Driving at 30-40 mph when a car ran a stop sign. Hit this car with my vehicle's front bumper. The airbags failed to deploy on my car.

While parking the 2010 honda insight in my garage,i have to veer to the right and then back the car to get into the garage. As i was veering to the right and close to the house the insight suddenly accelerated, and when i put the brakes they did not respond ,instead they locked and the vehicle continued to accelerate it hit the side of the house, part of the air conditioner pipe on the brick wall, hit shrubs and a plastic fence & the 4x4 poles buried in the ground bent and were sheered/ the impact deployed the air bag which hit me in the face and the leg causing an abrasion.

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight. While driving 30 mph, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed. As a result, the contact crashed into the preceding vehicle. The air bags deployed with force and injured the contact's face and lower back, which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The inflators were replaced 3/24/16 and 7/29/16. On 7/5/17 my son was hit by a man running a red light. To make a long story short, my son suffered numerous injuries including being knocked out by the airbag and continues to suffer from the concussion - i know the old airbag/inflator would have been worse. Also, the seatbelt bruised his chest and the doctor thought he had heart damage. Echocardiogram showed everything was fine - just bad chest bruise.my concern is that even though the inflators were replaced they, the airbag/inflator, still caused damage. 14 months later and still having issues with tbi.my son is 5'11" and sits as far back as possible when he drove the car. I'm sending 2 pictures so you can see that the car was destroyed. This is just an fyi.

Takata recalli was informed of the recall on my car in january of 2016. I called my nearest honda dealership (concord, ca) which said they'd send me a letter when they got the parts. They finally fixed the drivers side airbag in july 2016. At that time, i was informed that the passenger air bag was not replaced and that i'd get another letter in the mail once the passenger parts were in. It's january 2017 now and i still haven't heard anything. I'm moving 6 hours away from home in august and need my car repaired.

Takata recall. I received a recall notice rfom honda of america in march 2016 warning of the takata problem. They stated that replacement parts would be available in the summer of 2016 and that i would receive a further notice when they were available. I have not yet received that letter. So i called honda of america and they could not tell me if parts were available. They passed the buck by telling me to call my dealer. I did so and found that parts were available. So i have scheduled the replacement . My complaint is the lack of responsiveness on the part of honda and my dealer. Either one should have contacted me when parts became available. Why is honda motor still allowed to do business in the usa. They are either inept or crooked!

Takata recall. Received recall notice, saying that i would be notified when dealer had the replacement parts with an expected date of summer 2016. I emailed the dealership, but have yet to hear from them. The car is currently parked in garage. I don't want to sell or trade until the car is safe to drive, but this has gone on for a very long time. I just checked the honda website. Their completion rate is less than 50%, yet they are seemingly very happy with that rate! that's outrageous!

Takata recalldealer says it is not receiving parts from honda for this problem. Is there any way to urge honda to move faster. I suspect the car may wear out before the dealer receives part to effect replacement.

Takata recall. I have called my dealer multiple times to find out any information regarding getting the airbag replaced and the dealer will not call me back. I have left multiple messages they are left unanswered. This recall came out over a year ago and it still is left undone. The other dealers around the area won't even take a look at it.i do not feel safe driving my vehicle. The dealers should not be treating the customers this way especially when it comes down to safety.

Takata recalli received my first notice of the recall in march and another in july. The local dealer has yet to have the parts for replacement and just keeps telling me to call at the end of the month every month since march. This is extremely annoying to have limited use of my passenger seat and have no concrete date for a repair.

Airbag recall. This issue was supposedly fixed a few years ago and then i received another recall notice almost a year ago about another air bag recall. Honda has yet to fix this. What is the hold up? i contacted honda a few months ago and they said they haven't received the part. When will my vehicle finally get fixed?

2010 honda insight.consumer writes in regards to no dealership response on replacement parts/ repair information for driver front airbag inflator recall.

I received a letter from american honda motor co. Inc. In march 2016 notifying me of problems with dricer's front airbag inflator. No accident has ocurred yet.

Takata recall.it has been 9 months since the recall. Honda has not sufficiently provided a solution to the issue. Their recommendation of having the front passenger seat for such a long period of time is not only unrealistic, it is also inconvenient and ultimately, unacceptable.

