Takata recallithaca carshare is a small non-profit organization serving 1,400 community members with 25 vehicles available for self-serve reservations on a 24/7 basis. Six of these vehicles are honda fits affected by the takata recall. For the safety of our members and liability purposes, we removed these vehicles from service on april 4, 2016. We have spoken with both our local honda dealer and honda corporate multiple times, and thus far both have refused to provide any compensation for the loss of revenue caused by these vehicles being unsafe to drive. Each vehicle requires installation of specialty hardware for our use, so substitute vehicles provided by honda (which have not been offered) are not an option for us. As each day goes by, we lose $250-300 in revenue, so as of this writing we have lost over $3,000.as a small non-profit, this recall has a huge effect on our budget. We expect that our losses will total at least $10,000, if not more. Failure of honda to provide compensation for this loss is both inconvenient and unacceptable. We continue to seek compensation for this loss and request any assistance you may offer on our behalf.

Driver's side airbag recall:i received a driver's side airbag recall in march 2016.i've contacted my local honda dealer, scott robinson in torrance, ca at least 8 times beginning in march 2016 and most recently in august 2016.the first few months scott robinson said parts weren't available and they couldn't provide alternative transportation.finally in august they said they could order the parts and it would take 4-6 weeks for the part to come in, but they reiterated that they can't provide alternative transportation.on august 22, 2016 i called american honda and requested alternative transportation.throughout the week of august 22 - 25 (mon - thurs) i called american honda a total of 4 times as they asked me to call my local dealers (which i two different ones) to try to get alternative transportation and to call them back to escalate my case because of my upcoming trips with my pregnant wife in my car.american honda said they would open a case and get back to me to provide alternative transportation by 8/29/2016.american honda also told me a manager would call me back on 8/25/16 or 8/26/16 at the latest but i never received any calls as of 9/5/2016 (and no missed calls).american honda continues to give me the run-around for a case i initiated in march 2016.they have had awareness that i am driving with a life-threatening defect and are not taking any action, which is criminal.

Airbag recall affecting my car and dealer still has no parts.my car has been outside in florida heat for 7 years and that makes it more susceptible to problem with airbag.

While driving my interior began to leak from the seam where the headliner meets the hard plastic on the side curtain airbag. This occurs whenever it rains for lo her than an hour. Water runs into the side airbag compartment, drips onto the seat and door window controls. Attempt by dealer to replicate was unsuccessful however this leak occurs each time it rains.

Our 2009 honda fit sport manual's airbag light came on about a month ago.i took it to the dealer today to have the recall serviced. They mentioned that the airbags were not functioning and we should have that looked at, for a minimum charge of $105 (just to determine the problem!).shouldn't this be a manufacturer defect and safety issue? the light came on without any cause we are aware of - no crash, etc.it just came on.

Takata recall.got notification - rec'd 3/29/16. On my 2009 honda fit.constant contact with honda dealership and honda corp. "parts not available yet".today - i find i can get a "loaner" according to honda corp. Call dealership - have to come sign paperwork and go to enterprise for loaner.enterprise tells me that i need a $200.00 deposit - refundable when i bring car back - and proof of income. Also have to find out from honda what they will pay for weekly rental - i only asked for economy car. They give me $$ amount - now i have to find out from honda dealership if they will pay $35.00 per day.honda corp says paying this amount is up to dealership. I've never had an accident / even a ticket and 66 yrs. Young.why do i have to put up with all these phone calls - 1/2 the time the dealership won't even return my phone calls! paying my "loaner fee" seems a whole lot cheaper - than god forbid i had been in an accident.

Takata recall - i was contacted nearly a year ago (feb 2016), informing me that my airbag inflators were being recalled and that more information would be provided at a later date. I was contacted in may 2016 letting me know that the replacement parts would be available in late summer/early fall 2016, and that honda would contact me again when they were available. I have not heard anything more from honda, and that is unacceptable. My car has been unsafe to drive for the past year, and yet i still need to drive it to get to work. It's time for honda to take steps to replace this part and make my car safe again so i can stop living in fear of getting into an accident and having my airbag inflate and kill me!

A car ran a red light and hit the front of the honda fit.the airbag on the driver's side deployed.the chemical from the airbag caused burns that blistered and peeled and the airbag deployment sprained both thumbs. There should be a warning that the contents of the airbags can cause significant burns when deployed.i have scars on my left wrist and right hand from these chemicals.the first responders and paramedics were unaware that these chemicals cause burns so they did not do anything to remove the chemicals or tell me that they would continue to burn as long as they were in contact with my skin.

Takata recall--hendrick honda of charleston, sc has had my airbags on order for over 2 months and cannot give me any idea as to when they will be repairing my car.additionally, they have told me that, while they can give me a loaner/rental until my driver side airbag is repaired, they will not allow me to use the loaner/rental until my passenger side airbag gets replaced.so basically, they care if i die, but not my husband, child, or friend who happens to be riding in the passenger seat!this is totally unacceptable.if they are not able to repair these cars, they should have to buy them back from us like volkswagen is doing for their customers.

We placed an order to fix the "passenger" airbag, after receiving a letter from honda. This has been 2 months ago.we asked for a rental, as we were given one for our "driver" airbag.they refused, saying the passenger must sit in the back seat.i have arthritis, and bad back, and to get into the back seat is hard.we have contacted honda and the honda dealer's service dept. And no luck there.the part isn't in yet. They say they will look into it.our case # 04972087.my thinking is they don't want to pay for a rental, as if no one is sitting in the passenger side, and there is an accident, it won't deploy.i don't think i should have to be inconvenienced by their faulty airbags. If i sell this car, i wont' get as much out of it because of the unrepaired airbag.so, if you would, could you please help us?sincerely

Takata recallwhen i receive the recall notice four months ago i went to herb chambers honda in burlington, ma. They refused to provide me with a substitute vehicle because i have a teenage driver. They told me to call american honda about it - i did, i opened a case, and have never heard anything. I have been calling herb chambers every few weeks but all they would tell me is that they don't have the parts to fix the car.i tried calling honda gallery in reading. They told me they have to order the parts specifically for the vehicle (herb chambers never told me this) and that it will take another six weeks if they mark it 'urgent'. Nicole in service said she can't tell me that my car is safe to drive. She did not know if they will give me a rental or not, same reason, i have an 18 year old driver.i feel that honda was perfectly happy to sell me a defective car but is doing nothing to either fix it or provide safe transportation.

Takata recalltakata recalli received a recall notice in july, 2016 and contacted the honda dealer to schedule a recall fix. I have not heard from them as of today.

I was in a car accident in june of this year involving multiple cars on a highway at 65 mph where i was hit several times, and none of the airbags deployed. My car was totaled

Takata recall. Received notice yesterday (25july 16) of passenger side recall. I notified local honda (hendricks honda of charleston) of the fact that i had a planned trip to mi from sc this friday and would need the air bag replaced by thursday that me of day. I was told that this schedule could likely not be met and that they could not provide a loaner. I called the honda automobile customer service # and was told the same thing; to hey agreed to escalate my concern but could not give me an expected time of a reply. I do not have the option of another vehicle and feel that my choices are between an unsafe condition and a rental at personal expense; i believe this to be unfair.

Takata recall. My car is one of the cars for the takata airbag on the driver and passenger side. I was told that honda only covers the rental cars for the driver side airbags and will not be covering if the driver side was fixed and the passenger has not been fixed. So i can still drive my car but honda recommends not to have someone in the front passenger seat. This prevents me from driving/carpooling more than 3 passengers as well as the metal shards from the passenger airbag can still potentially hit the driver if the airbag deployed. Is honda and other companies allowed to only cover the rental car for the driver side and not the passenger passing on the liability to the car owner if the passenger was to get hurt due to the recall?

"takata recall"i made an appointment on july 2, 2016 at mylocal honda dealership, vandergriff honda, arlington tx and was told they had the airbags in stock.i took my car in on my appointment july 5, 2016 and received a call that day that the airbags were not in stock.i was told they would have to order them and it would take 6 weeks.i called back august 17, 2016 and was told they were still not in, they were coming in sporadically.i called again today, september 6, 2016 and still no answer as to when i can get my airbags replaced.it is well over the 60 days reasonable period of time that i have had to wait.i am tired of feeling stressed every time i drive my car with these defective airbags.

It has been waiting for the airbag parts more than 80 days, and the dealer said the parts are currently still not available and cannot tell me the status or any more information when it will be available. Takata recall - i received two notices of the recall since march. When i spoke with a representative from american honda motor co in early july 2016, they said pacific honda in honolulu (current residence) should have parts available. I called pacific honda only to be put on a waiting list. It is now, august 25th, and still no word or call back to say if my 2009 honda fit will be ready for service. We are moving to los angeles on monday, aug 29th and i would like to have it serviced at the nearest dealership asap. I am outraged as to how poorly this dangerous recall situation has been handled. Pacific honda is considered in the hah zones and all customers should have received better notification as to when the parts were ready for service. I expected honda to call me before our move regardless of how many people are on the "waiting list." i have a diabetic toddler who rides in the back seat. This cannot prolong any further than it already has.

