I have called honda numerous times but they have not replaced air bag yet.

Honda has replaced the driver airbag but not the passenger airbag.both the dealer here in il and honda on the west coast initially indicated that the passenger airbag was not part of the recall - however, they stated they could not tell me what brand or make of passenger airbag was installed.it seemed very strange to me that a car manufacturer who utilizes just-in-time parts installation would have a takata airbag for the driver side and a non-takata (or different model takata airbag) on the passenger side - thus i requested honda customer service mgr on the west coast contact honda japan to determine the exact make/model of the passenger airbag.in early december 2016 honda customer service stated the passenger airbag was indeed a takata airbag of the type requiring replacement.i was told an additional recall would be forthcoming and that i should secure replacement in 2017.i have checked your safer.gov website with my vin and the passenger airbag has not been added.has honda apprised you that additional airbags require replacement, and if so, when will you update your website to reflect same.the dealer will not replace the airbag gratis until such time as the unit is recalled.await your advice/update. Thank you.

I am traveling out of state for several months and honda does not guarantee reimbursement for rental charges i incur making it so i have no vehicle to drive.

I have been contacting heritage honda in westminster md for over a year in response to a safety recall letter to repair my airbags, but was told the repair parts aren't available. A year???????when will honda repair the faulty airbag inflator? i feel my safety is in jeopardy.thank you.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

This is a follow up to my original complaint nhtsa id number: 10554185 now with this nationwide airbag recall i suspect my incident is related but am very concerned that after my complaint my vehicle does not appear on the recall list.obviously since then i have repaired my vehicle but at my expense. After contacting this agency, honda headquarters in us and the honda dealer at the time i got no help or guidance, and yet a year later there is this massive recall on airbags that took years and multiple stages and loss of life to come to light. At the time of my incident emergency response and police remarked that in all of their experience they had not witnessed the state of how and why my airbags deployed.does this not raise a flag now?please help.

2011 honda fit(4 door model) struck sloped end of poorly lighted low conrete road construction barrier. Vehicle rolled over three times, landing upright.none of vehicle's airbags inflated.

Takata recall - the story: during the last several years, we have checked online at all of the various web sites to see if this vehicle was under a recall for the airbags. Each time, we found that this car was not listed. In march of this year, we received a safety recall letter from honda, regarding the front takata airbags. We took the car to the dealer, and they held it for several weeks, plus they provided us with a rental car, as the vehicle was "unsafe" to drive. When i picked up the car, i noticed on the work order that only the driver's side airbag was replaced. (i had assumed both front airbags would be replaced.) when i questioned the service rep, he simply said that the passenger airbag was not a part of the recall. In july, we received the 2nd recall letter from honda, this time for the passenger air bag. When i called our service rep, he informed me that alternate transportation would not be provided!i called honda customer service and spoke to several people. They all told me different things. The first one told me that the airbag would not deploy in an accident, due to a "sensor" in the passenger seat. When i checked out our car, it turns out that this is not true! the airbag will deploy, even if the seat is not occupied! our car does not have this "sensor" feature!after waiting several days for the promised "return call" from case management, i called honda at 888-999-1009. Talked with a rep who told me that she could find no record of my ever having called,or any case set up and sent to case management!all of the previous reps had simply lied to me!now, i am simply waiting for a phone call, with a car that i cannot drive. It is unsafe.i need for honda to talk to me, and make a decision. I can take them to court to recover the cost of a rental car , if necessary.honda case no. 04897936.

I want to know if the airbags on my car need replacing.

Takata recall!!!!!first it was driver side airbag after separately paying $700 to get mpg back to spec.airbag:entered dealer getting 33 mpg, left getting 28mpg.same thing happened when a repair shop did my emissions test. A friend got mpg again back to spec 33 charged $125(not $700). Now honda wants to fix the passenger side airbag!!! wanted $1000 to replacea defective windshield with a new defective windshield. Google search the guy who got four of them!!! safelite charged ~$450. Several people said nothing is "free" about recalls, and i do not want honda touching my car!!! i have communicated, that i want someone i can trust to do the airbag, to at least 5 honda representatives and their response is always the same: silence!... And then more screaming red mail!!!! well i am screaming too!!!!!tell me of an independent non-honda shop i can take it to,and i will be happy to get this deadly thing out of my car!!!!! now you want a date????? been harassed and ripped off for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sick of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i should just sell that deadly pc of junk!!!!! there is more unrelated stuff i could waste your time and mine telling you

2010 honda fit.consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair driver front airbag inflator recall notice.

As i was driving on the service road a vehicle in front of me stopped short, i steered my vehicle to the leftside of the road to avoid a collision.it was raining and the road was slick causing my car to go into a tail spin. I gained control of my car without making impact to anything and my driver side airbags deployed, although my airbags burst out they did not appear to inflate completely.also my driver side seat belt completely came out of its track.i suffered a scratch/burn on the left side of my neck and a bruise below my right shoulder from the seatbelt. Ambulance and police were called to the scene. I have a police report, the police commented that they had never witnessed a similar situation of how and why my airbags and seatbelt were in that condition without skid marks or impact.

Takata recall- i received the notice for the passenger airbag recall in july 2016 and called to follow up with the notice. I was told that the part would be in within a month, but have followed up multiple times regarding this because the part has been backlogged. It has been over 60 days since my initial phone call relaying my concern with the safety of this car. Honda has failed to remedy this situation within a reasonable timeframe. All they tell me each time i call is to wait until the part comes in. This is the only car that our family uses to commute to/from work, and seeing as how we have a full family, someone has to sit in the passenger seat. Being pregnant, i am concerned for my and my baby's safety. I do not appreciate expressing my concerns for my safety and honda's response being to just sit and wait until the part comes in. They should be making more of an effort to fix this issue, especially since it is now october 2016. I am highly disappointed in honda's service.

