While driving at a slow/normal speed on a residential road, i went over a gentle speed bump and on the way down, the bottom of the car struck what i believe is part of the roadway. It was a minor bump - but some of the front airbags to deployed. The passenger airbag deployed along with both knee airbags. This was totally unexpected since we were driving at normal residential speeds and slowed for the speed bump. At this speed, whatever it struck on the bottom of the car should not have caused airbag deployment.
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. The contact stated that while driving, the back up camera would not display causing a visibility hazard to the driver while driving in reverse. The cause of the failure was not determined. An unknown dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was included in the nhtsa campaign number: 20v438000 (back over prevention). Parts distribution disconnect. The failure mileage was 30,000.
2019 odyssey reverse camera has failed multiple times.sometimes will work on next vehicle start, sometimes it takes a few days.reported to honda dealer prior to recall in june 2020.have been waiting over 11 months for recall replacement part and i am told over and over that replacement part is not available and no eta is available. Also have trouble with cross traffic sensors, dealer unable to tell me if this related.
My new 2019 honda odyssey has a very distinctive electrical static/crackling/hissing noise coming from dashboard when driving or idling that doesn't sound normal but very concerning.will take to dealer but don't expect much since i've read and researched this issue on the internet and others have the same issue without any actions from dealerships.does nhtsa have any advice or knowledge of this issue?
- media/audio multipurpose screen freezes causing total loss of backup camera (while moving and stationary)- occasional delay of backup camera activation (while moving and stationary)- cabin and speed control and functions malfunction and fail (while moving and stationary)- sliding doors fail to open completely (while stationary)- steering wheel controls fail (while moving and stationary)
Dvd player will not play movies.dvd player gets extremely hot.audio throughout entire vehicle experiences a constant snapping/crackle noise.this happens while vehicle is moving or stationary.does not happen all the time.probably due to a pinched wire in a harness near infotainment system.reported to dealership.they refused to repair under warranty because vehicle had been driven over 35,000 miles.spent $40,000 for a new van and within first year we need to spend our money to repair their mistake.shameful.
Hello i have 2019 honda odyssey elite. There is an issue with the infotainment system, that freezes up, music not playing, screen being unresponsive, cabin watch feature freezes, skips picture or doesn'tdisplay it at all or with message that picture cannot be displayed. Rain sensing wipers do not work as intended. When is barely raining they go fast, when is raining a lot wipers are working slow. Dealership is unable to fix issues or they cannot replicate them. I try to take videos/photos of every time something is happening but the dealership doesn't take that as a proof that something is wrong. They drive car for two miles vs mine 27k miles in 10 months, and always say there is nothing wrong with vehicle. I called honda multiple times to have issues resolved, always same story from both honda customer service or dealership, please wait for an update. I am waiting over 6 months and nothing. I have more videos/pictures available. We have two same vehicles in our household, my wife's car have same issues.
Hi there- i am currently live in nc. I have issue with my honda oddysey. I seen that you had filed case with american honda with issues i am having currently. I have case with american honda and everything reported with them ( all issues i am having) additional issue with my 2019 odyssey started shutting down digital odometer while driving on high way.its totally unsafe and i have 3 little kids putting all this stress on all of them. Can you please respond to me maybe little heads up what can i do at this point?local honda dealer tried fixing 6 times- with no solution, told me to go to american honda- american honda came back saidwe wont do nothing about it for you. Can you please help me and my family?
The navigation screen stays black.no backup camera, can't change the radio, use the phone or change air flow or get directions from the screen.some days it doesn't come on at all, others it comes on while driving.you never know, very frustrating.i feel lucky if it comes on when i first start the car.this is unacceptable in a brand new vehicle.
A warning for collision mitigation system problem appeared and then the digital display went blank.previously has happened, and at that time we also lost our power steering.
A brand new 2019 honda odyssey ex with 80 miles on it, started having trouble with vehicle's central display. Message network communication lost , even on slight moves while the car is on smooth freeways. Radio clicking static noise. Display unit turns off and on sporadically while the vehicle in motion or even sometimes when the vehicle is started from parking lot. Vehicle display goes blank completely.cuts off back up camera, no radio, no bluetooth, no apps. As most of functions are controlled with touch screen feel like the vehicle is unsafe to operate. Dealer tried to fix it 2 times but now they blame honda does not a solution yet. Raised a case (10281802) with hondacorporate but honda refused to accept the problem and refused to give a loaner car and said its up to to dealer to give a loaner as a courtesy. I feel like i was sold a lemon. Both honda corporate and honda dealer is not to help me. Dealer says they cannot do anything. I feel the vehicle is not safe to drive with the central display unit which so critical to the vehicle's function. Worst part is radio clicking static noise cannot be controlled as the display is blank. All the above makes me frustrated that it happens on a new car and no one is helping me.
Infotainment system freezes causing battery to drain to zero when parked. Radio stops, navigation stops, phone stops working, backup camera stops working. Evidently a common problem because class action suit filed in march in california. Took to dealer, they changed battery, told me it was fixed. Froze again the next day.vehicle was in motion when system failed. The next morning car would not start because battery drained.this was on a federal highway. Happened again after the battery was changed.
On july 2nd our vehicle wouldn't start. Prior to this date the vehicle worked fine. We call honda roadside assistance and they came and jumped it. My wife let it idle for nearly 1 hour and turned it off. She returned an hour later only to find it was dead again. I decided to come home andjumped it and drove it down the hwy. While driving down the highway there was some vehicles swearving around some debris on the road and when i applied my brakes the vehicle lost power and i wasn't able to stear the vehicle fast enough and hit some of the debris. I let of the brake and the power came back on. I drove home turned the vehicle off and then tried to restart it again only to discover it was dead. I got out of my vehicle and inspected the front end which had minor scratches and cuts in the lower front driver's side bumper
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. The contact stated that there was an abnormal popping sound coming from the dashboard and the electronics in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to hare honda - service department (8693 us-36, avon, in 46123, (317) 854-4791) where an unknown wiring harness and instrument panel were replaced however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was then included in nhtsa campaign number: 20v066000 (electrical system). The vehicle was repaired under the recall however, the failure recurred and worsened. A representative at the dealer contacted the manufacturer on behalf of the contact and requested that a technician be sent to inspect and repair the vehicle. The technician repaired the vehicle however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified by the dealer of the additional failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1,498.
Van has shut off while being driven, transmission jumps constantly at 24 mph, radio goes in and out constantly- have no audio 90% of the time, navigation rarely works, car play rarely works, bluetooth drops phone connection consistently, have had rear camera freeze multiple times
Our 2019 odyssey started having problems shortly after we got it.i tried trouble shooting myself for awhile.finally started taking it to the dealership after 6 months of owning it and it's been there more times than i can count.it has electrical problems, bluetooth doesn't work, the infotainment system doesn't work properly.nobody can hear me when i talk to them through the blue tooth or apple car play.the popping in the dash board is awful and it sounds like the van is going to catch fire at any moment.they have done a dash harness and full body harness on our van with no success.these problems happen when driving and the popping is when the infotainment/radio/music is playing or not playing.it's a serious hazard.
Initially the vehicle would randomly turn off while driving, it was not the idle stop since it is deactivated before driving. The dealer eventually said it was the battery. Then the infotainment system stopped working, the radio was replaced after a week of being at the dealer. Now 3 weeks after repair, the infotainment system does not work. Has a noise that comes out of the speakers like sparks, has a chemical smell, no res usage, no cabin watch or cabin talk. Everything that made the elite trim desired does not work.
The infotainment system is defective. Without warning the entire unit blackouts or locks up rendering it useless. This impacts navigation, all audio, the backup camera and bluetooth connectivity. The vehicle was purchased new in late may and has been returned 2 times for the same problem without resolve. It is going back a third time in the morning. We've provided screenshots and video to the dealer. This malfunction occurs while driving and is a major distraction for my wife and i particularly when you consider highway traffic conditions in houston metro. We've driven the vehicle without cellphones in the cabin vicinity and the malfunction still occurs.
