On 2/10/2014, around 8:50 am est i was alone and driving to the office when my car skidded and i lost control. Due to the momentum the car had gained, it went into a free spin. Though this car is equipped with awd and abs, it still could not correct the skid and went out of control. It dashed against a tree on the pathway from the passenger side. This impact resulted in driver side air bags to deploy, however it exploded instead of inflating. This incident has resulted in injuries to my hand, neck and back.recently i have heard recalls from honda related to faulty air bags, however did not find any open recalls for my vehicle...updated 02/25/15updated 9/22/2017
The passenger" air bag is off" icon is on all the time in the upper right hand corner of the dash.stays on even if car if not turned on.only have 25,000 miles on the car and there isn't anyone sitting in the passenger seat.does not go off if someone is sitting in the passenger seat.is this a problem related to the massive airbag recall?
Passenger air bagsindicator shows off even when the seat is weighed by a person.
I was struck by a deer on the drivers front fender causing extensive damage and the passenger side airbag deployed but the drivers side airbag did not deploy.i was traveling at a speed of 55mph going straight ahead on a state highway when the deer ran into the drivers side front end.
The abs module stopped functioning for brakes and airbags. The dealership currently has the car and does not know why it malfunctioned. Their explanation is that the abs module went bad and it is not drivable because the brakes might lock and possibly set off the airbags. I am concerned this may effect other vehicles as it is a costly fix. The bill is currently $2,400 and they are unsure if that will fix the problem, or if it will cost more money to figure out the issue.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,000.
Air bag tore during deployment and deflated very fast also caused cuts on my left arm and burns on my right hand fingers. I was wearing my seat belt also which held me in place. I do have pictures of the air bag. I might note that side air bag did not deploy.
The airbag/seat belt red restraint light will not go out. The no seat belt alarm does not go off. The doors do not lock when the car starts moving. The seat belt light on the dash does not come on, etc. Brought it to the dealer yesterday and they said the whole control panel has to be replaced first before they can even fix anything! something like a $400 part! said it is not covered and they are going to contact honda about covering it! another safety issue! on a 2013 car with only 18,000 miles on it!
Takata recallthe passenger" air bag is off" icon is on all the time in the upper right hand corner of the dash. Only have 25,000 miles on the car and there isn't anyone sitting in the passenger seat. Does not go off if someone is sitting in the passenger seat. Is this a problem related to the massive airbag recall? also, the starter engagement makes a grinding noise .
I was involved in an accident in philadelphia, pa on january 18, 2015 due to ice on highways. I slid into one car and got hit by another car. My car is currentlyin a repair shop.i received a call that the car can be fixed, however i need to know how safe is the car since i received so much damage to the car and the air bags never deployed.
Takata recall
Letter from senator booker on behalf of constituent re the removal of takataairbags in 2013 honda cr-v (attn: constituent services).the consumer would like all of the air bags replaced in the vehicle.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v346000 (air bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available. Updated 10/21/16*lj
Takata recall, i want to know if my vehicle is at risk??nothing happened, i received an alert.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While parking, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed through a garage. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.
My airbag lights are on and i took it into honda. They got the light to go off but it came back on again. They said i needed to replace the airbags??? i do not understand, i have owned hondas for a long time and have never had this problem? why should i have to replace airbags when they have never been used?
Takata recall. I have not had an official recall notice for the takata airbags, but i did receive a class action notice in the mail on dec. 11, 2017.this is the reason why i am filling out this form.at the time that i checked on the website, it did not list my car as one of those being recalled, but said that it could be recalled at a later date.
Since 2013 i had my vehicle in for passengers side air bag light intermittent, this occurs at any time sitting , driving on side roads, highway at any speed. It does not happen all the time. It could come on today and not happen for a day or so.this is a safety item and after replacing the seat frame and seat weight sensor it is still coming on. Need your help in getting a fix as my wife is scared when in the car.the last word from honda care is this is normal, if this is true then alot other honda crvs should be having this issue. My wife is 5'2 and weights more then 65lbs or 29 kilos so that answer won't hold up. Talking with dealership in japan they suggest replacing the srs as this can cause a passenger side air bag light to come on. I/am willing to go higher up the chain for a fix what ever it my be as i do not believe my car is the only one with is problem. I have records. This has been going on for 6 years.
1-takata inflator the passage airbag light comes on and off randomly.this does not make me feel comfortable.there's a recall for cr-vs up to 2012 for this??2-start up noise - at least once a day when i start up my cr-v it does this very loud grinding sound.note: during winter it was every time i started the car.the noise did not start until after the warranty expired.took to dealership they stated its the valve that's a part of the head/timing chain system. I've done my research and both these problems are very common with honda cr-v.
On 11/30/15 our 2013 honda crv was taken to fox honda in grand rapids, mi to have the driver air bag and power lock recall repairs performed.on 12/15/15 my daughter was traveling at approximately 50 mph when the truck in front of her slammed on it's breaks but the trailer lights were not working so the crv squarely impacted the rear of the trailer with significant force.the passenger airbag deployed but the driver airbag did not.the radiator, engine and frame were damaged so the car was totaled.we filed complaint #04347205 with honda explaining that the insurance adjuster and the body shop workers both believed that the air bag should have deployed.after my 3rd call, the honda representatives were still trying to tell me that there are separate sensors and there are many reasons why one air bag could go off and not the other.i explained that while my daughter was not badly injured, i am concerned that there could be a bigger problem with their air bags and i wished they would take it seriously enough to inspect the car to make sure someone else isn't injured or even killed if there is a general defect.
Hisometime i am seeing warning like left side air bag is off. But it goes away in few mins.please advisethanksabhishek
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v.the contact was driving 15 mph when the passenger side air bag indicator illuminated on the instrument panel.there was no one occupying the passenger seat during the failure.the dealer reset the codes on three different occasions, but the failure continued.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 112.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. Ther contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated for approximately one year. The vehicle was taken to brannon honda (300 gadsden hwy, birmingham, al 35235) where it was diagnosed that a sensor needed to be replaced on the front passenger side air bag. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000.
The heater seems to be overheating and melting my vents. I have taken it to honda, and they stated that it was impossible for a heater to get that hot. The heater is so hot that you cannot touch the vents if the heater is turned on, you have to wait 2-4 minutes after turning it off before you can touch the vents. I complained about the vents melting, and they said that it must have been something i did to make it happen, and will not replace the vents or check the heater until i figure out what happened to the vents.
The headlights keep blowing. Have been through 3 sets in 10 months! taken it in to honda, and they blame the consumer's improper installation as a cause. We had auto zone help us install them each time. Been complaining since day 1 that the headlights constantly dim and come back up. Honda blames the cars "small battery" as the reasoning behind it. Then if it's their "battery" that's causing it then make the space bigger! also, on multiple occasions have noticed the car lags when hitting the accelerator. Has almost caused multiple collisions. You press the accelerator expecting the car to move, but it delays. Which is really dangerous when your trying to make a quick turn. Honda says "it's normal, all cars do it". There really needs to be recalls issued for these! these things are major safety issues! i've reviewed multiple people stating the same issues with their honda's, and yet honda refuses to help their consumers and still continues to produce faulty and dangerous cars.
Judder, akin to driving on the rumble strips alongside a highway. Happens when slowly accelerating between 20-30 mph. Purchased the vehicle in 10/2016.
Loud, grinding sound upon starting the vehicle, after sitting overnight.
The car comes with a battery of insufficient size and an inadequate charging system. The vehicle should not need jump starting after normal driving conditions with a fairly new battery. The 1st time it happened was after 3 months and again at 6 months. Suggested solutions include turning off econmode, riding in d3 or 2nd, or taking long rides at freeway speeds. The car was not advertised as being this defective for everyday driving. It also has poor high beams and freezing windshield washers.
Door locks locking/unlocking while driving. Also, passenger front door won't lock either with key fob or manually.
I went out saturday morning started the car and the steering malfunction light was on and i had no power steering (eps). I called the dealer they said they couldn't help until tuesday (monday holiday) so it isn't fixed yet.
First, second and third incident, pertained of all 4 doors locking and unlocking repeatedly, by themselves while the vehicle was in drive, going down the freeway and on surface streets. The most reent incident was 12/16/13. The vehicle would not unlock. I used both the after market remote start fob, the fob on the original factory key and also the manual unlock by putting the key in the door. After 2 hours of constantly pushing buttons and checking all entrances to the vehicle, the vehicle unlocked on it's own, without pushing any of the buttons. My 15 month old child and i were literally stranded for these 2 hours until a tow truck could come to us. Not to mention that the car unlocked itself on it's own right before the tow company showed up. What if my child had been inside of the vehicle when this happened????
Defective door locking systems in 2013 honda cr-v vehicle.we have had to replace 3 door lock actuators on our 2013 cr-v and now have had a 4th door lock actuator go bad.we have spoken with american honda, and they informed us that the actuator is not defective.well, if it is not defective, then why is it not working? we asked to speak to a manager, and were informed that the manager would tell us the same thing.we have spoken with other honda owners of different vehicles, and they are also experiencing door lock actuator problems with their vehicles, whether it be a cr-v, accord, civic, etc.my previous 2008 honda civic had to have 12 door lock actuators replaced.i've spoken with a couple of the honda service techs, and they laughed when i told them about the door actuator problem.one tech said they replaced them quite often.this is a defective product and a class action lawsuit needs to be started to remedy this known problem.there was a class action suit against honda for 2007-2011 honda cr-v's which honda settled.sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Wiring harness was chewed by rodents.expense was $1350. Dealer said it was not covered under warranty. Sold me rodent tape for the other wires that were not replaced.
Car would not start at home.unsure how it made it home.found battery had leaked and completely corroded through copper wire braid used on positive battery cable instead of a proper battery post clamp.lost all connectivity to starter.corrosion infiltrated wire to starter. Internet search shows numerous honda customers with different models dating back to 2002 or so with same problem.dealer price of wiring harness at $800 plus labor and battery at approx. $117.add possible towing charges, total cost to fix = $1,000 - $2,000.1) battery should last more than 3-4 years2) use of wire braid instead of proper battery post clamp is design flawappears no recall has been issued.honda website has no facility to register complaints online.customer service page for that purpose did not work.
Engine rattles at early morning start up , honda aware of vtc actuator default and needs to open a recall cases to all crv made between 2012-2014
Drivers door lock makes a loud, grinding sound when the door is locked. Unable to lock the vehicle. Door lock actuator replaced, lasted one day, problem came back.rear left door lock does not open or close using the remote. It must be manually opened or closed.
We purchased a 2013 honda crv and wound up returning the vehicle that day with only 20 minutes of driving the car. We were on the freeway, my husband was behind us in our other car. I was driving about 55 miles per hour when the gas pedal basically lost power. It felt as if the resistance behind the pedal just disappeared (accelerator hesitancy also happened at a left turn going 5 mph). At that moment the car lost power...several seconds later, the pedal resumed its normal feel and power resumed...it did this 3 times. Right at the first time it did this, i heard a triple click (sounded like the clicks you get when the car does not turn on after battery drain). So, click, click, click, loss of power, power, loss of power, power, loss of power, power. I immediately got into the right lane thinking the car was going to die on me and expecting to have to pull to the side of the freeway. My husband watched the whole thing in our truck so he had a good view. He saw 3 expulsions of bluish exhaust come out of the exhaust pipe and saw the car slow down at each of the power loss events. This is a safety issue and it is happening no only to this car, but the forester and rav4 and others. Service was so reliant on their computer read out, which said nothing was wrong, that we did not have faith they would investigate the problem and find a solution. So we cancelled the sale. It is ashame that the nhts has only required mat changes as recalls. This is obviously a computer programming error in which the car computer (which now controls the gas pedal rather than an actual line going to it) is telling the car to slow down. And the fact that the computer does not record a problem likely is further evidence of a computer malfunction. The auto industry and our own government watchdog is making our roads less safe. This issue is rampant. Car mats, really people?
On my 4th battery, they keep dying leaving us stranded. Software was updated by dealer there is a internal honda memo how to resolve but it did not work. No current drain they checked. Just today with a 15 month old battery it died and yet again the battery needed to be replaced. Only solution is to replace battery each year. Bad design my loyalty to honda is fading fast.
Upon light acceleration on a city street my car vibrates quite strongly and feels as though the car is going to stall. This issue seems to only happen at low speeds (10-35mph). I have contacted the local honda dealer with my vin# and they deny any issue with the vehicle. After further investigation i have found numerous reports online about this very same issue and how honda is unwilling to address or fix the issue. I hope honda issue a recall soon because this amount of vibration makes me feel as if there is a lot of mechanical wear happening with every acceleration and that the car could fail at any moment.
The rear liftgate and rear passenger door failed to open when i used the remote to unlock the vehicle. The rear liftgate did open after the third try with the remote key fob. The passenger side rear door will not open by either the exterior or interior door handle. I engaged and disengaged the rear seat child lock several times and attempted to open the door, the door still will not open. Updated 09/15/15*lj
The high beam headlights on this vehicle and my daughter's similar car are a defective design. There are many complaints already regarding this. The only way you can see decently is with a combination of low beams and driving lights.
At work, finished my shift, move car to exit, turn car off went in swipe my card get in car put key in to start and car engine would not turn over, all lights lights on in car, windows works but battery wouldn't start...this happened three times at work, i had to jump start, engine starts up at first turn over...my car have a very rattles sound when i put key in to start at all times, is like i exceed the turning point but i don't. I turned key naturally to start but starter still rattles...i believed it's a starter problem and it's scaring me, my car is just one year old, i bought it last year september of 2013...
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While the vehicle was stopped, the contact noticed a hanging wire and the all wheel drive continuously illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cover for the axle was hanging and the electronic all wheel drive sensor cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000. The vin was not available.
This is a problem with several things in the car at different intervals.the stability control warning light came"vsr indicator", the check engine light, the electric steering indicator "eps" lights came on at the same time while driving. I did not notice any problems with steering. When i got to my destination and restarted the car all the indicator lights were off. The cruise control would not work when i first started the car. After i pull over and stop and restart the car the cruise would start working. When first start the car in the morning the radio would be on but no sound. It works when i restart the car. When i first start the car all the radio station presets get reset to "0" sometimes. I have never seen the radio presets at "0" on any car. Today the stability light and steering wheel light is on and the cruise control will work for about 5 minutes. When i restart the cruise control will work again.
Battery was going dead periodically.thought i was leaving a light on or door open.told the honda dealer to check the battery while it was under warranty.theynever checked it.didnt even put that i asked to check it. Out of warranty battery went dead.did a check at autozone they said it was the altenator.changed altenator still the same problem.voltage regulator. The volts only stay up when i keep the headlights on.( more to this story about my bad dealership experience but don't want to get into it)
I have hum installed.i keep getting "issues with battery" .your car may not startdue to loss of charge in battery.i am disabled and cannot afford for this to happenout of the clear blue. Thank youi really have no idea of when this ocurred, but did have new battery installed for$ 169.00 at dealership and still getting warning from hum.
When entering a highway on-ramp in making the turn all doors were suddenly unlocked and the front courtesy lights in the passenger compartment came on.this has now happened about 10 times when cornering.
