Dec. 30, 2015 i purchased a honda hr-v lx, on jan. 9, 2016 2:34 a.m. I was driving home on a city street and suddenly the drivers side steering wheel airbag deployed unexpectedly causing my view to be obstructed, resulting in the automobile leaving the road causing extensive damage to the right side front & back wheels, tires, wheel assembly and undercarriage.a trucker witness the event and immediately called the police. He stayed with me because i quickly got out of the car since i thought it was on fire due to a strong fire odor a smoke. I've never experience anything like this before until my mother arrived. At 2:50 a.m.2- birmingham police officers surveyed the car and issued an incident report for damage since no accident took place, meaning i didn't hit anyone or anything and no body damage was seen, i was about 5-mins from home. I was more shaken up that injured. My nose was just sore for several days and did not require medical attention.since my new honda was not drive-able, the aaa road service was called, the towing service arrived at 4:10 a.m. And i had it towed backs to to the dealership where i purchased it. They said that this was highly unusual, i must have hit a pot hole in the road that caused the air bag to deploy. The road in questioned that i was on is a newly paved road, no the pot hole assumption didn't ring true. There was thought a pothole leaving the dealership december 30, 2015 when i purchased the car and the airbag did not deploy then. I contacted honda america and was advised to file a claim with my automobile insurance company. My car is still at the collision shop with total damages $9,282.92. I will be glad to furnish you with the honda case number: 04389710 & police incident number:.2016-00005625, and alfa claims number:

Driver 1 traveling eastbound in the blvd and gets distracted and collided to parked vehicle 2. Driver 1 swerved the wheel to the right to control the car but vehicle 1 overturned and came to rest.

I have been in two car accidents and none of my airbags went off . In 2017 i tried to keep from hitting a deer . My car went down a embankment and i had 10,000 dollars of front end damage.my airbags didn't deploy i had head injuries and a broken nose due to hitting the steering wheel. 2nd accident i was stuck in traffic a stand still. 10/2019 i was hit from behind by two cars who pushed me into a vehicle in front of me. No airbags went off. I now have spinal injuries and permeated neck injuries.

The contact owned 2016 honda hrv.while driving at 40 mph in the middle of a three lane highway, another vehicle made an immediate left causing the contact to crash into the vehicle head on. The others vehicle rear passenger side door was damaged. The air bags did not deploy. The drivers seat belt retracted causing the contacts stomach to become swollen and bruised, a neck and shoulder injuries were sustained. The contact required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was totaled. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and they sent the vehicle to claims department. The failure mileage was 29,900.

Vehicle was in a front end collision without airbags deploying. Vehicle was in motion on a city street approaching an intersection when vehicle in front abruptly stopped. Driver received concussion from striking steering wheel.

My air bag light is on. Honda told me the wiring to my air bag sensor is not working. Problem was discovered after i brought in my car for an oil change.

The passenger airbag light comes and off when no one is sitting on the seat or without anything being in the seat. Comes on for a few seconds then shuts off like someone is sitting in the seat. It does go off when someone is sitting on the seat or if i put something large on the seat. This happens when i'm driving or just sitting.

December 27, 2019 my daughter caitlynn was driving her 2016 hrv lx on ira hicks blvd near 341 east in ft valley georgia. A semi-truck pulling a lowboy trailer was stop at a rail spur crossing with the rail arms down and red lights flashing. The brakes fail causing her car to crash into the rear of the semi-truck. The airbags did not deploy in the crash. Caitlynn sustained minor injuries to the face and neck.

Pedal brake makes a "click" sound when is pressed driving at over 35 mph. Honda servicetech at local dealer says is expected as the pedals has links and switches after brake pedal.louder "click" sounds at the area of gear shaft plastic cover in parking position when car is stationed and brake pedal is pressed. Honda service tech. Says is expected once this model has electronic parking brake with switches in that area.at front of the passanger side in the dashboard a visibleline that rises a structure under the plastic liner in a rectangular shape whit aline crossin from side to side, increasing its appearence with the heat by sunlight exposure. Honda service tech. Explains is expected in all this models once the air bag would deploy through that apparent window when is properly triggered.rear camera images screen sporadically blurs and tremble when is dark and low ouside illumination is present. If window switch is deppressed at that moment either up or down and keep extra pressing would show in the camera screen a low and high discrete illumination, like that seeing in a voltage variation in light bulbs. Since all scans, inspections, and comparisons with alike vehicules, done at the local dealer service deparment, passed as expected, is my personal concern of safety and quality of the product to post and or share this informationfor possible safety issues that may arise related to this observations.

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. The contact stated while driving approximately 48 mph, the contact's rear ended another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. In addition, the driver's side seat belt fractured. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to her chest and neck that required medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure was 1,200. The vin was not available.

To cancel a tire inflation warning at approx. 17,000 miles,i popped the hood of the vehicle to access the negative battery cable with the intention of disconnecting +reconnecting to clear warning.instead i found both neg.+pos. Cables unsecured to both battery posts.i contacted american honda to report this defect, request a battery replacement, electrical system test+error code retrieval.this extremely dangerous situation may have permanently damaged the vehicle+despite my numerous calls to honda,i've yet to receive a response.this is a build, sales+service problem that should not exist on any new vehicle sold.symptoms prior to discovery=dimming headlamps@idle,poor transmission+engine response, reduced mileage+intermittent burning smell.i was fortunatemy vehicle never died in traffic or caught fire.my case number with honda=05755540.again, my concern is that the factory in mexico, the selling dealer in temecula and the first servicing deaer in anaheim(@10,000 service)never verified that the battery cables were properly secured for safe operation.my mechanical service experience+dumb luck should not be a substitute for honda's failure on multiple levels.short of "i'm very sorry" from the person taking my initial complaint, honda has done nothing to correct the described problem.

I purchased my hr-v (ex-l with navigation) in may 2015 and have had this problem since the first week of driving. I was told by honda service that my hr-v needs a software update, but that there is not one available yet (it has now been 1 year). When i am driving, at any given moment, the entire display screen goes black / shuts down and reboots to the honda screen. I have no navigation, radio, bluetooth phone connection or any display whatsoever. When the screen comes back on, it has remembered my destination most times and asks if i'd like to continue to the destination, but this is very unsettling to say the least, especially when i am in an unfamiliar area. Also, the radio freezes up and wont play any sound - using xm radio, ipod, am or fm, nothing comes out of the speakers until i "jar" it by putting a cd into the slot, then i get to hear the cd. This process of the radio freeze ends up locking up my ipod and leaves it unable to reconnect until the battery completely dies and i recharge it and start over the next day. My main safety concern is when the entire screen shuts down / reboots while i am driving and there not being any available fix for this as far as my honda dealer is telling me.

Today at 1:30pm the car completely stopped. When the car was turned on the lights and electronic panel was showing in yellow and flashed rapidly. The car completely stopped, but the lights and electronics kept flashing. The systems on the electronic panel kept flashing and the car will not start. One week ago, i noticed when i started the car, the car shook and the engine struggled to start, the lights on the electronic panel flashed but they stopped and i was able to drive it. This is the third time that i noticed the flashing lights, in addition, i noticed for a few months that during driving, the steering wheel has become more difficult to turn when i was making turns. It was as if the car had no wowed steering capabilities and it continued up to this point. Also, i noticed that the car drove as if it was losing its brakes.i'm sorely disappointed with this vehicle because it is fairly new with less than 8200 miles on it. I bought it for my retirement and now i think that it will become the early death of me.i noticed that there were recalls on this vehicle for these very issues and i need my car fixed asap.

The start/stop button stops working. Left me stranded away from home. Battery in key fob was replaced and car battery is new. The button has to be pressed multiple times to start the car. The button has stopped turning off the car as well. Multiple attempts to press the button to turn off the car are needed as well.