Three hours away from home and the infotainment system went completely out. All of the safety features attached were off and we were unsure of the impact to other features.it would not turn off even after the car was off. It continued to drain the battery without anyway to turn it off. Called honda support and roadside assistance and no one could help me or reassure my family that we were safe to drive the vehicle. Three days later they had to connect two wires at the dealership to reset the system. Appreciate this is a reoccurring issue but no one has given us details of what cause the issue or the overall impact on safety features.
When backing out of the garage, the picture from the backup camera froze and went blank. This has caused a light accident with bumper damage.based on the active recalls, this accident may have happened to to a known defect.
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 70 mph, the vehicle independently shifted into neutral. The contact stated several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The driver cruised to the side of the road safely and had the brake pedal depressed. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to local dealer heritage honda bel air located at 1800 belair rd suite a, fallston, md 21047, (410) 343-5644, where it was diagnosed with needing the battery to be replaced. The contact stated that the battery was replaced however, she continued to experience the failure 45 minutes after leaving the dealer. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 9,566.
Since i purchased this vehicle the headlights dim way down and sometimes change intensity greatly every single time the a/c compressor clutch engages and draws current.all lighting across every system in the vehicle dims way down as well.that is, interior illumination, instrument console and panel, exterior marker lights. All lighting dims when the compressor clutch engages.the local dealership has tried a few things as instructed by the manufacturer but the situation has not been corrected.while out on freeways at night following behind other vehicles, the driver will become annoyed in front thinking that i am purposefully flickering or flashing the headlights to encourage them to speed up or move out of the way.this can cause a dangerous situation.this situation has been present since the vehicle was purchased in november 2018 and remains.
When the vehicle is parked, the head unit malfunctions and stays on, especially after being used for apple car play. It has left us stranded and had to be towed once, two other times, jumped as a brand new vehicle. More importantly, the transmission has issues. Between 20-30 mph, the vehicle disengages with the transmission, loses power, then 'clunks' back into gear. It makes the driver and passengers unsteady, and causes unanticipated slow downs and speed ups. Adult passengers in my vehicle have yelled out in confusion over the loss of power and speed.when the vehicle is stopped, it sometimes hesitated to go into first gear, and then 'clunks' into first, experienced as a 'neutral drop' as if one is driving a manual transmission. Overall, the transmission is clunky, and leads to unexpected vehicle movements, unsteady feedback, and extreme discomfort and worry.
The infotainment system started going bad after owning the vehicle within 2 weeks. When the vehicle is in motion the radio went out with a static sound and complete system blacked out with "network communication error" and restarted while car is in motion and this started repeating on the drive.i took it to the dealer and they said they fixed the problem by rerouting the electrical harness. It worked good for another two days it started getting the same error messages and the whole info screen went out for minutes at a time.i hear static sounds and get messages saying radio out and network problems.honda mentioned it had fixed the error as part of the recalls released recently and had the recalls done and the issue become more frequent and worse, the system gets restarted every few mins. After 3 attempts to the dealer i do not have any success. A clear sign that honda has no clue how to properly and permanently repair the system.
Brakes:significant vibration at 20k miles.entire vehicle shakes violently when braking from highway speeds on a steep decline.electrical: infotainment unit shows no audio available at random times.ticking or "sleet hitting the window" sound from dash speakers.this is very intermittent and can happen at any time.seems to come and go.
My children and i are where on our way home on the the highway, when our odessy van suddenly turned off as i was driving(65 speed limit). It went from driving to going to park and shutting down, everything was flickering and it wouldn't turn on and wouldn't allow me to turn on my emergency lights. I get pushing the star button and it wouldn't turn on until a few minutes later, this is absolutely unacceptable and horribly as i had my children in the car.
Frequent loud crackling noises come from the speakers, followed by a network connection lost error message on the screen, and then the screen will go black and eventually the system will reboot. This will happen repeatedly while driving and does not depend on the state or use of the infotainment system (it can be off and still happen). There seems to be a correlation with going over a bump, suggesting a loose connection somewhere. When restarting or off, the radio, climate controls and the backup camera are all unavailable. This is a safety hazard as it distracts the driver and also prevents usage of the backup camera. Began happening intermittently at around 1500 miles and now at ~1700 miles it happens essentially all the time.
The vehicle wouldn't start and a keyless start problem message appeared.
The vehicle infotainment system crashed even after the safety recall.this made the speedometer go out for a short time, and completely disable the radio, rear camera, res, and most user controls.the system additionally stayed on after the car was powered off, and would only turn off by pulling the fuse!
The infotainment system which controls everything in the vehicle constantly frozen and crashed. All, safety features including the backup camera disabled and couldn't be adjusted because of the system deem the vehicle was in motion even it wasn't. Worst, there is no way to reset or turn off the vehicle without visiting a dealer.many drivers that i knew of are constantly forced to fix the system while driving. This creates serious safety issues for the public safety.
We were on a vacation 5 months after purchase and 40 minutes into our trip the entertainment system, to include audio and visual all turned off. We had to restart the entire care. Repairs were supposedly made the incident continued to happen off and on for a few months. Van was taken in on a thursday for repairs, advised it was fixed. The same error occurred again two days later.
Infotainment system screen becomes dead while driving. Since then, it does not come back even after restarting a car.
While driving on a trip at about 60 mph, the infotainment system stopped working, nothing was functional, including the back-up camera which i heavily rely on. This is a safety issue.in addition, once the vehicle was shut off, the infotainment system wouldn't turn off and started draining the battery. I ended up having to pull the fuse to get it to shut off, which is ver difficult to access. I have had this vehicle to the dealer, they say there is no fix currently available. I am not comfortable using the infotainment system at all in the vehicle, which was one of the main reasons for purchasing.
I purchased a new 2019 honda odyssey elite on 9/17/2019. I drove to work as usual, made sure all electricals (e.g., dome lights, headlights, etc.) were off, parked and alarmed my vehicle. Car remained parked while i worked. After my shift, i tried to use the remote engine start, but noticed the car didn't start. I pressed the unlock button on key fob, but no response; the car remained locked. I tried to unlock via hondalink app, which displayed that car was unlocked. I attempted to open any car door, but they remained locked. I was left stranded in 94*f heat and no nearby shade. Luckily my family weren't there or they would've also been left baking in the heat. I used the manual key to unlock the driver side door and got in. Then tried to start the car but no response at all (i.e, no lights on the hud, lcd monitors, etc.). Also tried unlocking other doors from inside; nothing worked. Called honda roadside assistance & they sent someone to help. Guy tried jump starting car, still nothing. Said he even sent "direct current" to car, but absolutely no response; no lights of any kind, no access to unlock other doors or open windows. Called honda roadside assistance again. They sent a tow truck to tow car to nearest dealership. Tow driver arrived, but couldn't tow my car as there were cars parked in front & in back of my car. There was also no way for him to put the car into neutral due to the electronic shift feature. We looked in car manual for solution. About 2 hrs later, the driver discovered he was able to start car by using key fob to press the start/stop button. I drove to dealership & told them exactly what happened. Said they would perform thorough inspection. It's been 1.5 days & they still don't know the problem. Said they couldn't replicate problem. I'm scheduled to pick up my car today but am hesitant & afraid of being stranded with my family when travelling.
While traveling at highway speed on the highway, the dashboard (including not but limited to speedometer, tachometer, fuel level, current gear, etc) went complete off momentarily and then restarted itself.after the dashboard came back, the dashboard flashed an error like "accident avoidance system problem" for a few seconds and then the system functions normally until it happened again.this has happened 3 times in the last 4 days.i couldn't get a picture of the issue due to the fact that it happened randomly with no clear indication that it was about to happen.
