The srs (safety restraint system) warning light came on in my 2005 honda crv with less than 18,000 miles on it.the light will not go out.the car has never been in an accident.the honda dealer has performed diagnostic tests that indicate that nothing is wrong and the air bags should deploy and seat belts should work in an accident.who do i believe -- the warning light or the diagnostic tests.i don't like driving a car that has a warning light indicating something is wrong with a safety system.

"takata recall" - on nov 19, 2016, i had an accident.i was going down a sandy dirt road and heard a loud pop or bang (ended up being the stabilizer bar broke) and suddenly the steering wheel was jerked to the left, slamming the car into a ditch where there was a full embankment. I was slung to the left, hitting my head on the drivers side window, while at the same time the side curtain airbags and the side seat airbag deployed, bouncing me back to center. To my shock and wonder the drivers side, steering wheel air bag never deployed, which has concerned me every since the accident.

Takata recall, i brought my car in and had the drivers air bag replaced but i am now very concerned regarding the passenger air bag which i know is also defective and presents a grave danger to myself and my family. There should be no delay in having this replaced immediately. I do not want to wait till its "my turn". If i go ahead and pay for it myself will i be reimbursed by honda?
Takata recall: i took my car in to get the airbag replaced per the recall notice. My airbag malfunction light came on just after the replacement. I took the car back and they wanted $125 just to diagnose the problem. A garage said it was the seat belt buckle causing the problem. In the manual it clearly states that "honda will repair or replace, at its option, any honda seat belt component that fails to function properly during its normal use. This includes all parts and labor charges." my greenwich, ct honda said they had never heard of this warranty and they would not honor it. I called honda america, 2 people said it was covered, the final person said no. I have read forums and talked to many others, as you can see that have this problem. It is a safety issue and my airbags will not deploy in an accident. If it is the sensor, that is a component of the seat belt. It is clearly faulty on these cars. On forums many people have had this problem and some hondas have fixed it free of charge, and others will not. My garage gave me a quote of $282 for part and $95 labor.

Air bag sensor under right front seat not working properly. This was found when the dealership insisted i call in my insurance company to look at dampness in the car.i haven't had any resolution to the dampness/mold/mildew issue and no one has addressed the air bag sensor, other than a verbal notification from my insurance company.i've followed what the dealership has suggested in regards to the dampness/mold/mildew - removed the mats (right front was wet underneath with mold), keep the a/c on exterior circulation when the car is closed up & had the car detailed...none of which has solved the problem.they want me to guarantee payment of over $4000 to have the carpet removed, car 'dried' out & carpet replaced.

It was reported last summer (2014) that many honda vehicles were being recalled due to faulty air bags.i called my honda dealership at the time of the news report and i was told that my 2005 honda cr-v was not under the recall.however, earlier this year i entered my car's vin in an online search and was shocked to learn that it was under recall due to faulty airbags.honda never to this date sent me a letter to inform me.i contacted honda corporate offices and they confirmed that my vehicle is under the recall.they did not sent me a letter because they are being sent in phases.i was told that an airbag for my car would be sent to my local honda dealership by early april.unfortunately, my dealership never received it and told me that the airbag is on order.honda corporate offered me a free loaner car so that i would not have to drive my current car.i do not want to drive a loaner car for months.i was told that honda would get to the people driving loaner cars before other drivers.they do not expect to service my car before the summer.i am extremely dissatisfied with this process: never receiving a recall letter & the time it is taking to get my vehicle fixed.

2005 honda cr-v.consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair airbag recall notice.
Takata recallthis car is under recall according to nhtsa's december 2016 third amended coordinated remedy order.the problem is that the recall is not showing up under a vin search for the car.honda has confirmed that this vin is affected by the takata recall, but it cannot send out a recall notice until nhtsa acknowledges the batch of affected vins that honda confirms it sent it to nhtsa on or around january 10, 2017 (however pursuant to the above referenced coordinated remedy order, this vehicle should have been under recall no later than june, 2016). I cannot get a dealership to perform the required repair until honda sends out the recall notice.that won't happen until nhtsa acknowledges that the vin, per honda, is affected by the recall.honda forwarded all the necessary information to nhtsa weeks ago.please provide explanations for these delays (specifically as to why this vehicle was not included in the recall under the timeline mandated by nhtsa, and why nhtsa has not yet acknowledged the vins from honda even since january 10, 2017).more pressing, however, is the need to get this vehicle repaired as soon as possible.it is in the highest priority group according to nhtsa's coordinated remedy order.please provide assistance in getting the necessary airbag replacement performed on this vehicle right away.thank you.please note that i am filing this complaint pursuant to jennifer timian's instructions in response to my email to her of 2/6/17.thank you.
We have waited over 60 days for the passenger air bag part to arrive at the dealer.the recall notice says we may file a complaint after 60 days.the recall notice says we should not occupy the front seat.seems like a long time to be waiting with this restriction on driving.thank you foryour help.

The contact owns a 2005 honda crv. The contact was traveling 65 mph, heard a noise coming from the transmission and the vehicle started to rapidly slow down.when the failure occurred the vehicle started to veer drastically to the left causing the contact crash into the median wall and the vehicle to spin around three times. The passenger side air bag deployed, but not the drivers side. The vehicle was towed to the insurance companies inspection station where it was ruled destroyed and they were unable to determine the cause of failure. The failure and current mileage was 115,000.
Informed honda several times that vehicle was taken out of service as salvage in 2014. With last conversation, honda representative advised that the database that honda utilizes for tracking takata airbags is out of date... And that it would take some time for honda to cease sending recall notices.this failure to maintain up to date records is counter-productive.
Swerved to avoid hitting a deer and had a front end collision into a tree. The drivers side air bag deployed causing sever damage to the face. Had to have reconstruction surgery on the right eye socket. Was wearing a seat belt.

Takata airbag inflator.received notice of recall in july.we called the dealer, honda of annapolis, to scheduleit but were told the part was not in and we should call back in 2 weeks.called 5 more times over the next 2 months and were put off every time.finally today they have the part but can't install it for over a week and the repair will take 3 to 4 hours.we contacted american honda for a loaner as advertised but were told by rosa that because we have a back seat, she could not authorize it.this seems to be in direct conflict with the terms of the recall posted at hondaairbaginfo.com where notice is given that loaner vehicles are available in cases of delays.

My low beam headlight bulbs need replacement at least 3 times per year, sometimes more.even when replaced with new bulbs, sometimes the brightness of the light varies randomly.the last time i had the bulb replaced the technician said that the new bulb wouldn't even stay lit when he replaced it.there are other model years for this car which have been recalled for this low beam bulb issue.it is time for honda to recall this model year and fix this problem. I don't feel safe driving my car at night anymore.this is a safety issue!!also, just within the past couple of years, my srs light is randomly staying lit for no apparent reason.i am the original owner of this car and know that there have been no accidents that would have created these issues.
On jan 8th 2011 i was involved in a wreck involving my 2005 honda crv lx model equipped with driver and passenger side air bags.it was a frontal impact at 35 to40 mph causing major damage to the front of the car which was totaled.the seat belts did their expected job but caused bruising to my wife's chest, stomach area and sternum (possible fracture).my complaint was the air bags did not deploy on either the drivers side nor the passengers side.i believe if this would have deployed my wife would not have suffered these type of injuries or would have lessened them. I called the local honda dealer to discuss this and he gave me some off the wall reason why they did not deploy even at a 35 to 40 mph front collision! the sensors on the front bumper area , radiator , engine and frame were damaged to the point they seemed to be moved back towards the passenger cab. These air bags should have deployed on impact but did not. I cannot find any customer help line for honda to report this.i feel that this should be investigated to see if this is a problem for this type of vehicle.
Takata recall. Front passenger airbag not fixed due to unavailability of product from honda per dealership.
My complaint is against honda re their recall practices/dealer knowledge:according to the honda website, my vehicle airbag is to be inspected and replaced.i attempted to schedule this service at two dealers in albuquerque, nm (perfection honda and garcia honda.i was told it would take 2 visits - one to inspect and one to replace part if needed.yesterday i took my vehicle to garcia honda - their 'mechanic/oil changer' broke the head off the 'breakaway screw' while undoing it.after 3 hours in which they supposedly 'tapped' the screw, they told me to bring the vehicle back in a week and there was a 50/50 chance they would need to replace the airbag - but they didn't know.now, i am unsure to even drive the vehicle - suffice to say, if there is any damage to myself or passenger, there will be a major lawsuit against honda and particularly garcia honda!
On may 7, 2015 my honda dealer ordered a replacement airbag inflator for my crv as part of a recall for faulty and potentially lethal airbag inflators in honda crv's. By july 27 the part was still on backorder and they could not tell me when it might arrive. A recall letter arrived on july 27 so i called honda automobile customer service on july 27 and michael said someone would get back to me by july 28. No surprise, no phone call was received. This has gone on far too long for a potentially fatal issue.

On a 2013 car accident. I along with 2 other passengers experienced a frontal collision ,with an oncomingvehicle ,who ran a red light. Upon impact ,the airbag deployed.the force from the airbag was so severe,it forced my head back ,hitting(bruising) the passenger seated behind me. I momentarily blacked out,to be awoken by the burning sensation of my arm.some kind of solvent or kind of fuel cell to deploy the bag, caughtfire and was burning my right arm.though the fire was only contained on my arm,and thankful it had not spreadwe were treated fortrauma, myself for trauma and 2nd degree burns at the er.we also show reports from the attending physician and police reports, decribing the accident.we had tried to contact honda at the time, and checked if there was a recall was issued. Though honda said that no recalls for that model at the time.....you can only guess my surprise, when i got a recallfor the airbag.today....updated 10/07/14updated 5/13/2015

Regarding the honda airbag recall:#1. I never received a recall notice from honda, although when i entered my vin number on their recall website, it said there was an open recall.#2. I have spent hours on hold when i call the listed honda number (888-234-2138). I have never received a call back from my case manager, whose name apparently is "onye." when i ask to speak to a supervisor, i am placed on hold indefinitely, or they take a message but never return my call. My case number is n032015-04-1601-1863. If you could assist me in this matter, i would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you. I would just like a call back from a case manager from honda who can help get my airbags replaced.
Takata recall - we received written notice of the airbag recall in june 2016 for our 2005 honda crv, and called our local honda dealership, autonation honda at2999 w 104th ave, westminster, co 80234 to schedule an appointment for the repair on july 7, 2016. We were told by their service department that they would order the part, which should arrive within a week. They did not call back by the end of july, so we called back to ask about the part. We were told that they had no record of ever ordering the part, but said that they would do so immediately and expected the part to arrive in the next 4 weeks. We again waited for notification that the part arrived, but received no call. We contacted them to schedule an appointment for the repair in august and september, but were told the same thing: that they had not ordered the part and could not complete the repair, but that they would be sure to contact us as soon as the part came in, as they would order one immediately. In the end of september, while shopping for another vehicle at autonation honda, the salesperson told us that the service department could perform the recall work while we test-drove and considered other vehicles. However, the service department did not complete the recall work, and this was merely a ruse to allow autonation to hold our vehicle hostage while the sales staff gave us the run around on haggling over another car. We left that day without buying a car and without getting our crv repaired. On december 24, 2016, we made an appointment to have the recall work done on the morning of december 30, and the service department confirmed that the parts were available and that they could complete the repair. Within minutes of dropping the car off on the 30th, i received a call that they did not have the part and again had not ordered it. They said they would work on ordering it in the coming week.

Takata recall car was started in parking lot at mechanic for a misfiring spark plugs.mechanic placed new spark plugs and a missing coil and car started right up.car was stationary in lie to be pulled into the bay by mechanic went into his office which was about 75 feet away then heard an explosion.upon going out to my vechile he noticed the airbags deployed and had exploded for no reason.the side curtain and seat airbags deployed on the drivers side.car still running was not overheated nor did anyone wasvin the car.incident occurred on 11/05/2918 was reported to owner auto insurance as an unexplained loss and reported to the honda manufacture as on issue and a claim number was assigned from both insurance company and honda manufacturer a claim examiner audited the vechile for loss and honda manufacturer said they would pay for a diagnosis if it would be brought to a honda dealer.car was driven to a local honda dealer and a specialized no reading could be concluded as the srs was fried honda the estimate includes srs unit, seat sensors, curtain airbag, drivers side seat back assembly, labor is $1,082.00 and parts are $3,172.87 total $4,254.87 for total repairs.i am waiting on my honda dpsm rep to give me feedback.insurance company asked for a forensic mechanic to evaluated or get to root cause of airbags spontaneously exploding through black box as honda did not include black box till the 2012 models this vechile is a 2005 model hence did not have a black box and no determination was determined for root cause.the vechile being a 2005 13 years old and only had a total of 143,850 miles, body and interior learher sears were in ideal condition.car should have lasted at least another 100,000 miles car was deemed a total loss and car was scraped. Year: 2005 make: honda model: cr-v nhtsa recall number: 14v-351 recall date: june 19, 2014manufacturer recall number: jg8received a letter from honda dated september 2014 regarding the airbags safety recall. Asked me to call my local dealer to set up an appointment. Called the dealer to set up an appointment in october 2014 and was told that the dealer is booked till january. So they gave me the available earliest date of january 27th 2015. I received a call day before the appointment stating that the parts for crv and pilot are in short supply, so we will have to cancel your appointment and will call you once they are available. Not sure if that was true about the short supply of parts. I asked them if that is coming from honda or from the dealer. The lady stated that she is just a worker and she had been told to inform me by her manager at the dealership. I asked her if i could talk to the manager and she said that he is busy and unavailable. I asked her when can i expect a call or does she know when the parts will come in. She had no clue and said that they don't know and once the parts are here she will call us to schedule an appointment and that could again be couple of months before they can get me in as they are very busy with the recall. I asked her if she could send me an email to confirm the cancellation and stating that the parts are in short supply, but she replied in negative and said that they don't do that and will call me when the parts are in. That was the end of the conversation and she apologized for the delay and said they will inform me whenever there are any updates. So today in feb 2nd , 2015 and no call and no email. Just filing a report to see if there is any action being taken in this regards either from honda or from the nhtsa.

Takata recall. I took my honda crv to the dealership last week to have the airbags replaced due to the recall.now my air conditioning went out. I took it back to the dealership to have them fix the issue, but they told me the problem was unrelated. They said the compressor locked up. I have never had any issues with the air conditioning until after i took it in. Too coincidental. After doing some online research it apears many other people have had the same problem in which honda does not cover the cost. People are paying roughly $1000 to replace their compressors.i am submitting a complaint because this is not right. I hope i am not dealing with a corrupt organization.

I was driving down the road at 45 mph when all of a sudden both myside air bags deployed. There was no collision or impact to the car. I almost drove off the road because i was so startled by this occurring. I contacted the honda dealership and they refused to do anything. I then contacted american honda and they refuse to do anything but give me an inspection of the vehicle. They want me to drive the car to the dealership. I contacted my insurance company and they came to look at the car. They found no reason why the airbags deployed and told me it was a manufacturers defect. I contacted american honda with this finding and they still refused to provide me with a tow to the dealership claiming they weren't liable for the defect.the insurance adjuster advised me not to drive the car because there may be problems with the front airbags, i am six months pregnant and am not going to risk my life or my child's life because of hondas inability to fix a problem with an airbag. I could have been seriously injured or killed because these airbags are defective. This is a very dangerous situation. How can airbags deploy with no warning or reason.
I took my car to get serviced and to have the airbags replaced following the recall. I was told that the airbags were replaced, but they were never in fact replaced. The airbag light continues to come on and i am continuing to receive notices from honda that my airbags have not been replaced. I would appreciate to have a truthful answer and to have this situation fixed!

The vehicle was taken to coggins honda (located at 11051 s orange blossom trail, orlando, fl 32837) where it was diagnosed that the front passenger side air bag inflator needed to be replaced. After making an appointment with voyles honda in marietta, ga for dec. 13, 2014 to have the recalled airbags changed, the dealership then informed me after service began that the front passenger-side airbag was not in stock. Since then, i have not been able to get the passenger-side airbag changed. The dealership would not provide any information as to when it will be in stock. It's been 2 1/2 months, and i cannot have any passengers in the front, which is a hardship.
On january 24, 2011, i was in an accident involving 3 cars. I rear ended a cavalier, which in turn rear ended the vehicle in front of it. I hit the car at approximately 40 mph. With no brake applied upon impact. No air bags deployed upon impact. The seat belt restraint retrained me from hitting the windshield but significant bruising and strain occurred from hitting the steering wheel. This is the 2nd rear ending that has happened with this vehicle and the air bags did not deploy at either occasion. Currently, the vehicle is in the shop for repair with initial estimate of $6500 in repairs, with supplemental repairs as well. One of the supplemental repair was the driver seat belt restraint that is now overextended, thus causing a icon to display on the dash control panel. The driver seat belt will no longer retract and must be replaced by the auto body shop. Significant front end, head on damage occurred to the vehicle. The front bumper and metal bumper supports were crumpled back towards the engine. The welded metal enclosure around the engine assembly was pushed back significantly, as well as the radiator and cooling condenser. The hood was crumpled back towards the windshield. The front bumper and grille were demolished and came off the vehicle upon impact. The air bag should have deployed and would have saved me from significant bruising and strain from the impact of the steering wheel. I am extremely concerned about my safety once the car is returned to me.
Driver air bag failed to deploy after crash.
In early november, 2011 a camaro ran a red light, and our 2005 honda cr-v crashed into the camaro.both of us were going about 30 mph. The front and driver side air bags all successfully deployed, however, the steering wheel airbag burst open and i got secondary burns to both my left and right wrists.the sleeves of my jacket-coat were fried stiff. The primary purpose of the airbag saved my life, but the malfunction of it bursting open, producing secondary burns, can probably be something that they can improve on.
While driving at 40 mphvehicle was involved in a front end collision, by rear ending other motorist.upon impact, none of the air bags deployed. No live threatening injuries were sustained due to the use of seat belt, just minor injuries.
I had just come off the highway and turned onto a state road.i was slowing down for the upcoming intersection, when suddenly the car started speeding out of control and the brakes could not stop my car fromslamming into the car in front of me.after the crash, the woman i hit pulled over to the side of the road.i put the car in drive with my foot on the brake and the car revved wildly.this was later noted by the woman i hit, as well.in desperation i turned the key off and let the car roll to the side of the road.the firemen disconnected the battery for safety.when the tow truck driver came, he reconnected the battery cables and the car started itself up and began to rev.the driver said he had never seen anything like it before.i have his name and number.the airbag never deployed and i was fortunate to only receive whiplash and my dog seems ok.the other driver has back problems but was fortunately driving a nissan xterra that did not get nearly the damage my car received.i am just so thankful that my children were not in the car, and that there were no pedestrians or children in front of me.
The airbag malfunction light came on intermittently. The dealer said they could only diagnose it when it was lit. It came on again near another dealer so we detoured there. They said it just needed to be reset. When i picked up the car i drove about 3 miles and the warning light came back on. I returned to the dealer. They said that there was a short in the controller board and the unit needed to be replaced. They replaced the entire airbag unit ($1300) and sent me on my way. About 2 miles from the dealership, the airbag warning light came back on. I returned to the dealer and the car remains there while they attempt to actually correct whatever is triggering the warning light.
2006 honda crv hit the guardrail on the left side of the car (the fast lane). When it hit the guardrail the side air bags deployed but did not protect the head, instead it squeezed the head into the window (deployed down, but bag went over the head like a tent ).

