I was involved in a major car accident on the freeway involving my 2017 honda civic. Traffic was at a slow/stop on the freeway and a tahoe collided into my vehicle. I was sandwiched in-between a nissan titan and chevy tahoe. My car was totaled and sustained significant damage to both the front and back. Despite this major impact, none of my airbags deflated.
Driver and passenger airbags both deployed in due to a very minor accident. The honda was just coming out of a stop so the speed couldn't have been more than 5-10 miles per hour. The front bumper shows no significant damage to warrant the deployment of the airbags. Neither one of the passengers was hurt except for minor burns on the hand of the driver due to the deployment of the airbag. It seems that the airbag were deployed needlessly.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While the vehicle was stationary, the passenger side air bag failed to register an occupant seated in the passenger seat. Gunn honda (14610 i-10, san antonio, texas 78249) was not able to duplicate the failure. The dealer, however, disconnected the sensor cable in the front passenger seat and reconnected it, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was designed in that manner. The failure mileage was approximately 11,500.
Passenger air bag will not deploy by design when someone who does meet weight criteria is seated. This is a 2017 honda civic 5-door purchased new in dec. 2016 & has had this issue since purchase. Per honda & honda servicing dealers the sensor is designed to deactivate passenger air bag if weight threshold not met. My wife is 5 ft. 5 in. & approx. 125 pounds, & whenever she is seated the air bag indicator is off. Per honda & honda servicing dealer the 4 ways to deal with this are : 1. Move front seat all the way back ( no air bag function ). 2. Have her sit in back seat. 3. Not have her in car at all. 4. Get another vehicle that has functioning passenger air bag. These are official repair solutions per honda tech support & honda servicing dealer.
Since we got the car, december 2017, the air bag off warning light comes on intermittently, about 8 times since we got it and twice in october, while my wife is seated in the front passenger seat. Two dealers say nothing is wrong and honda says if they can't find anything wrong they won't start replacing parts until the problem goes away. Which i find unacceptable for safety equipment. I can not have the airbag fail if we were to get in a collision.
Is been more 1 year wish i received the letter for honda and the problemwith the air bags no fix i call many times to the dealer no respond
Checking for defects
I was burned on my left arm as a result of the airbag deploying. I could not see out of the windows after the airbags deployed. The vehicle was going appropriately 10-15 mph while turing left onto a hwy when it was hit by another vehicle
Potential taketa recall.july 14, 2018. I had made a left hand turn into the parking lot of a local convenience store. Time was approximately 7 p.m.as i pulled into the parking spot, the drivers side front tire bumped the curb.the drivers side center airbag, located in the steering wheel did not deploy. It exploded! i thought someone had rammed into my car. When the airbag blew, it sounded like someone had fired a couple of 12 guage shotguns in the vehicle.smoke was billowing out from the left and right sides of the steering wheel and column. It smelled like something electrical was on fire. The impact from the exploding airbag was not a pleasant experience to say the least.by the time i unbuckled my seat belt to exit the car, the smoke inside the vehicle was so thick i could not see out the windshield. My chest and hand are sore, but nothing appears to be broken. I left the vehicle where it was parked and have made arrangements to have it towed to the local dealershiop where i purchased the car, so that a complete evaluation can be done to determine the extent of damage to the vehicle that resulted from the exploding airbag. When i checked the vin on this website, it did not come up as being on the airbag recall. That needs to change asap. Thank goodness i was the only person in the vehicle. I shudder to think of what could have happened if there were passengers in the vehicle when that airbag blew!
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While driving approximately 30 mph, another vehicle suddenly drove in front of the contact's vehicle. The incident caused the contact to t-bone the vehicle in front. The air bags deployed; however, the driver's air bag did not deploy in a forward direction. Instead, the air bag deployed in a downward direction. The seat belt also failed to retract and locked up, causing the contact to lunge forward. A police report was filed. The vehicle was driven away from the scene. The contact received injuries to the arm, chest, and knee areas. Medical attention was needed. The contact called valley honda (4173 ogden avenue, aurora, il 60504; 630-851-5700) and was informed that his insurance company needed to investigate and diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened case number: 263430505; however, the contact had not received a response. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000. Consumer stated he would like an investigation of the failure of the airbag and seatbelt. Updated 8/6/18

2017 honda civic ex hatchback. 22371 miles. Rt. Frt. Pass. Air bag will not deploy in event of accident due to " smart design ". Per honda dealer, seat sensor is not detecting weight threshold when anyone sits who are not heavy enough. My wife is 5' 4" & approx. 117 lbs. I am 5' 5" & approx. 115 lbs. Neither one of us can sit & turn off srs off warning. Also per dealer this is a safety design as if airbag deploys the force can injure or worse the person sitting there if not of correct weight. My wife will not be protected at any time she sits in front. Dealer advised that seat be moved far back as possible or have her sit in the back seat. Also, the seat side air bag and/or side curtain system should still provide some protection. Otherwise, no trouble code (s) are present & system operating normally & within design parameters. Not comfortable with my wife being unprotected in event of incident & she is not looking forward to being required to sit in the back seat.
Numerous nhtsa reports have been to waste as nothing is done. This 2017 honda civic ex hatchback continues to have electrical glitches since bought new in dec. 2017. No problem (s) found. No codes. Unable to duplicate. Etc. Etc. Honda refuses to deal with this defective vehicle & servicing honda dealers do not want this piece of crap honda in their shops. Honda claims they have legal right to cancel all new vehicle warranties on this vehicle & owner cannot do anything legally about this. No us federal agency has any control what honda does in the us. Honda has become arrogant & abusive towards honda customers & does not care.
Already specify what has the airbags the brakes, the seats.and he still manages it
Motor vehicle collision on freeway going68 mph speed upon impact by another vehicle, orbital eye fracture, split forehead, airbag may have deployed late
Passenger front airbag is deactivated when my wife or i sit in the seat. Per honda dealer neither one of us meet sensor criteria to activate air bag. American honda will not assist nor respond to this issue. The servicing dealer recommends having wife move seat all the way back or sit in the back seat. This issue is considered normal & within design criteria. Passenger front airbag will never deploy in an accident whenever someone sits & weight does not activate airbag.
The head unit/display stopped working about a week ago. At first, nothing would come on. I thought it may have been a fuse, or it needed rebooted. I disconnected the battery and it still continued to act up. The back-up and passenger side cameras won't work properly, the climate controls won't work as i can't change the air flow or temperature, the bluetooth won't work or connect, and the audio controls won't work or are severely delayed. This creates multiple safety issues while driving: 1. The audio will randomly turn on, and at high volumes due to the fact that i cannot control the volume or turn it on or off. 2. The back-up and/or side cameras will get stuck on the screen, which creates a distraction while driving. 3. The bluetooth won't work, which is a huge safety concern due to 'hands-free' laws in most states. 4. The climate controls won't work correctly and, therefore, i cannot use the front defrost. When taken to the honda dealership, they claim that it will cost $4,000 to replace. $4,000 on a 3-year old vehicle, with no other major issues.
While driving my car will put the brakes on if another care passes me on drivers side. This did it for a few weeks, then the collision mitigation system light came on and will not clear.cruise will not work.this has happened before, but never with light staying on.
My honda civic 2017 car was in my drivewaynot moving when i turned the car on and all my warning lights came on and i had no power steering. I had my car towed to honda and they saw that my sub wiring harness was chewed which caused the problem. Honda says this wiring is made from soy based material which attracts rodents. They replaced the wiring and it cost me 268.00 dollars. The part itself was only 28.00 dollars. This then happened to me again exactly 2 weeks later with the same problem. I had to have the car towed again. This time i found out there is a fix for this. A spicy tape that honda makes that can be wrapped around the wiring to resist rodents i don't know how effective this is.they said they don't have the tape.. I am currently waiting to see what they are going to do since they know about this problem and my car is in the shop again going on the 2nd day. Ther is a class action suite that was filed for this very same reason. This dates all the way back to 2010 i was told.
Soy based wiring attracting rodents to chew my wiring of vehicle. Hundreds of similar complaints i found.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While the vehicle was in motion, the warning indicators and gauges flickered on the instrument panel. The vehicle stalled and the steering wheel seized when the failure occurred. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to findlay honda (7494 w azure dr. Las vegas, nv 89130, (702) 982-4200) who was unable to replicate the failure after several test drives. A video that showed how the failure occurred was shown to the dealer, but still no diagnosis was made. In addition, while connecting the bluetooth to the vehicle's electrical system, it failed to connect. The contact had to turn the vehicle off and back on in order for the bluetooth function to connect. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that a field technician would be sent to the dealer for further diagnostic testing. The contact was awaiting a response from the manufacturer to determine if they could provide a remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 5,500.
During driving of the vehicle and at various speeds all electrical systems will fail and all warning lights come on. This includes abs, traction control, power steering, brake assist and more. When this occurs the vehicle becomes almost impossible to steer and has nearly resulted in an accident before.while the previous occurrence happened at approximately 35mph if this occurred on the interstate it would almost certainly result in a major crash and injury.
Electronic braking failure and miscellaneous electric glitches. Automatic parking brake system failure warning light and brakes are locked in park. I have had 3 different electric glitches. First less than 2 weeks of purchasing my 2017 civic turn signal was stuck on and would not turn off. Second 1 month after dash screen would not load. It was "buffering / thinking" took it to and dealer couldn't find the cause but fixed with a hard reset and it started working again and checked for software updates and it was current. Third problem a 2 weeks later, started the car and got brake failure warning light and check engine light. Car wouldn't move parking brakes locked up. Tried to push the brake hold and parking brake to manually disengage but wouldn't. Had it towed to the honda dealership. They did a second hard reset. I question if my civic was part of the 2016 / partial 2017 recall for electric glitch that included the parking brake issue.
On june 13th, less then a month after it was inspected/serviced from the honda dealership on may 21st, my 3 year old car busts up in flames. As we were driving down a rural road on a clear day going about 65, a spark flew from the engine. The oil pressure light comes on followed by loss of power to the car. Luckily we pulled over just in time to watch the car go up in flames and explode. I have contacted 3 dealerships, including their service team, honda financial, honda general, and the honda plant in indiana. Every one of them has shown no compassion or interest in finding out why this happened. Does it take someone to die to take this serious? and my insurance is taking their time since it is a total loss.
My 2017 honda civic ex-t coupe shuts down my digital screen and audio system with the message "amp is in protection mode" this then makes any hands free devices turn completely off from the car. This is a safety issue because in my state, cell phones and any other form of electronics are not permitted. So when being on the phone or using gps it shuts everything down and thats a major safety concern. I recently went to many honda dealers and they have contacted honda north america but they told me honda does not know what the problem could be and that they recalled the 2016 honda civics for a similar issue, but since they didn't recall the 2017 honda civics then there is nothing they can do. This problem is stressing me out because i can't follow the directions on my gps or answer important calls if needed. Also i went to audio techs who told me this is the most bizarre situation they've ever experienced. I do not think it is fair for me to pay all of this money on my new car (only owned for 3 months). I am also a first time buyer and this makes me regret ever buying a car! the vehicle is on for a few minutes and then the message occurs and then shuts off everything. I even got my whole audio system and amp taken out for further tests and no-one seems to know. If you guys can help in anyway to recall the 2017 civics with this issue that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Key-less start system problem.... Car has 55000 miles and has been serviced at local honda dealer on time every time.car will start up in accessory mode after being turned off and goes into alarm. To turn off alarm i have to use door key.keyless remote does not work during the alarm stage and will work after restarting car.i have to unhook battery to keep car from alarming. I have already had remote replaced and reprogrammed. I have to go through a new system reset every time i use the car. Honda could not finda code error. I am concerned this is a major and dangerous problem with the electrical system, possibly control module or push start button.i have read numerous complaints of this issue online from many different honda models including mine.
The back wiper remained in fast speed until shutting off vehicle. Twice.second time length of approx 5 minutes. Then operated normally. 12/09/192nd.radio has been changing stations on it's own.and the the phone has been asking me to set up with blue tooth when i am driving. I have shut off the radio and it seems to re-setitself. This has been going on for about month. 11/09/19
Started car to run an errand, and a bunch of error/problem codes appeared on dash one by one as well as engine light. All yellow lights. The car was still able to drive with no problems but it displayed on dash with every problem. Had no issue turning on, staying in motion, sitting idle for 30 min, or braking, yet every issue was still on display after multiple startups. Called dealership and they had me bring it in but should only take a couple of hours.had to leave overnight and is now late afternoon.service is making repairs and software updates at the approval of american honda (not even involving extended warranty.)fairly certain that this isn't the first time that honda has had to deal with this.
Car was parked in my garage and the alarm set itself off multiple times, when i approached the car it was unresponsive to any key fob commands and the dashboard was completely lit with flashing safety feature warning lights, and airbags were also disabled. Had to open the car with the manual key, since the car would not respond to the key fob. Started the car to see what was going on, when i went to turn it off again, it refused and wouldn't turn off. I proceeded to call roadside assistance after multiple failed attempts to get the car to respond to the key fob and they turned the car off. Two days later i drove car to the dealership, the whole way there all the warning lights were on and all the safety features were disabled and not working. Dealership refused to cooperate or even acknowledge the issue at hand. Took it two times just to be turned away and told they would not help me out, as they claimed they did not find anything wrong with the car, even though when we went to pick it up the vehicle was still not working. The car was bought new, i'm the original owner, only has 14,600 miles. Dealership manager told us that corporate honda commanded him not to touch the vehicle and to tell us to pick it up. Drove the car back still broken, with all safety features not working, warning lights on, and the alarm continues to set itself off. Had to disconnect battery and it has been sitting in my garage unusable for two weeks now, for it is not safe to drive. Attempted various times to contact corporate honda for help with this issue, yet they refuse to acknowledge what is going on and will not respond. Please help, this car is unsafe and must be recalled. What would it take for honda to own up? it seems safety is not a concern for them. It is a safety concern for the car is controlled by unresponsive electronics.

