while driving and while stopped at a light. Very unsafe. Hand the transmission replaced a few months ago but the problem is still happening.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. Also, the brake pedal was applied, but failed to respond. The contact stated that it was difficult to keep the vehicle aligned while driving. The vehicle was taken to scott honda of west chester (706 autopark blvd, west chester, pa 19382, (610) 692-6000). The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65.

When the auto stop start is on when stopped at a traffic light or any stop for that matter the car sometimes stalls out or it has a delayed restart where the radio and car sounds like it turns off and then back on and then you can go. Sometimes it completely stalls and you have to put the car in park and restart it. It started happening randomly now it is happening more often. It happens a lot when i am driving around town it has not happened when i was driving on the highway.

While driving on the highway, my 2017 pilot elite spontaneously accelerated and rpms revved.i tapped the brakes and it returned to the normal speed.traffic was sparse, but if it had been busier this could have easily caused a collision.

I have a 2017 honda pilot touring awd (purchased in dec 2017) and experienced the auto-idle stop stall numerous times. The issue occurs when the car is stopped (at a traffic light) and the auto engine idle is on, when i lift the brake to press the accelerator, the car shuts off the engine completely, puts itself in neutral or park, and requires me to put the car in park (if not there already) and restart (press brake and ignition button).i then struggle to start the car (attempting multiple times) and restore it to drive. This is a major safety issue that occurs in the middle of traffic.i can't image stopping on a railroad track for any sustained time. It should be immediately addressed with honda for recall action.

The honda pilot is equipped with an idle-stop, where the engine shuts down to save on fuel economy when for example stopped at a stoplight.over the last year i have had major issues with the idle stop feature 10-12 times.i will be stopped at a light, feel the engine shut off, then when it is clear to go i move my foot from the brake to the gas and the engine will kill.the car has then killed while in drive so i have had to frantically get the car to park, and try to restart.however, it usually takes a minute or two to get the car to start up again.a few times cars we coming around a corner and i was still stopped at the now green light.it was very scary being stalled in now moving traffic.i haven't figured out if there is something that makes it kill, it just seems to be sporadic.when i took it into honda to have it check out they said they couldn't see any issues and couldn't get the car to replicate what i had described.i have read about many other drivers experiencing this same stalling issue from the idle stop, but honda is not doing anything to help customers.having your car kill on you in the middle of the road over and over again is a very nerve racking feeling.

The auto shut off when the brake is fully deployed fails when pressure is released and the car will not re-energize. Leaving a car dead at a light that just turned green. Requires me to put car in park, then restart then put into drive. This is a safety hazard. No error lights. Auto shop can't fix. Must remember to manually shut off the auto shut off each time the car is turned on. Not safe. I have almost been rear ended several times as the car behind expected to go at the just then green light. At one light no cars were stopped behind me but a car approached a light that had been green didn't realize i was stopped with a failed engine. Scary. It happens everyday.

The auto idle feature in my car my car off completely and then won't allow it restart immediately. It causes a stall at lights. It often takes trying to start the car for several minutes before it will turn back on. This has happened several times. It can never be fixed by the dealer. They don't know how to replicate the issue in the shop.

My vehicle has an auto stop function that occurs when i stop the car.when i press the accelerator, the engine starts back up.periodically, i have had an issue with the vehicle not starting back up. I have to put the car in park and press the start button several times until it starts back.this has put me in some very dangerous situations.the dealership has not been able to produce the same issue.it has been occurring more often and i am concerned for my safety.i have read numerous complaints about the same issue.

My 2017 honda pilot touringā€™s engine wonā€™t turn on after stop while using the idle stop . The idle stop option has to be cancel in order to drive and stop with out engine getting shut off

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While the vehicle was stopped with the auto idle engaged and air conditioner activated, the brake pedal was released and the vehicle stalled. Also, the gear shifter went into park. The contact had to press the engine start button several times for the vehicle to restart. All the warning indicators on the instrument cluster were illuminated. The contact called honda of covington (100 holiday square blvd, covington, la 70433, (985) 892-0001), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 63,500.*asthe consumer stated a software update was installed and a battery check, but the problem persists.

The car would not go into reverse and when it finally did and we pulled out we received a transmission problem warning

I just purchased my honda certified '17 pilot elite one month ago. I would notice that the car would lag when using the auto idle stop function, it would sputter, and eventually and now multiple times, it would stall out at a stop light or stop sign when i was in auto idle-stop and took my foot off of the brake to go. My honda pilot stalled in the middle of an intersection, waiting to turn left, of a busy main highway, with my husband and young children inside. When it was safe to turn, took foot off of the brake and the car stalled. It took many frantic attempts to get the car to turn back on to be able to move safely out of the intersection. This car has placed myself and my family in danger now on multiple occasions. Took to dealership where they inform that they have never heard of this happening, and that they do not know what is wrong. Car has been to the dealership twice for same issue now, in one month.

Keyless start system malfunction.

Honda pilot elite does not auto re-start condition after going into an auto idle stop.i tried to re-start the vehicle by placing the gear into the park position and pressing the start button.this leaves me stranded at a stop lights and signs and imposes risk to self and others.

At approx. 40,000 miles and after only 2 years of ownership, emissions problem dash warnings illuminated during normal use. Dealer diagnostic reveals all fuel injectors need replacement. Discovered that this problem is known to honda's to affect 2016 and 2017 honda pilot models. An internal service bulletin revealed that the problem was due to an error during manufacturing, yet no recall has been announced and honda is not assisting customers in repairing the issue. Instead, honda ian leaving customers to pay $1,500 to replace the fuel injectors. Fuel injectors should last the entire life of a vehicle. Honda should be liable for this problem which is well-known and researched as their responsibility.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. Also, the transmission warning indicator illuminated and a message to "stop driving transmission problem" displayed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home and was able to restart; however, a message displaying "emission system problem" appeared. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was waiting to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,200. The vin was not available.

Emissions system problem warning came on and stayed on vehicle at 61,000 milesdealership states fuel ejectors are contaminated and must be replaced. This is a recurring issues with honda pilots since 2016.

Getting an emmissions system warning on vehicle. Vehicle has under 50k miles. Issue caused vehicle to lose power at highway speeds and was unable to maintain highway speed. Vehicle is displaying two obd fault codes p2652 p0430.

Stalling at idle stop. Took to dealer. Changed battery (200$). Problem continues. Took it back to dealer they couldn't replicate.

Check engine light indicates an emissions problem at 52000 miles. Dealership recommends fuel injector replacement although vehicle has been properly serviced at every milestone. Many other 2016-1019 pilot owners complaining about the same issue.

I take my 3 year old, 60k mile honda pilot in for emissions system problem light. I am presented with the following fault codes: 19-072 mil comes on with dtc p0430 or dtc p0430 with p030x, p219a, p219b (with software update) - include all parts from bulletini need a full fuel injector replacement at the cost of $2,000. This is clearly an issue with the 2016-2018 pilot, but honda has issued no recalls. Fuel injectors failing at 20-70k miles?!

Vehicle hesitation between 1st and 2nd at 1000 to 2000 rpm's. Loosing power...

While idle at red light, the automatic idol activated when i press brake with consistent pressure. When i released the brake to start going forward and engage the gas pedal; all red light indicators turned on (parking brakes and shifted into neutral) and the car fully siezed up. No power, no ability put car in park or drive. I attempted to put in park and start car with on/off switch but got no reaction from car . No brake function. I sat in an unresponsive vehicle at 4-way red light intersection. I activated my emergency flashers yet. I repetitively kept pushing power button in effort for car to respond and restart, eventually did and was able to drive off. Working on taking into dealership. This happened approx 1 month ago, a very similar situation occurred again today 6/27/2021 on i45 returning form austin tx.