While pulling into a parking place at a neighborhood grocery store, i stepped on the brake and the car accelerated with a huge lunge into the car facing me. If the other vehicle had not been a large van i would have not have been able to stop the car because at that point i lost complete control of my vehicle.just thinking of what 'might have been' is terrifying!in searching the internet i found at least four of these unintended acceleration accounts..... Same car, same year, same model.no recall yet but there should be.damage is expected to be around $5k.

I was in a very minor accident on 12/6/14 at approximately 6:00 pm in austin, tx (on loop 1 near fm 2222).i rear ended another vehicle.the airbags did not deploy because i was not going fast enough (i guess).however, the computer indicated the air bags were disabled.additionally, the driver's side seat belt was locked making it inoperable.although the car was drivable, the inoperable airbags and seat belt made the car extremely unsafe to drive.being that it was saturday evening, i had no choice but to drive it.i am very upset that honda put me in this situation.according to other honda owners who have had minor front end collisions, this is the standard car response.this needs to be rectified.it is not only a racket that forces honda owners to take their cars to the dealership, it also jeopardizes our safety.

Takata recall, i have two car seats for my son and daughter in the back seat of the car which makes it impossible for us to follow honda's suggestion to not allow passengers in the front passenger seat. Honda has stated that they are not providing rental vehicles. I've contacted honda about this issue and been given a case #. However, it has now been 4 weeks since my initial request for a rental car waiver from honda and no one has responded to my claim. Upon calling honda on the 11th of august, i was told that no one at their customer service center could access case files. So, now i can't even get an update on the progress.

I was driving my car in september and i hit my break to stop my car.at that time, my break did not work. I finally hit another car and my airbag deployed and exploded. That was happening upfront dickinson town binghamton ny 13905. I had repport from the police. The recall number i received from nhtsa is 18v-661.

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight. The contact stated that the vehicle would hesitate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. After hesitating, the vehicle would jerk forward. The contact also stated that while driving, the tacometer would display erratic readings as low as 1,000 and as high as 6,500. As a result, the vehicle would accelerate and decelerate uncontrollably. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer, where they were unable to duplicate the failure. The contact also stated that the vehicle was experiencing an electrical failure because it would routinely need to be jump started. The battery and cables were replaced on several occasions, but the failure continued. The failure mileage was 18,800 and the current mileage was 19,000.

Car is 2010 honda insight. Car has small engine that needs assistance from electric motor. Electric motor helps the car during acceleration and climbing. The car should not charge the battery on climbs. As a result of this, extra load is added on the engine during climbs. With a 1300cc engine going up a grade, this could be very dangerous as you don't have enough power to climb at a certain rate other cars are capable of. If you visit insightcentral.net there are alot of complaints about this. Honda needs to re-program the cars not to force charge during climbs. I understand that if the battery was very low or drained that force charging on climbs are a necessary evil. But my battery was 75% full!!!

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight hybrid. While driving approximately 25 mph there was a very high volume electric static noise. The contact stated that it was painful to his ears and gave him an instant headache and suddenly he began feeling very tired while driving . The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure could not be diagnosed. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was nothing mechanically wrong with the vehicle so they could not assist him. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

When i purchased my vehicle, i advised the dealership that the car seemed to not want to assist as i was going up hills. I have taken it to the dealership, been able to duplicate the issues, but the dealership nor honda sees anything wrong with the car. They state that their engineers see nothing wrong with the car not assisting someone as they are going uphill, at a steady grade. I have filed complaints with honda, but again got no where. The car now is randomly not assisting at times, when the indicator in the ima system states that the battery has half a charge.

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight hybrid. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact mentioned that the vehicle resumed normal operation thirty minutes later. Honda insight hybrid - unpredictable acceleration combined with locking of the brakes caused the car to move forward at an accelerated rate with no control, twice in a short time span. First incident was dec.2011, second in jan. 2012. This did not happen in previous 1 1/2 yrs. I owned the car. I had an accident the first time going very slowly up a hill at 10:am with clear roads. The light was red and i braked to slow down and when crawling, slightly released the brake to roll forward, but the car accelerated 6 feet from a small truck in front of me.i felt like i was being pushed from behind. I pumped but the brakes were locked. Car went forward very slow uphill. I tapped the truck. My damage was a small chip in my plastic plate cover. His fender fell down. We reported the accident and will impact my insurance. I then decided to get snow tires. Second time was in front of a college, in rush hour traffic, slowing down for a red light. There were kids, cars allaround etc.,everyone slowing down, coming to a stop. There was snow and ice on the road. I had new snow tires, i brake, the car slowed down, i released the brake a little, instead of maintaining the slower speed, the car accelerated. I brake again quickly, but i was on ice and the brakes locked. I slid as if being pushed.i turned into a small snow bank just in front of the sidewalk and the car stopped.i took it to the dealer who checked for 3 wks. They said no problems. Suggested the floor mats? several other 2010 insight owners had similar problems all who said the dealership could find nothing wrong. If it was the floor mats it would have been happening all the time! i asked the dealership to buy the insight back from me. I took a $10,000. Loss. I am so relieved it's worth it. Note: i'm in canada so i had to put your address in order for my complaint to go through. All car problems in na sb together.