The push start button on the car only works sometimes. You have to take your foot off the brake then reapply an try again multiple time to try an get the car to start, you have to push the button once an twice really fast an keep doing it over an over til the car finally starts an you have to do it over an over again to get the car to shut off. The car is only 3 years old.

Pressing the start button isn't automatically turning on or off the car.i have to keep pressing it in order for it to do either.i can't rely on the vehicle if the start button isn't doing what it should do. This has been happening consistently for about 2 months now.the consumer stated he wanted to rescind the complaint, the vehicle is under warranty and will be taken into the dealer to be fixed.

As i try to start car using push button starter, roof lights, dash lights, and touch screen starts flashing and beeping. This has happened twice and this time it was 2 weeks after a service where everything was checked.

T.p.m.s. - light comes on regularly, without tires being at incorrect pressures. Random occurrences sometimes tires are low, sometimes they are perfectly set. This is a "safety issue" and concerns me, as this could cause a wreck. The tire pressue monitoring system is faulty, honda repair facilities have been unable to correct the issue. I have repeatedly taken it to two (2) honda dealerships' service departments - one in brunswick, georgia (nalley honda), and the other was in loves park, illinois (napleton honda). Technicians and service managers in both places have stated that honda "does not have a fix for the issue". I have advised american division of honda's corporate office in california concerning this issue. This is an ongoing problem, wherein honda still does not have a fix for the problem. Their tpms system on the 2016 honda hr-v is unsafe, unreliable and will lead to crashes. Thus far, i have been told to simply "perform a reset" if the dashboard light irritates me...

Check charge system light came on.took it to dealer, coggin ft. Pierce, they said it was a faulty sensor but was safe to drive until new sensor came in.drove it and whole system shut down on the road while i was driving.had it towed to dealer.they replaced the sensor and told me that was the only problem.i called honda usa to see if a bad sensor could shut down the whole car, of if it was something more.they gave me a case number 05226970 and said someone would call back within 24 hours, 3 days later i haven't received a call back.am very, very nervous about driving the car.i told this to the dealer and they said they didn't blame me!!no resolution from coggin honda of ft. Pierce, no resolution from honda corporate office

The start button does not turn on or turn off the vehicle. Unable to rely on the vehicle. Service states to replace the fob that did not alleviate the issue.

My air bag light is on. Honda told me the wiring to my air bag sensor is not working. Problem was discovered after i brought in my car for an oil change.

The way we start our engine is using a fob key device.the problem we have is that sometimes we have to press the start/ignition button a few times before the vehicle turns off and on.most of the time we have to keep pressing the start/ignition button numerous times (more than 10 times) to turn it off /on. We took it to a honda dealer and we were told they could not fix it.the said the part needed to fix the problem was not currently being manufactured. I asked if i could pay for it now so that they could notify me when the part was available, they said they can't do that because they don't know how much the part would be or when it will be available/manufactured. I asked how i could find out when the part is available? they suggested i call back once a week to see if the part is available.we are still making payments on this car. We have not driven it since we were told it could not be fixed because we are scared the car may not turn off/on during an emergency and we may be severely injured or killed if we ever have to turn it off/on during an emergency. I also called many key shops, car alarm companies to see if they could fix it or replace it with something else. Everyone told me they could not fix it. I have read online that is a major problem with honda vehicles.i asked the dealer what i should do if i am somewhere and i can't turn on/off the car? they suggested for me to call a tow truck and tow it to my house. I asked them what they suggest i do next.they shrug their shoulders and said 'i don't know'. This problem started about a year ago but is now worst. See attached paperwork from dealer.

It first started out by what i thought was just a issue with me having three new tires bc it would drive as if it was scrubbing. One day i was on my way back from a hair appointment and came to a complete stop and the car went from being in drive to neutral and flashing with the brake light so from that moment on i pulled the car over and put it in park and turned it off and hit the electrical park brake to make sure that was not the issue. Crunk back up and was on my way. So today 11/30 which is a week later i was at the red light stopped and once the light turned green i released my foot off the break and gently pressed the gas and the car acted as if it didn't want to go.so after still lightly hitting the gas praying it would move enough to get out of the roadfor me to park it in front of a store; i made it directly off the highway into the store parking lot. Once i got it there i put the car in park turned it off and back on. I then ried to put it in drive and reverse and it wouldn't move.assuming it could have been a transmission problem but none of the lights on the dahs came on. Another issue that has been occuring a year after i purchased the car new,the monitor shuts off and on in the car and goes back to the original honda link screen every time it restarts.

A heated seat malfunction burned a hole in my pants and melted my driver's license. It likely would have burned my skin if my wallet had not been there.while driving home from a hike, in the driver's seat, i used the heated seat on the high setting. It was a sunny day and i and my clothes were dry. As we got close to home, after maybe 15-20 minutes of usage, it suddenly felt uncomfortably hot. I turned off the heated seat.i didn't notice the damage until later that night, when i biked to a nearby grocery store and pulled out my wallet to pay for groceries. I noticed that my driver's license (the top of which protrudes out from my wallet) had suffered significant heat damage, with a pea-sized brown spot and distortions of the material around it. The driver's license was lightly stuck to the card behind it (my health insurance id card), which also suffered slight distortions in the material but no brown spot. I then noticed the matching dime-sized hole burned in my pants' right rear pocket, where i keep the wallet. The edges of this hole were singed.i suspected the heated seat since it was the only heat source i had been around. Upon returning home i inspected it and found a matching dime-sized hole burned through the cushioning of the seat where my right rear pocket would be, with an exposed heating element now visible through the hole.

Foot brake becomes frozen solid at start up.unable to start car.i was told to press very hard and should be able to start car.have not always been able too.this has happened about 9 times over the course of 2 years. (new issue)2 days ago i had issues trying to start the car up(thought it might be battery related) all these warning lights came on (brake, tire pressure, engine light (total of 6 lights)i was able to drive so i went directly to dealer.i was told i had rodent damage and the cost was $424.i still have not picked the car up as insurance needs to see repairs.i learned that honda is now involved w a lawsuit due to the change from plastic wire coating to soy based product which is drawing rodents to feast on wiring.i contacted corporate and was told they would not pay for this under warranty.i.m still paying off a hefty loan (2 years left) and i have no guarantee this will not happen again.what a nightmare.seems to me if company created this issue they need to come up with solution to assist customers because this is a financial nightmare as well as a safety nightmare.how do you know your wires are partially eaten or in the process of being eaten while you are driving.you dont!

My honda hr-v started leaking water while parked. The water that entered the vehicle was substantial (see attached pictures). The water leakage was determined a third party contractor that the dealership hired after failing to detect the source of the leak after having the car for over a month. The water was leaking in through a faulty seal in the windshield above the drivers side door and was traveling down the side curtain air-bag plastic molding and getting behind the dashboard. The water caused electrical damage in the car that made lights and relays start tripping out, eventually the battery died. The car was parked during the incident and i found the damage afterrain storm. The carpets also had to be replaced due to being water damaged and possibly lead to mold. The rainstorm that came through was significant, however this problem could have been going on without my knowledge to a lesser extent. Due to the way the water was getting into the car it could be almost undetectable for an extended period of time since all of the damage is hidden by plastic molding.the car was bought brand new from the dealership, never had an accident and never had the windshield replaced. The car was completely stock as far as the affected parts go.

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. The contact stated that while using the push to start/stop button, several attempts were needed to start and sometimes turn the vehicle off. The contact stated that the smart entry system warning light was illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact informed that the start/stop switch assembly needed to be replaced.the contact stated that a local dealer was contacted and was awaiting a call back. The manufacturer was not informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 51,961. Consumer says that local dealer did not contact them. Vehicle was taken to dave's import service, inc (medford, or) on 06/19/20 and repaired. *dl

On 12/28 9:00pm, was driving at 73mph on us 68 north bound in a cruise mode set at 73mph. Physical contact between driver and the vehicle control component was only steering wheel. While driving, rpm suddenlyreved up to 5.5k and driver immediately shut down the cruise mode by pressing brake pedal. After the cruise mode being canceled, the engine reved up to 5.5k again. Driver pulled up on the side of the highway as soon as possible and identified all dashboard warning lights were on. The car was shutdown immediately by taking the key out. The car is towed to hugh white honda dealership in columbus ohio.

