The 1998 honda odyssey recall for ignition switch i don't believe included all vin numbers affected. My van is having the exact issue for what is stated in the recall, yet my vin does not show as a recall. When the switch is turned to the run position, the dash lights may or may not illuminate. Once the van is started, there is a 50/50 chance that the stops running because of the switch. I believe this is an issue that needs to be looked into. Has not been confirmed yet because we are awaiting service on the airbag recall to put the van into service.

The key will not come out of the ignition. I took it to palm harbor honda, and they charged me about $100 just to look at it, after which they told me it would be $800 to fix it. See that there has been a safety recall for 1999 odyssey minivans, and wonder if the ignition switch i have may pose a safety risk as well. In any case, i am very disapointed in this whole situation. This car is my 3rd honda, and will likely be my last.

The previous owner of this vehicle had a nhtsa recall performed at the local honda dealer concerning the replacement of the electrical portion of the ignition switch.aknow the vehicle can be turned off and the key can be removed while in any gear.i am very concerned that i may turn the vehicle off, exit the vehicle while it is still in drive and it will roll away and run over someone.this is the same recall nhtsa issued for 1998 honda accords as well as 1999 honda odysseys. I own an auto repair

Just another owner wishing recall # 03v423000 applied to the 1998 honda odyssey in addition to the 1998 honda accord. Since at least a year before that recall we have been able to remove the key from the ignition ofthe odyssey while the transmission was not in park. On occasion the car rolled forward or back until it bumped something or rolled part way into the street. When the honda recall came outthe dealer howdy honda in austin said that it did not apply to the odyssey, and honda dealerships did not have an internal service bulletin to fix odysseys if owners complained.

We were just told that our 1998 honda odyssey needs a new transmission for $4,000.this would be the 3rd transmission replacement in this car since we've owned it (we're original owners).that's triple what the car is worth.we have taken immaculate care of this car and there is no reason why the transmission should die so often.is there a class action suit we can be part of?

This transmission failed and i put another one in and it failed within two days. I have looked online and found out that everyone is having trouble with these transmissions. I think honda should replace these problem transmissions with a recall. I don't have $1,500 to put in a new transmission every day or two.

Check engine light came on.stopped at autozone to have them read the code.the code p0740, indicated a tcc failure.upon consulting with the honda dealership on my 1998 honda odyssey, and consulting the internet, determined that this was a common problem with 1998 - 2002 honda odyssey's.honda offered no help.the car had less than 100,000 miles on at the time.

Transmission failed.

Consumer states vehicle has been experiencing problems with the transmission, the check engine light has illuminated on several occasions indicating a problem, the transmission has been flushed several times, the torque converter has locked up due to clutch failure.

The check engine light on my 1998 honda odyssey came on while driving vehicle. I took it to a repair shop and they told me that the vehicle registered a problem code of p0740-torque converter clutch circuit malfunction. I researched the problem on the internet and found that this is a common problem for hondas which should be reported to the nhtsa.

Transmission replaced at 90k miles.have read that many '98 honda odyssey's had transmission problems and many were replaced instead of simple repair.they replaced mine and refused to recall or assist with repairs.

Diagnostic code p0740 - we are being told entire transmission needs to be replaced (even though it still seems to be working for now).i wanted to report it after seeing lots of complaints on internet forums from odyssey owners who have had low mileage transmission failures.

Visor contains spring which jammed and caused visor to jam; when daughter (on learner's permit) tried to move it the metal broke and visor came down in her face. Luckily she was going fairly slow and is left-handed so she jerked the car to the right (because her left hand was trying to get the visor out of the way) - the car rolled up on the curb blowing both passenger side tires, but did no other damage. However, if this had occurred five minutes earlier when we were on the interstate, things could have been much worse.

The sunvisor broke off at the point where the electric cord comes out of the bracket .then hangs by the cord blocking my vision.had to stop and tie it up with shoe laces, until i got home the next day and removed it myself. Ii did not get rough with this it would have broke for anyone.now i have no visor if i need one and it is not good to have things hanging in front of your eyes at 65 mph thank you.

Consumer states 2 of the 4 tires had to be replaced due to inner wear.(no other tire info given)

Tire tread separated at 55mph. Able to get to road shoulder without injury but there was damage to front bumper. Called goodyear, they said that "no goodyear tires have been recalled. Goodyear shop gave pro-rated replacement of tire but said that this model no longer manufactered. Bumper still not repaired. As per news media, goodyear has a "silent recall " for certain 15inch tires.if so,they should be responsible for bumper damage.i am also concerned if remaining tires pose a safety hazard. The honda dealer has taken great care of my car until this event.i was in a parking lot, backed up and barely hit a pole with the rear bumper. Then i put it in drive, and the car took off at full speed out of control, burning rubber, even though i was hitting the brakes, pumping them, trying to stop. I only had time to swerve to avoid a parked car, then went into a brick wall and the car was totaled. The air bags went off. The mph is an approximation based on the cars damage since i could not look at the odometer under these emergency circumstances.i was only slightly injured, but i will have to see a chiropractor.

Very prone to an accident as car unexpectedly leaps ahead.

Visor on driver side broke while driver was attempting to put it down to block the sun.when it broke, it dangled in front of the driver and blocked the driver's vision of the road.fortunately, the driver was able to grab the visor and hold it out of the way and regain sight of the road before causing an accident.the supporting metal arm separated at the point where the wire for the mirror light exits the arm.it would appear that there was a defect in the design and the casting.*nlm

The sun visor snapped off while being adjusted.it broke due to metal fatigue at the place where the power cord for the vanity mirror light exited the support shaft.the stress concentration caused by this exit hole guarantees that this part will fail.this could easily cause fatal accidents if it happened at high speed.

Design of power sliding door is experiencing failure.