On 9/23/14 30000 mile check up performed at dealership where i bought the car. On 10/14/14 in heavy rush hour traffic i accelerated to pass a car on interstate 4; vehicle hiccuped and lost power; able to go to shoulder of the road across 3 lanes of traffic; turned vehicle off then on again; vehicle started without hesitation.drove car to dealership where i bought it; they checked it out; said they could not find anything wrong; however, they ran a computer update for the alternating system stating that they "think" problem is solved.contacted honda regional; they authorized an inspection at a different honda dealership on 11/12/14.i was again told that they could find no reason that the vehicle lost power; at that point, honda regional told me there is nothing more they can do.i am not satisfied with this answer.do i have any recourse?
My car had less than 34,000 and i went to start it and it was totally dead. It would not take a jump, i had to had it towed and it turned out it had a dead cell and i had to replace the battery. The last car i had the battery was over 10 years old. This car is over 3 years so there was no warranty on it. Just feel this should be checked into.
Battery issue ,it die with out no risen ,the the triple aaa test [ charging system test] no problem .it happen so many times .what can i do?
The abs module stopped functioning for brakes and airbags. The dealership currently has the car and does not know why it malfunctioned. Their explanation is that the abs module went bad and it is not drivable because the brakes might lock and possibly set off the airbags. I am concerned this may effect other vehicles as it is a costly fix. The bill is currently $2,400 and they are unsure if that will fix the problem, or if it will cost more money to figure out the issue.
Cpsc: 2013 honda cr-v: consumer stated he is only able to hear the turn signal if the air conditioner, and radio has been turned off, and the signal does not show on the dash. *ss
Blue ox patriot braking system/2013 honda crv.consumer writes in regards to vehicle being towedwith a supplemental braking system.the consumer stated, twice while returning from a recent trip, the supplemental brake system locked the brakes down on his 2013 honda crab, that was being towed for no apparent reason. On both occasions, he was slowing down gradually and making a slight turn from one lane to the next. On the first occasion, he was going around 30-35 mph. On the second, he was exiting a busy i-95 and going around 55 mph. The full force panic stop issued by the supplemental brake practically stopped his matron. It flat-spotted all of the tires. The consumer notified blue ox, of the incident. They agreed to allow him to return the braking system for an evaluation to determine why the incidents might have occurred. After a few weeks, he finally had to call them, only to be informed the unit passed all the tests and it was not their fault. Blue ox, returned the braking system with no comment.
I was driving and all of the safety lights came on ,on the dash board, antilock brakes, traction control, vehicle stability. This is the second time this has happened.the first time the left front abs wheel speed sensor was replaced at the dealership. The car had less than 300 miles on it .the second time, with less than 3000 miles on it , all of the lights came on again on the dashboard and i had difficulty stopping the car. The brakes were very difficult touse, they seemed to get stuck and were making an awful racket.corrosion was found inwheel speed sensor connector harness side and the engine harness was replaced. I lost the use of the car for 14 days asthe front of the car ,grille, fender ,steering wheel ,dashboard and other parts has to be disassembled and the replacement parts were not available to the dealership.
This car developed a major vibration while accelerating at low speeds (around 20-30 mph) around 65,000miles. The steering wheel shakes and passengers can feel the car "shudder". I was told it needed a software update and transmission fluid changed. This was done and now at 100,000 miles the vibration is back and honda is refusing to repair it. States the extended the warranty to 80,000 miles for this known problem but since its over 100,000 it would be out of pocket.
Twice in a day and while driving in the rain for the first time, four malfunction lights appeared in the dashboard and stayed on.they were the awd, abs, vsa and eps amber lights.i took pictures of the display in the dashboard.the next day the display had cleared and i took the vehicle to the dealer.i showed one of the pictures to the service advisor.after 2.5 hours i was told that they could not duplicate the trouble and that the trouble was possibly caused by slippage in recent weather.this is unsettling as it makes me wonder if i will continue to have this problem on rainy days.
On march 11, 2017, i was traveling from fort lauderdale to naples florida on interstate 75.i had the car on cruise control and traveling around 70 mph.i took the car off cruise control and then pressed on the gas when the car's engine deaccelerated the car severely.i pressed and let off the gas pedal several times as the car continue to deaccelerate and almost caused an accident with an 18-wheeler.a similar circumstance has also occurred but at 10-20 mph when accelerating from a red light and needing to take my foot off the gas and then press down on the gas to continue.the engine continues to run but does not accelerate the car.if the high speed condition occurs again, i will need to put the car in neutral to stop the car's engine from severely deaccelerating the car.
Engine rattles at early morning start up , honda aware of vtc actuator default and needs to open a recall cases to all crv made between 2012-2014. I have had to replace the cam shafts, and drive belt. I have had to replace the control arms and tires. All mt dash lights have come on while i was driving. The car shakes and is scary to drive.this car has safety issues with the control arms in the suspension and acceleration issues that have been reported by consumers. When does someone decide that this is a safety issue.when a car has tire, acceleration, or issues with transmission this is a safety issue. Honda should do something to show they care about the consumer safety. There are many issues with the honda cr-v please address the serious ones.
I had left my office about 10 minutes prior to pulling into a shopping center and was driving about 5 mph in the parking lot, looking for a parking space.i saw one and slowed down even more to barely moving, and was easing into the parking space with my right foot on the brake.just as the car stopped and i was getting ready to put it into park, the engine suddenly revved up and the car jumped the curb and hit a tree about 5 feet in front of the parking space at full force.it was like the accelerator had been pressed all the way to the floor.i was totally stunned.the entire front of the car was smashed in and radiator fluid was coming out of the bottom of the car.when this incident occurred, i was not talking on the phone; i was not drinking or eating anything in the car; i did not even have the radio turned on.i was not in an emotional state; i am not psychotic, homicidal ,or suicidal.i had both hands on the steering wheel as i had just made a slow left turn into the parking space and was barely moving, with my foot on the brake.i have gone on the internet to research anything like this occurring with other honda crv's, and there are numerous incidences cited involving the 2011 and 2013 models.it happens in very cold weather (freezing or below) , while the brake is engaged.it was in the low 30's at the time and my foot was on the brake.luckily, the tree stopped my forward motion, or i would have ended up driving thru the plate glass window of the ups store.other drivers have not been so lucky- some have been taken to the hospital, other cars involved, other people injured.i am absolutely terrified of driving this vehicle again.
I've previously reported the vtc actuator problem o this site and american honda with zero satisfaction.the problem has continued and i get conflicting information from my dealer and american honda.the original complaint number was 10783068.upon re-inquiring with american honda they've informed me that this problem has not been associated with my vin which again is incorrect based on dealership feedback.honda has refused to permit me the ability to speak to a customer care superior or to share with me the actual resolution of other known vtc actuator problems.please investigate and deteremine exactly why honda is being permitted to ignore this known and widespread problem?
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. When starting the engine in cold temperatures, an abnormal metal grinding noise emitted from the vehicle. The failure recurred upon initial start-up in colder temperatures. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vtc actuator failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.
When starting cold, as sitting overnight, turn key ,grinding noise from engine, only time it happens
Vtc spins after ignition starts: dealer states that this problem is not to be addressed per honda manufacturer policy.
Have 2013 honda cr-v and when go to start it after sitting overnight makes loud grinding noise for 1-2 seconds. Dealership says it's the vtc actuator and is a know problem but not recall has been issued. They want 500 bucks to fix the issues since car of course isn't under warranty and won't work with me at all. Very unprofessional in my opinion of honda with an issues that is know and common.
At the stationary position, heard a loud grinding sound every time i start the car.dealership stated it is a vtc actuator failure.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shook uncontrollably without warning. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics where all four tires were replaced; a tire rod was replaced; the wheels were balanced and aligned; and the brakes were replaced. Despite the numerous repairs, the failure persisted. The contact then spoke with hagerstown honda (10307 auto pl, hagerstown, md 21740) about the failure and was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The contact was informed that any repairs to the vehicle would be at her owns expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v . The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but the dealer was unable to diagnosis the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 8.

A surge, vibration, or judder may be felt while driving under light acceleration
When it's cold outside and if the car has set for more than a few hours, the car makes a terrible rattling sound when the engine starts.
2013 honda cr-v.consumer writes in regards to vehicle tpms system issues.approximately, 4 1/2 months after the vehicle was purchased, the consumer began having problems with the tpms. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer 4 times. On january 18, 2014 the dealer replaced the rear tpms sensors, but that evening the tpms light illuminated again and has been intermittently coming on since that time. Also, there was a grinding noise, that occurred immediately after start-up. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem.
Bran new honda crv purchase maybe 13miles21k miles later and after a scheduled oil change, the vehicle was idling rougher than normal(i know the difference in the vehicle, from bran new till 21k miles) then we started loosing power on the takeoff.1 day later after reaching 25mph the vehicle felt as though we lost all power and the check engine light came on and went off as quick.called the dealership and told them exactly what happened and all they said(is the light still on, we need a light to pull a code to diagnose it)took it in the next business day for a lookthey could not find anything due to no light and no malfunction at that time.days later the wife taking the daughter to school proceeded to merge onto interstate driving about 55mph.not even a mile onto the interstate the vehicle slowed down like loss of power and shut off, in the middle of 2lane 70mpha diesels swerved just in time to miss smashing the crv from behindwife was so scared and my daughter was shakingthe wife let it roll off the interstate onto the shoulder as much as the vehicle would allow possible.towed the vehicle into dealership with light onthey pulled a code that told them (3rd cylinder misfire) the dealership changed the sparkplug for the 3rd cylinder and we picked it upa few weeks later the vehicle did the same exactthing to at only feet further than last time traffic nearly piling up and colliding with one another to miss the crv. Wife and daughter scared out of their minds and shaking up bad.towed it into dealership and they pulled the exact code the dealership changed the 3rd coil and flashed the computer and called honda to ask if the results needed any further fix. The manager of the dealership told me honda said" it is within the running limits" and we picked up the crvtill this day the new21k mile honda crv continues to shutter, lose ac fan power and dive power with no code to date.
Every time i start my car in the morning and sometimes other times during the day it makes a terrible grinding noise
The contact owns a 2013 honda crv. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was a grinding noise heard on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who diagnosed that the variable timing control actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was returned within a week of the repair and the same exact part was replaced. The vehicle exhibited the failure again but was not repaired. The contact still heard the grinding noise with no remedy for the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4000.
Driver on highway when check engine, malfunction indicator and eps lights came on. The car lost power and driver pulled off to side.checked car, restarted car butwould not go over 20mph.car towed and mechanic reported #4 spark plug oil fouled, but no psi in #4 cylinder.towed to dealer but problem not fixed and engine not running.dealer did not offer any help.
Vehicle stationary. Variable timing chain actuator (vtc actuator) started to grind upon engine starts at 90k. Had the vtc replaced for $700 and within a year it failed again causing the same grinding noise upon engine starts. Dealer then replaced the timing chain and tensioners for $1200 saying that was the issue causing the noise. Next morning the car is making the same grinding noise. Took back to dealer but apparently they cannot reproduce the sound. Video recorded the sound to send them.honda is aware of the issue: tsb 16-012i purchased the car new in 2013 and have only had the vehicle serviced at honda. I spent over $2000 trying to have this fixed at the dealer and the issue is not resolved. I want to sell this vehicle but can't allow someone else to buy a defective car.
After coming to a full stop at a stop sign or red light and turning either left or right under normal acceleration the rpms drop to zero for a spit second and then power is restored.this happens only on turns.it is an on going problem.honda dealer and honda corp. Say no problem.does not register on the computer in the car.i have an email from the salesman that sold us the car that he has two womenthat work for him with the same problem (i can forward the email at your request).their solution is to turn the econ system off.as this happens only in stop and go situations turning the econ system off defeats the purpose of the system.i have had more than one close call.i drive this car a little as possible at this time under 5,000 miles as i am a realtor in this time frame there would be double the miles. This started as we drove home from the dealership.
Makes crating sound when it is cold started
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the engine exhibited a loud grinding noise when starting in cold weather. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the mechanic stated that the variable timing control (vtc) and the vtc actuator would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 4,000.
Inoticed a rattling noise during cold starts from the engine that continued well into the summer.i reported it to my honda dealer (bill page/falls church, va) and referred to the well documented vtc actuator problem reported on the internet based on video and audio similarities in the noises i was hearing.the dealer being aware of the problem refrained from any investigation or correction until they received a corrective solution from honda.i reported the problem to honda america and the dealer later in 2015 after my honda dealer technician reptd no solution has come from honda. I received a call from honda regarding my complaint suggesting the vtc actuator problem is limited to alaska and i should make an appointment with my dealer to investigate.as a result to a switch to synthetic oil at the dealer the noise seems to have gone.unfortunately this does not guarantee the original problem has not damaged the engine or won't reappear if i decide to return to conventional oil.the official position by honda vs. The dealer seems to promote a stand-off to compensate for a lack of a fully reliable solution in that the dealer is told not to initiate repairs for this problem until a solution is distributed by honda while honda claims the problem is not universal and is trying to minimize its scope; leaving consumers in the middle trying to make their crvs or other model hondas reliable while still under warranty.i will continue pursuit of a fix with honda america but feel nhtsa should pressure honda to address this well known and publicized fault with some sort of permanent fix.for a manufacturer who claims their vehicles are highly reliable honda apparent deception regarding this problem needs to be addressed and i hope nhtsa forces this action to occur. I also provided nhtsa with a copy of my 7/25/15 letter to american honda.
On cold start the engine makes a loud grinding noise. My vehicle only has 28,500 miles on the car.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that when starting the vehicle, a grinding noise was heard from the front end. The failure was recurring and intermittent. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 19,000. Kmj
Engine is rattling on cold startups mainly when temp is below 40. Took vehicle to honda dealership and had the vtc actuator replaced but problem still exists and now the engine is consuming excessive oil.
The honda cr-v 2013 we purchased on 7/3/18 has been experiencing a vibration while in motion between aprox 10 mph -30 mph. It took place on city, town and county roads we have not driven on highway yet. It vibrates similar to driving over rumble strips in the highway to inform you of lane edges.it seems to stop if you let the foot of accelerator pedal. It is somewhat unnerving and can be a little scary to our young driver.
A loud grinding noise lasting a few seconds after initial start up after car has been sitting, i.e., a 'cold start.' my honda 2013 crv-ex-l has had this problem from day one, brand new! it's intermittent but happens usually on a cold start.after quite a few visits to dealer they act perplexed and never can duplicate the condition!it actually is the vtc (variable timing control).honda has had this problem for several years on various models of their vehicles, has never fixed the problem nor contacted affected buyers but has continued to build and sell these vehicles with a known defect with no fix!their engineers are aware of the problem, but of course the same engineers say it causes "no damage to the vehicle!" shame on honda, it only ruined their reputation! people stare at you and ask "what is that noise?"when you explain, it puts honda and their vehicles in a poor position i.e., loss of reputation and sales.i did intensive investigation on my own, just 'google the problem, and you will be taken to 'you tube' and many other sites showing the problem.take to the dealer a video and a copy of the numerous complaints on this and other sites!you must prove the problem exists!!i called honda america 2 days ago to complain and found out honda just this year, 2016,finally came out with a 'fix!'it is for the vtc (variable timing control) . My car finally is at the dealer being repaired.honda knew all along of this problem at least from 2012 through 2014 and even earlier models! a recall should be mandated to make the repair!!again shame on honda, i personally will never buy a honda automobile again.the frustration, embarrassment, time running back and forth to the dealer, etc. Has worn me out!!remember their is now a bulletin to honda dealers with a 'fix.'but they must duplicate the problem!be sure to take a videowith sound!!
