Takata inflators
While driving in a parking lot going no more than 10 miles per hour, i hit a concrete block with the front left side of my car in front of the wheel. It was in a blind spot. My 9 year old daughter, who weighs 62 pounds, was sitting in the passenger seat ( which was not all the way foward.the seat was about half way back).both of our air bags deployed and only my seatbelt locked. Her airbag should not have deployed and her seatbelt should have locked.
We got hit by a dodge ram truck with a trailer on the left side (driver side) at an intersection ("t"). We were crossing the intersection northbound when the truck crossing the same intersection northeast bound ( turning left at intersection) directly hit the left side of our van pushing the driver side door in and crushing the driver side glasswindow. Despite the impact, side air bags failed to deploy.
Dtc b0020-13 drivers side srs inflator failurevehicle onboard computer showed above code both while stationary and driving.this is a major driver safety issue.estimated repair $1,100.
The vehicle had a full frontal impact , the impact was all the way to the engine but none of the airbags were deployed , my front passenger head was hit against the mirror/visor i am really concerned about the safety of this vehicle . Called american honda about the incident and they have asked me to read the srs airbags manual on why they haven't deployed.
Our son was driving the car when the side airbag deployed.he was not in a car accident nor did he hit anything.there is absolutely no damage to the outside of our 2014 honda minivan.thankfully, our son kept calm, pulled the car over and called us.now honda says it's an insurance problem and will not pay to freelance the airbag and our insurance company says it's a mechanical problem and honda should pay.
The vehicle started flashing a "camera is hot" and the lane warning and collision warning light case onthe dashboard and flashed several times and now it appears the camera for the lane change is not working and no sound is made or warning light.have was purchased yesterday and this happened within less than 24 hours.according to blogs on internet they warn of the camera on the dashboard has been an issue on 2014 honda odyssey.
My insurance company bought this honda odyssey ex 2014 van for me to be modified for handicapped equipment as a replacement. It chose and delivered the van to: better life mobility centers of riverside 7239 indiana ave., riverside ca 92504 9516863152, who then disabled my steering column adjustment controls resulting in defective turn signals, horn, lights etc. No notice was given to me of such disabling of these safety equipment and they simply left the control for the "tilt & telescopic steering column" in a plastic bag on the console. Honda cars of corona (888) 568-0582 informed me that no warranty or servicing or diagnosing of this car would be made by honda because it had been modified for handicapped driving which voided all warranty of any shape or form. It appears that "better life mobility" has not complied with federal regulations in the disabling of my steering column, turn signals, etc. Please investigate this business and their conduct. The total cost of this van was $34,547.53 before modifications and now is unsafe to drive until diagnostic and repair of the steering column , turn signals and related safety equipment. I have driven with hand controls for over 24 years, and have never encountered anything like this..
Bought van and only had it a few months before the keyless start, would not start. Attempted for a whole minute, then finally the keyless start worked. I took it to the shop and they could not find any problems with it, basically they told me perhaps it was user error, but i am not an idiot,i made sure the brake was pressed, the gear was in park correctly, and the key was out and close enough for the car to recognize the key was in the car, however, the car doors unlocked fine with the key. Then a few weeks later, while driving there was a "no key" light on, however the key was in the car, and then a few weeks after that the dash board and radio screens were black for approx. 2 hrs, i took it to the dealership repair shop again only to be told there wasn't anything they could find wrong with my van... Unfortunately i bought the van used with only 3000miles, and i think now i know why the original owner traded it in with such low mileage.... It is a lemon!
Bought my van in march of 2014, early on it started having various electrical problems. The ac/heat blower randomly increases in power (if it was on low, it would all of a sudden start blowing full force and even the bars on the screen increases).the blinker randomly refuses to turn off even after manually turning it off. The collision detection system malfunctions at times. It randomly beeps with no vehicle in sight and at other times, when it should beep, it doesn't. The navigation/radio screens completely black out, only showing yellow lines that you normally see when backing up. During this time, the collision detection system, backup camera, radio and heating controls all do not work.the screens stay blacked out even during driving/backing up, then once the vehicle is off and restarted, things go back to normal. This has happened on several occasions randomly, and vary in how long it malfunctions for. I was able to take some pictures and captured video to show it malfunctioning. Honda dealer initially thought that it was user error. They thought that i had accidentally turned on the lane watch camera, but once i showed them the video, the mechanic stated to me that honda was aware of this problem from it happening to other vehicles. They were supposed to replace the navigation system. However, i question whether they actually replaced the part. All of our original settings were still programmed including voice dialing. Further research led us to find out that the system had the vin # stored in its internal memory, which proves that its the original part from when the vehicle was manufactured. I also find out that they were previously sued by the state of nj for consumer fraud. I have had to audio record conversations and take pictures as proof of the problems my vehicle has because all they want to say is no code, no problem, we can't duplicate or its normal.
My auto doors often malfunction where ther don't respond to unlocking or opening. I have to physically force the lock up while pulling the handle to open it when it has.i have searched this issue and there is no recall but there are plenty of complaints. This is a very dangerous situation to be in if my vehicle was involved in a wreck and we can't get the doors open. I have video of this.
2014 honda odyssey, purchased brand new in 2014 and always garage kept, randomly opens all of the windows and sunroom. I know if the remote unlock button is held down, all of the windows and sunroom will open, but this is not the case. It has happened multiple times with no one touching the button. This has happened about 30 times now, i go out to my van and everything is opened up. It has happened at least four times now while the vehicle was outside in the rain causing water to enter the vehicle. This is very unsafe.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle decelerated to approximately 20 mph and would not accelerate. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal with no results. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a sensor replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred on several occasions. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
I own a 2014 honda odysey, and the driver door sometimes comeopen by itself when i am driving. Other times i cannot get in tothe vehicle, because i cannot unlock the doors to get into thevehicle, not even using the regular key. When i parked my vehicle, and if by any chance i am able to lock the vehicle doors, then afew minutes later the driver door come open (not unlock) byitself. I cannot leave anything inside the vehicle, becauseanyone can just get in. Yesterday, 20 march 2017, after i parkedmy vehicle i was trying to get out and i could not, because icould not unlock the driver door. A very scary feeling. Ihad to jump to the back of the vehicle and got out openingthe back door. The remote/switch sometimes will lock andunlock all the doors, and the hatch, but will not the driverside door. The other doors after i start the car and startdriving would not lock automatic like it should.
I was driving 70mph on an interstate.the battery light came on.there was no immediate change in vehicle performance and there were no odors present so i continued driving for several minutes towards the next exit.about .5mi away from the exit, the abs, fcw, ldw, and brake lights came on, the air conditioner and console turned off, and the automatic transmission disengaged.this prevented the vehicle from being able to accelerate.the entire vehicle essentially lost power. The local dealer diagnosed the issue as an oil leak in the spool valve that then destroyed the alternator and fried the battery.the manufacturer (honda) recenty issued tsb 20-023 detailing the problem and repair procedure, but it was limited to the source of the leak, not any of the other components that were damaged.my understanding of the incident leads me to believe a fire could have broken out due to the location of the leak onto the other engine components.
Had been driving brand new 2014 odyssey with 700 miles on it without incident. Parked car at the grocery store. Returned 20 minutes later and was unable to start the vehicle let alone turn on accessories. Dealership came and could not determine the problem, but was able to jump start the vehicle.immediately brought it into the dealership where they ran diagnostics and indicated that the factory installed battery was defective and was no longer able to hold a charge. They were not able to explain the sudden failure of the battery or why the vehicle did not indicate any problems with the battery. A new battery was installed and att 500 miles later the vehicle has not had the same problem.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light flashed constantly. In addition, the rpms decreased, there was a loud noise coming from the vehicle, and there was a drastic reduction of speed. The vehicle was also shaking and vibrating, which caused the contact to be unable to control the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on two occasions where the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,774. Ma 10/5
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated that the bluetooth failed to operate properly in the vehicle. The contact stated that his iphone 6 mobile phone would no longer stay connected with the bluetooth system in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (millennium honda, 286 n franklin st, hempstead, ny 11550) where it was determined that the iphone 6 was not compatible with the honda bluetooth system. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000.

My new 2014 odyssey had problem after 3 days with05/12/2014ldw / fcw / engine light came on and this is the second time that had happened. First time took it to the nearest dealer, they reprogrammed the system but it didn't help. 06/10/2014 second time happen and was told that fcw / some kind of led system was never connected and syn with the car. Let's see how it going tomorrow.i also had a accident when these issue occurred. It's very unsafe when this problem occur.
Car sustained $8700.00 worth of damage to nose of car. Airbag failed to deploy. Wife sustained fractured rib.
While my son was reaching for seatbelt his arm/wrist got stuck in door as it was closing. Door would not move and just sandwiched his wrist. Whether car was in drive or park door would not open or close. Finally we got his wrist out and door closed.
At different times since the purchase of the vehicle in august 2013 the audio system is completely lost.after 1 1/2 years of discussing this with the service department of the local honda dealership i was finally informed that honda has an issue with the audio system and paring to the iphones.i since have deleted my phone from the system and no longer leave the blue tooth on but still lose the entire audio system from time to time.the car must be turned off and restarted.also at times the front collision warning will go off when you have no one around you.i believe it is all tied together.although this is not a safety issue i feel i have no where else to turn.after contact american honda and being assigned a case manager all she could tell me was to get a different cell phone.i have been told they are waiting for updates but find it impossible that it takes this long to have an update built.i know i am not the only customer with this issue and find it very frustrating that i have been for the extras that i can't even use. Updated 9/21/15*ln.....updated 10/01/15
When the vehicle is turned on, the computer(s) malfunctions -- scope of failure is not known; symptom is that center display screen on dash (referred to as "intelligent multi-information display", or "i-mid", in manuals) is blacked out, except that it shows yellow gridlines as if rear camera were on, however rear camera is disabled and all other functions that would be visible on the center display screen (including safety features such as rearview camera, "lanewatch"/side-view camera, as well as all vehicle settings, system settings, camera settings, audio settings, etc.) are inoperative. Screen remains blacked out with affected systems inoperative for the duration that the car remains on, regardless of whether car is in park, drive, reverse, etc., and whether car is moving or stopped. If the car is turned off and then on again, so far it has returned to normal -- however it would not be possible to do this while driving. This has happened repeatedly --approximately 10 times to date.
The fuses keep having to be replaced because when it transitions from eco to regular the car stutters and the engine light comes on and starts blinking. I then have to turn off the car and restart it. The car only goes up to like 20mph the slowly increases then decreases again the light comes back on. This began happening about 6 months ago but maybe a little bit beforehand...not exactly sure of the exact date. The first time it happened i was driving to work.
Bought vehicle in march 2014. We have had numerous problems with our power sliding doors. At times they won't open all the way, sometimes wont close all the way. Sometimes they won't respond at all whether you try to open or close them. Sometimes they do not unlock and it takes multiple times of trying before they finally will. I have pictures proving these malfunctions. The dealer says they can't find anything wrong.i also have problems with the back hatch malfunctioning. It hops/jerks and makes grinding noises. Sometimes it hops/jerks so much that it actually shakes the whole vehicle. Also sometimes the power button does not always work when trying to open it. Mechanic was able to duplicate problem, but the service director insists that it is normal. Initially they did not want to fix it,, but after being persistent with them about this issue, they replaced the rubber gasket around the door to see if that would fix the problem. To date it has not fixed the problem, it has actually gotten worse. I also had a problem with the driverside sliding door making a loud screeching sound when i unlocked it from inside the vehicle. The mechanic took the door apart and greased it and so far this has helped.i also have problems with the doors not responding to the key fob. Sometimes it takes multiple attempts to get it to respond properly.there also seems to be alot of wind noise and you can feel the drafts. The driver window also vibrates while going up/down.i don't know if my vehicle is a lemon or not, but it sure does have a lot of problems with the transmission, electrical, the doors. Etc. I have filed several complaints that describes them all. I originally had a 2010 odyssey and it had less problems than this one.
My door came ajar while driving down the road!!! when the dash temperature reads above 96 degrees, the electronics of the rear-sliding doors will not operate. This has occurred since the van was 3.5 month old. The local service dept cannot recreate the issue, and no error code displays on the dash. My baby has been trapped in the backseat, because i cannot open the door. During the hot temps, the door will not open manually. The doors are completely stuck! once i drive around and the van cools, the electronics/sliding doors operate just fine. This is a huge safety concern. This occurs when the van is parked, because being stationary in the sun allows it to get hotter. Even with it's only 93 outside, the dash may read 101 after sitting in the parking lot for a few hours. Last week, i tried to open it around 3pm. It would not budge. The dash showed all doors closed when i pulled out of the parking lot. Five minutes later, as i was driving down the interstate, at 65 mph, the door came ajar! i had to pull over and close it. I have read many blogs with other odyssey owners having the same issue. I have a recent video of the issue, but this site does not allow that formatting.
I went to dinner with my husband on a friday night, and when we returned to our van, the doors unlocked we got into the van and the keyless start would not work.we tried for 3-5 minutes, no luck, this happened a few months ago, we again did everything to ensure it was not user error (in which the dealership blamed when they said nothing was wrong with the van the previous time). Brake was pressed, key was out, gear in park....i had to get in and out of the van a few times before the keyless start finally allowed us to start the van...i took it to the dealership repair shop again, and was insistent they fix the keyless start, but they were sooo rude and inappropriate, there was no "error code" and therefore "honda would not allow them just to replace parts", and the honda customer service was just as rude!!!!i am no longer a fan of honda... This is my first and last honda!
I stopped the vehicle on an inclined street to talk with a neighbor. He asked me to look at something so, i turned the ignition off not thinking the gearshift was still in the drive position. After the engine stopped i started to exit the car when it began to roll. I applied the brakes then restarted the car and shifted into park. This is a safety issue requiring a recall before somebody gets injured or killed.
