Takata recall/nhtsa recall 16v-346faulty airbag (passenger side) has not been replaced by honda dealer. Was first notified of airbag defect via service receipt provided at time of service for an oil change. Date of service when the problem was first noted was jul 1, 2016. Per recall letter, if dealer is unable to repair or replace the defect in the vehicle within 60 days of the first point of contact regarding the recall, a formal complaint may be filed. It has been 60+ days and the vehicle remains with the defective airbag. Honda states that they do not have an estimated time of repair as it could take months or even a year to fix the airbag defect. Further, i have not been offered an alternate vehicle/rental as it is a great inconvenience to indefinitely disable the passenger side of the vehicle. I continue to drive my vehicle as is.

"takata recall"i am a concerned parent of two teenagers that are driving cars effected by the airbag recall. I received a letter for my sons ford mustang in september 2015, and for my daughters 2009 honda cr-v march 2016. I have contacted the manufacturer ford and honda, and have not been given any information about when parts will be available. I feel that there is a lack of information being provided by the manufacturer, as well as specific information being provided by the nhtsa. I live in a designated high risk area, and would like to know what my options are for keeping my children safe from being killed by a malfunctioning airbag deployment.
I received a recall notice on march 2016 regarding air bag defects and called the hondadealer but they did nothave the part.3 months have elapsed since my original call and they still have not received the part.

Honda issued two safety recalls for my 2008 honda crv on 2/12/2016 and 5/23/2016. They informed me that both driver and passenger airbag inflators have safety issue, and it is advised that it is unsafe to drive the vehicle. I attempted to schedule and fixed the airbag, but they always inform me that they do not have the part to repair my vehicle.this is the only vehicle i have for my daily commute. I am hoping that they will have the parts ready soon. However, it seems that they are not proactively follow up on the airbag orders. Please assist.
Takata recall: i purchased a 2009 honda cr-v in florida in january for my daughter, just prior to the recall being released. She had to return to school in texas without the car since it was unsafe for her to drive. The dealership in florida will not provide a rental car for her in texas because the honda is in florida. I have no means to get the honda to a texas dealership as it is unsafe to drive. So we are stuck with an undriveable car, and my daughter has no transportation. We were told the airbag could not be replaced until "summer". Is there anything that can be done?

Takata recallmy car was taken in for the airbag recall for replacement.when i was called to come and get my car i asked if the driver and passenger side airbag had been replaced and was told yes.upon arrival at the honda dealership service department i was told they had made a mistake, only the driver's side airbag had been replaced.needless to say i was very upset, asked to speak to someone and was given the number for the main american honda office.i called them right at the dealership and was told at this time only the one airbag was on recall, i voiced my serious concern as my car had not been on the recall list a year ago and now it was and i have 2 grandchildren that frequently ride in my car.i requested that they disconnect the passenger side airbag, they said they could not do that, they tried to assure me it was safe for me to drive my car with my grandchildren.i requested that it be noted i was not satisfied.they gave me a case number. Right now i am in god's hands as this is the only transportation i have.it makes no sense that both airbags were not replaced when they had my car and replaced the driver's.when the updated lists come out i imagine since i live in florida i will eventually receive another recall notification, and this time for the passenger side.both airbags need to be replaced at the same time.

Takata recall: received recalled letter in march 2016 which started that repair will be done this summer. In july i received a second letterwith a warning that honda suggested that to avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat. I called the number listed in the letter and was toldi can have a loaner until repair is done which i got through a localdealership. Within a week i was notified that the repair can be done. On august 3rd the driver's side was done; was told they didn't know when the passenger side will be done and that i need to return the loaner car. I have made several calls to honda division informing them of the inconvenience this has on my family fornot having any one sitting in the front passenger's seat. Each time i was told that a manager will call me back. As of today no one has returned a call. It seems that because i was using a loaner car the driver's section repair was done quickly. I am disappointed and angry that they don't care what the effects are to my family. The knowledge of this recall for my familyis now close to six months and still not yet taken care of.

While driving on the nys thruway southbound on a clear, dry day, we were about to exit onto exit 13n when a speeding sedan cut us off before we could exit and we had to steer the vehicle back onto the thruway.the 2009 honda cr-v went out-of-control and we weaved over 3 lanes of traffic and hit the cement median, bounced off and hit it again.the vehicle was totaled.in addition, the passenger front safety bags partially deployed and side bags did not deploy at all.my husband and i were ambulanced to the emergency room.i suffered numerous bruising and abrasions to the chest.he suffered massive bruising and 4 broken ribs.there is definitely a steering issue with the 2009 honda cr-v and should not be rated a safe vehicle.we had previously leased a 2006 and had no issues with that model.

July 2016, received 2nd letter from honda again stating a letter would be sent when parts are available and "suggesting" that i avoid having front seat passengers until the repair is performed.4-5 months passed between issuance of the 2 letters; how long am i expected to avoid using my front seat??there have been reports that the air bag danger is more imminent in areas with high heat/humidity. I live in southeast louisiana. Shouldn't these repairs be expedited???
I hit a car infront of me that was stopping while traveling at full speed, approximately 40 mph. The damage to the front end is extensive, to the point that the driver side door can not be opened, yet the airbag(s) did not deploy.

Takata recall - i have been trying to get the air bags replaced for months now at honda of santa maria, ca. They said the driver's side air-bag is still on backorder and they have now ordered the passenger airbag. After receiving a letter in the mail regarding the recall saying that i shouldn't have a passenger even in my front seat, i am very uncomfortable even driving my car. I want it fixed asap, and it is very inappropriate when it is a matter of safety to be kept waiting such an extraordinarily long time.
Takata recalli contacted the local honda dealership in march 2016 when i rec'd the recall notice.i was told they did not have any "loaner" vehicles and that they would contact me once the replacement parts arrived.having not heard from the dealership, i called again on 11july 2016 only to be told the parts were never ordered and they said they would now order.i again called the dealership on 19aug'16 inquiring when our crv would be repaired and was told that the parts are not in yet and that they would contact us when they arrive.no alternate vehicle was offered during this conversation.i now have a recall on the airbag for my 2010 honda accord as well. I notified the dealership of this recall as on 19aug'16 and said they will orderthe necessary parts.i now have two vehicles that honda says the "defects in these vehicles could kill or injure you or other people in your vehicle".we are starting to feel very uneasy about driving either vehicle and honda doesn't seem to want to fix our vehicle(s) or provide a loaner vehicle or two.not sure what to do?thank you.[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall. I went to boardwalk honda at 6807 tilton rd, egg harbor township, nj 08234 last may 14, 2016 for the takata driver's side airbag recall on my honda cr-v 2009 model. I was told that it still was not available. I asked if they could provide me a temporary alternative transportation but they said at that time all vehicles reserved to them from enterprise were in use already. I kept on following up with them every week and even asked if they could reimburse me if i rented a car. They told me to call american honda about that. Unfortunately, american honda's number, 1-888-234-2138 automatically redirects you to an automated answering system which tells the caller to coordinate with your dealer. I have tried calling other dealers but they told me the airbag was vin specific and once it's ordered by one dealer, they can't order it again. I'm getting concerned because we have a 2 yr old and a newborn baby and it's been almost 3 months and i fear for our safety every time i use that car. I only want them to provide me a rental car while waiting for the parts to come and not give me the runaround every time i call them. I sincerely hope you could help with our situation. Thank you.

Takata recall. Hello my car has been on the recall list for over a year. At one point is honda going to be responsible with finding a fix? or how many more people have to be hurt before they are forced to do something? the light on dash for the airbag has come on and stayed on in the past. I've contacted my honda dealer and it would have costed me money to bring in my car. They said they would contact me when there was a fix for the airbag recall. I'm still waiting.
Takata recall. My car has been sitting at community honda since march 25, 2016. Ihave been in a rental vehicle ever since.i have talked to my dealer, they don't seem to care. I have talked to honda corporate and have been told the parts are ordered but they don't know when the dealer will get them. I am tired of this. All i want is for my car to be fixed and returned to me.i told honda corporate for all the money they are paying out in rental they could put me in a new cr-v.this is ridiculous and i just want resolution to this situation.

