The "check airbag system" warning light keeps turning on and off intermittently.i can find many online complaints about 2013 civic owners having dealers replace system components only to have the problem reappear in a couple of months.i had our civic serviced at a honda dealer in spokane wa a couple of months ago, and had requested they diagnose the problem.i'm in az and my daughter took the car in to the dealer to replace headlight bulbs and inspect the airbag system.however, they did not do the inspection!!!their explanation was that online appointment notes don't appear at their shop...sheesh.so it never was looked at and haven't had a chance to take it back in.no idea if the airbags actually work right now, isn't that great?i feel the 2013 civics need to be included in the takata recall, but the vin does not reflect it being included at this time.not happy with such an early failure in the airbag system.
The passanger air bag light keeps coming on. Never had this problem until this year.
Was traveling 70 mph on state highway.was cutoff by large pick-up truck.swerved off the road hit a metal sign took it down.continued to drive until i hit a field the speed was too high for me to slam on the breaks.my airbag never deployed causing injury to my back.an airbag not deploying at that high of a speed concerns me.they repaired the car which i am really not comfortable driving.
My car airbag neet to be replaceso i need recall to replace itthanks
Got notice from auto airbag settlement for air bag defense defectiveissue . I further verified my honda civic 2013 and found eligible for settlement .
When driving or parked the "check passenger airbag system" alert will pop up on the display. It will turn on randomly and then turns back off. I have had honda run a diagnostic already and nothing was found, but it has continued to occur for two years
Check airbag system warning started coming up while driving
Takata recall
My wife and daughter were in an accident 10/24/15.the front of the honda civic struck the back of another car. The air bags did not deploy, the seat belt shield them in but no longer function.i took the car into honda dealership in lake worth, fl, a diagnostic was performed and the computer system was deemed to be not working. The force of the impact was strong enough that the driver and front seat passenger seat belts need to replaced. I purchased the car from this dealership in march 15' after seeing a carfax report saying that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle...updated 11/04/15 updated 1/4/2015
All of these issues have presented themselves while the car was on and in motion. Dear honda: recall the airbags asap!!#1 sign of issue @ 45 miles: passenger airbag light/sensor would blink on-off intermittently (all the time) only while driving. Back driver window works intermittently.#2 @ 15000 miles: steering wheel controls intermittently worked backwards (volume up would turn down & vice versa.) it wasn't frequently and always eventually started working correctly.#3 @ 40000 miles: airbag warning light came on stating "check airbags" it goes off every once in a while but is on 90% of the time. (not under warranty, the dealer wants $150 just to look. Having the car less 2yrs. And the airbag having issues since 45 miles and never being in an accident, i feel this should be something i should not have to pay for and can't afford anyway. Huge safety concern.#3 @ 60000 miles: my cruise control does not work. It won't even turn on.#4 @ 64000 miles: the horn does not work most of the time. All these issues and i've only had the car 2.5 yrs. The cruise and volume controls not working is annoying but the horn and airbag is a huge risky issues. I'm not the first to complain. Honda is aware there is issues with the airbags in these models and still has not issued a recall? shame on you honda! why wait? people are going to die because of the faulty airbags! how many before you make it right??!!
'takata recall' hi so recently i got in accident it was my fault in accident i hit car from behind iwas at 50mph speed while other car was stopped at red light ihit his car super hard my front of car was all bad have to put everything new and im surprised ihit car that hard and airbags didn't come outside. And second issue while my car is off it still keeps electronic function on inside system which keep draining my battery ovwr and over
Takata recall. I am the original owner. No airbag has been scheduled and honda is not answering questions! why?
"takata recall"i received a card in snail mail that there was a class action settlement on the takata airbags.this card advised me to go to the website to find out if my honda civic was part of this settlement.and whether i should go to the honda dealer to check if i needed my airbags repaired.when i went to this website it didn't tell me anything.it didn't tell me if my car was involved in the settlement or if i needed to have my airbags repaired.this website didn't even ask for my vin number.i would appreciate someone informing me if i need to take my 2013 honda civic to my dealer and have this repaired?
Takata recall check air bag system comes on intermittently
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle in the rear crashed into the contact's vehicle. As a result, the contact's vehicle crashed into the preceding vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Check airbag system warning light coming on and off intermittently, whether the vehicle is moving or not. Dealership tech unable to positively identify exact problem or component unless alarm stays on all the time.they could only provide best educated guess. They suspect cable reel is bad. Apparently, when the light is on, air bags apparently will not work. Unacceptable. Have previously owned 3 other civic 's, never had a single problem with the air bag system. Honda should have a better way to troubleshoot the system to definitively identify the specific defective component in the system.warning light came on constantly yesterday after approx. A month, but residence is 400 miles from place of employment so it will be a couple daysto get vehicle in to dealership to effect repairs. If the government is requiring these systems for safety, then as far as i am concerned they should never fail. Period. Any defect or problem with the system should be immediately corrected by the manufacturer at zero expense to the vehicle owner.i definitely do not feel as safe in the vehicle at the moment, and hope i don't get involved in an accident with this system not working. Just wanted to inform in case others may have experienced this same issue.
Takata recall
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that while making a left turn, another vehicle drove through a red light and crashed into the front of the contact's vehicle. The air bag warning light illuminated and the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to the chest, the back, abdomen and shoulder pains that required medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
I was driving straight down a city street in boca raton, fl at about 40 mph when i heard a bang and looked to see that the side curtain and seat airbags of the passenger side of my car had deployed.my 15 year old son was sitting in the passenger seat at the time of impact.i was able to pull over into a turn lane to check my son for injuries and assess what had happened.the was no known cause for the deployment.
Airbag warning light comes on every now and then, checked with honda many times but no recall. This issue started about 3 years ago when all the other hondas were getting air bag recall. Very concerning when passenger is in the car with me.
Takata recall - precautionary filing only
Purchased honda certified used civic in 9/2016, check airbag system light started coming on randomly around 2/2017 while vehicle was stationary and driving. Light would come on multiple times a day, or sometimes only once every few weeks.have taken the car to two different honda dealers (including the one it was purchased from) multiple times and dealer is unable to solve issue. Charging system sensor and cable reel have both been replaced, but light continues to randomly come on. Dealer is denying any responsibility and continues to use their 'computer flow chart' to try and diagnose with no success.this is a major safety issue and honda needs to issue recall and take responsibility. Multiple reports have been filed!
Vehicle rear-ended a stopped vehicle and significant property damage occurred to vehicle's front end. But driver, wearing seat belt, was thrown forward because air bag did not open.
Car was involved in a roll over accident which included driver front side impact. Car went of the road into a ditch, went over the other side of the ditch flipping back on its 4 wheels.impact on wheels was enough to knock wheels partial off the car with blown back window and cracked windshield. Neither the driver or passengerairbags were deployed. Side curtain airbags were deployed. Vehicle sustain total damage. Driver sustained life threatening injuries
I was at a stop and was rear-ended by a ford f350 going 50-55 mph.my car was pushed into the car in front of me.i was number 2 in a 7 car pile up.my air bag did not deploy and my face hit the steering wheel and the back of my head hit the head rest.