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. The contact stated that the check engine and electric parking brake warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 66,135.

The keyless ignition button on a less than 3 year old car fails to start the car. There is no other backup manual key to start the engine. This leaves a driver helpless and stranded with no vehicle starting option.

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. While driving 5 mph, the steering wheel seized intermittently without warning. Also, the instrument panel made an abnormal clicking sound and the screen went blank. Lastly, the vehicle hesitated occasionally when placed in drive. When the contact shifted into drive, the accelerator pedal remained stuck. The vehicle was towed to coral springs honda (9400 w atlantic blvd, coral springs, fl 33071,(954) 369-4679) where it was diagnosed that the electrical system needed maintenance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,000.

System control is blinking; car is unable to start and shut off once pressing starter button. Key batteries have been changed out, but still occurs to happen. It takes about x8 plus to start and turn off car.

When pressing the push start/stop ignition switch in my car , the car will not start nor stop the engine. Repeated pressing on the switch and the brake is required for the vehicle to start and stop.the faulty ignition switch sign has been coming on and off on my dashboard for the past 5-6 months. I have changed the car battery and the battery in my key fob in the last month hoping that this would solve the problem. It was diagnosed by the honda dealer on 09/12/20 that the problem lies with the push button ignition switch. Due to the tremendous demand for this switch this part is on back order, which points to the fact this is a manufacturing defect.

2016 hr-v i bought in nov 2015:19,359 miles when the car didn't start, aaa started my car, tested the battery and stated it was good.drove it to honda dealer, they ran a "multi-point inspection" and found nothing wrong. A employee, of honda, told me it's happened with a cr-v also.

The rear hatch door has water inside of it. Both taillights have condensation in them and you can hear water sloshing around when you open and close the door. Electrical components have started to malfunction due to the water and honda doesn't care because the warranty has expired.

2016 honda hrv - intermittent problem with the car not starting (push button start); key icon remains illuminated. We took it to a dealer who said it must be the battery in the key fob (replaced repeatedly with problem recurring) until finally at 49,000 miles they said it was showing code b12c5 start/stop switch has failed. Diagnosis $144 and replacement $302 total $446. It took 10 days from diagnosis to completed repair because they had to order the part. This was big dealership/service dept. Seems they waited till car was out of warranty and then took their sweet time getting the part while i was wringing my hands wondering if the car would start whenever i went somewhere. Not only annoying but very unsafe!please recall this part -it appears to be a common problem with hondas.

A day ago, my son was stranded at our local walmart about 6 miles away at midnight. He got in the hrv and it would not start. I changed the battery and still no start. I had it towed to the honda dealership and they said it was the battery terminal which looks like it has fuses connected to it. The cost to replace the part is over $300. I just bought the car 60 days ago. My son could have been stranded 100 miles away from home because of a defect in the electrical battery terminal cables. I was told this happens frequently with the honda vehicles with this type ofsystem. Yet there are no recalls or fixes. Honda just wants their customers to keep buying new cables???

I was driving on the highway and my dash lights all lit and my car stopped working.i checked under the hood and a plug had been blown off my transmission and spilled fluid all on the inside of the car. Got a tow to the closer honda dealer and they said my transmission was destroyed with bits of metal all inside and my start/stop switch went out.

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Aaa arrived and attempted to drive the vehicle onto the flatbed of their truck, but the vehicle failed to shift out of gear. The vehicle was towed to coral springs honda (located at 9400 w atlantic blvd, coral springs, fl 33071, (954) 369-4679) where the contact was informed that they had to replace the battery, which was causing the electrical failure. The dealer scheduled another appointment for the electrical failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and was not diagnosed or repaired. In addition, the steering wheel seized without warning while making a left turn. The vehicle was taken to coral springs honda where a test drive was performed, but the technician could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion, the steering wheel seized while driving. The contact stated that one of the salesperson drove the vehicle and the steering wheel seized while the salesperson was driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,700.

Smart start warning indicator light came on, car hesitated, but did eventually start.three times in the next four days, over a weekend (of course), the vehicle hesitated before starting again and again, twice at night in a dark parking lot!took the vehicle to dealership where it was purchased and has had all maintenance work performed.they replicated the problem, "inspected and found code b12c5 stored in the pcm.diagnosed and found a *defective* engine start/stop switch." in every instance, the vehicle was stationary, in park, on a level, dry surface. Since the vehicle is out of warranty by one year and 10,000 miles, i had to pay to replace a defective part!

Instrument cluster the third one to the right mileage gas fill up decodes at you when it's cold or when you're driving start a happening when i reach 20,000 miles had the car since 2016

While driving 80 mph with the cruise set i noticed the vehicle start to heavily accelerate. I immediately turned the cruise off and applied the brake. The brake did no stop the car from accelerating. I managed to slow down enough to shut the vehicle off. All dash board lights came on. I started the car up again and it started jerking as if the brake and gas were being pressed at the same time. The car was towed via honda care.

The vsa modulator went out in the car making all lights on the dashboard flash and light up, and crashed the computer system for the car. The vsa modulator was not working due to an internal failure is all i was told. My vsa modulator went out while i was in drive with the brake applied in the drive thru for food. This prevented the vehicle from being driven safely due to not knowing what was lit up on the dashboard, caused visual confusion and distraction while driving, and would cause a panic to a driver if the vsa modulator went out on them while they were driving. Plus the displays crashed, so there was no way or knowing your speed. The vsa modulator was replaced for nearly $1,500 from the honda dealership and there were no prior errors on this vehicle or part.

My wife and i purchased a new 2016 honda hrv on oct.15.2016 from townsend honda in tuscaloosa, alabama. The car spontaneously caught on fire while sitting on a concrete slab in our driveway on dec.24.2016 (odometer approximately 300 miles). Fire was in the engine compartment and got so hot it melted the vinyl siding on my home (about 30 feet away). Still looks like a new car everywhere rear of the engine, the front seats did not even burn, however, the vehicle burned beyond recognition forward of the passenger compartment. Tuscaloosa fire department got to our home and extinguished the fire in about 10 minutes. The fire was so fast spreading, both front tires exploded in the few minutes waiting for the fire department to arrive.

I was stopped at a stop light on a city street. The car started accelerating on its own even though my foot was on the brake.

I have replaced my catalyst converter and my check engine light and parking brake light and the safety key light has turned on.the warranty on my vehicle was over the miles before they sent me the notice on the push start button key but i had issue with this before it had passed the warranty miles.the notice was sent to late after i went over. The other lights i had a auto parts hook up the machine and its indicating the engine control module (ecm) detects a catalytic converter problem, it might record dtc p0420, defined as ā€œcatalyst system efficiency below threshold.ā€¯i am so fed up with this and bought my honda new and never had issues with it until i bought this honda hrv model.i love my care but if it wasn't for this.

The engine is leaking oil from the cover, breather. Aka air oil separator part number 11850-rna-a00.

Vehicle was in driving motion at 50mph then started to slowly decelerate while on drive. Accelerator was increased but the engine was still wiring down. All indicators lights appeared on the dash board. Brakes seemed to lock and could not come to a complete stop until the car finally stopped from it slowly wiring down. Car stopped moving while on drive and would not budge. The speed indicator kept moving from 0 to 120 yet the car was not moving. Took it to a mechanic to run a diagnostic and it appears to be an internal transmission problem, everything else looks good yet the transmission is having issues. The car has always been kept up to date. The vehicle has about 75,000 miles.

Honda refused to honor my warranty at 99000 to get my transmission fixed and it broke down at 100,000 and 121 miles.