Takata recalli requested on april 2016, replacement of the air bag system per the "important safety recall"notice dated march 2016. This request was made early april 2016 to the service department of coggin honda of st. Augustine, st. Augustine, fl; state of florida registration # mv-40886. Since april 2016, i have called the dealership on numerous occasions and was told i was very low on their list. In fact, in may 2016 i was told there were only two replacements ahead of me. I have also requested a comparable replacement vehicle until my was repaired, but have always been told there was "no comparable vehicle available" from the rental company (avis) which the dealer uses for this purpose. I am concerned for my safety and that of my spouse, and am dissatisfied with the length of time this is taking to receive the service to which i deserve. I have received a second safety recall notice dated july 2016, which sounds to be a more serious matter that needs to be resolved immediately. I would appreciate this condition be rectified, and look to this agency to get the results i have been seeking with my dealership, to no avail. Delay in replacing parts for takata recall- damaged rotors and pads. I got a honda recall notice and was asked to not drive the car due to safety concerns. Honda took 3 months to replace the parts and my car was not driven for 3 months. This caused my brakes rotors and pads to rust. I had put new rotors and pads two months before the recall. Now three months after the recalled airbag was fixed, honda is asking me to replace rotors and pads again for the cose of $1100. Due to delay on replacing the parts by honda - my new rotors and pad were rusted and i reached out to american honda to repair my car. It is safety concern for me now as it makes too loud noise and heavy pulsating vibrating noise while applying the break. I do not feel comfortable driving the car and asking honda to respond soon - but had had not response for the case 05096581.

Takata recall
Takata recall- i rcvd the letter from honda in march 2016, stating parts would be available in summer 2016- called my dealer because i wasnt sure i would feel safe driving a deathtrap around (i decided i didn't want to leave my car at the dealership for months). Nothing was ever mentioned to me that i had to order the airbag myself. Nor does it state such in the letter. I called my dealer in the middle of summer 2016 since i had heard nothing- and of course no one answers in the service department. A couple weeks later my salesman calls to check in on me (courtesy call i suppose) and i mentioned the airbag. He transfers me to the service dept were i am informed i was supposed to order the airbag and that is why i have heard nothing. I have never dealt with a recall before but considering how serious this one is- why on earth wouldnt the parts just be shipped out and customers called to come in at their earliest convenience? or at the least a courteous call be made months ago. I bought a honda because they are supposed to be reliable cars. Not sure i will ever buy one again after this mess. My dealership is keeler honda, 1111 troy schenectady rd, latham ny 12110.

Just spent 3 and 1/2 months in a rent a car and the night before i pick it up i get a second recall for the passanger air bag. 2009 honda cr-v.consumer writes in regards to replacement parts no available to repair driver airbag recall notice.
Takata recall took vehicle to dealership on 5-23-17 for takata airbag recall.recently we received another airbag recall letter.called dealer thinking that we already had taken care of this matter.were informed that on 5-23-17 only the drivers airbag was replaced and now passenger bag needed to be replaced.why were both not done on 5-23-17? why have we been driving a car with an unsafe passenger air bag for 2 additional years and a total of 15,157 miles.all this time we thought we were driving a safe car, not playing russian roulette with the person riding in the passenger seat.

"takata recall"??nhtsa recall 16v-061. I received safety recall notice in march 2016. For this vehicle. The notice does not mention takata specifically. I notified o'neil honda dealership and have called monthly to check on status. I've been told that parts are on order and delay is due to national recall, shortage of parts and delay due to earthquakes in japan, where possible manufacture or distribution is located. Reasonable time of 60 days to make repair has passed. The only reason i am filing a complaint is due to having a similar issue with a toyota vehicle, where it took over 6 months to get a recall repair made.if honda & toyota and other auto manufactures are having problems getting there parts from outside the country. It seems reasonable to set up manufacture and distributions within the united states to solve the problem. This recall specifically regarding air bags is of extreme nature due to the number of affected vehicles. There have already been reported deaths and injury in my state of kansas.i expect the department of transportation to take and active role in expediting a resolution to this national safety issue. And furthermore to enact legislationto protect us citizens and demand accountability from automobile manufacturers, regarding their suppliers and the need for timely resolution. It seems reasonable to expect the auto makers to find an alternative solution, even if it means operating a manufacturing plant here in the us to make the parts required to meet the demand for this specific recall. Air bags are on a level with seat belts in saving lives. Its time to stop the excuses, the delays and long wait for the consumer. Where is the protection we are promised not only from big corporations, but our government as well.please, please take some action...now, not next year.

I was notified about 4 months ago that my car was subject to recall for both driver and passenger airbags.notice said parts would not be available until june 2016.i called marin honda the local dealer and was told they would order parts.today, july 11th, i got a call informing me that the passenger side airbag ordered was in and to set up an appointment for installation.i asked about the driver side airbag and was told it was "back ordered".i said i wanted to wait for both parts ordered for the recall replacement to be available so i didn't have to spend 2 days on this recall.i was told that the passenger airbag would not be held for me and may not be available when the driver side airbag was available.this is a known safety risk but honda is not giving recall replacement any priority, much less the safety of their customers.customer safety should be number 1 priority.

Going speed and car almost stutters, feels like looses power, rpm's raise when given gas but car will not increase speed, continues to slow down until vsa light comes on. On other occasions the car abrutly stops, feeling like the brakes lock up once again, until the vsa light comes on. I have read multi post from crv owners having this same issue as well as a post about a class act law suit already involving honda for the vehicle stability alert system.