Turned car on to head to work, and all error codes appeared on dash one by one as well as engine light. All yellow lights. Had no issue turning on, staying in motion, sitting idle for 2 hours, or braking, yet every issue was still on display after multiple startups. Air conditioner fails to cool and instead blows hot air. Honda authorized service technician has confirmed that a defective air conditioner compressor has caused freeon leakage from the compressor's main shaft throughout the system.
I was leaving a parking lot, approaching a gate with an inductive-loop traffic detector, which can detect vehicles passing or arriving at a certain point, once a vehicle is detected the gate would open.i was approaching, maybe 50 feet from the gate, at approximately 5 mph, when the engine of my 2017 honda civic revved up and accelerated forward towards the gate.my foot was not on the accelerator, as i was approaching the gate which was still closed.there was no debris on the floor board or anything obstructing the pedals that would have caused it to depress the accelerator.i had to abruptly depress the brake pedal to avoid striking the gate.my honda is equipped with honda sensing and i have no idea how this could have occurred, may be an electrical issue with the throttle sensor because the "brake" warning was on, it observed the gate.
My 2017 honda civic hatchback, with 13,015 miles on it, was in my carport and had only been sitting 2 days without being driven when i turned the car on and the car began throwing warnings of all electrical systems having problems. For example the tpms, electric parking break, brake system, electric power steering, hill start assist and more. And i had no power steering. I had my car towed to surprise honda (big mistake) and they saw that myharness (part number 53682-tsa-a01) was chewed by rodents which caused the problem. Honda says and knows this wiring is made from soy based material which attracts rodents. Honda even has a special spicy tape, which they charge for as well, that they can use to wrap the wiring to deter the rodents (which the service mgr said really doesn't work.) honda says it is not covered under their warranty. They replaced the wiring and it cost me 370.00 dollars. The part itself was only 20.00 dollars. It is 108 degrees outside the rodents are not going into my engine to keep warm!! the soy base wiring is attracting them to do the damage. Honda and their dealership were of no help whatsoever except to make money off a poor choice in their soy base wiring.
First time speedometer reading 0 while driving.second time while driving down hwy, all error lights on dash came on, i have 10 or so photos, of the incident, speedometer read 0 going upward of 50 mph, power steering was going in and out and vehicle was very difficult to control.this is a huge issue being in colorado.took to dealer and they found nothing freedom honda co springs, co.now its the 3rd time a repeat of the second time every indicator error light illuminating, no speedometer, and power steering intermittent again.this is going to cause an accident.i am dropping the vehicle off friday 9/8/2017 for diagnosis.
The vehicle would stall randomly and take up to a few hours to restart. The infotainment system in the center stack had to be fully replaced due to buttons being pushed by themselves. Lastly, emergency brake failure sign on dashboard but brake was working fine.
2 times startup problem...brake problem..parking brake problem..emissions system problem....brake hold system problem...power steering problem....vehicle stability assist problem...hill start assist problem... Collisions assist problem...all software problem and system error
2016 new honda civic 2.0 engine oil leaking ! ! ! 2017new honda civic 1.5t engine oil increased13 mmthe same station 2017. New honda civic wipers broken , reversing radar broken increased oil 13mm is not a malfunction! engine oil increased, repaired twice, not repaired, honda said no way
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shut off. The failure started when the alarm was activated and the key fob failed to unlock the door. The instrument panel indicated remote key system failure. The vehicle was later taken to (honda of mentor located at 8555 market st, mentor, oh 44060, (440) 290-6017) where it was diagnosed that the computer system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
My car alarm randomly started going off while parked for three days, three different times of the day. The last time it happened back to back at 2am while parked. I tried turning it off with my key fob and it would not register. I opened the car with the key in the fob and pushed the start button, the engine started and i remained parked. Then i tried turning the car off but it would not turn off, instead the lights flickered on the dash and the car stayed on. I tried it 2 more times and it finally turned off the engine but not the dash. All the warning signs came on the car including a break systems error and a tire pressure error. After this, i took the battery out of my fob and now the car battery is dead. I powered up the battery today but the car won't start. The dash turns on but then it just flickers and gives me all the same warning signs. I found there were recalls for this issue on 2016 civics and that the recall should be extended to 2017 and 2018 civic as well. Mine is a 2017 civi and it's having all these issues that could be deadly if they happen on the freeway.
The a/c stopped working only one year after i purchased this car brand new. The car's a/c started blowing hot air from the vents even when the temperature control setting was set to lowest temp. This is a safety issue since often times i have to pull over and throw up from heat exhaustion while i'm driving during the summer months. There has been no reason for this to occur. However, i have reviewed many other owners of this same year, make and model with the exact same problem.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While driving various speeds, the touch screen radio flashed on and off without warning. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (fletcher jones honda located at 1111 n clark st suite 2, chicago, il 60610; 312-614-1948), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-999-1009 and stated that they would not assist if the dealer was not able to duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110.
I have had issues with my navigation system when i plug in my phone into the jack in the car.i have driven my vehicle to my honda dealer and they witnessed my vehicle actually remove my phone and replace it with someone else's phone in my vehicle.my vehicle will not recognize the phone also even though i have my bluetooth on my i phone and it will not pair with my vehicle as well numerous times.the tech at honda stated to me it is as if someone else is controlling the vehicle through your radio frequency.my car has been unlocked at times. Etc.i asked how this can occur and he stated if someone has your radio id or your key fob numbers.this is still occurring even though honda re set the navigation system and settings to factory default.now my trunk will not stay closed if something is in the trunk.happens at all times in motion, staying still.
There are times when the power window (front passenger side) and sunroof are open that they can not be closed.the fix is to stop the car, restart it and then raise the window with the switch on the passenger door.that seems to reset it.when i ask the dealer to repair it they are not aware of a problem or service bulletin and therefor do nothing.when you ask honda customer service they say take it to the dealer.there are countless entries on various auto blogs that talk about this problem with honda vehicles, and the solution i mentioned above seems to be a temporary fix.honda does nothing to try to repair this.this has happened when the vehicle was stationary and in motion.
The car brake stop working when the warning sign came on. I was driving on the highway upon getting off the high on a ramp the brakes froze i wasnt able to apply brakes for about 40 seconds because it became stiff . That's when the warning sign came on . This wasnt my first report on this problem
While driving in any condition warning lights for brake system, power steering, tire pressure and brake hold all come on at the same time
Complete safety system failure. Car began throwing warnings of all electrical systems having problems. For example tpms, electric parking break, brake system, electric power steering, hill start assist and more.
Air conditioning started to blow hot and the freon was low. Had to refill the freon which is using the new r-1234yf fluid which is hard to find at autozone and is very expensive for a 1 pound can at $50. Still cheaper than a mechanic or dealership price. Problem is that the car has 27000 miles and has only been driven sparingly and was never abused. A month later and itā€™s starting to blow warmer only on 100 degree weather.i currently cannot afford to have full repairs done to the ac. Never had hit anything with my car. Paint and interior is in near excellent condition. So itā€™s obviously not my fault. Honda should be ashamed.
I bought my 2017 civic brand new in may 2017. Ever since i had this car the electronics don't always work. Volume doesn't always work on the steering wheel or on the digital radio. I'll have to turn the car off and then back on to be able to use the volume. Two different times my car wouldn't turn off while in park. I had to sit over 5 minutes in park before it would turn off with pushing the start button over and over. The radio goes staticky every time i use the defrost button. For the last 6 months my car now makes a beeping noise here and there that sounds like it's coming from the dash/radio. Doesn't matter if the car is in drive or park. Every time i brought my car into honda they couldn't fix anything since the codes didn't pull up when they plugged their computer into my car. I do have a video of the noises that my car was making (beeping). So yes i still have the same issues with my car and in 2 months i will have owned my car for 2 years.
Ijuly 2017 is when i first noticed my car automatically re-setting while i was driving down the florida turnpike at legal speed of 70 miles an hour! all of a sudden the car's dashboard illuminated with every colored warning light & a spinning-doted circle light as if car computer was searching for a signal or being remotely reset! the radio turned off, the screen went black, the computer dashboard flashed until finally the 'h' honda logo appeared on the radio screen resetting itself. Scaring me to believe the car was shutting down or about to malfunction while i was driving! three months later the radio, satellite, side mirror camera, rear backup camera every thing associated with the computer brain of this car completely went out! nothing can be reset through the radio as it's just stuck. Honda dealership has no explanation other replacement for safety! dealership reached out to honda for assistance as i've exceeded 36,000 mile complementary warranty. Honda actually took responsibility for this malfunction at first, stating they would pay/cover majority of cost leaving balace of $300. I found this to be crazy, as this electical malfunction was no fault of my own & shouldinitiate recall! as i now have no way of knowing if all system warning lights are error or actual safety warnings! i have no rear camera or side mirror camera due to this radio/computer malfunction! this is a danger driving this car so i contacted honda and explained i was willing to pay the $300 for replacement. Only to be told their offer to pay/cover malfunction errors was no longer on the table, giving no reason why offer was revoked! the claims adjuster and her manager then very rudely & disrespectfully hung up the phone! i feel unsafe everytime behind the wheel of this car! please aid in establishing a recall
Car turned off doesn't crack up and says there's a lot of problems including break system.
Car would either start engine on its own or turn on standby/accessory mode on its own. This would happen immediately after the car was shut off. Disconnecting the battery was the only way to stop it, this after it ruined the previous battery by constantly drawing power by the car starting itself. Dealer diagnosed it as a faulty body control module.
Since the first day driving less than 10 miles home from the dealership i have had numerous electrical, a c and drive train or wheel problems. The vehicle had been transferred.from a santa barbara ca dealership to a honda dealership in san luis obispo ca. They called me on a sunday to say the car was there it was raining and dark. Car had 400+ miles one it and safety check had not been done since it was originally received when is was 0. On the 7th of a 10 mile ride home the whole.entire dashboard first sizzled out like an old computer.monitor going bad then.completely went blank.i could not tell how fast i was going.at that point i had not yet hooked up my phone.to apple.play which is a whole nother software endless.glitch bag of issues.i have had the car for about a year.it popped the hood and almost burned my hands on the hood arm. The digital dash turns black at least 2-3 times a month (no miles.per hour, etc).every other day my in dash factory screen radio goes black. The car unlocks itself overnight every few days.most if this increases with frequency when it rains. At least one time a week the car won't unlock by touch even tho i have the key on me. Since day one the climate controlwill randomly turn on full blast. Since day one right front loud bearing noise near tie rod arm and loud knock/bearing/bump noisr in drive train area; under dash and in and inside doors and sun roof rattle so loud i have to turn up the music not to hear it like parts are loose, at 9 months hot full blast 90+ degree heat comes on when the a c is turned on (stuck.in heat mode) eventually after being turned off will reset itself then work normal. This has happened again 4tines in the past week.since day one turn signals get stuck and don't disengage unless forciblyforced. No clear coat on door jams. Hood, trunk and doors have uneven gaps/misaligned.cracked lights
I went to go start my vehicle after leaving work at 4 am, 5/9/2019. Upon trying to start my vehicle, the brake pedal was stiff. I could not start the vehicle. My car's lights started flashing, with a weird clicking noise being made. On the dashboard, the system started stating "electric parking brake problem". "manual brake problem", "stability problem", and a couple other errors. The vehicle was stationary, and upon doing research, this has been an issue with 2016-2018 honda civics. The emergency brake was not on, and i have never used that feature. At the time of this complaint, my vehicle is sitting in my work's full parking lot, and i am stranded.
Air conditioning system goes from cold to hot while the vehicle is in operation. During very hot days cabin becomes extremely hot even with fan turned to high and a/c turned to the on position. Have heard this problem has happened with other honda civic owners as well. Becomes very uncomfortable trying to drive while cabin is hot. Happens whether the vehicle is in motion or at idle
This is a 5-door hatchback in ex trim bought new 12/2016. Within 2 weeks electrical issues started, from xm tuner going out to main headunit going out on a intermittant basis. This disables all audio, bluetooth, climate controls, back-up camera, & lanewatch. "check tuner" shows briefly often. Occurs even when driving. Dealer unable to duplicate, because of this honda refuses repair. Tpms alert displays frequently, after a tire even a wheel repair/replacement. Per dealer & honda tech all 4 should be matching set @ time of service, or dealer can attempt hard reset. Software update recently done for this. Told to bring back to dealer if/when tpms lights up again. Known poor android auto performance & apple carplay non-function, no repair at this time (software issues). "christmas tree" display - no abs, traction control, electric steering, airbag malfunction, etc etc. No long-term resolution, per dealer "software issues". Groaning noise when turning wheels left or right from stop, per dealer & honda tech "normal operation". Sunroof glass breakage is at owner expense, not a warranty coverage item. Engine shakes/shudders on start, again "normal operation" per dealer & honda tech. Poor horn performance, per dealer only a single low note horn installed. Not loud enough to be heard easily. Owner expense to upgrade to better (louder) unit. Electrical glitches still ongoing almost 2 years now, vehicle has 20,000 miles. This 10th gen civic not reliable & may prove a safety concern long-term. Am unable to afford replacing this vehicle at this time. Honda customer service has been largely indifferent towards these issues, citing "unable to duplicate" even "software issues".
Driving along highway speed and the car brakes abruptly and the accelerator pedal was unresponsive. If this would have happened at rush hour, this would have caused a pile-up.if this would have happened in front of a semi, i might be dead.i moved across two lanes of traffic with no throttle control. The car regained throttle response after about 45 seconds.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted; however, the failure recurred intermittently and could potentially result in a crash. The vehicle was taken to big island honda hilo (75-5608 kuakini hwy, kailua-kona, hi 96720, 1-(808) 961-5505) to be diagnosed and test driven, but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact planned to take the vehicle back to the dealer for further diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.
Happens with out the key near the car. 2017 honda civic, car will trigger itself to start to accessory mode, turning on headlights, wipers (if switch is on), and sometimes triggering the alarm system when locked and armed.just the electronics turn on by itself. It occurs both when i am in the vehicle, and when no keys are in the vehicle sometimes every error message shows. Several times i will go to my car and the system will be on, or the car will be dead and have to be jumped from being on without me knowing. I'm currently disconnecting the battery. This is a video of another person with the exact problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkdfkzsnxt0
Rodents chewing through electrical wiring in the engine compartment.honda using soy based wiring jacketing that attracts the rodents to chew up the wiring in the engine compartment.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While driving 40 mph, the sun roof opened and all four windows in the vehicle rolled down spontaneously. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 4,500.
Sometimes, when trying to start the vehicle, it will not crank and start. The electric power will come on (dash board icons, headlights, etc.), but it will not crank. It takes from 2 to 7 turns of the key, before it cranks and starts. This problem occurs sometimes once a week, sometimes 2 or 3 times. I took it to a honda dealer for repair. However, on the day i took it in, of course, it was working fine. The service manager said that their computer could not diagnosis it, unless the problem occurred while it was hooked to the computer. He told me to bring it back when the problem got worse, or the car would not start at all. I have not returned to the dealer yet. This problem began in early july of this year. The vehicle had approximately 36,000 miles on it.
Starting about 9 months ago i have had several occasions of electrical issues on my 2017 honda civic that is less than a year and a half old and only has 18k miles on it. It first started around the fall last year with my car repeatedly popping the trunk when i would not be near it and would come out to it in the parking lot at work and find my trunk wide open. Later on i found out the trunk popping open would force the car alarm to go off for several hours and occasionally would lead to a dead battery. When i took it in to have the issue investigated the technicians told me the couldn't diagnose the problem and that it shouldn't continue (it has continued and in fact is happening as i type this in my apartment). The next issue occurred about 2 months ago while i was driving down the interstate in the pouring rain and my windshield wipers stopped working completely. Upon having this problem inspected the technicians determined it was "faulty" windshield wiper motors and had both replaced. The latest issue that occurred was as i was driving to pensacola from washington and stopped off at a rest stop in the middle of nowhere oregon for some sleep. Upon waking up (3hrs after i shut the car off) i discovered my car was doing some glitchy thing with all the lights and dashboard where it was acting like i was turning it off and on. I had nothing turned on or plugged in when i went to sleep and when i woke up the car was completely dead and the electrical system had totally disabled the car.