Car shifts into park while driving
The center mounted infotainment system which houses the monitor for the backup camera freezes up and goes blank creating a safety issue. This is a requirement of the cameron gulbrasen kids transportation safety act of 2007 and became a mandate in may 2018. This vehicle is at risk and noncompliant with this act. I have notified both american honda and the dealership where the vehicle was purchased an they are aware of the issue and are making no effort to replace or correct the issue. It is very disturbing that honda does not value the lives of their customers and that they are being allowed to continue to build vehicles with this same condition, unknown what the fix is. This is a serious safety issue and need to be corrected asap.the infotainment systems also freezes and prevents controls of the hvac and dvd player. I have multiple videos of these issues because it happens so frequently.
While in motion on the highway the speedometer and center infotainment system crashed, went black, and began to restart shortly after.while rebooting the car shifted into neutral and there was no warning of the gear changing.the car was able to get off the highway, and had to be towed per the dealers recommendation for safety.
Supper loud static noise. Board controls shut down, cannot control heat, navigation shuts down. Supper loud static noise. Took to local honda.. They aware of this issue but no solution to fix at this time... 3 times already. Also vehicle while operating.. When this noises occurfeels like its loosing power
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. While driving various speeds, the contact noticed a strong fuel odor inside the cabin of the vehicle through the vents. When the failure occurred, the odor was detected for 72 hours. The contact also mentioned that the phone charger port in the rear of the vehicle overheated and caused the cell phone to also overheat. The vehicle was taken to honda west (7615 w sahara ave, las vegas, nv 89117, (800) 249-9504) where the contact was informed that the failure was a known issue, but the cause of the failure was unknown. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,658.
The radio and computer system crackles make loud noise that sounds like wiring rubbing together, computer screen shuts off and resets and you lose functionality of your system that is connected to radio, phones and maps. This happens intermittently and the vehicle can be motion or stationary.
On the gauge cluster the vehicle normally tells me what gear i am in such as d for drive.sometimes it does not show it and other times it works fine.the odyssey has a push button transmission and it is easy to get confused sometimes when it is not working.i have gotten out of the van and forgot it was still in drive once.
2/5/2020 i was traveling at highway speeds with moderate traffic, when the main display screen in my minivan started flashing error messages. The radio display screen was acting wacky also. The van started making a loud rapid 'click.click.click." type noise. I was trying to figure out what was happening, when i noticed that the display said "p" for park. I could not accelerate to merge out of traffic. It happened so fast and was so startling. I was able to coast and move over to the shoulder and stop the van. I turned off the ignition and started it back up and it drove normally. My husband took it to the dealership and they moved the toll tag sticker on the windshield and said it was interfering with the sensors. 2/6/2020 i was too scared to drive it, so my husband drove it. He was on the freeway and the same thinghappened to him. It is currently at the dealership. The dealership now says it is loose connections at the battery. The noise it made was horrible and i'm concerned that there is physical damage to the vehicle.the van has just over 5,000 miles on it and was purchased in september 2019
Vehicles in motion on freeway and city roads. Dash warning lights go haywire when driving. Loss of of lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control while driving is a serious safety issues. All warning lights turn on. Dealership reset the computer but issue not resolved. Issue has been happening since october 2018. Honda roseville automall dealership made repairs yesterday 12/27/18 by resetting computer. Still did not fix problem.
There are 2 issues, possibly related. First of all, warning for collision mitigation system problem appeared and then the digital display went blank.the steering wheel shook violently. In the second problem that occurred, a warning light flashed on and off (too quickly to determine what it said) and then the car went into neutral on it's own. The car was in motion in both occurrences.
I returned home from picking up my children from school, and the passenger door on the driver's side would not close.contacted dealership, they had no answer but to tow the vehicle to them. Brand new, 6 days old honda odyssey elite 2019, power sliding door does not close electrically or manually. The vehicle was stationary. Vehicle had to be towed back to the dealership.
After a week of driving a brand new honda odyssey 2019, with 177 mileage, the car had transmission problems, blind spot info system problem, and emission system problem. As i was exiting the freeway, i noticed the car was not accelerating when i pushed the gas pedal. When the gas pedal was pushed, i saw the rpm increased to 5000-6000r/min and i heard loud vroom noise coming our from my car. While the car still had some momentum right off the freeway, i made two right turn and came to a complete stop at the stop sign near my apartment. This incident happened at around 8:30pm, and other cars had to drive around us. My wife and two toddlers were in the car with me. We were very frightened by this incident as we could not believe an engine/transmission failure can happened to a brand new honda car with only 177 mileage.
We started taking our 2019 honda odyssey to the dealership in nov 2019 on radio/speaker issues. The same problems still persist after a handful of attempts at fixing with newer parts. This is becoming very frustrating as a consumer, especially after multiple attempts at a solution. We have owned multiple new honda's, and quite a few used ones. We have several videos of it going off and on while driving, sitting still, hitting a bump etc. Now it's to the point where it won't even come on at all when you start the vehicle.

Van randomly slammed on the brakes, with nobody in front of me, while i was going 75mph on the highway. Van will sporadically not accelerate when pressing gas pedal, then slowing start to move but not fast enough to pull into traffic on city street, causing me to almost be t-boned 5 times then decide to start rapidly accelerate and make me fish tail. After putting vehicle in park, it rolls 6"-12" (depending on incline). Too many tech issues to list (rear backup camera stops working while in use, audio will turn off an not turn back on while driving, navigation has been "loading" for months, etc)
1. 2nd row driver and passenger seats do not "lock" into place when folded forward, creating a "free flying" seat when driving/in motion and an entrapment issue when parked for 3rd row passengers attempting to exit the 3rd row.this is specially dangerous on a hill.my 3 year old has been hit and injured by the seat on a several occasions. 2. Engine lurches and stalls while in motion. Stalling causes potential risk for accident. 3. Driver and passenger sliding door will not open on occasion.this means getting 2nd and 3rd row passengers out of trunk or climbing through to driver/passenger seat. All of these have been brought to the attention of the dealership, they cannot reproduce 1 and 3.had no solution for #2 (a simple locking addition to the seat footing would fix #2, toyota sienna's lock on place)
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. While stopped, the vehicle hesitated when attempting to switch to a higher gear to accelerate. Ocean honda of north hollywood (5841 lankershim blvd, north hollywood, ca 91601, (888) 282-4550) could not duplicate the failure and returned the vehicle to the contact. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and the vehicle was driven daily. The manufacturer was contacted and provided a case number. The contact was waiting for a callback from a case manager. The contact believed the manufacturer did not feel the failure was a safety issue. The failure mileage was 3,000.consumer stated three times trans failed "shift" into higher gear.
While driving at low speed in the process of shifting between 3 and 4th gear van shifts very hard . So much so that at times my body is thrusted forward which causes me to momentarily lose sight of road. While shifting it seems to vehicle seems lunge at higher speed. This occurs at low rpm and will usually occur when speed hits 24mph. Hard shift also occurs when slowing down but not as common . This occurs when driving on stop and go traffic when it requires driving at lower speeds. When vehicle was 1st purchased this was not experienced, it was until after 6 months that this started occurring.had dealership look at vehicle and they were able to replicate issue and informed me that vehicle was operating as intended. I also contacted honda north america and they said they couldn't help since dealership said it was operating normally. They suggested i review my consumer rights brochure if i wanted to take additional action.there are various post online with exact same issue. My concern is safety of my family and feel there is flaw in the design which honda is not willing to accept responsibility nor willing to fix the issue
2019 honda ex-l has exhibited a knocking noise from idle to around 2000 rpm under load since new.the vehicle currently has 10,000 miles and has been to 3 separate honda dealerships a total of 7 times.honda can replicate the engine knock, but has refused to take the actions necessary to diagnose the cause.the vehicle has been reviewed by a 3rd party ase certified mechanic that cited the noise is not normal.