My wife drove a honda crv 2009 which we purchased last year and had a front collision with a tree on 2/19/1010. The front of the car was seriously damaged and my wife was sent to er with reported head injury. But the airbag never came out. We believe this is a defect which should be accountable for the injury.
2009 honda crv. Consumer writes in regards to a head on collision in which the vehicle airbag did not deploy *tgwthe consumer stated the crash was a result of a reckless driver, in which her vehicle was severely damaged. The consumer stated the seat belt locked and caused painful injuries.
The front door accutuator had to be replaced -- i lived with it for a year beacuse it was so expensive to replace -- this has been a problem for honda and they have done nothingabout it and not reaclled the 2009 crv
Takata recall. My car front passenger door locks makes loud noise when locking the door.there was a recall for same issue on same model with specific year and modles but when i call they said the recall is not for my vin number.how come some of the same models are recalled and not others.i have 63,000 miles on my honda.possible door acutaror replacement.
More than a year ago i contacted your agency about recalls for my honda crv 2009, but never got any response. However, i am constantly bombarded by entities offering extended warranty. Front passenger window does not raise, it is faulty. No response from john eagle honda where said vehicle purchased in 2014. Further research disclosed recall on such vehicles but up to 2006. Window does not work whether stationary or in motion.
I'm a retired auto body tech try to get help for a lady, disabled school teacher who's husband is in a nursing home. She is the type of customer for honda, that's noteworthy.owned two civics in the past, bought new. She is starting to need her honda more as it's getting her to increasing dr. Apps. 64,000 miles and garage kept and documented maintenance, oil etc. The air-conditioning stopped working on the way to visit her husband. Would honda, management help me to help her by supplying her with the pump or cost of and i will get the labor and charge the system. The band wagon we would preach from would be huge. 30 + years as a auto body tech, working for many car lots large and small, and knowing numerous mechanics, collectively agree that with mileage at the low 64,000, and garage kept. Regular maintenance and driven by a school teacher. Renew our faith that honda is not just a multi billion dollar business that cares. First by offering us the public a very well built auto that's safe and dependable. Help this poor lady who gave herself to teach. Help and i'll praise you daily the rest of my life. Feel free to use my plea / story for ad purpose.s. [xxx] is the grandma / mom in every family. Thank you. My name is [xxx]. The cr v was her decision that she bought from monies her grandmother left her. A little left went for facelift on her kitchen. Come on honda, blow me away..please.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Driver door unlocks whenever the car makes a right turn. Dome light goes on.door re-locks when stopping and starting, unlocks again when turning.in city traffic, door unlocks and relocks constantly. (making normal unlocking/locking clicking sound).i took it to the honda dealer.they said they test drove it - said they could not duplicate the issue and tried to send me away.i requested that their mechanic ride with me for one more test...the door unlocked when i pulled out of the lot. It locked and unlocked three more times in the next 250 yards. The mechanic then agreed that there was a problem.honda seems to be in denial.
The vehicle will lock itself while sitting in the garage or elsewhere.it has happened quite often but this particular time i unlocked it with the key fob and walked to the mailbox (about 60 ft) and back and it was locked.it has done this sitting in the driveway, too.i have not noticed it unlocking by itself but that would really concern me.it locks all doors normally when i first pick up speed.it has always been garaged since new.
Drivers door lock actuator- my doors would not auto lock any longer when beginning to drive. The auto system continued to try auto lock while i was driving clicking back on and off trying to get the doors to lock while my vehicle was in motion. Also my doors would no longer lock with the key remote. My vin number fell outside the range for 2009 cr-v's with the same reported problem covered in the svc bullentine #14-083 for replacing the door lock actuator. I believe other vehicles are effected like mine which is a safety issue when the door lock will not activate while driving. This happens on city streets or on the highway.
The rear passenger door lock stopped working, then within days, the door locks started cycling constantly while the car was moving.also, the rear hatch would also not unlock. At times the remote would not unlock the doors. The repair was to replace the inner door handle, as the actuator was defective.
This is a common problem in multiple model years for the honda crv.you cannot make it happen by doing something and you can go weeks without it happening.as you are driving the warning letters tpms light up and the owner's manual tells you to immediately contact the dealer if this happens.i have taken the car to the dealer 4 times and also contacted honda case # [xxx].the dealer and honda said the problem is radio frequency interference with the system and cannot be corrected.when the tpms is lit the system is not working so you do not know if a low pressure in one or more of the tires is present.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
When i close my sunroof it opens back up half way. I had this happen 3 years ago and the assembly and drain were replaced. It just started to do it again.
Problem with door lock. Making noise while start driving -back door not locking.i did find out that honda have some issue with power doors. Went to dealer to find out if there is the recall.even when so many customers have problems-honda not facing problem.
I parked my 2009 honda crv in my garage and when i came out the next day the battery was dead. I put it on a charger, and when i came out to check it 2 hours later i noticed that the lights were on while the light switch was of off. I tried to start it again but the battery was still dead, but the lights still on. Its obvious that there seem to be something wrong. I'd like to know why would the lights go on,. On their own.
The door lock on my 2009 crv does not work, neither manually nor with the electronic "fob".i cannot get into the car.i went online on edmunds car forum and noted that this appears to be a widespread problem with honda crv.perhaps honda should be made to fix this problem at their own expense.this problem could potentially leave the car owner locked outside his/her car in the freezing cold with no access to a phone to call for help.please look into this matter.
I am submitting this complaint in regards to the honda door actuator situation. It is evident that honda has negligently omitted a vast majority of affected vehicles in their recentliability lawsuit recall. I personally have had several repairs on my 2009 crv door locks since i purchased it new in 2009 and am again experiencing continuous problems with the drivers side door lock actuator.based on my experience and numerous other comments from several social media outlets of 2009 crv owners, honda has negligently and purposefully omitted a vast majority of vehicles in their recall in an attempt to lessen the impact of their liability.
My car shut down in the road and wouldn't shift or start again. The transmission shot pieces of metal into it messing up the pcm.
Dash digital readout for gas, ,mileage, temp etc started blinking on and off and even disappear and then blink off and on.mechanic says requires replacement of micu unit at a cost of $600.vehicle no longer under warranty.
I had problems with the battery being dead.six times i had to charge the battery or have it towed in to be serviced.the first time the dealer charged the battery and said it was fine.the second time they replaced the battery.the third thru five time i had to charge the battery in my garage, after buying a charging unit.the six time i had it towed in from my garage to the dealer.i read on the internet that there was a problem with the a/c relay and i asked that it be replaced.the dealership said there problems with other years but not with the 2009.i also have an advantage extended warranty up to 10/23/2019 but they said it wasn't covered.i paid $90.94 to have the a/c relay replaced and so far the car is starting.i think the cost of $90.94 should have been covered by honda or my advantage warranty.
The tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) light illuminates when i have my cell phone plugged into the car charger.it stays on until i unplug the phone from the charger.this is ongoing and not just a one time incident.the car has been checked by a mechanic and the tpms system is operational with no problem.
My 2009 honda crv locks, malfunction, while driving and while it parked and no one is in the vehicle. My vehicle has even locked us in the vehicle.
Faulty door lock on driver passenger side (left side).when locked, the door will not unlock with the electric button.additionally, none of the other doors will unlock except the driver side front.you must manually unlock the driver passenger door to open up the other doors.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. That contact stated that while sitting in the vehicle with the engine off the doors independently locked. The automatic door locks was not a feature on the vehicle.the dealer stated that because the battery life was low, it was sending a faulty signal to the remote causing the doors to lock independently. The dealer replaced the battery and within three months, the failure recurred. The contact called the manufacturer and was advised to take the vehicle back to the dealer so they could duplicate the failure. The contact stated that this was a safety concern since the keys could be locked inside the vehicle. The failure mileage was 10,913.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving approximately 2 mph, there was a strong burning odor coming from the front end of the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the vehicle became hard to maneuver and the power steering assist failed. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the a/c compressor clutch needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 109,000. The consumer stated the belt had snapped and started to burn causing smoke to billow into the vehicle, as well asloss of power steering along with other functions. The front driver's side door lock actuator is failing. The door unlocks automatically as i'm driving. The instrument panel shows the door ajar when this happens. It happens when the car is stationary as well, causing the alarm to go off randomly day and night. Our neighbors are understandably furious. I slept in the car last night to keep it from going off - didn't want to be under the hood in chicago at 1am trying to disconnect the battery. The extended warranty on the car expired in august. Apparently, our model was not included in the recall or class action suit. Dealership is charging $300 minimum to "diagnose" and repair. Bothers me greatly that the company is keenly aware of this problem and yet i have to pay for them to tell me what i already know... They sold us a faulty product.
We have replaced the low beam headlights in this car at least 9 times since purchasing it in 2010. Twice in the past year and the bulbs just burnt outagain while my wife was driving home from work today in the dark. We have purchases oem, aftermarket, long life etc with the same result. The car was moving this time when the lights burned out.this vehicle is mostly driven on the highway about 100 miles a day, which is where my wife was today,at aproximately 70 mph.the 2002-2004 cr-v had a recall and this issue is all over the internet but there is zero resolution.every dealership i call say they have not seen this, which is hard to believe considering the information out on the web.this is a serious issue.
Having trouble with myignition switchhonda told me i do not push key all the way in , this doesnot happen every time i try to start car. But it does it enough to worry that my wife couldget stuck ina dangerousspot and switch will crap outthen what?
Drivers door lock sticks and sometimes does not unlock and can't even unlock manually. They drivers side back door is permanently stuck closed, can't unlock manually or with the key fob. Back hatch is permanently locked can't open at all because there is no way to unlock manually. This happens weather the car is in motion or stationary. I feel this is a safety hazard because in the event of an accident how am i to get my children out of the car safely and quickly. Just run all the way around the car until a door opens? what about my dog that i usually have in the back, how do i get him out? what if the car is on fire or if the car is flipped on the side with the working locks? it's crazy to me so many people are having problems with this in my vehicle year yet they left us out of the settlement to replace the locks.
On 1/28/2017 my daughter's 2009 honda crv caught on fire in our driveway and burned until it was a total loss.it only had 87,000 miles on it and seemed to be running perfectly that day.i had driven her car for one hour (a 44 mile trip), returned home, turned off the car, took the keys out of the ignition and went inside the house.about ten minutes later, one of my daughters heard a car alarm, we looked outside and saw flames shooting out of the front of the car.the fire department came and put out the fire, but it was a total loss.the firemen said that it started near the battery area, but we do not know what caused itthere was no sign of any problem while i was driving it.no indicator lights on and it was running great.this was a very frightening experience as i could have parked the car in our garage or it could have caught on fire while i was driving it home on the massachusetts turnpike, which is isolated.the driver's side airbag was replaced in june 2016 as required by the major airbag recall and the car was well maintained.
The locking system on my 2009 honda crv has not been working properly for several months. The front and back passenger side door will lock and unlock by itself, the driver side front and back will make squeaking noises like it is trying to lock and unlock and the back door will not open at all whether it is turned off or running. I thought for sure that this would be a safety recall because the doors will lock and unlock by themselves and it would be very easy for a small child to open the door and fall out. My husband called the honda dealership and told them about the issue and they admitted that it was a problem, however said that it was not considered a safety concern and recall has had not been put in place. They also said since it was no longer under warranty it would cost $400 per door to fix the locking problem. Basically they said that it was not a safety concern to honda that at any given time my two-year old can be locked in the car without me being able to get her out or even worse opening the door while the vehicle is moving and be seriously injured or killed. I have been a honda driver my entire life (7 cars total) and have never had anything bad to say about them until now. This is a very bad move on their part and have lost a very loyal customer.
Front passenger door lock is unlocking when all the other doors are locked and locking when the other doors are unlocked, i cannot lock all the doors on the car at the same time leaving the car and passengers vulnerable to theftwhen driving or when the car is parked.
Bought a crv honda last month.right after purchase, began getting large electrical shocks while opening or shutting doors--in a variety of shoes and clothing.contacted dealership and corporate office--all they could say was to spray the seats and floors with fabric softener.did so...lasted 7-10 days--not happy with vehicle for this reason--afraid to gas the vehicle due to the possibility of catching on fire.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. The contact stated that all the door lock actuators were not functioning. The dealer diagnosed that the door lock actuators needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. The contact heard an abnormal noise when the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on three occasions, but the failure was unable to be duplicated. On one occasion, the mechanic replaced the starter but the failure was not rectified. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
For the past month or so my car doors will not all unlock with the key fobs. The rear door and trunk will not always open. Additionally, when driving slow or making slow turns, the door locks will lock and or unlock as i am driving. Will be going to the dealer and hopefully have them fix this. This is a very dangerous problem, especially if one has small children.
The first occurrence involved the right front door lock and the tailgate lock. When attempting to lock the doors with either the key fob or the interior button lock, neither door would lock. After operating the car and stopping ,the doors would mysteriously lock then.
Attempted to park my vehicle and was unable to turn the key to eject it from the ignition.this has continued to happen intermittently, however, honda says they cannot recreate the problem, therefore they cannot fix the problem.the car is only 3 years old and i have to make several attempts to straighten the wheels in order to eject the key.this has been happening for approximately 2 weeks, very frustrating, parking and reparking until i can get the key out, and apparently it's my problem, not hondas!
2009 honda crv. Consumer states problem with vsa system *tgwthe consumer stated the dealer replaced the brake switch and vsa modulator. However, the light illuminated again. When i'm driving my honda cr-v 2009 at around 25 to 30 miles per hour i get a throbbing noise as if it were the transmission. I took it everywhere to see what's going on and no one could tell me whats going on. I bought this car brand new in 2009 two years latter they had to change my transmission in 2011 because of a similar problem. Please i need help to stop this throbbing i'm scared to drive the car. Because i feel i'm going to get into an accident when this happens. This happens everyday in the highway and regular streets. I don't know what to do this is my only vehicle.

