Takata recallthe local honda dealer will not make the repair. I purchased the motorcycle at this dealership. I have contacted them personally multiple times, they say they can't make the repair. Honda corporate has called me and called the local dealer. The local dealer still will not make the repair and honda corporate has not provided me with a way to get the repair made. I have been unable to use my motorcycle for over a year because of this recall not being made.
The contact owns a 2007 honda gl1800 motorcycle. The motorcycles front-end was vibrating and the instrumental panel lighting doesn't illuminate normally. It was difficult to see the handle bars. The dealer contacted the manufacturer; however, they will only repair the front-end and the lights under the warranty when they experience a total failure.the motorcycle was not repaired. The current mileage was 11,000 and the failure mileage was 6,000. The cylinder information was not available.
2007 honda goldwinggl1800 motorcycle has a problem with the brake and signal lights.*njthe consumer discovered the rear brake lights and signal lights were not functioning.the consumer found that the fuse was blown.the consumer replaced the fuses. However, as soon as he began to ride, the fuse had blown again.the consumer took the motorcycle to the dealer and after having the bike for 19 days, the consumer was told the bike was fixed. One month later, the consumer discovered the same lights were not working again.the consumer believed there was an electrical wiring problem.
Experienced overheating at slow speeds within 5-10 miles. Had to stop seveal times to let motorcycle cool.
2007 gl1800 honda gold wing. Consumer writes in regards to obtaining recall *tgwthe consumer stated he attempted to make an appointment with the dealer. However, it is 70 miles away from his home. The service manager stated if there is a problem with the bike, the consumer will need to leave the bike. The consumer stated he would not be able to get back home. The consumer would like for the dealer to examine the bike first, and if there is a problem, they should order the parts, then he would make an appointment for the repair on day when they won't have to keep his bike.
Honda gl 1800 motorcycle has heel / toe gear shifter. This shifter "sticks' forward while downshifting. Riding solution is play with heel side of shifter placing pressure on heel to unlock, and repeat through downshift process. This happens occasionally while upshifting, but not as often. Have spoken to service dealer and they confirmed there is a "sticking" problem with the gearshift on these models due to bushing lockup which causes the left foot gearshift to lock up when downshifting. I have found this issue not only aggravating but dangerous depending upon traffic conditions at the time.
On a 2007 honda goldwing motorcycle the transmission will randomly shift from 5th gear down into 4th. This causes a hazard to the rider and passenger as the shift causes a change in the position of the rider and corridor throwing the balance off.
The transmission on my 2007 gl1800 goldwing went out with 10875 miles on it honda refuses to cover the repairs because it was converted to a trike. The trike conversion could not have anything to do with fifth gear going out of it all other gear are fine.
Last year i complained about thetransmission popping out of gear, when i took it in, i was told there was nothing wrong with it, and they could not look into the case unless it went out. This year it started to pop out of gear even more, and in july it popped out of gear again and took the transmission and drive shaft. It was repaired under warranty, but after the repairs i was told that honda had other complaints that were similar or doing the same thing, but they were not highlighting advertising it.in other words, they did nothing until it went out completely, and that occurred while i was driving it, it could have cause an accident with loss of power.
I have a 2007 honda goldwing with heated seats and handle grips. The heat element sometimes does not turn on, and sometimes it turns off after being switched on. I am told by the dealer that alot of owners complain about this, but honda says it is designed this way, which makes no sense, for sometimes it does not even turn it self on when activated. Last year the replaced on of the heated hand grips, but still i have the same problem and honda does not want to address it.
I applied the hand brake to make a right turn and the brakes started dragging. The brake dragging stopped my 2007 honda goldwing. I repeatedly pump the hand brakes and the brakes released allowing me to continuing to ride.two recalls have been issued on the goldwing brakes without a permanent fix. The brakes are a safety hazard and could result in serious bodily injuries.
The contact owns a 2007 honda gl1800 goldwing. While driving 70 mph, the rear brakes engaged independently and stopped the motorcycle without warning. The motorcycle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear brakes were worn through and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure occurred after the vehicle was serviced per a recall related to the service brakes. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. The vin and nhtsa campaign number were not available. Updated 02/15/2017*ct consumer stated brakes locked up at 70mph. Updated 7/11/18
The contact owns a 2007 honda gl1800a. The contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v472000 (service brakes) in september of 2014, but the manufacturer stated that the part needed to do the repair was not available. The contact felt the manufacturer exceeded reasonable amount of time to repair the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact had not experienced a failure. Updated 7/1/15
My 2007 honda gl1800 (w/abs) has exhibited a braking problem since the summer of 2010. When applying the rear brake alone, a shuddering occurs that feels like i am driving over rumble strips. This is quite disconcerting because it is unsafe, yet honda politely refuses to fix it, claiming that it is not a problem as long as the rider uses the front and rear brakes together. It is true that applying the front brake lever will prevent or stop this rumbling, but applying both brakes is not always the best, safest way to apply braking force. Compounding the troubleshooting of the problem is that it only occurs when ambient temperatures are above 90 degrees f. It appears to be a feedback loop issue since front and rear brakes are linked systems. Based on the number of entries on rider forums, this is not a unique situation, but it does not affect all goldwing?s so there must be a solution. Brakes should not shake the motorcycle, and a manufacturer should not be dictating brake operation to solve a design issue. Requiring the front brake to be applied to stop this vibration is simply unsafe.
Front brake locked up.i merely touched the front lever lightly to slow even more to look at the terrain, and it just locked up tight throwing me over the handlebar and causing the bike to flip over with my wife on it.i had a dealer/manufacturer maintenance progrom on the bike.i had jsut taken it into the dealer for the 42000 mile check up, and even had them write on the work order to specifically check the brakes, as i was going on a 2750 mile, 9 day trip to the smokey mountains.
There was a recall on the 2007 honda goldwing 1800cc for the rear brake caliber. I was involved in a crash and i do believe that the rear caliber did lock up when both front and rear brake was applied. After i purchased another 2007 goldwing i was told they had a recall on that year bike for the rear caliber. The big problem is i never got a recall notice and i blame the honda corporation for not forwarding me the recall. Even though the recall came out after my bike crash, that is why recalls happen, i was never mailed a copy of the recall.i suffered 100% disability do to the crash and left my job because i was unable to perform said job.if i had got a recall on the bike like i should have, i would have never let theinsurance company have it due to it being a total loss and would have sued the honda corporation.i believe that the honda corporation should still be held liable for not mailing the recall notice. If i was not told about the recall by a friend, my other 2007 goldwing would have never got checked. When i put my vin in the system for the recall, it shows it is still open and was part of the recall.i have tried several attorney's but no one will assist because the bike is gone.what ever happened to the liability issue of a company being held accountable for sending out recalls for the safety of its patrons? now i am out of work. On ssn disability hard to survive. I was traveling sb on i-75 when i entered onto some wet roads and noticed it was going to rain. I started to slow and change lanes from the center lane to the right lane so i could get onto the shoulder. During the changing of the lanes after i already had my breaks applied for over 200 feet during this process, it felt like the rear locked up and went out from under me. Honda should be held liable.i have complained to honda and continue to complain with no satisfaction.thank you.
