Loved my honda cr-v , but on march 20, 2006, i hit a slick spot while it was snowing. I proceeded to lose control of my vehicle, going into the ditch front first. Had a front impact, then began to flip 2-3 times once end to end and skidding 30+ feet. My seat belt held, but my airbags did not deploy, i could have died, and if there had been a passenger, they would have, the whole passenger side was caved in. This was how ever the only problem i had ever experienced with this car.car is a very reliable car.
The airbags in the 1998 honda crv's have been found to be defective with no remedy, which is absolutely unacceptable in a vehicle over 20 years old. This vehicle is used to transport my family and it is unbelievable that honda can allow such a fatal problem to go unsolved for so many years. They should be held accountable for any injuries sustained due to these dysfunctional airbags until they are able to replace said airbags without charge.

The battery went dead on my 1998 honda cr-v. I had it replaced, and discovered that the srs(safety restraint system was disabled as a result of determining that a new battery was needed. I contacted a honda service center and was told that as long as the srs light was on, the air bag system was off and that it would cost about $90 to have it turned off. I also was told to drive it for a week (without protection from the srs and perhaps the computer would recycle and turn the srs back on. My complaint is this: because of poor engineering of the srs system and the computer, honda has forced me to either drive a car without the safety that i bought, or pay a service center to enable the system...all over a real simple repair...replacing a battery. I can understand the need to reset the clock, radio, or other less essential electronics, but the air bags!honda is forcing me to spend money that i don't have in order to use a safety system that i feel is essential for driving safety. Honda should enable this system for me at no charge. Please help. Jim davis

Several years ago on mycarstate.com i found information that was helpful with my 1998 honda cr-v.but i haven't specifically seen information about this "next" issue.for the past year or so, on occasion, i can't get my car key out of the ignition switch.the car will not turn all the way off.i can't get the key to turn all the way to the left.if i restart the car, put it in any gear, move the car slightly (even an inch), turn the car off again, then i can remove the key.sometimes it takes a few minutes to do all this, so there is no leaving the car immediately.where this becomes a big issue is when i valet park the car.the valet's can't get the key out, therefore they either have to park my car near than and watch or park it elsewhere and i take my chances on the car not being entered by someone else. I'm 2 hours away from a honda dealer, i think.i'll try to find a dealer this week, as the problem seems to get worse in this colder weather.any help would be appreciated.
The contact owns a 1998 honda cr-v. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred when driving over a bump. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The technician stated that the vehicle was previously serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 02v120000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 172,000.
Without warning our 1998 honda crv (112k miles) died one afternoon while wife was taking kids to the pool. There was no warning signs or dash lights to warn of a problem. The engine stopped. Fortunately she was waiting for the light to change at an intersection with no traffic behind her. Vehicle started again after a minute and she was able to get it to the pool lot. After a few attempts, engine would start, but just caught off. Vehicle was towed to local mechanic who first assumed it was a bad distributor. After reviewing possible causes on internet, our mechanic found complaints about faulty ignition switches. Fortunately this was the problem and could be replaced. Honda dealer said they had replaced 4 of these switches in the last 4 weeks. Prior to this car ran fine, except one morning my wife discovered when she turned the key in the ignition, the dash lights flickered and there was a series of rapid clicks before engine started. This was several months before this incident. Mechanic has replaced the defective switch and car starts and runs fine. Honda should warn owners of older model crv's that this switch should be replaced after 100k miles. We were lucky car was not moving in traffic when this happened, as you have little control when engine shuts off and steering is difficult and dangerous.
I am complaining about an ignition problem on a 98 honda crv. My car has 97,000 miles on it. I am filing this complaint because honda should have informed every owner that these switches were failing on almost all of their vehicles. This causes your car to stall randomly in traffic. It is a hazard. We owners deserved to know that this ignition switch was failing on all their cars. I would have replaced it before it stalled permanently in downtown ironwood if i had been informed. It is not expensive to repair but the symptoms are a mystery to any mechanic who has not read about this problem. I was fortunate enough to find a web page posted by a kind soul who explained what was happening to all these hondas.http://www.visualimpressions.ca/switch/i hope you can kick honda in the pants and make them inform their owner and just as importantly their dealers. Can you believe, their dealers have not been informed.