As i was going to park my 2010 insight into a parking spot between two cars, the car suddenly lunged out of control hitting the car on my left, then proceeded to slam into a metal barrier in front of the spot, then flew up on the right side and slammed down onto the car on my right.i had no use of the brakes or control of the car.the metal barrier broke the car from moving--had it not been there my car would have dropped to the level below onto parked car--it could have been fatal. I live in ca and this is deemed my fault--although it was beyond my control.i did some research online and found on one website that 17 consumers experienced a similar accident/issue.there have been no warnings about this problem with hybrid vehicles--except the toyota recall.these cars are an endangerment to the the driver, as well as other drivers and people in the vicinity of the car if they are walking near it.here is a google drive link of pictures from the scene: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1m1wkrxoocxhkirznu0fedkiez7gkby28please note that this incident is costing me thousands of dollars as well,i'm currently not working and because of my fear of the car i now have to get a new car, my insurance rates because of the accident will be 4 times what it was and i have my deductible to fix my car which has $3300 worth of damage.

When i stop or take off my car excelerates on its own. Or it jerks.i am afraid it will hit someone or make me go out into the traffic.also my airbag light comes on when i put a large object in the seat not a person.

When i stop or take off my car excelerates on its own. Or it jerks.i am afraid it will hit someone or make me go out into the traffic.also my airbag light comes on when i put a large object in the seat not a person.

I was driving on an road with no traffic and came upon a red light. As i applied the brakes, i experienced an acceleration surge while braking. I could feel the brakes working but the engine began to rev up and was trying to overpower the brakes. In desperation i pushed the shifter into neutral (n). The engine continued to rev for a moment then returned to normal. Then i was able to proceed and the insight acted normal.

Unexpected acceleration when braking. While attempting to stop at a traffic light i experienced an acceleration surge while braking. This happened numerous times on this trip. Almost every time when i was coming to a stop andi applied the brakes the engine would increase rpms. This gave me an opportunity to analyze what was going on with the car. The revving of the engine was directly affected by braking. Simply removing my foot from the gas pedal and coasting did not result in the engine surging. When i shifted out of drive and into neutral, the engine would momentarily exceeded 5000 rpm almost red lining and then return to a normal idle. I stopped the car, turned the engine off and opened the hood looking for ice on linkages, fouled air filter or anything unusual. There was nothing that looked out of the ordinary.i then proceeded to drive the car home experiencing the same issue with every braking action. The next morning the car acted normally.

Unexpected acceleration when braking, this is a recurring problem. I was driving about the speed limit on secondary roads ~40 mph no traffic and the roads were clear of ice and snow and the engine was warm, the instrument panel indicator for cold engine had extinguished. I approached a red street light i press the brake pedal lightly, there were no cars in front of me(foot clearly not on the gas pedal) i expected the car come to a leisurely stop by coasting with little braking help. The brake pedal felt stiff, resisted the pressing of the foot. The engine began to rev up and i also noted the battery ima charge/assist gauge went higher into the blue (ima assist). I applied more pressure to the brake pedal the engine accelerated more and assist gauge increased further into the blue area. I repeat: the brake pedal feels hard like putting your foot on a rock, no give. I now know this is the first sign there is going to be a braking issue. It happened every time the problem occurs! but the problem did not occur every time i stopped on this trip.when i brake and the car and the car goes into auto-stop mode there is no issue. When the unexpected acceleration occurs i can shift the car out of drive (d) and into neutral (n) the engine will momentarily race, exceeding 5000 rpm, almost red lining, and then return to a normal idle.it should be noted that the problem persisted thought the trip with the car being shut off and parked for a short time (2 occurrences) restarted and driven again. Only when the car was left for hours including overnight did the problem go away, my guess is 19 hours.