While i was making a right hand turn into my subdivision, both of my side curtain airbags went off.there was no indication that this was about to happen, no damage to the car, no change in driving circumstances that would obviously trigger the airbags to deploy.i was able to drive the 100 yards home.i sustained minor injuries including air bag burn to left upper arm and temporary loss of hearing to the left ear.i subsequently developed a headache.i have been told by the manufacturer to have the car evaluated by a dealership, but that they would not cover the cost of towing at this time.
On 2010 january 04 at 15:00 i was driving west in my 2005 honda cr-v on the ny state thruway in the left lane, when atmile marker 233.3i received a head concussion from the side curtain airbag, which inflated but did not deflate. I was unconscious for some time, and i do not remember subsequent events. My car suffered extensive damage to the left front suspension, but no other people or vehicles were involved. The police arrived and arranged to have my car towed to a repair shop in oriskany, ny, and i was taken to a motel. Ten days later the repairs were completed, and the defective side curtain airbag was preserved by the repair shop.
On oct. 19,2007 i heard a pop inside my door, the window failed.i had to have a new window regulator assembly installed.honda has recalled this model but has failed to do any thing about it.
Have lost power to both low beam lights consecutively and randomly every monthover the past year of ownership of this vehicle have replaced headlights multiple times and lost low beams especially on drivers side during commute at night on the freeway.
My front left head lamp bulb has gone out two times in approx 1 year, the 2nd replacment of the front left headlamp bulb was done approx 3 weeks ago, within the last week the right side headlamp has gone out. I don't drive off road in any way, this vehicle is stricktly used for highway communiting.replacement was done all times by a bonafide mechanic.this appears to be a defect of some type.
"takata recall"- my window will not go up/down on the driver side (front). I was told that maybe a switching problem or the motor needs to replaced. The car was stationary for about 3 months.
Front driver side headlight keeps burning out. I have to keep changing it every few months. Now, it appears that the headlight has electrical issues. Low beam is very dim and the high beam does not work. I also experienced other type of electrical issues. Very often, the fuel cap warning light comes on. I check every time and the cap is screwed on tightly. After a few time turning my car off and on the light goes out. Also, after i drive my car, it always smells like burned plastic.my research on indicates that many other owners of the same year make and model had not only similar but same issues with their headlights. Can something be done about this? i will have to have my headlight fixed and will cost me a lot $$$$.
About every month we have had to replace the front low beamheadlights on either the drivers side or passenger side. We have replace the entire headlight assm anduse surgical gloves to put in the bulbs. They blow on the road and nobody can explain why and it is dangerous.it started awhile ago.
The master switch for the power windows intermittently does not work - whether the vehicle is stationary or in motion. I have now had it disconnected because the same switch in other honda c-rvs 2002-2006 has caused melting of the switch and even fires. My vin is not part of the current recall (nhtsa recall number: 12v-486) for this switch defect but i wonder if it should be? i have reported this issue to honda and it has been recorded as case # 05298119.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 202,000.
Since purchasing the vehicle two years ago, the headlights have been replaced 6 times.both driver and passenger sides fail.it has become a safety issue as i am often caught in the dark without proper lighting.each time the bulbs were installed correctly.last bulb failed 1/8/2016.
I have had to replace the low beam headlights on my 2005 cr-v several times in the past year alone (at least 4 times that i can remember). The lights go out randomly while driving (the exact speed is unknown). This obviously presents a very great safety hazard, and i am very concerned as my wife and newborn baby sometimes use this car. The last time we had the bulbs replaced, there appeared to be scorch marks on the wire connector that attaches to the back of the headlight assembly. There are many forum posts on the internet of drivers who have similar issues to mine with the same model year (2005) and also with 2006 cr-vs. Here is "one" of the forum threads containing such posts: http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/honda-cr-v/tlnd3jkaui93fs68g/p8if you could please investigate this issue it would be greatly appreciated.
The headlights keep burning out every 3-6 months, this can't be normal.i keep reading complaints online from others experiencing the exact same thing but honda is not taking responsibility.besides being costly, time-consuming and annoying, it is a safety hazard and it is illegal, you can get a ticket for driving with a burnt light.in addition the light on my dashboard has gone out, and the 2 rear doors electrical locks do not work.
Headlight recall. I am aware that there have been some headlight recalls on previous year models of honda crv. I have a 2005. The front headlights burn out and/or fail very frequently. I have owned the crv for maybe 5 years and have had to replace the bulbs 4 to 5 times. Now the right headlamp will not work even with a brand new bulb. This seems to be an electrical problem. The headlights could fail while driving at night. Please look into it. The date entered below is just the most recent failure.

We bought our 2005 cr-v se in sum 10 and love the vehicle.since then however, we've had to change headlight bulbs approximately 10 to 12 times.sometimes a single bulb, sometimes both... They simply go out every couple of months.we even had to ride home one night with "high beams" because the both low beams simply failed.the next day we purchased new bulbs, installed them on the cr-v, and now the low-beams work, but the high beams do not.it's kind of getting old buying new bulbs every few months! my problem/concern is the fact that we have a known recall for a extremely similar issue on 2002 thru 2004 cr-v models.that recalls summary states: "due to tension from the combination switch wiring harness, wear on the surface of the electrical terminal can occur, yielding copper oxide, which increases electrical resistance. Increased electrical resistance may cause the terminal ends to melt within the wiring harness connector."the consequence listed on this recall is: "if the terminal ends melt within the wiring harness connector, the low beam headlights may become inoperative, reducing driver visibility and increasing the risk of a crash."based on our experience, it seems the recall listed above should be expanded to include the 2005 cr-v models as well.we've looked at current recalls for our vehicle under the honda owners site and there are none listed for our vin... ?honda may want to re-visit this recalls coverage before any other 2005 cr-v owner's headlights go out in the middle of the night while driving... This is a major safety concern!

