Takata recall ..

To whom it may concern i am writing to you because i have been waiting to get my airbags replaced i understand it is in high demand and can take some time but what is not acceptable is the terrible service i have been dealing with. Not only am i required to take time off to work to go to the dealership ( moss bros moreno valley ca) i am receiving the worst service. I have spoke to the service manager who seems to really not care about the service his employees are giving. I was told several times next next next week its getting to a point where i am not comfortable going to this dealership i really didn't want to file a complain because i am afraid they will be notified and damage my vehicle i recently had my father pass away so i am dealing with allot the last thing i need is this problem with the dealership i would like someone to contact me with another option to fixing my car and so i can go more in to detail about this issue. I also feel uncomfortable as i was almost being forced into driving my vehicle to the dealership when i signed a form saying i wouldn't drive it and i told him i wasn't comfortable he kept trying to get me to drive it and i told him no i wasn't going to until he would give me a document saying he would cover he than said he would call me back and never did.

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v661000 (air bags). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Paragon honda (57-06 31st ave, woodside, ny 11377, (888) 228-6603) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Supplemental restraint system indicator (srs) sensor is lit on dashboard of my 2012 honda fit and will not go off. I purchased this car brand new in june 2012. Has been on constantly while driving since may 25, 2016. Today is may 30, 2016. After researching this problem, i discovered i am not alone as many other honda owners have reported experiencing this exact same problem. Owners manual says that the srslight means there is a problem ranging from seat belt buckle tension to the side and curtain airbags harness restraints. Research also states that air bags will not activate during accidents while this srs is lit. Something honda left out of owners manual. Another problem i read reports about from other honda owners, after having their srs light checked by a honda dealer, was this could mean a defective occupant position sensor and is very costly to replace. Also found during research that there is a campaign against honda for the recall of the defective occupant position sensor.don"t know if this srs light problem has anything to do with the current takata airbag recall, but would be very interested to know if there was a link.i will be taking my car to the honda dealer where purchased asap to have my srs light problem checked. In the meantime i certainly hope no one runs into me.

Takata recall:my family's 2012 honda fit was driven by our 16 year old son.honda is refusing to provide a loaner vehicle that our son can drive while the honda fit is out of commission while honda produces new airbags.i am attaching the emails i have sent to honda in which i have proposed various ways in which honda can provide a loaner vehicle for my son.the impact of honda's policy is even harder on families whose sole vehicle is a recalled honda.for those families, honda's polic leaves those teenagers without any car to drive at all after their family's car has been turned over to honda for repairs to the airbags.

Takata recall- went to dealership to get my air bag replace, which they did't have needed to be order and waited 6 weeks. On october the 09, 2016 i was on a vehicle accident driving 25 miles and hour the right side tire hit and embankment and damaged my car for a total loss. The deployment of the airbag hit my chest with such force that my sternum was fracture and bruise through out my chest. I have being having severe pain for the past three weeks. The road is and uphill curve which the speed limit is 25 miles and is two lane road the vehicle behind me had lights on which i believe also were a factor because the lights reflected on the rearview mirror and was to close. Will summit a chp report when necessary.

Takata recallithaca carshare is a small non-profit organization serving 1,400 community members with 25 vehicles available for self-serve reservations on a 24/7 basis. Six of these vehicles are honda fits affected by the takata recall. For the safety of our members and liability purposes, we removed these vehicles from service on april 4, 2016. We have spoken with both our local honda dealer and honda corporate multiple times, and thus far both have refused to provide any compensation for the loss of revenue caused by these vehicles being unsafe to drive. Each vehicle requires installation of specialty hardware for our use, so substitute vehicles provided by honda (which have not been offered) are not an option for us. As each day goes by, we lose $250-300 in revenue, so as of this writing we have lost over $3,000.as a small non-profit, this recall has a huge effect on our budget. We expect that our losses will total at least $10,000, if not more. Failure of honda to provide compensation for this loss is both inconvenient and unacceptable. We continue to seek compensation for this loss and request any assistance you may offer on our behalf.