A known a reported issue by others, the auto idle engine function has caused our car to completely shut off at various times requiring us to put the car back in park and restart the engine.this is a clear safety concern as it has happened at stop lights, on the road, etc.

While driving on the street, the engine stall in the middle of the road. I had to start the engine again.imagine if i were driving on the highway and it happened like this. It would cause a major accident. It has been happened twice already.

Auto engine idle stop: stalling when active

While stopped at an intersection with the brake pedal depressed and the airconditioning on, the engine went into idle/fuel saving shut down mode as expected. When the brake pedal was released and the accelerator pressed to move forward again, the engine stalled out and numerous dash warning lights illuminated. I put the car in the park and was able to restart the car, but only after several attempts. Fortunately i was in my neighborhood and not at a busy intersection in heavy traffic. This is the first occurrence i've had. I have no idea why the problem occurs other than the idle switch, if there is such a thing, is failing. I bought the car new in va, dec 2017 and it has only 18000 miles, now in fl. I've just read numerous other complaints relating the same or similar situations.many people report the situation worsens with time and most have had no resolution from their honda dealerships. Isn't it time for honda to be told to fix this problem before someone has an accident or gets injured??

The car stalls out at traffic lights and stop signs due to a failure of the automatic idle start/stop feature.it appears this is a common issue that there is no known repair for.it creates for an unsafe driving situation when the car does not go when the light turns green.i am waiting for the day i am rear ended by someone not paying attention.

The vehicle has started jerking while accelerating.

From a stop, at times when i take my foot off the brake with the auto-engine idle set to "on", when i try to accelerate, the engine will cut off.the car puts itself in either neutral or park, then i have to restart the car - depress brake and press button - after 30 seconds to a minute.i was lucky not to have been rear-ended since at a green light, other drivers go, and do not expect a driver in front of them to stop.

While driving my 2017 honda pilot (touring, awd) on the freeway at about 60-65 mph, when i press on the gas pedal and try to accelerate, the pedal goes limp and goes all the way to the floor, the rpm's go to zero and the car gas pedal is not responsive. The car coasts and there is no resistance to the pedal either. No warning lights are shown on the dashboard and i am not using cruise control either. After pressing down repeatedly on the gas pedal for about 15-20 seconds, the gas pedal starts working again. This is a big safety issue, since the car gas pedal is completely unrepsonsive, so i cannot accelerate to change lanes, avoid another car or person, etc. And this occurs at random times. Also, when driving at low speeds, the gas pedal is often unresponsive and lags for about 3-5 seconds when i press on the pedal, making the car hesitate. Also, when the car changes gears, it is often very jerky (not smooth) and this occurs randomly. I took the honda pilot to the honda dealer where i purchased the car and they duplicated all of the problems reported above and also documented error codes via their computer while driving the honda pilot. The dealer has had the car since may 5, 2021 and has not been able to fix it so far, despite working with the honda "tech-line". So the dealer requested an "expert" from honda in torrance, ca (headquarters i'm told) to come to the dealer on-site, but the expert cannot arrive until may 21, 2021. The honda service person told me they have recorded many error codes, but some of the codes are ā€œnot current codesā€¯, so they don't know how to fix it so far.

Every time we drive at night, oncoming drivers turn their brights on, thinking our led headlights on bright.took it to dealer, they said there is no cure. ( gurley leep honda, elkhart, in. Bought the vehicle new. Did not talk to dealer until another owner of a 2017, confirmed he had the same problem.

Vehicle's led daytime running lights no longer operational. This is a known issue among owners and affects the visibility of the vehicle when operating during daylight hours. Further, the nighttime visibility is significantly decreased as those les lights add to the roadway illumination capabilities.

The keyless start system problemlight willnot shift off.

Vehicle led headlights are too bright.oncoming traffic flashes high beams at me thinking my brights are on creating a hazard for myself and oncoming traffic.many times i am blinded by the blinding lights of their high beams beam lights being flashed and have gone off the road due to the blindness.i have contacted american honda but have not received help.the dealer has adjusted the headlights with little effect. The vehicle was purchased recently.it has led headlamps, and was a late model 2017 recently purchased as a new vehicle. I am afraid to drive the vehicle at night due to thefrequent events of oncoming vehicles flashing their high beam headlights in response to the perception that my high beams are on.as a result of this, i have to flash my high beamsin response to let the oncoming traffic know my high beams are not on.sometimes opposing traffic leaves their high beams on in retaliation to the perception my high beams are on creating a temporary condition of blindness on my part and has cause me to run off the road.i need your help in getting american honda to help resolve this. Different warning problems shows up on dashboard comes on and off sometimes. Took it to a honda dealership and they say its fuel injectors.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While driving 50 mph, the collision mitigation braking system engaged and caused the vehicle to brake without warning. The vehicle was taken to billy navarre honda (1310 e college st, lake charles, la 70605, (337) 429-2137) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to call nhtsa to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 28,000.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. When the vehicle was started in the morning, all the warning indicators illuminated and remained lit on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to underriner honda (406-255-2350, located at 3643 pierce pkwy, billings, mt 59106) where the fuel injectors were replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that it was not a major issue. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 43,476.

The emission light continually comes on in the truck they make it go off after a month or 2 back on again.

My car showed up warning message "emissions system problem" when in motion and it is really scary as the vehicle was having passengers (including kids) and in the highway driving. I couldn't focus on what to do but rather stop on the side of the road. Then i was able to do bit of google and got to know this is a common issue with the 2016-17 honda pilot and i can drive the car to home with the warning. Car is having 33k miles on it and still under the warranty. It has all the recommended maintenance work done according to the manufacturer recommendations. After i got the warning message at night, the very next day i drove it to the honda agent and they checked the car and they mentioned there is a software update needed to be done and needs injector replacement. They also mentioned they are getting pilots with this error more often now and i am not alone. The error code it shows is 'p0430'. A brand new vehicle with just 33k miles getting injector replacement is not what is mentioned in the owners manual. If this is getting again and again the cost of owning the car seems really expensive and worthless. Specially with the issues of emissions the car may stall anywhere and create a safety hazard for the passengers and others on the road. I would recommend honda comes in and fix this issue in all the 2016-17 pilot cars even outside the basic warranty as a recall without putting their customers in trouble. Thanks.

Pls. Do investigate honda pilot 2017 and some 2016 system emissions failure at 50k miles. It appears they have fuel injectors problem.

Around 30000 miles, the car started showing slgns of sluggishness.concerns that were voiced to the dealership during routine maintenance were met with comments that they didn't see an issues.then at about 45000 miles, the check engine light came on indicating an emissions problem (p0430: catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 2)).after investigation by the dealer, they said that the fuel injectors need to be replaced at a significant cost.after doing some research i have read that this is a common complaint from this cohort of vehicle owners.

Occasionally when stopped at a red light the car's auto engine cut off during idle will not restart as it should when i try to go.i must then put the car in park, wait 2-3 minutes, then it will finally restart.i took it to my dealership who told me they were aware of the problem and did not know how it could be fixed.stalling at a red light while cars are beeping is dangerous and can cause an accident or road rage.please help.