In march of this year, began new lease for 3rd honda odyssey after having two previous and loving them. On may 23rd, my van had no sound of left (driver's) side upon starting my vehicle. Problem resolved itself and has not recurred. Two days later, however, turn signals began malfunctioning with continuous blinking after being turned off. Van was looked at dealership to no avail, as problems did not reoccur for them. On vacation, i was stranded with a broken fuel door and driver's side passenger door that was temp fixed by dealership there. On way home from vacation, cruise control intermittently did not respond correctly when in use in both the set and resume functions. Upon returning home, dealership fixed fuel and passenger doors, had van for a week to address issues that are more electrical/computer-related in nature, but could not replicate, nor isolate problems. Van returned to me with bluetooth connectivity issues. Turn signals and cruise control continue to malfunction, and driver's side passenger sliding door occasionally will not open all the way.
(1)paint peeling(2)brakes inferior and don't stop correctly(3)driver back door and hatch open randomly without anyone opening them(4)large clunking noise and jerking when first starting to take off(5)rear camera may take up to 5 minutes to engage(6)error message pops up on screen saying "cannot import call history"(7)back passenger cup holder fell out

This is the second incident i have had where the engine began racing as i was applying the brake.as i was slowing to park the car at work when i felt the car surge as i was applying the brake.i pushed hard on the brake and found the car racing at 2000 rpm.i was able to fumble for my cell phone and get a short video of the racing engine.as i was filming i moved my foot slightly on the brake and car came out of the racing condition and settled to a normal idle.i took the vehicle into the dealer the next day and again they said they could not find any issues.they implied that they wanted their regional person to evaluate the car but i have not been contacted since taking the vehicle in.
From a stop or yield, upon acceleration van jerked.it did this several times all the way back to the dealership.technicians could not get the van to duplicate this action, so they could do nothing.
While driving in the bar harbor, me area, our odyssey was bucking violently at lower speeds/gears.it happened several times and each time it was when we were speeding up from a stop at a light/signal.it happened in lower gears (1st and 2nd) all on the same date.i called a dealer in the local area and was going to take it in the next day but could not replicate the problem.i brought up the issue with our dealer in virginia and they stated that they hadn't heard of any such issues. Well, after finding this forum, i am glad to know i didn't imagine all of this!
I was pulling into a drive through on december 6, 2020. As i applied the brake (i drive with one foot - my right foot) with my right foot, the engine revved up and the van moved about 5 feet forward as i increased the brake pedal pressure. I then shifted into neutral. The engine went to red line. I pushed the power button. No one was injured, and the vehicle didn't touch anything as the drivethrough ahead of me was empty. The day before, the ldw and fcw fail light came on in the dashboard while my wife was driving. We have taken the van to the local honda dealership for a checkout / diagnostics of what happened. Honda has opened a case on this for us: case is 11754879. No pictures or video available, unfortunately, although i am checking with fadi's at 12360 westheimer road 77077.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. While driving 65 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle started to lose speed. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and then driven to waldorf honda (2450 crain hwy, waldorf, 20301). The dealer stated that the engine failed and needed replacement. Initially, the dealer stated that the repair would be covered, but later stated that it was not covered under the class action lawsuit. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Check emission message on dashboard with the check engine light on. On checking the codes via obd - it shows p3400 bank 1 valve stuck error code pointing to a faulty oil pressure switch.i check the engine oil level using the dipstick which shows the oil levels are within the limits on the stick.the dashboard message (check engine light + check emissions msg) suddenly appeared while driving on a warm afternoon at 45mph (about 15 minutes into the ride).
Bought 2014??? honda odyssey delivered september 01,2 013,jan 18,2018 replaced 1coil. April 27,2018 37000 miles replaced3 fouled spark plugs,1coil dec. 27, 2018 40576 miles missfire, replaced 6 spark plugs. May 1, 2019 42364 miles replaced 4 fouled spark plugs.,3 cylinder piston rings.dealer was going to charge me but changed their mind and charged m $84 for shop supplies, and no loaner. We rented a car. I think this car is a lemon.vcm engine (stupid technology)
I've noticed on cold nights/days (temps below 40 degrees). The engine temp is slightly lower than normal. The vehicle at a complete stop (at stop lights) then go that while i accelerate it stalls, the gas pedal would go down but would not accelerate then after a few seconds would jerk into speed. I've had 4 other honda's and this is the first one that has done this.
1. I bought a 2014 honda odyssey around new year with keyless ignition.2. With this car i can turn off the engine with the car still in drive or reverse. Then i can open the doors and walk away. As is the norm, nothing obliges me to apply the emergency brake. The car can begin to roll, endangering occupants, pedestrians and other cars.3. This is a bad accident waiting to happen. I've already rolled twice after turning the ignition off and my boys opening the side doors.4. Every car i've ever driven for 40+ years, it was impossible to remove the key from the ignition without first shifting to park.5. I've owned new hondas for 20+ years. From time to time i would get recall notices about cars rolling when they shouldn't. The situation never applied to me but i understand this is a serious safety issue - worthy of a general recall.
Ecm is running roughly
As i was coming to a stop light i took my foot off the accelerator and began applying the brake.as i was applying the brake the car felt like it was surging so i pressed harder on the brake.at this point the engine was racing at full speed erratically.i put the car in park and shut off the engine.i restarted the car and everything was normal.i took the car in the next day to the dealer.while i was there another customer overheard me talking to the dealer and he stated his mother's 2013 honda odyssey had a similar experience where the engine started racing while stopping.the dealer could not find any issues with the car and performed all dtcs checks.i told the dealer that on two or three previous occasions i felt the car surge while braking but in these instances the engine did not stay racing.this incident was very upsetting as the car could have taken off on its own if i took my foot off the brake.

The engine light comes up and engine is buring oil. Dealership checked after 500 miles and said it is burning oil. Told me to keep checking oil level and if low top it off till the next light comes up so that they can get diagnostoc code. Does not make sense. This is a new van and purchased new and 2 years back and now has only 31000 miles.
The transmission is not smooth at all.rough and delayed shifts.my car minivan only has 35,000 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated while driving and the engine warning indicator illuminated, which meant that the fcw and ldw systems failed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and who diagnosed that the spark plug needed to be replaced and the cylinder was leaking oil, which caused the spark plug failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred on three different occasions. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The contact stated that the mechanic called the dealer and was informed that the 2013 models were experiencing the same failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that there was no recall and that the vehicle was out of warranty. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 216,000.
(2014 honda odyssey ex-l). On fri, 02-21-2020, 3:47pm, i was slowing to stop at intersection. Before coming to complete stop, engine began to shudder, but did not completely stall/stop, and the mil indicator illuminated. Engine continued to shudder while idling at complete stop. I gently applied acceleration to 10-mph. Engine continued to shudder as i continued and stopped at another traffic light. Again i gently applied acceleration. The engine continued to shudder until i found a safe place to park and switched it off. The engine shuddered at a consistent level for a total of about 8-minutes. I called my local honda service dept to ask about possible causes and if the vehicle was safe to drive. The service rep asked me about a previous repair noted on his computer for an issue the van had regarding the replacement of an oil sensor in october 2019, and if it was related. I told him i didn't know. Since he couldn't identify the problem, he advised me not to start the engine and drive because it could possibly cause more damage, and the vehicle was not safe to drive. Then i called roadside assistance and my van was taken to my honda service dept. On the following monday, a service rep called me with the diagnosis code p0303, which he said indicates that a misfire was detected in the #3 cylinder. The rep said that this issue allowed oil to pass by the multiple oil rings on the piston into the chamber and fouled the spark plug. He told me that this issue was not covered by the warranty. The service rep quoted $4,420.00 to repair obdii code p0303. I asked him if the malfunction could have been prevented. The service rep said that this problem is not a result of any driver action or lack of maintenance. He said that honda is aware of this problem and i should call american honda automobiles (800-999-1009).

Driving on the highway, check engine light started flashing and car begin misfiring. Had to drive very slow because of the safety issues related to misfire for a few miles to get the car off the highway. Got car to repair ship and they replaced all spark plugs because they were in bad shape and one no longer worked. The car ran fine after that. 4 months later while on highway same misfire happened. I took car to honda dealership and said the o-rings need replaced. They tried to get honda to pay for repairs because they said it's the same issue that led to a class action lawsuit for 2011-2013 honda odysseys. In that case the "piston rings in certain cylinders may rotate and align, leading to engine oil consumption and spark plug fouling." honda of america said they would not pay to fix my vehicle even though its the same issue.

I was slowing down to perform three-point turn to park in garage.slowly (<5mph) approaching end of first arc, i pressed the brakes to stop.it was snowing and slippery, and there was a slight skid of vehicle.i pressed harder on brakes to stop, which resulted in revving of the engine and crash of vehicle into wall/garage support.i looked down to confirm my foot was only contacting the brake pedal.i placed the vehicle in park to comprehend what had just occurred.i placed the vehicle in reverse to complete 2nd arc of three-point turn, and completed parking in the garage.
P0303 misfire burning oil causing oil loss and misfire on cylinder 1-3
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. While driving, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the spark plugs were changed. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic where the number one spark plug was covered with oil and changed, the oil was refilled to the proper level, and another spark plug was replaced. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to scott honda of west chester (706 autopark blvd, west chester, pa 19382) where the contact was informed that it would cost over $3,000 to replace the piston rings and clean the pistons. There was an extended warranty that covered earlier models, but the manufacturer stated that the contact's vehicle was not included. The failure mileage was 103,000.
2014 honda odyssey which is experience the same issue as the 2013 honda odyssey where piston ring 1 -4 with leak oil and foul the spark plugs.when this occurs the engine misfires and vibrates significantly and reduces drivability.due to the warranty extension on prior years this appears to be a known design defect for this model and engine but not for this model year.when the issue has manifested it has been when driving both times has been on a city street.estimates for repair are $4,200.
I was in traffic and driving a steady 50 mph when the engine suddenly shutdown. After i realized what the situation was i placed the transmission into neutral, steered the car off the road as soon as it was safe to do and stopped. I just had the engine oil and filter replaced when this event happened 3.7 miles from the repair shop. I suspected a problem with the oil change.after stopping i checked for oil under engine (none) and then checked the dipstick (full). I had the van towed to the shop where their personnel checked under the engine for an oil leak and then checked the dipstick as i had done. They told me to take the van to honda.it?s been a week and honda said i need new heads for the engine because the timing ?jumped?. The oil change had no effect on this failure. So far, nobody at honda can tell me what actually caused the timing to ?jump?. The total repair is being done by honda and is covered by the honda's new car warranty.i've never had any kind of problems with this van prior to this unexpected and sudden failure.
We bought odyssey couple of months back in austin .currently we are experiencing 3 major issues.1. Excessive wind noise even with lower speed 30 or higher speed 60..impact: headache inside the car. Unable to enjoy with family inside the car.2.brakes are weak i feels like we need to stand on the brakes to apply them3. From a stop sign if we hit the gas feels like a jerky..
My complaint has to do with low tire pressure indicator and tire pressure (tpms) monitor. The experience we have since the vehicle was purchased is that if the former light appears and you replace the affected tire with a spare tire, the latter light (tpms) will appear it will disable the part. Once the spare is replace with a new tire, the former light comes back and stays on until the part is replaced. It has happened to us twice. Honda warranty does not cover the part or labor to replace it.
The low beam headlights distance is limited by a horizontal blackness. This is not enough distance to drive safely. Low beam headlight55w (h11halagon type, same bulb used for fog lights on these vehicles. .according to triple a these are not safe over 35 mph on a unlit highway.i find the headlight to be very annoying and unsafe by limiting the distance viewed on the road ahead.
Headlights work very poorly. - difficult to see the road when driving at night.when driving at night, it is difficult to see the road when using the low beams.high beams help, but switching back and forth when in traffic is not a safe, or legal, option.the low beam pattern appears to be set too low, particularly on the driver side, and can not be adjusted.headlights are projector lamp style, so even replacement of bulbs do little to correct, as the primary issue seems to be a poor design.this issue has been ongoing since purchase of new vehicle.
I was driving on the highway when i heard a loud clunk. Thought i hit a bump but when i got off the highway and stopped at a light the car starting bucking between 0-30 miles per hour. It continued to do so at every start.drove it to honda dealership where they found nothing wrong with vehicle.have done research on vehicle only to find numerous other complaints of same issue. This is dangerous!if i was trying to cross an intersection and it started bucking, i might not make it out of intersection on time.please investigate this issue as honda is saying nothing is wrong with their cars.
After getting a car wash from an automated car wash, while driving to a parking stall to vacuum the interior of the vehicle. In the process of turning left into the parking stall and braking to park the vehicle, the engine suddenly rev'd, accelerating the vehicle over a parking curb block and into a pole at the car wash.the resulting collision happened across the span of half a parking space and knocked the vehicle backwards a couple feet after colliding with the pole. The collision triggered both front air bags and resulted in a total loss of the vehicle and property damage of the car wash.
Rpms race while van is in idle an takes off with a jump in transmission.clanking noise metal on metal in rear brakes, downshifts at lower speeds when trying to accelerate above 35 mph, slowing to make a turn and transmission jumps feels like being rear ended, parking brake doesn't engage at times, on flat when putting into park transmission clunks and vehicle has a definite movement like something falling out or on vehicle, looses power at 65 mph no matter how much the gas pedal is floored then suddenly jumps into high speed thrusting van forward, transmission jumps severely when parked on a graded slope and make metal clanking sound.dealer says there are no issues and this is all normal. This is a direct safety issue for me and i am worried that something might happen causing an accident.at one point some adjustments to sensors were performed but did not correct issue. Brake issue discovered and attempt was made to correct twice. Told this is normal.also a loud electronic computer sounding like an ancient reboot of an old computer is greatly noticeable when the problems act up.told this is normal an no problems by the dealer.i feel i am being ignored and treated like a stupid person each time i call.service manager actually stated that his hands are tied and took to next level of district service manager who stated this is normal.i beg to differ.the district service manager did not speak with me at all.what game is honda playing.safety issues and performance of vehicle are being ignored. Rearview camera is acting up as well as electric door locks and sliding doors are slow to respond while closing.worried about safety while driving.
When driving between 20-30mph, my vehicle convulses during a gear shift, every time i switch from 2nd to 3rd gear. Current vehicle service bulletin exists. 17-044 and 17-043 issued on 2-28-2018. No warranty offered after 60,000 miles. I'm currently at 67, 700. No assistance being offered by honda or authorized dealer. If service bulletin does not good the issue, honda recommends transmission replacement!! as a consumer, i feel this is a safety concern with such low mileage and feel honda is responsible for the repairs, not the consumer. To issue a tsv means they know this is a known issue in multiple vehicles.