A/c faulty - condenser leak - driver side air not working stationary and in motion, consistently dysfunctional
A/c compressor failed. Mileage 51,000.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While driving approximately 60 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and noticed warning indicators illuminated and the rpms decreased to zero. The contact was able to turn the vehicle off and restart it after a few minutes, but the engine shook. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.updated 08/23/17*lj
I leased my honda civic from herb chambers honda of boston in nov. 2016. In march 2017 my check engine light came on. When i took my car to the dealership for servicing, they told me that rodents had chewed on the wires under my vehicle. After i did some research on my own, i found out that many other people were having this same issue and my car received damage to the wiring (under my car) due to the soybean coating that honda is using on the wire covers. I was told that this is not covered by the dealership or warranty. Remind you "this is a lease." mybrand- new leased car was completed dead and wouldn't even turn on. I am lucky it didn't die on me while i was driving it. I have read online complaints that this has had to other people with this damage to their vehicles.i was quoted $2,600 in repairs. I ended up paying a $500 deductible to my insurance company. There are class action law suits in place in ca and other states regarding the "soy-based wire covering." this is a serious safety issue and a recall needs to be made by honda.
The car alarm blares randomly throughout the night and sometimes during the day and the car locks itself unable to use the key fob to turn off the alarm and unlock the door replaced the battery in the key fob seemed like a fix for a week now the instrument panel has 'keyless start problem' and won't go away and the car just turns itself to 'on' by itself and/or the alarm goes off also you have to put the actual key in the driver door to turn the alarm off and unlock the car this happens while the car is stationery after it's been driven and turned off for an hour or more
I was driving in the highway on a pouring rain and suddenly my windshield wiper stopped. This almost cause me accident. Also, when i press my gas on a really fast highway, i tried to floor the gas but it wasn't accelerating, i had to switch gear for it to work.
Just picked up brand new car from dealership (sunset honda i. San luis obispo ca) transferred by them from another dealership. Car is an ex and has previously test driven a 2017 civic hatchback sport the day before . Drove off with my mew car that was given to me with 450miles. Right after i left dealership with my brand new car and was driving home for first time got about 6 miles from dealership and dashboard lights with digitalspeedometer displayed flashedand went dead (completely blank a.k.a. Black screen of earth). I was driving approx. 30-35 mph . Drove another'sanother mile (approx) with no digital speed display at all- completely black instrument cluster (main display which normally shows digital miles per hour, temp gauge, etc) and turned on right hand signal to make right turn and about five seconds laterright side camera turned on media display to right and eventually digital dashboard speedometer behind the steering wheel turned back on. Everything on the car is computer controlled. This is really dangerous. Not sure how f car has a bad cpu or ecu. Called dealership immediately as i has just driven away 15 minutes before and they didn't think it was a big deal. I am very concerned.
Car trunk opens while driving (more than a dozen times to date); windows descend while locking car from outside; gas cap cover unlatches while locking car. Car doors have also unlocked while vehicle was parked, and thieves ransacked car on 2 occasions. I raised issues to dealer (who said they were impossible) and wrote manufacturer april 22; have received no response. Rust on tire rims.the electrical issues have been recurring since five months after i purchased the car to the present day.
Woke up at 4:30 am on this day july 18,2019 saw that my car was on fire (it started under the hood). It was parked in the driveway
We drive a 2017 honda civic hatch and we had to take vehicle to dealership.they diagnosed it with rodent issue chewing thru wire. We now have to fix it and replace wire and the dealership will put a take to deters rodents. We have to pay $500 dollars to replace. My husband was driving home from work and his power steering stopped working.i called honda and they said we have to pay for damage but they did say many customers have called honda to complain about issue. So it is a know issue and no recall has been done.does someone have to die before honda does something about it. Help
My son and i purchased a certified pre-owned 2017 honda civic sedan on dec 3rd from honda of lisle il. The car was purchased with 22,100 miles. My son was driving on dec 10th and stopped for gas for the first time. He got back in the car and started it up. He noticed the engine light came on. He immediately cam home and called for an appointment for the next day to have it checked out at the dealer. As he was driving to the dealer he got about 1 mile down the road when all of a sudden black smoke started pouring out of the engine compartment and the car froze up and immediately burst into flames. Thankfully it happened on a side street as he was slowing down for a traffic light. I had it towed to the dealer. Even though there is a law that they need to take it back within 15 days or less than 500 miles, they essentially told me it wasn't their problem and i needed to get my insurance involved. A fire inspector hired by the insurance company looked at the totaled vehicle and suspected the fire started near the battery. My insurance company informed me that they would have to have a fire engineer inspect it at a cost of $5,000 therefore they will not pursue further. This should not have happened to a certified car with 22k miles. Full videohttps://youtu.be/ttsvy7zgmw8
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. The contact stated that the vehicle's navigation system failed. Although they were on the freeway, the navigation system re-routed them as though they were on the street. The contact also stated that the vehicle's radio failed. The failures occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the system needed a software update. The vehicle was repaired; however, the radio still failed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the tuner and antenna needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the rearview and passenger side cameras failed. The vehicle was again returned to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electrical console needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,900.
Every now and then there will be brake proble while im driving car will stop in the for no reason.lastweek as i was reversing the car had an error stating electric parking brake problem and it wouldnt move. I shut the car off thwn turn it back on it went away as i was driving the error appears again while i was driving the car started to slow down so i pulled over in a parking lot and turn it off and waited
Takata recall safety components related to driver safety which in relation relates to driver assistance. While driving cars in front sensors do not pick up and don't automatically brake lane shifting does not work.
My car randomly lost power in the middle of the freeway forcing me to turn on hazards and make my way from the express lane to the nearest off ramp going 20 mph while trying to avoid an accident. My check engine light began to flash rapidly causing further anxiety. Fortunately i was able to make my way to safety and call a tow truck. I attempted to have my car delivered to the nearest honda (walnut creek ca) however they did not have any availability for a few days. The car also had lots of smoke coming out the exhaust and read check engine oil level on and off. It was a nightmare and who knows what it's going to cost me to repair. On top of all the work i'll loose being my work relies on my car 100%. I've owned nothing but hondas however this time i feel i made a bad purchase buying a new 2017 civic. I've kept up with maintenance, only goes to dealership, pumped nothing but premium gasoline. I am sad, upset, angry, anxious and very much still in disbelief that this is happening to my 3 year old car at only 80,000 miles . What can i do? is anyone else having same issue? i got a code p0299 turbo underboost
2 times startup problem...brake problem..parking brake problem..emissions system problem....brake hold system problem...power steering problem....vehicle stability assist problem...hill start assist problem... Collisions assist problem...all software problem and system error
While driving my car will put the brakes on if another care passes me on drivers side. This did it for a few weeks, then the collision mitigation system light came on and will not clear.cruise will not work.this has happened before, but never with light staying on.

Lane monitoring system provides inconsistent warnings.this has been noted when the vehicle is in motion while i drive through the city and also on the highways.it sometimes without warning adjusts the steering of the vehicle.brake monitoring system, when it does provide warning, provides warnings so late that a collision would be unavoidable.tire pressure monitoring system does not provide adequate information to allow for an appropriate response of the driver.no feedback from the calibration mode of the tpms.once the system provides its first alarm, doesn't respond well to calibration.my system now alarms about every 60-100 miles.the adaptive cruise control is scary.while it is expected that in especially hilly terrain that the cruise control would vary a bit (a couple of mph either direction), the system sometimes does not engage, sometimes turns itself off without warning, provides inconsistent warning of when the vehicle interval is not maintained, but the biggest problem is that it does not maintain the set point.for example yesterday, acc set at 42 mph.speed limit was 40 mph.i was descending a hill and manually disengaged the acc when the vehicle speed exceeded 57 mph.same trip -- acc set at 67 mph, speed limit at 65 mph; acc disengaged manually when vehicle speed approached 76 mph.third instance, acc set at 56 mph, speed limit was 55 mph, acc manually disengaged at 63 mph.when acc first engaged, speed is at the set point.then the system can't maintain the speed and consistently runs 1-2 mph below the set point.hence, me setting the acc 1-2 mph above the speed limit.believe that these are all part of the honda sensing system which was part of the touring package, which is what i have.the 2017 cr-v models with the same system have a pending class action lawsuit.honda will not respond to our inquiries.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. As a result, the contact's vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 6,700. Consumer stated the localdealer where the car was purchased was contacted after this report was completed. The service manager went to the tow yard and was able to start the vehicle. However, there was not a complete computer diagnostic review performed tech (service manager) could not explain why car died/stalled in the middle of the road while driving. Car was determined to be a total loss. Updated 9/26/18

This is a 2017 honda civic hatchback. I cannot start the car suddenly. Battery is ok. Aaa removed the battery and reinstalled it, then the car can start. However, the honda dealer said with the battery removing, the error code was removed so cannot find the root cause. The dealer said most probably it was related with a software error.

On my honda civic i have the oil dilution problem which was verified by a mechanic. When i had the oil change they said gasoline came out with the oil. Two days before i went to get the oil change the fuel in the oil caused my engine to stall and me and my friend almost got rear ended by many cars flying up on us. We were barely able to get just barely inches off the freeway but every car came within inches of hitting our car and almost killing us. After a while the car eventually started back up and we continued down the freeway only to have the car stall again and we nearly getting hitagain by another car. I'm actually afraid to even drive my car now after this incident and i've been reading about other people online having the same problem. I think this is a serious safety concern and honda should recall mine and others cars as soon as possible for this could cause fatalities. I have the 1.5 l turbo engine by the way and i've heard complaints about others with this motor with the same exact problem. I'm not sure exactly how the fuel mixing with the oil causes the engine to stall. All i know is consumer reports has other people mentioning their engine stalling. I believe it could be something the engine detects in the oil and shuts the engine down as a way of protecting it from possible low oil pressure because of the fuel.by the way i haven't had any problems with the car for two years and this is the first incident that has happened. Recently over the last couple months i haven't been driving that much and therefore the oil was diluting with the fuel more than normal so that may have something to do with it. And also i live in a hot climate in northern california. Honda thinks that it's only happening in colder colder climates which is absolutely absurd. You can literally smell gasoline on the dipstick and the dipstick was 1/2 qt. Over. Still had 50% oil life.
Upon doing research on the tech that went into the motor of the 2017 si. I found that the same motor was in the 2017 crv and there had been a recall on it for a fule problem. I did not find the exact problem on my vehicle however i did notice that when changeing oil there is a very strong gasoline smell. I'm afraid of there being damage to the motor due to loss of lubrication. (the date i'll put for when it happened will be the last date of an oil change.)
Engine oil dilution. There is an issue with the l15 engines and gas flowing down past the pistons into the crankcase. These engines have been recalled in china and only "affected" states in the us and canada. I do not live in one of these "affected" states but my engine oil level is above the maximum level and smells heavily of gas.
I have a 2017 honda civic with the 1.5 liter turbo. I started seeing lots of information on the civic forum about oil dilution so i decided to have my engine oil analyzed. The report came back saying that the amount of fuel in my oil was greater than 5% which was deemed critical . This condition will cause engine failure and possible unsafe conditions.
Air conditioner not working.
Air conditioning is blowing hot air, possibly due to refrigerant leak. Finding many other similar complaints from new honda civic owners.
I do oil change by myself. Here i am reporting fuel dilution of engine oil issue on my car.the second last time of my car's oil change was on march 16 2019. I followed the manual strictly to perform the oil change as well as the oil filter replacement. I added 3.7 qt of new motor oil (mobil 1 advanced fuel economy full synthetic 0w20), which is the volume specified on the manual book. Last weekend on july 7 2019 i did oil change again, still following the manual book strictly. What made me concerned was that the volume of that used motor oil was clearly greater than what i added on march 16. The motor oil i purchased came with sealed bottles, each containing 1 qt volume. I was surprised to find that the used oil fulfilled 4 bottles, which was 10% more than what i added 3 months before. This was the solid evidence that something went into the motor oil, which i believed was gasoline, because the used oil had a gasoline smell. During this period, i only chose top tier gasoline brands and added regular #87 which was suggested by honda, therefore the quality of gasoline i added was no problem; i didn't see loss of engine coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid during this time.
The vehicle would stall randomly and take up to a few hours to restart. The infotainment system in the center stack had to be fully replaced due to buttons being pushed by themselves. Lastly, emergency brake failure sign on dashboard but brake was working fine.
Fuel (gasoline) is seeping into the motor oil causing a overfill mark on oil dipstick and strong odor of gasoline when car is started. Oil viscosity seems to be "thinner" after 2000 + miles of driving.
Air conditioner fails to cool and instead blows hot air. Honda authorized service technician has confirmed that a defective air conditioner compressor has caused freeon leakage from the compressor's main shaft throughout the system.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While the vehicle was parked, it rolled away independently. The failure recurred twice. As a result, the contact injured her foot and required medical attention. The vehicle was taken to auburn honda (1801 grass valley hwy, auburn, ca 95603), but the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,411.
I changed the oil at a dealer in early aug, but after driving for about one month, the oil dilution issue happens again. I can smell gas in the oil, and the dipstick showed that the oil level is far beyond the expected range.

