We received a recall notice on our honda crv in march 2020.we had previously been concerned about a possible airbag recall and had been assured that our vehicle wasn't affected, now honda has changed their story.we haven't been using our crv for fear of a deadly accident.we are frustrated that parts for repairing this won't be available for nearly a year.moreover, there's been no offer of a loaner car or other suitable short term replacement vehicle.they should either provide a total airbag replacement, or a loaner car for the duration at their cost.

The 2 front airbag inflators did not inflate in a front end collision, on campbell rd on 12/4/15,they only popped out about a coupe of inches and front seat belt will not adjust now. I saw there is a recall/fix problem for honda's cr-v from 2002 to 2011 but nothing listed earlier than 2002.

March 2020 recall from honda.inflator may absorb moisture of driver airbag to malfunction in crash increasing risk of injury, metal fragments striking driver or passengers, increasing risk of injury or death. Local dealer says parts still not available. Cannot reach honda corp.

My 1999 honda cr-v has the srs light on.the dealer informed me there is an internal failure in the srs unit.this is not covered by the warranty and will cost $826 to repair.i did not abuse this system.i have never even seen the air bags or srs unit.if the seatbelts have to function then the airbags should have to function also.i cannot afford this repair. Please note all the other complaints about honda srs failures reported on the internet and require honda to repair these for free as a safety issue.

The supplemental restraint system (srs) light turned on for no apparent reason.there was not frontal impact and/or impact whatsoever so therefore i suspect that there may be a defect within the srs system itself but no cooperation was offered from the dealer and/or honda.a personal friend also had the same problem but he did not report it as may be the case with many individuals.this concerns me and therefore i ask for your assistance before anyone gets hurt.i thank you in advance for your assistance and time.

1999 honda cr-v. Consumer writes in regards to driver frontal airbag safety recall. Consumer states that the parts are unavailable to repair safety recall. *ld

Complaint on how the dealer is handling the recall. The issue that the dealer isn't ordering parts to support the recall and calling the owner when the parts come in. They are relying on the customer forgetting to continue to call each month to determine if the dealer has been sent parts that they haven't ordered. This just turns into a black hole for the customer without any expectation the recall will get done.

I was notified in march that my honda cr'v's air bag was recalled and could be potentially deadly or ineffective in a crash. This car was being driven by my son and was to be his car until the recall came through. It's now almost the end of july and there is no new information regarding when the parts will be available to fix this situation. I need to be able to give my son a safe car to drive for work and college; what are my options if honda isn't replacing the air bags in a timely manner?

Honda cr-v 1999 doesn't shift into 2 gear or 3rd like it use to.serpentine belts go out quick.the a/c isn't cool or cool enough and it's been checked.the 'd' drive symbol doesn't appear anymore like a fuse blew out or something.at times it'll appear as though my e brake is on when it's not.when the a/c is on, the vehicle rattles and or jumps like it wants to shut off.i believe it's a wiring issue as well.

My vehicle had a recall for the ignition switch in 2002. My honda crv is a 1999 that i recently purchased. The previous owner had the ignition switch replaced at the time of the recall. I discovered that the car was shutting off with no warning while i was driving. According to the information on the honda recall website, this part needs to be replaced because summary: on certain sedans, coupes, hatchbacks, and sport utility vehicles, electrical contacts in the ignition switch can degrade due to the high electrical current passing through the switch when the vehicle is started.consequence: worn contacts could cause the engine to stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Honda is not therefore correcting the cause of the ignition switch degradation, they are simply admitting that it wears out prematurely and poses a safety hazard so they are required to replace it. It has now been 13 years since it was replaced and i believe that it has worn out. When i took it in to honda on grand, i was told that the ignition switch did in fact need to be replaced, but that the car also had a bad cylinder and they wanted $798.00 to fix both with two hours of labor. They insisted that since the part had been replaced under the original recall, they were not required to replace it again. I am disputing this since honda admits that the part wears out faster due to the configuration, i.e., high electrical charge, and this poses a safety risk as it causes the car to die out. The car was only three years old when the part was replaced during the original recall, and they have already substantiated that the part is worn out. In addition, honda charges almost $300 for the ignition switch, but it is available on the internet for $40.00, and it only required 30 minutes to replace.