The car started to leak oil at about 55000 miles. The oil leaks between engine and transmission. The honda dealer checked and said it may be caused by the gallery bolt and seal, the part numbers are 12208-p8c-a01 and 90401-pr4-000 and the transmission has to be removed to replace them, it's 16 hours' work. It's so unreliable and costly to fix.
Car suddenly slows down to about 18 mph.cannot speed back up.has happened several times in traffic.left overnight one time and started next morning.second time, left overnight and would not start next morning.turned off and on, off and on, finally ran normally.then, same day, while driving in traffic, same thing happened.slowed down to about 18 mph and barely made it back home.honda dealer says no open recall for this car?????? have a recall no.:19e068000 given to me by my mechanic.
A rattling noise erupted from underneath my 2009 crv, it was discovered that the heat shields mounts on the catalytic converters were rusted through at the mounts and were about to fall off the vehicle.the vehicle in only 3 years old, i am the second owner, purchased vehicle in feb 2010.after further inspection it was discovered that the catalytic converter heat shields were being held on by radiator hose clamps.this means that in just one year the mounts to the heat shied were already rusted through. I purchased this from a honda dealership.after calling the local honda dealership i was told this was normal and not covered through the rust warranty.heat shields are there for a reason and in order to prevent fires.
On july 31, 2015, while exiting i-95 northbound crossing from the florida to georgia state line from high density high speed vacation traffic, my 2009 honda cr-v serpentine (drive) belt snapped. I immediately lost power steering and other functions associated with the drive serpentine belt.i was traveling at least 45 mph as i had just exited the highway; my knuckles were white i was grabbing the steering wheel so hard trying to assess, at high speed and with vehicles in front and behind me going the same speeds, how to bring the vehicle to a safe stop.my wife and two young girls were with me and i feared that me and my entire family were be seriously injured or killed.subsequent inspection clearly identified a failed air-conditioning compressor clutch, that is the subject of honda tsb 12-072 (service bulletin sb-10056005-7115), that my vin is the subject of honda's extended warranty associated with tsb 12-072. The compressor clutch caused the compressor to wind-up/damage the belt when it could not travel over the drive wheel of the compressor. The only warning we had, in hindsight, was we lost air conditioningearlier in our trip to florida and the ac was blowing warm air and there was a noise coming from the compressor area.my entire family was terrified by what happened here -this seems like a defect that presents an unreasonable risk to safety and should be a recall, not an extended warranty.i could have been killed.had this happened on the highway 1 minute earlier, i could have been rear ended at high speed by car or, worse, truck.given the numerous blog posts about this problem, and the honda dealer service tech who said he said this is a common problem that can result in the drive belt getting destroyed by a failed ac compressor clutch, it seems that it should be a recall.

As the driver was pulling into a parking space under 10 mph, the vehicle had a sudden acceleration. The driver had just removed his foot from the accelerator. At the time of the acceleration there was no contact with the brake or accelerator. The car did not respond as the brakes were applied and the vehicle struck a cement barrier. (there is a police report filed for inspection)the damage to the vehicle was $ 2,500. There was no other vehicle involved and no injuries reported.

Brand new 2009 honda cr-v manufactured 12/08, purchased 12/27/08. Brought in today for fog light installation.service tech found that the oil pan is leaking! approx 100 miles on the vehicle. This should not be happening with a brand new vehicle.service must keep the car another 24 hours for repair.can't tell me how this happened. Will replace seal.
While stopping or stopped for traffic light(s), with foot on brake, engine revved up to 2k rpm without any action on my part. When light changed, and brake was released, acceleration and car performance became normal again. This has happened three separate times in the past six weeks. In addition, turning the a/c off or on had no effect on engine rpm. Note: during the anomaly, if transmission was moved from d to n, engine would rev up to 5k rpm, and would drop back to 2k rpm when transmission put back into d all this happened with foot still on the brake. For the record: car was taken to honda dealer twice for this anomaly, the memory dumped, and no data found. Honda claims there is nothing wrong with the car.
Honda crv 2009 the exhaust pipe is too close to the right rear tire.the heat from the exhaust pipe is damaging the tire and the smell is entering the cabin. There is a smell of burning rubber when parking car after driving.the original equipment tire had premature failure of the belt and had to be replaced.the condition continues on the new tire.suggest wrapping the exhaust pipe with a length of insulating tape to protect the tire from heat damage.

2009 cr-v high beams - little in-close lighting2009 cr-v high beamsoffers very littlein-close/fill lighting.high beams offer "reach" but lighting is weak and diffused. High beam light beam is elevated from the ground giving very little in-close illumination.unlike low beams, low beam filaments turn off when high beams are turned on so very little in-close, near groundlighting is offered. This is a safety problem maneuvering tight turns and poorly lit highway cloverleaf exits since there is very little in-close lighting when the high beams are on.car brought to honda service and reported to honda customer service.they say there is no problem.