8/1/2020: at 65 mph the engine started vibrating, when accelerated to 75mph engine stalls, rpm rapidly increased to ~5000 and collapsed. Lost forward momentum and output from the engine. Multiple dash lights came on (power steering, tire pressure warning, break system lights, traction control light, check engine lights etc. Came on).vehicle was on the active lane, put in neutral and steered to the shoulder. Unable to get the car moving again after turning off and on. Afraid that i was going to lose ac in the 108f heat if the vehicle does not turn on again so i left it at that until the tow truck arrives.the car had to be left overnight because dealership close sunday.8/2/2020: the next day i received a voicemail from superstition honda regarding the vehicle's diagnosis. Was informed that the diagnosis code observed was related to the ignition start push button that needed replacing. I gave consent to the service to replace the ignition button.8/3/2020:after i went to superstition honda to pick up the car. I then proceeded to take the car onto highway 60 and got up to the stated speed limit of 65 mph when the same symptoms appeared. Vehicle stalled at speed, rpm rapidly increased to ~5000 before collapsing. I was in an extremely dangerous situation because there was no shoulder at the area where i came to a stop on the highway, therefore i was stationary partially in the active lane.there was no warning lights that gave any indication there was a problem with the car. The catastrophic failure happened out of no where.after returning to superstition honda, i left the vehicle on and had it diagnose before turning the car off. Was eventually informed that there are multiple metal fragments in the transmission fluid, and that the metal fragments also damaged a pressure sensor in the transmission system. The transmission will need to be replaced.

Automobile stalled without warning at low speeds, this lead to near collision at intersection as the car became disabled in the middle of the road, car required multiple restarts to safely get it into a automobile service station; honda road side assistance dispatched a tow truck and vehicle was taken to local honda dealership where after inspection i was advised that the vehicle required a new throttle body

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. The contact stated that the check engine and electric parking brake warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 66,135.

Transmission failed at 75,000 miles.

The rear hatch door has water inside of it. Both taillights have condensation in them and you can hear water sloshing around when you open and close the door. Electrical components have started to malfunction due to the water and honda doesn't care because the warranty has expired.

Observed hr-vpulling into driveway at night. Car completely dark. Brake lights work normally, drl'sappeared to be on. I assumed driver forgot to turn on lights. Two weeks later, driver pulled over by police at night for no parking lights. Trobleshooting showed normal brake lights, turn signals, hazard flashers, and dash lights dim when parking lights selected. Could not find any fuse or relay referenced in the owners manual for the parking lights. Found a schematic online and isolated problem to a "taillight relay" but could not find the relay referenced in the owners manual, or find location online. Took car to dealer for warranty repair. Relay located in hidden compartment under battery. Safety issue - parking lights inop- only repairable by dealer- no reference in owner's manual for hidden taillight relay - stopped by police at night on intestate and given verbal warning for safety violation. Reference schematic page 1, left side

Tail lights filling with water, no bulbs have ever been replaced. Bad seal?

Multiple times within the past year, especially if it is cooler outside, my car screen for my mileage, gas tank hand, and all of that electrical stuff will completely disappear.when it shows back up most of the time it will have crazy letters and start flashing.the icon with the key has recently popped up on my dash which stands for something being wrong with the system.

At 9808/9809 miles my car developed what i thought was a fuel leak. In close quarters like my garage it is powerful and dangerous in my garage due to a pilot light for the water heater. ( explosion danger). The car was pressure tested and worker suggested it was an additive to las vegas fuel. My car was showing 3 bars filled in the fuel tank. I filled the tank and the smell stopped. 2 weeks later the smell is back. Tank has been filled and yet this time the smell has persisted. Apparently it makes no difference at this point what the fuel level is nor the temperature outside. I only smell this when i am parked in close quarters. There are no other sources of fuel in the garage. At this time (february 7, 2018)i do not smell this odor inside the car.

While driving 40-45 mph, the cvt transmission ceased all functions. There was nothing leading up to this. The engine was fine, but the transmission stopped moving the car. The vehicle was just about to merge into the highway! the dealership found "metal pieces" in the transmission fluid (which has been changed with oem fluid at every recommend interval).

Cvt fill plug popped out on its own; waxy smell in vehicle starting in november, 2019 post roadtrip from los angeles to arizona. Honda dealership claims this was neglect on behalf of oil change in june, 2019. Online forums (https://www.civicforums.com/forums/321-transmission/372757-cvt-fill-plug.html) and honda service employee states this is a reoccurring issue with hrvs and civics; oil change company also confirms this anecdotal information.

2016 honda hr-v automatic transmission failed at 68,982 miles.the transmission was replaced at my cost.the vehicle was purchased new and all manufacturer recommended maintenance was performed.the dealer included a lifetime powertrain warranty at no extra charge.honda and the dealer did not offer any financial assistance.

I was driving my car on a busy neighborhood street when all of a sudden the car stopped and didn't want to accelerate anymore. There were no warning signs or lights . So with the momentum left in the car i was able to pull over. This was a very stressful and dangerous situation because the car just stopped and cars were coming full speed behind me. Thankfully i was able to pull over with no major injuries. I had to tow my car home and then to the dealer where they made me pay for looking into the transmission fluid . They found metalshavings and determined the transmission was no longer good. Important to note, that all maintenance had been done and multipoint inspections up to date. I have now done research and found that this is a known issue with the transmission . Various hr-v forums are reporting this issue and honda is not owning up to it. My car has $78k miles and only owned it for 3.5 years. They want to charge me up to $8000 to replace the transmission. Honda needs to address this issue for safety reasons and make right to their loyal customers.

I was driving a long 80 miles from my home with my two children, thankfully i had just exited a congested major highway south of dc.with zero warning i lost all power, lights on dash were on and flashing and could barely get from the left lane to the side of the road about 5 miles from any station as there was only commuter parking lots and sand dunes and a distant neighborhood.i had to wait for a tow truck as it got dark, luckily i was able to have it towed home.i had a mechanic i trust come take a look and he determined it was the alternator and the battery was leaking acid.he replaced it and took it for a drive and shortly it began to flash lights and show neutral and was in what he called, limp mode.i had it towed to honda where they ran the diagnosis, i was then told they would need to drain the transmission fluid and there they found chunks of metal and told me my transmission was shot.my vehicle had 77,000 miles on it.i was told maybe the previous owner did not take care of it, but the truth lies on this site where i have read now numerous accounts of the same exact chain of events.i was told i will need to replace it for $6200 from honda, i then contimplated a new purchase as i am already upside down on my car loan.this is a dispicable thing for honda to do to it's loyal customers and i declined a new car and have told the manager i will no longer do business with honda especially now seeing this issue has been reported numerous times to honda.

On 2/12/20, was accelerating to get onto highway when my car jerked and started losing speed. All kinds of lights started flashing on the dash. I was not in a safe place to pull over so i drove it until i could pull over safely. I could only go 40 mph and the car was jerking. It was pouring down rain when this happened and it was extremely dangerous and scary. Once i pulled over, turned the car off and back on. Dash lights were still all flashing. I ended up getting back on the highway and driving to a shopping area close by. Had to have aaa tow car to my house (45 minutes) and then the following morning, 11/13, have the dealership tow from my house to the them (another 45 minutes) . Dealership told me my transmission was full of metal shavings, which was due to the transmission coming apart from the inside. I bought this car new in march 2016 and only have 101k miles on it, it is no longer covered under the service contract (75k).was told it would cost $6,340 to fix. Called honda customer service (800-999-5901) on 2/13 at 3:56 pm to complain and told them they needed to fix my transmission as this was manufacturing defect. Had the worst customer person ever! (misha) she stated she didn't know what i was asking honda to do for me and then implied it was my fault noting she "took" into consideration maintenance done on car, if transmission fluid had been changed, mileage and no recalls on the car. All of this was based without even calling the service manager at the dealership. Informed her i had all the maintenance required, including 2 transmission fluid changes at honda's recommended mileage. After arguing with her for almost 35 minutes i told her to give me a case number. A supervisor is "suppose" to reach out to me within 24 hours. Hopefully honda will do the right thing. My family has owned 14 honda's and never had any issues with them.