Takata recall:i have received several letters stating that my car has a safety defect related to the takata airbags.the last letter was in july 2016.in it, it states that if honda or the dealer (richard's honda in baton rouge, louisiana) has failed to remedy the defect within 60 days.i actually called over a year ago and they kept telling me that they would send a letter when the part was ready.well, its been over a year and i've received nothing stating that the part is ready.

I was told by the prescott, az, dealer that a "fix" for the defective air bags would be available at the beginning of summer. Last week i learned via a phone call to the dealership, that they have not received any repair mechanisms from the company.

2009 honda fit sport vin# [xxx]. We live in maine. It was happen after my wife drop my daughter at school. She drive back home she exit regular street turn left to rout 1 then the car stop moving at the middle of the road. The other car that drive on rout 1 need to stop immediately. Luckily my wife car didn't get hit and my daughter didn't stay in the car. 2 guys helping my wife car to the side and then she call police and tow the car home. Car still started normally but when i change shift to d it not move forward and put r not move backwards either even p i push the car it still move it not park and car make noise sound on p. I think it is a power train problem.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My car alarm keeps going off when i don't lock my door and the doors constantly lock even though my car is off or i'm parked or if i'm driving on the road.

While driving at approx. 35 mph, radio lights flashed off. Slowing down to make a right turn, radio lights shut off, eps indicator came on for approx. 2 secs, steering wheel became hard to turn, power to steering and radio resumed after 3-5 secs. Same scenario occurs intermittently while driving on local roads at 50mph or below. Occurred at mileage 170,000.

Car turning off.

When the car sits for too long in cooler weather, it stalls when it is in gear.i started the car this morning, put it in reverse, and it stalled.in the past i have gotten beyond the garage and had it stall at a stop sign or light.the problem ceases when the engine warms up.the problem seems similar to the one addressed by the following recall: recall id # 80366 - engine and engine coolingread more: http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2009/honda/fit/recalls/#ixzz2pdfz2z9uhonda maintains that my vehicle is not covered by this recall.

When attempting to drive the vehicle, it would not move in reverse. Gear would shift to reverse but car would not move. Honda dealership stated that rodents chewed through wiring on cable harness.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. While driving approximately 35 mph, the power steering seized and the instrument panel failed. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

The car dashboard lights/radio lost all power for 2-3 seconds and then the eps light on the dashboard lit up. The car lost power steering and was extremely hard to steer during this time. Steering wheel locked while driving and could not turn it for the 2-3 seconds that the car systems were 'offline.' the next day, the car did the same thing and i lost power steering while driving at various speeds in various weathers throughout the day on both the highway and back roads. Utterly terrifying. Towed it to the honda dealership. They were unable to replicate the issues and car was returned to me with 0 fixes done. Was advised to pick up the vehicle and drive it as normal since no complaints could be proven with diagnostic testing. Drove it with trepidation for the next 5 days and on the 5th day, the car again lost all power to vehicle, dashboard lights lit up, engine light lit up, radio turned off and turned back on, steering became very difficult and wheel locked while driving. Car continued to do this over the period of an hr 50+ times. Parked car, video recorded it losing power, eps light turning on/radio turning on/off, steering wheel locking while parking and driving. Towed it a 2nd time to the honda dealership who has driven it a total of 38 miles with nothing being able to be proven with diagnostic testing. No hard codes to be found, as anytime the car is turned off all codes are erased from the eps system. Called honda corp. And they stated since there is no recall on my vin number that no problem exists for this vehicle and since the dealership cannot prove any issues through diagnostic testing that my claim is unfounded. Honda service bulletin 14-058 was released and the warranty extended for 2007-08 honda fits, but they are denying issues with 2009 even though there are reports all over the internet about them. Dealership unwilling to fix 'unknown issue'.

I own a 2009 honda fit, vin # [xxx], with 33,400 miles on the vehicle. Several messages been displayed repeatedly on the message board the last 2 months.the messages displayed are "check engine", "check fuel cap" and one regarding the air bags.i took the car to the dealer, germain honda of dublin, to have it checked.they said i have to bring it in when the message light is on before they can tell me what is wrong. That is not possible because the messages don't stay on very long. Can you help me with this problem?appreciate any assistance you can give me.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My radio at random times would turn on and off while driving the vehicle as if it lost power, then about a week or two later my power steering would randomly cut out for a few seconds with the radio shut off and the eps light in the dash would flash then go away, during this the car became hard to handle and control. This would happen unpredictability when driving on the freeway and on surface streets and variable speeds. I checked it with a code reader and nothing came up as a hard code. Brought it to the dealer, they said they could not replicate the issue but we're able to determine that it was the electonic power steering system. I noticed honda had a recall on this system for 2007-2008 honda fits and many complaints about this for 2009 fits that were not included in that recall. I feel that this is a defective part, and that this should not be happening especially since honda is aware of the issue but refuses to acknowledge that it is a problem for 2009 fits. And according to the dealer they can't guarantee that replacing the eps will solve the problem so i'm potentially out $1500 for something that is a safety flaw in this vehicle.

Towing a 2009 honda fit behind a motorhome when it locked up.everything was set according to the manual. It isautomatic.we were told it could be the battery but we are not satisfied with that explanation.have you heard of other honda fits locking up the front wheels while towing.it drives fine if not behind the motorhome.we dragged the toad for about 50 feet and had to replace two front tires.

December 2017 i had my 2009 honda fit inspected for vehicle registration and passed. January 29, 2018 i took my car to david mcdavid honda irving, tx for inspection as the car was slowing down and was making weird movements as i shifted gears. The technician report said: there was a 6 inch rodent damage to the engine wiring harness and it had to be replaced. The total charge i was asked to pay on february 3, 2018 was $1510.01honda knows that they have this problem as they sell on amazon tapes against rodens (https://www.amazon.com/honda-4019-2317-rodent-tape/dp/b00ajtg3n0/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=utf8&dpid=31iiudiohkl&dppl=1&keywords=rodent%20tape&pi=ac_sx236_sy340_fmwebp_ql65&qid=1517350918&ref=plsrch&ref_=mp_s_a_1_1&sr=8-1), yet they didn't offer to cover the replacement cost or to pay even part of it. The total cost of replacement was shifted on me as consumer.i kept the original - damaged - harness. See attached photo.

The starter in all of these vehicles goes bad very fast. Stating with an odd sound of metal to metal on cold starts (due to the starter not retracting fast enough) 5 people that live near me have all had the same problem my car is now doing it again with a 3 year old replacement denso oem honda starter, honda needs to fix this...

My wife was driving the car when this happened.it has occurred twice.this vehicle has an electronic throttle system.the check engine light came on the car loses the ability to accelerate.i have not had it happen to me yet.i took the car to autozone and they read the stored codes from the obd system which indicated the throttle positioning sensor had generated a fault.the fault seems to go away and the check engine is no longer illuminated.it seems to go away by shutting off and restarting the car. This seems to be a considerable safety problem since you could get rear ended when this happens.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. While driving approximately 40 mph, the steering lost power and the vehicle shut off. The contact replaced the battery and the vehicle restarted. The failure recurred while the contact attempted to make a turn. The contact stated that the steering lost power, the vehicle shut down, and the power steering indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact called an independent mechanic who recommended that the vehicle be taken to the dealer. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.

Every winter the battery goes completely dead. No signs of any life in the vehicle. Thebattery was replace by the dealer after i had the car 6 months. I have put at least six new batteries in the car. Searching online i find this is a common problem.

2009 honda fit sport instrument panel went blank - no gas gauge, no speedometer, no tripometer, no car alarm, air conditioning went out, doors would not auto lock.honda service diagnosed it as faulty instrument cluster panel.said i needed to replace instrument cluster to the tune of $700+ for part and $300+ for labor and $30+ for shipping of part.car 2 1/2 years old, one owner, only 47,000 miles.needs to be recalled.

Car stalls and dies after initial start. Sometimes even with warming car up for 5-10 minutes. Outdoor temperature can be 90 degrees and this still happens. If i start my car, let it run for 5 minutes, put it in drive, the minute i begin to slow for a stop sign or simply for an approaching stop or intersection my car will shudder and die. There is no check engine light and two mechanics have found no codes soft or hard to shed any light on why this is happening. I have already paid $300 for a valve adjustment, replaced spark plugs and i'm still having the issue.

After having my car for almost five years without this issue, i have started having trouble getting my key into the driver's door lock.the key stops about a third of the way into the keyhole.the key works like normal in the passenger door, hatch, and ignition.i attempted using a spare key that has seldom been used, but it does not slide into the driver's door keyhole either.something has messed up or worn out in the driver's door lock.