Getting an emmissions system warning on vehicle. Vehicle has under 50k miles. Issue caused vehicle to lose power at highway speeds and was unable to maintain highway speed. Vehicle is displaying two obd fault codes p2652 p0430.

Engine malfunction light comes on and indicates emission control problem..low and erratic power. Checked code and it was p0430 related to fuel injectors and fuel pump.

Today, 01/8/2019, the emissions system problem warning appeared on dash while driving car at approximately 45mph. Vehicle was in economy mode. Just had the vehicle in the shop for b01 service two days ago. Blogs state that it is a know fuel injector or fuel injector rail problem.

Twice the exhaust light and all panel lights has come up. The fist time the car was a few months old and the car was not even on, it happen when car was started. They fix the first time the second time they charge us even the car is not 50000 miles old.

Took my honda pilot elite 2017 in after having the check engine light on displaying "emissions service problem". It was diagnosed at our honda dealership as p0430 and need all fuel injectors replaces. My suv had only 39,000 miles on it and was outside the manufacturers warranty by 3,000 miles. The repair estimate was $2,100. I was shocked to hear this as the vehicle is only 2 years old. I saw online this was a common issue with both 2016 and 2017 pilots which is concerning as honda has not made any recalls. In the end, our dealership called honda and got honda to cover most of the repair with the dealership covering the remainder. I am nervous with the quality of honda vehicles and even that the new fuel injectors will only have a life of 40,000 miles and i will be in the same spot 2 years from now. Honda needs to take care of this fully and a recall is needed.

At 50k miles several warning lights came on (vsa, check engine, trac control, brakes).dealership scan indicated several misfire dtcs and p219a.informed that this was a known issue and required replacement of entire fuel rail system costing me over $1,700.

Auto idle stopped engine waiting in traffic and then it would not restart.i took my foot off the brake, pressed the gas and nothing would work. Eventually, i was able to get the vehicle in park, turn it "off" and then turn it back on.

While attempting to fill up the fuel tank, the contact noticed that ice was lodged in between the first and second fuel nozzles. The contact had to chip away the ice to fill up the tank. The dealer (boch honda, 279 providence hwy, norwood, ma 02062) was aware of the failure and stated that honda was working on something in the next few weeks regarding the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but could not assist. The failure mileage was 800. The vin was unavailable.

Emissions warning light came on while driving down the road about 30mph. Code reader shows code p0430.

Vehicle fuel pipe ruptured during start-up on two occasions, leading to fuel leaks in engine compartment and above fuel tank while driving away from parked position. Ruptures were attributed to rodents damaging plastic fuel pipe sections. Failure #1: 7,232 miles, plastic pipe elbow high up in engine compartment. Failure #2: 15,624 miles, plastic tube above fuel tank. Honda wrapped replacement parts with rodent pepper tape but does not offer a guaranteed solution to this vulnerability. The fuel pipe leading from the fuel tank to engine appears to be mostly aluminum with plastic connectors at the ends.the fuel tank under the middle of the car and fuel hose bracket in the engine compartment both provide perching places for mice.mice nibble on the nearby plastic fuel pipes and the pipes suddenly rupture when the fuel system is pressurizedfuel spills in the engine compartment and above the exhaust system onto the ground until the engine is stopped.damaged etfe plastic fuel tube manufactured by sanoh for honda is available for inspection upon request.

Engine hesitation at low speeds, more dramatic going uphill.

Emission system problem.. P0430 code.. 45k ..dealership had to replace fuel injector kit for $1940..not covered under factory warranty or powertrain..honda america says they won't reimburse even though this is a know issue with the 2016 model.. My vehicle falls outside the range of vin where the issue was noted but this is not by chance i have the same issue as numerous others are..honda needs to admit this is a fault with the fuel propulsion system and cover these replacements on low mileage vehicles.highly disappointed!!

My 'emissions system issue' light comes on all the time. The light comes on mostly while the car is in motioni first had this check light come in within months of owning the car.honda has fixed this every year since. I put about 30,000 miles/yr on the car and do not have the time to continually bring the car in for service.during the last service for this issue (my car was out of warranty) and i was told it would cost almost $2000 to fix. They agreed to cover 75% of the cost as this has been a problem every year.within days of leaving the dealership, the light came on again. The 2017 pilot is a lemon. This is some fuel injector issue.it could cause a serious accident as the ultimate result of this issue is engine misfire...i have had moments of misfire when entering an intersection and could have caused a serious accident. There appears to be no permanent fix for this issue.this honda just fixes it and it's not a big deal to the owner until you are out of warranty. This is incredibly frustrating. I love the car, but this is disappointing as i have the pilot elite which is one of the most expensive cars they offer. The local dealership has been good about it.however, i fear the next time i return to complain about this issue, they may not be as accommodating.

Engine light ones on...codes say it is an emission problems.it is the injectors.the dealer says they repair one a week!this should be a recapitulate,

I got a warning on my dashboard says "emissions system problem" my vehicle has only 58k miles on it. I checked the recall but is not there. I chat one of the agent "renee' told me to file complaint if i want. Is my vehicle still under warranty for this issue? thank you.

Different warning problems shows up on dashboard comes on and off sometimes. Took it to a honda dealership and they say its fuel injectors.

Check engine light came on at 43,000 miles.then every other light on dash came on while driving.error code for fuel injectors and honda dealer charging 2,000 to replace injectors.wife will not drive the pilot now due to injector issues.vehicle is only 3 years old!known issue with my model year pilot and honda is silent on recall.dealer can't even fix the issue due to not having the parts (back ordered)!

Emissions light went on and i smelled gas. Brought the car in for service at 23,391 miles. Fuel injectors needed to be replaced. This is a known problem with the pilot, according to the service manager, who stated "luckily it was still under warranty."

The capless fuel filler neck has a design flaw that allows water to get behind the outermost flap. In colder climates, this water can freeze between the flaps, preventing the fuel flap from opening, making it impossible to get a gas pump in to refuel the vehicle. The only solutions are to wait for it to get above freezing (if you have that luxury while waiting to refuel), manually applying a heat source (kind of dangerous with gas), or trying to manually chip away at the ice without breaking anything.

I have 2017 honda pilot touring. I have a reoccurring problem with the anti break mitigation system. It continually activates in multiple driving situations that do not require it to activate. This problem occurs when i'm driving at different speeds, with and without the cruise control is set, and on any type of road.i have taken it to the dealership 5 times to have this problem corrected. They have been able to duplicate the problem. They have tried to repair this problem 5 times without success. The anti break system continues to activate incorrectly on almost a daily basis. The dealership has stated that there isn't a problem and that i can turn off the anti break system and drive my vehicle without it. I paid for this feature and i do not think that i need to turn it off as it is a safety feature of my car. This is a serious safety issue and it needs to operate correctly.i also had to replace the fuel injection system.

While stopped at an intersection, the "auto-idle-stop" feature malfunctioned and: 1.) didn't properly "restart" the engine; 2.) caused the electrical systems in the car to turn off and essentially stalled the car; and 3.) made it difficult to restart the car using the ignition button as it wasn't clear what gear the car was in. Once the car was in park, it was able to be restarted using the ignition button. This occurance has happened several times. For safety (when we remember to), we now make a point to turn off the auto-idle-stop feature when using the car as the scenarios in which the issue appears could be at an intersection or situation with cross traffic.

