Dear honda american,i have written to you a number of times regarding the safety notices.either you are unable, or unwilling,to read my notes regarding the honda civic ex ([xxx]), destroyed in a car accident in september 2014. The air bag - passenger side - exploded in a collision and took out the front windshield. My air bag - drive side - never deployed!!i was injured and required extensive physical therapy.i am still in pain from the accident.every day. My dog, dayz, inside a safety-belted-into-place dog carrier, was injured.within two weeks of the accident, she began having seizures.as a result of the accident.we had to put her to sleep at the end of october 2014.i repeatedly tried to have the air bags replaced before the accident.the local honda dealerships were unhelpful and uncooperative. They are by the far and away the absolute worst when it comes to customer service.the word "proactive" has never entered into their vocabulary. In fact, i would not purchase a second honda because they were such moronic idiots.your cars may be the cream of the crop in japan, but here in the usa, we expect good customer service to accompany the purchase of a car. Which is severely lacking in any of your local dealerships. I would never recommend the purchase of a honda to anyone based on my experience with the local dealerships. Please do not send me any more literature.about trading in my car.about a safety recall. Nothing. Thank you,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. After a minor crash with a second vehicle, the air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The driver side seat belt would no longer retract to secure the occupant. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that there was no issue with the seat belts. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 10,100.
The airbag system is defective. I have always been getting the sign indicator check your air bag system.this has been happening for the last one year
Driver side airbag warning came on while in motion on a city/town street, stayed on while braking, turning and stayed on while driving. Due to the warning the car was driven slower then the speed limit for safety concerns.car has a takata airbag. It went off on the day we took it to the dealer. They scanned the unit and found error "b0001-13" . They supplied a printed out reportafter replacing the airbag and added a hand written comments, "the harness passes the box test and the clock (un-readable hand printed word) passes the box test."
I was involved in a collision where the entire front of the vehicle was collapsed including the frame being bent after i rear-ended a nissan armada who braked suddenly in front of me.the airbags did not deploy, and the car was rendered totaled.
I have started to get a "check air bag system" warning light on my dashboard. It doesn't happen when i start the car, but occurs at some point while driving. The diagnosis is a bad steering wheel position sensor. The car has never been in an accident; there's no problem with the rack and pinion; and the air bag has never deployed.
The car just sped out causing the airbag to explode. ...updated 01/07/15
Takata recall
Air pressure on my front passenger tire has been low since a month into the purchase of this car. The alert only went off once, but when i got the tires refilled, the tire still seemed flat. I just let it be because no further alerts came on. But i was in an accident and slipped on snow the other day and hit a curb, which deployed my airbags. I do not think that if this tire was defective i would have gotten into this accident. I was going around 10mph, as i was pulling out of a parking lot.
My 2014 honda civic ex just started having problems with the airbag warning notification going off sporadically. I took it to the honda dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with the car after running it through the computer.it went off for a little bit and now it goes on and off with or without people sitting in the passenger sit. I happen only once i start driving and it doesn't matter if i'm sitting at a light to moving.i've noticed that other honda's have had similiar problems when searching the net.i don't know if this will impact the deployment of the airbag if i get into an accident either.i believe it's a seat sensor gone bad but i don't know what to do about it.i've already been to the dealer where i purchased the car new.
While driving along at normal speeds, my vehicle alerted me that the airbag system needed to be checked. I immediately called the dealership where the vehicle was purchased and an appointment was made for me to bring the vehicle in for inspection. I took the vehicle in to the dealership and was told that they were unable to find anything wrong with the system. The srs light was reset and i was advised to contact the dealership if the light came on again. I did not make it home before the light came on again. I again contacted the dealership and was advised that i would need to bring the vehicle in and leave it all day for them to be able to determine what is causing the light to come on.
My airbag light comes on and stays on for awhile but the airbag on the dashboard light always says its off if my car is not affected in the recall then why is my lights for the airbags coming on
Check airbag system light would come on sporadically.dealership said spiral cable and airbag inflator had to be replaced.not under recall or warranty.owners responsibility $1343.99.would mark vehicle 'unsafe' if removed from dealership without repair. How does this 'just happen'?
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact was concerned that the air bag might not deploy in the event of a crash. The vehicle was taken to momentum volkswagen (located at 2405 richmond ave, houston, tx 77098, (844) 894-5462) where the following codes were found: b0001-13 (permanent dtc open increased resistance in the driver air bag first inflator) and b0050-13 (permanent dtc open increased resistance in the driver seat belt buckle switch). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 44,820.
Check airbag system alert comes on and off while driving. Upon bringing it into the dealer, i (the owner) owner was told that codes 11-10 and 11-18 (airbag module and inflator) on driver side, and it is not covered by warranty. If the vehicle is involved in an accident, the driver side airbag will not deploy.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the contact became distracted and crashed into a curb. As a result, the seat belt failed to retract and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact encountered the steering wheel and the air bag warning message and air bag off warning lights illuminated. I was hit by a car turning left and my airbags did not deploy.the cars screen had an alert on it with the words "airbag failed".my vin is not in the recall however i am concerned.the aribags failed and i'm lucky that i was ok.the car is deemed a total loss due to the airbags failing.
The airbag deployed (exploded) on my face while driving at 35 miles/hr in the back road. Nothing was hit.. It just deployed. This happened on november 2016.i reported the incident to my insurance and was fixed.
I received a notice about a recall for my vehicle and was urged to act promptly in getting it fixed. I was told in the letter to call my honda dealership so they could order replacement parts and then schedule to drop off my car for them to be able to install the replacement parts.i called duval honda on cassat and was told by the service desk that they were not ordering parts until i brought the car by for an inspection first, but they could not inspect any car after 3pm. I find this extremely unsatisfactory since most of us that own these cars work for a living. The lady i spoke with called her manager and he confirmed that no, they were not inspecting cars for this recall after 3pmi called a different dealer in town and they are ordering the parts without seeing my car and i have scheduled to drop it off with them.you should know that not all dealerships are helping people with this problem!

The display on my '14 civic showed "check air bag system". I took it to the dealer, they cleared the code to see if it came back. It did about 8-days later. I took it back in and they replaced the cable reel in the steering column. Problem solved, warning message went away. 3 months later, "check air bag system" light comes back on. Carrying it to the dealer today(12/09/19) for inspection.

After driving and making a complete stop and unbuckling my driver side seat belt. The check airbag light comes on.
Yesterday the check airbag system light was illuminated on my 2014 honda. After having a mechanic check the error code, he confirmed there is an issue with my airbag inflator. My vehicle has approximately 75,000 miles and is driven approximately once a week. The issue occurred when i turned my vehicle on and started driving.
I, [xxx], attest that the event described below is the truth of what happened in the accident on 03/30/2014. Side airbags did not deployed. On sunday march 30, 2014 i hit very by another car that ran the red light. The galant was going at a speed of 55 mph when it hit me, the force was great that the cars then smacked together and sprang out again. I notice that the air bags did not deploy; side or even front. I called my parents. The florida highway patrol arrived. Five minutes later my parents arrived. The jso and fhp then ignored me for 20 minutes, while they talked with the other driver. Damage was front driver side wheel was bent slightly in-ward at an angle, axle rod and strut shot, wheel well had de-welded from the main body. Crumpled around the driver side wheel, driver side doors where not dented but a slight warp was in the doors so they did not complete top closure. Rear driver side lamp and bumper cracked/detached. In the interior, the center console where the gear shift was had popped the plastic.my vehicle was taken to pearl collision center, who estimated that they could fix the damage. When i questioned this, the representative stated that the car was not totaled due to damage was deemed 30% of the actual cost of the vehicle value. I questioned why the air bags did not deploy and if they would be checked. I was hit pretty hard and why have air bags for safety if they don''t work. I also questioned the transmission and engine. State farm would not answer my questions or would america honda about thoroughly checking the air bags.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