I was notified by letter earlier thisyear about the jy1 recall and i have not heard back. The parts were supposed to become available this summer and the website is still showing that a remedy is not available. I don't want to get in an accident and my air bag deploy and kill myself or someone else while driving. I don't believe that is extreme as others have lost lives due to recalls not having been completed.

Takata recall. 7 months, or more, after the recall was announced the local honda dealer still does not have the recall parts in stock. Nor was i notified that parts were available, despite assurance that i would be notified, but that i must call each morning to see if the parts might have arrived and then reserve them by then making an appointment for replacement.

Takata recallearlier this year, i received a notice concerning the takata airbag recall for my 2012 honda fit. I followed the directions on the recall and contacted my dealer (bella auto international, in puerto rico) to process the recall. I am filing this complaint because, pursuant to the terms of the letter i was sent, i do not believe the dealer has fixed the problem in a "reasonable period of time," which the letter defines as 60 days from the day i first contacted the dealer. I estimate that it has been more than 100 days since i contacted the dealer. My patience has run out. Although i diligently turn the car on every so often, i have not been able to drive it around to ensure the car does not get damaged by sitting for an extended period. Further, my registration sticker will expire in august, and i have not been able to take the car for an inspection. The rental car the dealer provided has an unpleasant smell, and the brakes are squeaky and shudder. Although my wife has called the dealer almost every week to check the status (the car is hers), the dealer has just responded with delay tactics.further, when we handed the car to the dealer, the person who attended us made an odd comment. We were told that the dealer was replacing the airbags in the luxury brand vehicles first (e.g. Acura, etc), and that our budget brand vehicles would be attended to last. I am not sure if this is true, but it certainly warrants investigation.lastly, the week before we handed the car to the dealer, we had taken the car in due to a check-engine light. The diagnosis was that something regarding the fuel cap or valve was damaged, and that it required a $140 part to replace. We placed the order on the part that week. Incredibly, the part has not yet arrived.please let me know if you need any more information.

No incident or accident. Just a request concerning the takata airbag recalls.the takata airbags are being replaced with another potentially defective takata airbag. Takata is uncertain as to the cause of the airbag explosions. They are still in the process of trying to understand the exact cause and there is no certainty that the problem has been fixed. I would like to ask the nhtsa to allow all vehicles with the takata airbags to deactivate the airbags until the exact cause is known and rectified. This could take years. But i would much rather drive with a deactivated airbag than a potentially explosive device that could kill me.it is my understanding there are no other airbags that are designed to fit honda cars. It is either another potentially defective takata airbag, or deactivation. Please give us that option until the problem has been completely investigated and we can be assured the replacement airbag is not defective, too.i am afraid to drive my car even though it has not yet been recalled. I am not at all reassured by a recall that replaces my airbags with more takata airbags. Takata admits it does not know the cause yet.i just want that airbag out of my car! please respond.

Takata recall.according to a message retrieved from honda online dated 5/22/15, our car isn't safe to drive.according to that same message and a recall letter mailed to us from honda in march, 2016, the dealer will provide a rental car until the airbags are fixed.i called the dealer and they have no rental cars available and they couldn't tell me when they would be able to provide one.i called honda's customer servicer and they said they couldn't help secure a rental car but a case worker would contact me in about a week.they've had nearly a year from their online admission in may 2015 to march 2016 to take care of this hugely important safety issue working with their dealers to provide sufficient loaner vehicles.we have one car and we're now afraid to use it.

Takata airbagsreceived notificationhave contacted port charlotte honda where i purchased the fit 3 times but they do not have the parts and am told to keep calling back which i do. I was told to park the car and they would give me a loaner but i would have to get insurance on the loaner. I feel it is their defective car which i purchased in good faith and they should cover the insurance. Also stop putting my family in danger - repair the car -and stop trying to purchase it bac.i am not interested in selling.

Computer keeps saying to "check fuel cap." even after several complete shut offs and tightening of the fuel cap, the problem continued to happen. It doesn't happen everyday, just sporadically. It also only has happened after parking on a flat surface.