Night time driving hazardthis is a definite electrical safety problem:i experience a complete loss of lights when i switch to high beam:>(1)my headlights turn off>(2)the hi-beam never turns ona complete black-outi was on a sharp curve in my first incident when i flicked to hi-beam.fortunatelymy driving experience kept me out of an accident.
The contact owns a 1998 honda cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times without warning. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics whom were unable to provide a permanent solution. A dealer mentioned that there was an electrical recall repair performed to replace the starter before the contact owned the vehicle. The dealer (avalon honda, 100 avalon blvd, cape may court house, nj 08210, (877) 515-6611) stated that the vehicle would need to be further inspected and diagnosed to determine the cause of the failure. The vin was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I saw this has a recall, but when i typed in my vin into your system it says '0 recalls.' i have all the issues happening for this recall and i was wondering how to proceed.
Dt: the contact ownsa 1998 honda crv. She states that the mechanic is unable to find a problem with her vehicle. But while she is driving it doesn't matter what speedcar will shut off. She has seen other complaints on nhtsa website for this problem.
The contact owns a 1998 honda cr-v. The contact stated the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 02v120000 (electrical system), however the failure recurred. A dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
See this link for full detail: http://www.visualimpressions.ca/switch/my car cut out without warning on the freeway--repeatedly. After much false repair and frustration, i found above link describing faulty ignition switch that honda apparently knows about but does nothing about. I contacted local honda dealer and they said no recall.
1998 honda crvstalls at highway speeds and at city speeds... Highway speeds are particularly dangerous in that should i have been overtaking a vehicle when mine stalled it could have created a horrific accident and fatalitiesstarted at about 130,000 km happened 4 times without notice. Ignition switch was failing... Replaced at a cost of $65 for the part plus 1 hour labor @ !00.plus shop supplies and taxes.the old part is available.
This letter is a follow-up to honda regarding a letter i had submitted on february 26, 2014. June 10, 2014i was contacted by a honda customer service representative regarding the letter outlined below and was told that there was no assistance available from honda despite safety concerns. I was also told by the local honda dealership that there have been issues with ignition/igniters with honda crvs (especially the 98 crv which included a recall in 2002 for this very issue) and that i can go ahead and replace the ignition switch at a cost of approximately $200 plus labor (for a known defect). I had this work done approximately a year and a half ago and the issue continues as the vehicle will shut down while driving and will restart after sits.unfortunately, this is a vehicle that not only do i drive on open highways but my daughter drives as well. In light of the recent events with a similar issue with gm vehicles, i would ask that my situation be given additional consideration.
The contact owns a 1998 honda cr-v. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 02v120000 (electrical system). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they stated that would perform the repair; however, they would have to disable the alarm. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
When vehicle is running, and in motion, the engine will suddenly stop.once stopped, i can start it right back up.touching the keys in the ignition switch may cause the same behavior.