As i try to accelerate from a low speed, for example entering an intersection or a highway, the transmission slips and bangs into gear, causing the van to hesitate before it moves, it is a violent feeling, almost like being rear ended from another vehicle. I have brought it to the dealer numerous times and had the technician experience what i was talking about verifying something is wrong. Then when i go to pick it up after its been fixed, i am told by the manager that it is normal because no codes came up.
On several previous occasions and on this date in particular experienced a serious jerk that appeared to be transmission related when starting back from a low mile per hour slow down.after the jerking between gears it seemed to operate more smoothly the next time.this intermittent problem is concerning as the vehicle has less than 15,000 mile but the warranty is almost half over in months.am considering pursuit of a "lemon" law claim for this and other more minor issues.we told the dealer of the incidents and they said that the next time it happens we need to go to a honda dealer immediately and not turn off the engine to see if the error is recorded in the on board diagnostic system.not a very convenient fix.
My 2014 odyssey have the transmission clunk.when slowing down to under 20-30km/h then lifting off the brake then applying the gas the transmission clunks/shudders loudly and you feel it.i can reproduce this 95% of the time.i will be taking this into the dealer and will update. But seeing that there are numerous people complaining of this exact thing honda needs to issue a recall.
I was driving my odessey home from work in average rush hour traffic. 30 minutes after leaving work, i came to a stop at a stop light. When i accelerated upon the light turning green my van shuddered/jerked when shifting gears between 15 & 20 mph. I thought it might have been a fluke or bump in the road. Then i came to another stop at a second stop light, not five minutes later, and again when accelerating it repeated the shudder/jerk upon shifting between 15-20mph. I then continued another 20-30 minutes home and the issue repeated every time i had to slow my speed below 20mph it shuddered/jerked upon accelerating. I made it home, did not turn off the van, my husband got in and drove it to a local shop about 5min down the road and experienced rough shifting from park into drive and the continued issue of rough shifting between 15-20mph. At our arrival to the shop he turned off the vehicle for about 5 minutes and then restarted it and we returned home. On this return trip and the next day on my commute to work there are no further issues of rough shifting or jerking when switching gears. But nothing was done to cause this to start and other than turning off the van and restarting it, nothing was done to remedy it either. I did not take it to a service center, because the issue can not be replicated at this time.
We came to a stop at a light and as we started moving when light was green in slow speed something made a big clunk and each time we came to a stop and pressed on gas pedal to proceed then clunk and jerkbecame louder and more intense. We pulled over turned van off started it again and it quit. We have it in the honda dealer now and they can't find anything. They did add transmission fluid. Keeping over night per our choic out of two (or pick up and take home), to see if it does same thing in the morning. It's very scary we don't really trust it on trips. So disappointed. Please help us! there is on youtube the very same thing happening to ours in same make and year van. Https://youtu.be/4d2ljtbuaks. Seems as though when it goes to shift into second thats when it clunk and jerks.

The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated that while shifting from park to reverse or drive, the vehicle intermittently rolled without the brake pedal being depressed.the contact had to depress the brake pedal numerous times to prevent the vehicle from rolling. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified.the approximate failure mileage was 4,000.updated 8/14/14the consumer stated the engine would shut off when the vehicle was in reverse or drive. When on a hill the vehicle would roll requiring brake action. The dealer advised the failure may be normal. Updated 09/3/2014
Driving approx 25mph through town when engine rpms increased a bit as it briefly slipped out of gear, then it caught itself and abruptly went into approx 5th gear (6 speed transmission).from there vehicle was only using 2 gears (~2nd and 5th) and every time it up shifted into 5th (from a stoplight, etc.) it was very abrupt, and made a loud clunk noise - it was so hard it felt like the powertrain was going to be ripped off the engine mounts and out of the engine compartment (seriously).immediately limped vehicle to closest dealer.dealer replicated event and determined transmission fluid was overfilled (approx half a quart). This was an issue from the factory and manufacturing process.the selling dealer did not cover/discover this overfill as part of the vehicle sell checklist process (if i were them, not sure i would have noticed a half-quart either).apparently a half quart makes a big difference in the internal pressure of the transmission which caused this issue.if this would have happened on the highway or otherwise it could have been worse or caused an accident.it was bad enough limping through town.dealer removed excess fluid and appears to be operating fine (although i now question the longevity of the transmission after this incident).this was obviously an issue during assembly and i am sure i am not the only one that may have been affected.i only assuming that a robot was inadvertently overfilling the fluid on a bunch of transmissions along the way.can provide vin as necessary.
A few years ago, the honda odyssey 2014 was making shifting noises at certain speeds.honda said it was a software problem and upgraded the software and services the transmission fluid for free.however, within the last year or two (about 85,000-125,000) it sounded like an engine break when coasting down from speed (like the engine was shifting down and slowing the car).today (april 17, 2020) it began to buck on the highway and then shifted with more bucking when starting back up from a stop.seems like transmission is functioning improperly
We have a pearl white odyssey. The paint has peeled off 2 times, and we are told it is not covered! i have seen and heard of issues with this same paint on other honda vehicles. Honda knows there is an issue with the paint on these vehicles! they should fix this instead of the customer, since they are aware of the issue since the beginning of manufacture of the vehicles that have this paint on them! now we have a car that we want to keep for a while but we need to keep spending funds to keep it looking nice, when honda should be covering a known flaw. Also, the transmission has constant hesitation when doing regular driving. It like it cant find a gear.
Car jerks violently during mild acceleration, when the transmission shifts between first and second speeds.this can occur right after startup or can start after the car has been running and the car slows down to first gear.it continues until the ignition is turned off.the problem dissappears when ignition is turned off.it occurs very randomly, i.e., intervals of weeks or even months.it is almost impossible to have it occur at the dealer service dept., and it does not give a computer code.the dealer checked the transmission and could not find the cause.
My 2014 honda odyssey does not shift properly most notably when the weather is very cold below 30 degrees and first thing in the am. Driving down the street it's as if i'm stuck in first gear and then suddenly the car shifts and it sounds horrible as if the transmission clunks very loud & then the car jerks forward from the car shifting. This started happening when my car was very new within the first 1-2 years. I have had it into the dealership a few times because of this problem and they can never seem to get it to 'throw a code' for them. I even left it there overnight so that they could drive the car cold in the morning and it didn't happen for them. It is very random when it will happen?after reading many honda odyssey online chats everyone says it's the computer and you have to shut the car off and restart it to reset the computer. This has seemed to work and stops the jerky shifting for the time being. So now when my car starts jerking me down the road and it sounds like the transmission is about to fall out i have to pull over somewhere safe and turn the car off for a minute and restart it. I thought for sure there would be a recall by now but i guess i should have reported it earlier. To sum it up there is a problem with the computerized shifting mechanism that for some reason when it's cold outside keeps the car in low gears. I have had my car regularly serviced at the honda dealershipand every time i've had my transmission fluid changed they comment on how dirty it is? i explained the problem to them and no one can solve it?
We bought a 2014 honda odessey it's started jerking when it was 7500 miles while driving in surface street in henderson, nvwe immediately took it to the dealer have it fixed they said they updated the software then started jerking again for the 2nd time when it was 2700 milesthat almost cause us into an accident while driving to los angeles. We had it towed on 11/29/15 by aaa from la to oc in our hotel because it is unsafe to drive with my kids in it.this car is dangerous because the jerks comes and go everytimewe take it to the dealer they keep saying it needs an software update they kept our car at the dealer for 2 days this time they said nothing wrong with it they updated the software again. We lived in las vegas now we are afraid to make a long trips because we feel like this car is not safe enough for my family. They can't just keep updating software on their transmission everytime the van jerks. Plus we never know when the jerks is going to start and stop especially when you are far away from home. This is not reliable and unsafe. The honda need to do something about it for the safety of the consumers.
Tl * the contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated while driving and shifting gears the vehicle made a loud noise and began to jerk. The brakes also made a screeching sound when she made a turn. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure and current mileage were 186.

Transmission exhibits jerky shifting under low speed, light acceleration conditions. Generally when going from first to second gear. Told dealership immediately before car left the lot and was told they would fix it. Called me two days later saying it was done, but car continues to do so. Service departments are a waste!
When driving between 10 and 30 mph, the car hesitated to accelerate. When pushing acceleration harder, the car started to jerk. When the car went on the slope,it made a loud clunking noise coming from the transmission. Stopped the car for several minutes and restarted again, the problem was gone. The next day i took the car to the dealer. The dealer stated that they cannot duplicate the issue and no repair was performed.
We purchaced a brand new elite (2014) our first issue the transmission bucked at low and high speeds so we took it in 2/2016. They stated that it required a frimware update.now the van vibrates between and 25-35 and also 60-65 mph also when you accelerate its now jerky and/or un-smooth with shifting. We took in to the honda dealership (8/16)to fix this new issue now the tech reports that the fluid is black. The van only has 38,000 miles....honda should issue a recall.
While my wife and daughter were returning from a short shopping trip, the transmission started to make a "clunk" noise when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.immediately upon her return home, i drove the van around the block, stopping at each intersection.the "clunk" repeated every time the transmission shifted from 1st to 2nd.i called the dealer and described to the service department what was happening, and he said that we needed to bring it in, although that was obvious to us.the question was whether or not it was safe to drive.he said that he thought that it was since it didn't make any noise in the higher gears.the next morning, i drove it to the dealer, and of course, nothing happened.they had two technicians drive it, and they could not replicate the condition.they also hooked it up to the diagnostic machine, and they said that it showed nothing.well, all i can say is that it was not "nothing", but they said they couldn't do anything further and to just bring it in if it happened again.i explained that we were about to go on a 3,000 mile trip, and it would be difficult to bring it in while on the road.even though the van is only 1 year old, and has only 6,700 miles on it, i think my wife is ready to trade it in.
Our 2014 honda odyssey has 41,000 miles on it and we have had to have new brakes three times and rotors resurfaced twice.we just had to have a bent axle replaced. The new axle was also bent so a third one had to be installed.

I purchased the 2014 odyssey in march 2014.about 2 months later, going down ramp to free way (it seems that the transmission gear slip or something) and it had a hard shake.i continued to drive on freeway at high speed for a few minutes seem fine.when i exited to check out, the shake came back at lower gear.i turned off the car and turn back on and it never happened again.however, just recently, just last week, it happened again.also, i feel that the car is keep hunting for gears .. Up shift and down shift and making the rides very rough.i am afraid that something like this will cause an accident later.i purchased this car because of good crash test result, but i don't want to buy a car to cause an accident. Please help.
Severe judder when accelerating. It leaves the driver hesitant to pass or enter the freeway. The rpm gauge and speed gauge bounce and the vehicle shakes as if you are pressing and releasing the gas peddle quickly, over and over.
All body part of this new van are loose..both side front windows while open and close or open the door seems like its broke and windows shakesrear suspension very noise on brad new van seems like driving 10 year old beat up carpassenger side inside between 2nd and 3rd row body parts are lose i have contact the honda they don't want to take care ..please let me know what should i do.its a new van under 5000 miles and having major issue.
Transmission exhibits jerky shifting under low speed, light acceleration conditions. Generally when going from first to secondgear.not performing. At all what a car of this price shouldno recall but plenty of people are complaining about this lousy transmission.
Clanking and jerking will not accelerate also was hit in dc traffic and it could not keep up. Took it in a with video and honda acted as if they didn't know what was going on.
Transmission shakes, judders about 20mph thru about 50mph. Transmission jerks and lungs.i have seen countless other complaints *all the same* this should be recalled and fixed.
We have had ongoing issues, beginning at about 30,000 miles with a noticeable judder in the transmission.the vehicle now has approximately 117,000 miles andcontinues to develop this problem on average about 10,000 miles after transmission fluid change.this coincides with nhtsa reference #10084801.as of yet, i have not been able to find any resolution to the tsb, and i am growing frustrated by the suggested "solution" of triple changing the transmission fluid every time the symptoms surface every 10-15,000 miles.
When traveling at low speeds the car jerks and feels like you drove over something large when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. In 2nd gear there is significant loss of power and inability to sufficiently accelerate. Stopped, put car into park, tried again. Car proceeded to jerk horribly every time when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Took to the closest dealership. They were unable to replicate the problem. At times it almost felt as if the car was out of my control because of the jerking.
Despite keeping up with the required maintanence, i had to have the transmission rebuilt at 100k miles. Shifts very hard when i'm in traffic- lurches. Huge spot of paint peeling off the back (since ineasnt the original owner honda wouldn't fix it) paint is now starting to chip heat the chrome on. Both doors.
We got this brand new 2014 odyssey in early 2014, now with less than 7500 miles.recently we have been noticing rough, jerky transmission shifting (very noticeable between low gears).today i went to the honda service and informed them about the issues. The honda dealer service representative was surprised, and told me there is no such issue that they know about. After insisting, he made an appointment this coming thursday morning so that his mechanic to ride with me so that i can show him.i hope the problem can be duplicated when we do the test ride with them.and then i am afraid if the problem does not happen during this test ride or if it does they are not be able to figure out the cause or worst is they may not admit there is any transmission jerking and tell me ..... Everything is just fine etc.i hope this car is not a lemon and we end up fighting in a battle with honda pursuing the lemon law.i could not find anywhere on the honda or honda owner's website any link so that i could submit to honda these issues.i like to find other website where i could find more information on such issues.
Transmission has hard jerk when shifting at every gear level (1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, etc.)honda dealer reports that the fluid is black.it only has 57,000 miles.i see many other people online complaining of transmission problems on the 2014 odyssey...honda should issue a recall.
Transmission makes loud clanking noise and shudders violently at 10-20 mph during acceleration.acceleration throughout range is exceptionally sluggish and will not engage "passing gear" at highway speeds, making the vehicle dangerous to drive at low and higher speeds.problem stops when vehicle is stopped and re-started, but may reappear.dealer has not been able to duplicate problem and states honda has had no other complaints of same. However, i found almost exact same/similar complaint at http://www.carcomplaints.com within seconds of searching.i suspect it's happening to more people.in my opinion, this is a safety issue and potentially dangerous situation, especially driving in heavy traffic and the fact this vehicle is very likely to be used for hauling children.