On december 19, 2018, the day after we had the maintenance and brake fluid repaired, we were driving the car on a freeway. Suddenly, the car shook wildly for a moment and thick white smoke started to issue from the car. To make matters worse, the accelerator did not work, so our car could only reach speed up to 25 miles per hour, much slower than the other cars honking and racing past us on the freeway. We barely made it to the next exit, where we had to park at the nearest gas station to check what was going on. We were under extreme danger and stress from this incident as it happened in the middle of the road and we were extremely close to colliding with other cars. Honestly, no words can dare to express the fear and dread of imminent death we experienced that time. We thought we were going to be crushed to death at that moment.after a few minutes in a nearby parking lot, when we started the car again, the check engine light was gone, and the accelerator started working normally. However, although the problem has seemed to have 'gone away' for now, we do not know when or where it may occur again. It scares us that the car seems so innocently normal again.
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 mph, the vehicle abruptly shutoff as several warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. Once the failure occurred, the contact stated that she was unable to place the vehicle into neutral as the engine would not restart. The contact also stated that a warning message that read; place car in neutral, please turn on engine, also appeared on the instrument panel. The contact had the vehicle towed to ken garff honda riverdale (950 w riverdale rd, ogden, ut 84405) however, the vehicle was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
Car has under 7000 miles. Engine struggles with power in lower gears. There is also a jump when shifting from reverse to forward. The jump feel like a transmission gear transfer issue. Today as an example, when departing from a traffic light, i had to fully compress the gas pedal to get the engine to respond. In general, the lower gears feel sluggish and this has been the case since purchase. The engine simply sounds different than any of our previous honda odyssey's. At higher speeds, on a highway, the engine is responsive. We're in a do loop with mechanics as the problem is not always repeatable. Hope this helps if you start seeing trends.
2019 honda odyssey ex-l purchased new in september 2019.at approximately 7,000 miles of use, developed noticeable metallic rattle and associated engine knock-like noise.dealership of purchase was notified and vehicle was brought into service.after six days, owner was notified that most likely defect was a failed main bearing in engine crankshaft assembly and that honda cars of na would replace engine.
Car accelerates or bucks when changing gears whilst driving. Returned car to honda garage twice and they claim there is no fault unless engine light illuminates. Car has only 14,000 miles, front tires have worn prematurely and car shakes when applying brakes.
The vehicle hesitates.it chokes so badly that it is a danger to drive.i do not know if this is a result of the new transmission type or a problem with the engine.i suspect that the problem is related to the transmission because of how you reach the point where it chokes.plus the two dealers it was sent to for repair hinted to me that the issue is the new style transmission. Here's one typical example.sitting at an intersection waiting to turn left.if i take my foot off the brake and apply my foot to the gas pedal without hesitation it typically works fine.however, if i touch the gas, back off the pedal then hit the gas pedal again, i'm left in the intersection not moving for a few seconds.this has become critically dangerous. I have taken my vehicle to two honda dealers within the first 10,000 miles.i explained the problem and both dealers said the exact same thing."yes, we hear this from all the customers with that transmission.it's normal and nothing can be done to correct it."they did nothing further for it. Since the dealer made no diagnosis of it the manufacturer will not address it. I experienced this issue from the very first day of ownership and there are no warnings.
On november 11, 2019, i sent my honda odyssey to a honda dealer for maintenance. Everything went normally. After the maintenance, i drove my car back home. Every day, i go to work and work normally. About 10 days after the maintenance, the engine light suddenly turns on. After the car was turned on, the engine lights returned to normal. Every day when i went to work, i found that there was a pool at the bottom of the front of the car. I wonder if it was water or oil? i didn't care too much just after finishing the maintenance. In the state of the car, i drove it for another week. At the end, the engine light made a sound and i checked that my engine oil was almost gone. It's hard to believe. The engine oil that i just finished maintenance was gone within 20 days. This is too scary. The engine ran out of oil. I had driven for so many days. It's just killing. I returned the car to a honda dealer for inspection, but just helped me fill up the engine oil without any explanation. This way i can't accept it. Please help me defend my rights. What causes the loss of engine oil? find out later i'm afraid i'll die. At present, the right rear tire of the car shows that the air pressure is not enough. I checked that the tires are not piercing, and i also performed a lot of air refills, which did not work. It should show that the air pressure is insufficient. Thank you for auditing my issue to help me complete my rights. Now i think that the engine is scared without oil.
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. While driving more than 20 to 25 mph, the vehicle jerked and stalled. Nalley honda (4197 jonesboro rd, union city, ga 30291, (404) 994-4321) stated that there was no failure; however, the failure recurred a week later. The contact believed that the dealer had performed some repairs and did not tell her. The contact researched online and saw multiple complaints from others experiencing the same failure. The dealer contacted the manufacturer and informed the contact that the manufacturer had never heard of this type of failure. The contact suspected that the failure was related to the transmission. The failure mileage was 800. The vin was unknown.
While driving 25-35 mph there is a hard shift to the next gear.it jerks you forward in your seat.there is also an issue while the heat/air fan is on it continuously cuts out.also notice a knocking noise at time from the engine.
The contact owned a 2019 honda odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph, she saw smoke coming from the hood of the vehicle while approaching a stop. The vehicle then caught on fire. The fire department was notified and extinguished the fire. A fire report ( 2200115) was taken at the scene . There were no injuries as a result of the fire. The vehicle was totaled due to the fire and was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact stated that a dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,000.
Car automatically shifts the transmission to the park position while in motion; brakes were locked automatically and the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road.
Upon startup of the vehicle, a strong burning smell was sensed. The vehicle was briefly put into a slow reverse to take it out of the garage and a very rough idle started, black smoke appeared out of the tail pipe and every possible error message appeared one after the other on the dash. The vehicle was then briefly put into drive for a couple inches forward back into the garage with very little power on acceleration and an even stronger burning smell. The dealer was contacted and advised having the car towed in to be evaluated. Upon evaluation the dealer advised that the issue was a leaking fuel injector caused by a faulty fuel rail design from the factory. The injector leak caused too much fuel to be put into the cylinder causing the spark plugs to fowl out. The dealer stated honda was aware of the issue also in 2018 models and they assumed they would have corrected the fuel rail design for the 2019 model. The dealer then advised that they could not make any repair until the redesigned fuel rail was released a month from now. The vehicle was purchased new 2 months ago and currently has apx 5,000 miles. The fact that this was caused by an error in the fuel rail design from the factory indicates the problem likely has been causing damage and posing a safety risk of possible engine fire from the leaking fuel injector the entire 5,000 miles of ownership. Also, it is unknown how the leak may affect the engine in the future due to the leak and design flaw persisting since it was sold new from the factory.
Hi there- i am currently live in nc. I have issue with my honda oddysey. I seen that you had filed case with american honda with issues i am having currently. (event 1 and 2 happened 10 minutes apart) our new van shifts in the park while driving at highway speeds (62 mph). We took it to freeway honda the first time and they were unable to render any errors, so the vehicle was returned to us. (event 3) occurred on 12/16/2018 around 11:42 am. We were driving near the 405/5 y merge and the car suddenly shifted into park. We were able to capture this event on video and here is the direct youtube link to the event: https://youtu.be/kiztkmoyi-m . Car is currently at the honda dealer where they stated they will replace the transmission. There is also a "crash mitigation error" that appears in our instrument panel from time to time that the dealership is unable to reproduce and cannot fix.
Supper loud static noise. Board controls shut down, cannot control heat, navigation shuts down. Supper loud static noise. Took to local honda.. They aware of this issue but no solution to fix at this time... 3 times already. Also vehicle while operating.. When this noises occurfeels like its loosing power
Auto emergency breaking: vehicle often engages emergency breaking at highway speeds when a vehicle is slightly ahead, in a different lane, and brakes while exiting the highway, and there is no danger or no vehicles directly in front of this vehicle.other vehicles following behind me have to manually (or automatically as well) brake accordingly and this creates both a nuisance and dangerous situation.speed control / transmission:vehicle has moved forward while in "reverse", often "surges" in speed while for a brief moment while shifting, has moved/lurched when starting the engine.the instance of moving forward while in reverse caused a near miss in hitting another vehicle.the surging, in particular on downhills, causes the vehicle to accelerate slightly.