The contact owns a 1999 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the key became stuck in the ignition and failed to start the vehicle. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician diagnosed that the wires in the ignition needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

April 5, 2003it was about 9:00 pm. I had just paid my toll on the new jersey side of the river.i was traveling westbound on the ben franklin bridge towards philadelphia. I was traveling about 35 mph and was in the right-hand lane in order to take the exit off to the right to get onto south i-95. This exit ramp is at the bottom of the bridge on the pennsylvania side of the delaware river. As i was nearing the bottom of the bridge, my 1999 honda crv suddenly accelerated with such high rpms that it surged forward at an extremely rapid rate. It took off on its own so fast that not even the brakes would or could slow it down. I actively applied my brakes but to my horror, my brakes would not work and could not slow down the car.the car kept accelerating uncontrollably. I even pulled up on my emergency brake and tried to maneuver my car as i was traveling at a rapid pace through the traffic and could not stop my car until it crashed into another. This horrific accident totaled my car and resulted in the death of a woman in another car.my injuries kept me in the hospital for a week. A taxi driver had some injuries. He was treated and released.the honda crv was totalled and the car is being kept in storage, pending further investigation.

Door locks lock and unlock on their own. Standing outside or looking out of home window i can see and hear them going up and down. Also, the dome light flickers off and on while this is happening. Car was bought from a used car lot, and did not come with a remote key fob. The check-engine light has been reset twice but comes on and has stayed on while driving for 11 months so far. Cannot open back/hatch door with key, must use the latch inside the car. When turning tight left or right, the whole car shakes underneath. Otherwise, no problems.

The ignition switch turned off the crv while driving.it would start up again if manually turing the switch to run or on, or at at stop turing it to start after putting the transmission into park/neutral, but before this there is little control to the steering & brakes.it is especially dangerous at intersections where you need two hands to steer.this has happened multiple times over the months ive had the crv.but today, the ignition switch doesnt seem to work at all.

The contact owns a 1999 honda cr-v. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds or sitting idle, the vehicle would stall without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that the electrical contact for the ignition switch failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign id number 02v120000 (electrical system) and offered no further assistance. The failure and current mileages was approximately 173,906.

My vehicle stalled on the freeway as i was going 65 miles an hour. I was lucky i did not get into an accident.

While i'm driving the engine will shut off by itself. I start again and run for a period of time and shut off again. I read from honda service bulletin that ignition switch causing the problem and it's recall parts.

I own a 1999 honda cr-v.the check engine light came on around 102,000 miles.the car began losing power, shaking while idling and chugging loudly during gear shifting. One day the engine just died, right in the middle of the parking lot i was driving through.no warning.i then took it to a mechanic i trust.they first had me replace the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires.it took them two visits to finally realize the valves were burnt and the head now must be replaced.average cost to replace is $3500 to $4000.i have been researching this and it is a common complaint for 1997 to 2000 plus models.this problem must be stopped before someone is seriously injured.

The vehicles stopped without warning while driving on highway.

Picked up new car from oklahoma dealer, drove home, one hour later car won't start. Dealer picks up car, fixes brings back to us, said it was something to do with fuse panel. Several years later driving down busy florida interstate, car just dies, after approx. 10 minutes car finally starts. Two months later same thing happens on same interstate, car towed to local dealer. Told it was a short caused by after market sunroof, not wise to claim repair through warranty, cost over 500.00 dollars to fix. Present day, once again car has started dying and takes some time before it will restart. Contacted local dealer, they say vin not on recall list. No punch mark on engine compartment vin.