2017 honda pilot, emissions light came on around 50,000.service light came on at highway speeds.codes were po301, po219a.honda service confirmed 2016 pilots and some 2017 pilots received an extended warranty, covering repair of the fuel injectors.this specific vin was out of range.mechanic had to replace the fuel injectors to remedy the issue.honda america advised me to do the repair and see if a warranty is extended.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. The contact stated that the odor of fuel could be detected inside the cabin of the vehicle.there were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (wilde honda, 1603 e moreland blvd, waukesha, wi 53186), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,500.

Check engine light indicates an emissions problem at 52000 miles. Dealership recommends fuel injector replacement although vehicle has been properly serviced at every milestone. Many other 2016-1019 pilot owners complaining about the same issue.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While driving 20-50 mph, the vehicle jerked without warning. The vehicle was taken to holman honda (12 e sunrise blvd, fort lauderdale, fl 33304, (954) 764-1100) where it was diagnosed that a transmission update was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 78,000. The vin was invalid.

After coming to a stop or slowing down to a very low speed, when i reaccelerate to build speed, the transmission stalls and then jerks into gear while in eco-mode.at times this is almost causing a collision.i reported this to the dealership almost a month after my purchase and 4 more times after the first report and each time they had no resolution except the last time to do a transmission flush which i had to pay for.in some of suggestions and questions, it appears that the dealership knows that there's an issue.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. The contact stated that the transmission warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to walser honda (14800 buck hill rd, burnsville, mn 55306) where the warning indicator was turned off and the transmission fluid was replaced. While traveling at a low rate of speed, upon depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle jerked forward without warning. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 31,000.

Tiene un bote de aceite y se me encendi la seal de problema en la transmisin mientras iba rodando por la autopista

Veh. Transmission lurches (slips, shifts rough, jumps forward) when shifting at around 28 mph. So far the veh. Only does this at the speed indicated. There is a you tube video june, 9th. 2018 that shows the exact problem i have with the veh.!

The car would not go into reverse and when it finally did and we pulled out we received a transmission problem warning

On 6/11/17 wile i was driving i felt my car 'jerk' when i would press on the gas and the car would shift gears. My dashboard alerted me that there was a problem and i would need to take this car in for service. [attachment 1] my vehicle only had 2040 (estimated) miles on it and i've only had it for 2 months, how could this be?while on the way home, that same day, i was stopped a red light waiting for it to turn green for me to go.once the light was green i pressed on the gas and i got to accelerate for about 10 feet at that point the car was inoperable. I tried switching gears to drive, reverse and neutral but it didn't work. At this point i had a different alert on my dashboard [attachment 2].i quickly put my hazards on and let the vehicle slowly pull over to the side of the road. At that point i pressed on the brake pedal put the car into park and put the emergency brake on. The vehicle wassent via tow to route 22 honda for service on 6/12/17. The vehicle was returned to me on 6/21/17.i was told that the transmission was replaced however when i asked what exactly was wrong with it the response was "we do not know but we are sending it to honda for further review".i am fearful of driving this vehicle however i am locked into this lease.honda does not know what went wrong and how to prevent it from happening again. I fear i may be on the highway and this may happen again. I truly fear for my life and any passengers i may have in my vehicle.

It did not.

The suv shakes, shudders, and rumble upon light acceleration at various speeds, sometimes at 35 mph other times at 66 mph.the experience is similar or exactly like driving over the emergency rumble strip on the side of the road, only you're not. The dealership has refused to admit this problem and fix the issue.the car is only 2 years old.

While driving on a busy road with my wife, my vehicle shuddered while accelerating, and began jerking and slowing down before losing all acceleration.multiple warning lights went off, and the tranmission automatically shifted to neutral.the transmission is a 9 speed, push button shift.we we were almost rear ended by the vehicle behind us while attempting to coast to the shoulder.while attempting to figure out what was going on, i was unable to shift the vehicle into any gear.it would not shift into park, reverse, or drive.i contacted the honda dealership and reported the issue and had to have the vehicle towed.while waiting for 2 hours on the sode of the road for towing, i was unable to get the transmission to shift into any gear.it was only after the tow truck driver arrived, and i shut the vehicle off that the car finally shifted into a gear.the vehicle is currently at the honda dealership and being diagnosed.there were 4 error messages that i received when all of this occurred.i have photos, and a video of it as well. This is not my first issue with the transmission.it has been to the shop twice before for shuddering when shifting at low speeds, and not shifting properly.the vehicle currenly has around 18,500 miles on it.fortunately this tranmission issue happened on a side access road, and not on the turnpike, or the end result may have been an accident involved.the dealership cannot explain why the transmission shifted to nuetral and completely lovked out the ability to shift or move it under its own power.i do not feel safe driving the vehicle, and feel that it is a hazard to other drivers.i have video of the transmission not shifting but was unable to load that as an attachment.

While stopped, then starting again (eg at a stop sign), vehicle sometimes will not shift into motion, acts "sluggish". The first time i thought perhaps a shoe stuck, or a floor mat was in the way, but that was not the case. Dealership said just turn off eco mode. The vehicle still occasionally does this and is now very jerky to drive at all times. The vehicle has also prevented acceleration while changing lanes or overtaking on multiple occasions, happening to both drivers of the vehicle. This has primarily been interstate driving, therefore high speeds, but happened again today on a city street, very nearly causing an accident with my child in the vehicle! this is not acceptable for a vehicle, particularly a newer one,and yet it appears to be a commonly-reported problem that is not being addressed! are we waiting for someone to be killed? this vehicle also has occasional trouble with the audio system, but that's an inconvenience while the transmission is potentially life threatening!

Took my vehicle to lithia honda of salem oregon with under bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty with transmission jerking(service manager: brent called me advised that software he will take care off but flushing trans. Fluid as per mnfg> known tsb is not and we need to pay.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle independently shifted into neutral, without warning. The vehicle was restarted and worked as designed. The vehicle was taken to d-patrick honda (4300 e division st, evansville, in 47715, (812) 477-6201) but, was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I currently own a 2017 honda pilot with auto stop/start feature, my wife has been driving and on multiple occasions she stopped and the vehicle would stall causing a safety concern.she then stops traffic and as they have to go around her. She has to wait a few minutes for the vehicle to restart.of course being a hazard on the road my wife is in danger of getting hit. We contacted the dealer and they stated that if there is no errors they cant fix the problem. Multiple forums i am seeing the same concern.

Car goes into neutral or no gear at all when still in drive on its own. Has done this multiple times, will end up getting us killed at some point because when you go to get on the accelerator to get out of someoneā€™s way the engine just revs up.

While driving on the highway, my 2017 pilot elite spontaneously accelerated and rpms revved.i tapped the brakes and it returned to the normal speed.traffic was sparse, but if it had been busier this could have easily caused a collision.

Transmission over heated after side gasket failed at 1224 miles since new.single owner, new vehicle.dealer tightened gasket, put fluid in it.and returned vehicle to owner.

Auto dashboard warning lights started and remained flashing. Transmission would not up shift - slipped into neutral - surged and jerked when up shiftingthis experience was repeated after pulling off the highway and attempting to reenter traffic.this was a dangerous experience as it occurred on a high speed interstate.i took the auto to the dealer but they were not able to reproduce the problem and their diagnostics check could not find a problem.

Car lurches forward on downshift and revs high. Prior to powertrain train warranty ending, called honda clarksville (since i am a large distance away from any honda dealer) and was told the lurching was a honda transmission item and nothing can be done. Fast forward 5k miles (now just outside warranty)car would not go into gear. Emission and transmission warning lights on dash.towed vehicle to force honda where dealer noted transmission needed to be replaced at 63,000 miles.transmission is not supposed to be serviced until 100k miles, but honda questioned my oil changes and having the trans fluid replaced...this appears to be a systemic issue with the 9 speed auto trans.can nothing be done about this?