When the speed reaches about 8 mph while coasting to a stop, with no driver acceleration or braking, the car suddenly accelerates as though it was changing gears. The insight does not have a geared transmission ... It is a cvt. The auto-stop light is not lit when this occurs. This happens very frequently. The dealer was not able to reproduce the problem. I was not in the vehicle when he took the insight for a test drive. Based on my observations of other drivers, very few would let the car coast that slowly. It is very annoying and disconcerting.

Hi, i bought a brand new 2010 honda insight from chicago lisle honda dealer.it came with old navigation software, it didn't have latest software. Even my address and near roads are missing in navigation display.i called honda and honda dealer, they were asking me to pay to get the software.i didn't call after 6 months or one year.i calledthem within a month from the date of purchase.since i bought a brand new car (up coming year model), i am expecting it should come with latest available software. But honda representative was keep telling that it come with whatever the software was available when it was installed. If it is hardwarethen what they are tellingmight be correct but if it is software then they should provide to the customer for free of costif the software is available with in 30 days from the date of selling the car. Thanks.

Initially was notified that part of the drivers side tail light was out. Night time tail lights consist of 9 led lights in an l shape. At that time 3 of the 9 bulbs had failed. Tried to purchase replacement bulb and was informed the entire tail light assembly had to be replaced and wasn't covered under warranty. Dealership said they would research and contact me.never heard back. On 2/8/2015 was driving at night and another car pull up beside me at a light and informed me i had no working tail lights. There was no indication on the dash that all of the lights had failed and that no one could see my car from behind. Research online indicates this is not an isolated incident and that numerous 2010 insights experienced the same issue. It appears to be a defect in the led bulbs that causes them to fail in groups of 3 until none are working. Total cost to replace what honda considers "bulbs" is $422 each.

Two tail lights assembles failed.entire unit at $400+ per unit at dealer plus labor. Purchased replacement units on internet for $225. Individual led's not replaceable.owner replaced units. Advised by other moterest at stop light in city.

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight. The contact stated that both tail lights failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated the tail light assembly would have to be replaced. The driver's side tail light assembly was replaced but not the passenger's side. The vehicle was not further repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Recently, the driver's side rear tail light has been flickering and i was stopped by a police officer who told me that my brake light was not working. He gave me a verbal warning and told me to have it repaired right away. My mechanic said that the entire light assembly would have to be replaced. He suggested that i do a vin check to see if this problem fell under a recall. Unfortunately it does not and i will have to pay for the replacement which i understand is quite expensive.it seems that others have had this same problem.

Tail lights led is flickering and lights are burning out premature i jave been pulled over for this and also almost been rear ended due to lack of light lumes

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight. The contact stated that the rear driver side tail light burned out without warning. The contact also stated that the rear passenger side tail light was in the process of failing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the entire rear tail light assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

This vehicle was sold without any means of securing the gas cap or fuel access door.because of epa emission restrictions there is no functional aftermarket device made for this vehicle.this is a serious safety issue.there is no way to restrict access to the fuel tank of this vehicle, of serious consideration when the vehicle must be parked in unsecured locations either on purpose or at such times when the vehicle may become mechanically non-operational.my wife takes the vehicle on her visitation trips into areas where she is required to leave the vehicle unattended for hours.she could be isolated in these unsafe areas easily due to someone removing the gasoline from the tank or someone putting foreign material into the tank thereby damaging the vehicle.honda's intentional omission of some type of locking device for this vehicles places anyone who uses this vehicle in unnecessary peril.because it is a known condition on this vehicle, the vehicle becomes a ready target for anyone willing to vandalize the vehicle and people who would prey on people unable to defend themselves in questionable circumstances.honda must provide some means for securing the gas tank of this vehicle and provide a device which also meets the emission requirements of the federal government.

When i stop or take off my car excelerates on its own. Or it jerks.i am afraid it will hit someone or make me go out into the traffic.also my airbag light comes on when i put a large object in the seat not a person.