My wife called around 8:15pm on wednesday 12-01-2010. She told me her car just stopped on the road. She gave me info of her whereabouts. I was only about 5 minutes away thank goodness. As i approached her vehicle i saw in my horrified state her car stalled 30 to 40 feet from the nearest stop light on the far left lane. She was able to stay on an island in the middle of the busy street with my 5 year old daughter!. I parked my car to their right and ran across the street when it was cleared. My brother was behind her with his car with emerg. Lamps on. My wife also had her emerg. Lamps on and i tried starting the car. You could hear it start up but the engine would not kick on. With the help of my brother in law i finally put car in neutral through that bypass switch and we pushed it to the other side of the lane to the right where we could be out of harms way of the violent on coming traffic. I had a close call on the last lane on the right when a on coming car nearly hit the car and my brother in law who was pushing in the back. I called a mechanic i knew a he showed up about 10-15 minutes. He asked for what exactly happened and my wife told him the car just stopped and stalled out of no where. She said the engine and battery indicator lights went on as well. She turned off the ignition and tried to start the crv again and she says alot mort indicating lights turned on but can't remember which ones. My mechanic looked under the hood and told me to start up the car. I started it and low and behold it started up! from the story my wife told him he instantly blamed the ignition wire>>?>?. I told him to come with me to kragens but he said "no, you can only get it at the dealers. I had talked to co-workers and classmates and one said to look for safety issues online while i had one classmate say he had a similar problem with his acura, the luxury brand for honda! my wife's ride is a honda crv 98. Very unsafe situation that my wife and my 5 year old daughter survived! }: [[

I am the owner of a 1998 honda cr-v, which i purchased new. The vehicle had no serious performance issues until september 2008. At this time my daughter, who was driving the vehicle, began to experience isolated occurrences during which the cr-v would stall while in motion. These incidents were at first infrequent.my daughter took the vehicle to a local garage. There, the mechanics replaced the battery, believing that to be the problem. However, these incidents persisted, resulting in the cr-v being taken to two different garages in the statesboro, georgia area. Mechanics had difficulty in diagnosing the trouble because of the irregularity of the quixotic events. During the week of december 8, 2008, the stalling of the vehicle became more persistent, prompting my daughter to return the vehicle to the local garage once again. Upon further research of the matter, the mechanics informed her that the problem was the cr-v's key lock ignition switch, and that the particular item fit the paramters of a honda recall item. My daughter scheduled an appointment for december 13, 2008 at the nearest honda dealer, savannah honda, which was two hours away.however, on december 9, 2008, the cr-v experienced this problem three times. The final stalling-out occurrence resulted in the vehicle's inability to be restarted. The entirety of this event was occasioned on a major highway. The vehicle had to be towed to the nearest garage which, as noted on the attached invoice, was statesboro garage.there, mechanics replaced the key lock ignition switch before the precarious operation of the vehicle could lead to still more disastrous mishaps. This recall item resulted in a total bill of $245.77 plus the cost of towing. Though a honda owner, i have never received any notification of this particular recall. This particular problem is to be considered very serious, and could have resulted in loss of life. I await your response to this very serious matter.
While driving my 1998 honda cr-v i noticed power surges and deeming of lights. The car ultimately shut down.it started right back up and i drove it to a local mechanic. He looked it over hooked it up to his computer and got a reading that the solenoid on the transmission was going bad. He thought this was incorrect and suggested maybe something else was wrong. He drove the car for a while and nothing happened. He suggested i drive the car and let him know if something went wrong.later that day as i was driving home from work solder dropped from under the dash onto my foot.tuesday morning i had the car towed to the same mechanic that looked at it on friday. He was shocked that something under the dash could get that hot and not catch on fire. He looked under the dash and discovered that it was the ignition switch that had got so hot that it began to melt the solder. He called cale yarborough honda in florence to get a new ignition switch. We received the part and the mechanic put it in and the car seems to be running fine. The part that startles me the most is that the car belongs to my wife and i just happened to be driving it when the problems occurred. The biggest problem i have is that if my wife would have been driving the car and hot solder would have fallen on her foot and burned her it could have possibly caused her to wreck. She always wears slip on shoes and her foot would not have been protected like my foot was. Even with shoes on it startled me enought to drive off the road. It is disturbing to me what could have happened if she were driving the car. I contacted honda and told them of the incident and they said my complaint would go to a review board and if it warrented looking into they would contact me. I am writing you because this has the potential to be fatal if this happens to someone else. I would hate to know someone got killed because solder dropped on someone's foot and caused a serious accident.