The tires would all lose air within weeks, every month, driven or not, and still do. From 4 to 20 pounds of air per tire, still do. I think i have rotten so called new tires, as it was a new car. Also if i left 1 inside light on by mistake overnite, it would need a jump start for over 2 years. After about 12 of them in 6 months, they replaced the battery, no charge, and no more need for a jump start the 1 time left the interior dash light on, the overhead little 1/2 side of a light. Mechanics are the worst i have ever used. Worst and wish i never got the car. It is a bad joke and gets tops 28 mpg regardless of what it says on its little gas keeper

Electronic power steering light turned on intermittently. This caused the steering wheel to lock up or be really hard to steer. This typically happens at lower speed or when idle. This can occur mid steer at times as well.

Because honda chose to use soy-based wires for the wires leading to the transmission, they are very, very tempting to rodents. In fact, in 2015, a rodent of some sort crawled into my engine and chewed through the wiring that controls my transmission. Part of the repair was that they wrapped the replacement wires in "special tape" honda makes to deter rodents (it's spicy). (in other words, they know this is an issue and refuse to fix it.)despite a) parking in a garage b) having the repellent tape on there c) having pest control and no rodent issue where i park, i started my car yesterday to find the same symptoms as 2015. When i started the car, the "check engine" light lit up and the d (drive icon) was flashing. When i shifted from park to reverse, the car shook really hard. Every time the transmission tried to automatically shift while driving to the dealership down the street, the car would clunk and shake. The dealership informed me that a rodent had chewed through the wires that help control the transmission again and that it was a "common problem." common enough in fact that the dealer told me about a guy who had it fixed, then a week later, had to have it fixed again due to more rodents. They said it was just a fact of owning a vehicle. They suggested i "opt for the spicy tape," which they charge more for. I explained that if they'd looked at my engine, they'd know i already had that tape on there!the serviceman then shrugged and said he couldn't help me. That it could happen over and over again and there was "nothing" i could do. That sounds like a recall issue to me and a manufacturer refusing to cover this under warranty.

On 12/31/2013 i parked my honda fit 2012 in the parking garage of children's hospital los angeles at 6am and left it there while my little girl had surgery. When i returned to it at 4:30, i was unable to open the doors with the key fob. The light on the fob flashed, so i knew it wasn't the problem. There is only one keyed lock on the car on the driver's handle. I tried to put the key into this mechanical lock, but it would only go half-way and would not open the door. I called the honda care line who sent a tow truck whose driver tried for half an hour or so to unlock the door through the window, then said he couldn't do it and left. I called the honda number again; they sent another truck whose driver tried for another half hour or so, then left. I called my car insurance company, state farm, who sent a aaa truck whose driver also tried to open the door with the air bladder device in the window, but was unable to do so. At that point i asked him to break the small, front passenger window. He did so, then he was able to unlock the door, raise the hood and jump the battery to start my car. The hood can't be opened except by the latch inside the car.how is it legal fora car to be built without a way to lift the hood to jump the battery?as long as i couldn't open the door, i was unable to start the car. There is no way to get into the car when the battery is dead. I haven't been given any explanation about this or about why the car can't be opened if the battery is dead. For over three and a half hours my child who'd just had two surgeries sat in a wheelchair while the people i've paid to help me were unable to unlock my car.this could have happened anywhere. Fortunately i was in a parking garage and not in a parking lot or on the side of the street.

I scheduled an appointment for safety recall repairs with sheehy honda of alexandria, va.sheehy honda refused to conduct repairs for federal motor safety standard recall no. 126, "electronic stability control systems,'indicating they had no record of my vehicle needing this repair.

At sustained highways speeds of 70-75mph, with the outdoor temperature above 87 deg. F, vehicle wheels intermittently veered, taking the vehicle out of the lane rapidly, and without any feedback on the steering wheel.this occurred on both freshly paved interstate highways and older pavement, with no wind present. It occurred several hundred times during a 2-3 hour road trip, forcing a speed of 50mph for safety, despite the much higher speed limit. At higher speeds it would occur every 1-2 seconds, requiring extreme focus and insanely rapid reflexes to prevent a crash. The dealership was unable to replicate the problem a week later when the weather was cooler. It recurred when the heat wave returned, and sometimes shows up at speeds as low as 45mph. Simultaneously occurring symptoms:* the steering becomes much looser, going from a sensitivity of 1/4" on the steering wheel to requiring a full inch of movement to affect the wheels whatsoever.* ever 20 seconds, a 'african rain-stick' like sound occurs from the dash air vents, and lasts 3-4 seconds.