April 9, 2010 my husband and i were pulling into the garage of our home when our 2010 honda insight going about 2 miles per hour would not stop when my husband put on the brake. The car crashed into the inside wall of our garage causing damage to the front end of the car, garage wall, and destroyed a sitting bench that was in front of the garage wall. As a passenger in the car, i saw my husband who was driving the car put the brake pedal all the way to the floor and the car would not stop! we had no control of the vehicle, and absolutely no brakes. After we crashed into the garage wall, he placed the car in reverse and once again the brakes would not stop the car and we ended up in the road.the entire time my husband had the brake pedal to the floor and the car was not stopping. This was the first time we have encountered a problem with the brakes since we purchased our vehicle. We were extremely fortunate that there were no other cars in the road at the time or that we were going 50 mph down a highway. There are two witnesses other than my husband and myself to this incident. The car was checked by a honda dealership found-no problems with the brakes.blamed it on weather(45 degrees that day) or a thick floor mat could be the cause. Refused to say it was the brakes when my husband and i know it was for a fact it was the brakes or a computer glitch.i was in the car and watched what happened.it was not the floor mat or the weather!

My honda 2010 insight - vehicle rolls back after releasing brake going up hill.this intermittently happened since buying vehicle last year around 2/30/2015.last year around the month of june - aroll-back caused vehicle to roll-back on a curb on right side and rear tire hit curb pretty hard.i confirmed later the bearing had a noisy sound after that (the vehicle always had a slight much lighter noise while driving). We heard a slight louder rubbing sound after that roll back on a curb incident.dealership told me hybrids has slight noise due to battery electric sound.months later after the roll-back bearing damage, i asked about issue with a mechanic shop, they told me issue sounded like bad bearings, and i was told to get shocks checked too.i was unemployed - and they told me most people can drive with bad bearings for a while.here is more detail on the roll back - it happens, while moving foot from brakes to gas paddle.when the roll back happens - it's after i release brakes on a slop.i had to quickly hit gas or move quick to breaks again- due tosometimes i in stopped in traffic on a hill, and i can't hold the gas due to forward motion in stopped traffic, so while hold brake with right - i move my left foot to brakes and then right foot over gas - when able - move forward (and i release my left foot from brakes).my daughter drive more than me, and told me not to hit brakes to quickly or quick multi-tap & release brakes before i stop, she is right this issue happens less now that i slowly move foot from gas to brakes going up hill). That was when i learned to coordinate footing on a hill. I found it's sort of expensive to fix tire bearings at the honda dealership, and my vehicle was over 70,000 miles at that time last year - from honda.i am ready to get roll-back, and hopefully bearings fixed by honda too.

The car was traveling at a very slow speed (<10 mph) in aparking lot with the driver attempting to maneuver the car into a parking space.the driver was applying no pressure on the gas pedal; the car was in deceleration.when the driver stepped on the brake pedal to stop, the engine accelerated and the car lurched forward unexpectedly.as a result, the car went over the parking barrier into the base of a parking light causing significant front end damage to the car ($6,000).the driver has experienced a few other situations where the car acted in a similar manner.we believe this unexpected acceleration issue poses a serious safety hazard.we are working with the local honda service department to isolate and fix the problem.

While braking hard to avoid impacting vehicle stopped on highway seat belts locked up and now will not release.honda diagnostic incorrectly states srs system was triggered by impact - car sustained no damage.recommendation is to replace front seat belts at $345.62 each and srs control unit at $680.42, plus labor.american honda customer service states that the seat belt system performed as it should.it is logical for passive restraints, like air bags, to work only once, but illogical for seat belts to fail after one use.apparently honda considers seat belts that works once a success.in fact this active restraint system failed after one use, leaving honda drivers unable to obey the law and buckle up while driving before they pay $1500+ for avoiding a collision!

I was driving my car in september and i hit my break to stop my car.at that time, my break did not work. I finally hit another car and my airbag deployed and exploded. That was happening upfront dickinson town binghamton ny 13905. I had repport from the police. The recall number i received from nhtsa is 18v-661.

My complaint is about my car i had an accident on september 26, 2018, in binghamton ny. My airbag was deployed, the seatbelt was damage, and also the front bumper. After i had the accident i received a recall paper and when i verified the number i found i had a recall. I called and talked to them, i also send the first complaint. They sent me an application i filled it out and sent it back. When i call they said to me they still working on it. I recently received another recall paper i called just to be inform about everything.