Air bag did not deploy during front end collision (car rear-ended another). Had been travelling ~40 mph; braked over a distance of approximately 3 to 4 car lengths while travelling down hill. Driver sustained concussion.

I had once own this vehicle in which i was making payments. I had slid on ice and snow one year and went into a ditch and hit a mail box which was attached to a post. There was damage underneath as well as a little damage on the passenger side. The air bag never did deploy and i recently had a notice in the mail that the vehicle may be listed having a defective airbag

Danger (even death can occur) regarding airbag on passenger side.replacement not available until the fall.they will not give a loaner car in the interim

Takata recallhonda offers to provide a rental vehicle to the owners of the affected cars until it has the remedy parts to fix the driver's airbag sometime in summer 2016. However:1) honda does not provide insurance on that rental vehicle and expects the customers to pay for insurance. Insurance on rental vehicles is expensive ($30 a day or so). I believe pushing that expense to the customers is unacceptable.2) honda does not authorize a second driver on the rental it provides, which is not the way family cars are used. I believe this is also unacceptable.thank you,

The car was being pulled out of the driveway onto the street, at about 5 mph, when both the driver's and passenger's side airbags deployed. The car did not hit anything, and shows no visible damage. A police report was filed, in which the officer stated that there was no apparent reason for the airbags to have deployed.

Takata recall.two letters from honda but no remedy given.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag indicated that the air bag was turned off without anyone or anything in the seat which should only occur when someone under 80 pounds was in the seat. The dealer inspected the vehicle and was unable to diagnose the failure. The dealer also replaced the seat, but the failure continued to occur. The failure mileage was 7000 and the current mileage was 8200.

Takata recall. Honda has not remedied this issue in a timely manner. I was told the matter would be handled in 2016 and it has not. It has been more than sixty days since i was notified of the recall and i have not been able to drive my car with a passenger, which is a tremendous inconvenience.

This information regarding takata airbags has been under "discussion" since 2004.here we are 2016 i receive a recall notice "in the event of rupture metal fragments . . .may cause serious injury or fatality to you or others in the vehicle" a call to my honda service manager - no parts to repair this "defect" and they have not yet received notification from honda as to when the parts may be available.i can leave my car in service for the time it takes honda to repair my vehicle but this is not a practical or satisfactory solution.the onus falls on honda motors.this recall is reprehensible - a serious flaw which could result in death, but as yet no solution for honda fit drivers. Shame shame on you honda motors - but they have made it obvious they could care less about folks who buy honda products because of their dependability.the satisfaction guarantee is a lie.this is not customer service or quality care that i expect from honda.please force then into action.

Takata recallwe received a letter dated march of 2016 and honda is telling us that the part for the passenger air bag won't be available until this fall and they have no idea when the part will be available for the driver air bag. They advised us to try and drive the car less! this is unacceptable. The parts should've been available immediately upon sending out a recall notice or what was the point of sending a notice in the first place?

I am not sure how this notification from honda regarding honda fit recall affects other folks who have received this mailing, but i find honda's management of this defect in their cars reprehensible.better i should have continued driving my car not knowing that "honda has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists" and that "the defect in these vehicles could kill or injure you or other people in your vehicle."uh better still "we apologize for any inconvenience (death, maiming or serious injury) this recall may cause you it really sucks for you the driver because these parts will not be available until the summer of 2016.i purchased a honda because i expected better customer relations.it is ludicrous to recall vehicles, yet not have repair parts available until some nebulous time in the future.shame on you, honda motors.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I bought the car in march 2013.i have noticed that while using the air conditioner that when i go to turn it off the dial is hot to the touch.the same thing happens when i use the heater, the dial is hot to the touch.

Engine wiring was chewed and heavily damaged by rodents.i am concerned because engine bay is easily accesable from the bottom of the car, there is no sheilding.i also read that on this paticular model the wiring insulation is soy based, possibly attracting rodents to said eat wiring.

Hvac motor/blower only works on high speed. Makes horrible grinding noises at times, not always.

Burnt out ac switch due to excessive heating by the light bulb embedded in the switch. There was a smell of burnt plastic or electrical burn smell.

2010 honda fit base while idling or in park i push the driver side power door lock master switchforwardto "on" position. Intermittently there is a a high pitch screeching sound. Dealer stated the whole switch needs to be replaced and that it is electrical switch issue with intermittent short. This will be done under warranty. An online search shows that honda corp in tokyo (september 2011) has issued a recall of 963,000 honda fit and cr-v worldwide (including u.s.) for this same problem. However the dealer said my vin is not under recall...hmmm?

Car was driven off the lot with 7 miles on odometer in april 2010. Passes all nh state inspections. Had no indication there was any issue with car until i went to reregister in january of 2011. Car would not pass nh state inspection because the emissions monitoring computer was in a default state. Had dealership look at it and they were able to get the nh state inspection to pass after replacing a relay. In january 2012, had same issue. This time they replaced a main electrical junction box. Again in 2013, failed nh state inspection. Dealership could not find an issue, but was able to get car to pass. Again in january 2014, then january 2015.dealership talked with honda engineers, but no resolution was available. I was informed it was due to the winter and the slow turnover of the car was dropping the electrical power below 10v, and resetting computer. Not satisfied with this result.

Malfunction 1: while being driven with cruise control engaged, car without any dashboard signal warning begins to progressively and involuntarily decelerate. It will not respond to application of the increase speed button on the cruise control panel nor will it increase speed with the accelerator pedal is pushed. Eventually the car will shut off on its own. Takes multiple tries of restarting it to get it to move again.dates: 11-25-10 & 1-30-11. Malfunction 2:the gears periodically will not engage between 2nd, 3rd, 4th. This lasts a few seconds while the car is moving. Since 9/2010, this has happened 4 times.updated ivoq 03/04/11

The a/c switch on the dash is defective. I turn it on, the a/c clutch engages but, then i can't turn it off... Causing the a/c to run constantly, even in the winter.

