The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while traveling 55 mph the vehicle collided with a deer and the drivers air bag and passenger side air bags failed to deploy. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages was 1,500.

I received a notice fro auto airbag settlement and i was informed that my vehicles were included in the settlement, and i do want to be involved in the settlement.

While driving southbound on the far right lane of the ny state thruway the evening of jan 8, 2015, i lost control of my honda crv on black ice that was caused by a water main break with a temperature outside of about 20 degrees f. The car skidded into the middle lane where it was lit in the rear by a tractor trailer resulting in the car doing a complete 360 into the far left lane where the front end hit a pick up truck. The damage to rear and front the vehicle was extreme. My compliant is that the only air bags that deployed were the driver's side and curtain bags. None of the front air bags deployed. I know that honda has had issues with air bag recalls, but i had verified directly with honda that my vehicle was not one of those subject to a recall. I think this incident warrants some type of investigation into why the air bags did not deploy.

I turned left with the right-of-way at a stop light. Oncoming car failed to break, ran a red, and hit front passenger side wheel well, on-coming between 40 and 45 mph.front and passenger side airbags deployed, driver side did not.upon collision, i jolted forward and after we stopped moving, i noticed that the male buckle was no longer connected to the female buckle in my (driver-side) apparatus.i consider myself very lucky that i wasn't hurt, and am not under the impression that the belt is designed to operate that way.

My wife who was driving our honda crv 2012 had an accident on the freeway off ramp.when the car in front of her ran over some wire that was left on the road, the driver made a sudden stop. My wife was unable to stop in time and hit the vehicle with our honda.there was considerable damage on both cars.since the airbags did not deploy and the safety belt in our 2012 honda crv did not restrain my wife from hitting the steering wheel, she was seriously hurt. I hope other owners of the honda crv 2012 do not have this type of situation happen to them.

Takata recall: on 7/20/19 1420 hrs, i was driving north/east on ca hwy 121 at aprox 40 mph through a yield turn. A chp officer called to chase a speeding vehicle pulled out in front of me and i hit him square on his drivers side. My steering wheel airbag only partially deployed. All others deployed. My right shoulder slammed into the steering wheel, my right hand sustained significant lacerations. Honda is non-responsive to my request to resolve this matter. My case number 09740188. 'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

Defected airbags

Takata recall with no issues involved

When pulling into a parking spot in a parking structure, as i prepared to stop, the automobile, i think, inexplicably accelerated, crashing into the concrete barrier wall. The airbag deployed. To sum up, i think that my car accelerated by itself.

I have a 2012 honda crv - vin: [xxx], with just a few miles over 40,000my airbag light has been on for several days. Today, i took it to have the diagnostic ran on it. The following error codes came up:71-21: "short in the passengers front airbag off switch"43-22: "no signal from the left side impact sensor (first)"b2-11: "no signal from the rear safing sensor"although, there doesn't appear to be any recalls, in this particular model of my honda crv, there obviously are issues with the airbag system. What steps do i need to take to resolve this matter? i have not received any kind of recalls, nor have i been able to find results, when searching for recalls. Please advise at your earliest convenience.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

On friday, march 18, 2016, i received a safety recall letter from honda automobile division, americanhonda motor co., inc. Regarding a defect pertaining to my 2011 honda cr-v. On monday, march 21, 2016, i initially contacted my local honda dealer (honda of nanuet) where i purchased the vehicle. The manager, dominick informed me that the part to correct the defect would not be available for replacement until late summer 2016. He offered me the option of either bringing my car to be stored at the dealership or storing it at my home until the part becomes available. He further informed me that honda of nanuet would accommodate me with a rental from avis in nanuet, new york. I would only be able to chose from the available compact vehicles on the lot at the time they arrange for the rental. I advised dominick that i have a temporary handicapped parking permit due to knee problems i have. I inquired about renting a vehicle similar to the cr-v however dominick informed me that i would have to pay an additional $15 per day. I then contacted my insurance company who advised me that my policy will not cover this long term rental, that it is the dealerships responsibility. I then contacted dominick to discuss the insurance issue and he advised me that honda would not be covering the cost of insurance and furthermore, i should leave my car at home as opposed to bringing it to the dealer to store.i am unclear why a recall issued by honda would cost me money and inconvenience. I would like know my rights with regard to such a recall.

My husband and i had automobile accident on nov 7 on a busy city street. I was the passenger. My husbandhit a telephone pole at about thirty mph or less. The pole didn't split but i sustained serious enough injuries to be med-flighted to a boston due to internal bleeding in the abdomen and a broken wrist , two crushed fingers and multiple right side injuries. The air bags deployed andhit me hard. I also had my seat belt on prior to the accident when i came to, my seat belt wasn't secured. My husband was the driver and didn't receive any injuries yet the driver side air bag in steering wheel never came out nor did the seat air bag upon impact.

Takata recall reimbursement

First off when driving the vehicle the side air bag light comes on then goes off. This is random it does not do it all the time but i have noticed it more when i turn a curve it seems to do it more. The other issue is the left blinker goes back and forth from blinking fast like there is a bad bulb to blinking normal this happens every time i drive it. I've check the bulbs and even replaced them thinking maybe im just not seeing a bad bulb and it still doing it. Im not to concerned with the blinker problem but i am with the air bags light. The two maybe related im not sure. I do know both could be dangerous.

Takata air bags

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The vin was not provided. The contact stated that while driving about 45 mph, a tire popped off from another vehicle and struck the driver's side front end bumper of the contact's vehicle, caved in the frame and punctured the radiator. The contact was able to maintain control of the vehicle. The driver's side air bag did not deploy while the passenger air bag deployed. There was no warning. The contact sustained injures that required medical attention, a whiplash, head and shoulder pains. A police report was filed. The vehicle was damaged and was towed away by the insurance company, awaiting a decision on the state of the vehicle. The dealer and the manufacture were not called. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

Takata recall my car is a "subject car" and if i am driving a potential "time bomb" which could maim or kill me or my family, i naturally prefer it to be fixed sooner rather than later. It has not blown up yet, but when it might, that will be toolate. I wrote a letter to mr. Yamada, pres. & ceo of honda motor co. Na and he ignored my letter of november 19, 2014. My lawyer has a copy of that letter should the air bag explode.

I was stopped in traffic about 10 feet behind a vehicle and rear ended by a car going at least 40 - 50 mph. The crash caused my car to be pushed into the car in front of me.there was a small amount of damage to the front of my car, but there was extensive damage to the rear of my car, pushing the back seats into the front.my car was totaled.not one airbag deployed, the drivers seat broke and my seatbelt did not restrain me after the initial impact causing me to be thrown into the passenger seat and knocking me out. There were no passengers in my car.

Takata recall, i keep hearing that my vehicle should have a recall but i haven't received one for my air bag.

Air bag light stays on and head light frequent replacemeny

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While driving 55 mph, a deer ran out in front of the contact's vehicle. The contact crashed into the deer. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent body shop where it was repaired. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. The vin was not available.

We had a direct deer hit on i81 north in grantville pa. The direct hit was taken on the driver's side of the vehicle at 65 mph in highway driving. The airbag only deployed on the passenger side not on the driver's side. This seemed very odd to us. Either both air bags should have deployed or neither airbag should have deployed in this accident. Pictures are attached. I reported this to american honda, but they refused to investigate it and i had to beg them for an email address to send the pictures to.given their attitude, i felt i needed to report this accident to nhtsa. My car was totaled by new jersey manufacturer's insurance co.

Someone needs to inspect the vehicle at the salvage yard.the phone is 925.370.3900 the stock number is 4363519

Internal failure of passenger side weight sensor causing airbag light to be on in honda cr-v.dealer has stated without $1600 of repair to weight sensor/seat frame, none of the car's airbags would be operational in the event i am in an accident.vehicle has less that 50,000 miles on it and has never been in an accident, not even a bump.

My air bag light is on. Unsure what it means, but after doing some research, it appears i may have a malfunction? i do not see any recalls for the 2012 honda crv though. Should i report this to my dealer and/or are there any recalls, that i am not aware of?

I have had 3 batteries in my cr-v since purchase and was told it was due to a bad cell (car would require a jump after sitting 3-5 days without being started). Just had it in the shop and was told a service bulletin had been issued by honda that certain cr-v's with certain vin's needed a software update (pgm-f1) that regulates battery charging/discharge. I realize that this is not a safety hazard but is a definite hassle and wonder why honda has not issued a general recall to address the problem. I am also unsure if this has fixed the problem. Thank you.

On 4/9/14 i was driving my vehicle in heavy traffic during rush hour (stop and go) traffic. Suddenly eps indicatorlight came on, the vehicles steeringbecame difficult to maneuver. I was unable to turn steering wheel without extreme effort, was a very dangerous situation. Upon arrival home, iturned off vehicle and restarted immediately, issue disappeared, vehicle'ssteering was normal.. On 4/12/14 vehicle taken to burns honda, marlton, nj for an inspection of the vehicle steering issue as recommended by honda america. Honda dealer inspected vehicle for which they indicated that diagnosis of vehicle computer showed eps code came on previously, but all codes are clear and no fault present at time. On 4/14/14 while driving vehicle to work in the early hours of the morning, eps light indicator came on at 8:13 a.m., same situation, heavy traffic, stop and go traffic. Eps (electronic power steering) light indicator returned, i pulled over (as referenced in the manual) turned engine off engine, then re-started, system seemed to reset itself. A few minutes later eps light came on again, steering wheel very difficult to navigate as previously stated. I pulled over, turned engine off andrestarted. The same problem/issuecontinued to persist approx. Eight more times;i was slowly capable to guide vehicle directly to the same dealer (burns honda). Honda america has been notified of this problem from the first incident of 4/9/14 and most recent incident today 4/14/14. Awaiting response of service procedure from dealer and honda america to address problem, this is a serious safety issue. Eps system failure.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the battery was replaced several times however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to rhinelander honda (1737 n stevens st, rhinelander, wi 54501) and the contact was informed the battery failed due to an aftermarket part that was installed on the vehicle. The battery was not replaced. The contact mentioned that the battery was taken to an installer of the aftermarket starter and the contact was informed that there were no issues found with the battery. The contact mentioned that previously the battery failure caused the alternator to become inoperable. The manufacturer was not contacted or made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

Window switch on drivers side for front passenger window stopped working. The vehicle is only to drive to and from work and the window is hardly used.

My 2012 cr-v has customizable auto door lock function. It has couple option. 1. With vehicle speed, 2. Shift from p. Problem with option 2. I select option 2. Because i want to get more secure safety. Not less the secure safety. When i was escaping from close road, i need to drive back. I started engine and open driver door to make sure my rear tire is going right way. Changed gear p to r. And door didn't automatically lock. I guess there is protection for when driver door open and engine running, door didn't lock itself. I understand that. But i escape from there and close door and change gear r to d. And drive up to 40 mph. And door is still unlock. This is an error. They can not advertise they have auto lock function for safety. The function give people to understand for have more secure safety by car. They must watch safety while car is driving more then 20mph over 500 feet. If they think really care about safety, they should lock other doors at least. And keep watch what's car status.

While driving less than 30 mph, the power steering failed on two occasions with my 2012 honda crv.it became very difficult to turn the wheel and the power steering indicator light was on, and the only thing i could really do is stop in the middle of the street.when i turned off the vehicle and restarted it, the steering worked fine again.the same thing happened again about one week later.i took it to my honda dealer in inver grove heights, mn, to have it checked.they could see from the two codes that something happened but could not find anything wrong.they contacted honda, who indicated it could have something to do with the battery connection so they checked/replaced the grounding wire to the battery and also checked all of the connections.i previously had problems with the battery about 6 months after getting the new vehicle.i had trouble with the vehicle starting even in the garage.i had it into the dealership at least three different times when they determined i had a bad battery.after they replace the battery, i did not have any problems with it starting again.it makes me wonder if the previous battery issue and the steering issue could be relatedi have only been driving it a few days, but it has not happened again as yet.if it happens again, i will take the vehicle to my honda dealer and update this complaint.having steering failure is obviously a very serious safety issue, which i am very concerned about.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While operating the vehicle, it experienced unintended acceleration. Also, the doors would randomly lock and unlock and the instrument panel gauges displayed false readings. The cause of the failures was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 73,000. The consumer stated the vehicle was compromised by a cyber-stalker/hacker for over 2 years. The radio station randomly changes, the compass display was incorrect, the climate controls would not operate, and the clock switched to military time.

Vehicle continues to have electrical problem after several batteries have been replaced. In interval of 4 years of purchasing the car (brand new), we have insulted 4 batteries. The continues to leave my wife and kids stranded many times. Have contacted both the manufacturer and my local honda dealer , but have had no luck.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. When the contact attempted to re-enter the vehicle, the driver's side door failed to open. In addition, the key fob failed to electronically open the door. The dealer (lundgren honda of auburn, 163 washington st, auburn, ma 01501, (855) 230-0305) diagnosed that the latch assembly needed to be replaced. The dealer did not mention if the key fob and a second key needed to be reprogrammed. The dealer stated that there were no recalls for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000. .

Ref: nhtsa id #10084343 surge, vibration or judder may be felt while driving under light acceleration. (honda service bulletin 15-086 and a15086) .honda claims my vin number is not on recall list.vehicle still under drive train warranty. Dealer will evaluate condition on jan 9 2017 to see if warranty will cover sb 15.086.

Battery does not get recharged properly, it requires replacement about once a year or every 2 years.also if car sits for a few days battery has a harder time starting car.this has been going on since car was bought, and is the same for multiple batteries so the problem lies in the car's system.

Car wouldn't start required jump.

This cr-v sometimes hesitates to crank.it will crank after the 2nd try.it also has a very high pitch sound at 55 mph that is very annoying.

I was driving my 2012 honda crv when thedoorlocks started going crazy then the car alarm started going off then me and my wife tried to get out and the door would not open so i drove the 3 month old crv back to the dealer at sunnyside honda and they were the rudest people on earth i told them what happened and they tried to get me to sing a paper that said i might have to pay cause it might be my fault not were sorry not are you guys ok no just sing i said no ask for the boss he said same thing so i ask for his boss the head boss at the timeno sorry no are u ok well he said you had a remote starter put in its an after market its there fault call them i didn't put it in very rude and leaning in turns me so i said honda at the time i bought the crvsad they were out of factory remotes and rec-amendedthat one it was put on there before i even picked up the car for firsttime now me and my wife was terrified and all they could do is give us bull not just say wow it a brand new crv sorry it happened well check it out finally after that and a long time latter they agreed to check it out and said after it was check out well we replaced the door actuator but if it happens gain you need to call the remote people no sorry i loved honda but not now i am looking into a law suite.

My 7 months pregnant wife got stranded 200 miles from home when her alternator decided to die on her resulting in a dead battery. We only have 50,000 miles on this vehicle and an alternator shouldn't die on a vehicle this young in its life span. Luckily a good seminarian decided to give her car a jump start which got her to her destination safely. So since we are out of warranty and needed to have this fixed quickly, we took it to a local trusted shop in the area and the alternator had a faulty part which ended up costing us over $600 dollars to get fixed.we also have had a loud engine rattle noise that occurs on cold startups for the past year and honda has been aware of this issue since 2008 and has not issued a recall and has not come up with a permanent fix.i believe the quality of honda cars has been drastically declining over the past couple of years and i have lost faith in the honda brand and will never buy another honda again.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated after jumpstarting the vehicle, it resumed normal operation. The failure recurred numerous times. The manufacturer issued a voluntary recall related to the battery management system. The vehicle was serviced under the recall; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired for the most recent failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The recall number was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 3,666.

2012 honda crv.consumer requests reimbursement for a defective battery.the consumer stated on december 14, 2014, while driving, the vehicle suddenly stopped due to the battery not charging.the consumer purchased a new battery from autozone.on december 18, 2014, the consumer received a letter concerning the battery charging defect.the consumer contacted customer service and was instructed to contact the dealer and present the receipt of payment for reimbursement.the dealer denied the consumer's request for reimbursement, due to the fact the consumer did not take the vehicle to the dealer when he experienced the battery issue.

I was driving into my driveway and put into park.the key would not come out of ignition. Very frustrated it was late at night and i tried wiggling the key.i could turn car off but so it wasn't running but it was on enough for audio to stay on.i drove around hoping i could reset what problem was but did the same thing when i parked.i had to leave key in ignition till the battery died, which took till the next day. We put key in again after it came out and it did the same thing and got stuck again and got hot when we did get it out.we jump started car enough to get to dealership and key did same thing when i parked it there until the battery died and then it was able to come out.they called and said they had to replace the shift assembly.they specifically said in service paperthat "the shifter assembly was pinching the wire from the park pin switch causing short electrical dig" and they sent pics and information to tech line.