The car has just passed the 80 000 miles mark, as i use the car to travel between portland and san francisco. I missed 60 000 miles service and instead had it done at the 80 000 miles mark. Two weeks after the service the transmission has fallen apart.

I took it in for the 100,000 mile check up and when they started to change the fluid in the transmission they stopped because there was large chunks of metal coming out. I was told this does not look like normal wear and tear but a product fatigue. I called the honda dealership that i bought it from and honda customers service. Both the dealership and honda would not help me at all. I was told that there had been no problems with that model and they could not help. After looking online i found quite a number of complaints about issues with the 2016 honda hrv some of which were transmission. Mine is the transfer case which is connected to the transmission so both need to be replace. This was my first honda that i've ever bought. My wife wanted one because of their dependability. I will not buy another car from a company that does not standby their product. The transmission fluid was changed at 53,000 miles. I talked two transmission places and both gave me the same answer. You cannot work onthese transmissions you either have to buy a used one or purchase a new one. Estimated cost for a new transmission and transfer case about $8600.

The seats and seating position in the hr-v are very dangerous. The seat is so uncomfortable and due to this, i am sitting so close to the awkwardly placed steering wheel that in the event of an accident, the airbag would probably not protect me. The cvt in the hr-v is so unrefined that when i lift off the gas pedal a little, not all the way, at speeds under 40mph, the car engine brakes so severely that i have to use my left foot to put on my brake lights immediately. I was warned by a fellow commuter that i'm at risk for being rear ended. I've driven for 45+ years and never had a vehicle so burdensome and difficult to control. Total loss of money on my part. Honda seems like they don't care about the buyer. They make sure to only allow 5 minute test drives. I didn't notice these problems until about 10 days after purchasing the vehicle.

I was driving my 2016 honda hrv and started to lose power. Warning lights for brake system and engine, along with other lights came on. I was able to safely pull over. I was able to turn off and turn car on and warning lights on dashboard were still on, however i was not able to engage the car in either drive or reverse position. When tow truck driver arrived, he was able to engage car to drive. Honda dealership ran diagnostic test and speed sensor came out, but it was ruled out. Only thing wrong, was a loose battery cable on positive side. Car is running fine. However two weeks later, i am 150 miles from home and just got off freeway, when my car loses all power. I immediately had to pull over andluckily car behind me was able to stop in time and did not rear end me.there were no warning lights on the dashboard. I am able to turn car off and on. However will not engaged in drive or reverse position. I had it towed to honda dealership (again). I was told transmission is completely out and its due to metal shavings in my transmission oil. I only have 101k miles in my car however it is not longer covered under the manufacturer powertrain warranty, so it will cost me $6,500 to repair. I have read other reports on hrv forums from drivers who own 2016-2017 honda hrv who have had the same exact symptoms and problems with transmission.

Total transmission failure at 66,559 miles. I heard a noise when accelerating on the last part of a trip from fl to wi. A few days after arriving home in wi, i was pulling out of a parking lot when i suddenly had no drive capability. The engine only revved as if it was in neutral. After a tow to the honda dealership, i was told the transmission completely failed and had to be replaced at my cost. I am filing this complaint because after researching this issue, it appears to be a problem with the 2016 hr-v. I'm only glad it failed in a parking lot near home instead of on the highway where it may have caused an accident or far from home where i would have been stranded.

So i bought my honda hrv 2016 about 3 weeks ago and it seems and i just started feeling today that every time i stop at a stop light and i then proceed to accelerate, the engine starts vibrating at around 1,500 rpm. Im pretty sure this is not normal as i have owned 3 vehicles and none have acted like this. Ive also noticed that a lot of people have reported these transmission issues i feel that this is really dangerous and should be recalled by honda to avoid accidents or anything worse from happening. Im very disappointed in how such a great company like honda doesnt handle something so serious like these transmission issues.

Belt in cvt transmission broke at 80,000 miles, requiring complete replacement of transmission. Vehicle was driving down interstate when it occurred, and began jerking left and right.

Vehicle was in motion on interstate, all of a sudden, wheels will not respond to acceleration or reverse, engine will rev, but wheels do not spin. Catastrophic transmission failure with no warning lights and no information to know what it was as vehicle died on interstate.

Slow leak noticed from transmission pan. Happens very slowly, over thousands of miles. Transmission fluid seems to be low, frequently has trouble shifting gears on the highway, or on hills/uneven roads.

I bought the car brand new in april of 2016, it has 70k miles on it, and i've never had an issue with it. Last week i was going about 40-50 mph and my dash said the gear was in neutral, and all the warning lights came on. Took it to a few places and it was determined that the transmission was totally shot.

2016 hrv on the third transmission - first one failed in late nov 2018 at 108k miles, second one failed in april 2019 after only 11k miles. Both times it failed while driving on the interstate - very dangerous. Details: all dashboard lights came on suddenly and the hrv went into limp mode (wouldn't go above 35-40mph) and finally went into total transmission failure. I have photos and video of the dashboard lights from the second failure. The first time, in november 2018, i was driving through the mountains on the interstate with my cruise control on. The hrv was traveling up a large hill and trying to maintain a steady speed. That's when the transmission failed. The engine revved really hard (i assume because the transmission stopped working properly with the cruise control still on, so i tapped the break to release the cc) and then it would barely accelerate, so i pulled over, turned on my hazards, and coasted down the mountain trying to gain speed because i was only able to go 35 mph. After a few minutes, i gave up realizing i could not drive like that as it was a danger to both myself and other drivers. Called a tow truck. I was able to drive it both onto and off of the tow truck. The next day when i tried to drive it to my mechanic, the hrv got to the stop sign at the end of my street and would go no further. Had it towed - again. The second failure began on the interstate as well.the dashboard lit up like before. I immediately went to an advance auto at a nearby exit and they pulled the code - it was for the transmission solenoid. It seemed to be driving fine but the dashboard lights were all blinking, so i took the hrv to my mechanic. They confirmed it was a solenoid that was not working properly, but had not "failed entirely", so that is why it kept on driving. Honda knows all about my transmission problems. They have it documented.

2016 honda hrv with 70,900 miles suddenly lost power at 55mph on highway.accelerator wouldn't work. Driver was able to control vehicle to shoulder and stop.

In month leading up to transmission failure noticed car my honda hrv 2016 sounded different on acceleration. Was taken to honda dealer where it was purchased and was told it was one of the belt pulleys. Dealership replaced it and i had to pay for it. Cost approximately $500. The abnormal sound continued. Was returned to dealership and was told that i possibly had mice or rats causing the problem and asked me if i lived in the country or in town. Or if i parked car in garage or outside.about month later was on interstate and had all warning and check engine lights come on at once and car was unable to transmit power from engine to drive train. Had to pull over from interstate traffic and call tow truck. It was towed to dealer and they stated there was metal fragments in the transmission, and it would have to be repaired at my expense. Problem started and about 90000 miles and transmission failed at 120000. Total repairs including wrongly replaced belt pully were over $6500.