Takata recall. I have been the original owner of my 2013 civic coupe, and have loved it since. However, within the past month, check airbag system light has come on, first time during the middle of me driving going straight forward and stayed on until i turned the car off. It continued to come on while driving, and eventually started coming on when i first started the car, stationary. It does not come on every single time, but comes on very veryfrequently. This is a huge safety concern and they need to recall the problem. I called to see how much honda would charge to fix it, and they said $140 just to diagnose, and multiple reports of the parts costing up to $1300 to repair. This is ridiculous for someone to have to pay this amount for a car and a company that is supposed to be one of the most reliable and trusted brands on the market. The reason i chose a honda civic was because of the low rate of problems, and this is the hugest problem that can occur, a life threatening problem, very disappointed. There have been multiple reports of people getting in crashes and the airbag not going off, huge safety concern, and life threatening, even if the light does not come on. This should be a major red flag to anyone who owns a 2013 honda civic if the light has come on or not!! atleast 4 people have died from 2011 hyundai sonata and 2013 kia forte takata airbag problems reported earlier this week. This should be taken seriously immediately by honda and nhtsa and looked into asap. Please share this information if you have a similar problem, know someone with a honda civic, or has occurred to someone you know. By writing complaints on here, and contacting honda, we can help raise awareness to the nhtsa and honda to issue a recall, so no more people have to stress, worry, or be in a life threatening situation from theairbag system!!!!
Check airbag system warning started coming up while driving for no apparent reason
Takata recall
Once a month roughly while i'm driving my airbag light comes on the dash and reads "check airbag" i know this is wrong because nothing is wrong. If i pull over and shut my car off wait 30 secs then turn it back on the error message will turn off.
Also wasn't able to select the steering, the speed control brakes and the wheels/tires. The car has completely shut off while driving going 60 on the highway.since i've got this car it's been a huge pain and has been in the shop nearly the entire time i've had it. I'm currently making monthly payments on it and have had the car since 2017 and have put over $9,000 worth of work into it.. It finally has stopped working again i've been without a car for over a year because i can't continue to dump money into it. The abs light and check engine have been on since i've got it and the tire pressure light has always been on since i've got it the airbag light blinks while driving randomly and the electrical has went out while driving as well all the lights and radio would completely go out while driving during the day this happened thank god because had it happened at night i wouldn't of been able to see the road. The car has had the battery replaced many times and the tires constantly loose threading and feels like the car steering is shaking while driving. The child safety restraint lights blink as well randomly as well with the airbag lights. My sterling wheel has completely locked up while driving unable to move it at all. This car has cost me loads of money and put me in such a bad place financially i wish i never got it.
Have started getting intermittent 'check airbag system' message on dash display even when there is no one and nothing in the front passenger seat. Happens more often on warm days.
"check airbag system" light comes on and off sporadically for no reason.
"check air bag system" keeps coming on and then it turns off by itself, it disappears for a month or so then it comes back again, when it comes back, message shows up for a few days to a week then goes away again... Very nervous to drive the car. Not sure why there is no recall for this issue yet. If you are reading this and have the same issue please file a complaint so this issue gets addressed.
My 2013 honda civic has 43,000 miles and the starter is already breaking. I read that the 2013 accord was recalled for the starter but not the civic. According to the honda dealership the same starters were used in both cars, but the civic was not recalled. The passenger airbag is defective as well, but honda told me there is an extended warranty to replace them. However, they say i am responsible so replacing the starter.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. While driving approximately 35 mph, the driver side air bag light illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The dealer performed an oil change. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clock spring was incorrectly replaced by the previous owner. The technician replaced the clock spring, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was scheduled for another check up. The contact was not sure whether the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact also noticed some rusting on the sun roof, but did not notify the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor cable failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,500.
The airbagwarning light comes on intermittently when i am driving it
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle hydroplaned and crashed head on into another vehicle. The air bags partially deployed. The contact sustained an unknown injury that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot by an independent towing company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
Check airbag system light comes on and off randomly and almost daily. Honda is quoting $500-2000 to fix but my research has shown many complaints with lots spending a lot of money with no better results. Unacceptable for a car with just 68,000 miles. We as customers expect these safety issues to work as designed. Our life could depend on it. From my limited research this is a widespread, known issue with the 13 honda civic.
I have a 2013 honda civic. I bought is a certified pre-owned from broadway honda, greenville, sc. It went well for a year thought the one year warranty with zero problems. But once the warranty was over problems started to show up every other month. During the harsh winter of march one day the battery went dead at a walmart parking. I called my friend and jump started it and it was fine. Next day i went to the honda service and did a diagnostic. They said the battery is only 30%. In 4 years with 53k miles the battery went bad and i replaced it. And did a oil change and nys inspection. 15 days went well. Suddenly one day my air bag indicator started to blink with a message "check air bag system" on the screen. I took it to a friend's garage and he suspected it was a passenger side seat sensor that has an error. Very troubled i went to honda service again. They charged $130 just for scanning and diagnostics. They came back said the passenger seat airbag sensor went bad. I asked them how can something like a sensor go bad. Believe me i only use my car to go to office and errands. My wife sits at the back with my baby(infant). Very rarely the seat is used. I asked them how much would it cost and they said it will cost another $880 dollars to replace the sensor. I also want honda to know the problem as one can't pay so much to replace one sensor.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. While driving 60 mph, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The air bag indicator illuminated. The contact sustained neck and back injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
Air bag system check came on while driving 35mph and it turned off once car was parked and turned off. Has not come on since. Passenger airbag off light does not light up when there is no one in passenger seat. Honda dealer ran test. Passenger was fine but something is wrong with driver side (ironically). I asked if recall was on for my car, it is not. Apparently i am not the only one with this safety issue and i don't want to pay $111 for just a system diagnostics test then another $300+ to get a replacement on a safety issue that i didn't cause. Please help!! i do have records of the service on 6/4/2018
Check air bag light comes on randomly.sometimes when go over speed bump, sometimes just driving on smooth road, or making a turn. No real pattern discovered yet. Started sometime ago but came on maybe once every 3-4 months.now however it is occurring much more frequently almost daily. It has been rather hot and humid since occurrences started being more frequent not sure if that is coincidence or part of reason for the increase. Once car is turned off the light is gone till the next random occurrence. It has not turned on without the vehicle moving at this point.
My wife was drive at about 5mph..on a little street in sacramento... She was making a left turn...when an suv did see her single and alcam from behind and hit her going about 20mph...they both spin out of control... There were no injuries..but a witness states that they seen multiple accidents in the same intersection.. And that about almost 100% of the time its a roll over...due to the angle orlf the road and speed of the other vehicles...now after the hard impact she spun ofcontrol came to a stop and no air bags deployed.. Ever...not one single light came on...i'm just concerned because if the car would have rolled over and no air bags would have deployed... Then she might have got injured really bad. If this situation is resolved i'm going to replace the civic for something different.
Takata recall.the check airbag light is on.when i entered my vin number, it says my vehicle is not part of the recall.however, my check airbag light is on which makes me think there is a defect.
Airbag warning light comes on and off at random times while driving.this seems to be a widespread complaint with 2013 honda civics and while there is no recall yet, there should bein my opinion.thanks for your consideration,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*pm
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v661000 (air bags). The dealer (south tacoma honda, 7802 s tacoma way, tacoma, wa 98409, 253-472-2300) was contacted and confirmed that parts were not available. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
'takata recall' i received a letter by mail saying there is a class action settlement for the takata airbags. The 'check airbag system' warning light comes on randomly in my 2013 honda civic while stationary and in motion. Took to dealer and they can't figure out what is wrong or give me a straight answer. I went to the website provided, entered my vin number but it said my car was not effected. There have been many more complaints for the 2013 civic model for faulty airbags!! something is not right, this is a major safety issue and honda needs to take care of it!!
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. While driving 65 mph, the passenger air bag deployed independently without warning or impact. Mistlin honda in modesto, california was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The contact was advised to call his insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.
The 'check airbag' light comes on all the time when i seat or while driving.when i bought the car the paint was bubbly and had rust spots.
I purchased the vehicle in september 2015.about a month after i purchased the vehicle the service air bag warning light came on.the light would generally go off after i turned it off and turned back on.i brought the problem to honda's attention and they said that it was throwing the code due to low voltage????fast forward to 12 months later and the light goes on and off about 10+ times per day.seems to me that if the airbag system is malfunctioning that there should certainly be a recall.