Vehicle suddenly spun to the right 180 degrees and slide sideways and over an embankment and onto its side. Vehicle was traveling at approximately 35 mph on a straight section of highway 31 north in whitehall michigan. Vehicle was under light power (pressure on the gas pedal) on a snowy/icy road. Temperature was in the low 20 degrees. Car had been driven for about an hour when the failure occurred. Video camera in the car recorded a possible electrical failure, which may have effected vehicle's electric power steering system causing the car to lose positive control. Vehicle has a history of headlights burning out and being replaced on a yearly bases, both main headlights and fog lights. Car also has a history of electrical flickering. Driver is 6o year old male with 44 years of driving experience in winter conditions with no accidents.

With headlights on and heater blower running the headlights dim significantly and the blower motor reduces its velocity, as if an electrical failure is about to occur. Dealer said nothing is wrong.

Hvac blower motor works only on high speed (4). Speeds 1-3 don't work on the fan for ac, heat, or any of the various hvac settings.

Air conditioning stoped working. And radiador fans stay one when i turn off car

Key will not go in all the way to the ignition, so cannot start the engine.part: 06351tf0a11 (lock cylinder) was required to be replaced

Wife drove car to work on rainy day and opened window to use key card to enter parking garage. When leaving work window would not open. I am a mechanic and inspected switches on master switch when wife arrived home that day. Window would surge up with switch placed in up position no operation in down position. I ordered new drivers window master switch online and replaced unit and it fixed the problem. I am reporting this because i noticed honda fit older models had a recall for window switch issues. I think they still have a issue with moisture getting to the switch solder board.switch part number 35750-tk6-a01 $154.00.

While steering on the road (in motion), our 2010 honda fit suddenly jerks in the opposite direction from the turn, leading to a number of near-miss accidents. The problem was first noticed in fall of 2018.dealer was able to replicate the problem and says the electronic steering rack and box are "bad" and need to be replaced at a cost of $2400.the car has never been in any sort of accident or catastrophic incident, and there are no signs of damage to components (like tie rod ends) -- it's just the steering that is suddenly unreliable.

Since purchase 2010 i have noted a suspicion of vehicle's electrical system. I have spoken numerous times of this suspicion and issues of concern to friends and family andwith dealership. Dealership told me they are unable to check the electronic system.. Loss of power steering power electrical surges while in motion on highway and secondary roads. Driving on highway ramps onto freeway, also exiting freeway on exit ramps.goggled honda fit power steering problems a lot of other people have same problems very.dangerous for my 20 yr daughter first vehicle thank you for your time.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit. While driving various speeds and making a turn, there was a loss of power steering without warning. In addition, the rear brake light failed to function and the front driver side door failed to operate with the key or fob. The vehicle was maneuvered to a safe location. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the alternator would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 36,500. The vin was unavailable.

2010 honda fit.consumer writes in regards to vehicle underbody exposed wires damaged by rodents that caused transmission malfunction. The consumer stated the underbody had exposed wires that were open to the ground. Rodents had eaten into the wires in the past two months, the first incident caused a transmission malfunction; the vehicle slammed into gear upon starting and then again at 25 mph. The second time, the engine coolant temperature sensor wire was gnawed and not functioning. After doing some research, the consumer discovered honda was apparently using biodegradable, soy-based wiring that attracted rodents.

My daughter had an accident, this is her account: i was driving my 2010 honda fit on highway 880 northbound in the vicinity of alameda on friday, january 16th 2015. I had been driving for at least a half hour on the highway and was in the left most lane going about 70 mph. Suddenly without any warning my car began to swerve violently to the right into the lane to my right. My first thought was that one of the tires had blown out, so i took my foot off the gas and did not touch the brakes, thinking just that i should try to keep the car away from other vehicles and as gently as i could bring it to the side of the road away from traffic. Immediately after the first swerve, the car did not react in the slightest to my steering attempts to keep it straight or away from traffic, and it swerved left and right a couple more times before hitting the concrete median on the left hand side of the highway. The front of the car crunched into the median, and the whole car flipped on its passenger side and scraped against the median before finally coming to a halt upside down. Once the car stopped i saw that miraculously nothing inside of the car was impeding my exit, and the glass on both the windows had completely shattered, so i undid my seatbelt and crawled out of the passenger side window and immediately stood up. Thankfully no other cars or passengers were involved, 911 was called, and the policeman who came said the incident sounded like it was due to tire damage from my description but then examined the wheels of the car and reported that he didn?t see anything awry with them, leaving the cause of the accident a mystery. I heard no sounds preceding the swerving, smelled no strange smells, noticed nothing strange about the car?s steering, and have had no indication whatsoever of anything being ?off? with the car before the incident.

A spark plug came out of cylinder head while driving. This damaged the cylinder headand ignition system. Fuel economy suffered. It allowed exhauset fumes to be drawn into the passenger compartment causing nausea and dizziness.

This is a reproducible problem!!it happens every time if the air temperature is below 55 degrees. If the vehicle has not been heated for 5 minutes before driving out to the road, the engine would be dead either at an uphill stop sign or during driving while the brake needs to be used. The battery sign lights first and followed by the oil light and then the engine would switch off.