Dt:consumer owns a 1998 honda crv. She saidthe vehicle just shut off. This happened several times in the last three months. When it shut down vehicle was in traffic a couple different times, and this almost caused an accident. The vehicle shut down on august 15, 2005 while she was in traffic on hilton avenue in baltimore maryland. She was almost struck in the rear, she did not panic, put onemergency flashers, notifying the traffic she was having problems. The contactwas not hit, but it did scare her. When this happened the vehicle shuts down, and it appeared to shut down everything electrical. The flashers were the only thing sheworking. She placed the vehicle in park and putfoot on the brakes then had to try twice before vehicle would start.when vehicle was on level ground or facing up hill it usually would notstart as quickly. Had to pat the gas a few times and tried to start vehicle a couple times before it will start. When vehicle was on a hill it seemed to start back much easier, if vehicle was facing down hill she does not have to pump gas or try as many times to start vehicle. She was aware of a recall 02v120000 on same make/model and year concerningelectrical system ignition switch.she has not yet checked with honda to see if this vehicle wasincluded in this recall. She became aware of this recall when she took vehicle to a garage and had a diagnostic check . The check would not register any codes, the vehicle did shut down on the mechanic, but no codes came up.

I recently read the press regarding fires starting underneath honda crvs.last year, following an oil change, i was stopped at a light and heard people screaming at me from their cars-there was a fire under my car.i quickly pulled over and, by then, the fire was out.i immediately drove back to my mechanic-they examined the car, which still smelled of smoke, but they were stumped.the garage is very reputable and aaa rated.i recently read another article that indicated nhtsa reopened an investigation of this problem.my car is a 1998-i believe this problem is more widespread than the 2003-2004 models. I'm extremely concerned whenever my oil is changed.this problem should be rectified by honda-quickly.

The vehicle lost power while driving on the highway and drove roughly.dealer discovered a burnt #3 valve in the engine to be the cause of the problem.the check engine warning light had come on before the lost of power and rough running occurred. *scc
We were normally driving the vehicle when a strange noise started under the hood. Upon investigation you could observe the main pulley wobbling. The vehicle was immediantely brought to a repair facility. Upon inspection it was found that the bolt from the main pulley into the crankshaft was damaged. When a wrench was placed on the bolt it broke off. It was apparent that this bolt was installed stripped which resulted in this failure. Pictures of the bolt are available. The vehicle was towed to a honda dealership. After numerous phone calls, honda usa did agree to split the cost to replace the crankshft. My share was $1270.09. I realize that the warranty was 36 months / 36000 miles and the vehicle did achieve this. But at 46579 miles and 72 months a main component on a properly maintained vehicle should not fail. Particularly when it is apparent the bolt responsible for this was incorrectly installed or failed.
While trying to make a stop vehicle stalled wiithout any indication. Please provide further informaton.
Engine repaired on four occasions due to hesitation and problems, unable to be rectified. Mjs
1998 hond cr-v ngine trouble. Flashing warning light at 101k miles.burnt #3 exhaust valve and tight valve clearances on all exhaust valves. Noticed that there are a few cr-v's in the 1999 and 2000 with this problem, all due to poor wording in the maintenance section of the owner's manual. All they reccommend is to check valves at 105k miles and adjust them if the engine is noisy.
While traveling at highway speed of 60-65 mph the vehicle shut down without any indication, every thing went dead; dealer notified and informed that the problem was due to the ignition switch, which was replace. Feel free to provide any further information concerning this matter.
There isvibration in the entire vehicle due toengine valve failure.dealership has continuously replacedengine valve, but the cause of the failurewas undetermined.
Vehicle was taken for emissions test and failed. Mechanic determined that a new catalytic converter was needed. Consumer notified manufacturer to see if any recalls were issued. No recalls were available pertaining to this.
Consumer states engine light illuminates, and vehicle is making a clicking noise and jerking while driving. Took vehicle to dealer, dealer replaced catalytic converter.
Air conditioner does not cool the car if the outside temp is above 90degrees,the back seat is 80degrees,i was told to install tint on the windows, thats all that can be done.
I saw this has a recall, but when i typed in my vin into your system it says '0 recalls.' i have all the issues happening for this recall and i was wondering how to proceed.