In cruise control mode on highway, when set in the range of 50 to 65 miles per hour, the car sometimes suddenly accelerates by itself and keeps accelerating, even on the flat road.the speed change is fast, in a few seconds.for example, on a flat highway, set the cruise control at speed of 60 miles per hour.if that uncontrolled acceleration happens the speed would keep going up to 65, 70, even more miles per hour in a few seconds.cancel cruise control or step on break would stop the problem.it happened about 10 times over the past half a year (i don't use cruise control that often).my best guess is probably 5% ormore ofthe chance.every time it happened i just cancel cruise control and reset.i consider it as a serious safety problem especially when cruising at 65 miles/hour and it goes out of control while the highway make turns.the car is 2009 honda crv.
My car shut down in the road and wouldn't shift or start again. The transmission shot pieces of metal into it messing up the pcm.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while in park, the rear passenger's side door failed to unlock. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the lock housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure recurred affecting the front driver's side of the vehicle as the door failed to unlock intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the lock housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 79,000.
Front passenger door lock is unlocking when all the other doors are locked and locking when the other doors are unlocked, i cannot lock all the doors on the car at the same time leaving the car and passengers vulnerable to theftwhen driving or when the car is parked.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle locking mechanism failed. The locks engaged on their own and trapped the passenger inside the vehicle. The contact depressed the electronic key numerous times, heard the lock click, and managed to quickly remove the passenger from the vehicle; however, the lock system re-engaged and locked all the doors. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for further inspection. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
My 2009 honda crv locks, malfunction, while driving and while it parked and no one is in the vehicle. My vehicle has even locked us in the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the passenger side door would not lock automatically and the rear hatch would not unlock at all. The passenger side door lock would only lock manually. The contact called the dealer regarding the locking system and the dealer stated that the entire electrical component for the locking system needed to be replaced. The contact did not have any repairs performed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 57,356.
The rear passenger door lock stopped working, then within days, the door locks started cycling constantly while the car was moving.also, the rear hatch would also not unlock. At times the remote would not unlock the doors. The repair was to replace the inner door handle, as the actuator was defective.
Problem with door lock. Making noise while start driving -back door not locking.i did find out that honda have some issue with power doors. Went to dealer to find out if there is the recall.even when so many customers have problems-honda not facing problem.
The contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle when the door was locked. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that an unknown rear door lock actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
The locking system stopped working. When i start the car and engage the gears the car doors are supposed to lock by itself but they do not lock as a result if i do not lock them manually all the four doors remains unlocked. My remote also is unable to lock it opens the door but does not lock and hence i have to do it manually.
The driver door is not latching properly.when driving, the light on the dashboard indicates that the driver's door is open.in addition. When accelerating, the electric door locks will unlock.there is a class action lawsuit regarding this issue, but my car is not included, although i am having the problem with my car.this problem occurs when the car is stationary and moving.
Reported front passenger window malfunctioning to nhtsa early 2019 about this but no response. My research disclosed this problem was recalled but only up to 2006 models of the honda cr-v. My honda cr-v is 2009. Left with no choice but to cover repair costs of $325. Is there anyway nhtsa and your agency may investigate this? said problem exists whether or not said vehicle stationary.
My 2009 honda cr-v experienced a series of sudden accelerations that began when backing out of my driveway.i immediately turned the ignition off, shifted topark, then restarted the engine.once again, the engine rpm spiked to over 4,000 rpm before i got the engine turned off.it did the same thing on the next try, going to full power upon starting before i could get the ignition turned off.onthe third try, it started and idled as normal.
The contact owned a 2009 honda cr-v. While the vehicle was stopped, the shift lever was placed in the park position, with the engine running, but the vehicle began to roll away. The vehicle crashed into a pond. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the shift lever failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 108,000.updated 10/26/16*lj
While being driven at 55-60 mph on a 4 lane highway the driver side rear suspension control arm broke free from the unibody causing the rear tire to twist sideways and lodge in the wheel well. The driver side rear axle pulled free from the rear differential due to detachment. The driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, but used both lanes and the vehicle width shoulder of the road to due so. Had another vehicle been close by an accident would have resulted. The crv had been nys inspected 2 months prior with no signs of an impending problem. Pictures are attached showing the detached driver side and also the intact passenger side. After taking pics showing an intact mount on the passenger side a hammer was used to check the structure and it was possible to open up a hole on that side as well. The vehicle was driven in ny during the winter, thus road salt was encountered. The only part of the crv affected by rust was the mounting location of both rear control arms due toan area where moisture and salt can enter, but not escape. The rest of the undercarriage and exterior body were rust free. Honda was contacted, but unwilling to take any action due to age and miles on vehicle. The case# and last correspondence with honda is included--no response from honda.
I opened the automaticgarage door after starting the vehicleto put the vehiclein the garage. When the door of the garage openedthere was a plastic recycle can in the middle of where the car was to be parked. I got out of the car after placing the transmissionin park to move the recycle can. I had to go around the back of the car to enter the garage as a bush blocked my way into the garage on the driver's side. As i walked around the passenger side of the car i pushed the side view mirror in (the entrance to the garage is tight with the mirrors in the extended position). I went into the garage and was putting the recycle can away when the vehicle came into the garage on its own. I thought i could open the driver side door and put the car in neutral or hit the brake but the vehicle was coming toward me and i could see that the vehicle was going to hit an extension in the garage wallwhere the powder room was inside the house. I backed away from the vehicle's driver side door as i had no room to open the door and the car crashed into the extension of thewalland stopped. I was quite relieved at that point as the vehicle could have continued into the rear of the garage and through the wall into the laundry room. I surveyed the damage to the car at that time and decided that while some damage did happen it was notthat much and the vehicle was still drivable. Some months later we took the car for a repair estimate and to my surprise the estimate was for about $1,900.00. I do not believe that this is my fault as i put the vehicle in park but did not set the parking brake as the whole situation would not take two minutes to put the recycle can away and put the vehicle in the garage. I was quite shaken when i saw that the vehicle was coming into the garage by itself. The driveway slopes down to the street and i had been out of the vehicle for about30 seco.
My car shut down in the road and wouldn't shift or start again. The transmission shot pieces of metal into it messing up the pcm.
My 2009 honda cr-v started rolling when i was out of the car after placing the transmission in park. This is now a continuous problem.i have taken the vehicle to a dealer for the existing transmission recall issued back in 2011.the dealer advised the 'fix' was taken care of previously and my current problem is not related to the existing recall.the problem i have certainly seems to match the recall.i feel honda does not want to honor the recall since there are approximately 150,000 miles on the vehicle and repairs would be very expensive.i am being quoted by the dealer a price of approximately $3,700 to correct the problem.

While installing my child's carseat, the weld broke and the anchor came off of the car.this was a structural failure and should not be considered "wear and tear".
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. While driving 20 mph, the contact t-boned another vehicle that ran a stop sign. The air bags failed to deploy and the driver's seat belt failed to restrain the contact properly. A police report was filed. The contact was transported to the hospital to be checked for chest and back pains; however, the x-rays came back clear. The contact experienced muscle spasms and soreness across the chest and bruising to both feet. The vehicle was towed to the local body shop and the body damage was repaired; however, the seat belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not declared destroyed. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure, however no additional assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The contact owns a 2009 honda crv. The contact was driving approximately 5 mph when the front passenger seat began to squeak. There were failures with the seat and seat back. The vehicle had been repaired on two different occasions for the seat back. The technician stated the failure was contributed to the occupant weight positioned in the seat. The failure mileage was 200. The current mileage was 21,082.
One week ago purchaed a 2009 honda crv with 26k miles. Have had 2 previous crv's (1999 & 2002) we purchased the 2009, after a 15 minute test drive, everything seemd fine. After driving for the past week, noticed horrible lower back pain, legs & feet having "pins & needles" numb feeling& seat uncomfortable regardless of the manual seat adjustment position it is in, lumbar support on lower back of seat puts too much pressure on lower back, no way to adjust it. Never had back problems like this before. Seats are very firm, even adding additional cushion or blanket does not help. Bottom of seat is at an incline, and it puts strain on knees / legs. No adjustment to straighten seat level from incline on the lx. Contacted dealership and honda and they both said nothing can be done. Have seen similar complaints regarding seats for the honda accord & civic & crv at www.carcomplaints.com. Seats are causing back / leg issues and should be recalled/redesigned and replaced by honda. Other crv's we owned never had these problems. Headrest equally uncomfortable, puts your head at a very odd position, causing neck pain. Tires seem to be an issue also, we will be needing to replace them soon with only 26k miles, and 3 years old. Honda should stand by their product, but they are unwilling to do anything. Bad tread on the tires, ours are bridgestone.
My vehicle has less than 36,000 miles on it and i was told that i have approximately 4 mm left on my rear brake pads and that they should be replaced asap.this is ridiculous!my vehicle has low mileage and shouldn't be having this issue.
I applied my brakes approaching a stop sign at low speed.my brake pedal went to the floor and i had almost no brakes.i kept my foot on it and when it got as far as i could push it my engine accelerated at very high rpms.i shifted into neutral and then into park and shut the engine off.i had a tow truck come and pick it up.
Exiting the small to moderate sizedparking lot i was stopped at the red light. This is a t intersection where one must turn right or left. After the light turned green i slowly accelerated to turn left when the car accelerated immediately to about 50 mph while i was entering the intersection, i managed to turn left. Despite vigorously braking, the car continued at what seemed like an incredible speed, it felt like an accelerating race car. I hit a truck and another car sideswiping them as i tried to swerve out of the way of traffic and parked cars. The car travelled approximately 1/5 of a mile before i was able to stop by putting the vehicle in park.the air bags deployed.
This entry has to do with replacement / aftermarket disc brake pads manufactured by raybestos. I searched this site to try and determine if this is the place to report this, but i'm uncertain, and felt it best to just give you this information regardless.i'm an auto mechanic and i've seen this issue quite a few times now over the past 5 years, and i contacted the manufacturer via their web site over 2 weeks ago, and they did not respond.this is a design error in the brake pad shim causing the pad to not make full contact with the outer caliper surface. This causes the pads on both sides to not make full (parallel) contact with the rotor. This reduces the friction aspect, and causes a slightly spongy pedal. It's easily seen in the contact surface of the rotor after an initial drive. I've had customer remarks and complaints, and the only resolve is to dismantle the pads from the caliper, and remove the anti-squeal shim. If driven as-is, the friction material of the brake pad will eventually wear down until full contact does occur, but this may take hundreds of miles. In the meantime, the braking efficiency is somewhat compromised.i have 10 photos i want to send explaining the situation, and they include an oem honda pad with the oem shim to show the difference. I just discovered your system only allows one photo, so it's the best one comparing the oem pad to the replacement. Please request the rest if you feel this is worth pursuing on your part.the raybestos part number is eht1086h, and they apply to these vehicles;buyer's guide : raybestos eht1086h brake pad acura rdx 2010-2018 honda accord crosstour 2010-2011 honda cr-v 2005-2016 honda crosstour 2012-2015 thank you.
To whom it may concern, i am a new honda owner. Last night (5/15/18) i was driving on the highway going 60mph when my rear break just locked up automatic nearly causing a terrible collision. Immediately after, i pulled over at 10:30pm at night on the side of the road. After having a full diagnostic it was a revealed a break malfunction due to failed abs module causing all brakes to immediately lock up without warning or notice. This abs/vsa module assembly safety feature is the brain for the brakes and is vitally important to the over all function of the vehicle braking system. Out of pockets expensive for parts & labor by honda dealership in hawaii is charging me $2,642.63. I need an immediate reply back. Thank you.
My wife's sister is the original owner of the car. She could no longer drive so we purchased the car from her inabout june of 2015. It had 11,000 miles on it at the time. We noticed that the break pedal started going almost all the way to the floor and took it in for repair to frontier honda in colorado where we lived at the time. This was repeated a number of times as the pedal continued to start going near the floor a short time after the repair attempt. They could not determine what was wrong and we ended up paying for the troubleshooting multiple times. We moved to ohio in june of 2018 and in october for 2018 we took it into matt castrucci's auto mall of dayton (honda 937-434-4723) where again we had to pay for troubleshooting. It had 66,278 miles on it at the time. Each time we took it in the troubleshooting included a bleed of and inspection of the break system and each time the pedal would go back to normal range of motion. After a period of time, especially in cold weather, the pedal would go down closer to the floor.the latest time we took it in to matts honda dealership they determined the anomaly is due to a defective part within the abs portion of the break system which would cost over $2000 to repair. Matt called andmentioned that he was informed that some cars got equipped with the defective part. After matt checked with his regional representative he called to inform us that honda will not take care of the problem due to the age of the vehicle. If it had less miles on it they would but at some time the owner needs to take responsibility of the repairs. The pedal would start going near the floor after the car sat un-driven especially when cold out.the car is still not repaired. The break pedal is still going almost to where it istouching the floor, and my wife will be in danger because of the defective part.
I was trying to park my car backwards. My car suddenly accelerated andi couldn't control the speed of my car. I was also unable to stop my car.