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. While driving approximately 65 mph, the speed suddenly decelerated to 35 mph. During the failure, several warning indicators illuminated, including the check engine indicator. The vehicle was taken to ed morse honda (3790 w. Blue heron blvd, riviera beach, fl) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. After retrieving the vehicle, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission sensor failed and dislodged from the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Transmission was blown in the city while being driven

7/10: on a highway, the car lost speed, and all warning lights on the dashboard started flashing. The car would not change gears, decided to place it to the side of the road and tow it to westshore honda. The start button was replaced, and there was no charge due to a recall that covered the fees. No other urgent action required my attention, and i left.was about 15-20 minutes after leaving, while on a busy highway plus it was raining, the same issue happened. It was terrifying to lose the power speed.i drove home safely using offside roads and flashing emergency lights at less than 40 miles. On 7/13-14, i was able to book time at lakeland's regal honda to have my car checked once again. No one called me back until the following day. Regal honda gave an estimate of over 7000. No explanation on what the issue was, just that my transmission needed to be replaced. My car is about 65000 miles and just passed the 5-year mark, so i do not have a warranty. The car is only used on the weekends and i have done all the service needed since i bought it, i've been the only owner. I expressed my shock that a car with this many miles is having issues with the transmission, the service provided said he was going to contact honda corporate to see what they could do. They charge me $89. I then took my car to joyce automotive repair in lakeland, their diagnostic found codes u0401-68 ecm failure and u0402-68 tcm failure. Unfortunately, they cannot program honda computers and i have to bring the car back to the dealership. Cost $71 7/15 after extensive research online, (ie https://www.hrvforum.com/threads/transmission-problems.40399/) i discovered this is a popular issue for many honda customers, especially in 2016 owners. I am in fear of my safety and others that do not know or do not get support from honda. Now i have a parked car with no feasible and economical solution and it is frustrating honda can get away with this. My ask, is for you to do a thorough investigation, thanks

3/6/2020 on the way home from work the vehicle started making a very subtle sound upon acceleration, the sound only occurred while in motion and appeared to become less obvious after reaching speeds above 30 mph.after almost two weeks (in which the sound became more obvious and increased in intensity) and taking the car three different places including the closest honda dealership (not where the car was purchased due to moving), i ultimately ended up finding out my transmission is "destroyed" at under 73,000 miles.the issue was addressed right away and immediately taken 3/7/2020 to the nearest reputable mechanic who recommended i take it to honda due to it being a relatively new model, and they had never worked on this specific model.the vehicle was then taken to the nearest honda dealership where the customer service representative who i had been in contact with was not entirely helpful and had to clarify details regarding what the mechanic said was wrong with the car many times, as she was often inflating the information.the process of having the transmission replaced has been exhausting and due to the customer service received at honda, the replacement is being completed by a transmission specialist elsewhere.

2016 honda hr-v 117,000 miles. I was on my way to work when suddenly i went to accelerate from a stop light and the car just revved as if it were in neutral, and lots of service lights turned on the instrument cluster.i was left in the middle of an intersection in the dark, trying to push my car to the shoulder. Very dangerous for the car to just stop working like that with no signs. Once i got the car home, i drained the cvttransmission fluid and noticed a lot of metal on the drain plug magnet. I also noticed the transmission fill plug was also popped out ( which honda is aware of, just fails to inform customer's ) honda customer service has been very hard to find someone to talk too. Very disappointed in quality of parts coming from a supposed reputable/reliable brand.

I was leaving work and driving down a busy, high speed road when the car experienced a total transmission failure. There were no warning lights or change in performance prior to the incident. Car has been dealer maintained and up until that moment had performed well.police had to stop traffic and assist me out of busy intersection.

(transmission replacement with metal shavings, estimated cost to repair: $6,800)mileage 65,297purchased less than 4 years agovin: [xxx] my son was driving down a busy highway in downtown nashville when the car suddenly and without warning (no longer accelerated) and he was very luckily able to pull to the side of the highway.it has been towed to the gallatin, tn honda, (though i purchased it originally in louisville, ky). I have been notified by 2 service reps (and specifically service manager, dale gratehouse in louisville, ky) that this is a known problem with the specific make and model (2016 hrv), and that there have been others to come into the shop in the 60-80,000 mile range needing this exact repair.please note that all required and scheduled maintenance has been performed at honda dealerships. I am a lifelong honda owner. At this point, my main concern is making sure that anyone who purchased a 2016 honda hrv is made aware of this defective product to prevent a harmful or potentially catastrophic event.because it is clear that honda is not interested in their duty and obligation to warn customers of the potential problem with their product, i plan to put every effort forth/due diligence to make sure this does not happen to anyone else. In contrast to honda's most basic courtesy to me, honda has now been warned that this will occur again and that someone will be seriously injured and/or killed.and now, i would like nhtsa to be formally notified.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc

While driving the vehicle began to rev and acted as if it was no in gear, no power, it began to slow and when i stopped it would not change into any gear except park. The vehicle has 85,112 miles

After purchasing and being able to drive it for an extended period of time, i noticed a pressure point in my mid-back. It got to the point where it would take as little time as my 7 minute commute to cause my back to go numb. This numbness would persist for several hours after getting out of the vehicle. This was a problem with the driver seat as well as the passenger and back seats.it was recommended to adjust the seat, but no amount of seat adjustment would alleviate this problem.one honda dealer told me that this seat had no lumbar support and i should install leather over the cloth or trade for another honda.i was told this vehicle had already depreciated 30%. I knew i was already at a loss so i wasn't going to sink any more money into honda. I had to trade my car after 1 month of ownership.

My vehicle is parked when this occurs: i have cloth interior and the upholstery material and foam on the passenger side gets pushed down into the seat and collapses, i have to have a dealer pull it out and one time the seat had to be replaced. It is off warranty and i will have to pay for it next time, i am so disappointed in this vehicle. It has also had two stop start switches replaced. I am so sorry i bought thisvehicle!

I bought this car new, anddiscovered that i can't be driving it, because my back and my hip hurts so bad, that i can only use this car if my trips are no longer than few miles.anything further than that, i get so uncomfortable that i can't move my leg from gas to brakes. It is dangerous to operate this car. I have never had any hip problems and never had any problems with car seats.

The test drive was very short and i did not realize there was a problem until 2 days after i bought the car. There is a big hard lump in the center of the drivers seat that causes bad pain. It even makes my back hurt.

Car's breaks require hard step to function and seem to "fail" when backing up in the morning. Seems to function normally during the rest of the day. Have not tested forward breaks in morning since we always back out of driveway.

The abs in our 2016 honda hr-v does not seem to work at all. When attempting a hard stop, we have had to pump the brakes ourselves since the system does not do that automatically. Recently, i was traveling at 35 mph on a rain-slick street (after hours of rain), hit the brakes to avoid a stopped vehicle and could not stop. Ipumped the brakes hard, only slowed a bit, swerved and still bumped into the car ahead of me.

Noticeable clunking noise during braking over bump(s)

Right rear rotor had grooves in it after about 22,000 miles.brake pads have a lot of material left. Don't know if the rotoror the pads are the problem.

While driving on a costa mesa street at 30 miles per hour, the car brakes came on hard without me touching the brake pedals. Also a voice from the speaker system came on and said: brakes are set. The problem lasted for about 3 to 4 seconds and then the brakes were released by themselves. I was very lucky that i was driving on the street with very little traffic at that time. If i had been driving on the freeway at freeway speed, the consequences could have been disastrous, i could have been seriously injured and i could have injured others.i proceeded to take the car immediately to honda costa mesa to have them find the defect and correct it.after honda costa mesa repair facilities kept my car for three days, they called me to indicate that they have found nothing wrong with my hydraulic brakes and they did not think the brakes could do a hard brake all by themselves..i asked the person who called me if they had checked the electric parking brake for possible malfunction. The person on the line sounded surprised at my question and said, no we did not check that, but we cannot find anything wrong with your car, you can come and pick it up.it appears that honda has eliminated 100% the possibility of the electric parking brake malfunctions and generates the voice system to come on the speakers with a statement: the brake is set.

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The contact discovered that there was a deep line on the rotors. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be determined. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 600.

I have had both rear calipers fail to include the epb unit.the right rear caliper failed at aprox 48k along with the epb unit.the second, left rear caliper failed while driving down the interstate at 65 mph at aprox 58k which ground down the new rotor and break pads causing the replacement of both rotors and break pads. These parts should not fail at this low mileage.

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.

