Airbag indicator light comes on and stays on all day. Dealer contacted, they said that it might be a malfunction.*yd

Air bag sensor light comes on intermittently due to a srs control unit failure. Dealer notified.

We turned on the ignition to warm the engine a bit at about 9:50 on the morning of sunday, august 6, 2015. After a couple of minutes, the passenger-side airbag completely exploded. The car was not in motion, it was parked, so there was no reason for the airbag to deploy. We suppose that it must be defective. The sheer force of the airbag deployment resulted in a large, circular crack on the windshield, with smaller hairline fractures. Fragments of black plastic were propelled throughout the interior of the vehicle. A strong smell of burning plastic ensued and filled the interior of the car. We will not drive the vehicle until it has been properly inspected, as we fear that the driver's side airbag might also be defective. Unfortunately, the honda dealership our insurance company directed us to will not be open until tuesday, september 8 due to the labor day holiday. This was a very frightening situation. Thankfully, we were not driving at the time of the incident, and so nobody suffered personal injury-but this airbag malfunction might well have caused wounds from the flying materials and shards of plastic, an automobile accident-perhaps with multiple people involved-or severe injury, possibly even death. Though we feel grateful to have avoided the worst, we are still without a vehicle due to a mechanical defect not caused by us.

Srs warning light stays on. Dealer diagnosed an srs control unit failure.will cost $780 to install new srs control unit.

The airbag srs control unit failed.the dashboard light notified us of the problem.the dealer replaced the unit; the total cost was $666.95.the car is only five years old and many owners would not have the money to replace the unit.no warranty coverage extends to safety equipment as a lengthy ten year warranty covers pollution systems.the dealer offered to disable the airbag system if we chose to not fix the control unit.

Srs control unit defective and non-functional.srs now inoperative.

My srs light came on and i took it to the dealer and was told the problem was srs control unit failure and the repair cost would be approximately $700.i took it to another shop to get another opionion and was told the same thing.this man was previously a shop foreman at a honda dealer and said this was a problem with my model and advised me to call honda cust. Service for a possible reduction in my repair amount.the customer service rep. Said they would pay 25% of the repair costs, but they technically didn't have to pay anything.when i asked to speak with someone in management i was told that they were too busy.i see from your web site that other honda odyssey owners have complained about this problem and was wondering if there is anything else i could do to get honda to pay for the repair of this safety related problem.

Abs & srs lights on.dealer claims system failures with expensive repairs.your database shows 11 previous similiar reports.the srs component was recalled on the same year accord.is there a connection?please investigate!

Srs warning light on. Dealer wants $623 to fix. Said isolated event and should not happen.

My 1995 honda odyssey had been in the shop three times for srs warning light. On the first 2 visit, which were under warranty the srs system was reset and i was told no problem. The last time which was 3 months after the warranty had expired, i was told that the car required $800 dollars of repairs.i have contacted the dealer and honda .i feel that this system was defective all along and honda should at least share the cost of repairs.i contacting you in hopes that you can jump start the dialog between myself and honda.thank-you

Consumer stated that air bag light came on. Had it checked, and was told thatair bag module was defective. Also, consumer wastold that theair bag module had to be replaced at the tune of $1500.00.she was afraid that it would deploy without proper warning.

Srs unit kit failure.

The air bag light came on.the air bags have never been deployed.this seems like a safty issue.they want me to pay $800.00, for something i have never used.

I don't know if this is a takata recall or not.my srs light came on as i entered my neighborhood.i smelled a burnt smell.i parked under the car port and put the car in park.i was about to turn off the engine when the passenger side airbag deployed.it broke the windshield, the glove box and the rear view mirror.

Srs light stays on. Took car to mechanic, who suggested we report it to you organization. He said this is the 3rd honda odyssey with this same problem that he saw in the last couple of weeks (kensington simca svc 301-564-1377)

No deployment ofdriver's/passengers side air bags during accident, causing injury.

Consumer hit a deer with front end of vehicle, and airbags failed to deploy, in an separate incident vehicle was hit on left front bumper by another vehicle and airbags did not deploy, one year later the srs light comes on when the vehicle is cranked and will not go off until the switch is turned off.

Electronic sensor for air bags failed prior to any accident. Took car in for repair when indicator light went on. Per dealer sensor is bad, air bags would not deploy if car was in accident.

The vehicle's air bag illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they replaced the sending unit.

Srs and abs are defective in my car. Srs relay is bad and abs is leaking air.lights are on in car.

I was driving in the neighborhood near home at around 20 mph in a speed bump area. I suddenly became aware of a strong burning smell inside the car. I slowed, pulled over and realized the check engine light was blinking. Seconds later an explosive sound erupted. The passenger airbag inflated. It collided with and cracked the windshield, broke the rear-view mirror mount and threw plastic chunks around the car. Some plastic struck me. It took a few minutes for the powdery smoke to diminish. On inspection i found damage to the glove compartment door and to the dashboard on the passenger side. Nobody besides myself was in the car, fortunately. There was only a hat on the passenger seat. After taking some phone pictures i turned the car around, drove it home and parked.