The first 3 incidents were as follows. 1) car idling while talking restarted. 2) stalled during low speed driving, restarted after 3 tries. 3) stalled during low speed driving, restarted after 3 tries. 4) stalled while driving would not restart until 3 retries and waiting 45 minutes then started and drove home 5 miles.no service engine light for any of the events.found recall from 2002 for ignition replacement, will contact local dealer.car purchased on west coast we moved shortly after that to the east coast.

1999 honda crv; stopped at a signal; automatic door locks started going up/down repeatedly; then engine just died; i put car in gear and started the car; mechanic determined the ignition was faulty; this was the first and only time it happened; luckily i was able to get it to the mechanic immediately.

The engine of my honda crv-v stalls without warning. On several occasions it has stalled while driving on a highway at 60 mph. Lehigh valley honda in allentown pa is suggesting that the ignition switch cylinder is the problem. The ignition switch itself was replaced in 2002 (nhtsa campaign id number :02v120000).

1999 honda cr-v. Consumer states vehicle exhibiting behavior outlined in recall bulletin 02-231, stalling without warning.*tgwthe consumer stated it appeared the recall was performed in 2002, but, there were several questions involved. He stated the repair order did not specifically say the ignition switch was installed. The process may have been started, but the parts may have been on hold. Second, the service bulletin called in step 9 for a center punch completion mark above the eighth character of the engine compartments vin. No such mark existed on his vehicle. Third, other service work was done on the same day as the recall, and would appear to leave too little time to complete the recall work the same day. And if the switch was replaced, it would appear that the replacement has the same defect. The consumer took the vehicle to a repair shop and it appeared the replacement switch had also failed as the original recall problem, which was due to burnt contacts in the switch from arcing. Updated 04/29/10.

Consumer received recall notice 02v12 in the mail regarding the ignition switch.consumer learned there were stipulations to the recall.consumer received a remote starter as a gift but was installed at a different facility.consumer was told the dealership would only repair the ignition switch and would have to deactivate the remote starter.the dealership however will not reactivate the remote starter and consumer would have to take the vehicle to another facility and have them reactivate the starter at consumers expense.*jg

Yes just a couple of days ago someone took off the catarac converter from myvehicle, and i had to replace that with another one, and since than my vehicle has not been the same since, plus they also cut the oxygen cable also, what to do???

Lost of complete power while driving.

Car engine instantly shutdown while driving at 50 miles per hour down route 65 in pa.after several minutes, engine restarted but then completely quit while driving at 45 miles per hour on route 376.

Vehicle stalls/cuts off without warning while driving in heavy city traffic.last occurence was 3/6/2016 and one before that was 12/19/2015. Supposedly there was a recall and repair done 6/7/2005. This is unsafe and dangerous.

We purchased a 1998 honda civic in march 1998. While it was in the warranty period, the ac unit went out which was covered.my husband brought it to the dealer and was told that something caused a metal part in the compressor to break, causing metal fragments to contaminate the ac system.the car was about 2-3 years old and the time and the dealer repaired it at no cost to us. We have since sold this vehicle. In july of 1999 we purchased a honda cr-v (ex) which we still own.we also purchased the extended warranty ($75k coverage) on this vehicle.in august of 2003 (within 200 miles of when the extended warranty expired) at 77k miles, the a/c compressor failed.i took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that there was no coverage due to the fact that the warranty had expired.i took it to several a/c repair shops and most of them quoted $1200-$1400.we had the ac repaired by a reputable ac repair shop at the cost of $1200.we have kept up all required maintenance on the vehicle and intended on keeping it for another 2 years or so.however, last week, my husband was driving and the same thing happened.the compressor made a terrible clunking noise, and something appeared to break off. We brought it in and sure enough, the compressor had gone out again. I was told by the dealer this time, that it appears that something (road debris) causes this problem and that many others have complained about it.we are being quoted another $1400-$1500 to fix the a/c.we have decided not to buy another honda due to the problems we have had.my husband had to buy another vehicle (this time a toyota) because he drives 30 miles one way and then has to drive around to customers.when i called the dealer, i was told there was nothing they could do.i believe that honda has been aware for many years about a defect in the ac systems or a defect in the way the ac systems and have acted in bad faith by not doing anything about it.

