I own a 2007 honda fit sport and just yesterday while the car was parked and not running, i went to start it to leave work and the eps indicator light came on, steering wheel locked and car would not start. Was told a few things to try; bypassing battery cables clearing the circut, checked the fuse and neither worked(worth a try just to say we did so we would know). Finally had it towed to automotive shop, left over night only to find out the car started right away with no warning light on (eps indicator) for the mechanic. They drove it around, turned off, restarted and it started right up. Also hooked up to their code tool and no codes came up. My concern here is that this will happen again to myself, my 16 year old son, my 13 year old son riding as a passenger, or other passengers while driving (our only form of transportation) and cause an accident, harm, injury, or possibly death to ourselves and others around us. This is not safe and honda should fix this issue regardless of how old the vehicle is or the mileage. It's a hazard to every life!
Takata recallthe letter we received from honda in march 2016 stated, "the remedy parts needed to conduct driver's airbag inflator recalls will become available in the summer of 1016. Honda will send you another letter when parts become available to repair your vehicle."we never received another letter, but heard from a friend that she called her dealer and got the replacement installed.we contacted our dealer who installed a replacement october 13th.however, i suspect that other persons are waiting for another letter from honda and have not had a replacement yet.
Takata recalli contacted the dealer on 6/27/2016 to schedule recall repair. I called again on 8/25 and they stated part was ordered on 7/19 (more than 2 weeks after my initial request) and is still not in. This delay is causing significant problems as i cannot transport anyone in the front passenger seat for the last 2 months! still no word on timing of repair. Very frustrating .
Honda fit 2007 recall. I received a recall notice in july of this year about a recall repair needed for the vehicle i recently purchased. The recall was for the passenger side airbag to be replaced by then end of the summer and start of fall. I contacted the dealership after i received the notice and was told i would receive a second notice which i never received. My call was transferred over to another department where i left my contact information and a woman called me a few days later stating she would order the part and contact me when it came in. I have never received any other notice or call about it since and i am worried for my safety in this vehicle if it should rupture or cause any other injury to myself or any passengers.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit.the contact stated that the gears were not shifting properly.the failure occurred intermittently.when the vehicle is started, one of the air bag icons illuminate and remains lit for approximately ten minutes.the front and rear bumper paint is chipping and the passenger side front bumper is detached from the vehicle.the dealer has been notified.the current mileage was 21,300 and failure mileage was 18,000.
Was in an accident after recall in which the front end was crushed completely and none of the airbags opened recently took car in for recall prior and complained about other concerns with car at dealership
Takata recall. Called dealership and ordered passenger airbag parts on july 7th, and again on july 20th when they said my first call was not in the system. I called again on august 20th and they said there was no time in the future when this would be fulfilled. This is our only vehicle, and we do not have room to drive safely in it.
I received the recall notice (see attachment) from honda in july 2016. I made an appointment at fairfax honda for repair. When i stopped by to drop it off the person at the service told me they need to place an order for the part. He said i should be getting a call or an email when it's delivered. I never heard back from them for 2weeks so i called them. They said it's not delivered yet so i will have to wait more. It's now january 2017 and haven't heard anything.
I drove into my driveway to park in our car port.as i approached the car port the car suddenly accelerated. I applied the brakes but it did not even slow down. The car went over a 8 inch by 4 inch barrier at the front of the car port, continued to gain speed as it went through a small garden, then it knockeddownour privacy fence.all during this time i was applying the brake.the car then went about 60 feet through our neighbors yard and continued through the next houses' privacy fence and went another 6 feet and finally stopped when it hit thehouse. The air bags never released.
I recently was involved in a head on wreck, totaling my car. The airbags never deployed although the car was a complete loss from the frontal impact. I was moving forward in a 45 mph zone, as someone ran a stop sign to my right. I was driving on a straight highway, on the inside lane.
Takata recall--despite my numerous calls, our honda dealer in fayetteville, arkansas has never arranged to have the issue resolved.

Takata recall. Received a recall letter in the mail from american honda. Took the vehicle to stevens creek honda one month ago. The told me that they would need approval from honda to do the recall. Still have not received an approval to get the recall done. Is there anything you can do to help me with this situation?

I was taking a ride through the mountains and had parked and when i tried to start the car the ignition switch wouldn't turn like it was locked, i was by my self, and it started raining and my window was down ,i couldn't get ahold of anyone who could come help me so i had to figure out how to start the car a different waywhich i had to use whatever i had handy ,,well it took a whole day and more for me to finally get it started, when i did i start smelling burning ,i was freaking out ,when i noticed it was coming from my window switch, i started trying to get the fire to stop and i shut off the car. So i had to take off the panel to get the part off so i could get off the mountain. I didn't know that that was an already known recallor i would have gotten it fixed sooner, i didn't learn about it until i received an urgent notice in the mail about airbag inflator . So i am here at the pye honda in dalton ga.
Takata recallhonda is not resolving my alternative transportation needs while they deal with their recall issues. They gave me a rough estimate of 2019 for replacement parts to fix my explosive airbag. I have waited a week now without a phone call from the department i was instructed to call and i am not being able to safely use my vehicle. This situation is now costing me personally on many levels, both in safety and financial means as i can't use my car. I am asking the government for help by filing this complaint.

I call again in 7/25 and was told that they would expedite rental. I called again 8/1 and told that it is in the works but they have 10k complaints to process. I am between a rock and a hard place as we will be forced to use the car but am afraid of what could happen. Takata recall:i'm wondering if our 2007 honda fit is awaiting any more recalls?
Takata recallmy daughter drives my 3 grandchildren in the honda fit 2007. Not only has the recall not been addressed but the indicator that turns the airbag on and off of the front passenger seat is broken and in the on position which endangers everyone in the automobile not just the front seat passenger. All seats are needed. This is our only vehicle for our daughter. It is an emergency to have a safe vehicle to use. Our grandchildren and daughter's life depends on it. We have called numerous times, contacted both the dealership and the manufacturer and to no avail. Their only response is that the parts are not yet available and there are a lot of vehicles involved in the recall. That does not help us. We need a safe vehicle!!!!

Nothing actually "happened" while i was driving the car. My airbag light went on and would not shut off, so i visited hennessey honda in woodstock, georgia, for service. I am perplexed that i need to replace a passenger airbag for almost $700. A recall was issued three years ago, and i had a canister replaced on the 2007 honda fit, due to a recall. Last week i looked on the nhtsa recall list and found the passenger side airbag inflator recall list from june 27, 2019, and the 2007-2008 honda fit is listed. When i put in my vin into the list, it indicates that i have 0 recalls. I don't understand why i would not qualify for the recall repair. If the airbag product was defective, i should not have to pay for the repair for a new one. I wanted to file a complaint to make sure nhtsa knows that these airbags still need repairs, and perhaps honda should be pressured by nhtsa to complete these repairs free of charge. Thank you.

Takata recall.first contact with dealer (honda and subaru of santa fe, nm) 7/30/16.informed that parts were not available.second contact 8/30/16 with same result.now 70+ days since initial contact with dealer.no reply from dealer as of 10/10/16.inconvenience of limitation of use and possible injury or death makes unresponsiveness of honda and dealer grossly irresponsible.

I received a safety recall notice in june 2016, i called my local honda dealer and was told the parts would be ordered and be in 4-5 days. Never received a call back. I called them several times and was told the parts are on backorder and they have no idea when they will be in. I called honda customer service and they did nothing either. Completely kept in the dark, my car was rear ended this weekend, luckily the passenger airback did not deploy or my wife could have been killed.
Takata recall - parts not being provided to fix problem.honda not helping us with alternative transportation, wont even call us back.use car several times weekly with full passengers.only one car.don't feel safe.have known about recall since 7/6/16 and on their list.still no fix and no hope to be fixed soon.car companies are responsible for providing a safe, usable product.our car is not safe or usable in the manner we need to use it.this has caused much havoc in our regular routine.honda has been unconcerned about our case.

Nhtsa recall 16v-344 requiring replacement of the airbag on my vehicle was issued on may 23, 2016.i was told by my local dealership (honda cars of rock hill (sc)) that the bags were not available but on order.in july, 2016, i received from american honda motor company a notice of the recall including the statement,"honda suggests that you avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the recall repair has been performed."i called the dealership back and was told that the parts were still not available and that i was "on a waiting list." on august 16, i again called the dealership and was told the parts are not available and that they "have no idea" when they will be.today, august 17, i spoke with american honda and a representative said, "no one can tell you when the parts will be available."if no one in honda knows when the parts will be available then it is conceivable that they never will be. It is unrealistic and impractical (and unsafe) to assume that the front passenger seat will not be used until some date no one in honda knows.
I received a letter from honda in mid july saying that i needed to make arrangements to have my air bag serviced. I called 7/17/16 to make the appointment. It also stated to not allow any passengers in the front seat until the repair was made.i am still waiting for my local honda dealer to get the part. It has been 90 days since i called and made the request. I have been in contact with honda numerous times and they still do not have the part fro my car. The notice i received said i could fie a complaint after 60 days and i decided to give them some additional time before making the complaint. I am tired of waiting and not being able to have passengers in the front seat. It has been a real inconvenience.

The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Takata recall: i made an appointment to get my passenger-side airbag fixed, but since i live an hour away from the dealership, i was going to have to drop the car off the night before. When i asked gunn honda for a loaner car, they refused. They said they don't give loaners for recall repairs, especially when it's one that "doesn't affect the use of the car." they said, "you don't have to get this recall done. Just don't let anyone ride in the passenger seat."i called american honda (corporate). The three people i spoke with were terrific, and a loaner was secured at gunn honda as a result of corporate's intervention.when i arrived at gunn honda, the first thing that [xxx], my service advisor, said was, "oh, you're the one with the loaner. You called corporate." he went on to say, "yeah, she was mad when she called." i replied, "i'm not surprised. I was too. But it looks like it's all getting taken care of, so that's good."he then said with a smug smile, "well, she's in big trouble because we don't do that, and our factory rep was pissed that she got you a loaner. She's in big trouble."the rude and antagonistic comments continued. He commented on how unnecessary it was for me to get the recall taken care of because i "don't have to use the passenger seat." comments were made about how honda is blameless in the airbag recall issue and shouldn't have to do anything extra for their customers because they didn't do anything wrong.i received dirty looks from several other people while i was there, especially when i took pictures of the outside of my car for documentation before leaving it there.today i received a call that the car was ready but my battery is "not registering when tested." i was advised to buy a new battery even though mine has at least 40 months left and a 40% credit.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Involved in a car accident on 12/29/2006 in our 2007 honda fit and was struck in the front passenger headlight and right side which crushed our vehicle all the back to the windshield, but the airbags did not deploy. We were going approximately 35-40 mph when the mustang pulled out from a parking lot, went across 3 lanes and struck our honda fit. Car was not drivable and had to be towed while my family and myself were taken to the hospital by ambulance. We have the police report and pictures.

Takata recallsrs light came on at almost 113,000 miles with code 11-10 for driver side airbag inflator. All open recalls for this vehicle have already been completed.the driver side airbag was recalled in fits from 2009-2014.only the passenger airbag was covered by recall in 2007 fits.
Takata recall honda replaced the passanger airbag, but not the driver side.they said it wasn't a takata inflator.this did not make sense to me.today (6/12/18 ) on the news they said millions of the airbags are still a serious problem and have not been replaced.i just want the truth about my car, why would they put a takata bag on one side and something else on the other????

I own a 2007 honda fit, sport model- that was involved in an accident.i was driving my car on the highway in stop and go traffic.there was a late model toyota tundra pickup truck infront of my car and it came to a sudden stop.i couldn't stop quick enough- i was traveling at low speed must be under 15mph.my car hit the bumper of the pick up truck infront of me and the hood, lights and entire "top" front end sustained about "$7000" worth of damage.but none of the airbags deployed at all.lots of lights on the gauge cluster came on and went off but the airbags did not deploy.the tundra only sustained a scratch on the rear bumper.after a tear down by the body shop it was determined that the sensors were installed at the sides at the front end of the frame rail.this is a very low position on this car since its already low to the ground.i believe the airbag sensors are too low on these cars by poor and irresponsible design by honda.had these sensors been placed at a higher elevation then the airbags would have gone off and the injuries would have been even minor.this design decision seems like it was developed to satisfy the frontal crash tests conducted by the insurance institute for highway safety.during those tests the cars are evaluated for crashes to a solid object anchored to the ground.the airbags would not deploy in a crash scenario with any vehicle that would not bea compact car.i was lucky because there was no loss of life but the same accident at a higher speed would have resulted in no airbag deployment and certain loss of life. The car is currently being repaired at a body shop in lorton va.i extend you the opportunity to come and study the car if you care to do so...thanks so muchshazad buksh

The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact wanted to file a complaint against the manufacturer. A manufacturer representative at the recall center advised the contact that the frontal driver side air bag needed to be replaced. The scheduling department refused to schedule an appointment to have the air bag replaced. The dealer (rick case honda, east 200th street, euclid, ohio, 216-416-6700) stated that the frontal driver's air bag would eventually need to be replaced. The contact also stated that the driver's air bag was replaced by the previous owner of the vehicle. The contact had not received a recall notification. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I have experienced the same issues in a recall (07v-549) for wire harness occupant detection system. This recall applies to "salt states", howver we here in florida near the gulf of mexico have the same issue with salt and corrosion. I would like to urge the nhtsa to expand the recall to include all states near salt water. The dealer and honda motor cars, usa have refused to fix this issue at no cost.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. When the vehicle was restarted, the low beam headlights were inoperable. The failure occurred intermittently. The contact also stated that when the front passenger side seat was occupied by a passenger who weighed approximately 130 lbs, the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v624000 (exterior lighting). The failure mileage was 126,000.
2007 honda fit. Consumer writes in regards to safety recall airbag repairs *tgwthe consumer stated he took his vehicle in for service for threesafety recalls.the recall was intended to address the front and passenger air bags. The dealer performed a $98 diagnostic and spent over two hours trying to locate the problem. Along with the recall to remedy the corrosion damage and a faulty connection in the srs occupant detection system; they found an open driver first airbag inflator. They hooked up the srs simulator and replaced the cable reel the bill for the air bag repair was $415.18. The dealer reduced the labor cost by $50.00.also, the cruise control would not set. The dealer replaced the cruise control combination switch.
- the contact was concerned about the air bag crash test results ofthe2007 honda fit.the insurance institute of highway safetyreportedthe following r on this vehicle: http://www.iihs.org/ratings/rating.aspx?id=722"the honda fit was introduced in the 2007 model year.the fit was evaluated in two 40 mph frontal offset crash tests. In the first test, the driver's frontal airbag deployed too early, with the result that high forces were recorded on the dummy's head when it bottomed out the airbag and hit the steering wheel hard, indicating the likelihood of head injuries. This led honda to modify the frontal airbag deployment characteristics on models produced after november 2006. Also, honda will initiate a safety improvement campaign to modify at its cost vehicles produced earlier.a second fit was tested with the modified airbags, and the driver'sairbag inflated later. Ratings of the fit was based on the results of the second test, except structural performancewhich was based on both tests. Restraints/dummy kinematics.dummy movement was well controlled. The side curtain and side thorax airbags deployed during the crash. During rebound, the dummys head contacted the side curtain airbag, which kept the head away from any stiff structure that could cause injury. Measures taken from the head, neck, and chest indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit.while driving 70 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch.the frontal air bags failed to deploy.she sustained injuries to her neck and left rib cage.the contact was previously rear-ended by a vehicle driving 45 mph.the frontal air bags failed to deploy during that crash as well.the manufacturer stated that there was no recall for the air bags; therefore, the contact would be responsible for the repair costs.the failure and current mileages were 80,000.
Dt*: the contact stated the driver side air bag did not deploy in a frontal impact crash. The speed at the time of impact was 40 mph. There was no pre-impact braking. The driver was wearing the seat belt but there were soft tissue injuries sustained on the neck and back. A police report was processed.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The driver was traveling at approximately 25 mph when a vehicle failed to yield and crashed into the left front of the contacts vehicle. The driver side frontal air bag did not deploy and the driver suffered injuries to the head. The vehicle was towed and a police report was not filed. The contact planned to call the manufacturer. The current and failure mileages were approximately 33,000.