2010 honda insight. Consumer states the driver side seat belt malfunctioned and broke during an accident *tgwthe seat belt came off the side panel of the vehicle and then the buckle came out of it's holster. The consumer stated her chest slammed into the steering wheel at high force. The consumer had to go to the hospital via ambulance. Updated 10/18/10

Severe neck and upper back pain caused by the headrest angle of a 2010 honda insight which i am told is mandated by your standards. I am a 5' 6" female.the head rests forces my head forward to the point where my chin is almost resting on my chest. And i'm forced to look over the top of my eye glasses which i am required to wear to drive.i have tried the headrests in all positions.the dealer suggested putting the seat back down lower but i amunder md orders to drive with my seat upright due to a prior back and shoulder injuries.you standards need to be changed to allow head rests to be adjusted farther back to accommodate people of different heights, weights and physical issues.i think forcing people to drive with distraction of constant pain will cause more accidents and injuries than less than optimum headrest design.

I bought honda insight 2010 lx model back in jan 2011. Car seats are very uncomfortable and causes pain in the back. I have been having on scale 1 to 10 level, around 1, pain in my lower back body.i would like to file a complaint against honda car seat conditions and like some action to be taken.

I had accident and air never opens.

2010 honda insight. Consumer writes in regards to defective braking system. *ldthe consumer stated the brake was depressed, but the vehicle continued to accelerate. The vehicle traveled through a stop light at an intersection, over a barrier, dropping approximately 30 ft and was struck by oncoming traffic.

I was driving my car in september and i hit my break to stop my car.at that time, my break did not work. I finally hit another car and my airbag deployed and exploded. That was happening upfront dickinson town binghamton ny 13905. I had repport from the police. The recall number i received from nhtsa is 18v-661.

Approaching stop sign at low rate of speed-i applied brakes and instead of stopping car reved up and went forward into path of oncoming car. Other person received minor injuries,i received bruises and soreness (2 of my airbags deployed) my car is a total loss, complete front bumper off, frame bent, hood bent

Honda incyte 2010momentary loss of braking ability.

The car won't stop completely and keeps going for another 2 to 3 seconds if it hits a bump during braking. My car is serviced at the honda dealer every 5000 miles since i got it back on july 2009, therefore, it couldn't be lack of maintenance.

While approaching a red light at a low speed of 35 mph or less, i began to apply the brakes which did not engage.i hit the driver who was stopped in front of me.the impact caused front end damage and the air bag to deploy and required a trip to the er i am seeking assistance from my dealership and/or honda.

In january 2012, my car the 2010 insight, "unpredictably accelerated, then at the same time, the brakes locked". This caused the car to move forward at an accelerated rate with no driver control.it happened twice in a short time span but did not happen in the previous 1 1/2 yrs that i've owned the car. I had an accident the first time. It impacted my insurance. The second time i was lucky. I do not want to risk a third time.i'm an experienced careful driver and these incidents were not normal. I have driven trucks, vans, cars, automatic and standard in every type of canadian weather. This happened twice in the same way causing a loss of control. I was going 1 mile per hour the first time, while slowing down for a light. I felt like someone was pushing me and i went very slowly uphill into the rear end of the vehicle stopped at the red light. The second time again i was slowing down for a light, going 2 miles per hour on a flat surface. I had to go off the road and hit a snow bank to stop. I detailed the incidents and escalated to honda canada and my dealership. I gave the dealership the car to test.i want to trade it for a civic. They tried to blame the problem on the floor mats which is not logical since the problem did not occur every time i braked. After keeping my car for 2 weeks they replied, completely ignoring the locked brake aspect, and told me they could not find a problem with the acceleration system. So. Their official documented reply ignores the primary problem, deals with the secondary problem and denies there is any problem. I have to persist. I don't want to die or hurt or kill anyone. A recall is warranted. I am reporting the entire matter here, because after they replied saying there is no problem, i searched online where i found other similar complaints. Note: i live in canada. I used your state and zip code as there was no other option.

The steering wheel doesn't come back to center at all.and this has happened to others as you can check in this link: https://www.insightcentral.net/threads/steering-handling.21905/so if you leave it in a degree it will stay like that. You can make a curve by setting the steering wheel in the angle and then letting go of it and it will not move. This has a range, if you make a 90 turn it will comeback near to center after that. Not fully.for me that i'm used to all the cars to return to center it feels pretty weird and i'm adjusting the way that i'm used to drive.that's why driving in the freeway coming back home felt so unsafe.