2016 new honda civic 2.0 engine oil leaking ! ! ! 2017new honda civic 1.5t engine oil increased13 mmthe same station 2017. New honda civic wipers broken , reversing radar broken increased oil 13mm is not a malfunction! engine oil increased, repaired twice, not repaired, honda said no way
My oils is being diluted by fuel strong oder of gas from oil. Shows that it is over filled . When it is cold out side my engine feels like it is stuttering and it starts to click under acceleration. My car has already had fuel rail and injectors replaced under warranty for misfiring issues and my car has shut off on me multiple times while driving on busy50 mph roads and had to coast into a parking lot. Every honda dealer i've brought it to says this is normal and will not admit that my oil is diluted. But i heard them saying how bad the oil smell of gas
The engine would shut off while driving-happened numerous times, including the freeway...yet honda said they couldn't find any issues.
Fuel is mixing with oil.oil dipstick reads higher when checked. Engine performance is sluggish.when checking oil, there is a strong gasoline smell.as a result, oil is significantly thinner when checked.
I was driving down i-30 merging on the highway. I put it in sport mode and try to get up to speed but all of a sudden car goes to limp mode. Then would not go over 40mph. I was able to safely pull off from the road turn the car off and back on. Cleared all issues. I took it to the dealer next day and no cel was stored.
Vibration in engine
Vehicule stalling while driving on the highway at a speed of 60 mph all warning lights pop up, vehicule loss power until stall. Event occurs 3 occations in less than 1 month.
Oil leak on 1.5l engine valve cover
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. The contact attempted to start the engine five times, but was unsuccessful. Several unknown warning indicators were illuminated, including five "electric parking brake problem", "vehicle stability assist problem", and "electric power steering problem" messages that appeared. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
Just the other day i floored it to pass someone and my car stopped accelerating on the highway with a flashing check engine light. As i pressed the gas the rpm's would go up but i had 0 acceleration. I eventually pulled over and turned off the car and immediately when i turned it, my car star shuttle before stop the acceleration and happend every time when i try accelerate the car
Vehicle hesitating, failing to achieve more than 25 mph. Vehicle has lost driven gear at high speed and abruptly returned. Transmission was replaced, vehicle exhibiting similar symptoms. Transmission related grinding noise on warm-start, engine rattles on cold start. Collision mitigating braking system had a problem that was addressed by the dealer. Engine currently leaking large amounts of oil from around the head and onto surrounding wiring harnesses, a potential source of fire. This vehicle is not and never will be safe.
While driving in any condition warning lights for brake system, power steering, tire pressure and brake hold all come on at the same time
On june 13th, less then a month after it was inspected/serviced from the honda dealership on may 21st, my 3 year old car busts up in flames.
A/c stop blowing cold air. Took to honda dealership for inspection turns out it is the evaporator has a leak. Warranty doesn't cover it anymore. 2,200 to replace it's disappointing newer model having issues like these. My 2010 honda civic blows cold after 10 year. Honda i hope there is something you can do for your customer that are having these same issues, we believed in honda but sadly it is disappointing.
At cold start, the idling engine shakes the steering wheel, dashboard, and much of the cabin. It feels like a poorly seated motor mount. I've driven civics my whole life and have never felt a shake like this one. I took it to the local honda dealership and left it overnight in hopes of replicating the cold start. They could not reproduce the problem but i'm beginning to worry.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. The contact stated that on several occasions, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The vehicle would decelerate and then stall. There were several codes displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that whenever the failure occurred, the vehicle was reset by restarting the vehicle approximately 3 times or removing and replacing the battery. The contact had not spoken with a dealer. The contact learned of service bulletin: 10142655 (engine and engine cooling, electrical system) however, the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,300.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. Upon starting the vehicle from a ?cold start?, the check engine and abs warning indicators illuminated. The contact purchased the vehicle used several weeks ago. A/c condenser is defective but honda says my vin not covered under honda's 10 year extended warranty for this part. In addition, tried to get this part serviced under three-year warranty but honda service was closed due to covid 19 and the company has refused to extend its warranty period as other companies have done.
2020 i haven't used the car much do to covid-19. Maybe 1000 miles. February 2021 i noticed the cold air conditioning doesn't work properly. Seems that the air only blows. I just discovered today that honda seems to have issues with ac condensers. I sent an email to honda to see if my vin has the warranty for the condenser. I will inspect it and see if that's what is going on. Car has 40k miles. 2017 sedan ex 2.0lneed ac to defog windshield for visibility! and keep me cool so i can operate the vehicle safely!i'm not sure if it failed at some point in 2020. But i just noticed it now during some very hot days.automatic breaking should have recall. When i drive and someone in front jumps across my lane to get into another lane, the car will slam the brakes after the car in front is already left the lane and it's inside another lane. That's a very delayed response and unnecessary because other cars behind me need to get on the brake hard to avoid hitting me. I try to floor it in situations like this but the system won't let me. The only thing this leaves me to do is disabled the system by holding down the button. But that removes the safety features. Sometimes someone in front of me brakes fast suddenly. I jump to another lane and the system applies the brakes once i already jumped into another lane with nobody in it. However if there is someone behind, then the person honks because the car just slammed on the brakes! i have video proof of this. It's an accident waiting to happen

The a/c on these vehicles stop working after a while. Know other people that own a 2016/2017 honda civic and the a/c stops working. We've all took it back to the dealer to get it checked out and they try charging an arm to fix it. I don't think it's fair for us customers to be buying full price for these vehicles when they know the affects they have and then steal from us to get it fixed.
Fuel is mixing with oil.oil dipstick reads higher when checked. Engine performance is sluggish.when checking oil, there is a strong gasoline smell.as a result, oil is significantly thinner when checked.
2017 honda civic was bought new with 5 miles on january 6, 2017 and the following problems have occurred: mileage 3435 check engine light, mileage 3813 check engine light and sop shutter set installed, mileage 4242 check engine light and cracks in top of fuel pump and it was leaking gas, fuel pump replaced and then fuel tank had to be replaced
Started driving when several warning labels came on that included brake system problem, emission system failure, hill assist failure, and power steering problem able to drive around block using brakes, normal power, running fine. Got into drive way brakes not working almost running into garage door. Shut of car, unplug battery, and wait to reset computer. Plugbattery back on work for 4 days then did it again. Lucky i wasnt driving faster and there wasn't a child in front of car when brakes quit working. Some one is going to get run over if this computer/ software is not fixed. It shouldn't come to that.

The capless fuel design freezes shut preventing refueling until ice dam is defrosted. This could possibly leave someone stranded as i am.

Oil smells of gasoline
Fuel (gasoline) is seeping into the motor oil causing a overfill mark on oil dipstick and strong odor of gasoline when car is started. Oil viscosity seems to be "thinner" after 2000 + miles of driving.
I have an acceleration problem very cerium in my honda civic 2017, it is about acceleration, imagine that you are going on the freeway through the carpool and suddenly the driver in front stops if you try to brake but once you are not going to reach to brake thebrake and accelerate trying to avoid the accident but your car after releasing the brake pedal and accelerating does not accelerate and you as you released the breakers you stay in the middle of the freeway for 5 seconds with cars going at 70 mph well that's just one of my manyalmost accidents because the acceleration pedal did not respond correctly, luckily neither my wife nor i have had accidents although both of us have felt that lack of acceleration when you need it and the worst thing is that the mechanics and agents of the dealer make fun of one telling methat it is a common problem or that my mat was poorly accommodated or that the mechanic tells me that he felt the fault but the last one on the paper says that they did not find anything and just do an "update"when my life and my wife's life have been at risk more than 1 time, i bring my car 10 times to the dealer and i always receive the same answer and this last time my wife bring the car and the solution for the problem the solution to the problem according to the mechanics was to do general maintenance on all fluids with costs above $ 800 because the warranty does not cover that even when my car is under warranty, for my part i took the car to another certified mechanic and after reviewing it he told methat everything was nonsense, all the fluids were clean. He also explained that it is illegal to recommend fluid change or maintenance of certain things withoutno reason and effectively the paper than the dealer gave me has no reason why they wanted to sell all that to my wife.

I stopped in a parking space and turned off my 2017 honda civic touring sport in a parking garage (2/27/2020) when the car was in 'drive', not 'park.'while storing items behind the passenger seat, the car rolled across a lane of traffic (12 feet?) and hit another car causing bumper damage.my car did this so silently that the only alert i received was the crash itself; the car's collision avoidance system did not engage.my 14 month old baby was sitting in a rear facing car seat.had other drivers not been careful, there would have been a side impact collision.as far as i know, these cars are supposed to go into park when they're turned off.in closing, i did a google search, and several other 2017 and 2018 honda civic owners have filled 'rollaway car' complaints like this one:https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/consumer-products/auto-news/868008-honda-civic-rollaway-problem-purportedly-rolled-forward-to-2017-and-2018-cars/https://www.classaction.org/honda-roll-away-lawsuitsthis vehicle seems as unsafe as a 737 max!

Sudden body control module failure causes multiple, false warnings (while in motion and stationary) to light up such as brake system, steering, oil, battery, keyless remote system. Driver does not know if she/he should heed these warnings. This can be dangerous while driving.car accessory mode would turn on by itself (while car is turned off and key is away from the vehicle) and drain out battery. Honda service technician found bcm faulty. Please refer to recall #: 20v-771 on this known issue with honda vehicles.this recall needs to include honda civics.

New civic sedan just turned over 1 year old and it has always shifted weird at times, almost causing me a few accidents (mainly at acceleration).stopped by dealership (honda of covington) sometime in the fall and service person said that lots of civic owners stop by and complain about how the transmission shifts, but this is just "how they are" and they will get better as they build more of them. I didn't buy a chrysler or edsel and expected my over 20k spent on this vehicle to be better than that. Sometimes it engages roughly when we shift into drive and sometimes it lags a while then jumps into gear.we now have around 8k miles on this 4 door sedan
I was driving on the freeway and the engine began losing power.soon after, multiple warning lights on the dash lit up.i barely had enough power to clear the busy freeway.the car was towed to autonation honda in chandler, az, where the technician discovered fuel in the oil.he said honda was aware of the problem on this 1.5 turbo engine, but no fix existed.he changed the oil and released the car back to me.after just a few minutes online, i discovered the history of this particular engine issue.i know honda says it only happens in cold climates, but that day was over 100 degrees f.also, the oil had been changed at the same dealership approx. 6 weeks earlier and only 619 miles before the event. I am now afraid to drive it at night or on the freeway in case this happens again.