The driver side power lock cannot be locked or unlocked on the driver side with my key button.i have to manually lock and unlock the driver side door with my key.the rest of the locks work fine with the key button.
My headlights have been failing since i bought the vehicle 3 years ago. I've xhanged a multitude of lights, had the combination switch cleaned 3 times and finally put in a new switch, all with no results. So i found a recall ea11012 and honda says it's not for my vin number. This has been an ongoing problem for crv's. It happens when driving and is a safetyand fire issue.
The passenger side headlight went out in the middle of october. When i went to replace the bulb i noticed the element was not broken inside the bulb. At that point i took it into the dealership. The mechanic took the bulb from the passenger's side headlight and put it into the driver's side headlight and took the driver's side headlight and put it into the passenger's side headlight. He did not replace either bulb. This appeared to fix the problem because both headlights were bright when turned on. About a month later in the middle of november, again the passenger side headlight went out. It was the same problem as before, the bulb was in perfect shape but not shining. I took it back to the dealer again and this time the mechanic was not able to resolve the issue by the same means as before (switching light bulbs) or by replacing them with new bulbs. The dealership told me i need to replace the entire wiring for the passenger side headlight which is going to cost $1600.
Since 12/9/2007, i have had 22 low beam headlight h1 bulbs burn out.i have read posts by hundreds of other 2005 honda cr-v owners having the same issue with the headlights burning out.i see that honda has issued a recall for the 2002-2004 honda cr-v for this issue, but the 2005 and 2006 models should also be corrected.
Headlights (halogen) burn out within months of install, repeatedly.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated the air conditioner made a high pitch sound. The dealer recharged the air conditioner; however, that did not stop the high pitch sound. The dealer also checked the compressor and belts, but found no problems. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000. The current mileage was 62,000.
The car repaired with the honda dealer as per the recall notice for the "2002-2006 cr-v driver's power window master switch"today when it was parked in the covered parking garage of the macy's corporate place, it got fire after 1 hour it was parked. The driver side switch controls was completed melted and caught firepolice and fire dept came and put the fire outthe car was towed to classic collision 3507 old norcross road, duluth 30096 and they judged as total losshonda's replaced master switch is no help - it caused the fire and have photos to back it up.
Driver and sidepower windows switch malfunctions, render powerless, heats up and fail to operate.
Air bag light come on/off at will, dash light stop working, and the gages stop/glitch at will when it is either hot/cold/normal out side. And this all happened stationary, in motion, on a city street, or a highway, turning, braking, etc. And it is a problem that created the unsafe condition. And i am a mechanic and i am most certain it could be a computer are wiring factory defect for any more question? u may call[xxx] at [xxx] or e-mail at [xxx] or mailing to address to [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Low beam headlight lamps need to be replaced sevral times per year.
After about 10 minutes of driving at night the low beam head lights start to pulse or flicker (2 to 3 times a second) continuously for the remainder of the trip. Have to replace low beam bulbs every 3 to 5 months. Both low beam lights inadvertently turn off and on for a few seconds buy themselves. High beam lights seam to work fine.the above issues i listed are the same or similar to those in the honda service bulletin 12-023 that covers a recall for the 2002-04 crv. I believe that this recall should be amended to cover the 2005 honda crv before someone is injured or killed due to this ongoing safety failure.honda america told me that they were not aware of this problem. They said to take the crv to an authorized dealer to evaluate the defect but would not address my issues under the recall unless the nhtsa mandates an amendment to the recall to include the 2005 honda crv. I respectfully request that you address this concern immediately so that i and other 2005 honda crv owners can resolve these safety flaws.
Vehicle was parked and unattended in outside parking space over night and driver side window switch not working - fire occurred and started on driver side door- before fire driver window was not working.
For the last four years, i have had to replace headlight bulbs due to unexplained failure. I have needed to replace bulbs anywhere from one to six months. I would like my vehicle to be recalled forelectrical system:wiring:interior/under dashexterior lighting:headlightsexterior lighting:headlights:high/low beam dimmer switchexterior lighting:headlights:switch
My 2005 cr-v awd, four door locks failed within two months, first the passenger side door, then the rear passenger side, then the driver side, and then the tail door lock,i took it to a local dealer, and was told all the actuators were not working. I had two of them replaced, they are expensive. I was told there is a recall on the 2007 models, i think they should start an investigation on 2005 models also,
The low beam headlights have failed while the high beams continue to work. Thissame failure in other honda models merited a safety recall. Please see honda service bulletins 12-056 and 04-15. The 2005 cr-v has the same part, failure, and repair procedure for the light switch wire harness located in the steering column. I feel a safety recall should apply to my vehicle, since it is the same failure, same part to replace and same danger. This is a widelyreported issue on the honda service boards.
I received notice of the takata airbags, from the perfection honda 2603 american rd se, rio rancho, nm, 87124,i took the honda in for those repairs, that caused a electrical short, and damage to battery and parts, they refused to repair their damage, the damage light is still on, i asked them for repairs, to no avail, [xxx] [xxx] [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
Had to replace engine mount2x , suspension,' control for window on drivers side half works.. For no reason driver side window some how fell out of the support or guiding track andand broke inside the doorproblem now 3/17/18 for 5 months tge window control on the driver side doesn't roll up the window on the passenger sideyou can kind put it down .then last night tge window on the drivers side fall out of the track and breaks inside the door.so now we can notreally safe lick the car, leaving it open !! with possible rain. ' headlight cable-head lightbulb keeps burning out . ' engine mounts
Headlight bulbs fail frequently (anywhere from approximately 3-6 months) for no apparent reason. Usually one side at a time. Normally, replacing the bulb has been an effective (if expensive) solution. However, most recently, replacing the bulb didn't fix the problem. Fuses are all o.k. From several on-line forums, this is a very well documented problem. There is currently an outstanding recall for this problem for model years 2002-2004 (nhtsa campaign number: 12v136000). From my research, this problem seems to be at least as prevalent (if not more so) in the 2005 and 2006 model years. Please expand the recall to include those model years and force honda to own up to what appears to be a poor design issue. This is a safety issue.i have owned hondas for over 30 years, and exclusively for the last 9 years. I don't know what my next car will be, except that it won't be a honda.
The headlights no longer work. We can use the fog lights and the brights but not the headlights. We've had the bulbs and the fuses changed without any result. Other years for this same model have been recalled for this issue, but not the 2005 as of yet.
My driver side window regulator and motor malfunctioned; it required replacement. I then received a recall notification several months later regarding the power window master switch replacement - i believe my master window motor malfunction is related to this recall
I have replaced both the high beam and low beam bulbs a total of 17 times.this is a common problem with the honda cr-v's with no resolution.honda uses a unique connection at the bulb which i believe may be the culprit.
Electrical fire in engine compartment, wiring harness melted and caught fire, battery melted.driving about 35mph, started to smell smoke and the vehicle engine cut out. Rolled to the side of the road, called for help and noticed the smoke getting worse and then seen the flames.extinguished the fire with the help of bystanders and residents living near by
Low beam headlightsever since we purchased the car, we've had to replace the low beam bulbs every few weeks. They burn out at completely random times (its happened both while in motion and stationary, in residential areas as well as out driving through countryside, freeways; basically everywhere). Not only is this an inconvenience due to the amount of money spent on replacements, it's also extremely dangerous. They've burned out on night drives in the countryside where our only option was to use high beams the rest of the way, etc. Unacceptable that honda has not yet acknowledged the issue, even though it's very well documented online as being an issue. There was a recall for this issue up through 2004 cr-v's but they've not extended to the 05 model year.
Our insured took their 2006 honda crv for maintenance. One week later after oil change & differential service - auto caught on fire while in travel. Insured auto fire originated at right front under hood.
Low beam headlights have been blowing on a regular basis since oct. 2008.they last anywhere from a few weeks to a couple years each.both sides are affected by this.have had a local mechanic replace each time.i didn't realize this was a widespread problem with honda until researching it today.recalls are in place starting with the '06 model. I have seen several comments from other '05 owners with the same problem and the costly solution offered to them. The '05 cr-vs need to be added to this recall.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the head lamps failed without warning. The contact replaced the head lamps; however, the failure occurred approximately one week later. The contact found a recall related to the failure that stated that the wiring harness, located in the steering wheel malfunctioned, and needed to be replaced. The vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The nhtsa campaign number was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 190,000.
My headlight bulbs burn-out after only 4-6 weeks.this has been happening for about 3 years.the short-bulb-life event occurs about 70% on the driver side, and about 30% on the passenger side. There is no sign of moisture entering the bulb/light area.this is a constant safety issue for me since the problem means i am often driving with only one headlight. This problem is also very expensive-- approximately 12-15 new bulbs per year !the bulbs burn out when driving on roads of all types.on this form below, where "when did this happen?" is requested, i have entered the date of the most recent occurrence (bulb burned out after only 5 weeks of life) although as stated above, this event has been happening regularly for the past 3 years.
The driver side power window switch has failed and window will not open.
I purchased a 2005 honda crv in 2018 of february in ozark missouri.it went through a missouri safety check and passed a few months later i needed to come back to california and since i've been back within three months time my engine my belts my brakes my starter my electrical sensors my fuel they have all seem to have failed and been replaced by a mechanical i paid in december 2018 i received a recall notice to take my car in so the airbags can be checked the whole engine and exhaust system and electrical system need checking as well because it's not a safe car to drive and i've been feeling that for a couple of months. It started off as a good car but once i change the engine oil everything seem to malfunction and go down like dominoes car has failed to start several times has shut off without notice
About 2 years ago some of the panel lights went out.honda told me that it would be expensive to replace only a few of them and if i could manage as it is now, to wait until more lights stop working, then replace them.
Drivers side door locks:the door lock on the drivers side will not lock or unlock the drivers door unless the key is used on the drivers side.trying to unlock/lock the doors with the remote will work for all the doors except the drivers.trying to unlock/lock the doors with the key will work for all the doors except the drivers unless you are using the key on the drivers side.
Please extend nhtsa existing investigation into headlamps on the 2002-2004 models into model year 2005 and forward.we have replaced the low beam headlamp bulbs multiple times in the past year and a half.the most recent bulb replacement burned out within 2 months. We have received a ticket for a headlamp out.our mechanic replaced not only the drivers' side bulb but the assembly that the bulb fits into - lasted less than 8 weeks. The next step is the harness and that is extremely expensive and may not fix the problem. See owner forum website: http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/honda-cr-v/tlnd3jkaui93fs68g/p4thank you
The rear door light warning go off and on all the timeand the rear door hinges are wearing out a lot.. I feel the rear door everytime i hit a pothole is move
Headlights keep burning out.i have replaced them four times in the past two months.the dashboard lights are burning out too.i had to replace the glove box light, the temperatue control, air conditioning, recirculate, odometer lights.now the rpm light is starting to go.it is getting very expensive to be replacing all these lights.the headlights are $8.99 each and i paid $230 to replace the dash lights.after replaceing the dash lights, when i use the remote to unclock my car, all the dash lights blink three times (they never did that before).i also noticed that when i turn on my turn signal i hear a high pitch noise.i am worried that my headlights will go out when the store is closed and i can't get it fixed.i may get a ticket or get into an accident.i drive to and from work in the dark.also what if both headlights go out at the same time, that could be dangerous.i worry that my spedometer may go i and i won't know how fast i am going.i have told the dealer that i think there is an electrical problem, but they insist there is not.i do not agree with them.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while parked with the key out of the ignition, the engine continued to run. After the engine stopped running, there was a clicking sound. The contact noticed smoke coming from the driver's side door panel. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis. The vehicle was included in the recall under nhtsa campaign number: 12v486000 (electrical system , visibility). The contact stated the recall may be related to the engine failure she experienced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.
On 5 occasions in the past 3 years the drivers side head light went out. Fuse was good.
The vehicle was difficult to start on the first cold day of the season. When checking the voltage on the battery, i found that there was corrosion on the positive connection. I also noticed that the original clamp had been replaced with an after-market clamp. Further inspection revealed corrosion back through the cable itself which would not allow cutting the affected cable because it would have been too short to reach the battery.
Driving down the road, the driver side headlight went out, this is my second replacement in 3 weeks. Don't know if the left one will go out too but i live in a woodsy area and am terrified that as i am driving down the winding road i will be left without lights.i carry a flashlight with me now.it's mandatory.honda please issue recalls for the faulty headlights.
The driver side headlight went out for the third time in 12 months.these vehicles need to be recalled and fixed, as the 2004 model was recalled but the 2005 models seem to have the same issue.
The drivers side window wont go down intermittently which i consider a danger as we have a bridge that cars have been shoved off into the water and it scares me that it could happen to me and i would need that window to go down so i can escape before that window fails or the whole electrical system fails.i have asked the dealership to check it multiple times but of course it wont do it while at the dealership.the car is almost always stationary when the window wont go down.it happens at the atm and other drive thrus.the recall number is 20v768 but so far my car isn't listed even though i have had this problem for about 3 years.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the driver and passenger side low beam headlights failed to remain illuminated and were replaced four times in one year. In addition, the instrument panel lighting failed to illuminate. As a result, the contact could not view the gauges. An independent mechanic provided replacement parts for the low beam headlights and instrument panel lighting, but the failures continued. The cause of the electrical failures was unknown. The contact stated that the vehicle also exhibited tire cupping for the rear tires. The tires had been replaced every 2.5 years due to excessive treadwear on the rear tires. The contact had the tires rotated every 3,000 miles; however, the rear tire cupping continued. First team honda (3444 western branch blvd, chesapeake, va 23321, (757) 337-6597) and williamsburg honda (7101 richmond rd, williamsburg, va 23188, (757) 564-4671) were notified of the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
The electronic door opener locked the car even when keyes in ignition.i was locked out of the car twice with the keyes in the ignition, and on several occasions i was unable to open driver side door, and had to exit vehicle from passenger door.dealer replaced locking mechanism.
Circa november 2011 the driver's door actuator on my 2005 honda cr/v failed.subsequently two additional door lock actuators failed.the dealer wants circa $300 to repair each of these actuators.i believe these are design flaws and that honda should repair/replace these actuators on an extended/goodwillwarranty basis.
Vehicle was being driven at approximately 35 miles per hour during evening in low traffic on 4 lane urban road.the engine stalled abruptly and all warning lights came on and gauge indicators fell to zero.coincident with the stall, the car lost steering (the steering wheel could be moved no more than 1-2 inches to the left or right, with reference to steering wheel circumference), would not brake (with full weight pressure on pedal), and was brought to a stop by engine drag and application of emergency brake. Restarting required several attempts.had this problem manifested in heavy traffic on a curve at freeway speed, a serious accident would likely havebeen inevitable.
The driver side master window switch failed causing the part to get very hot, melt, and emit smoke from the switch.this could have very easily started a large fire in the vehicle.once the switch is melted, it shorts out the circuit causing the fuses to pop and the window will no longer operate.i contacted a honda dealership and discovered the same part # used in the 2006 model is recalled for this very same reason.i believe this affects more parts than are covered by the recall as a quick look on the web uncovered several more cases for 2005 models.
My honda cr-v has had the headlights go out approximately 8 times in the last 18 months.they usually go out one at a time, but this past weekend, they both went out simultaneously.honda says this is a recall for 2002 to 2004 cr-v for a wiring issue on the low beam headlights, but 2005 is not included.i believe there is defective wiring in my headlight system and should be covered by a recall.
The following is a problem that i have with my veh, which i hope you can resolve. Cr.v 2005vin # [xxx]maintenance history: all scheduled maintenance were performed by honda of nanuet.problem: approximately 2 years after purchase the led lights of the instrument panel, starting from the left side, begin to go out. Resulting that during night-time driving i am unable to see the temperature gauge and part of the rpm gauge.during a scheduled maintenance i brought this situation up, to the svc mgr who promptly told me that it was not a covered item. I mentioned that i was extremely concerned about this safety issuebut the issue was not resolved.needless to say, more of the led lights have stopped working; the only lights that continue to work are the ones on the right side of the speedometer that light up 120mph thru 140mph.this situation in my opinion is an extremely dangerous one while driving at night. And may result in an accident or worse.the leds obliviously were defective from the beginning and should have been replaced by the service department in nanuet. Since this situation is potentially dangerous- since i do use the vehicle at night, i am respectfully requesting that honda replace the leds lights at no cost to me.i spoke with mr sergio salvador, cust svc on 4/1/10 who simply stated that i should've done something earlier. I told that i did informed the dealer service mgr two years after purchase, of the problem and my concern about my safety driving at night, i also told that this defect is a serious safety issue with severe possible consequences, and further emphasized that the honda dealership was aware of the problem 3 years ago but did nothing about it. Mr. Salvador still maintained that honda would not make the repair. I told him that the led lights must have been defective from the onset. There was no resolution. Therefore i am making this complaint. Please help.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Led lights on the dash board of my 2005 honda crv began failing approximately 2 years ago (may 2008) and have now burned out on left side, obscuring tachometer and temp gauge and 1/2 of speedometer. Honda service in new britain ct (schaller) refused to fix under my extended warranty (light bulbs not covered). It appears others have had same problem. Honda should do the right thing and recall all '05 crvs for a global fix.
Vsa diagnostic trouble code. Vsa light comes on and off at will. Sometimes the vsa light is preceded by a loud banging noise when braking and turning. Car jerks and screeches. Vsa light goes off when restarting car. Dealership will only diagnose and work on under warranty if vsa light is on. After persistent visits to dealership, they were able to diagnose and order a part even though vsa light was off.
I have a 2005 honda crv purchased new from jeff wyler honda in florence, ky.twice now, my ignition has simply shut itself off while i was driving. Once this occurred on the highway (in 2006) and again this week (2007) on a busy road.when the car shuts off, the green key icon in the dash flashes.luckily both times i was able to coast out of traffic, shift into park and restart.i have been able to restart immediately, but it's a really dangerous problem when you are driving 65 mph and your car shuts itself off. The first time this happened i had about 40,000 miles on the car.now i have nearly 60,000.otherwise, the crv is in perfect condition.i noticed that there was a recall on honda crv ignition switches in 2002, and the description sounded identical to the problem i'm having.i think that they have not fixed the problem yet.i took it to the dealer for service a year ago, but they could not replicate the problem.they told me that they suspected it was cell phone interference with the ignition switch.if so, that's a big flaw because...who doesn't have a cell phone in their purse in the car?
The low beam headlights on my 2005 cr-v have been replaced 6 times over the past 7 months.sometimes the passenger side, sometimes the drivers side, and one time both headlights went out at night.there has been a recall of this exact problem with 2002-2004 cr-v due to a faulty wiring harness, but not with any later models yet.i have informed honda of this problem and they have no resolution at this time.
Vehicle stability or vsa sight and abs light came on at the same time. Honda dealer advised me that the repair would cost me $2337 dollars to repair. Iwould think that a recall would be in order for this safety related and stability related problem!
Rear brakes were found by repair shop to not be working at all.we had to replace the modulator assembly.cost of repairs was $1800.00.we have seen that there are many complaints about modulator assemblys on honda vehicles failing.
I am the original owner of the well maintained vehicle, a 2005 honda crv with 56,781 miles currently, and no longer covered by any warranty. At @ 55,500 miles, the car had the abs and vsa lights come on spontaneously on the dashboard display which indicated that they were not functional. They would not turn off. The car was taken to its regular service dealership, economy honda in chattanooga,tn and the problem was diagnosed (free of charge) as a failure of the abs/vsa modulator (computer). Cost to repair was @ $2,400.00 (@ $1800 for the part, balance labor). They said it was o.k. To drive but it had no anti-lock brakes or vsa.because this was a safety issue, an unusual occurrence and very expensive to repair, i contacted the district honda customer service (case # n012011-03-1501146) and explained the problem. They were most helpful and courteous. They recorded the complaint and after 3 days honda called and agreed to share 50% of the cost to repair. The crv was repaired on march 29,2011 at the same dealership with my cost share of $1206.79. In my internet search on the problem, i found at least 55 instances (usa, ca, and eu) of the same abs/vsa problem and cost to repair on one blog i found. All vehicles were 2005 and 2006 honda crvs.
2005 honda cr v ,130,000 ks, at 1500 rpm veh.mshuttersthen smoothes out at 1800 rpmoccurs when going about 50 km/h ,dealership said this occurs its a 1800$fix or change tranny fluid2 or 3 times , at 100 ks, intervals, did this it stills occursbut fewer times, im worriedtranny will go, its a default in manufacturing.
While driving, the car feels as though it skips when the accelerator is pressed, then when stopped at a light, the engine momentarily "dies", the general warning signal and the vsa/abs/airbag/brake lights come on and then the engine snaps back on.i took it to the dealer and they retrieved failure codes in the abs control module:yaw rate sensor failure; sensor cluster failure.the dealer reset the codes, could not duplicate the issue and told me to come back if it does it again.my car is not safe to drive and has been parked since 6/1/17.i contacted honda and was assigned a case number, but have not spoken to anyone since filing the complaint.after researching the symptoms on the internet, i discovered several other people having the same issue.when i researched the codes, i discovered that the nhtsa had honda recall the 2005 pilot, acura mdx and acura rls.i have a video of it happening but am uploading screenshots.but i am more than happy to provide the video, the same video i showed the dealer.
Bought vehicle in august, used with 136,000 miles. The first week, the a/c compressor went out. The 2nd week, the condenser. 2 weeks later the car stalled out. Check engine light, vsa and warning light came on. Was able to get it restarted and it was throwing 4 codes. P1009 61-1 62-1 83-1. Took it in under dealer warranty. The changed the o2 sensors and gave it back. 2 weeks later, same thing only now it was burning oil and gas and running really rich. The oil smells like gas even.they did a whole engine swap and a new starter, among other things. And 2 weeks later it stalled out again. And the crank shaft and vtec solenoid needed replaced.as well as the starter. 9 times i've had it and now after the same burning through oil and gas issues it's started smoking and making a grinding sound while idling.
Air conditioner compressor locking up
I purchased a 2005 honda crv in 2018 of february in ozark missouri.it went through a missouri safety check and passed a few months later i needed to come back to california and since i've been back within three months time my engine my belts my brakes my starter my electrical sensors my fuel they have all seem to have failed and been replaced by a mechanical i paid in december 2018 i received a recall notice to take my car in so the airbags can be checked the whole engine and exhaust system and electrical system need checking as well because it's not a safe car to drive and i've been feeling that for a couple of months. It started off as a good car but once i change the engine oil everything seem to malfunction and go down like dominoes car has failed to start several times has shut off without notice
I stopped at a gas station and got gas. I turned off the air conditioning before turning off the engine, as always. Got in and started the car, turned on the a/c, and it blew hot air. I kept trying it all the way home and nothing but hot air. The next day i noticed a ticking sound under the hood when it was idling. Mid summer, but no money to bring it in. One month later the ticking under the hood got progressively worse so i took it in for a free a/c check. Turns out the whole a/c system needs to be replaced (estimate $1000) compressor w/clutch, orifice tube, receiver/dryer, and re-charge. Thousands of online complaints and potential hazards. Ticking could be caused by all of this, or loose valves, exhaust manifold, etc... Contacting honda, to see what they can do...
The car was making noise diagnosed by honda as the transmission pump. Car had only 79,000 miles and was serviced regularly and all fluids are changed regularly. I had the transmission fixed elsewhere for half the price honda wanted. I n,ever heard of a transmission problem at such a low mileage. Very disappointed in honda.
My husband was on the way home after a visit to georgia,he was just west of tallahassee when thee car started acting like it was out of gas, jumping and bucking. He managed to get it off the interstate and that was it no pulling no nothing.we called our insurance because, back in april we hada accident and the car had to go back into the shop several for different reasons, each time my husband said "the transmission is not acting right, there is slack action even on the day he left whichbelieve was 29th of september he stopped at the honda dealership here in pensacola and was told "you have a little water but should be ok.well by the end of the week, in the middle of the night the car is on the side of the road and undrivable.towed back to tallahassee and found a motel (only room available 200$ a night.i got my car back yesterday to the tune $4607.00 wow!!!!! is there any information on transmission problems?we think it was caused by the accident or at the least the accident helped the demise of the transmission.in your opinion is this possible? still very hard to steer.for several months there was severe pulling to the left, they finally found the front strut was pulled out of the arms that holds it in place, just lying on top,i believe the force of the other car hitting ours caused this problem, and the insurance paid this but they are saying the accident did not cause the transmission problems.
Ac compressor / condenser originally went bad summer 2017 and was replaced.worked for remainder of season into start of next season.summer 2018 went bad again and mechanic replaced it again, stating possible defective part.worked again for remainder of 2018 season.beginning/mid 2019 car heat / defrost started to work improperly, not defrost, caused engine to make stressing noise but noise would stop if i turned off system (ac/heat/defrost).june 2019 engine started to make same stressing noise even when ac system wasn't on.finally, monday, 7/8/2019 while driving to a car rental place, my 2005 honda cr-v shut down completely at least 5-6 times til it finally began smoking from the engine and i was forced to pull over and get it towed to my mechanic. I am told by my mechanic that it is yet again the ac system.the is now the 3rd time i am being faced with having to repair this defect in the car's ac/heat/defrost system, each time at an expense ranging from $800.00 - $1,700.00.now i am without my vehicle facing another costly repair bill and having to spend money on a rental vehicle while waiting to find out how to proceed with my honda cr-v.my mechanic has also informed that over the last nine months or so, they have seen at least 6-7 other customers with honda cr-vs, come in with the same recurring problem.something needs to be done to address this problem especially if it's occurring to more and more honda cr-v owners.as a side note, my honda cr-v only has approximately 147,000 miles on it.
While on a road trip driving home on a major interstate highway, the a/c compressor went out. After a few miles warning lights went off and the engine temperature shot up and it started overheating. We got off of the highway as fast as we could. When we pulled over, my husband opened the hood and intense steam blew out from the radiator area. Turned out that, unbeknownst to us, the compressor seized up and caused the serpentine belt to break, which disabled the water pump.it ruined the damaged the radiator and warped the head gasket. We were 2 1/2 hours from home!once were able to get it repaired and home, we took it in to the mechanic so he could look at the a/c. Metal shards were in the condenser and it eventually got into the line and into the compressor. Another a/c issue has been the condenser fan. It has to be replaced every 3-4 years. It was replaced 3 years ago. It is out again.
After starting the car i put my foot on the brake pedal, took off the emergency brake, and put the car into drive. My foot was still on the brake, but the car took off at a high speed as if i had floored the gas pedal, and would not stop with my foot still on the brake pedal. I threw the gear into park and turned off the ignition. This same thing happened to me in september 2009 while i was driving on the long island expressway. At that time the brake would not stop the car, so i put the car in neutral and pulled off the road, put the car in park and turned off the ignition.in september 2009 i called the honda dealer about the problem and was told not to bring the car in, that i must have had the mat jammed on top of the gas pedal. That was not the case today or in 2009. This isba deadly dangerous problem. Please investigate this and put out an alert on tv to all car owners that if their car should get stuck in acceleration mode they should put the car in neutral and turn off the ignition. Thank you.
The air conditioner stopped blowing cold air. An independent service technician diagnosed the problem as the compressor bearings failing internally and causing a hole in the casing. The estimate is $1350.00 to replace the compressor, condenser, expansion valve and flush the system of fragments that may have entered the system. After a phone call to american honda i am told there is no safety recall on this issue and my vehicle is outside it's warranty period. Since the repairs have already been started, i am unable to take the vehicle to an authorized honda dealership for diagnosis. Honda's position is they do not have contracts with independent service providers so they are unable to assist me.this 2005 honda crv has 90,000 miles and joins the ranks of other hondas with similar uncompensated repairs for air conditioner failure.
Parked in a spot in front of party city, foot was on brake and i put the car into park.removed my foot from the brake and the car accelerated into the building.when the car finally stopped because i hit a brick wall i went to shut the car off and it was still in park.i removed the key.fortunatley no one was injured, my 2 grandsons were in the back in their car seats and my daughter was in the passenger front seat.my car is going to be repaired by a honda dealer and i will stress what happened but do not feel confident that they will look for the problem.they will probably say that i am a crazy lady and must of stepped on the gas instead of the brake.i absolutely know that did not happen, the car took off on me.i almost felt like it went into auto drive.what can i do-this car is not safe!
Ac complete failure with no warning at 90000 miles.its twin car, 2006 crv had exact same problem at same mileage almost a year to the day later.$1400 repair, system totally shot with no warning.honda denies problems in these vehicle years, but paid part of the cost of repair as we noted to them that it was a known issue in the 2003 and 2004 crvs.
Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle stalled on september 6, 2005, april 30, 2006, and may 4, 2006 at various speeds.each time the vehicle was moved safely to the side of the road and immediately restated.following each incident the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who has been unable to identify or repair the serious safety problem.
My 2005 cr-v had the "black death" issue last may of 08. That seemed odd enough to me that a compressor would go that soon in such a "reliable" car. My whole family owns hondas. The dealer told me that it would cost 3200 to fix it. That my compressor "exploded" (lol, i am not an idiot, unfortunately for him). I immediately took it to my personal mechanic, who showed me the locked springs inside the compressor, and said it was indeed "odd" to see an ac failure that soon. After he fixed it up for 1300. I got a call from the honda serviceman offering to maybe "work something out". Well, with a small child. I could not afford to bargain for ac in may in south florida, so he was a tad too late. I did not know, until my compressor went out again today, that there was this issue and was known. I have contacted honda america, who were no help at all, and the dealer wanted to charge me 105.00 to diagnose it, and i would not be charged if i fixed it there. Hmmm. Honda america says they will only take estimates from honda dealers and not other state licensed mechanic. Sounds very fishy to me!! i am now out ac (driving 40 miles to work at the tail end of the flu), and who knows how much money next. They are not willing to pay for it all they said already, and they hadn't even gotten a quote. I feel like i need to do something! i am so angered that they would just brush it under the rug like that. There are so many people out here that have the same trouble. I have signed the lawsuit petition, but not sure what to do next. I know it's october, but it's hot here in fl!!! any ideas?? at this point, i am definitely not buying another honda!!!! never thought i'd say that, but i can't afford to replace this thing every year, and neither should i!!
2005 honda cr-v makes a "roaring" noise when between 1500 and 2000 rpms.this occurs every time.dealer has replaced the exhaust system and the center bearing of the drive shaft.the problem continues.
Our 2005 honda crv's engine caught on fire approimately. 300 miles after the first oil change.the dealer performed the oil change not us.the dealer blamed it on a faulty oil filter.
Dt*:the contact stated while driving 55 mph the vehicle stalled without warning.it was maneuvered off the road and restarted.the vehicle was driven to the dealer who could not duplicate the problem.
My 2006 honda crv spontaneously combusted while sitting in front of my home. It had not been driven for at least 8 hours. The fire started in the engine compartment and consumed the entire front of the car before the fire department put it out. The car had no mechanical problems, had been serviced by a certified honda dealer regularly (the lat time was in april 2009), and was turned off and locked when it ignited.the car is totaled. The firemen who put out the fire indicated that there was no sign of vandalism, as the car was parked and locked, no sign of accelerant was found, and the fire was in the engine compartment, which was locked.
2005 honda crv airconditioning system complete failure
2005 honda cr-v. Condenser fan motor shorting out. Some have even burnt wires in the harness to this motor. After seeing this problem on one of my customers cars and finding out that the dealers have seen several of these and even worse i seem to find this to be a large problem with honda's.
My a/c compressor in my 2006 honda crv blew up causing damage to the entire air conditioning system.this happened on a 9 hour trip through texas summer heat with young children in the back seat.after doing some research on the internet i found out that it is a common problem among second generation crvs.honda is selling these cars knowing that the compressor is defective and has not issued a recall and they refuse to pay for the full cost of repair.in addition, a repair does not guarantee that it won't happen again.
Dt:the consumer owns a 2005 honda crv.the honda crv's have been prone to catching fire after oil changes and he has seen other complaints for this problem on the nhtsa website for the 2003 and 2004. He had his oil changed on 6-21-05 and his vehicle caught on fire on 6-23-05. While driving he stopped and looked back and he saw a trail of fuel for about 100 yards and 1ft and half wide until the vehicle stopped.the fire occurred in the engine compartment. The fire was first noticed from the engine compartment. There was no unusual activity noticed before the fire started. He thinks this might have been a fuel fire the fire department and police department suspected the same type of fire.
Driving down the on ramp onto i-95 my 2005 srv se engine caught on fire. The last time i serviced the car was last week for an oil change. Since then i have driven over 300 miles with no problems or warning signs. The car is not totaled and i am dealing with the insurance.
Our insured took their 2006 honda crv for maintenance. One week later after oil change & differential service - auto caught on fire while in travel. Insured auto fire originated at right front under hood.
I took my car for a wash and while i was waiting for my turn, i started hearing some noise coming from the engine-pitch sound. I got alarmed and i thought it will go. Later when i drove home, i parked my car in the garage and the noise continued. On the 03 oct 05 the sound increased in pitch but i amunable to diagnose where its coming from. For those who are familiar with sonar sound(navy ships), the noise sounds the same and high pitched.
The consumer experienced several mechanical problem with the 2005 honda crv ex.the center bearing was replaced because it caused the vehicle to vibrate/noise while idling.the consumer still heard noise in the rear of the vehicle while driving at any speed.the technician said the noise was a characteristic of the vehicle.the vehicle runs rough with the a/c on.the dealer said this was normal.the consumer would like the manufacturer to replace the vehicle or proved a full refund since the dealer cannot find the source of the noise.the windshield wiper would drag across the windshield and failed to clear the windshield of rain.
2006 honda crv consumer found an engine oil leak. The valve cover gasket was leaking.oil was found leaking from the engine area for the second time 5 months later. The engine valve assembly was replaced.
The contact owns a 2006 honda crv.the contact noticed that there was an oil leak in the head casket.the dealer repaired the failure; however, another oil leak was found near the ze ch actuator casket a few months later.the contact stated that the failure was related to the oil pressure regulator.the failure was previously repaired and now it is easy to observe if the failure was repaired correctly.the failure mileage was 8,524 and current mileage was 10,003.
The clip holding my floor mat in place broke causing my mat to ride up over the gas pedal.this caused the brake pedal to accelerate. The vehicle was involved in a car accident due to this clip breaking.
Took my car to the dealer to have the dash ac looked at was told thecompressor had what they called grenaded. I was told that the compressor had blew apart and sent small pieces of metal through the ac system. And the whole complete system had to be replaced i have read on a few sites of other peoples crv doing the same thing.
Since 2010 low beam headlights fail, one side or the other, every 2 or 3 months. Have replaced both sides several times. I just heard about a recall and discovered 2005 not included - it needs to be.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 55 mph with the headlights activated, the passenger side headlight suddenly failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic several times for the malfunction. The driver's side headlight bulb was replaced three times. In addition, the passenger's side headlight bulb was replaced two times. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
I purchased my 2005 honda cr-v ex brand new.i had no real issues with it until around 2007. From that point on i have had my low-beam headlights (plural) burn out, almost in tandem, at least twice a year.the frequency appears to be increasing. Occasionally, they will take the dome light with them.i haven't touched the bulbs when replacing the dead sets.i have noticed a massive build-up of what appears to be black grease on the connectors when i've changed them the last few times.i don't know if this is the cause (if so, what is causing it) or a side effect of the problem. I noticed there was a recall on the 2002-2004 cr-v for the same symptoms (don't know if the cause was the same). I would like to report this as a "known issue" after reading approximately 161 complaints from others having the same problem (ref:cr-v headlight problemat http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/honda-cr-v/tlnd3jkaui93fs68g/p9).i would also like to know what the problem actually is.this is both a safety hazard and an expensive recurring repair.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the low beam headlights failed several times. The headlights were replaced by the contact and the dealer on several occasions but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 12v136000 (exterior lighting) and 12v136000 (exterior lighting). The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
This vehicle, and its twin, a 2006 crv, constantly have blown out headlights (low beams).they blow out every few thousand miles, which is a very expensive, annoying, and dangerous problem.honda denies a problem, but between the two vehicles we have replaced dozens and dozens of headlamps, we now buy them three at a time to cut down our trips to the auto parts store.we rarely use the headlights in daytime, only when necessary, which i feel is compromising safety, since the lights go out on such a constant basis.
The driver side headlight burns out within 5 months of replacing the bulb.i have gone through 2 bulbs already.there seems to be an electrical issue causing this.the fuses are okay and correct.
The headlights of my 2005 crv have had to be replaced 3 times on each side during the last year. I see that there is a recall for that defect but it does not cover the 2005 models. When will honda announce the recall on this for the 2005 model?i am concerned that both headlights will fail at the same time and i will be driving at night. Then it will be a huge safety issue.
Purchased new in march, 2005, we quickly learned that the low beam headlights on our 2005 honda crv burn out frequently, usually on both sides and within a few days of each other. When replaced, they will last only a year or so before burning out again.we notice they're burned out when we're driving. We use the headlights both during the day (for safety) and of course at night. We've tried several different types of replacement lamps, but none seem to change the pattern of lamp life.most recently, i've replaced the low beam headlamps four times (2 each side) within the past 6 months.last night when tested after replacement, the passenger side lamp only glowed (due to a bad ground connection?) and mysteriously, the bright beam lamp on the same side had also quit working. I have driven approximately one million miles in other vehicles over the past 27 years and have never experienced similar problems with such frequency.because of the frequency and serious safety concerns due to the unexpected recurrences, i have no choice now but to ask the local honda dealership to look into the problem.research shows that this is a serious enough problem with other model years of the same vehicle that it has generated safety recalls.please widen your investigation and results to include subsequent model years of the honda crv's, specifically 2005.
The headlights no longer work. We can use the fog lights and the brights but not the headlights. We've had the bulbs and the fuses changed without any result. Other years for this same model have been recalled for this issue, but not the 2005 as of yet.
2005 crv has headlight low beam burn out problem as i've seen on the internet. The headlights burns out every couple of months. Both sometimes both burn out at the same time. This seems very dangerous. So far there has not been an accident that i know of. Since 2006 have replace 6 bulbs.
Low beam headlight on driver side intermittent. Bang on headlight and it goes on. Now it doesn't work at all. Have changed bulb but this has not helped.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated the headlights shut on and off. The contact stated that one or the other of the headlights would fail at first and now both of them have failed. The contact stated that the dealer said that the headlights failed when water was entering the headlights or the lights were damaged when they were replaced. The contact stated that the failure was also an issue even though the lightshave continued to shut on and off. The lights bulbs were changed several times and continue to fail. The failure mileage was 33,837 and the current mileage was 130,000.
2005 crv has flickering headlights, interior lights, instrument panel map lights, etc... It has also been problematic since new with low beam headlight failurehave replaced headlights at an average of 6 month intervals.this should be placed on arecall to extend through 2006 models.this is a problem repeatedly mentioned on other blog / forum automotive sites.
The low-beam headlights on my 2005 honda cr-v burn out after an unusually short time.over my three years of owning this car, the low beam bulbs burn out annually.now, the driver side low-beam bulb has lasted only two months.all bulbs i have used as replacements have been oem brand names: either sylvania or philips.headlights are critical for nighttime safety.the headlight failure problem on 2005 honda cr-v vehicles is a safety problem.
Since purchasing the vehicle, i have replaced the low beam headlight on the passenger side five times. Recently, the driver side headlight burnt out, but simply replacing the bulb did not work.