The contact owned a 2010 honda fit. While driving approximately 55 mph the driver crashed into a pole and proceeded to crash into a tree located behind the pole. The vehicle rolled over and exploded into flames. The engine detached from the vehicle.the fire and police department reported to the scene and filed a report. The driver sustained burns to sixty percent of his body and a fractured right arm. The driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The vehicle was towed to an auto shop for inspection by the insurance company. The vehicle was destroyed. The cause of the fire was undetermined. The approximate failure mileage was 23,000.

I was driving my 2010 honda fit sport automatic at 25mph on a city street, the engine suddenly shut off, all dashboard indicator lights and headlights went completely dark; i pulled the car over to the side of the road, noticing that power steering and brake assist were inactive so it was a challenge to get the car pulled over. The vehicle re-started on the first attempt and i was able to drive home. The dealership was unable to diagnose the problem and gave the vehicle back to me with no repair work done. 9 days later, the same thing happened. This time the vehicle was stopped at a red light and the engine shut off, dashboard went dark, and my ipod was frozen, which was connected through the usb port(it was not connected during the first stall). The engine did not start on the first or second attempt, but on the third. Once the vehicle started, i tried to shift from park to drive, but the shifter was stuck and would not shift. I put on my hazard lights, and spent about 60 seconds trying to shift from park to drive before it actually became unstuck and allowed me to shift. At that point i then drove away, i had beenblocking traffic at a busy intersection, and then noticed that the ipod was frozen and would not respond to my restart attempts. I eventually figured out how to reset the ipod and it works fine now. The dealership was unable to diagnose the problem (again), and kept it at their shop for 9 days straight.they eventually told me i just had to take it back, so i did. No warning lights ever were displayed on both the incidents.

The axle on my car has broke three different times in the past 8 months, not the result from an accident. I turned out of a gas station at and heard a pop and then a loud knocking noise. Car would not go forwards or backwards.

Front axle snapped

From arolling stop, took a right hand turn from a paved parking lot onto a slight inclined well paved country road. During moderate acceleration in drive mode (not using the equipped cvt paddle shifters) approximately 1 car length from starting point a loud sound occured, car lost forward momentum2 approximately in 2 car lengths and proceeded to roll backwards back into the parking lot into a parking space while still in drive. Car now can roll in any gear including park. No dashboard warning lights were on prior or after this event. There was no warning this would occure. This event was over as quickly as it occured. No cars were approaching in either direction during the event. No unusual sounds after. Engen turns over without issues. Car is very well maintained with lots of new parts and service. Mostly highway and paved open country road driving. After starting engen, putting in drive or reverse car does not move, no unusual sounds while pushing on accelerator pedal in any gear. Car towed to home on a lorry where it now sits as of 02/2019. Milage approx 194000 miles.

I had come to a stop sign on a city street in xenia, ohio and when i applied the gas to pull out i heard a clunk and the car didn't move forward but the engine continued to run normally.i surmised something went wrong with the power train.i called aaa and they thought the same, the tow driver having been a mechanic for many years said broken drive shafts on hondas was a common problem.it was towed to a honda dealership in beavercreek, oh and it was found the left side drive shaft had broken and needed replaced.are broken drive shafts common on hondas?i have attached the repair bill.

After a stop at traffic light, when trying to go from it on a green signal, suddenly automatic transmission failed and vehicle not engaging any gear. Had to put it in neutral and pushed carto side of the road for safety concern. Tranmission place mentionedit as transmission failure causing axles to broke and parts in transmission damaged/sprinkled or in pieces.

My front passenger side cv axel failed a year ago. Miraculously it happened in the parking lot of a service station who then did the repair so i didn’t need a tow.it just happened again. When i got towed i was told that they are towing honda fits regularly so it is likely due to a design problem. Luckily i had just made a left turn into a business parking lot from a busy business street (vt state highway 302) when the car stopped moving and i could not get it into gear. It wouldhave been really dangerous if it failed at higher speed and/or in the middle of a on busy road.

On february 1, 2019, our 2010 honda fit's left front axle broke suddenly under normal acceleration in a straight line from a stop, on level ground.upon inspection, found that the axle had corroded to the point that well under half of the original cross section was still intact.this corrosion occurred under the vibration dampening collar. Suspected cause of corrosion is road salt brine entering between the collar and axle.vehicle mileage at time of failure was 76,183.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 20v770000 (power train) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

I was driving my honda fit north on hwy 35 in alvin, texas. When i rear ended a gmc canyon pickup truck. My car made a popping sound filled inside of car with smoke, my airbags had tried to deploy but did so internally, the driver and passenger seat belts didn't catch they came all the way out.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit. The contact stated the driver and passenger side seat belt shoulder straps would not engage properly across the chest area and it also began to rub against the neck which caused chafing. The seat belt was not inspected by the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 5. The vin was unavailable.

Seat belt on passenger front seat in my 2010 honda fit sport ratchets and will not release despite multiple trips to the dealer nothing has been done. All the dealer did was say maybe passenger is too fat for the car. We also own a 2007 honda fit sport and have not had that issue with that car. The issue appears to be caused by a shorter seatbelt being used in the 2010 as opposed to the 2007.

Air bag did not deploy during front end collision (car rear-ended another). Had been travelling ~40 mph; braked over a distance of approximately 3 to 4 car lengths while travelling down hill. Driver sustained concussion.

My brand new 2010 honda fit sport is breaking my neck!the design of the headrest does not allow me to sit in a comfortable position.because of chronic back problems, i normally drive with the seat back in an almost vertical position.the tilt of the headrest forces my head forward.within minutes, the pain in my neck and back becomes unbearable.

Seats in honda fit 2010 are causing severe back problems to the point that i may need to have surgery.i am not prone to severe lower back problems but since purchasing this vehicle i have been to the doctor 3 times and seen a physiotherapist. The doctor has now made an appointment for me with a physatrist and if this doctor cannot resolve my problem, i will have to have back surgery.