I am not the owner of the crv, i was involved in an accident with one.i am writing to complain about the poor and hazerdous design of the "cpillar mounted rear lights".by most accounts the crv is a great vehicle to own.it is another matter completely if you have the misfortune of following one in traffic, as i did, if you own a car.you see, there are no rear tail lights at the bottom of this vehicle and not even a cyclops light in the center of it. Instead, there is a lovely tire proudly displaying the honda logo.their websites even boast about that nice wrap-around look in the back, they just don't tell the consumer that this is an accident waiting to happen with your name on it because they have failed to put in lights on the bottom so lower riding vehicles can see them. In a low car or with a sun visor down, one cannot see any lights at all where one would reasonably expect them to be, instead they are at the top sides of the vehicle on the "older" models. This poor, unconscionable, and hazerdous design in the name of looks must be fixed.
This spring, while driving on the interstate my 1998 honda cr-v suddenly stalled.no warning at all.luckily, i was able to pull to the shoulder.turn the ignition off, wait a while and restart the car without another problem.a week or so later the same thing happened on local roads once one day and twice another day.each time, i was blessed to be able to get to the center turn lane or off onto the shoulder without getting rear ended.it happened several more times before we could figure this out.my mechanic checked out the car and could find nothing "wrong".he looked on this site nhtsa and found the ignition switch recall.i took it to a curry honda in chamblee, ga and they fixed it and the tail light assembly harness recall also.i've referred a few folks back to this site for future reference.thanks, you may have saved my life.btw- i love my cr-v!!!.
While parked the vehicle was pushed from behind by a car getting out of a parking space. The push was enough to send the tail pipe forwrd into the fuel tank causing a 1.5 inch deep dent in the fuel tank and totally trashing the exhaust system. Had this been a rear ender on a freeway it seems that this pipe can easily puncture the fuel tank causing a firey death at very least. I believe this problem to be as serious as the ford pinto fuel tank problem of years past!
I was driving normally, going 47mph & accelerating as i was about to merge into traffic on high way, when my cars engine suddenly died. I dident even notice at first because it happened suddenly and quietly. I only noticed because the steering locked up and i found it very difficult to turn the wheel. I was able to put on my hazard lights and stop the car on the side of the freeway. Car would not run since this happened. Car will start but die on idel. Have replaced starter, main relay, ignition, spark plugs and have had 4 auto shops look at it and still no one can figure out the issue..
The latch on the gate that locks the glass back window into place is covered in a white plastic that falls apart from sun exposure.this causes the metal part mounted in the glass window that you push into the latch on the gate to rattle . The glass window closes but the whole glass is lose, not tight. On the interstate this starts the glass to rattle and i am afraid of what will happen if i have to slam my brakes on at higher speeds since the glass is not secure. I talked with a independent mechanic and he said that this was the same problem that ford had with the explorers that caused them to be recalled.i though i should bring it your attention because that recall talked about how the glass shattered and covered the people in the car with glass fragments while driving. Please check into this. Unless you really pay attention, you wouldn't notice the plastic falling off the locking device and that the window is not secure.
2 power driven door locks (passenger & driver side) on a 1998 honda crv have both failed.the failure was the inability to enter the vehicle (driver side) or exit the vehicle (driver and passenger).both locks needed to be replaced within 6 months (feb - aug '04). Additionally, the hatch lock also failed and needed replacement.speaking with american honda and since the mileage is 125 - 130k miles, they indicated there was nothing they could do as well as they had no recalls on the vehicles.the dealership however had indicated that there have been intermittent problems with locks requiring repair.
Consumer stated theback door latch was broken.this has been slowly deteriorating for about two months. Consumer consultedmechanic and was told it would cost approximately $200.00 since it was not on recall.the consumer believed it was a defect. *ph
The hatch door latch of my 98 honda crv is broken. This has been slowly deteriorating for some time, and is now completely defective.only the glass hatch window is holding the door shut.the vehicle/hatch door have not withstood any extreme or unusual use, nor has that part of the vehicle sustained damage in an accident.this is a safety defect that the manufacturer should investigate and repair.*la
The transmission goes into neutral by itself and no gears work at all until you turn it off and restart it then it will move a short distance and do it again it happened on the freeway and i almost had an accident.