Low beam headlamps continue to fail, need to keep replacing bulbs now only one works.this is a known issue w hondas for which a massive recall was issued in 2012 for over 800,000 cars.i called honda who looked up my vin and even though it is a known issue they refused to do anything because my vin did not appear on their list.
The contact stated that only the high beams could be activated on the headlights.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised her that the combination switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired for the combination switch. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 119,300.
On 5 occasions in the past 3 years the drivers side head light went out. Fuse was good.
I am constantly having to change the low beam headlamps on both driver and passenger side.there have been numerous times when the headlights go out and stop working while operating on the highway. I have tried different bulbs, and have determined it is not any particular type or quality.the new bulb will typically last 1-3 months.this has been costly, as well as dangerous for my wife to drive at night.i also prefer to drive with the headlights on during the day for safety, which is not always the case when they are going out every 1-3 months.i have researched this, and had found it to be a very comon problem.i found a possible recall for this problem on the 2002-2004 models, but mine is a 2005 model is having the same problem others are reporting.for the safety of myself, and others on the roadway, as well as the numerous other vehicle owners having the sameproblem, i would request this problem be considered as a safety recall.i also have documentation including dates and mileage for each bulb change which is available upon request.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact had to replace the front low beam headlights six times within four months. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,700.
Both low beam headlights stopped working at the same time. I was parked when this happened. The fuses are fine. This is the same failure for which honda has issued a recall, but limited it to 2002-2004 cr-vs. There are numerous accounts of this failure on repair forums for 2005 year cr-vs, and a number of complaints already in the nhstb database as well. The recall needs to be expanded to cover the year 2005.
See owner forum website: http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/honda-cr-v/tlnd3jkaui93fs68g/p4thank you
In august 2011, right headlight burned out and two weeks later, left headlight burned out.mid december, left burned out again and by end of december 2011, left burned out yet again within about two weeks of changing it. It appears other cr-v owners are experiencing frequent burnouts as well.i haven't personally tested to see if it's only low beam vs high beam but if it happens again, will do so.
The low-beam headlights on my 2005 honda cr-v burn out after an unusually short time. Overmyyears of owning the2005 honda cr-v which i bought in 2004, the low beam bulbs burn out annually. Now, the driver side low-beam bulb. All bulbs i have used as replacements have been oem brand names: either sylvania or philips. Headlights are critical for nighttime safety. The headlight failure problem on 2005 honda cr-v vehicles is a safety problem.i have now replaced both the headlights entirely with new parts.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the low beam headlights malfunctioned while driving 35 mph. The contact replaced the headlights five times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The contact notified the manufacturer and the manufacturer stated that the wiring harness was faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact did not replace the wiring harness. The failure mileage was 120,000.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. While driving 55 mph, the headlights malfunctioned and dimmed without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,795.
2005 honda crv-se:ireplaced driver sidelow beam headlamp in 2008.in 40 years of driving, i've never had to replace a headlamp in any car i've owned.(i buy a new car every 10 years, and i've owned cadillac, volkswagen, mazda, and pontiac prior to honda.)my honda also has a burned out dash light and i've replaced the dome light.
Intermittent headlight failure 9-15-06- n/c warranty work.low beam lights cut in and out - 11/06/06n/c warranty work.low beam headlight out - 9-18-08 - cost = 22.50 + cost of bulb 10.00=$32.50.headlight bulb out - 12-6-2008 - cost = $26.29.left headlight inoperable -6-11-2011 cost = $32.85.low beam headlights inoperable -10-03-11 cost = $56.30.i have also been pulled over twice for driving without a light because i did not know the lights were out.i have started the car at night to find out i had no lights. I have driven down a dangerous two lane highway not knowing my lights were out or knowing and having to drive with emergency blinkers on.my honda dealers have always refused to acknowledge that this is anything but "random"/"luck of the draw." this problem is not just with 2002-2004. It is also with 2005 at least, probably more based on complaints on the web. See http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/honda-cr-v/tlnd3jkaui93fs68.
The low-beam headlamps keep burning out prematurely.oem halogen headlamps lasted about 4-5 years before having to replace.now i am lucky to go 6 months without having to replace a headlamp, particularly on the passenger side.am using sylvania silverstar h1st replacements.no other electrical problems and see this same issue with other cr-v owners online with various bulb brands.please investigate.
Why has **2005** cr-v not been recalled for headlight / safety malfunction? driving in the dark, rain, or heavy (mn) snow all extremely unsafe. Have had 2005 passenger (right) side low-beam headlight replaced ~10 times in 18 months, driver side ~4 times. Passenger-side low-beam last replaced two weeks ago and is already out. Mechanic(s) find no cause. ***yes, i have seen that nhtsa dir ea11012 states, "analysis of complaint and honda data show that a complete low beam headlight circuit failure occurs in models with 2-bulb headlight systems (i.e., a single bulb on each side for high and low beam). Models with 2-bulb systems include my 2002-2004 cr-v...models with 4-bulb headlight systems (i.e., two bulbs on each side, one for high and one for low beam) have different electrical circuits for the headlights and do not experience the same failure mechanism as the 2-bulb system...honda introduced the 4-bulb headlight system in cr-v in my 2005.***whatever the mechanics of the problem--2-bulb or 4-bulb system--a simple search gives ample evidence that there is, in fact, a serious headlight and safety problem with the **2005** cr-v (emphasis added). It's a problem that's affecting a critical mass of drivers.
Both low beam front headlights had been working the previous night and during the day of the 17th (pa has a lot of work zones and requires headlights to be on).driving east on i-76 from pittsburgh to breezewood, beginning a little after 6:00 p.m. And not yet dark, front headlights were on and working.unclear when the lights went out, since there were lit parts of the road, and a lot of traffic, but by 7:45 it was clear the lights (both low beam lights) were out.the high beams worked, which i used intermittently, until i could get off the turnpike at midway service area.called for assistance around 8:40.vehicle was towed; mechanic 'fixed' by replacing the both front low beam light bulbs.both light bulbs had been replaced the previous year, separately, about a month apart.
The bulbs in my low-beam headlights continually burn out while in motion, usually on a rural highway. This is very dangerous when driving, especially on dark country roads. To give you an idea, i am having to replace the bulbs 3-4 times per year on each headlight. From a quick internet search, i can see this is a common problem for many, many honda crv owners. It looks like there was a recall for this issue for the 2002-2004 models (nhtsa campaign number: 12v136000) - will you please expand this recall to include the 2005? if both headlights go dark at the same time, it will probably cause an accident. With this happening so often on the 2005, the likelihood of an accident increases. Please help. (the latest date of 12/1/2020 when my light burned out is in the field below, but it has also happened several times this year.)
I purchased my 2005 honda crv used from an owner in may 2011. In the 2+ years i have owned it i have changed the regular headlight bulbs 3-4 times. I have never had to change the headlights so often in any other car i have owned. And, to top it off, just recently i've noticed the reverse lights are out now too! i urge honda to extend their headlight recall to the 2005 crvs as well, as it seems that this recalled electrical issue continues to later versions. I like this car, but i don't want it to nickel and dime me to frustration! the design of the car doesn't make it easy to change out those bulbs either (did it with gloves on and different types of bulbs)! every time i see a 2005 honda crv owner on the road i feel like waving them down just to see if they are having the same problems with their headlights as i am!
Low beam headlight lamps need to be replaced sevral times per year.
This is the second time in the past four months that my front driver side headlight has burnt out.this is one of many electrical issues with this vehicle (2005 cr-v) including the check engine light (o2 sensor) and rear passenger side brake light and several interior lights as well.there is an issue withthe electrical system of this car, but honda seems not to care and will not do anything about it.please help!
Headlight failed. I have replaced driver and passenger side headlight bulbs 5 times in the past year. Every couple months one or the other goes out. The most recent was 2 weeks ago.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. While driving 55 mph, the low beam headlights burned out without warning on the drivers side of the vehicle. The contact was pulled over by law enforcement regarding the issue. The vehicle was repaired, but the issue recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 166,520.
I've own this vehicle for about 4 years and it has been an ongoing issue ever since i own this vehicle.i constantly have to replace the low beam light bulbs on both driver and passenger side.they seem to go out while driving.it is very dangerous for me to drive with only one headlight (low beam) especially there is no street lights and also for oncoming drivers if i use the high beam to drive. There is a same problem for this model - years 2002 ' 2004 (nhtsa campaign number: 12v136000).please expand the recall to include model year 2005 as well before someone get injured.
My headlights on low beam went out completely. I was stopped by a policeman and informed to please get this taken care of. I informed the officer this just happened today which is friday dec 16 2011 @ approx 11:45 pm.
I have had to replace two driver's side low beam lamps and one passenger side low beam lamp in 45 days.this problem is well documented for 2002-2004 cr-vs, but nothing was done for 2005-2006 vehicles exhibiting the same issue.
Low beam headlight keep blowing after a few months have almost wrecked from low light when driving at night have also had both low beams blow when driving.creating a major problem.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. While the vehicle was parked the contact noticed the low beam headlights were not illuminating. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The technician stated the failure was within the headlight switch and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 12v136000 (exterior lighting:headlights:switch) that may be related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.
Headlights keeps needing to be replaced every 4 to 6 weeks since cr-v purchased new.honda shops states nothing wrong, they know water is in "well" where light bulb is housed when i go to change it. Have spent hundreds of dollars, on bulbs and fuses.now passenger side light totally will not work due to short from water damage.i have both go out at once while driving at night, talk about a real safety hazard.something has to be done.i have kept silent for too long.bubs usually blow with rain, or motion ( heavy).i notice after oil changes within a day or two it goes, even if i have just replaced it prior to the oil change.
Light bulbs fail frequently (anywhere from approximately 2-3 months) for no apparent reason. Usually one light at a time. Constantly replacing bulbs both interior or exterior.receive a ticket in ny state last week for a blown low beam headlight that had just been replaced last month. Last winter i replaced all fuses just in case, however, that has not stopped the problem. As stated by another owner - "this is a very well documented problem. And [obviously] a poor design issue. This is a [major] safety issue."crv is in the shop now getting a new air compressor ($2,500) - engine over heated due to the a/c unit in the passing lane on i-95 in washington, dc on monday.not very happy with honda right now.
Low beam headlamps continuously burn out. Each lamp burns out after four to five months. I have tried lamps costing from $10 to $25 each from two different manufacturers. No significant difference if operating life.
I had the drivers side low beam headlamp go out.there is a wire clip that holds the light bulb in. Replaced the light bulb.ever since then i have to replace the bulb about every 3 months.i tried to get a new wire clip in case the bulb was moving a little and causing the burning out.was told by the honda dealership that the clip doesn't exist anymore.no replacement part.i have read many blogs on line about people complaining about the bulbs burning out with very little resolution.called honda about problem and i have to send them something in writing so that they can check into it and get back to me.with so many people blogging about this problem. I would surely think that a recall should have been done.
While driving across country from arkansas to washington with my 22 year old son in his vehicle his headlights went out on very dark, curvy roads while he was driving. We were out in an area with no resources. We were able to use his high beams fortunately until we could get to a safe location. Since then the light bulbs fail frequently approximately 2-3 months for no apparent reason. Usually one light at a time, constantly replacing bulbs. This a very well documented problem. And [obviously] a poor design issue. This is a [major] safety issue and an ongoing problem.
The head light bulbs keep blowing out.google it.some have replace there's 20 times.we are on our 3rd or 4th and it's blown again.one person claims they got 3 tickets.another said both of their headlights went out while driving.no one knows why.they suggest electrical harness which we did have other problems previously where that came up but it's too expensive to fix.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that when driving during night hours, the low beam headlights failed after driving approximately 500 feet. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they advised him that the bulbs were not a problem and that the problem could have been caused by an electrical failure. The manufacturer was later contacted and they offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were approximately 65,200. The vin was unavailable.
I purchased my 2005 honda crv in august, 2005 and have had to replace both headlight bulbs at least twice a year.the driver's side headlight bulb has burned out more frequently than the passenger side.the honda dealerships do not think this is a problem and will not acknowledge any concern stating there have been no recalls initiated by honda addressing this problem.also, the lights that illuminate the temperature gauge, and the rpm indicator on the dashboard are burnt out completely, and the speedometer gauge is only partially illuminated, as well as the indicator dials/selectors that control the ac/heater fan speed, temperature, and position of the air to be distributed.honda dealerships claim that the dashboard lights are fuse related and the indicator/selector dials will have to be replaced completely to correct the problem.this problem occurred approximately four years ago.
I have replaced both the high beam and low beam bulbs a total of 17 times.this is a common problem with the honda cr-v's with no resolution.honda uses a unique connection at the bulb which i believe may be the culprit.
May 14, 2013 low beam driver's side failed.replaced bulb.june 5, 2013 driver's side low beam bulb failed.replaced bulb.june 15, driver's side low beam bulb failed.having home dealer check wiring.found this is a known problem for the 2005 cr-v. It's getting expensive - the air conditioner also failed while on vacation, a $3900 fix.honda needs to man up on this.
The low beam headlights on my 2005 vehicle repeatedly blow out bulbs leaving me with only one and potentially no low beam headlights.on both sides of the vehicle the life expectancy of the bulbs is no more than 4 months.they are unreliable and may cease working while on the road reducing my visibility in all types of weather conditions and at night.this problem seems to be the same as the one for the recall of 2002-2004 cr-vs and has been reported by numerous owners.i contacted honda's customer service and was told that the vin of my vehicle was not covered and unless the vin was part of the recall, they would not honor correcting the problem.(case # 06225907)request investigation to have 2005 cr-vs added to the recall.
Drivers side headlight low beam went out while driving.bought replacementbulb and put in but low beam still didn't work.
I wrote about my headlight going out twice in the last 3 weeks, well just not as i left to get some groceries, my driver side headlight went out again.don't understand why nhtsa and honda are not doing anything to fix what is clearly manufacturers defect.
On numerous occasions head light (s) fails.internet research suggest that this is a common problem on all 2005 honda crv's.the terminals corrode, arc and lose contact.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the low beam headlight bulb would blow prematurely and continuously. The low beam headlight bulb was replaced several times but the failure continuously recurred. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 79,000 and the current mileage was 112,000.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the driver side headlight and both side beam lights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 88,000 and the current mileage is 150,000.updated 11/29/11the consumer stated the vehicle was fixed by the dealer at a cost of $98. Updated 12/07/11
Every year or so i have to replace a low beam headlight bulb. Five bulbs have gone out on the drivers side and two bulbs on the passenger side. I have always replaced the bulbs with latex gloves on as to not put hand oil on the bulbs. I have not taken it to the a honda dealership.
Headlights (halogen) burn out within months of install, repeatedly.
I am experiencing the exact same problem of headlight shorting out as your new recall for 2002 - 2004 owners. My car is 2005 ut not covered under this recall. Why???
Headlights go out intermittently. I thought they were going out and kept replacing bulbs, but now realize they will come back on. I see many many posts from others with this same model/year complaining about this! there was a recall on the 2004, needs to be extended to 2005!
My low beamheadlights stop working every 3 months, i have replaced the bulbs each time but they still only last 3 months. There are numerous other complaints similar to mine for the 2005 crv but neither your agency or honda has done anything about it. Apparently crv models from 2002-2004 have the same problem and have a recall for it . Why not 2005 crvs.
My low beam bulbs keep blowing out.usually one then the other a few weeks later.just last week both blew out at the same time after i heard a sudden pop when i turned them on.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 75-80 mph, the passenger side low beam headlight became inoperable. The contact stated that the passenger side headlamp was replaced on several occasions. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.
I have replaced the low beam headlight bulbs in my 2005 honda crv 4 times in the last year. I was cautious with the lights during instillation making sure to do everything right. Finally, decided to bring up the issue as my wife was driving the car in the road last night when the passenger side went out. It decreased her visibility on a country highway causing her to have to slow down a little to make sure she could see. It made the conditions unsafe and it also brings up the possibility of receiving a traffic ticket due to the light being out. Luckily, she made it home with no issues. However, the next day, she turned on the car and the driver and passenger side headlights were out. The lights have been continually going out no matter the driving situation. Based on my internet searching, others seem to have the same problem and i noticed honda has a recall for 2002-2004 headlight issues but i believe the recall needs to be offered to the later models as well. I believe it to be an issue with the electrical wiring and not the headlights that i keep having to constantly buy. Please help with addressing the issue to honda.
The running lights & low beam lights fail repeatedly. Running, standing or start up; it doesn't matter. The bulbs burn out. Both lights use the same halogen bulb. This is the same problem covered in your honda cr-v recall # 12v13600 (honda # s34) affecting the 2002,'03 and 2004 model years. Model years 2005 and possibly beyond should have been included.
The halogen bulbs in my headlights frequently burn out.they always have, but i didn't know so many other owners were dealing with the same issue.this is dangerous.i just learned that honda issued a recall for this very same problem for years 2002-2004.there are numerous complaints for this same issue on record for 2005.honda needs to include the 2005 model for this recall and correct this defect.why aren't they responding to this issue?
I purchased my 2005 honda crv new and really like the car.since about 2008, the headlights have to constantly be replaced!at first, it was every few months but now, it's every 6-8 weeks!i have asked the dealer about recalls and although there are recalls for some 2005 vehicles, my car is not part of the recall.in order to submit a complaint with honda, i have to have them diagnose the problem, which will cost a few hundred dollars.the labor cost to access the headlights is extensive, according to my dealer.i am frustrated that other cars with this problem are able to be repaired as part of a recall but mine isn't.at what point will honda think that maybe my car should be included in the recall?
Every few months the driver side headlight goes out. I have owned the vehicle since 2011, and it has been an ongoing issue the entire time. It does not matter if headlights are used continuously or for just an hour a day on the highway and interstate, have had multiple warnings from area police. Same thing happens that the driver side bulb blows. Passenger side has only needed replaced a few times since i have owned the vehicle. Why isn't this issue on a recall like the 2002-2004 models, they had the same issue but with a recall..
I brought my honda crv in sept. 2005. It worked fine. But since 2008 summer, i often be pulled off by police because the left front light is off. I first thought it was simple, just go to local gas station to change a light bulb. After i changedthe left front light 3 times, in feb 2011 i was pulled off by police again, i realized there is something wrong. I went to honda, they said it was something computer related wrong. Just for fix this i paid more than $200. And 1 week after, my friend told me my right side front light was off. I had to change it again. Wondering does every crv owner has change his or her front light bulbs as often as me.this is very dangerous! as a driver sometimes you can not know your front light bulb is off right away.
Have replaced low-beam headlights at least 8 times in two years.both driver and passenger side.have used sylvania, osram and wagner h1 bulbs.bulbs last one to 6 months.not a water problem.no sign of water in housings.other bulbs also have shorter life than expected.also had to replace dome light, running lights and tail lights during the same period.obviously an electrical problem.definitely a safety issue.annoying and expensive.headlights are easy to change but tail lights and running lights are not easy to change.you can find numerous complaints about this problem on the internet but there are no honda recalls to address this issue.i have had other honda, toyota, ford and gm vehicles where the headlights last indefinitely.eight blown bulbs in two years is a design defect.
Have lost power to both low beam lights consecutively and randomly every monthover the past year of ownership of this vehicle have replaced headlights multiple times and lost low beams especially on drivers side during commute at night on the freeway.
3 times in the last 8 months i have replaced the passenger side low beam light. It will work then go to a low light. Now, replacements just leaves the dim version of a headlight beam on. The recall skips the 2005 honda crv and it should be included as they have included later year models of other honda vehicles. I can not drive at night due to no visibility on my low beam headlights.
I own a 2006honda crv. I've replaced the headlights at least 6 times since i've purchased the car.in november 2009, i replaced the headlights and guess what-- today the driver side headlight is out!unbelievable. Service dept. Tells me i must be getting faulty bulbs, but i noticed on the old bulb that the metal looks like its been hot.
I have replaced several low-beam headlight bulbs over the past 5 years (less than 60k miles). Thought it was poor quality bulbs but this time both new bulbs (1- month old) went out while driving on highway. Could have been a disaster luckily high beams worked.reading several complaints and recalls, it doesn't seem to be a bulb issue but rather a necessity for a wiring switch/harness recall.previous years had the recall and it looks like the recall needs to expand in model years
2005 cr-v: the low beams burn out constantly at an accelerated rate.the two bulbs burn out virtually back-to-back within 10 days of each other.i have been forced to drive with only my brights.i have had several occurrences of this in 150,000 miles of driving...once on vacation, no less.i have spoken to two other owners of same model with same complaint.for the record, i owned a 2002 cr-v where i rarely replaced any bulbs in 200,000 miles!this is unacceptable and creates a potentially dangerous situation.obviously, something is wrong with the design - perhaps the designed voltage is greater than the bulbs can accept resulting in frequent bulb failure far above (what i believe) a statistical analysis would deem within an acceptable margin.please investigate! the consumer no longer owns the vehicle put continuously receives recall notices. The manufacturerwas notified.
About every month we have had to replace the front low beamheadlights on either the drivers side or passenger side. We have replace the entire headlight assm anduse surgical gloves to put in the bulbs. They blow on the road and nobody can explain why and it is dangerous.it started awhile ago.
Headlightsfor the last 8 years my low beam headlights continue to go out.i have to replace the bulbs once or twice pr year.
Have to replace headlights approx every 3 months. Have replaced driver's side 6 times, passenger side 4 time. Both went out at same time while driving at night on 10/14/11.
The contact owns a 2005 honda crv. The contact stated that the low beam driver's side headlight failed. The contact replaced the light bulb but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Was driving the vehicle at night and both low beam head lights went out and remained out. Had to stop to prevent crash. Driver could not see. Very dangerous! high beams working but did not realize until later. Read that this is a problem with many hondas and a tsb issued for other models, but not this one. This model and year needs a tsb as well. Read that others with this model and year have had same problem but there is no tsb for it.
I have had to put a new low beam bulb in right headlight about every 4 months since purchase. Few days ago tried 2 new bulbs - only get tiny amount of light with both. Big safety issue.
While my 16-year old daughter was driving after dark around 9:30pm, both low beam headlights failed at the same time.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the driver's side low beam headlight became inoperative. The failure had recurred several times and sometimes included the passenger side headlight as well. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis, but they offered no assistance. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to nhtsa. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 122,896.
Low beam headlights, both driver & passenger, continue to go out despite changing bulbs three times now.the bright lights continue to work. They have gone out as we were driving and in the driveway after starting the car.
Keep replacing headlights for the last three years every 3 to 6 months! it is amazing how many people are having the same issues and honda does not admit there is an electrical issue with 2005 honda c-rv. Now the passenger headlight will not work at all.taking it to the dealership to see what they say and if i don't like there answer i will go elsewhere! possible lawsuit!
Low beams stopped working while parked thankfully. I replaced the headlight switch, thinking that it was causing the issue, and noticed that a terminal in the connector was burnt so bad that it carried other terminals, causing the high beams to stop working as well. According to my research, this has happened to many other cars of the same model and is a huge safety hazard.
Led lights on dashboard stopped working.i can no longer see my speedometer at night, or the mileage gauge.i raised this to attention of honda dealership/repair and they offered to repair at my expense--approximately $100. This shouldn't have happened.also, as others have reported, one of my headlights has repeatedly burned out since purchase--i've replaced it twice.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated the driver's side headlight stopped illuminating intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician stated the headlight assembly had to be replaced. After the vehicle was repaired the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
This is the 5th low beam replacement i have had to make since owning my car.once again, this is a common problem in cr-vs that honda has refused to acknowledge.
The headlights go out every few months and i have to replace the bulbs. This has been happening since i bought the vehicle. They must be faulty headlights.
Was driving on highway at 55 mph at night and the headlights dimmed and the dashboard lights started to blink and then both low beam headlights went out. We had to drive 6 miles home with only high beams working. Had head lights and battery replaced and worked until dec, 14,2014. Again driving at night at 55 mph on highway thelights dimmed, dashboard lights started blinking and then both low beams went out. Again had to drive home with high beams only. After having the low beams replaced the first time all gauges failed-gas gauge, odometer and speedometer. After turning the car off and restarting all gauges started working again. This could be very dangerous for me when headlights blow and for other cars on the road as i need to drive with high beams on. From what i have read honda has recalls on other years of the crv for the same issue but not on 2005.
Why has the 2005 not been recalled for exterior lighting. The bulbs frequently needed replaced and then the went out for good. We can use the fog lights and the high beams but not the low beam head lights. We've changed fuses and bulbs with not result. Please add this to the recall.
This year i have replaced my driver right side headlight bulb 3 times it goes out for no particular reason. Clearly this is a manufacturer defect which honda should issue a recall.
The driver side headlight went out for the third time in 12 months.these vehicles need to be recalled and fixed, as the 2004 model was recalled but the 2005 models seem to have the same issue.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v.every four months or approximately 6,000 miles, both front headlights fail.the vehicle was taken to the dealer when they failure first occurred, and they stated that it was completely normal.the contact believed that it was a defect and has replaced the lights at least five times.the failure mileage was 6,000 and current mileage was 55,000.update 04-02-08
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while turning the vehicle on the front left headlight burned out. The headlight malfunctioned four times and the contact had to change the light bulb consistently. The failure was diagnosed and the dealer could not determine what caused the light bulbs to burn out. The headlight was repaired by replacing a newbulb whenever the failure occurred. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 89,000.
Since my wife purchased her 2005 honda cr-v, her headlamps (mostly the driver's side) continues to go out. It happens every 3-4 weeks. It's been doing this for over a year. Honda says it's not their problem.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated the low beam headlights failed to illuminate. The low beam bulb was replaced five times. The failure was not corrected. The dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in their headlight recall. The vin information was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin could not be verified. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 110,000.
This is a [major] safety issue."crv is in the shop now getting a new air compressor ($2,500) - engine over heated due to the a/c unit in the passing lane on i-95 in washington, dc on monday.not very happy with honda right now.
The position of the turn signal at the top of the honda cr-v and the clear lens has resulted in me being hit 3 times in the rear in the 1 1/2 years i have owned this vehicle.the last incident, the person who hit me insisted that i did not have my turn signal on even when he stood behind the vehicle and looked at it -- it was only when pedestrians told him that the signal was on did he finally realize that he just had a hard time seeing it.the first incident the woman said she didn't see the turn signal.in all 3 cases, the accidents occurred on a sunny day.i am constantly being sworn at and yelled at to turn on my turn signal and i get out and look and it is indeed on.the position of the signal at the very top of the vehicle is higher than any other vehicle on the road -- not in a position that people routinely look for a turn signal.in addition, the clear lens make it very difficult to see the turn signalon sunny days-- i have purposely driven behind 2005 cr-vs (the only year that honda had clear lens on the turn signals) and can understand why people have a problem seeing the signal.i called honda and expressed my concern about my safety in this car because the position of the turn signal so high on the car and the clear lens -- i was told that it was the design of the cr-v and they got approval for the design so they were not going to do anything to improve the safety.i asked them why the clear lens were used for only 2005 thinking that other had problems with the clear lens so they switched back to the yellow lens in 2006 but they denied this.they even refused to switch out the clear lens for the yellow lens that they have used for every other year of this vehicle.i wish someone would look into this by driving behind 2005 cr-vs on sunny days and checking out the turn signals.
I was driving my 2005 honda crv on the freeway when the engine suddenly began to race and the car began to accelerate rapidly. I couldn't feel the gas pedal with my foot. I was able to put the car in neutral, pull off on the shoulder, and turn off the ignition, stopping the engine. I moved the driver's seat backward, got down on the floor to look, and discovered that the factory-equipped floor mat had shifted so it covered the gas pedal. I removed the floor mat, re-started the car, and the problem was gone. But if this problem starts cropping up with other '05 crvs, it is an accident waiting to happen.
Thank you.
Honda cr-v, 8,000 miles, year 2005, engine stalled , loss of power steering andbrakes, restarted ok, dealer checked out car and could not find problem.occurred in city driving at 25 miles per hour.
The door locks failed to lock unless a key was used which would only work on the front doors. The key would no longer unlock the doors unless it was manually. The rear back door would not lock under any circumstances. This jeopardized the safety of my car, and myself. I went to apple tree honda where i purchased the car. They did not let me know that this had been a recurrent problem on other cars. They charged me $587.50 to replace all the locks.
The lock actuator in both my driver's side door and the rear driver's side door went out.i spent well over $500 in repairs.it affected all my doors.they could not be locked/unlocked with the keyless entry nor with the power locks button inside my car.my doors had to be manually locked and unlocked.this seems to be a very common problem in the cr-v.the honda dealership admitted to me that this happens frequently, but corporate has yet to issue a recall.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. While parked, the contact attempted to unlock the vehicle doors and only the rear passenger side door would unlock. The failure recurred intermittently and the contact would have to enter the vehicle through the driver, passenger or the rear trunk door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician advised that the remote key needed to be reset.the key was reset. In addition, the vehicle was taken to the dealer one year later for diagnostic testing where the technician advised that the front and back actuator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in any recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 95,000.
The electronic door opener locked the car even when keyes in ignition.i was locked out of the car twice with the keyes in the ignition, and on several occasions i was unable to open driver side door, and had to exit vehicle from passenger door.dealer replaced locking mechanism.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the front and rear passenger, and the rear driver's side door locks failed when engaged with the automatic key fob. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the door attenuator needed to be replaced for the affected doors. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 137,000.
Vehicle is a 2005 honda crv.the upper rear hinge on the trunk (outside the vehicle) rusted completely off and the door fell off the upper hinge, and damaged the lower hinge as well from the weight.it fell onto my upper leg severely bruising it, and i had to muscle the door back on until it could be repaired.according to american honda and my casen012010-03-3101277 (gene) rust is only covered for 3 years.i am astounded that they feel this kind of thing is ok to have happen and that they are unwilling to help resolve this claim.the vehicle is designed so that this hinge is always going to be exposed to the elements - they should know that it is at risk for rust based on exposure.i'm lucky it didn't fall off an injure anyone or fall off while i was driving/
The clip holding my floor mat in place broke causing my mat to ride up over the gas pedal.this caused the brake pedal to accelerate. The vehicle was involved in a car accident due to this clip breaking.
I am the owner of a 1996 honda accord and 20005 honda crv. The problem that ihave experience with both vehicles which was purchased new is that the power locks clicks up and down from time to time, even after locking the doors. I believe this isa common problem with honda vehicles, but may be i am the first to mention it. However, with the doors locks, it puts your safety and security at risk and there should be an investigation of this matter. I have been experiencing this problem with each vehicle after about three years of ownership or after the warranty expires.
The driver side power lock cannot be locked or unlocked on the driver side with my key button.i have to manually lock and unlock the driver side door with my key.the rest of the locks work fine with the key button.
The indicator light on the instrument panel indicates the rear hatch is open.the light blinks intermittently even though the glass hatch and the rear cargo door are closed.at times the faulty sensor indicates the door is not closed not allowing remote door lock.my local honda dealer has repeatedly tried (and failed) to fix this problem.
Approximately 3 months after purchasing my vehicle, i started noticing that the light identifying the back hatch as being open was flashing on when i was driving over speed bumps, around corners, etc.i took it in to the dealer and they replaced the sensor switch.a few months after that, the light just started to come on and stay on.again the dealer adjusted and replaced the switch.it came on again within one week and the dealer put double stick tape on the sensor to fix it.within a week, the light came on again.this time, the dealer drilled a new hole and relocated the sensor approx. 1/2 inch inside the door of the vehicle.when the light is on, the back dome light flashes on as well.this is extremely distracting at night.additionally, when the light is on, the automatic locks cannot be engaged by using the switch and the vehicle cannot be locked with the remote, the key must be used.however, you cannot lock the back hatch and the alarm doesn't function at all when the sensor is activated.the dealer has told me that they have seen several vehicles with this same problem and that honda has not yet figured out a way to permanently fix the problem.so far, my hatch light is functioning normally again, but it has only been 2 weeks since the last fix.
The rear interior well cover is a pull out 17lb plastic table.it has a'd' ring latch that is held to the table with 6 screws.when you pull up on the 'd' ring latch you get a handle to pull the table up and out. When pulling up on the 'd' ring it pulls a plunger out of a slot is the back of the bulkhead of the frame giving you the appearance that the table is locked down. The problem is that there are nothing else holding the table down on the other three sides.it appears that the side opposite the latch should have a slot or maybe two straps across the rear corners for the table to slide into.appears honda overlooked this since they made the lifting 'd' ring also a latch.as designed however the cover is not latched down. Just hope no one turns the cr-vover and after the air bag saves them have a17 lb table cut their head off.
For approximately 5 years, my honda cr-v has experienced a shudder in the vehicle when the speed is in between gears. This shuddering recurs between 2nd and 3rd gear, 4th and 5th gear. I have reported it to the honda dealer where my vehicle was purchased numerous times over the course of the past 5 years. The answer i was always given was "cannot duplicate problem". I was never asked to go for a test ride with a mechanic nor was i asked to describe the problem in detail. I was brushed off. When i moved, i took my vehicle, now over 100k miles, to a specialty service mechanic. He quickly took a test drive with me and was able to recreate the shudder within 5 minutes. He knew exactly what was wrong and advised me to contact honda. I feel that this problem is a safety issue, as at higher speeds when the vehicle shudders, it is difficult to maintain control of the steering wheel.
My complaint is with the rear differential.i have had to replace the fluid several times since i have had it, due to low fluid.i now have a "case halve" in the rear differential is leaking.a very costly expense.i have researched this problem online and it seems that a majority of cr-v owners are having the same problem.
The transmission blew with no warning whatsoever, driving at highway speed the forward motion suddenly cut out.luckily we had enough momentum to get to the side of the highway or 4 people would be dead.the car had just had a trip inspection within 10 days, all systems go, and we took the car shopping in the morning with no indication whatsoever by performance, noise, etc there was anything wrong at all.the transmission failure was total and sudden.honda denies any issues with this car, which, if i lived in a different state, would be a lemon.its headlights constantly go out, and it and its twin, a 2006 crv, both had broken ac around 90000 miles.the estimate for repair is $4300.this piece of junk metal is now the most expensive car i have ever owned in terms of owner cost.
I purchased a new 2015 honda crv exl. Picked it up on evening of 2/18/15. I drove it back and forth to work, approx. 30 miles round trip the next two days. I noticed vibration and felt something wasn't right. The car sat in my driveway the weekend due to bad weather. I drove to work monday and tuesday and the vibration was terrible. I drive in very slow moving traffic. While accelerating, it feels like a bumpy ride on uneven roadway. This makes me feel very unsafe! especially while going around curves. While stopped atred lights, the steering wheel and seats vibrate. Exactly one week from picking up my vehicle, i'm back at the dealership with the service manager driving my car and experiencing my concerns. I brought the car back in again for the service manager to capture the vibration on video to be sent to honda. I contacted honda of america and now have a case manager. Please do something to help all of us who have been ripped off by honda and they are still selling these defective cars!
I own 2006 honda crv. My complaint is about rear differential fluid. The owner's manual states that rear differential fluid needs to be changed every 60,000-90,000 miles. First time had to replace it at 19000 miles because of the noise when the wheels were turned right/left at low speeds. The same problem resurfaced at 53000 miles again. The dealership pushes a $250 dollar procedure (rear differential change 2 times and burnishing the clutches) to fix the problem as the vehicle is not under the warranty anymore. The dealer also recommends changing the rear differential every 15000 miles. Honda misled its customers with its low maintannace schedule.
I bought the car in august 2004. After a few months drove it to the mountain, put the snow chain and the car couldn't go more than 10mph, instead it make a loud roaring noise. Took to dealer but couldn't duplicate the problem. Call direct to honda they said they couldn't do anything since the dealer didn't find any problems. Since than we drive another car whenever we went to the snow.last weekend we went to palm springs aerial tram and the car make a loud noise that sound like it came from somewhere in the drivetrain parts. I thing this must have related to the same problem wen i went to the snow. I call a friend that has an independent car repair shop and told him what had happened. He advised me to call honda because the car is defective since it was new. I called honda and they said to bring to a different dealer than the one that i went on the first incident. I went to a dealer and again couldn't duplicate the problem, paid $220 for diagnostic and they said the problem has nothing to do with any parts of the drivetrain, i checked on the website and found alot of people have similar problem posted on the crv forum /blog.i wonder if nhtsa can help us to complain to honda for related problem and have them repair the car free of charge since it was defective.
My 2005 front wheel drive crv has a rumbling in the front and alsoseems toslip when acellerating.many other seem to have this complaint withhonda crvs and mine is a 2005 non awd.this is terrible as everytime we go out now we dont know if the car will get us to our destination and my husband and myself are both disabled.we purcheased this crvas to the good reputation honda had and now we are stuck with this problem that honda refuses to help with.
This is a problem in the rear differential system in honda crv 4-wheel drive model made between 2002 and 2007.after about every one and a half years, the differential fluid becomes so much contaminated that the whole vehicle starts to shake.according to the vehicle's owner manual, the differential fluid only needs to be changed every 5 years or 90,000 miles.obviously the differential fluid becomes dirty too soon.when this happens, it is difficult to make a turn.i consider it unsafe.as i know, it is the problem to all vehicles of the same model not only my car.so i think it is a design problem.in my case, the rear differential system had to be reflushed three times and the rear differential clutches had to be burnish as well.luckily, no injury so far.
Honda crv 2005 ex model started lately (2010 late) to have rear differential noise, especially when making big turns at very low speed (starting from stop).this is the design problem.
There was a groan coming from the rear differential when making a sharp turn or tight turn at low speed. The mileage was 18769 miles. The cause was attributed to contamination of the fluid in the rear differential.the fluid was drained and therear differential clutches were burnished.however, the drained fluid was clean. The fluid was again replaced. This should not happen to a car with this low mileage. This sounds like the wrong fluid was installed at the time of manufacture. I will seek compensation from honda.
Three years from date of purchase, at 28486 miles, my honda crv was taken to the dealer for service.i mentioned noise when making turns if the car was cold.the dealer said the car needed the differential fluid replaced and the differential clutches burnished, (as per bulletin).my maintenance manual recommends this at 5 years or 90,000 miles.i read that other drivers have had the same problem.i was not charged, because the car had 5 days left on the initial warranty.i assume this is some kind of manufacturing defect.
2005 honda cr-v makes a "roaring" noise when between 1500 and 2000 rpms.this occurs every time.dealer has replaced the exhaust system and the center bearing of the drive shaft.the problem continues.
2005 honda cr-v vehicle accelerated*cwthe consumer stated she parked in a parking space. With her foot on the brake, she placed the gear into park, removed her foot from the brake and suddenly, the vehicle accelerated into a building. When the vehicle finally stopped after hitting the wall, she went to shut it off and the gear was still in park.