I purchased honda fit and drove it home to realize that i have to either drive without a head restraint and compromise my safety or not be able to drive for more than 20 minutes a day. The head rest pushes my head forward and strains my neck to the point that i either have to sit upright away from the seat or stretch my neck far out in pain. Either way it is not safe, whether in case of accident or generally for my health. With no cool-off period on new cars in california, i cannot return the car which at this point has 12 miles on it, so i am forced to drive unsafely. I ran google search for honda head rest complaints and found out that customers have been complaining about honda's new head rests for the same very reason since 2007, for most of their models - from accord and odyssey to fit. What makes the matter worse is that you cannot reverse the headrest as there are grooves only on one of the two support poles. By making head restraint extremely uncomfortable to use, honda is forcing its customers to drive unsafely, specifically without head restraint. I spoke to service manager at my dealer and he told me that honda does not have adjustable or reversible head restraint. He is also aware of the complaints from the customers. Solution should be easy to implement by making the head rest reversible for those like me with neck or back problems. I drove hondas for 18 years and cannot believe that honda has not responded to 3 years of continuous complaints by the customers. There is no injuries yet, as the car is sitting in my garage as i am afraid to drive it.i don't have vin with me right now, but this issue is not specific to the car, it is widespread across the models of honda.

Front seats moving slightly with hard cornering or breaking. Based on comments obtained on internet, checked the front seat rail bolts and found two of them to be loose (one each on both the front seats).

I was traveling east on route 322 near dauphin, pa at about 55 mph.i was in the right hand lane.a car traveling in the left hand lane cut in front of me.to avoid hitting him, i applied the brakes hard.my car suddenly went out of control, fishtailing in the lane and then suddenly went into the left hand lane.i turned the steering wheel to the right.the rear end of the car swung around hitting a bridge abutment, bounced off, and went back into the right hand lane.i was finally able to straighten the car out and pull over to the shoulder and stop it.fortunately i did not hit anyone, but did significant damage to my car.this incident reminded me of an accident i had years ago with the chevy citation and the brakes locked on me.is the same thing happening with the fit?i know it has abs, but things can and do go wrong.i asked the repair shop to look at the brakes, they did not see anything.but the problem may not be visible.

I stopped fairly heavily, and while the car stopped well as expected, the brake pedal continued to drop almost to the floor. Mileage is approximately 58,000 miles. Rear brakes are oem..

I was driving west devon with the speed limit 20, i was going at 5 to 08 miles or less,in a second i felt the car accelerate by himself , i tried to stop, the breaks did not respond and hit a car in front of me.the impact was like some one was pushing me, when i hit the car and i have my seat belt on, the air bag did not work, for the damagein my car the was soo bad that the whole front was damage so bad for the speed, that i am not sure if this car safe for my wife to drive.this is wake call for the safety of my family i am sure as soon the repair is done i will trade this car.this car is like driving with plastic metal.i saw in the internet hondarecall some fit models.

I was driving on a freeway(slow lane) in santaclara, california at about 50 miles per hour. I saw a car infront of me stopped 100% near an exit. I applied brake really hard, even though there was more the4/5 car distance my car didn't stop and hit the car infront of me. My airbag opened and i received some burns. I am 100% sure i hit the brake really hard but my car took way too long time stop only after hitting a vehicle. Hope this car is recalled and does not cause inconvenience to others.

As i was making my right turn near my home, i unexpectedly saw my neighbor's car in the middle of the road in front of his drive way.i quickly stepped on my brakes to stop, but, my car didn't stop immediately and seemed to surge rather than slow down (potential problem with the fit abs). I then turned my steering wheel to the side walk to avoid hitting my neighbor's car while stepping on the brakes but the car still did not stop.the car went through the side walk and a next neighbor's bush and front lawn (about 20 meters). Eventually,i stomped on the brakes as hard as i could and stopped just short of the drive way on the top of a small bushi reported to honda america which sent an inspector to check my car.there was nothing wrong with the car, but, the inspector and the honda america customer service manager thought my goodyear rubber floor mat might be the cause.i told them during the 20 meters distance, i had enough time to notice that i was stepping on the brakes much harder than normally i would for the car to come to a complete stop.after i stopped the car, the first thing i checked was the car floor near the brake pedal.if the mat caused the problem, i would have noticed at that time.another honda customer service agent implied that i stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake.i told him that i could not have stepped on the accelerator since i did not change the pedal i was stepping on during the time it took to stop the car. The end result, i had to paid for the car damage.

I bought a new honda fit in aug 2010.last winter i had several frightening situations with brakes when there was snow on the ground.approaching other vehicles at a stop, the brakes would lock/not grip even at less than 5 mph. I took the car to dealer and they said nothing was wrong with the brakes, maybe i needed new tires (on a brand new car!) i spent the winter driving in terror of someone pulling out in front of me.i just took the car in today for a 1 year inspection - at 11,000 miles the brakes need replacement (dealer said i should do it at my next oil change for $290 and "maybe my emergency brake was not disengaging when i start off in the morning" - i drive a standard) i have been driving for 40 years and driving a standard for 21 years.the problem is the brakes, not my driving.

I was sideswiped on a wet road and went into a spin. The brakes partially engaged, through the abs system did not (no "chatter"). After i regained control of the vehicle and attempted to pull onto the shoulder, the brakes remained partially engaged (the car was gradually decelerating) - the brake pedal was completely unresponsive and i could neither disengage the brakes, nor increase the application to make the car come to a complete stop.after experimenting with pressing hard on the pedal and then pumping it a few times while traveling over a quarter mile, i ultimately had to use the emergency brake to come to a complete stop.i took the car to a honda dealership. The computer showed no codes and the technicians were unable to duplicate the problem.