Honda crv check engine light has come on three times. Dealer had done schedule maintainance including changing plugs. Dealer has done all schedule maintainance and service manager stated they had adjusted valves at the 60k tune-up. At about 70k took auto to dealer for check engine light. They said lugs misfired, reset code. Month later check engine light came on went off next day. Dealer said "ah, just drive it, if it comes on again bring it in". Month later light comes on. Now dealer said need a new head because of valve problem quoted $3350 price. Told him no way was i paying that, he talked to honda rep and price is dropped to $1400. I am still getting ripped off. This willbe the last honda i own.

Honda crv burned vavle.many crv owners of 1998 and 1999 have reported the same problem.honda mechanic had stated that this is a manufacturer defect.the valve was installed too tight causing friction and eventually burned the valve.honda corp. Is not claming any responsiblity for this problem anymore.the cut off date that honda would have covered the repair cost was approximately 2 months ago from today 12/9/03 according to the mechanic at the glendale (ca) honda dealership. *la

After 112,000 miles my 1999 honda cr-v check engine light came on.shortly thereafter the engine was running rough resulting in a burned exhaust valve and $1200 valve job.acording to honda maintenance schedule it is suggested the valve clearances be inspected at 105,000 mi.as this is such a critical item the honda should make the consumer "painfully aware" of this problem to avoid high cost repairs, especially since it is a very common problem.my research has found many people with the same burnt exhaust valve situation, some ocuuring before the scheduled maintenance required.bottom line - honda should pay for these repairs.

#3 exhaust valve burned and chipped on my 1999 crv.98,000 miles, perfect service history.understanding is that this is a common event on this model.engine rebuild required to correct problem.

While driving at 55 mph engine light came on and stayed on. Vehicle would not properly accelerate, and the handling was not manageable. Vehiclehad two valve jobs done.currently, cylinder headsneed to be replaced.

I have a 1999 honda cr-v with approximately 120k miles on it. The #4 cylinder has low compression due to a burned exhaust valve. The owner's manual fails to state that the valves need to be checked every 15k miles (honda has acknowledged the misprint but fails to assist in repair costs). The vehicle idles very low and stalls occasionally, putting me and my family at risk.

I began experiencing a misfire during idle in my 99 honda crv about a year ago.i took the car to the dealer and he said my fuel injectors were bad and charged me approx.$750 to replace.i continued to have the problem so i did a tune up on the vehicle.this still did not solve the problem.i brought the car back to the dealer and he said he could not find anything wrong with the car and it was missing becausei did not use honda spark plugs.i replace the bosch plugs with honda plugs and still experienced the problem.i lived with the problem for a few more months and final brought it back to the dealer for the third time.now he says that i need a new head and new fuel injectors nd wants $4800 for the repairs.i have been researching the subject on the internet and there are hundreds of complaints of the same problem.the honda valves need to be adjusted every 15,000 to 30,000 miles or they can get too tight and cause burned valves or a damaged head.the honda owners manual only recommends adjusting the valves at a much greater interval.this is definitely a design defect and honda should be held liable for their incompetent engineering ability.by the way the dealer i went to is napletons autowerks honda in rockford illinois.

Consumer stated that his 1999 crv has the same problems as stated in tsb 03-038.***nar***the tsb was for poor engine performance due to exhaust valves receding into the cylinder heads. The consumer feels that the manufacturer should be responsible for replacing the faulty parts.

My mom's 1999 honda crv had to undergo several valve jobs from different dealers when it had under 75,000 miles because there were so many problems with the engine. Numerous costs totaled over $2000.contacted honda, but there weren't any recalls, or known problems at the time.seems like a lot of other crv's are having the same problem though.shouldn't honda fix this problem by sending out a recall as it is not the fault of the owners of the car?.