2017 honda pilot awd - periodically the transmission experiences hard shifting in the lower gears.this occurred when speeding up or slowing down.it continued until i turned off the vehicle and restarted the car.it has happened 3 times in the 3 months.i have not taken the vehicle in to be looked at because it is so un predictable.

Keyless start system malfunction.

The vehicle has started jerking while accelerating.

The transmission unexpectedly shift into neutral while driving. This happened in middle of the road at 6:30 pm. My son was in the vehicle and it was dangerous to stop in the middle of the road. Accident can occur.nine-speed automatic for random drops into neutral.

The transmission in my 2017 honda pilot, a 9 speed, is not switching gears smoothly.at first, i took the car back to the dealership and they explained that the vehicle needed a transmission computer update.it was fine for approximately 3 days and is back to banging gears.the vehicle was consistent in both cold and warm weather.this was aggravated in traffic conditions.

While acceleratingbetween 44-48 mph, the car judders/shakes.

Vehicle shifted to neutral while driving.carr is at dealer.they are researching problem.

Twice while car was braked at stop light the car slipped into neutral and turned off after i took my foot off the break.when i tried to compensate for car going into neutral car turns off.this almost caused an accident as i was a green turn arrow and could not turn and car behind me almost hit me.i had 2 children in the car with me.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While driving between 10 and 25 mph, the transmission experienced hard shifting between first and second gear, which caused the vehicle to suddenly lunge forward. The vehicle was taken to conyers honda (1860 ga-20, conyers, ga), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000. The vin was invalid.

Honda knows that there is a problem with the transmission that causes the fluid to overheat. The overheating issue leads to a 'judder' in the transmission. The car accelerates in a very jerky way especially between 30 and 50. This is a big safety issue if you are trying to pass someone. As soon as the vehicle reaches 80,000 miles honda will no longer cover the so-called 'repair' which is to flush the burnt transmission oil multiple times. This costs almost $400. Honda knows they have a defective transmission and, instead of fixing it, they are passing the transmission flush cost on to the buyers. A recall should be issued before someone gets killed trying to pass in a vehicle with a faulty transmission. Already happened twice on my pilot. First time was repaired for free, second time i had to pay since my car has 86000 miles and they only cover under 80000.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel shook without warning. Additionally, the vehicle shifted hard and jerked from first to second gear. The vehicle was taken to dch paramus honda (120 nj-4, paramus, nj 07652, (201) 426-4676) where it was diagnosed that the rotor and brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failures recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 30,000.

When driving on lower gears, the car or transmission will perform significant jerks like it is hard for it to switch gears. Typically when driving around 40 mph.

The front drivers side seat belt is way to short for a normal human being. I'm average height and weight but when i attempt to put the seat belt around me it barely fits. Once i manage to get it locked there's no slack.in case of accident the seat belt will cause injuries. This vehicle needs to be recalled immediately

Second row, driver's side seat belt failed to retract making it impossible for passenger to remove the belt and exit the car. Seat belt had to be manually cut with scissors so that passenger could remove the belt and exit car.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. The contact stated that the driver's seat belt was too short. The contact stated that the seat belt made it difficult for the contact to move the seat to optimal position and becomes too tight when he moved the seat forward. Lindsay honda (5959 scarborough blvd, columbus, oh 43232, (614) 864-5250) advised the contact to purchase an extender since there was no remedy for the failure.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were unknown.

The drivers seatbelt is very small and limiting. As a person of larger size (not obese) i am barely able to fasten the seatbelt comfortably unless i scoot the seat all the way back, at that point i cannot reach the pedals. I am unable to lean forward to look for it oncoming traffic safely. The dealership reports that this is normal for the drivers side to be smaller and i should get a seat belt extender (after market). The passenger side fits perfectly. Unacceptable.

The driver seat seatbelt is too short to comfortably buckle while wearing winter clothing, or for individuals with a larger stomach.in addition it is not possible to lean forward while stopped to look around obstacles when pulling out of a location with limited visibility. This leaves no choice but to use an aftermarket extender or just not buckle up.it is significantly shorter than the passenger side or any other vehicle i've been in.this is a confirmed issue with many other owners per online forums.

Driver side seat belt doesn't extend enough. I had to buy a seatbelt extender.

I just bought a new pilot after owing a 2011 for 6 years. I never had any issues with my 2011 pilot seat belts. On the 2017 pilot, the driver's side seat belt appears to be several inches shorter than the passenger's side. It makes it difficult for me to be able to move the seat to an optimal position because it traps me in too tightly if i move the seat forward or raise it higher. I am a shorter person and i'm not able to position myself comfortably due to the shorter seat belt. Instead i am forced to sit lower and all the way back. How is this safe?i took it to the dealer and they explained that the driver's side seat belt is attached to the floor, where the passenger's is attached to the seat, which makes that seat belt have lots of extra room. The dealer said i need to purchase an extender since there is no fix to this problem, as "it is a design flaw". I don't feel this is a safe option. I should be able to use the seat belt without needing an extender. The safety rating of the car is based on using the standard seat belt, not an extender. Please have this issue recalled so they can either install a longer seat belt or they need to move the seat belt mounting on the driver's side. (a longer seat belt would be an easier and less costly option, in my opinion.) thank you.

Driver side seatbelt is markedly shorter than passenger side as well as other currentyear honda models. My wife is shorter than i and when she positions the seat, she has barely any travel in the belt. This could be very dangerous and apparently has been previously reported and is documented in various forums on the internet.

The drivers side seat belt is to confining and tight that it hinders the movement of the driver slowing reaction time. It is unsafe.the driver's side seat belt does not extend out far enough for a short heavy person to pull the seat belt around and buckle it so it is comfortable. The passenger side seat belt has no issue. A visual inspection comparing the 2 seat belts shows the driver side seat belt does not come out of the floor as far as the passenger side. This issue results in the seat belt being to tight and restricting the drivers mobility while driving. The honda dealer service department and honda customer service confirm this is by design and nothing can be done. This is an accident waiting to happen. Honda needs to offer a passenger side seat belt configuration and specs for the drivers side.

Driver seat belt is very short, comparing to other makes and models can not reach the dash when trying to clear window or dash if something is on there seatbelt locks up about quarter way to dash. Major safety issue , have to buy extender for overisezed person...

The drivers seatbelt is very short and doesn't allow any movement at all times.

Known issue- driver side seat belt too short to allow adequate vision when merging, etc.many consumers resorting to seat belt extensions online.this is a safety issue- driver belt easily 10 inches smaller than passenger belt.

On two occasions i was driving at a speed between 30-45 mph on a state highway when for no apparent reason the auto braking system slammed on the brakes nearly causing the car behind me to hit me. The second time the road was slick and i nearly lost control.

Steering wheel jerking left orright.jerking occurs erratically and unpredictably;steering wheel jerks at highway speeds which could easily cause the loss of control of the vehicle on the highway and is very dangerous and stressful since it is not clear when the wheel jerking will occur while driving. It does tend to occur while on curved roads, appearing to try to jerk the wheel straight when the car steering needs to be adjusted to stay in one's lane;red and amber malfunction lights come on and off frequently. In particular, the tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) light comes on and off regularly even without the jerking steering wheel. The tpms warning light also often flashes at the same time as the jerking steering at highway speeds such as around 50 mph.red display of brake light warningand amber display of brake system warning often occur, sometimes paired with the jerking steering wheel. The jerking occurs typically on the highway at speeds such as 50 or 55 miles per hour.