Driving on highway at 60 mph when i heard a loud "pop" and it sounded like my engine had blown a hole in it. I had it towed to a honda dealer who told me the spark plug blew out from the cylinder head - stripping threads completely. This is a known problem being talked about by many people on honda fit forums. This is the second time this has happened to my car. The first time it happened the plugs just came loose and burned up one coil pack, but it did not blow out the spark plug. The gen 2 honda fits have a problem with their spark plugs coming lose. I was told by the honda dealer i needed a new cylinder head, coil, spark plugs, and head gaskets. Honda is denying many fit owners coverage under warranty due to this problem. I have less than 80,000 miles on my car and it was purchased in 2013 as a certified honda with a 100,000 power train warranty. This needs to be covered in full as a warranty claim through honda usa. I have attached a picture that was taken to show the burned up coil pack.

I bought this car brand new, this car is common with other honda fit my year of spark plug blowing out , a lot of people like myself are stuff with blown sparks plugs out the engine, mine blew out twice and honda is charging me since i'm out of warranty,i think should be a recall on there head or threading or something wrong with there builds , it's spark plug number two like others

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. The contact was driving 50 mph when the vehicle became resistant to acceleration attempts. The vehicle was shut off and restarted, but the engine stalled. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer but the failure could not be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 16,700.

A spark plug on the third cylinder blew out and stripped the threads on the cylinder. The blow out caused an electrode to break off and damaged one of the valves. I made honda america aware of the problem and asked them to honor a "goodwill" warranty since, despite being two years outside of the warranty, my car only has 44,000 miles on it and this is a known issue with this make/model of car. Honda refused. The total cost of repairs will likely be $4,000.

Spark plugs number 1 & 2 came loose and cause vehicle to suddenly loose power on highway. The loose sparkplugs damaged the ignition coils and the car would only run at about 15 mph which was dangerous on the highway. When inspected the number 3 & 4 plugs were still tight. Sparkplugs and ignition coils needed replacement. Around 90000 miles on vehicle. Dateis also approximate

I brought my honda fit 2012 to my mechanic with issues of a misfire in cylinders 1 and 2. He thought it was a simple replacement of the spark plugs (only 51,000 miles on the car) and maybe a coil pack replacement. Once he removed the spark plugs from cylinders 1 and 2, he saw the tip of one of the spark plugs ground had broken off into the cylinder head and the coil packs and spark plugswere worn and covered in a blackish soot. He informed me that this meant that the spark plugs has wiggled loose over time and extreme pressure had caused this issue. And since no one has ever touched my engine, beyond a honda dealership for an oil change, that this was a manufactures defect when installing the plugs in the first place. All the movement caused the threads to wear awayon cylinder 2, so i took to my local dealership thinking it would be covered by honda, but they less than helpful. They stated my mechanic had no idea what he was doing, and did the damage. They said there are no current recalls or campaigns, but it took me 10 secs on the internet to find tsb's issued by honda, nothing the exact same issue i am having! this has put me in a fight withhonda of america to cover this very costly repair.

My car engine does not respond to the accelerator when starting from a standstill with the steering wheel turned to the right or left. This has happened seven times in the 1300 miles i have driven the car. This abnormal condition has left me momentarily stopped in the middle of busy intersections. I find that ifi am steering straight ahead, the vehicle will not malfunction but when it does happen, pressing the accelerator to the floor will cause the engine to respond, eventually. Honda should address this serious and potentially dangerous condition.