Rear brake pads completely worn out at 18,000 miles on 2009 honda crv. Pads were inspected by dealer at 15,000 miles and were fine. Pads failed premature, no warning, all highway miles.
I bought a new 2009 honda cr-v in dec 2008.after around 30k miles or so, i noticed the car pulling to the left at highway speeds.i took the car in to a local mechanic for an alignment and tire rotation but nothing they did fixed the issue.i then brought it to the honda dealership since it was still under warranty and they conducted their own alignment and tire rotation (at my expense since alignments are not covered under warranty).this still did not fix the issue and the dealership told me there was nothing else they could do.my car still pulls to the left at highway speeds.i am concerned that this issue may get worse and cause an accident.
Took car into dealer for an oil changeand was told steering rack is leaking and needs to be replaced at a cost of $1500.00.totally ridiculous because the vehicle only has 34,000 miles on it and it is garage kept.honda would not do a thing.buyers of cr-v beware.
I took my car in to check my ac that stopped blowing cold. Thank goodness it was the relay and not the compressor. Then i was told i needed a new power steering rack because both of my boots are leaking. I was quoted $1450. After reading all the complaints on here, it seems like a big problem, there should be a recall. I am only at 79,000 miles.
My 2009 crv had approx 38,000 miles and the power steering pump went out,my husbands 2011 civic has approx 30,000 miles and his power steering pump just went out also.is there some sort of problem with honda's and this part?have others had the same problems?
Steering rack replaced about 3-1/2 years ago probably around 50,000 miles (est) .was told today needs second replacement at around 86,000 miles.this means steering rack will have failed twice.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. While driving various speeds, a whining sound was heard coming from the front driver side of the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent shop for a tire rotation, where it was discovered that fluid was leaking from the front driver's boot over the steering mechanism. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fluid that was leaking off the driver side boot was power steering fluid and the rack and pinon needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost of the repairs. The manufacturer and the dealer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,655.
Rack and pinion steering system replaced, leaking.
I had been driving for about 90 minutes in a snowstorm.the road was snowpacked but it was daytime and visibility was acceptable.the vehicle was handling just fine as one would expect when taking extra care due to inclement conditions.i felt safe and in control at about 45 to 50 mph. When suddenly the car began feeling strange....like everything about the handling had gotten loose.it felt like we were swaying, and like we were slipping into ruts, but there were none.road conditions had not changed.my passenger said that it felt like she was in a boat.i kept fighting the steering so it wouldn't cross into the oncoming traffic lane.i slowed to about 30.i pulled off the road onto the shoulder to examine the wheels, but found nothing out of the ordinary.we pressed on at slow speeds as other vehicles began passing us.i pulled off again and shut off the engine. Thought about calling aaa, but we were in the middle-of-nowhere, about midway between guymon, ok and tucumcari, nm.we were determined to get to tucumcari where we could stop at a dealer for service.the out-of-control, swaying sensation persisted until we drove through a section of highway that must have been salted, because it was slushy.after a few minutes in that slushy condition, the car began stabilizing, and resumed normal handling.even though we encountered more snowpacked stretches, the malady never returned.it had been a terrifying couple hours.we took the car to a dealer in mesa.they could find nothing wrong.recently the dealer here in minnesota from whom i purchased the car examined it and found nothing, although they suspected an alignment problem.they suggested advising you.we have not experienced the problem since that one time. On the other hand, we have not driven through a snowstorm since then....and, frankly, we will be nervous the next time we do encounter similar snow conditions if nothing is resolved about what happened.
2009 honda crv veers to the right. If even for a split second one lets go of the steering wheel, the crv veers immediately into the right lane in a total time of 2-3 seconds. This has been a known defect over the years and honda has refused to recall and nhtsa has failed to follow through. If you just google this issue, you will see a number of similar complaints. I have had to have an independent mechanic skew the alignment to offset this defect as a temporary fix. Calls to honda regional rep says it is up to the dealer to fix it and refuses to acknowledge safety issue or recall. The dealer says "its normal".a report to nhtsa last year has gone ignored.
Vehicle always pulls to the right.had a alignment done and still pulls.suspected defective tire andchanged it and still pulls to the right.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. While driving at 15 mph and making sharp turns, the vehicle was leaking power steering fluid. In addition, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the powering steering rack needed to replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 61,000. The vin was not provided.
Power steering rack leak. This is my 2nd crv that has been diagnosed with a rack and pinion leak. Upon researching it is apparent that this is a common issue and a very expensive repair. Honda should issue a recall due to safety issues involving the steering.
Unibody mount area for trailing arm is rusted out, both driver and passenger side rear. Nobody around will touch this problem, so car is basically totaled. Car is in terrific shape outside of this. Canada has done a recall for this exact problem on these cars and i am reading a forum currently where several people in the us are experiencing the same thing.
Paint is starting to crack and peel
The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2009 honda cr-v. While the driver was driving and making a turn, the frame fractured and the rear passenger wheel disconnected. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the frame was rotted out. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
I was getting the back tires put on and they noticed when the back unibody is rotted out.
Failed september 2020 inspection due to corrosion holes in unibody near three of the trailing arms.failure mode is a safety item, as body can fall down while driving.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. The contact stated that mice were able to gain entry into the interior of the vehicle through the heating system and began nesting within the heating system and the glove box. The mice were chewing on different components of the vehicle which is a potential safety hazard. He called the dealer who advised him to put moth balls in the vehicle. He called the manufacturer and was instructed to take the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle had not been inspected to-date. The current mileage was approximately 9,000. The failure mileage was approximately 7,500.
Rear passenger door behind driver's side, door lock cannot be unlocked or opened from inside. Tried all options. Same result. I must open door from outside only. Vehicle is obviously parked on street and on driveway.
Paint on roof of car peeling rapidly..needs sanding and repainting
Reported front passenger window malfunctioning to nhtsa early 2019 about this but no response. My research disclosed this problem was recalled but only up to 2006 models of the honda cr-v. My honda cr-v is 2009. Left with no choice but to cover repair costs of $325. Is there anyway nhtsa and your agency may investigate this? said problem exists whether or not said vehicle stationary.
I purchased a 2009 honda crv in feb. I was concerned about the rear/side visibility due to the design of the vehicle and voiced my concern to the saleswoman. She assured me that i "would get used to it." well, i haven't! i have serious visibility problems when backing up and changing lanes in heavy traffic. (i am a very safe driver and have never been responsible for any traffic violation other than 1 speeding ticket over 30 years ago and 1 parking ticket that could not be avoided.) i backed into a sign pole in a parking lot in mid april, damaging the rear right corner of the vehicle-in the blind spot. Two days ago, while i was very slowly and carefully backing out of a parking space, i came very close to a woman pushing a baby in a cart. I was horrified and immediately attempted to contact the dealer who sold me the car and american honda-both unsuccessfully. I spent hours e-mailing and talking on the phone, asking for a solution for this serious problem from both the dealer and american honda. A manthat i spoke with at american honda told me that the design of the '09 crv is the same as the '07 crv which he owns. He stated that he had partially corrected the problem by adding small round concave mirrors like those used for trailers/rv's, but did not document that he had said this. The bottom line is that i own a new, but damaged, vehicle that has a serious design flaw which causes major blind zones. I fear that if something is not done to correct this problem on all of these crv's driving around, more people will be injured or killed. I feel that american honda needs to be held responsible for the design flaw.finally, today the assist. Manager at the dealership suggested that i have sensors put on the vehicle at my own expense and remarked: "they're not cheap." unacceptable.
Front passenger power window malfunctions; difficult to raise if lowered. Same result in motion or stationary.
I recently brought my 10 year old car in for its yearly state safety inspection and i was informed that corrosion on the left rear underside of the car was irreparable.this included corrosion between the uni body and undercarriage, compromising the integrity of the control arms.after doing research online, i noted that honda has an active recall in canada for a similar defect, but not in the us.i contacted honda of north america and asked if they could provide any assistance or compensation for this issue, which essentially renders the car unusable, and they told me they could not.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while entering the residential garage, the bumper separated from the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed that the rack and front had been impacted underneath causing it to become loose and out of alignment. The dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle a body shop for repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 36,590.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the rear driver's side door failed to unlock with the remote as well as manually. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the classic honda dealer located at 900 classic dr, streetsboro, oh 44241; phone number: (330) 422-7000 where it was diagnosed that the latch assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that the rear passenger's side door failed to lock with the remote as well as manually. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer where it was diagnosed that the latch assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-999-1009 and was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer stated that the parts were out of warranty and a case number 06250936 was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 104,607.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while loading groceries into the rear, the rear lift gate slammed down onto her head. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop and the components which held the lift gate up were replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 42,000. Updated 04/20/12
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact heard a loud banging noise under the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the bolts securing the catalytic converter rusted and failed. Also, the shield holding the converter and bolts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
The driver's side rear frame stiffener is extremely corroded and looks to becoming loose!in canada, there is a recall for my year cr-v for this very defect!!! why doesn't nhtsa do the same thing?i live less than 2 hours from canada, yet my car there would have been recalled!this could potentially be devastating if the assembly becomes loose from the vehicle.please address this problem!thank you.