I have a 2012 honda crv. I recently had my battery changed when the car would not turn over.luckily this happened while parked in front of my home.i didn't think anything of it because the battery just turned 4 years old.the mechanic also tested the charging system just to be sure everythingwas alright. The mechanic found low readings for both the starter and alternator. The car is 4 years old with only 30,000 miles on it. I was concerned when first told about this.however, now i am reading multiple complaints regarding this same issue. With so many complaints on the electrical system, why isn't honda forced to do something such as a mandatory recall??

Vehicle failed to start once in first year gradually increasedto 1 weekly. Dealer check could find0 twice-can't find, can't fix. Now w/60400 mi must jump for any start since dealer tested it this week. Dlr wants to do full diagnostic 2nd time at my expense. Waste of time going nowhere. Honda inc says work w/ dealer which says can't find problem and it's your problem. I can't trade it like it is. Have had 9 new accords since 1978 w/ no major problems. Established loyalty to honda not considered.in my case. Disappointed!

I bought this car in january 2015 replaced battery bought new on november 2015 and have had to replace the battery 4 times since. Last time new battery installed august of 2019 battery dead again in april 2020.

Cars awd orange lights were on, on cold days (6th and 7th january, 2014, est). Outside temperature was between -5f to -10f (as indicated by cars dash). I do not have a garage. Felt cars front wheels were the only ones getting power. I don't think awd was working.

The heater in this car blows cold air and it is nearly impossible to warm up during long commutes even when the fan and heat adjustments are on high. It has not improved during the past three months of cold weather and it doesn't do any good to purchase an awd vehicle when the heat doesn't even work.

The battery keeps going dead. The green light in the battery- is green showing fully charged, but it won't turn the motor over. It appears it is under charged, have been stalled 6-8 times. I have to carry a jump battery now. Found out honda has a service bulletin 12-041 on this problem. It needs to be escalated, too many people getting stranded. There needs to be a recall on this.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The battery was jump-started and the contact was able to start the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where a new battery and software was installed. The failure recurred and the vehicle had not been repaired or diagnosed for the most recent failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 5,718.

Driver side does not blow hot air, the car blows hot air on the passenger side but cold air on the driver side, its difficult to drive car in cold weather conditions due to this issue, as legs and hands become numb due to cold air blow on drivers side, which will potentially lead to pull over many times while driving or may lead t crash in the future, many 2012 crv models have this issue.a recall should be called and the issue fixed immediately, thanks

Vtc actuator:loud rattling noise upon cold start-up started at approx 75k miles. Car is stationary. Took car to dealership for regular maintenance and given a clean bill of health each time.in fact dealer told me it may have been my imagination because they could not duplicate the sound in shop.the extended warranty expires 2 months ago.because the sound persisted and seems louder in fact, i left my cr-v at dealer's overnight, sound was heard and duplicated first thing in the am. Then i get a diagnosis of the vtc actuator failure at a replacement cost of $849.in addition, my timing chain cover is now mysteriously leaking oil, costing $748 for repair. I wonder if the constant rattling of the variable valve timing control actuator aided in this issue.according to published tsb and online complaints, honda has known of vtc actuator problem/safety issue since 2012 which means the honda technicians were aware prior to my constant complaining about it, my warranty expiring, and an enormous cost for repairs.anything less than an official recall forcing honda to replace part for working one at no cost to vehicle owner is a lack of integrity, deceitful dealings and unfair tohonda loyal consumers.*dt

Low beam headlight switch failed and lost both low beam headlights at exactly same moment.clearly a safety risk for night driving.i see honda has recalled this switch in past models.failure occurred while driving at night.

The bluetooth component has a horrible background noise. The person you're speaking with is unable to hear you. This totally defeats the purpose of hands free driving. This complaint has been reported numerous times and can be found with a basic google search. The dealership has even confirmed to me directly that this is an ongoing complaint and problem, which they don't have a solution to. They stated it is just part the technology problems with bluetooth. I have had bluetooth earbuds in the past and have never had this problem so i find that reasoning unacceptable.

Concern on honda lock actuator:all doors on this 2012 car have been replaced 1x in the last 18 mos., and now we are on round two of replacing theactuators.as the car became about 3-years old, our doors began to fail to lock, fail to open and doors cycle between unlocked and locked. The auto-locks just keep cycling and trying to lock - making it a terrible, distracting sound while driving.there is no control when the driver tries to unlock the car, and there is just one key slot for the car. (nothing even for the trunk).this has cost us over $1200.this is unsafe.

Starting problems. Many times the car would not start without jumping the battery.took car to dealer, ike honda, marion, il 62959 many times.first time, no trouble found, second time no trouble found, but when i picked the car up at the dealer cr-v would not start. Dealer kept car over night for testing and replaced the battery. Said it may have been a floating cell.trouble continued. Next time dealer replaced the alternator. Still not fixed. After jumping car several more times, took car back to ike honda and they did a product update 14-071, 12-17-14.never received a recall notice from honda. Still not fixed.had trouble a couple more times, jumped car ok. Last time i took car in,10-10-15 no trouble found again. Battery checked outgood, no draws on electrical system. Software up to date. In all cases car was parked overnight in our garage when it would not start. No lights, or anything else left on.once battery is jumped, car starts without any problems for quite sometime before having problems again. Driving habits, mileage same as previous two suv's. Never had a problem with either of them starting. I believe that the ike service department has made sincere attempts at resolving this issue and providing me with detailed information on what they have tried to do, what they found/didn't find.however, the starting problem continues.

With the cooler weather upon us, we began using the heat recently.as a couple others have also noted, the driver side "heat" is blowing cool/cold air.the engine is warming up and the passenger side heat is working as expected.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that after several attempts, the engine failed to start. The vehicle was successfully started after having the battery jumped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the battery needed to be recharged. The manufacturer was contacted and covered the cost of the repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 8,600. The current mileage was approximately 8,800.

Vehicle stalled, and would not start. Battery was dead. Had the vehicle checked by honda, january 29, 2012, they said no problems were found. Feb. 4, would not start.

Software update for battery.heater/defroster blower motor (subassembly motor).dead battery.software was supposed to read battery voltage and wasn't working correctly so honda required software update. Had that done at dealer on 01/01/15. At that time asked about the heater/defroster noise and the fact that it didn't always work. Was informed by dealership the subassembly motor needed to be replaced. Repair estimate is $1200.00. On wednesday 01/07/15 went out to start car and battery was dead. Had to replace with new battery.car was purchased april 2012, less than three years old. Out of warranty due to mileage. Software update didn't work in sensing voltage since i came out to a dead battery 1 week after "update". Subassembly motor part not something that is a mileage wear and tear issue. Can be a safety issue if defroster not functioning properly subsequently leading to poor visibility through windshield.

Shortly after purchasing vehicle brand-new the car would not start. No lights had been on. Had vehicle towed to the dealership for a "fix." now this has happened again- battery completely dead without warning leaving me and my young children stranded for hours. I just had the vehicle serviced at the end of may (about 5 weeks ago) and everything passed inspection then.also like other reports i see, my engine sometimes makes a loud grinding sound when starting. My dealership said that "this just sometimes happens." i'm not convinced- i've driven some very old cars that don't even do this! this was my first brand new car and i'm not pleased.

Engine cranked but vehicle would not start. Towed to service station. Analyzed and fixed by shorting battery cables.i was told that there was a honda service bulletin on this. I was also told that no repair was possible to prevent this from happening again. Called a "glitch" in the computer system.my concern is that if this engine failure happened in traffic, a rear end collision could have happened.i do not know what other systems on the car like airbags etc. Were inoperative because of this problem.

I'm the originalowner and my battery dies for no reason.i turned the ignition to the 2 position and a few minutes the car battery was drained.

The contact owns a 2012 honda crv. The contact stated that by pushing the lock buttons on the inside of the driver's side door, the engine could be started. The dealer was notified of the issue but offered no assistance. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact back to the dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 400.....updated 08-24-12 the consumer stated the dealer replaced the vehicle on 7/28/2012

Starter is making a loud noise when it starts cold for the past couple of years.

Electrical wires and sensors are made of soy base which attacks critters to chew on them.on several occasions car was not able to start or failed shortly after.car was in for repairs twice in a one week period. Repair cost was $500 the first time and over $1500 the second.there is no reason to believe that there will not be more incidents.honda's customer service department offers no help and does not have any advise to stop this from happening again.honda needs to recall these vehicles and replace them with plastic coated wires.

Cold start -make metal to metal grinding sound.replaced starter with no remedy.

Battery keeps dying. Loses charge every once in a while even after car has been running for hours.

Significant number of vehicles manufactured in 2012, have a battery problem for which a service bulletin has been created internally within honda. However, the communication was never sent to the owners, an online query does not show any recalls for this vehicle. Due the lack of communication, the owners had to carry a portable jump station to get the car started everytime the battery died.

Vehicle did not start on a cold morning (tuesday 07th january, 2014, 9:30 am est). Outside temperature was around -10f (as indicated by cars dash). I do not have a garage. So car was parked outside. I cleared snow on top of car and i tried starting, but it wont start. I gave the starter, 10-12 minutes recovery time between trying subsequent starts. But, car would make clicking noise. Geico emergency roadside was backed up and they said it will take 6 hours to send some one. I had to get it jump started later that evening. Additional facts: (i use the car everyday. I did not leave any electrical appliance/lights on on the above day).

This chronic issue started with a slow crank and then a no start and aaa replaced the battery on 3/6/16. Two weeks ago on august 23rd the car would not start in the parking lot after sitting for 10 minutes with the engine turned off. I jumped the battery and then had aaa test the battery and charging system. They diagnosed the issue as the charging system, likely the alternator as it was charging the battery intermittently. They jumped the vehicle and it was taken in for service at bill page honda. They replaced the alternator in warranty and said the problem was fixed. On september 6th the car had a slow crank and then on september 7th the car would not start. I jumped the vehicle and took it directly to honda and they are presently insisting that the issue is a dead battery. However, if the battery was fine two weeks ago and the issue is known to be with the charging system, it is fair to say that the concern is not the battery, but the system that regulates the alternator's charging of the battery itself.the vehicle is in warranty, however, my concern is that the vehicle will no longer be in warranty when this issue occurs again if the battery is just replaced (i average about 2 years on a battery). Additionally, this is a diagnosis of exclusion and all other things must be ruled out before you can determine the actual cause.

Battery failure.

Engine- purchased car in aug 2013 in winter that year i heard a loud grinding noise at morning starts when it was cold. Took to honda dealer service who said it was probably vtc actuator. Had to bring it back and leave over nght so they could hear it in am. Of course the night i took it wasnt cold enough next am to make noise. Took it 3 other times since all to honda dealer plus reported it each time i took in for service. Never able to hear noise because too warm. Still making noise today, 5 years later. Warranty expired. Very aggravating. Electrical- battery has been replaced 3 times in 5 years, this year it was in janurary. Something is draining it when the vehicle is even turned off and not running. Lights have never been left on to run battery down. Each time i have to get a new battery the sales person says the battery is too new to be drained already and there must be something draining it. Honda dealer says they would need to have the vehicle there when the problem happened to find the problem. They said that the first 2 times i took it there the third time i didnt waste my time going there.

Loud metallic rattle noise on cold start-up. Honda dealer found honda service bulletin 09-010 issued, but no fix for this problem has been issued to date.

Submission from constituent re 2012 honda cr-v intermittent problem.the consumer stated the vehicle would pause, when she attempted to accelerate after the vehicle, had been idling.there was zero response for 3-4 seconds, then the vehicle would uncontrollably surge forward. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. The dealer informed the consumer, the problem was her using her left foot to brake. The problem has since been resolved. Updated 01/30/14

I paid cash for a new 2012 cr-v ex l with nav.within a few months of purchase, the car broke down. I stopped for gas and it would not start. I am a single female and had to walk in the dark to walmart, buy jumper cables and flash someone down for a boost. Took the car to the dealer and they stated nothing was wrong with the car. It keeps happening over and over again. It has broken down several times and each time i take it to the dealer, they say nothing is wrong with it. I've had to pay out of pocket for a tow truck and repairs that still did not fix the problem. I took it to another honda dealership and it broke down while at the dealer. It would not start. Was completely dead. They ran several test and like the other dealer stated they can not find anything wrong with it. Less than three weeks later, it broke down again. It is still in the shop. Been there for 2 weeks and they still have no clue whats wrong with the car. Honda tried to start the car yesterday and it would not start, completely dead. They have checked everything (battery, alternator, recalls, electoral, etc.) several times and it comes back saying good condition. Something is wrong with this car and honda won't admit it or take responsibility. It is obviously something wrong with this vehicle.

Battery chargingsystem recall.battery dead left light on 3 minutes, ignition off.nothing else on.

There is a battery drain issue. The electrical system will not keep it charged. The alternator has also been replaced early. Battery light comes on because it just can't keep charged. This is a safety issue. My wife called me from a parking lot miles away from my location with a dead battery. I don't like her driving with a vehicle that has electrical issues. Multiple batteries have been replaced on this vehicle. There is supposedly a "fix" from the dealership, but some online report that it does not work. I realize honda doesn't want to do a recall unless this is a safety issue; however, if my wife is stranded somewhere by herself in this vehicle that is a safety issue.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the alternator was defective. The engine failed to start numerous times and the battery was replaced several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who performed diagnostic testing that located a failure code at the alternator. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 40,400.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start and would also stall intermittently. The steering wheel was difficult to turn and the contact had to apply force in order to turn the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who replaced the battery four times and the alternator however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 16,400.

This incident concerns the horn. It is a joke and a dangerous on at that. As i was driving on i-20 outside of atlanta i was driving alone side a pick-up truck to my right. My front bumper was about even with the truck's windows post. The truck started moving over into my lane and since there was another car beside me (on my left) i could not move over so i started blowing the horn. I could barely hear it so i know driver of the truck could not hear it so he continued to move over into my lane. My only choice was to apply the brakes and let the car to my left pass me and move over behind it. I was missed by inches by the car that was following that car. That driver had to apply the brakes very hard so as not to hit me. The horn needs to be much louder then it is.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While attempting to start the vehicle, there was an abnormal grinding noise coming from the front end. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the starter actuator failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

The power steering goes out periodically while turning to the right or left it also will go out while driving on freeway, speed of car when this happens is anywhere 5-65 mph. All fluids are full in the car. Dealer can't find anything wrong. The roads have been normal ( rain, dry, hot, cold) . I have gone on-line to see if others have the same thing happening and there are a lot of people expressing the same concerns with mo one to help them. Some had said there could be a bubble in a hose causing it or an issue with vsa ( ?) this a real safety issue

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While driving at any speed, the steering wheel seized and the steering wheel warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle stability actuator (vsa) failed. It was unknown if the vehicle was repaired. The dealer and manufacturer stated there was no failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

On cold starts here a load scrapping sound that lasts for 2-3 seconds.never hear it on warm starts.

Prior to accident, vehicle had no issues and was serviced routinely.there were 2 individuals in the car and accident took place on a two lane state road approximately 2 miles from residence.the weather was hot and sunny on the mid-afternoon of the accident.driver noticed sputtering in the car and decided to u-turn to return to residence.as driver continued, sputtering worsened and somebody drove alongside and yelled that the vehicle appeared to be leaking gas.very soon after, while car was driving at 5mph, the car had an explosion and flames came through the passenger window.both driver and passenger were burned and medevac'd to local burn center.passenger received severe 2nd and 3rd degree burns on upper half of body.driver also received burns but not as severe.each managed to exit vehicle before the being engulfed by flames.vehicle is completely unrepairable and destroyed.fire marshal report as further details on possible origins of the car fire.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v.the contact stated that while starting the vehicle after being idle for an extended time, the contact heard a rattling noise from the engine.the vehicle was taken for diagnosis where the contact was advised that the vtc actuator would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure but did state that the vehicle was consuming more than 2.5 quarts of engine oil within a 15 day span. The manufacture was contacted and stated that they would further investigate the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. The current mileage was 26,492.

Bought this car new about a month ago.the only problem i have been having is that at certain times, usually at slower speeds, when i step on the gas there is a 2-3 second delay before the car accelerates.during this hesitation period, the engine does not rev, and the car just coasts.this has happened 10-12 time this past month.this is very dangerous when i am trying to merge into faster moving traffic.i took my car to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the condition nor find anything wrong.they told me they reported the issue to honda national.