After having the car for 1 month the tire light came on saying from the computer on the dash "check tire pressure."i went to where i bought the car twice and nothing was wrong with the tires and they shut the computer symbol off.then 3 months goes by and it comes on again, i brought it in and they claimed "there was a small leak in the tire." majestic honda fixed it?? and made me pay $100.00 for this. Now it is june 29th, 2015 and my light went on again and in another tire it was low.the tire was actually low and i had to put air in it. I will be taking the car back to majestic but i think that #1 the first few months something was wrong with the computer, i do not think there was any leak in the tire, i looked at the tire and i did not find where they "fixed the small leak." now in another tire it is going flat. I have read that you have had problems with the tires and i do not feel that i should have to pay for this. You had a recall on certain models but not mine, there is something wrong with the tires and your electrical with the tires. Please call me back and let me know what is going on.i do not think i should have to pay for these tires when their was a recall and maybe you missed mine. Also my friend bought the exact car i did and her light "check tires" goes on consistently.
After replacing the battery, car develops a electrical drain to battery. Battery will slowly discharge until dead over 2-4 days. Nothing about this or how to prevent this in manual. Nothing in manual on how to correct.
Motor made funny noise when passing and would not stop clicking. Currently at honda dealership in or need new motor bearings ceased 3 year old car 60,300 miles. No warning lights came on no check engine light. Currently getting motor replaced
The "check tire pressure" light is on. I've gone to the mechanic twice to get it checked out and it is still there.
The car currently has about 40,000 miles on it.the door lock system has a mine of it own.door will unlock during left hand turns, or when i press on the inside door panel of drivers side door.i am not talking a lot of pressure, one finger pressing on the arm rest or slightly above and behind the arm rest will open the locks and generate a warning message.most of the times when this occurs the car is in motion, but i can duplicate the fault if the car is running and in gear.
Car just randomly diedwhile traveling on the road. Happened few times within the last four months- this is totally unwnated and painful ordeal. No issue with battery nothing wrong with alternator and everything just as good for a 2014 civic but wtf moment did take place and i am so helpless about what to do with it, dealers are also speechless as i did two diagnosis ....dont
Inflate tire light went on in less than 24 hours of driving.learned from parts manager that this is common and a software issue.no fix right now.hands free calling works about 50% of the time.not safe to use while driving and frustrating the other half of the time.honda corp. Says this is common and we need to get used to it only working sometimes.mileage on sticker said 30mpg city / 39mpg highway.i get 22-23 mpg on suburban streets (not short city blocks).this is worse than my 2001 honda accord that i traded in for this civic.one of the reasons i bought the civic vs. The accord was due to the great mileage i was assured i would get on the civic.not even close.i am a loyal honda owner for the last 25 yrs.this is my 4th honda and it will be my last.i view this car as a lemon.no car (especially a honda) should need to be fixed in the first 24 hours of ownership.it's been to pauly honda 3 times in the last 2 weeks of ownership.they have been very defensive.beware.honda does not make the cars that it used to make.
Vermin chewed up my engine bay wiring harness wires and the initial potential fix will cost $360, if the damage is worse it will cost another $1500 at least.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at various at speeds, the tpms warning light illuminated with check tire pressure message displayed on the instrument panel. Got in car to start it and car rolled backwards while in park and all systems failed could not start car or stop car from rolling had foot on brake pedal , dash board was going thru all systems telling me everything was failing . Double checked park position ,car was in park.. Only way to stop rolling was to put emergency break on. Called aaa same thing happened when tow truck driver tried to start it . Total failure of electrical systems.had it towed to my local garage. Will never buy another honda again ! 1 more year on the lease and i am out !
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the check power steering system light illuminated and the steering wheel became difficult to steer. The contact coasted into a service station, restarted the vehicle then resume driving at 30 mph but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was able to restart and was driven to the contact's residence and parked. The contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v574000 (power train) and was waiting for the dealer to supply the part for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.
The battery is discharged without reason and the tires sensor show low pressure.
I have a leased 2014 honda civic ex, my lease began 11/2014. In 9/2016 i was driving about 45mph on a side road with speed limit 45mph when my car lost power to the gas pedal, i could floor it without any response, and numerous warning lights came on (power steering, vsa, hill start assist, tpms, emission, transmission, etc). I was able to coast to safety and wait for a tow. Upon arrival at honda, the car was 'back to normal' and the techs couldn't find a problem so they called it a fluke and returned it to me. 2 weeks later i was just leaving my house, about 5 mph out of my spot and up to a stop sign, and the same thing happened again. Had the car towed to the same honda and waited. I was told a week later they couldn't find a problem and i would have to pay for them to keep looking. Not happening as it was under warranty and a manufacturing problem. I immediately opened a claim with honda. They looked for a week more with no luck and were about to return my dangerous and undiagnosed car to me when it happened for them; i am unaware of the circumstances. They kept it another two weeks when they guessed it was a faulty computer and put a new one in it. Fast forward to 2/2017 and it has happened yet again. I was going about 7 mph in a parking lot, pulling up to a stop sign, and about to turn onto a 50 mph, 5 lane road where i for sure would have been in an accident had it occurred there. It has been towed to honda and i have zero intentions to take this death trap back, and i have even less faith that an actual problem will be found yet again. The attached photo shows the lights on this most recent time, taken while in park. You can see the lights on, d lit up while in park, and the needle at 1 even though i was not moving.
The accessory power outlet failed without tripping the fuse.the outlet failed after an air compressor, that has been used in 5 other vehicle models with no issues, was connected to inflate the front passenger tire. The vehicle was repaired at the dealership, piazza honda of pottstown, pa. I reported the concerns via an email to the service department.searches on the internet confirm that others are experiencing this issue. There are two safety concerns. 1 - the power outlet burning out before the fuse trips could lead the an over-heating and weakening of wires resulting in a potential fire and2 - the defective power outlet can leave a motorist stranded if the tire can not be re-inflated or kept at proper inflation levels.
The vehicle stability assist (which also affects the traction) does not work.the system was designed to come on each time you start the car.it can only be turned off manually.my car shows the system is off at all times. I am unable to turn it on manually.the owner's manual says the vehicle should not be driven with the system off. Honda says they are aware of the problem, but currently do not have any way to fix it.this is a significant safety issue.the oil life screen has also disappeared from the information screen in the last two weeks.again, honda has no solution.this is the same vehicle referenced in complaint #10598540.

Was traveling about 25 mph on southlas vegas boulevard in las vegas, nevada, went to accelerate around a car and pushed the gas pedal down to the floor to kick it into another gear.the engine revved upand the pedal wouldn't come off the floor even when i tried to pry it off with my foot.. The car continued to rev uncontrollable until i put it in neutral and shut the car off as i traveled down the road.i pulled into a parking lot.there, at a stop, i started the car,put it in neutral, pushed the gas pedal to the floor to see if it would do it again and the car revved up.i let my foot off the gas, and the car continued to rev up with the pedal not returning back towards me-stuck to the floor board again.i had to shut it off again to release the pedal and stop the revving.

The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle shook, lost power, and the engine seized. The vehicle was taken to causeway honda (457 nj-72, manahawkin, nj 08050, 609-597-0033) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000. Consumer stated the vehicle has beeen repaired. Failure was loss of power and noticable inability for the transmission to shift.
My car has 41k miles on it.while i was driving, the a/c suddenly stopped working and hot air was blowing. I also heard a rumbling noise coming from the engine.i took it to a mechanic a day later, and after a full day of diagnostics, they determined the entire ac compressor unit needs replacing.they could not find this part from any dealer, and none of them had a release date for the part coming in.there were also no after market models of this part made.they contacted honda directly who said they are releasing some 9/29/19 and you can put a deposit down, but there is no guarantee to receive one because of how many people need this part.several people told me that if none are in stock, and so many people are having this issue, it likely means there is an issue with the part, and honda may be holding off on releasing more.it is unsafe to drive my car currently because if the ac compressor unit locks up it could affect the entire belt which connects all parts of my car, causing it to be completely unable to drive.i also live in texas, and it is in the 100s, and i don't have ac which is a health and safety concern as well.
Vtc actuator makes grinding sound at start up.
I started driving out of a parking lot and the car had a sudden unintended/uncontrolled acceleration while driving (or in motion). I was able to brake the car after approximately 1000 ft.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. The contact stated while driving 20 mph, the vehicle shuddered and stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive it to the residence. A dealer was contacted and the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure however, there was no assistance provided. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000. Consumer was told software was outdated.
This has happened countless times since the day i purchased my car and drove it off the lot. It doesn't matter how fast or slow i am driving, when i take my foot off of the gas pedal, my whole car jars forward like it is my transmission and it missed a gear. It has done this since i drove it home from purchasing it. It makes me nervous because my son is in the back seat and he can tell every time it happens because his head jolts forward.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving 35 mph, there was a loud banging noise under the front side of the vehicle. I have a 2014 honda civic with 136000 on the car that has a transmission problem starting. Some 2014 honda civic were recalled for a transmission problem yet my vehicle, 2014 civic model miss the recall. All civics have a pretty similar setup as far as the engine and transmission. As far as honda goes they are known for there engines lasting a while and having no issues yet i have a transmission issue that is yet unknown and will cost at least 5k to fix.over the past few days the cars ability to accelerate and downshift has gotten worse. This car has a automatic transmission yet when you slow down then go to accelerate the car jumps gears, you get the feeling as if you are on a motorcycle and it stalls and jumps forward. Along with that there's a slight noice that is working overtime. (incident occurs around 2mph-65)