I am reporting a very strange occurrence with my 2019 honda odyssey mini-van.i was driving on tuesday evening and it was very foggy and i was approaching one of those large metal plates they put over a trench they dig in the road when they do construction (it covers the trench) and my car started flashing "brake" like it does sometimes when it thinks a car is in front of it.typically, this flashes occasionally when a car gets too close, but then goes away as long as the car moves out of the way.this time, there was no car, just an open foggy road and this large metal plate on the road.however, as i got closer to the metal plate, suddenly my brakes fully locked up and the vehicle went into an emergency full stop.i was pushing on the accelerator but it would not go and the vehicle came to a complete and sudden stop.thankfully no one was behind me, or i would have gotten into an accident.then the vehicle started to move again and has been totally fine since.but, what is this all about?it seems the emergency braking mode kicked in but it should not have, the road was wide open and the only thing unusual was a large metal plate covering some hole in the road.
Going 25mph. Steering wheel shook then dash read in black "brake" with orange background. Van brakedon its own. Nearest car was 75 feet away.
Upon startup of the vehicle, a strong burning smell was sensed. The vehicle was briefly put into a slow reverse to take it out of the garage and a very rough idle started, black smoke appeared out of the tail pipe and every possible error message appeared one after the other on the dash. Braun wheelchair conversion on 2019 honda odyssey.gas overflows from below due to gas line in fuel tank. Fuel tank replaced on honda by braun, braun hand builds the defective tank. Fire department had to come because of all the gas overflowing under van.i had filled the gas tank night before,12-16 hours later while parked in my drive way gas was leaking onto driveway at least 2 gallons. Looked like a slow drip that time i saw it was a spewing faucet. I had van towed to honda dealership but was transferred to braun dealership. Braun is going to make another fuel tank after jan 6 in indiana then ship to lubbock texas end of jan, early feb. Same set up ! i don't want this unsafe van that may again spew gas and high risk for explosion or fire.

2019 honda odyssey. Consumer writes in regards to various defects. *ldthe consumer stated all the doors unlock independently. The sliding doors, including the rear hatch, unlock and open independently and while driving. The vehicle windows and sunroof open fully independently, while the vehicle was locked.
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. While the vehicle was parked in the driveway of the contact's home, the automatic lock system did not operate. The feature was supposed to activate when the contact was 1.5 meters away from the vehicle. The following day, the contact discovered that the doors were unlocked. The vehicle was taken to tier one auto group leasing and finance (1562 bath ave, brooklyn, ny 11228, (718) 331-3331) to be diagnosed, but no failure could be found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with case number: 09741632. The contact was awaiting a request for an investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
Transmission shifts erratic. When going from reverse to drive the transmission delays engagement to 1st gear. This behavior causes a clunk to 1st gear and sometimes rapid acceleration when it does engage and the gas pedal is depressed. Vehicle has been to the dealer many times to address but the issue remains.
While in motion on the highway the speedometer and center infotainment system crashed, went black, and began to restart shortly after.while rebooting the car shifted into neutral and there was no warning of the gear changing.the car was able to get off the highway, and had to be towed per the dealers recommendation for safety.
I was driving my 2019 honda odyssey up a slight incline and then suddenly i lost all power.the minivan automatically put itself in neutral and the dashboard screen switched between saying, "stop driving when safe. Transmission problems. See manual" and "transmission problem. Apply parking brake when parked." given that i had no power i had to pull to the side of the road. I feel lucky that this did not occur on the highway.after pulling over to the side of the road, i was unable to put the car in park or drive.it was locked in neutral.i turned off the car and when i turned it back on the car had automatically put itself in park and i was unable to put it into any gear (drive or reverse).i called hondaroad side assistance who scheduled a tow truck to come get the minivan.this loss of power occurred on a city street at about 25 miles per hour.i had two of my little children in the minivan and this experience was quite scary.both me and my children could have been seriously injured when the car suddenly, and without warning, lost all power while driving.i am concerned that this will lead to serious injuries, particularly if this occurs on the highway.
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. While driving approximately 10 mph, the gear shifted into park, there was a shrieking noise, and the vehicle stopped without warning. The contact called an unknown honda dealer in deland, florida and was informed that the general manager would call back. The contact was not called back. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall; however, the failure was not a known issue. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,900.
While driving approximately 24 mph, the vehicle shifts erratically intermittently. A loud pop is heard and the vehicle lunges forward. Brought it to the dealership, they told me the problem is brought to their attention often by many customers, but that honda says the transmission is working as designed. The issue wasn't apparent for the first 15,000 miles, but now it happens about 1 or 2 times every time i take the car out. This happens typically when you start from 0, ease up to about 24 to 26 mph, take your foot off the gas for a couple seconds, then try to accelerate again. It will hesitate, then pop/lunge. Not every time though. This specific issue is mentioned in a class action lawsuit in florida and also in numerous message boards online.
Vehicle is prohibited from shifting transmission out of park when engine is not running.if vehicle engine shuts off and will not re-start and vehicle is in unsafe location (i.e. In a roadway), the push-button transmission prohibits shifting the car to neutral in order to push it out of the roadway or to load on a flatbed tow truck.this is potentially dangerous if the vehicle is prohibited from being moved if it is unable to start the motor but the vehicle stops in a potentially dangerous location (railroad tracks, intersection, etc).

Transmission is slow to get into first gear. There is a noticeable and significant delay when going from a complete stop and pressing the gas to go quickly. This occurs more frequently before the engine warms up. I have spoken to the local honda dealership and they say its just how the transmission is supposed to work. This has occurred since the vehicle was brand new and has persisted til now with thousands of miles on the van.
Our 2019 honda odyssey transmission failed while driving my kids in early 2020.the minivan was towed to grappone honda in concord, nh and the transmission was replaced.the new transmission now jerks and stutters particularly at low speeds (20-40 mph).i am afraid it is going to fail again and place me or my family at risk for being in an accident. I took the minivan in for service on january 6th of this year and was told that the transmission was working fine.this transmission is clearly not working correctly and i am concerned we will be in an accident.
The emission control system error keeps coming on and going off. This time (08/22/21) van stopped while i was driving it. The honda darcars in bowie, md has stated they will not look at the van and they can't diagnosis the problem without the system error being displayed on the van when it is brought in for service. No, the van has not been inspected yet. The emission control system error light comes and has come on several times, but it keeps going back off. As, mentioned before the honda darcars in bowie, md has previously stated they will not look at the van. I've contacted the honda corporation prior to this incident to complain about the dealer not wanting to look at the van.
Experienced issues when trying to accelerate from a stop, merging into traffic, driving uphill and changing gears at low speeds.here are the specifics:sudden, unexpected and violent shaking and jerking (commonly referred to as 'juddering' or 'shuddering')hesitation when pressing on the gas pedalsurging, clunking or hard 'downshifting'also after a recent recall service done on the doors, i did not notice any change, the door does not respond well upon pulling the door handle, sometimes it needs to be pulled upon multiple times for the automatic side door to open.
This is a serious safety issue.when driving the vehicle, the transmission has an issue where it can launch the vehicle into traffic.more specifically, after a complete stop at a stop sign or traffic light, when the throttle pedal is depressed to initiate forward motion, the transmission hesitates, then engages, causing the vehicle to launch into traffic.many times there is an unintended tire squeal.other times, this hesitation and launch makes the vehicle much more difficult to control.i've had this vehicle for slightly less than one year.the transmission hesitation and safety issue has become progressively worse over that time.
Driving down the highway the vehicle started shifting weird coasted to a stop the vehicle. The vehicle displayed an error transmisson problem apply parking brake when stopped. The car also displayed errors related to the blind spot monitoring and emissions system.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and needed transmisson replaced with only 312 miles on the vehicle.