After owning for 5 years, during winter months a loud rattle sounded each and every time the motor was turned on.it did not matter if engine was cold or not.i took to dealer who said for $699 they would try and fix but no guarantees and could still exist. I spoke to different mechanic who said if i continued without getting it repaired, it could ruin the engine.i called the corp office to be told that there was not a recall because they did not have a replacement.i was forced to sell the car. I am looking for compensation

This has occurred multiple times. I was driving, came to a stop and was unable to accelerate to 25 mph. The car hesitated upon acceleration and then suddenly accelerated. Normally when it occurs it has happened after a stop at a light, stop sign or corner.however, it has also happened while i've been on the highway, let off the gas and then attempted to accelerate. I brought it to my honda dealer for repair and they cannot duplicate the circumstances. I reported it to honda headquarters and they can do nothing if the dealer the can not find the problem and had no other complaints about this problem which seems unlikely. This is very scary and could lead to a collision.

2012 honda cr-v. When the vehicle is started, an abnormal loud rattling noise is heard coming from the engine. There are no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to honda city dealer located in levitown ny where it was diagnosed that the vtc actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired at a cost of $750 to the owner. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided to repair the defective part. The noise appeared when the car was only 3years old and the dealer was contacted by phone but said there was no permanent fix yet and to call back when the noise got louder.the failure mileage was approximately 51,000 which was less than the warranty milage of 60,000.honda is aware of this defective part that can cause further engine damage or failure but no recall has been issued.poor response by honda.

The vehicle shakes, vibrates or wobbles when accelerating in low gears.it stops when easing up on the gas pedal.it typically occurs when the vehicle shifts (automatic transmission) between the 1st and 2nd gears.the whole car shakes.the only way to stop it is by removing foot from gas pedal or accelerating car quickly to higher speed.the issue affects the ability to safely accelerate to proper speed.begins when accelerating from a stopped position all the way up until car reaches about 40-45 miles per hour.occurs on all types of road conditions but is very pronounced when driving on a flat surface.

Engine rattles at cold start up. Per service bulletin the vtc actuator is faulty and needs to be replaced with an upgraded part. This is the second time i will need to have it replaced. I shouldn't have to pay for this repair again.

This is in reference to sb-09-010 that hundreds if not thousands of cr-v owners are experiencing spanning from 2012-2014 model years (other honda's such as the accord are also experiencing this issue all the back to 2008).starting around 40,000 miles (after our 3 year/36k warranty expired of course) our vehicle makes a loud grinding noise on cold startups (after vehicle has been sitting for 2 or more hours). The longer the vehicle sits the louder the grinding noise is for the first startup. Honda has known about this problem for many years now (research it and you'll see for yourself) and has been complacent in coming up with a fix. How am i supposed to sell a vehicle that sounds like this? no one in their right mind would buy a vehicle that sounds like the engine is knocking or rattling. Where are the fixes for this honda? honda, you're rapidly losing faith in your brand and your customer base is diminishing. You've already lost me as a customer (my wife is still being loyal since this cr-v is hers) and i've jumped ship to another brand of car that starts with an "s" and ends in a "ubaru".. At 50,000 miles my 7 months pregnant wife got stranded 200 miles from home because the alternator decided to crap out on her which resulted in the battery dying. Luckily a good samaritan gave her car a jump start and she reached her destination. Getting the alternator fixed which was diagnosed as something internal in the alternator, cost us over $600 to fix on a 3 year old car. An alternator should not be dying on a 50,000 mile or 3 year old car.we will be filing formal complaints with honda customer service in regards to the alternator and the loud engine rattle. Honda's quality in workmanship has drastically declined. I am through with buying any more honda's.goodbye honda!

Each time i start an engine when it still cold it has a rattle loudy noise. When honda is going to recall for this issue?

Engine rattles at cold start-up - vtc actuator needs replacement. The honda dealer (criswell honda, germantown md) doing the maintenance says that i have gone past the warranty. But i have been there multiple times for service before and mentioned about the issue. They did not fix it or explained to me the issues. They are charging me $800 now for this. Based on current search in google, this is what i find. Please helphonda tsb number:a09-010.v4nhtsa number:10087883tsbdate:march 17, 2016failing component: engine (pws)summary: service bulletin - replace the vtc actuator if the engine rattles loudly for 2 seconds during cold start-up.

Car in motion at approximately 45 mph on city street, when suddenly all power is lost. Engine still running but no power when pushing accelerator pedal. This lasts from 5 to 10 seconds. Then suddenly kicks in again. No check engine light appears. Talked to honda about this and they said they have never heard of this happening. This has happened four times in this vehicle.

Startingcar sound is a grinding sound.tends to happen in the morning when i first start it up for the day.i think honda should replace the cam actuator gear assembly.what else is getting ruined on my car when no action has been taken place by honda?

Loud metallic rattle noise on cold start-up. Honda dealer found honda service bulletin 09-010 issued, but no fix for this problem has been issued to date.

Grinding noise at cold start.

When pressing the accelerator the vehicle hesitates before accelerating.this creates a hazardous condition when pulling out into traffic. Vehicle feels like it is going to stall out.

Loud noise on start-up all the time (doesn't matter if cold or hot).took to dealer, peoria, il - 12/30/2014 suspectedvtc actuator.dealer said could not duplicate, after i even recorded the noise.brought back in april 2015, insisted they listen while i was there.diagnosed vtc actuator. Said honda had a tech bulletin, said they know about the problem but will not allow dealer to fix it.told to check back again soon.i checked back over several months.same answer.there is no fix, honda knows about the problem.how can a manufacturer know there is a problem, and say they can't fix it.i can't resale the vehicle with this noise.the noise is very loud and embarrassing on every start up.dealer refuses to fix or provide any solution.this seems to be a problem with different honda vehicles, and consumers can't get the problem fixed.

Honda crv 2012when starting the care in the morning, engine makes a rattling noise after it starts. This has been happening for the past year or so, on a daily basis. Of late, it happens in the evening as well. I.e) whenever the car has not been running for a couple of hours. The honda dealership is saying that there is no bulletin from american honda company on this, in order to fix the issue. And that this is not causing any damage to the engine. However, i see a service bulletin issued in october 2012 specifically for this, and it is stored on the nhtsa.dot.gov website.service bulletin2012 american honda motor co., inc. ' all rights reserved atb 41171-48259 (1210) 1 of 6october 6, 201209-010spoke to american honda customer service and they clarified that they had updated that bulletin since then. They are advising the dealers to not apply those steps and have removed it as a recommendation (since 2013) to fix the engine rattle noise. They are deeming this as a "noise irritant". And asked us to check back in 4 months from now. However, on a product such as this car, the appearance is important. Right now, it sounds like i am driving a clunker! also, the concerns are:a) damage to the engine / actuator is still happening?b) is it safe to start the engine despite rattling noise?c) engine might eventually not start at alld) a loose part might destroy the engine while driving on a highway and result in an accident!thanks!

Vtc actuator grinding on cold start. Reported to honda. Paid to have it replaced out of pocket at a cost of $1443.83 on 9/24/18 at 111,863 miles. At 122,000 miles started having high oil consumption. After several misdiagnosis by hare honda, determined same issue as 2011 tsb a12-089 problem with sticking piston rings. Requires full engine rebuild quoted at $2000. If not fixed can cause engine failure.

Grinding noise when cold starting and it has begun to stall the engine.

The contact owns a 2012 honda crv. The contact stated that the engine failed to start. The failure was experienced numerous times and was taken to the dealer numerous times. The dealer performed several diagnostics, which located failure codes with the ground wire, battery, lift gate power assembly, and the computer software. The dealer replaced the affected parts and updated the computer software but the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 165 and the approximate current mileage was 27,000.

The engine makes a rattling noise when the car is turned on in cold weather, usually when it is first turned on in the morning. I live on the gulf coast, so it really doesn't even get that cold down here, but i have noticed this on multiple "cold" mornings (temperatures maybe in the 40s). I noticed several other people have reported this problem. I don't know if it is causing damage to the car, but it does not sound good.

Problem with cooling system. The 2012-2016 cr-v models have issues with the heater core becoming clogged, and not generating enough heat for proper defrosting, defogging and cabin heating. Honda is aware of this problem and it is wide-spread enough for them to issue technical service bulletin #14-063 (see attached) for flushing of cooling system, at a cost to the car owner of approximately $470.00. This problem seems to be caused by factory-installed coolant (this is not scheduled to be replaced until 105k miles). Since our cr-v still had the factory coolant and all related components, and could be safety-related due to ineffective defrosting and defogging, should these be subject to a recall at honda's expense, and those owners who paid for this to be corrected be reimbursed?

Vtc actuator ..honda has been having recalls on the accord and its happening to everyone's crv..the honda dealers want $1000, replace with a new up-graded unit..very loud noise on every start...

Grinding noise upon cold start.this issue started at least two years ago.did not happen on every start.asked dealership what it might be and i was told it was nothing.over the past year, noise happens religiously every time there is a cold start.dealership now says it's the vtc actuator and i am now past my warranty.it appears that a tsb was issued march 2016.why has no recall been made since this is a widespread issue?

Our car started vibrating during light acceleration between 20-30 mph just over 40,000 miles (warranty).this vibration is very noticeable around town while running errands.the whole car shakes!if pushed hard on the accelerator the issue does not happen, for instance when going on the freeway.we found a service bulletin #15-086 dated august 18, 2016 thanks to our mechanic, currently feb. 2017.however when we called the dealership where the vehicle was purchased, we were told that honda has taken the service bulletin down because they found the recommended software update and replacement of the a/t fluid, was not found to solve the problem.so he said there was nothing to be done to fix this issue.they know there is a problem, and yet no solution.so here we are stuck with a vehicle that we bought for the honda brand and yet if we want to sell it, test driving it will reveal its major issue and we will not get blue book value for it.bad return on investment.so really i will have to drive this car around, vibrating all over town, even though my family has now outgrown it, and not be able to upgrade fairly to a bigger car.i wanted a pilot, but honda's lack of concern over this apparent issue does not instill buyers trust in them again.more like buyers remorse.

I have a 2012 honda crv exl + navi 2wd and last 3-4 years i visited honda dealerships more than 7 times for the problem. Vehicle has currently approximately 30k miles and honda part # 44500-t0a-a00 was replaced under warranty 3 times. There is still oil leak from passenger site intermediate drive half shaft bearing. Last time vehicle was repaired about 14 months ago at honda dealership and the leak came back again. Honda regional mechanic looked at it and couldn't identify the root cause of the problem. (no help there...) the vehicle is still under power train warranty (and its running out...) i called last honda dealer again and they told me that they would probably replace the same part again and again until leak stops. And for how long repeat the same repair?i strongly believe that they are not able accurately diagnose the root cause of the problem and keep repairing wrong thing.i was wondering if is there was someone at "helpful honda" that is familiar with it's products design and can diagnose where the oil leak is coming from. There is always wet oil residue under my splash guard which could be a potential fire hazard...i have all 6-7 times dealer repair work invoices as a proof.

Rattle/grinding noise on cold starts.at first, it was only on very cold mornings, which we don't usually have here in the south (alabama); however, today, it does it every time you start the car.it's a frightening noise that sounds like it's tearing up the engine.there are videos and hundreds of complaints online about this issue.i have read something about a class-action lawsuit, as well, although i was never notified of that.

Grinding noise upon cold start. This issue started at least two years ago. Did not happen on every start. Asked dealership what it might be and i was told it was nothing. Over the past year, noise happens religiously every time there is a cold start. Dealership now says it's the vtc actuator and i am now past my warranty. It appears that a tsb was issued march 2016. Why has no recall been made since this is a widespread issue? class action settlement 3/ 2018 did not include the crv's

Purchased a honda crv 2012 from a dealership but they brought the car to me for a test drive which resulted in my not hearing the grinding noise on startup. The engine makes a grinding sound every time you start it (cold starts...when i start it in the morning it makes the sound and if i start it within 15-20 minutes after the initial start it is much milder of a noise.) the honda mechanic said they could not fix it (still under warranty at the time) because honda has not done a "software update." i now see, after researching the issue, that this is an ongoing problem with honda crv's that has not been rectified.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle made a grinding noise coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was not taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was informed of failure and informed the contact that since the vehicle was out of warranty, there would be no assistance provided. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

Engine makes rattling or grinding noise on startup, usually in the morning or when the car has set for at least 6 to 8 hours.

Heater/defroster on driver's side not putting out warm air.windows not being defrosted - safety issue.honda has long recognized this problem and issued a service bulletin 14-063 but refused to correct with charging several hundred dollars. This should be fixed no-charge as it is a safety issue.

Faulty vtc actuator, grinding noise on starting the car everyday in the mornings. Dealer have a $600.00 estimate to have it fixed and not covered under standard warranty.honda is aware of this issue and no recall has been issued.

Engine rattles on cold start. Ties to their service bulletin 09-010 issue. This was reportedto suburban honda novi 7/18/2016 when car mileage was 59716. Car was returned indicating this issue could not be replicated. Service buletin dates back to march 17 2016. How did suburban honda not recognize this as the issue when i first reported to them on 7/18/2016? today 8/16/17 this issue has coumponded. Every time car is started after kept idle of more than an hour the rattle sound is real lud. Local technician, paul's automotive said yesterday, it is real impoartant it be looked at by honda. So takin it to suburban honda today 8/16/17.

Rattle noise on cold start up. Vtc actuator replaced under warranty and now same problem again after 10;000 miles. From my reading and speaking to several auto mechanics, this is a common problem with this model of car and it seems like honda of america has not taken responsibility for addressing this problem adequately. I think a recall of this engine or an extension of the warranty should be required.

This is similar to the complaint on the 2013 i saw posted which is..." the contact owns a 2013 honda cr-v. The contact stated that when starting the vehicle, a grinding noise was heard from the front end. The failure was recurring and intermittent. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 19,000. Kmj ..... On my 2012, it has been in to service for this problem twice- they replaced an actuator for the starter- but now admit that is not the problem.it usually occurs in colder weather and it is a heck of a loud grinding noise when starting that continues after the key has been returned to normal.. For up to about 20 seconds.i was told that honda knows about this problem and admits to it.. And is working on a fix-- but that was a few months ago now- and i have not heard from them what to do...we do not trust this car to start- and will be worried more as winter approaches..the primary reason we buy honda'sto be dependable.

The cam actuator gear assembly" part #14310r44a01, act. Assy., 46t vtcthis part rattles for a few seconds on startup.it has been happening (especially in cold weather) since the car was one year old (it is now 3 years and 8 months old).

While driving, i smelled some burning, and saw white smokes, so pulled over, and turned off the engine, got out of the car.after 30 seconds or (possibly a few mins), it caught fire (engine under the hood), and people around us tried to put out the fire using their own fire extinguisher to no avail.fire truck arrived within minutes , and was able to put out fire.at this time, insurance does not seem really interested in finding out the root cause.honda dealer says they are out of the mix since they did not service the vehicle.honda america is saying that they will not look into this and simply wait for the outcome from insurance investigation.honda has a history of recalls (cr-v) associated with fire hazards specifically from 2002-2006, and 2012 cr-v could be defective as well, but their responses over this accident is simply outrageous.so i'm filing a complaint against nhtsa, hoping that someone in the agency can take a look at this, and get to the bottom of this fire incidence, and hopefully, this can prevent "fatal" disasters in the future.

On april 25, 2021 i was gently pulling into my driveway and i applied the brakes and the car accelerated.i continue to apply the brake and the car would not stop. I crashed into my front porch.the front wheels went over the edge of the porch and the car stopped. There is about a 7 foot drop off, thankfully the whole car didn't go off the porch.i knocked all the supports for the porch and the roof was on the top of my car.i do believe if i were pressing the accelerator by mistake the car would've continued off the porch.bought the car in december 2020 only had it six months.i was certain i had stepped on the brakes so i googled and found other people with 2012s in 2011's had experienced this problem.i have no police report but the police did come out because one of the neighbors had called them.they may have an incident report.thankfully the car stopped before went off the porch or i could have been severely hurt.

I have been having random incidents since i got the car a little over a year ago where the gas pedal has accelerator issues.usually from either a stop or slow moving, i accelerate and there is nothing for a few seconds, a hesitation, when stepping on the gas pedal.i have almost been rear ended numerous times, and have also almost had accidents while trying to turn across traffic and losing acceleration with no warning. I have had the car into service and am told they can't duplicate the problem so can't fix it. I am seriously concerned driving this car as it keeps happening and there is no explanation how to fix the problem. Someone i work with has the same car but a 2013 and is having the same problem.

Cold start of engine causes loud grinding noise only 2 and a half years of ownership 50,000 mileslooking online it is not a unique problem and is an engine design flaw. Honda only says it's working on the problem but doesn't have a fix yet. They say the official problem is that the vtec actuator is defective.given the number of posts asking about this problem i would assume the company would work on it especially if it is a problem with the engine.