My honda cr-v 2013 vin [xxx] is also stalling when on cruise control and going uphill. When i type my vin and car model it shows no recall. I am having the same stalling issues as the other cars, why is my vin not being recalled so it can be fixed. My cell phone [xxx].i have filed many complaints on the same problem.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Awfulgrinding noise at a cold start no matter what the weather is. Car is in mid atlantic region. Each start comes with a grinding noise. Mechanic can't find anything wrong. None of my other cars not make such a horrendous noise at start up. This sound was noticed not long afterthe car was purchased late 2014.
Purchased the car used from a honda dealer, still under the 30,000 millage warranty. Timing chain began slipping after a few months as weather got a bit colder.brought it in and they said 'they knew what the problem was'.picked up the vehicle and within a short time the noise came back again. This went on.i googled and found the the timing chain was a chronic issue in these vehicles.feels like its loose. I brought it into another mechanic and was told its the timing chain and should be under warranty.can you help?lots of these cars are recalled but my particular vin isn't on the list which is very peculiar.
Bought car fall 2015 w/21000 miles. First very cold day (below 0 f), i noticed the heating system as well as defrost barely worked after driving 8 miles on a country road. This repeated itself several more times before i discovered tsb 14-063 where they discovered sand had been inadequately washed from the blocks after the casting process was completed.it then settled in the heater core blocking the system from adequate defrost and heat.my dealer app't was disappointing in that they essentially told me i was lying and nothing was wrong with the system.they claimed the temp probes showed a 1/10 degree between the 2 vents - of course, i never saw the results.my warranty expires in less than a month when it will then be my responsibility to flush it myself or pay them to do it !! it's now spring so i feel that waiting for a recall could possibly put me in jeopardy as visibility during cold weather will be and has been an issue.i have a copy of the tsb and see it's supposedly a 3 12 hr obligation, but the flat rate they show is 1.1 hours which encourages their techs to do haphazard work.dealer was buerkle honda, st paul,mn and my app't was in early january 2016.
During winter months at freezing and below part # 110153 variable timing control, vtc actuator malfunctions. At the first start up the vehicle makes a grinding noise (metal upon metal). This was confirmed by the originating dealer and i was told that even though this happens consistently in crv-s when the temperature falls at or freezing that there is nothing to worry about. The engine won't freeze up nor will there be any damage to the power train? the part in question is unable (at low temperatures) to push oil up into the engine upon initial cold start-up in the mornings . This was how it was explained to me by the dealer. When i asked to speak to the honda representative who was at the store when the dealer replaced the part on 11 november, 2014 (and within less than 24 hours it failed) i was never allowed to do so. I lived with this all of last winter and now this winter as well or so it appears. I was informed by the dealer that this was an issue on several 2013 honda cr-v's sold in states where the climate is freezing or below. I was also informed that a fix was in the works by honda. Well a fix has been in the works now since at least february of this year 2014 and nothing has been achieved. I was told by the dealer to call honda customer relations. The dealer wiped their hands of the situation. I don't believe that there will not be damage to the engine ( and possibly cause it to freeze up while on the road) potentially causing a serious hazard/accident. Last, (and least of all) when i want to sell and/or trade in this vehicle it's value will be substantially diminished because of this defect that i am (by law) required to disclose. Funny how the dealer knew this when they sold me the car but never disclosed the defect to me!
Makes grinding noise at start up.similar to other complaints with vtc valve issues
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. When starting the engine in colder weather, the vehicle exhibited an abnormal grinding metal noise. The failure recurred upon initial start-up in colder temperatures. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vtc actuator was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,000. The vin was not available.
On the first start of the day, especially cold days, the engine makes a loud grinding/rattling noise. The dealership claims that there isn't a fix for the issue. It claims that it is a design flaw and doesn't hurt the engine. According to them, the oil drains from the part overnight and the "noise" is caused by lack of oil to that part. As soon as the part gets oil it stops. (about 2-3 seconds) according to research i've done on the internet, the issue has been ongoing for several years without a fix and is somewhat common. I bought the car in april and didn't experience the problem until late fall. It took me months to prove to the dealership that there was a problem.shame on honda. I've owned honda cars and have been loyal to honda for 25 years, but no longer.
Last winter, my car would make a rattling noise every time i started the car. I read online that during cold weather, this could happen. Now the spring and summer have gone by and the rattling still continues every time i start my car after the car has been idle for a little bit. I have further read that the vtc actuator needs to be replaced however, i am still seeing reports that the rattling reappears after a couple months even after replacing it. This is clearly a defect and should be free to replace (vs paying 800 dollars) considering it doesn't guarantee to fix the issue.
When i start the engine in the morning (cold), it makes a whirring/grating sound that lasts just a couple of seconds.it doesn't make this sound again all day, even when the vehicle sits for 8+ hours.i don't know if it's temperature-dependent.
While attempting to legally turn right into an intersection, the vehicle started to move but suddenly the accelerator failed to respond, leaving me and my family in the middle of the road for a approximately 3 to 5 seconds, while other vehicles were approaching.after a few seconds, the vehicle abruptly responded and i was able to continue my trip.this event has occasionally occurred since then.the issue has been discussed with the authorized dealer representative, but nothing has been done since no warning light or indicator has revealed any failure code.
Upon initial startup of the engine there is a grinding sound. This particular issue has only occurred twice and hard to replicate unless it's very cold. At first it sounded like a starter issue, but others have said it's the vtc actuator and an oil pressure issue when it's cold outside. Even though my car is garaged it has occurred twice in two weeks so it is a concern. Dealership will not do anything unless they can replicate it.this video shows exactly what the sound is like:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kr20baoxbo8.
During light acceleration there was a shuddering around 20-30 mph. It lessened after i decelerated. It continued for around 8 months or longer. I had it checked by a nearby mechanic. He printed off some information to have the software updated and to take it the a honda dealer. I called the closest, dealership for an appointment. I was told they would do a diagnostic test, costing me $120 and thenpinpoint the problem. I was told they would replace the fluids even before i explained the issue. After 3 1/12hrs and over $500 dollars i was on my way home. Breakdown on the bill. Labor amt $490 parts $69.14 and of course $39.13 tax. I feel they took advantage of the situation. I know there are many owners of honda cr-v having the same issue and that honda have not stepped up and took responsibility for the issue, if i have any other issues with the shuddering i will not purchase another honda, ever. I owned a honda civic and had no problems with that car for as long as i had it. So time will tell if the issue is completely solved. Also, they wanted to replace many items that was not the reason for my visit.
Coasting at 10 mph and no pressure on accelerator, when i give the car moderate gas the engine does not respond unless i rock the accelerator or accelerate hard. I now have 6526 miles on the car and a second trip to the dealer and the problem is more pronounced. The honda dealers statement is that the transmission is waiting for the computer to tell it to downshift or stay in present gear and accelerate and nothing can be done to eliminate the problem. It does not show up as a code.this could be a problem for new or less experienced drivers and conceivably cause a driver to be rear ender or hit a car from behind...
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that mostly from a stopped position, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer, who stated that the throttle wire cable was non-existent and the electronic system was causing the vehicle to stall. The dealer stated the manufacturer was aware of the issue but at the time, the engineers did not have a remedy available. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. Updated 11-18-13
I have a 2013 honda crv at about 65,000 miles. The vsa, eps, and check engine light came on all at the same time. I noticed that the car was running rough while idle and would not pick up after stopping. I researched this problem and notated that it seems to be a common issue for the timing chain to stretch. I have been meticulous about maintenance on my vehicle. Notably timing chains should last the entire life of the engine. I have taken my car to the honda dealership and been advised that indeed the timing chain needs to be replaced along with the vtc actuator (notably another common issue with these models). The price to fix this is outrageous considering the low miles and meticulous maintance by the honda dealership. I believe an investigation needs to completed as this issue can cause serious damage to your engine with little to no warning that something is wrong.
While coming home into my driveway as i came up the driveway i was stopping by a the front door the car suddenly lurched forward just before i came to a full stop, and hit garage door, which shook me up as my foot was on the brake pedal, i had pushed the pedal hard but still the car moved forward, afterwards we moved the car back and you can see where the front tires are spinning forward and the rear tires are locked up sliding forward showing that indeed my foot was pressing hard on the brake pedal, called my local dealer and had the car towed to them, they have not been able to find anything wrong with the car. As it is now,i am afraid to drive it because if it happens again and i am at a traffic light or parking lot something worse could happen or get injured. We took pictures of the car, garage door and all the tire marks, will try to send these to you.
While driving around 30 mphcar begins to jerk and vibrate.have to increase speed to make it stop.1
Check engine light and several other warning lights came on dash. Car has 77,806 miles. Dealer said timing chain is stretched. I have had all recommended maintenance performed on the vehicle and am the only owner. Service department said i should get oil changes more often than recommended. This should not be considered a normal 'wear' item at this age/mileage.
Sporadic grinding noise after setting overnight. Took to dealer, they said would have to hear it before they could do anything. Left until the next day. No satisfaction on my part. Still does it. It was under warranty when taken in, but is out of warranty now.
From a stop. I speed up to about 30 mph and feel a drag and shimmy at that speed, then it goes away.the problem only occurs at 30 mph,i have watched you-tube for possible troubles.
Grinding sound upon start. Probably the vtc actuator.
Engine grinding noise when crossing up and down structures like bridges. Especially on highway while taking exits. At a times it feels like the engine is about to die. This grinding noise is disturbing my confidence to drive the vehicle safely.
My mechanic from four stars auto care, long island, n.y. Had mentioned that there was a problem with my cr-v 2013 timing camshaft which is causing the grinding sound when i start the car (the mechanic says that the oil has drained from the camshaft and is not lubricated ' which caused the grinding sound). Usually, this happens if the engine has not been started for more than 3 or 4 hours. I believe this is the vtc actuator in the car that is making a grinding sound. I just spoke to a lady 'nicole' from honda city, 3859 hempstead turnpike, levittown, ny 11756 who acknowledged that there is a defect in the vtc actuator in the 2013 cr-vs but does not have an answer when honda will have the vtc replacement. She said, 'honda is working on a new vtc, but does not know when they will have them available.' she also said that, they stopped replacing the current vtc model and there is a defect.' all i want to know if they will still replace this when my car goes out of warranty in a few thousand miles? i also want to know if there is a long term effect of the grinding noise to the camshaft or the engine and also the passerby's who looked at my cr-v after i start my car.i am going to contact honda directly' i am not satisfied with the answers and the service. I will definitely not purchase another honda if there is satisfaction to this solution.
Vibration during acceleration at or above 1500rpm
My complaint is that honda is refusing to cover the costs of known problems in their vehicles. The issue is the vct actuator which results in a very loud metallic rattling on a cold start. I have had the vct actuator replaced two times. They didn't want to cover the second time as it was out of warranty but the dealer finally did. It then of course happened again. I also had a second known problem, (juttering, which is a vibration/shaking while driving/accelerating at lower speeds) which they fixed once, again, it also came back. Last year the drive shaft needed to be replaced and now once again, the vct actuator needs to be replaced. Again, this is a known honda problem that they refuse to fix at their expense.this has affected a lot of people, just read the message boards which are full of complaints about this issue. This should be a recall, why should we have to either live with the ridiculously loud rattling or continue to pay to repair a faulty item which is a known problem! i don't understand how they can continue to get away with this. I have owned hondas for years, never again! basically i am stuck with a noisy car that shakes with acceleration and i either keep paying to fix it or live with it. Neither is acceptable and honda should be held accountable.the date i listed is 10/27/20 but these issues go back further, today was just the final straw for me... I will also be contacting honda although it clearly won't do any good....
Heavy vibration in grear when come to a stop ....feeling vibration on the seat...took vehicle to dealership say they aware of the problem but ther no fix from honda at this time....dealer state lot of customer have the sam complain but nothing they can do at this time.....
For the past couple of months the engine makes a loud grinding noise when i start it. Mostly in colder weather. I've discussed this with another honda cr-v owner and the same thing started happening with them.
On cold days at first start up the engine makes a grinding noise. This has been an issue for accords and cr-v since 2008. Honda has issued a bulletin saying it's the vtc actuator but there has been no permanent fix or recall on defective part(s). Grinding noise can be sporadic so only if dealer can replicate issue will they replace the actuator and even then grinding noise can return weeks or months later when it gets cold again (i,e, every winter).for a problem that has existed for so many years, there should have been a permanent fix by now. Especially for a brand new vehicle. In my case i've had the grinding noise since december '13 although sporadic as mentioned depending on outside temp and how long the vehicle has not be started.
At the stationary position, heard a loud grinding sound when i start the vehicle for about 1-2 seconds.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle hesitated. The vehicle taken to the dealer where it was found that the computer needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was not available.updated 5/27/14the consumer stated there was a delay in acceleration.at times, there would be no response from the vehicle, as if, it cut off and then the vehicle would suddenly lurch forward. Updated 08/19/14
During a cold start-up the engine rattles loudly for about 2 seconds every since i purchased the vehicle new. Had it back to dealer several times and they advised they didn't hear it. The vtc actuator is defective apparently from prior complaints. The second issue the car started to shudder and vibrate on the road when driving at slower speeds. Not sure if i need a software update.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.
Engine makes a rattle noise on cold start up.car was taken to dealership and was told the vtc actuator was defective and was replaced under warranty at 83000 miles.this was in august of 2017.it is now january of 2018, car now has 90355 miles and the rattle noise has returned.will take the car back to the dealership this week to see what will be done next.from what i have researched, honda has not come up with a real fix. This problem has been going on for several years for previous models.come on nhtsa, put some heat on these guys.
As like other reports my car has been making a large rattling sound for years and it's getting worse and from what i've looked up it can be very bad and expensive to repair and honda needs to look into why this is happening to our cars and do a recall because this should not be our responsibility to pay for a defect.i am assuming it is the same vtc actuator that needs to be replaced and possibly the timing chain which is extremely expensive to replace.
I own a honda cr-v 2013 awd with 60,000 miles.i'm the second owner.i purchased the car from carmax in 2016 with 27,000 miles.after several months of owning the vehicle one morning i hear this loud grinding noise lasting a few seconds after initial start up of vehicle when stationary.this sound has continued on and off at all different times of the day.
The vehicle is burning 1.5 quarts of oil at oil change intervals. I notice a rattling that lasts about 30 seconds at start up,in the morning or when is cold; after the rattling, the engine sounds normal.
Judder, akin to driving on the rumble strips alongside a highway. Happens when slowly accelerating between 20-30 mph. Purchased the vehicle in 10/2016.
Engine rattles at startup, vtc actuator, afraid that this will lead to catastrophic engine failure. This happens every time we start the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the contact heard an abnormal noise from the vehicle. The failurerecurred twice. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vtc actuator needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,500....updated 02/03/16 grinding noise during cold start up updated 4/23/18
2013 honda crv shakes at speed 30-45 mph during acceleration.shakes sometimes goes away when foot is removed momentarily and gas is reapplied.already made attempt to have issue fix at daytona honda dealership, transmission fluid was flushed and fuel injectors cleaned.shaking returned after a few weeks.
A year ago i noticed at times a noise like i am trying to start the vehicle with it already running. The other day on initial start it made a louder noise. The best i can tell is a problem with the vtc actuator.
Engine makes loud grinding noise when starting cold similar to what others have described as the vtc actuator problem. Car has 83,000 miles on it.fyi.....this is my second honda cr-v.....i traded in the last one at 78,000 miles when it was doing the same thing!!!