Chatter in differential when turning tightly at low speed.
2005 honda crvvin # [xxx] pulls to right, excessive torque steer. 5 service reportsout of aligment. Struts relocated in front end. Updated 07/17/2012 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
2005 honda cr-v.consumer states repeated and troublesome torque converter lockup.*tgwrecently, while turning on an icy road, the vehicle lost traction during another lockup.
When driving at a low rate of speed or making turns, the 2005 honda crv would grind or chatter due to either incorrect fluid or incorrect clutch clearance. Bulletin exists for newer models with no service charges for this service.
When driving at a low rate of speed when making turns, the 2005 honda crv grinds or chatters due to a problem with the rear differential (according to the dealer here in blacksburg,va). I was told a service bulletin exists for this problem but have been unable to find it. I was told it would cost $150 to fix. My vehicle has 40,000m on it.
At 17,000 miles on my 2005 honda cr-v i noticed noise when i made sharp turns to the right or left.the dealer could not diagnose. Any problem.he thought it was from turning on the painted stripes on asphalt parking lots!!!!!!!!!at 17,684 miles the noise sounded like broken dishes rattling in the rear of the car.i looked online and found similar descriptions on websites related to honda cr-v issues. I took it back to the dealer.dealer finally diagnosed rear differential problem.they performed rear diff. Service, burnished clutches in rear diff and drained and refilled fluid.problem solved!the car was under warranty, so no charge.why don't dealers know more about this problem?
Own a 2005 cr-v ex awd. I to have experienced the cr-v rear differential contamination problem. Howling noise while turning became evident from the back end during the winter of 07-08 and approximately 25000 miles. Dealer determined the differential fluid was contaminated and flushed/replaced the fluid and performed a clutch burnishing procedure...fortunately under a goodwill warranty per a tsb. No problems since but based on other complaints i fear it's just a matter of time. Rear differential contamination appears to be a real problem with this cr-v version (02-08) which honda really needs to address.
This new 05' honda cr-v ex has had numerous problems with no resolve from the dealer.it has a continued problem of pulling to the right as well as vibration at higher speeds.also, the passenger side cv boot has been repaired twice as well as the transaxle.the vehicle came new with these problems.the dealer has tried diligently to fix the pttr problem with new tires, axle, rotation, alignment, wheels from other 05' cr-v's.but, they have said the vibration is within manufacture's specs!!!!i have spent more time with my car at the dealer since i bought this car in dececmber of 2004 and it is now april 2005!the vibration comes about throughout the cab, especially through the steering wheel at around 50-70 mph.i'm very upset that i pay good money for a car that brings me grief each and every time i drive the car on the hi-way.around town it's fine.this car is not right, and has never been right from the factory.this ib the worst honda purchase i have had after owning 5 other honda's!