A grinding noise occurs upon starting which lasts for a few seconds. I had asked about it on more than one occasion when bringing my car to the honda dealership for service. A service manager captured it on video and said there was not any effect to the vehicle. My warranty is now expired and i imagine trying to sell the vehicle in the future will be a problem when someone hears that noise.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. When the vehicle was started, a loud grinding sound emitted from the front of the vehicle. The failure recurred each time the vehicle was started if it had been parked for over four hours. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that they were aware of the failure and the contact would be placed on a waiting list. The contact stated that the vtc actuator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

I went to park in a diagonal, on street parking spot, and applied the brake to stop. The car instead accelerated, jumped the curb and proceeded into an adjoining parking lot. I turned hard right to avoid vehicles and struck the retaining wall at the back of the lot with my left front quarter panel. This impact steepened the turn and shot me back out of the lot and onto the street. I proceeded up the street, the car accelerating all the time. I tried to determine if i was accidentally stepping on the gas, and felt i was indeed on the brake. My car proceeded rapidly up the street, over 1/10th mile in distance. In a panic to try and stop the car i stomped on the emergency brake, which locked up the rear wheels. My rear tires were in a skid for over 150 feet, which produced a sideways skid, the car turning right and slamming broadside into a park vehicle which stopped me.i feel this is a case of unintended acceleration, and have been made aware of other such incidents in late model crvs.

Sudden acceleration: when foot on brake, the engine surges

Vtc actuator makes an extremely loud noise and vibrates when starting vehicle. This is causing the timing chain to slip and chip\loose teeth. Also causes low or lack of oil pressure which causes the damage to the timing chain. Lose of oil pressure has caused cracks in the oil gasket as well. Honda has admitted that the vtc actuator is a defective part. However, honda will not accept responsibly for replacement or repair of the vtc actuator or for any damage caused due to the defective part. This problem is wide spread and began with my vehicle in 2016. Repairs were made which only eliminated the noise and vibration. Oil pressure was restored for a very limited time and the oil gasket began to crack. With each oil change (completed at the appropriate recommended times) the oil was noticeably low.

On cold startups there is a grinding noise coming from the engine compartment which lasts for a few seconds. The grinding noise is heard usually after the car is left idle overnight but happens to a lesser extent while the car is being used.i took it to the dealer.their mechanic identified it as the vtc actuator.they said that this is common and that honda has issued a service bulletin and will be issuing a recall soon.honda knows of this problem (bulletin:09-010).they said that it can wait for the recall to be issued.my problem is that my warrintymay now expire and a recall could not ever be issued.

Please research this issue with 2012 honda cr-v's as i am not the only one with this issue and i believe it's a serious safety issue: the vehicle shakes, vibrates or wobbles when accelerating in low gears. It stops when easing up on the gas pedal. It typically occurs when the vehicle shifts (automatic transmission) between the 1st and 2nd gears. The whole car shakes. The only way to stop it is by removing foot from gas pedal or accelerating car quickly to higher speed. The issue affects the ability to safely accelerate to proper speed. Begins when accelerating from a stopped position all the way up until car reaches about 40-45 miles per hour. Occurs on all types of road conditions but is very pronounced when driving on a flat surface.i have taken my vehicle to be serviced at the honda of the avenues and i was told it was resolved.it hasn't been resolved and i have been traveling so i haven't had the chance to take it back.i am up to date with all my oil changes and maintenance.i see that i am not the only one with this issue with my 2012 honda crv as others with the same vehicle are complaining online.this should be part of a recall service.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact merged to the shoulder of the road and restarted the vehicle. The dealer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the mechanic advised that the failure was unable to be detected. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000 and the current mileage was 11,000.

When i "cold" start my car (mornings, after 6 hours of nonuse) there is a loud grinding/screeching noise that lasts a few seconds (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3z00ln1dd8).the schaumburg (il) dealership says honda is aware of this problem and has not provided a solution to them yet. I contacted them on march 13, 2015, regarding this.they provided the same answer today...while the problem/noise persists.i am hoping this complaint will help force honda develop a (vtc actuator?) solution and provide it to honda drivers.

There is a known issue with the vtc on many hondas from 2008-2014.honda is only covering the issue under the standard warranty though it is a known issue.

Grinding noise at startup. Told was vct issue but hundreds of other complaints for same issue on internet.

Grinding/rattling engine noise on first start-up only. Appears to be the vtc actuator problem. Happens only in cold weather. Almost bought a toyota rav4 instead. Maybe i should have bought the toyota?

Wife pulled car into attached garage, has stopped, needed to move up 1-2 feet, with foot on brake the car suddenly overpowered the brakes, smashed a cabinet in garage, hit inside wall, broke studs, and moved others damage both wall in garage and inside home, there were marks on garage floor per insurance adjuster said, not skid marks instead it was from front wheels spinning as it pushed a cabinet into and through 2 walls - took to dealeer, honda corporate was involved, before honda people we involved, they could not duplicate the situaltion, (note this is the second time this happened other was parking in outside parking lot, was able to stop but barely) it was swept under the rug, by honda, corporate, factory rep never even bothered to call us. Wife was accident free 50+ years, she is short about 5 foot, drives with right foot only.there is an engineer or someone back in 2012 already 136,000 reported accidents across all makes and models, suv and foreign cars were the worst, 92% were at slow speed mostly parking, the one thing in common is everything is electronic, batteries are smaller and at low speeds all the power being used causes a spike to the computer, which controls speed, no cables or rods to be pushed on gas pedal anymore, to make it worse another car same model, year, make in on your site as id 10794564 look at vin # almost identical. With all this happening it appears the manufactures are not bothering to find a common cause for this, saves them money, but the damages, injuries, and deaths related to this problem has never been found in 10+ years

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. When the vehicle was started, an abnormal noise was heard coming from the engine. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to gwinnett place honda (3325 satellite blvd, duluth, ga 30096, (678) 274-6206) where it was diagnosed that the vtc actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

Every time i start a car i hear a grinding sound that lasts for 1-2 seconds and then stops. This is how it sounds like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kr20baoxbo8this happens to honda cr-v's and accords with 2.4l 4 cyl. Engines. The issues known as "vtc actuator assembly" -https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/ucm501009/sb-10041669-6712.pdfthis is a huge problem for vehicles assembled between 2010 - 2016 and it should be a recall to fix the issue. As of now honda is not admitting that there is the problem.

2012 honda cr-v vtc actuator recall.....whenever i start my car i hear a grinding noise which i have been told is the vtc actuator. The noise is very annoying it makes loud loud noise every time the car is started.

Reported vtc actuator problem under warranty. Honda refused to fix. They issued a tsb stating it was a non-issue. Now, the timing chain is stretched, mechanic reports that the engine is damaged beyond. Metal shavings are in the oil filter, main bearings are worn. All this because of a known design flaw that the mfg was unwilling to repair.

Vehicle makes a loud noise when starting in cold weather

We have a problem with noise when starting in cold weather.there is a hesitation sometimes when driving like not getting fuel.

There's a grinding noise that follows the start of the engine. This issue began 2 years ago during the winter months. Took it to honda to see what was wrong. They weren't able to recreate the sound and sent me on my way. It's now doing it all of the time. I haven't taken it to honda again, but i will when i have the time and money to fix it.initial viewing of this site shows a lot of the same issue. Haven't done any further research to see if the issue has been resolved or handled by hond. I will once i finish this post. Hopefully, honda is doing or will do the right thing and recall vehicles affected by this issue.

Loud noise when the engine is started.

I bought a used crv from the dealer in manchester nh. It is not under warantee anymore. The vtc actuator is bad and i need it replaced. It was recalled by honda. They are telling me its only up to 60 k miles. I bought it with that many on it.

Thevtc is making a rattling noise on a cold start up.this startedout of nowhere and has not gone away.my car is parked in a garage at home and is parked outside at work but will do the same no matter what.

In stop and go traffic, with and without the econ button on, the car hesitates to accelerate to the point that it has nearly caused accidents. Took it to honda and asked them to drive to witness the problem. I don't think they drove it. The problem is somewhat intermittent, so you never know when it will happen. You have to adjust your driving just in case it might happen. The dealer told me not to drive with econ button in city driving conditions. That doesn't make a difference. It will cause accident eventually.

Low heat from the drivers side vent. Had to have the heater core flushed. Its a known issue with this car and there is an official honda service bulletin (14-063) for this problem. Had to pay $450 to have this fixed.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the engine failed to start without warning. The vehicle was taken to the conicelli honda dealer located at 1100 ridge pike, conshohocken, pa 19428; (484) 533-2352 where it was diagnosed that a service bulletin needed to be updated and the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The contact also stated that when trying to start the vehicle it made an abnormal noise. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was no outstanding service bulletin for this issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case number was not provided. The approximate failure mileage was 50,920.

Heater is blowing very cold air (28 deg) on driver side, (130 deg) on passenger side.this condition is when the vehicle is stationery, it becomes much colder when in motion. There was a tsb created november 2014, regarding this problem.

Grinding noise occurs on 1st start up when car is cold and occasionally during the day. We took it to honda dealership on 11/5/2015 and they say it is the vtc actuator and no repairswill be done at this time. We took it to pasadena honda on 1/25/16 and the service manager said they honda would email us when they had a fix. I called honda customer service and filed a complaint. They said honda was working on a second solution.the noise continues to worsen. They said it wasn't a safety issue or wouldn't hurt the engine(?)

During cold weather (winter) when vehicle is started first time in the morning there is a one time grinding noise? dealer indicated that the issue was with the variable timing control valve, dealer replaced vtc, noise didn't go away. Dealer now indicates that honda is working on permanent solution but it has been close to a year and no permanent solution so far.

The listed vehicle above stalls or hesitates intermittently while driving and changing speeds.

Gave the gas to take off from a dead stop and the car had no reaction. Seemed like the engine died or stopped running. I had to give the gas harder and the engine caught and the tires skidded. This hesitation left my car in a dangerous position as i was entering a 55 mph road. I had plenty of time to get on the road until it finally started moving. This has happened several time since. You never know when it's going to happen again.

The honda hands free system is very dangerous.you say a voice command, then squint at the dash screen to see what it says.it may take 20 commands and 20 times you have to read the screen to get to the person you want to call.it requires me to take my eyes off the road 20 times.it is much worse than holding the phone.with a clip-on the visor hands free adaptor, all i had to do was say the name, and it would call.i have written honda about this but they haven't responded.there should be some kind of inspection or approval for these hands-free devices.

Sirswe have taken this car to the dealership 6 documented times to repair or replace a distractive driving issue that involves the in dash navigation system, bluetooth and gps pairing.after 2 years of visits to valencia honda, i was told that the problem could not be fixed.i hired the law firm of parker stansbury to initiate a " lemon law"protection by california civil code 1793.22.american honda has responded and denied my request for repurchase or replace the defected unit or the entire vehicle.since this complaint involves distractive driving issues, it is our belief that american honda is not only putting our safety at risk but the safety of all other 2012 honda cr-v owners at risk that may have the same defective navigation software.the arrogance of american honda should not be tolerated. I will be requesting an arbitration hearing with the better business bureau in an attempt to resolve our concernsany assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated to identify the cause of the problem and to resolve this safety concern.sincerely, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Low beam headlight switch failed and lost both low beam headlights at exactly same moment.clearly a safety risk for night driving.i see honda has recalled this switch in past models.failure occurred while driving at night.

When driving at night the running lights turn off by themself.

I have had the headlights adjusted 3 times. There is insufficient light to drive by at night.i do not feel safe on the road in this vehicle after dark.the dealer said it is the nature of the new reflective lights which do not shine out.he said there is nothing else they can do to fix them.i reported the issue to honda america and they say they will do nothing unless the lights are defective.apparently not being able to see at night is not a defect.i have to drive with them on high beams to be able to see at all and if i switch to low beam upon meeting another vehicle i have to come to a dead stop as i cannot see where i am in the road.there is no beam which is directly in front of your drive path.low beam with fog lights or high beam; neither is sufficient light to drive by. I live in a rural area with no street lights and lots of deer.i need the headlights replaced on this vehicle to be a safe driver.i have seen other complaints on the internet and am asking the nhsa to force honda to recall these vehicles to have the lights replaced with a different type of lighting.i barely feel able to drive on familiar roads there is no way i can take this vehicle to an unknown area at night.please recognize this issue as a safety hazard.i am not interested in a law suit.i just want to be safe in my 2012 honda crv.

I.headlights are terrible.i only drive occasionally at night.the high beam points too high and the lowbeam too low. I asked rep in service dept. At don jacobs, lexington, ky and he advised the headlightsare set at factory. They could not do anything to adjust them. I don't think he even made out a report.but the more i think about it, honda should have a "fix" for this problem.2.battery. Local temps have been -/+ zero outside. My honda is parked in garage and temps in thiscold weather in my garage is 34 degrees, average.. My honda "groans" when starting, but so far hasmanaged to get started. I have not mentioned this to don jacobs as i didn't think they would do anythingabout it.they would probably say "it was set at factory".

Air bag light stays on and head light frequent replacemeny

The head lights are extremely poor very very poor i could see better with a led flashlight the lights point up at the trees on high and point down on low ... You can not see anything on high.. I almost hit 2 people walking on the road and also countless deer.. Changing the bulbs did not work.. The hole head light assembles need to be redesignedor the lowbeam bypassed so that the low and high are on at the same time...i am sure you have had complaints before due to the thousands and thousands of complaints onlinejust google it i did that's how i found out it was just not mewhen i get arrested for hitting someone due to my headlights sucking i will be filing a class a law suit against honda.

Started vehiclewhile stopped and low beams did not come on and low beam headlights have failed to work properly. Daytime lights and high beams continue to operate.

The contact owns 2012 honda crv. The contact stated that the headlights failed to provide proper illumination coverage. The dealer adjusted the headlights several times however the failure was not corrected. The low beam headlights would not provide coverage overhead or on the sides of the vehicle. The high beam headlight would illuminate much higher than normal. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the headlight failure was not a manufacturing defect.the vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 7,737 and the current mileage 24,000.

I would like to lodge a formal complaint in regards to the head lights on the honda cr-v. The 2012 and 2013 models both suffer from very dim headlights. While the brightness may be enough to pass ntsb regulations; in practice, they are much more dim than most if not all modern vehicles. I am a member on multiple forums sites and there are a great deal of cr-v owners that feel the headlights in the cr-vwhile adequate; could be much better and add to safety. Many owners have taken to replacing entire headlight assemblies in favor of hid ballasts while others have tested various brands of after-market bulbs. On dark roadways; there is not enough light produced by either the low or high beam to fully illuminate the path in front of the car and the corner lighting is poor at best. I feel that honda should take ownership and offer it's customers a better lighting option from the factory.

[xxx]reports high beams much lower intensity than low beams. They do not illuminate the road ahead at any speed. Must use low beams only. Safety hazard.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the headlights were extremely dim. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised her that they would adjust the headlights. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that after having the adjustment performed, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000. The current mileage was approximately 5,000.updated 1/23/13updated 02/07/2013* js

For the first time since purchasing the vehicle in february 2012, i was driving in dark and rainy conditions this morning, taking our son to school.i had both the headlights and fog lights on, and i was amazed that the lights hardly lit up the road in front of me at all.the car was clean and the light lenses were not dirty at all.i couldn't believe how poor the car's front lighting was in these conditions. Normally, when it wasn't raining, i thought the car's lights were sufficient.not great, but sufficient.since honda does not offer any higher intensity head light bulbs, i will check with aftermarket suppliers. Honda is known as a very safety conscious car company.having headlights that perform so poorly in the rain seems like a safety related defect to me.many vehicles on the road today have much better and brighter headlights.considering the price of the 2012 honda cr-v ex-l, it seems like honda should have installed higher intensity or even xenon headlights.

The high beams lights in my honda are a safety hazard, they aren't bright and don't light the road up at all. Its so bad that even if you leave the high beams on the oncoming traffic doesn't even notice they are on. I cant believe honda would allow something this unsafe to go to the customer. I have brought my vehicle to numerous honda dealers and they say there is nothing they can do because there isn't any recalls or safety bulletins pertaining to headlights on the 2012 honda. This needs to come to a head before someone gets seriously hurt by this horrible design. I have seen numerous chat boards online discussing the same issue i am having. Why should we as customers have to suffer from this poor design tactic. Hopefully something can come of this soon.