When i turn on engine for the first time without any 1-2 hour gap, i hear a cranky engine sound after the ignition. I found that it was a manufacturing defect in 2013 model. My close friend returned his honda crv after a year as it sounded loud in cold weather conditions of montana. In my case it was not sounding everytime till now. I notified that to my car dealer when i took this vehicle from bob rohrman. These days it has become a daily routine, that sound is happening each time you ignite engine after a gap of say 1-2 hours. My brakes were always noisy since day one of the vehicle. It was also notified to the dealer however i was told it was due to wet conditions. However it is a regular thing. My car is just 7880 miles and well kept, why is the brake so noisy including another problem occurring in engine now. Please provide a resolution or i will have no choice but to request for refund.
As i reported last year, there is a vtc actuator design flaw that creates a grinding noise when the temps fall below freezing and in some cases even above freezing mainly due to lack of oil pressure and the actuator not locking correctly. Well, another winter has come and gone and there is still no hint of a fix from honda. They claim there is no damage occurring but any time i hear metal on metal i beg to differ. Unfortunately at this point i am looking at options such as trading the vehicle in as i don't know what kind of serious damage is being done each winter with metal on metal grinding. Honda sure has lost their prestigious claim of reliability in my eyes. Sadly this will be my last honda product as they don't seem to address customer concerns in any kind of timely manner.
Correct recall on some crv - if the gear selector is moved from the park position without pressing the brake pedal it can allow the vehicle to roll away, increasing the risk of a crash. Accident i stopped my car thought i put it in park and left it running to put up a garage sale sign. The next thing i know my car was driving away by itself like someone jumped in the car. I was out of the car and about 10 feet behind the car when the car started to move. The car was not on a hill but just started going. There was no way i could stop it and thank god it hit a mailbox that was in a tub of cement which stopped the car. If it did not hit this it could of keep going and hit someone else or someone on the main road route 46 in mine hill. I am afraid to even drive it when i get it back. This is a leased car and i can't even believe i had to have this happen.of course i got a ticket. I am concerned since i would not like this to happen to anyone else someone could of been killed.
While traveling in stop and go traffic, i was fully stopped with my foot on the brake peddle. Suddenly i heard & felt the engine of my car revving up. My car catapulted forward about 20 feet hitting the car in front of me. I applied more pressure on the brake peddle but could not stop the forward momentum of my car. Both cars sustained damage. The other driver was taken to the hospital in an ambulance because she complained of head, neck & back pain.
The vtc actuator makes noise and needs to be replaced.i has been happening for a long time.
Passenger side has heat, while no heat on driver side of vehicle. The 2013honda crvhas less than 24k miles and is already having a plugged/faulty heating core. These problems should not be manifesting till much later in a cars life. The biggest problem is that i live in a cool state during the winter and the windshield is frosting up while driving causing significant visibility loss.
One cold winter morning, my engine light, power train and steering wheel warning signs all turned on. I had checked my oil and it was still 40% full. I started noticing that the car was moving slow not more than 20mph. Also the gas gallon indicator went from 36mpg to 20mpg. It is burning way more gas than it was. I started researching and found out that other consumers had the same problem. I'm writing this because i want other people to know that there is something wrong with their honda cr-v model. I know it is not safe for me to be driving the car around especially in the highway. The car moves slower than it usually does. It wouldn't be safe for me to be driving it at all till we get the problem resolved.
Loud, grinding sound upon starting the vehicle, after sitting overnight.
The crv exhibits a loud rattle from the valve cover. The noise comes on everytime the ac compressor kicks on. Dealer replaced vtc actuator with no results. Then dealer replaced auto belt tensioner with no results. Noise is loud and turns peoples heads as i back up or take off. Iveread many similar stories from other crv owners. Dealers unable to fix this problem.
Pulled into driveway and was a couple of feet away from the garage door, going only one or two mph,put foot on brake to stop and suddenly the car lurch forward, press as hard as i could on brake pedal, but car kept moving forward till it hit garage door, then everything stopped. You can see by the marks on the driveway that the front tires were spinning forward while the rear tires were locked ( because i had hard pressure on the brake pedal) and slid a few feet, we have taken pictures of the car and driveway and will try to send to you. I am fearful of driving this car because if it happens again while at a traffic light or parking lot or similar, it could be life threatening
Excessive oil consumption. No oil leak and not burning oil. Mechanic noted excessive oil use when he saw it was 2 quarts low on oil within 3 months use after a oil change. Mechanic found no cause for this so it must be inside the engine or drive train. Car is used for local flat driving. No towing, racing, mountains, etc.
Vtc actuator is failing causing a grinding sound when starting the vehicle.honda has recognized and admitted to a defective part.continued to sell cars knowing the parts were defective.2014-2015 hondas have the same issue.honda reports it is not doing damage to the engine or any components.they are offering no assistance in the matter.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. When the vehicle was started, the contact observed an abnormal noise from the engine without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. The vin was unavailable.
2013 honda cr-v.consumer writes in regards to vehicle hesitates when gear shifts into drive, responds normally after several seconds, dealership unable to duplicate issue.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While the vehicle was stopped, excessive exhaust fume odors emitted inside the vehicle. In addition, after turning the air conditioner off, the air conditioner warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,015.
I purchased a 2013 crv in the beginning of 2013 with vin # [xxx]. With about 6,000 miles after the first oil change, the vehicle starts making a creaking noise when pushing and releasing the brake. I went to the dealer on 11/11/13. A technician was able to duplicate the problem. The second visit to the dealer is on 11/25/2013. A master technician was able to duplicate the problem and identify the noise does not come from the braking system but from the rear differential system. The dealer made a phone call to honda tech line and was told to hold on the fix and wait for honda to do more investigation. The dealer said honda will send me a letter in the near future.i waited for the response from both dealer and honda for more than a month and heard nothing. The dealer told me to contact honda directly. I called honda in end of december 2013, and heard back from them in 1/3/2014, a honda representative named [xxx] in 1-800-999-1009 [xxx] called me back and told me that honda is not going to fix the problem and replace any parts but will do more investigation. He mentioned that the investigation will last for 2 to 3 years. Also honda is not considering the rear differential system is failed or defective, because the computer did not notify them such part is failed. [xxx] refused to give me more information and did not want to issue a statement or letter to me to describe the problem and what further investigation will honda do. [xxx] keeps saying that he is not an engineer to answer any technical related questions. The decision made by honda is no repairing or replacement to any part to fix this problem. The high beam headlights on this vehicle and my daughter's similar car are a defective design. There are many complaints already regarding this. The only way you can see decently is with a combination of low beams and driving lights.
As the days became shorter, i was driving after dark and noticed that the headlights are dangerously inadequate. The low beams only project about 10 feet in front of the vehicle (even with the driving lights on) and the high beams are very dim and offer very little light immediately in front of the vehicle. When turning, there is not enough light to safely see the side road if there are no street lights. In rural areas, the dim lights make it impossible to see wildlife such as deer soon enough to safely avoid them.my crv has been returned to the dealer twice and they were able to make some adjustments to try to fix the problem. The dealerhas told me that customers have complained about poor lighting for many years and nothing has been done. I have purchased high output bulbs and the improvement has been minimal. I have called honda and asked how i could obtain the better headlights that are available in europe and been told that i cannot. Ihave asked if driving lights could be left on with the high beams and told no.the dealer offered to install post-market non-honda headlights for me but honda told me that i would void my warranty. Honda customer service told me that she was not aware of any headlight complaints however many complaints are readily available on the internet. She took down my information and entered it into a computer and i have heard nothing back - that was a month ago.something needs done about these headlights - someone is going to be seriously injured and obviously honda does not care. This should be a simple fix as i know they have better headlights for this vehicle in the european market.
The headlights on this vehicle do not provide adequate illumination.we reside in a rural suburban area and the headlights do not give off sufficient illumination to properly see the road conditions.we are reviewing/consideringaftermarket lighting to correct this situation.
Hi beams are very ineffective and dangerous. They shine too high and light up the trees but not the road ahead. Live in a very rural area with many deer and this is of concern. If the dealer lowers the beam then that makes the low beams worse where they were ok. So adjusting the height of the hi beam is not the solution as it then makes the low beam too low. It's more a design flaw with the reflectors i believe. Only really noticed the issue once we changed daylight savings time and i started driving more at night on rural roads. Which now being winter is more and more common for me so it is a concern when having to use the hi beams.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the low beam headlights were not bright enough to see while driving at night. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for an inspection. The failure was not reported to the manufacturer. The failure and current mileage was 120.the consumer stated the low beams were inadequate to drive safely at night. The high beams must be used to see the road in normal night driving conditions.updated 07/30/13
The bright lights are aimed at tree tops and cant be adjusted. You cant see theroad surface when lights are on high beam. Also need to have running light on when using low beams. Bad lights.
Low beams do not remain on when high beams are activated, leaving poor visibility near the front of the vehicle.
Brand new 2013 honda crv. Worst headlights ever on any car i have owned. Nighttime visibility is horrible. Went back to dealer and they acknowledged problem but claimed inability to do anything about it. Contacted honda in california several times and they assigned a case number. Replaced the stock bulbs with higher intensity ones and achieved marginal improvement. Only a question of time before people start dying because of this horrible honda design. Please make honda recall these defective cars and fix them.dealer told me i should have test drove car after dark so that i would not have bought it. Other dealer told me honda sells 300,000 of these cars a year some of them are bound to be defective. Internet is loaded with crv owners like me with the same complaint. Please look into this. Go get one of these cars and drive it. Come drive mine if you want.
Low beams & fog lights work well . But the high beams are awful // using high beams we have a 30 to 40 yard field of darkness in front of us .could not see if anything or anyone ran in front of the car . Very dangerous. Dealer says the lights are working normally nothing can be done. Honda should do something about this dangerous situation.
It is not safe to drive at night!i have purchased a 2013 honda crv ex awd in december 2012. I test drove my car and purchased it around 12 noon so that is why i did not get a chance to test the head lights. Unfortunately, they give you a very poor visibility, especially, it's high beams are even worst than the low beams. When you drive at night you don't feel safe and must use your fog lights!!!! it is sad but true... I hope that honda will notice the problem and replace those terrible head lights.
Engaging the honda cr-v high-beams on a dark road drastically diminishes visibility immediately in front of the vehicle and out about 25 feet.while the high-beams illuminate street signs and tree tops a great distance ahead of the vehicle,close-in lighting is dangerously lacking making for unsafe driving conditions.when the high-beams go on, the low-beams go off and there is almost no illumination close in.other 2012 / 2013 cr-v owners have complained about this on various internet websites including www.crvownersclub.com and www.edmunds.com.there appears to be no fix from the dealer or honda at this time.
I purchased a new honda 2013 crv.i did test drive the car during the day.i was very surprised that at night in order to drive safely i have to use my high beams 8 out of ten times.if i have the exterior lighting set to auto the high beams come on automatically. I have rarely if ever used the high beams on my older car that i traded in. Honda needs to fix the exterior lighting on the crv.i can not continually drive with my high beams on.
I am hoping, that by bringing this to your attention, something can be done to fix the poor headlights on honda crvs.. We have had many 1990-1991 honda accords that didn't seem to have an issue with headlights.wehave a 2006 honda crv, and now own a 2013 honda crv. The headlight lamps would burn out often on the 2006 crv figuring the age and about 250,000. But on checking out possible solutions for our 2013 lack of good lighting at night, i found these blogs on the links below. So this is not a new problem and the safety issue is a bigone! do we need an accident or worse yet a death to get this taken care of? the 2013 headlights don't go out far enough on low beam and i don't use high beam often as it only shows the reflector lights and the road is dark in front of the vehicle! we live in deer country. And god forbid a human should be in the road and not seen as a result of high beams or low beams not working properly. Understand that where i live it can get dark at 5.00 p.m. At night during the winter. Thank you for your time and attention on this.http://m.carcomplaints.com/honda/cr-v/2013/lights/exterior_lighting.shtmlhttp://www.crvownersclub.com/forums/14-problems-issues/21314-2013-crv-high-beam-headlights.html
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated the headlights provided inadequate lighting. The contact stated that whenever the low or high beam head lamps were engaged, they would distort the night vision of the roadway. The manufacturer was notified and they informed the contact that the headlights could have possibly been a design flaw. The approximate failure mileage was 100. Updated 11/13/13*ljthe consumer stated the headlights appeared to be dismantled. The headlights were checked and their alignment was adjusted. The consumer purchase a pair of brightest halogen bulbs and not the low beam lighting is adequate. However, the high beam are still bad, as there is no illumination on the road directly in front of the vehicle for at least 100 feet, yet down the road is fine.
I purchased the vehicle from independence honda in bloomsburg, pa. It was a saturday close to closing time.the salesman and his boss were eager to make the sale, and said if you sign the papers today, name your price.all along knowing about the headlight issue/defect!i not knowing about the headlights, made the deal and paid in full.the following monday i complained about a rattle and told them to adjust the headlights.they fixed the rattle and said the headlights were within specs or specifications!i would just have to get used to them!still didn't like the insufficient visibility so i took the vehicle to a local mechanic.this mechanic said the internet is loaded with people complaining about honda's headlights.he suggested i contact the dealership.the same day i called the dealership and asked to speak to the service department manager.he said, "when the high beams are on, the low beams are off, that's just the way it is."he also said, "the lights are not the same as on a gmc vehicle."again was told - "get used to it!"my complaint -the headlights don't provide adequate lighting.it is most definitely a safety issue!it is a defect that is not being corrected.does there have to be deaths before something is done?can you tell me what recourse is available for me to get properheadlights?honda is getting away with murder!
When entering a highway on-ramp in making the turn all doors were suddenly unlocked and the front courtesy lights in the passenger compartment came on.this has now happened about 10 times when cornering.
I purchased my 2013 honda cr-v new on february 8, 2013. Today the right side headlight went out. Because of a history of problems with headlights on previously owned cr-vs, i am not looking forward to what's ahead with the headlights on this car. I have owned a new 1997 crv, and a new 2006 crv. In both previous vehicles, which were purchased new and traded with over 250k miles on each, i had recurring problems with headlights constantly going out, often one within days of the other, and especially with the 2006 crv, every 3 to 4 months. I went to several honda dealerships on numerous occasions and was always told that there was recall or persistent problem. I commute 120 miles roundtrip daily for work, and i work in a rural area, covering 6 very rural counties. Sometimes my headlight would go out while i was driving on dark, 2 lane rural highways. In the 2006 vehicle, my headlights were going out so frequently that i started buying 2 bulbs at a time so that i always had a back up bulb. This is a serious safety hazard that honda has apparently avoided fixing over the years. I am aware of the owner blogs for crv-s where many honda crv owners have complained about this. I have put family members on notice that if i am involved in an accident in my car at night and cannot speak for myself, they should pay special attention to whether my headlights were functioning properly.in addition, on this 2013 crv, neither the low beam nor the high beam head lights seem bright enough at night. Although i love the cr-v otherwise, because of this persistent problem with the headlights that i believe honda is aware of and has chosen not to repair, this will very likely be the last honda that i purchase. This is a serious safety hazard, and i would not be surprised if there is eventually a class action lawsuit against honda because of this problem.
My wife has a 2013 honda crv and is having a problem with the headlights. When she goes from low to high beams you loose most of the foreground illumination. On a dark road, when you need as much light as possible, this creates a very scary effect. There is without question a safety flaw with the headlight system. I brought the car back to the dealer but they couldn't help. I had them document on the slip that customer was not satisfied with headlight system. In my opinion, it's only a matter of time before someone is killed because of this problem. I called honda corporate last week and was provided with a case number and someone is supposed to call me back. With all the chatter on the internet regarding this issue, i'm sure they are aware of the problem. Hopefully, they will indicate exactly when this dangerous flaw in the 2013 honda crv will be properly corrected. As of today, honda has not responded.