Transmission is not shifting correctly. Contacted dealer, and dealer is not willing to do anything.
The cruise control / automatic transmission system of the 1998 honda cr-v have a potentially danderous problems.when the system is on cruise control @ 60-75 mph and encounters resistance, such as climbing a steady slope, the transmission shifts, causing very high engine rpms.the rpms hold at 5 to 6.5 thousand for an extended amount of time before the transmission shifts back to fourth gear, returning the rpms to a safe level.this high rpm level must do damage to engine at times exceeding the red line.
The consumer stated that there is a problem with the transmission, and needs to be replaced.the consumer feels that this is an issue with honda's.scc
When trying to acceleratetransmission would start to slip, and consumer would have trouble moving the vehicle. Contacted dealer, anddealer was not willing to do anything.
Intermittently vehicle jerked forward when accelerating. This was due to transmission failure. The insurance adjuster indicated that water got into the transmission. Then, transmission was replaced. However, the problemrecurred. *mr
Transmission slips violently out of gear once the engine is warm up, and the rpm's go over 2700 occurs during acceleration ( from a stop or when merging/passing on the highway) and when trying to maintain speed up incline. The rapid acceleration when the car slip out of gear on the highway and especially on incline on the highway and local street send all the surrounding drivers into evasive maneuvers to avoid collision. This event occurs when the car get warmed up (after about 35-40 minutes of driving. Car is being send to a an auto repair shop for repair awaiting the final verdict to charge me about $ 6000 for a brand new transmission. As far as a safety concerned my car slipped out of gear on my way to work on fwy 101 northbound (wooland hill / topanga)going up an incline in heavy rush hour morning traffic moving at approx 60-70 mph. Several cars had to drive onto the shoulder and i had to go into the median grass to avoid a massive rear end collision during morning rush hour. It is disturbing though to know that is such a rampant problem with this transmission for honda's passenger car. It will occur rapidly and without warning. My car is honda cr-v ex and had 210,000 miles on it.

Front rotors go out every 3500 miles.very bad vibration--i'm on forth set of rotors now.every set does same thing.. Act like there warped but honda can't find anything wrong with them.dangerous at higher speeds--vibrates so bad you can't see.hard to control
Honda 98 crv and 97 civic both have had the pad (that is what is called, $4 part) break and this causes the brake lights to stay on while driving. Driver has no warning and driving with the brake lights on causes the people behind the driver to slam their brakes on at higher speeds which can cause a accident. A worker at the dealer told me that they are seeing a lot of cars this age have this breakage and it doesn't seem to have to do with usage (both cars have less then 50,000 miles on them). The broken pieces turn yellow thus i think they cannot take high heat and fail because the heat breaks them down. I fixed the problem by buying a new part and have the pieces if you would like them of the old part. I am concerned that peoples lives are being put in danger becausea cheap plastic was used instead of one that was made for conditions inside a car.
While driving in snowy weather, consumer heard loud noises and the abs failed to perform properly when applied. Dealer was contacted.. The truck did not stop in slippery conditions while the abs was active, consumer disabled the abs by removing the pump and the braking was normal.
While driving at 40/45mph on freeway suddenly slammed on brakes, and brakes failed to respond, vehicle slideabout 100 feet, rear ending other vehicle.contacted dealer.
The front rotors warped prematurely. As a result, when applying the brakes from a high speed, thefront end shook violently, making steering difficult.
The brake pedal and the clutch pedal are placed too far apart; over 5 inches.
1998 honda crv with abs problem. Consumer states that when depressing the brake pedal the accelerator also became engaged almost overriding the brakes.
While driving consumer was attempting to make a right turn and steering locked up inright turn position. To get steering wheel releasedvehicle had to be turned off and restarted. Dealer has been contacted.
While drivingthere was a noise, and the steering wheel malfunctioned, causingloss of vehicle control. *ml
Steering wheel design on vehicle is on an angle, possible design flaw which could result in injury if air bag deploys at an angle.