I purchased a honda fit in july of 2009.i have driven it 5800 miles.the following is a description of a major problem that has recently occurred: 1.in august of 2010 my abs light came on.2.i took the car to my honda dealerand was told that rodents had eaten the wiring.i was told that it was not covered by the warranty and that the cost to fix it could be as high as $1000.needless to say i was shocked.3.when i brought the car home i discovered that the covering on the oxygen sensor wiring and the covering on the wiring to the fan had also been chewed although the wiring was still intact.4.here is what is so shocking about this situation.my 2009 honda fit is parked 30 feet from my 2005honda element.the 5 year old element has no sign of rodent activity and has no wiring problems.i called the america honda motor co. Customer service 800 number and reported the above. The report has been given a case #.i also did a google search[automobile wiring and rodents/honda wiring and rodents].the search turned up many references to this problem in honda automobiles and other manufacturer's automobiles.the search also uncovered many references to the recent use of soy in automobile wiring covering.if this is true it could explain why my 2005 element has not been attacked while my 2009 fit has been.it would also indicate a glaring defect in some auto electrical wiring.i am now dealing with the problemby leaving my fit in with my dogs and letting them urinate on the tires.as of now this seems to be working.obviously this is a lousy solution to the problem.in summation, i now have no abs.i do not feel i should have to pay $1000 for rodent damage towiring that was likely caused by rodent attractive wire covering and may reoccur.this is an expensive problem.it is also a safety problem. That is why i am registering this problem with the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa).updated ivoq 10/15/10

They installed a thread insert and replaced the ignition coil and spark plug and it cost $812.55.the mechanic said that the spark plug popped out because it was not installed correctly.when i asked for reimbursement for the repair at the honda service center that had done the 100,000 major service on the honda three years ago,i was told the warranty had expired and they would not reimburse me.i have since researched the problem online and discovered that problems with spark plugs popping out or blowing out in honda fits are not uncommon and that occurrence is extremely dangerous.if i had been warned of this potential problem i could have had it checked out and avoided the expense as well as the dangerous break-down when entering a freeway.i am including the repair receipt.

Engine stalls while driving.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while attempting to brake to a stop. The contact also stated that the engine was cold when the failure occurred.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. While driving 80 mph, fuel fumes emitted in and around the vehicle and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the spark plugs were loose and fuel was leaking onto the engine. As a result, the spark plugs and the coil needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 56,000.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled on several occasions after being serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 11v101000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,221.

While driving from oklahoma to california (specifically kingman, az to barstow, ca), my engine spontaneously caught on fire. It was put out immediately by a good samaritan. After the fire, there was oil leakage all over the highway and where it was towed; there was also gas leakage. It was towed to the dealership on 6/7/18. They say that there was no motor oil prior to the fire starting so are blaming me for the fire. I had an oil change about a month ago and saw no signs of oil leakage at my parking space or any time during this trip. There were no warnings prior to this fire and no indication that anything was wrong. I was very frightened and am still impacted by this fire. I am being told that the repair will be $14,000.00 which is way more than the car is worth. I am 68 years old and am on a fixed income. I have always taken good care of my cars and took good care of this one. It was purchased in january 2017 and has been a good car. It has been driven less than 50 miles a week since it was purchased. It is customary to "blame" the consumer for what happens. I do not believe i did anything to cause this fire. It is impossible to get the service department at the car dealership to listen to anything, especially that the oil leakage occurred after the fire, not before it. There was tons of oil leakage all over the highway, at a car repair shop & all over a uhaul car transport trailer. I truly believe there is another cause for this fire.

I bought a brand new 2009 honda fit in february 2009. The following year by july 2010 the ac unit did not work at all. I took it to the dealer where i had bought my car, who told me that a rock from the road had hit the ac unit, the refrigerant had escaped and i had to pay usd$ 890.00 to repair it, because that repair was not covered by the manufacturer warranty.then i realized the front bumper under the tag had big spaces that may allow a rock to go through and hit the ac condenser. This is a manufacturing defect and honda should cover the cost of the repair.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact stated that she received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 11v101000 (engine and engine cooling) and contacted the dealer april 21, 2011 to secure an appointment for repairs. The dealer advised that the earliest they could secure her appointment was for july 6, 2011.she then called the manufacturer but they referred her back to the dealer. Later, while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the failure recurred three additional times and the contact had to call a tow truck company to jumpstart the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for the failure. The contact was unsatisfied with how far out the recall repairs were scheduled for and believed it to surpass a reasonable amount of time. The failure mileage was 11,000 and the current mileage was 12,000.

Honda is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 honda fit vehicles. There is a potential for one or more of the four spring assemblies on the engine's variable valve timing and lift electronic control (vtec) system to fail.dealer performed recall and as a result of replacing the valve springs the valves were very noisy.had to bring vehicle back and leave it for valve adjustment when engine was cool.make sure adjustment is done at time of recall.

I bought a brand new 2009 honda fit, heard noise from motor, right after i received a letter stating this car had a recall (springs) in the motor, took the car to dealer, they replaced the springs, car still had noise, took it back & following day said they had to re-adjust the valves, picked up the car the next day & still noise, dealer refused to take cr back, car make noise from the valves in the motor, these defective springs caused damaged to my brand new vehicle.. I don't feel safe driving this car, i fear for other's safety & my family's safety... I am requesting from honda that they refund the money i paid for this defective car & take the car, the car doesn't respond well when i accelerate it... I don't know what to do..please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact stated the vehicle would sporadically stall without warning when traveling at any speed. The contact stated the failure has occurred over 20 times however, the dealer was unable to duplicate or locate a failure in the vehicle. The dealer advised without being able to diagnose the vehicle they were unable to make any repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated in order to get the vehicle to function normally he would have to shut off the engine during the failure and shift into park. When restarting, the vehicle would resume normal operation. The failure mileage was approximately 200 and the current mileage was approximately 2,000.

Leaving client's driveway, put car in reverse and backed out of driveway stopping at the opposite side, across the street. Turned steering in the direction i was heading and placed car in drive. Lifted my foot off brake and car took offwithout my foot touching the accelerator. It was like i had depressed the accelerator to the floor and my foot never touched the accelerator. I hit a parked car. I was terrified.

Blinker on the right side became inoperative and inside indicator blinked quickly. Upon investigation discovered the blinker bulb was good but the headlight was very dim and almost out. High beam would only come on slightly. The other side of the car was fine. Checked online and, as suspected, there was some repair notices about the corrosion on the ground connector due to poor plating which caused the problem. It appears that honda may have bad ground terminals or other connection problem on their safety lighting system. Called honda dealer and then honda american. They indicated this was not a warranty problem so would not cover it. I believe this kind of problem will result in many cars having partial headlights and is a safety related failure in a critical system and should be covered under a recall. The headlights and turn signal could be on and off without notice. This is a low mileage car and not even in a rust belt part of the country.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit.the contact stated that the vehicle was parked and when the contact engaged the low beam headlight, they would not illuminate. The contact played around wit the headlight switch for several moments before they finally illuminated. In addition, when the left turn signal or the high beams were utilized, the low beam headlights would fail. The failure would occur intermittently. The vehicle was neither repaired nor diagnosed for the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000 and the current mileage was 38,500.

Vehicle caught fire while driving

Fuel mixing in with the engine oil . After changing the oil or checking the dip stick the engine oil smells heavily like fuel. Fuel is somehow mixing with the engines oil . Vehicle was parked when i noticed the fuel smell inside the cabin and then proceeded to check the oil.

On the evening of march 23, 2012, at approximately 6:30 pm, i was driving my fit on the pa. Turnpike.i suddenly heard a thud from under the engine, which sounded as though a stone had ricocheted off the road surface onto the underside of the chassis.i immediately noticed voluminous grey smoke issuing from the tailpipe.as i was less than one quarter mile from an exit, i took it and quickly pulled over, shut off the ignition, and jumped out.i noticed a large, growing puddle of oil directly beneath the engine. Prior to my shutting off the ignition, i at no time saw the low oil pressure indicator light up on the instrument panel.as it turns out, the oil plug had inexplicably blown out. Since i purchased my honda fit, it has been maintained impeccably, as recommended by the maintenance minder and the manufacturer.

Front drivers side axle broke in half- not at the socket. Mechanic said he's never seen anything like it. It did not break on a bump. I was turning left on a busy street and it just broke. After calling honda dealers in the area, everyone seems to be out of abs axles. I wonder why.

On jan. 28, 2018 the drive shaft on my honda fit snapped while up shifting onto the main road. Car was towed and repaired the following day by a local shop. At the time there was no know recall for this part. My information and claim was submitted to honda on 2/08/2021 with invoice and paid receipt. Honda verified that the part was repaired on my car and paid for. Honda has failed to either pay for the repair or send a letter of denial. Honda has also failed to return phone calls or return email. It should be noted that hondaclaim agent harassed me by asking for unreasonable documentation such to prove the car was not in an accident or had to be pushed into the service bay at the repair shop. Claim number available upon request.

Broken passenger transaxle.our car suffered a break while accelerating from a city street stoplight, so the damage to the car was minimal and we posed no danger to other vehicles.(the vehicle was immediately disabled and had to be pushed to the side of the road)we were fortunate - if this happened at highways speeds, the results could have been far worse .this is a potentially dangerous situation where the transaxle can break, causing loss of steering, mobility and other under hood vehicle damage. My vehicle has all service and inspection work done at a local honda dealer (honda of joliet) and the failing part was never discovered. Because the defect/damage is hidden under the trans axle boot, this prevented any visual inspection from revealing it. However, the danger exists and a routine internet check reveals this is indeed a global issue that affects many of these cars.note - i have attached photos of the broken axle apart and pushed together, to show how the damage is hidden under the boot.picture detail:1.broken passenger side transaxle2.close up of break #13.close up of break #24.broken axle together clearly showing broken area hidden under rubberboot - which would not be seen under routine visual inspection.5.both used axles side by side for comparison (note ' unbroken axles has not been inspected under boot for possible damage also).