I leased my 2014 odyssey on june 2014. I'm complaining about its jerking, those loud clunk during shift to 1st to 2nd gear started yesterday evening when i drove home with my wife from airport in stop and drive traffic.the car's transmission continued to do this every time i tried to accelerate between 10-20 miles per hour. It continued to jerk and clunk for 10 miles as i drove on the freeway.this is dangerous and made our hearts beat as it felt like the engine was going to fall out.i took the car to the dealer next day morning and they told me nothing wrong with the car as no diagnostic codes came up. They cannot get the car to duplicate issue now. I have to bring the car to them as soon as the problem occur. They only did software update for me at that time, hope it will help.for one year old 12000 mileage car, i think this is a serious problem. The reason i chosen honda odyssey was its safety rate. Now i felt unsafe in this car, especially with my two kids. I started looking online and i see a lot of people complaining about this issue now! hoping nhtsa help us pushing honda to fix this problem before terrible things happen.
While shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear, the car's transmission experiences a jerk/clunk that resonates throughout the vehicle.this issue occurs both while accelerating slowly from a stop, or while accelerating slowly while the vehicle is already in a slow coast.the worst jerks occur when the vehicle is slowly accelerated while turning the vehicle.in all cases, the problem occurs during gentle acceleration (gas conservation) versus quick acceleration.unfortunately, this problem is intermittent and has yet to be replicated by my neighborhood honda auto repair/dealership.no fault codes have been found on the computer.i have experienced similar symptoms in rear wheel drive cars that have resulted in the replacement of those transmissions.however, i have been told by the honda repair representatives that this issue is normal for the car.it is my opinion that no new car should experience a jerking motion while driving, especially at slow speeds.
Same transmission problems as many other people with the car bucking when slowly accelerating after a stop. Also accelerating problems with it being jerky and/or un-smooth. It sometimes jolts forward as well.when van is taken out of part on any incline, there is a loud "clunk" as it shifts into reverse. Purchased the van brand new in june 2014. Vehicle now has less than 26,000 miles on it.
While i am driving the honda odyssey today, everytime i was increasing the speed from 0, it was giving big jerk. I stopped and again increased the speed, same problem.i turned it off and restarted, then it was fine.same thing happened many times in past, but never recognized the pattern.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated that, in the past, the transmission was slipping. The contact took the vehicle to williamsburg honda (7101 richmond rd, williamsburg, va 23188, (757) 564-4671) where it was test driven and the failure was duplicated. The manufacturer was contacted and determined that the transmission fluid needed to be flushed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that when accelerating between 15-20 mph, the vehicle jerked without warning. While driving over 20 mph, the vehicle drove normally. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
As i accelerated from a complete stop at a stop sign and up a hill, the car violently jerked/bucked forward and back at the point where the car appears to shift gears for the first time.as i continued driving, it did this every time i accelerated from a stop.it was very uncomfortable, causing me to brace in the car because of the force of the jerking.i was concerned in traffic that my car was going to lunge into a car in front of me on the highway and made sure that i provided for extra distance between cars. After i arrived at my destination i turned car off and made appointment with the dealer.however, once i got back in the car to return home, the car no longer was jerking around.the honda dealer could not find any problem with my car the next day.i am very concerned that this will happen again.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey.the contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the transmission began making a loud clucking noise. Also, the contact mentioned that the vehicle violently jerks forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 10.
When accelerating from a stop light or from a situation such as slowed traffic in a stop and go setting, vehicle regularly lurches and transmission hesitates before locking into correct gear and suddenly accelerating forward. It seems as if the computer is searching for correct gear, but hesitates way too long to lock in as engine speeds have already increased. This happens most often after engine has warmed fully.
Transmission bucking at low speed after driving a while. When i drive my van off the drive way, everything behaves normally. The issue happens when it was driven for 30 minutes or so. After on the freeway for 30 minutes or longer while stopping at the off ramp waiting for the green light, the vans has problem trying to shift between speed of 20-40mph. The vans body shakes violently as if it was driving on a road with multiple low speed bumps. The transmission has difficulty hunting for the correct gear. I can see the rpm moving up and down crazily as if it engages a lower gear and immediately decides to switch to higher gear multiple times. The problem is most prominent when the vehicle is at complete stops and trying to speed up on the incline street. When it is on high speed, such as 50 mph and above, it drives smoothly. I think the vehicle is trying to compensate between best gear ratio and best fuel economy gear at the given speed. A the speed where constant speed is not achieved such as hill climbing or accelerating from stop at the off ramp traffic light, the computer confused.
We were driving in stop and go traffic in ca and our 2014 odyssey engine began to clunk and whole car jerked (like running over something like a speed bump) each time we tried to accelerate through second gear.felt like hitting something or engine falling out.the car's transmission continued to do this every time we tried to accelerate between 20-30 miles per hour.it continued to jolt/jerk/and clunk for 20 miles as we drove on the freeway.this is dangerous and made my heart skip beats as it felt like the engine was going to fall out/like being in a crash.contacted honda but their service was about to close.we pulled over to do our errand and when we restarted the car it stopped.the shifting on the vehicle is not smooth through gears.took next day to honda and they will not fix as no diagnostic codes came up and cannot get the car to duplicate issue now.now there is a tsb to update software but dealership will not do unless issue is duplicated again.safety issue that your brand new vehicle may have engine transmission fail at any point during travel.jolting is so severe when it happens that it could cause you to have an accident.
Since i bought have been to delar more than 15 times for transmission gear shift issue now getting increaseon low speed hard downshift or clunk when slowing down to a rolling stop
Transmission problems started very early on, i bought vehicle in march 2014. The transmission jerks/bucks horribly especially in lower gears, while stopping/breaking, while accelerating, and also during turns. It jolts forward at times uncontrollably. Also, it doesn't shift correctly into gears, which causes rpms to get above 3000 just during regular driving. Also has problems with downshifting properly. The front rotors and breaks have already had to be replaced at only 12,800 miles. Imo, i believe they warped due to the fact that the transmission does not downshift properly, (this caused extra strain on them with the lack of assist from the transmission).the transmission also lags during acceleration, especially when you are trying to pass someone on the highway, even the slightest pressing of the breaks before changing lanes causes major lag with trying to regain speed, then the vehicle you originally tried to pass is now further ahead of you, so overall it is horrible with passing speed/acceleration.brought into dealer and they claim nothing is wrong. Their famous lines are "no code no problem", "we can't duplicate the problem", or they say "its normal". During a test drive with the service director and the mechanic, the problem was in fact duplicated. The mechanic acknowledged that there was a problem, however the service director still insisted it was driving normal. Thankfully, i audio-recorded the test drive so i do have physical proof that the mechanic acknowledge that my transmission was having problems during the test drive.i now record all my conversations with them and take pictures/video's of the various problems to have as proof since they always give me excuse after excuse and lie. I also have other various problems with my van which i will file in separate complaint due to limited space.
When pulling out after a stop sign or turning right after a full stop the transmission will violently jerk the car forward. Honda recommended flushing the transmission two times to fix "manufacturer defect" and it did not work, actually is now worse than before the flushing, we paid $297 and not fixed.see attached receipts.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. While driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked and did not change gears without warning. The vehicle was taken to bergstrom honda (located at 3285 s washburn st, oshkosh, wi 54904) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Bought vehicle in march 2014, only a few months later i started having vibration in the steering wheel while braking. It continued to get worse and happened each time i would come to a stop. Dealer confirmed that rotors were warped. Now in a previous complaint, i wrote about my transmission problems. I don't know if the rotors were just defective or if they became warped due to being overheated with friction as a result of the transmission not functioning properly. I just want to make other owners aware of this problem. Once the dealer replaced the rotors, the vibration stopped.
Went to start the the van wouldn't start. Pushed the push start again it started. Got 10 minutes down the road going about 30 mph and felt a hard jerk and it shook a few times and the started idling hard and jerked forward . Sounded like something was going to fall out the bottom of it.no service lights came on. Then got to work shut it off when back out 10 min later and the check engine light and the fcw light was on felt like it was still ideling hard. Looks like there is a lot of complaints about the same issue. Wonder why honda is not recalling them. I have 61,300 miles on mine. So how many complaints does a car company have to have to issue a recall. These are not inexpensive vehicles. May have to look into an attorney. I can see where this could be a safety issue.
Barely over 1 month ago i purchased a brand new honda odyssey. This is first new vehicle i have bought in years. Big mistake. I started having trouble with acceleration, the vans jerks, shudders and make loud clunking noises. After i start the van and try to engage in reverse it goes no where...the same thing started happening when i put it in drive. I took it too the dealership that weekend and they told me there was a computer update that should fix the problem... It didn't. Two days later i took it back to them and told them it was unacceptable and i wanted it fixed. That was 2 weeks ago. That is 2 weeks that they have had my "new" van that i am paying dearly for. They have admitted to feeling the problems and claim they called the honda tech line who states i am the only person in the united states that has had this issue. Next week they are installing a new transmission and will continue to try new things until they find a solution. I love the fact that i am making a payment for them to play with my van as the test dummy. If i wanted a van with all these replacements i would have bought an old one and had everything rebuilt and saved alot of money and time that a working mother of 3 kids does not have. This is a nightmare!!!!! please do you homework before you purchase this year model of van.
From a stop or yield, upon acceleration van jerked.it did this several times all the way back to the dealership.technicians could not get the van to duplicate this action, so they could do nothing.
Very rough transmission down-shift from 2nd to 1st when slowing down, but not coming to a complete stop, and then accelerating.this can be avoided by very slowly pressing the accelerator pedal on acceleration (very slow acceleration).i told the dealer about this problem and was told this is normal operation.i do not feel this type of operation is normal.further, i see many other similar complaints on this site.mileage is about 18,000, but the problem has existed since the vehicle was new (purchased 10/30/14).
When the vehicle is at 5 to 20 mph during acceleration, transmission makes clunk noise and jerks. When this happens there is no response from transmission for few seconds and suddenly shift gears with jerk and pushes the vehicle (feels someone is hitting from back). This issue is random during traffic lights, heavy traffic and freeway merge.having kids on the vehicle and driving is bigger safety concern and this behavior will likely hit other vehicles as acceleration is exceptionally sluggish and will not respond. When the vehicle is above 45 mph and drives without any issues.vehicle been to dealer service center twice but they said we are unable to reproduce it and it's really frustrating. This issue has been raised to honda by many owners but so far no update from them.here are some ref.http://www.carcomplaints.com/honda/odyssey/2014/transmission/vehicle_jerking_loud_clunking_noise.shtmlhttp://www.odyclub.com/forums/9-problems-concerns/182841-ex-2014-transmission-motor-problem.htmlhttp://www.arfc.org/complaints/2014/honda/odyssey/engine/problem.aspx.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. When the vehicle was stopped, it shook and an abnormal noise emitted from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. However, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000.
2014 honda odyssey touring elite began violent jerking when accelerating on 84 degree day after an hour of stop and go city driving.occurred nearly 20 times when accelerating from stop light to moderate speeds of 25/35mph.felt as if hit from behind each transitioning/accelerating 1st to 2nd gear.very scary.had my two young children in van who were equally alarmed over violent jerking.not a single service light went on during these episodes.had van towed to honda dealership where they claimed to have failed to duplicate this issue. Do not feel safe with my children in this vehicle.found other 2014 odyssey owners experiencing same problem. Http://m.carcomplaints.com/honda/odyssey/2014/transmission/vehicle_jerking_loud_clunking_noise.shtml.
When accelerating from a stopped position, the car did not accelerate and at approximately 20-30 the car violently bucked/jumped.this happened ever time i tried to accelerate onto an interstate highway, after slowing down on a city street, or in my neighborhoodt to make a turn or for a red light. So, it happenedactually anytime the speed dropped below approximately 20 mph.
2 potential safety issues occurring at 55000 miles or less with no recall from honda: transmission jerking at low speeds and warped brake rotors at low mileage:issue 1: when traveling up a hill (small to moderate grade) the van has a jerking motion and the needle on the odometer bounces back and forth about 200 rpms with the foot steady on the gas pedal.this has happened for quite some time on hills but now at 55000 miles the van is doing it on a level service while in 2nd gear (or when transitioning to 2nd from 1st).again the foot is steady on the gas pedal and the van jerks with the needle bouncing on the odometer a few hundred rpms back and forth for a short bit until into 3rd gear.i read of a tsb 16-060 that the cause is improper heating of the transmission fluid.the short-term fix is to drain and fill the transmission fluid while a future fix is a software update that is not yet completed.issue 2: when braking there is violent vibrations in the steering wheel.i took it to the dealer, don't remember the date but while still under the 3 year/36000 mile warranty, they turned the rotors which caused the vibrations to go away.now at 55000 miles the van is again having violent vibrations while braking.the rotors should not warp so fast, with low mileage.
Transmission problems with the car bucking when slowly accelerating after a stop.also accelerating problems with it being jerky and/or un-smooth.it sometimes jolts forward as well. We just purchased this car used from a dealer less than 2 months ago with 16,500 miles on it.
In the morning when i first turn on the car there is big jerk when changing gears from 15 to 20mph i turn the car off and back on and it goes away this happens only once in the morning. During the day driving the streets a very small shudder jerk is feltnot as big as the one in the mornings but this one is constant through the day
The transmission was shuddering when shifting.the dealer said to fix itthey would have to flush the transmission three times with new fluid anddo a computer upgrade to fix it.since my car has is six years old and over 75 thousand miles 86 thousand.they charged me $550.00 for this service. My problem is this is a known prolem with honda odyssey, its all over the internet.many different year models, the service mgr. And my salesman both told me 2014 was a year that had many transmission troubles. If its been going on for years they should fix it. And i should not have to pay for itbecause of their neglect warranty or not.