Intermittent display of air bag warning light. According to dealer there is a break in the steering wheel 'cable reel' that connects the steering wheel air bag (as well as the horn and the cruise control).
I own a 2007 honda fit sport that was in a high speed crash. Reading the complaint # 10228324 i can relate to this issue. I was hit on the very front left side at about 55 mph and then pushed offthe road to the right. The right front of the car hit a dirt burm around 30 mph. The air bags didn't deploy but the air bag light stayed on until it was reset. The body shop advised me that the impact cut the wiring harness to the air bags and sensor's had been cut in half and the sensors were cracked. It sounds like the left side of this model fit has many flaws and i am lucky that i was seriously injured. The only answer i can get on this issue is that the impact wasn't in the red zone for the air bags to deploy. I'm sorry but if they don't deploy during a front end impact why would i ever think they would have ever deployed with the wires cut in half. The red zone isn't the issue. The car is a death trap on wheels. So much for the safety ratings because it seems like this car has an air bag issue. The recall because of salt, b.s. Because i live in texas and have 2 of these cars that the passenger sensor is still shorting out even after they replaced it. Texas isn't one of the states that is in the multi salt states that the recall covers. I think someone need to take a long hard look at the issue before some does loose there life. Enough said...... My foot also falls asleep and hurts like you could never imagine after i drive only 25 miles. Complaint # 10221630 -- i feel your pain..... I have 2 of these cars and each one puts my foot to sleep no matter how i move the seat. ----
We have a 13 year old who weighs over 75 pounds.she began riding in the front passenger seat of our 2007 honda fit after her 13th birthday.we noticed that the srs indicator light came on while she sitting in the front passenger seat.according to the honda manual, if the light comes on other than when you first start the car, you should have your car checked by the dealer, as this may indicate that the air bags or seat belt tensioners are not working properly.we have now taken our car to two different dealers on three separate occasions. They claim the srs system and the and the sensors work properly. We followed the instruction is the manual, and checked items that might be interfering with the sensors. We have a picture of our daughter sitting in the passenger with the srs indicator light on. We have had her ride in another 2007 fit, where this problem did not occur. The problem continues to occur in our car, however honda says they cannot fix this, as they claim there is nothing wrong.we disagree.our 75+ pound daughter cannot safely ride in the front passenger seat. We believe we have a defective vehicle, one that is not safe for 13 and 14 year olds under 100 pounds to ride in the front passenger seat.
Customer wants to know if the life threatening error with the driver's side air bag that was discovered during a crash test affects her honda fit that she just recently purchased. **ccthe error was discovered for all honda fit's that were manufactured before november 2006.
My son was involved in an auto accident in his 2007 honda fit sport.he hit a truck stopped in the street while trying to avoid the truck.the impact occurred on the left driver's side of the honda fit.the drivers side of the fit was heavily damaged & the car was a total loss. My son had a serious head injury and was unconscious and was flown by life flight to a trauma center where he was hospitalized with a serious brain injury.none of the car's airbags deployed.had theside curtainairbagon the driver's side deployed, his injury would have been greatly reduced.before the accident, the car was in excellent condition with 38,000 miles on it.the insurance company placed the salvage value at $1,100. Why didn't the airbags work in such a serious accident?i have photos available.
Power steering failed as leaving work.starting car has been a recent issue since the starter is having problems but the power steering failing the only solution has to been to restart the car.in this case not possible since i could not get the car to restart.

Water is leaking and causing rust in the cavity where the spare tire sits. According to online research, this is common in the 2007-2008 honda fit. The water runs down along the inside panels and pools in the spare tire cavity. This has caused the spare tire and jack to become completely corroded and rusted. Water then spills from that cavity to the foot space of the back seat. The carpet becomes water logged. The seats, when folded down, become wet. The supports for the seats are rusted.
When i went to turn my car on the key/ignition does not turn,.
Battery in my 2007 honda fitsport constantly needs replacing i have never bought any other battery but a honda certified battery and they only last about a year to a year and a half before being completely drained in some instances the battery only lasted six months i bought the car brand new in 2006 and have since had the battery replaced five times. All five times i have had a certified honda dealer replace the battery and nothing else could be found wrong with it when checked at the dealership
Power steering suddenly shuts off - the event has happened on several occasions over the past 3 years: twice while driving - serious safety risk as car becomes extremely difficult to steer without warning; and three times when starting the car - no power steering immediately upon start. During all events, the eps light came on. During all events, shutting the car of then turning it back on remedied the situation, but this is very hazardous while driving.
Recall 13-090 was not fixed properly on 1/18/2014. The plastic cover that covers the master power window switch still is loose and can allow water to get to and short circut the master power window switch. Never fixed properly or replaced but dealership closed it out while doing an oil change. Took back to dealer whose says they will not fix even though it has to do with the same part that created the need for the recall since it was closed out on my profile they will not replace it
When driving my 2007 honda fit the headlights and interior lights flicker between high and low. I've checked the fuse box and the fuses are good.
Turned on the car to see "d" blinking and service light appear. Attempted to drive the vehicle down my driveway and around neighborhood; there was significant shuttering when in motion (switching dears, reversing, and in drive). Had the vehicle towed to honda dealership since it felt unsafe to drive. Damage (gnawed engine harness on 2 connectors) occurred seemingly overnight. According to dealership rodents chewing through soy-based wiring was the cause. Without the repair i felt that the car was unsafe to drive and a hazard.
Honda has recognized a problem with the headlight wiring harness/switch corroding or melting causing the head lights to turn off intermittently or not come on at all. They have sent a recall for certain vins for this model year, but not for all 2007-2008 fits. This issue has occurred with my vehicle at only 75,000 miles while driving at night. Honda is aware of this problem but is not remedying the situation on all 2007-2008 fits, only specific vins. This is a dangerous practice, driving with no headlights is extremely dangerous at night. I have contacted honda but they will not fix the issue because they claim the vehicle is out of warranty. These vins should be covered by the same recall for the other 2007-08 vins.
While going 65mph on the freeway the power steering gave out and the little light icon on the dash turned on. Luckily, because i was going so fast i didn't need to turn the steering wheel much in order to get the car to move off to an exit. When the power steering gives out the wheel is almost impossible to turn. After that it would happen intermittently. Sometimes i would turn on the car and immediately the icon would light up and there would be no power steering. Then i would shut the car off and on again and then it would work again. Then i finally got stuck somewhere and had to be towed to the dealer. They had to replace the power steering computer? it cost $600+5 hours of labor. Now, almost a year later, it happens again. Now they are saying that it is the motor connected to the power steering? anyhow, super dangerous to be able to lose steering capabilities at any time.
My car is suffering from exactly the same headlight switch problem described under recall #10v624000, but my vin number is not on the list.
My honda was in a 2010 recall for door panel wiring failure.a heat shield was installed.this year the door panel melted a little over a months time.honda had me bring in my car, said they would take pictures and consult with honda engineers.their conclusion:must have been vandalism by cigarette lighter or something strange as the heat shield was fine and there is no wiring in the door that operates windows, locks or speakers (where the melts are). If i purchase a new door panel for $250.00 they will do the labor for free.they say there are no other complaints, ever. Not one person who has seen the panel believes it.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. While driving at 60 mph, she noticed that the headlights would not illuminate.the dealer stated that the combination switch and the attaching wire harness was overheated and had burned. The dealer replaced the wires at the contact's expense. The failure mileage was 81,551 and the current mileage was 82,500.updated 09/15/10. *ljthe headlamps and tail lamps were inoperative. The dealer stated the wiring harness connector failed. Updated 09/16/10
My check engine light came on this sunday morning when i driving over 60 mph with a/cand radio on my car jerks, i have already had a major transmission repair that cost over $500 and the car continues to misfire i was told the car was fine by the dealer rusty wallis. I have a service history book of everytime i have ever had any type of service my car has ever had since i purchased it. I do everything that the dealer tells me i'm informed im supposed to do for the care of my car. I get my book stamped with the seal from rusty wallis every time i get service, even just an oil change. My high beams turn on whenever i use the signal lights. I just replaced my battery and now my a/c will not work. I'm taking my car into rusty to have the latest recall the airbags fixed this saturday. I have spent thousands of dollars on my car and all work on my car has been at the place i bought it rusty wallis.they have always been good with me, but i really think something is wrong with the engines and fuel/ electrical systems in the fits 2007. I just don't want to keep spending money on a problem that will never be fixed. I'm afraid that my car is going to stop while i'm on the freeway for an issue i have already paid to have fixed. I have had major tune ups, brakes, transmission and gaskets engine stuff done every time i was informed my car needed it, but the issue is not resolved. I would prefer an impartial entity review the situation and give me the findings, because i feel like i'm spending money and the issues still persist. I have paid for most things on my credit card for a track record of the years. My car is only 9 yrs old.rusty wallis has been good with me, i think the defects are factory made from honda.i would like to know is this stuff just happening my car or are others having these issues too.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that the key failed to unlock the front driver's door. The contact mentioned that the key was able to be used on the front passenger side door in order to enter the vehicle. The contact called muller honda at 847-831-4200. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
I have a 2007 honda fit. A few days ago, it became dark while driving and i turned on the headlights but the low beams and fog lights would not come on. The high beams did function. I drove home with the high beams on (pissed off a few other drivers who flashed their high beams at me. I tried low beams again without success. I searched the internet and found some honda fit forums where others have had the same issue. Several people had investigated the headlight switch and found burning of the metal posts inside the headlight switch plug. I took mine apart and found the same problem. I have, for now, fixed mine with the application of silicone grease to the contacts but don't know how long this fix will last. I'm very concerned that the headlights might go out some time while driving in the dark and cause me to lose control of the vehicle. Given that a number of other people have posted on the internet that they have had the same problem, i think its worth looking at a possible recall. As an electrical plug, its not a wear part; should last much longer than the 63,700 miles i have on my vehicle. Thanks
Problem has occurred multiple time over the past 2+ years: situation 1: while driving, without warning, total loss of power steering, steering warning light and other lights on dash light up: situation goes away by turning off the car and re-starting it. Situation 2: starting the car, car starts, power steering and other lights remain on, no power steering. Situation goes away by turning off car and re-starting. Situation 1 potentially deadly - happened to my wife while driving, very difficult for her to make a necessary turn on winding road.
I drove the car for about 40 minutes on the highway, left it in the parking lot of a restaurant while at a bridal shower for about 2 1/4 hours.because the day was hot i lowered the driver's window to let air in, then drove the car out of the parking lot and immediately onto the highway on-ramp.once on the highway i raised the window again.very shortly thereafter i smelled a "hot" or burning smell, noticed thick smoke coming out between the window buttons on the driver's door.i pulled over, turned off the car, got out and called for help.within a couple of minutes flames were coming from the driver's door.i could see the plastic on the door melting and dripping.police and fire personnel arrived, extinguished the fire and towed the car.although i tried to stay away from the smoke i did end up inhaling some of it and experienced mild chest pain and coughing for the rest of the night.
2007 honda fit sporti bought 2 of these cars at the same time. I have noticed after about 25k miles that on both cars the left side of the car has an electrical short that causes one of the lights in the headlight that blinks when you use the auto clicker to lock and unlock the car to go out until you push the light. Honda looked at one of the cars and said so sorry don't know why it did that but it works now. Now about 4 months later my other car that honda hasn't looked at is doing the same thing.
2007 honda fit headlight recall, they fixed the issue in 2011 but it has happened againand one honda dealership said there's nothing more they can do???? is there something that can be done tohave it fixed again as part of the recall.it doesn't seem it was fixed right
I was taking a ride through the mountains and had parked and when i tried to start the car the ignition switch wouldn't turn like it was locked, i was by my self, and it started raining and my window was down ,i couldn't get ahold of anyone who could come help me so i had to figure out how to start the car a different waywhich i had to use whatever i had handy ,,well it took a whole day and more for me to finally get it started, when i did i start smelling burning ,i was freaking out ,when i noticed it was coming from my window switch, i started trying to get the fire to stop and i shut off the car. So i had to take off the panel to get the part off so i could get off the mountain. I didn't know that that was an already known recallor i would have gotten it fixed sooner, i didn't learn about it until i received an urgent notice in the mail about airbag inflator . So i am here at the pye honda in dalton ga.
2007 honda fit sport, 33,000 mileshorn blows on its own. It has happened 3 times commencing feb 1, 2016. Sometimes it is brief and other times it last a few seconds.
Low beam headlights quit working forcing my teenage daughter to drive home with high beams.cost to diagnose by dealer $106.now have to pay an estimated additional $315 to repair.cannot get part aftermarket and dealer has to order.i just read that this may be a common problem and wanted to add my experience.
Gm - 2007 honda fit sport a/t with 48,000 miles.first noticed electrical burn smell.then the next day noticed smoke in addition of electrical & plastic burning smell coming from the opening of the headlight switch.same night turned on the headlights and could hear a frying noise from the around the headlight switch.like everybody else who had this problem the next day on my way to the honda dealer the headlights stopped working (fogs too), only the position/brake lights and high beams were working.first diagnosis was that the electrical system short fried both headlights at the same time then after 3 hours later the honda technician found a melted wire connector and wire harness attached to the headlight switch.$400 of repairs with parts.dealer had harness in stock because the harness is the same that was being fixed by the recall for the civic for the same problem.
My headlights and fog lights suddenly stopped working in my '07 honda fit sport.i had a honda dealership inspect it, and they determined that the problem was not with the bulbs or with the fuses for these lights.the hi-beams and turning signals still work for the car, but i do not have regular headlights for driving at night which could definitely present a dangerous situation for me and others on the road.