Help

My car randomly lost power in the middle of the freeway forcing me to turn on hazards and make my way from the express lane to the nearest off ramp going 20 mph while trying to avoid an accident.
2017 honda civic. Consumer writes in regards to defective compressor clutch and radiator fans. *ldthe consumer stated the vehicle's air conditioner would blow out hot air. The vehicle was low on refrigerant. The dealer tested the vehicle for leaks and none were found. The vehicle was out of warranty; therefore, would not assist with repairs.
I purchased this vehicle on 9/17/2017.less than three weeks later, the left side of the seat back was deformed, causing back pain and discomfort. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they manipulated the cushions to get the seat back to a more comfortable shape, however it didn't look the same as when it was brand new. A couple of months after that the cushions became displaced again. There are two cushions forming the side bolster, and the side airbag is designed to deploy between the cushions. I have been unable to get the cushions back into place and don't live close to my dealership so it is inconvenient to take it back in. Now i have back pain in the area where the seat is deformed and pushing into my back. I am taking it to the dealer next week however i am afraid even if they replace the seat this problem will keep occurring. I haven't had the car long enough to be able to trade it in without taking a huge loss. I am also concerned with how the side airbag deployment could be effected.
Already specify what has the airbags the brakes, the seats.and he still manages it
When pulling into a parking spot i put the car into park but the car kept moving forward, over a sidewalk and into a building. I put the car in reverse and could not stop the car until it hit another object. Had damage to the front bumper and grill.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. Upon starting the vehicle from a ?cold start?, the check engine and abs warning indicators illuminated. The contact purchased the vehicle used several weeks ago. The vehicle was taken to sunwest honda-mazda (1030 north coast highway, newport, or 97365, (541) 265-8547) where the contact was advised that the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000. Updated 9/21/18
The vehicle was running and in park, unoccupied. Vehicle rolled away despite transmission being in park position and struck a garage door.owner states he confirmed vehicle was in park when he came to the vehicle in its final resting position. For one day prior to this occurance,a brake error message had come on and off in the vehicle.it was a weekend, so the owner did not notify a service provider but was intending to schedule service on the monday following.a claim has been filed with his auto insurance provider, erie insurance, to repair the body damage. Underlying issue needs investigation as there is not a recall for this specific vin, but a recall has been issued for a known problem for other makes/models.
The car brake stop working when the warning sign came on. I was driving on the highway upon getting off the high on a ramp the brakes froze i wasnt able to apply brakes for about 40 seconds because it became stiff . That's when the warning sign came on . This wasnt my first report on this problem
The honda sensing brake system seems to more annoying than helpful. Even adjusting the different sensor lengths isn't helping. Often, the car starts to brake when it is not needed. A few days ago a car in front of me decided to make a u-turn at a left turn arrow that said no u-turns. My car decided to slam on the brakes because they were a little in the way. It gets worse: i could not override the brakes when i stepped on the gas petal to move forward after the car was completely out of the way. I was stuck in place for longer than necessary. The car behind me almost hit me! i don't mind if the sensing system notifies me with beeps, bells, and whistles. Just don't brake for me!
While driving in any condition warning lights for brake system, power steering, tire pressure and brake hold all come on at the same time
Every now and then there will be brake proble while im driving car will stop in the for no reason.lastweek as i was reversing the car had an error stating electric parking brake problem and it wouldnt move. I shut the car off thwn turn it back on it went away as i was driving the error appears again while i was driving the car started to slow down so i pulled over in a parking lot and turn it off and waited
I was driving the speed limit at 40mph.the collision mitigation braking system fired on an open road causing my car to stop abruptly.this caused me to get rear ended by the car behind me.there wasn't a car in front of me, it fired erratically.police report was filed.after taking the car to the dealer, the dealer has indicated "there is nothing wrong".even though there were witness's at the scene as well as it causing an accident.
After parking in my driveway, placing the parking brake on, turning the engine off and existing the vehicle, my parking brake gave out about 15 minutes later. My car rolled down my short driveway. Fortunately, i was close by, hopped in the moving car as it reached my street and manually pushed down the brake. As i restarted the vehicle, the parking brake signal showed the parking brake was still engaged. It appears the parking brake is defective. The parking brake should not (and cannot) release. Ever. If i were parked on a public street, i could have harmed another vehicle or pedestrian.
The vehicle would stall randomly and take up to a few hours to restart. The infotainment system in the center stack had to be fully replaced due to buttons being pushed by themselves. Lastly, emergency brake failure sign on dashboard but brake was working fine.
This happened to me three times in three years. Suddenly an error message pops up saying "electrical parking brake problem". The first two times it went away after i fiddled with electrical parking and the error message went away. The third time, couldn't start the car as the brake pad doesn't move at all. Car was stationary and it happened in a parking lot.
Already specify what has the airbags the brakes, the seats.and he still manages it
The issue i have been having is the brake assist program is breaking when there is no object around causing my car to break for no reason this cause quick use of the break one day its gonna cause someone to rear end me i took this to honda they cant find the issue this happens about 4 times to and from work this is a huge safety concern as well my lane departure assist hasnt work since the day i bought the car to many issues took car to 3 different dealers all the dealers said they reset the system no issues found honda doesnt care about safety at all. These issues happen in motion both on streets and highways
I was turning into a parkinglot where ithenproceeded to park my car into a parking spot. I put the car in park and the car continued to move forward. The car ended up hitting the building that was 2 feet in front of me. The car then reversed on it's own and charged forward to hit the building again. The second time it hit the building the air bag went off. I tried to put the car in reverse manually to prevent it from hitting the building. When i did this , the car accelerated backwards .
I was left stranded three times today in my 2017 honda civic ex-t due to the electric parking brake failure. My vehicle was parked in a parking lot and i couldn't go anywhere. I wasn't close to home. I was in another state.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While driving 10 mph and making a left turn, the brake pedal was applied, but failed to respond. The vehicle accelerated without warning. As a result, the vehicle drove over a curb, down an embankment, and crashed into a tree. There were no injuries. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed: p180531234. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
Steering and brakes locked and stopped working while driving at about 15-20 miles per hour on a residential street

While driving my car will put the brakes on if another care passes me on drivers side. This did it for a few weeks, then the collision mitigation system light came on and will not clear.cruise will not work.this has happened before, but never with light staying on.
While driving straight on the freeway the steering sticks while making small corrections to keep the car straight in the lane.its a catchy feeling causing me to overcompensate after it catches/sticks.also when sitting still waiting for a stop light the steering seems to jump a notch by itself.
When driving at over 50 when it's over 80 degrees. The steering acts up! when try to adjust a little bit it resist and then let's go slightly. It makes you over steer a bit. It's not a comforting thing when it keeps doing that! i found online that there is supposed to get a recall for steering assist. The magnet has come loose and out of place and causes this to happen! please look in to this problem!
While in motion at highway speeds. And even at slower speeds of 25-45 mph the car will sway left to right and i will overcompensate to correct the sway. It will start to pull right when i slowly try to correct it by shifting the wheel to the left. As a result it will jerk sharply causing a loop of corrections leaving myself and other drivers feeling unsafe. This has been an issue for months. Ive tried adjusting the wheel numerous times to see if it was an ergonomical issue but to no avail.
The steering sticks at highway speeds causing the driver to overcompensate and making it impossible to stay within the lanes. Also the steering wheel does not go back to center.

There is an issue with the steering on my 2017 civic. I noticed it several months ago and i believe it has gotten worse. The problem is most noticeable at highway speeds when the temperature is over 75 degrees. The problem is that if the steering wheel has been in the same position for several seconds, it tends to stick in that position and requires slightly more force to turn the wheel. I have found other reports of the problem on the internet along with a video of the problem at https://www.civicforums.com/forums/319-interior/370344-2016-honda-civic-lx-steering-wheel-sticky-stiff-jerky.htmla video of the problem is at https://youtu.be/w5x_cavhxmmthis has not resulted in an accident. I have not taken it to a honda dealer for diagnosis yet.the problem is reproducible.
I bought a 2017 honda civic back in dec of 2016 and currently, have about 15,00 miles on my car. The problem started a few months ago when i noticed that the steering wheel would start being sticky, stiff and jerky. The steering wheel would pull to the right and have this subtle movements, it would cause resistance. This was not frequent but the problem would show up occasionally. I have reported the issue to 3 different honda dealerships with no solution. I have had 2 alignments on my car but that did not resolve the problem either. The stick/jerk pull would start at about 30/40 miles into my drive and turning left or right would cause me to pull the steering wheel in the opposite direction. Reading civic forms, many are saying civic has the eps rack so that's causing this jerky pull.
"eps fault" fault in the electronic power steering. Steering is affected with check engine light and power steering light. Car not running right.in motion

While driving highway / interstate. Steering will make a sudden pull/jerk to the left or right causing to overcompensate. It feels as ifthe steering wheel is sticking/catching. It is not as noticeable when driving in slower in-town driving, but still happens. I researched symptoms online and found that a recall was issued, but my vin shows no recalls. I do not feel comfortable driving with this happening. I noticed that this started about a month ago. (may,2020) most noticeable when driving 50 mph plus (+).
Help
When driving on highways the steering has a catch/ jerk when making any tracking movement.it causes a jerk movement anytime you try to even slightly change your position in your lane. No warning lights are showing.
Steering and brakes locked and stopped working while driving at about 15-20 miles per hour on a residential street
Steering feels like it sticks while car is in motion on straight highway or fast city street, requiring extra force to correct steering, resulting in dangerous overcorrections.not noticeable when navigating a curve or corner.
The steering wheel sticks at speeds over 45mph after the car has been running for about 45 minutes.
While turning steering wheel at 180 degrees, grinding noises were heard. I returned the car to dealership. I was told that my left axle was failing. Only had the car for 8 months brand new. About 2 and half weeks later, the steering wheel felt stiff andthe grinding noise returned while turning the steering wheel at 180 degrees. I took the vehicle back again and now i was being told thatboth left and right axels need to be replaced; however, honda warranty only covers one axel to replaced at a time. Now, i have to go back the following week to have my left axel replaced again as it is 'pre-failing' now.
The vehicle, after being driven the day prior without issues or any engine lights, will not start the next morning.the only engine light that is on is the electronic power steering light.when i try to start the car, the battery doesn't even click.i even jumped the battery to reinforce the idea that this is likely not related to the battery - still no clicking.after online research, i found that there was a recent recall on 2017 honda civics for the same issue - the eps system.unfortunately, this recall is vin specific, and when i called honda to inquire about my vehicle, they told me that even though this sounds exactly like the other recalled honda civics, they were unable to do anything because my specific civic was not being recalled for this matter.for a car that is less than 2 years old, with no accidents, something as significant as an eps failure should be handled more seriously.this kind of failure, if occurring during operation of the vehicle, could result in major auto accidents.
The paint around the rear windshield is peeling off our 2017 honda civic. It started on the right side of the windshield and now the left side has started peeling pretty quick. There's one spot where the paint is cracked and some rust can be seen around the edge. There has been no damage to the vehicle and stays inside the garage when we are at home.
When pulling into a parking spot i put the car into park but the car kept moving forward, over a sidewalk and into a building. I put the car in reverse and could not stop the car until it hit another object. Had damage to the front bumper and grill.
Car is only a little over 3 years old and the air conditioning is blowing hot air! the mileage on the car is only 22832. Took it to the dealer & they said the condenser is damaged & the compressor is leaking due to "road damage". Called honda corporate for this since it is a known issue with their honda civics 2015-2019 about a faulty compressor getting holes punctured in causing the freon to leak out and they also denied the payment claiming a rock hit my car and caused the condenser to get damaged. Clearly honda needs to own up to this faulty compressor and recall the cars or just pay for the ac to be fixed instead of charging customers $2300 to fix a problem that can occur again! there are even lawsuits against honda for this issue!
Woke up at 4:30 am on this day july 18,2019 saw that my car was on fire (it started under the hood). It was parked in the driveway
I took my car in due to the recall letter i received at my residence addressed to me id# 14-034 stating cloud paint on roof and trunk and an extension was given. I remember it was a tuesday i took in because they specifically told me on the phone that is when pictures could be taken at the dealer and then sent in for approvals.i had some other things done on my car and there is record of it.however they said my vin number did not match the recall and took the paperwork that was addressed to me and said they would not take any photos of the car.at that time the clouding on my car was minimalhowever now a few year out it looks like acid spilled on my car.it's also interesting to see several other same model cars out on the road with the same issues.i did file a claim with the dealership then later told i would have to go through the dealer for any approvals since its way past the deadline.i did and was told i had to meet with a specfic person named casey and made another visit and was told they cannot do anything about it.so long story short been going back and forth and feel they are doing some shady business.so frustrated that i refused to buy my new car with honda and decided to buy a nissan rogue.i still own my civic but now i am deterred to ever buy another honda again.i feel i was taken advantage of when i went in during the time frame and i was there with my one year old daughter.
There is a rotten smell in the rear trunk every time when/after it rains. From my observations, the odor is coming from the spare tire well, not the trunk liner.the odor can be removed by spraying odor remover and have it ventilated. However, the next time when it rains, this odor comes back again. I am afraid that this repeated issue indicates water clogged somewhere beneath the spare time well.
The car was involved in a collision in 2018. It is now being reported on carfax as structural damage due to a $74 bracket that was replaced on the back. The car is now undervalued due to this.the car was making a left turn at an intersection when someone ran a stop sign and collided with the back left fender of the car. The car that was hit was at a stand still.
At about 10000 miles i noticed ripples in my rear roof pillars. Honda acknowledges that it is a manufacturing error and fixed it with body fill. I am worried if the roof will flex a dent like that under load that it may not be structurally sound.
I have an 8 month old 2017 honda civic ex-t and my complaint is with the quality of the glass used for the windshield. Currently, i have several chips and gashes in it. This is just city driving as well. I have seen many other posts online of other owners experiencing the same issue as well as the windshield easily cracking. Heck, i was reading a review on the car from a very prominent company and the windshield cracked during the review. Anyways, it seems like the quality or maybe the design is very much an issue. I have never owned an automobile whose glass was susceptible to damage.
This vehicle was purchased in may 2017 and in april of 2021 the paint started peeling off the exterior around the rear window. This does not put my safety at risk but i do see that honda has had this problem with many of their vehicles in recent years. This problem was reported to american service honda on june 4 2021, but because i am days past the expiration date of warranty honda refuses to diagnose the issue without cost to me. I did not immediately report it when first noticed because i had not realized how recent this car was purchased. But like stated prior, honda has confirmed the same issue for other of their models in recent years. I have owned other vehicles like toyotas and other brands to which do not have the same issue so it is not due to sun damage nor wear. Another issue is that the window trims on all passenger and driver windows are breaking shrinking and falling apart.again this is also known problem with honda cars in consumer reports.org all throughout the u.s . This may be of safety concern if they fall off while driving i wouldn't want it to land on another cars front window or perhaps the windows can be damaged or cracked. One last thing that is also a common issue for hondas, that is an issue for mine is that the front bumper is very low it gets stuck on parking bumpers this causes the sides to start breaking and if it were to fall off it would be a major safety concern.

I was driving in the highway on a pouring rain and suddenly my windshield wiper stopped. This almost cause me accident. Also, when i press my gas on a really fast highway, i tried to floor the gas but it wasn't accelerating, i had to switch gear for it to work.