While driving on the interstate, vehicle started to shudder and check engine indicator light started flashing.exited the next exit and took took the van to the local mechanic shop the next morning.they replaced the spark plugs, due to being fouled, and also coil pack for cylinder 3, due to misfire code on cylinder 3.within a month, the vehicle experienced the same shudder and flashing check engine indicator light.took the van in to my mechanic and the code showed misfire on cylinder 3.he replaced the spark plug due to the fouling of the new plug and saved it for me to present to honda.he also switched coil pack 2 with coil pack 3.he advised me of honda technical service bulletin 13-081 and explained the build date of our odyssey was listed as 08/13 and we should be included in the warranty extension that honda was extending to the 11-13 models with the same exact issue as we were experiencing. I called the local honda dealership and explained the circumstances and situation and the technician advised me our van was not covered under the warranty extension and as problems continued to arise to continue what we were doing and following recommendations of our mechanic (who has advised me to now get rid of vehicle due to honda's position) and that in the technician's opinion fuel injectors would probably be the next course of action.
Our 2014 honda odyssey exl minivan was converted with a braun ability handicap accessible conversion in february of 2014. We had driven the conversion minivan without any problems until april 30, 2014. We utilize a power mobility chair in the front passenger side of the van. When the seat belt was released for the front passenger in the power mobility chair, it somehow became entangled in the arm of the power mobility chair.we were unaware that when the shoulder part of the belt is pulled all the way out, it causes a safety feature to activate, and the belt must fully retract to allow the passenger to move about freely. Apparently, this belt was fully extended when initially placed around the front seat passenger in the mobility chair. When the belt was released, we could not move the passenger forward due to the safety feature, and we could not move the power chair backward due to the belt entangled in the arm of the power mobility chair.we needed to have the belt come further out in order to detangle it, however, the safety feature would not allow that, and there is currently no over-ride emergency release button for the safety feature once it is engaged.the passenger was trapped in the power mobility chair in the minivan. We were alone, over 60 miles from home, and stranded in a parking lot. We were unable to drive anywhere, as we could not move the power mobility chair forward enough to lock it in with the q-straint system.fortunately, management of the local honda dealership allowed their service personnel to drive to our location and assist us.they took apart the seat belt retraction device and detangled the belt. We reported this to honda so that they might consider designing a safety over-ride button. They provided us a case number. We also called braun ability so that they might work with honda.
On saturday july 19th my son almost choked to death on the middle row seatbelt.i have three young kids of 7,6 and 4. The 7 and 6 were playing and suddenly the seatbelt wrapped around my sons neck. My wife quickly attempted to unattached and untangle and she could not.the seatbelt just got tighter and tighter and there was no emergency release button either from the top or bottom of the seatbelt.i quickly held him up in the air sideways to give him a little air while my wife run to a stranger's house to borrow scissors.the only way for us to release him free was to cut the seatbelt. We are fortunate that nothing serious happened to my son, only bruises around his neck.this is a huge safety issue that honda corporation should be aware off and taken careful investigation. I have contacted honda corporate office and they really don't care much. They tell me that there is nothing wrong with the seatbelt and it's working the way it is. I asked for a supervisor and he told me that my case would be closed. They are rude and no sympathy to what just happened.the second time i spoke to a honda representative i told them again that they should investigate, as i don't want this to happen to anyone else. They refused and only state that they will put it in the notes.
The "standard seat assembly" as defined by fig-1a of fmvss 213 defines seat/seat-belt geometry such that a seatbelt buckle shall not extend beyond175mm (~6in) from the seat bight.the standard seems to allow car manufacturers to utilize seat belt buckle assemblies anywhere in the 0 to 175mm range from the bight.a bight-to-buckle (b2b) distance of 175mm makes it difficult (or impossible) to properly secure child car seats, using the vehicle's seat belt, if the child seat depth is shallower than 175mm.this hypothesis was developed after i was unable to properly secure a diono radian rxt car seat (forward facing mode) in my 2014 honda odyssey.the buckles in the honda (see attached) appear to be close to the 175mm threshold.however, i was able to secure the same diono seat in my 2007 audi a6 because the audi's buckles are flush mounted in the seat cushion (i.e. B2b of ~0mm).i do not believe this problem is a "honda" problem, but a problem with the lack of specificity of fmvss-213 wrt how child seats are to be tested.fmvss 213 s6.1.2 simply states that the "standard seat assembly" is to be used, and makes no mention of ensuring compatibilityof fit throughout the b2b range.the diono manual (see pg-19, attached) indicates that their seats are not compatible with "...anchor points forward of the seat crease."i reviewed other child car seat manufacturer instruction manuals and found similar warnings.while the honda seat belts contain fmvss-209 certification tags, and the diono is labeled with fmvss-213 tags, i believe that these two standards are not compatible.recommendations:(1)update "standard seat assembly" of fmvss-213 such that b2b is explicitly fixed at 175mm or(2) fmvss-209 must restrict b2b< 25mm. Fmvss-209 s4.1.e only specifies, "...buckle or buckles readily accessible to the occupant to permit his easy & rapid removal..."
My daughter was trapped in the seatbelt. We parked the car in our garage and when she sat up to release her belt, the belt became tangled around her waist. We tried for 30 minutes to release to seatbelt but once it retracted there was no way to release it. Finally we had to cut the belt to free her. She was sitting in the third row on the drivers side.
After returning from an errand, my family and i were parked in our driveway. My four-year-old son was sitting in the third row passenger side and buckled using the car's seatbelt. He was sitting in his toddler carseat, per guidelines. In trying to unbuckle himself, he became inextricably entangled in the seatbelt. The more he or i tried to free him; the tighter the seatbelt became around his torso, even making indentations and abrasive red marks on his skin. Since i could find no way to release the tension in the seatbelt and since it only became tighter because of my efforts to free him, i decided to sever the seatbelt, effectively resolving the tension and allowing him to get out of the seat. The incident lasted approximately 40 minutes from the realization that he was entangled to the decision to cut him out of the seatbelt. I could not lift him out of the seatbelt because it was too tight, and he couldn't wiggle his way down the seat to free himself without the belt wrapping around his neck. Given the situation, severing the seatbelt was the best and safest choice to free him. There needs to be a way to release the tension of the seat belts in the third row of honda odyssey models, particularly because they are family vehicles responsible for the safety of children. I have registered this concern with honda, and it has been a case number.
This is the 2nd recall i've had on my car within a year all having to do with the 2nd row seats not latching properly. The lady on the phone just told me that if i brake too hard the seat could possibly come unlatched. I have a child and you're telling me that honda isn't doing anything except waiting for parts to come in and not selling their new vans until these parts come in. I don't feel that is enough. How can honda allow people who own these vehicles to still be driving them until they have fixed the problem. If i brake hard and the seat comes unlatched from the floor board, which is what the lady told me, that is super unsafe and honda should be doing more about this problem, even worse if someone is to run into you or rear-end you. The child or adult, whomever, will probably die if the seat unlatches from the floorboard. And better yet, they don't even have the parts in to fix the problem.
Nhtsa recall number17v-725 has been open since november, 17 2017 with no resolution. That is pretty unacceptable and now i receive another letter for a 2nd recall nhtsa recall number18v-170 dated mar 13, 2018. Is this ever going to be fixed? my children ride back there.
The second row seats both driver and passenger side does not latch properly.this usually occurs when accessing the 3rd row seats using the slide handle.under normal operation, returning the 2nd row seats to the upright position secures the slider mechanism of the seats and prevents the 2nd row seat from moving.however, the locking mechanism does not work and you will not know that the seat is not secure.possible injury may occur to the 3rd row occupants if the 2nd row seat moves when the vehicle is in motion.2nd row seat occupants also may be injured in this situation when the vehicle is in motion.dealer replaced locking mechanism of the passenger-side 2nd row seats but driver side seat now displays this symptom.
While driving, i was intermittently using the seat warmers (toggling between the high, low, and off settings.) upon exiting the vehicle, the back of my legs felt very sore and irritated. The next morning, it was evident i had second degree burns, which was confirmed 2 days later by a medical professional, who treated me for the burns.
The 2009 rule requiring changes in head restraints (commonly called head rests) has resulted in a design found on many vehicles (the honda odyssey is just one example) that incredibly uncomfortable for many drivers.in your attempt to help keep people safe you have created an unsafe environment.the angle of the head restraint pushing my wife's head down and forward causing pain and preventing her from seeing out the window properly.this creates a serious driving hazard and essentially eliminated any vehicle made since 2010 (we have tried gm, chrysler, honda, toyota so far).this could be solved by allowing the driving to adjust the angle of the head restraint - you know, by treating us adults capable of making decisions on our own and determining what works for us.i find the head restraint uncomfortable but i can "live with it" after adjusting it.thanking for keeping us safe and ruining driving for my family.great job!trying googling "uncomfortable headrests in new cars" to see how many people have a problem with this law.
Nhtsa recall 16v-933 and possibly dangerous windshield frame. I called american honda motor co. Regarding nhrsa recall 16v-933 and windshield apparently coming apart from its frame. American honda motor co. Refused to discuss these issues with me; referred me, instead to a local dealer. I called the local honda east dealership, 702-369-3099, only to be told the all technicians were too busy with more important matters, but that i could leave my phone number and one will call me when one becomes free. That was yesterday morning, march 8, 2017. As of this morning, march 9, 2017, i10:33 am, i have received no phone call from honda east. Honda case no. 5766404.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated that the second-row seat on the passenger's side failed to latch securely. Stockton 12 honda (10860 s auto mall dr, sandy, ut 84070, (801) 981-4920) was contacted and informed the contact that the passenger's seat was not under recall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was inspected but, not repaired. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 16v933000 (seats) and 17v725000 (seats) as possible solutions to the failure however, the vin was not available to confirm information. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The second row seats both the left and the right side do not lock into place when you move the seat. You would have to manually touch the black bar on the bottom to lock the seat. My children several times have had the seat move and almost choke them when we come to a complete stop. I have complain several times to my dealership and they have told me that it was a defective spring, however warranty will not change it since it is not broken. That is weird since it is not working as it has been intended.
Contacted "dave" at honda to inquire whether honda is prepared to deal with the 2nd seat recall. This "chat" session with "dave" is a total fraud. Try it. Dave does not exist. The only notice i have received from honda regarding this recall stated that honda did not have the necessary parts. Honda website states that i must bring my vehicle in immediately because my life is at stake. Yet honda cannot tell me that it can fix the problem. Also, i noticed today that the bottom windshield seal or support that holds the windshield in place has buckled in numerous places and is about to come off entirely. This would permit water to enter the engine compartment and create a driving hazard. It might also permit the windshield to come loose. I suspect that this is not just my vehicle, but is likely a problem with all of the honda lineup. I don't know when this happened, so i cannot answer that question.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. While driving various speeds or making a turn, the second row driver and passenger seats failed to lock in place and independently swayed from side to side. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the vehicle was operating as designed. The vehicle was previously serviced per an unknown nhtsa campaign number related to the seats. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 27,000.
Our honda odyssey was subject to the recent recall relating to the movement of the second row seats.we took the vehicle in for repair at the nearby honda dealership, and it was allegedly fixed.however, several days thereafter, while i was driving with my toddler (in a car seat attached to the passenger side second row seat) at approximately 15 mph on local streets, i braked gently to merge into a lane that would turn toward the highway when i heard my child crying in sudden distress.the seat that she was in had flipped forward into the front passenger seat, and her head and body was pressed into the front passenger seat.i immediately put the car into park and went to set the seat back down and check on and comfort my child.there were some injuries, and we sought medical attention.after the incident, i checked the seat that had flipped forward, and it was still not locked into place, despite me having set the seat down after the incident.i would like to make clear that no individual has moved this seat since we retrieved the car after its repair from the recall.this incident is absolutely unacceptable, as this indicates that the repair relating to the recall was not properly done or else there are additional mechanical issues involved.i attached a picture of how the car seat was positioned (with my child in it!).we also called the honda dealership to bring the car back in for evaluation, and they were unable to determine whether this incident was due to their human error or a mechanical issue.
November 2017 news reports described a safety recall of certain model years of honda odyssey van second row seating. This was due to seats not being secure in sudden stop or impact. Since that time, now 4 months, several dealership claim no knowledge of when the recall repairs will be honored and refer callers to honda america. Honda america refers all calls to dealers and states this is "not really a safety issue" but a matter of operator error. I would submit that if the seat latch system can be installed/operated improperly then it is in fact a safety related design defect which a corporation the size of honda could have repaired by now, if they were not denying the problem! can dot enforce an existing federal recall?
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. When the vehicle was purchased less than two weeks ago, the contact was not informed of nhtsa campaign numbers: 18v170000 (seats) and 17v725000 (seats) until after the purchase was complete. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the parts were not available. There was no timeframe for when the parts would be supplied to the dealer. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available for nhtsa campaign number: 18v170000 (seats) and parts distribution disconnect for nhtsa campaign number: 17v725000 (seats).
Recalls number 17v-725 and 18v-170 appear to be serious safety issues for passengers in the 2nd row seats, and there does not appear to be a manufacturer solution.for the 17v-725 recall, it has been outstanding for over a year without a solution offered by the manufacturer.why is this taking so long and why hasn't nhsta not taken stronger action to compel honda to fix the problem?this is why you exist, to keep consumers safe before a safety incident occurs.please address this with honda to fix the problem.
The second row outboard seats come unsecured from the floor of the vehicle. This continues to happen after honda performed its most recent recall repair. A four year old 38 lb. Child kicked the second row passenger seat back. The seat came dislodged from the floor hooks/anchors. See attached photos. The car was stationary when this happened.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 16v933000 (seats) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The contact received the recall notification three months ago. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact stated that the rear driver side seat exhibited a latch failure. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 850. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v725000 (seats); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time as the recall notice was received over three months ago. The dealer (mike patton honda, 1406 lafayette pkwy, lagrange, ga 30241) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

The steering wheel was shaking when braking. The front disks are warped. Dealer covered the repairs under warranty (turned the rotors). This is not acceptable honda.