This involves my tires on my 09 honda crv.i am the original and only owner - two years ago, july 9,2011 i brought my car in for routine servicing and tire rotation and was advised my tires (original yokohama) were choppy and needed replacement.the dealer at the time only recommended replacementwith the same tires which i refused as i felt they wore prematurely and replaced them at a tire dealer with coopers.now, two years almost to the day, i brought my car in for tire rotation and balancing and was told the tires are choppy and need replacement again, this time 92,000. Is this a defect? i always service my car and need to determine the cause of this - this is too much of a coincidence.thank you-
On my last 2 visits to the honda dealership, i have been talked with about replacing my tires.the tires are original to the car and are the continental 4x4 contact m&s 225165r 17 102t.i have 18,00 miles on the car and it is kept in a garage when not driving.i was told that the tires were "soft" and needed to be replaced at a cost of $633.60 plus.i was surprised because i thought tires lasted a lot longer than 18,000.i thought tires lasted 50,000 to 65,00 milesis there something wrong with the tires that are on my car.i have not replaced the tires.do these original tires have premature or uneven wear, in which case they should be replaced free.
The tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) light illuminates when i have my cell phone plugged into the car charger.it stays on until i unplug the phone from the charger.this is ongoing and not just a one time incident.the car has been checked by a mechanic and the tpms system is operational with no problem.
Bought a brand new 2009 cr-v ex and had issues with tpms light coming on randomly while driving.brought the car back to the dealer a couple of times and had tpms sensors replaced and tpms box.still the problem persists and been using my car for almost 3 years now waiting for honda to fix the car.there were no tsbs for it and no fix for it.i was told by a representative in a dealer not to worry as i am not alone having this issue.
I need honda's service bulletin "12-072" regardind the warranty extension of the ac compressor to make sure my repairs are covered.
I parked at open parking lot in gated comm unity on 01/24/18 at approximately 7:00pm .the weather was clear and approximately 30 to 40 degrees. I left in m y vehicle at approximately 9:00 am on 01/25/18. I did not notice anything wrong with my sunroof.when i started accelerating at 30 to 40 miles per hour, i heard some crackling noise that was coming from and flying off. I then noticed glass in the sun roof cover that is pulled over the glass inside the vehicle. When i got towork (3 miles on beltway), i observed that the glass of the sun roof was shattered and had a large hole in the glass. I returned to condo and surveilled parking lot and other parked vehicles and did not see anything that may have fallen onto the sunroof.i did not see any glass at the condo where i first got into vehicle.there does not appear to be any object inside the sunroof under theshattered glass. The vehicle is presently in my work garage, and expected dateof replacement per m y consultation with the insurance company will be onmonday, january 29, 2018.i am unaware of any damage to the sunroof prior to the shattering.
My complaints are with the ac compressor honda knows that it is faulty and it's not being recalled. To many people are having this issue. I've already complained about this and my complaint fell in death ears. I want something done about this please.
The lock actuator went.honda would not cover even though this is a known problem on crv's.
Pulled my car into my garage. Trapped in my car. Unable to unlock the doors.unrolled windows, unable to open doors by reaching outside handles. Remote on key didn't help.had to get assist to use the key in the outside key hole.fortunately, the windows worked, and i had my phone to call for help. Tried many times to unlock doors over the next hours.only worked with key in lock. Took to dealer. Again needed assist to exit car.personnel really questioned my sanity saying, ' no way' when i explained problem. They approached the car, and using the remote unlocked the doors!with that, they sent me on my way. No explanation for what had happened, or assurance it wouldn't happen again.fortunately i had my phone and the garage door was still open, so i was able to get help. As an 83 year old widow, it was an uncomfortable situation.glad i didn't have to resort to climbing out a window.
The sunroof (or moonroof as they call it) spontaneously shattered while driving on the highway. Thankfully the glass didn't go inside the vehicle, but it was a tremendous shock to us. We were very lucky that the glass didn't fall onto our heads as we were driving.initially we thought this was due to an external event such as a rock being thrown to our car, although we were not under a bridge when this happened. When we stopped, we realized that the problem wasn't external. The glass shattered in an even mesh, without any evidence of an impact. The mesh was pointing outwards in the center, rather than inwards as expected if it had been an external cause.i've attached some photos. I also have video of the shattered sunroof if needed.
I no longer own this 2009 honda cr-v.i traded it in for my 2015 honda odyssey
Faulty door locks-doors lock and unlock over and over.at times, it is impossible to unlock the doors.
All of the window and door seals are melting. It started last summer. Whenever i roll my side windows down and up the black rubber has melted and it leaves black streaks on my windows. The rubber started to flap in the wind from under the metal seals on all four doors over a year ago.my rubber seal around my windshield is also melting. I wash my car and cannot dry the top any longer due to the rubber melting onto the paint. The sunroof and back have not started yet.i have purchased several new cars prior to purchasing the honda -new. I've also purchased 3 used cars before, i've kept cars over 15 year ; none ever have had the rubber seal melt. My husband was told by a mechanic "that has been a problem".
Air conditioner does not work.blows hot air.dealer has fixed on two separate occasions.recurring issue.last incident was 6/15/2015, due to be "fixed" again.
Ac compressor, this is the 2nd car i have owed same year. Because i obviously love these cars that the ac compressor has needed fixed. So it's obviously bad.
Takata recall" the air compressor in the car just stop working my vents just started to throw out smoke almost causing me into a accident on the highway on my way to work. Now my car ac is not throwing out cold air its blowing warm air instead of cold. I don't here the compresser going on any more.
Lock actuator for passenger side rear door lock is making loud noise when locking door. This noise is identical to noise made by passenger front lock actuator before failure. Replacement of previous actuator cost about $400.00. There is no way to lock doors to secure vehicle without energizing this actuator.
Ac compressor has failed...seems to be covered under technical alert, but honda usa did not want to fix the faulty compressor, since i was 1 month out of extended warranty.
The back hatch door does not open even if the open button on the keychain remote is pressed the required number of times.even the button on the inside of the driver's side will not open the hatch door. The only way to manually open the door is to pry off a small panel on the inside of the hatch door and press a lever.there is no external way of opening the back hatch door.this could be a major hazard especially in an accident in which the hatch door is the only way out. It is unlikely that anyone inside the vehicle will have a tool or maybe time to pry off the inside panel to access the lever to open the hatch door in an emergency/accident. Anyone outside the vehicle would not be able to open the hatch door manually.of course, no attempt was made to see if the hatch door would open while the vehicle was in motion.
Door aculator is not working on front driver's door properly. The door will not lock with or without a key. The lock jumps on and off while parked and trying to lock the doors. While driving and the brakes are applied, the locks make a noise and jump on and off.
Ac compressor clutch broke. It is hugely expensive. In texas not having ac is life threatening. Literally over 70% of crv owner have this problem and have to pay out of pocket. I'm a student so i can't spend over $1500 on something that should have been built right (over 160 degrees in a car in texas). This item should have been recalled because it would be fixed in 24 hrs in a apt by law.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 45 mph an unexpected acceleration caused the vehicle to lose control. The gear was shifted into neutral and the vehicle was driven to the side of the road with caution. The rpms continued to increase. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer. The technician test drove the vehicle and was unable to locate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000. The current mileage was 5,335.