Recurring engine misfire causing, rattling, slowing down, panel light out, engine shut off.
Was in an accident after recall in which the front end was crushed completely and none of the airbags opened recently took car in for recall prior and complained about other concerns with car at dealership
The vehicle would stall when comes to a complete stop - this has happened at numerous occasion.a lot of other same vehicle owners have confirmed this as well (this started at around 45k miles).also, the engine would give a vibrating noise now when the car is started.all oil changes and maintenance were done according to the user manual but these issue still arise from normal light driving condition.
Honda fit sport :engine warning light stays on for weeks then turns off unexpectedly then back on again since about august 2014. I completed the 120,000 mile recommended service at the honda dealershipnear where i was at the time but the engine light came back on then off again intermittently regardless of the service.not sure if it is related to the engine surge i am worried about now (march 2015)accompanied by my paddle shifters not working while in d mode. I experienced this when accelerating at 20mph and again at 35mph my engine had high rpms the engine sounded like it surged and made a thud as though the engine would fall out of my car. I was really nervous to continue driving in stop and go traffic as each time i accelerated it happened again at 20 mph. At my destination for two hours i then drove home with some hills and winding roads and put my car in s mode to see if paddle shifters would work or reset in some manner, which it did start working. The surging ceased to happen in s mode so i decided to shift into d mode to see if paddle shifters would work properly and they did as i continued to drive home forty minutes. The orange engine light is still on and paddle shifters seem to be working in both s and d mode now wondering what to get checked out. Since i spent all that money on the major service and was told the car should work well for the next 150,000 it's now near 148,000 miles i want to know whether i can count on the paddle shifters or if they will fail me again. The engine warning light usually turns off once i get an oil change and reset it has remained on. I don't know if a diagnostic will reveal anything or if i should just get the paddle shifters checked. I use the paddle shifters a great deal while in d mode over the past eight years i have owned the car since i bought it new i am the original owner and only person driving the vehicle.
On cold mornings (<~50 f) the vehicle starts fine but has a rough idle. When stopping at a stop sign ~1/4 mile from my home the car will lose engine power and sometimes stall (once in the middle of a oncoming traffic). Once the cold engine light goes away (after a few minutes of driving) the stalling/lose of power goes away. There is no check engine light after stalling and the car produces no diagnostic codes.
2007 honda fit base with manual transmission in florida, the problem first appeared after the the vehicle reached the 30,000-35,000 mile mark and continues to this day. When the ambient temperature is less than 75 degrees f and the engine has not reached normal operating temperature the engine will stall every time the clutch pedal is depressed, this behavior continues until the vehicle reaches normal operating temperature.my vehicle has been to several honda dealerships over the past 2 years to diagnose the problem but they were unable to determine the cause as no diagnostic trouble codes are registered.it makes it difficult to safely merge with traffic as the engine stalls whenever the clutch pedal is depressed.
Went to park car in parking lot applied brake, car accelerated went over curb down hill and hit telephone poll. Tried to apply brake but car kept accelerating would not stop,
Since around 100 k miles, my car's check engine light has been flickering or staying on and then going off on its own after a cold start. Sometimes the light flickers upon driving before warm, once the gas is let up, the light either stops flickering, or continues to flicker and then remains on for a few days, then goes off on its own. Every time the car has been taken in to have the code read, it's a misfire on a specific coil. I had one coil replaced, and this fixed the problem (or not, because soon after, the weather warmed and this problem does not occur in warmer weather). This problem has occurred for at least the last 3 winters, maybe 4. I just had all 4 coil packs and all spark plugs replaced. This fixed the problem for about a week, and the cel flickered and eventually remained on. This is common problem with this model of fit, and it seems that not even honda dealerships can remedy the issue. The car now has approximately 150 k miles, and there are absolutely no other major issues. Routine maintenance has been kept up on the vehicle, and my mechanic has checked for hose leaks, etc. He suggested using a fuel injector cleaner, which also helped the issue very temporarily. The only problem that has been remedied with the spark/coil pack replacement is that the car no longer stutters during highway driving (at 50-70 mph, the car seemed as though it was about to stall - this problem was remedied by using spark plugs with a shorter distance on the diode, there has been no difference after the coil pack replacement, and the last time the codes were read, all coils were randomly putting out misfire codes).
My engine coils were misfiring and the car shuddered. I had the coil that was misfiring replaced, however now a second coil is misfiring.
October 30, 2015 10:30am.i was in the parking lot and need to back my up about 100 feet. I put my foot on the brake, started the vehicle, i put the car in reverse, removed my foot from the brake, did not put my foot on the gas pedal, the car began to move in reverse, i had my foot on the brake with light pressure to slow the vehicle speed, after a few second the engine unexpectedly revved and accelerated, i pressed on the brake firmly, engine continued to rev, i placed shift into neutral, the engine continued to rev, i pressed on the gas pedalquickly released it, the rpm fell to normal operating idle.a about two week earlier i was driving at about 40mph instraight direction on a 4 lane divided city street under dry conditions and the engine accelerated. I was startled and instinctively pressed the brake hard. Realizing this was not going to slow the problem i shifted to neutral. The rpm fell to normal operating idle. I do not remember if i pressed the accelerator when the vehicle was in neutral. I finished my drive of about 2 miles to my home.i am the original owner. The vehicle has been driven 33,000 miles. I have not contacted the manufacturer or the dealer as of this writing.
Motor mounts bust causing shaking alot of reports on youtube. Airbag passenger turns off at times no apparent reason. Sometimes with bag in seat or nothing at all. Motor mounts are bad in these cars won't last 100 thousand miles bolts break if it doesn't get fixed automatically.antioch brake system slides when slammed on breaks in no rain
This car stalls if driven in cold weather when engine is still cold. When shifted into neutral (manual transmission), say, approaching a traffic light, the engine shuts off, generally when car is still in motion. This has happened at speeds ranging near stopped to 45 mph. It has been happening for about a year, mostly in colder weather. Stalling does not create an error in the computer log, so it looks like it's not happening when taken in for repair.

Repeated engine misfires causing vehicle to die unexpectedly. Since late 2013 (approx. 75,000 miles), the engine functions erratically and all cylinders have on various occasions registered engine misfires, resulting in the vehicle dying unexpectedly - once nearly leading to an accident when it died as i pulled out into traffic.i have tried - unsuccessfully, using two different mechanics over nearly three years - to resolve the problem, but it persists, despite swapping engine coils in and out, adjusting the idle, and other proposed (but unsuccessful) solutions.sometimes the "check engine" light comes on, at least giving me some warning, but often it does not. The problem mainly happens when the car is first turned on after sitting for a while, but it is unpredictable: occasionally this problem happens in traffic, after it has been driven for a while.because the problem continues, and endangers my safety, i went online to seek help, and uncovered many other honda fit owners plagued by this same issue, who had logged their complaints at www.fitfreak.net, so i know this is not a fluke; it's a common problem with the honda fit.i'm attaching invoices documenting the attempts to fix the vehicle. Sometimes, swapping the coils fixes the problem for a few days, but it always comes back. The widespread nature of this problem leads me to think something is fundamentally wrong with the fit engine, and that honda should recall the vehicle to repair the issue. Unexpectedly losing power, and coming to a halt in traffic, is scary. If i could afford to buy a different vehicle, i would.please investigate!note: to the question "when did this happen?" i entered the approx. Date the problem began... But it has happened at least 4 times per week, since december 2013 (for 2.5 years!)
Accelerated out of an intersection, from a stop at a stop sign, car lost power, steering...coasted across intersection to a stop. Called for a tow. While waiting, attempted to start car-it started. Drove home and had it towed to dealer, examined for several days, could not find a problem to fix.same problem just occurred while car was in motion driving at approximately 30 miles per hour. Car suddenly lost steering/power. Got car to side of road. Again, it restarted on its own after a few minutes.weather conditions cold and dry.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who stated that the spark plug was loose. The mechanic tightened the spark plug, but the engine light illuminated again six months later. The contact brought the vehicle back to the dealer and the mechanic stated that the spark plug had completely fallen out of its normal hole and that a heli-coil would need to be installed. The vehicle was repaired again. Two months later, while driving 55 mph, the contact heard a loud bang and noticed smoke around the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the mechanic again. The mechanic could not re repair the spark plug and stated that a new cylinder head was needed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 84,000.
The spark plug came out of the cylinder head while driving along a city road at lower mileage (20 - 30 mph). The spark plug ripped out the threads on the cylinder head, damaged the coil package, and caused the check engine light to come one.i smelled fumes in the passenger cabin and became dizzy while pulling over to stop.smoke started coming from under the hood from the coil package being melted.the spark plug was lost while pulling over.
Recurring engine misfire causing, rattling, slowing down, panel light out, engine shut off.
At around 30,000 miles the vehicle started stalling when cold. We would start the car and before you could switch from park to drive the engine would stall. It has been getting worse ever since. We now have 100,000 miles on the car and now the car will stall when pulling from a stop which leaves us dangerously exposed in intersections on a regular basis. It seems like a simple problem of the car idling at too low of an rpm when cold, however honda insists there is no problem.we had taken it to honda a few times while still under warranty. Honda insists there is nothing wrong because no engine codes are coming up. We have replaced all spark plugs and all ignition coils and that did not fix the problem. Honda even had the car hooked up to the computer while it stalled and still insists there is nothing wrong with the car. The car is no longer under warranty so we will be taking it to an independent mechanic to see if the problem can be properly diagnosed.
In the morning, i turn the car on and put the car into gear and begin to move.when i come to my first stop the car stalls out.this happens every morning.once i start the car back up it runs fine and does not stall out.i have searched many blogs and see that many people are having this issue.i would like a recall to be made for this since it seems to be a common problem on honda fit models 07/08.i have an appointment to have this looked at this week, however from my research it seems that people have had little luck with the dealerships.http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-trix-general-discussions/62360-fit-keeps-stalling-out.htmlplease contact me and help me with guidance on how to proceed. The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated the vehicle had a blown head gasket which caused the engine light to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the problem as a blown head gasket and cylinder head and repaired it at the owners expense for $3000. Within the first few minutes of driving, the engine stalls when slowing down or coming to a stop.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact was driving 20 mph when the vehicle misfired and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 131,000.kmj
Brakes when out, serpentine belt badly cracked, and leaking coolant.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle momentarily stalled and restarted on its own. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure had since recurred on an intermittent basis. At 6:00 pm last friday, i drove my 2007 honda fit over a low-lying parking barrier left out in the middle of a parking lot.upon hitting the barrier, my engine rpms went out of control and the car would not stop in spite of the fact that i had my foot jammed on the brake.to avoid crashing head on into a concrete wall, i turned and hit a parked car.my own car did not stop until it was high-sided on another, properly placed, parking barrier.the car has been towed and i am not aware if the defect has been identified or repaired.
We replaced the spark plugs & air filter on our 2007 honda fit about a month ago and right after replacing these items the check engine light came on so we had a mechanic pull the code & he stated that one of the spark plugs was loose so it was tighten & the light went off.now the light is back on so we took it to the honda dealership & was informed that we need to replace the catalytic converter & that it is not covered on our warranty.we don't understand how a catalytic converter could have already gone bad.honda is wanting us to pay them over $1,300 to replace it.... We believe this to be a rip off and need some answers!!! we are still making monthly payments on this vehicle & now they want us to spend that kind of money on a repair that is not our fault.i am seriously considering take the vehicle back to the dealership & telling them to keep it!
Vehicle was fine when new. After approximately 45,000 miles the vehicle began stalling after a cold start up. Vehicle would start fine but then stall after a stop as at an intersection. This would occur on any cold engine start-up. The normal pattern would be you would come to a stop at an intersection and the engine would be idling fine. However, when you stepped on the accelerator and the vehicle would just start to move into the intersection and the engine would stall leaving you dangerouslystranded in traffic. After the stall the engine would restart. This has not resulted in an accident yet but there have been some close calls. Car seems dangerous to drive in traffic until it is warmed up.no check engine light ever occurred. Problem was reported to a honda dealer who told us "fits have no drivablity problems." dealer service people drove car, but only when it was "warmed up" and could not find a problem. As there were no trouble codes they said there was no problem. Stalling continues and worsens with time.i have called american honda to request help with this but it is not resolved. I have read of many other owners of 2007 fits having the exact same issue but few seem to know what to do to fix it.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit sport. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost power, sputtered, hesitated, and performed as if a cylinder was misfiring.when the rpms exceed 3,000, the contact must slow the vehicle down so that it will drive normally.the vehicle has been at the dealer for one day.they performed a diagnostic, but found no failures.the vehicle is in the same condition and the contact does not feel safe driving.in addition, the coil packs need to be repaired, which he assumed to be the cause of the failure.the spark plus have already been replaced.the coil packs are on backorder and no one has the parts available.the hesitation of the vehicle has been occurring for approximately one year.the failure mileage was 45,000 and current mileage was 112,000.
Rock damage to condensercaused ac failure due to aluminum grade condenser and lack of adequate protection.aluminum condenser can be crushed by finger force, clearly not designed to hold up to road projectiles, such as pebbles or small rocks impacting at interstate speeds.first repair on vehicle less than 1 year old and under 14k miles.no protection offered to prevent from occurring again.out $700 to repair condenser.modifications to protect condenser will void warranty.multiple complaints on honda vehicles for exact same issue.no guarantee that this will be the last time, and most likely will not be the last time because the condenser is so flimsy that this is bound to happen again.not covered under honda warranty as it's considered road hazard.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated inaugust of 2009 that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where she was informed the condenser failed and freon was leaking. A few months later the air conditioner failed to operate and the contact was again informed that the condenser failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was unavailable.
The low beams and fog lights suddenly went. I pulled up to a gas station and turned off the car. When i went started the engine and turned went to turn the lights back on nothing happened. They haven't worked since. The high-beams are unaffected. Bulbs and fuses were tested but both were fine.
Low-beam headlights stopped working, high beam headlights still work. Bulbs and fuses replaced with no effect.
Driving home in the evening, the low beam headlights on my 2007 honda fit sport suddenly failed for no apparent reason giving me no forward vision on a very dark highway while traveling at 60 mph. In order to get my car home i found i had high beams only therefore no choice but to use them to get home which was blinding oncoming traffic as they continuously flashed me. I had researched the problem online and found that this was a very common issue on my model and year and that an investigation was put in motion. I brought this information in the form of printouts to my local honda dealer when i brought my car to be repaired. My honda dealer charged me an $80 "diagnostic fee" to troubleshoot the problem and told me that the wiring in a harness to the low beam switch had failed due to "corrosion and melting wire from overheating" they responded that it would be necessary to rewire the harness connector and replace the switch to fix the problem, an almost $300 dollar repair. When i confronted them about the obvious problem or design flaw in the vehicle they responded that there was nothing they could do about it and required the full price of the work. At the time of bringing the vehicle to the dealer, a thursday, their "wiring tech was not available and parts were not available that day and to bring the car back on the following tuesday forcing me to drive at night with the potentially dangerous practice of using my high beams only as i have no other car and my job requires me to drive home at night often.
I was driving alone on rte. 528 approx 11:30pm, and had been driving at 70mph for 30 minutes, when a tow truck appeared on the side of an unlit hwy.i turned on my left turn signal to change lanes and stay away from the tow truck which was located on the shoulder.as i changed lanes, i noticed that for a second or two my headlights went completely out and then turned back on.i continued on my way but approximately ten minutes later my headlights went out again and this time they stayed out.i was immediately thrust into total darkness.i could not see anything.i did not know if i was on the road or not.as i slowed down and braked, i could not even see where the road was or where the shoulder was to pull off on.total blackness with zero visibility.i thought i might be killed right there as i could see nothing and there were no street lights.near panic, i jiggled the turn signal lever and the headlights snapped back on.i proceeded home, a five minute more drive, with no further incident.i recall that approx. Five months ago my tail lights went out and a fuse was replaced at the dealership.the repair person suggested that i may have been hit by lightening.this time, i went to the dealership and the service person was able to reproduce the headlight failure through testing.a new switch was ordered but it appears that the switch may have also caused the tail lights to go out rather than lightening.the dealer says that no other cases such as mine have been documented, as yet.i reported the issue to honda and a case number was recorded. I am documenting this incident because i truly believe that, if it is a faulty headlight switch, then others should be notified as i easily could have been killed as i was immediately plunged into total darkness on a completely deserted pitch black road.
It seems to be the same as the recall problem#10v624000, however, my vin isn't listed on recall info site.my low beams are not working but the high beams still function. I noticfed it when i tried to turn them on at night. I don't know what might have caused it other than a defect.
My car is suffering from exactly the same headlight switch problem described under recall #10v624000, but my vin number is not on the list.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that the front passenger side low beam headlight malfunctioned. The bulb had been replaced numerous times and the failure recurred. The contact received a recall notice for the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 10v624000 (exterior lighting:headlights:high/low beam dimmer switch ) and the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the current lowbeam failure. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 92,000.
2007 honda fit headlight recall, they fixed the issue in 2011 but it has happened againand one honda dealership said there's nothing more they can do???? is there something that can be done tohave it fixed again as part of the recall.it doesn't seem it was fixed right
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that the headlights on the vehicle shut off. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the wires on the wiring harness were melting. The manufacturer told the contact that the mileage was outside of the warranty and would not cover the wiring harness. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileages were 80000.
2007 honda fit external low beam headlights suddenly stopped working.this could have led to an accident and is extremely unsafe.after researching seems the culprit is a melted wiring harness.dealer claims there is no current recall for this issue.updated 11/03/10 updated ivoq 11/04/10
The both of the low beam headlight and the fog light failed to light up without warning at night around 8:30pm. There was a recall related to this issue recently and i had already brought the car in to dealer to have them perform the recall remedy prior to this incident. So i brought the car back into the dealer and was told the headlight switch was shorted out and needed to be replaced. The dealer told it was not recall related and i had to pay out of pocket to fix the issue.having headlight failure suddenly at night is a very serious safety issue that needs to be taken seriously. I feel that the recall procedure performed did not rectify this serious safety issue.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
Low beam headlights and foglights stopped working at the same time. High beam headlights still work. Replacing bulbs did not help. All fuses are fine. Dealer tells me to replace headlight switch and possibly wiring. Vehicle only has 59,000 miles.
When i am driving with my high beams on and turn them to low beam they go out and it takes different lengths of times for them to come back on. I had the same issue 2 years ago and the dealership said they fixed it. It worked fine until the other night driving home on a country road which was extremely scary.i took it back and they said they checked it but it wasn't from the recall. I know nothing about cars but i'm having a hard time understanding why the same exact problem is from something else.
Headlight failure occurring frequently.i have had to change my headlights 6 times in the past 3 years.i have taken it to honda and they just replace the bulb without looking for the actual problem.usually it is the driver's side light bulb, but i have had the passenger one go out as well.
The low beam lights stopped working all of a sudden while driving at night.if my son hadn't figured out to flip on the high beams, he would have gotten in an accident.it looks like the wiring harness to the switch is bad.all of the fuses are fine.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the high beam head lamps failed to function. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. While driving 30 mph at night, the low beam headlights shut off without warning. The contact had to use the high beam headlights for visibility. The contact later took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who stated that the headlight defect may be related to nhtsa campaign number: 10v624000 (exterior lighting). The vin was not included in a recall, despite the vehicle experiencing the same failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.
2007 honda fit.consumer writes in regards to vehicle headlights repair issues.the consumer stated she recently learned the recall was not performed properly.the provided photos that showed a damaged wire and a burnt receiver that the wire was plugged into and it was also missing a part that was never put in.
Tl-the driver owns a 2007 honda fit.the driver was driving at an unknown speed when the headlights shut off.the high beams were operable but the low beams would not turn back on.the vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed and was not repaired.the failure and current mileages were 80,000.the vin unavailable.sm.
Headlights do not work on low beam...high beam only.had a mechanic work on it,but did not fix it.there was a recall on 2007 honda fits because of poor wiring rubbing against metal and lights don't work.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. While the vehicle was stationary, the headlights stopped working. The vehicle was taken to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,000. The vin was not available.
This is exactly what happened to my 2007 honda sport fit..while driving at night the headlights aim too low causing limited visibility. While driving the lights seem to move up and down..its crazy..i read another complaints from 08/03/06 which stated the exact same thing.i will have to bring it in but a previous complaint stated they lifted the beam but it still did it.
When driving my 2007 honda fit the headlights and interior lights flicker between high and low. I've checked the fuse box and the fuses are good.
Definitely there is a problem with the low beam and fog lights in this car. Just entered to internet to find if someone like me, withoutadditional incidents, suddenly my low beam and fog lights stopped working, and found numerous cases with the same problem.
Up to now, this car never exhibited a problem with low beam failure.the car was brought to the dealer for the recall correction for high/low beam switch when the recall was announced.on thursday night, march 15, 2012 low beams failed to come on after repeated attempts.used high beams to drive home.brought vehicle in to dealer friday morning.they could not replicate the failure, checked systems, found nothing malfunctioning.while driving saturday night, low beams initially worked during steady use for an hour.after entering a dark road, i switched to high beams, and when i went to switch back to low beams for oncoming car, they failed.used high beams to drive last 8 miles home.using high beams is not as hazardous as no lights, but i was blinding oncoming vehicles, and they in turn would switch to high beams and blind me.
Driving to work early morning i had the headlights on and all the sudden it was dark, people were flashing their lights at me. I had to pull over. The high beams would come on but the low beam and fog lights wouldn't. They finally turned on after a while. They have turned off by their self a few times now. There needs to be a recall. I did the recall that was a couple years ago about headlights but i don't think that was the fix for it if its happening to others too.
Low and high beam headlights intermittently stopped working while driving on the highway at night. The headlights would turn off but the blue high beam symbol on the dashboard would light up at the time of failure, even though we had not switched to the high beams. At one point the high beam symbol faded so it looked like it was halfway on, then went off completely and the headlights worked again. About 20 minutes later, the high beam symbol lit up again and the headlights stopped working for the remainder of our drive. This was after driving on the highway for about two hours. Fog lights, running lights, brake lights, and tail lights still worked throughout this issue.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact was driving 25 mph when he noticed that the high beams would flicker on and off independently. The contact stated he received a recall noticed the very same day the failure occurred (nhtsa campaign id number: 10v624000, -exterior lighting:headlights:high/low beam dimmer) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs. After the recall repairs was performed, the contact stated that when he engaged the accelerator, the high beam lights would illuminate and the low beams would shut off. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they advised him that they would need to perform a diagnostic at a cost of $98.00. He then called the manufacturer but they provided no assistance. The vehicle was not further repaired. The contact stated he can only drive the vehicle during the day because of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,800 and the current approximate mileage was 42,600.