At 10k miles, we had vibration and sporadic humming noise from brakes.i took the vehicle to honda last year with about 12.5k miles on vehicle.they were unable to hear the noise but they wanted to turn the rotors to address the issue and said it went out of warranty at 12k miles.we were shocked as we have had numerous vehicles and never had to service brakes this early.after speaking with the manager they agreed to fix it under warranty and said because of driving habits sometimes brakes just need to be replaced sooner.the noise continued, we took it back around 24k miles.they couldn't hear the noise but shaved rear rotors to see if it helped. Now we have 35k miles and back at the service department for vibration and noise.this time i took a clip of the noise so they could hear it. The solution was new pads and turn the rotors on all axels and it would be about $400 since its not under warranty.they said brakes were in mechanically good condition and the pads still had about 40% so i could just live with noise and vibration if i didnt want to do the brake job.i said i thought this was ridiculous based on its mileage and was again told basically its dependent on driving habits (although i have never had this problem on any other car ive owned).i said i think its a honda brake design issue in that rotors and pads are not robust enough for the size of the vehicle as there are other complaints on nhtsa and online with the same issues.we talked to the service manager who agreed they have seen this as a problem and admitted he has a pilot that needs brakes about every 40k miles.they agreed to turn the back rotors to see if that fixes the noise and offered a discount to do the front brakes.he let us know we could use after market pads that may be better but arent under the honda warranty (we didnt do this and used same pads with less than appealing 12k mile warranty).
30k miles had to have my rotors resurfaced due to warping.this is my wife's car and she drives it like an old lady so i know it's not her driving style.seems like this is a common complaint for this vehicle.
Brakes started vibrating fairly violently when descending hills at 10,000 miles. Informed that the brake rotors were warped and needed to be resurfaced. This is the 3rd honda vehicle that we have had and have gotten over 100,000 miles on pilot and crv without this happening. Therefore it is not due to driving habits.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. When the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle vibrated severely. The failure occurred without warning. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 36,858.
24,000 miles on our car and it is only 2 years old and we were told our front rotors were warped and needed to be machined. I had call the service dept. When we were under 20,000miles and was told the sqeaky noise was from the rain and the water getting onto the brake pads... Ya ok. $120 + labor + taxes later and i was told it was due to my driving style.. Which i do not "ride the brakes" nor do i "break hard" . We have never had an issue like this with any other car. My husbands chevy malibu has over 100,000 miles on it and this is the second time we have had to have his brakes done.i am very frustrated with this and i think it should be under warranty or some sort of recall on the rotors.
While driving on the highway and going 60mph or higher, the steering wheel shakes a lot when i start to brake and i have to pump my brakes rather than a slow gradual depression of the pedal like one would normally do or else the van becomes unstable.this has been the case for over a year.
The brakes on our 2014 odyssey started vibrating slightly when appliedat 20,000 miles. Slowly the vibration has increased with time and is now very apparent at 28k.our dealer claims that there is no service bulleten on the issue and it appears tha the brake rotors are warped and need to be resurfaced.however, we are very cautious drivers and hve never encountered this problem with any of our numerous other vehicles.also, when looking for information on the problem on the web, it appears that this has been a longstanding issue that honda appears to be avoiding.and simply put, trueing the rotors will only temporarly correct the problem and hasten a reacurrance! to say the least, this has been a very disappointing experience with our first odyssey!
Turning left after stopping at a red light. Feel the car is slipping and smell gasoline, when stepping on the brakes try to stop, but the brakes did not work and the car did not stop.stepped on the brakes very hard (all the way through), the carbumped several times and finally stopped, almost hitting the car in front. Turned off engine and restarted, the brakes function normal.
We have had on going problems with our rotors.they had to be machined after only 15,000 miles and replace after 30,000 miles.we replaced them with high end napa rotors since we did not trust honda rotors and honda refused to replace them.now at 54,000 miles, the brakes are shimmying again.
When driving at speeds over 50 miles an hour and breaking the car shutteres. The problem continued to get worse and the car would feel out of control when braking at over 50 miles an hour. The first few timesit happened was in wet weather and i attributed it to that. But the problem continued and thefirst rotorswere replaced at about 3000 miles. Subsequently the rotors were changed 2 more times after that. The fourth time we reported it to honda national. We were told that they never heard of such a problem and that it was because it was too hot in florida and i break too hard despite the fact that i've been driving for over 30 years and never came across this problem.they also told us that they could not replace the vehicle because they could not sell our current vehicle because it wasn't safe. So because of circumstances we had to pay fees large fees for another car. Honda refuses to admit this is a problem .if you research on the web there were hundreds even thousands of complaints with people given the same answer by honda. I think this is a real problem and the shuttering gets worse very quickly and can be very dangerous on the highway and somebody needs to look into this problem.
(1)paint peeling(2)brakes inferior and don't stop correctly(3)driver back door and hatch open randomly without anyone opening them(4)large clunking noise and jerking when first starting to take off(5)rear camera may take up to 5 minutes to engage(6)error message pops up on screen saying "cannot import call history"(7)back passenger cup holder fell out
Coming down mcdonalds pass, the van was going faster than i wanted, 50 or 60 miles per hour so i tapped the brakes to slow down on clear blacktop, no ice. When i did,the front end wheels shimmied each time i tapped the breaks. It scared me, because if it had been icy, i could not have slowed down at an appropriate speed to get to a safer speed. I was able to eventually slow down, but the front end kept shimmying each time i tapped the brakes going down the steep hill and there were curves in the road as well.
My honda odyssey 2014 shakes when i brake on speed 40 miles that dangerous to control the vehicle, honda need to recall safety for that problem.
At29,000 miles, march of 2015, rotors had to be re-surfaced.at that time mechanic stated they where having a lot of problems with odyssey rotors as the rotor was too small for the weight of the odyssey.mechanic and serive writer stated that all it took to wrapp rotors was one semi-hard stop.dealer re-surface rotor under warranty, but would not replace brake pads that had a groove in them from wrapped rotor.now at 44,000 miles, nov.3, 2015, rotors are wrapped again and need to be replaced.dealer refuses to do anything about this problem.i believe this is a safety problem honda should take care of by replacing rotors with a heavy duty rotor and new brake pads.
Driving home from dealership saturday evening the brakes began to squeal in stop and go traffic. Front brakes started to squeal excessively loud when stopping, but the noise also continued when foot was removed from the brake and accelerating. When fully stopped could smell burnt brake pad. Took vehicle to nearest honda dealer on monday who examined the front breaks and found drivers side front brake caliper bracket installed incorrectly (misaligned) which also lead to the caliper being damaged. Service technician believed this to be an assembly defect. Dealer will replace parts and correct issue under manufacturers warranty.
Was driving at about 30mph and performed a panic stop as a delivery truck in front stopped and turned suddenly.continued down the road after the delivery truck turned in driveway.going down the next hill of the 30mph road, the brakes failed as the driver attempted to slow the vehicle to the posted speed.driver stood on the brake pedal but brake pedal depressed only slightly and vehicle would not slow.driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle and coast the vehicle to a stop on a long residential driveway.just before vehicle came to a stop a grinding noise was heard.grinding sound become higher pitched just before noise and vehicle stopped. After stopping, driver turned off the vehicle.after about 5 minutes, the driver restarted the vehicle and brake pedal travel and braking function returned.vehicle was towed to dealership.current information from dealer is that no cause has been found. Only explanation is that brakes were overheated due to the panic stop. Dealer still has vehicle and says they are still investigating.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. While driving 35 mph,the steering wheel shook. When the brake pedal was applied, the vehicle was slow to respond. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to concord honda (1461 concord ave, concord, ca 94520, (855) 679-6829) where it was diagnosed that the rotors needed to be resurfaced and upgraded for better performance. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 28,000. The vin was not available.
The steering wheel shakes when braking at highway speeds.this started at about 30,000 miles.i took the car to the dealer, and they immediately said i needed the brakes resurfaced before they even drove the car.this tells me they are aware of a recurring issue.at this point it was out of warranty at 38,000 miles because i had already purchased brand new tires thinking that was the problem.i had them align the tires that day, and the shaking did not go away.honda needs to take responsibility and recall faulty brakes.they should not need costly repairs at this low mileage.
The car has been shaking (steering wheel specifically) when braking.this has been going on for about 5000 miles but i didn't realize it was an issue.upon review it was found front brake pads are 80% and back are 50% but front rotors are warped.dealer is not covering as 'under warranty' saying that warped rotors are driver wear.everything i'm reading online says that this is happening to a lot of 2011-2014 odysseys and that there are mixed results on dealers covering under warranty.i do not drive aggressively and do not drive mountains/hills.i've had 5 honda's including one other odyssey we drove for 9 years and never had this problem.i'm also reading it has been shown to happen repeatedly at low mileage rates.i will add another claim if this happens again.
The honda odyssey has terrible brake shimmying, especially under a little more load/higher speeds or down hills.there are a large number of complaints about this exact problem and that the under-sized rotors warp extremely easily.honda does not cover this under warranty and even the repair rep knew it was a known issue.honda knows about the issue, it affects all recent years of the odyssey yet nothing is done about it.i believe it's a safety issue.
While traveling home from a family trip to our local mountains, the steering wheel began to violently shutter while applying the brakes. The elevation change from big bear, california to the bottom of the hill in highland, california is approximately 5400 feet.i was not "riding" the brakes nor was i speeding. I only applied them to appropriately slow the vehicle in curves. I was concerned enough that i was not going to be able to affectively slow the vehicle, or control the vehicle, that i pulled over and inspected all four brake rotors and saw nothing visually. When resuming down the hill, the shuttering was much better for a couple of curves and then continued again.i was able to nurse the vehicle down the hill, until they were more straightaways and i needed the brakes less. The shuttering diminished upon less use/cooling.upon researching this issue with my vehicle, i found that overheating of the brake rotors is extremely common on my honda vehicle. I also learned that honda is aware of the issue, so much so that they have redesigned the replacement rotors for my vehicle. The redesign includes rotor vents to help keep the rotors cool. I feel the design flaw of the original equipment rotors is a significant safety issue that should be addressed by honda through a recall.
Car vibrates and shakes on application of brakes.have had to have brake rotors repaired or replaced on three different occasions started at 10,000 miles.it is not covered under warranty
Experienced extreme shaking while braking at high speeds.brought the car into the dealership and they said my rotors are warped.i asked them why my rotors were warped at 6k miles and they didn't really say anything.the problem came back another time six months later and again they turned the rotors.it just happened again and they said my rotors are too thin to turn and they need to be replaced at 20k miles.i complained to the service manager and he said they have seen three other cars already of this year/make with rotor needing to be replaced at low mileage.they said this is more normal for a 60k mile plus type maintenance.honda has agreed to replace the rotors and pads for the cost of the parts (free labor).however i thought i should report it as it seems to be a defect affecting more than just my car.
I was driving (in motion) on slippery, wet, but icy roads in town. I was only going about 20 mph.twice, i had to stop slightly faster than i normally would have, but when i started tapping the brakes to slow down and stop, they felt like they locked up on me and it took awhile before i was able to have any "brake" feeling at all! the wheel walls, i noticed later have small space between tire and wheel wall, causing snow build-up, which may have caused a problem in the braking ability also.after this happened a couple more times throughout the week, my brake sensor light warning came on and has stayed on now.but, after i took my vehicle to the car wash and got all the ice out of the wheel wells, the brakes are working fine and smooth stopping, still icy conditions on the road.i think the wheel walls don't have enough room between the tires and wheel walls.in icy conditions, it seems to be putting dangerous pressure on my brake system, when in motion applying the brakes.i was driving straight on a road when all the above occurred.
The car shakes violently when applying breaks. We only have 30k miles on the car. We live in southern california and we don't drive fast anywhere. After doing some research honda has had bad rotors and they refuse to replace the part on their time. Since they have redesigned the rotor, which has eliminated the problem. We have never had the need to change the rotors after 30k miles. This issues has nothing to do with our driving style but with our fault fart. I guess honda will wait for people to die before replacing this. This will be our last honda.
At about 30,000 miles, our odyssey started to shake when braking at freeway speeds. It generally happens after about 30 minutes of driving. It is very hard to control the vehicle.this is very dangerous.
The brake rotors are faulty and become easily warped, causing severe shaking when braking, especially at higher speeds but generally overall. The honda dealer admits this is a known problem but will not cover the issue under warranty. Our van has less than 50,000 miles, and the issue was first noticed around 20,000 miles. We've taken it to the dealer twice, and they offered to "resurface" the rotors for $170 or replace with "updated rotors" for $562 but declined to cover under warranty (we even purchased an extended warranty). I emailed the dealer with my concerns, and i was told they would be forwarded to management. I called honda as well to register a complaint, and the honda representative said she would forward our concerns to engineering.
At 20,000 miles, braking from freeway speeds started to cause shuddering and jerking of the steering wheel.we were able to live with it for a little while, but finally took it to the dealership at 27,960 miles, and were told the brake rotors were warped.the dealer resurfaced the rotors without our authorization and said they will not replace them, even though they are clearly defective (they show clear signs of heat damage).this is a common problem with this vehicle, and honda has already discontinued the old rotor, and a new rotor is available, part # 45251-tk8-a02.yet, honda refuses to replace our defective rotors, making our vehicle dangerous and unsafe to drive.refinishing the rotors will only temporarily fix the problem, but they will quickly overheat again, and honda obviously just hopes this happens after our warranty expires.this is a relatively new vehicle (2 years), and still under warranty.we should not have to worry about the manufacturer refusing to honor their warranty, and the safety of our braking system due to defective parts.
Brake rotors warped with very few (20k or less) miles. Dealer stated it was not covered under warranty. Every report i found online stated that resurfaced rotors ended up warping again in a short amount of time. I have found that honda has recently changed out the rotors they use to try and combat this problem, though, never formally issuing a recall or notice to everyone that has been hit by this issue.
Brake rotors - do i really need to go into detail?54,000 miles and front rotors have been resurfaced twice and now the rear need it as well.severe shimmying/vibration during braking.obviously this causes inconsistent reaction forces between the tire and road surface that could cause unpredictable vehicle response!does a child need to loose their life before a recall is issued?does anyone read these complaints?is honda doing anything about this?how has the nhtsa not performed an investigation on this?come get my van and try it out!
As i was trying to stop at a red light and my legs only on the brakes, the car started accelerating and had to press the brakes so hard with my entire body weight on it to make it stop - had i left a fraction loose the car would have just taken off... So scary and not safe at all... The weird thing is that it didn't happen for the next 50+ miles i drove... But this incident makes sure that this vehicle is totally unsafe for any one to drive. I'd like to lodge this complaint on this vehicle and that the vehicle taken away for r&d to resolve.. Honda dealer is claiming that there is no issue and that i may have pressed the gas along with the brakes and was talking about the toyota camry issue aimlessly and had asked me to have a test drive and trying to talk me out of this...