From the first year the fits front light covers are so scratched from nature visabity when driving at night is dangerous. I have had them buffed and shined with the same result happening. The factory tint is so bubbled and faded disability out of the rear window is a safety hazard. The paint on the roof and hood looks like it has completely faded off and they continue to get worse. I inquired at year 3 about these issues and was told it is not warranted.that i could pay someone to replace the tent, headlight covers and get it repainted.it is very hard to see put if the window and at night with the headlights.

Computer keeps saying to "check fuel cap." even after several complete shut offs and tightening of the fuel cap, the problem continued to happen. It doesn't happen everyday, just sporadically. It also only has happened after parking on a flat surface.

The fuel gauge is non-linear, ie when it says you have a half of a tank, you really only have 1/8 or 1/4. Seems silly in this day and age of computer controlled stuff i have to remember i really don't have that much fuel and i could easily get stranded.

While driving home at the end of the day, the car started to lurch around 20 mph while driving straight in a parking lot and on city streets.this had never happened before. The lurching continued for the next 3 miles until i got home.couldn't take it to the honda dealer because service dept was closed.the next day, the mil indicator came on when i started the car.however, there was no lurching around 20 mph while driving on city streets to the honda dealer. Honda found two codes: (1) p0456 evap system small leak and (2) p0847 transmission fluid pressure switch b (3rd clutch) (short or stuck on).honda troubleshooted and stated in their paperwork "found evap gas cap has not have the updated gas cap.also found the transmission 3rd pressure switch is stuck on.recommend to replace the gas cap and the transmission 3rd pressure switch."i asked if work was covered under any warranty and was told no. Quoted repair cost of $160 (for item 1) and $650 (for item 2).didn't expect these types of problems with a honda car.

I was stopped at a stop sign, waiting to make a left turn, when istarted making the left turn i felt and heard a loud bang. The vehicle would not accelerate but i was able to coast to the side of the road, put vehicle in park but it would still roll, i then applied the emergency brake. I then proceeded to call my son, he asked me what happened, i told him that i heard a loud bang & the vehicle wouldn't accelerate & the vehicle kept rolling after it was in park, he said it sounds like i hada broken axeli then called aaa. Aaa arrived & asked me what happened & if the vehicle rolled when put in park, i said yes it still rolled & the driver told me i had a broken axel. I had the vehicle towed to my son's garage, where he replaced the front passenger side axel, that indeed had snapped in half. This happened as i was turning onto busy rt 27 in sharon, ma. Now i'm worried that the drivers side axel could snap in half while i'm driving my vehicle.

The car has approximately 118,000 < miles. I was stopped at a red light that led to a highway. When the light turned green, i pressed the accelerator and heard a loud bang. The engine was running but the car did not move.i had the car brought to a honda dealership. Upon their inspection, i was told both front axles were broken. According to the service rep, one axle disintegrated and the other had a noticeablecrack in it. I requested the damaged components be saved for an investigation isn't this a safety concern? what if this happened while i was driving on the highway?

The left front axle shaft broke in june 2018, with 89,032 odometer miles, and the right axle shaft broke december 3, 2019 with 105,436 miles. In the most recent instance i was stopped on a hill, with a car behind me, and when i tried to accelerate the axle broke and my car started rolling backwards. I applied the brakes quickly enough to avoid hitting the car behind me. In the first instance my wife was driving the car miles from home where she was stranded until a tow truck could be called. My mechanic says he is seeing this with some frequency on honda fits, and it seems to be the result of rust where honda installs a rubber vibration damper at the axle. The potential for a serious incident is obvious if the car were to lose propulsion on a busy highway at high speed, or where the car suddenly starts to roll backwards as i experienced. And apparently this is becoming a common problem with the honda fit, and maybe other models with the same design.the repair of both axles have cost us a total of $740.00.

The passenger side axle snapped in two inside the rubber damper weight at its center. As honda forums on the internet show, this is becoming more common as fits age. The damper is held in place by only one stainless steel clamp ( at its lower end). Since water and salt can enter its upper end , without a clamp there, it stays in the space between the axle and damper and the corrosion begins. Even aftermarket manufacturers have diagnosed the problem and left the damper off their axles. When this break happened the vehicle was starting off from a stop and turning right on a city street.