Was driving my honda fit 2007 last night when my low beams suddenly went out. I had only my high beams and had to drive home with people flashing their high beams at me. I went to the auto parts store to get new fuses to see if this would help the problem and i replaced them but the fuses were fine. Went onto the computer to research this problem and found numerous incidents where this has happened to 2007 honda fits. This is a very dangerous and expensive situation if i have to pay upwards of 300.00 to repair?
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that the low beam headlights stopped working and only the high beams were working. The dealer stated that the wiring harness and the headlight switch needed to be replaced. The contact had not spoken with manufacturer at the time of the complaint. Thanks
I was driving home one night when my lowbeams went out.i pulled over and tried many things with no luck. My high beams still worked so i drove home using those.i checked the fuses and the bulbs, all were fine.when i took it to honda they found the headlight switch was messed up.they are replacing the headlight switch.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. While driving approximately 65 mph, the headlights failed to illuminate. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,125.
There are three separate but recurring incidents.first the tail lights and part of the interior lights blew out.the dealer said i was probably hit by lightening and replaced the tail light bulbs and a fuse.next the headlights went out while i was driving and i was plunged into total darkness.the dealer said it was a switch.two weeks after replacing the switch the taillights have blown out again.the interior lights go out at the same time.this is a frightening and dangerous situation and i will go to the dealer again today but do not think the techs there know what to do.
Lowbeams failed at the same time without warning. Only highbeams are available for nighttime driving.
Both low beam headlights quit at the same time.fog lights and high beams still worked.car has been to dealer since the headlight recall for other issues (door switch recall), but not sure if the dealer performed the headlight recall.
Low beams on my honda fit suddenly stopped working, only high beams work.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the headlights turned off suddenly and she had to use the highbeams to see. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The manufacturer had not been notified. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
The low-beam lights on my honda fit 2007 are not working properly. At times they will work but more often then not, the lights will not work. The high-beam lights always work but the low-beams do not. I looked online for a recall using my vin but there was nothing for this problem. After doing research online i realized that many 2007 honda fits have been recalled for this exact problem but for some reason my car was not. It apparently has to do with the wiring/connector for the headlight. If this is a problem that 143,083 honda fits in the us were recalled, why was my car not? here is a link to an article about the recall http://money.cnn.com/2010/12/16/autos/honda_recall/thank you
I was following behind a new 2007 honda accord with the new led brake lights at night. When the driver stepped on the brakes and leds are so bright that it gave me instant eye strain pain in my eyes. I also could not see around the vehicle or to the sides. Those leds are way too bright and are blinding at night. I have talked to other people who have noticed the same thing. Even during the day, they are annoying at best.

Vehicle in motion on street. Left front axle broke. Lost power, clunking noise. Required tow and replacement of axle.
Power steering failed as leaving work.starting car has been a recent issue since the starter is having problems but the power steering failing the only solution has to been to restart the car.in this case not possible since i could not get the car to restart.
Right half shaft failed due to salty winter road water entering the area between the shaft damper and the shaft, gradually corroding the shaft until there was no longer enough sound metal left to transmit torque to the wheel. The shaft failed while leaving a stoplight; if it had failed at highway speed, it likely would have been disastrous. From what i can find on a honda fit forum, this seems to be a fairly frequent failure mode for both fits and civics. I have three other photos of the failed half shaft, but they are a bit too large to upload. I also retained the failed part.

My husband was backing up our honda fit in the driveway. He put the car in reverse and while he was backing up it made a terrible grinding sound. He put his foot on the brake and then put the car into drive. Before he even moved his foot over to the accelerator pedal, the car accelerated so fast that it left skid marks on the driveway. He put his foot back on the brake and the car didn't stop. He put the emergency brake on and the car didn't stop. The car crashed through our fence at which point he put the car into park and it came to a screeching halt.

I am the owner of model year 2007 honda fit.this year, when the car reached around 76,000 miles the clutch began to fail to fully disengage with the pedal fully depressed. Eventually the problem was isolated to the mechanical clutch assembly(as opposed to the hydraulic system). After disassembly it was discovered that all of the ?diaphragm springs? on the clutch pressure plate were bent, some more severely than others. My technician noted that he had never seen this sort of thing happen before. In order for the pressure plate diaphragm springs to have bent, one of two things must have occurred: 1. The diaphragm springs were damaged during assembly. If this is the case, then the damage would have been apparent when the car was new, not some 76,000 miles later. Identification numbers on the clutch (m41l 11 23/50) should prove that this clutch was the original and had not been replaced. 2. The diaphragm springs of the clutch lost their spring tension. This to me seems to be the only plausible explanation. This could be due to defects in the steel itself or improper heat-treating. I believe that a series of brinell hardness tests at various depths would prove that the clutch diaphragm springs are too soft and that this condition that ultimately caused the clutch to fail.
While accelerating in light traffic on a 2-lane road, clutch failed and i could not engage gears to drive.had towed to mechanic, who researched the internet and learned this is not an uncommon failure in honda fits.the tabs or teeth on the pressure plate of the clutch were warped or bent causing it not to engage.mechanic stated that this was caused by poor engineering design.under different traffic conditions, this loss of control of the vehicle's acceleration could have resulted in serious consequences to me and others.because my mechanic's research showed that this type of clutch failure occurs too often for such newer cars, i believe your agency should require honda to - at the very least- warn others who have purchased fits with standard transmissions and re-design the part to avoid its failure.ideally, they should be required to replace the poorly designed part at their expense.

Oem cv axles have deteriorated and broken while in motion on a busy city street! causing the car to lose all (forward & reverse) driving capabilities, which in turn created a dangerous situation for all parties on the road. A broken cv axle also adds an increased risk for transmission damage.

The left cv axel snapped and was replaced, a week later the same issue, and now the power is no longer distributing correctly, seems to be caused by the way the axels are exposed to the enviorment and continuously snap, there was no excessive driving on the vehicle, it only travels a 10 mile radius in the city and i ve put easily $3000 into it in the last 3 months

1.on 8/18/2016, the left front axle metal snapped in two (not at the joint) while i was driving on route 8 in bellevue ky.the mechanic said this was a manufacturing defect.2.on 6/1/2017, the right front axle snapped in two (not at the joint) while i was driving on the expressway in the middle lane at >55 miles per hour in heavy traffic.the mechanic said this was a similar manufacturing defect and that i'm lucky to be alive!i have receipts from both repairs and a picture of the axle from the first failure, attached to this complaint.
Pulling out of a business's driveway onto a highway, half way acrossthe highway the car starts to loose forward motion and engine rev's increases dramatically. Step on gas and car will not accelerate. Check to see the car is in drive.roll across the highway and coast into a parking lot. Look under car and see front axle on drivers side has snapped. It snapped at the point where the axle meets the damper. Took car to dealer and he confirmed front driver side axle is broken. This happened when there was no traffic on the highway. Serious accident could have occurred if highway was busy as car was in the lane i was crossing over of two lane highway when axle broken and was only going about 5-10mph at that point. Had the highway not been on a hill or had i been trying to go in the uphill direction would not have had enough speed to avoid oncoming traffic.
I was pulling out of a parking lot onto a major intersection, and the right drive shaft of my 2007 honda fit broke. I was accelerating at a low speed to pull out into the intersection. I had to have my car towed off to a repair shop, which was closed for the day since it was after 5pm when this happened. This was a major inconvenience, and thankfully i could get a ride home and a rental the next day. The other drive shaft was just as bad, and the total repair cost was around $600.
In february 2020, i was stopped at a stoplight and when the light turned green and i went to accelerate i heard cracking/ breaking sound and the car would not move forward or backward. I needed to have the car towed and was informed that the driver side axle had broken. In january 2021, nearly the exact same thing happened. I was stopped at a stoplight when the light turned green i went to accelerate i heard the same sound and the car would not move. I had the car towed i was informed that the passenger side axle had broken. The mechanic describe this axle as rusted around one area of the axel, whatwould normally be about the diameter of a quarter it was a small as the diameter of a pencil.
Had to have the passenger side axle replaced. I was having the oil change and it was pointed out to me the axle under the vibration damper was severely rusted. Rust was so bad as to have caused the vibration damper to split in several places. You could "dig" a screw driver into the rust. Person recommended having the axle replaced as soon as possible. Brought the car to a repair shop and mechanic confirmed axle was severely rusted. Car has 154000 miles on odometer.
Continuing problem with 2007 honda fit automatic transmission hesitation to down shift at 2-5 mph, such as rolling stops at yield signs.when you step down on accelerator transmission seems to get confused and does not allow acceleration at all for 2-3 seconds.it isokayif completely stopped, but not from a rolling stop.this is very dangerous, and has almost causedan accidentseveral times.the honda dealer acknowledged that this wasa defect, but honda technicalsupport saidthe fit modelsall do it, and therewas nothing that could be done about it.
After a right turn, i attempted to return up to speed by depressing the accelerator pedal and the power train/ transmission failed to engage, i.e, the engine raced and the car coasted forward with speed declining. The transmission/power train resumed normal function after approx.5 to 6 seconds. Vehicle behind me heeded my warning blinkers and a collision was avoided due to his/her alertness.