While braking at 50+mph, the steering wheel starts to shake violently. The car currently has 58,000 miles on it. This has been occurring for over a year. We have had the tires rotated and balanced, the rotors and break pads are good. This is becoming a safety hazard and honda needs to do something about this.
When driving on highway roads @55+ mph and applying brakes, the steering wheel and van begin to shake and vibrate violently to the point of loss of control of the vehicle.this behavior began around 25k miles and has increased in occurance and intesity.online research suggests bad rotors but honda refuses to recall.defective rotors should not be the resonsibility of the owner.this issue needs to be fixed immediately, it is extremely dangerous!!
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. While driving 30 mph changing from a paved to an unpaved lane, the brake pedal sank to the floor and the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The vehicle was shifted into park and turned off. After restarting the engine, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 38,000.
Front brake rotos had to be turned at less than 20k miles.at 36k i having the same problem.violent shaking between 60-75 hr when braking.normal city driving.head to dealer on 22 nov
Front rotors warped after 12000 miles.complaints to honda dealer.told this is normal.no replacement offered.this is a safety issue and a recall should be initiated.
Honda odyssey 2014 at less then 20,000 miles i got got a violent shake when breaking took it to the dealer and all they did was resurface the rotors. Now at 33,000 they are doing the same thing. Called honda and they said that is normal brake wear. After driving for 40 yrs how or what type of material is honda using for their rotors never happened on any past car with such low mileage. This is a major accident going to happen. Coming down a mountain road is dangerous look into this.
Car has 53,000 miles on and while driving in speeds above 30 mph the steering wheel violently shakes and is worsens with increased speeds. This shakes my entire body, steering column and makes it difficult to control the wheel.i had already replaced both front and back pads and had rotors turned around 23k. All work done at honda dealership
At roughly 35,000, i was told that the rotors were warped and needed resurfacing.i've owned multiple cars and never had a brake issue with such low mileage.car shakes excessively upon breaking and could cause accident - it is worse at higher speeds.this seems to be an issue in many hondas and which could be responsible for accidents.
Vehicle shakes violently when applying brakes. Warped rotors time after time. Replacement last a few months. Way to many people are having this issue with this particular vehicle. Please look into this! i truly feel there is a design flaw.
I took the vehicle to honda dealership for service because of a vibration when braking. Tech found rotors are warped. This is the second set of rotors. The first set warped at 13,000 miles and were replaced under warranty. The second set have warped at 11,000 miles. Dealer said that they can turn the rotors but cannot replace again under warranty unless american honda authorizes replacement. I contacted american honda (ah) 1-800-999-1009 on 5/29/15. Received voice mail message from ah on 6/1/15 that they would contact the dealer for information. Received call from ah rep christopher (ext. 117726), on 6/9/15 stating ah would not replace rotors but would turn as courtesy. I asked why not full replacement as 1st set of brakes degraded at 13k miles and 2nd set at even lower mileage, 11k. Rep says many reasons could have caused wear, weather conditions, driving style, weight of the vehicle. I said that if it was weight of vehicle then ah has faulty brake design. Then he said that according to the dealership service department it was my driving style. I said that backpeddling and that they don't know how i drive. I then asked him for the estimated lifespan, in miles, of the brakes and he said they don't have a lifespan. I said that there has to be one, is it 15k or 40k? he repeated that there was none available. I asked him to put their (ah) conclusion in writing, using the assigned case number, n01-2015-05-29-01387. He said ah would not provide anything in writing, but that the dealership would write up a service order. I repeated my request for a written reponse to my complaint and he insisted that ah does not do that.note: vehicle had strut assembly replaced, under warranty, at 6k miles. Under warranty, dealership to have faulty door lock accuators (locks activate after every stop), window run channels/seals, and back up camera circuits replaced. Parts ordered 5/29/15.
At 26608 miles front rotors had to be resurfaced. Honda dealer did this at 'no charge for first time only.' rotors vibrated again at 50000 miles and were replaced independently with non honda parts.now again at 70000 miles the vibration when braking is worse than ever before.brake pads were replaced as well with no improvement.with so many owners having this issue honda needs to address it.
Like so many other odysseys, the brakes vibrate and shake the steering wheelunder heavy braking such as stopping at the bottom of a hill. Honda has come up with new part #, but they say not covered on our vehicle. Should not have to replacerotors & pads at 22000 miles.
The transmission is not smooth at all.rough and delayed shifts.my car minivan only has 35,000 miles on it.
When driving over 100 miles the front brake rotors warp causing a safety problem honda knows this as they have a new rotor that is vented (see bulletina14-00080) that fits from 2011 to 2014 odysseyi think they should be recalled as it is a dangerous thingbrakes are the most important thing on the car
When driving on highway @ 55mph and applying brakes, the steering shakes/vibrates violently. We only have 39k miles on the car. We live in south-eastern connecticut and we don't drive fast anywhere. After doing some research honda has had bad rotors and they refuse to replace the part on their time and cost. Online forums indicate honda have redesigned the rotor, which has eliminated the problem. This issues has nothing to do with our driving style but with our fault fart. I am requesting your supporting in asking honda to do a voluntary recall/replace on this faulty part.
Our 2014 honda odyssey has 41,000 miles on it and we have had to have new brakes three times and rotors resurfaced twice.we just had to have a bent axle replaced. The new axle was also bent so a third one had to be installed.
The steering wheel was shaking at higher speeds when braking.dealer said that the front disks are warped.dealer covered the repairs under warranty (they turned the rotors). ...updated 11/02/15 updated 1/8/16the consumer stated the dealer turned the rotors. Also, the discs were warped. The consumer believed the calipers were not large enough to support the vehicle, which in turn caused the brakes to heat up during braking and warp overtime. Updated 04/07/16.
While driving on the highway and going 60mph or higher, the steering wheel shakes a lot when i start to brake and i have to pump my brakes rather than a slow gradual depression of the pedal like one would normally do or else the van becomes unstable.this has been the case for over a year.

While driving various speeds, the vehicle independently veered to the left and right without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (honda north, 665 evans city rd, butler, pa), but the failure could not be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle operated as intended. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,600. The vin was not provided.

While braking at 50+mph, the steering wheel starts to shake violently. The car currently has 58,000 miles on it. This has been occurring for over a year. We have had the tires rotated and balanced, the rotors and break pads are good. This is becoming a safety hazard and honda needs to do something about this.
Shiny dashboard reflects too much in both driver & passenger side mirrors when the sun hits the dashboard.this is a safety issue because it is extremely hard to see other cars driving behind you when trying to use the mirror. The dashboard & air vents reflect too much in the mirror.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated that the sliding door failed to open without warning . The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Paint is flaking off top of car and before that on driver side rear door
We bought the van brand new from a honda dealership in charlotte nc. About two years after we bought it we started to see the paint peel in the back near the window. We contacted honda and was told it was out of warranty. Today there are probably 4 large areas where the paint is coming off.
The windshieldclip and molding spontaneously became dislodged while driving on the highway while driving at 65moh.
2014 honda odyssey power door does not seem to latch all of the way. 80% of the time when the door is opened, a popping sound can be heard.when the door is opened it is always in a stationary position.i have concerns the door will open involuntarily while in motion.
The rear tailgate will not release in cold weather (typically at freezing or below) restricting all access to the rear of the van.
The rear passenger door on the driver's side does not close properly.it constantly re-opens after pressing the close button or using the handle and must be forced closed manually from the outside of the vehicle.it has gotten progressively worse with time. We try to not use that door which is a safety concern as that is the door closest to me for my children to use. And the other day when my daughter accidentally forgot and used that door, i shut it and we went on to our errands, when we returned to the van the door was wide open, obviously it automatically opened as we left.it is a huge safety issue.i have contacted honda corporate and they have refused to do anything as it is out of warranty.at 4 years old this should not happen. My last honda oddessey was a 2009, it did the same thing, aaa had to come one day while i was stuck at the gym and could not get it to close.they had to cut the wires on the door to close it.now that this has happened twice, i have done a little research online and seen this is a common problem.it is a safety issue and should be handled by a recall.
Our paint is pealing off the roof between the windshield and moonroof. This is most likely going to be covered by honda. We previously had pealing on our hood and had it repaired at our own cost. Honda refused to pay for it. Clearly they have a paint issue by the recall/warranty on the roof/back door paint, how would only those parts be affected? they need to repaint, and or reimburse all of the people affected.
Both automatic sliding doors failed.when opened manually, the drives side sliding door completely popped out and fell off.the vehicle was stationary in a parking garage and had not been used for 8 days.i do not know what component broke to cause this.attached picture is our best attempt to put the door back on.
While traveling northbound on mountain view corridor at approximately 55 mph the sunroof in my 2014 honda odyssey exploded. I have traveled this road many times, it was a beautiful day with mild temperatures and light traffic. I bought this odyssey new. It currently has just over 69,000 miles on it. There were no homes, businesses, parking lots, or anything of the kind around me. No overpasses, power lines or otherwise. There is no explanation for the explosion. I heard a loud pop that i thought was a gunshot or large something hitting my car. I pulled off the road, turned on my hazards, and felt something hit my arm. I looked up to see that the sunroof had shattered. I've never heard of anything like this before. After reading online that many others had had similar experiences i felt like i needed to report it in hopes that others might not have to have the same scary experience (which could have ended much worse), inconvenience, and expense.
Paint is peeling off the top of vehicle
I was driving on the freeway and the sunroof glass cracked/exploded.there was nothing that i could see that hit it.
The right side rear lift area has had a metallic rattle since the car was six months old. It's been to honda four times for this complaint without finding or eliminating the rattle. Honda replaced the lift arm assemble during the last visit. Now the door binds and will not close without assistance with my hand.
2014 odyssey has been changed to include a progressive driver side mirror from the normal flat glass mirror.the glass in the mirror is designed in such a way that objects appear blurred and distorted causing difficulty focusing while looking thru mirror.took car to dealer, they confirmed issue and stated many customers complain about same thing.contacted american honda at dealers recommendation.american honda contacted dealer and confined.at this time american honda is stating it is a "design feature" of the vehicle.not sure how distortion and blurred vision with a safety device is a "feature".asked american honda to document their position, they refused to send me any documentation stating the information collected is proprietary.did search of progressive mirror and there are hundreds of complaints.
(1)paint peeling(2)brakes inferior and don't stop correctly(3)driver back door and hatch open randomly without anyone opening them(4)large clunking noise and jerking when first starting to take off(5)rear camera may take up to 5 minutes to engage(6)error message pops up on screen saying "cannot import call history"(7)back passenger cup holder fell out
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated that while driving the passenger's side of the vehicle was very hot to the touch.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing who stated the heater line is not isolated.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 3600.
Both doors.
Driving down the highway i-66 in virginia going about 55-65 and the rear passenger window exploded inward on my son.
The paint on my 2014 honda odyssey is peeling.the are above the windshield and in between the moonroof has a area of about 6"x6" that just flaked off.
While driving on the highway at approx. 55 mph, i heard a clicking sound and a hissing wind sound coming from thewindshield on the front passenger side.it felt like the windshield was being pulled up and you could see the edge of the windshield molding flapping in the wind. Also, the front passenger door side window was moving back and forth hitting the window frame.

Our 2014 diamond white pearl honda odyssey has a factory paint defect called delamination.the paint started peeling off in sheets / large sections from the roof in january 2019 and then the tailgate in february 2019. The white paint base coat is cleanly separating from the ed primer.american honda usa refuses to take ownership of the problem and actually trying to state this is owner wear & tear?they need to pay for this defect 100% and honda needs to admit this is a wide spread problem affecting all newer white honda's like 2016 hrv, 2015 pilots, fits & odysseys, 2014 pilots & odysseys, 2013, 2012 etc etc. Anything white from honda and even acura, made in their usa & mexico factories.cbs 2 los angeles no has an openand ongoing investigation as well: https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/video/program/1200/4059251-2-on-your-side-peeling-car-paint/all we want is honda usa to cover this defect 100%, and if they continue to sell these white honda's to owners not letting them know the paint will only last between 3-5 years they are practicing in consumer fraud.industry standard is for a cars paint to last a minimum of 10 years under normal use.
Car sustained $8700.00 worth of damage to nose of car. Airbag failed to deploy. Wife sustained fractured rib.
Paint on front roof near the sunroof is peeling off. Will honda take care of this.
Passenger side rear door will not open under any condition. The door will not open manually or via the power door feature. This limits the egress from the vehicle.
Paint is peeling from roof, on top of the windshield and car not looks good. Vehicle is moving and i have seen the paint peek off chips droppedon windshield.
The paint started peeling offin the area above the windshield in the 3rd year of ownership. The dealership (honda of clear lake) did not consider that as warranty when the issue was pointed out to them. An independent quote for fixing the paint (pearl white) was well over $2000. Given that this is a relatively new car, honda must own up the issue and do this paint related fix free of charge, on doing a search on odyssey owners fora, i noted that there are similar issues with the model.
Pearl white paint peeling to expose the primer on the door, hood, roof, tailgate and the edge of the gas tank door. The recall expired in 2019 and i was never notified about the paint recall. I found out in 2021 when i took the van into the dealer to repair mechanical recalls because i had to ship the vehicle out to hawaii. The dealer took pictures and sent a claim to honda, but it was denied. Honda customer service was no help at all and could only direct me to a dealer, which i believe the dealer did what the could by taking pictures and submitting an estimate and claim on my behalf.

Owner hears front end rapping when tires hit rough road or cracks/bumps. Honda replacingl/r struts.
Exploding sun roof.vehicle was in motion on expressway traveling east.loud explosion heard over vehicle.after pulling over an inspection revealed that sunroof had shattered, but due to interior cover closed no glass fell inside. Vehicle was taken into a repair shop after reporting incident to insurance company.repair shop technician advised that he had recently encountered same situation on a 2015 honda odyssey van with a damaged sun roof which appeared to have just popped off. Have contacted honda dealership to see if there has been a recall on this issue and am awaiting a response if covered under warranty.