Driveshaft fractured and the car wouldn't move please refer to nhtsa recall 14v-258 for similar or same details.

Right front axle broke twice in one year at boot. Replaced by honda only to break 10,000 miles later.

Moving forward after red light stop; heard a "clunk" and something dropped. Could not move forward. I only have 74,000 miles on car and it lives in my garage. No accidents and although we have potholes in ne i have never hit a bad one that even knocked the alignment out.i was in the middle of a dangerous intersection when this happened! police had to come to direct traffic around me. I'm now worried this could happen on the highway!!

Stopped at red light. When green i had barely put foot on gas when i heard"clunk" and felt something drop.could not move forward. Front driver side axel broke. Only 74k miles and car lives in garage. No accident, not even large potholes.never knocked out of alignment.busy intersection so police came to direct traffic.i see other identical complaints online. I am worried the other side will break when i am on the highway!

Car was stopped in a roundabout.upon accelerating there was a loud clunk and the car quit moving under it's own power.the passenger side drive axle had snapped underneath the vibration dampner.examination of the broken axle shows extreme rust had occurred under the vibration dampner reducing the axle's diameter and thus weakening the axle.

When accelerating from a stop, i heard a loud bang followed by a buzzing/grinding sound. The engine was still running but the car would not move forward or in reverse. The car was towed to my mechanic who told me the axel had snapped at the location of a vibration damper.

While coming to a stop on a hill on a 4 lane highway, there was a sudden loud noise and the car started to roll backward.

Right rear passenger seat belt buckle was found broken with the red release button out of the buckle.the belt can no longer be used.honda dealer refused to replace the buckle under warranty.the buckle failed for no apparent reason and that seating position can no longer be used safely.

Right rear seat belt was fastened around a child. It locked and became tighter and tighter until child had trouble breathing. Seat belt would not unlatch. Had to cut seatbelt to rescue child.

I just started driving my car longer distances to work and my neck and shoulders are killing me. Upon further research it is because of a terrible decision for "safety" how can it be safety when driving every day injures your back and neck. I turned the head rest around backwards and it is slightly better but for someone my size (5'1" woman) it is terribly uncomfortable to drive with these head rests. I plan on straightening the curve myself this weekend. Whiplash has to be better than this. Please test this safety bs on humans and not just crash dummies. I would seriously need a chiropractor if this continued.

Driver's seat suddenly locks in position so that it will not side forward or back.since the driver needs to move the seat back to get out of the car and forward to reach the pedals to drive, she was not able to drive the car back from running errands.

In extreme cold weather the brake pedal is rock hard and will not budge. After warming it up it will work, but intermittently, it will happen while driving. I will go to push the brake pedal and it won't budge and the car keeps going. I nearly crashed the other day. It has happened more than once. It's a very dangerous situation and if anyone were walking in front of my car during the episode, they would be killed.the other day i was able to swerve toward a guard rail instead of hitting the car in front of me. In the mornings i have to let the car warm up because i cannot even press on the hard brake. I'm not alone after researching this. It's not the brakes themselves. They work fine, it is the brake pedal and something mechanical, a valve or hose or something. I'm not a mechanic, but i'm a daughter, a mother, a sister, a grandmother, and a friend. I want to stick around! this happens when the car is stationary and when the car is moving. Luckily it has happened when i was on backroads and the car behind me noticed me having trouble and slowed down. I lost all control.

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. While driving 40 mph, the brakes failed and the contact rear ended the preceding vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained left leg injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a collision lot where it was repaired for the damage. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v061000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,970.

While driving or idling, my car radio will turn off and my power steering will stop working. It almost immediately starts working again (both radio and power steering), so i cannot identify if any other electrical systems are affected. It appears that the lights and blinkers are working and i do not believe that the engine shuts off, but i can not say that for sure.stopping the car and waiting several minutes before restarting seems to fix the problem temporarily, but it can reoccur at any time. I have counted it occurring 12 times driving 3/4 mile at speeds of 25 miles per hour. I typically experience it while driving straight.the car has 57,000 miles and goes to the dealership regularly for scheduled maintenance.