I've only had my car a year. My car had been using oil for 2 weeks recently. I had to put oil in it every other day. My mechanic said it should not be using oil like that. I had it inspected and it passed and had my oil changed which i do every 3,000-5,000 miles. My emission control problem light came on. I called the honda dealership (not where i bought my vehicle) and took my car to them, but on the way there, my car started stalling and all the lights started flashing on my dashboard and it was smoking out of the back of my car. I had to pull over and have my car towed to the dealership. It took them two days to tell me that it was the turbo charger that needed replacing on my 2017 honda civic hatchback. This car is only 3 years old!! i am very upset and have only had my car for a year! i do not have the money to pay $2400 on a car that i'm still paying on. Very mad at honda!
Travelling to work in a highway of speed around 75mph all of sudden heard a huge sound. Got scared and pulled over, to my shocking the car moonroof was shattered
"all windows down" feature on remote key fob can be accidentally activated too easily, making car vulnerable to break-ins and interior damage. This feature cannot be disabled.
I brought my 2017 honda civic in feb/2019. My ac has not been used since i brought the car until it got really hot where i live this month. I called the dealer and they told me that the compressor is damaged because rocks from the highway has been hitting against it. I explained that i don't know if the ac was working from the beginning and that the car is so low to the ground that it is to expected for rocks to hit under the car. They then tell me that it will cost 1200 for me to get it fixed. Honda needs to fix this problem and fast because it is very hot.
Experienced damaged a/c compressor , just after completing 3 years and honda won't repair. Hundreds of honda civic owners has experienced same a/c issues and honda won't take responsibility.this should be a recall. Definitely a safety issue while driving.
The air conditioner stopped cooling and was throwing out warm air. When we took the car to the local honda dealer they said it was covered under an a/c condenser recall tsb 19-091:6c300. On 7/8/2021 after the repair was completed, the tech mentioned that even after they replaced the condenser there was still a leak in the compressor and we need to get that replaced as well. The compressor is not covered under warranty or recall and we may have to spend about $1200 for it.this 2017 honda civic was purchased by us on 8/31/2020 from another honda dealer who (we found out later) had already replaced the condenser under the same recall notice on 8/6/2020 before selling it to us. It seems the leaking a/c condenser is also damaging the compressor over a period or the entire a/c unit had manufacturing defects and should be covered under the recall.
A/c evaporator is leaking and expansion valve o-rings need to be replaced. This car has under 40,000 miles and already requires major repair on a/c.
Vehicle is 2 years old and we are dealing with a persistent, non-functioning ac system that seems to be a known problem in these honda civics. Honda corporate refuses to do anything about the problem, leaving the consumer with a $2500 repair bill, that may or may not be a long term fix, on a new car. We live in fl and not having temperature control is dangerous.
Air conditioner in vehicle stopped cooling causing excess build up of moisture on interior windshield and side windows impairing visibility and safe operation of vehicle. Raining prevented the ability to roll windows down to clear windshield and windows. Had to manually wipe the interior of windows and windshield to see constantly until i made it back to my home.
Ac line was never connected from the factory with built. Caused excessive water and passenger side floor board and caused mold on the carpet
Motor vehicle collision on freeway going68 mph speed upon impact by another vehicle, orbital eye fracture, split forehead, airbag may have deployed late
I received a letter from honda, stating that the a/c condenser on my 2017 civic was not manufactured to specification, which may allow refrigerant to leak out. The letter then states if the a/c does not blow cold air, to take the car to the dealer for a repair at no charge. However, when i took the car to the dealer, they would not look at the car unless i agreed to pay $330 for the inspection, in case the inspection shows the condenser is not leaking. I feel that if honda has a known issue with the condenser and if there is any indication of a possible failure (such as the a/c not blowing cold air), honda should pay to have it inspected to determine if the faulty condenser is the cause of the failure. But honda refuses to cover the inspection.can you please help?thank you.
The head rests are angled so far forward that it is causing me some severe neck pain. Only had the car for 3 months.
I have a 2017 honda civic. The air conditioner stopped working. It does not blow cold air.the compressor clutch does engage but no cold air will come out of the system. The car is not even 4 years old and has 45,000 miles it should not have to be recharged
Air conditioning system is not blown cold air.
Takata recall safety components related to driver safety which in relation relates to driver assistance. While driving cars in front sensors do not pick up and don't automatically brake lane shifting does not work.
Honda civics from 2015 on appear to have a problem with the remote control, in particular the sensor for the trunk. The particular car in question is a 2017 honda civic.extreme sensitivity results in the slightest pressure, without the owner being aware, activating the car trunk, and the trunk will open and remain open until the owner or someone closes it.a trunk that opens randomly and not by deliberate action is obviously a safety factor and needs to be addressed.dealers, service people, and the auto maker itself have all denied that the problem exists and that if it does exist it cannot be addressed because it is the owner's action that causes this problem.there has not even been a suggestion or advice as to how to deal with an overly sensitive remote or a randomly opening trunk.a car remote control which will activate an action just by a mere accidental touch, is an inconvenience at best, and at worst, a problem that needs to be addressed and fixed.a car with an open trunk can lead to situations which can be potentially dangerous, and not acceptable in any way.i am hoping for some action on the part of the carmaker and the auto company, as i am at a loss as to what to do and have failed to receive any acceptable response from those whom i have contacted.although one particular date has been provided below for this event happening, it has happened over 10 times since the purchase of this vehicle and can happen randomly at any time.
The air conditioning went out in my car around 40k miles. From speaking with others i hear this is a common problem and its the ac compressor. I know 3 others with the same car and all 3 of theirs has went out by 50k miles. This is a very common problem because i have checked online and saw many more complaints. Please do something about this because it is a very expensive fix and unacceptable for a brand new car!
The first time i had to turn on my ac for the summer 2020 season on my 2017 honda civic i noticed that it was blowing hot air. I took my car to a honda dealership where they identified not only was my a/c condenser leaking freon but also my a/c compressor is leaking freon. Both parts must be replaced. In august 2019 , honda issued a service bulletin for the a/c condenser as they discovered it was manufactured to standards and with the service bulletin for the a/c condenser an extended warranty has been issued. However, the a/c compress is not under an extended warranty. My car is out of the manufacture warranty (3 years/36,000 miles) period by 4,000 miles - not years. I live in the mid-west where i don't need to use my car's a/c often so i haven't used my a/c since fall 2019 when my vehicle was still under warranty. Searching online - there are vehicle owner complaints on the a/c units becoming defective during and after warranty period of 2016, 2017 and 2018 honda civic's. The in order to repair the a/c compressor, the estimated cost of repair is $1,200. The dealership has informed me that the parts are currently out of stock and that they have seen a number of civic's with similar issues.how ironic is it that within three years (not full three years) my vehicle's a/c condenser and compressor need to be replaced. Honda has acknowledged fault on one part but other the second. These parts do not become defective this early in the life of a vehicle.
Leak in 2017 honda civic hatchback ac condenser. Honda issued a service bulletin in 2019 for other trim honda civic lines, but apparently not the hatchback. The leaking condenser was the same problem identified in service bulletin but this vehicle vin was not identified. The recall or covered repairs should be expanded to cover all trim lines and vehicles. Honda only covered 1/2 of repair costs. The ac condenser leak resulted in no ac. This is a safety issue due to windshield fogging and visibilty.
The ac in my '17 honda civic hatchback went out and i took it to the local dealership (where purchased) to have it diagnosed.upon review, they informed me the ac's evaporator unit is leaking and it will cost $2k to replace.i'm aware there is a recall (tsb 19-091) on the condenser from 2016-2018 civics.honda came out with a tsb regarding this issue, all 2016-2018 civics have 10yr/unlimited mile warranties now on condensers. Tsb 19-091, dated dec 11th 2019.per the bulletin: " american honda is extending the warranty on the a/c condenser to 10 years from the original date of purchase with unlimited miles. This warranty only covers vehicles that have a defective a/c condenser from the factory. The a/c condenser was not manufactured to specification. As a result, tiny holes may develop in the condenser tube walls that allows the refrigerant to leak out. "however, there seems to be an equally large number of complaints online about compressors and evaporators failing in those years of civic as well.as such, it turns out failure across all the components of the ac system (compressors/condensers/evaporators) is relatively common after only a handful of years.i believe an amended bulletin should be provided to cover all repairs across the ac system.as a father, with two kids under the age of 2, it's not suitable for them to ride in a vehicle without ac.especially with the 100+ temps we get in the middle of kansas in summer.additionally, the lack of a function ac debilitates the function of the defrost making it extremely dangerous to drive in foggy, rainy, and/or humid conditions.there are multiple articles explaining these exact malfunctions as well:https://www.civicx.com/forum/threads/2016-2019-evaporator-failures-leaks.52319/https://www.reddit.com/r/honda/comments/lyne6q/2017_honda_civic_ac_evaporator_leaking/?utm_source=bd&utm_medium=search&utm_name=bing&utm_content=psr1there were no warnings prior to my ac going out.
10th generation 2017 honda civic lx sedan: first reported to the honda dealer in may 2018, the trunk mysteriously opens without any owner interaction. Have gone inside our home only to come out in the morning to find the trunk open. Just recently, in the last week of march 2019, the honda dealer had the car again and was not able to duplicate the problem. Then on sunday, march 31, 2019, the problem occurred again. We believe this to be an under-reported problem as some owners may think they accidently activated the remote key fob. This problem has shown up in the honda civic owners forum on civicx.com.
2017 honda civic hatchback sport, ac condenser unit went bad. This is a known issue with honda's however the dealership told me my model/trim is not included in the warranty extension even though the condenser is obviously bad.
The a/c does not work at all.with a/c on max, warm air blows.
017 honda civic a/c condenser failed from factory. Honda does not have replacement parts. Parts are back ordered 1-2 month customers only option is to pay for repair out of pocket.
The air conditioner stops blowing cold air at idle and occasionally even when driving. This may pose a safety issue in hotter climates if there are children, elderly people, special needs persons, or pets in the vehicle when parked.
My vehicle has been having issue with the a/c for a couple of week.two day ago my a/c stop working so i took it to my local honda dealer to take a look at it.they told me that thea/c compressor has failed and it's not covered under warranty due to my car having 41k miles.i tried to explain that the car is only a year old.they (dealership) did not want to cover it under warranty due to the miles. The repair cost was $1,500. I have read online that several buyer have had this problem.the dealer also mention that they have been receiving a lot of cars with the same issue.something needs to be done regarding this issue.also, i forgot to mention that the a/c triggered something in my vehicle that would not let it start for several hours. The car was parked when this occurred.i believe a recall on the a/c is entitled.
A/c condenser is defective but honda says my vin not covered under honda's 10 year extended warranty for this part. In addition, tried to get this part serviced under three-year warranty but honda service was closed due to covid 19 and the company has refused to extend its warranty period as other companies have done.
Vehicle lost all 1234yf coolant and was replaced alomg with a decarb and re-seal as well as a fill up and it is blowing hotter than before only 1 month after repair. I have lost approx2 full charges worth of freeon into the environment. It was leak tested twice and both places did not find the root of the problem and in april of 2020, hamer honda inspected the vehicle as i was buying out the lease and found no issues either, yet honda will not cover the expense of the diagnoses. Malfunction of the a/c system can lead to damage of other parts as well as the freeon leaking into the closed engine bay. Worked fine one day and the next it was hot air. This has been an ongoing and extremely hard to fix problem between the new type of refrigerant and the misdiagnoses of multiple accredited businesses. I do have documentation of the repairs as well but not on my device at the time of this filing.
Honda gives the condenser problem a extended warranty, yet they are not addressing the evap leak as their faulty. This evap leak is apparent to civic owners and they need to take the full responsibility for the malfunction. I drove over 3 years with less than 20,000 miles on the car, which should not have the a/c problem.
2 times startup problem...brake problem..parking brake problem..emissions system problem....brake hold system problem...power steering problem....vehicle stability assist problem...hill start assist problem... Collisions assist problem...all software problem and system error
My sedan isnt cooling since last 3 weeks. My local dealer honda dealer elk grove is charging me $450. Just to check this time with no repairs. I am concern its just 3.5 years old. Please look into this mileage 42000.
I purchased a 2017 civic hatchback ex w/ sensing in late may 2017.in may 2020, the ac stopped working.they told me it was the condenser and that they could give a "goodwill" replacement for about $350.at that point i was aware of the condenser extended warranty so accepted due to the compressor being the stated issue.with the pandemic i have not been driving a lot, but i noticed in september 2020 that my ac was not working again.i brought it back to the dealer, and now they say it is the condenser that is broken.however, the sb-19-091 does not apply to hatchbacks.this is ridiculous as it's clear even from a cursory search that hatchbacks are also impacted.they offered another "goodwill" fix that is even more expensive than the first one.when i called corporate they initially refused to forward my case.it's suspicious that the first time i brought it in they said the condenser, which at that point they never told me was not covered, was not leaking and instead said the compressor.now, it is suddenly the condenser and is not in warranty either.i expect if the condenser gets fix something else will be wrong. Honda needs to stop deflecting customers on this issue and fix their cars.this is a safety issue as it gets very hot in my region and it is not healthy to remain in an enclosed hot space for hours at a time.
The a/c stopped working at 2 years, 4 months, but as i am at 41,000 miles, it is no longer under warranty. I noticed it when driving on saturday, 6/29/19 that the a/c was no longer blowing cold air; this was on a day where the temperature outside was 99 in north carolina. The dealership indicates that the there are bad seals on the compressor. They have quoted me $2,100 to replace the compressor and add freon to it. I have seen many honda owners (2016-2017) complain of this issue and am wondering if there's any way to force honda to pay for these bad compressors?
Vehicle hesitating, failing to achieve more than 25 mph. Vehicle has lost driven gear at high speed and abruptly returned. Transmission was replaced, vehicle exhibiting similar symptoms. Transmission related grinding noise on warm-start, engine rattles on cold start. Collision mitigating braking system had a problem that was addressed by the dealer. Engine currently leaking large amounts of oil from around the head and onto surrounding wiring harnesses, a potential source of fire. This vehicle is not and never will be safe.
The car has a design flaw with the under carriage cover to the engine section.when a speed hump is encountered, the undercarriage hits it at the slowest speeds.eventually, it will cause damage.the car has under 11, 000 miles and it has been brought to the dealer's service manager's attention and i am told that the car is low to the ground.it is a design flaw since every speed bump hits the undercarriage cover.
Honda civic 2017 model uses new compressor to go with new refrigerant and seems to stop working without any reason.there has been no damage done to the car to stop the compressor from working, usual maintenance is kept up with the car. The car is 2 years old and should not have an issue with the compressor for no reason.