The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v.upon starting the vehicle she noticed a red light illuminating on the dashboard.while having the vehicle serviced for routine maintenance by an independent mechanic she was informed that the seat belt sensor failed and the air bags would not deploy in the event of a crash.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 77,989 and the current mileage was 102,000.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. While driving, the srs indicator for the seat belt illuminated and the seat belt had a lot of slack. Sussex honda (57 hampton house rd, newton, nj 07860, (855) 860-7860) performed an unknown recall repair regarding the air bags. The contact had an independent mechanic speak to the manufacturer to confirm that the vehicle was not included in a recall. When he tried to order a part, the manufacturer stated that it could be a year before the part arrives. The contact was informed that the cr-v was the only model in 2005 not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 120,000.
I had the driver's air bag replaced under recall. Received recall notice on passenger air bag and had it replace.after that recall, the srs warning light came on and won't go off. Had honda dealer check it and was told that it's the driver's side sensor in the seat belt clip.cost would be over $800.00 to fix. If srs light is on air bag won't deploy. This is a safety issue and should have a recall on it since the srs light was not causing a problem until the passenger air bag was replaced.car has about 82,000 miles on it.
Airbag light comes on intermittently. Told by honda dealer that this is due to seatbelt part that is faulty on the driver's side. Is this part of a recall? i bought the car in 2017 and i am not sure what recalls have been missed.
2015 driver airbag recall, 2017 passanger airbag recall. Two daysbefore bag rrplaced the srs light stayed on. Honda service said it was unrelated and the cpuld not turn it off and i would have to come back to diagnosis and it may cost thousands
Both driver and passenger seats did not restraint occupants in a three car accident. Crv hit from behind.crv hit car ahead. Driver chest hit steering wheel.passenger hit window and dash. Relatively low speed accident.air bags did not deploy. Seats belts ended up extended and stuck in this position.seat belts will now not retract.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v.the contact stated that the back seat needs a lap shoulder/combination belt in the middle of the seat.she stated that both belts need to be in the vehiclein order to install the booster seat safely and correctly.there had been no failure to date.the current mileage was 28,074.updated 09/18/07
Thank you.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. While driving at approximately 20 mph, the vehicle veered independently to the right. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taking to an independent mechanic, and the torque steer needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Also, while braking, the driver side rear brake failed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the anti lock braking system module was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. While pulling out of the garage at 5 mph and making a left turn, the contact depressed the brake pedal to the floorboard. The brakes failed to stop the vehicle and it crashed into the woods. There were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the calipers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000. The vin was not available.
This vehicle on has 66,580 mile and the abs modulator went bas on rear passenger side. Notice brake was not working and took to shop.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the contact attempted to decelerate but the vehicle erroneously accelerated. The vehicle was shifted into park and the engine continued to rev. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 44,793.
The brake rotor on my honda crv 2005 is defective. It looks like steel is not carbonated evenly and there a some pieces that do not wear off. Those peaces are beating on the break pads and are the reason for a safety concern. I took car to honda, but was given some absurd diagnoses, i.e.rear disks have rust marks on them, due to low mileage. Fyi: my car has 16,000 miles on it.i spoke with the management, but they refused to take a closer look at it. I have a picture of the defect for your review. You can view them by clicking on the following 4 links.http://picasaweb.google.com/vovkakenator/honda_dispute/photo?authkey=dwbejzeinik#s5118647922556598322http://picasaweb.google.com/vovkakenator/honda_dispute/photo?authkey=dwbejzeinik#s5118647952621369442http://picasaweb.google.com/vovkakenator/honda_dispute/photo?authkey=dwbejzeinik#s5118647939736467538http://picasaweb.google.com/vovkakenator/honda_dispute/photo?authkey=dwbejzeinik#s5118647931146532930. Complete brake failure twice-- pedal to floor.problem not identified because dealer could not duplicate failure.car not repaired and still dangerous.
Abs problem - sacred to drive when it snowsi have a 2006 honda crv and honda accord. The problem is more prominent on the crv. Whenthere is snow on the road, abs kicks inand the car does not stop when braking, even when the speed is only 10mph.this happens more if coming down a gradient. The gradient can be very little.this really scares me as i cannot do anything to prevent it.i never had such a problem with my 16 year old honda civic, which didn't have an abs system..i do agree, that the owners manual says about this.but i don't understand, why the abs hasto come online even at very low speeds.abs in effect only increases accidents.we werevery lucky so far, that we never had a crash, but were very close to make an accident.
The contact owns a 2005 honda crv. The contact stated while driving at any speed and attempting to brake, the rear brake would lock, causing the calipers and rotors to overheat. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who performed a diagnostic that was unable to locate the exact cause for the brake failure.the local mechanic replaced the rotors and brake pads several times but the failure was not corrected. The rear brake continued to lock when the brakes were applied. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.
I purchased new a honda crv in june, 2005.on august 15, 2007 with 24,064 miles the rear brakes and rotors had to be replaced at a cost of $275.54 which being under warranty honda paid for.on february 16, 2009 with 39,477 miles again the rear brakes and rotors had to be replaced at a cost of $342.12 which the dealership paid for as they knew i was very upset.i have called honda customer service about this each time and all they do is note it on my record.i feel that there has to be a problem somewhere that they aren't acknowledging or don't care to.granted i have had no out of pocket expenses but don't feel this should be happening.i feel honda's engineers need to look at this and if necessary change the whole system so i'm not changing rear brakes and rotors every 15,000 to 20,000 miles.i know of several other people who have the same vehicle and have had the same problem.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v.while driving 30 mph, the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was depressed.the vehicle stopped approximately 1 to 2 car lengths away from the original braking point.the failure has occurred four times.the vehicle was taken to a dealer three times, but they could not duplicate the failure.as of july 24, 2007, the failure still persists.the current mileage was 36,332 and failure mileage was 10.
On several occasions, my abs and vsa light would come on and you would hear the brake making rattling noise.then the light would shut off and it would be good for a couple of days or a few hours.the lights came on for the last time and stayed on.also the brake went all though way to the floor and it felt like the steering wasn't controllable.the car went to the dealership ct and they found out that it needed a new yaw sensor.since i have had it back fixed it has not happened since.i suggest that anyone who has these issues call your dealership and have them run the computer diag. Test on the car.the service manager at the ct dealership said that some of the earlier '05's needed new modulars, to fix this problem...
I purchased a 2005 honda cr-v in march of 2005 after doing extensive vehicle research, visiting two (2) dealerships and test driving two (2) cr-vs.after having the opportunity to drive the vehicle for a couple hundred miles, i noticed a constant pull to the right (pttr) at all speeds and rates of acceleration.during my initial research on the cr-v, as well as post-purchase visits to vehicle forum websites, i realized that the vehicle was experiencing torque steer.the pttr is only present when the accelerator is engaged manually or via cruise control.there is no pttr while the vehicle is coasting.the disappointing thing about this condition is that - during purchase and price negotiations - i asked the sales person and sales manager about cr-v torque steer issues directly.their response to me, quite simply, was that they were not familiar with any such condition.however, post sales follow-up by the honda dealer's service manager indicated that there was familiarity with reports of torque steer resulting from the new v-tech engines.the service manager was understanding of my frustration, made note of it for review at the vehicles first maintenance.this condition, although not dangerous in my vehicle, detracts significantly from the driving experience, should not be present and should be remedied by honda immediately.
Since my wife and i purchased a 2005 crv ex 3 weeks ago it has spent more time at the dealers then with us. The first problem was a vibration in the steering wheel and a pull to the right. Brought the vehicle in for service and the dealer stated the wheels were out of balance. Picked the vehicle up and it continued to do the same. The vehicle went in a second time and the dealer stated that their balancing machine was incorrectly calibrated; then changed one tire. The dealer stated that the car meets honda "specs". Picked up the vehicle and it continued to do the same. Brought the vehicle in a third time. The dealer stated that the manufacturer, america honda, placed the struts on incorrectly and fixed it. Picked the vehicle up and it no longer pulled to the right , however the vibration in the steering was still there. Brought the vehicle in a fourth time , went for a test drive with a technician and he stated that there was a problem with a vibration at 45 , 50 and between 60-70 mph. The dealer then test drove 3 other cr-v's from the lot then stated that they were as bad or worst then mine. The head supervisor contacted america honda and gave them the details. Their reply " since all the vehicles do that it must be a characteristic of the vehicle." the dealer admitted that there was a problem but since america honda did not reconize it they would not fix it. I am in the process of making a claim under the florida lemon law. America honda needs to be accountable for the defective product they are producing.
I have a honda cr-v ex purchased 4/14/2005. It has pulled hard to the right, especially during acceleration, since the first day. I have taken it back to the dealership four times to have the problem corrected and they have failed to do so. The most recent time was at the request of american honda motor after i recently wrote the company a letter demanding that the car be made to comply with warrant, or that i be given another vehicle that does, or that the company buy back the vehicle. During normal driving there is a constant pull to the right. On a flat asphalt surface (no tilt or crowning) when i push the accelerator to the floor from a stop the vehicle moves to a 45-degree angle and halfway into the next lane in the right after just 20 feet. Once when my wife accelerated from a stop light for a right turn, the strong pull caused her to hit the curb.
I purchased a 2005 honda crv vehicle because i thought that it would be safe.i have been disappointed in the vehicle because when i go to stop or take off the vehicle pulls to the right often times making the vehicle uncontrollable.i feel it is a potential danger and should be thouroughly reviewed by individuals outside the honda corporation.i have had my tires aligned once thinking that was the reason for the pull and it did not stop the problem.
Honda crv 2005 pulls to the right//correct tire pressure and alignment/not torque steer/requires constant left pressure on steering wheel.
We bought the 2005 crv se in august 2005, noticed the pttr when we bought it. The dealership said they knew about it and were going to replace the tires. After 6 visits to the dealership(replacing tires, switching wheels, aligning, aligning, aligning, etc.)the problem still exists. I do not feel safe when driving this car because of the consistent pttr and awkward driving experience. Honda needs to step up and do something about the problem or they will soon loose there reputation for quality vehicles.
Under acceleration,... And only under acceleration,...the 2005 cr-v... "torque-steers"... To the right!theharder the acceleration,... The harder it pulls to the right!... If this car was being driven by a person that was not paying proper attention to their driving... They would definitely have an accident!... The car would go to the right and go off the road,.. Or hit anything that was to their right!..i.e. Another car, pedestrian,... Tree,... Etc. This problem may very well have existed from day one,... However it has virtually always been driven... "gently"... For best fuel mileage..it was only after a mechanic replaced a faulty "anti-lock braking-system module" that this was discovered.after the abs module was replaced, it was test-driven. (i.e.) accelerate, then brake,... Repeat. Under this harder than normal acceleration, the torque-steer was discovered. Note: (1.) vehicle wheel alignment is good... (2.) tires are all properly inflated... (3.) at a constant/ steady speed,... And during braking... The car always goes straight! (4.) it only pulls hard to the right during acceleration... The greater the acceleration... The harder it pulls to the right! (5.) this car has not been involved in any sort of accident.. Attacked any curbs,... Hit any serious potholes... Etc.
Vehicle pulls to right all the time. This vehicle has been in the shop twice for the same problem. There is a tsb for this issue and it didn't help. I have since driven two other 2005 honda cr-v's they both have the same problemas soon as you take your hands off the wheel the vehicles will immediately pull to the right. This is a common compliant on many of the forums boards ie: edumonds.com
The contact owns a 2005 honda crv.while driving 45 mph, the tilt adjuster that controls different settings to adjust the steering column failed.the steering column loosened and moved up and down while driving.the contacthad to hold the tilt adjuster lock in his hand while driving until it locked back into place.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they determined that the tilt adjuster was functioning as designed.no repairs were made.the contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 12,000 and current mileage was 42,000.
Cr-v purchased was different from cr-v tested. After taking title noticed car pulling to right. Dealer aligned according to bulletin. Cr-v still pulls to right. Could go off road if steering wheel not held tightly.
Purchased 2005 honda cr-v new after asking specifically about reported pull to right read about on the web.took salesperson's word that it wasn't a problem; drove off the lot and the car wanted to center or caster about 5 degrees to right of center; it's acutally harder to steer left than to steer right.bare minimum foot on gas pedal also causes the steering wheel to point right by this amount though the pttr happens at coasting as well.alignment performed by martin honda, newark de two days after taking delivery.stated toe alignment off, swapped tires, and say that some steer error is normal due to crowned road.amazing, since the problem is experienced every bit as much on the majority of roads in my area, which as it happens are not crowned at all.drove the carin a long parking lot both directions in a line, in which case i should have seen "crown pull" (if any) happen downhill if an incline existed.alas, the pull was always to the right while going in either direction. Discovered technical service bulletin tsb # 03-004 which addresses this symptom in only certain 2002 and 2003 models.recommend that in the interest of public safety, that nhtsa consider enforcing this repair or similar, as appropriate, to any honda cr-v of any year that exhibits this phomenon, and that consumers avoid purchasing a honda cr-v.
Vehicle pulls to the right either during acceleration (hard pull) and cruising (soft pull).tried replacing the wheels, tires, alignment, balacing... Vibration at high speeds is gone but the pttr problem is still present. I showed the dealer the tsb from honda, it seems that they implemented but problem persists. I think this should be investigated and the vehicle recalled.
The locking mechanism for the tilt steering wheel not stay in a locked position.mine will not longer stay in the lock position at all. It remains in the droppeddownunlocked position causing the steering wheel to move up and down while the vehicle is in motion. It is also a hazard when getting out of the car as you can catch your leg with it and possible injure your leg.
We purchased a 2005 honda crv in january 2005 and noticed the vehicle pulls to the right, which has caused the right front tire to blow out on one occasion after conducting a right hand turn around a curb. No injuries were sustained; however, the vehicle continues pulling to the right.
I purchased a 2005 honda cr-v on july 11, 2005.after briefly driving the vehicle i noticed a severe pull to the right (later found out this is called ts (torque steer) during acceleration from a stop up to sixty-five miles per hour.in less than three seconds the car was two lanes to the right (safety hazard).i drove the vehicle in a parking lot with the grade to the left and the vehicle still pulled uphill to the right (so much for road crown pull).on 7/26 spreen honda of loma linda, ca, where the vehicle was purchased, had it aligned by the saturn dealership (owned by spreen owner) with no appreciable difference.on 7/28-7/29 spreen had preutt''s wheel alignment of redlands do a second alignment with no appreciable difference.the vehicle continues to pull to the right.spreen said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle, i was the only person that had complained about it, to their knowledge, that the pulling to the right was inherent in all front wheel drive vehicles (was not a problem in my 1999 cr-v), that they had no further commitment and i should talk to american honda.i think nhtsa should enforce the repair of this defect and honda should mitigate this defect or recall all of its affected vehicles immediately.
1) noticed a pull to the right after 6-8 months of use.2) is wearing my tires and can not let go of the wheel for any amount of time for fear i will drift in another lane. 3) have had honda dealer balance tires, rotate, and had 4 wheel alignment.they blame it on torque steering and that there is nothing they can do about it.
The car pulls severly to the right while driving. Took it to the dealer 4 days after purchase, he did a wheel rotation and realignment but of no use. The dealer says that everything is within the manufacturers specifications but the pull to the right problem is still there. Car trys to change lanes by itself on the highway. Had to pll back hard a couple of times to avoid accident.
Power steering fluid leakage from power steering hose. I noticed there were recall for honda acord but not for cr-v. I read all reviews and seems is risky and could catch fire.
I bought a 05 honda crv se and i changed the tires to goodyear assurance for better grip for the winter.the vehicle with correct tire pressure pulled to the right.the vehicle than was checked to fault in alignment twice (once from the honda dealer and again at professional tire shop) and found no fault.the vehicle continued to pull to the right as well as having too much torque steer when it starts to accelerate from the a light or a complete stop.the vehicle is not even half a year old.
New honda 2005 crv lx awd.vehicle drifted to right of road and pulls to the right with acceleration, more acceleration = harder pull.it is bad. Honda dealer performed 2 tsbs to correct (tire change out and upper spring seal angle)but neitherfixed problem (they admit there is a problem still and are waiting for honda engineering to call them. They also checked 2 other crvs on their lot and both had the same problem) this is a potential safety issue -- imagine cruise on,up a hill and the vehicle downshifs from 5th to 3rd to regain speed, pulling, causing the un-alert driver to change lanes/off-road, or to over compensate one-handed.
Purchased 2005 honda crv for teenaged daughter in december 2004.her mother drove the car for the first time on march 5, 2005 and was unfamiliar with the severe torque steer present in the vehicle.after making a right turn onto a major highway under hard acceleration, the steering wheel slipped from my wife's hands and the car struck the curb on the right side of the road.this blew both tires on the right side.at my own expense, i had all four tire replaced and a four-wheel alignment done at an independent dealer.torque steer is still very prevalent.i took the car to the dealer yesterday and i was told there was nothing wrong with the car that the pulling to the right was characteristic of the crv.to the point where it steers you into a curb!??i am told there is no fix for this condition.now i am out $600 for repairs, and i'm not so sure i want my daughter driving this car.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v.while driving 20 mph, the vehicle began pulling to the right and then flipped over onto the driver's side without warning.the police arrived at the scene and filed a report.the contact believed that the tie rod assembly caused the failure.the weather was dry and clear.the contact has not spoken to the dealer as of yet.the insurance company stated that the vehicle was destroyed.the current and failure mileages were 47,477.
2005 honda cr-v. Consumer states grinding noise and tire wall deterioration *tgwthe consumer stated when the tire wall deteriorated it pulled apart wedging between the axle rod and tire and was beginning to shred the tire. A month later, she noticed the plastic tire wall on the driver's side had also started to disintegrate and was breaking down in a similar fashion. In early july, while driving, the plastic front piece on the grill on the front of the vehicle came loose and starting flapping up and down.