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the vehicle became uncontrollable. The contact was unable to maneuver the vehicle and crashed into a pole. The contact was not injured and a police report was not filed. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was neither inspected nor repaired to determine why the vehicle became uncontrollable.the approximate failure mileage was 500.

Electronic power steering light turned on intermittently. This caused the steering wheel to lock up or be really hard to steer. This typically happens at lower speed or when idle. This can occur mid steer at times as well.

I having intermittent loss of power steering.so far it has happened mostly with low speed turns.i will have to use more effort to complete the turn when this happens.i had the power steering light come on while driving straight ahead once for a few seconds.60,000 miles on car so far with no problems in the past and no accidents.

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. While driving approximately 60 mph, the steering seized and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred multiple times intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the electronic power steering unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

The contact owns 2012 honda fit. The contact noticed that the tires appeared worn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed alignment failure. The tires were replaced and the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made awareof the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000. Http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/comment/3559372my car would not start today and eps light displays. Upon research, it appears that 2007-2010 models have no recall but link above deals with someone with a brand new 2012 fit that had a serious issue when their car was 2 months old. Mine is obviously older now, but note that it has less than 24k miles on the odometer. Please investigate if there are more such issues out there that i do not know of, since loss of power steering can be a big problem. Apparently, the older models were not recalled, but honda supposedly extended the warranty on that part up to 150k miles. No such accommodation has been made for my 2012, but i find it questionable that the power steering is an issue for me at under 24k miles as it has been for the other person.i will have the car towed to the shop tomorrow.

Our well-maintained honda fit has developed an issue where the eps steering light comes on sporadically during driving.in each of these events, the steering assist sometimes cuts out for a second or two causing me to have to manually control the steering. In all event instances, cabin power is affected: power to radio will restart, and sometimes dashboard lights go as well. In more severe instances dashboard lights and seatbelt lights cutout momentarily and a steering dtc shines quickly in the dummy light cluster.environment:eps steering issues happen at all manner of speeds and manuevers - regular backroad driving, parking lots and even sitting idle.car hardly has been driven the past few years (under 7500/year) and has never hit anything, been bumped (or if it did, we didn't know about it) nor been in an accident of any kind. We are in a salt-belt state. Problem started occurring late december 2020, during regular cold weather (30-45 degrees consistently); it is not garaged.

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, the steering wheel seized and became completely unresponsive. The contact was unable to steer the vehicle in any direction and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a curb. The contact was not injured and a police report was not filed of the incident. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the rack and pinion was replaced. The tires were replaced twice. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,300.

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. The contact stated that while driving 53 mph and making a left turn, the steering wheel became hard to maneuver. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 19,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. The contact stated that while reversing at unknown speeds, she attempted to make a sharp turn but the vehicle failed to respond to steering attempts and crashed into a pole. The contact also mentioned that the failure recurred twice, both incidents resulting in a crash. There were no injuries in either crash. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

While driving car when the eps light comes on and power steering cuts out mid-drive. Usually, this is while the car is hot, but not always. Sometimes, i can turn the car off and the power steering resets, but it will often cut out again. This can happen at any time. I'm terrified that it will cut off and i'll get in an accident.

Eps warning light at slow vehicle speed. Lost of steering power assist.

Unintential drifting at highway seeds from 58 to 70 mph. By the time you get to 70 the vehicle is almost uncontrolable. Can not keep the vehicle center laned. I am not the olny one having this problem.

2012 honda fit.consumer writes in regards to vehicle extreme wind sensitivity.the consumer stated while driving 70 mph in dry conditions, with a strong wind hitting the side of the vehicle from the east, all of sudden a gust nearly ripped the steering wheel out of his hands and in a split second, he found himself blown into the right lane and headed toward the shoulder at a 45 degree angle. The consumer believed the vehicle was unsafe at any speed over 60 mph.

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. The contact stated that while reversing out of his driveway the front axle fractured. The failure occurred while the contact was shifting from reverse to drive. The contact heard a grinding and clicking noise and the vehicle failed to move forward or backward. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with a fractured front axle mid-shaft on the driver's side. The failure was caused by corrosion. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 47,800.