My 2017 honda civic exl hatchback has a little over 23000 miles. I bought it back in 2016 and have no issues until last summer. The ac blows hot air and under the hood there is a hissing sound coming from the front passenger side. I live in florida and thank god i have no children to suffer with me. I have to completely change my schedule to night because the heat is unbearable and i'm worried about my health and safety. I'm now aware that honda is having all this issues with the ac for years and have done nothing about it. The dealers only want to charge people to have it fix knowing it was defective from the beginning. Just a diagnostic is about $700. Do people need to die of heat strokes before doing a recall?
Car turned off doesn't crack up and says there's a lot of problems including break system.
The ac is not working, i took it to a repair shop and they replaced the air conditioner. They charged $1800. Under the 6 month warranty i took it back because it was not cooling, the repair shop said the car had little holes near the condenser which drained out the freon, they filled it again with freon
2017 honda civic air conditioner compressor has failed and is leaking. The condenser is leaking, which is a known problem and is being covered by honda, however they refuse to cover the compressor even though the leak in the condenser can easily lead to a failure of the compressor.
Car is under warranty. Driver side ac blowing hot air all the time. Infinite people have same problem defective for all honda civic
A few days ago, while on my way home from work on the freeway, i noticed the driver side ac started blowing hot air. Thought maybe because it was so hot. Checked the passenger side and it was a bit cooler. Cooler than the driver side at least. I kind of ignored it for a few days since it hadn't been so hot but today i decided to try it again and the same thing happened. Warmer air compared to the passenger side but the passenger side is still not very cold. Then i realized some fog like smoke coming out of the middle vents after like 2 minutes of it being on. I felt light headed and kind of out of breath so i immediately turned it off and pulled over to catch my breath.
The a/c condenser located in the cabin dash was replaced under recall earlier in the year for having a freon leak in the cabin. 6 months later the a/c is not working again, and the dealership suspects that the evaporator has a leak. Researching online yielded me similar results of owners reporting a condenser leak and then an evaporator leak with freon flowing into the cabin air. I assume being in a closed cabin with leaking freon is what spurred a recall on the condensers and, in my opinion, the evaporator should be in a similar scenario
I brought the car to the dealer on july 6 because the air conditioner stopped working and the car is under warranty. It is unsafe to drive the car without a/c in this heat and humidity. The dealer determined that the condenser had failed and that many 2016 and 2017 honda have had this problem. The part is on a national back order and they haven't been able to get the part. I opened a case with honda customer service and it appears that there are over 3000 cars with this problem. As of today, 7/19, their best estimate is that they may have the part on 7/25. No guarantee. My car will be out of service for nearly three weeks at the least. More importantly, many of these cars are being driven in this heat ,without a/c, which is definitely an unsafe condition.
A/c condensor has manufacturer defect. This vin is not included in the extended warranty detailed here https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/mc-10163796-0001.pdfa/c has been recharged with refrigerant, which continues to leak. The part has no external impact damage,!only the manufacturer defect tears. When a/c has refrigerant, a hissing noise was noticed during a/c use, until refrigerant fully emptied from the unit. There is already an nhtsa document detailing extended warranty of the part for honda civics, but it excludes hatchbacks.
Purchased 2017 honda civic new from dealership with standard new car warranty. At 41,000 miles air conditioning stopped working. Brough vehicle to dealership and was told new compressor was needed and repair would cost $986 + tax. Bought vehicle because of reputation for reliability. Something like this has never happened before and dealership even admitted that there has been a severe problem with air conditioning compressors for this particular year and make vehicle. After searching internet for information i came to realize that this is true and wondered how many other consumers were faced with the same type repair costing over $1,000? filing this complaint so that word gets out and someone can finally hold honda accountable for selling a product with a known defective component
Flashing flickering entertainment system. The system has also reset itself 2 times while in operation again flashing and flickering. The sound cuts out as well while this happens. I have a video recording of a partial incident. Honda refuses to answer my questions regarding my concerns for my safety regarding the issue. They also claim that the issue cannot be duplicated in the dealership. However this occurs sporadically and they have only look at it for a few hours even after i asked that the vehicle not be returned till the issue was resolved.
Honda repaired the condenser in my vehicle but the issue persisted and got worse, it blows hot air out the drivers side and cold air out of the passenger side but it blew pieces of ice out of the vent.
The ac vents started to make clicking noises as something was inside of the vent. Then, the ac unit would blow hot air on one side of the cabin and moderately cold on the other. Two days later the vents would blow hot air on the hottest setting. After getting the unit and car checked out, the ac compressor was cracked. The car is with the original owner and hasn't been through any accidents so for it to crack is very strange. Looking up forms, my vehicle is not the only one that this has happened to. Multiple vehicles across multiple states have had this issue happen around 37-42,000 miles. After brining this up to honda corporate, they stated the condenser will have a recall, but the compressor is okay which doesn't make sense because many people are using outside services to fix their vehicles and honda will not recall the part. They produced a bad batch of parts that were placed on their cars and now want the owners to pay for it instead of resolving the issue.
Air conditioning continues to not work right.compressor replaced and now a year later system looses freon and blows warm air again.these cars should be recalled and have the ac units replaced at no charge to consumers.
Drivers side of the car ac blows warm air. Passenger side blows cold air.
Ac in my 2017 honda civic only blows hot air or times cold air in some of the vents and hot in others
Thank you
I was burned on my left arm as a result of the airbag deploying. I could not see out of the windows after the airbags deployed. The vehicle was going appropriately 10-15 mph while turing left onto a hwy when it was hit by another vehicle
I started experiencing issues with my a/c within 12months of purchasing the vehicle. The a/c would blow hot air sporadically and when i brought the issue up to the service advisor to look into, they reported that they did not find anything wrong and that the a/c was functioning properly. This issue would continue to happen every summer up until now, where it has completely stop working and only blowing out hot air. I brought the vehicle back to honda and was told that the vehicle is now out of warranty and more than likely it was the condenser or compressor. I would need to pay for a diagnostic and that i would be responsible to upward of $1800 for the repair.
My vehicle's air conditioning stopped working. Went to honda dealership and had to pay $206 to flush the ac and replace the freon with dye. Approximately 5 months later the a/c stopped working again. Went back to honda dealership. The leak they state is due to the a/c compressor leaking. Honda provided an extended warranty on the condenser because they are having problems with defective condensers. The dealership stated they will not cover because it is the compressor, not the condenser. It appears honda has been having issues with all components of the a/c of these cars. They won't cover this as i only have 46k miles on vehicle and want to charge $2,049.00 to replace. In my opinion, the a/c system is defective and all parts should be covered.
"delayed shift into drive or reverse"when in park position, i shift the car to drive, and there is a slight delay in the engagement into drive; or when i'm on a ride and need to park and go in reverse. I step on the break and shift to reverse and notice it takes about a second to a second and a half to feel that the car has engaged. The delay happens if it's either cold in the morning or after it has been driving for a while.
I purchased a new honda civic 2017 with 11 miles on 1/7/17.21 days later, on 1/28/17 my car did not start after work.the tow truck had to jump start my car and after numerous attempts it started.i work downtown and it was dark and late.this is unacceptable for a new car.i took it to the dealer next day and they replaced the battery.i am fearful that my "new" car may not start again.
I purchased a new honda civic on january 7, 2017.previously my new car did not want to start on 1/28/17.21 days after my new purchase.i had the same trouble again when my new car did not want to start on 4/29/17 at 5:20pm.i was in a parking lot and it would not start.i called honda roadside assistance at 1-866-864-5211 and they said a tow truck would arrive at 6pm.they did not show up at 6pm.at 6pm i received a text that a tow truck would show up at 6:45pm.it was very hot and i thought i was going to suffer from a heat stroke.after many tries, my car eventually started at 6:15pm. I am very frustrated with this car.when i took the car into the dealership on 5/1/17 to clawson in fresno, ca. I was told they did not have any rentals and they would call me on 5/2/17.they did not call me on 5/2/17.i went to the dealership on 5/2/17 and they said they did not have any rental cars.i called honda corporate at 1-800-999-1009 and clawson honda authorized a rental car for one day.
As iwas pulling out of my driveway at night (the car had been sitting there all day), i heard a crackling sound and noise coming out of the rooftop. I stopped right away, got out of the car to see a big hole in the center of the moonroof glass panel. The glass fell on the on the inside roof slider (which luckily was closed). The moonroof glass panel was intact and not damaged from the prior drive. It just disintegrated on its own as i was pulling out of the driveway, and clearly not the result of a road hazard/impact as honda/dealership asserted (even though i told them the circumstances under which this happened).
2017 honda civic, 60k miles, started blowing warm air. Dealership stated it wasn't the condenser thats under active recall, it just happens to be the compressor. $2500 to fix, 3 weeks and i havent heard from honda corp. This presents a clear safety concern under wet and humid conditions due to condensation on the windshield.
My 2017 honda civic has been blowing out hot air. At just 36k miles. It is unsafe to be driving my younger siblings and nephew in this hot weather, my vehicle is a salvage so ā€it wasnā€™t applicable for me to get the recallā€¯ but i believe that shouldnā€™t matter honda purposely knew their were defects in the ac but yet do not want to own up to it and fix it.
Air conditioning - no longer blows cold air - there is no recall yet there are a lot of online complaints that the air conditioning in this year hondas quit working after 36,000 mile mark.
This to help all the others with the ac issue. 2019 bought the car and the ac barely worked. Have extended warranty with carmax and went to honda of winter park. Well my girlfriend did i was away. They charged her $350 to say the compressor was shot. And that the cost was around $2200. I find out and she goes to carmax with the estimate and they replace everything. We break up i come back get in the car ac doesn't work. Now i'm in lake city, go to honda, this is were you need to pay attention. The condenser was replaced, for free, they said it was $150 to find the problem. Had my 45k mile service done as well. Show up at the dealership and my cost? $0to my shock the service manager was honest. The condenser is under honda warranty. They waved the $150 cause i told them it couldn't be the compressor, had to be the condenser. And the they gave me the oil change for free. Do not let honda service around the country charge you for the problem they already know. $300, to $700 estimates? shameful. Go to honda tell them it's the condenser. If the ac seems to blow out of 1 vent cold while the rest warm, or the ac is cold when it's still cool outside, or even hearing a slight hiss under the hood. It's the condenser. Tell them you want the condenser changed. Nothing else! you have control of what they fix on your car. They know what's wrong without lifting the hood. My ac is ice cold. Took 3 years but it works. You don't have to be charged for diagnosis. And everyone that was cheated and treated unfairly there is a honda number of they're us home office. Call tell them. I was told by the service manager that $150 is the highest they go. Why? cause they have to remove the front bumper just to check. So be specific. I need the condenser replaced.
Honda civic is a 2017 and the ac went out> there has been a lot of civics from 16-18 that have had the same issues. Honda will not do a recall due to defective a/c compressor units even though there has been several cases. Summer is here and my 17 civic gets up to 110 degrees inside while transporting family. I have done some research and there is tons of websites filled with people complaining about the same issue. This has cost them hundreds of dollars and still no recall.
Vehicle loses ac refrigerant. They replaced leaky condenser after my having to take it in 13 times and fight with them. Now ac evaporator makes noise and they won't replace it because it hasn't completely failed. I paid 1846.00 extra to have an extended warranty but it has done me no good. Now my warranty has run out and i face a failing ac system known to have a refrigerant that eats holes in every part of the ac system. If my ac system fails and i can't afford to fix it, i risk fogged up windows and loss of vision and heatstroke when it is hot and i live in california and it is hot often.
Air conditioner fails to cool and instead blows hot air. Honda authorized service technician has confirmed that a defective air conditioner compressor has caused freeon leakage from the compressor's main shaft throughout the system.
6 weeks ago the air conditioner/windshield defogger stopped working in my 2017 honda civic that i purchased new with a 7 year/120000 mile warranty. I took it to the dealership who diagnosed condenser failure but claims they are unable to obtain parts to perform repair. Every time i call i get the same "in a few days" excuse.
I purchased a 2017 honda civic in november 2017. In august 2018 the ac went out. (i know in august right!). The service department at honda replaced the high pressure hose for the o-ring. The service was covered under my car warranty. Nine months later (may 2019) the same thing happened. The a/c went out. This time the honda service department replaced the condenser. It is even noted in the paperwork that the ac is blowing hot "again". The service was covered under the warranty. 13 months later (june 2020) while servicing an oil change, the honda service found a leak coming from the compressor. This time it was not covered under the original warranty, however through honda care i was charged a deductible ($100.00).
There is already a tsb for my issue. Referencing tsb 19-091 it states that all civics of all types of trim for the years 2016-2018 are applicable for a recall. However, there is no recall for the hatchback models? this is an expensive repair for something failing that should be working out of the factory and keep working. 50k miles on my vehicle.
My new car will let you turn off (push button) and get out and walk away while still being in gear.i exited my vehicle in this situation and it rolled down the drive and hit a tree.it was 3 feet from rolling into a highway that could have resulted in serious injury or death.older cars you cannot remove the key.you should not be able to turn off the car without some other safety feature to keep this from happening.
I was on an errand trip from alhambra to santa ana. Air conditioner is working fine until i stopped to drop off documents in alhambra. The air conditioner stopped working when i return and startup my car.my vehicle was at 66700 miles. No accident history. Norm reeves honda at west covina diagnosed both a/c compressor and condenser are leaking. Request goodwill repair from america honda but was ultimately denied.
The air conditioner stops blowing cold air at idle and occasionally even when driving. This may pose a safety issue in hotter climates if there are children, elderly people, special needs persons, or pets in the vehicle when parked. Reading through the world wide web or internet, thousands, if not tens of thousands of owners with this same issue due to a faulty ac condenser from the factory. Honda has extended the condenser warranty but has not issued a full recall or warranty on the other parts/labor involved. For example, expensive refrigerants, parts, and labor.the first condenser replaced in january 2020 and lost all refrigerant inoctober 2020.i took my civic into the honda dealership and got it tested for a/c leaks in september 2020. I was told it was not the condenser but another part next to the firewall, costing 440 dollars. I took it to another honda dealership a few weeks later and was told that there was little to no refrigerant. I paid over 300 dollars to get the a/c checked and the test was done with a dye solution that can be seen by uv light. There was no indication of leaks during the diagnosis. The refrigerant should be tested further or honda should replace all defective air conditioning parts all around. I know this issue will continue to occur because of underlying problems with honda original manufactured a/c parts.very respectfully,a worried parent