The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the rear door hinge exhibited extensive rust. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the hinge would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 150,000.
The rear door light warning go off and on all the timeand the rear door hinges are wearing out a lot.. I feel the rear door everytime i hit a pothole is move
The rear door falls off the vehicle when you open the door.there is only one hinge holding the door onto the body. It is mounted halfway down the door and is external and exposed to the weather. When you open the door the metal pin that holds the hinge together has completely rusted inside the hinge and is completely broken half way down inside the hinge, so that when you open the door the hinge pulls apart and the door falls off the body. This rear door is the rear hatch opening access to the rear of the vehicle. It covers the entire rear of the vehicle from the roof to the floor and from the left side to the right side. It opens from the left to the right. I can't get the rusted pin out because it has turned into a solid piece of rusted metal inside the hinge. The newer versions of the crv have a hatch that is double-hinged from the roof and opens from bottom to top.
Hood on car opened while driving on highway - without warning - had to stop car immediately due to fact of not being able to see. No one was injured, thank goodness because my wife and daughter were in the car, but there is damage to vehicle. Car is leased vehicle and i do not want to be charged for repair.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the driver side door window assembly failed. The failure occurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and repaired. The exact repairs were unknown. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
2005 crv tailgate ajar light illuminates when on rough surfaces or on the highway.the light indicated that the door may be open.sometimes it was a false alarm, but in some cases the door was not closed securely.
Since '05 honda crv was purchased, (4 months ago) vehicle pulls to the right.besides being a road hazard at all speeds, the pulling apparently results in all tires being out of alignemnt.vehicle has been to the dealer for repair three (3) times without any repair that helped the problem of pulling to the right.(vehicle was re-aligned once.)honda manufacturer technician stated that all 2 wheel drive and front wheel drive vehicles pull to the right at speeds under 30 mph.additionally, technician stated that honda does not have any specification as to how much a vehicle can pull to the right and that this is normal.
My husband and i purchased a 2005 cvr 10 days ago.as of day one the crv pulls serverly to the right.we have had no help from the dealer. Won't answer our calls to make an appointment. Our tires have been checked and they are fine.when going over a small bump you need to pull the wheel to the left to not go into the other lane.when driving on a flat road you need to keep the turned left so it doesn't fo into the other lane. We were told it was the street or tire air pressure when we pulled out of the dearlers after the contract was signed. They made it seem it was no big deal. I feel unsafe in this vehicle.
Dt*:the contact stated while making right turns and accelerating at any speed, the steering wheel jerked to the right.the dealership determined this was how the vehicle was manufactured.updated 08/25/06.
Cr-v purchased was different from cr-v tested. After taking title noticed car pulling to right. Dealer aligned according to bulletin. Cr-v still pulls to right. Could go off road if steering wheel not held tightly.
I attempted to purchase a 2005 honda cr-v, ex trim, 5-speed manual transmission.i found that three of the vehicles i test drove have a pull to the right, varying from moderate to severe between vehicles.when i complained, the dealer did not fix the vehicle, but added an extra 10 pounds of pressure to the right front tire - this of course masked (but didn't cure) the problem.i ended up canceling my contract and walked away -- from the edmunds.com forums, it seems that others were not as fortunate and now may be stuck with faulty vehicles.
Dt:2005 honda crv, consumer states the vehicle was pulling to the right.dealership has had the vehicle 3 times and nothing wasimproved.also, he vehicle wasto be taken to the dealership in one week.she called honda and had t a case opened, #n012005-06-2701355, case manager, michelle swabe.the were trying alignments, changing the tires, and other things.dealer changed strut angle per service bulletin; adjusted engine mount and change tires.however problem still exist.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the vehicle became hard to control. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that both of the front control arms needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.
Vehicle exhibits severe pull to the right (pttr) during highway speeds under normal driving conditions causing involuntary lane change (crossing over to adjacent lane) and potential collision.
2005 honda crv.consumer writes in regardsto defective wheel suspension system.the consumer stated when his wife backed out of a parking spot, she felt a crunch and a drop come from the front ofthe vehicle. The a frame of the right front wheel suspension failed at the welded attach point on the sway bar. The weld had been failing for some time as there was rust and dirt on some of the broken edges. According to the invoice, the front control arm broke, causing the axle to fail and the sway bar link to fail.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited steady vibration once traveling over 42 mph. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that both axles would need replacing. The contact replaced the axles but the failure persisted. The contact then replaced all four tires to no avail. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told to take the vehicle back to the dealer so that an engineer could further inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 77,000.
Dt: the contactpurchased a new 2005 honda crv lx and it waspulling to the right while driving. She did not think that the vehicle iwas out of alignment. When she accelerated and pulled onto a road the vehicle pulledto the right. The vehicle has not been to the dealership yet, butwill be taken to dealer on 10-18-2005.there was no indication as to what the problem may be. There was no certain speed that it affected. Thecktacthas contacted honda, and they stated that a case manager would call her in one to two days.
Consumer curious as to why no investigation has begun regarding 2005 honda crv problems pulling to the right.*mr
My 2005 honda cr-v pulls strongly to the right at highway speeds.i visited the dealer, and they indicated that this is a manufacturing defect described in honda tsb 05-022.however, they refused to repair it!
2005 honda crv pulls to the right under normal driving and acceleration conditions.noticed within first couple of days of leasing the vehicle.i was told this was normal.
Purchased a new 2005 honda crv in early 2005.when we picked up our new vehicle, we noticed it pulling to the right on our ride home.thinking the front end needed alignment, we weren't alarmed at the time.we recently returned it to the dealer for correction of the pulling to the right (pttr) problem.after having the front end realigned we drove off the lot and noticed it was still pttr.returned to the dealer.their next step was to change the right front hub and switch the front wheels.the service manager said the result was the vehicle now pulled to the left.based on this finding they decided the original front right tire was defective.since replacement tires are on backorder, they put our spare tire on the front left and put the defective tire on the back as the spare.this would have been ok with us, but the vehicle still pttr.not sure what needs to be done next to fix this problem.we have never had a problem with any of the other 4 hondas we have owned.
2005 honda cr-v two problems since new:1) camber wear on both rear tires (wears outside treads), but cr-v has no camber adjustment--caused by lashing the rear axle down when new on car transporter truck. 2) car pulls to the right when accelerating from a stop.
2005 honda crvvin # [xxx] pulls to right, excessive torque steer. 5 service reportsout of aligment. Struts relocated in front end. Updated 07/17/2012 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
My honda 2005 cr-v ex has a problem with pull to the right (pttr) from day one (may 31, 2005).the faster i drive, the harder it pulls. It doesn't matter of i accelerate or drive at a steady speed, the pttr is there.for example, when i drove at 70 mph on i-10, which is a 4-lane road, 2 lanes on each direction (north of tallahassee), i was on the left lane, then took my hands off the steering wheel. It started to drift to the right after two seconds. And then between 2 to 3 seconds later, my v was on the right lane. I had to grab the wheel and pulled it straight back to the road otherwise it would go into a ditch or hit a tree.did the same test as above, except i took my foot off the gas pedal (let the v cruise on its inertia) at the same time i took my hands off the steering wheel. The pttr reduced significantly, after 7-8 seconds it started to drift to the right. This is should be considered normal.3 trips to honda dealer in tallahassee but they could not fix it. On the fourth trip, they said there is no pttr. I insisted the problem did not go away, and they said they tried everything (swap front tires, alignment, tsb, sub frame) within alignment and nothing they can do any more. They admitted there was pttr the first time i brought it in, but now they said it is normal.i checked in cr-v forums of edmunds.com (and some other site) and i found that some people have the same problem, and other people don't have. One vehicle even had 2 front suspension replaced from an unaffected cr-v to get the problem solved. Honda did issued a tsb for this problem, but it did not fix it, or just temporally fixed for a few months (according to some people in the forums). I think this is a defect and it has a dangerous potential to lead to a crash. It should be investigated thoroughly to come up with a real fix.nick nguyen
I bought a 2005 honda crv 2-lx at the beginning of this year. From day one, it pulled to the right. I have had the vehicle at the dealer 3 times for realignment, tire rotation and other adjustments with no improvement at all. The alignment read-outs are fine.on a flat surface going 35-40 mph, not holding the steering wheel, the vehicle changes lanes within 4 seconds. Honda says 6 seconds is allowable. They don't seem to be able to fix the problem and i feel i'm driving an unsafe vehicle.