Without warning, seat forward/back mechanism failed. Locking driver's seat in position closest to steering wheel.examined mechanism under seat and discovered cable connected to seat lever had frayed to single wire.seat could not be moved from position.honda service technician stated he had never seen this problem; because cable was integral part of bottom seat frame, it was necessary to replace entire frame at cost of approximately 530 dollars.because dealer did not stock frame it was necessary to drive car with approximately five inches space between steering wheel and driver's chest.when i contacted honda's customer service representative, i was informed "honda does not consider this type of failure to be a safety issue" and, because the care was out of warranty, was not responsible for the cost of repair.i then pointed out the fit's owner manual contains the following caution "see pages 11-13 for important safety information and warnings about how to properly position the seat and seat backs".the pages include the following warning: "if you sit too close to the steering wheel or dashboard, you can be seriously injured by an inflating front airbag, or striking the steering wheel or dashboard".the representative repeated that honda did not consider this to be a safety matter.it should be noted that the passenger-side seat mechanism (which is used with approximately the same frequency as the driver's side) showed virtually no sign of wear.there is no mention in the owner's manual of a need to check under the seat for cable wear; nor is such inspection included in the dealer's service inspection checklist.because of the sudden nature of the failure and the warnings contained in the owner's manual, it would appear this in fact is definitely a safety issue.
My friends 2007 honda fit driver seat is broken, it is stuck in the position where my chest is about 5 inches from the steering wheel.looking under my seat i found a 10 inch cable is frayed and broken, not allowing the seat to slide forward or backward.searching on google, i see this is a notorious issue with my year honda fit.the part number is;manufacturer:hondapart number:81673-sln-a01part:cable, l walk-in controlit's a 15$ part, trying to order it from honda they say the cable is integrated with the seat pan, and the seat pan cost is roughly 300$.honda motor company says there is no campaign for this issue.so i wanted to address you of my safety concern.is there even a procedure for them to inspect the seat cables of a seat pan?if i was traveling and had to slide my seat up or back and the cable breaks without warning, which is what happened.i would naturally drive however way i can to get to my desired destination.if i was involved in a wreck and i already can barely get my knees under the steering wheel getting out, what would happen to incase of an emergency. I hope you can see where i'm coming from and investigate this notorious issue with this year make and model.
The contact has a 2007 honda fit.every three to four months, the contact has to replace the air in the tires at least three to four times within the month.the failure occurs intermittently in each tire.she also stated that the driver's seat position causes severe muscle pain in her right foot.she has changed the position of the seat, but the failure remains.the dealer and manufacturer have not yet been notified.the current mileage was 1,160 and failure mileage was 1,100.
Purchase a 2007 honda fit on 3/15/08 with 3,300 miles on it.after driving it 150 miles in 3 days now have sharp pain in my right foot as the angle my foot takes to depress the accelerator is stressful.i now have pain just walking around.many people on fit forums also have pain from driving this car.
Water is leaking and causing rust in the cavity where the spare tire sits.
This car is leaking horrendously. I have to vacuum the flooring of this car several times a week to prevent mold from growing on the walls, flooring and seats of the vehicle. No after market work has been done and we have now had to remove all carpet and padding to prevent further mold infestation. This is an all too common and dangerous complaint for this vehicle (and this year specifically for this model). Honda refuses to address the issue and it is endangering the health of everyone who rides in my car on a daily basis. Please help - this has devalued my 5 year old car and made it a complete lemon!
I just wanted to report that the front seats in my car were designed so poorly that after driving over 3 hours on a trip this week in it my lower back became sore.and even after 3 days later it is still sore.i've owned plenty of cars in my lifetime and never have i run across seating that has ever left me sore in them.i'm sorry if this complaint doesn't belong here but when i filed a complaint over here http://www.hondaproblems.com/trends/uncomfortable-seats/ that site suggested i file a complaint about these poorly designed seats here too.in fact i've noticed plenty of other people who have complained about these seats too on the internet.
The first time i noticed a problem was in feb. 2014 when i entered my vehicle there was frost on the inside of my windshield. Since then i have been having frost or moisture on the inside of my windows when i enter my vehicle in the morning. I have had to vacuum the back floor on both sides after every rain storm. Mould is forming on the carpeting and the back seats. My main concern is my 5 & 7 year old grandkids who i have to transport to and from school. Honda doesn't seem to want to address this problem. There doesn't seam to be a fix for this problem when i have check various web sites. I ran a test this morning by running water from a garden hose over the top of my honda. I could see water running from the underside of both rear doors into the rear floors.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit.while buckling his grandchild into the back seat, the contact realized that the seat bench in the rear was raised.he believes this is a safety defect because if the vehicle were rear-ended, the seat would jump and cause the booster seat and child to be uprooted.he took the vehicle to the dealer and they compared it to three other new models, which were manufactured in the same manner.the dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure.the vin, engine size, and number of cylinders were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 11,000.
I was positioning my car outside my office for loading.i backed in, then put the car in 'd(rive)' to inch forward a bit. Before i could step on the gas, the car accelerated and with engine racing headed toward a high curb beyond which stood a large, mature tree.i slammed on the brakes but to no avail; the pedal went limply to the floor without affect.at the same time i shifted into n(eutral), again without affect.i grabbed for the hand brake but it was too late.the car jumped the high curb and ploughed into the tree.knowing that my foot had not slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator pedal, i checked the nhtsa website and was shocked to see numerous similar stories about the honda fit covering a decade!my fear is that honda will not take this product defect seriously until someone is killed!
After cold start the abs and brake warning lights were lit on dashboard.they went away after pressing the brake pedal twice. The lights were off during the driving and brakes worked normally. Subsequent starting was unremarkable.there were no leaks or poor quality fluid in the system. Can be a first sign of abs unit failure (bad pump motor).
Went to park car in parking lot applied brake, car accelerated went over curb down hill and hit telephone poll. Tried to apply brake but car kept accelerating would not stop,
I drove into my driveway to park in our car port.as i approached the car port the car suddenly accelerated.
Approximately 10% of the time my 2007 honda fit is first started, the power brakes do not function and it is very difficult to stop the car.within 30 seconds of starting the vehicle, the brakes seem to work normally.
After coming to a stop, when start to accelerate, vehicle stalls.then has hard time starting back up.has caused several close calls with almost being t-boned as the car stalled after trying to complete a left hand turn from a complete stop.
Brakes when out, serpentine belt badly cracked, and leaking coolant.
Loss of power steering. It was parked the first time it happened, in 2011. It didn't happen again for a couple years. Now it has happened several times in the last 24 hours, on 06/10/2014. Mostly while parked/idle. Once while in traffic. I live in the mountains on a windy road. This is very dangerous! honda should issue a recall. I have read about their service bulletin on the issue (replacing eps control unit.)
Without warning, the electric power steering (eps) light lit on my dashboard and my power steering locked up completely. I had no ability to turn into a parking lot to safely leave the road. To solve the problem i had to turn my vehicle off at a stop light and restart the engine. I have a 2007 honda fit and luckily, the part is under warranty. However, i've been told by the dealer to continue driving my vehicle while the problem hasn't been fixed. I feel this is a very unsafe performance problem and a recall is in order.
We are having consistent problems with rubbing and squealing noises with right turns. It is very concerning as the rubbing has to be damaging the steering system in some way. Something is definitely going wrong here. It needs to be investigated.
About three weeks ago, while my wife was driving to work, shortly after leaving our home, the steering wheel became extremely rough and started to shake the car violently through a turn and the eps malfunction indicator came on.she turned the car off and back on again and the issue remedied itself and the eps light turned off.this past weekend, as i was driving the car, the same issue presented itself.this time, however, the unexpected loss of power steering caused me to veer into opposing traffic.luckily, other drivers in the opposing lane were able to respond quickly and avert an accident.i researched this issue online, including on popular honda-specific forums, which i am a member of, such as honda-tech.com and fitfreak.net, as well as general auto forums such as on edmunds.com.it became apparent that this is a common issue among owners of honda fits, with some owners stating that this occurs 1-2 times a month.upon further research, i found honda technical service bulletin 09-043, stating symptoms of 'the steering feels heavier than normal,' a euphemism for the power steering failing'a very dangerous occurrence, which i am disappointed that honda did not issue a full safety recall for, and which we had to find out the hard/dangerous way that this is an issue with our vehicle.
Power steering repeatedly disengages while driving causing power steering failure.this happens approximately 1 out of 25 times the vehicles is driven.when steering fails, it is nearly impossible to control the vehicle.
Around june 30, 2011, shortly after starting the car, the power steering caution light came on, and the power steering failed leaving the car with no steering capabilities.after turning the car off and then back on, the power steering returned to its normal operation.this same thing happened again around july 4, 2011, on july 19, 2011, july 22, 2011, and july 25, 2011, all shortly after starting the car.the car was diagnosed by appletree honda and they reported that the electronic powering steering unit was defective and needed to be replaced at a cost of nearly $900.00 at our expense due to the expired warranty.they based this diagnosed partially on a honda service bulletin #09-043.when the powering steering fails, all vehicle operations remain active, the car is impossible to steer, thus causing a safety hazard not only to the passengers of the fit, but also to other motorists on the road.after contacting honda, they said there was nothing they could do except replace it at our cost.
Electronic power steering has failed numerous times during the life of the vehicle. Failure occurred twice during driving and caused near misses of other cars. Failure mostly occurs at startup, making it difficult to impossible to drive car. It tends to occur when the temperature is closer to freezing but it has occurred in the summer. Technical service bulletin 09-043 has been discussed on several forums. This is a common problem discussed in numerous forums and is a defect in the manufacturing of the 2007 honda fits. A recall is requested as it posses a significant risk to human life and limb, particularly when failure occurs during driving.
Power-assisted steering failed approximately 5 minutes into driving.warning light for steering did illuminate on the dash console.after turning off vehicle and restarting, the power-assisted steering resumed normal operation.
The power steering system acts up and causes you to loose power steering while you're driving making the steering of the car super stiff at a moments notice. According to forums online this, problem is very common amongst honda fit owners and most peoples' issue is caused by a faulty electronic power steering control unit. My issue is the same faulty component.
Power steering suddenly froze up in the middle of aleftturn.steering warning light came on , but i was nearly hit by a car that assumed i would be able to turn faster.steering seemed to reset after turning the car off then on again, but did notice some sluggishness with acceleration after restarting.this is a really dangerous problem and i notice other published reports of this, so i think this warrants an investigation and a recall!
Power steering failed while driving. Restarting the engine restored the power steering.
The steering wheel locks and lock light is on when the car is running. I turn the engine off and restart the car and it then clears it. I have looked online at other peoples blogs and have come across a few other complaints about this. It hasn't caused an accident but i am concerned about it.
Was in the left turn lane to enter freeway on-ramp. Once signal turned green, it was extremely difficult to turn the steering wheel.the power steering warning light appeared on the dashboard.was somehow able to make it back home.turned off the ignition per car manual, restart car and trouble cleared (no more warning lite, steering ok).did some research on web, found out that honda has issued service bulletin 09-043 to correct this defect (ie. Replace eps control module).went to independent honda repair shop, no trouble codes found on their scope (clears out after restart).called honda cust service (800-999-1009), but was told that since it's out of the 3 year warranty period, and nothing they can do.i just took my car to the honda dealer to have the eps module replaced ($700 + labor), since i do not want to risk driving knowing that the steering can go out at any moment.i'm hoping that nhtsa can put pressure on honda to issue a recall as this problem can be life threatening, especially if the eps went out on a curve or mountain road. Once again, when the eps unit goes out, it is extremely hard to steer!!!
The electronic power steering on the car failed and the dashboard indicator light came on. There is no way to tell when it will fail, but it is a sudden and complete failure resulting in a hard to control car. Honda does have a service bulletin on this issue (tsb 90-043).
Upon restarting the car after a rest stop the steering wheel was noted to be upside down.it could be turned 360 or more degrees when the car was not moving.the steering worked when the car was moving, but at a stop it may be turned freely again.
When i went to turn my car on the key/ignition does not turn,.
I purchased my 2007 honda fit approximately one year ago at 49,000 miles.my eps indicator came on less than one week after purchase; it is possible that this was an issue prior to the purchase of my car.on page 62 of my owners manual it says to restart the engine and the issue should go away so that is what i did.it only recommended to have it checked if the light didn't go away when restarted.the issue happened several times over the past year but always went away after restarting the engine.it seems to happen more during cold weather.i had it checked by a local mechanic and he could find nothing wrong with it.after it started happening with increased frequency, and persisted after multiple restarts (although if i came back hours later it would be fine) i decided to take it to the dealer where it was diagnosed with "eps control unit internal failure, eps control unit needs replaced" not covered under warranty and it costs $800 to replace.this is a frightening safety issue because the wheel is virtually impossible to turn when this indicator is on.i have been very fortunate in that it has never come on while i am driving although from my research on this issue i have learned there are others that have not been as lucky as i have in this regard.it is also frightening that this is not an issue that is easily diagnosed my mechanics outside the dealership.for honda owners like myself that live an hour away from the closest dealer; we are likely to take it somewhere closer first; where we are told there's nothing wrong with our car, although there is a potentially life-threatening issue wrong with the car.
Eps powersteering system on vehicle failed during cold start of vehicle. During a cold start the vehicle starts up normally until you turn the wheel. The eps turns off and a powersteering light turns on. Turning the vehicle off then back on again resets the system. This problem occurs at least once a week. Eps can be replaced by dealership but costs about $1000 total.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that in cold weather when turning the vehicle on, the electrical power steering warning light would illuminate on the instrumental panel. While driving at various speeds, the power steering wouldfail when making a turn causing it to be difficult to manuever. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that there was a tsb related to the failure and they are aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000. The vin was unavailable.
Power steering fails intermittantly and can be eliminated temporarily by restarting the car. Service bulletin 09-043 delineates this problem and honda dealers want in the vicinity of $1000 for the fix. As this is a severe safety problem, i am reporting it now.
I started my 2007 honda fit sport model to pull out of a parallel parking spot.when i backed up and turned the steering wheel, the steering locked and i was unable to turn the tires.i could however move the car forward and backward.i turned off the engine, got out and inspected the car.nothing appeared amiss.when i restarted the vehicle, it worked normally.i contacted my honda dealer and was told they probably wouldn't be able to diagnose the problem without being able to recreate it.however, after the car was in the shop, they advised that one of their mechanics remembered a technical service bulletin -tsb 09-043 - that referred to the problem.the eps control unit would need to be replaced.since i have read that this problem can also occur while the car is moving, i strongly believe this should be a recall item instead of merely a tsb! in my case, i was lucky that one of honda's employees just happened to remember it.i was also advised by the honda service employees that it was an "intermittent" problem and the car was safe to drive.how can a car be safe to drive when the steering locks up?
Power steering suddenly shuts off - the event has happened on several occasions over the past 3 years: twice while driving - serious safety risk as car becomes extremely difficult to steer without warning; and three times when starting the car - no power steering immediately upon start. During all events, the eps light came on. During all events, shutting the car of then turning it back on remedied the situation, but this is very hazardous while driving.
Driving my 2007 honda fit the power steering stopped working. The car was very difficult to steer. Had to pull off the road shut down the engine and wait about 5 minutes before starting car. When car was started power steering returned. I contacted honda of america and was told that they did not receive any other complaints about this problem. I have made an appointment with a honda dealer to have this problem checked.
2007 honda fit lost power steering without warning ! while driving!!! i have 80,000km on it ! lucky to be alive! very lucky! lets take this seriously!
Over the years i have experienced my power steering fail and is happening more often the older the car gets.what happens each and every time is within the first 5-10 minutes of driving in the morning and usually on a damp and cool day is the power steering will stop working and a indicator light will come up on my dashboard.the first time it happened i did what the manual said and pulled over, turned the car off for about a minute and restarted it.it was fine after that and only happened about twice the first year.when i told the dealership that said they have never heard of this problem before and said to do what the manual said.after telling them this happens several times a year they were never concern or checked error messages from the electrical module.i've brought this to their attention several times without any acknowledgement to the sitiuation.since that first year it is gradually get worse.i started keeping track in a calendar when ever this occurs.one month it happened three times and two of those times were two days in a row.luckily it's only failed on the highway once which was a very scary experience! so far within the last year this has happened nine times.
Power steering failed. Steering was heavy while driving.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit sport. The contact stated that she started the vehicle, the power steering suddenly failed. The contact tried to move the vehicle but the steering wheel would not turn. The contact turned the vehicle off and restarted it; the power steering reset itself. The manufacturer had not been notified. The failure mileage was 45,000.
A few times over the past several months, the steering lightup on the column but we were able to turn the car off and back on again with the issue resolved.however, this time we were driving across the country and the light turned on and never turned off again.power steering was completely gone.it was difficult to turn the wheel and drive the car at all.
I've had this issue numerous times over the past few years.when the ambient temperature is below approximately 45 degrees f, the electronic power steering module relay makes a strange clicking buzzing sound immediately after the engine starts.the power steering warning indicator light stays illuminated on the dash and the steering wheel is very stiff and difficult to move.the condition can be remedied by turning the key to the off position, waiting a few seconds and trying again, although this cycle may have to be repeated a dozen times before the power steering comes back on.driving the vehicle without the electronic power steering active is dangerous as it's obvious the system was designed to be highly assisted.you could find yourself in a situation where you are stranded by this issue.apparently it's a common one, so much so that honda has issued a service bulletin for it which calls for replacing the eps module at a cost of $700+.luckily i haven't had it fail while driving but i'm afraid it could as it has for others.it's obvious with the frequency of this issue that there was a manufacturing defect in the eps module which should warrant a recall.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. While starting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the steering wheel was very stiff and difficult to turn. The contact turned the vehicle off and restarted it; after the restart, the vehicle functioned properly. The failure occurred intermittently for the past two years and was worse in cold weather. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000 and the current mileage was approximately 90,000.
Stopped at red light power steering light came on steering went stiff. 2nd incident.
While driving, the steering on the car becomes heavier than normal unexpectedly.the steering light comes on and goes off.turning the car off and and on allows the car to be operated normally, but the condition can return.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. While driving 40 mph, the power steering indicator illuminated and the power steering failed. As a result, the steering wheel steered on its own into oncoming traffic. The contact turned the ignition on and off and was able to drive the vehicle. The dealer (ralph honda, 3939 w ridge rd, rochester, ny 14626) reset the control module. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or reparied. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.
My wife was driving on a main street at 35 mph. The power steering went out. An indicator light came onthe dash board after the steering quit. She was able to get the car home with out the power steering. We found a forum on line where we found the problem addressed. Once we re-started the car the power steering worked. The people on the forum have complained that it will happen again. I am concerned about the safety of my wife and children. If it goes out whenever what will happen the next time?
2007 honda sports fit.power steering failed a few times already without notice since i bought it last weekend. Power steering did not lock up and was just fine during test drive.a few days ago, warning sign came on. Stopped the car and restarted again a few times and warning sign went away and i was able to drive off. This is a safety issue and honda should recall this asap.
Lost of power steering on 2007/2008 honda fit.normally on very cold days when the car is cold.in the morning on first startup or after the car has been parked for long time.the powering steering does not work.usually can turn the car off and restart to fix the problem.but sometimes have to do this several times.twice it has quit while i was actually driving both times were with in the first 5 miles of driving from home and work, lost of power steering.problem has happened many times over several years but is intermittent to when it happens.normally happens about 1-3 times a week during the winter season of about 3 months.honda does have a service bulletin about the problem now #09-043. Problem seem to be the eps unit, part number 39980-sln-a21.i seriously consider this a safety problem as you all of a sudden can lost your steering ability while driving.the problem is not normal and i think honda should recall this car to fix this problem.i just read that the gm cars and acura cars have a similar power steering problem and gm is recalling their cars to fix it.this thread documents other people that have the same exact problem i have.http://townhall.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f1346c0/33.
Every morning when the temperature is below 40 degrees i have no power steering making it very difficult to drive the car. It is a 2007 honda fit.
My eps unit on my honda fit has failed at random, various points in vehicle operation.while my own experience has been a total of 5 times in 3 years, the cause for concern can be verified through www.fitfreak.net where more than a handful of posters have experienced their units locking up during vehicle operation, thereby "locking" the steering wheel in position until the vehicle is restarted.my unit last locked up in december during the cold weather here in florida.after cranking the car and driving to work, which is 3 miles from home, i took the turn to go onto the road to work.while during the turn, my steering wheel instrument light came on, which signaled to me that i was screwed.because i am aware that this could occur, i slammed my car into neutral, turned off/on my car, and was able to regain control of my steering wheel.if my wife had been driving or if i was not aware of this possibly occurring, i have no doubt that a serious accident could have occurred.as it was, i barely missed the car beside me as well as not running off the road.all the posters that i have seen on fitfreak.net have shown that honda does not see this issue as being a defect and is actually charging people to fix what is a serious issue.my car is out of warranty and has been for 13,000 miles.this has happened to me once when starting the car after it not being run for 3 days, it has occurred when i have been driving and it's been cold weather.i have had it happen during a regular summer day in louisiana while it was raining.and it has even happened just starting my car in the driveway with the eps unit not releasing the steering wheel.in light of the issues of toyota, please consider this an issue requiring attention.
I was driving and without warning the power steering failed. At the same time the power steering warning light lit up on the dashboard. Luckily i was able to maneuver to safety into a parking lot. I shut off and restarted the engine and the power steering functioned normally. Someone with less arm strength may not have been able to maneuver to safety. This problem has reoccurred twice since then.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that when turning the vehicle on the power steering light would illuminate and then it would shut off. The failure also occurred when the vehicle was idle which made it hard to turn the steering wheel. The vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer for the identical failure; however, they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 35000. The current mileage was 56000.
I started the car and noticed the power steering light was on. I tried to turn the wheel and it was very difficult to turn. I turned off the car, looked under the hood and then read online that i should try restarting the car. I restarted the car and the power steering light was still on. I turned off the car and turned it back on again and the light went off. Steering was normal and i drove to work. I am afraid this may fail again while driving and i have seen that this is a common problem on internet websites.
I was driving down a city road going 45 mph driving straight and my steering wheel jerked out from both hands and swerved me, my wife, and our infant daughter into the oncoming lane. The power steering then went out and i was able to regain control of the car. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic.we stopped at a gas station. Upon restarting the car, the power steering came back on. We have had the power steering fail on us before, but it had never jerked the wheel out of my hands like it did this time. In another instance, we were driving 65 mph on the highway (driving straight), and the eps gave out first one one side, and then the other, pulling hard on one side, but not pulling the wheel from my hands. I took my honda fit to a local dealer. There is a service bulletin and a warranty extension for this issue. I have a rebuilt title on my car and the warranty doesn't cover my issue. This should be a factory recall.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that while in reverse, the power steering failed with the illumination of the power steering warning light. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was awaiting diagnosis. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 75,000.
The electric power steering doesn't work.
I have a 2007 honda fit sport. The steering light in the dash came on and i lost powering steering and had to drive my car home in snowy hazardous conditions. It was very difficult to maneuver my car home i was afraid i was going to have an accident. I drove very slow and cautious but i got home safely. I got home and told my husband and son to look at my car. I turned the car off and when they turned it back on, the steering light turned off and i had power steering again. The next day i started my car and the light was on again and i turned the ignition off and turned it back on and the light went away and power steering came back. I was fortunate this time i didn't have to drive it without power steering. We did some research and found that honda bulletin 09-043 and found multiple people have had this problem. The bulletin said that all 2007 fits were effected and that it is the eps (electronic power steering) unit. I am afraid that i will be driving on the highway and this may happen again and this may cause an accident. I am afraid to drive my car and i think honda should have a voluntary recall on this part as it is very expensive. I was quoted by the dealer for the part only was $734.00 not including labor. I believe this is a high priority safety issue and should be acted upon immediately by the nhtsa.
I experienced a safety issue with my honda fit vehicle (i have a 2007 non-sport model, automatic) on march 26. After stopping at an intersection, i made a right hand turn and the steering wheel seemed to lock into place. The car continued turning to the right, nearly hitting the curb. I managed to force the steering wheel to the left and straightened the car. I then realized what had happened: one of the keys on my key chain had been sticking out and got stuck in a small orifice that is located on the back side of the steering wheel, near where it meets the steering column. The orifice is just big enough to fit a finger inside. (there is an orifice on both the left and right sides of the wheel.) i reported this to both the honda "800" customer service number and to my local honda dealer in princeton, nj.
Power steering warning light came on immediately after car was started, and steering wheel was very difficult to turn. Car was impossible to drive for even a short distance. Turned car off and back on 15 minutes later and problem was gone.problem, has not returned since. Weather was 60 degrees, had rained earlier in the day, high humidity.i am concerned that this may represent a safety issue, but am unclear what action to take: 1) immediate dealer repair, -or- 2) wait and see if the problem returns.i want a statement from honda corp explaining to owners what to do in various cases and clearly stating when it is safety issue and when it is not.example: 1 occurrence... Do this. Multiple occurrences... Do this. Specifically, when is it safe, and when has it not safe to continue driving the car ?
Power steering went out. Car was extremely hard to turn. Turned the car off and restarted it and the steering work. This is an extremely dangerous problem. Please issue a recall.
Once in august 2013 i was making a right turn and power steering went out.then again this time in april 2014 power steering went out again while driving, this time i was going around 45 mph. Both times, when you turn car off and start again powersteering works fine.
Power steering locked up and failed.i could not turn steering wheel.i had to stop car, turn off engine and restart twice before power steering functioned again.some one is going to get killed with this problem and a recall is in order!!!
Power steering failed as leaving work.starting car has been a recent issue since the starter is having problems but the power steering failing the only solution has to been to restart the car.in this case not possible since i could not get the car to restart.
2007 honda fit lost power steering without warning, becoming very hard to steer.dealer reports code #61-04.there is a july 2009 service bulletin on this problem suggesting replacement of the eps control unit, which has been done.an internet search suggests this problem is common--there should be a recall, as serious accidents could occur as a result of sudden loss of power steering.
As i was driving up a hill, on a curve, at about 40mph, the power steering locked. I was so close to getting in a multi-vehicle car accident. Usually this eps problem happens first thing, right when i start the car in the morning every once in a while and according to the owner's manual, when this problem happens, we are supposed to turn the car off and turn it back on. Obviously, honda acknowledges there is a problem with the eps, except this time, it happened while i was driving. I don't feel safe driving the car. This problem could lead to accidents, including fatalities. They should have a recall on this part instead of just doing a service bulletin. Gm has a similar problem, if not the same, and they care enough about their clients to do a recall and fix the problem, rather then just provide a service bulletin. Honda should do the same for the safety of their clients.
While driving my car across a busy intersection, i was wanting to turn left and in doing so, the power steering went out of the car and i headed right into oncoming traffic. I was unable to re-attain power steering and had to get my car pushed into a parking lot. This is the third time i have lost power steering (first time while driving in a busy intersection). I no longer feel safe driving my car as it had the potential to be a very dangerous incident. I have read on multiple websites that this has been an issues for honda fits but there has still not been a recall issued. I know that i feel unsafe now in my own car, something i would never want anyone to feel. This needs to be issued as a recall to ensure that no injuries are sustained due to this occurring. I have taken the car to the dealership, however they are not showing any identification code that the incident occurred. Due to the fact that this has happened on multiple occasions and there is a service bulletin out, it is only right to issue a recall and ensure everyone's safety on the road.
After having purchased my fit, one morning at about 10,000 miles, i started my car a power steering indicator light came on, the orange steering wheel light on my dash.my power steering wouldn't work.i turned the car off and back on then the power steering reengaged.this happened only once and i thought it was just from being cold.as i continued driving the vehicle it started happening more and more frequently, usually when the car was cold in the morning and not very often in the summer.i had my dealership look at it and give me an estimate on the charges since it was now out of warranty.the cost was very expensive and since it was intermittent i thought i would wait until it failed completely.honda refused to cover the issue, eventhough i was told this was a very rare incident and shouldn't be happening.i am submitting this review because i understand it is not so uncommon on this vehicle and for some it occurs while driving.i will now have the issue fixed because it would be very dangerous for the power steering to disengage while driving.i hope this issue is considered important because honda should be responsible to fix this failure weather in or out of warranty.there is obviously a defect in the part and due to the possible potential for fatalities if this should fail while driving a recall should be considered.thank you for your time and consideration.
Power steering failed to engage when starting from a cold start and attempting to drive out of a parking lot. Indicator panel light came on. Turned car off, then started again and power steering engaged without incident. This same scenario occurred a few more times over the following months, however, much more frequent these last 2 months, nov./dec. 2013. Has not happened while traveling on the road thankfully. Car becomes very hard to steer. Informed honda service center 12/17/13 of problem during routine oil change, they performed diagnostic ($75) and recommended replacing theelectric power steering control unit (eps) for $958. Investigated online posts and found many others have been dealing with this issue as well. Since this is a known condition by honda (service bulletin # 09-043) and is a potential and deadly safety issue, i feel it warrants investigation and subsequent recall action.
1. Power steering did not turn on when car is started and power steering fails when car is in motion.2. Occurs approximately 1x month; the failure results in loss of control of the steering; steering becomes impossible to maneuver around corners at low speeds and very difficult to steer at speeds of 40 - 50 mph.3. Power steering unit was replaced by the dealership.
On multiple occasions electric power steering assist would fail on start up, particularly after some overnight rain. Without the steering assist this car becomes difficult and dangerous to handle. Restarting the engine has corrected this intermittent problem so far, but it poses a considerable danger, especially if the steering assist were to cut out during high speed driving.
Was in an accident after recall in which the front end was crushed completely and none of the airbags opened recently took car in for recall prior and complained about other concerns with car at dealership
Eps failure: last month, after a gas station stop; i started the car, to see the electric power steering (eps) indicator lit. Finding the power steering not working, i checked the manual. Turning the car off & on as recommended reset the indicator and unlocked the power steering. The problem has occurred several more times since then. Last week the problem happened three times, and persisted until i drove a short distance. I'm worried about failure in traffic, during a turn, etc. Reading online, i found many drivers reporting this trouble with both older and newer fits, low and high mileage; sometimes happening while driving. The trouble can occur at highway speeds, a dangerous situation. The issue is detailed in honda service bulletin 09-043, july 7, 2009.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the power steering failed. The contact stated that the driver had to use more effort in order to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the electric power steering needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
Power steering went out while driving. Was fine after restart, but this is dangerous. Dealer only reset computer. This problem is all over the nhtsa site, and the car needs to be recalled!
Electric power steering failed while driving.could barely move the steering wheel.i found out that honda has a tsb out on this known problem (tsb # 09-043).it involves an expensive replacement of the eps module. If the vehicle is out of warranty, you're out of luck. I believe there should be a recall, as this is a very serious safety issue.
Steering wheel suddenly seized up, range of motion about 10 degrees either way; ps warning light appeared on dash. Was able to slow, turn off road, park, consult manual. Restarted engine, ps warning light went off; was able to drive normally to dealer service dept. For advice. They said continue driving, return if any future incidents.
I started up my car (honda fit 2007) from a cold start and the power steering locked up. I restarted the car a few times after wards and still to no avail. The steering wheel was extremely hard to turn and when checking under the hood, nothing seemed to be wrong. After waiting about a half hour the car started up normally again.2 days later same issue happened. I read online about an malfunction in the eps system that alot of other honda fit 07 users were having also. I haven't repaired my car yet because my car warranty just ended a couple months ago. My only fear now is if the power steering locks up while i'm cornering or driving and forcing another car out of their lane or having an accident from this.
2007 honda fitpower steering stopped functioning on several occasions while the vehicle was being operated.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit.while attempting to make a turn after braking at a stop sign, the contact noticed that the steering wheel suddenly locked up.prior to the failure, the steering wheel would lock into place when the vehicle was started.the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.the current and failure mileages were 58,298.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. While driving 15 mph, the power steering failed. The contact pulled over, turned off the vehicle and restarted it. The power steering reset after the restart. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they could offer no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that immediately after starting the vehicle, the power steering warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileagewas unknown and the current mileage was 70,000. The vin was not available.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. While driving on a mountainous road approximately 30 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle uncontrollably traveled off the road and crashed into a fence. The vehicle then turned completely over and landed back on the wheels. The air bags deployed and the contact and front seat passenger sustained severe injuries. Both were transported to the hospital by medical evacuation. The vehicle was declared as destroyed and towed to a collision facility. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
The electric power steering on my honda fit failed to function. Fortunately, the event happened in my garage, but it was almost impossible to steer the wheels. So, i had to find other transportation to make my thanksgiving dinner. This could have been a disaster had the failure occurred on the road.
- the contact stated thatthe vehicle accelerates by itself. When he turns the steering wheel either left or right the vehicle proceeds at approximately 2-5 mph. The contact states all he has to do is turn the steering wheel slightly and the vehicle moves forward. He took the car into the dealer to have it looked at and they could not find any problems. He said they compared the vehicle to another honda civic 07 and was told that is how these cars work.the contact is concerned that when he turns the wheel and steps on the gas pedalhis speed doubles.the contact has a honda civic ex, it is not listed as an option in the menu.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The power steering warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel immediately after the vehicle was started. The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the power steering malfunctioned. The power steering light also illuminated at the time of the failure. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact stated that there was a short in the power steering system but no remedy was unavailable. The contact found a related tsb but it only applied to vehicles under 36,000 miles. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.the consumer believed the electronic steering control module was defective. Updated evoq 02/03/11.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. While attempting to reverse from a parking space, the steering wheel would not move. The contact shut off the vehicle and when restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The failure recurred within a month and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The dealer determined that the electrical steering module would need replacing. There were no prior warnings of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileage was 56,000. (1) no warnings or events leading to the failure are evident. It has happened4 times in that last 2 weeks.(2) the "power steering control unit" quits or "goes out" occasionally causing the total loss of power steering.it is not gradual, it just quits.to get power steeringback, the car must be stopped, put in park, engine turned off, wait for a few seconds, then restart the engine. So far, it has not caused an accident, but the last time it quit, i was in the middle of a turn on narrow streets at a city intersection and nearly ran up on a curb. (3) a honda dealership service center performed the honda-specified diagnostics and found an "error code" of some sort and then performed the honda-dictated procedures to remove the code. I was told by the service advisor that they do not know what caused the failure nor could they tell me that the source problem had been corrected, but only that a computer code had been removed.
There is a water leak from the rear driver's side door. The carpet iswet and water has accumulated underneath the carpet. There is strong moldy smell. This happens every time it rains.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated the rear floorboard continued to become saturated with water whenever it would rain. The manufacture was contacted and the contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer and the vehicle was not repaired. The contact was concerned with the possibility of mold growing in the vehicle. Updated 05/12/11updated 05/16/11
After a heavy rain, the floor mats in the back seats become soaked to the point where they develop mold even after the water is cleaned-up.children sit in the back seat and are exposed to unhealthy conditions.the water seams to be coming from the front door/window area and is seeping into the interior of the door to the back floorarea, mostly on the passenger side of the car. My research indicates that several other honda fit owners also have that problem.i must take it in to have it repaired because i believe it is a health hazard. But it seems to be a flaw in the original structure that should be repaired by honda.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that all four doors were rusting from the interior to the exterior. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed the failure and stated they believed that the metal was not treated properly when manufactured. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 63,000 and current mileage was 64,000.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact was examining the vehicle when he discovered that the rear passenger side seat was wet abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. The contact was unaware of where the water had accumulated from. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 48,000.
Front vehicle carpet beneath gas/brake pedals has worked loose. It is curled up and may pose a rise to braking accelerating pedals, i will contact honda about this problem. The driver's left foot tends to get caught in the carpet and there does not seem to be a simple fix for this. The plastic runners on the floorboard at the door can't be lifted to repair this because the hood release handle is incorporated into them.
After about 2 years, i noticed that my carpet in the rear seat and rear hatch area were saturated with water any time it rains (living in florida, it rains often).upon further investigation, the spare tire compartment under the rear hatch area was pooling with a significant amount of water (we're talking a quart of water after a heavy downpour, easily a gallon within a rainy week if not tended to daily).it appears that there is some kind of leak around the rear door hatch and/or rear light seals, and/or in the roof, and/or in the floor.this has led to mold and mildew growth in the vehicle's passenger compartment which represents a serious health concern, not to mention property damage to anything being transported in the vehicle.i have become aware of other honda fit owners from the 2007-08 model years that have the exact same issue.there has been nothing yet done by manufacturer to address this issue as far as i am aware of.
Finding water buildup in the front drive floorboards of my 2007 honda fit. Generally this happens after rainstorms with significant downpour and i didnt notice this because lately weather's been pretty good.now i'm finding the wet spot with mold to go along with it as well underneath the foam piece underneath the carpet.others have helped me trace it to my door seals and there is much mold growth underneath, so even before i discovered this it must have happened before but in lesser degree.i feel as this should not be a warranty only fix by honda and that the door seals and carpets should be replaced as a result. Growth of mold in a car which you're driving in everyday can be hazardous to anyone's health.
This spring,we noticed the floor on the drivers side was wet, visible puddles in the backseat area and water in the spare tire area.we always have the windows closed, the kids always knock snow off their boots and we have snow mats,so there is an obvious problem with this car.we easily removed a gallon out of the back area with a shamwow, but now the moldy smell is starting up and the car always has condensation inside on the windows.we got the floors fairly dry a week ago,and sat the car for a couple of days while it rained. Lo and behold, puddles again!! the dealership says "sorry, your past 3years/60000"and the extended warranty"honda plus"doesn't cover water leaks. Honda canada says go pay for an inspection at the dealership"then we'll try to help you out"this car is not yet 4 years old and it soaks up water like a sponge.i 'm not shelling out a single penny for this obvious defect.
2007 honda fit leaks water on driver's side, focused on rear passenger seat, particularly in back corner near wheel well. Occurs mainly in heavy rain and has resulted in mold growth. Local dealership (honda of middletown) has blamed leak on previous bodywork, ignoring customer's reference to numerous online complaints about the exact same leak issue nationwide in cars without bodywork. They call this an "isolated incident" and refuse to address issue without customer paying out several hundred dollars for diagnostic work.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that whenever it rained, he found water on the floor in the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership on three occasions where the vehicle had minor welding performed on different parts of the structure of the vehicle. However, the failure continued to occur. The failure and current mileages were unavailable.
I have a 2007 honda fit.there is a leak in the car, unsure if it's from the front door or rear door panels but the floors in the backseat area get soaked every time it rains.(which is daily this time of year in florida) my car has never been in an accident or had any type of repairs. Mold is forming on the carpet, the car smells horrible!i have noticed that many people have the very same issue as me.dealerships are scoffing at the problem stating that every case "is isolated" and that simply is not true.there needs to be a recall on this problem.people are having to pay for repairs themselves whether or not it's under warranty.this is not acceptable.the value of my 2007 honda fit is down the tubes!i have read that many others have filed complaints as well and some have pending law suits.it seems as if the 2007 model is a lemon!honda is not acknowledging this problem as there are already three other recalls on this car.please do something about this.we have children who have to ride in the backseat with the mold!this is affecting our health.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit.the contact stated that the structure of the vehicle was abnormally low, which caused her to frequently scrape the parts underneath the frame while driving.she took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that this was how the vehicle was intentionally designed.the failure has not been remedied.the failure mileage was 6,000 and current mileage was 20,000.
Vehicle leaks water that accumulates in the spare tire well. Dealer said the fixed it but still leaks. Honda claims unaware of any issues although multiple complaints found on-line.
Structural.my 2007 honda fit is leaking water onto the rear driver and passenger seat floor.it is causing mold which aggravates my asthma and allergies.it is also rusting the door panels, floor boards and the spare tire well.i had to throw out my floor mat, as it was molded.i believe honda should repair the leak, rust and mold.it will affect my car for years to come if all are not addressed.an initial call to the local honda dealer resulted in a "your car is no longer under warranty" comment.a call today stated that they would look at it but did not guarantee they would repair it.
2007 honda fit major issues:door seals do not keep out water which results in wet floor in the trunk and rear passenger area. The problem will eventually rust out the vehicle prematurely and is a liability and unsafe vehicle for long term use. With the wet interior comes mold and mildew that is very harmful to your health and not fit for children or adults. Honda has not acknowledged this issue.
My car has leaked for 4 years now (three years after i bought it, used, i noticed the leak). It's the driver's side front and back doors that leak. I'm pretty sure the rubber seals that are supposed to keep the doors shut are leaking, but i can't find it. I just feel misting moisture coming from somewhere when it's pouring out and i'm driving, and the carpet is soaked through when it rains. It takes days to dry out. I thought the "door panel leak" recall was going to take care of it, but i think they just sealed the components in the door against a known leak. I'm not the only one with this problem; i checked online to see if there was a recall, but all i found was other people with moldy carpets and leaking doors. I keep a towel on the floor at all times, but now my seat is wet and it smells musty in the car all the time. A roll of papertowels will get completely waterlogged in about 10 minutes on the floor at anytime. I have never, ever had a wet car like this. It's like the window is always cracked, but the windows are operating just fine. I asked the dealer about it, and they tried to sell me a $400 "find the leak" package that i couldn't afford.
Driver's door lock will not open/close/lock with key. Lock will open/close with inside electrical switch. Passenger and back door works fine.mileage is 65,000. Not every involved in an accident/ flood etc.
Water leaked into the spare tire area causing the entire backseat floor area to be saturated with water causing mold and rust.the dealer had to seam seal the upper right side of roof.rear tail light gasket had to be replaced because water was also coming in through the area.
My 2007 honda fit sport (automatic) has had a trunk leak for years. I had noticed wet carpeting behind the passenger side seat but assumed it was from wet shoes after rainfall. It turns out that this is in fact a failure in the window/door seal in the rear passenger side door. The car had begun to develop an odor which, when i checked today, has turned into mold. We can't drive the car at all because of fears of inhaling mold spores. I had checked the fitfreak.net website and it seems that this is an extremely common issue among fit owners. Why has this not been addressed? my car is worthless unless this can be fixed and the mold totally removed. It doesn't matter whether the car is moving or stationary: water will seep in from the frame, wet the carpet, and produce mold.
Rear passenger side door leaks water every time it rains. Safety concerns are mold growth on carpeting, body rust from exposure to water, seats have also gotten wet when folded down into foot area (more mold), windows fog up because of extra humidity in the vehicle (impairing visibility), and could potentially also be causing damage to the electrical system from extra humidity. Have also found water in spare tire well in back of car, but i'm not sure where this entered the car. Asked a honda dealer about this and they wanted to charge $200 just to diagnose the problem, which seems like a common issue judging by the amount of discussions in online forums.