A bolt that attaches the steering wheel to the steering column was found to be loose during a vehicle repair. (i brought the car in for repair to a honda dealership service department because the steering didn't feel right and made unusual sounds during vehicle operation.) despite my having an extended warranty on the vehicle (and the malfunction being a clear safety issue), honda refused to pay for the repair performed by a honda dealership. "[xxx]," an employee of the honda service contract department (she wouldn't give her last name), said the steering issue was considered an "adjustment" and therefore not covered by the warranty. The honda dealership service department, for its part, said the bolt was at risk of becoming looser and impairing steering of the vehicle if the repair were not made.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Weather stripping on 2010 honda insight passenger side detached from the front during highway driving in new mexico. Just purchased certified used car with less than 3,200 miles. 6 days and counting on repair of weather stripping with honda dealership in washington state.

Moulding seal around rear triangle (non-opening) windows detached on both driver and passenger side of car creating an unsealed window and causing rubber 'strips' to flap while driving at a speed over 35mph.soon after, the entire rubber seal on passenger side door detached allowing moisture and other elements to enter the vehicle.took vehicle to dealership and was told that moulding is not covered by the manufacturers nor extended warranty that was purchased and that repairs would cost a minimum of $800. I called honda america to file a complaint and was told they do not maintain a database of defects.i have owned hondas in the past and have never found them to be so shoddily constructed.i own a 1968 vehicle that still has all moulding in tact.unacceptable.

There is obviously an issue with the paint used by honda. Our other car - a toyota - which is 3 years older and same color kept in same conditions is looking just fine - however the paint on our honda's roof and hood has disintegrated. It looks awful. When picking up my car after a tire rotation at costco - a gentleman recommended i contact honda. I did. They basically said - oh well, too bad. We'll make a note of it in case something comes up.

When i originally purchased my insight, i noticed that the weather stripping was folding up. I had the dealership replace it, and within 2 days, the weather stripping flew off as i was driving down the highway. I went back to the dealership, and they replaced it again. 3 months later, same thing happened. The weather stripping, came off as i was driving causing a traffic hazard. This time i went to a different dealership, and their solution was to put double sided tape on the weather stripping. Its now been 2 weeks, and the ends of the stripping is coming up again.

Window door moldings made aout of rubber are britle and desintegrating making the window loose therefore making the interior of the vehicle noisy.apparently the quality of this rubber are very cheap it does not last more than three years.by the way it cut one of my fingers when i was cleaning the window.i told a honda dealer service advisor about this, and she kindly told me that she doesnt know why all hondas do these.....well, 'it's because honda is using cheap materials," i told her. If you are going through the same situation as me, please file a complaint.

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight. While driving approximately 70 mph, the exterior rubber trim detached from the vehicle and onto the highway. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem.the approximate failure mileage was 22,000.

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight. The contact stated that the hatchback failed to open. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic computer box failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight.the contact was driving approximately 55 mph when he began to hear an unusual slapping noise from the roof and could see something slapping against the rear window. The vehicle was pulled over and the contact found that half of the weather stripping from the roof had fractured from the vehicle. He removed the entire weather stripping and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was repaired. The failure recurred one year later. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 4,000 and the current mileage was 24,020.

That was when i learned to coordinate footing on a hill. I found it's sort of expensive to fix tire bearings at the honda dealership, and my vehicle was over 70,000 miles at that time last year - from honda.i am ready to get roll-back, and hopefully bearings fixed by honda too.

My 2010 honda insight failed its safety inspection due to excessive wear on both front tires at approximately 17750 miles. The wear was not in the tread depth but in the rubber between the tread and the sidewall of the tire. The repair shop showed me the spots where the rubber was already down to the second layer. They encouraged me to take the car back to the dealer who only checked for tread depth and told me the tires were fine. I went back to the original repair shop and replaced the two tires and had a front end alignment done. The results of the alignment indicated that while both wheels were within spec, they were both at the outer edges meaning my wheels were facing like this\ /. I took the tires and the alignment report to the dealer and have heard nothing since but i receive a discount coupon for wheel alignment every month from honda. I would have thought that i had a one of a kind problem but the repair shop has told me that they have found and corrected the same problem on multiple insights in the past 5 months.

Front driver's side coil spring broke. No accident/incident to cause it.only 51,000 miles on car. I've never had a coil spring break on any car i've owned (including 17 year old subaru with 131,000 miles.seems to be a defective part from honda. Curious if others have reported this issue.