Front driver side cv axle broke in two. Vehicle was stationary--i was on city street, waiting for left turn signal to enter highway.vehicle would not move when i stepped on the gas and engine making clunking noises--i thought transmission had failed.

Driver side axle broke while crossing a busy highway. No power transferred when stepping on the gas pedal to get to the side street leaving me to coast slowly across the road as if the car were in neutral. Part retrieved from roadway. Stress break where the axle enters the rubber boot.

Broken left axel while driving after making a slow left turn off a street

When the car is stopped at say a light stop sign or just pulling out of a parking spot. If i barely accelerate just enough to get like 1500 rpm's and shift into second gear and same into 3rd it seems like the car doesn't have enough power to hold that gear on the change, resulting in a almost grinding noise? kind of like static almost only for a few seconds. Its been happening sense i bought the vehicle used at around 86k miles at about the same rate every time no real change. Though i have noted it occurs like 3 seconds long instead of the brief 1 second immediately following an oil change but just once then back to the usually.i have read a lot of people complaining about this on forums throughout the internet, and somewhat surprised it is not on here. An example of the noise is on this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhxcwxtqcaki really don't something bad to come of the car from this noise for i love this car it is really fun to drive and likes to get up and go when it needs to especially for a 1.5l regularly aspirated engine.

Driving along a city street.tire slipped on a patch of ice when accelerating after a stop. I heard something break/drop and the car immediately lost lost power to the wheels.towed it to the shop.left passenger axle snapped in half.

The axle on the passenger front side of the vehicle broke. This resulted in my car getting disabled in the middle of an intersection. The car was towed to the service. The service explained to me that there is a rubber damper on the axle. Salt and grime accumulating under the rubber damper led to excessive corrosion and breaking. The rubber damper should have been designed so that it does not allow accumulation of salt and grime. The breaking of a vehicle axle while driving is a serious situation, and could have resulted in an accident.

Last winter i went germain honda of dublinand they said they couldn't find any thing. They said when the check engine lightcomes on t 8 b try ing it in and they said they will scan the light.when my checkengine light come on by the time i get to the dealers its not on. I had the battery replace back in january 2014. My car will be 5 years in august.will this partthrottle actuator control motor be cover under warranty? here is the code i got from advance auto p2101 which isthrottle actuator control motor.

This is related to the honda fit 2000 manual transmission driver shaft recall (service bulletin 21-009). Part of the background of this recall reads: ā€œdue to improper manufacturing, the paint on the driveshaft near the dynamic damper may peel and chip over time, exposing the bare metal and potentially causing it to corrode under the dynamic damper. A corroded driveshaft may break during high torque conditions, rendering the vehicle without propulsion, or allowing the vehicle to roll while in park, which can increase the potential of a crash or injury.ā€¯ i was surprised to see that only the driver shaft where the dynamic damper is located would be replaced. After i brought in my car (a manual transmission) in for the recall i noticed that the other driver shaft (does not have a damper) is corroded as well. If the drive shaft can break due to corrosion on one side why would it not break on the other side? i would assume itā€™s made of the same material with only differences that one has a damper and the other does not. Is the damper what would cause the breakage of the driver shaft or the corrosion? the manufacturer failed to apply proper coding on both sides of the driver shaft not just on the side of the damper. I want to bring this to your attention and want to understand the reasoning behind the decision. I am concerned that this still poses a danger for breakage of the drive shaft that wasnā€™t replaced and where proper coding was not used.attached are pictures of the driver shaft that was not replaced as well as the bulletin.thank you

While turning right from a stop in busy urban intersection i heard loud pop and the car stopped moving. After tow to local honda dealer and inspection the service writer told me that my right side(passenger)drive axle was broken. No determination of cause was offered only estimate to repair.due to unusual circumstances and part that was involved(basically steel rod that should not break open)i researched honda web site for recalls and found one for 2014 honda drive axles that were breaking under identical circumstances recall#14v258000. My inspection revealed crystallization ofaxle material(probably due to improper processing during manufacture). Above mentioned recallwas done because of processing problem. Please advise as to further steps to take regarding this issue. The axle is available for inspection. Towing and repair bill is available(electronic file will not load). Thank you. Drive shaft broke after putting car into drive (was parked on slight incline). Pushed car into safe location.took driver side tire off; saw broken drive shaft.did not have enough space to safely inspect passenger side.

The front passenger side axle shaft (cv axle) on my manual 2009 honda fit snapped off while in first gear and driving at regular speed for this gear in a parking lot (under 20mph). . it broke at the edge of the rubber damper on the shaft. The drivers side axle is rusted as well but has no damper and does not appear to have stress lines/faults at this time. This was the original part on the car from date of purchase. Car has 135000 miles on it.

Driving into a busy intersection and the right drive axle broke.lucky me and my child were not injured.we had been on the highway right before this and thankful it didn't cause a serious crash.i started to accelerate from a stop sign to take a left onto a busy road.my car revved and then we heard a loud bang and felt like something dropped.then the car would run but would not work (no fwd, reverse, etc)

The vehicle was traveling straight and level at a speed of around 35 mph when the driver lost the ability to accelerate. The road has 4 lanes (2 in each direction) with no shoulder and no division between oncoming traffic. We feel very fortunate that police came quickly to push the car out of traffic. We learned later that the driveshaft failed suddenly while driving and is now under a safety recall order. We have requested reimbursement from the manufacturer for the driveshaft repair.

Driving into an intersection, my car suddenly stopped being able to propel forward. There was a clunk noise. I was eventually pushed to a parking lot by police. I got towed to the dealership where they found a broken drive shaft and a recall issued by honda a few weeks before.

The right axle rusted through and broke while i was stationary, waiting to make a left turn. The keft axle was also found to be very rusted.

The car was stopped in a driveway waiting to pull into a busy road.when there was a break in the traffic, the accelerator was depressed, the car moved forward a little bit, and then there was a loss of acceleration and a ratcheting sound from the engine compartment.fortunately, the car did not make it onto the street before the failure occurred.after turning the car off and then on again to verify the symptoms of the failure, we noticed that the car rolled backwards when placed in park.the car was then towed to a local dealer, who determined that the left front axle had broken.

Accelerated to turn right onto town main street from strip mall and lost forward motion and ability to steer. Banging, spinning, buzzing noise under hood. Could not move forward in drive or back in reverse. In "park", car rolled backward into another car's front bumper. Towed on flat bed. Mechanic found snapped right front axle; indicated breakage = very uncommon.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 20v770000 (power train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving 20 mph, the vehicle loss power without warning. The vehicle was taken to joyce honda (nj-10, denville, nj 07834, (973)361-3000) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the driveshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 138,087. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Seat belt on the passenger front side of our 2009 honda fit ratchets constantly when an adult is seated in this seat. We have attempted to deal with the dealer on multiple occasions and they tell us that this is normal operating conditions for our car. We have owned several vehicles and never had this occur prior to owning this car. I deam this to be a safety concern because we have to undo the seatbelt and completely let it go in and then put it back on every few miles or it will choke the passenger sitting in the seat. So we are doing this while driving daily several times each trip.

After i'd had the car about a year, suddenly the driver's seat belt started locking up and preventing me from being able to move.this is ongoing.this happens when i lean forward only slightly.the only way to release it is to press into the back of the seat, but sometimes the belt continues to lock up every time i press back, to the point that there is no more room to release the tension on the belt.at this point i just have to take the belt off, while i'm driving.this overly-sensitive locking mechanism has become a hazard when i'm in heavy traffic and have to quickly check over my shoulder before changing lanes.i have to lean forward in order to see around the headrest, but i get trapped against the seat.again, i have had to unfasten the belt in order to gain the mobility needed to drive properly.i brought this up to the dealer and he simply brushed it off, stating this was a safety feature.this is an improperly working safety feature, making it an unsafe feature.the date provided below is the approximate date the problem started.another issue is that the rear view mirror is directly in my line of vision.i have to duck to look under it when i'm simply trying to see out the windscreen.this also is a hazard.lastly, i find the windscreen frame on the left side is situated such that it perfectly blocks pedestrians who might be standing on the corner or entering an intersection.it's so wide and angled that it covers a larger area than most vehicles.the large windscreen is a nice feature, but not when it compromises side vision.

Front seat passenger seatbelt locks and fails to release. This problem began shortly after we purchased our honda fit. It has occurred almost weekly. We have taken it into hondas service dept on several occasions but they have never found any problem. We have owned other fits without ever experiencing this issue.

Rear passenger fell asleep with right rear seat belt on.when at destination, seat belt was twisted and when the latch was released, the seat belt tightened around the passenger's waist and locked.it would not release and continued to tighten.the only way the passenger could get out was to cut the seat belt with scissors.