I purchased a new 2012 crv in march, 2012 & occasionally at lower speeds it would hesitate for a couple seconds before responding to giving it gas, especially when turning a corner.a couple times i was almost rear ended due to the hesitancy. At that time i thought i had bad gas causing the problem, especially since it only did it perhaps 5 times in the first 15,000 miles & i was unable to duplicate the problem immediately after.recently around 20,000 miles it seemed to be increasing the frequency that it was happening, so on 11-29-2013 i inquired at the honda dealer & was told that they had received complaints about it from others but had no solution.they suggested that i might avoid using the econ button since that seemed to be part of the problem. They was also another gentleman at the dealership at the same time with a 2012 crv & he had the same problem but with greater frequency than what i was having.i just returned from a trip of about 1,800 miles & the frequency has increased dramatically, 6-8 times during the trip.during heavy traffic i disengaged the econ button, but i still continued to have the problem of it hesitating even with the econ button disengaged.on 12-10-2013 i was back at the dealership for maintenance & told them that the frequency was increasing; they said they could not duplicate it & had no know solution to the problem.they are saying that the problem has to do with "gray matter"' in the computer system that allows it to achieve maximum efficiency, whatever that means.i am now fearful of turning left if there is oncoming traffic or pulling out into traffic.

Whenever i stop at a stop sign or light, upon re-starting (only if there is an incline in the street) the motor almost stops.i must pump the gas peddle, it seems, to cause fuel to enter.then the car takes off too fast in the traffic. The mechanics at the dealer where i purchased the car cannot find (or experience) the problem.but there is definitely a malfunction--dangerous as well.

When making a hard left turn, there is a pause before accelerating

The listed vehicle above stalls or hesitates intermittently while driving and changing speeds.

At different times while driving there is a hesitation when i press on the gas.this is scary when trying to take off in traffic or when turning a corner.i have to press hard on he gas peddle a couple times to get the car to go.i've mentioned this to the dealer every time i take the car in for service but they can't find what is wrong.this happens with and without the eco engaged..this happens when i'm driving on the road mostly but has happened a couple times on the expressway.it has happened since i purchased to vehicle in 2012 until now (12/08/17).

Due to recall letter of interior front door latch and front passenger door latch not properly latched, brought the car to honda of serramonte to have it fixed.after retrieving my car, i tested the door latch while driving, the door can still be opened from the inside.

This is about nhtsa recall 12v-338, and to report honda's failure to remedy a defect within 60 days of first contact with the dealer (honda of annapolis, 1720 west street, annapolis, md21401).we brought our 2102 honda cr-v to honda of annapolis on march 22, 2013 for the replacement of driver's and passenger's door latches and inner handles under recall 12v-338.the service advisor stated that no parts were available, so the parts would be special ordered and we would be called when the parts were in stock.we never received any call. We went to honda of annapolis on june 27, 2013 for an oil change and inquired about the recall parts, which were then in stock, and the recall work was performed.when we asked why we had not been called about the recall parts, no one offered any rational explanation, much less any apology. Later that day, we were unable to lock the cr-v, the car alarm would go off when either front door was opened, and we had to turn off the alarm by putting the key in the ignition.we returned to honda of annapolis the following day to have these problems fixed. Thus, honda of annapolis missed your 60 day repair deadline by over 30 days, and then performed the replacement in an incompetent manner.if we had not gone in for the oil change, we believe we would never have received any call from this dealer about completing the recall.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving 10 mph with the doors locked, the passenger's side door was still able to be opened. The dealer was notified and informed the contact that there was a setting available that would remedy the issue. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact of the same information. The contact changed the setting but the passenger side door could still be opened from the inside with the doors locked. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 7,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 35 mph, the front passenger side door opened independently. The passenger of the vehicle was able to close the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician advised that the vehicle was included in the recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 12v338000 (latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch). The recall repair was performed however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 600.

The approximate failure mileage was 53,000. .

At 40 mph vehicle rumbles.it also feels rough ride, feels bumpy on a smooth road. Also gives at idle.after doing some research there are a ton of complaints just like this for this same vehicle.there was a recall at one time but it has been rescinded. Ross seems to be a defect that honda needs to address

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While driving between 30 and 40 mph, the vehicle vibrated. However, when the vehicle accelerated past 40 mph, the vibration disappeared. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,800.

Cars awd orange lights were on, on cold days (6th and 7th january, 2014, est). Outside temperature was between -5f to -10f (as indicated by cars dash). I do not have a garage. Felt cars front wheels were the only ones getting power. I don't think awd was working.

I am having issue with the transmission when shifting from 2ed to 3rd. What i feel is a shutter and it seems more pronounced when the fluid is cold. It's pretty infrequent but it's there. At 61k the dealer said "no codes, so no problem" and suggested that a fluid change is necessary. He kind of made me feel like i've been negligent, but i have not gotten the code and i know it usually pops up about 60k. I usually change the transmission fluid every 30k-35k miles. I have read about other people having the same issues so its very common. Honda say they know about it but they refuse to make a repair (torque converter) on warranty because i lost it at 60k and i have 63k

Loud metallic rattle noise on cold start-up. Honda dealer found honda service bulletin 09-010 issued, but no fix for this problem has been issued to date.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While pulling into the driveway, the vehicle shifted into park. A few minutes later, the contact was altered by the child occupant that the vehicle had rolled back. The contact attempted to get into the vehicle, but the vehicle rolled back too quickly. The child occupant jumped out the vehicle before it crashed into another parked vehicle across the street from their residence. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was towed. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified. There were three injuries that required medical attention. The contact suffered from a hairline fracture on the arm. The contact also went into early labor due to the incident and had an emergency c-section to a child born nine weeks early. The contact stated that the newborn child suffered from disabilities. The child occupant suffered from a foot injury. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 13v143000 (power train) as a possible reason for the failure; however, the vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

Whenever i placed my car on parking an the e-brake if it was on a slope the car would keep going as if it was on drive or reverse. It happened a couple of times. I took it to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong. When i took it to another shop they saw that the brake pads were worn out already with barely a couple of miles from new.

The contact owns a 2012 honda crv. The contact stated that he depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle hesitated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection but they could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. There is a known issue with the vtc on many hondas from 2008-2014.honda is only covering the issue under the standard warranty though it is a known issue.

Very loud rattle/grinding at startup. It happens always when the engin cold and more frequently just sitting for an hour. Honda knows about the problem. It is caused by the vtc actuator. They have a tsb but no recall. Eventually a serious injury will happen. This has been happening since 2013 after it was taken to honda. They did not repair it, after that the warranty ran out.

I bought a 2012 "honda certified" cr-v ex with 34,000 miles on labor day. The next morning and a few mornings after that, the car made a loud grinding/rattling soundfor a few seconds afterthe engine started. As the days have gotten colder, the noise occurs almostevery time the car starts. I thought the car had a failing starter and brought it in for service. The dealer told me it isn't a starter issue but is caused by a vtc actuator in the engine. The device controls valve timing as the engine runs. The dealer tech rep even had a vtc (a small gear) on his desk which he showed me as we spoke. He assured me honda is aware of the problem and "is working on it".well, it turns out honda has been "working on it" since 2008. They issued service bulletin # 09-010 on october 21, 2011. The internet is filled with honda owners of various years and models after 2011 complaining about honda's lackadaisical attitude to this issue. Many have had replacement cvt's installed at their own expense only to have the problem return. The noise is caused when cold oil doesn't flow to the gear at start. The grinding is the sound of dry metal on metal.i am neither a mechanic nor engineer but i know a little about cars and engines. If a device that controls valve timing fails the engine can suddenly lose power or even seize up. I think this is an accident waiting to happen as these gears go through more starts without proper lubrication.i called honda of america and filed a complaint with them. I also asked for a letter verifying that they know of the problem and would cover any engine repair caused by this issue under warranty. So far, there has been no response. I believe that honda should recall the affected cars and make the repair before there is a serious rear end collision or other accident as a result of engine power failing at a critical time.

2012 honda crv makes a rear end hydraulic noise from the rear differential that has gotten progressively worse during the first year of ownership. The sound is made as the vehicle is coming to a stop and once again when the vehicle starts. It is a safety concern that had been reported to honda in four separate instances begin when the vehicle had 2,497 and the last event was at 7,800.

Takata recall...when driving my vehicle @ 30mph my car starts to make this weird noise almost like the noise is when you vear off the road and hit the bumps.i have called my dealership in august 2018 and asked what gas was i using as soon as i mentioned walmart and racetrac he stated thats what was wrong with it and i needed to bring it in for a checkup.i made several appointments on their website ,1 sat appointment that i had to reset tilanother sat appointment then i got a call stating that because of the issue i was having they needed me to bring the car in during the work week hours to have more time.nothing ever mentioned about the power train of the vehicle.at this time i had about 72,000 miles under 80,000 i could not afford the fee they said it would cost me at the time so i canceled the appointment. Now i have the money to bring it to the dealer and when this nice guy picked up the phone he lets me know they are indeed having issues with this vehicle and i need to get it in asap to be put on the computer for an update that is covered under my power train warranty as long as the vehicle is under 80,000 mile..are you serious!! of course i am now at 90,000 miles.i inform him that i read up on this issue and people are saying that they had that done and it was not the problem,he then said well the 2nd part would be to replace transmission and torque converter or you serious.....so now that i am over the milage for the warranty i have to pay for this but had i been told this back in augustit could have been fixed.but there is no recall on this but yet so many people complaining about this same issue on the internet..is honda trying to cover this problem up?

Engine rattles at cold start since 2016.car was stationary. Finally diagnosed in 2020, the variable valve timing control (vtc) actuator is defective.

Bad vibration in power train when accelerating slowly, around 25-30 mph and again around 42mph.

While driving car up slight incline, and minimal acceleration, the car vibrates, feeling like transmission is slipping.the car stuggles to move forward requiring more agressive acceleration to stop vibration.the vibration has been getting worse over the past 6 months

Honda has been in stalling defective vtc actuators in the crv and accord models. On cold start, there is a loud rattle from the engine.there is a bulletin on this problem.it clearly states that it applies to all 2012 crv's.honda support however is attempting to avoid repair of the problem by stating that it only applies to certain vins.the defective vtc actuator has been known to honda since at least 2012.however they have continued to install the device in models through 2015 at least, perhaps later.thank you for your attention to this matter.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While driving between 25-30 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate and hesitated to move. When fuel was added, the vehicle would accelerate and drive normally. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to honda kingsport (located at 2217 e stone dr, kingsport, tn 37660, (423) 358-2519) where the technician changed the automatic transmission fluid and performed an update; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to honda kingsport and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,500.

On cold startups there is a grinding noise coming from the engine compartment which lasts for a few seconds. The grinding noise is heard usually after the car is left idle overnight & does not occur on an everyday basis. My mechanic identified it as the vtc actuator (cam} & should be taken care of before it shuts down the engine & then it becomes an expensive engine overhaul. I have taken it to the honda service dept.(2 places) & told it must be verified to be replaced. The trouble is when i leave the car it doesn't happen, as i said it happens randomly. Honda knows of this problem (bulletin:09-010) but refuses to replace the part without verification. I believe it's unreasonable to leave my vehicle for a long length of time & go without transportation. I even recorded the sound & honda won't accept that. My warranty is running out by the end of this year & i'm afraid this will not be addressed. My vehicle has 33340 miles on it, well below the 60000 mile of ending the warranty but the 5 year mark is approaching. I have read on the honda crv owners club (www.crvownersclub.com) site that the problem exists in many vehicles with the 2.4l engine. There is also a bulletin with an improved part to correct this but verification of each vehicle is necessary. Please help, i believe this is a safety condition as the car can shut down even while driving and the driver then has no control whatsoever of the vehicle.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kr20baoxbo8

Expering the exact same problem of honda tsb number a09-010. Car only has 79k on it.am getting no where with local dealers. This is a known problem to honda! can i get a goodwill repair, as this is my sixth honda i have bought and i certainly do not expect this from honda.

I was driving on interstate 95 at 65 mph.i accidentally lightly bumped the gear shift and it changed from drive to neutral.my speed decreased abruptly/unexpectedly with vehicles traveling 70 mph and abovebehind and beside me. It took a few seconds to determine what was wrong with my car and why it was slowing down.thank god no one was too close! this is a life threatening situation.the dealership in orange city, florida, didn't know the answer but said that the other honda crv's do the same thing.there is a button on the side of the gear shift which i thought you must depress to change gears.from my experience, it is notnecessary to use this button.

Car vibrates or shimmies at low and high mphhonda says there is a software update but this is not a recall.if the transmission fails it would not be very safe on the road. This has been happening since 2015

My wife pulled her 2012 honda cr-v into a residential driveway, putting the car in park, leaving the engine running. She exited the car briefly then returned, opening the door to turn off the ignition. Standing outside the car but inside the open door on the driver's side, she reached in and switched off the ignition.the car started to roll backward, knocking her to the ground, and dragging her about 30 feet down the driveway and across the street. Car came to a stop when it hit the curb across the street. A fireman who arrived first on the scene verified the car was still in park.wife was transported to the hospital by ambulance and suffered a broken shoulder, severe road rash injuries to her torso, and other bruises. The cr-v driver side door has damage, not being able to close properly, and has a piece of black plastic molding torn away from the lower section of the frame.

The gear shift allows the car to be shifted from drive mode to neutral or "2" without pressing the gear release button. This created a safety hazard when driving and removing a bottled beverage and the gear shift was "bumped" while driving pushing the handle up to the neutral position while the vehicle was in motion at high speeds.

Every morning for almost over a year i would start my 2012honda cry. It would rattle like the muffler was loose. I would last until it was warm up. Just recently it has gotten worse and now lasting longer. I had my car service this summer and had my torque converter replace along with the transmission fluid and the update on the computer. The noise never disappeared. Found out that the noise is actually vtc and there us a service bulletin on this. But, now my car is over the miles. What can you help me out with this? communication number: a09-010, date: 2017-02-25 category: 060000 engine (pws) summary: service bulletin - at cold start-up, the engine rattles loudly for about 2 seconds.

2012 honda crv. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle gas pedal.the consumer stated, when he stepped on the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would bogged down.he would have to pump the accelerator pedal, in order to get the vehicle to move. The dealer was unable to find a problem.

Seat belts on vehicle have insufficient tension, fail to retract fully when taken off. Seat belt latches then get caught between door and door frame, thus causing door to close on them and risk bending or breaking them. This has also caused an indentation in one inside door frame where the "door closed" button contacts, thus causing the car to think the door is still open when it is closed. Major safety hazard if the belt latches become bent or weakened by the stress of repeated door closings.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, he approached a traffic signal and when the brake pedal was depressed an unusual noise was present.

2012 honda cr-v headrest - when sitting with my back completely against the car seat, the top part of the headrest is pitched forward at such an angle that it forces my head forward regardless of the height of placement.in order to correctly align my head with my spine while driving, i have to sit forward.this is not a feasible position.i am5'10" tall and i already suffer from cervical spine problems without this headrest creating more!!!i did not realize the situation with the headrest until i'd had the vehicle for about a week.i called the honda customer service number 1-800-999-1009 on march 2, 2012 at approximately 12:50 pm e.s.t. To complain.their representative told me she would make a note of my complaint and pass it on to the design team. She stated that nothing could be done at this time to fix it.the only solution i could find was to turn the headrest around and attach a cushion to it in case of an accident.these headrests may have been designed to fit current safety measures, but one side does not fit all!!

Both front seat headrests aretoo far forward causing neck pain.people are turning them around creating an unsafe condition if accident occurs.correct neck rest angle.

The second row seats do not release to lie flat. There are release latches in the rear and on the seats themselves, neither release.

The front passenger side seat heater over heated and caught a tote bag that was sitting on the seat on fire. According to the users manual the back of the seat does not have a heating element due to the side air bag--my car's seat back does heat up. In fact it gets very hot. I strongly believe that a drivers side seat back was installed on the passenger side--and as a result i believe that my airbags would not have functioned properly if needed.hughes honda in warner robins ga currently has possession of the vehicle and are investigating.

I was applying intermittent braking to modulate speed while proceeding eastbound on i-40 east of black mountain, nc which is a relatively steep grade (approximately 6% for 5 miles).with successive applications i felt progressively increasing vibrations from the front end and feedback through the brake pedal.towards the bottom of the grade i seriously questioned the ability of the brakes to adequately slow the car and had no confidence that i could stop the vehicle in a safe/adequate distance.i continued to drive the car in more level, interstate conditions for another 3.5 hours but did not experience the problem again.reported temperature that day was mid to high 80's.i was conscious of my brake use given the conditions, and do not feel it was excessive.i have driven this particular stretch of road before in higher temperatures, in other vehicles and in more severe conditions without this type of incident.within a week of this incident the vehicle was inspected at a honda dealership and no abnormalities were noted with the brakes.service personnel advised that my experience was simply due to the conditions.i disagree.if brakes in serviceable/good condition cannot provide adequate braking performance under the conditions i described, then i feel this particular component is inadequate and represents a risk to the operator and other vehicles on the road.