I thought my daughter needed balance & alignment, however instead we had to replace the right lower control arm & ball joint. Imagine my surprise when i was told that a vehicle less than 50k miles-never involved in a accident, good condition required this kind of work! it's only 3 yrs old! i called the honda dealer (in case there was a recall that i was unaware of) nope-no recall. My mechanic told me this was certainly a factory defect! thank god-her wheel did not come off while driving, causing an accident or something worse! anyways-$460.14 later-she is safe and vehicle is running smooth. I am very disappointed in this vehicle design. I strongly feel that honda should have been on top of this issue. Just because a car is economical doesn't mean it has to be poorly designed.my poor daughter is trying to plan her wedding. Can you imagine if something would have happened to her or anyone else on the road! how careless! i would never recommend this car to anyone-ever!

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. The contact stated that the driver's side front axle was fractured due to water settling inside of the rubber damper causing severe rust and the part to fail. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and provided a case number and informed that a representative would give him a callback. The contact was also informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall related to the failure. The failure mileage was 143,000.

2012 honda fit.consumer writes in regards to tpms unit failure three times.

The traction control is not functioning properly. The vehicle is not able to climb an incline, while road is mildly covered in snow. Driver has to dangerously turn around or stop and call for assistance.

Takata recall: this issue was given at least 2 years ago. I have called hall's honda in va beach, va several times especially during the 1st year it was recalled. I was always told that the part was not available. I can again when i received a letter from dmv. I was told a certain person would call me back, and he never did.9/15

Spark plug #3 was missing a piece. The metal hook on the base. The damaged/faulty spark plug caused the car to stall. The car would be unable to go above 20 mph. This first happened when i was accelerating on the entrance ramp to the highway, causing a highly unsafe situation.

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in park, she depressed the brake pedal and the engine revved. The contact shifted the vehicle into neutral, took her foot off the brake pedal and turned the vehicle off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection but they could not determine the cause of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda fit. While depressing the brake pedal and coming to a complete stop, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to stop; however, the failure recurred an hour later when parking the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,000.

Accelerator pedal sticks when i am stopped and start to accelerate trying to pull out into traffic.i am trying to move straight at times, and other times turning. After two or three pushes on the accelerator, it will engage and i can continue.i understand there was a recall for this matter, but my vin # is not included.(unfortunately, i cannot find the recallor the recall # online anymore.) i feel that it should be investigated to see if other vehicles also have this problem.mine does, and it's a scary feeling to see a vehicle coming toward you at a fast speed and your vehicle won't move.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 12,700 and the current mileage was 19,000.updated 05/12/14 mathe consumer was involved in 2 accidents, due to the vehicles sudden deceleration and acceleration. Updated 05/15/14

My vehicle suddenly accelerated to a very rapid speed.i had just started up the car and was reversing out of the garage when the vehicle accelerated.i attempted to stop but was unable to do so.then the car suddenly returned to normal.

This was the first of two incidents of sudden acceleration. Both times parking the car and giving it a little gas to ease into a space the car took off at high rate of speed; the first time, almost crashing into my garage door and the second time jumping a sidewalk and almost hitting a metal hand rail. I took it to honda dealership and they said they could find nothing wrong, and said i must have hit both brake and accelerator at same time. However, since my foot is too small to be able to do that, and i was driving barefoot at the time, i am positive that was not what happened. After receiving car back, i checked and was unable to place my foot on both pedals at the same time.

The sun visors are poorly designed.it works well in the forward position, but not so when turned to the side window.the visor tilts up at least 30 degrees from horizontal, when it is turned toward the side window.the result is the visor is inches too high to block the sun.the visors are useless at the side windows, creating a safety hazard for the driver, whenever the sun is on the left of the car. My wife and i are 5' 7" and 5' 10"we have not encountered any other car with this problem in our combined 80+ years of driving.the honda dealer cannot do anything.the part works, as it was designed.i reported the matter to honda america today.