The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.updated 06/15/16*ljthe consumer stated after the engine was replaced, the vehicle, at a cold start, exhibited an unsafe 7mph forward acceleration. This made the vehicle difficult to control. Also, the vehicle consumes excessive fuel. The cold engine start noise defect continued with the replacement engine. The transmission locked up and did not move the vehicle in to drive gear. The manufacturer was notified. Updated 11/20/2017
Hesitation when accelerating at 6-10 miles per hour.also, 16-20 miles per hour.problem occurs on slight uphill but is not all the time.

Purchased my vehicle 5-28-14 from criswell honda in germantown, md. First problem occurred 7-8-14 i noticed there was a wet spot on the side panel by the window on the drivers side. Went in to criswell 7-11-14 to complain about the issue. Went back 7-14-14 to complain again. After being given the run around, the sales manager allowed me to bring it in on a saturday (7-19-14)after the service manager told me i could not bring it in on a weekend, service had to be done during the week. Was not going to be provided a vehicle to get to and from work. Problem was said to be caused by a block in the ac valve. Second problem occurred 9-13-14, i heard a whistling sound coming from my sunroof while driving on the highway, i was going 75 mph. Took it in to hersons honda 9-18-14 and picked it up 9-19-14. They had to replace/order a new window for my sunroof because the original window came unglued from rubber sealing. Complained to american honda for the second time for my car, was provided a rental. Third problem, went in for routine oil change 3-21-15 at criswell, service advisor told me my car had a fluid leak. No one at the dealership could or would tell me what type of fluid was leaking from my car or where the leak was. Service advisor asked me to bring car in on 4-4-15 to have it looked at, allowing me to leave their dealership with a leaking vehicle.

I leased a new honda civic and i can not drive it without excruciating pain in my neck.the headrests shove my head forward and i can not find a comfortable position. I am heartbroken, angry and in pain.after my first 30 minute drive in this car, i researched online this issue and there are thousands of americans with the same problem due to the new head restraint regulations.i certainly would not have signed a 3 year lease agreement if i had known that i was agreeing to pay thousands of dollars for three years of pain.i've tried adjusting the seat height, adjusting the tilt of the seat and the headrest height in every combination i can think of and all i can achieve is a barely tolerable driving position where i can barely see over the dashboard and the headrest is raised high enough that it doesn't touch my head - nor protect it as designed. I understand that this is mainly an issue with passive headrests and that the active headrests are a better design that stay out of the driver's space. My only option will be to reverse the headrest for the next three years and hope my car isn't rear ended.although having my new car totaled would be a blessing because i would have a chance to find a vehicle to drive that doesn't hurt me physically.i see that these forward tilting headrest complaints online go all the way back to 2008 when the new regulations came out that forced car manufacturers to produce vehicles that torture a significant number of americans every year.i would have gladly paid $200 or $300 more for an active restraint system that stayed out of my way.the nhtsa should be ashamed for their disgusting callous disregard for the thousands of people who suffer every day due to these government-required headrests forcing their necks and spines into unnatural and painful positions.
There seems little to no clear coat on the car and scratches easily appears on paint of car.
Couple of weeks ago iwas driving and the car kept going with full speed flying with no control to stop it . I did get to make the full stop of avoiding hitting the car in front of me . But i did get rear ended .
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While accelerating from a stop, the vehicle hesitated to shift into gear. The low beam headlights failed to illuminate the roadway adequately at night. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was left for diagnostic testing, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Sorry -- this is to delete my complaint filed on june 9. Nothing's wrong after all.
When i started the car at dusk and tried to put the night-time headlights on, all the interior lighting went off. When i switched to daytime running lights, the interior lights went back on. Tested a few times, and every time the night-time headlights wiped out the interior lights.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving approximately 25 mph and activating the passenger side turn signal, the lane watch camera failed. The vehicle was restarted and resumed to normal function but the failure recurred on several occasions when the passenger side turn signal was engaged. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
Had to apply brake with left foot and then apply gas peddle with right foot for immediate acceleration to avoid accident. Upon applying brake and then the gas car bogged as if to stall almost causing another accident. This has happened several times since initial incident. I took car to fox honda, michigan (dealer where car was leased from) and they indicated that i shouldn't break with left and then give it gas with right. Unfortunately there have been more than one scenario where this was needed to be done and in each case it bogged to point of stall before accelerating. Dealership said there was nothing they could do.
My car is 2014 honda civic ex-l navi with pushbutton engine start/stop.i was approaching an incident on the highway and had slowed down to about 30 mph.i thought i should activate the 4-way flashers as a warning to other drivers.when i pushed the button, i pushed the start/stop button by mistake and shut off the engine.the start/stop button is just behind the steering wheel, and the flasher button is about six inches to the lower right of the start/stop button.of course when the engine stopped i lost power steering and power brake boost.it was really hard to control the vehicle at that point.thankfully traffic was light.the steering wheel was turned slightly to the left and i continued to coast slightly left. I order to restart the engine, i had to put the transmission in neutral and push lightly on the brake pedal.this is a difficult sequence to perform when one's vehicle is dead and coasting with minimal control.by the time i restarted the engine and regained control i was approaching the jersey barriers in the center of the highway and was being passed by the vehicles behind me.the start/stop button is real easy to operate.it does not have to be fully depressed, just a slight touch will activate it.more force is required to operate the flasher button than the start/stop button.plus, the start/stop button protrudes from the surface of the dash and can be easily pressed by accident. The start/stop should be recessed inside a shroud and activation should require a full depression and be held for at least two seconds.and ideally the flasher button should be relocated to the top center of the dashboard.the event date and mileage are approximate.
Please see attached .pdf file to bring you up to date. I just learned this problem is also being experience by an aircraft mechanic friend who has a 2016 honda civic.