With 57k miles and all recommended maintenance, my honda crv had a burnt exhaust valve on the #3 cylinder.in researching this problem, i found several similar complaints all referring to the #3 cylinder and the valve tightness from the factory. If honda realized this may be a problem, could they have not adjusted these valves during regular maintenance? i'm not happy in paying for a repair that honda could have prevented but didn't inform me that might happen. *ph

Hello i have a 1999 honda crv.. I have 102k on my car. I have had taken my car to a repair shop (hondapro) and they told me thatparticular engine has had problems specifically with the valves overtightening and causing the head to need to be replaced. No symptoms accrue then the cel comes on with codes of misfire, by that time its too late. Burnt and cracked valves are a common problem with this car. I have read several forums that has other owners of the honda crv that has had the same problem and had to replace the head that costs the consumer at least between 3-5k to fix the problem. I have already replaced the valves on mine once at about 87,327 miles. I don't think that the engine head is a good one when its only been less that 15k miles and the problems come back. I hope something can get done about this head problem. Thank you.

Vehicle stalling and experiencing vibration due to engine cylinder failure.

Consumer took vehicle to emissions test station, and was told that his failed the emissions testbecause it was misfiring.consumer stated that emission officials gave him a paper that stated the codes that made his vehicle not pass the test.consumer called the honda dealer, and asked them to give him the meaning of the codes.when they did, and he asked what they meant, he was told that basically they meant that engine was misfiring.consumernoticed that transmission was shifting weirdly, but he did not payany attention to it.however, warranty expired.

At 71,655 miles, my 1999 honda cr-v had the engine check light come on.took it to the dealership who checked it on the cpu and found misfire codes for all of the cylinders.exhaust valves were very tight.valves were adjusted.was told that the valves started to burn.we were told that this is very common with all 1999 honda cr-vs.was told that head assembly will need to be replaced for $3265.00.since the honda technician has seen this problem numerous times before, as well as technicians at many other honda service departments that were called about the problem, honda should be paying for this repair.up until this point, we swore by honda, but now believe that we will switch to toyotas.

No failure yet, however, owners manual calls for tire pressure of 24 pounds front and rear.my question is, has there been any tire failure due to low air pressure on honda crvs.what is the correct tire pressure for a honda crv?why does honda recommend such a low tire pressure?is there a roll-over hazzard in the honda crv is tire pressure is 30 psi??thank you, ron( dot number: tire size: 205/70r15 )

At 22,000 milesheadlights have become inoperable, cause unknown.please give any further details.

I almost rear ended this car this morning.the brake lights are too high on the vehicle, and there are no brake or turn lights just above the bumper. With the sun visor down, and being able to see only the lower half of the car, the brake lights are not in view.design flaw!

On three separate occasions, ihave gone to warm up the car and the automatic locks on the vehicle have engaged after i have exited the vehicle. On two of those occasions, a child has been in the vehicle, locking the child in the car with the car running. The car does not have to be in drive, or have been moving for the locks to engage. The doors lock within seconds of the car door being shut and once the key is in the ignition, the remote sensor can not be used to unlock the vehicle.

Own a 1999 honda crv original owner, the back rear latch freezes almost yearly usually in the summer months. Need to take a screwdriver and try to loosen the lock latch repeatedly and spray with w40 sometimes it works, very fustrating and dangerous if it wont close. If the lock doesn't move, i must tie the door closed from inside the car with a rope tied to the back seat.

Only way to unlock passenger's door is by using driver's side button.consumer feels this is a safety concern because if in an accident andpassenger was unconscious how would they get out. Consumer states passenger not able to use handle to get out of vehicle.