Serious vibrations when making a sharp left or right turn on honda crv 2006 model. Based on various online forums and honda dealer in fremont, it is because of the bad rear differential fluid that needs to be replaced. Honda warranty says that this fluid should be replaced between 60,000 - 90,000 miles while my crv has only 33,000 miles on it. When i asked the honda dealer to cover it under warranty, they denied. I want honda to fix this problem since it is still under warranty.
A/c stopped working i live in hawaii and need it to help condensation on inside windshield and side windows when it rains. Read there are a lot of problems with crv a/c units failing. Was just driving along when i noticed warm air was coming from a/c in on position now loud noises from the unit.
First oil change at dealership on my 2005 honda crv at 3500 miles.flames bursting out the following day, with oil spraying all over.no injuries.towed to dealer to fix.oxygen sensors needed replacing.apparently, this defect has been known about for a couple years, but dealer still flubbed the oil change.

The a/c stopped working in my 05 honda crv. I took it to my mechanic who said that my a/c compressor blew up. Something he called. Black death. The cost to repair this would just about exceed the sale price of my car. After researching this it appears that this is a very common issue for honda crv a/c systems. I cannot find a recall however where honda has accepted the blame and agreed to put out a recall and fix it for those of us dealing with this. Can you tell me if this is something that may be looked at by those that monitor recalls, and if so are there any plans to start a campaign or recall for this issue? thank you for your time
2005 honda cr-v.rear differential.manual states replace rd fluid every 90k, but dealer continues to claim must be done every 10k.who to believe?not sure of the consequences.my complaint to the dealer was front end noise on hard turns and that was their diagnosis.how could the fluid break down that soon?none of my previous vehicles ever had the problem.
My ac compressor is out so my ac is not working.
Air conditioning does not work.
Takata recall...i keep getting recall notices but we traded the car in about 6 years ago.we don?t know where it is.we have called honda and gone to the new york state dmv and they can?t remove our name from the list.it is no longer in our possession.please remove our name from the list.thank you,
While on a road trip driving home on a major interstate highway, the a/c compressor went out.
The rear door light warning go off and on all the timeand the rear door hinges are wearing out a lot.. I feel the rear door everytime i hit a pothole is move
While i was driving home and started to slowly accelerate after being at a stoplight (it was having difficulty accelerating then when i got up to 15mph there was a very loud pop and it didn't want to really want to continue accelerating but lucky i was almost home ) and my a/c compressor exploded and sent shards of medal though my entire a/c system. I was told it was called "black death" my serpentinebelt lucky kept spinning around the locked clutch for me to get home. I am having to replace my a/c compressor, condenser, high and low lines, evaporator core, expansion valve, and flushing the lines that don't change. It is currently immobile in my driveway until i can get it completely repaired. My car was built 10/2004
Our insured took their 2006 honda crv for maintenance. One week later after oil change & differential service - auto caught on fire while in travel. Insured auto fire originated at right front under hood.
While driving on the expressway, the back window latch popped open. I was not in a place where i could address it @ that time, i was appraching a tunnel. Unfortunately, by the time i could pull out of traffic, the window was open completely. Kind of a scary situation. It popped open one other time while parked @ my home.

Twice today while i was driving my crv, i let up on the gas and the car continued to accelerate.i noticed that the engine rpm dial continued to climb up.once i tappedthe brakes the car stopped accelerating. The first time i thought maybe it was just a fluke but it did the same thing later in the day.
2005 honda cr-v.consumer writes in regards to vehicle sudden acceleration accident.the consumer stated his foot was on the brake before the incident. Consequentlly, the consumer hit a parked vehicle.
Thank you.
Slowed down to turn left into a driveway. As i turned, the car accelerated and the engine rpm crossed 5000.had the brakes depressed but the vehicle accelerated and crashed into the garage door. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or an independent service center.the smog check was performed at a test center less than a month ago and passed. Engine light came on intermittently a couple times between the smog test and the day of the crash.
The accelerator on my 2006 honda crv has gotten stuck twice in the last week while driving on the highway.i checked for floor obstructions.none were present.i finally put it in neutral and coasted to a stop, and turned off the car.when i turned it back on, it seemed to run fine.the occurrences were 2 days apart.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)[xxx] i am writing you for the accident in sept. 12, 2009, i drove the honda 2006 crv se in the local road named concord farm north bound. Before stop sign, i released the accelerator and started to brake, as usual itstopped before the stop sign, but that day it did not. At the moment i realized i could not stop the car, i was thinking to cross road, but there was no time to react i got hit by the car who traveled on the road perpendicular to my direction.this accident was considered as my mistake. Since i did not have collision insurance and the car was totaled which is the big financial loss (actual market value estimated in $20k) in my life. At the same time i suffered the burning on arm from the airbag popup and frequent noise on ears. Until today i still have issues with insurance company on medial coverage.i am the careful driver and never have had any accident caused by myself. I do not understand what really happen on the day at the time. At the beginning i blame the brake, which might be wore out since i just have tires replaced (the life time for the tires should be 6 years or over 70k miles but actually wore out in 3 years and 45k miles). But the technician never warns me for replacing brakes. After i reported my suspicious to the insurance company then there was a phone message from some one declared the brake was in good condition (i assume the phone message was from insurance company). Any way i have to admit all are my own bad luck. Recently i watched the news and learned that toyota has recall over a lot of models for accelerator problem and i noticed that both the electronic and mechanic components used on accelerators are made by the same company cts. We knew it took toyota about 8 years to eventually admit their design problem and i believe honda might have the same problem as toyota. From a customer point of view i want to know the statistics on honda crv accident on 2006 model.
Driving along a 4 lane road at 25-30mph when suddenly car accelerated out of control.though i stomped on brakes, my car smashed into the car in front of me.the air bags did not deploy and i received severe whiplash.the car sustained more than $12,000 damage.honda refuses to admit the car had a problem.
Vehicle stability or vsa sight and abs light came on at the same time. Honda dealer advised me that the repair would cost me $2337 dollars to repair. Iwould think that a recall would be in order for this safety related and stability related problem!
On my 2005 honda cr-v the driver side sun visor will not stay up. It will fall into my view of the road at any time blocking my view of the road. I have had several oem honda replacements and they have all fail in the same manor. Honda will no longer replace this defective item under warranty. This is a danger to 2005 honda cr-v owner/operators.
The glass in the left side mirror fell out, adhesive failure. Last year the right side mirror glass fell out due to the same problem. The dealer laughed it off saying this is very rare. Having both of my mirrors fall off is not funny and is dangerous as i cannot see to change lanes.

The sun visor on the driver's side fails to stay in the up position, thus blocking the view of the traffic ahead. I have researched this problem on the web and there are many, many similar complaints. I believe this is a design flaw and honda should be required to stand behind the problem. This is a safety hazard.

A/c stopped working i live in hawaii and need it to help condensation on inside windshield and side windows when it rains. Read there are a lot of problems with crv a/c units failing. Was just driving along when i noticed warm air was coming from a/c in on position now loud noises from the unit.
The contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. The contact stated driver's side power window master switch failed to function as designed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer bryan honda (4104 raeford rd, fayetteville, nc 28304, (910) 483-1234) where it was diagnosed with needing the driver's side power window master switch to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 20v768000 (electrical system, visibility) but continued to experience the same failure. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
Regarding 2006 honda crv.problem - drivers side window auto function not working properly.problem began prior to the vehicle reaching 30,000 miles.window stops going up as if it hit an obstruction.sometimes will not go down at all.dealer wouldn't identify the problem for another 10,000 miles, but it was determined that the window regulator had too much play in it.honda also supposedly issued a bulletin to its dealers regarding problems resulting from water and debris getting into the window mechanisms.

I have experienced at least 5 front windshield chips in my 05 honda crv. I've only owned this vehicle for 5 1/2 months. 2 of the 5 have required repairs.i am certain i will require a complete new windshield in the near future.the sound of impact does not indicate that any damage should be caused, however the honda windshield is like paper.i feel it is in my best interest to replace my current windshield for fear of further property damage and or injury to myself and my passengers.
The tire was flat for no apparent reason and we pulled into a uhaul location where they filled air and apparently no air was leaking. However, we took the vehicle into costco tire center since the michelins were purchased there and they examined and said the rims were "damaged". There is no visible damage from outside but according to them, the air leaks from the inside in the rim and the tire has been flat again. We thought it is the valve but even after valve replacement, its the same issue. This has happened before but we had a valve changed then too and it worked apparently. Not sure if the rims are not accurately machined but this seems to be a prevalent problem.
Flat tire was observed.the stock steel rims and tire were examined.a crack was discovered along the seam of the rim leaking air looking at it from the axle perspective.i've had friends with similar problems with the crv rims.
The contact owns a 2005 honda crv. The contact stated that both the front and rear passenger side rims leaked, causing the tires to go flat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact that she would have to replace the rims. There were no recalls for the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 59,000.
Vehicle tires losing air due to defect in seam of rim.this occurred on two of my car's tires and rims.costco auto repair personnel advised that there is a hole in the seam (of the rim) which is causing air to leak out of the tire.
A bolt came loose and fell off on the right front wheel causing the tire to break free and go sideways.