This lighting of this vehicle is poor. The low beam lights seem adequate, but the hi-beam lights are not bright enough.compared to other cars, the hi-beams are dim.replacing the bulbs does not solve the problem, the new bulbs do not improve the lighting.. This defect is more apparent in rural settings, in areas where outside lighting is minimal/none. It can be dangerous where deer/wildife are common, as the reduced lighting limits reaction time. Searches on automotive forums reveal this problem seems common among 4th generation honda crv's (2011-2016), as it seems it is mentioned on numerous forums and topic threads.
I live in a dark mountain resort area in virginia.although somewhat better in brightly lighted city streets, on darker streets and rural areas, it is almost impossible to see at night when making a turn.both the high and lowbeam headlights are substandard and it is really dangerous to drive this car at night.this is not just my "opinion", other people have test driven my car at night and found it to be unsafe.the honda cr-v headlight problem has been well documented on the internet and many formal complaints have been registered.i have tried several times to bring these safety concernsto the attention of my local honda dealer as well as in a survey responsesent out by honda corporate.it was obvious that no one wanted to address this problem so i am bringing it to your attention in the hopes that something can be done to correct these problems before someone is badly hurt or killed.
Very little night driving done and 6 mos. Spent in florida. Defective lights discovered sometime 2013. Can only see 20 feet of road at night without using high beams. Very dangerous driving. Dealer said specs. Ok and refused to do anything to correct. Calledhonda and they recommended taking to another dealer stating they had no complaints. Several complaints on line.
The headlights on the 2013 honda crv are grossly inadequate.there is very little light on the road when the lights are on high beam.the light is very narrow and the road edge is poorly illuminated to the point that it is difficult to see our driveway when returning home after dark. My wife is afraid to drive this vehicle after dark.we have never owned a car with such poor headlights.the honda dealership says there is no recall and there is nothing they can do.at my insistence, a brighter bulb was installed and that improved things only slightly.this is our third crv and our previous models (2004, 2006) did not have this problem.in my opinion this issue should be thoroughly investigated.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact noticed that the headlights were extremely dim and were not pointing toward the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was unable to diagnose or repair the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 400.
When i turned on bright lights while driving home on a dark country road, i could not see adequately.the road is absolutely dark in front of car, and the rather dim light is instead focused far ahead in the trees.the only alternative is to switch to dim lights which light road immediately in front of car (and are -brighter" than the "bright" lights), but do not light far enough aheadto be able to avoid hitting anything (like deer) entering the road in front.i've never had lights this bad on any vehicle i've ever owned.they are quite dangerous.
I purchased this car in march 2013.i live in a very rural area with no street lights, etc. It is pitch black at night. Believe itor not, i have not driven this car after dark until just recently. When driving i could hardly see much in front of me at all. The low beams are most inadequate and the high beams are useless. The road if front of the car was barely lit up at all. It was a very scary situation, has never happened with any other car i have owned. I wentaround a curve and almost drove off the road. And it was a clear night, no rain, fog etc. I paid over $30,000.00 for this car and am afraid to drive it at night!!as safety conscious as honda is, i cannot believe that this situation is acceptable to them. It certainly isn't for me. Please, can you tell me if there is a solution to this problem ( changing bulbs, etc). I would appreciate any feedback to help resolve this dangerous situation.there really should be a recall for this safety issue. This is a terrible accident waiting to happen.
The headlights on full beam are hopelessly inadequate and are a serious danger to drivers who live in rural areas where there are no street lights. The honda dealer tried replacing bulbs but all to no avail and honda denies there is a problem. I have been wrestling with this problem since i purchased the car in february, 2013 from zimbrick honda in madison, wisconsin. The dealer has tried to help but is unable to fix.
When high beams are on, the low beams go off making it very difficult to see for 25 to 30 feet. If a child or a dog were to run in front of the auto i wouldn't have enough reaction time to avoid hitting them.
The headlights on this vehicle do not provide adequate illumination. We are reviewing/considering aftermarket lighting to correct this situation. The low beams only project about 10 feet in front of the vehicle (even with the driving lights on) and the high beams are very dim and offer very little light immediately in front of the vehicle. When turning, there is not enough light to safely see the side road if there are no street lights. The headlights are atrocious, especially on high beam.there are dark spots all over the road, in the center of the road, and the road cannot be clearly seen.it is a safety hazard.i live in utah and traveling at night, the high beam headlights are so bad i could not see a deer or other wildlife if it were directly in front of me on the road.the low beams are almost just as bad.the road is not illuminated in a safe manner.this is a universal complaint (especially on the internet) and i cannot understand why the nhtsa has not looked into this.unless on a well-lit street, the headlights are useless. The cr-v should be immediately recalled and honda should be required to remedy this situation asap.moreover, why do the cr-vs sold in europe have projector-type headlights and those sold in the us are the worst headlights ever.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Exterior paint is flaking off specificly on inside and outside angles.plastic covers on headlight are fogging and permenantly etched.
Cpsc: i1360050a. 2013 honda crv. Consumer stated that there was problems with the headlights. *lnthe consumer stated when the headlights were switched from high to low beams, most of the ground illumination was lost, especially on a dark road, when light was needed the most.
This vehicle has a significant fuel vapor sensor/valve issue.honda vehicles have had many incidents but honda inc. Does not have a solution to fix the issue.it is a safety hazard because it has to do with fuel.
When coasting at 10 to 12 mph, i press lightly on accelerator to move forward, there is no reaction. The rpm does not change, the car continues at the same speed. I must rockthe accelerator hard to get the car to pick up speed and the car will lurch forward if i give it too much gas. This is not a one time incident. It started at about1,400 miles and is progressively worse at 7,000 miles. Honda's explanation is that the transmission is at a point of waiting for the computer to either down or up shift. Yet there is no rpm change. This problem could create an accident. .
While traveling in stop and go traffic, i was fully stopped with my foot on the brake peddle. Suddenly i heard & felt the engine of my car revving up. My car catapulted forward about 20 feet hitting the car in front of me. I applied more pressure on the brake peddle but could not stop the forward momentum of my car. Both cars sustained damage. The other driver was taken to the hospital in an ambulance because she complained of head, neck & back pain.
The vehicle vibrates/juddrs during 25-35 mph when lightly accelerating from a stop.this has been happening for a long time, but i was made to notice this by a friend recently.
At a 10 mph coast i start to accelerate slowly and the engine feels like it will stall. The car does not accelerate, the rpm does not change with movement of the accelerator pedal. I have to rock the pedaltwo to threetimes to get the engine to respond and accelerate with the traffic. This is a continuing problem that the dealer on 2 occasions has been unable to detect and correct i have come close to being hit from the rear twice. The honda dealer's explanation is the transmission is waiting for the computer to tell it to " up or downshift. " if that were the case, the rpm would change when the accelerator pedal is pressed . .
High pressure fuel lines punctured and leaked fuel into engine bay and onto top of fuel tank.this was 2 seperated incindences.probable cause was by squirrels.very dangerous and expensive repair.vehicle was parked at my residence.damage discoverd as vehicle was being driven.copst to repair line from tank to engine bay $679.91
We were driving on i-81, had to slow down in left lane for traffic.accelerator failed when we tried to resume speed."econ" mode on.not sure how much we had slowed before attempting to return to highway speed.it was 3 - 5 seconds or more before accelerator "unlocked."same response in similar situations occurred a total of 13 times.different speeds, slow city roads or interstates, going straight or in a turn, always unexpected, mostly within a month's time but sometimes after a much longer interval.weather always good.last event was on april 25, 2015 (last week) with mileage at 7,000.have not used econ mode since june 11, 2014.dealer has failed to find any malfunctioning parts or systems during the 4 separate times we brought in the car to be checked for this problem.we have talked to american honda, given them a detailed diary of each acceleration failure event, and they have given us a case number.we worry that our safety and that of others may compromised because of this loss of control when we need to move quickly, and we have already had drivers around us react in dangerous ways, not understanding why we hadn't picked up speed.

Engaged parking brake the dash indicator light did not light.this was an intermittent fault (at times it would light other times would not)adjusted by dealer and intermittent fault occurred the following month.dealer is to replace entire parking brake harness/sensor.

On 4 different occasions, from being stopped and making a turn or proceeding through a stop sign, the car hesitated long enough to realize that "i should be moving by now and what is going on", then the car would jerk forward. (different degrees of jerking).felt like the transmission was slipping. Bought the car in 9-13. It happened 3 times before the first oil change 1-14.thought it was me because i was replacing a 13 year old odyssey that had a bad transmission.informed dealership at first oil change and inspection... Was told that it was normal when driving with the econsystem. Which tells me they are completely aware of the problem.and that there would be nothing for them to find unless the engine light had come on. 4th time was in 5-14.econ button was off and i was turning left into my driveway. Called the dealership and honda corp. Was told they "understood my frustration" and would do what could to find out the problem. Dealership drove the car and couldn't duplicate the problem and said the car is running"as was designed".that's right...until it doesn't. There are countless complaints on the internet over many years. Was told by honda they don't check the internet.even if that were true, what about their dealerships service centers?it is not safe! my oldest is a new driver.i thought i was buying a safe car.
I am concerned about the safety of a vehicle which can drive itself at 7 - 14 mph, faster in reverse than forward, without anyone touching the accelerator. I was parked in my 2 month old crv on my (level) driveway on a clear day. I put the car in reverse, took my foot off the brake, started to turn to look behind me, had to grab a bag in the passenger seat and had not yet touched the accelerator pedal when my car came up against another vehicle which was parked half way down the drive on the opposite side.at first i thought i had hit a dog or a child, something that moved toward me. I had no reason to think a car could travel that fast and on its own. It caused $886.00 in 'minor' damage in less than 3 seconds.this self-propelling feature was not mentioned in the manual (which i did read) nor by the dealership, who later told me the vehicle was functioning within specs and this movement was to be expected.after polling 20 people i understood there are cars which 'creep' once in gear, so i borrowed 3 different vehicles to test. First i tried my car. From a dead stop, i removed my foot from the brake and the car propelled itself at 7- 14 mph (900-1200 rpm) for 1/2 mile through my neighborhood. I repeated the trial after the car was warmed up. No change.then i tested a 2014 ford focus, a 2008 lincoln mkz, and a 2013 chevrolet equinox: same route and conditions, none moved faster than 2-4 mph. I later test drove a 2014 crv and it accelerates faster than my 2013. I have to keep my foot depressing the brake during slow traffic because the car moves before i fully release the peddle. This means the brakes are likely to wear out faster. I can't be sure how this effects the expected deceleration once the accelerator is released. I feel this idle speed is simply to fast to be deemed safe.
When driving the car feels like something is holding the movement of car, my friend is a mechanic and told me its the transmission.this happens while the care is in motion
When the car is cold at 30 mph the car vibrates.dealer reset software on transmission.did not fix problem.now they are going to replace rear driveshaft.
Shudder at idle 2013 crv. Starting 80k miles sounds like same complaint of recalled 2015 crv . Are motor mounts supposed to fail in all of this model?
Upon light acceleration on a city street my car vibrates quite strongly and feels as though the car is going to stall. This issue seems to only happen at low speeds (10-35mph). I have contacted the local honda dealer with my vin# and they deny any issue with the vehicle. After further investigation i have found numerous reports online about this very same issue and how honda is unwilling to address or fix the issue. I hope honda issue a recall soon because this amount of vibration makes me feel as if there is a lot of mechanical wear happening with every acceleration and that the car could fail at any moment.
Had vtc replaced several years back due to it being defective, and the replacement is showing identical defect this year in 2020.the loud rattling symptom occurs upon start up even if the car has been off for only an hour.
Vehicle was parked in driveway after just returning home.vehicle was in park.asmy wife unloaded items vehicle rolled backwards out of driveway striking a parked vehicle.i checked immediately afteraccident and vehicle was indeedin park.
Vibration during slow excelleration
Cr-v stalls whenfor 3-5 seconds when completing corners.appears transmission is searching for gears. Dangerous when trying to merge on to traffic.honda dealer and regional rep aare aware of problem, but refuse tofix.vehicle is still under warranty.
When going from 0-30 mph the care will shudder / judder.only happens at low speed like the transmission is try to catch.this started very early when i bought the car new.honda has two service bulletin's (15-086 and 17-040) that recognize this issue for 2013 cr-v's but won't recognize the issue for my vin #. Comments from many honda drivers is this is common across all honda automobiles with the cvt for years dating very far back.honda should back up there product.
The car seems to intermittently wobble or vibrate when driving. I have had the wheels tested and purchased new tires. I have also had the dealer upgrade the transmission software which costs $250. The problem still persists. We have less than 90,000 miles on the vehicle and transmission. I have tested this over clean, new roads and the vibrating continues. This has continued for months.
I started my crv on 10/23/19 and started on my way to work.when i got about 200 yards i noticed that the check engine light, abs light, and the transmission fluid lights were.i called schlossmann honda city milwaukee, wi, asked for service department said i wanted to make an appointment.i explained what lights were on the dash and indicated they just came on this morning.they said that i could drop off the car that afternoon.dropped off car on 10/23/19 at 3:45pm.left jessica lange called me back at 5:00pm and told me the timing belt had to be changed because it was stretched.this happens.cost to have this done was $1988.34.i only have 50988 miles on my crv.the cost was outrageous.i am 58 and have owned many vehicles.i have never had to replace a timing chain with this few miles.i think this is ridiculous.especially because honda new about this problem in previous models and never fixed it.ido love my honda but i willnever buy another one and will get rid of this one before i reach 100,000 miles.hopefully thereplacement timing chain will last that long.
When starting the car in cold (50 degrees f or lower) or falling temperatures, with a cold engine (not run for at least 8 hours), i hear what sounds like a cranking sound from the engine compartment after the engine starts.the cranking sound lasts less than a second and sounds like severe vibration of a part with screws/components that have come loose.i've recorded the sound and have the file available.the sound does not occur with a warm engine.
Intermittent problem happened 4 times over 2 weeks while driving new vehicle(just purchased new) about 30 miles.eco button is on.from full stop, when i step on gas pedal get a 1-2 sec hesitation; no engine rev up, no acceleration.foot is not on the brake at time of gas pedal hesitation.it's a safety problem in traffic or especially when turning left in traffic.local honda dealer tells me this is a known problem to honda and honda is working on solution and recall repair.
Just before coming to a full stop or accelerating from a stop a grinding noise coming from the rear of the all wheel drive vehicle.dealer identified problem and is to replace the rear differential.
Judder, akin to driving on the rumble strips alongside a highway. Happens when slowly accelerating between 20-30 mph. Purchased the vehicle in 10/2016.
Honda 2013 crv will vibrate @ 25-35 mile speed feel like when its shifting to 3rd its having problem to switch gears from 2nd to 3rd , once its above or close to 40 mile speed , its ok, runs good. (all oils and spark plugs are clean, also all filters).started noticing this problem on 100816and its been gradually more noticeable , everyday little by little.
Vtc actuator issue nhtsa service bulletin 16-012. This should be a product recall from honda.
Transmission jerks between 25 to 30 mph.this happens with ever take off.it happen when starting from a stop or if i have slowed down below 25 mph and as i exhilaratethe transition jerks between 25 to 30 mph.