Rear door lock mechanism on my car rusted to the point that locks/ doors became inoperable and they do not open from inside or outside.problem occurred in both left and right rear door.since children ride in the back seats i think this situation is dangerous in case of an accident, significantly limiting chance to quickly leave vehicle.door locks became difficult to operate approximately in 2001 and failed completely in 2003.i contacted honda in fall 2003 about the problem, but honda rep did not show any concern about the problem and did not provide any advice.i documented the problem and i can provide photos of the rusted lock mechanism.currently the door locks operate ok after regular heavy lubrication.car is not exposed to a extreme corrosive environment, my residence is not by ocean and car is parked in a garage most of the time.

I purchased a used cr-v more than five years ago n and up until this summer have been exceptionally pleased with the vehicle.my complaintis regarding the rear door latch, which is now frozen and inoperable.unfortunately, this situationoccurred at the time the rear door was open, and took much time and muscling to even get the door latch to close.now it is permanently frozen in the closed position, allowing me to travel, but not to use the rear door.my sister also purchased a cr-v, after riding in mine.interestingly enough, the exact same situation has happened to her, with a complete latch failure on the rear door.her son, an auto mechanic, has determined the latch is completely corroded, and must be replaced.

Latches on three doors as well as the tailgate have locked up such that the doors either cannot be opened or cannot be closed. We had the first one fixed by the dealer for $400! and since then two others and the tailgate have slowly become problematic. This defect poses a significant problem, since if the door does not close, it cannot be driven safely.*la

The back door latch is no good.it no longer works to open and shut door.i have had another honda crv owner approach me to tell me that hers is the same way.the door becomes inoperable because this door latch rots.

1999 crv.my wife and i purchased the car new from anderson honda (now bloomfield honda; bloomfield hills, mi).my wife drives the car to and from her office.the vehicle now has 70,000 miles on it.it has performed mostly perfectly.about six months ago, the rear door latch would not close securely.i would have to manually set the latch mechanism prior to slamming it shut to secure it.i made arrangements to have the dealer check and correct the problem this week.they replaced the mechanism and charged me $173 ($40 for the part and $133 labor).they gave me the "old" part to examine.i am a graduate mechanical engineer and experienced in automotive corrosion issues.i was shocked at the condition of the handle assembly they replaced.it was in an advanced state of corrosion to the extent it was "frozen" shut due to corrosion.i have two issues with this:1.the location of the latch is mostly protected from the external elements and should not have corroded this much.i keep the car garaged.in the winter, i take it through a car wash perhaps twice/month.in other seasons i wash the car by hand also about twice/month.2.this is either a design problem or a quality problem.the reason i am calling it to your attention is that a safety issue may result due to the failure of the back door to latch securely.things and kids might fall from the rear door suddenly opening while the vehicle is being driven. You might want to look into this.

Vehicle stalls/cuts off without warning while driving in heavy city traffic.last occurence was 3/6/2016 and one before that was 12/19/2015. Supposedly there was a recall and repair done 6/7/2005. This is unsafe and dangerous.

While driving at 55 mph transmission would not change to a higher gear.consumertook vehicle to dealer, and dealer indicatedthat transmission was slipping and needed to be replaced. Please provide any further information.

I have a 1999 honda cr-v and have had problems with the transmission about 1.5 years after i bought it new.gears don't shift right, wouldn't go into gear, i had a new transmission installed and still have same problem.the major thing is the clear coat paint keeps peeling alot of little places, 2 areas are big & it's getting the actual paint and rusting.i did purchase (was dumb) the finishing touch system that get's done once a year (i don't really know what they do) and that could be the problem.

I have a 1999 honda crv and the transmission has been not going into gear like it should, and i have taken the crv to the dealership.they keep telling me that have to give it time to change gear. When i first purchased the crv it wasn't doing that so why is it doing it now. It has been doing this for the past three years.