While driving, theair bag warning light illuminated. The was dealer notified.the srs light would always come on and was disabled for no reason except for the control module failure.there was no air bag deployment in the two minor accidents. *scc *ph

Airbag light came on, dealer installed new sensor.

Srs module shorted and had to replace at a cost to me of $689.95this safety item should have been replace by the manufacturer

Srs light stays on--bags never deployed-dealer wants $800+ to replace module.this is second complaint i've made on this subject. Reading about others on the www.odyclub.com website prompted this action. I'm afraid it will either deploy unexpectedly or not deploy when needed. If this was a seatbelt problem or child restraints honda would fix it--they should fix the srs module also.

Vehicle, 1995 honda odyssey, randomly and suddenly stalled--engine suddenly quit and dash lights wentout.engine would not restart, then would start but immediately quit when ignition key was released from start position.also, dash lights behaved abnormally when trying to restart-- they all blinked together in random fashion, or together dimmed and went out, or simply would not come on at all.this stall, or failure to start and run, has occurred whether the vehicle has been warm and running for 30 minutes or more, or has been parked and cold overnight.this random stall has now happened while driving in the middle of high speed heavy traffic.but for a fortunate opening and quick maneuver to a safety lane, we and probably other motorists would have crashed, burned and died.we are not driving the vehicle for fear of something like this happening again but with tragic results.we have just learned there have been separate government ordered recalls for this problem years ago in australia and in canada.where has the united states of america been?owned by big business and big money?on an eight year vacation with george (worthless) bush?both, i'm sure.

Srs electric control unit

1. 1995 honda odyssey occasionally stalled but would start again.2. Molten solder came out of ignition switch and fell on driver's foot.3. Pain and surprise nearly caused accident.4. Car stalled and would start but stop immediately when key was released from "start" position.5. Am currently replacing ignition switch which was the source of hot metal.

Srs and abs light on. Have been on for years.looks like many many others have had similar complaints and honda accord had arecall on one of these???? what is the nhtsa doing about this.

Nav system changes to 'when turned on'reads downloading +, then changes to'check disc' honda said new disc needed. I purchased one ,installed with same results. This also affected the rear camera, visual of info, like radio, etc.local dealer no help.

The van lost power at highway speed and had to be shut down and restarted.there may be a faulty ignition module, although no "check engine" light occurs.

Intermittent failure to start or immediate stall with all dash lights going out.next, it stalled while i was going through a busy intersection at rush hour.i managed to avoid a crash and turn into a driveway.it started up after a few tries.it is now at a local repair shop.mechanic says it is ignition switch failure.i would have it towed to the dealer, but for some reason it is not included in ignition switch recall #02vi20000.will have local mechanic repair, would like honda to reimburse.

Consumer was experiencing intermittent starting problems.when key was turned to start, engine will start; however, upon releasing key to spring back to run position, engine would quit.consumer seeking reimbursement.(nar)*la

On my 1995 honda odyssey, the electrical part of it has caused our vehicle to stop running for no reason while we are driving - that has happened to us twice in the last six days.also, when we turn the key to start the vehicle, none of the instrument lights will come on.in reading other things, my problem sounds just like the problem that brought about the 1997 model year ignition switch recall.

Ignition switch failed and the car just died! and would not re-start found that van would stay running if key was turned to the run position and held there once you let go of the key the car would die, this is a very serious problem that needs to be addressed as there are millions of honda's out there that may possible have a faulty switch and the car will die with no warning very dangerous!!!

I needed to take my son to the dr.'s office and when i went to start my 1995 honda odyssey it wouldn't start.i had to hold the key on in the run position, give it gas and put it in drive and it was able to go.car seemed to be ok after that and i had to take my disabled father-in-law to run errands we went ahead.while waiting for him to get a rx, i had the car running as it was a cold day and my 3 year old was in the car.it quit running after a minute and i wasn't able to start it again for a few minutes.told my husband about it when i picked him up and he checked the oil etc. And then it seemed to be fine.next day my husband was driving home in traffic and the car died on him right in the middle of driving!some other drivers helped him push it off the road and then someone used jumper cables and it started running again. After a few minutes it died and would not restart.after checking battery connections etc. And trying to get it to start again, finally after an hour it started.went to auto parts store and had battery tested - was at 1/2 capacity so replaced it thinking it would solve the problem.on the way home from the auto part store it died again right in the middle of traffic.we did research on the web and discovered it is the same problem that was recalled on later years with the ignition switch.called the dealer this morning to see if our vin # was on the list and it is not!!! i do not understand why i have to pay for a problem that is known to exist because my car year is not on the approved list.it is exactly the same part for our 1995 honda odyssey as for the 1997 ones + that were recalled.

The vehicle experienced a problem with the ignition switch, there was a recall regarding the issue, however the vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.

(1) no prior events before failure(2) while driving 1995 honda odyssey (stalled ?) quit running source of problem is ignition switch. I was able to restart vehicle but had to hold key to maintain electrical connection for engine to run.(3) presently looking for parts to repair

The ignition switch failed.