Few moths back airbag light came one had it checked they thought a pinched wire in the steering wheel was the problem 400 later said it was fixed.then recently exactly 3 months later it's happening again checked it again at honda after 4 hours they finally found out was wrong its thr driverside airbag inflatar.did a claim but was refused due to the fact apparently my 2013 isn't under recall and due to the fact my 2013 has been on road for a whopping 8 years its just plain wear and tear on the vehicle the claim adjuster compared it to changing the oil in my car.it's a safety issue and airbags and inflators are usually considered a lifetime guarentee for cars. So i had to shed 1400 for the inflator . I'm scared to death to drive my car anywhere till it's fixed. What bugs me is the fact it's not with the recall eventhough it's the same issue. The claims person basically confirmed if i drove it more i have a higher chance of it exploding.
Check air bag system light came on randomly. Stayed on for majority of time. Dealership ran diagnostics and found code b0001-13 replace cable reel. Notes in repair showed "increased tension in reel" reel was replaced car was returned without working horn or controls on steering wheel working. Latter may be technician fault.
Airbag warning turns on/off intermittently. Warning comes on randomly, sometimes a few seconds after start, other times hours, other times it remains off. If vehicle is turned off and restarted, warning goes away. Warning can remain off for days and re-ignite for no reason. Warning turns on with or without passenger. When tested, no codes come back. Vehicle at 61,316 miles.
Tacatarecalli purchased the 1st and probably only new car that i will ever own.i went with honda because i thought that they would be very reliable. Imagine my dismay when i.get notice re:auto air bag malfunction.i am now scared to transport my grandson. I am scared for my own safety. Please consider the fact that i am now stuck with my defective auto, for the rest of my life. No comfort in taking my family anywhere.
Takata recall possibility? my airbag sensor has been on for months. There has been no recall, yet i've read tons of the same complaint on the same vehicle. It says "check airbag system" immediately after starting the car. I don't know how there's not been a recall yet when the airbag thing is a serious issue and there are a lot of these complaints out there. Please advise.
My entire dashboard lit up, i️ can't drive the car, because the emergency brake is locked a feel a small tug on the car.
Takata recall
When the car is turned on, a sign of "check airbag" shows up.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that a warning indicator randomly kept flashing to check the air bag system. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least three times, but they were unable to provide a solution. The contact felt as if they misdiagnosed providing a solution and required that brake repairs be completed before servicing the air bag system. The first repair from the dealer indicated that the abs indicator was illuminated, but the contact stated that it was the air bag warning indicator. The dealer cleaned the rear brakes and adjusted the rear brakes during the first repair. During the second repair, the dealer replaced and resurfaced the front brake pads. The brake fluid exchange was serviced as well. Two days after the repairs, the service air bags indicator illuminated again. The dealer was notified of the failure a third time and indicated that they would follow up, but the contact received no response. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was not available.
The contact owned a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph a vehicle suddenly merged into his lane, which caused the contact to merge into another lane and the contact crashed into the rear of a gmc sierra. The air bags did not deploy. The contact did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to aaa location where it was deemed a total loss and destroyed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer wasnot notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,000.
Once a month roughly while i'm driving my airbag light comes on the dash and reads "check airbag" i know this is wrong because nothing is wrong. If i pull over and shut my car off wait 30 secs then turn it back on the error message will turn off.
Takata recall. My airbag inflator has gone out. I had seen a sensor go off about it and i had gotten a notice from you about a recall. I took it to the shop and they gave me a quote of $1022.55. The vehicle was in motion when the sensor went off.
Flashing air bag light with no known issue(s).
Takata recallunknown
My car started showing airbag warning stating "check air bag system". The car dealership is charging just to get the error code for this message.
The air bag indicator light goes on intermittently. Just started and very concerning. Based on review of nhtsa site this has been reported many times. Should be investigated for recall before someone is seriously injured.
I am unsure if this is part of the takata recall, however using my vehicle's horn for the first time today, while in motion, since purchasing less than 30 days ago, my "check airbag system" sensor light came on along with the display message. I parked and turned the car off for about 10 mins. Warning message was gone but as i proceeded to drive, the light and message returned. Unfortunately, i bought the car at a third party dealer not honda and they are not assuming any responsibility or at least try to help fix my issue.this is such a safety hazard, especially in such automobile.
The vsa stay on and my power steer turn on and off sometimes it's hard to turn i hard to pull over the freewayto shut the car off and then on in order to retain my power steering, my traction control doesn't work wich am guessing it's related with the vsa and my airbag light turns on my dash then turns off am a little terrified i might loose complete control off my car and my airbag will go off or not even pop off incase of an accident or i might cause an accident if i keep loosening my power steering (electronical power steering)
The airbag srs warning light comes on intermittently when i am driving it and i cannot pinpoint when/why. This happened a year ago and the dealership said it was the cable reel in the steering wheel which was replaced. 10 months later (and less than 1000 miles driven) and the airbag srs warning light is continuing to come on intermittently (driving city streets and highway - sometimes it comes on after 15 minutes of driving, sometimes it doesn't come on for for multiple times of driving). I brought it to the dealership and they said they could not duplicate the error and that it could be airbag assembly or clock spring. There are numerous complaints online about intermittent airbag light and honda should be addressing this if it's a manufacturing issue.i do not feel safe driving nor comfortable paying $1200 to replace driver airbag assembly when it's not even clear if there's an issue. Honda should be researching this issue and addressing it, particularly with the number of similar complaints. It is unsafe.
My 2013 honda civic consistently has the "check air bag system" indicator comes on 75% to 80% of the time when i begin to drive it. It's unknown why this occurs? it occurs while driving in the city or on the highways.makes no difference. I've read many complaints about this on the internet from fellow civic owners.this occurs only on the model year 2013.my concern is if i would be in an accident, i've been told if the warning light is on, the air bag system will not deploy and possibly could cause serious bodilyinjuries.this is not acceptable to have such a quality automobile company like honda not to investigate and have this fixed. My car looks and drives like brand new with only 30k miles on it. I've check my vin number for recalls but there are none. I went to a dealership and they said they could run a diagnostic check for $139.00 but said that wouldn't guarantee a fix solution. And internet owners have paid for this to no avail for a fix solution.then more diagnostic checks would be required and who knows at what expense? i'm asking to please look in to this situation for myself and my families well being and safety.thank you for your time.
Airbag system failure - a "check airbag system" warning alert appeared on the dashboard of my 2013 honda civic. I checked for recalls and finally took my car into my honda dealer.the service advisor informed me that a "driver side door airbag sensor failed" and told me it can be fixed for $310.00 plus labor!!!
Takata recall!!?!airbag indicator issues starting at 45 mi. Check airbag warning is now on always. It's taken over my lcd display screen completely making it useless i.e. Maintenance info, mileage, handsfree equip. Options. Everything (aside from back up camera, still functioning while in reverse) airbag warning light indicator has disable all components on steering wheel i.e. Horn, cruise control, volume ect..still no recall? i'm scared for my families safety! do something honda. Someone needs to make honda address these issues asap!
Faulty takata airbags
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. Cardinal honda located at 531 ct-12, groton, ct 06340, was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed to have the vehicle taken to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted nor informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
"takata recall" i received a card inmail sayingthat there was a class action settlement on the takata airbags. This card advised me to go to the website to find out if my honda civic was part of this settlement. And whether i should go to the honda dealer to check if i needed my airbags repaired. When i went to this website it didn't tell me anything. It didn't tell me if my car was involved in the settlement or if i needed to have my airbags repaired. This website didn't even ask for my vin number. I would appreciate someone informing me if i need to fix it o what i need to do. I took my 2013 honda civic to my dealer and he said is not necessary to check it or repair it. I really apreciate all your help in this safety issue. Thanks
While car is in motion check air bag sensor will go off.sensor will stay on until ignition is turned off and car is in park.the sensor will periodically turn on and off over the last 8months.when contacting honda dealer about the check airbag sensor they stated it not related to the recall. I disagree if my sensor are reading check airbags something must be going on.