Sudden acceleration: when foot on brake, the engine surges

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, he approached a traffic signal and when the brake pedal was depressed an unusual noise was present. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 2. Updated 07/09/13*ljthe consumer stated the seat belt would not release. The consumer exited the vehicle, upon immediately re-entering the seat belt operated properly.updated 07/15/2013

Replaced rear brake pads, caliper pins, rear rotors . Pins seized up. Replaced by dealer where purchased car. Dealer finally picked up all cost with exception of brake pads $77.00.

While driving my car from maryland to new york in extremely rainy conditions on the i95, the suv steering wheel locked after a loud noise. I thought i had a flat tire, but this was not the case. The brakes pedal also did not move. The car buckled and rocked from side to side.(no warning lights came on--why didn't it?) this situation could have been deadly if other vehicles around me were not alert. I read through the comments and realize i am not the only person this has happened to.is honda waiting for someone to die. I told my family to sue them if it happens to me. I have started driving with my ipad video camera on. This is my black box to prove that the honda crv 2012 is faulty.since this has happened, the gas and brake pedals vibrate when driving after 2-3hrs. I took the car into honda, long island, ny. They checked the brakes and said it is fine. But, the car does not drive smooth on the road. You can feel the difference in the steering wheel while driving.honda needs to fix this unsafe problem of the steering and brakes locking while the car is in motion.

The contact owns a 2012 honda crv. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, every time the brake pedal was engaged it continuously emitted a thumping noise. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who informed the brakes exhibited rust. The contact was uncertain whether the defect pertained to the front or rear brakes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 1,200.

Premature wear of rear brakes - caliper locks up.first replaced pads at 3 years old, 39000 miles.2 years later, at 59000 miles, replaced pads rotors and serviced calipers.2 years after that, at 70000 miles replaced calipers, pads and rotors.2 years after that, at 90000 miles, replaced rear brake rotors and pads again.6 months later, at 95000 miles, replaced calipers.8 months later at 100000, replaced calipers, pads and rotors.the internet forums blame the rear hydraulic hoses for collapsing when warm, locking up the calipers.this time the shop will also replace those hoses.i've only had to replace the front brakes once, pads and rotors, at 90000.honda has a real problem here and the dealer won't acknowledge it.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph, the brake pedal was engaged and the vehicle vibrated violently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on five occasions. The front brakes were replaced and the front rotors were resurfaced four times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, there was an abnormal noise emitting from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the rear brake calipers needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the brake calipers, rotors, brake pads, and hydraulic brake hoses were replaced. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000. Consumer stated light indicator did not light up to show there was a brake problem.

While parking my car as i was trying to straighten it out on reverse the break pedal sunk to the floor. I immediately stepped on emergency brake put it in park, noticed fluid puddle on right front side. Walked to auto mech a block away . They picked up car next day since i was afraid to drive it ,.front brake hose was torn from wear out . Asked mechanic what caused it , claimed the hose is not long enough and when turning creates tension should talk to honda and in his 20 yrs. Exp.didn't see this and that i was lucky i wasn't on highway ,when asked if he used a longer hose he said there's only 1 type for this vehicle took.. Usually use highways due to my job but thankfully i was off that day.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While driving at various speeds, the brake warning light illuminated but there were no brake failures. The light illuminated randomly. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the brakes were applied but the brakes failed to disengage. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the front brake shoes were wearing prematurely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.

Feb 2012 : purchased my 2012 honda crv because it was flat towable.sept 1 :left for a two month trip towing said car and using the blue ox patriot braking system.after following all the directions for blue ox and hondas directions for the transmission, everything seemed fine.with exception of the battery going dead every 3-4 hrs of driving. Oct 6: the back brake sounded like it was scraping.honda dealer said the pads were rubbing but didn't have any replacements. I was told they would be okay to make it back home. Oct 16:in texas the brakes sounded like it was metal on metal.took into a honda dealership and was told that the brake pad was missing on the right rear, the caliper pins were missing, rotors needed to be resurfaced, and the parking brake calipers pins were missing.everything replaced under warranty for both rear brakes.car test driven, all brakes fine. Oct 28: back home, brakes vibrating so took it to a honda dealership for oil change and have them check the brakes.i was told all four of the brakes were shot burnt etc and parts would cost $5,000.00. They said it would not be covered under warranty because i used an after the market braking system. They are blaming blue ox.blue ox is blaming honda.america honda hdq were notified but they said since the dealership deemed it wasn't their fault they closed my case. Im the one stuck with paying as the insurance wont cover this either.

My wife took vehicle (2012 crv ex 2 wd) to apostlakis honda in hermitage pa for annual state inspection.service personnel stated that vehicle required new rear rotors/ brake pads. Service rep stated that due to insufficient brake fluid reaching the left rear brakes, the pads had not functioned properly, resulting in damage to the rotor.as a result, vehicle needed new rotors/pads on rear of vehicle to pass state inspection at a cost of nearly $400.from the explanation of the service rep, it appears that a possible manufacturing defect was the cause of the premature disintegration of the left rear brake components.considering the safety issues involved with defective and compromised braking system, i believe this concern needs to be addressed immediately.i believe honda motors needs to compensate individuals such as myself who have been required to address and repair this problem

Just went in for oil change and tire rotation and dealer is telling me because i have not driven that much my rear brake pads needs replacing because the pins in the rear brakes is frozen and keeping the rear brake pad in use even though i am not applying my brakes.front pads are ok. He said i only had about 1/4 inch pad left before it dug into the rooters.7,902 miles did not let dealer do work yet. ...updated 08/12/15 updated 10/26/2017

Car suddenly accelerated after applying brakes to slow down the car when approaching a red light - felt like car kinda jolted and brake felt hardened, after retrying it was all fine. Happened this again to my wife twice while she was pulling the car out of parking lot and had to pull back in, car accelerated, on next try it was fine. Taking it to honda service tomorrow.

Rear brake rotors scored extensively on new vehicle at 45,000 miles. One pad frozen in place against rotor. Had rotors and pads replaced at dealership. Just experienced same problem with new rotors and pads after 19000 miles. One pad has 0% wear left and was frozen in place. One brake caliper bolt was internally corroded. Dealer technician attempted to blame the three miles driven on dirt roads daily as the culprit. Car is washed with underbody flush once per week. Dozens of others report a similar problem on internet message boards. I didn't feel safe driving the vehicle due to excessive noise coming from rear brakes. Neighbor and i replaced pads and caliper bolts. The next day i felt sufficiently comfortable to drive vehicle to honda dealership.service manager agreed there was a problem and agreed to replace the rotors for no cost and to refund my cost for pads and caliper bolts. Service manager agreed there is a design and/or material flaw with the rear brakes and noted the problem is even more frequent in the civic. Included picture shows corroded caliper bolt.

Steering wheel locked several times while driving at lower speeds. I had to turn car off and restart for it to work again. I was unable to turn the wheel at all when it locked

The contact owns a 2012 honda crv. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized while driving at an unknown speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who advised that the steering wire was loose and caused the steering wheel to lock. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred later as the contact was driving 60 mph. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000 and the approximate current mileage was 4,000. The vin was not available.

2012 honda crv - power steering intermittently goes out while driving and power steering failure light on dash illuminates. Once vehicle is turned off after an occurrence the power steering again works fine for days or weeks until the next occurrence.while the dealership acknowledges that when this occurs the vehicle is unsafe to drive, the vehicle is currently at the dealership for the third time to attempt repair for this dangerous problem.note this is the first model year to use honda's new motion-adaptive electric power steering (eps).

The power steering system (eps) shuts down making the vehicle difficult to maneuver. It has happened several times, many times while turning at low speed (the very purpose of power steering). One failure occurred in a parking garage and nearly caused a head-on collision. The failure is intermittent and sometimes includes illumination of the eps warning light on the dash but not always, and the light has never sealed-in. The symptoms are similar to what is described in complaints against the honda fit that led to service bulletin 09-043 that applied to both the fit and the civic hybrid (see http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f1346c0/58). The eps system is newly installed in the cr-v in the 2012 model. Because there is no record of this problem for the cr-v, honda dealers (we have contacted more than one) are requiring that the failure occur while they drive the vehicle before they will fix anything. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer twice with the same complaint most recently the week of 9/24 and left with the dealer overnight. This complaint is being logged to ensure this failure is on record. Based on the fact that the failure is virtually identical to that described for a similar component in earlier fit and civic vehicles, it only seems reasonable to apply the same fix without the need for diagnosis and replication of the symptom.

The 2012 honda crv has started to vibrate in the front end.i have had the wheel bearings and tires checked.nothing is reported found as an issue.it starts to vibrate at random speeds and when you take your foot off the gas it stops.only then can you re-engage the gas pedal.i am concerned with my safety because of this.

My 2012 honda cr-v (awd, ex trim) has, on 5 separate occasions, locked up the electric power steering (eps) system while driving in neighborhood streets (<25 mph) or parking lots.i am lucky this has not happened to me while driving on a city street or highway, but i fear it may happen at any moment.on today's occasion (the 5th out of 5, at 6372 miles), my car was sitting in bright sun all day, and when i drove it a few miles and parked in front of a store, i lost power steering right as i turned to park.the steering tended to harden up as i drove through the parking lot to find my spot.the eps indicator on the dash did not illuminate at all, even though my steering was lost.i had to wait 5 minutes before i was able to maneuver the vehicle into position.on page 355 of the owner's manual, a notice states that: "if you repeatedly turn the steering wheel at an extremely low speed, or hold the steering wheel on the full left or right position for a while, the system heats up. The system goes into a protective mode, and limits its performance. The steering wheel becomes harder and harder to operate. Once the system cools down, eps is restored. Repeated operation under these conditions can eventually damage the system."what kind of steering is this? you tend to use your steering most when in parking lots or tight neighborhood streets.in conclusion, normal driving habits will "eventually damage the system."i demand honda to fully reimburse me for the remaining negative equity of the vehicle lease, and provide me a safe, paid-in-full rental vehicle (non-honda please) to drive until my new mini countryman arrives from europe in a few weeks.i find it appalling that a company known for "reliability" and "durability" would skimp on the most important aspect of driving:the steering.

My daughter was turning right after being stopped at a light along with other cars. Upon starting her right turn, she could not increase the turn rate - the steering wheel became unresponsive. She hit the brakes when she realized she couldn't turn and hit two other vehicles in the left turn lane before the car stopped.other vehicles had minor damage to rear quarter panel and medium damage to front of 2nd other car.

I bought the 2012 crv ex in dec 2012. There have been multiple failures in my car ac died, vibrations, battery died while driving. The following is the major incident which occurred in my car. While driving at around 40 miles, the steering of the car stopped responding and started responding after few sec and then went bad. I stopped my car cautiously, missed hitting the car in front of me. Took on the side of the street and tried to move back and forth. After 10 mins and lot of honks from other car it started responding. While this thing was going on my wife took the video. Took it to the dealership slowly driving and the dealer said there is no issue in the car and i can take this away. Scared to death, i asked dealer that i will not take the car back and sent him the video of my car by uploading it on you tube. As soon as they saw the video, as usual it became a safety concerns and he then did not want me to take the car back. They found some issue and fixed it after keeping the car for two days. No issues with the steering since then but my ac died suddenly now. I took my car over 15 times to dealership in 1 year of new purchase. Opened a case with honda customer service and they said "this is what warranty is for". Good going honda. I am never going to buy any car in future from them. They believe their product is bery good and so they do not deal properly with any problem they have in the cars. I still have the youtube video, i can share that if it is of some use to anyone else.

The contact owns 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the steering wheel became stiff and could not be turned left or right. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or repair shop for inspection or repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 1,795.updated 8/24/12

Was driving and power steering went out then came back on. Almost caused me to go into a ditch as i was making a left turn. Barely even turned the wheel.

While drive 40mph, an abrupt decision to turn into a business driveway was made.in the act of removing my foot from the gas to the brake, the engine rpm is reduced while the steering wheel is turned.i experienced a fault light on the instrument cluster for the steering eps (electronic power steering) system and the steering wheel was momentarily locked in position while attempting to turn.if another vehicle was in the driveway, i would have collided with them.while trying to recreate the problem in the safety of a parking lot, i was able to get the steering will to lock up repeatedly while not moving, with my foot on the brake and a/c on.each attempt to move the steering wheel at low rpm with my foot on the brake resulted in a flash of eps steering fault while the steering wheel locks up preventing me from steering.the steering wheel locks instead of just becoming hard to steer.i have fixed the problem with cleaning of the battery terminals.... The eps power steering requires a lot of electric power.the fuse box has a 70amp fuse feeding power to the eps.at low rpm, the alternator will not supply enough power to operate eps, so the power must come from the battery.my battery was installed by a honda dealership but they did not apply battery corrosion protector to the terminals in november 2016. The corrosion that developed created a resistive electrical connection preventing the high current draw needed for the eps from the battery. This condition will also happen if the alternator is not operating at full capacity (one of the diodes has failed) or if the battery develops a failed cell.honda should correct the issue by allowing the operator to still use the steering wheel instead of having the eps system lock the wheel. The following nhtsa complaints may associated with this issue. 10981511,11005158, 11065903,10979918,10910951

Electrical power steering---the steering wheel became very hard to turn and the electrical power steering light came on when i pulled out of my subdivision onto the main street.this happened while turning a corner and while turning around in a parking lot.---it totally turned off and would not restart for several minutes.took it to the honda service they could not find anything wrong with it!then it happened again while i was on highway 158-turning onto the main road--i could have been in a wreck or killed---when i finally made it to a safe place the car turned off again for 10-15 minutes.the honda service department sent a tow truck--hopefully they can repair it.---this is a very unsafe situation to have happen--thank god i was able to correct the turn!it happens while turning--and the power steering light comes on!this happened on 7/10/17 and 7/13/17

When driving at about 60mph, all of a sudden the steering seizes, and i am unable to steer left or right.its like if the steering locks up.the steering icon appears in the dash until i stop the car and turn off the ignition.when i turn it back on, the car is normal.i could've crashed on the freeway!!this has happened 4 times already.

Driver reported hearing loud pop from right side (assumed to be front tire blowout). She described steering locked up and was unable to turn wheel. Lost control of vehicle on a curving 2 lane road. She describes braking was ineffective, and her vehicle right front corner hit a vehicle in opposite lane, both vehicles spun 180 and crv ended up upright in a ditch off the road. Right front wheel and suspension was completely disconnected from vehicle. Rear right wheel broke from suspension. Car airbags deployed properly, and driver was just bruised and scraped up. This vehicle has had 2 issues with tpms (tire-pressure monitor system). Vehicle was returned to dealer for service after two days after purchase when tpms indicator came on 10 minutes away from dealership after purchase (service dept was closed the next day). Second time was 3 days after service, technician reported that "previous tech didn't adjust the spare tire tpms. That's what caused the errors". Months later tires appeared to be low, but tpms system didn't indicate anything, driver wondered if the service techs disabled the tpms system completely? car was at dealer jan 12, 2013 for door lock recall. Described tpms issues to tech, nothing reported.car was due to go back to shop a month or two after the accident for 1 year check-up.driver states she will not buy another honda.. This one just had too many problems from the start.

Power steering failed twice within 1 mile (~3 minutes apart) of starting car and driving 25mph down residential street.in both instances car was going straight ahead.indicator light reset after first failure and restart then ~3 minutes later indicator lit and power steering failed again while in heavy traffic.vsa modulator had been previously replaced by the dealer (~4000 miles ago) to remedy this recurrent issue.

While backing out of a parking space, the steering became very tight making it impossible to turn the steering wheel at all.an indicator light appeared briefly on the dash and then went out again and the steering became normal.the following day, while i was making a left turn at approx 25 miles per hour it happened again and the indicator light came on briefly again.many complaints of this issue have been found online.someone is going to get killed because this is a significant safety issue as you have no ability to steer the car when this happens.it seems as if honda had a similar issue with their fit model and a recall was issued.this must be dealt with as quickly as possible before lives are lost in an accident.

Power steering failed while in motion ~25mph on a city street.indicator light intermittently flashed 2-3 times after power steering was lost.collision was narrowly avoided.

I drove my car as usual on nov, 15, 2019, went home, and parked in the drive way of my house. But on nov, 16, 2019 around noon, i started my car, and the eps indicator light was on from my dash board, the steering wheel is very tight, very heavy, can barely turn. I can easily cause incident from it.