Hesitation when press on accelerator.they is very dangerous when getting out into traffic and when you press on accelerator there is a long hesitation.i have reported this to honda service numerous times and they say this is normal and can't duplicate the issue.
While driving on a country road, car engine rpm increased, but slowed to a stop.had to tow it to a dealer.
Purchased new 09/2014 pohanka honda of fredericksburg, va.when accelerating after a slow down or stop, this car will often hesitate,or stall, sometimes will not accelerate at all momentarily , when i press the gas pedal harder it surges forward suddenly.ithe service department said that i must get accustomed to this new type crv transmission.next they told me to change the manufacturer of the gasoline.then i was told they could find no fault with this car and to continue to report any problems.i have driven many cars in my life and have never experienced this type problem and not be able to correct it.while i continue to drive this car, i am very leery about its performance especially the surging.we have had this car thirteen months and my wife has only driven it two times.my passengers have asked me many times what is the problem.i am very afraid this car will get out of control and hurt someone.
This is an update to complaint number 11024938
When the engine is running gas is pouring out from underneath the gas tank..the gas tank is next to the exhaust pipe.
I fill my tank up the gas meter reading reads full i drove about 285 miles gas meter still reads full i drove 100 miles more and ran out of gas the meter still readsfull the miles on my vehicle is 15785 miles
Our 2014 honda civic has 37k miles on it and we were driving it on the freeway when it began to feel like the gears were slipping or not shifting. It felt like we were in neutral and couldn't get any power. It happened very quickly and there was no warning or check engine light. It was towed to a dealership. They discovered it was the transmission solenoid and it came "unplugged" and was leaking transmission fluid which resulted in low pressure and the transmission stopped working.
Transmission fill plug popped out of its position on top of the transmission fill port.causing leaking trans fluid and now transmission failed.
Transmission fill plug popping out of its position on top of the transmission fill port.causing leaking trans fluid and possible transmission failure. Dealership has checked this issue 1 time and states the issue has been resolved. Less than 3 days later the same issue occurred.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving at low speeds, the transmission made a "whining" sound and the vehicle began to jerk without warning. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact called hennessy honda of woodstock (8931 ga-92, woodstock, ga 30189, (770) 924-9000) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v574000 (power train). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000.
On january 17,2021, i was driving on a 2 lane road going approximately 75 mph (the speed limit) and all of a sudden all of my cars warning lights came on and the car started decelerating. When i pushed on the accelerator, the car revedbut didn't pick up speed. I pulled over off the road and turned the car off and then back on. The car would start but nothing happens when i pressed on the accelerator. I had my car towed to a honda dealership an hour away and they said it's going to be $6000 to replace the transmission. They said my specific car had no recalls on it and that sometimes things just break. The mechanic noted that my car is in excellent shape otherwise.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While accelerating from a stop position, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The failure recurred multiple times intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 750. Updated 02/12/16*lj
Transmission completely failed at a stop sign a month out of warranty at 49k miles. Was driving from my parent's driveway to said stop sign, around 100ft. Stopped at the stop sign, tried to move and got no traction.next day had it towed, independent technician said the transmission was shot. Brought it to krenzen honda in duluth, mn, they said transmission was shot. There was no suggested maintenance for the power train beforehand. Honda of america is claiming i didn't perform required maintenance but did not provide any information as to what that maintenance was supposed to be.honda of america is refusing to fix it, even though there's an active recall for this model and for this failure mode (cvt being destroyed) but oddly enough not my car. This shows that there are other vehicles outside of the recall liable to have this happen. Service tech at krenzen said that this happens quite frequently.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While approaching a traffic light, the vehicle stalled and all the indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic and metal shavings were found in the transmission fluid. The vehicle was also towed to albany honda (903 e oglethorpe blvd, albany, ga 31705, (229) 432-9700) where it was diagnosed that a new transmission needed to be installed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was unknown.
I bought the car brand new in early 2015. Never had so much as a slip in the transmission. Got a recall notice in 2015 about a sensor for making the "check tire pressure" light stay on when starting the car. Honda tells me they fixed this in december 2015. On august 27, 2020, while driving down the road on a very dangerous highway, the transmission just stopped. No noise, no pop, no stutter. The car started decelerating and every error message known to man came on the screen. Check power steering, check tmp system, check engine, check transmission, etc. I was able to pull over, barely getting across the line and having to sit and pray for half an hour that the huge cars barreling toward me would not hit me.got it towed to king honda. A technician called five days later and said the transmission is shot. I can either pay $6000 for a transmission from honda, or i can pay $2000 for a used transmission. He said the drive shaft pulley broke. I asked him about the recall number 15v574000 that says the software settings that control the transmission operation may result in damage to the transmission drive pulley shaft. He said there was no recall on my car. He said he'd talk to his manager and call me back. He left a message saying the transmission has come apart on the inside and i would need a new one. In the meantime, i'd called the dealer where i purchased the car. The man told me it was just something that happened. I asked about the recall. He said it had nothing to do with it.my husband called and the man listened to him and agreed that these things don't "just happen" to a honda that is less than 100,000 miles with no notice, no problems, no noise. He agreed to have a look at the car and said if the drive shaft pulley is in fact broken, it would be related to the recall. We towed it tonight and will wait to see what they say.
From purchase date 10-24-14 thru today, when vehicle begins to accelerate from a dead stop, there is a complete loss of power for @ 1.5 seconds before acceleration resumes. This only happens when turning left or right, never straight forward. These episodes happen 3-5 times per week. The honda transmission is the "cvt/ drive by wire system". I drive @ 20 miles per day. It has been evaluated 3 times at the dealership here in longmont, colorado and they have not found a problem saying everything is ok. This problem is not ok for a new car and is a safety issue.
I was driving,my son has bipolar disorder and he was on the passenger seat;he got upset and shifted gear from driving to neutral while i was driving at about 60 miles per hr.isn't suppose to lock geat while the car is moving?
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving various low speeds, the transmission exhibited a severe vibration with a complete loss of acceleration. There was no prior warning of the failure. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and towed to the dealer. The mechanic discovered metal shavings in the darkened transmission fluid and stated that the transmission would need to be replaced. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v574000 (power train). The contact mentioned that if the vehicle were serviced under the recall, it may possibly have prevented the transmission internal damages. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
2014 honda civic.consumer writes in regards to vehicle transmission recall notice 15v-574.the consumer stated he received a recall notice in the mail, and scheduled an appointment. The dealer did a software change. However, the consumer stated the software changed only reduced the stress on weak pulley shafts and therefore, the fix was only temporary, because the pulleys were still weak.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving on a long trip at 50 mph and towing an approved trailer, the rpms went up and down. The vehicle traveled up and down hills sluggishly. The contact pulled over to the side of the highway and shut off the vehicle. Once the vehicle was restarted, the failure recurred approximately 20 minutes later and the vehicle decelerated. The contact pulled the vehicle over again and had it towed to borman honda (280 w boutz rd, las cruces, nm 88005, (575) 525-4500). The dealer stated that the transmission failed and the vehicle should not have been pulling the trailer. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was approved by u-haul to pull the trailer and there had been no issues in the past. The contact paid the diagnostic fee, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 43,297.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving 10 mph, the vehicle began to jerk violently without warning. Tell us what happened:at approximately 8:00 a.m. December 18, 2014, my husband was driving to the store when the vehicle stalled out on him in traffic. Again, it was fortunate no one was hurt. The 2014 honda civic which i purchased from frank fletcher honda in bentonville, ar, has been brought back to the dealership six times from september through december 2014. The vehicle was brought in due to stalling issues and jerking type motions. The dealership technicians along with the general manager [xxx] , stated they could not replicate the issue each time the car was brought in. I filed a complaint with honda america. Approximately three days after filing the complaint with honda america, [xxx], my case monitor, advised me the vehicle was running as it was designed. I disagreed with her as i have with the dealership technicians and gm [xxx]statements that nothing is wrong with the car. I told the dealership i was going to keep bringing in the car until the issue was fixed. I was advised not to bring it in because there was nothing wrong with it. I reminded them i have daily issues with the car acting like it's going to stall and it has jerking motions when driving. I am afraid to drive this car but frank fletcher honda has given me no choice but to continue to drive it. This is my third complaint with nhtsa over the same issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
On december 20 at approximately 1:30 p.m., my husband was running an errand to the store when the car stalled out while driving on a two-lane road. The car was purchased new from frank fletcher honda in bentonville, ar. The car has been brought back to the dealership six times from september through december 2014. This is my sixth (6) complaint to nhtsa. Frank fletcher honda technicians state they cannot replicate the issue. I have expressed to general manager ryan blake that i disagree with the findings as i drive the vechile every day. I have had issues with the car since i purchased it. While sumpathetic, mr. Blake stated there was nothing he or the dealership could do. After expressing my concern for the safety of my family, i have been forced to drive this car as it is the family's only source of transportation. Mr. Blake, mr. Fletcher, and the dealership technicians basically ignored my concerns until nhtsa was contacted. Hondaamerica has also become involved be there has been no resolution. I am reaching out and asking that a resolution be reachedso i not have to drive what i consider to be an unsafe vehicle. I don't really like to talk about this but i have an incurable liver disease and it would put my mind to rest if i knew i have reliable transportation.
Car was parked in a parking space in park .
I was driving home from work on the freeway and when i got off the freeway i stopped at the stop light when it turned green i started to push the gas pedal and the car started jerking back and forth like it wanted to stall i pushed on the gas a little more and it continued to jerk at each stop light when i accelerated. No warning light came on no codes and it just happened suddenly with out warning . I parked it and took it to the shop the following morning