My main issue has to do with downshifting. Since these new vans have no emergency brake pedal to use if all braking fails, i became very concerned when i noticed that the 9-speed revs the motor up going down hill while downshifting. This is to such a level that the vehicle cannot engine brake itself. You absolutely have to hit the brakes because it will not slow itself down.so, when coasting down a 6% and steeper grade with no accel pedal at all.....the transmission does not gear down on its own at all. It will free wheel. Which is fine.so, when the acc cruise is engaged with the minimum follow distance set, on a 6% or steeper grade.....the transmission will sequentially downshift. Upon each downshift the engine throttle is blipped causing the vehicle to speed downhill a bit more.....and a bit more. When you get to the d5 to d4 downshift the throttle is agressively blippled and the van will speed ahead as if to pass. Sometimes speeds will reach 75mph down hill and agressive braking is required by the driver. You then lose your preset acc. . knowing that i have no emergency brake pedal that i can modulate pressure/braking with the release handle.so. When using standard cruise control set on a 6% or steeper grade.....the transmission will downshift. You then lose your preset cruise control.knowing that i have no emergency brake pedal that i can modulate pressure/braking with the release handle.this situation has been present since purchase.
Have a 2019 honda odyssey that is experiencing hard shifting into 3rd gear. It has less than 4k miles on it and whenever it reaches 25 it jerks the car quite noticeably. Brought it into the dealer and they acknowledged there was a "sound" when it shifted into third gear but couldn't replicate the "hard shift" that i've noticed. They said it's operating as normal.
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. While driving at an unknown speed, there was a hard shift among first to second to third gears. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerated when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the hard shift was felt both during acceleration and deceleration. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 6,547. The vin was invalid.

The contacted stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the vehicle hesitated to switch into the proper gear with an abnormal sound coming from the driver's side front of vehicle. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to honda of downtown los angeles located at 780 w. Martin luther king jr blvd, los angeles, ca 90037, however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and case filed was filed. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
Vehicle has 3500 miles and became disabled and displayed transmission error on the dash. Unable to drive.third is the second 2019 odyssey with transmission issues the first had to have transmission replaced at 300 miles.
The 9 speed transmission jerks and bangs while moving. Driving from slow speed the car jerks and stalls. At hwy speeds the car bangs very hard - it seems like it is being bumped. We thought it stalled at hwy speed after it banged very hard.honda service says they cannot find problem. We have been driving car for 2.5 years - and the issues are getting more frequent and harder.
While driving on a ramp and slowing down, the transmission switched itself from drive to neutral while making a loud noise.this happened only once on 09/04/2019after riding to the shoulder, turned off engine and restarted the minivan and was able to ride again normally
Jolt or hard shift on 9 speed transmission when shifting in low gear. Honda said this was caused by the smart transmission software trying to match driving patterns. Resets reduced the problem but they soon came back - unknown if this causes long term issues with transmission.
Highway driving straight on level ground at 70mph. Hit gas to change lanes and van slowed to 55mph before it picked up speed again. 1300 miles later on same trip driving 60 mph up a small incline hit gas and van slowed down to 45mph before it picked up speed again. Two different honda dealers told me they couldn't help with this issue. 36,485 miles on van when first problem occurred.
The vehicle down shifts to a lower speed during travel.it occurred while driving 45 miles/hr, at 70 miles/hr and when the vehicle is on cruise.first time it happened i thought the transmission broke.it was in the middle of the traffic.a couple of messages popped on the dash,'transmission system problem' and 'blind spot info. System problem'.i pushed the reverse button it was inactive, neutral was working.took the car into a parking lot and called the dealer.dealer asked if i turned the engine off and on.i did that and the issue went away.a 1000 miles later the issue occurred again twice with in 12 hours with a new message on top the two first messages.this time the third message was 'emissions system problem'.i took photos this time of the messages.i turned the engine off and on but the 'emissions system problem' message did not go away. I took the car to honda dealer and they couldn't find anything.after that, after + miles later after visiting the dealer it happened again and this time i was on the highway driving 70 miles per hour.i continued driving on low gear to get off the highway.i turned off the engine and turned it on again then it was ok.another time my wife was driving the vehicle with the cruise on and it did the same thing again.that is a total of 6 times within 20000 miles.it happened at about 10000 miles, 15000+ miles, 160159 milesi took the car to another honda dealer this timeand they couldn't find anything.i contacted honda to report the issue.honda said if the dealer can't find anything then there is nothing to do.this bothered me.i decided to contact nhtsa.this is a safety issue to me.what do you advise me to do?
Iwas driving about 10 mph coming out of a parking garage when the vehicle suddenly shifted itself into park and came to an abrupt stop.myself as well as my passengers where thrown forward by the suddenness of the stop. If this had happened on the highway or in heavy traffic it could have been catastrophic.
The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. The contacted stated while driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle hesitated to switch to the correct gear. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to grainger honda located at (1596 chatham pkwy, savannah, ga 31408) but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.
Between the speeds of 24 - 27 mph there is a quick jolt that seems like the car is shifting. The jolt is repeatable.we have found several online forums where others are complaining.https://www.odyclub.com/threads/2019-odyssey-hard-shifting-3rd-gear.353891/we told our honda dealership and they said it was a known issue but they did not have a fix yet and there is not a recall at this time.the 10 gear transmissions of the same year were recalled due.
Seat beltsecond row (on the driver side) webbing gets stuck inside and cannot pull often times.i'm not sure if the retractor issue.break - car itself makes a sudden break and release right away while cmbs system is turned off.same thing happens while there is no car in front or not switching the lanes.
1. 2nd row driver and passenger seats do not "lock" into place when folded forward, creating a "free flying" seat when driving/in motion and an entrapment issue when parked for 3rd row passengers attempting to exit the 3rd row.this is specially dangerous on a hill.my 3 year old has been hit and injured by the seat on a several occasions.
Water keeps leaking in the trunk. Everytime it rains there is a puddle in the trunk. This has happened well over 15 times and american honda has not acknowledged this being as recall. This issue has been all over the forum and reddit as well. I am not the first one that has faced this issue.
Brakes locked when i had to stop abruptly because driver in front started and then stopped.unable to advance vehicle.tapping brakes did not release them.required that i pump brake peddle with force.created a dangerous situation because i was advancing from a left turn lane and was stuck in oncoming traffic on a busy state hwy.
Car accelerates or bucks when changing gears whilst driving. Returned car to honda garage twice and they claim there is no fault unless engine light illuminates. Car has only 14,000 miles, front tires have worn prematurely and car shakes when applying brakes.
Hold brake releases automatically without pressing accelerator
Brakes:significant vibration at 20k miles.entire vehicle shakes violently when braking from highway speeds on a steep decline.electrical: infotainment unit shows no audio available at random times.ticking or "sleet hitting the window" sound from dash speakers.this is very intermittent and can happen at any time.seems to come and go.

Van has shut off while being driven, transmission jumps constantly at 24 mph, radio goes in and out constantly- have no audio 90% of the time, navigation rarely works, car play rarely works, bluetooth drops phone connection consistently, have had rear camera freeze multiple times
I had new brakes put on my car my brakes for less 12,000 miles ago. I took my car back in today my front left brake is cracked and the caliper was blue indicating it was getting extremely hot.i have taken my vehicle in three times for an issue with the radio because i can hear others talking but they cannot hear me. The radio has not work since i bought the car.also, there are times when i push the gas that the car stalls for a few secondsi am very dissatisfied with the price i paid for this car and all the issues iā€™ve had
Driving on an expressway, the cars in front of me are slowing down, my car's collision mitigation braking system sends a visual alert with the "brake" signal coming on and i feel the brakes engaging, simultaneously i slam on the brakes, and while there was still distance between the car in front of mine and mine, i am not able to brake.the brakes seem confused, and the impact is so strong that my head almost reaches the steering wheel.the seatbelt is locked in place and leaves me sore.once i am able to get ahold that i was just in a car accident, i am unable to lower the windows, the car is able to call for help on it's own and does so although nothing comes of that in that no help comes.once i get off the van i notice the plate is knocked and on the floor, the bumper has fallen off and the hood and grill are curled up pictures attached.the car seems to be leaking a fluid and we are unable to start it.i believe that because we (the car and i) simultaneouslyhaving the system engaging on it's own and my slamming on the brakes prevented the brakes from working.the impact was with such velocity that it's impossible to have had them working properly.this is an important safety concern if the driver and the system are unable to work together or too confusing for the system.interestingly, the air bags didn't deploy!additionally, the initial scan by the auto body shop had many alerts come up but the ones i would like to highlight are abs - ecm failure and integrated driver support system - brake actuator malfunction, attaching that scan too.