I was trying to park my car backwards. My car suddenly accelerated andi couldn't control the speed of my car. I was also unable to stop my car.
The contact owns a2009 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph in a parking lot, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration causing the driver to lose control of the steering and crashed into two vehicles and a building wall. During the incident, the driver sustained a head injury that required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 210,000.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. While pulling into a parking spot with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The vehicle went over a curb and crashed into a wall. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. There were injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v061000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,950. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Unexpected acceleration - driver experiences sudden acceleration from the engine without moving the gas pedal causing an impact. The air conditioner stopped working just a few days before the incident. Some online reports have suggested that a failing or failed a/c compressor may restrict movement from the drive belt slowing down the engine and reducing power. The engine accelerates when the compressor clutch releases.other complaints about this issue are documented and available online. Follow the link below.https://www.carproblemzoo.com/honda/cr-v/2009/vehicle-speed-control-problems.php
I was driving 45 mph on the freeway, when my gas pedal went down on its own as if i wanted to speed up.a few minutes later it did the same thing, but this time the gas pedal stuck.i put my 4-way flashers on, tried braking and put my right foot under the pedal to try an "loosen it".it finally "unlocked" and i was able to drive normally.it was not my floor mats in the way either, because i checked that.after researching over the weekend it looks like there have been 295 honda complaints for the same problem.when are you going to investigate this and correct the problem, before someone gets severely injured or killed? a few years ago the toyota prius had an issue with this.maybe you should talk with them.
The contact owns a 2009 honda c-rv. While attempting to parkat speeds of 2 mph, the vehicle had abnormally accelerated without warrant. The contact was unable to stop the acceleration by depressing the brake and instead, shut the engine off. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were 1,000.
My mother was driving on the interstate when the vsa light (triangle with exclamation point in the middle) came on.she then started to hear a grinding noise from the tires.the light and the noise caused her to reduce her speed to about 55.she drove about 5 miles to the nearest pull-off ramp.she was able to slow down, but as she pulled into a parking spot, she depressed the brake pedal further to stop the car and the brake pedal would not go down and the vehicle would not stop.subsequently, she rolled up on the sidewalk in front of the parking space and hit a light pole, which stopped the vehicle.she does not necessarily recall the engine revving or accelerating as other complainants have reported, but the brakes clearly did not work and there may have been some undetected acceleration as the car clearly needed enough speed to go over the curb.no airbags were deployed.the vehicle has less than 3500 miles.she has had no previous issues with braking.the vehicle requires body work due to the collision.honda service department detected no mechanical problems.clearly, there is an issue as a cursory search of complaints on the cr-v show at least 2-3 complaints per year about the same issue.may be an issue with other honda vehicles as well.
Brand new two-week old 2009 honda crv.defect in window washer nozzles.freeze up when temps drop well below freezing which in ne pennsylvania happens often.driving on turnpike in snow squalls--washers froze up and we could not see the road.contacted honda dealer and they told us honda does not consider this recurring problem to be a safety factor.it is a definite safety factor when you cannot see the road.problem must be rectified.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. When the air conditioner was activated, it blew out extremely hot air. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Ice build up on the windshield of the passenger side occurs whenever there is snow or freezing rain.this has been a constant problem since the car was new.even with the defroster on the highest setting this occurs.i bought an awd vehicle as i live in vermont so expected a defroster that would perform under freezing conditions.while driving on snow or ice, the ice build up on the windshield affects visibility so greatly that i have to stop driving and try to break up ice on the windshield and wipers.this is not safe to do during bad weather.
Drove about 30 miles in rainy weather with the wipers working perfectly fine at a steady speed, when suddenly i noticed that the wipers were sluggish. Then the wipers stopped working completely while it was raining and i was on the highway. I tried to get them to work but they wouldn't budge. The rear wiper was still working. I panicked as i thought i may have engine problems. I headed for the nearest exit. When i took it to the dealer for service check, they said that the wiper motor needed to be replaced. Defective wipers are a safety hazard as my visibility was impaired without the use of functioning wipers. Honda should pay for this repair as it is very costly over $500.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 55 to 60 mph, the sun roof exploded without warning. There was no injury. The vehicle was taken toto have the sun roof replaced. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was repaired. The cause of the failure was not disclosed. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
While driving in the rain the wipers were on delay and turned on completely by themselves.i tried to turn them off and they would not turn off.i turned them back to delay and eventually, they started to operate correctly.the incident re-occurs from time to time.
Windshield washer fluid to front windshield froze, outside temp in teens to twenties. Able to defrost by pouring hot water on nozzles but refreezes within minutes at highway speed. Washer fluid rated to -20 being used. Occurs even with alcohol added to fluid.dangerous problem in wintry areas!!
Ac compressor, this is the 2nd car i have owed same year. Because i obviously love these cars that the ac compressor has needed fixed. So it's obviously bad.

The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. While traveling approximately 65 mph, there was an abnormal noise and the sun roof exploded without warning. The failure caused the glass to fracture. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was able to order the parts to replace the glass and the seals for the sun roof. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
The contact owns a 2009 honda cr-v. While driving 75 mph, the sun roof shattered without warning. There were no injuries. The dealer (smart honda, 11206 hickman rd, des moines, ia 50325, (515)-253-3040) was contacted to schedule a diagnostic appointment. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 118,371.
At 17000 miles the tires are deemed unsafe to drive due to excessive treadware.at this mileage there should be no problems, however, new tires are needed and the dealer says i have to buy new tires.also other shops have said the tires are unsafe at this low mileage.this seems very dangerous and am concerned as have found this as a common complaint for a crv.the dealer says they are not responsible for the tires or a bad alignment.
Bought crv-ex new from dealer, at around 18,000 miles, all four tires had to be replaced. A friend told me the same thing happened with her crv. All the car tires i have owned in the past have lasted until at least 60,000 miles. This is a cheap tire honda appearently puts on all their crv's. Even the tech at belle tire told me this.
I was told by the honda dealership that i should replace the tires because they were soft and uneven wear.i only had 16,000 miles on the car and did not replace the tires.the tires are continental 4x4 contact.
The tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) light illuminates when i have my cell phone plugged into the car charger.it stays on until i unplug the phone from the charger.this is ongoing and not just a one time incident.the car has been checked by a mechanic and the tpms system is operational with no problem.
The letter below was sent to mr. Masaaki tsuya, ceo of bridgestoneon 5/23/16.bridgestone chose to ignore it most likely because it knew of the problem.i urge nhtsa to launch a formal investigation into bridgestone tires.i am writing to you to express my extreme disappointment with the quality of your product ' bridgestone dueler h/t tire.i have always regarded japanese products to be of the highest quality in the world.that is why i was shocked when my mechanic advised me that all 4 tires of my honda cr-v 2009 are worn out and need to be replaced (see attachment 1).and my car has less than 24,000 miles on it!i stopped at the firestone location nearby and they confirmed that all 4 tires are fully worn out and need a replacement.i do realize that car manufacturers typically do not install the best tires on their new cars.however, i do not think that any tires sold in the united states are designed to last less than 35,000 miles.i also have to point out that my vehicle is equipped with tire pressure sensors and therefore tire pressure for all of the 23,966 miles driven was the one set by honda for these tires and for cr-v.i hope that bridgestone will stand behind the quality of their products and this unpleasant issue will be quickly resolved avoiding any further action on my part. You understand, of course, that i do not want to risk my and my wife's health and/or life because worn out tires can cause a tragic accident.