Sun visors (when starting from the door/window) swing when making a turn. This can startle the driver in the process of making a turn with oncoming traffic. More details: both sun visors do not stay fixed when turned to be next to the door window. Example, when the driver puts the visor next to the driver side window and makes a left turn the visor hits driver in the head. It's more pronounced when the visor is extended.online forum with similar issues: https://www.civicx.com/threads/weak-sun-visors.25794/
My air conditioner does not blow cold air as was working before.it has 30,000 miles. Dealership said condenser would be replaced if defective.it would cost $500. Toinspect and determine the cause. Defective condenser could have caused damages to other parts of air conditioning unit. I cannot afford $500. To inspect to find possible damage to operation of car, such as electrical, or leaks,or compressor. Along with refrigerant quoted by dealership at $150. Per pound. The air conditioning unit was poorly designed as a common issue other owners have experienced. Repairs could result in the thousands of dollars. No warning lamps , messages, or other symptoms noticed. I checked fuse and relay.freon refrigerant should not have leaked as i have never had this happen with other cars iā€™ve owned with much more mileage. Heat in parked car in sun could be detrimental to my young children. If car should be inspected by auto air conditioning specialist shop, and repairs made, would dealership complete repair of condenser if it is the cause. Auto air conditioning specialist would cost cheaper than $500. Their hourly rates are cheaper. To inspect and determine the cause. 2017 honda civic a/c condenser failed from factory. Honda does not have replacement parts nor will they provide an eta for new parts. Honda also refuses to provide loaner cars for affected customers. Customers only option is to pay for repair out of pocket and attempt to get a reimbursement from honda.
Tpms light comes on when tire pressures are ok.light comes on in dashboard after recalibating per owner's manual and after driving about 40 miles.
I purchase my 2017 honda civic in november of 2016. Soon after its warranty expired the air conditioner began getting warmer and not cooling down as much. The driver's side now blows either hot or warm air and the passenger's side blows cool but not cold air. The coolest the air gets coming from the passenger side vents is 61f but the passenger compartment barely cools down on warm and hot days. The air is supposed to be around 45f as it exits the vents. I purchased the vehicle with the expectation that i could cool the passenger compartment on hot days. Driving in the heat makes me sleepy. I called my local honda dealership and they wanted close to $400 dollars just to diagnose the problem and the cost could go up significantly depending on the problem. This should not happen so soon to a new car. I had a 2000 civic for 17 years and never had a problem with the ac. I found online that many other people are having this difficulty. A recall should be issued. With the ac problem the defroster now doesn't not work as well as it had done when the car was new. This increases the risk of an accident because clear windows are necessary to drive safely. The date i entered below is the approximate the date i noticed the ac was not working correctly.
A/c compressor failed. Mileage 51,000.
My husband was driving down the interstate (in november, it was a decent day and before the cold weather hit), no traffic around him and he was not near an overpass, when his sunroof exploded.he said it sounded like a shotgun blast.his ears were ringing for days.he took the car to honda that very day and they suggested it was a rock and he said absolutely not and insisted that they repair it.they did not argue and were very good to us and repaired it with no problems.my husband is really afraid it could happen again.
While vehicle was in motion on an interstate highway while entering a tunnel with no cars immediately in front of it, the collision mitigation braking system(part of honda sensing suite of safety features) activated and significantly braked the car, nearly to a stop, with cars at highway speed behind me. There were pavement markings that appeared to be ground off as a result of recent construction that perhaps the car's sensing system mistook for an object that it thought it could hit, but there was nothing obstructing the car's path. No cars were in front of me. This is not the only time that this system has operated oddly, but it is the first time that it applied the brakes. It has mistook shadows and sun glare as being objects and warned me to brake (albeit momentarily) but the car did not automatically apply braking in those situations.
Adaptive cruise control will fail to turn on. After attempting to turn on, accelerator pedal will have .5-1 second delay when attempting to accelerate from stop/idle causing near collisions.since purchase, there have been 10-15 episodes where i attempt to turn on adaptive cruise control while on the freeway but the system will not engage. I only get 3 beeps and an "acc off" indication on the dash. Once this happens, for the rest of that drive, there is apedal dead zone/severe acceleration delay when starting from a stop. This delay in acceleration has caused several close calls when pulling out with obstructed views as i press the gas pedal but get no response for what feels like 1 second while another car comes into view and is fast approaching.once the initial adaptive cruise control failure occurs, acc and traditional cruise control will both fail to start across multiple drives and engine starts. The severe pedal delay will return across engine starts as soon as the acc button is pressed. The only way to recover the functionality of acc and normal cruise control once in this state is to remove power from the battery and wait a minute, then power on the engine and let systems restart.car has been to dealers close to 10 times for this issue. In consultation with honda techline the following parts have been replaced but problem continues at random intervals: forward looking camera, forward radar sensor, main instrument cluster, pedal sensor, windshield, alternator, battery.appears to be some kind of software bug in adaptive cruise control system that causes system to crash and not work again until engine computer reset. I'd gladly work directly with honda for troubleshooting, i'm 3-4 people removed when working with the dealership and i feel like all my info is not being communicated correctly.
While driving on the interstate at roughly 60-65 mph my windshield wipes suddenly stopped working. They stopped mid window and would not move at all.
When i started driving it started to hesitate and then i got to my destination and then when i got back into the car i turned them on they went up and never went down.now they don't even work at all they're stuck in the position that i showed you the photo i have approximately 8k miles on this vehicle. They stopped working when i was driving i have 0 visibility its snowing here in oregon
My 2017 honda civic sunroof spontaneously shattered!the sky was mostly blue, the sun was shining, and the weather felt in the high 60s fahrenheit. I had departed my home in riverside, ca around 9am today (sunday, january 7th) and decided to open the sunroof due to the nice weather. I put the sunroof in the fully open position prior to entering the freeway. Note that the sunroof was fully intact and without damage at that time.asi was driving east on the ca-91 freeway,i heard a loud pop and crackling noise ‪at about 9:20am‬. I also felt very small particles fall on myarms and faceafter the noise. Traffic was very light, so there were not any nearby vehicles at the time of the incident.confused and cautious, i tried to close my sunroof. When the sunroof came out from the roof enclosure, i could see it was shattered and a large hole was in the middle of the glass. After exiting the freeway and stopping in a nearby parking lot i examined my car. I looked around and saw there was small pieces of broken glass on the passenger seat and near my gear selector, as well as a few slightly bigger pieces in the floor of my backseat of my car. I visited a near by honda dealer and they claimed it must have been hit by a rock or some other kind of debris. I find honda's explanation next to impossible because the sunroof was in the roof enclosure with only the front lip of the glass exposed, however, the middle of the sunroof is where the damage is centered, which was inside of the roof enclosure at the time of this event, and therefore seems highly unlikely road debris could hit the glass inside the enclosure. I have filed a claim with my insurance as well.i purchased my honda civic car brand new in december 2016, and it did not have any damage to the sunroof from the time of purchase to the time of this event.
2017 honda civic with 23,400 miles a/c once again stopped working. System was checked by honda and re-charged under warranty but a/c is not working again. This created a dangerous driving scenario in which the front window would not defrost during a heavy rainstorm
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While driving at unknown speeds, the windshield wipers were applied but failed to respond without warning. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (casey honda located at 12943 jefferson ave newport news, va 23608) where it was being serviced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 3,750.
2016 new honda civic 2.0 engine oil leaking ! ! ! 2017new honda civic 1.5t engine oil increased13 mmthe same station 2017. New honda civic wipers broken , reversing radar broken increased oil 13mm is not a malfunction! engine oil increased, repaired twice, not repaired, honda said no way
Air conditioner in vehicle stopped cooling causing excess build up of moisture on interior windshield and side windows impairing visibility and safe operation of vehicle. Raining prevented the ability to roll windows down to clear windshield and windows. Had to manually wipe the interior of windows and windshield to see constantly until i made it back to my home.
Front windshield came defective from factory with air bubbles between the glass and the rubber affecting the integrity of it, that also makes the glass weak and it cracks too easy. My problem with the glass happened while the car was parked inside my garage with just letting the wiper fall on it while i was washing it. Itrepresents a potential hazard and safety issue for me and my family.
Wipers failed while vehicle was in motion during rainy conditions. When activated, wipers engage into upright position and stop. Wiper motor is running but wipers fail to return to resting position or to clear windshield. Outermost wiper is striking vehicle paint. Complete failure of wipers while vehicle moving in rainy conditions.
I had the wipers on and it was raining. The wipers stopped working before they reached the down position on the windshield. They would not work after that. I was driving the car on a city street going forward.
I was driving in the highway on a pouring rain and suddenly my windshield wiper stopped. This almost cause me accident. Also, when i press my gas on a really fast highway, i tried to floor the gas but it wasn't accelerating, i had to switch gear for it to work.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While driving approximately 60 mph, the sun roof made some popping sounds and the glass shattered without warning or impact. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to honda of stevens creek (800-692-2129, located at 4590 stevens creek blvd, san jose, ca 95129), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The sun roof was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, stated that there was no recall, and provided the contact with a reference number. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000.
I was driving on the freeway (going on the same lane & similar speed as any other car) and suddenly my back-right tire bursted. I pulled over to the shoulder, called triple a and found out that the entire rim of the rims was cracked and teared from the inside, but the tire itself remained intact and unpunctured.i took it to the honda dealership service center to get a replacement and diagnostic but the maintenance service claimed that it was due to an impact going over a possible pothole vs material defect of the wheel, thus voiding the warranty.since its a new car, i believe it shouldn't be able to crack and be completely teared so easily due to a pothole (which is a very common thing to encounter). I feel at risk due to this incident because i'm uncertain of the durability of the rims model itself. Not only was i driving on the same lane as any other car, but cars that were in front of me & behind me drove by just fine. If it was solely a possible pothole mishap, then a new car like this should be able to handle such a minor impact from typical driving. Unfortunately, honda services said they couldn't really do anything about it and could only stand by the dealership's diagnostics. However, i don't think i'll feel safe with a claim like this unresolved. Especially when its a 2017 model car, my safety feels more at risk now because of what may happen to any of the other 3 wheels due to a common pothole incident to completely tear-apart the metallic rims from the insidewhat they concluded: "if it happens again, then report it again for this to be escalated". But to me, it makes no sense to wait for it to even happen again when its a dangerous risk to my life. I believe they should be more responsible to prevent it than to wait for it to happen again. Just because they replace one rim, doesn't mean it could prevent it if it is an overall defected model.
Paint from factory is peeling off . My car only has 33,000 miles on it . I was washing my car and as a sprayed off my car with a light flow of water i saw pain chips flowing down the street. All of my wheels are starting to peel away slowly. I rarely drive so this is concerning to me.
I purchased a 2017 honda civic 5/16.it needed a tire replacement 2 weeks later.a replacement tire was put on by a tire shop.they replaced a continental procontact with a continental contiprocontact of the same size.since then the tpms error message has not been able to be reset.after 7 monthsi was finally told the "newly" designed 2017 tpms required all 4 tires to be of the exact tire model and tread wear for it to be reset.meaning we have to replace all 4 tires now with only 12,000 on them.or drive with a the tpms warning on until they need to be replaced.i have contacted honda and they told me it was not their issue, and i should have read the manual very closely to see one cannot just replace 1 tire.......the honda service shop didn't know about this new engineering requirement either as they haven't had to replace 2017 tires yet.i feel this is a unfair and unsafe issue.the original tire shop was contacted and told me they did not know about this "honda" issue when they replaced the tire 7 months ago.the tires "look" exactly the same.driving with the car as it is now, with the tpms always on despite adequate tire pressure, doesn't seem to be a "safe" option either.if one of the other 3 tires has a failure, with the tpms already activated, how will we be warned.....thank you for your attention to this problem.
I just bought this car "new" from coggin honda in jacksonville florida at 11003 atlantic boulevard on 10/17/17, it's production date in the drivers-side door jamb is 02/17, it was originally dealer prepped at the honda dealership on 2/21/17, the date code on all four tires are 50/16, indicating the 50th week of 2016, or manufactured between the dates of 12/11/16 - 12/17/16. Upon driving it home almost immediately after purchase, the (tpms) tire-pressure-monitoring-system light in the instrument cluster came on. Sixty miles later, after arriving in my town of residence, i took it into my local tire kingdom tire store to have the tire pressures checked, two tires indicated 21-pounds of air-pressure, the other two tires indicated 22-pounds of air-pressure. The manufacturer sticker in the drivers side door-jamb indicates the tires should be at 32-pounds of air-pressure. Afterwards, upon driving it at no-more than the national posted speed-limit of 70-mph, the tires have excessive road-noise, with a slight vibration. Meanwhile, i brought the car into the dealership to have the tpms recalibrated, so the tpms would go out. Upon close inspection of all four tires yesterday, they all have small bulges on each tire, and this caused me to check several online websites for further investigation of possible consumer complaints of these tires. They are continental pro-contact tx grand touring all-season, in 215/50-17 tire size. After checking numerous online websites and reading all-kinds of negative reviews for vibration, excessive road-noise, bubbles and cracking in the sidewalls, and reading they are filled with foam from the manufacturer to keep the road-noise down to a minimum, which apparently prevents the tires from being patched from the inside for punctures, and also coming apart from the sidewall after being remounted on a tire mounting machine, i am scared of them.
The contact owns a 2017 honda civic. While driving approximately 65 mph, the tire pressure warning indicator illuminated. Occasionally, the tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) indicated a low tire pressure warning; however, the tire was correctly inflated. The contact stated that the front passenger tire was flat, but the warning indicator never illuminated. The vehicle was taken to o'brien honda of bloomington (1602 general electric rd, bloomington, il 61704, (309) 663-9591) where it was diagnosed that the tire tread depth was different on both tires, which caused the tpms to malfunction. The contact was informed to manually turn off the feature. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 09501888. The approximate failure mileage was 12,400.
I was driving on the highway when i heard a "pop," there was no alert or warning on the dashboard, but the adaptive cruise control wouldn't cooperate. So i went over on the side of the highway and i found out my passenger rear right side tire had blown out completely.
Front driver wheel bearing. My civics front driver side wheel bearing had to be replaced at only 15,000 miles. After further investigation, the factory wheel bearing had no greese or lubercation inside of it causing it to wear down prematurely. I had to bring the vehicle in 3 times for honda to actually repair the problem. I was told multiple times it was 'road noise'. The wheel bearing would make a loud 'buffering' sound between 30-70mph. The noise would also get worse when going around corners.