Airbag warning indicator has been coming on intermittently for the last 3 weeks and now is on all the time. Started as passenger airbag warning then went to just airbag warning indicator.
The airbag check airbag system warning comes on periodically i had it repaired at a honda dealer and three weeks later it came back on but went away. I am concerned because it cost me a lot of money to repair this the honda dealer said it had nothing to do with airbags or recalls. But honestly this has everything in the world to do with the srs system and should be something covered by the manufacturer.
The car would not start after a short 12 mile trip .after the car battery was jumpedi went straight to the dealer and the battery was checked and according to them they could not find anything wrong.the battery test findas did all the electrical components.that incident was my first on ---12/09/2017------ today 2/8/2018 was the second incident the same thing happened and again it tested find after a jump.what is going on here i can not count this car as reliable if it is going to leave me stranded! the vehicle was parked in the university parking lot and the engine was off.but when i got ready to go nothing, no start.we had to call the campus police for help with a boost.
All 9th generation civics are equiped with stock under powered horns. Saftey issue, since other cars won't hear it to avoid a collision. Some dealers offer a horn upgrade, but the labor would be costly due to the fact that the bumper cover has to be removed and re installed.
The car would cut out while in motion during a turn. (it looks like i'm stalling). Other times i will be driving straight and feel the care losing power the more i pushed on the gas. Once i let my foot off it would have power to go again. This happens more often while on city streets then highway speeds.in march, when i went to start car the car dashboard went mad flashing and the car wouldn't start. I was able to jump start the car. I changed the battery and it continues to stall. I notice that the newer vehicles are doing the same thing and wonder if its the same issue that needs addressing.
Started vehicle and no radio station appear on led could not change channels or volume.after about 20 minutes channel appeared and i could change station and volume now. This has occurred 3 times within the last year.also the volume control knob flickers most of the time
Ima warning light came on and lost power.slowed almost to a stop while on highway.i was able to make it to dealerhip with flashing hazzard lights going 20 mph. Honda dealership ran diagnostic and says code poae1.troublehot code and telling me not ima battery problem that woudl be covered under warranyt, but motherboard problem which is not covered under warranty.motherboard part is backordered and may take months. I asked for documentation that it is not a covered under electrical warranty because ima and they say no. Says they will give me paperwork after if is fixed. $2000
I was driving normal on a busy street (with gas in my tank) and suddenly my car airbag lights appeared on the screen and kept flashing. Then all of a sudden my abs emergency break lights showed up on the screen and everything in my car started flashing and automatically took over. The car wouldn't break even when i was pressing on the break, it kept moving even when the electrical system took over! my car shut down in the middle of the busy street by itself. The emergerncy break lights also didnt turned off! it was a very scary moment because, i was able to do anything with the car locked and shut off. Right now i had to get aaa to tow it to a mechanic because, nothing is turning on. Please let me know if this is an manufacturing issue or not?!
This is my second 2013 civic within a year. My first one had an issue with the imid screen and radio. Basically, this becomes an electrical issue that affects the rest of the vehicle. I also learned that the hard reset that was done to the vehicle could've did more harm than good. The imid would freeze, lag, blackout, the backup camera would stop working occasionally, my phone wouldn't pair occasionally, i couldn't use any of the steering wheel controls or the buttons on the radio sometimes either. Eventually, my engine shut off while driving on the highway, my door locks would either lock really hard, not lock as programmed by the imid, or lock and unlock by themselves. I thought the dealer was going to do something about the situation and they treated the car as a trade after the car had been to the dealer 8 times for tests, the hard reset, and three fixes the corporation and dealer completely avoided me towards the end. I went ahead and got another 2013 civic and 2 days later, ihad an issue with the rear-window defroster. After i had the car about a month, i was using the handsfree link, when i noticed my call info was not at the top of the screen when you have the gas mileage and range on the screen. The following month, i had an issue with the blower in the car fading in and out as i was parking. Then another 2 months go by, the issues with the radio backlighting flickering and the imid start to occur again with this car. So far, i've had to wait for my car to start because it wouldn't start right away. Occasionally, i have to start it twice, sometimes i can use the radio or the handsfree link just like with the last vehicle. I had an issue with the trunk, door locks, and the security acknowledgement system in this car as well. I have a weird noise while driving coming from the front and my doors aren't lined up on the body of the vehicle.
I was driving and my power steering locked up and would not let me use the steering wheel. I turned off the car and the light went off and the power steering returned for a couple minutes only to turn off and not allow the steering wheel to work any longer
Went out to start car, warning light for airbags went on.took to dealership and was told wiring harness was eaten through by rodents.then was told there is soy in the harness and this is a common problem.why is this not a recall?cost $1400 to fix.
My2013 honda civic exlthe accelerator failed to respond to acceleration .the vehicle erroneously decelerated while the accelerator pedal wasdepressed. The vehiclewas taken to the dealer . The car was checked out they couldn t find the fault. The failure started @ 300 miles.and beendoing this 12 times the mileage is now 7,500 miles,i wanted the dealer and honda know that they have a problem . The last time i was turning left at a traffic light and almost was hit.
I have noticed that my honda civic sometimes feels as if you were driving standard. You press on the gas peddal and it hesistates to go and then goes immediately which makes it feel as if you are shifting gears. (used to drive standard). It does this all the time. I noticed that it does it more often when the econ button is on and less when the econ button is off but it does do it all the time.it does this while driving on regular streets and on highways. The car shakes a lot when the ac is on. You turn the ac off and it stops shaking.the cars engine is full of rust thanks to honda for using cheap parts to make this car. I have searched this and there are several hondas with the same issue of several engine parts being rusted.
While driving on the freeway at 72 miles an hour my car all of a sudden lost power. The dash went completely black and my engine shut off. My steering was extremely stiff with limited range of movement, i feelthe power steering shut down. I was able to drift into the open lane next to me and brake to a stop on the shoulder of the road. I attempted to restart my car and it started on the first attempt. Continued to drive to my destination with no further trouble.i took it to the closest dealership a few hours later, they were unable to find any reason for the car shutting off while i was traveling down the freeway. They checked thecars computer and found no codes stored. They test drove were unable to duplicate the problem i had. They checked the battery and battery cables he noted they checked "ok". The tech noted he placed the "board on snapshot to stall". Noting in case this problemoccurs again they will have data to aid in diagnosis. They performed a software update hoping it helps to fix the problem.im not very comfortable driving my car now! very frightening experience!! i wouldhope honda can find a resolution to this problem before someone's loved one is injured or injures another in an accident due to the danger of the situation!
Tpms indicator light on. Tires inflated at the proper pressure. I have taken this vehicle in to the dealer multiple times for the low tire pressure signal continually coming on even after new tires installed. There is something wrong with the sensor or indicator signal. Nhtsa should not allow it.
Rodents ate through wiring between alternator and battery.determined that honda changed to soy based material to coat wiring on all 2012-2015 civic models.the soy based formula becomes heated and attracts the rodents when parked.the problem is pervasive and dangerous since electrical wiring and harnesses to all major engine components are affected.
The air conditioner motor and resistor in my car have been replaced 5 times now.every four months, the air conditioner makes sounds, fluctuates in power, and then finally stops working altogther. The lights on the dash still work, but the air stops blowing. Once motor and resistor are replaced, it works fine again - but only for a few months. All new parts have been ordered directly through honda.the defroster and heat will not work either when this part goes bad, which is dangerous if driving in the rain or in the cold.