Water leaks into rear hatch and pools into the spare tire compartment.
Car has developed cracks on the welding around both front struts mounts. This are clear signs of metal fatigue on a car that is less than 10 years old. Car has zero accident and there is no rust or signs of any other factor that may had affected the structure. This cracks are a threat to the driver's safety because the strut may perforate the body/frame of the car and hit the windshield while on the road. This cracks are very hard to find due to the location were are developed, and there are not other factors that may warn the driver about the issue. This metal fatigue cracks look exactly as the described by multiple owners on the rear of the car. The big difference, is that the cracks on the rear of the car only cause water to leak into the trunk, with is not a big safety concern. Honda stated that because the car is already out of warranty there is nothing they can do about it.
We've experienced several episodes in which the rear passenger side floor is holding an impressive amount of water after it has rained. Windows have not been left open. We have dried up the area only to find another puddle of standing water in the floor space again and again. There are no tell-tale signs of leakage on the upholstery or ceiling material but there is starting to be a mold smell because we cannot keep the water out! this is starting to ruin the flooring carpet material as well as the overall condition of the inside of our well-kept family car. We're very concerned because this could ruin the car; i've read many other complaints of exactly the same situation/conditions and i have yet to read what honda has for an answer/solution. I live in a rain-heavy area - on an island - with no honda dealership.
Water leaking into rear seat wells and spare well. Fixed 3 times by taping failed door plastic sheeting. Mold growing on carpet. Frame tested under carpet. Water now leaking into spare well as well. Mold removal needed to make car driveable. Car is a health hazard with 3 species of toxic mold present. Please recall as this problem is a common problem. New carpet needed new deals and door sheeting needed. This problem has been for going for 5 years. Dealer refused to fix under warranty.
The vehicle leaks.water accumulates in the spare tire compartment every time it rains.
After an overnight torrential rain i realized that the back seat floor of my honda fit 2007 (behind the driver seat) had a puddle of water. I mean, a big puddle. No windows was left open and the car was never damaged. I used to park in a garage over night. So of course i never had the chance to experience this until i moved because i now have to park the car outside. And of course it is over 3 years old so the warranty won't cover it. I always took good care of the car and had all the service done on time. I called the dealership and they request $150 just to run a diagnosis. How many complaints will have to be filed for honda to admit the problem???? this is just unacceptable. And after reading all the other complaint i am now also getting worried about the health of my kid because of possible mold growth! how can honda ignore this.i used to be very proud of my honda fit and loved it but i feel now that they are fooling us and if nothing is being made, honda can be sure their brand won't be in my list once the time to buy a new car comes. And i will gladly let family and friends about this so they would not buy honda as well. I know i am only one person and they probably won't care but they are endangering people's health and life and something must be done.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that water entered into the cabin of the vehicle on the rear passenger side. The contact stated that the water accumulated in the rear wheel well on the passenger, and the rear seat and carpeting was soaked. The contact stated that the failure was caused by a fracture along the weld for the rear hatch hinges. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.
After a very heavy rainstorm, we found standing water in the rear passenger side floor; the rear driver side floor was also very wet. We have taken the vehicle to our local dealership multiple times over the past 10 months. They have replaced the plastic sheeting inside the door several times and used different kinds of adhesive to attach the plastic sheeting. However, water is still leaking into the car whenever we get heavy rain (over 1 inch). The car is starting to smell moldy, because it is extremely difficult to get the carpet dry.
During the rain the spare tire compartment got flooded; this caused rust formation on the jack, growth of the mold and extreme fogging of the windows. The leak is most probably caused by the rear door to body seal failure.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that water was entering the vehicle from the rear driver side door. The leak occurred whenever there was a heavy rain. Car body seam between roof and side panels leaking profusely causing pooling water in trunk and rear passenger floor, soaking vehicle upholstery and causing considerable mold growth.
After it rains, water pools in the spare tire compartment in the hatchback.does not seem to be breaching the seal around the hatchback.suspect water is entering through tail light.this occurs with a moderate to heavy rain, or while washing the car.
Can not open drivers side door with the key. Passenger side door and ignition ok but concerned that the key will not work with the other door/trunk or ignition in the future. The failure of the key opening the drivers door presents a safety hazard in thecase of an emergency.
Standing water accumulates in the spare tire well after heavy rain.
This problem seems to have developed overnight. It has been an issue for the past four years now. My honda does not have a keyless entry, therefore, i unlock my car by just inserting my key into the door handle. However, about four years ago, i came out to unlock my car and was only able to stick my key in the door lock. The key would no longer turn. At first, this issue was only with the drivers side lock; however, it now includes both the drivers side and the passenger side locks. From what i have researched on the issue, it seems that the cylinder component of both the drivers side and the passenger side exterior door locks is to blame. In my research, i came across several forums (most of them being honda forums) in which others are having the same issue with the same 2007 base models of honda fits including the 08' fits. I did take it to a honda dealership to have them check out the issue. They did confirm that it was the cylinder that needed to be replaced. However, they stated that the cause may have been someone attempting to jam something into my car door lock in order to break in. Although that could have been a possible cause, i feel that if several others with the same model and year of honda are having this issue then it isn't something specific to my honda or that someone was merely trying to break in. It is definitely a safety issue. The only way i am able to enter my car at the moment is through the trunk. If my key stops working for that lock then i have no way to get into my car. I strongly feel that this needs to be a recall for safety as well as being able to access one's own vehicle.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that water accumulated in the rear of the vehicle due to a leak. The spare tire was completely rusted. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic to locate the leak. The mechanic could not locate the leak so the vehicle was then taken to the dealer where the dealer advised that there was no leak. The contact stated that condensation accumulated whenever there was moisture in the vehicle. The failure mileage was 120,000.
After heavy rain, water pools in the spare tire compartment of the trunk, the seeps into the carpet of the trunk and back seat, causing mold to grow.there appears to be a bad seal somewhere (hatchback, tail light, etc).this causes a serious health concern in addition to being a major nuisance.
I had water collecting in the spare tire compartment and i started to research on line discovering that this is a common issue with the 2007 fit (what i drive) a hair line crack/fissure in the weld on the back rear weld near the hatch hinge on both sides that moves up towards the roof weather striping. I was able to reseal it myself (time will tell), but this has to be a huge safety issue. Mold and mildew only could be dangerous let alone what structural damage it could be causing long term. A possible recall worry imo.
Heavy rain causes my 2007 honda fit to leak into the rear passenger floor board.the first time it happened it was under warranty and i was told that the automatic carwash was to strong.by the time i discovered the water, it had started to mold under the floor mat.it happened 4 times before i could get it corrected.by this time it was out of warranty and they did not have a record of my reporting it the first time.the fix that was done was re-sealing the door panel.