Driving on 95 north around 4pm monday 03/29/2021 when transmission failed. There were no loud noises, no service warnings or lights. Car has about 75,000 miles and the transmission was last serviced in 2018 at 60,000 miles. The car has routine maintenance records. The recall (nhtsa id: 15v574000) was performed in 2016 which was a software update due to a mechanical transmission problem.
The transmission is slipping and it trying to accelerate when i put it in drive i have to put the gas puddle to the floor and vibration on the seat it's a cvts transmission it was the pully that was fixed on the last recall i'm driving a loaner car is there any recall on the slipping or cvts in general thanks
I was driving and it felt like a tugging on the passenger front wheel. When i would turn the tugging was worse. Then i turned around to go home and the car wouldn't move at all. All the gears were gone. The gear will go in the gearevery gear but it wont go forward or backward. I don't think it's the transmission but it's possible the passenger axle or something in there or i could be wrong and it's the tranny.
I have currently lodged more than six complaints with this agency in regard to a 2014 honda civic i purchased new from frank fletcher honda in bentonville, ar. The vehicle continues to experience the same issues on a daily basis. This includes stalling, transmission slipping, jerking and an overall rough ride.the dealership was served on february 3, 2015with a certified letter making a written demand under the arkansas new motor vehicle quality assurance act (act 297 of 1993) to provide compensation under said law. Honda america was also served with the same letter. The dealership and honda america have had ample time to correct this situation but have done nothing to date. Both entities have placed me and my family in jeopardy by choosing to answer my request for a safe vehicle. My attorney, who drew up the letter, stated the car falls under the "lemon law"and i'm currently driving "half a vehicle."

I was driving my car on the city streets when the cvt transmission started to make the car act erratic stop and go stop and go. I had to put the transmission in neutral so that i could control it and move to the side of the road. I was so glad i wasn't on the freeway when this happened. I purchase the car used in april of 2015. I always had the car service at the dealership when service was due. And two years ago i had to replace the transmission because it completely shutdown after getting off the freeway. At that time the car had went over 100k miles so i had to pay $2000 to replace it. And it looks like i'm going to be paying $2000 again.i didn't know that there was a recall for the ctv transmission, until a few days ago when i was looking to see if any one else had this problem. Because i purchase the car used i wanted to see if the recall was taken care of, it looks like it was. But i don't think that a software update is the complete fix for this problem. So many people are still havingproblems with this transmission.some with low mileage like my second transmission and most of them fail around 100k. I know nothing last for ever, and i will pay $2000 for a new transmission if i can be sure that it will not just all out of the blue lockup or brake part of the drive train and put my life in danger
Received recall nhtsa recall 15v-574. Under high stress drive pulley shafts with low hardness can break! remedy is to reprogram cvt to reduce stress.very serious safety issue and no guarantee it will prevent breakage.need shaft replaced!!
Car did not pick up speed and did not change gears
I was running errands and parked car in a lot.upon return to the car, it started up but was not able to drive when i placed gear in drive or reverse.the car refused to move despite turning off engine and restarting it back up.car had to be towed away.found out there was a recall for this car which if not corrected can result in transmission problems.we had never gotten notice of this recall.we are the original owners and had not moved addresses.car had less than 58k miles under the 60k miles powertrain warranty but was only 4 months over the 5 yrs period.american honda was only willing to pay 50/50 for a new transmission.i was lucky the transmission did not go out while driving on freeway at a higher speed as that would have caused some major accident losing power with no advanced notice and having no control of the car.we feel if this recall was sent out and it was corrected, the transmission would not have gone out to begin with.it is very disappointing and scary to know there are other cars like mine out there which american honda is not taking full responsibility for their product and putting harm in their customer's safety.
As my husband was turning a corner, the clutch dropped, and the service center reported that the clutch fibers are torn up.cost of repair = $1700. We have been lifelong manual transmission drivers.we do not misuse vehicles, and the clutch going out so soon for us in particular is indicative of a manufacturing problem rather than operator error.
I was driving the 2024 honda civic going about 20 to 25 mph abd came to a complete stop at a stop sign then tried to accelerate to go ,and thats when i realised that the car would accelerate but not move like the car was in neutral
This is the seventh(7) complaint i have filed in regard to a new honda civic i purchased from frank fletcher honda in bentonville, ar. The car has also been taken to the dealership seven times with no resolution. I am still being forced to drive a vehicle which is not safe. At approximately 1:45 p.m. My husband picked me up from work for lunch. As we were driving down the rode, we felt a "slipping" movement and the car began to stall out. Following this was a series of small jerking movements as we continued to drive. A week ago my attorney filed legal documents under the arkansas auto lemon law against honda america. The vehicle has met all requirements under this law. I am hoping nhtsa will take my complaints seriously and monitor honda america's actions towards consumers and the vehicles that are being sold which have safety issues.
This is the sixth complaint i've made to nhtsa for the same issue. I purchased the car new from frank fletcher honda and it's been to the dealership seven times from september through december 2014 with no resolution. On sunday december 21 the car had two separate incidents where it stalled out. The first was at approximately 8:45 a.m. My husband was driving to the neighborhood market to pick up breakfast items when the car stalled out. The second incident occurred when me and my 15-year-old were driving to kohl's to do some christmas shopping at approximately 3:30 p.m. It stalled out as i was turning off the main road into the parking lot. This upset me, especially since my child was in the car. I don't want anything to happen to her due to a flaw in the vehicle. I have no choice, however, since we only have one vehicle. I need help reaching a resolution with honda america and frank fletcher honda. I have a problem with the car every time i drive it.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v574000 (power train); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact stated that the suggested remedy was not adequate enough. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Vehicle stopped moving forward when in gear. No grinding noises which usually accompany transmission failure. Had it towed to dealership, code indicated vehicle needed new v/t sensor. Sensor was replaced, cleared code, did not resolve issue. Now dealership says they don't know what's wrong and want to replace transmission. Honda issued recall 15v574000 for this very issue, but for some reason my particular vin is not part of the recall, so no warranty work can be done at this point.
On friday, december 19 at approximately 2 p.m., my husband and i were pulling out of the parking lot out onto a four-lane road when the car stalled. Out. I had just gotten my haircut and was heading back to work. I purchased this as a new car from frank fletcher honda in bentonville, ar. The car has been brought back to the dealership six times from september through december. The technicians and the dealership general manager [xxx]have stated they cannot replicate the issue. Due to this, the dealership, [xxx] and the dealership owner [xxx] are giving me no choice other than to drive a vehicle i'm afraid to drive. Hondaamerica has now become involved in the situation but there has been no resolution. I have a child who rides in this car and i fear for her and my safety.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I recently purchased a 2014 honda civic from a local dealer and driving it for almost 3 weeks with no problems but last night on 08/30/2016 i parked the vehicle at a friends house in their driveway on a slight and put the vehicle in park and turned off the engine like i have been doing thousands of times and began exiting the car. The front door was obviously open and the vehicle began reversing! the front door knocked me down since i was so startled nothing has ever happened to me like that before. I have been driving for over 40 years. Fortunately, i am limber so immediately got up, jumped back into the vehicle andslammed on the brakes that did not work either so turned the car into the closest rockery to stop it before it hit another car or a house further down the hill. Obviously, my rear and front fenders are all badly scraped by the rocks clearly visible in the pictures i took. The rockery is fender high so no question. No other scratches could look like this. I went on line and sure enough, found a recall regarding the drive train transmission for this particular make and model. I needed to get this on the record since i could have been seriously hurt. I purchased a new honda civic 2014 on 6/27/2014. One month and a half later during my morning commute, each time i tried to speed up to 50 miles/hour, i started feeling some jerkiness. Since it was a new car, i was not sure that it was normal or not. About a week after that, one morning when i was very slowly pulling the car out of the garage, the car stopped and the engine died. I turned on the engine and tried to move the car again. This happened 4 times on the same day. Next day i called the car dealer and took my car for the inspection. They found that the transmission had a defect and it had to be replaced. Then on 10/19/2014, when i was driving a street, i got a tire pressure warning. My husband helped to add air to the tires, but the warning sign did not disappear. On 10/27/2014, when my husband was driving the car in the afternoon, a series of warnings appeared (vsa, tpms, eps, abs). After he got home, he called the dealer to ask for towing service to take the car back to the dealer as he did not feel safe to drive the car. The car was towed to the dealer next morning. The dealer replaced the abs sensor and performed the software update for the vsa system. However the dealer stated that it could happen again.
From a dead stop, when the honda starts to accelerate, there is a complete loss of power for @ 1.5 seconds. These episodes usually happen when turning left or right although it happened for the first time accelerating forward today. These episodes happen 3 to 5 times a week. I drive @ 130 miles a week. This is a safety issue especially in rush hour traffic where reliable acceleration is important. I have had the car evaluated 3-4 times by the dealership which cannot replicate the problem. The dealership has only driven the car @10 miles for their tests which is half of what i do on a daily basis.
My vehicle transmission went out on the highway brakes locking up then smoking. I was told by honda it wasn't covered by warranty but later found out it was a defect in the transmission which wouldcause the breakdown.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly began to shudder and it became difficult to maintain the desired speed. While driving uphill, the vehicle lost power. The contact had to change gears to d2 in order to continue driving. The contact stated that it felt like the gears were slipping and the vehicle made a loud revving noise while attempting to stop from high speeds or attempting to accelerate after being stopped. The contact took the vehicle to the ocean honda dealer where it was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v574000 (power train); therefore, the vehicle would not receive the repair under the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
The transmissions fill cap keep popping off and causing transmission fluid to spill as well as exposing the inside of the transmission to the elements, causing the transmission to jerk while driving.
Clutch disintegrated without warning.the clutch friction material dislodged, tore into large chunks, and jammed between the pressure plate and flywheel.this caused the clutch petal to drop to the floor and kept the clutch engaged.there was no way to disengage the clutch.there was absolutely no warning before this happened.i had entered the freeway and shifted into 6th gear about 10 miles before i noticed a problem.when traffic slowed in front of me, i tried to shift into 5th gear, but couldn't find the clutch petal -- i finally found the petal was completely depressed, and couldn't get it off the floor.in the process of trying to find the petal, shift into another gear, and stop the vehicle, i almost ran into the car in front of me.up to this time when i tried to shift into 5th, everything appeared to be acting normally.clutch has never been abused during its entire life.
On december 6, 2014, my husband was driving to pick up my granddaughter. At approximately 9:05 p.m., the vehicle stalled out and died while my husband was driving. Before this incident, i had taken the car into frank fletcher honda in bentonville, ar, six times for stalling issues. The dealership techs stated they were not able to replicate the issue. I lodged a complaint with honda america and was assigned case monitor [xxx] 800-999-1009, ext. [xxx] (case no[xxx]). Approximately three days after i lodged the complaint, honda america advised that the vehicle was designed as it should be and saw no reason to assist with my concern. I continue to have the issue and since my husband's experience with the vehicle dying, i have been nervous driving it.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My husband was driving my 2014 honda civic on december 17, 2014 when at approximately 5:30 p.m. The vehicle stalled out on him in traffic. Fortunately, no one was hurt. I purchased this vehicle from frank fletcher honda in bentonville, ar. We have brought the vehicle in six times from september through december complaining of stalling, jerking issues. I lodged a complaint with honda america. The dealership technicians stated they were not able to replicate the issue. After speaking with frank fletcher honda, honda america stated they were closing out the case since the issue was not able to be replicated. This is the second time the vehicle has stalled out on my husband. This is my second compliant filed with nhtsa. I am afraid to drive the vehicle but the dealership managed by[xxx]is unwilling to do anything because the issue cannot be replicated. I have a 15-year-old girl and it scares me when she is riding in the car. The semi-stalling, jerking issue occurs every time i drive it.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Starter clutch shudder/judder started before 41k miles.this is a long term (decades) known design issue with honda civic hybrids.this can impair ability of vehicle to start in traffic from a full stop and/or prevent vehicle from being able to travel up hills.dealer recommends $380 'burnishing' procedure as a 'first step'.starter clutch replacement is the next step (>= $2000).vehicle just left warranty in december 2019.
This car has had a continual problem with the tire pressure sensor mechanism and has been serviced three times without any success. And when the brand new tire blew out the sensor failed. Also the power train is bad, the car drives sluggish and loses power during turns and also in just regular driving .. I do not feel safe in this car at all.
Motor made funny noise when passing and would not stop clicking. Currently at honda dealership in or need new motor bearings ceased 3 year old car 60,300 miles. No warning lights came on no check engine light. Currently getting motor replaced
I received a recall stating my car had a faulty part in the transmission that could break and lock up the wheels.there fix is to reprogram the engine so itexerts less stress on the faulty part. I feel this is a serious safety issue and that the defective part should be replaced.
While i was driving down a busy interstate with numerous cars around me, my car gave a small jerk. After this, my car motor was still running, but had no power. When i pressed the gas, no power behind it. I was coasting and slowing down. After almost getting run over by the vehicle behind me, i was able to coast to the side of the road. There are multiple similar complaints with the transmission for this year model.
When i exit the fwy my car started to shake i try to accelerate but it wouldn't advance while in gear . I took my car to the honda it took 36 hours for them to tell me it was the transmission. No warnings about the transmission no light nothing just a really scary shaking hard shaking.
In december 2017 while driving the vehicle and proceeding from a stop sign the vehicle made a loud pop and began to roll backwards.the vehicle would only stop when pressing on the brake.switching the shifter from drive to park did nothing and did not prevent the vehicle from free wheeling.after having the vehicle towed to the honda dealership they informed us that the transmission broke apart internally at 86k miles.while honda replaced the transmission and only charged us for labor i recently found out that there was a recall on this issue just not with our vin number.