It was fine when i parked it in the garage the night before but the next morning none of the following were working and the dealer has no idea what's wrong (they want to try replacing whole console for $700 and if/when that doesn't work try replacing something else for $$$):- dash (and gear shift, etc.) doesn't light up when driving at night- windshield defoggers- speedometer (reads "0" whether in motion or stopped)- odometer- warning indicators (overheat, tire pressure, etc. Except "brake" which still works, and the little gas icon on the left continuously blinks whether full tank or not)- gas gauge- gas mileage- tachometer (a physical meter)- air conditioner- oil life left- cruise control- "econ" mode button doesn't work- not sure if air bags work - i may find out someday- radio works/displays finei am not sure of the exact date when this happened, but it was sometime in august 2017.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that while starting the ignition, the instrument panel cluster failed to illuminate. The malfunction recurred whenever the contact was driving at various speeds. The failure recurred in extremely hot or frigid weather. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to provide a remedy to perform a repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 35. The vin was unavailable.
'takata recall' hi so recently i got in accident it was my fault in accident i hit car from behind iwas at 50mph speed while other car was stopped at red light ihit his car super hard my front of car was all bad have to put everything new and im surprised ihit car that hard and airbags didn't come outside. And second issue while my car is off it still keeps electronic function on inside system which keep draining my battery ovwr and over
The audio unit back light flickers. Upper display is blank at startup.vol/selector knob or hard keys do not work. Multiple sources appear on the informatio
My wife came out to use the car and suddenly the power steering was outshe said that she couldn't drive it, steering was so heavy to turn etc.i was so glad it happened in our driveway and not in the streets or freewaywe're i think something bad would have happened to my wife and the car.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that the volume of the horn was abnormally low. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, who stated that the factory horn was performing as designed. The dealer recommended that the contact try purchasing an aftermarket horn from an auto parts retailer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 5.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that after inserting the key into the ignition switch, the ignition switch would not turn, and the engine could not be started. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the ignition switch was faulty and needed to be replaced. The ignition switch was replaced, and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.

I was driving 5 minutes away from my home around a 30 mile an hour gradual bend. I suddenly had no power steering losing control momentarily ,i slowed down immediately trying to regain control of the vehicle while just missing going into the woods and almost creating an accident behind me. The check power steering assemblylights were flashing on the information board .this is extremely dangerous and unacceptable .my wife and daughter drive the car often and i'm not too sure the outcome would have been as good as mine and this truly scares me.this is my 6th honda ,i purchase all my car is new, and i've never have a problem like this before!
My abs, vsa and power steering lights all came on at the same time.honda dealer told me it costs $1,600 to 'replace' abs control module which is obscene as this is clearly a safety issue, and he didn't even mention a fix for vsa or power steering. I tested a hard brake and abs failed.what if my power steering fails during a turn and i hit someone?honda service tech said scans could not indicate a fix.google / you tube search shows this is a chronic problem with honda civic and acords.a simple fuse may need to be replaced.i believe honda needs to recall this defective fuse and replace them for vehicle owners free of charge before someone has an accident.
For the second time in as many months, i have been driving my car when suddenly the vsa warming light has come on, followed by the transmission fluid warning light. The first time this occurred, i pulled into the parking lot of my apartment complex and checked the owners manual for my civic for any information. It suggested that i wait several minutes and the restart the car. I waited for 10 minutes and restarted my car. Both lights had gone out and i was able to get to the local carmax dealer, where i'd purchased this car. The service center could not look at my car then, but the technician set an appointment for me for the next monday and reassured me that i would "probably" be fine until then. When that day came i was told that the car would need to be looked at by an authorized honda dealer, autonation honda, but that carmax would cover the cost because the car was still under their limited warranty. Days later, i took the car to autonation and they updated the vehicle's software for the vsa.today, october 22, 2017, i was driving to visit family when the vsa light came on again, immediately followed by the transmission fluid warning light. Once again, i pulled over as soon as possible and turned off the car for 10 minutes. During that time i called and left messages for both my carmax and autonation contacts and told them what had happened. When i started the car again, both lights were off.i have been looking to see if there have been others having the same problem and have found many people who share the same problem. Honda appears to have ignored this issue in later model cars and i feel this is severely dangerous!
Abs, traction control light, & power steering lights illuminated at the same time and can not be reset. The vehicle's traction control and abs systems are not engaged when these lights are present, thus causing a safety hazard. These lights first appeared while backing out of driveway on dry/sunny day. These lights have remained on since, and will not go off even after ecu reset.
My entire dashboard lit up, i️ can't drive the car, because the emergency brake is locked a feel a small tug on the car.
Dealer service center identified an oil leak coming from the timing chain tensioner cover. Dealer indicated, "not enough hondabond removed timing tensioner cover plate, cleaned area, resealed cover with hondabond, and reinstalled. Rechecked after oil change and found no leaks at this time".
Hard gear shifter, difficult to put car from park to drive.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. While driving various speeds over 40 mph, the vehicle suddenly switched to limp mode and decelerated to less than 15 mph. The failure occurred multiple times while driving on the highway. The vehicle was taken to penske honda (4140 e. 96th st, indianapolis, in). The dealer replaced four engine cylinder heads, spark plugs, and the ckr unit; however, the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 130,000.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact noticed oil leaking underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the oil seal was missing and needed to be replaced. It was also diagnosed that the oil was leaking from between the engine block and the timing belt. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that while the key was in the on position, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was able to start after another attempt and the vehicle drove forward independently. In addition, the brakes failed to respond and the steering wheel locked warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle drove over the sidewalk and crashed into a building. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,447.
This letter is to inform you about a severe malfunction that caused an accident.i was traumatized by a sudden unintended acceleration with my 2013 honda civic. Luckily no one got hurt in this event, but i?m hoping that this fact will not reduce the attention from this severe malfunction.following is a brief summary of the event that happened on may 10, 2014 at 6:30pm:i was driving slowly, under 5 miles per hour, approaching a parking near the sideways.there was one car already parked, and i was going to park behind it.i was about to complete my parking, and my leg was gently applying the brakes (i was almost at a complete halt).suddenly, the car made a very loud noise as if someone pressed on the gas all the way (it was an awful noise), and then it shot itself forward at a crazy speed.as the car drove itself into the parked car in front, i pulled the handbrake and pressed harder on the breaks in the split second that i had to realize something is wrong. Since i was at a very low speed, the impact didn't deploy the airbags. The parked car in front of me stopped the car from going forward uncontrollably.all of this happened in a matter of seconds. At this point the cars engine decreased the rpm back to normal, and the car stopped pushing itself forward, though at that point i already deployed the hand brake.
Put the car into reverse, backed up, put the car into drive, applied pressure to the gas peddle, then car then jerked, shook, had to pull over to let car rest, drove slow back home.since then around 3000 rpm the car will hesitate.replaced spark plugs, put in sea foam engine cleaning solution diagnostic computer does not show anything wrong.
I have had several issues with the transmission of my 2013 honda civic si. The first issue was the transmission broke, the dealer repaired it, busted out my windshield and dented up the fenders, it took them a year to fix every thing.the second time the transmission broke it is the shift cable.they have now sent a honda corporate investigator to determine if some how i created the damage.the car has only 23000 miles on it and i baby this thing.i am concerned if the cable has snapped while driving it a highway speeds, would i be here to complain about it now.i may have to get an attorney because this vehicle is technically a lemon.i am scared to drive it anymore, and i really want to get a better car.
No power. No acceleration.i am fortunate the car behind me was cautious enough to slow down. I had no power, no get-up, no nothing and i was flooring it to get out of a potential accident. The vehicle has made odd noises since the beginning.brakes make an odd noise.there is a crackling, tinkling, very odd noise that comes from underneath the car since the beginning of ownership and i guess that's how the car is made (?).i do not know if a car is supposed to act like this, due to have owning manual transmissions the majority of my driving career.no umph on this brand-new car has led me to send in this complaint in case others are experiencing similarities.odd noise with brakes, odd, very odd noise that tinkers under the car and no acceleration.i use the gasoline outlined/ preferred by the honda civic owner's manual.