Van would not start and ignition switch needed replacement at a cost of nearly $550.1995 odyssey was not included in last year's recall but i suspect switches are faulty among all early models based on complaint reports on this website and others.

Ignition switch burnt up while traveling with family causing the motor to shut down including all power (brakes, steering, dash indicators).seems to be the same problem that honda recalled on 1997-2000 vehicles.the vehicle is a 1995 honda odyssey with 128000 miles.the switch failed several times on a 4 hour drive home before finally failing completely the following day.honda chooses not to cover this defective part, since the vin doesn't match their database search with the 1997-2000 recall.

Ignition switch failed, causing vehicle to stall intermittantly (very, very dangerous when pulling out into traffic!) and making it nearly impossible to start (key had to be held between acc and on).swith disassembly revealed molten pitting on one contact.filing contacts restored normal operation, but copper now lacks silver plating, which may accelerate corrosion.new switch purchased from dealer for $60 and diy replacement took approx. 15 minutes to install (two screws and several harness clips).vehiicle was not covered by honda recall for later (and mechanically identical) models.

Ignition switch would have to be turned on and off several times before it would work, dealer replaced switch.

1)driving down the road going 70 mph, its a beautiful day on the interstate in tn.2)engine quits without warning.struggle to get to the side across 2 lanes ofheavy semi traffic.van restarts.arrive home, will not start.3) replaced ignition switch.

Ignition switch has failed on my 1995 honda odyssey ex.

While driving home from work at the kennedy space center on sr 405, the engine suddenly shut off and could not be restarted.hot melted solder from the ignition switch dripped on my foot burning me as i was trying to maintain control of the vehicle and come to a safe stop off the road.the car could not be restarted and had to be towed to a repair shop.the ignition switch had failed, overheated, meltedand had to be replaced.

There is a recall for a faulty ignition switch for the 1997 odyssey, which has the same body and drivetrain as the 1995 odyssey. This van was sold 11/15/01.

Electrical fire inside driver's side door.where instrument panel (windows/door locks) is.driver's door (material, buttons, plastic) is melted and burnt badly.the van was warming up, 3- 5 minutes.smoke was pouring out when i went to get in and the door was on fire.snow kept the fire at bay until the fire extinguisher was used.the smell of burnt plastic is still horrible, even after leaving the doors open.checked the fuses the next day for the door and window locks and the inside of the fuse was burnt to a crisp. *la

Fire broke out inside driver's door interior while driving. Suspect failure in power window, power door lock or power mirror control assembly. Fire completely or partial destroyed driver's door, driver's seat, front windshield, header, mirror, sun shade, moon roof, and steering wheel. The entire inside of the vehicle is covered inside with black stuff from the fire. My wife and child were lucky to have gotten out of the vehicle before being burned.dt

The engine seized while driving.the oil cooler o-ring broke because of cold weather and the oil rapidly flowed out.

Due to the design of the muffler the vehicle vibrates, the muffler came detached from the vehicle, causing a hazard.

Air conditioner fails to cool the vehicle sufficiently.

Purchase car new there is a bad odor when you put on the air conditioner mold .tt

1) abs system:the abs light has been coming on when the vehicle is started.i have added brake fluid to the resevoir, although this fixed the problem only temporarily.from my research, this appears to be a fairly widespread problem with this make and model year.2)air conditioner:the ac makes a loud clunking noise, with a certain amount of vibration being felt quite strongly when applying pressure to the gas pedal.the problem diminshes when the rear ac is turned off, and dissipates completely when the ac as a whole is shut down.

Door locks continually locked.

Consumerindicated thathis girl friend'sdoor locked, kept locking and unlocking as if someone was playing with the locks.

Door locks constantly lock up.

At about 25 mph or 1500-2000 rpm the van shudders or shakes. I've seen multiple complaints for this on various internet forums.the vast majority attribute this to the transmission.under mild acceleration the van will shake or shudder with a fair amount of force.this occurs frequently and is disconcerting to lose even a small amount of control of the vehicles movement.dealer told me to change the gas.no resolution yet.

Rear seat belt does not secure child safety seat, leaving child unsecured. *sd

Rear seat belts fail to hold child safety seats in place securely. *dsh

Lap and shoulder belt in rear seat had retracted around child's neck after child unlatched belt.when it retracted around child's neck it left a red mark around child's neck.seat belt had locked, and had to be cut to get loose. Contacted dealer, and dealer statedseat belt was built according to government regulations.

When the far rearrestraint was released itretractedwith passenger still in the restraint.owner had to cut the restraint.manufacturer has been notified and will repair the vehicle.

When the left back restraint was released, it retracted with the passenger still in restraint.owner had to cut the restraint to release the child.the right back restraint initially was slow in retracting, now it is locked and fully retracted leaving the restraint completely unusable.

I have also had to replace an exha ust manifold @ $550- onthis car purchased new. I now have an abs light that may go back on due to faulty modulator. Please advise # of modulator failures and/ or any recall. Also , there is noise in speedometer that dealer cannot detect.