The head restraints on both the front driver and passenger seats cannot be adjusted forward and backward to accommodate different bodies.for both my wife and i the restraints pushed our heads forward (no matter how adjusted up or down) and didn't allow our upper bodies (shoulder blades, etc) to touch the seat.this is very uncomfortable and gave both of us back and neck pains.this was with the seat adjusted in a comfortable vertical position for us.the head restraints push our heads forward and cannot be adjusted forward or backward, only up and down.in all other respects the car is excellent.
Horrible back/neck pain badly designed driver's seati just bought a 2015 lx. I like the car but the front seats, the driver seat for me, are really poorly designed in a concave shape. After about 30 miles or so, i was in terrific back pain, like my back had been wrenched. This is beyond discomfort, graduating to health hazard. I am trying lumbar supports with limited success. I was driving nissan rouge, which gave me no problem. I have also driven a number of other cars recently.i need help here!!
This complaint may seem petty to some individuals but it serious issue. The seat causes severe issues with lower hip and back. I am very active young individual and started experiencing pain preventing me from hard physical activity. Visited multiple doctors, therapists, and chiropractors. I should be better but sitting in the seats makes pain reappear. Driving this car is a big physical health danger and should be taken seriously from honda.

My son had a car accident on 1/30/2016. A couple of cars in front of him had to make a complete stop because a squirrel was crossing the street. His velocity was aprox. Under 30 miles. When he hit the brakes, they did not respond inmediately and this resulted in a car crash with the car in front of him. The airbag also deployed. This happened on a street close to our home.

Car was parked in a parking space in park . Got in car to start it and car rolled backwards while in park and all systems failed could not start car or stop car from rolling had foot on brake pedal , dash board was going thru all systems telling me everything was failing . Total failure of electrical systems.had it towed to my local garage. Will never buy another honda again ! 1 more year on the lease and i am out !
Will not stay in alignment. 3 attempts in 40 days and am shrugged off by the dealer. Have complained about inconsistent breaking pressure needed, will not check breaks have extremely loose steering at high speeds, have lack of abs intermittently, strong burning smell after 30+ minutes of cruising on highway. Loss of power when warm outside. Will not reset from tire rotation and oil filters maintenance minders
While moving downhill, two warning lightsxame on in the vehicle and brakes became hard to press, making it difficult to regulate our speed.