In addition to the takata inflators recall, the srs computer is not functioning. When the dealership replaced an inflator last year, they noticed that the srs computer is completely dead and said i will need to purchase a new one.

Side curtain airbag system required replacement after driver's seat belt did not lock intermittently after starting car and buckling; warning light came on/remained on. Vehicle was parked. Repair cost: $1,443.

This is nothing to serious i however have noticed it and i fixed it myself after a few minutes of tinkering. On the passenger side seat the front bolts that hold the seat in placed became loose. It was only loose enough to create an extremely annoying rattling and clanking noise. I just had to pop off the plastic covers and hand tighten the bolts. Problem solved.

The headrest of my 2009 honda fit gives me an extreme neck & backachet. My 2000 civic allowed better seating posture. This is not a seat back position or driver height problem. A side view of new car seats shows almost all headrests break into the vertical line of the seat back. Proper ergonomic seating according to osha can be found here: http://www.osha.gov/sltc/etools/computerworkstations/positions.html however headrests on new cars force the spine from a normal s-shape to a contorted c-shape with the head pushed forward. I understand this is due to new regulations from your office. Please bring your regulations into compliance with correct human anatomy. Thank you.

I was driving on the highway when my seat moved back suddenly. I am short and my right foot could not reach the pedal.i suddenly veered to the right on the grass to reduce the speed of the card and managed to stop the card.i still can move the seat forward. It's locked.

The incident occurred on a cold day in february of 2019 when my wife was driving the car on her way to work in the morning. She backed out of her parking spot like normal and then proceeded to an intersection where she found that her brake pedal had become hard and would not depress and she could not slow down. The vehicle continued moving into the main street at approximately 15 mph, where cross traffic was present. She narrowly missed hitting other vehicles and was grazed by another vehicle as she turned left onto the road (t intersection). Further inspection of the brake system by a honda dealership did not yield any findings, but i have tested and witnessed the brake pedal becoming hard and not depressing on cold winter mornings here in the northeast. This same problem occurred in an older honda accord hybrid that i had owned and the solution was to replace a faulty brake booster vacuum hose with integrated check valve. We were very lucky that nobody was fatally injured in this incident but this type of failure has happened twice to our family already. I suspect that other incidents involving a failing brake booster check valve resulted in the total destruction of the car or that diagnostic services by mechanics would replace the master cylinder or brake booster and finally all the hoses, thereby eliminating the problem. I'm reporting these two incidents because i hope that this will inform auto manufacturers to add the inspection of brake booster check valves to required maintenance schedules to help avoid future injuries or fatalities as a result of the failing part.

On several occasions the brakes on my car have locked and i have had to use the parking break to stop.both instances have occurred in very cold weather, early in the morning, so fortunately no injuries occurred.in both cases the break was pressed, and the car was reversed.in the first case the break was then used to stop the car, the car was placed in drive, and then the break became locked in an upright position and the car was not able to be stopped with the break after accelerating in drive.the car was driven out of a driveway and onto a main road.the parking break was employed to stop the car from hitting a fence.on the second occasion the car was put in reverse and the break then became locked in the upright position.the parking break was again employed to prevent backing into other cars.in both cases the breaks then functioned normally thereafter.the car was taken to a repair shop for this problem and when no abnormality could be detected (in warmer weather) honda was contacted.honda advised of a defect in the valve of the power boost for the automatic breaks in which it becomes stuck in an open position in cold weather.the valve is being replaced at the shop, as honda will not cover the repair since there is no recall for this problem!i was very lucky in that both instances occurred at hours when there are not many cars on the road.i hope that no one becomes injured from this defect.

Traffic was slowing down because of work on the side of the road.i tapped my brakes twice without any result.the next time i put my foot to the floor and the car would not stop.i ran into a truck.since my car was low, the sensor did not go off with the air bags.i own a honda sport fit 2009.

A vehicle stopped suddenly ahead of me on the bay bridge near sf, and even though i hit the brakes hard, the car did not stop as fast as i felt it should have.i did not think any more about it after the car was repaired, then last wednesday, 10/05/11 i needed to make an emergency stop on the freeway.after hitting the brake with both feet, i watched helplessly as the car slowed but did not stop until i hit another vehicle.these are the only two 'rear end' collisions i have had in over 30 years of driving.i know that either of my previous two cars could have effectively stopped in the distance given.i am not sure the car will be repaired again, but if it is repaired i will never drive it again.

Brake pedal is spongy. Brake pedal depresses almost to the floor before brakes engage. Pedal will pump up. 2009 fit with only 8000 miles on it.

My 2009 honda fit sport model will occasionally not stop when brakes are applied, but jump forward ten feet or so. On 4/4/09 this caused me to hit another car, resulting in $2400 body damage. Honda says nothing is wrong with the car--no computer codes--and will not try to repair it. I can no longer drive it safely, but cannot get honda america to acknowledge problem or help me.

I bought a 2009 honda fit about a year ago and it only has 11557 miles on it. In just one day the breaks went bad. I had to just replace the front brakes. It was so bad they were metal on metal. Also had to have the rear brakes cleaned and adjusted. I brought it to the honda dealership that i bought it from because i couldn't believe that a brand new car that only has 11557 miles on it would have to have the brakes fixed so soon. They couldn't explain it or couldn't give me any answers on the subject. I called many mechanics and they all told me that this shouldn't have happened so quickly and that honda should have looked into it for me. Honda wanted to charge me $460.00 and every other mechanic said it would be under $300.00. I got 2 front disc pads replaced and the slides and pins cleaned, new front rotors and the rear breaks cleaned and adjust for $285.00 at guercio's auto and truck repair.i just don't understand how a car with only 11557 miles on it has to have the breaks replaced. I do not drive my car crazy, i do not drive excessively like honda was trying to imply.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact stated while her daughter was driving at unknown speed, the steering wheel became difficult to turn with the power steering assist warning light and several other unknown warning lights illuminated. The driver continued driving to her destination. The contact also stated that she was unable to start the vehicle. The vehicle was jump started. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 106,000. The consumer stated the vehicle was diagnosed at cma's valley honda as the eps unit.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. While driving 40 mph, the steering wheel seized and made it difficult to steer the vehicle. Also, the electronic power steering warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.

This has happened 3 times since i have had the car.at speed, while driving the power steering just stops working making the car very hard to steer. There is no reason for it and after 5 to 10 seconds it comes back. Very scary without warning. Also no warning lights on the dash come on when this happens.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel seized and the tire pressure warning indicator illuminated. The dealer was not contacted for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. While driving approximately 30 mph, the power steering seized for approximately three seconds. The failure occurred intermittently without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000

While driving down a steep hill, the power steering warning light came on and the steering became very heavy an pulled to one side. The warning ligth was on for under 5 seconds and later disappeared and steering became normal again.this problem would again happen intermittently over the course of a week.we took the car to the honda dealer to check on the problem.they said the battery was low and replace the battery.the problem returned again and the dealer could not offer a solution.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. While driving at any speed, the power steering failed intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion power steering system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred and an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred on seven occasions while driving. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,250.

Takata recall.question ; my vechile power steering locks up epsdash light steering wheel lights up. Yellow on dash board thisgoes on the carand disablesitand dose ita lot . In speeds of under 25 m.p. H.car will shut down . Worried of the accident it may cause . Too safety concerned. And only have 57171 miles on vechile . While in motion. Turning also left or right turns. In local city streets

While driving, on multiple occasions, lights on dashboard flashed, radio turned off, and power steering cut out. Occurred in many different situations including highway driving. I've discovered that this is a problem that is well documented to exist both in earlier models of the fit as well as the 2009 model. The earlier versions leading up to 2008 have a safety recall for this issue, but the 2009 model does not. It needs to be recalled and repaired.

While driving on two occurrences, both city street and freeway, the electric power steering (eps) indicator lit up and power steering malfunctioned and shut down. My daughter had to pull off the side of the road as she felt so unsafe without any power steering and felt a complete loss of control of the vehicle. There was no warning and occurred while in motion. The eps warning indicator was intermittent and disappeared when the car was turned off and restarted. However, the eps warning reoccurred while driving on the freeway the same day.the 2007-08 honda fit models received extended warranties for the same eps malfunction problems, along with eligibility for goodwill consideration.that is not the case for the 2009 models. Due to the extreme danger of not knowing when the eps malfunction would occur again, the car is being repaired with a complete new eps system which will be costing us over $1000 for parts/labor.

I was driving down two lane and my radio started cutting off and on and my steering started to lock up and became hard to steer i pulled on side street and pulled into a driveway and each sharp turn with steering wheel having to make a hard cut it would die down and when i finally got car straightend out it was diffucult to guide i turned thecar off and restarted it and it seemed to run okay and then it happened again parking the car at my home

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. While driving 30 mph, extra strength was needed to steer the vehicle and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to first texas honda (3400 steck ave, austin, tx 78757, (512) 220-1121) where it was diagnosed that the electronic steering module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 153,000.

3x while driving the electronic power steering light came on. I lost power steering for 2-3 seconds each time which spontaneously restored itself while driving. Each time this happened the radio would also cut out for the duration of the incident.this is the first time i have ever lost power steering or had the electronic power steering light come on.