While driving on the highway, my power steering light came on and the steering wheel locked up. I was struggled to turn the steering wheel to get the car to the shoulder of highway. It almost caused me to have an accident . It was towed to the dealer and they stated it was the power steering or ecp and it will cost almost $1500 dollars to fix. My car was never in any major accidents for anything of this nature to occur and is always serviced at the dealer. I ask the dealer why would this happen and all he said was 'the only thing i can think of is if it was in an accident '.

After starting the engine there's resistance in the steering will . When you steer to the left there's resistance and the wheel the steering wheel it feels like a bounces against the resistance in the turns in the opposite it feels like a bounces against the resistance in the turns in the opposite direction.

While driving a few weeks ago i noticed a very yellow large spider crawling across my dashboard.i almost ran off the road finding a napkin to kill it so it didn't get on me as it was making it's way to me very quickly from the dash towards the steering wheel!!!then a couple days later, another spider. (me thinking i didn't get the first one!?) then a couple days later another spider and this morning while at the dunkin donuts drive-thru, another spider!!!!!all of these i have managed to kill which only tells me that there are a bunch of spiders in my dashboard or something!!!the one today came out of the vent just over the a/c vent drivers side!??!?!each time i see one, it's on the dashboard initially and then quickly moves around.this is the last thing i need and i want the car torn apart to find out where they are coming from and have them removed immediately!i'm freaking out!i am waiting on call backs from both hollman honda (the dealership which has never heard about any spider issues) as well as the customer service dept. Of honda itself to open a case about this matter.being that they are poisonous (mazda had a recall about this very issue evidently although honda isn't issuing a recall at the moment).the car is brand new and i paid cash for it otherwise, i would trade it in if it were a lease.i am terrified of spiders and these are poisonous!!!!help!! i can't keep driving this car!scared out of my mind and needing a remedy fast![xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Paint is chipped and fading

When pulling into a parking spot in a parking structure, as i prepared to stop, the automobile, i think, inexplicably accelerated, crashing into the concrete barrier wall. The airbag deployed. To sum up, i think that my car accelerated by itself.

Our honda crv has a roof leak (by the antenna) that has damaged the inside headliner that it needs to be totally replaced.the leak is probably causing mildew grow in the headliner and possible roof corrosion as well. This makes us very concerned about breathing and health issues in general when using the vehicle.we are told this appears to be a manufacturing / assembly defect and have been going on for a while (years), but we just discovered it in april 2017. Updated 08/23/17*lj

The paint on the hood and upper roof faded very very quickly. There are spots that cannot be buffed out. I have owned many cars never had this problem before. I've had hondas before. This is black paint and have heard 2012 and 2013 was a very bad year for black paint on hondas this is a 2012 crv. I take good care of my cars i wax them and clean them regularly this was very disappointing. Everything else in the car is working wonderfully no problems.

We took a trip from georgia to mississippi on the weekend of 28-30 september.on the way back we drove through extremely heavy rain at times.on the evening of oct 1st i raised the hood to check the oil level.i noticed that the engine compartment was wet and that there was no weather stripping across the front of the hood (my accord and odyssey has it).that allowed water to enter the engine compartment.the water came in from the top and not the bottom of the engine.i took the vehicle to the local honda dealership to complain about the leak.they looked at several brand-new cr-vs and noticed that they too didn't have any weather stripping across the front of the hood.the dealer said there was nothing they could do about it.this is a design defect that needs to be corrected.when driving through heavy rain there is nothing to stop water from entering the engine compartment and possibly damaging the sensitive electronic components.i now have a brand-new cr-v with unsightly water stains on the engine, firewall, and hood insulator.

Due to recall letter of interior front door latch and front passenger door latch not properly latched, brought the car to honda of serramonte to have it fixed.after retrieving my car, i tested the door latch while driving, the door can still be opened from the inside.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the roof was leaking and mildew was present on the ceiling of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to team honda (6363 siegen ln, baton rouge, la 70809, (225) 298-4100) and the contact was informed that there were no recalls; however, they could clean the liner for the roof and perform a water test. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 1,500.

Exploding sun roof _ read article in consumer report.this incident took place on sept.30 - oct.1. I was driving on the expressway a loud noise occured and at the time i thought something flew up from the road and hit the windshield.i thought nothing of it until driving home the next day on the expressway, i was hearing a whistling noise and then as i was passing a semi a very loud noise took place. I couldn't believe it happened twice and the whistling noise disappeared. When i arrived at my destination my friend and i started looking the car all over. We finally discovered that the sunroof had been hit and that the loud noise was the glass giving away and coming off the car. I do do not know if this will be considered a spontaneous shattering sunroof, but i thought i would pass this along.

Driver side heating and air is substantially lower than the passenger side on all temperature settings.

Honda 2012...black death. 78000 miles. Total failure of ac system.must have ac in summer. Why has honda not fixed this issue over past number of year.s and honda says nothing is being paid by them.yes, nothing covered. Consumer must pay over $3,000 to repair.

I was in my 2012 honda crv pulling into a parking spot to park when i experienced unintended acceleration. The car would not stop even after hitting the brakes hard but rather sped up causing me to hit the side mirror of a parked car. Finally i turned to avoid another collision and was able to slow the car down that way.

The defroster on the driver's side emits air that is much cooler (sometimes cold) than the air on the passenger side. The ability to keep the windshield clear is greatly hampered during changing weather conditions. Honda tsb 14-063 attempts to address the problem, but it is not effective and places an unnecessary cost on the consumer.

Heater core is clogged.cool air flows out onto driver's side of cabin (legs and air vents) while hot air flows out onto passenger side of cabin.dealer says the fix is to either replace heater core at a cost of approximately $1,000.00 to me or to have it flushed at a cost of $500.00 to me.the flush is not guaranteed to work.reading online vehicle websites it appears this is a significant problem for 2012 honda cr-v's across the united states.there must be a recall so honda can fix this issue!

Tsb 14-063 failure or plugging of the heater core. Not allowing the driver side vents to defrost my windshield. It is 5 degrees outside and there is little/no heat coming from the drivers side vents, but the passenger side is warm. Continually happening.

The heater in this car blows cold air and it is nearly impossible to warm up during long commutes even when the fan and heat adjustments are on high. It has not improved during the past three months of cold weather and it doesn't do any good to purchase an awd vehicle when the heat doesn't even work.

The car was parked in a parking lot. We had trouble locking the doors with the key fob remote.we manually locked the car doors.when we returned to the car we were unable to open any of the car doors or trunk using the key fob remote.we tried the physical key in the drivers door and that also did not open.a aaa locksmith was able to open the car door.

Sun roof glass blowing out on route 24 (massachusetts) @ 65 mph

Transmission is not good too bad

Honda crv heat stopped working on driver side at 20000 miles.took to dealership and they replaced heater core.the car now has 60000 miles and the same problem is happening again. Heater core needs to be replaced again.did online research and several other people who own crv have had same problem. I live in minnesota and the weather today was -5 degrees.i was unable to heat car which causes safety concerns.

Driver's side heat was blowing slightly warm while passenger side was hot had to pay over300 to get the heater core flushed when this is a common problem on these models was sold this way from a honda dealer this is a safety hazard when the window is unable to clearly defrost this needs to be recalled

When i use the hands free bluetooth on my vehicle, the person on the other end state they hear a loud buzzing noise and can't hear me speak.i tried switching to my work's iphone and the buzzing noise is still there.it's sounds clear on my end but not on the other end.at this point, i can't use my hands free device on my vehicle which is now a law in my state that we are not allowed to use our phones when driving unless it's connected to hands free.

I was stopped at a redlight with 4 cars in front of me.my car accelerated with my foot still on the brake & pushed all 4 cars into each other.lucky no one was seriously injured .this has cost me a lot of money and couldn't be helped.has anyone else had a problem with this?

Vehicle has 20,000 miles on it. With heater control set to full heat and engine hot driver side heater vents blow cold air even when passenger vents blow hot air. Results are poor heating and potentially dangerous ineffective defrosting of driver side windshield. Honda recognizes heater core flaw and recommends replacement as the solution. Not an isolated occurrence as many owners report identical problem on relatively new vehicles.

When using the heat; the driver side air vents have cool or cold air while the passenger side has hot air coming from the vents. This was discovered during the below zero temps. I took my vehicle to the dealership and was told the heater core is plugged which i found through research is a complaint among this particular vehicle 2012-2014 models. I feel that honda should be responsible for repairing this issue through a recall.

The heater core in my 2012 honda crv failed.honda knows the heater cores are defective and issued technical service bulletin 14-063 for 2012, 2013, and 2014 crvs. Honda has not issued a recall.the defective heater cores cause the defroster/heater to emit cold air only.should the heater core fail during a snow or ice storm it would lead to snow or ice buildup on the windshield.this would severely compromise visibility and could lead to a crash.

This problem has occurred now a total of about six times. The first time was in the spring or summer of 2014, when my car was slightly more than two years old. Generally speaking, what happens is this. When the car is idling or at low speed (in a traffic jam once, slowing for a red light, idling in a driveway, etc.), three engine lights come on. The car then bucks at low speeds and has very little power when accelerating from a stop. When driving, it slowly increases in speed and then, at about 30 mph, starts behaving normally. Basically it acts like it hasn't downshifted and is in too high a gear. On one occasion, on the highway, it seemed also to be struggling to go 60 mph, as if in too low a gear. I had the car looked at in october of 2014, after it happened two more times in quick succession. They were unable to replicate the issue ordetermine what it was, but updated the car's software. The problem didn't recur until june of 2015. It's now happened twice more in quick succession, and i intend to have it serviced again. Clearly this is a big problem because when the issue occurs the car is unable to accelerate at all quickly. Trying to merge onto a highway under such circumstances is dangerous.the problem eventually resolves itself after you go through several cycles of driving the car, turning it off, driving it again for a while, turning it off, etc. The car's misbehavior lessens and then stops, and eventually the engine lights turn off.

When driving from 30 to 40 mph the vehicle start vibrating and shaking. After 40 mphthe vibration disappear. It seems many drivers for the 2012 honda crv are experience the same issue. It seems honda corporation has not provided any solution.

Driver's side does not heat nor defrost driver's side window due to heater core problem.it's getting worse each winter.i now need to drive with a blanket! also, extremely loud grinding noise upon cold start.started about 8 months ago and is really concerning.

We have a problem with noise when starting in cold weather.there is a hesitation sometimes when driving like not getting fuel.

The drivers's side heating vents produce little to no heat. The passenger side heat vents function normally. It seems that there is some kind of blockage in the heater core where the heat should be originating from. This happens at all times, even after car is warmed up to normal operating temperature.

Low heat on driver's side of car compared to passenger side caused by clog in the heater core.i found many complaints online and it seems to be a known problem/defect.it causes significantly slower defrosting on the driver's side that decreases visibility if someone does not have over 30 minutes to let the car idle long enough to defrost in cold weather. Not only does it waste gas but it is now a fineable offense to leave a car idling outside your home or work where i live.

My cr-v presents itself witha loud grinding noise at start, caused by a defective, vtc actuatorwhich is referenced in honda service bulletin 09-010. This problem began in 2008, and is on going. This defect seriously affects resale value, and potentially can cause catastrophic engine failure. This repair should be covered by honda's 60k power train warranty, but honda says at the current time there is no fix for this problem, which they have been working on for several years.i have contacted my dealer and honda usa numerous times without resolution, as the frequency and intensity of the problem worsens. There are numerous unresolved complaints and videos on the internet about this defect. I have consulted a lemon law attorney, but because honda makes no effort to repair the problem, it doesn't qualify.

When driving the vehicle and i depress the ex the car vibrates , and feels life if it will cut of no one can fine the problem and no check engine lights , and no codes come up when scan

The vehicle makes a loud noise on startup that lasts for 2 or 3 seconds.it usually happens after the vehicle has been sitting for several hours.

Go to use key to manually unlock door. Key turns freely but doesn't do anything.from what i am reading this has been a recall for my year model crv.

1) water leaking in the trunk from the tether compartment and getting back trunk wet2) water leaks in the trunk area when the car is driven through the car wash unsure if this would be a workmanship issue

Defected airbags

The heater on my2012 honda crv has cold air on driver side and hot air on passenger side.the driver side defrost, side vent and heat all cold. I purchase the car new and has never really needed to use the heater. The few times i turned the heater on i thought that it was just taking a long time to get warm and just turned it off because the cold air blowing was worst than turning it off, and most times was only going a short distance. I didn't realize until much later that it was getting hot on the passenger side and not the driver side.i live where it warm most of the year and rarely need to use the heater, not until recently when i turned it on and realized it wasn't working properly. There are many complaints on line about this issue with the honda crv from 2012 on to newer models. Why is there not a recall on the honda crv? this is not fair to the consumers because when you take the car in to the honda dealer for repairs, they want to charge you a few hundred dollars to fix an issue that they know is a problem. If a consumer drive across country from a warm area to a cold area not knowing the heater is not working properly, they are going to be in danger, especially ifsmall children or an elderly person or persons arein the car.the dealer or service department at honda is not going to tell customers that thishas been an ongoing issue for years. They are going to continue to charge customers to have this expensive repair done until nhtsa does it job to contact owners of this particular modelor require honda service departments report all the repairs they have done on the heater because of the exact same problem starting with honda crv 2012 through honda 2020. This is the least that nhtsa should do. Consumers that purchase these vehicles and trusted honda to do the right thing needs your help now, not 10 years from now.

Heat on left side of vehicle does not blow out hot.this appears to be a common diagnosed problem with the 2012-2014 honda cr-v.very disappointed in this issue and no recall.expect more out of a honda with 65,000 miles! this is a big safety issue when the defroster will not defrost the window....

The car is a 2012 honda cr-v lx awd. The driver's side heat is significantly lower than the passenger side heat. This is a know issue, honda tsb 14-063, low driver's side heat. The low driver's side heat makes driving in the snow dangerous as there is not enough heat to adequately defrost the windshield. The driver's side windshield wiper will also start to ice up the passenger side is fine. I measured a 40 - 50 degree f temperature differential between the far passenger and driver side vents using a thermocouple display device. This occurs while the vehicle is in motion or stationary and on city streets and highways.

I purchased my 2012 crv in april 2012 brand new and since the winter of 2013 i started noticing crackling/rattling noise when the temperature drops. I contacted curry honda and was given the run around. Finally in november 2014 when the temperatures started dropping again i wasn't taking no for an answer. I brought it in i was told the noise had to be duplicated in order to figure out what the problem was. Needless to say i left that afternoon not knowing what the issue was. I started doing my own research and found blogs and youtube videos of other 2012 crv's with the same issue. I contacted american honda and was given a case number. I brought the vehicle back to curry honda on 12/9/2014 and was called by the service advisor on 12/10 that the issue was the vtc actuator sb-09-010. The part was replaced. I continued to hear the noise and was advise by my case manager to bring it back to the dealer. On 1/6/15 i dropped the vehicle off and was called on 1/7/15 that again the issue is vtc actuator but that part has to be remanufactured which the engineers are aware but no part yet. The case was closed with no resolution no compensation. I contacted the dealer's customer service rep tasha davis by email on 10/27/15 since the vehicle at start up this morning made the same exact noise. I contacted by tasha and was told there's no answer and i should reopen the case with american honda. I called them this afternoon and was told by the rep that there's no answer no solution nor is honda compensating its customers. This is very disappointing and frustrating. I'm still making payments on this vehicle. I was told corey is the dealers american honda rep but after numerous attempts on trying to get in contact with him, i haven't spoken to him yet. When i purchased the crv i thought i was getting a brand new good working car but what i got was a new car with a faulty engine part.

It is well documented by honda that there is an issue with heater cores on these cars.heater will eventually become plugged and not work.heat is significantly cooler on drivers side vents than passenger side.my complaint is without heat to defrost windshield in winter conditions it will become a visibility issue due to not having the ability to defrost the windshield.and potentially cause a crash.honda is very much aware of this issue, yet is charging customers that are out of warranty to rectify the issue.i have 46k miles on my car and am having heater core issues?i noticed the issue early on and it has gotten progressively worse.had i of known what it was i would have had it fixed under warranty.honda tsb number is 14-063.temperature differential from passenger side to driver side in my car is 40+ degrees.