From a stop. I speed up to about 30 mph and feel a drag and shimmy at that speed, then it goes away.the problem only occurs at 30 mph,i have watched you-tube for possible troubles.
2013 honda crv.consumer writes in regards to brake transmission shiftinterlock recall notice and unsatisfactory customer service at dealership.
When speeds of 65+ mph are reached the 2013 honda cr-v steering wheel vibrates and shakes violently while traveling at high speeds on the highway. This makes the ride very scary and seem uncontrollable at times. As i have read on many forums, this is a very common occurrence with these vehicles. The dealership service department has not had an answer to why this is happening and told me "that this is a common thing with cr-v's". Honda even put out a video basically stating that they fixed this problem with their new line of cr v's in 2017. I believe it's an unbalanced drive shaft, due to fact that the tires have been balanced 3 times, 2 alignments in a 3 month period and a friend of mine had the same issue and that's what fixed his along with other people on honda forums stating the same issues a stated above and repair methods. I hope someone can get to the bottom of these very common issues.
We returned from shopping and parked car in driveway (approximately 30 degree incline).went behind to unload back and the car rolled back on us about 4-5 feet at least.we have since been able to duplicate this twice.the car is fully in park with the engine off when this happens.the only injury (thank god!) was my back which was just thrown out a little due to trying to get out from behind the car before it ran over me.my husband twisted his knee a little, but appears okay otherwise.because it is sunday, i cannot reach anyone to report to the dealer (bommarito honda), but have sent them a message demanding they tow the car and get me a loaner immediately.neither of us will get in this car again.i'm very concerned there may be others at serious risk right now!
In low acceleration vehicle shudders, i need to either i need to change the gear to d3 or need to take out my leg from speeding peddle. It is very annoying. I tried with eco mode off as well, still the same issue. It is happening from several years.
The transmission shudders and shakes under light acceleration when shifting between second and third gears.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 30 mph, the gear shifted from drive to neutral without warning. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, turned off and restarted. The contact drove home and later took the vehicle to a local dealer who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to another local dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The failure recurred several times, but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 35,787.
Previously reported known honda problem with vtc actuator at cold start up.notified dealer and american honda.appears honda is dragging their feet regarding a resolution.as this can affect the long term reliability of the power train this needs to be addressed.
My gear shifter moves forward without depressing the side release with minimal force. I am concerned that a child or someone reaching across console could put the vehicle into gear. This has also occurred while driving when i pressed the shifter inadvertently with minimal force,. My vehicle report states that there are no unrepaired items when i checked nhtsa which prompted my report,
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I started to notice a croaking (sounds like a frog) noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when lightly accelerating from a stop in drive or reverse and right before i come to a complete stop. I have had this vehicle for a year, which i purchased new and this sound started after 11 months of ownership. I took my vehicle to the dealership where it was determined that the noise is coming from a noisy rear differential pump motor (part of the awd system) per a manufacturers tech line summary article. Per the dealership and manufacturer, the manufacturer is aware of this problem and is currently working on a fix, but does not have one to date. Manufacturer has instructed dealerships not to replace any rear differential pump motors at this time.
Loud whine, driveshaft replaced
This car developed a major vibration while accelerating at low speeds (around 20-30 mph) around 65,000miles. The steering wheel shakes and passengers can feel the car "shudder". I was told it needed a software update and transmission fluid changed. This was done and now at 100,000 miles the vibration is back and honda is refusing to repair it. States the extended the warranty to 80,000 miles for this known problem but since its over 100,000 it would be out of pocket.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle would shake and rattle while at a stop light and in the drive/reverse position. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was not determined and it was informed that the vehicle was functioning as designed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 27,000.
Vibration during acceleration at or above 1500rpm
While driving around 30 mphcar begins to jerk and vibrate.have to increase speed to make it stop.1
When car is idle overnight or long periods, starting the car, there is a loud noise when turning the key in the ignition.took to mechanic and was told honda is notorious for this problem.was told it's the vtc actuator.
We traded in a 2005 honda crv for a 2013 honda crv.the 2005 was diagnosed with a transmission problem at 70,000 miles. The 2013 started with the same symptoms as the 2005 after owning it for 1 1/2 years.the car would shake and vibrate between 1st and 2nd gear. I described the problem the same ways i described the problem in the 2005 crv.we took it to the dealership and they could not duplicate the problem.they told us it would have to get worse.last month it got worse: it would happen several times per day. The shaking was so violent for up to 10 seconds that i didn't feel safe driving it.the car was at the dealership for three weeks and was finally diagnosed with a torque conversion defect.today i found out that honda motor company has known about the shaking problem going back to 2002.their customer service department said they have not issued any bulletins because it's not a safety issue. They also said that they had a you tube video about it. It appears now that the 2005 crv we traded in actually had a torque conversion problem, not a bad transmission.i paid and extra $18,000 for a car that i didn't need. At what point does honda motors inform the consumers and dealers about this issue?what can i do about this withholding of crucial information?thank you for your time.

2013 honda cr-v.consumer writes in regards to vehicle hesitates when gear shifts into drive, responds normally after several seconds, dealership unable to duplicate issue.
Awd light went on for two days. Light then stayed off. Took it to honda, they want to replace solenoid assembly.
Honda service bulletin 17-040. Honda dealer is refusing to fix the issue, stating my vehicle is not under warranty. Car is 2013 with 56k. Should be covered by this bulletin, and honda customer service and dealer is refusing service coverage. The car violently shakes if not fully accelerating between 20-30 mph.
Vehicle shakes and stutters when accelerating between 0-30 mph, which is apparently a known and common issue.
Vtc actuator makes loud grinding noise upon startup. Many reports onlineit is not clear what the long term effects will be.
Tsb a15-086 describes transmission issue of vehicle when shifting between 2 and 3 gears under light acceleration.took it to dealership in 2/17dealer replaced fluids worked smooth for a week and started again.dealer claims they did multi point inspection before and after fluid change.but only discovered torque converter issue today.wants 1500.00 to replace torque converter software update and fluid replacement was temporary fin lasted a weeking showed tsb says not part of issue is posted all over multiple honda forums.
Every time my car accelerates it shakes and sputters as if it is going to shut off until i reach a speed over 20 mph.this happens at the initial start of a drive and any time i come to a complete stop.
Especially when cold under light acceleration, the vehicle will shudder. I think it is when it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. Took it to the dealer for normal service and asked them to check this issue. Went to pick it up and was told they confirmed the issue. They told me the issue was reported in later models and a possible fix was to change the transmission and rear differential fluid and update the software. It would not be covered by the honda 5 year/60k mile powertrain warranty or the extended warranty purchased when we bought the car new. I was charged $88.00 just for them to confirm the issue and also honda was aware of the issue. Since they said it would only possibly fix the car at a cost to me of around $300.00 and there were no fault codes, i opted to forego the procedure. After i got home i found numerous reports of this problem on user forums. I also found a link to print the honda service bulletin sb 15-086, dated august 18, 2016. That was stated for crv model years 2012-14.hopefully the problem will not result in a catastrophic failure, causing injury or damage. Honda evidently does not believe it could or there would be a recall.
Torque converter on transmission needs to be replaced at 66,000 miles although systems have existed for almost 2 years, but just now diagnosed
The vehicle vibrates/juddrs during 25-35 mph when lightly accelerating from a stop.this has been happening for a long time, but i was made to notice this by a friend recently.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle failed to down shift. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 2,900.
When i shift from parking to reverse i hear a loud clunking sound.
When the vehicle is in motion and shifts from first to second gearanywhere between 20-25mph there is a vibration that appear to come from the transmission. I have visited the dealer several time trying to resolve this matter.the first time they told me fluid was needed, the secondthe transmission fluid, need to be changed. The 3rd time they needed a code to identify the problem, the forth time they upgrades the computer system.all these changes have improved the problem for a couple of weeks only.i reported this problem to company in california. The problem still present.
There is a tsb out that says the fluids need to be changed and a software update applied. The original symptom is the vehicle shudder at start of acceleration and during shifts between 2nd and 3rd. Paid for service still have problem honda dealer in hollywood florida 2 days after service still same problem. Went back to dealer tells us its torque converter but not covered.question is why didn't they test v drive vehicle after service work.been to severaldealerships to test drive used crv between model treat 2012 to 2014 all have same issues.car travels 80 percent city streets along same route past this honda dealership 2 times daily.checked several honda forums and various years all posting issues does not matter if lx ex exl or 2wd or and models everyone posts sane issues.havre even retired driving pinky eco mode or normal mode same issue so software update and fluid change resolved no issues.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the vehicle would vibrate without warning. The vibration would stop once the contact began to drive above 25 mph. The contact had taken the vehicle to two separate independent mechanics who were unable to diagnose the failure. The contact had minor repairs performed on the vehicle by each mechanic; however, the failure persisted after each repair. The dealer nor the manufacturer have yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Seat belts are fraying on passenger side
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 5 mph, the contact rear ended the preceding vehicle. The seat belt failed to restrain the contact and her head struck the steering wheel. Medical attention was not received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was driven to the dealer and they did not find anything wrong with the seat belts . The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,500.
The contact owns a 2013 honda crv. The contact stated that the headrest could not be adjusted and was very uncomfortable. The contact was told that they should lean the seat back to relieve pressure. The dealer told the contact that the vehicle was designed based on nhtsa safety standards. The contact also stated that the center console would sit too high and was becoming a safety hazard because they could not climb over the console in the event of an emergency. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 75. Updated 4/29/13updated 05/24/2013
Bad angle on the headrest and cannot be adjusted.costing me time off work and physical therapy.not very safe after all if you keep driving with neck and back pain.definitely will sell car asap specifically because of that.
Car purchased brand new in 2013. Brought the car for an inspectionat a local shop on 1/7/17. 18,000 miles on the car, which is mostly garaged. Shown that brakes and rotors were completely rusted out and needed to be replaced! had it repaired at the local shop. We are in possession of the worn out brakes for evidence. Notified dealer (donald moorehead at moorehead honda in newburgh ny) and the honda corporate office on 1/9/17. Got the runaround. Case number with honda is #05592593 given by klia.
When parking brake was not released, there was no brake light and no beeper sounds (according to the manual, i checked later).
Car sat for 10 days,i returned vacation, cs knocking type of noise when braking.brought it in to honda dealership in everett, maon june 6, 2013, tech - rust on rotors, needs to be driven.i still have the knocking sound.rust on a 2013 honda, parked for 10 days in may????i intend to drive it for 1 more week and bring it in again should this knocking type of noise persists when braking.
I own a 2013 honda cr-v was very happy with my car until my recent flat tire. Does anyone know that the tpms (low tire sensor) is connected to the brakes? me neither. Recently i had flat tire and had the spare put on until i could get it replaced. Only a couple of days to the weekend to wait, so i didn't have to take time off of work. Had the tire fixed and all was good; tpms warning light off. Well, that's what i thought. About three days later my brakes started failing as i was driving. There was a loud noise and jerking of the car when i pressed the brakes. I slowed to about 15-20mph and it stabilized the car.i slowed down to a crawl and happened to be a couple of blocks from a dealer which is on my way to work. Got the car there without incident and told them what happened. The result after their inspection and fixing my car was: faulty tpms sensor. According to the dealer, the tpms sensor failed which caused my brakes to go out...what, the tpms sensor is connected to my breaks. So. What your telling me, mr. Dealer, is that if one of four tpms sensors goes out, the brakes on my car will fail.what the hell honda. This is a safety issue as far as i'm concerned. No only did my brakes fail because of the tpms but the dealer charged me $500 to replace this sensor which runs onabattery and is likely to happen at any time x4, because i have four tires.
Went to 802 honda berlin vermont for 30,000mile service they informed me i needed rear brakes,i said repaire them.i have owned two otheir honda crv. An neaver replaced brakes before 45000 miles.$439.21.
I don't even have a year with my car and the brakes keep squishing squiringi cant believe this is happening to a brand new car. I took it to the dealer and the resurface the front rotors and the noise was still there when i test the car after the service. Itook it back and the resurface the back rotors and the noise went away for a while but now the noise is back i am going to take to the back to the dealer first weekend of may 2014. I am tired of this noise.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated while attempting to drive through a car wash, the vehicle would not stop while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle crashed into a wall. The contact was not injured and a police report was not filed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing master brake cylinder replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While driving 28 mph and coming to a stop, the brakes failed and the vehicle would not stop. The contact had to downshift the vehicle in order to stop. This failure was a recurring issue. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,400.
Taken to lancaster, cahonda and they said front rotors have become warped/heated. Need to resurface rotors and clean and re-lube front brakes pads. Front brake pads at 7mm.having under twenty thousand miles, was told this would cost me $120.00.i feel this has a defective braking system and should be takencare of by honda, not charged to the customer.
There is a knocking type of noise when braking, brought the car to dealership in roswell, ga could not duplicate the problem. The noise still occurring intermittently, no a good sign for a new car.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. When applying the brakes for the first time each day, a grinding noise emitted from the rear brakes and then the grinding noise would cease until the next day. The contact indicated that the failure eventually progressed to where the grinding noise was present the first three times the brakes were applied and then the noise would stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the noise was caused by rust build up behind the rear rotors. The rotors were cleaned and the failure was solved. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 13,900.
Twice when i tried to stop while moving slowly on the highway the car's brakes failed to do so. Once they went to the floor. Dealer could find nothing wrong.
Vehicle was 14 months old and was driven every 1-2 days. Vehicle had to be towed to dealership after a caliper "froze" to the right rear rotor after sitting overnight in the garage. Dealer reported that all four rotors were heavily oxidized and kept insisting that the car must have been sitting for many weeks or months. Dealer claimed there was nothing wrong with the brake pads and only resurfaced the rotors. Dealer repeatedly made false claim about honda maintenance requirement that the rotors be cleaned every year.
Rear brakes started making a grinding noise when first time applied each morning.slowly condition kept getting worse, but after no more than three applications of brakes, condition ceases for that day only to re appear the next day.i thought it might just be a cold weather condition.however, having just returned from southern florida for six weeks with the condition continuing, i took it to the local honda dealer upon my return on march 12, 2015.they told me this was a normal service condition caused by rust build up behind the rotors and needed to clean the brakes every 20,000 miles. I told them i have owned numerous cars in the last 60 years putting over 100 kmiles on several and never heard of this condition.i have also contacted honda corporation hotline and they would not confirm or deny this to be a service condition.
While driving on a snowy road, approximately 20 mph, i attempted to brake. Brake pedal would only push in part way and clicked loudly. Car did not respond at all to brake pedal being pushed. I tried repeatedly to press the brake pedal but was met with only very loud clicking, pedal did not appear to go in as far as normal and no response from car whatsoever by slowing down. Debated whether to push parking brake in or try putting car into lower gear when i braked yet again and finally car responded. Braking was obvious and immediate.i went back to the same stretch of road and attempted to recreate problem, but car clicked quietly and braked immediately. Am concerned that abs system was fighting for control and therefore car did not brake at all. Roads were snowy and a bit slick, but not icy. This occurred over an area of about 100-150 ft.where i attempted repeatedly to brake and had no response whatsoever.i am scared to drive my car again in snowy weather. I have owned many vehicles, including those with abs and have driven in the snow and have never had a car not respond at all. It was like the brakes were not engaging.
The rear brake pads and rotor on the passenger rear tire were destroyed in less than 2,000 miles and replaced with new parts twice from different manufacturers.a third set of rotor and brake pads and a caliper was installed and they failed within 2 weeks.the car has less than 78,000 miles on it and i have been the only owner.the honda dealership replaced the rear driver side caliper, pads, and rotor at 35,000 miles for a similar problem.