Power steering failure.followed by warning light and very heavy steering, was driving at about forty to forty five mph on a paved road in traffic.stopped, shut the engine off.after a few minutes restarted the engine, the ps failure light was out, the ps worked but only for about five seconds.the ps failure light came back on and the ps failed again.drove home and parked the car.

Intermittent failure of power steering occurred while the car was in reverse at low speed. Failure was accompanied by a humming sound.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. While driving various speeds, the power steering failed. The contact stated that the steering wheel became loose and caused the vehicle to enter into other lanes. The contact stated that the steering failure was intermittent. Yarborough honda in florence, south carolina was made aware of the failure and scheduled a service appointment. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

The steering wheel become extremely hard to turn.i had to turn the car off and restart the car.this has happened multiple times.

On 11-8-16 i was driving my car on a street.just before i was coming up to a traffic light, i notice the radio going in and out and then the steering wheel getting stiff. I went through the light onto a highway and pulled over and shut the engine off.i called a friend, who helped me out. After restarting car it did not reoccur but still have big concerns.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit.while driving approximately 65 mph, the power steering failed and the power steering warning indicator illuminated.the contact pulled the vehicle over and shut off the engine.upon restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation.the failure occurred intermittently.the dealer reset the power steering software, but the failure recurred.an independent mechanic stated that the power steering module needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified.the approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

While turning onto a street from a stopped position, my wheel jerked, the car completely off then back on again but the steering was stuck. I couldn't turn the wheel and when it would let me the radio system would go out and the car would shut off and back on after the steering wheel jerk again.

Driving solo, speed below the 65 mph speed limit, in left lane of a four lane divided highway (state highway 1, southbound, approximately 1/4 mile before airport bl exit). Highway was being repaved. Left lane was finished, and asphalt raised between 4 and 6 inches above right lane. Steered to the right to avoid construction debris and right front wheel went partially off the raised pavement onto the old pavement.steering wheel suddenly veered to the right and would not allow correction to be made to the left. No steering control at all. Steering locked in position and resisted all efforts by driver tomove steering wheel from fixed position. Vehicle left the road onto the unpaved shoulder and did a complete rollover. Side airbags deployed. Roof crushed and extensive body damage - judged total loss by insurance company.driver suffered severe fractures of the left arm and wrist requiring surgery, and multiple contusions. Lengthy physical therapy and rehabilitation required and suffers permanent impairment of left arm.

While driving the power steering suddenly became tight to turn, and the eps indicator light came on. The engine had to be turned off, and when restarted the steering got back to normal again, and the eps indicator light was off. However, it happened again several times, sometimes back-to-back during the same drive. It happened at least 20~25 times in the past couple of years; and finally i took it to the honda service shop for repair recently.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. Upon starting the vehicle, the steering failed. An unknown warning indicator illuminated and remained lit. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to lia honda northampton (293 king st, northampton, ma) where it was diagnosed that the electric steering box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000. The vin was not available.

The car loses power steering and the car becomes difficult to steer. This has happened when the car was moving forward at ~40mph and when trying to parallel park as well as parking head-in. As of 9/5/17, the power steering has failed four times. The electronic power steering light comes on each time. The temperature has never been below 50 degrees when the power steering has failed. Sometimes the radio shuts off when the power steering fails, but not always. Honda has issued an extended warranty for the power steering in 2007-08 honda fits, but not for 2009 fits.

When accelerating through a right-hand turn onto a highway on-ramp, all power and power steering in the car turned off, only to turn back on about a second later of it's own accord when i was nearly off the road.

I was in idle when the radio flashed off and the power steering warning light went off. It turned back off, but the car jearked and seemed to lose power. It only did this in idle for while, but one time when i was making a turn, the steering wheel jearked from hand and my car lunged at the sidewalk where people were! someone could have been killed!! i have told honda about this. I have a video of this as well.https://youtu.be/zkxiec-emvc

The power steering has been intermittently going out on random occasions for up to 20 seconds at a time. This happened several times while driving on the freeway and in the middle of turns. I can handle power steering going out, but if it happens to happen at the wrong time, that is a major safety issue. I have taken it to two different mechanics and neither have been able to figure out what is wrong.

Power steering turns off and on randomly, steering trouble light comes on within a few seconds.when this happens, steering becomes very difficult.if it happens while turning, steering wheel can jerk out of your hands.happens much more often when outside temperature is hot.occurs randomly, while moving or not.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20-30 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The contact stated that the steering ceased on several occasions. The contact stated that the failure occurred first while driving down winding roads and however, the failure was also experienced on straightaways. The power steering assist warning light illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle operated as intended. A dealer was not informed of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

On my 2009 honda fit sport with approximately 25,000 miles, the electric power steering (eps) warning light on the dash illuminated and the power steering assist stopped working while the car was in motion on a public highway.i stopped and turned the engine off and the eps reset itself and shortly tripped out again and again.i contacted the honda dealer and the service manager said that problems like this are rare.

The power steering is failing. Steering is seriously very hard to steer. Honda needs to issue a recall to repair the steering. This is positively a safety problem.

When driving my 09 fit my radio went in and out then my steering wheel indicator light popped up next thing i knew my steering wheel locked and felt stiff when trying to turn, kept happening as i drove, itā€™s happened at least 20 times maybe more in one day!!! i almost crashed because my power steering goes in and out in this car and it feels like i loose complete control of the car!!! it almost verging off on its own it feels like for about 2-3 seconds sometimes it feels like longer that this happens, once the steering wheel light goes away i can regain control. However this is very very dangerous and i do not feel safe driving the car with this is happening randomly when iā€™m driving !!!! itā€™s happening to me at low and high speeds and itā€™s very scary!!!

Intermittent loss of power steering while driving, causes difficulty in steering and potential loss of control- diagnosed by service technician as failing eps control.

Power steering has gone out intermittently while driving 4 times now. Dealer was not able to find the source of the problem.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. When attempting to start the vehicle she noticed that the electronic power steering warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel, and the steering column was locked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician located an angle sensor error code. However since the technicians could not duplicate the failure, they did not make repairs. The failure mileage was 2200. The vehicle identification number unavailable. Updated 12/07/09 *aa the manual stated to restart the engine to reset the eps and it worked after several tries. The consumer drove the vehicle about 1 mile when the power steering failed again. The power steering failed again when the mileage was 2570. The vehicle was returned to the dealer. Again there was an angle sensor error code. The eps control unit was replaced by the dealer. Updated 12/09/09. Contact says the vehicle failed again on 2/1/2010. Contact says the power steering rackwas replaced by the dealer but the part still failed. Failure miles were 4444. Current miles are 4450. Contact chose not to give vin. Aa

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact noticed that the carpet was worn out while performing maintenance on the vehicle. The dealer confirmed that the carpet needed to be replaced but even after the carpet was replaced it continued to look as if it were worn out. The manufacturer offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000. The current mileage was approximately 16,000.

All 4 doors leaking water carpet molding. Very unhealthy

My 2009 honda sport is red. The paint is fading all over....so much that it appears pink in many places. This is not representative of what honda's do. I am hopeful that honda will cover costs for repainting the vehicle.

Clear coat on roof peeled off. Faulty paint job that is common to this model year.

The hood of my car is rusting from under the hood to the outside of the hood. All of the rust spots are at the spot welds where the hood and subhood are attached to each other. Honda refuses to acknowledge this as a problem. No car should rust from the inside out.

Purchased new, and still own 2009 honda fit sport with 50k miles. Have had issues with wet floor carpet. My son thought he was not careful with water, soda, food bags, etc. His car/ (my car) has smelled terrible for several months. Again thought because he doesn't clean it out of gym clothes, food bags, shoes, etc. Upon further inspection after he returned home from college out of state this spring found water in spare wheel well, interior window condensations, soaking wet carpets, mold and terrible smell. Can't figure out where the water is coming from. Live in the snowy northeast. No accidents and regular maintenance performed at dealership. Without pulling up the carpets myself i can see evidence of rust on the bottom of rear seats and pulling carpet back a little can see rust. This is all over the internet as a problem. Only time before electrical components are damaged.

Roof is fading, from about middle of roof to the rear. Rest of the car is still its shinny blue color.

The roof has leaked where the side panel and roof meet. Water leaks into the car staining the roof interior headliner. Water also has leaked into the side curtain airbag panels which could cause airbag malfunction.honda states this is not a structural issue but a seal that is not covered under warranty.

All 4 doors leaking water badly. Carpets molding.

The roof of my honda fit is flaking off very badly. This delamination occurred very quickly over a few months. There are 15 year old cars with better paint than my car. Hondas are built to last, but they won't look like they are lasting. I take so much pride in keeping a clean car and this condition makes me look like i don't take care of it.

The paint on my car has either not cured correctly at the factory, or is too soft. After driving the car for a few months the paint is chipping off and the car looks worse than my 7 year old honda accord. This is not a safety concern, but will definitely cause the car to rust very soon. This should not happen after 6 months of driving. If you search online, this is not an isolated incident and almost all fit owners are noticing that there is a serious issue with the paint on the car that will cause the body of the car to start to rust very quickly.