The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the check power steering system light illuminated and the steering wheel became difficult to steer. While driving 65 mph on the highway, vehicle steering/wheels locked up causing the car to slide into a barrier, resulting total loss of vehicle.
On al sr149 "green springs highway," southbound, less than 500 feet from the oxmoor rd intersection, in the right lane, i hit a pothole with my front passenger tire. I did not notice the pothole while driving, but that didn't stop it from knocking the wheel out of allignment and bursting the tire. I had to use the emergency tools to change the tire on the side of i-65 after my tpms sensor went off. If i had not decided to buy a spare tire months ago, i would be set back at least $150 dollars. Please be more vigilant in ensuring safe driving conditions in the future.
Automatic steering keeps going off (warning light is coming on the dash) and he has to steer manually; unable to do so in a safe manner; steering essentially locked

The taffeta white paint started peeling off the car within just three months after originally purchasing in 2014. The paint continues to peel off in various places and is causing the body to corrode and rust. Honda refuses to do anything about this. There is no reason for it to be peeling off at the rate it is. This has been happening since just after purchasing the car and will cost thousands to fix the rust and repaint. This is a major issue that honda has not acknowledged and itā€™s happening to many people.
The new honda civic 2014 was purchased from a dealer three months ago. Car only has 2600 miles now. Big chip on owners door handle, and one other significant chip on side panel. Also multiple little chips on hood and on front bumper once i looked carefully. Small now but will rust and peel and unfair to sell car like this.salesman said i just sell them not fix them. Took it to a body shop that i paid to replace plastic door handle. And used silver bottle of paint i bought from dealer and tried to touch up spots so won't rust but can see spots and doesn't match. Feel like paid new car price for used car. Got ripped off. Salesman said once you inspect car it is your problem. Now read others have same problem. Last civic. Last honda. Bad dealer and salesman too. Once you buy car they no longer care. Note-auto body shop also saw imperfections and said that was not right for brand new car.
I was hit by a car turning left and my airbags did not deploy.the cars screen had an alert on it with the words "airbag failed".my vin is not in the recall however i am concerned.the aribags failed and i'm lucky that i was ok.the car is deemed a total loss due to the airbags failing.
There seems little to no clear coat on the car and scratches easily appears on paint of car.
To whom it may concern, i would like to report a safety issue with a vehicle. I am not the owner of the vehicle that i am reporting, but i was negatively affected by a fire that the vehicle caused. My vehicle was parked in a public parking garage on the 1st floor. Several hours after parking my car, a bmw x5 parked next to my vehicle. The owner of the bmw left their vehicle and turned the car off. However, while the owner was away from the car, the vehicle caught fire. The fire spread to 4 other vehicles including my vehicle ' the two vehicles on both sides of the car and two vehicles on the 2nd floor of the parking garage. My vehicle was destroyed as a result of this fire. The fire engulfed the passenger side of my vehicle and completely damaged the interior. With all the damages that my car sustained, it is not driveable nor is it repairable. My insurance has a better record of the complete damage to my vehicle. Upon, exploring this issue, i found that this specific bmw was listed as an affected vehicle for recall. Nhtsa issued several recalls for parts of the vehicle that could catch fire even when the vehicle was not in operation. For example: report receipt date: 10-30-2017nhtsa campaign: 17v683000manufacturer: bmw of north america, llcconsequence: an electrical short can cause the parts within the pcv valve to melt, increasing the risk of a fire, even when the vehicle is not in use. This is a major safety issue and bmw should be more attentive and responsible about this issue. As a result of this, i have lost my car and will not be able to recoup the retail value of the vehicle. This incredibly unfair and bmw should be doing more to remedy this issue and help those who have been negatively affected. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
November 11,2015 the dealer performed a recall and multipoint inspection on the car when i got home and checked the tire there was a nail in one of the tire had it removed and thats when i saw the problem. On november 12, 2015 the car was brought in for service of the concern, i told the service advisor to removed the tire to see the problem. The service advisor called me called me back about 3 to four times and assure me that everything was fine.3 days later i check if it was corrected and found same problem as i reported. I took two picture and sent it to service manager. They towed the car on november 17, 2015 and now they want to charge me to fix the problem because they said we hit a curb but we did not recall any incident that occur. It seems like we been driving a car with a defect from the start.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving 35 mph, there was a loud banging noise under the front side of the vehicle. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and different unknown warning messages were displayed on the information panel screen. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
Continuously getting check tire pressure indicator on. Do not know what to expect although the tires are inflated properly.
Tire pressure monitoring light comes on every couple of months. Checked tires and pressure everything is ok have to reset., then is ok for awhile this is very annoying have to pull over to check ever time.this can be unsafe at times.honda calls it tpms light.
I had turned into a shopping center near my home and the front passenger side tire blew out causing me to lose control of the car and hit the curb. I was going only about 10 to 15 mph as you can't go too fast into a turn with a manual car without stalling. I didn't hit anything and check the area where the blowout occurred and there was nothing in the road. The tire blowout also caused other damage to my car. I contacted the dealership since is was a brand new car that i just purchase approximately 3 months ago and the car has less than 3500 miles. I explained to them what happened and asked if they could look into their being an issue with the tire and they refused to look into the possibility of a tire defect. They tried to blame me for the tire blow out claiming that i hit something to cause the blowout. Now, i am finding out that other cars my make, model and year were recalled due to a faulty tire. I am frustrated and not sure how to get someone to look into the tire issue. I now have an unexpected expense for repairs on a new car. I do not feel that i should be responsible ofthe repairs or the impact to my insurance because this issue is being considered an "at fault" accident.
The tire pressure warning light came on july 10, 2014. All tires measured 33 psi. On july 16, six days later after the dealer reset the system the light came on again. All tires measured 33 psi and again the dealer reset the system. Honda america was contacted and indicated they would have a software fix by the end of july. On october 13, 2014 the tp light came on again and the tires measured 33 psi. The dealer will have another go at resetting the system on 10/14/2014 for the third time. The car now has 2596 miles on it. What is hondas problem?
The car was two weeks old when the tire pressure monitoring system warning light came on while traveling at highway speed.there was no problem with the tire pressure.the car has been in the service shop on 3 occasions for a total of six and one half days and the problem is not resolved. As of 6/4/14, honda indicates thatthe computer is not reading the tire pressure correctly and that they are not able to fix it.they say may have a solution sometime in july 2014.the warning light continues to come on at random intervals and various speeds, making the warning system useless.
The contact owned a 2014 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the tire pressure warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that flames emitted from the dashboard and upon exiting, the vehicle caught on fire. The contact sustained arm and shoulder injuries that required medical attention. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire and a fire report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000. The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at various at speeds, the tpms warning light illuminated with check tire pressure message displayed on the instrument panel. The tire pressures were checked and verified that the correct pressure for each tire was correct however, the warning message remained illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 221,000.
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving approximately 75 mph with bricks in the rear of the vehicle, the low tire pressure warning light illuminated. In addition, after the bricks were removed, while merging to the left at approximately 20 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the wheel. The low tire pressure warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the technician informed that the tire needed air. The tire was filled with air; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v109000 (tires). The failure mileage was 2,500.
The tpms under inflation warning lights came on and will not go off.there not a tire inflation problem.this is an ongoing sensor and software problem with civics.the car was sold to me without notifying me of these ongoing problems.the j.l. Freed service manager is unaware of the software upgrade now available, and the recall on the tires leaking from bad beads.
I started driving out of a parking lot and the car had a sudden unintended/uncontrolled acceleration while driving (or in motion). I was able to brake the car after approximately 1000 ft.
Tires since i purchased the car january 2015 has leaky tires.has always had to add air
When air conditioning is on and engine is under load (especially when accelerating from stop), i smell exhaust in the cabin.i have had the shop at the dealer where i purchased the car drive it twice and the mechanics claim they do not smell it.i know something is wrong and do not want my family breathing co! i am very frustrated!
Two tires have premature wear - i'm getting ready to turn in my lease andtodaysinspectionshown the right side of vehicle excessive wear.. This is a lease and itonly has26,901 miles on it.this is my 3rd leased vehicle , but the 1st honda lease. I always turned in a vehicle under miles and never, had been told that i owe them for new tires.i understand that honda has had problems in the past with premature tire ware. Pleaseadviseif ihave any recourse here withroush honda in medina, ohioor with honda financial services ?
My son had a car accident on 1/30/2016. A couple of cars in front of him had to make a complete stop because a squirrel was crossing the street. His velocity was aprox. Under 30 miles. When he hit the brakes, they did not respond inmediately and this resulted in a car crash with the car in front of him. The airbag also deployed. This happened on a street close to our home.
For the third time in less than a year, i realized that the fill plug or dipstick of the cvt transmission keeps popping out of the fluid hole spilling oil all over the transmission metal case. The issues seems to be common among other honda civic 2014 owners. I notice that the issues is more commonly after traveling on a highway to long distances. The issue also causes the transmission to run dry after spilling all the fluid from the transmission. I believe is not a normal issue, and honda should recall vehicles to fix the issue.
15v-574 recall date: september 4, 2015my car is at the dealership and i asked them to fix this recall and they said it doesn't exist in their database.