Seal on the engine block is leaking oil!
Was driving on the highway at 55-60 mph.wanted to press "hazard warning button" and by accident pressed the "engine start/stop button".because "hazard warning lights" did not start flashing i automatically pressed the "engine start/stop button" second time - the engine turned off. Since engine was off brakes stopped working and power steering stopped working as well. There is no way to turn engine on while car was moving - as you can do it only when the transmission on "p" (parking)- and you cannot switch transmission into "p" (mode) when car is moving at 60 mpg. By luck i was able to pull car over without accident.i understand that maybe i was stupid and that is my mistake that by accident i pressed a wrong button, however, there should be no way the engine can go off while car is moving under any conditions and any drivers actions because it directly may leads to a crash which could be avoid only by a luck.i consider it is as extremely serious safety issue which should be immediately investigated and fixed.
Sometimes when i slow down to make a left or right turn, i press the accelerator and nothing happens. This has been happening since i purchased the car.it does not happen every time, but when it does you feel helpless until you are able to accelerate again (within a second or two). I have learned to compensate , but this could cause a major accident.
Vehicle hesitates under acceleration. Sometimes almost stalling. I feel this is not safe for my son at times. Merging etc.i called honda service and they said they have had this issue come up with other people. They said it had to do with the econ mode. I drove the car with it off and still does it at times. Very concerned. I am taking it in to find out what is going on. Not good!
Attention to all who read & complain about our 2013 honda civic.go to your internet & search drive by wire.then you will know why our car drives so awful and yes, accident prone.our vehicles - news flash - are manufactured with the new (well, around 2003-ish) (not real sure now) drive by wire.my old 1997 honda civic would drive this 2013 in the ground.it's new technology.no more drive by throttle.if you want your power, either get a manual transmission or get an old car.peace to all who read. (( i knew something was weird with the car immediately after driving it for 13 miles - but i couldn't figure it out till i did research and boy, was i enlightened.so, loss of power - which i did file a formal complaint because i thought something was seriously wrong with the vehicle, but then i found out - oh, nice, new technology.you can also find out the information on any blog for any honda owner - who is a serious mechanic ))drive by wire - known as dbw orour old way of cars - drive by throttle - or dbt.
Severe motion sickness when driving on the interstate; thought it was just a "small car" problem but it was persistent all the way to chicago and back to san francisco.basically, a roller coaster ride at interstate speeds and suspect that it is a faulty suspension design.engine (would stall and then quickly accelerate problem) and driver wiped out after about eight thousand miles.the seat design is extremely poor and causes pinched nerves for passenger and driver.maybe the car is just good for local short drives and the younger crowd...was supposed to get my old, trade-in vehicle back but honda service ran off with the car and i sold it on ebay/paypal but got entangled in more fraud (various loan frauds by honda and then the ebay buyer ran a scam and never paid for the car according to paypal).so, then the car got stolen by the scam loan company associated with honda...a total bad experience as well as defective car design.
I was making a left hand u-turn in the city on main street when in the middle of my turn my dash lights turned off my brakes wouldn't work and i lost power steering and acceleration. It felt like the car turned off. Lucky there was nobody coming the other way because i was stopped in the middle of the road and could not accelerate. Once i was at a complete stop in the middle of oncoming traffic the dash lights turned back on and i was able to accelerate. However when i was trying to park to check the car, any slight movement of the steering wheel would make my headlights almost turn off because it was like it was drawing a lot of extra power for some reason to turn the steering wheel. I then parked for about 20 minutes and turned the car back on with no problem. I went to a parking lot to see if i could re-create what happened but i could not. I went home and read a bunch of complaints with this same problem with nobody having a solution. So i have not taken my car to the dealership because i feel like i will get the same answer. Which is we don't see anything wrong and we cannot re-create the situation.
While my wife was driving down route 55 in south jersey at highway speed (approx. 55 mph), the vehicle started to shake uncontrollably and engine power was diminished. Was able to slowly get off nearby exit and drive to parking lot. Vehicle almost did not make it up exit ramp. Towed to dealership. Diagnosis was #2 cylinder had failed. Car only had just over 63,000 miles on it. Not covered under warranty but honda eventually covered 50% ($2,545.30). Car was garaged kept and all scheduled maintenance done. I wanted to report this because i think it is a safety issue since it happened without warning and the car could not keep up with dangerous highway traffic. Also, i would like it on record in case there are other reports of similar failures which may indicate a manufacturing defect, especially since it occurred on a well-maintained, garage kept car at only 63,000 miles. I have uploaded a copy of the repair order indicating what components failed and were replaced.
On thursday our ac started blowing hot air. I contacted a honda service rep and they made an appointment for the upcoming monday. On monday we waited 2 hours so they could check the car and so they could just tell us that there is a leak and they are not able to find it. They filled our car with free-on and added a dye and asked up to come back in 2 weeks, they said out a/c should begin cooling...it did for 3 hours. I made an appointment for thursday of the same week. The reps said i need my condenser replaced, that road debris damaged the condenser. I do not recall going over anything or hitting anything. How can a condenser be damaged on a new car. They gave me an estimate for $535. I began to read into it online and i am not alone. There are many complaints yet honda has not made anything better.
Being male and capable of driving standard shift, i drive 2 footed. This vehicle is an automatic transmission with drive by wire feature. Left on brake, right on accelerator. When accelerating from a stop or a slow to make a left turn, the vehicle does not move as expected, it seems to delay competing the turn, and even does it when trying to pass a vehicle on the fwy. It is an intermittent occurrence. I have taken it back to the dealer and they say they can not find any problem. I would like to leave it with them for one week and have the mechanic drive it for one week to and from work.but i do not want to pay for a rental during the time.i will do so if there is no trouble found by the region service manager.but otherwise i would like the dealership to pick up the rental.i now have had it for about 16 months and have had to adjust my driving habits to compensate for the delay in order to avoid a crash.other wise i have had good service from the dealership. I now have approximately 10, 300 miles on the vehicle.thank you.
We bought the car new and over the last 6 months you cannot see the road varywell at night head lights are not bright enough, also the tires that came on the car are horrible and cheap they did not last barley 1 year and are not rated for miles. The car is not safe on the road tires will hydro plane and slip all over the road with snow this should be a safety item and honda said it is our problem not hondas @ 1-800 999-1009 firestone has been more cooperative than honda i hope no one gets hurt buy the tires on honda civic .[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My hazards lights cut out 10/10/15 when i put the car in reverse and the hazard lights wouldn't come back on and later my car would not start. Aaa said the battery, altranator, & starter were fine and that something was draining the battery. I tried starting my car today 10/11/15 and it would not start. Something electrical is draining my battery.
Interior light's on the whole dash board flash while in motion driving, stopped at stop sign's or red light, stopped to make a turn and paint around windshield is peeling
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated while coming to a stop, the brake pedal was depressed and a slight vibration occurred. The failure recurred only when driving at low speeds or coming to a stop. The dealer was able to duplicate the problem, however they were unable to remedy the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 125.updated 7/9/14the consumer stated when the vehicle came to a stop a loud sloshing , bumping sound could be heard emitting from the gas tank. This occurred going forward and in reverse, and occurs when the tank is half full to full. The dealer advised that the sound is normal. Updated 07/14/2014
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that he was able to hear a thumping sound in the gasoline tank. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician was unable to determine the cause of failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100. The current mileage was 10,800.
Car wouldn't start upon inspection fuel line was split down the middle. Noticeable fuel leakage & you can smell the rubber hose burning.