Water is leaking into trunk spare tire compartment and floor underneath rear seats, especially on the passenger side of the car.took car to dealer for repair in the morning, left for entire day and was told that they could not diagnose the source of the water leak.dealer told me i would need to bring back the car for further testing that could take a few hours and at least $300.i cannot afford to keep taking in the car for the entire day, paying a lot of money and not even have a guarantee the problem will be fixed.i have tried to seal a crack i found in the roof seam (based on information i could find online of other owners with a similar problem).if this does not fix the problem, i am not sure what i will do.honda customer service was extremely unhelpful when i called them.they told me they could not do anything until the dealer found the source of the problem, but the dealer was not able to even do that!
Significant water leak through the driver's side doors causing accumulation of mold and other irritants. As an asthmatic this car has almost been undriveable.i spend countless hours drying the carpet and leaving the windows open to air out.have not found a fungicide or odorant to cover the mold.just as soon as i dry it up, the next rain storm will drench it all over again.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that the key failed to unlock the driver side door. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Started noticing that water was getting into the back floor board of the vehicle. Upon investigation noticed considerable amounts of water under the spare tire. I have noticed the mold growing in the carpet and have cleaned this up twice. The local honda dealer (johnson city honda) says they have never heard of this problem in the past. This occurs each time the vehicle is driven in the rain. Nothing has been done by the local dealer.
My 2007 honda fit has defective door seals in at least the front two doors and the trunk leading to black mold and resulting health concerns. When the car is parked on any kind if incline and it rains, water enters the car via the defective door seals and soaks into the rear carpets causing extensive mold damage to the carpets and seals. Water also fills the rear spare tire well. This occurs every time the car is parked in the rain. I have personally experienced this with my 2007 honda fit.