The automatic transmission slams into first gear when slowing to a stop and not completely stopping, but rather, accelerating rapidly after slowing. I have taken it to the dealer and they replace a solenoid and drained and refilled the transmission 3 times. It was better but not eliminated. Then, on april 20, they replaced the ecm and thought they had it fixed. However, it again slammed into first gear as hard as ever. They initially offered to exchange the transmission, but seem to be shying away from that now. Additionally, it will not shift into overdrive for the first 10 minutes of driving when it is cold.

The contact owns a 1999 honda cr-v.while driving 40 mph, the vehicle failed.the vehicle was towed to a mechanic and he stated that the transmission failed and needed to be rebuilt.no repairs were made.the current and failure mileages were 94,000.

Major issues: extreme vibration in front suspension when starting out from a stop; even with automatic transmission the car rolls backward on the slightest incline when foot is taken off the brake pedal; the tires are very slippery on wet surfaces causing the car to slide and skid

The transmission went out, of my 1999honda cr-v with only 86,520 miles on the vehicle. It was shifting sluggishly even before the warranty expired, i just did not realize that it was not normal until i had a different transmission installed. I had the honda dealer service my cr-v regularly.the first problem i had was a noise when the all-wheel drive engaged in heavy snow in december of 2000. The dealer "replaced cvt fluid per transmission noise" according to the invoice. The cr-v had 26,375 miles at that service invoice date. The fluids were changed again at 30,000 miles. Check engine light came on at 65,000 miles and fluids were changed. At 72,000 miles the check engine light came on and fluids were changed again! finally at 86,495 miles the transmission was slipping and fluids were changed but at 86,520 the transmission would hardly shift to make it to the dealer and a used transmission was installed. Does honda stand behind their vehicles and offer any payment or extended warranty? i am in shock that my honda would have this problem with so few miles, after all the great reports i read before buying a honda!*nlm

The crv tends to pop out of gear--2nd gear and reverse.

The crv tends to pop out of gear--2nd gear and reverse.

Our 1999 honda cr-v lx required both front axles replaced at 40,900 miles.no explanation from the dealer as to how both front axles would fail (they were bent), let alone at 40,000+ miles.our own mechanic did some research and advised this is a known problem with this car but would not elaborate further.no technical service bulletin from honda and when again pressed the dealer advised, 'we must have hit something.'the was no such impact and if in fact we did "hit" something there would have been additional structural and or body damage as a result.*la

The seat belt sensorhas a failurethat would cause the belt not to retract in an accident.the sensor was replaced. The cause of the failure is undetermined.

My rather large mother-in-law fits in the front passenger seat fine, but the seat belts are too short to go around her. Honda does not provide seat belt extenders as do other manufacturers. I can not find 3rd party extenders either.

While stopped at a light, driver leaned from the driver's seat into the rear of the vehicle, and the front driver's seat fully reclined without warning.this impacts ability to control vehicle, and visibility.in addition, the front seat impacted the child seated directly behind the driver.

Takata recal trouble changing brake on braking and steering n suspension

Honda cr-v 1999 doesn't shift into 2 gear or 3rd like it use to.serpentine belts go out quick.the a/c isn't cool or cool enough and it's been checked.the 'd' drive symbol doesn't appear anymore like a fuse blew out or something.at times it'll appear as though my e brake is on when it's not.when the a/c is on, the vehicle rattles and or jumps like it wants to shut off.i believe it's a wiring issue as well.

The 1999 honda cr-v which i had leased from the dealer and delivered on march 9th, 1999 was brought in for service 5 timesfor a steering wheel vibration occuring at speeds between 47 and 52 mph.attempts were made to balance the tires on a least 4 occasions and i had been referred to the tire manufacturer for a possible tire defect and replacement of both front tires. The problem still persisted and the dealer rebalanced the tires once again but to no avail. A determination was made to take 4 tires of a similar vehicle with no wheel vibration and put them on my vehicle.this again did not solve the problem. The service department then decided to remove the front axle from my vehicle and replace it with that of the vehicle without the problem.this did not help. At this time, i requested that my vehicle to be returned to me and fileda defect notification form under florida's motor vehicle lemon law. American honda's representative has contacted me and has scheduled an appointment with their field engineer for november 16, 1999.i believe that 4 weeks is much to long to wait as this problem may result in a driving safety hazard.this vehicle is my primary source of transportation and as a disabled veteran it is needed for transportation to and from my regional va medical center. I had spoken to the dealership's general manager in an attempt to turn in this vehicle (which actually came from another dealership) for similar vehicle as an amicable solution to this situation but this was denied.