This might be an unknown issue, but upon startup, the brake pedal is very stiff and hard.few times, i couldn't start the car because the brake was so stiff, i couldn't press on it with my foot, and it went into accessory mode.i took it to 3 different dealers, they keep telling me that it's normal.advantage honda tried replacing the battery, but that didn't help.all they could do is a multipoint diagnostic on it, where the computer won't show anything.dealers are telling me it's normal, but why is my neighbor's 2017 honda pilot not giving him the same problem?it can't be normal because when i first purchased the car in aug. 2017, and up until mid oct. 2017, the brake pedal was fine. Then after that, it only happen overnight, then now it's happening every time i start the car, it gets very frustrating when you have to slam the btrake pedal in order to start the car.i've driven other vehicles with push button starts for many years in the past, and i've never encountered an issue like this.could this be an issue with the hydraulic brake system loosing vacuum supply where dealers don't want to bother taking a closer look at the issue because they don't make that much money if it's still under warranty?i've called honda of america, they told me to bring it to a dealer, but dealers are not helping or even explain why is the brake pedal doing that other than say it's normal.as soon as i start the car, the car runs fine.please help me understand why my car is like this.thank you for your help.

At traffic light, car wont stop during braking, there was an abnormal vibration. Speed was +/-20 mph. I had to turn right to avoid accident and after 300ft car stop, brakes work to normal again. Incident happened in quiet fm road, about 1 miles from home. Mileage 22k.

1. I had a routine oil change afew weeks ago and i was told by honda dealer in san luis obispo,ca that my brakes were in good shape. But i noticed that when i am driving in the highway at around 70 mph then apply brakes, the car shakes. I brought it back to honda and they think it is the rotor and fixed it yesterday.the other new problemis the alarm that kept going off randomly when the car is parked and locked.when i picked up my car after the oil change a few weeks ago, the technician did not mention any problems with my alarm going off while my carwas at the delearship. I went back to the honda dealer for diagnostic test yesterday and they recommend replacing the keyless access control unit. This will costclose to $ 1000 diagnostic, parts and labor. I am told if i do not replace the control unit, the problem can get worse where my car won't start anymore. So i have no choice but replace it.so i brought my car just for routine oil change weeks ago and now i have problem with rotor andcontrol unit that cost me $ 502.72 yesterday and another $700 plus dollars to replace the control unit.for the control unit to fail in just 3 years, suggests it may be defective to begin with or very poor quality.unfortunately it just went out of warranty.i am reporting this in case this is a common problem for honda pilot that the manufacturer needs to address and fix.

Purchased our 2017 pilot straight from dealer in feb 2017; by summer, brakes would squeak when pressure applied - got much worse over time. Sent multiple videos over next 12 months, had car in for repair at least once a month - service dept could never resolve issue, despite replacing brake pads and entire brake system. Per dealership, american honda motors refuses to acknowledge problem despite dealership doing so.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While driving at unknown speeds, the brake pedal was applied, but failed to respond. As a result, the vehicle crashed into two vehicles. In addition, there was an abnormal vibration in the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for auto body repairs. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the brake failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

This vehicle appears to have faulty brakes - either by design or by manufacturing.while i cannot comment on the chances of brake failure but the performance of the brakes is unsatisfactory and unpredictable. I'm fairly confident i'm not the only one affected.i would personally investigate the brakes on the current generation honda pilots as they appear to be a potential safety issue. But, the decision to undertake this exerciseof investigating honda is up to you.

The power steering warning light (steering wheel and exclamation point) comes on intermittently.slight wobble in steering wheel when it happens. Took it to dealer but they can not duplicate nor find any error codes. Concerned for safety if there is a problem with steering.

Hood flutters at highway speeds and appears that it will open and break windshield, looks as though hood is not latched causing stoppage or pull over for inspection of which the hood is latched

The design flaw causes the hood to move excessive during windy days. It's much more noticeable during highway speeds. The hood flexes and moves up and down as you drive in windy days.during my life time i have driven my different vehicles including vans and even rv but never seen a hood that moves this much. It's very dangerous over time as metals or bolts could simply give. This hood could one day fly off and hurt or kill someone.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While the vehicle was stationary, the contact noticed mold in the rear seats and in the folds of the doors. Honda of kirkland dealer located at 12420 ne 85th st, kirkland, wa 98033 diagnosed that water entered into the vehicle through a sealant gap of the firewall behind the dashboard. The vehicle was replaced with a new one by the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,500. The vin was not available.

Rear windshield spontaneously imploded upon closing rear door of vehicle.stationary.no extreme temperatures (santa cruz ca) , no extreme conditions.just imploded. I read countless similar stories online.check edmunds.com.hi

At highway speeds, when passing any oncoming large vehicle, the hood flexes, shudders & moves violently up & down as if it is only held by the secondary latch. When parked, there is no perceptible play or looseness at the latch or hinge area. The dealerships have been no help in resolving this problem.

When driving at highway speeds & a truck or large vehicle passes me in the oncoming lane, my hood vibrates & lifts as if it is being blown open. It's nerve racking & distracting since the car is otherwise quiet & tight. I'm afraid that one of these times the hood will actually fly open. When parked, the hood seems to be tightly closed with little or no play. It only occurs when an on coming vehicle like a semi or bus passes me from front to back. The nearest honda dealer to our current home is more than 50 miles away. I have owned many other honda's but this 2017 pilot is a new body design. This problem occurs every time we drive on highways or a fast moving large vehicle goes by. It has done it since we took delivery of it brand new.

I have bought 2017 honda pilot on 11/28/2016 in sc state. Problem i have faced that controller arm corrosion quickly. I am concern about vehicle safety. I can also see rust outside allow wheels. I have taken my car at dealer but they didn't identified this issue. I would like to check asap and resolve it.thank you[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).?

Few minutes after mywife got home the car alarm began beeping and there was a fire coming from the engine of the car. We called 911 and the fire kept getting bigger. Once the fire departmentarrived and put out the fire we saw a huge damage on the car. We don't know how the fire could have started while theengine was off . We are concerned about the safety of this company's car.

Keyless start system problem - seems to be a common occurs on honda pilot. Got the error around 60k miles. 90% of the time it comes on. My car no longer locks on its own when i walk away.

Keyless start system error started to appear as soon as the 3 years warranty was over! the error would go on but the car does turn on. Lately, it would take several presses on the button and it appears to work better if the fob is close to the button. The walk away lock has not worked since thekeyless start system error began.this happens when start the car.

I got a warning on my dashboard says "emissions system problem" my vehicle has only 58k miles on it. I checked the recall but is not there. I chat one of the agent "renee' told me to file complaint if i want. Is my vehicle still under warranty for this issue? thank you.