Pressing on the brakes in slippery conditions like snow causes the antilock brakes to lock up and the car to skid.this happens at all speeds- even as low as 15mph.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While driving at various speeds and when the brake pedal was depressed, the rotors vibrated continuously until the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While driving 15 mph, the power steering malfunctioned and made the steering wheel extremely difficult to maneuver. The steering warning light illuminated and then dimmed once the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 41,630. Updated 05/06/16*lj
With no previous symptoms or problems, yesterday backing our of parking stall i could not turn steering wheel; dash power steering warning light was on. Turned off and restarted car but light stayed on.called service mgr at dealership i bought it from who said to bring it in. At dealership took picture of dash light and had svc mgr confirm the light was, in fact, on.left overnight for service.today, service mgr and tech said light did not come on and steering was normal when started this am.tech noted a slight drop in voltage but still waiting for diagnosis.luckily i was parked when the problem occurred, but his is a very serious health and safety issue that could have disastrous result should it recur in fast moving traffic.honda needs to find a permanent fix for this immediately.
The vehicle intermittently became very difficult to steer at low speeds and the steering indicator light would come on for short periods of time. This nearly resulted in accidents on several occasions. The owner took the vehicle to a dealer, but the technician stated that he could not replicate the problem. The technician then advised the owner to continue driving the vehicle to see if the problem would recur. The owner found this advice to be unacceptable and questioned what might happen if the problem recurred. The technician then elevated the issue to the manager, who was able to isolate a trouble code. The owner was informed that no one at the dealership knew what the trouble code meant, and that the dealer would have to consult with honda corporate for guidance. The owner was then informed that honda corporate recommended the replacement of the power steering rack. This repair was performed at significant cost to the owner. Neither the troubleshooting process nor the associated trouble code were recorded on the work documentation presented to the owner. The vehicle steering felt stiff afterwards, then twice exhibited a failure mode in which the steering indicator light illuminated and the steering system appeared to hit a premature hard stop part way into a low-speed turn, forcing the vehicle wide.both of these incidents nearly resulted in accidents, but the owner quickly spun the steering wheel towards center, then back into the direction of the turn. The process of re-centering the steering wheel appeared to temporarily clear the premature hard stop, and the owner was able to complete the turn. These incidents occurred during low-speed turns (roughly 10mph) on local streets and parking lots in the austin area. Repair invoice for the power steering rack available upon request. This complaint was filed by a family representative on behalf of the owner.
There are two concerns. 1. The ignition key becomes extremely hot, almost burning temperature when held in bare hand. There seems no correlations to the length of time the car is driven or the outside conditions. Thia does not happen all the time.2. Both my husband and myself have received painful "static electric" shocks when entering and exiting the vehicle. This can happen even in warm weather.i have brought this to the attention of the dealership and they say there is nothing they can do about the shocking and that the key getting hot is not a problem.
Steering locked while driving my 2013 honda crv.my car is kept in excellent condition and on 07-28-19 driving down my street and power steering went out.also drivers window stopped going up and down. Then started again. Drove few more feet and steering went out again.car was driving down a city street on a strait street no turning. Car had be be towed to service.
My wife was pulling out of the parking lot and she felt the steering to be very stiff andimpossible to steer, she stopped right there and the little yellow steering light on the dash came on. This could be a serious safety issue had it failed while she was driving on a busy road not to mention she had our kid in the car while this happened. We got the car towed to the dealership immediately and waiting for their response.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While driving various speeds, there was a knocking noise coming from the steering column and the steering wheel became hot. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 23,000.
The problem has been happening since the car was purchased new.the car continually chews up tires on the rear end of the car.for example, we purchased a brand new set of tires in july of 2017, and already they are cupped/chopped. I had the car into our local alignment shop as we are preparing for a trip, and less than 10,000 miles later are so out of balance that they are showing signs and making noise to the point of i questioned what was happening.i suggested that they do a four wheel alignment and was told that the camber is way out of adjustment and that i needed a camber bolt kit.the car only has 84,000 miles and has been well cared for and no accidents. Here is the biggest issue.the car comes stock with rear control arms that are non adjustable.there is no way to control camber on the rear wheels.there are adjustable ones that can be purchased, but that costs consumers a ton of money.$500 or so total that is not covered by any warranty.the obvious danger is excessive wear on tires that potentially could cause bad steering, braking, and/or control of the vehicle.as far as my experience, i have had to be extremely vigilantabout making sure my tires are not in bad shape 100% of the time.the dealer has basically walked away from it, in spite of the fact i purchased an extended warranty which is still in effect.i my opinion, the honda corporation should have a recall that would address the issue by replacing the stock nonadjustable control arm with an adjustable one.this could save them a ton of issues down the road and make their cars much safer.
I went out saturday morning started the car and the steering malfunction light was on and i had no power steering (eps). I called the dealer they said they couldn't help until tuesday (monday holiday) so it isn't fixed yet.
A rodent built a nest in the blower motor of our 2013 honda cr-v.the rodent nest affected the operation of the motor, and caused rodent contaminated air to be circulated throughout the cabin.this health hazard could have been avoided by installing screening that would prevent rodents from entering the blower motor.the screening is technologically and economically feasible for honda motor company, ltd. ("honda").in addition to the safety hazard, honda refuses to cover, under warranty, service and repairs for blower motor damage caused by infiltrating rodents despite the design defect.after reviewing complaints available on the internet, it appears that there are many consumers that have been similarly affecting by the design defect, and by honda's unwillingness to take responsibility for the defect.

Paint peeling off and clear coat cloudy. Has been happening slowly over the life of the car.
When entering a highway on-ramp in making the turn all doors were suddenly unlocked and the front courtesy lights in the passenger compartment came on.this has now happened about 10 times when cornering.
When the weather iscold, my cargo lift will not open.i have taken my vehicle in to the local dealership and they pretty much thought i was crazy.even my husband can't get the lift to open when the weather is cold.
Driver's door lock makes a loud rattle upon locking, sounds like a machine gun.rear left door can only be manually locked or unlocked, does not work with the remote or will not lock or unlock automatically.
Drivers door lock makes a loud, grinding sound when the door is locked. Unable to lock the vehicle. Door lock actuator replaced, lasted one day, problem came back.rear left door lock does not open or close using the remote. It must be manually opened or closed.
Honda paint is stripping right off the body. Honda paint is fading and losing metallic finish.honda paint has other recalls but not my make and model.
Door locks on 2013 honda crv are not working.sometimes they work soooo well...i can't even unlock the door !!!! and sometimes they don't work at all.in the process of replacing actuators,,,,have replaced 4 of 5 doors. Each replacement is about $200-$250.i learned through research that recall was in effect for crv from 2007-2011.obviously, honda hasn't solved the problem.
Continuous problem with rear hatch not opening when cold outside; i live in mich. Thus have cold winters; no problem when warm.problem started in 2017. I pd to have it replaced 12/28/17; fail again 12/10/18 dealer replaced as under warranty; failed again 12/10/19 out of warranty(frm 12/28/17)- so honda won't fix. In reviewing internet the latchproblem is an issue with many other consumers when cold o/s. Filed a complaint with honda - then pandemic hit--just now reopening complaint- case#10291529- & as this appears to have been a constant complaint frm many others;honda has issued a service bulletin 16-063 to address the problem and supposedly have a redesigned latch. But it only cover vehicles under warranty. Thus i will have to pay to get the new improved part, when the original and replacement part were1 bad in the past.. Not being able to get into the rear/truck of your car is a safely hazard in the winter-rear truck is where you keep the spare tire, emerg. Supplies, etc. (& store items /groceries,luggage,etc )
I got into my car and because the weather was nice, i turned off the air conditioner and lowered the back windows.i entered the interstate highway, and when my speed reached 40 mph, a loud roar came from the back of the car and the back started shaking and vibrating.i was scared and pulled off the road. I thought the suspension or the wheels/tires had failed.i made a visual inspection and could see no problem.a honda dealer was near, so i slowly drove to their service bay.when i told my problem to a woman at the service desk she immediately told me that it wasa compression problem that all of these vehicles had when the back windows were down.i asked if the salespersons were supposed to tell the customer about this problem and she said no.
This vehicle has 24,000 miles and the rear struts failed.because of the struts failure the vehicle bounces and does not ride normally.

There is a knocking type of noise when braking, brought the car to dealership in roswell, ga could not duplicate the problem. The noise still occurring intermittently, no a good sign for a new car.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.
On 2/10/2014, around 8:50 am est i was alone and driving to the office when my car skidded and i lost control. Due to the momentum the car had gained, it went into a free spin.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While driving 20 to 30 mph, the front end of the vehicle shook during acceleration. An independent mechanic replaced the axle on the front passenger side, but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken to priority honda (621 n battlefield blvd, chesapeake, va 23320, (757) 213-6600) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer speculated that the axle could be the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that there would be an abnormal noise coming from the rear end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer twice where the failure was unable to be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.
While driving, i thought the engine was revving due to the sound that i was hearing. I went for an oil change, at 10,000 miles, and mentioned the noise to the adviser. I told him the sound started at about 9500 miles and appeared to be getting louder at 10,000 miles. I was told it wasn't anything to do with the engine, transmission or any other components other than a wheel bearing on the front driver side. No one looked at the area to determine if it was indeed the wheel bearing. My tires were rotated along with the oil change. I was told my tires were fine and wearing evenly. Nothing was checked or done to specifically see or know it was/is a wheel bearing. I had to remind the adviser about the noise i had been hearing. My car was test driven by the foreman to hear the noise. He drove it on the highway, i was in the car. He started swerving the car. He then stated it was definitely a wheel bearing. My vehicle is under warranty and when i mentioned the possibility of the other bearings going, he said unlikely but would check the front passenger wheel bearing. The part wasn't in stock and has to be ordered and i had to make an appointment for 09/17/2013 to have them check/repair the wheel bearing(s).seems odd for the wheel bearings to go after only about 9500 miles.
I had a tire that kept loosing air.this went on for over a month.when i took it in to have the tire checked for a problem.the guy looking at my tire came back and said i had little holes all the way around center tread of my tire.he told me that if that one was dry rotted then possible some of the others were also.i decided to replace the whole set.upon pulling off the other tires i had two more tires like that in the same condition.i am just thankful this was caught before i had a wreck.i drive the interstate a lot.i was very disappointed that i had to replace a set of tires and didn't even have 30,000 miles on them.
Having this problem since june 2015. Already have purchased two tensioner and now 1 pulley. Since i have gone over the warranty is over 12,000, i drive 4k miles a month. Ihave it back to the shop still making a strange sound when i take off and drive between 20-40 mph. Nowbrought it back saying product is defective again. How many time is the product going to be defective. Whats really happening
2013 honda crv with 27,000 miles has been making grinding noises when starting the engine in cold weather. This started about a year ago and was not happening each time. It seems temperature related. We called our dealer who said this problem was known by honda and that honda was working on it and we would be contacted by the dealer once honda had a solution. They seemed to know exactly what was causing the problem and admitted that other customers had called with exactly the same complaint. From what we have seen online, this problem has been around for a while and there has been no resolution from honda. In the meantime, because oil is not getting to this part in the starter, we can only assume that this part is being worn down. This problem is known by honda yet it appears nothing is being done to replace the part. This seems like a problem that would require a recall. We will continue to contact our dealer here in bend, oregon, so that we can keep our concern documented and on the table.
The heat -system has never worked properly. This includes the windshield defrost mode that does not clear the windshield for safe visibility. . hot air will only blow out of the passenger side vents and cold air blows out of the driver side vents. The windshield does not defrost enough for good safe visibility. Honda corp.and dealers know about this issue on 2012 to 2017 models and is avoiding any recall or offer to fix this safety issue.please help us to get this fixed so these cars are safe to drivein cold months. Thank you.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The heat from the driver side is lower than the heat from the front middle and passanger side vent. A service bulletin has been created for this sb 14-063. This should be a recall because it is very unsafe. The driver side blows cold air not hot at all and the deforester does not work. N ow that it is winter it is impacts visibility and is dangerous.
My back righ door does not open form the inside or outside. Something is wrong with the locking mechanisim.i have also had issues with the back hatchdown not latching.suddnely startied happening.waitign to hear about my extended warranty. Its seems like a sefery issue to me, since kids cant exit the car on the correct side at school.were recalls on same issue in previous years.
Car stutters at low speeds (approx 20-30mph). This could cause a collision if you are not able to accelerate as expected.
The air conditioner blows hot air. I took it in to dealership and they stated that it is cooling correctly.check air system stated nothing is wrong. I am asthmatic patient and this cause me to have asthma attacks
Back door will not unlock. I attempted multiple times with the key fob, which has batteries and unlocked the other doors. I then tried to unlock it by pressing the unlock button on the driver's side. That did not work either. I continued to try all the other doors unlock buttons with no luck. I am unable to use the back portion of the vehicle seeing as i can't get to it. This could pose a serious issue with everyday activities from putting groceries back there to accessing my spare tire if needed.
Tsb 14-063 code. Affects the heating element. In my instance, it does not blow hot air at all. This is a known issue with honda and they have not issued a recall. This could be quite dangerous if in cold, inclement weather. Heater never switches to hot air.
Water leakage from the top of the roof to the bottom of the rear bumper.water pooled in the spare tire well and sloshed out while i was driving wetting the carpet and the back seats as i had them folded down.the seal was not properly done at manufacturer.i had it repaired but honda would not reimburse for the damage.i did not realize this had happened as i don't sit in the back seats.the carpet and seats have soured, molded and mildewed.i researchered on line to see if others had this problem and found several have and not just the 2013 models.honda has known of this problem and has not recalled nor fixed the problem.
Hesitationwhen vehicle has come to slowdown as if to stop but gas is pressed to continue, vehicle will hesitate as if it completely loses all power for a few seconds, then it will regain power. This if extremely frightening when traffic is coming. Car is in motion when this happens. It happens occasionally.
Car would not start.when the key was turned, the engine cranked slowly, then the starter only clicked.the vehicle had been used regularly (20 min drive to and from work) in the days leading up to the incident.car was jump started with another car and it started up properly. We took the vehicle into the dealer and it seems that technical service bulletin for 2012 cr-v also applied to the 2013 cr-v -- tsb 12-041.however, when i had searched the list of service bulletins for the 2013 cr-v, the issue didn't come up on the nhtsa website.i think this service bulletin should be issued for the 2013 cr-v as well.
Exterior paint is flaking off specificly on inside and outside angles.plastic covers on headlight are fogging and permenantly etched.
Bluetooth mic never worked. All you hear is static noise.
Driver's door lock makes a loud rattle upon locking, sounds like a machine gun.rear left door can only be manually locked or unlocked, does not work with the remote or will not lock or unlock automatically.
Vtc actuator fails, starts a rattle at cold start which causes increased oil consumption and stretching of the time chain. Costs thousands to replace and honda refuses to issue recall even after 100s of complaints.
The heater blows cold on the driver's side and warm on the passenger side.this appears to be a widely known issue and for whatever reason, it hasn't been recalled.this is going to cost me a lot of money to fix and it's very disappointing since it is a widely known issue.we bought a honda for the dependability and unfortunately this may be the last.
Honda paint is stripping right off the body. Honda paint is fading and losing metallic finish.honda paint has other recalls but not my make and model.