There is a leak from the gas tank on the 2013 honda civic.~ 33000 miles are on the honda civic.many different sources of ignition could cause a fire, or potentially an explosion.the vehicle was stationary when i determined there was a leak.car was towed back to dealer: curry honda, chamblee, ga 30341
Driving south through salt lake city freeway, the cab filled with noxious raw gas fumes, no warning lamps on the dash.pulled off the freeway and inspected engine, trunk, interior and under the car for a gas leak and found nothing.continued on our way and returned to california, heading for 29 palms via kelso, calif. When we got fumes again only heavier, combined with tighten fuel cap warning screen on dash.again inspected car, reinstalled fuel cap several times. No leaks detected, aired out car and got the same condition every time we gained significant altitude.the next day we replaced the fuel cap and so far no flammable fumes.thank god neither of us smoke.
You can hear fuel sloshing around in fuel tank when tank is full when stopping, going from a stop, going up or down a drivewayvery annoying.has been happening since the car was brand new
Vehicle hesitates under acceleration. Not good!
Wthile driving and slowing to make a left turn at a flashing yellow light intersection and being an automatic transmission, i drive two footed, for quicker response time. Upon stepping on accelerator the vehicle hesitates for 3-4 seconds before picking up speed.when taken to the dealer, i am told it is a 2 footed driver issue and nothing they can be done. I have left it 24 hours and been told, 'no problem found'.i have had to change my habits to allow for it.it is intermittent, and if it is a 2 footed issue, why intermittent?i have not have not changed to 1 foot driving? should be always. I am highly considering getting a different brand vehicle. I do not feel safe in this one.
This problem was not evident during the pre-purchase test drive because the vehicle did not have the gas tank full. However, upon driving the vehicle off the dealer lot post purchase, and during the entire subsequent ownership period, the vehicle exhibited relatively loud thud / knocking noise coming from the rear/fuel tank area upon stopping in urban driving conditions with gas tank full to half empty. The sound was of a sloshing liquid in a container (fuel?), evident in low speed braking and/or going over speed bumps. This is very annoying and completely ruined my ownership experience with honda. I never experienced anything like this with similar models made by competition (nissan sentra and mazda3) and owned by me prior to buying 2013 honda civic. I would not recommend and, most likely, would not purchase honda vehicles myself.
I started my car and noticed a gasoline smell. Drivers side door was open. While the car was still running i stepped around to check the exhaust and noticed liquid pouring from underneath my car on the drivers side near the rear wheel. I realized this was gasoline coming from somewhere near the gas tank. It only poured out when it the cars ignition was in the the 2nd position and running - meaning while the fuel system was under pressure. Having it towed at great expense to carmax. I could have died had i not seen this huge leak!!!
Do not use econ button.occasionally upon applying gas pedal to make a turn orgo forward at stop sign, engine stalls leaving me without go power at the mercyof oncoming traffic.
Mileage consistently 20.8, far low than represented with conservative driving. Dealer test drive 50 mpg. Other dealer represents all test drives come back 50 mpg. Alleging fraud by honda on test drives (maybe similar to vw exhaust testing). Called honda hq, only told they will document complaint, but had to insist to give vin again as customer service person claimed accidentally deleted when i asked if he could id who make the complaint.my previous honda, accord v6 got better mileage. Purchased vehicle new april 2014.
Cvt - issues with transmission - my car has not been the same recently and i believe it's the cv transmission. When i drive at high speeds (such as 50mph or more, the car seems to be stuck in a lower gear). The car runs rough and it sounds like it's a lower gear when it drives. I brought the car to the dealership (aventura honda in florida) and they saw nothing wrong with it. They did a transmission flush just to be safe and i still have the same issue. I saw that honda had a recall on the cvt transmission for the 2014 and 2015 honda civic models. I can only begin to wonder if the 2013 model also has defects. I have about 47,000 miles on my car and i am the original owner. Please investigate the 2013 honda civic model for possible defects in the cvt.i spent $149 for a flush that did noting to alleviate the noisy and rough transmission issue and had to rent a car for $65 while i waited for the service to be done.
On numerous occasions my manual transmission 2013 honda civic has accelerated on its own in 2nd and 3rd gears.it occurs much more often in 3rd gear and happened twice just today; it has never done this in 1st, 4th, or 5th gears.i don't use cruise control so, unless the cruise control is kicking in on its own somehow, that is not the cause.when the car starts accelerating on its own, i am unable to easily move the gear shift from 2nd or 3rd into neutral and have to either apply alot of pressure to move it into neutral or use the clutch.breaking will sometimes stop the acceleration but not always and sometimes even when i use the brake, when i take my foot off the brake the car will continue accelerating on its own. This has occurred most often at speeds between 25 and 35.the car was purchased new from the dealer.
On 22nd march 2014, i was driving my one year old civic on interstate 55 from jackson towards baton rouge. After traveling about 50 miles with an average speed of 65 to 70 miles per hour, i suddenly faced problem with acceleration. The acceleration went crazy spiking the tachometer between 4000 and 6000 rpm and the car was slowing down though i gave the acceleration. When i gave the acceleration, it was making roaring sound and rpm on tachometer is spiking between 4000 and 6000 rpm. Car was coming to stall slowly from 65 mph, before it could come down to standstill i turned on emergency lights and pulled the vehicle on to the shoulder. Fortunately two vehicles behind me past my car merging to left lane seeing my emergency lights on. After pulling the car on to the shoulder, i have put the car on to parking gear for few minutes and then again shifted back to drive. From thereon i did not face any acceleration problem again for the rest of my 2.5 hours journey. For safety, i just stayed on right lane and drove with constant speed of about 65 mph through out my journey. It was really frightening experience when i was driving at 65 mph and suddenly accelerator not working and going berserk and car slowing down on interstate. I would like to know what could be the problem with my car and if there are any solutions for this. Please let me know, i am really worried now to drive my car on highways and to go on long drives.
Vehicle hesitates occasionally on start up. This is completely unpredictable and requires pushing hard on the accelerator, which results in a very fast takeoff.if you leave an even pressure on the pedal, the car will eventually move off, but this unpredictability can be quite dangerous if you are trying to pull out into a stream of moving traffic.

Hi, an event happened where the civic was not started (keys were in ignition but the car wasn't actually started unbeknownst to the driver, as it was in a loud environment and the car is quiet when it is running). It was on a very slight hill. When the driver put the car in reverse, the car reversed all the way into the street and didn't respond to braking, narrowly missing a car that passed. Once it was in the street; it took trying a few things to get the car to start again or release the keys. Shouldn't there be a safety mechanism that would prevent a car from reversing when it isn't actually running? or something thar would allow the brakes to still function in an event like that? thank you.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph the clutch failed to operate without warning and the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer, who stated the clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.
Left front wheel bearing failed at14,000 miles. Right front wheel bearing failed at 53,000 miles. Failures were determined while travel at speeds from 30 mph to 70 mph and turning right and left.

We were driving in the highway and suddenly i heard this humming sound coming from the tires. It will sound very loud when it is moving and stop when the vehicle is not moving but engine still running. I felt the vehicle is losing speed. I bought this vehicle new from autosport honda dealer in bridgewater nj. When i first bought this vehicle after a year the starter unit of the engine is not working. I returned to the dealer to replace the defective parts under warranty. The driver side power window is defective it move like zigzag when it moves up and down. I believed this is also covered under warranty of the vehicle.
Driving home up 50 degree hill. Approximate speed 35 mph. I took my foot off accelerator because i liketo coast the last 1/4 of the hill for safety, slowing down for any potential idiots who might sail around the corner from the flat cross street, cutting off the part of the street that, by law, should be left clear for the car cominguphill. In a split second, my car accelerates suddenly, as though i had stomped down on the accelerator again.now what do i do? my 2012 honda civic had premature brake failure that is now the subject of a class action lawsuit. Do i get rid of this "new" honda that turned one mid-october???i don't know what to do, given the other stories about unintended acceleration in new hondas.