New odyssey with 3k miles my braks making grinding noise and unable to come to full stop as normal time and distance
Going 25mph. Steering wheel shook then dash read in black "brake" with orange background. Van brakedon its own. Nearest car was 75 feet away.
There is a vibration when brakes are applied on a downhill especially on a 6% grade.brakes are fine on a straigt non hill and a minor downhill descent..vibration seems to occur only when brakes are applied frequently on a steep downhill. Vibration begins with a minor shake than gradually becomes heavy on the shake feeling on the steering wheel and frontal area of van.the front passenger experience the vibration as well.there are 8 passengers on board including our baggage - 4 adults and 3 kids.we notice this problem only on a long decent on a steep hill whill applying the brakes frequently.we felt insecure and had to let go of the brake pedals frequently just to perhaps cool down the barkes then apply again on staggered times.we reported this to a honda dealer in loma linda and they said its not covered by warranty nor on recall.it was so surprising to hear that because there has been a lot of complaints about this issue and nothing has been done about this dilemma.its a still a new vehicla and i think there shouldn't even have this sort of problem with only 23000 miles on it and its hardly been used .we only use this for family travels.pease look investigate on this problem becasuse apparently nothing has been issued to recalls nor covered warrantly especially when its only last year's model 2019!
Car automatically shifts the transmission to the park position while in motion; brakes were locked automatically and the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road.
Four times in last 3 months when heading into sun, 40 mph, empty rural road,, auto braking system flashed crash warning on screen in back of steering wheel. There were no hazards. I question whether the brakes might be applied. Santa fe honda dealer, on oct 23, 2019 said this happens but is not a problem if i move the steering wheel a little, then the warning will go away and no braking will occur.nothing dangerous did occur, but i am concerned and disengage the system if i remember. Must be done every time engine is started.

Road departure mitigation system malfunction warning came on. Steer wheel locked almost causing head on crash. 2nd time this has happened in 2 weeks with this vehicle.
Sunroof get popped up 2 times in 3months, this is safety hazard for me and my family member! when i report to dealership and honda ! seems they don't even care about this issue. I had police report show there is no object hit to body and it's just glass get broke by itself when drive in highway !! it's very scary to ride honda odyssey 2019
I was struck in the head while loading groceries by the sliding passenger door,i had let the windows down to let heat out, this vehicle does not have power doors but has power windows,i had the window all the way down the parking space sloped slightly to the front of the vehicle,in the process of loading i took my hand off the door it started closing i caught it just as it hit me in the head ,i was knot seriously injured by me catching the door ,but got a not on my head, this a family vehicle and fill that it poses a possible serious injury to any passenger while loading or unloading.
The non-power tailgate on my 2019 honda odyssey ex only opens to, a head bashing, about 5 ft 10 in. Me, my wife, and my 13-year daughter repeatedly hit our heads on the liftgate. The 2019-2021 trims with power liftgate open higher than 6ft 2 inches. Also, prior generations (pre-2019) of honday odyssey liftagtes opened higher than 6 ft. With our current 2019 ex trim me, my wife, and our 13-year-old daughter all have to duck every time we load/unload the trunk. The dealer told me it's normal for the ex liftgate to open only 5ft 10in or so. I complained to honda corporate after i, again, hit my head (with scars and photos to prove it). Honda called me and said that it is normal. I owned several cars before, honda and other brands, and never ever had an issue hurting my head on the liftgate. I am 6ft 1in. This issue is an innjury hazard. Honda needs to admit to this as either an engineering or design oversight, or a bad decision, with the non-power ex trim liftgate. The power liftgate trims (more expensive) do open higher than 6 ft, so clearly it is not impossible to fix the issue. I also checked the 2021 odyssey models today at the local honda dealership - honda did not address the issue: the ex non-power liftgate still opens at a similar 5'10'' while the more expensive ex-l power liftgate opens beyond 6'3''. Please help me and many other ex trim owners with the same issue. A long conversation here: https://www.odyclub.com/threads/problem-with-opening-height-of-tailgate-on-2019-honda-odyssey-ex.349995/thank you. Most recent time i hit my head was on feb/8
Inside panel of sliding door keeps popping off. This obstructs opening and closing of door. Sometimes the panel is so far disengaged that the door cannot be opened from tbe outside due to contact with the body of the van. This has occurred multiple times and has had numerous unsucccessful repairs made by the dealer.
Rear lift gate was not properly manufactured and was leaking water that could lead to mold growth. Issue was taken into service 3 separate times and different leaks were found each time.honda corporate provided no assistance or support for resolving this issue and couldn't even find records of the complaint (i called and started a case each time - thank goodness i maintain records on this).apparently, honda corporate has no concern about water leaks or the quality of their manufactured product once it is sold to a consumer.
I bought my 2019 honda odyssey ex-l navi res yesterday on 9/15/18. While the vehicle was parked and stationary, i attempted to open the passenger door using the driver button. It would open and then about halfway it would close. I attempted this several times with the same result. I then tried to open using the passenger exterior handles but still the same result. When it started to close again i tried to see if it would open if i manually did it but it almost crushed my hand. Luckily it was only my shirt that got stuck. I was able to force it open using my shoulders. The vehicle only had 178 miles.
2019 honda odyssey. Consumer writes in regards to various defects. *ldthe consumer stated all the doors unlock independently. The sliding doors, including the rear hatch, unlock and open independently and while driving. The vehicle windows and sunroof open fully independently, while the vehicle was locked.

The central display goes blank, sometimes i get a message network communications lost, when its blank there is no backup camera, radio, entertainment system phone bluetooth... And even when the display work the backup camera will not always display and the entertainment system will not always work., i also hear a popping sound from the speaker system like some wires are loose...i also had a few times that the dashboard behind the steering wheel where the speed and other important info are displayed went blank.this happened when the car was brand new with less than 500 miles, i went to service but it didnt help. The consumer stated that in march of 2020, they were informed that their was radio was serviced without forewarning. *as
Information center cuts in and out. Sometimes the whole screen is black, no backup camera, no nothing! it locks up, can dial the phone, or go between other options.has been happening about a year now.
Worried somebody triedhacking into my car/ computer. While returning from a bike ride about 300 ft away car started beeping, lights came on.
2019 honda oddesay battery died on us at 2960 miles! after my wife and my two babies, drove the car for almost 45 min. Went to the zoo and came back 4 hours later only to find the car battery dead!4/7/19, 4:45 pm!called honda road assistant and when finally arrived at 5:20 pm he had a hard time clamping his portable battery pack into the car battery due to limited space around those battery terminal connections. He had to hold the claps manually in place!so even if i had was there and had a portable battery i couldn't start up the cars since it was impossible to clamps to battery terminals securely and jump inside to push the ignition key!
There is an issue with the infotainment system. Rear back up camera does not work. Radio does not work and carplay does not work
I purchased a new 2019 honda odyssey elite on 9/17/2019.