Paint peeling off the tailgate while in motion on a suburban street. The paint that delaminated ended up on the back window while driving, blocking some of the window above the tailgate. Had to pull over and peel off the window. It wasn't a large blockage but it was enough to notice and surprising. I wish i had gotten a photo of the paint on the windshield but didn't think to do that. Was more concerned about safety. Honda knows about the paint peeling issue but will not discuss it and referred to the dealer. Dealer says it's a known issue but honda will not fix due to vin not being eligible in their database. Why it's not eligible, since it's the same make, model, year and paint color as all the other odysseys with this issue, i do not know.
Too much noise inside cabin.
Hard transmission shifts mostly occur at low speeds while i am in heavy traffic.if i slow down almost to a stop, and traffic speeds up and i accelerate, the transmission jerks violently.
While this isn't a real "safety" issue, honda customer service referred me here to complain.there is an existing extended warranty on the peeling 2014 odyssey white pearl paint, but only for the roof and liftgate. The paint on my vehicle is peeling there... But also on the upper portion of one of the sliding doors.it is peeling off of the primer in exactly the same way as the other areas, and actually started peeling there first, but is not covered under the warranty extensionagain, not a safety issue... Just an unhappy customer complaint.
Parked on a very hot day in a parking lot the electric doors won't open. If i drive the van for a minute or two and stop, the doors will work. This is an intermittent problem. Honda can not find the problem. On the internet, other people have the same issue with their honda vehicles. One person wrote that he replaced the power on off switch on the dash that controls the doors even though his vehicle showed no computer code errors. He said that so far it solved his problem. Honda only looks for computer code error and if there is no error, they say there is no problem.
Driving west on i 80 at 70 mph. All of a sudden there was a loud gunshot sound. Moved the sunroof shade and saw shattered glass. There was nothing around for a flying object. Had to stop at honda dealer in lincoln to have plastic put on to protect from rain. I called insurance when home in wisconsin and had it repaired. The shape of the glass looked as if it exploded from inside toward out. Have since watched news about this problem on abc news.
Sliding door on passanger side closes and after a few second it unlatches from strikers and the chime of the sliding door open starts to sound while driving.
Paint peeling on roof. Color is white pearl odyssey 2014 . I was on the freeway when i heard a flutter and saw what i thought was paper flying through my back window.the next day i saw that paint had peeled off the roof of the van.
My sliding doors do not work correctly and not even sure if they are latching properly. There is a major electric issue with this vehicle and honda is unwilling to address it, there is numerous places on the internet of the same door issues!!!give a place to send videos, i have about 10 i can send where you can clear see that the doors and electrical are not working.also since this is electrical i am on my 3rd battery for this 2014 vehicle, if you test the battery while in car it will test at about 1300+ cranking amps, which the dealership can not explain. Take the battery of of the car and it tests correctly and by more company.. Clearly an electrical issue.the sliding doors will not open under power of the car often, it is as if there is no power going to the door, switches, or the key fab.i do have younger children in the vehicle and do not feel safe and should be investigated.
I have a pearl white 2014 honda odyssey.the paint is peeling under the back glass window near the wiper blades, due to manufacture poor job of painting .this was reported from different people who have the same problems with this model and color.this us a manufacturer problem since people are complaining and frustrated that it's not taken care by honda. I've tried back in may 2020 with an email to honda and asked to take a look but was never called back.i didn't want to go in bc of covid 19.very disappointed. I have a 2004 pilot, never had an issue with paint peeling for no reason .
I went to get something out of my mom's minivan using the door behind the driver's seat. The door when funtioning normally is supposed to open fully when the handle is pulled upon. Instead the when door was halfway open, it started to close. The door then to hit and crush my arm. Thankfully i was not injured. The car was parked on our concrete driveway and was turned off.
While driving on the highway and going 60mph or higher, the steering wheel shakes a lot when i start to brake and i have to pump my brakes rather than a slow gradual depression of the pedal like one would normally do or else the van becomes unstable.this has been the case for over a year.
I own a 2014 honda odyssey, and he driver door sometimes come open by itself when i am driving.other times i cannot get in to the vehicle, because i cannot unlock the doors to get into the vehicle, not even using the regular key. When i park my vehicle, and if by any chance i am able to lock the vehicle doors, then a few minutes later the driver's door come open (not unlock) by itself.i cannot leave anything inside the vehicle, because anyone can just get in. Yesterday, 20 march 2017, after i park my vehicle i was trying to get out and i could not, because i could not unlock the driver's door.a very scary feeling.i had to jump to the back of the vehicle and got out opening the back door. The remote/switch sometimes will lock and unlock all the doors, and the hatch, but will not the driver side door. The other doors after i start the car and start driving would not lock automatic like it should.
Passenger side door won't shut on my 2014 honda odyssey van. I parked the van in a parking garage and we shut all the doors the passenger would only shut half way and then re-open. After about an hour of trying to see if anything was stuck i called aaa and because i could not leave my children alone while i drive the van out of the garage and because i could not drive with them in the van with the door open we had to wait 3 hours for a truck that would fit in a garage. Aaa finally came and said they could not tow the van because the door must be shut for liability and safety reasons. So i am stuck in a garage with 4 kids and no one can help me. At this time my fianc showed up (we were out of town about an hour away from home) and aaa and he decided to cut the cable that is attached to the door and the door shut.. But the door is broken. I called honda owner and made a complaint but from my understanding it's just noted no action is taken in the mean while my almost $30,000 van has a broken door they can is only 3 years old. I called my local honda (they were not very nice) it seems all about the$$ and not the safety of their honda owners. They said they will look at my car for a fee of$140.. I looked up parts online and $400 + so that plus what ever they charge me to fix probably $1000 for something that should not be broken in the first place. People who usually get vans are people that have multiply children. This is a safety issue that needs to addressed asap it's child indangerment to have a open door while your driving down the road. And what if i had to leave it there because i had no one then it would not be secure it would be wide open.please look into this asap this not something any parent should have to go through. Thus situation made me feel helpless my kids were tired, hungry and had to use the bathroom and i was helpless. I couldn't do anything.
On june 21, 2019 my family was returning home from the beach (pcb), and about 3 hours into the trip on us 431 north, around 1 pm we heard a loud boom or pop on the roof. Sound like a shot gun according to wife. We pulled over and sunroof had 16 inch seem crack across the sunroof. One side of cracked glass was raised about 1/4 inch. We continued to drive 25 mph on shoulder as we where in nowhere, alabama. About 3 or 4 minutes later we stopped and 1 x 4" glass hole in sunroof. We continued driving and within minutes the hole became a 1 ft x 2 ft hole in sunroof. Had to have it towed. We passed no cars or overpass's when sunroof exploded for no reason. No houses or businesses within 5 miles according to seale police officer.
Battery exactly after 3yrs 3 weeks battery died as if like trigger event. It's such shame for honda to take these kind of cheap battery. Now i have replaced with new battery which comes with 100 month warrenty i am surprised why honda cant give with new car similar battery warrenty sounds like a ripoff
While driving down the freeway in houston, tx on a hot summer day the sunroof exploded outward. It made a loud crack followed by several smaller cracks. The glass shattered into little pieces. Fortunately the sunscreen cover was closed or we would have suffered faces full of shattered glass, there is no evidence of any other damage to the car such as a brick being thrown at it.
The rearview camera of my honda odyssey 2014 etouring minivan blacks out intermittently when i am parallel parking, which involves shifting gears quickly in and out of reverse and drive.once the screen blacks out, it says black unless i restart the engine and it gets stressful when you are in the middle of parallel parking on a busy street with cars waiting behind you and you can't see the rear of the car.i purchased a car with a rearview camera specifically on purpose due to my young children in additional to living on a street with a k-1st grade school where there is a lot of traffic with young kids.this is my second vehicle with the exact same problem and both cars demonstrated the rearview camera blackout on numerous occasions.the honda and my local dealer instructed by honda now refuses to take in my car to register or resolve the problem.this is a safety issue where a large minivan fails to provide a fully reliable and functioning rearview camera which is legally required to do so by 2018 anyways.honda refuses to acknowledge the defect or fully solve this recurrent problem on many different dates.
My honda odyssey has been hesitating during acceleration,we almost got rear ended due to this issue. I think this is a safety problem that needs to be fixed.
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. While driving approximately 5 mph attempting to park, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle spontaneously accelerated over the parking spot, sideswiped a building, and drove over some shrubs. The contact had to switch the vehicle into neutral and then shut off the vehicle. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The contact stated that this was the third time the failure occurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (harbor honda in merrilville, indiana) and a field investigator from headquarters came to diagnose the vehicle. No defects were found. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000..updated 11/09/17 consumer stated subject vehicle has had problems with sudden acceleration problems on three occasions during the first 25,000 approximate miles. Updated 7/26/18
Ma 10/5
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 mph, the speed decreased without warning. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired.
My honda odyssey 2014 is shaking a lot when speed is accelerated up around 20-25 mph.this iissue happened the first time a few weeks ago.today, this issue happens again.it is scary to drive back home from work today.since this issue happens multiple times, i think it can be a defect, which honda should issue a recall.
When i try and accelerate from a slow or stopped position my vehicle stutters or hesitates before speeding up.it's been doing this now for several months.i noticed it after my filter was changed on oct 26,, 2016 at the dealership.when my sons raised the hood they found the top was not closeddownand locked on the filter.a lot of trash had gotten in there.the problem seems to be getting worse.i've mentioned it to dexter alexander and he had the service guys blow it out but it hasn't helped.this is a $38,000 vehicle that i'm paying on every month.this should' be happening.this is my second odyssey.never had a problem with my first one.please please please figure out what's causing this and fix it.i'd hate for you to lose me as a customer.
In the 6 months that we have owned a new 2014 odyssey, there is a large area of streaking on the driver's side windshield every time the wipers go into resting position. This is a streak about 5 inches wide, across the field of vision for the driver. The windshield is clear when the wipers go to the right, but the streak appears every time the wipers go down.the dealer has replaced the wipers three times in the last 6 months, and polished the glass with steel wool on the last visit. Upon picking up the car, the windshield still had the same issue. The manager stated that honda is "working on this issue", and that there is nothing he can do for us at this time. Originally, however, he had stated that perhaps the windshield will need to be replaced because of a defect.we believe that this is a serious safety issue because of the decreased visibility in inclement weather.
Sunroof exploded while driving down an interstate.
Windshield wavy/blurry:they said i was one of the first of 2014 odyssey owners. But at the first moment of driving i felt something wrong with the windshield. I told the honda sales person that i feel blurry vision while driving. It seems the glass is wavy. He said because i am driving the first time that's why it seems like that. After one week of driving i was so sure about that. When i drive specially in the highway with higher mph i feel dizzy. The honda service person drove and told me that he cant duplicate the problem and the glass is fine. I don't know what to do now i feel dizzy even after few hours of driving. Either there are some problem on windshield or my eyes have problem. The chance of the first one is more. I had honda accord 2012 which one i have traded with this odyssey. Previous one was very pleasant to drive.now i am not comfortable at all.
While driving my 2014 honda odyssey, i heard a loud bang, and when i reached my destination, saw a bow tie shaped hole in the middle of my moonroof. When i heard the noise, i was driving about 40 mph in a local street in start stop traffic during the morning commute. Temperatures were mild, and there were no large vehicles or flying debris around that i noticed that may have caused the hole. I am getting it repaired immediately for safety reasons around my family, and was quoted about $900 for parts and labor.
Rear window exploded when drivers door shut with no unusual force -- just shutting the door as normal.the this happened at about 8am.the car was parked/stationary.the shattering left a hole about the size of a bowling ball behind the driver's side.glass flew everywhere; luckily my children were not in the back seat at the time.interior and exterior air temps were not extreme.there was no evidence of anything that hit the window.several people were around at the time and nobody saw anything unusual.
Shiny dashboard reflects too much in both driver & passenger side mirrors when the sun hits the dashboard.this is a safety issue because it is extremely hard to see other cars driving behind you when trying to use the mirror. The dashboard & air vents reflect too much in the mirror.
Moon roof glass exploded while on smoothly paved highway. No apparent cause. No other vehicles were nearby to throw a rock. Explosion was loud. Shattered glass fell on driver and passenger - at 70 mph [speed limit].
The contact owns a 2014 honda odyssey. While driving various speeds, the contact had difficulty determining if the vehicles in the rearview mirror were behind or beside the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the issue was due to the mirror being designed in a concave manner. The dealer stated that the issue could be remedied by replacing the mirror with a regular one. The mirror was not replaced. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was operating to specifications. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 10.

Metal valve stem cap were installed on tires when i got my car brand new. Yesterday i tried to open the cap for refill, they are unable to open due to corroded metal. I believe this is due to manufacturer defect. I believe opening up a tire valve cap should be easy, but found it impossible. I did not want to break the valve or damage myself. I am forced to drive on tires not properly inflated.
American honda motor company - manufacturers defect with the van's rear suspension, resulting in the van's alignments being uncorrectable since the date of purchase. American honda has known about this alignment and suspension defect issue with the 2014 honda odyssey's and has chosen to hide the design defect from the public.honda dealers know there is an issue but there are no authorize american honda oem certified fixes to the problem. The honda dealers defer, that there is nothing they can do until honda issues a fix to the suspension/alignment issue.the result, unsafe vehicle and the added continual expenses that are a direct result of american honda's concealment of the issues with the vans.quick searches online, document many other honda odyssey owners with reported identical issues, as well as other honda owners (keegan v. American honda ' class action certified). American honda's own actions confirm and indicated that they recognized and acknowledge the issues i presented with the van and my claim. American honda directed me to bring the van to a honda dealer for inspection ' autopark honda. The van was reviewed, determined defective, and unfixable with any readily available oem honda parts as verified by a recognized honda certified ase master mechanic.if the van was manufactured to american honda's own oem specifications and standards, then any oem honda parts would readily be able to be replaced with the defective oem rear suspension parts and correct the alignment issues at once.this is not the case.the vehicle by american honda's own admission is not fixable with any oem honda parts.american honda's own findings confirm, validate, verify and support the facts that the vans inherent manufacturer's defects exists in the rear suspension of the van and validates my initial and open claim since 6-7-14 inv hocs332080, at 317 miles.