There is a leak coming from the rear passenger door.the floor is soaked.after some on-line research, it appears that this is a common fit experience...which honda has done nothing about.this should not happen on a car that is only three years old.

On october 3, 2008 i have purchased new 2009 honda fit from north shore honda in new york. In december 2009, i spotted some rust under the carriage. On january 12, 2010, i took my fit to the north shore honda for rust inspection, i was told that it is normal and there is no problem. I knew that was wrong, but i left the dealership very disappointed since they refused to help me. Around middle of august 2010, i inspected my fit once again saw even more rust and on different parts. Most of rust appears to be on left and right transverse link, on the suspension member, exhaust flange severely rusted and sway bar link ends/bolts also rusted.on august 17, 2010 i took my fit back to the same dealership seeking help. Once again, the service manager told me that surface oxidation is considered normal. After a short conversation he said, 'yes it is rust, but that's how they all are' what he meant was that all honda cars are like that and showed me an accord with the similar rust. I said, 'ok but that is very unacceptable for the new cars'. Fortunately, that day a honda representative was on premises and he also admitted after long conversation that there is plenty of rust, but still refused to help me to take care of my car.on august 20, 2010, i wrote a letter to honda president mr. Tet suo iwamura complaining about rust under the carriage. I did received call back from honda, but they absolutely refused to fix the rust problem. I believe that within few years it will become a safety issue, if not properly treated.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact stated while making a right turn, he heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to his residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,475.

Just another case of broken passenger cv axle on motion( metal split in two). I will try pictures later is dark right now.

2009 honda fit. Consumer states problem with tires *tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle was purchased to tow behind a motorhome.the vehicle was towed for about 1,000 miles over several days, when all of a sudden the front wheels locked up.the consumer had jut pulled into a gas station traveling 5 mph when it occurred.the two front tires on the vehicle had to be replaced.when the consumer went to the local dealer, the could not explain why it happened. Their only explanation was that maybe the battery failed or was too low but they didn't know why it would effect the front wheels locking or if it caused any damage to the abs.

24k miles tires worn out and the cost 175.00 each this is a consumer rip off.

2009 honda fit. Consumer requests refund form dealer *tgwthe consumer stated he had to purchased new tires on two separate occasions. When the consumer started the vehicle to leave the dealership, he noticed the tpms warning light was on. The consumer alerted the service ticket writer who stated it would take some time for the sensor to reset itself and it would go off after the vehicle was driven for 10-15 minutes.the consumer stated he drove for approximately 30 minutes and the light remained illuminated.the next morning, the consumers wife drove the vehicle to work and the light was still on.the consumer contacted the dealer and was advised to bring the vehicle in.the technician claimed to have fixed the sensor and advised the consumer to drive the vehicle a few miles and the warning light would go out.the consumer drove home and the light was still on. The second time when the consumer arrived to have the tires replaced,he started the vehicle to leave the dealership and the tpms light was still on.the consumer was then informed that the tires needed to be over-inflated so the sensor would go off. The tires were then over-inflated. However, the light remained on.

Takata recall i have trouble with the studs on the wheel breaking. I had new tires put on and one broke, had new break pads put on and another broke. This is a big expense added that should not have to be my place to fix. It is a safety to all that own these vehicles because while driving the wheel can come off.this needs to have recall on it before someone gets killed. Each time one breaks it cost me 400.00 to have fixed. This was notnegelance of the one that was working on my car. This was two different places i had work did to my car. Please check into this asap. I feel i have been a victim of a fault of honda.

Multiple door lock actuators have failed--numerous times. The door locks either don't work to unlock or to lock or they make a whirring noise, after which they may open. At 78,119 miles on the car, i replaced both the left rear door lock actuator and the rear hatch lock actuator. At 120,000, the right front door, the left rear (again), and the rear hatch lock (again) have all failed! shop wants $359 each! to repair. Honda customer care provided no assistance other than to say no recalls have been issued.

2009 honda fit sport vin# [xxx]. We live in maine. It was happen after my wife drop my daughter at school. She drive back home she exit regular street turn left to rout 1 then the car stop moving at the middle of the road. The other car that drive on rout 1 need to stop immediately. Car still started normally but when i change shift to d it not move forward and put r not move backwards either even p i push the car it still move it not park and car make noise sound on p. I think it is a power train problem.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Tire pressure sensor is dead and the repair cost is $500+.correct tire pressure is a safety issue.

On 10/3/2018, my front axle snapped while i was driving straight. I was not in an accident. There was no inciting incident. At carx in peoria, il, they indicated that in the center, there is a rubber seal which may have been contaminated by water (not by driver; mfr problem). At that time, it cost me $362 to have it repaired. Today, 10/1/2020, my front axle snapped again as i was turning right while driving. I was not in an accident. I had my car towed to carx. They have determined that, again, my front axle has snapped. I'll be up for hundreds of dollars worth of repairs. Thank goodness i was not rear-ended when it happened. I will secure copies of both repairs.

When accelerating through a right-hand turn onto a highway on-ramp, all power and power steering in the car turned off, only to turn back on about a second later of it's own accord when i was nearly off the road.

(please know my phone # below is not correct, as your system will not accept an international #, and i am an american in germany). My 2009 honda fit was a sport version. I do not know what the "affected parts" were. What i do know, is i was driving to work; was going to take a left at a 't' intersection (as i had done hundreds of times before); but my car failed to accelerate out of the way of oncoming traffic. I hadn't been rushed, as i'd left a bit earlier than usual; and traffic was coming in both directions, but was far enough away yet, that i didn't rush my crossing. I had just barely rolled out into the closer lane, with the accelerator peddle pressed maybe half way down, but the car didn't keep going. I saw a minivan approaching, and pressed the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor, but the car didn't respond. I then saw the impact of the van into my door. I do not know if the accelerator pedal messed up, or if it was electrical, or the engine, or what. But, the problem is obviously a huge safety issue. The car is totaled; myself, the van driver and one of her passengers were injured.

I tried to unlock my car with the remote, it didn't unlock. I could hear that it was trying to unlock. I then tried the key in the door and it would not turn all the way. I had to call aaa to have them unlock the passenger side. The drivers door will not unlock. I have to enter the passenger side and climb over. I also, cannot lock the car when parked, because it will not unlock.

I was driving a 2009 honda fit sport into a parking space at the store with my foot on the brake and speed was appropriate for pulling into a parking space ( approx. 3-5 mph.).at approx. 4-6ft from the parking cement block of the space, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated with a violent surge and the rpm needle shot up to the top of the gauge and with in seconds i hit the large cement/metal handicapped sign/pole at the front of the parking space. The engine was still making the loud revving noise after the collision and the only way to stop it was to take out the keys. The only thing that stopped the car was the cement/metal pole.the car jumped the parking block and hit the pole.if the pole had not been there, somebody could have been killed as this car was no longer under my power.the airbag went off and i have serious contusions on my chest and side ( i assume from the airbag and seatbelt) and my right leg was injured as well. The bumper, hood and airbag, seatbelt were damaged, but the engine had no damage as far as i could tell.i contacted the dealership (west hills honda bremerton) where the car was bought and serviced regularly and they said they couldn't help or did not want to. The service manager [xxx] called and left a message saying he has heard of this happening, but to call honda america, which i did. The claims rep. ([xxx].) for honda america had us meet a field rep.([xxx]) at dealership to perform tests. And of course they found no problem. As a sua does not leave a footprint when it happens. They did find obd2 codes po171 and po400 and said they were caused by crash. They also said the tire pressure light code was appearing even though the tires were fine when checked. The service manager mike said it could be an electronic problem.hmm do you thing the electronic throttle cable might have a problem too?i will be seeking legal help!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Hi,i would like to report a sudden acceleration problem with my 2009 honda fit sport model.the incidence happened while i was traveling between 5 to 10 miles per hour. I was trying to park the car. I let the car slowly rolled forward into the empty parking spot ahead. Because i was traveling at pretty low speed, so i only gently applied the brake pedal as i was getting closer to the empty parking spot. As i slowly pressed on the brake, the car just suddenly accelerated. The car shot ahead. I quickly released my foot on the brake pedal and applied the hand brake. After the car came to a complete stop, it actually rolled over on the side walk. Luckily, no one was on the sidewalk and no damage or injury occurred. I have been driving the honda fit for 1.5 year and this is the only time i noticed such a problem. I plan to bring the car in for service in the next few weeks.

2009 honda fit. Consumer states unintended acceleration after collision *tgwthe consumer stated he and his wife were sitting at a red light, when suddenly they were rear-ended. After they were hit from behind, the vehicle accelerated into the car in front of them, striking it in the rear as well. Despite the consumer having applied the brake as hard as he could, the vehicle continued to spin its wheels as if the accelerator was being floored.the consumer had the emergency brake on, and his foot was still on the brake. The only way the consumer was able to stop the vehicle was by turning off the engine. (the vehicle belongs to the consumers father).

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle became unresponsive when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,479.