I have wasted a considerable amount of money trying to remedy this issue through honda. A recall needs to be issued for this leak issue. It would be the fourth issued for this car, and two of the previous recalls are linked to water leaks or water damage. There is clearly a serious related defect in manufacturing with the first five years of this model's lifespan.

2007 honda fit leaking water into spare tire well and under passenger seat carpeting.had it in during first year of ownership - could not find it. Had it in again in 2009 - they couldn't find it. Had it in july 13th, of this year, because smell was so bad - lifted up rear passenger seat to a soaked carpet and wet spare tire well.this time they found it , attempted two fixes so far.brought in today, july 19, - will be attempting 3rd fix.am very concerned about the mold smell - they cleaned up the white mold during the first fix - so visual evidence is gone.i have severe allergies and take medications every day, year round.the dealership and mechanics say this is a defect from the factory.they have been speaking with honda engineers on how to fix - but so far unsuccessful.i bought this new, as a retirement gift to myself.cashed in an ira.i have driven hondas for over 25 yearsand have never had a problem like this.i will be contacting honda to let them know i have filed this.
My 07 honda fit is leaking water. The carpet is wet and moldy, especially under the rear seats. This causes my windows to have condensation on them and impairsmy view through the windows since they are foggy from october to march with the colder weather.. The spare tire area has water sitting in it eventhough i take the plug out to drain. The car is devalued due to the stink and those with health problems don't want to ride in it. Due to the mold. The car has started rusting where wetness pools, under the seat. And if it isn't taken care of soon, the wet inside of the door panels will not only rust prematurely but compromise my rear electrical, such as my speakers and whatever else goes through the doors. I need the leak fixed, the carpet replaced and the door panels to be drained.
The air conditioner stopped working on my 2007 honda civic. When i phoned the dealer to inquire if this would be covered by my warranty they said most likely unless a pebble bounced up and punctured a hole in the condenser. I found it odd that he was so familiar with this problem. Sure enough, a "tiny pebble" punctured a hole through my condenser. I thought this was just bad luck until i did some research and have found numerous complaints about this same exact problem happening to other honda owners. I drive under normal road conditions. What is to say this won't keep happening. It must be a design flaw. I paid $469.00 to get this fixed, not something i can keep doing. I asked the service representative if there was anything i could do to prevent this from happening. The answer no...translation for me not driving it is the only way to prevent a tiny pebble from doing this again. Help please.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit.the contact stated that the vehicle was designed too low, which caused the undercarriage to strike against the ground.as a result, the driver's side shield detached.the low design causes the undercarriage to make contact with objects in the road and high-surfaced driveways.the contact managed to avoid a few crashes.a report was filed with the manufacturer, but they have not returned the contact's phone call.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they offered to trade-in the vehicle.the contact declined because it would cost too much money.the dealer stated that nothing else could be done and referred her to the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 20,000.
Went to dealer for routine maintenance, was told compliance bushing was cracked and needs replacement.will eventually cause unevenness and pulling in suspension and tires to cup and become dangerous.online resources seem to show this as a common problem in hondas, but not in other makes.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph and going over a bump, a loud noise emitted from the rear of the vehicle as it started to shake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the compliance bushings, shocks and front links needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,221.
My 2007 honda fit has continually wore out tires on the rear of the car, wearing the outer edge after only 10,000-15,000 miles.this has been discussed multiple times with america honda, but they will not accept responsibility for the failure.based on an online forum (www.fitfreak.com) this is a recurrent issue that many owners are experiencing.
While driving 2011 honda fit in the highway a small pebble hit lower driver side of front windshield causing the windshield tocrack (crack is about 20 inches long).windshield may be too thin or defective, because under regular circumstances the windshield wouldn't crack (small pebbles usually chip the windshield),i did an internet search to find out if there were any public concerns about this issue for this particular make and model (honda fit) and i found out that many people are having the same problem.this type of issue could potentially be a safety hazard while driving, particularly if the object hitting the windshield is bigger than a pebble; causing the windshield to crack, therefore reducing visibility to the driver.
When i went to turn my car on the key/ignition does not turn,.
After rainfall, water is collecting (and not draining) in the backseat floor area (under the carpet) and also in the rear hatch, where the spare tire is located. The rubber seals on the back doors are in good condition - and there are no visible signs of water spotting on the inside of the back doors or the rear hatch area - so it's difficult to tell where the water is coming in from. I pulled the carpet up in the back seat area and have towels down to absorb the water. I also have the back seats up and have towels below them the continue to get soaked after it rains. The towels on the passenger side of the car seem to collect more water than the driver-side towels. I've read numerous reports of similar issues with 2007 and 2008 honda fits but no recall has been issued. It's a health hazard to have water and dampness inside a vehicle, where mold collects/grows. I have not taken my car to the dealer yet as most reports of people who have say they have taken their cars in numerous times with no remedy. I'm going to try to investigate where the water is coming in on my own, but from the stories i've read online this seems to be a real issue with 2007 & 2008 fits.
In december after a heavy rain, the drive side door lock became inoperable - the key could not be inserted. I took it to my honda dealer who charged me $220 to re-key the lock. On january 18, 2011 we had another heavy rain and the same thing occurred. I will be taking it back to the honda dealer to have it repaired. I will demand that this repair be free of charge. I am concerned that there is a design flaw in the locks that lets water into the lock and ruins it during a heavy rain.
Applying the foot brake to stop the vehicle, engine rpm started to increase to the point where the brake would not bring the vehicle to a stop. Vehicle proceeded into the intersection. Dealer found that the high end of the idle control was not properly trained. Dealer accomplished the training. Unknown at this time if it will solve the problem.
Went to park car in parking lot applied brake, car accelerated went over curb down hill and hit telephone poll. Tried to apply brake but car kept accelerating would not stop,
I drove into my driveway to park in our car port.as i approached the car port the car suddenly accelerated.
Recurring engine misfire causing, rattling, slowing down, panel light out, engine shut off.
The contact owns a 2007 honda fit. While driving approximately 4 mph, the vehicle accelerated on its own and crashed into a concrete wall. There were no injuries. The failure occurred twice. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was unknown. After coming to a stop, when start to accelerate, vehicle stalls.then has hard time starting back up.has caused several close calls with almost being t-boned as the car stalled after trying to complete a left hand turn from a complete stop.

The car last communication with the throttle, this is couse by a computer chip on a 2007 honda fit, mechanic told me this happened when you change the gasoline pump, this is a very dengeres problem on 2007 honda fit.

I almost got into a car accident, i knew the car had this blind spots but never knew where so dangerous. Not just traditional blind spots but even worse front and back blind spots making it difficult to make turns when intersecting another road.
The a pillar is very wide and can easily obstruct the view of 1-2 people walking across the street. I am a 4'11" driver, who drives slowly and carefully and have almost hit several pedestrians who were walking across the street as i was crossing through an intersection due to complete visual obstruction of them due to the a-pillars on both the driver's side and the passenger side. If i raise myself up using a cushion on the seat and subsequently raise the steering wheel up to allow for my legs to pass under it, then the steering wheel obstructs the view of the speedometer. I would like to see either a more adjustable seat or a change in position of the a pillar to allow for better vision for a short driver in this car. Unfortunately, i think i'll have to sell this car in order to not run the risk of hitting a pedestrian.
Car is garage stored and developed a stress fracture in the right side of the windshield when i went to drive it one day. I found that this is a common problem with this vehicle and is a safety hazard as the windshield on this car is not properly mounted, causing it to crack. This diminishes visibility, especially at night when headlights reflect off the crack and seems to have weakened the strength of the windshield.when i called honda of america they refused to help me.

Hello, i received a recall notice from honda company on driveshaft corrosion. I did follow up with it at a honda certified service , napleton , loves park il. Their answer was that my car doesnā€™t need any axles replacement. My problem is that the axels in my car are fully rusted, corrosive and this was noticed by another mechanic.i called the napleton service to check again but they refused. I called the honda company customer service and they said that there is nothing they can do.i can drive my car the way it is, no incident happen so far but i donā€™t feel safe.thank you