The car's steering is extremely over-responsive, but is unfortunately not speed sensitive. As a result, if one takes their eyes off the road for even a second, the car often moves out of its lane. Both my wife and i have had several scary experiences, where we looked over our shoulder momentarily in preparation for a lane change, checked traffic on busy cross streets, or changed a heating or cooling setting, and found ourselves crossing over the centerline or nearing the ditch. The car does not track straight, and also tends to veer left or right after going over bumps. I am very concerned that one of us could get killed in either a head-on collision or by running into the ditch. The car is a base fit model, with a 5-speed manual.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit. While driving 40 to 45 mph, the power steering failed without warning. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, turned off, and restarted. The dealer was notified. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

The steering wheel intermittently freezes up, for about a second, at least once every day that i drive the car. No indicator lights on the dashboard turn on during or after these events. Several times it has been noticed while making turns, which is very unsettling. I no longer trust the vehicle's safety, and now feel the need to leave a very large distance when making a left turn in front of any oncoming car. I will not allow my wife to drive the car any more, for fear of her safety. I have heard that there is a recall for an eps failure for honda fits of previous model years, and want to know when the recall for this life threatening defect will be extended to the 2010 model year.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit.the contact stated that while driving 3-5 mph, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called first texas honda located at (3400 steck ave, austin, tx 78757 (512) 220-1121) where a service appointment was scheduled however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 82,397. The vin was invalid.

The contact owned a 2010 honda fit. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle collided with a bridge cement post. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but the vehicle had not been inspected to determine the air bag failure. The failure mileage was 69,323. The vin was not available.

I was hit on driver side by a older honda accord model vehicle year 2000 body type; the accord was making a left turn on a green light that just changed from red, so he wasn't going fast (im assuming) when he hit me while i was passing the intersection at about 49mph. I want to report the vehicle that i was driving is unsafe and handled poorly, lost total control, brakes and steering locked, rolled over four to five times hitting a traffic light pole; the stability of vehicle is very poor and engine, transmission everything fell apart under the hood. I am requesting for this matter to be investigated, im insured the car is here at my house for now, you have permission to come here to see it or work it out with my insurance company.thank you and this is serious, you need to check out what happened through those intersection camera's on september 10, 2014 around 1030am, camino real & hwy 76, bonsall california.

I have a 2010 fit sport that doesn't wander or pull, drives great. I have another 2010 fit sport never damaged with 6000 miles that: 1. Wanders badly2. Pulls left when decelerating and right when accelerating.3. Will not return to straight when released. You must return it yourself and hunt for straight down the road yourself.all 3 defects are a big safety hazard: you will be in the oncoming lane or curb before you can correct it.the local honda dealer has been unable to fix it. The only thing they did was increase the toein some and said that was all they could do. I am about to make a formal complaint to all who will listen. In each case it is in the other lane in less than 10 seconds if left to its self. The car is dangerous and a real safety hazard. Are there a service bulletins/recalls concerning this?

Steering wheel has been suddenly, and intermittently, turning immediately 90 degrees where i have to correct the wheel in order to avoid a crash. Typically happens on slight turns, like getting on or off a hwy ramp or turning on a red light. Goodyear tire said they are seeing electrical issues with the power steering and informed me this isn't a drivable car unless $2400 repair. The suddenness of this could have resulted in death, especially at the speed.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit.the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel locked up making it hard to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that the power steering assist warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 20v770000 (power train). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,956. The consumer stated the dealer advised the failure was not included in the recall.

I made a right turn and the steering wheel would not straighten.i was forced to continue turning.it was a congested area in front of boston back bay rail station.luckily, there was a space in the drop off lane to my right with no person or car in the way and i was able to brake and stop without injuring anybody.my honda fit is the s model which has controls on the cross-bar of the steering wheel for clutch-less shifting.the righthand control had caught on my winter coat. And prevented the wheel from returning to the upright position.note that i am short (5'1") so that i have the seat forward in order to reach the pedals.this puts me closer to the wheel than most people.i could easily have hit a car or pedestrian because of these unnecessary shifters.they really should be replaced by d 1 2 on the stick so that a driver can access the lower ratios when necessary with out the danger of getting caught.

This started with a little stiffness in steering.it is very hard to control now when makinga turn.i am afraid to drive the the car.local dealer says he cannot replicate the problem.honda needs to alert and recall.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit. The contact stated while driving at 35 mph, the power steering warning light illuminated and the vehicle loss power steering functionality. The vehicle regained power steering assist and was coasted to the side of the roadway. While accelerating, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power train failed and needed to be replaced. The technician replaced the engine coil spring and disconnected the battery however, the failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer four times. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 20v770000 (power train) as a possible solution to the failure however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 215,000.

The carpeting is falling apart after just over 5,000 miles near the driver's feet.i don't know if this is considered a safety issue, but i googled "honda fit carpeting" and found a site where several people have found this problem.i believe a foot could get caught up in this carpeting shreds.

Clear coat and paint on the honda fit are defective. Peeling began after about 3 1/2 years of ownership. There are large patches of missing paint on the roof and a patch on the hood.