Vehicle purchased 07/12/2010 with 520mi on odometer on 3 different occasions a wheel sensor for the tpms has failed. The first two were replaced under vehicle warranty, no questions asked. Took the vehicle to hendrick honda of bradenton florida ( the only shop to do any work on this vehicle!) on 09/04/2014 i took it in for an oil change and the tpms error that i'm so getting used to...the service adviser stated it would cost over $200 dollar to replace (not in the budget this week). He would not tell me which wheel had the bad sensor ( i just wanted to know if it was a new fail or an old one) shop would not give me that information!!!! i asked for the tpms system to be disabled and was told that it cannot be....it is federally mandated system...now one would think the wheel sensors are part of the mandated system right? no, they are not said the service adviser ...a federally mandated systemwould by description be equal to the sum of all of it's parts correct???noeven this being the third failure in 4 years they would not replace a major part of the vehicles safety system with a pattern of failing. So now they cross rotated the tires, and i have no idea which is the bad wheel....safety first.

2010 honda insight - tire pressure monitoring system will indicate a low tire when tire pressure is within normal limits. Service manager at local dealership states that sensors are not accurate. They are supposed to alert with a pressure that is greater than 25% of the recommended (33psi) but will frequently alert at much less difference.

I had accident and air never opens.

2010 honda insight.consumer writes in regards to vehicle acceleration issues.consumer sent additional correspondence.the consumer stated as he was braking, he experienced an acceleration surge. He could feel the brakes working, but the engine began to rev up trying to over power the brakes. In desperation, he pushed the shifter into neutral. The engine continued to rev for a moment, then returned to normal.the dealer upgraded the software. However, they were unable to find anything wrong with the vehicle. The incident happened a second time, as the consumer was driving. The dealer tried to alleviate the problem by updating the software. However, the consumer continued to experience the problem on an intermittent basis. The consumer noticed on one occasion, the battery ima charge/assist gauge went higher into the blue. Also, the brake pedal would become stiff.updated 11/04/15.

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight. The contact stated that while pulling into a parking space, the vehicle jerked forward andsuddenly accelerated. The vehicle crashed into a building and the air bag did not deploy. No one was injured and the front of the vehicle was damaged. The police were not notified. The insurance company was notified. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they would need to inspect the black box for further information. The failure mileage was 25,000. Updated 7/31/12 updated 08/01/12

I leased my 2010 honda insight hybrid at maroone honda of hollywood florida in the beginning of july 2010.two weeks after, i noticed a hazy pattern on my windshield in the evening (or shade) when it rains.i brought it to the dealer and explained what i was seeing and that it was not on the outside or inside of the glass.they polished and cleaned the windshield. With the next rain it was still there.i researched auto windshields and found that there is a film laminate between two layers of glass that make up the windshield and called my salesperson.i have a photo and explained the makeup of the glass. Nobody at honda seemed to be aware of a windshields composition.i insisted on a new windshield and went to have service on my car thinking that they would replace the defective windshield.i showed the photo and actual problem parked in the shade to the service advisor, rocky whitehall ,and he showed the problem to shin, the service manager (september 7 @ 7am)they polished and cleaned it again and i refused to leave.rocky showed me another insight with the same problem inferring that this is normal.my estimated clear visibility is 1/3 at night with rain, horrific glare from oncoming headlights, streetlights and stop lights.honda of hollywood has not contacted me yet.autonation responded to an email.i am still driving under a very dangerous cloud when it rains.i know that honda just wants me to disappear thinking that the problem will disappear.i am contacting the press to get them involved and a lawyer..please help me resolve this matter.i guess honda thinks that the toyota disaster will not apply to them.it's a shame because i am all for hybrids.i love the insight and its great gas mileage and how it drives.this is very disheartening.

The contact owns a 2010 honda insight. The contact stated that he was unable to see when a vehicle was located to rear left or right hand side through the rear window. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since there was nothing that could be done in order to correct the problem. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 32,000.updated12/31/12 updated 01/03/13

When driving at night using low beams visibility is decreased.the top half of the entire windshield looks as though it is heavily tinted making it difficult to see the road at nite.when switching to high beams the tinted look goes away.

I am driving this honda insight from last 2 years and lately i found that when i drive on highway at the speed more than 60 and open the rear window panes the car makes lot of noise and shakes. When i reached out to honda dealer per the dealer that is buffets only, i am not satisfied with the evaluation done by the service manager at the dealership, and honda always sending me to dealer for the review.