When the car is stopped by applying the brake pedal, the auto-stop feature idles the engine as expected and normal for the feature. However, on occasion when the brake pedal is released, the engine stalls instead of restarting as expected. The engine stall is difficult to recover from since the car must first be put in park then restarted, which is not intuitive, especially when under stress in traffic or departing from a traffic light. The problem has been intermittent for about a year. Our local honda dealer attempted to fix the problem but the only thing they could speculate was that under the auto-stop feature with the engine idled, battery voltage drops and the car's computer restarts the engine before the voltage gets too low. However, if the system doesn't restart the car with adequate battery cranking amps remaining, the engine may stall vice restart as required. This occurs either when the voltage gets low enough or when the brake pedal is released. Based upon thier best assessment and inability to find any specific fault, we replaced the battery per their suggestion. However the problem recurred about two months later. On the internet, we found numerous cases of this type of fault. In several instances, it caused a challenging situation in traffic or at a traffic light, which has been our experience as well. The only work-around that others have reported reasonable success with was to push the auto-stop disable button upon starting the car. This of course is a work-around and honda should issue a more permanent solution to the problem.

Auto engine idle stop malfunctioning, leaving vehicle stalled and stranded in the middle of traffic. Has happened two times in last month (sept 2019) now with last being on a busy highway with young son in car. Required a tow ($174 towing bill) and then jump (vehicle had to be removed from busy traffic asap) and very fortunate we were not hit as vehicle was stalled in the middle of 60 mph traffic for nearly 2 hours.the issue happens after the engine idle auto off kicks off the engine but then will not restart when foot is taken off the brake. This does not appear to be a battery issue as battery has been fine since and has not been replaced.engine idle auto stop feature cannot be turned off permanently and one must remember to turn it off every time you drive the vehicle to mitigate this problem. This is a huge safety issue! car is approx 2.5 years old and has approx 34k miles. Issue has only surfaced recently however. Towing bill attached.

Auto idle stopped engine waiting in traffic and then it would not restart.i took my foot off the brake, pressed the gas and nothing would work. Eventually, i was able to get the vehicle in park, turn it "off" and then turn it back on.

While driving down an empty highway i experienced a large explosive sound upon opening my sunroof cover i noticed my sunroof had exploded. I immediately went to ahonda dealership where i was told there is no such known issue with sunroofs with my model car and that it will not be covered

I was driving on i-40 in nashville, tn, moving slowly due to traffic congestion when what sounded like an explosion occurred. I could not immediately figure out the cause but my passenger noticed wind noise and pushed the sunroof visor back. Glass fell in the car. We stopped at the next exit and found that the sunroof had a huge hole and the glass had fallen onto the visor. Nobody was injured because the visor kept the glass out of the cabin. We were shaken but i was able to maintain control and get out of the way of traffic.

Idle stop system sensor fail..when can stops the engine shuts off but i did not came back on!! a lot of lights came on with instructions while i was at a busy light.. Went to the dealer and it was close to $1,000 for the repair.. They said its a known issue.. Please do a recall.

Going uphill suv hesitates between 1000 and 2000 rpm's. Feels without power. Only way to avoid it is to press the pedal all the way down to make it respond. It's been doing it for three months. Most recent time that it was felt, was today.

My car was bucking and shut off on me while on the highway not even a full month after the vehicles transmission was serviced and back in the 9 times again within a year.i was told that i was sold a vehicle brand new i do not believe the transmission and or vehicle for that matter should be giving me safety issues at only 16,000 miles and then again at 33,351 miles; withoutrecourse. The dealer suggested to buy my car back ' put it back on the lot and put me into a different loan that would increase my payments. I am looking for some assistance here so that i may be in a vehicle that is safe, dependable, and reliable. I am firm in my belief after driving this vehicle and experiencing the faultiness of the vehicle that the transmission is defective. *update 3rd gear pressure switch replaced twice.

While driving with the family on the freeways in arizona, california and nevada at speeds between 65-70 mph, the pilot hood vibrates and flexes intensely. The flexing movement is very unstable when strong winds or a semi is passing.we are worried this stress and fatigue on the locking mechanism will become compromised and let go of the hood.

Driving to work in the morning after owning the car for a few years and and dash displays "keyless start system problem".

Water leaks under front passenger/driver foot area under the dashboard when going through a carwash. Dealership stated it could be because sunroof was not completely flush with the body and water enter through sunroof in excessive amounts.

On at least two occasions, i accidentally pushed the engine start button while my car was in motion.on one of these occasions i was trying to hit my emergency flashers but instead, pushed the engine start/stop button.in doing so the car cut off while i was in active traffic.in oncoming traffic, it took me several seconds to get the car restarted.that was absolutely scary.another incident with my new pilot is the engine idle feature.this is the feature that while holding down the brakes, allows the car to turn off/remain idle to save gas.my incident with this feature was when i slowed down to turn the corner, the idle engine feature kicked in(i guess because i had slowed down too much), and the car went into the engine idle mode. This again was scary as i was making a right turn from a very busy, over 50 miles per hour highway.

Excessive hydroplane with stock tires

When stopnidle engages (at a stop light for example) when you let off the brake and it would normally start back up it completely shuts down. Tells you to shift into park. It is extremely scary to be sitting there at a light and your car is totally dead. I was on a 2 lane road, stopped at a stop light and let off the break to re-engage and go but nothing. Had to shift to park, keep foot on brake and re-start. Praying i don't get rear ended. Car has 41k on it and at 35k dealership replaced the battery cause it would cut out when it re started but never had shift completely down like today. It was just a at the dealership for oil change 5 days ago. 2017 pilot elite. I bought brand new just under 3 yrs ago.

My car jerks often when accelerating, especially around 12mph. I have took my car to the dealers many times. The most recent one is four days ago. The dealer said the car is operating as designed, and the jerks is due to the 9-speed transmission. I can't agree with it. It is not safe when the car suddenly hop forward.

Brand new honda pilot 2017, less than 4 weeks old, ex-l, navigation. 2nd row seat, passenger side, window shattered, normal driving condition in highway. No rock or metal that cracked in. Honda dealer (or) honda corporation is mentioning that they will not cover this under limited warranty. Was pretty scary to be inside the vehicle when this burst. Vehicle was on highway, around 55 miles / hour. Not operating the windows.

When i completely stop at a light (stationary), and have the auto engine idle stop "enabled", my engine shuts off and the warnings on dashboard "collision mitigation" flashes.music and a/cis turned off as well.i need to put the car back in "park" and restart the engine.i'm afraid someone will rear end me.i also had issues with my battery loosing charging even though its still good.i believe the auto engine idle stop feature is pulling significant amounts of battery charge.waiting to hear if there is a recall on this problem since i was told that honda is aware and trying to come up with a solution. This has occurred several times already.

Keyless start system problem error message on dash. We are the original owner since december 2016, this isn't covered beyond 3 year warranty. It's intermittent, sometimes it goes away and message comes back within 24 hours. I do not recall the exact date when it first occurs, it is an estimated date.

Travelling on a i-80 w about 60 mphfrom nj to pa , for no apparent reason the sunroof shattered. Cracked opening was about 1x3 ft in oval shape. No overpass or other vehicles on the front and also no elevated rocky area along the highway where this happened. We initially thought it was some rock -but no chance whatsoever for that. Honda dealer said they can look at it , but most likely insurance will have to cover it.

When neutral button is pressed once and ignition turn off and car exited by driver car remains in neutral. Auto park function does not put car into park. The service technician at hill country honda confirmed ''tis and states it is normal. This not what is described in the owners manual nor in online videos. This misinformation resulted in the honda pilot rolling out of the garage andcolliding iwith another car after the driver had turned off ignition and exited the honda pilot. The pilot honda pilot should remain in neutral after exiting car only when car wash mode is activated according to the manual.

Vehicle hesitation between 1st and 2nd at 1000 to 2000 rpm's. Loosing power...