I was driving in town at about 15 mph and was slowing for a left turn when the vehicle surged forward, the surge lasted for about 3 seconds, i applied the brakes but am not sure if this stopped the speed surge or it went away on its own.so fare this has only happened the one time and in no traffic, but am ver concerned about future incident's.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the vehicle was working up to standard. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 6,242.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph and stopped for a traffic stop. As the contact attempted to accelerate from the stop, there was a delayed response from the vehicle. The failure recurred ten times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer three times where the contact was informed by the manufacturer that there was a defect in the vehicle. The technician was unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the safety issue. The approximate failure mileage was unavailable.updated 01/05/13*lj updated 02/6/2013

Car accelerated out of control. I was going in my garage. Ice at front of garage. I tapped the accelerator and i ended up in my garage wall, damaging my car and kitchen. This is the second time this has happened. A year and a half ago,the car accelerated out of control in my neighbors driveway and hit the garage door. ...updated 04/21/15

On august 22, 2021 at approximately 8:00 pm, my daughter and i were riding in my 2012 honda crv on cassie hill, a very steep and windy road in st thomas, virgin islands.as we approached the base of the hill at a bend, i applied breaks. The car lurched forward and picked up speed. I again applied the breaks as the car continued to pick up speed while going up the hill. However, the breaks did not reduce the speed. It did not work.i put the car in neutral and the lower gears but it did not slow down. As we were approaching the most steepest and windiest part of the road and with the car gaining more speed, i steered the car to the right side of the hill.the car traveled for some distance and flipped over.all air bags were successfully deployed.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would accelerate on its own. The contact had to release the accelerator pedal to slow down the vehicle. The failure recurred numerous times. The dealer test drove the vehicle, but could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made ware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000. Updated 06/21/17*lj*as

Bought a 2012 honda cr-v 8/2015.dealer service was on 10/15/2015. Advised 2 change differential fluid (57,000 mi) charged to change differential fluid, but there is a judderwhen accelerating in low gears. It stops when easing up on the gas pedal. It typically occurs when the vehicle shifts (automatic transmission) between the 1st and 2nd gears. The only way to stop it is by removing foot from gas pedal or accelerating car quickly to higher speed. The issue affects the ability to safely accelerate to proper speed. Begins when accelerating from a stopped position all the way up until car reaches about 40-45 miles per hour. Occurs on all types of road conditions but is very pronounced when driving on a flat surface.approx.may, 2019 i was stopping 4 a light-car accelerated on own-put in neutral, but rpm shot up again.braked and put it back in drive. Hondadiagnosis found no defects .learned of recalls concerning this problem& the costly fix.addressed/honda universe in toms river. Richard mootz, service direc. Says they can't help me. It hasn't been resolved and judder continues.i am up to date with all my oil changes and maintenance. And still have apprx. $4,000. Loan to pay on crv.

Ibought a new crv in september 2012.the only problem i have been having is that at certain times, usually at slower speeds when i step on the gas there is a 2-3 second delay before the car accelerates.during this hesitations period the engine does not rev and the car just coasts.this has happened 15 times the past year.this creates a major concern when i'm trying to merge into traffic or pull out from an intersection.note, my foot was not on the brake and i've had the econ switch in both on and off mode and the problem still occurs.i took my car to the dealer in february 2013 at which time it had 3,500 miles on the odometer.the service department was unable to duplicate the problem.in september 2013 i had work done on an accord i own and i showed the service advisor copies of 6 reports thru safercar.gov.the advisor did not have any response.i now have 8,000 miles on my crv.i recently reported the problem to honda customer service and they said they haven't had any similar problems reported.in my opinion they are wrong as there has to be something causing this.at least i have it on file with honda.

When pulling into a parking spot in a parking structure, as i prepared to stop, the automobile, i think, inexplicably accelerated, crashing into the concrete barrier wall. The airbag deployed. To sum up, i think that my car accelerated by itself.

The contact owns a 2012 honda crv. The contact stated that while pulling out of a parking space at 10 mph the vehicle rpms started to increase excessively then there was a sudden acceleration. The vehicle drove over a curb, crash into a building and then rolled over. The contact did not have any physical injuries.the vehicle was destroyed. The police were notified and a report was filed.the dealer was notified which offered no assistance. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 2,000.

Sun visor will not stay up.replaced once and only worked for one day.honda dealership ordered a second one and we were told that it would not work either, that it was an american honda issue.we were told that it was no use to replace it that it would just happen again.

Upon leaving work, wife heard a wind noise coming from the sunroof, as if it was open.upon sliding back the cover (slightly), she noticed the glass was shattered (with a big hole), and bulging outward or toward the interior.she was not around any other vehicles so it is unlikely the cause was a bouncing rock or pebble.upon calling the dealership where the car was purchased, they referred us to a local auto glass shop.upon calling honda of america, they referred us to our insurance company.by the way, the car is still under full warranty. What can we do?it should be under warranty, shouldn't it?

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v . The contact stated that there was a line on the driver's side mirror that caused dizziness while operating the vehicle. The line in the mirror was part of the mirror's design. The manufacturer was not contacted in regard to the issue. There were no repairs and the vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 150 and the current mileage was 400.

When i attempted to move the sun visor to block the sun coming in the drivers side window, it fell out of the overhead. I had to pull over and stop the car while holding the visor. With luck, i was on a rural road with no traffic. I was able to put it up in place and lock it into the clip to hold it. I contacted my local dealer and took it in to have them look at it. They said that they would order a new one. After a couple weeks when they didn't call, i called them and found out that the visor was on backorder. It took about five weeks before they got the new visor.i took the car in to have it fixed and after a couple of hours the service rep told me that the new part didn't work and that they didn't know why. They said that they were going to contact honda technical for a resolution, and they would have an answer in about two days. The next day i found out thepassenger side sun visor was doing the same thing. When they didn't call, i called them and got the two day story again. After the third time that they didn't have an answer, i called honda's main customer service and registered a complaint. I got a complaint number and was told an investigator would contact me. She did, and we discussed the problem. The next morning the local honda dealer service manager called and wanted me to bring the car in, and they would give me a loaner. It took them about four more days to fix the problem. When i picked the car up i discussed what they had done to fix the visor, and found out that they hadto get eight new units before they got two good ones.i feel that this is a safety hazard as the driver could easily become distracted and have an accident. Honda must realize by now that their sun visors are a piece of junk. I suspected that when i first heard that the sun visors were on back order.you need to make them fix this problem before someone gets hurt.

The windshield sprayer on the honda cr-v 2012 freezes under 30 degrees and does not work to clean the windshield. I can not drive my cr -v in the snow because visibility could be zero and i would not be able to clear the snow from my car. I just can not see out my windshield.you would think honda would have a better design for there new cr-v. In the snow storm, i had to open my driver's side window and drive home looking out that window to get home safely. I can not believe that in 2014 we can not have a car whose windshield sprayer worked properly in the snow!!!that is a safety issue.

Rear window shattered following use of electric rear window defogger. Outside air temperature was about 30 degrees f, active freezing drizzle. Started the engine and without delay began driving and then turned on rear window electric heat switch to improve rear visibility, which worked. I left the switch on until we reached our destination about 8 to 10 minutes later, parked the car inside a garage, shut off the engine, exited, all vehicle windows seemed intact when we departed the car. We did not come in contact with any object or experience any impact. We went inside the house, then by remote control closed the garage door. Next morning i went into the garage and discovered a large hole in the rear window, broken glass throughout the interior rear of the crv, on the floor of the garage around the rear of the car, and when i opened the overhead garage door, discovered broken glass all over the ground as much as six feet outside the garage door, as though the forceful window breakage had occurred in the few minutes after we left the car and before the garage door had closed. Honda service representative stated they do not work on window glass. The commercial window glass technician who replaced the window stated that this window had been replaced before.

The driver side defroster will not blow hot air. This makes it difficult to defrost the windshield in order to have proper visibility during winter driving conditions. This is especially true when the weather suddenly changes while driving and the windshield starts to frost over.the local authorized honda dealer performed tsb 14-063 which flushed the heater core with clr and fresh water.this did not solve the problem. Again, the passenger side is blowing extremely hot air, but the driver side is cool. This tsb was issued in november of 2014 for a 2012 vehicle. Obviously a heater core should not be clogged with contaminants after 2 years while running approved honda antifreeze in the cooling/heating system. The tsb also explains to the technician how to check for proper movement of the mixture door for fresh air. Honda says that the only recourse is to pay for a heater core replacement with a cost of over $1200.if this has been a long-term well-known issue by honda they should pay to fix the issue since it is a manufacturering issue and is a safety issue which greatly affects visibility in winter, which can also make the vehicle unusable if the windshield cannot be defrosted.even when the vehicle has been running for hours, the driver side still blows cooler air unlike the passenger side.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the sun visor only covered two-thirds of the side window, leaving a large portion of the window unblocked and making it difficult for him to see as the sun glared through the window while driving. The dealer and the manufacturer were both notified of the failure but neither offered any assistance. The failure and current mileages were 400.

Windshield sprayer freezes at any temp under 30 degrees.either there is a flaw in the design of the spray or the slope of the hood which allows the sprayers to freeze temps under 30 degrees.this make driving in snow weather very dangerous.i have seen many complaints about this online.

No heat on driver side vents. Will not defrost driver side windshield. Very difficult and dangerous driving conditions for my wife. Honda dealership where vehicle was purchased quoted $1,450 for repair of heater core on a 5 year old vehicle with 80,000 miles. This is not acceptable. Dealership offered no help in the matter and referred me to corporate. If no help from corporate, this will be the last honda my family will buy. We are, or were a complete honda family as every member of our family, (6) all drive honda's. Has their quality of vehicles declined this much. Any help much appreciated!

Tsb 14-063 failure or plugging of the heater core. Not allowing the driver side vents to defrost my windshield. It is 5 degrees outside and there is little/no heat coming from the drivers side vents, but the passenger side is warm. Continually happening.

I am writing to see the issue i am facing with my car is a safety concern or not. I contacted honda and they indicated all of their honda crv 2012 models are designed the same way to protect the interior electric mechanism of the car. I have a visibility problem when it is raining or there is moisture on the side windows (all four sides including driver side) of my honda crv. So when it rains or there is moisture on the side window while the car was sitting their overnight, i am having difficulty to wipe off any water droplets or moisture by sliding my side window down. I have tested many other cars. All of them squeezes off the water on the window by just sliding the window. My honda crv doesn't allow me to do that. I brought this to attention back in 2012 to honda. I was advised to always to properly wipe off my windows with a clean cloth before driving.i understand that it my responsibility to ensure i have clear visibility before starting to drive. I have been doing this since 2011. My question was what if it raining heavy and i am driving. There is an urgent need to see cars behind me using my side-view mirror. I slide my window to have a clear visibility and close my window back again. Again their a need to do so? should i keep doing these over and over?

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while traveling 65 mph, the driver's side windshield wiper blade pulled rain into the contact's field of vision, decreasing her visibility of the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was advised that the entire driver's side windshield wiper needed to be replaced. The windshield wiper was replaced but did not rectify the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximately failure mileage was 1,200 and the current mileage was 18,000.

The windshield wiper speed are very inadequate.when set to the fastest speed the wipers don't work well.the wipers tend to move faster the faster you are driving. Sitting still wipers don't move. When it is raining hard and fast the wipers do such a poor job it's impossible to see.

I was driving my honda cr-v approx 60 miles an hour on the highway in fort smith, arkansas.i heard a loud pop and the drivers side window exploded and collapsed. I immediately drove to the dealership which was close by to have the auto examined.i contacted honda to notify them of the issue and neither honda or the dealership had any thoughts on what may have caused the window to explode other than a foreign object hitting the window.this type of repair was not covered under warranty according to honda. I was not close to any other vehicles at the time the window exploded. I was also not near a large truck or a mowing vehicle that would have thrown up debris that could have hit the side window. I want to make sure that there is not any underlying issue that caused this problem such as any pressure on the window mechanism or problems related to excessive temperatures such as our area has been having.this potentially could have caused a dangerous accident and or a fatality.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the passenger side windshield wiper blade failed which caused water to accumulate and obstructed the drivers view. The failure was recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact how the windshield was designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 3,000. Updated 10/16/12the consumer stated the passenger side blade throws water to the driver's side impairing the driver's vision. This occurs when the wipers are on medium or high speed. I went through two windshields made by honda for this car.i get a chip or crack in the windshield almost monthly.i've also owned a honda element and honda civic.every single windshield made by honda is exactly the same.the chips are a danger to visibility and to the structural integrity of the windshield during an accident. For the latest windshield, i went to henderson glass and they installed an aftermarket windshield not made by honda.i've had the new windshield for 6 months now and not one single chip for crack.i'm finding blogs all over the internet with hundreds of honda owners all in the same boat.somebody please do something about honda windshields.there was a class action lawsuit against honda when i owned the honda element. I had sent in receipts for 3 windshields and multiple chip repairs on all of them and was awarded over $1000 from that.but, honda never fixed the problem with the windshields.i bought a new one after that the chips persisted every single month.the chips happen on the expressway, on regular roads, dirt roads and and anywhere and any time the car is in motion. I'm begging someone to do something, please!!!!!!

This has now happened twice, in early 2014 and early 2015. Driving on the highway in a snowstorm, the windshield wipers work fine for a while, and then rather suddenly the windshield ices up to a point that visibility is extremely poor. The wipers themselves fail, and no amount of defrosting/heat directed at the windshield will help. The only thing that helps is pulling off the highway and manually de-icing them. The problem with that, of course, is that one is not always in the position to be able to do this, and certainly not immediately once the problem starts. The first time this occurred was in awful traffic in a snowstorm with my two daughters in the car. There were accidents all along our route, so even with visibility the driving was hairy. There was nowhere to pull over for a long period in order to fix the problem. It was without a doubt the worst and most frightening driving experience i've ever had. After that experience, i purchased and installed brand new wipers. They work great in the rain, and i was hopeful about their performance in snow. But then i encountered the problem again the following winter. Happily, on the second occasion i was able to pull off the highway relatively soon after the problem started. My guess is that it has something to do with the shape of the windshield, or with the depth of the well at the base of the windshield.

Heater/defroster on driver's side not putting out warm air.windows not being defrosted - safety issue.honda has long recognized this problem and issued a service bulletin 14-063 but refused to correct with charging several hundred dollars. This should be fixed no-charge as it is a safety issue.

The heater/defroster failed to operate as it had in the past on december 6, 2013. Previous to that date the air conditioner failed to cool properly starting in august, 2013. Hazy white material coated the inside of the windshield requiring constant wiping so we ceased using the air. Over a several week period in fall 2013 the left side heater/defroster failed to heat the left side of the car and the windshield defroster failed requiring us to stop the car and wipe the outside of the left side of the windshield. The right side of the cabin heater blew some hot air and some hot air reached the inside of the windshield. The dealer service manager at schaumburg honda listened to my complaint and after several minutes returned to tell me all operations were normal and i needed to use the recirculation to equalize cabin temperature. I immediately traded the car since the windshield was unable to defrost and cabin to heat. Search google under" heater on cr-v doesn't work" to see multiple stories of same an videos of attempts like mine to work heater/defroster complaints.

On the driver side, cold air blows close to the driver side door.unable to make it warm.very uncomfortable in the winter.i see that this is happening to someone else.

Hi the problem with the vehicle is than the heater just work on the passenger side and driver side it just blow cold air i read looking into internet than is no just my car i found a couple complaint regarding de same problem this happenin stationary or been driven thank you

Driving down the interstate, all windows rolled up. Ac powered on and the passenger side window exploded. Nothing hit window, nothing even in close to vehicle. Very small child rides in this car.

I was driving on the freeway with no cars around and i heard a loud sound like a gunshot then my sunroof exploded and glass showered down on me.when i reviewed the damage, the glass was pushed outwards and there was no sign something had impacted it.

The contact owns a 2012 honda cr-v. While driving at an unknown speed, the sun roof shattered without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician stated the sun roof needed to be replaced. No repairs were made to the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000.

While going north on i-35, 2 miles south of austin, texas a very loud noise was felt and heard.the sunroof had cracked into thousands of small pieces and a large holeformed as i drove with glass flying behind me.the hole in the center of the sunroof had edges sloping upwards indicating the force went out of the car bending the glass outwards.there is no evidence any object hit the sunroof from the outside.the outside temperature was 64f degrees.i believe the factory installed sunroof glass is defective causing a very unsafe driving condition.i have pictures of the sunroof.

The inside rear tires wear out in about 3000 miles (the rest of the tires are ok)you cannot see the wear unless your under the car and know they have a camber problem that they should take care of its very dangerous when wires come throughand looking mostly at good tread from outside in.they need to supply the camber control arm(adjustable fixed)these are tires in the rear of my 2012 honda crv exl awd. Honda dealers just say they dont have a problem. The fixed will cost at least 500.00 plus another set of tires.

Tires that came with the car did not even make it to 20k miles, the replacement ones had 2 flats in them. The rubber in other areas of the car is cracked, coming off, including around the doors, windows and steering wheel.car is parked at my house and used on a 2 lane road only. I believe the rubber is defective from honda and they will not take responsibility for it. Honda dealer states it's because of the sun and because hawaii is hot weather-give me a break-hawaii weather is mild year round.