My issue is with the quickly degrading paint job on my vehicle. I have done nothing different from any other car i have owned, and i am parked in an apartment complex parking lot where all of my neighbors cars are not having any issues. The only car in the parking lot with paint degradation comparable to my car is a blue 1999 honda civic, but it looks much better than my '10 fit. Just to reiterate, we are parked in the same parking lot with the same amount of sun and elemental exposure. After looking to see if my vin was listed under current honda campaigns, i have found that it is not listed. However, a friend pointed out an ongoing campaign for 2006-2013 civics with extended paint warranties. The civics included are all in the dark blue or black color family, which is the same as my fit. I looked up photos of the paint degradation on these civics, and not only are the paint colors almost exactly the same, but the degradation is in the same areas as that of my fit. The roof and hood are the two biggest problem areas, and the campaign lists roof, trunk, hood, upper portion of the doors, and upper portions of the quarter panels. The degradation described on the civics is a chalky or cloudy appearance, exactly the same as my car's current appearance.now, just to sum things up: 1. My car is in the year range of the campaigned civics.2. My car is the same paint color family as the campaigned civics.3. My car has the same areas of degradation as the campaigned civics, including the hood, the roof, and the upper portions of the doors.4. My car has the exact same type of chalky, cloudy, oxidized degradation as the campaigned civics.5. I am not the only honda fit owner with this problem. It is well documented online.6. My car started degrading well inside the 7 year extended paint warranty period given to owners of the campaigned civics.

Paint is chalking and cracking off my hood and roof. Started noticing in march 2017. Asked honda service center about it and after sending me to a paint specialist to get it looked at/paint job estimate and being told it looked exactly like the paint issues honda civics are experiencing, honda service center manager told me it was 'normal wear and tear' and they would not help me.

Parked at a mall. Driver's door would not open.after many efforts i managed to get front passenger door open.key would not unlock door from outside.for 2 days while waiting for appointment at dealership had to leave unlocked and usefront passenger door.dealership "found door latch faulty."total cost over $800.00.has beenreplaced.

The paint is wearing off of the top of the car clearly this is defective

Air bag did not deploy during front end collision (car rear-ended another). Had been travelling ~40 mph; braked over a distance of approximately 3 to 4 car lengths while travelling down hill. Driver sustained concussion.

Ignition and key has problems with key sticking and lock and unlocking doors with key not inserting and not unlocking doors, poor design and honda knows it jut just ignores the problems

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit. While driving 15 mph, the rear driver's door failed to lock manually or electronically. There was also an abnormal clicking noise emerging from the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact called troy honda (1835 maplelawn dr, troy, mi 48084, (248) 649-0202) and was provided a repair quote. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 85,000.

Driver stopped car at a red light on a main street. When light turbed green, driver pressed the accellerator and there was a loud clunk and the car would not accellerate. Car was towed by police, then towed to a garage for repair. Mechanics determined the axel shaft had snapped as a result of prolibged exposure to moisture, and microfractures. The part was replaced.

Vehicle was pulling out of a driveway onto road when a loud popping snap was heard and vehicle would not move at all.

At approximately 15332 miles on june 13 2013 the tpms light came on, advising that a tire pressure monitor had failed.it was replaced, but was not covered by warranty by jim white honda in maumee ohio.. Less than 4 weeks later at approximately 16846 miles on july 13 2013 the tpms light came on again.it was replaced and was covered by warranty by holman honda of fort lauderdale florida.these tire pressure monitors are required by law. Having two different tires fail within weeks of each other at such low mileage on a car that is rarely and carefully driven is a clear indication of some sort of defect.calls to honda customer service were pointless and the first failure cost $215.93.i was never given the parts or told anything except that the parts "failed".as part of the tread act, because they are safety equipment i believe that defective tire pressure monitors should be covered by warranty regardless of the date of purchase, and i want to be reimbursed and a recall issued.

Hvac (heater/ac fan) does not work for speed #1-3, only works for high speed #4. Many owners of honda fit 2009 and later have this same issue. Why haven't there a recall?

Takata recallmy honda 2010 fit is metallic blue and the paint is fading.the entire roof is white.large white spots on the hood and now fading marks on the side of the car.it is only 5 years old and in excellent shape.a 5 year old car and it looks 15 years old.the honda dealership has not agreed at this time to pay for a full repaint job.they have agreed to pay 70% of the total billfor the roof and hood of the car.my concern is that they will repaint the roof and hood and not the back and sides and then they will fade.i also will need to rent a car while they are repairing the paint.this will bring my total close to $500.00.this is not my fault and i believe a paint job should last more than 5 years.when i look around a parking lot and see cars older than mine with a perfect paint job i get frustrated.this is not right.

Since purchase 2010 i have noted a suspicion of vehicle's electrical system. I have spoken numerous times of this suspicion and issues of concern to friends and family andwith dealership. Dealership told me they are unable to check the electronic system.. My suspicion began within a year of purchase ,with automatic door locks making unusual sound as if not enough juice to lock or open automatically to more concern of driving with a drag sense and feeling like going to stall at traffic lights approximately 2015? complaint form asks for exact mileage and year began. Date i entered is just over purchase date although the heat has been more of a serious suspicion 2015-2017 that i can recall; mileage of issues noted are guesstimate 0 miles through current 124,000 miles car periodically feels like will stall in traffic at stop light, and lack of power while driving at speeds 30-70 mph. It is common to feel like i am pulling a trailer filled with heavy rock as if a pull or drag on engine, sometimes like it is just going to stall while driving.i have had battery checkedfor more than 3 years when questioning why it driving this way and i am told ,the battery is ok. I have replaced battery 2x since 2010 for actual battery failure. The driver dashboard and driver foot area heat up to what has been noticeable and of suspicion to me,feeling like an unusual and dangerous level of heat to touch. Totouch heating cooling knob for example or in area of dashboard and electronic knobs have been very hot. I had just seen online and read about a 2010 honda fit engine and engine cooling nhtsa campaign #11v101000 recall dated march 7, 2011. I am told by honda and nhtsa that my 2010 honda fit is not included due to not being of same manufacturer of other honda fits of this recall. I am concerned that my engine issues that have been of my suspicion are related to this recall.

With headlights on and heater blower running the headlights dim significantly and the blower motor reduces its velocity, as if an electrical failure is about to occur. Dealer said nothing is wrong.