The contact owns a 1999 honda cr-v. While driving approximately 25 mph on an uneven road surface, a loud clunking noise emitted from the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and the contact was informed that the passenger side lower control arm fractured. In addition, the reinforcement cross brace would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact mentioned that ford issued a recall under nhtsa campaign number: 14v165000 (structure) pertaining to certain model vehicles. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.

The cup holders in the front under the radio and the ones in the middle of the front seats do not hold empty bottles properly. I have had empty cups or almost empty cups and bottles fall and go to my feet while driving to the point that it could have caused an accident if i had anyone in front of me. The cup holders are not deep enough and are too wide to keep anything in them in a turn things fall out to my feet. Those cup holders are not good at all. I do not have a safe place to put my drink in the car, that is very inconvenient and a safety hazard.

Yes just a couple of days ago someone took off the catarac converter from myvehicle, and i had to replace that with another one, and since than my vehicle has not been the same since, plus they also cut the oxygen cable also, what to do???

My car stalls while i'm driving.

Owner started vehicle, proceeded to put in reverse, put foot on brake and vehicle flew backwards at a tremendous rate of speed, struck vehicle in rear, then propelled forward at an extremely high rate of speed and hit vehicle in front, vehicle towed to dealership, crash caused by floor mat interfering with accelerator pedal, service bulletin (99-034) and recall (99e-015)for 96-98 civics. Good morning:we don't have an incident to report, however, i'm writing to inquire about the potential of an airbag defect in our honda. I've contacted (by phone) honda america and our local honda dealer with a promise of a return call, but none yet.your website mentioned that the vin# search for recalls covers the last 14 years. What about those of us who have a vehicle older than that? our crv was purchased over 15 years ago and i'm assuming it has a takata airbag but i can't find any information on how safe it is? if need be, i would even be willing to purchase a replacement for the driver and passenger bags but i need to know first if the current system is considered potentially faulty?can you help?many thanks,

Speed suddenly dropped/car died while accelerating around 70mph on fwy.fortunately was in the 2nd furthest ln to the right and could get to the shoulder.car has also died unexpectedly, without warning 2x while stopped at traffic lights in the last week.

I was driving on a dual highway at approx 55 mph, i took my foot off theacceleratorcoming into a reduced speed area and the car continued toaccelerate at a fast pace and high speed.i pulled into the center lane and applied brakes, the engine continued to run at full speed.i was able to reduce the speed to approx 45 mph and jammed the vehicle into park.the engine continued to roar.i did not turn the vehicle off until assistance arrived.i knew no one would beleive me.i had the car towed to the dealer where i purchased the vehicle.the dealer maintenance and sales personnelwittinessed the starting of the vehicle and the engine again continuing to roar at aroung 8,000 rpms immediately once the key was turned.i contacted honda american and was told they had no responsibility due to the vehicle being out of warranty.my car has been inspected by the dealer maintenance personnel and they have found no mechanical reason for this incident.the car stopped roaring as fast as it started.no one wants to touch my car, the dealer does not even want as a trade in due to thier fear.i am concerned this is a safety issue and would like to pursue the matter.hondas technical personnal still have not identified a reason for this problem.

While driving 35 mphaccelerator pedal stuck. After tapping pedal twice it became unstuck. Then, at 40 mph uphill pedal stuck again, after tapping pedal twice, vehicle did not slow down, consumer shifted to neutral, and shut off engine. Dealer replaced throttle cable.