I purchased my 2017 honda pilot brand new earlier this spring. Never had to use the heat until fall came around and i noticed the front dash heats do not work while the vehicle is in idle. I have taken it in to the dealership for an inspection and it was determined there is an issue that needs to be corrected with a software update from american honda. I've been playing phone tag with honda since and finally got to speak with james (1-800-999-1009 ext 117753), today from american honda. He did not assure me that the issue was being looked into or that they were working on something to correct it. Instead, told me repeatedly that there are no issues with my vehicle and it was designed that way. He states he's spoken with my local dealership who has confirmed that my heaters do not work properly, but again continued to tell me there were no issues with my car. Obviously there was a fault in the design, and he refused to admit that or offer a adequate resolution. When i asked to be escalated he offered to connect me with with another representative to review my case. I assured him i did not wish to speak with another representative and requested a manger at which point he told me he was a manager. A manger offering to connect me to a representative? where's the logic in that or any of this? honda does not deserve anyone's business if they aren't willing to make an effort to find a resolution.

While driving on the highway, my 2017 pilot elite spontaneously accelerated and rpms revved.i tapped the brakes and it returned to the normal speed.traffic was sparse, but if it had been busier this could have easily caused a collision.

The adaptive cruise control system is defective and dangerous.slams on the brakes when approaching vehicles inside considered safety zones.slows vehicle from 75-80mph on the freeway to less than 60mph.vehicles behind forced to brake to avoid collision.changing lanes the vehicle failed to resume highway speeds in a acceptable manner potentially causing vehicles in that lane to brake to avoid collision.in traffic the system is so jerky it can't be used. The system also fails to recognize an open lane and resume speed.the system also responds to vehicles to the driver's side lane and slows down and won't resume speed. In left or right turns on the freeway at freeway speeds the system reacts to vehicles across lanes and slows the vehicle to less than a safe operating speed causing a potential danger to not only the car we are in but to cars following behind .the collision avoidance system also malfunctions by the "brake" warning light comping on for seemingly no reason.

The adaptive cruise control system is dangerous.the vehicle slams on the brakes when approaching vehicles ahead and the vehicle behind me then has to slam on their brakes.this has happened multiple times.so far i have avoided an accident, but there have been times that it was a very close call.the vehicle behind me had to swerve to another lane to avoid hitting me.the system is very jerky, speeding up and slowing down when following a vehicle ahead.it will speed up by 2-3 mph and then slow down and speed up again.i have made sure that the windshield is clear to allow for the camera to see the vehicle in front of me.i had a previous ford motor vehicle and their adaptive cruise control worked wonderfully.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While attempting to park, the vehicle accelerated spontaneously, drove over a curb, and crashed into a building. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a collision facility. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 10,600.

The contact owned a 2017 honda pilot. While pulling into a parking space at a very slow speed, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration and crashed into a utility pole. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The driver and front seat passenger sustained torso bruises from the seat belts, which did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who indicated that, after starting the vehicle, the engine continued to rev extremely high. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and sent a representative to evaluate the vehicle; however, no failure was found. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 20,000.

If i set cruise control and go down a hill or incline it does not maintain the cruise control and continuously gains speed up to 10-15 miles over what it is set at. Could go higher, but i notice it and hit the brake which shuts it off. I brought this to the attention of the dealer where i purchased the car and they say this is normal and there is nothing wrong with it. I disagree and see this as a safety issue.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While driving in a parking garage, the vehicle accelerated rapidly on its own without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped and resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to twin city motors (10545 memorial blvd, port arthur, tx 77640), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and filed case number: 08652108. The failure mileage was 13,150. The vin was not available.

Front sunroof shattered spontaneously while vehicle was in motion at 45 mph on a highway. External temperature was 50 degrees.

While driving at highway speed the driver's-side wiper stopped working. Had to stop on hard shoulder. Issue was not obvious. The rain was not going to end any time soon so my partner ended up driving their vehicle in front of me with the hazards flashing at low speed so i could follow them closely until we could get to an exit and leave the pilot at a park-and-ride. This was very dangerous: sudden loss of visibility and then being stranded on the hard shoulder with trucks passing closely.took the pilot to the dealer the next day. They removed a rubber cover from the wiper mount and tightened the bolt that is underneath. The service adviser said they can come loose in the winter due to the wipers getting stuck in ice.i am amazed that this relies solely on friction to function given how dangerous it is when they fail.

My tailgate window exploded while parked probably due to pressure. You can clearly see itexploded from the inside out. I contacted my local dealer, honda of concord as well as honda of america and they refused to acknowledge the issue.

New pilot elite just over 2 months old and with roughly 3800 miles on it had the sunroof (not panoramic moonroof) blow out on a rural highway with no cars or objects in sight. Nothing hit the car or flew into view prior to explosion. This occurred 100 miles from home and on a sunday so the car had to be limped home to be taken to the dealer the following day. The dealer claimed they took pictures and communicated with american honda of the circumstances. They told me it was determined that the sunroof blew out because it had been weakened by rock chips over time even though we had never seen a single blemish in the sunroof and we look through it regularly because we have small children and look at the airplanes through there. When i picked up the car after i had to pay out of pocket for the repair, the service manager showed me the alleged rock chips in the paint on the roof.. There were way too many there for a 2 month old car. When i got home and showed my wife the 'rock chips', i realizes that there wasn't a single rock chip forward of the sunroof and it dawned on me that those weren't rock chips but gouges in the paint from shatter glass all of which were behind the sunroof.

We were driving on i90 highway from chicago to michigan. Suddenly we heard loud sound on the roof of the car and than shattering sound from the glass. We opened a cover a little to see what happened and the glass of the sunroofwas broken and shattered. There was very lighy traffic on the highway and there was no vehicles in front of us. We stopped to inspect the roof and there was no sign of impact or objects inside. It just broke by itself. Temperature outside is around 65, no rain, few clouds. We were driving at speed around 70. Temperature inside of the car is set on 73. Nothing unusual or different than any other day.

My sunroon exploded on the freeway (interstate 575 going 65 mph + )- i have had the car for 6 months (brand new).no accident occurred due to it - but was driving on the freeway and it exploded.1/3 of the glass went into the car and 2/3's of the glass fell behind and scratched the top of my car.talked to the dealership and they said it must have had an crack already in it and noticed scratches on the roof.if this ever gets recalled - i would like to be reimbursed.the cost for repair is over $600

Since purchasing my 2017 honda pilot in september 2017, i have had to replace two windshields due to rocks kicked up by other vehicles.on a third occasion, another rock created a minor crack and chip in the windshield.the first incident that required replacing the windshield occurred on september 8, 2017, while driving southbound on u.s. 75 in richardson, tx, near the george bush freeway.the second incident requiring windshield replacement occurred on november 21, 2017, while driving southbound on u.s. Highway 297 near vernon, tx.the latest incident that resulted in minor damage occurred on december 22, 2017, while driving northbound on u.s. Highway 75 in richardson, tx, near galatyn parkway.this 2017 honda pilot is the second honda pilot i have owned/leased, and the prior vehicle incurred no glass damage driving the same route over a three-year period.the other honda vehicles, accords, were driven on the same general route since 2008, with no windshield damage.i am concerned that honda may have reduced the thickness or quality of the windshield glass or other materials used in the windshield, or made a design change affecting the windshield.windshield damage can be a serious safety hazard reducing visibility while driving.

The contact owns a 2017 honda pilot. While his spouse was driving 65-70 mph there was an abnormal rattling noise detected. The contact stated the sunroof shattered without warning or impact. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