While driving my honda hr-v 2016 vehicle at 70 mph on us-175 in kaufman, texas, the vehicle suddenly span out of control and turned counterclockwise 360 degrees for two full rotations until being stopped by slamming into the guardrail. The vehicle was equipped by honda with michelin primacy mxv4 (dot b33f 01vx 2116) p215/55 r17 94v tires. The right rear tire had exploded despite having been measured to be at normal pressure just one day earlier. The left front rim and the right rear tire were badly damaged.

I bought a 2016 white hrv in feb. Within a month a giant section of paint peeled right off the roof. I was just ready to pay for it. Took to a professional car painter and he said "id love to take your money, but this is a honda defect and they really should fix it and its going to keep coming off the rest of the roof and other places". Then he said he knew that honda was having paint peeling issues especially white cars.additionally there are 2 very small sections of peeled paint on driver side door under the window.i took it to the local dealership and filed a claim but have yet to hear from corporate.

Paint is peeling on roof near sunroof and on passenger side rear door below the window. Car is white pearl orchid and this seems to be a common defect for the 2016 model. Car was stationary, has never been in an accident, is cleaned on a regular basis.

Driver 1 traveling eastbound in the blvd and gets distracted and collided to parked vehicle 2. Driver 1 swerved the wheel to the right to control the car but vehicle 1 overturned and came to rest.

A few months ago i started noticing water swishing in my trunk hatch. I took it to the dealership and they said they can look at it for $129 but they thought it was a bad seal.he asked if it had been in an accident but it hasn't. I looked on the hrv online forum and there has been many people complaining about this very same thing.i think this should be a defect from the manufacturer and should be repaired or replaced at their cost. It could really cause damage to the hatch or the tail light safety. I bought this vehicle new in 2016.

The rear hatch door has water inside of it. Both taillights have condensation in them and you can hear water sloshing around when you open and close the door. Electrical components have started to malfunction due to the water and honda doesn't care because the warranty has expired.

There are two areas where the primary paint from honda is peeling/cracking. Both locations are about the same in size (about a quarter), and exhibit peeling/cracking down to the body metal. There are no indications of physical damage to the locations, the areas are as follows: #1 is on the driver door right below the window trim; #2 is on the roof on the driver side next to the sunroof. The paint is original from honda (2016 hrv), with dealer applied zaktek at time of purchase (mandatory by honda dealer).

Paint is blistering and peeling away all the sudden on roof of car and on side of car near windshield. Paint is white and when researched, this is and issue with 2016 honda hrv. Dealorship called and cannot see me for a few more days.was told to file a report here and they will look when i get there.

The open trunk lid hasn't stayed up recently, and while i'm accessing items, it crashes down in my head.i didn't see it and it hit me hard.this has begun happening more than once now, as recently as today.because i didn't expect it or see it, it's dangerous and hurt my head.perhaps a mild concussion.

Paint is peeling on multiple body panels. And there are rust spots in the paint.

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. The contact stated that he noticed a water leak on the rear hatch of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to regal honda (2615 lakeland hills blvd, lakeland, fl 33805; (863) 232-5671) and the mechanic was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

Bothering noise from the right rear side of my hrv i suspected that it a strut problem. Under warranty only 11,000 miles.

At 15,837 miles of normal driving and without excessive loads; the right rear strut on our new vehicle broke.it made a clunking sound in the right rear of the car.when ordering the new strut, the dealer told us that they were backordered from so many replacement requests.

I have been told my shocks are leaking after less than three years of having the vehicle. I do not do any irregular driving. Just to and from work on paved streets and highways.

On september 16, 2017, while driving, we discovered a noise from the rear of the vehicle that sounded like a loose shock or strut.we brought our car in to the dealership and after several hours of inspection, it was determined that the shock went bad.so the dealership replaced the shock.on approximately january 7, the same sound has returned and we contacted the dealership.the dealership informed us that honda has issued a recall on the shocks for 2015 and 2016 models.i have conducted a search for this recall on (http://m.owners.honda.com/maintenance/recalls) based on my vin and it indicates there are no recalls.i am currently requesting the paperwork from the dealership to indicate that honda has in fact issued a recall for this issue.the other concern i have a this point is that my car is at approximately 24,000 miles and i do not want to be out of warranty before this problem is addressed.

The contact owns a 2016 honda hr-v. The contact stated that the tire pressure light illuminated and both rear tires deflated without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 29,500.

A light with a key on the dashboard started to appear at random and then it continued to stay on.at first the hrv was slow to respond to the start/stop button and then it either failed to respond or would not respond without multiple attempts. The hrv would not start at times or it could not be turned off.i changed the batteries in the key and that did not resolve the issue.i took the hrv in to honda dealership for service and was advised the start stop switch had to be replaced. I paid for the parts and labor quoted to replace the switch so that i could start and turn off my car.there is no other option.grateful for the fix but at such low mileage this seems like faulty/defective switch issue, perhaps one already known to honda.

Would like someone to look into the recall process regarding 2016 honda hrv push to start button. My push start button stopped responding a few months back and has not been functional despite the car being fairly new. We'll have to get it replaced and upon looking into it online it seems that this is a common problem for this car and many owners have experienced the same thing. I believe it may be faulty.

This is a safety issue for the driver and occupants.when unlocking the drivers door from the inside all other doors automatically open allowing someone to jump into the car or someone small or old to jump out no matter where you are parked.

A year after buying my hr-v the odometer went out.now, two years later the second odometer is doing the same thing.

Under slow speed about 10 mph carwas making a left turn in buffalo,ny in late november and slid on ice into a curb(passenger front wheel) and recovered. 3 weeks passed noticed that the ambient temperature in car was reading anywhere from 100 to -40 degrees and then the display would disappear. Also defroster was running intermittently. Took car in for service, they said that temperature sensor attachedin the wheel area was damaged along with the wires being corroded that were attached to the sensor. Dealer stated that this could causes a varietyof problems later like the defroster shutting down along with any kind of circulation. This could be dangerous in winter. Also, they noted that this would not be covered under warranty.so, mind you if you slid into to anything, this would happen again.i believe that this part could have been placed in a safer spot to avoid this kind of damage. Why would you make this kind of part so vulnerable to the enviroment.

Faulty start/stop switch had to replace at 48000 miles actually lessthe vehicle wouldn't start after several attempts and sometimes the vehicle would not shut off

I noticed one day leaving from work that the car was pulling as if trying to switch gears when i would accelerate. As i began to accelerate on a city street the car began to shake/rock anytime i would try to accelerate. I pulled off into a parking lot to check my tires because i thought maybe it was a flat; all of the tires looked good so i proceeded to start my car and take off. As i did this, they car began shaking when accelerated and would barely accelerate past 20 mph. Again, i pulled off to check the engine this time to see if there was smoke. When i got back into the car i turned it on however it would no longer drive. I had my car towed to my local honda dealership. There, i was informed by the service team that what was being presented was something they had never seen. They had removed pieces of transmission (metal shards) from the transmission oil. They also stated that the plug for the transmission was completed deformed with metal shards protruding from it. Due to my tremendous upkeep with my car, as i am constantly mindful of when to have it serviced, i do not understand how this could have happened and neither could the mechanics at honda dealership.

I've owned my honda hr-v for a little over a week now. I've tried nine ways to sunday to make the seat comfortable -- to no avail. It causes unbelievable pain in my neck, shoulder and jaw. It causes me extreme pain. I ordered a neck support and lumbar support which have helped slightly but not enough. I contacted honda corporate and they suggested i bring the car to the dealership where i purchased it to have the seat inspected.they could find nothing wrong.honda corporate called me back and in their minds the issue is resolved as nothing can be found wrong with the seat.i've found countless forums online for many honda models complaining of the same issues.what can be done about this?there's obviously something wrong with the seat configuration. I have an appointment at the doctor tomorrow.

2016 honda hr-v with just over 18000 miles has had occasional start button problems. Sometimes i am required to press it a number of times before it starts or engine stops. My car is now out of warranty. It appears to be a fairly common problem with 2016 hr-vs...i believe a recall should be made on these start/stop buttons.