The temperature of the air coming out of the driver's side heating vents is significantly cooler than the temperature coming out of the passenger side. No adjustments to the heating controls improve this situation. It is becoming more difficult to defrost the window, which impacts visibility when driving and therefore impacts safety. I have read online that honda is not covering repair of this issue and that consumers are spending hundreds of dollars to correct a known design flaw.
Vehicle experiences shaking/judder when accelerating at speeds of 20-40 mph.
The heater core is clogged and needs to be flushed in accordance with tsb 14-063. Getting the crv to operating temperature and driving hundreds of miles has no affect getting heat. The lack of heat poses a significant safety hazard due to extreme freezing temperatures and windshield defrosting. It makes it near impossible to defrost the windshield while leaving all occupants inside the vehicle frozen.this known heater core problem is not covered under honda new vehicle limited warranty.
The awd sensor light is coming on due to the rear differential service pressure sensor. Other 2013 and 2012 models are included in this recall
Back passenger door won't unlock from inside or outside door. All passengers have to get out from drivers side. Safety concern. Just purchased vehicle 07/15/18
At times when i am trurning on the car i hear a grinding noise. I'm not sure where this noise is comeing from but it's loud and scrachy grindy. Sometime is comes on when i first start the car in the morning, but yet sometime is dose the same thing later on in the day. Some days it dose not do that noise at all, but some days it does it a few times in the day.i have asked the dealer about it but they don't know why.the form requires a date of when this happens, but there is no exact date this issue happens whenever no worning and no reason why it should happen
The car makes a griniding noise when we start it. We bought the car in december of 2015. On 2/26/2016, i was told by the dealer mechanic that hnda is aware of the situation but hasnt formulated a soultion. The honda dealer's mechanic did give me a great desription of the problem.
Kmj
Drivers side vents blows cold air when heat is on.difference between passenger and driver side is approximate 30 degrees.
When i shift from parking to reverse i hear a loud clunking sound.
Sunroof glass exploded while driving on the interstate.
2013 honda cr-v bluetooth.recipient of call hears loud noise and cannot hear me clearly.i hear them clearly. This problem has been happening within the last3 years.i was told it was a programing problem.that should be honda's issue. I am unable to use my hands free device which i specifically bought the car for because it is the law that it must be used.it puts the driver who needs to use this in danger. The dealer needs to be responsible for changing out the unit but appears not to listen to the many people who have the same issue.it should be fixed by a recall. I should not have to pay for their faulty system.
Engine rattles at early morning start up , honda aware of vtc actuator default and needs to open a recall cases to all crv made between 2012-2014
The car has failed to start several times.i have had the battery, alternater and started checked out.they are fine.it appears that the battery is not charging at the proper voltage.
A squirrel ate through my windshield washer hoses.i got the hoses replaced, then 3 months later it happened again, and i had to replace them again.one time i was moving when i discovered i had non-functioning washers, and the other time it was while my car was stationary.there is a class action lawsuit against honda for the soy-based coating honda uses, which attracts rodents.the honda service manager pretended he knew nothing about this situation, even though honda makes a rodent-deterrent tape for this very reason.although the safety factor was minimal due to never knowing whether i have functioning windshield washers unless i test them each time i turn on the car, i have read about honda owners who have had rodents eat through their main harnesses.
Ac compressor , alternator, belt is defective, replaced ,(car have just 41000 mi )
I purchased at 2013 honda crv from pohanka in salisbury md with 30k miles. The other day i noticed my driver side vents were blowing cold air with the heat on.i took the car to the dealership where they told me it was the heater core and was going to cost me 400$ i purchased bumper to bumper warranty on this vehicle which should cover that expensive but doesn't. I've done a lot of research and have found that this particular model has a tsb 14-063 which states a factory defect.factory! many crv customers have reported this problem and it has yet to become a safety recall.i can not defrost my windshield during cold temperatures or fog/humidity,that is a safety problem to me and many others who own this model.ive owned probably 15 hondas and have never had a heater core problem especially at 30kmiles.i, nor should anyone have to pay for a factory mishap.the technical service bulletin for this model needs to be passed as a safety recall immediately before someone gets in an accident.its not a if it's going to happen its when.i've read atleast 100 complaints about this specific problem and cant understands why honda wont own up to this problem and take responsibility!
Unintended acceleration. I pulled into my son's driveway. When i applied the brake the vehicle accelerated. It was heading towards the house and continued to accelerate as i increased pressure on the brake. I swerved onto their lawn; eventually major force on the brake brought the vehicle to a stop. I checked the floor mat; it was attached firmly to the floor. I am sure i was on the right pedal; i felt the brake and throttle "fighting" each other. It's the car stopped and in park i tried to see if my foot could depress both pedals simultaneously. That did not seem possible. The initial evaluation at the dealer did not reveal the cause of the problem
I have a 2013 honda crv.about 20% of the time when i put on the cruise control the car will start accelerating quickly - going from about 55 mph to 70 mph within 10 seconds or so.pushing the cancel button does nothing.i have to step on the brakes to disengage the cruise control.the main highway out of town has a speed limit of 55 mph.if i don't watch closely to make sure the car won't accelerate i can be up to 70 mph quickly and i doubt a police officer would believe my explanation.fortunately i have not gotten a speeding ticket.this was not a problem when i first got the car four months ago.it started about one month ago.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while parking, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into a cement parking chock and then into the vehicle that was parked next to the parking chock. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where the contact was awaiting the results. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.the vehicle had not been repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 1,999.
This problem could create an accident. .
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. After making a right turn in a parking garage, the vehicle accelerated and crashed into a wall. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 34,000.
My 2013cr-v car has stalled from the first day i drove it out of the lot. When on cruise control and climbing a hill it stalls by 10 miles or more.
I bought the car from tony honda brand new, from the time i starteddriving the car, the speed control would stall. If i was driving for example at 60 mph once i get to a hill, the speed control would stall, go 50 and pick up again.stalling is a dangerous situation in high traffic and high speed.i pointed out to the dealer that this was a dangerous situation, he stated there was nothing he could do; it was normal for honda crv-ex to stall.i disagreed.
" if that were the case, the rpm would change when the accelerator pedal is pressed . .
I noticed that honda crv are being recalled.my vin number was not included in the recall.when i bought the vehicle, the first day i drove it was stalling when i asked the dealer he says that was normal, stalling was ok.the other problem i have is the passenger airbag.it does not tell you when it is on, it is always off and you never know when it is on.
After i bought the car two weeks later when the car is on cruise control going uphill the car rolls back by at least 10 miles and pick up again and stalls again.when i asked the dealer what was the problem, the dealer stated it was nor mal for the car to stall. I never accepted that explanation, the car needs top be recalled along with the other cars.this is my third complaint and nothing has been done.
I purchased a certified 2013 honda crv 2 months ago. I experienced problems with acceleration and cruise control immediately. I took the car to the dealer for service but he said the techinician tested and found no issues. Since then i have recorded that the problem consistently occurs at highway speeds above 50mph. When i initially try to accelerate from about 50mph to 60, the car barely moves. It feels as if i'm not pressing the accelerator hard enough. The computer has delayed reaction and finally decides to accelerate. The car lunges ahead and accelerates too fast. This is a dangerous response. Its a good thing i'm usually on open road when this happens. The same problem happens with the cruise control. I increase the cruise control to go faster, but it doesn't change for several seconds. Then suddenly it kicks in. I'm going to return to the service department and report it as a safety risk. When i try to change lanes, and then can't accelerate to keep pace with traffic, i fear i will get in an accident. I'm glad to know that i'm not alone in registering this type of complaint.
My crv starts making noise when i accelerate the car. It only happens at the low speed.
My gas pedal got stuck while starting the car.the car revved so loud and fast until bluish smoked filled the inside of the car and came out the tail pipe.good thing the car was in park.the pedal released on it's own.after doing some research, i see that other owners of this vehicle has experienced the same thing.after taking their vehicle in, they were told they couldn't find an issue because they couldn't duplicate it at the shop.
After taking our new honda crv on its first short trip -mostly highway driving, i began to realize that on freeway driving there was a constant visual distraction with the drivers-side door rear mirror. Mainly due to the "split" from the design of the mirror.it causes a visual impairment to my peripheral vision, giving a false sense of passing cars coming" too close" to the vehicle as they pass to the right (freeway driving). This occurred multiple times about 5 times in a 120 mile drive.at one point, a car coming up along my driver's side felt so close i swerved into the emergency lane. While at the service department i asked about the driver's mirror, if this is normal for the mirror to have the "split" on it., they checked into it and said that it was.i asked if it could be switched out for a "non-split" mirror and was told it could not.i just feel this mirror has a potential dangerous visual flaw and should be reported for review.
The weather turned frigid after a unusual warm spell. As we were driving down the road we started to get some precipitation on the wind shield that the drivers side defroster was unable to keep the driver side windshield safely clear. Had to pull over several times to manually clear the windshield. Also there was virtually no heat on the driver side of the vehicle. We took the vehicle into the dealer we bought it from new. They told us the driver side heater core was plugged. I was astonished as to the low mileage on the vehicle (15,659), and it being out of warranty by 2 weeks. I believe this is a dangerous condition because of the rapid rate at which it occurs. Imagine this happening every 12-15k miles. Apparently after searching on line i found this to be an ongoing problem with certain 2012-2013 models. Honda also has a bulletin out on how to temporarily repair this design flaw. (bulletin #14-063). I know heater cores can plug up without the proper maintenance and considerable mileage on the vehicle. This in my opinion is a safety hazard due to the few miles driven before this can occur.
On all 2013 cr-vs the windshield side trim strips are not close to the windshield, allowing a water-dam effect during a rain storm.in prior years, the trim detail was different.on 2013 model years, the trim starts 1/16" away from the windshield at the top, but increases to 1/2" at the bottom.additionally, the depth of the channel under the trim strip is 1/2" or greater.at speed during a storm, when the wiper sweeps rain in the leftward arc, it is not ejected entirely from the windscreen, but is "stored" under the trim strip.when the wiper starts its right-swing, the "stored" water is pulled from its channel, thereby creating a sheet of water on the windshield which makes visibility negligible.this, of course, only happens on the driver side.the sudden and dramatic loss of visibility is a frightening safety threat.i am turning my new cr-v back to the dealer, and refuse to pay for such an unsafe vehicle.
Driving the car day after snow storm. Wind shield/rear window covered with heavy layer of salt/dirt. No fluid would come out of windshield washer nozzles/rear window nozzles.windshield was covered with so much salt that driving visibility was very limited. The nozzles worked briefly after the car was exposed to sunlight. Once the sun went down, the nozzles no longer worked. The windshield washer fluid/line appeared to be frozen. It has been very cold where we live and 5 days later no windshield/rear window washer fluid will spray out of nozzles.this is very unsafe and makes driving visibility very dangerous. The amount of salt on both the wind shield and rear window is excessive. The windows are white. How does honda plan to fix this problem??? i plan to contact honda dealer ship this week.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the magnification of the driver's side mirror was too high and caused an unclear sight of oncoming traffic. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who advised the contact that there were no parts available for the replacement. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle was performing as designed. A claim was filed with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 23. The current mileage was 2,000.
I bought a 2013 honda cr-v vehicle a few months ago.i have notice that the sun visors are too short.i had to come to a complete stop several times at sun rise and sun set because i was blinded by the sun. I have owned a honda van and a toyota care and never had this problem where i live.i called the honda dealer in frankfort, ky and they said no one else was having the problem.i call honda customer service (nation wide) and they said no one had reported the problem and wanted me to go back to the dealer in frankfort.i went on the internet and found other people have had the same problemand tried to use after market solution which is a visor extender.i am 5' 8" tall.i would need to be over 6 feet in order for the visors to be effective.it either a low seat problem or a visor problem.you don't notice this when you first drive the car.i would not have bought the car if i knew about this problem. This is definitely a hazard that should be checked out.
Defroster and ventheat does not heat properly on the drivers side, passenger side works normally. Lack of proper function causes wind shield to fog and obstruct vision. Honda dealer says heater core is partially blocked causing this issue. Dealer says there is a tech bulletin about this issue. There is not a recall on this model, but it is a know problem on some cr-vs.
Both the driver and passenger visors when flipped against the windshield will not stay there but move out of position and droop vertically.becomes a real annoyance when driving towards the sun during sunrise or sunset.visited honda dealer and they acknowledged no fix for this issue.
The windshield washer on this vehicle and my daughter's similar car are a defective design. They do not work in the cold. Also the wipers are ineffective. This leads to unsafe driving conditions.
Re: tsb 14-063the heating/defrost system in my honda will only blow hot air on the passenger side. This makes it unsafe to drive as i cannot keep my windshield clear. I live in a cold environment and commute. I also cannot stay warm as the operator of the vehicle especially now (january) we frequently experience temperatures of -8 or lower.i have also learned that this isa common honda problem and has occurred in my vehicle at 40k miles. This is definitely a safety issue that honda needs to resolve.yesterday while driving only 60 miles my feet became so cold they became numb and made operating the vehicle difficult.
The contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 65 mph, the sun roof shattered without warning. The contact stated that the sun roof's glass exploded into the shade of the sun roof. The vehicle was taken to dch gardina honda in gardina, california (15541 western avenue, 90249). The dealer stated that a rock may have been the source of the failure and they were not responsible for the repair. The vehicle was repaired by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,967.
I was driving home on a major road (not a small back road) when i heard a sound like a gunshot. I immediately pulled over and found that there was a large hole in my sunroof, with spiderweb cracking coming out from the hole. The glass was flexed upwards and created a dome-like effect. I continued to drive the 2 hours home and immediately went to a local honda dealership. The service man took pictures and proceeded to tell me that if something had fallen onto the sunroof, the glass would've crashed into the car, not flexed up and out like mine did. A few days later, the service man called and said after sending honda the pictures, they decided i must've damaged the sunroof somehow, causing it to crack, meaning honda would not take responsibility for it. I then proceeded to call the dealership where i bought the brand new car 6 months ago. In talking to the sales manager, he told me that if i was driving down the highway, it would be near impossible for something to fall on my sunroof to cause a damage. It would've hit my windshield, or just flown over my car. He said there was nothing he could do and i could call honda directly. I did. My case representative proceeded to "look into it", which entailed a mumbling man telling me he may or may not get back to my claim by january 21st. When i heard back from them, he had called the first dealership and then reported that they felt like there was damage to the sunroof, meaning honda still wouldn't take responsibility. Honda has jerked me around from person to person, while having me drive around in my new car with a gaping hole in the sunroof that is shattering glass every time i drive it. Their service men have told me one thing, and the corporation as a whole is saying something else. After a quick web-search, there have been many other instances of this happening on hondas, and they are refusing to take responsibility.
The windshield washer on this vehicle and my daughter's similar car are a defective design. They do not work in the cold. Also the wipers are ineffective. This leads to unsafe driving conditions.
The welds on the steel rims are defective. They corrode pre maturelyare cause tire pressure to drop. This vehicle was bought new and is less then two years old. Honda refuses to take responsibility . It's not a warranty issue it's a defective part that should be addressed and fixed by honda . This vehicle is not safe to drive as at any time this defective weld can become worse and cause the rim to collapse and tire to blow. Would you want to drive this at high speeds? honda is an arrogant company that needs to be humbled and take responsibility for its problems. Also, on this vehicle the compass does not function. You'll be driving east and the compass says sw. Again honda says not there problem. Lastly, the digital mpg gauge is misleading and highly inaccurate. It overestimates the real mpg and misleads customers to believe there getting better mileage. Fraud!