Steering wheel tilted towards left & up. This causes location of air bag to be pointed towards door. Been to dealer's at least 3 different times & was informed steering wheel was made & assembled that way.
Vehicle was manufactured in japan.knuckle arm broke, causing left front tire to come off, andresulting in loss of vehicle control and an accident.honda says that failure was due to driver error, owner maintains that it was a defect.*ml

The connecting bolts for the catalytic converter shield had corroded and caused the shield to fall off and dragged on the road while consumer was driving. The dealer was unwilling to replace the shield.
While in motion, the heat shield that covers the catalytic converter fell off, the four bolts that hold the sheild in place had corroded.the dealer refused to replace it because of the mileage.consumer explains that when the vehicle was refused service it was well within the waranty period.consumer feels this is a dangerous situation because a fire could develop due to defective materials.*jg
Consumer states the heat shield that covers the catalytic converter is made of stainless steel.the four connecting bolts which are made of ordinary steel has corroded.as a result the shield fell off while driving and dragged on the road.all four bolts had rusted away.the dealer and manufacturer refused to replace it under the federal emissions warranty.
While drivingvehicle continued to pull to the right at any giving spee.; vehicle been in / out of dealer shop on three occasions, problem still occurring.
Dt*: the contact stated when the vehicle was taken to an independent certified mechanic for the regular service brakes, the front of the vehicle was lifted up and the mechanic noticed the suspension dropped down.the contact was alerted by the mechanic because of the seriousness of the defect, and referred the contact to a dealership technician.the dealership informed there was no recall for the defect.the manufacturer was contacted, who referred the contact to the service manager.when the service manager was notified, an estimate from a body shop was requested.the body shop refused to provide an estimate because this was a structural matter which was not performed at a body shop.the dealership recommended not driving the vehicle on highways or off the road.the independent certified mechanic was going to provide an estimate but the service manager discouraged the contact because the repairs would not be covered by the dealership.
Whenever going over a bump/ pulling out of a driveway, or small curb there isclunking noise.consumer feels it coming fromfront suspension. Consumer has yet to contact dealer. Please provide any further information.
Vehicle pulls to the right since 1 week old - honda cannot fix.
The dealer informed consumer, that a complete overhaul of the rear suspension was needed.

On dec 18, 2000 about 5:00pm my wife geeta rastogi was driving home from work. She was waiting at the traffic light on md highway 28 in rockville to turn left on to darnestowne rd. When traffic light changed for her to move and turn left, she heard a big blast and her front left wheel jumped the curve. She with great difficulty drove to a safe place on the right hand side, got out of the car and found that her left front tire had blown a 2"x4" piece. A montgomery county police woman and a citizen helped geeta to replace the tire with full size spare. We bought a new tire of same type and size from a local olson tire store next day. I would like to know if nhtsa has received any other complaints about this tire from other consumers. Thanks. (tiresize: 205/70r/15)( dot number:tire size: 205/70r/15 )

I am the original owner of a 1998 honda cr-v.i was never notified by honda that there is an extended warranty on my vehicle due to a faulty door lock actuator in the driver's door. I don't understand why i was not contacted regarding the recall.i just happened to see that there is one that expires on november 1, 2015.i am asking that i be given the opportunity to take my vehicle in for the repair free of charge because the manufacturers failed to notify me.

The contact owns a 1998 honda crv. The contact was reversing out of her driveway and when shifting to drive, the vehicle abnormally accelerated without driver intent. During the failure, the contact's foot remained firm on the brake pedal but the vehicle would not stop. The vehicle crashed through a stop sign and proceeded to crash into a mailbox and then a nearby tree, knocking it down before coming to a stop. The air bags deployed and the owner sustained lacerations and bruises to the mouth. The ambulance and police responded to the crash. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the contact was awaiting further inspection of the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximately failure and current mileage were 135,000. The vin was unavailable.
The accelerator cord was stuck causing the brakes to fail, consumer also tried to use the emergency brake but it did not stop the car either. Nlm