2009 honda fit windshield restricts driver's view.the first time i drove my new base model2009 honda fit in bumper-to-bumper rush hour traffic i discoveredthat i could not see enough through its too high, too narrow (from top to bottom) windshield to accurately position the fit behind the car in front of me. The dashboard in the 2009 fit slopes upward, not downward, to meet the windshield, and it meets the windshield at a point one to two inches higher than in any other vehicle i have ever driven. The result is that the upper edge of the dashboard blocks the driver's view of the road in front of the car.to see this, do this simple test. Draw a"starting" line across a two lane driveway.park a 2009 fit base model and any other model of car side by side so that their front bumpers are at the "starting line".sit in the driver's seat of the fit and look through the windshield to find the first part of the road you can see.mark it mentally or have a friend chalk it for you. Now sit in the other car's driver's seat and mark the first part of the road you can see.for me the first piece of visible road is 15 to 20 feet in front of the fit and 5 to 10 feet in front of a 2008 corolla. That loss of 10 feet of visible road directly in front of car becomes critical when driving at high speed in closely spaced traffic.it's also a threat when driving in a residential neighborhood where small children or their pets occasionally dart into the street. I survived a terrifying drive through rush hour traffic by leaving a lot of extra space between the fit and the car ahead of me.i returned the 2009 fit to the dealer who sold it to me. Now i am driving a 2008 corolla. The corolla windshield and side windows provide an excellent 180 degree view of the road, both close to the car and farther away.

I have a 2009 honda fit sport with 3,035 miles on it, and there is a large stress fracture in the windshield. It was parked in my drive way with no problems. I noticed the fracture the next day before i drove my car. I looked online, and this is a fairly common problem.

Last february i was sitting in my 2009 honda fit defrosting the windshield and as the defroster heat became warmer, i heard a cracking noise. The windshield spontaneously cracked while the car was sitting in my yard warming up and defrosting. I was sitting in the car and can attest to the fact that nothing struck the parked vehicle windshield. The crack started out at approximately three inches or so and has grown quite large since then. It was early morning when this happened and it was bright daylight so there was no way any object could have fallen on or struck my vehicle without my being aware of this.

Crack in windshield of 2009 honda fit; less than three months old. Parked car the night of 2/9/10 in driveway facing in. Woke to crack the next morning. Called dealer 2/10/10 told to come in but not a stress fracture. Called honda to report, told to take to dealer for documentation. Looked on line and there are several complaints of the same. 2/11/10 reports in hand i went to dealer. Again they say impact-- the car was sitting still at night in driveway and the sky fell!! even went under a half inch space under the wiperarm and hit glass.?? dealer called me back 2/16/10 said no complaints still impact and weather caused brake, tim stated he spoke to reppat thomas of honda and they wont fix it. Now what no one listening to me. Seems funny there are other complaints on line and they don't know about it please help i drive the freeways and this crack is one third my windshield now and is a safety issue.

Honda fit was parked in open parking lot, in 80+ degree weather, and 7 hour-unattended, returned to find windshield cracked.crack starting at base/bottom and extending upward 14 inches, with no impact visible.photo taken and vehicle taken to local honda dealer, who said a rock hit it, they could not pay for repair. Car was repaired at windshield at owners cost $412. Numerous (online) reports suggest many stress related (windshield) cracks have to reported to honda.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact was driving approximately 25 mph and noticed there was a stress fracture on the front windshield. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated that failure was not a fracture but debris that was stuck to the windshield. The contact stated he witnessed the fracture occur and it was not caused by debris. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 14,400.

While driving my 2009 honda fit around noon time, my windshield cracked. Out of no where. The crack ran from the top - where it meets the roof - up to the point where the rear-view mirror attaches to the windshield, approximately 4 inches long. The next morning, i realized the crack had extended even further. Now, the crack is about 10 inches long. The first thing i did was call america honda whom is responsible for honda care warranty and they told me windshields were not covered by honda care, even though i claimed that could be a defect and could harm the safety of the driver and the passenger. After talking with america honda, i called the dealer from which the 2009 honda fit was purchased and all they told me was to file a comprehensive complaint with my car insurance. The insurance then informed me that it would cost about $425.00 to repair a defect, which i believe honda should be held responsible for, since that could very well be a manufacture defect.

This complaint regards a 2009 honda fit that we have/had owned for a little over one year.last saturday, when my husband was turning left into our driveway, and so was going quite slow, he turned into a person who was coming straight toward him on the other side of the road. She was approaching by coming up a moderate incline, but well noticeable by any other car that i have driven.we have owned this property for over 30 years and there has been no other trouble in this vicinity.i have been very leery of driving the fit since a few days after purchase because of the blind spots that i noticed when driving the car.the same kind of accident has almost happened to me and to my husband several other times with this car, the 2009 honda fit, since our ownership of it.the major problem has been the a-pillars in the large front window.the first time that i noticed it was a few days after ownership in 2009, a person stepped off a curb as i was turning, and i did not initially see him.fortunately, i did see him as the car moved and the blind spot was no longer impeding my view.unfortunately for my husband, when he turned last saturday there was a significant accident with hopefully minor injuries, and the fit was totaled by the insurance company.the other driver involved also sustained significant damage and was taken to the hospital to be checked for injury.there is no way for us to correct this problem, but i hope that someone will take a look at this issue so that injury and damage and possibly, death, can be avoided for others.except for this significant safety problem, the car fit our lifestyle perfectly, but i will never own another as long as this problem persists.

I went to my car on a cold morning and found a crack which was not there when i parked the car the night before.it was a linear crack about 6 inches long extending straight from the middle bottom of the front windshield.no evidence of anything striking the windshield or car.no debris.no obvious chip.i drove to dealer the next and they tried to tell me there was a "chip", which was smaller than a pinhead which they felt indicated that it was an impact fracture.when pressed on why it wasn't a thermal or stress fracture, the service manager even once said "yes, it's a thermal fracture, but it was caused by an impact.the area where the "chip" wasabove the original extent of the original crack and was in a region of spread which developed later, after driving the car to the dealership.the service manager said that can happen, with the crack starting at a point separate from the impact site.the entire length of the crack is about 18 inches currently.the service manager, general manager, and regional service manager all claim that this is a impact fracture and refuse to cover it under the warranty.the service manager avoids phones calls.the general manager refuses to give me a written attestation that this is an impact fracture and refuses to deal with me.the regional service representative cannot be contacted and does not deal with consumers.the honda customer service representative said that i could take it to a different dealer, but warned that they probably answer to the same district service manager.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact stated that the dashboard impaired his visibility while driving during sunny weather conditions and nearly caused a crash to occur. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who offered him a dashboard cover. The contact did not purchase a cover. The contact stated that this was a safety issue.the failure mileage was 10,000.

Windshield cracked on its own while parked, starting from the center of cowl and crawling up toward the roof line.honda has a service bulletin out there that recognize this issue ( 12-006 ) for 2009-2010 honda fit but will only address the issue if the crack occurred while the car was still under the bumper to bumper 3 year or 36,000 mile warranty (according to honda dealer).the crack on my car happened few days beyond the warranty period and was not covered.i consider the cracking to be a safety issue as i could feel that the cracked area was trying to bow outward and did not feel safe driving the car at any major speed.i replaced the windshield immediately out-of-pocket.if honda recognizes that 2009-2010 honda fit has windshield crack issues due to misapplied molding or other defects inherent to the car and not due to impact to the windshield, then the repair should be covered regardless of when this cracked occurred.

Hvac blower motor works only on high speed. If this is a known issue and it is due to overheating, why isn't there a recall on it since it seems like a fire hazard. As soon as mine went out, the air system also started making a loud grinding sound.

The contact owns a 2009 honda fit. The contact stated the air conditioner fan operated only at the high level when in activation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they informed that the failure was contributed to the blower motor. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage wasapproximately 47,000.

4 months after purchasing my new car, the windshield cracked.then, within 10 days, it developed a 2nd crack while i was driving it to oregon (i live in ca).the first crack began in the bottom center of my windshield, the 2nd crack began at the top center (behind my rear view mirror). After searching the internet, i found several website devoted to this same problem on the same make/model/year as my car from people all over the u.s.

24k miles tires worn out and the cost 175.00 each this is a consumer rip off.

2009 honda fit.

I just exited a highway, stopped at a traffic light on the intesection. When i tried to turn right i heard a noise like the car hit something. But there was nothing for the car to hit upon turning on right. The car started rolling back until i used the handbrake and turned engine off. When i looked under the car, there was nothing obviously adrift. Towing service came and confirmed that the front passenger side axel shaft is broken. The car was towed to the shop where the technician removed the broken axel shaft and showed it to me - the axel shaft rusted inside the rubber boot. Anyway, two cops helped me get the car out of the intersection and into a driveway, and i called a local shop that i deal with when i can't do the work myself, and had it towed there. They called me later that day to say that the right half shaft had snapped inside the damper, and that was the reason for no go and nothing adrift. They asked if i wanted to replace both half shafts, and i said hell yes, taking no chances on a repeat. A week later and $700 bucks lighter, i had the car back. The shop owner and the lead mechanic both said that they had heard of this issue, but my '07 fit was the first one that they had seen. They also opined that this should be a recall issue.