The car has a system to warn the driver to brake due to an oncoming vehicle.the system shows brake in large orange letters on the instrument panel.this system malfunctions.if the car is in motion, going around a gradual turn to the right, typically on a two-lane road, it often warns of oncoming traffic in the other lane by shouting brake in the orange letters. The oncoming traffic is never in fact a danger. That traffic is simply making a gradual left turn in its own lane. By contrast, today (due to utility work) there was traffic coming directly at me on a two-lane road while i was in motion in my own lane--and the car said nothing.in my opinion, this so-called warning system is defective and unreliable.i asked our dealer about it but they said there was nothing they could do. (this problem of the brake warning has occurred many times, it is by no means confined to today's date.)
Fuel cap not closing properly, safety issue may arise.many customers may have similar problem
We recently purchased the new 2019 honda odessey and then found out that there is no way to manually move the transmission into neutral (or any position other than park) if the engine or battery dies. This is a huge safety issue. The local honda dealership said that honda was aware of the issue and working on a fix, but recommended if we needed to get towed to put dish soap under the tires to be dragged onto the tow truck. Meanwhile though, while waiting for a tow, the broken down car could potentially be in the middle of the road with no flashers if the battery is dead and no way for police or anyone else to put the car in neutral and roll it to safety on the side of the road. I filed a complaint with honda, and they said they have received multiple complaints about this, but they are not working on a fix and it is 'just how the car is designed'. They said that they 'think' there is a special tool that only their aaa roadside assistants have that might be able to manually override, but the local dealership was not aware of any such tool, and any other tow truck drivers would not have this supposed tool. Given that this is a safety issue, i found that answer unacceptable and am hoping your regulatory agency can intervene to prompt action to fix this issue. The old 2018 model and others always had a manual override option, and the 2019 version needs to have that same option for safety, in case of emergency.
As i was driving i all of sudden heard a loud bang and the sunroof/moon roof whatever it is called exploded , glass had shattered for no reason at all.i was less than 2 miles from my house when it happened, i pulled over saw the glass was broken, then came home, tried to cover with plastic as rain was coming, then i took it to the local honda dealer as our weather forecast calls for rain , they said it is probably not covered under warranty- but it has to be as sunroofs should not explode while driving
Stationary vehicle lurched forward by itself when remote started twice now, first time 8"-12", second time lurched 4". Last lurch was caught on video. Unable to reproduce the issue, but continuously recording every remote start. Local honda service manager insists this is a "characteristic of this vehicle." while reporting to honda corporate, the representative stated they did not have this issue in their records.
Power sliding door on the right has failed to close. It will close almost all the way and the re-open back up. It has to be closed manually. The problem has been reported and fixed altogether 4 times but the problem has never been resolved. The service dates were 1) jan 15, 2020 2)july 7, 2020 3) may 13, 2021 and 4) july 21, 2021.it would work once or twice after fixing and go back to the malfunction stage. We need to use the car and are not able to take it back every time it happens. The services were conducted at ourisman honda, 4800 bethesda ave., bethesda, md 20814 tel. 301-656-1000.
We bought a new honda odyssey van on nov 4th 2019.it had less than 700 miles and is now destroyed due to an engine fire.my wife [xxx]was driving to work, when she parked at work she noticed smoke coming from the engine area. She got out and called 911, but within minutes the engine area bust in flames and soon the entire front end was on fire. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The screen on my vehicle goes black and shows "network communication lost" at random. The speakers start making a crackling and static sound at random as well. The system will reboot over and over. You cannot use the rearview backup camera during this rebooting and turning the vehicle on and off does not make it start working again.
Safety feature defect...infotainment fails which causes no backup camera when you back up
Was driving on a rural highway at about 55mph on a sunny mild day when my sunroof exploded. No other cars, trees or overpasses present. The sunroof exploded outward like it had been shot from inside the car. Sounded like a huge explosion. We had 7 people in my van including 5 children. Luckily the screen was shut or glass would've rained down on all of us. Was so startling we could've easily lost control of the car as well but luckily we didn't.
In jan2020, during middle of a two hour drive with family, vehicle's electronic touch screen control panel along with steering wheel controls completely froze, disabling voice and/or touch command to access dash board, apple car play and even radio. Vehicle was on the highway driving in the range of 50-60 mph when it happened. Restarting vehicle at roadside stop did not reset the system. I noticed rear view camera quit working also, could not confirm about other electronic safety feature's working status. Vehicle's transmission seem to work fine so i drove slowly home and called dealership next day.dealership requested to bring vehicle in house to hard reset the system. Dealership also mentioned that they are seeing similar issues in this model of vehicle. I could not get a satisfactory answer if the vehicle was safe to drive (to me it was not very safe even if some/all safety features possibly were working?).after factory reset, vehicle is working fine but i am requesting manufacturer for full electrical check up.i am uncomfortable to have full family in and risk a system freeze mid drive on a highway.surprised it happened in a brand new vehicle.
Infotainment system screen becomes dead while driving. Since then, it does not come back even after restarting a car.
The infotainment system started shutting down and crackling started in the speakers when the car was 3 weeks old. The bluetooth option and apple car play are completely unusable due to the crackling. They stop working approximately 30 seconds into use. No sound. The entire system will shut down randomly, stating no network communication and radio unavailable beforehand. The dealership has refused to replace any parts, including the radio harnesses, which are the main suspects for the crackling. Crackling sound worsens during turns.
Van has shut off while being driven, transmission jumps constantly at 24 mph, radio goes in and out constantly- have no audio 90% of the time, navigation rarely works, car play rarely works, bluetooth drops phone connection consistently, have had rear camera freeze multiple times
The vehicle automatically throttles with the speed going down and back to normal

While in motion on the highway the speedometer and center infotainment system crashed, went black, and began to restart shortly after.while rebooting the car shifted into neutral and there was no warning of the gear changing.the car was able to get off the highway, and had to be towed per the dealers recommendation for safety.
When backing up my 2019 honda odyssey the vehicle suddenly accelerated at full speed with no input from me. I crashed through a fence behind the vehicle and did significant damage to the vehicle.

Around late august or early september of 2018, we started experiencing some problems with the accelerator. One of our office workers had two accidents while parking due to the malfunction of the accelerator. The accelerator sank down subtly as if she was pressing against sort of a sponge when she steered the wheel at a certain angle. As a result, the car crashed against the wall and we had no choice but to repair the bumper. Originally, we thought the parking accident was due to lack of driving experience of our office worker and paid the full repair cost ourselves. However, a senior executive at my company with 27 years of accident-free driving experiences also claimed multiple times to have experienced the same sponge-like sinking in the accelerator while driving the car.
Automatic rain sensing wipers equipped with certain models does not function properly tampering visibility in rain/snow. It functions irradicably, wiping too fast when there is very little rain or conversely, not wiping enough when there's a downpour. Adjusting sensitivity levels knob did not affect anything.
In multiple vehicles after contacting the dealer and looking at two vehicles it appears as though the rear glass has not been manufactured correctly as there are obscurities in the glass and those obscurities create a blurry patch to the right and the left of center at the edges of the glass. If you can see it's faintly like a corduroy effect in between the layers of glass. A manager at from sunset honda in san luis obispo has seen the defects noticed it and other vehicles but declined to do anything since it was the same in two vehicles. I stated that that doesn't prohibited from being a defect in the manufacturing he agreed that there was blurry vision and that he could see the lines that i'm speaking of.

Driver side mirror shakes a lot when driving to the point that is very difficult to focus when you trying to look back when changing lanes or just as spot check.

The contact owns a 2019 honda odyssey. The contact stated that the windshield was cracked twice within the last two weeks. The dealer (honda superstore of lisle, 4475 lincoln ave, lisle, il 60532, (630) 852-7200) replaced the windshield the first time, but it was not covered under the extended warranty. The contact went to speak to the dealer upon the second windshield crack, but they would not acknowledge the possibility of defective glass or cover the windshield repair. The manufacturer was contacted and sided with the dealer. The contact was referred back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 4,500.