For speeds over 60 mph, car violently vibrated.the first time i took into dealership they said nothing was wrong with the car.the next day, same thing happened at same speed, so i called and demanded they pick up my car and bring me a rental.learned the propeller shaft had only one bolt half way holding it in place.only two bolts of 4 were ever installed.

Air conditioner, i have had my brand new 2016 honda hr-v since february 2016, i used my ac for 2 seasons a total of 6 months and this summer it barely got cold, when i took it to the dealer they said it isn't under warranty anymore and it needs to be charged so when i got home i called american honda they told me since it's not under warranty anymore that i would have to pay to have it charged. So i asked them what does it only last 6 months before it needs to be charged they told me they didn't have a time limit on how long it would stay charged. I have seen where many other people on line are having the same issues with this car.

Driving in store parking lot,sun roof exploted exploted from inside to outside upward, heard a load boom when glass exploted, car was in motion at approxiately 5 miles an hour car was turning off hwy.444 in quick stop store in maurpas louisiana.

2016 honda hrv has water in both tail lights and it's never been in an accident. Manufacturers warranty will not cover.

My sunroof on my honda spontaneously exploded while i was driving. My car had been parked in my driveway for months due to covid19 until saturday when i decided to drive on the highway. I was on 69n to 435 e on the overpass notrucks, cars or anything in front on me and i hear and explosion then air, when i looked around i say nothing but heard air like my windows were down but i was running my air, i opened the sunroof cover and a big hole was in the middle with glass shatter but in tact like a meteor hit it from above but it has been in the 90's lowe 100's here in ks clear weather. There was no glass on the cover and the glass seems to have exploded upwards.

I purchased my 2016 hrv in july 2018, used at a ford dealership. They had just gotten it into the dealership and i feel like they rushed through the inspections to get it sold and out the door. 9 days later, my air conditioning seemed to not be cooling down after driving for 20 minutes. I took it back to the dealer and had them check it, said there was a leak and fixed it. 3 weeks later, the same thing happened. Took it in and they said they "had the entire service team under there" and couldn't find anything wrong but somehow it was fixed when i got it back. 2 months later, it happened again and, fed up with the ford dealer, i scheduled an appointment at the honda dealership service dept. The manager told me that after getting it up on a lift, it looked like some kind of accident caused the issue and it might void my warranty! but they were going to fix it and see if it would go through, but i might not be covered later. Upset i took the car to my mechanic friend and asked him to put it on a lift and take photos of any damages to file a complaint to the ford dealer for not doing their due diligence in inspecting and reporting damages. He puts it up and says there's not a scratch or dent on it, the car is in cherry condition and he'd drive it cross country without concern. Called honda service and he said they'd replaced the part and that the damage had been specifically to the part so there was no more evidence, but the part had already been replaced by ford and i've had no accidents since owning it so i'm mad that they lied to get more money from me. It's been fine now for almost 6 months but i'm praying it holds up in fl summer.

While driving at a slow rate of speed approaching an intersection where traffic was stopped, the sunroof exploded without anything hitting it from the outside or inside, the glass exploded outwards for no reason. We proceeded to the dealership where we purchased the vehicle and found they refused to cover the repair. We had to use our insurance for the repair costs and are out $500. Deductible for what we feel is a safety related defect from the manufacturer. If this had happened at freeway speed it most likely would have caused an accident as the noise level when it occurred was extremely loud.

Honda refused to honor my warranty at 99000 to get my transmission fixed and it broke down at 100,000 and 121 miles.

I am concerned that a safety issue existson the 2016 honda hrv ex-l navi that i recently purchased. The issue is associated with the power on/off button that is standard on the ex models. Specifically if you activate the power off button while the vehicle is in drive the vehicle does not actually shut down and will drift forward or backward. It is very possible that you could exit the vehicle and it would start drift until it either hit something or human intervention could be taken. In addition to the honda hrv, i have a 2010 toyota prius. When you activate the power off button while the prius is in drive, the system automatically transfers the vehicle to park and completely eliminates the possibility of the vehicle accidentally drifting forward or backward.it should be noted the 2016 hrv ex does attempt to provide a warning that something is wrong. When you attempt to use the power off button to shut down the vehicle while the car is in the drive position the following occurs:- the car sounds like it is shutting down and the dash instruments go blank.- if the door is opened, several beeps are sounded.- in the trip indicator display on the dash, a "power is on" message is presented and immediately followed by a "shift to park" message. These messages are continually repeated.- the car will start to drift until human intervention, it stops on its own or it hits something.this issue has been reported to honda and my interpretation or their response is as follows:- you should always put the car in park before activating the power off button.- they felt their design was adequate at this time and did not view this as a safety issue.- issue will be documented for possible future reference.in summary, i still feel this is a safety issue that could result in a tragic accident. Fyi, except for this issue, i really like the hrv.

Vehicle smart entry indicator light is on. This light has been very intermittent, lighting <1 time per week for about the last year, and goes away with vehicle restart. Today the dealership replaced my battery, and gave the car back to me with the light on, and it will not go away. They want to charge me $150 to scan the car and discover what the problem is. There wasn't actually a problem until now that they light won't shut off.

In motion. Could not stop at 2 redlights. Took it to my garage and would not stop again, causing me tocrash through laundry room wall, demolishing washer, dryer utility sink etc.

While driving the car with the cruise control being set, the setting gets cancelled automatically while the vehicle is in motion and the vehicle slows down immediately. This has happened to my vehicle more 20-30 times now in the past less than one year. I reset the cruise speed again and it again cancels the set speed.

I was driving about 65mph on the freeway at about 4:00pm on monday, february 27, 2017 when the moonroof suddenly exploded. The glass blew outward and a large chunk flew back into traffic behind. No object struck the glass.

We had purchased the hr-v in huntsville, al. During the drive back to new orleans an object caused a small crater in the windshield. Later in june a crack formed on the upper, middle part of the windshield and was not connected with the original crater. Then this past saturday another crater appeared in the windshield as we were driving on a local road at 40 mph. This concerns me because the windshield on this hr-v seems to be quite fragile. I have been driving for 30+ years now and i've never had an issue with any vehicle like this one. The windshield will have to be replaced but i am worried that this might indicate a flaw in the hr-v's windshield which seems like a safety issue.

The windshield wiper fluid port freezes and doesn't allow fluid to be squirted on the windshield. Also, the wipers are too low on the windshield to get defrosted by the "defrost" mode on the heater and therefore skip on the windshield where there is ice on the wipers. Both of these issues make it very difficult to see. This happens while in motion as well as while stationary.

I live on a dirt road. When the road is wet, the wheels collect mud around the rear surface while driving, then the mud settles to the bottom whilethe car is stationary, dries, and throws the wheels out of balance. Sometimes the wheels are so badly unbalanced they shake violently above 50 mph and is impossible to drive safely at highway speeds.this began happening almost immediately after purchasing the car new in 2016.i took the car to the dealer for inspection and repair of this problem several times. Their solution was to remove, wash and remount the wheels. They did it for free twice but then informed me they would charge me each subsequent time this service is needed. This problem is obviously a recurring problem and has required repair several times since i stopped going to the dealer, but the dealer refuses to acknowledge that this is a chronic problem or safety issue.i contacted american honda and they told me the same, stating their wheels meet all legal requirements.as a former auto mechanic, i believe unbalanced, skipping wheels are a serious safety concern.so, every month or two, or whenever i need to do freeway driving, i have to jack up the car, remove the wheels, power wash the dry dirt from the back sides, and replace them to achieve balance and get the vibrating and bouncing to stop.i have never owned a car or heard of a car where this is a reasonable maintenance expectation that a mfr. Or dealer expects an owner to take on. This has been extremely frustrating, and i believe these wheels are poorly designed and a safety issue.