We purchased a new 2010 honda fit from david mcdavid honda in irving, texas.we have the car serviced at david mcdavid honda in irving also.we are concerned about the key locks on this car.the first failure occurred at 37746 miles. The key would go about half way into the driver's side lock and then would jam.i took the car to the dealer and they replaced the driver's side door lock cylinder.(see attachment one to this letter for the dealer invoice).at approximately 54000 miles the second failure occurred on the driver's side lock.the circumstances were similar to earlier failure.i called my david mcdavid advisor to see whether the lock cylinder was still in warranty. He told me that since 12 months and 12,000 miles had passed that i had no warranty on the part.i then went to car toys located in irving to see whether they could put a keyless entry system in the honda fit. After their positive assurance, i had their system put in the car.(see attachment two to this letter for car toys invoice dated september 10, 2018).on june 27, 2019, my wife went to store and when she returned to the car, the key would only go half way into the ignition and then jam.i went to where the car was located and tried to get the key to work. I had no luck and after discussing with advisor at david mcdavid honda in irving, i hired a wrecker to take the car to the dealership.mileage on the car was 59439. 2010 honda fit.consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair recall.

On local street medium traffic was driving really slow to anticipate the red light, light went green so i stepped on the gas pedal lightly but the honda fit seemed to have greater speed than i expected and the van in front of me did not seem to be moving at all but his third brake light was out and he said he was not braking at that time and i knew i would crash so i checked right side and maneuvered to change lane to the right to reduce point of contact and clipped the left rear of the van.it felt like it was sudden acceleration - i am not feeling safe with the car as freeway traffic in la is stop and go and i normally drive the canyon daily. I also had the vehicle change oil, brake pads and tires serviced the day before.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit. The contact stated that the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal are too close and sometime he touched the wrong pedal. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer nor was it repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted either. The failure mileage was approximately 18.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit. The contact stated that while in reverse, the vehicle suddenly surged backwards before crashing. The airbags did not deploy during the failure. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. Neither the delaer nor the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 2,913.

I have a 2010 honda fit sport automatic, purchased new. While driving about 5 mph (i.e., going down a spiral ramp, parking my car inside the garage in my home and being in extremely slow stop-and-go traffic) my right foot is on and off the brake.i do not use my left foot at all in driving. Four times in the past year (from july 2010 to june 2011) during such situations the engine suddenly accelerated and the needle on the rpm dial went to 4,000-5,000. I had to step hard with my right foot on the brake to keep the car from lurching forward.the last time it happened on june 5, 2011 in the middle of extremely slow stop-and-go traffic. I had to put both feet on the brake and quickly shifted into neutral to avoid hitting the car in front of me. This time my wife was in the car with me and witnessed this most scary and dangerous incident.i explained all of this to the mechanics at my local honda dealer when i brought my car in for service on 6/21/11.however, they were not able to recreate a sudden acceleration situation and could not find anything wrong with my car. My online searches indicate that there have been reports of similar situations with prior-year models of the honda sport. I am certain there is an undiscovered problem with my car, and possibly others, which requires investigation by the nhtsa.

I pulled slowly into a commercial parking space, the car accelerated after i lifted my foot off the gas pedal.the car jumped the curb and hit a concrete column.i slammed the brakes and it stopped in the middle of a sidewalk just in front of a storefront.unintended acceleration occurred on two other occasions with no damage..

Long stress fracture in the windshield, starting from edge on passenger's side and extending for about 2 feet towards the center.fracture appeared for no apparent reason, and there was no chip, hence was not caused by a stone.the windshield did not shatter, though in researching online, found that many other honda fit owners have experienced the same problem, with the fracture appearing with no obvious cause, and in some cases on cars that had only recently been purchased.the dealer replaced for free under warranty, though others online reported that dealers tried to argue that it was caused by a stone.this is my daughter's car, and i'm concerned it may happen again, and that there is a risk that the screen could shatter or separate at the crack while she is driving, hence causing a major driving hazard and possible crash.

The contact owns a 2010 honda fit. The contact stated that while closing the rear passenger door, the front driver side window shattered. The contact stated sustained cuts to her fingers and back. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available.the failure and current mileage was 6,000.

Honda fit windshields develop cracks with minor or even no impact!there is a growing number of reports regarding this potential safety issue and honda needs to resolve this. This is our second cracked windshield we found when getting into the car in the morning.

While driving to work, there was a loud pop and a crescent-shaped crack appeared on the windshield.the crack starts at the bottom of the windshield near the driver's heat vent, runs up approx 6 inches and goes over about 18 inches to the other heat vent on the passenger side. Temperature was around 20 degrees, heater was on.a quick search of web logs indicates numerous similar complaints (see edmonds.com).

I was sitting in the parked car listening to the radio before work when i saw a foot long crack form half way up the right edge of the windshield horizontally toward the center of the windshield.there was practically no people or cars around and it was a clean straight line crack.i found an online forum on edmunds.com where there were many people having stress crack issues with their fit windshields.i went to the dealer and they found a chip in the crack about the size of a pinhead, 2 inches in from the edge of the windshield.they claimed a stone hit the windshield to cause the chip and suggested contraction expansion of the glass caused the crack.they refused to cover the damages under warranty.a phone call to honda automobile customer service claimed no reports of issues with fit windshields and also refused warranty coverage even after mentioning the online forum.

The back window on 2010 fit sport hatchback did not have any previous damage. The car was parked in my driveway overnight. When i got in and shut the driver side door, the back window shattered before i had even started the ignition.. The car had no previous damage or cracks/chips of any kind. The enitre back window had to be replaced.

The a/c switch on the dash is defective. I turn it on, the a/c clutch engages but, then i can't turn it off... Causing the a/c to run constantly, even in the winter.