While driving, i heard a loud, gunshot like sound and glass started falling on me. My sunroof had just appeared to have been hit with something out of nowhere. I safely pulled over and began looking for anything that might appear to have hit it but only found the glass appeared to have been hit from the inside. The sunroof was completely shattered but luckily didn't fall completely apart.
The transmission is slipping and it trying to accelerate when i put it in drive i have to put the gas puddle to the floor and vibration on the seat it's a cvts transmission it was the pully that was fixed on the last recall i'm driving a loaner car is there any recall on the slipping or cvts in general thanks
When i press down on accelerator i.e. To merge or change lane from obstaclethere is no response it goes flat / reported to honda from first month of ownership, 04/21/2014
I started driving out of a parking lot and the car had a sudden unintended/uncontrolled acceleration while driving (or in motion). I was able to brake the car after approximately 1000 ft.
The contact owned a 2014 honda civic. The contact stated that another vehicle crashed into the front passenger side of her vehicle. The contact pulled over and placed the vehicle in park. After the vehicle was placed back into the drive position with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into a canal. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained neck and back injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200. The vin was unavailable.
I was parking my car on an upward incline and turning left into a parking space when i suddenlyhad no control over the car and it just kept lurching/moving forward.the car stopped only because the front wheels went up and over a concretecurb.,,,there was a link fence and then a deep embankment beyond i was able to turn the engine off and then back up over the curb to park the car i do not feel this car is safe to drive.it is presently at a honda dealer who say there is nothing wrong with the carthere is also a problem with the tire pressure warning coming on and when checked there is nothing wrong with the tire pressure but the warning light will not go off.
He came up behind us he tailgated us for a little while and then we go to pull over or move out of his way and he jumps in front of us stomps on his brakes brake checked us pulls out again after driving forward and then drives to the side and started going off on us say he doesn't do nothing he can do whatever he wants to it doesn't matter and jared and dangering a baby and a pregnant woman. I was required to slam on the breaks to avoid collision which also caused car behind to do the same. Call vehicles in motion. 104th and colorado.

Sun roof exploded while driving. Nothing hit the sun roof. It exploded on its own. Shattered glass fell into the car while i was driving.
Windshield wipers have a design flaw.the rubber blade floats back into a housing, in freezing conditions, ice builds up in the housing, the rubber part gets stuck in the housing and loses contact with the windshield. Can happen suddenly, without warning. This severely impairs visibility and creates a dangerous driving situation.lived in michigan my whole life, this is above and beyond any normal wiper problems in the winter. Went to honda service center, they declined to help.
Sunroof exploded with no outside source seen, glass shattered down into sunroof door
The contact owns a 2014 honda civic. While driving approximately 45 mph, the sun roof shattered on the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to richards honda (7791 florida blvd, baton rouge, la), but the diagnosis was undetermined. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000. The vin was not provided.
The tires are constantly losing air pressure. The tmps sensor goes off about once or twice a month and one of the tires will be about 5+ psi low and one or more of the others will be 1-2 psi low. It is never the same tire and every time it goes off i check all of them and re-inflate all to the correct psi. There was a recall on some 2014 honda civics for this issue (caused by an issue with the tire attaching to the wheel), but not all of them. I think that all 2014 honda civics need to be recalled for this issue and fixed. As mentioned in that recall announcement, the decreased tire pressure can cause increased incidents of accidents and is a safety issue.
Tpms warning light comes on repeatedly after two attempts by an independent tire dealer to fix. Honda dealer reprogrammed tpms software and the problem recurs after approximately two hundred miles of driving on the highway when the tire pressure has been verified to be normal.
Rotated my firestone affinity touring s4 tires at 11,500 miles and immediately noticed they were very noisy and an ever slight vibration in the steering wheel. Went to my local honda dealer and was notified that one of the belts had broken on one of the tires and was only a matter of time till it blew out.i am now fighting with the dealership to have the tires replaced as i do notfeel safe after reading the other claims listed here.shame on american honda motor co. For putting such junk tires on a vehicle.
My daughter driving from her place going to school, approximately 5 minutes back and forth every regular school days. All a sudden, blow-up the front right tires. The car is only 3 months old. Its good thing it not happen in the freeways. Dealer from merced, ca and fresno, ca indicated that the tires are not part of warranty and recalls. My concern are: how we know as consumers, the tires is part of recalls? why the dealers or manufactures are not responsible of the reimbursement nor the safety of they are selling? how we prevent this to happen to someone? we tried to replace the tire that got blown out, but went to 4 places including dealer, costco, walmart and firestone store, unfortunately they are out of stocks. We end up replacing all tires.
The "check tire pressure" light is on. I've gone to the mechanic twice to get it checked out and it is still there.
The battery is discharged without reason and the tires sensor show low pressure.
I was driving home and suddenly hear a whirring noise. I'm sure i didn't hit a bump or pothole at the time. The whirring kept going as i was trying to get closer to my home, then all of a sudden my car started wobbling from back and forth. I tried to make it as close to home as i could, but when i finally pulled over, i saw the tire completely exploded and was torn off the car, so i was basically riding on the rim. The tire tire off my fender liner as well.

Continuously getting check tire pressure indicator on. Do not know what to expect although the tires are inflated properly.
Beginning the day i bought the car, the check tire pressure light has come on at least 2-3 times a month.i have brought the car into a honda dealer for service each time to check tire pressure, which has 98% of the time been fine.they have done 2 computer software upgrades, the first of which seemed to help for a few months, but then it came back on; the 2nd time it was upgraded, the light came back on the next day.i recently left the car at the dealer for 8 hours and they found nothing wrong with it, but said it was a small discrepancy in the tread of the tires - one tire had 4/32 of a tread and the others had 5/32.however, since the light has been on since the day i bought the car and the tires were then new, this is obviously not the problem.in other words, they have no explanation and no fix for the problem.
Tire pressure monitoring light comes on every couple of months. Checked tires and pressure everything is ok have to reset., then is ok for awhile this is very annoying have to pull over to check ever time.this can be unsafe at times.honda calls it tpms light.
The low tire pressure has been on since i bought it last sat. 11/15bought it from hertz and didn't come on until about 3 days laterthere is a recall jd8 for this but it says no open recall on this car
Tpms dashboard warning message. After every six miles the screen has a tpms warning message. Tire pressure is correct. Alignment is correct. After resetting the tpms to recalibrate, the message turns on again.
The tire pressure warning comes oneven through the tire pressure is correct.when one tire had a blow out, it was totally shredded, and the car was driven about 1 mile to a safe location, the tire pressure warning did not come on.based on our experiences to date, the light seems to come on after about 50-100 miles of highway speed driving.
The front driver tire had been replaced twice in less than a year. The first time it exploded on my wife in the freeway. The second time it keeps going flat and we keep on putting air. The tires are new and we rotate it when due. The interesting part is that it only happens on the left driver side and when we rotate it, the problem is still on the same spot. This had been a problem and we got this car new. Honda states ai meed and alignment when i first brought it there for oil change. Car has 5000 miles and my wife drives it.
Tires since i purchased the car january 2015 has leaky tires.has always had to add air
Tires keep losing air pressure. Put air in the tires and light comes on again within a few days. Mileage registers lower when light is on as well. Mileage will go from 30 mpg to 20 mpg. Has been a chronic problem since purchasing the vehicle. Constantly losing air pressure.