Cv joint noise when turning left - a clicking or knocking sound which matches the speed of the wheels.this car is four years old and has 12000 miles on it.
I had a total hub failure. Luckily i was only going about 9mph in a parking lot making a slight turn when the failure occurred. I had to have the mechanic replace the knuckle, hub, bearing, caliper and bracket along with abs sensor. If i would've been on the freeway it would've been really bad. The car has 95k miles and maintenances regularly.
Autistic child removed seatbelt to exit car, child somehow became tangled in seatbelt. Belt started retracting. Could not remove child from belt after several attempts. Seat belt would not release and continued to dig itself farther into child's torso. Local fire department had to be called to cut child out of the seatbelt.
The seatbelts did not lock when i had my head on collision causing me to be injured. I was driving 25 mph when i hit black ice and spun out of control and hit an ice snow bank head on.
The regulations on seat head rests have to be changed.i like to sit with my seat back up which forces the head rest into the back of my head forcing my head into a downward position.i endured constant back pain because of the car.i ended up selling my civic si because it was so uncomfortable and buying an older versa. If i hadn't sold it, i would have bent the actual bars back probably affecting their strength. In fact, for a while i had to drive with the headrest turned around just so the car was bearable.
Extremely uncomfortable drivers and passengers front seats.can not adjust seats to rectify the problem.sitting in them for more than 30 minutes causes severe lower back pain and discomfort.
The leather in the middle console and the left arm rest are pulled back for just resting the arm there.
Headrest to far forward, causing neck pain.
I own a 2013 honda.i just found this nhtsa website to register complaints. When i sit in a car, i sit correctly, with the seat fairly upright and my shoulders against the seat back.when i do this in the 2013 honda, and all new cars i have sat in, my head is forced forward and down in a very unnatural, uncomfortable position.the only way i can look at the rod is to lift my shoulders off the seat back, and then my entire upper body weight is supported by my neck.the problem is the headrest is at least 1 inch too far forward.my wife cannot sit in the car for more that 30 minutes without getting a headache.my wife is a physiotherapist with 30 years experience. Her comment is that the headrests are forcing us to sit in ergonomically incorrect positions.older cars had vertical headrests that did not cause this problem.i understand the new headrest positions are due to nhtsa regulations phased in2009 to prevent whiplash.the only way i can drive my car now is to pull the headrest out and put them in backwards.this obviously results in less whiplash protection than even the old vertical headrestsfrom a web search, i have found that many other car owners are being forced to do the same thing.now in many new cars you cannot remove the headrest to turn it around.because of this nhtsa ruling i will not be able to buy a new car, and the car i drive is not safe in the case of a rear end collision.(note:i live in canada but am affected by this nhtsa ruling.the zip code and phone number below are not valid, as only us information is allowed in these fields).
The honda head restrain is uncomfortable and causing a disc bulge in my neck at c-5/c-6. Basically, the head restraint is supposed to protect the head from injury in a read-end collision, however i have been injured just by sitting in the seat. Honda does not provide replacement head restrain or adjustable head restraint, which would allow the driver the option to have a vertical instead of forward tilted head restraint/head rest.
Driver's seat is very uncomfortable.after driving only a few miles my back and legs begin to ache because of the poor seat cushion design, the concave seat back without any lumbar support, and the forward leaning head restraint that keeps me from straightening my back while still maintaining contact with the seat back.i'm tempted to remove the head restraint to reduce the pain somewhat.no manufacturer or dealership repairs have been requested because honda apparently does not see this as a problem that is their responsibility.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that the springs in the front driver and passenger's side seats were protruding out from the cushion of the seats. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated that the seats were functioning as designed. The manufacturer was not made aware of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.
The head restraints on the 2013 honda civic ex areangled so sharply that they cause neck pain and are a severe distraction while driving. The immediate solution is to turn them around, which render them much less effective, thus creating a huge safety issue (but that's what just about everyone i talked to suggested and/or has already done.) the other solution is to have them modified, which is another safety issue.my calculation is that they need to be tilted back at least 15 degrees, but most likely 20.
Head restraints are extremely uncomfortable and cause back and neck pain. No way to adjust the seat of restraints enough to alleviate the discomfort.
The headrests on this car are such that they push down the heads of both drivers ! they lean forward much too much ! we are 5'6" tall and 4'11" tall. They would be much better if they were just flat rather than canted forward. Very poor design.they don't protect "anything" if they are turned around so that one can actually drive the car !!!
The head restraint and seat are awful. Neck is so far pushed forward, it goes numb, gets stiff, travels to the rest of body. Get incredibly dizzy after driving. Legs get stiff and numb from no lower lumbar support. Never had anything even remotely close to this issue before purchasing car. I'm a trainer, live a very active life. My quality of life has decreased due to pain and suffering from this vehicle.
The head restraints on this model of civic ( and other 2012-2014 ), possibly other models such as the accord are angled so forward to prevent whiplash, to the order of -150mm. These push the head of the driver way forward, forcing into a posture where the head is bent forward.to avoid this the seat has to be reclined back, where in back has no support and the driver is bent like a "c" trying to reach the steering. This has caused serve back problems, and associated problems with the back, neck and shoulder.this is a well known problem and reported by multiple customers, yet honda does not acknowledge this or provide an alternative or solution.honda has made this to look their safety numbers good , to compensate for other week areas , where the overall safety rating increases.honda's asian models of the very same cars, don't have such forward forcing head rests.this vehicle is not drivable for more than 30 minutes at a stretch and it takes days to recover once the pain sets in.took the car back the dealer, they suggested removing the headrest all together or turning is back, where the distance is around +150mm, which is not good in preventing a whiplash at all.this problem has caused health issues, multiple doctor visits, time lost and associated costs with the doctors visits and tests.safety is good, but this has gone in the wrong direction, to protect from whiplash is good, but this design is inducing problems without any accidents. It takes days to recover once the pain sets in.urge, someone please look into this and force the manufacturers to address the whiplash safety in a right way, instead of cutting corners and taking the easy way out, there by affecting the health of the consumers.
The head restraint is uncomfortable enough to cause sever neck pain/injury for me.to protect from whip lash the design is done in way to cause injury to neck. This is really bad, many are going to end up in therapy or orthopedics due to poor design like me :-(
The contact leases a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that the head restraint would make driving uncomfortable. The contact called the dealer but the dealer cannot change the style of the head restraint and stated that the component was compliant with vehicle safety standards. The failure mileage was unavailable.updated 2/27/14updated 3/7/2014
Purchased a 2013 honda civic on 08/31/13. On 09/02/13 car had to be towed back to culver city dealership.while pulling away from curb wheel felt heavy and the console lit up with red, organ and yellow lights, indicating that the power steering and breaks needed to be checked and low oil pressure.my son and i were going down hill and picking up speed with no power steering or breaks. He continued to pump the breaks but there was no response, he finally pulled the emergency break and turned the wheel extremely hard into the curb. Came three feet from hitting a parked bmw.
The vsa modulator failed. The vehicleand part are currently with a dealership [for one month at time of message] and should be available for inspection. The vsa controls wheel spin and brakingalong with other functions while driving. The failure made it unsafe to drive on the road. Braking was not the same. The part was inspected by dealership mechanic who stated there was an internal failure, they could not work on. As a result the part must be replaced. When car started abs, power steering, and other warning lights came on and stayed on while driving. The lights would occasionally turn off and on while driving.
Okay so i bought my 2013/civic with 4200 mil ....at 9000 miles i had to replace my pads and resurface the rotors...mechanic said it was due to my driving habits...now it happens again at 30k..this time had to buy new rotors and pads...mechanic said the same due to driving habits..but now that i see other stories i really have a hard time believing it was my driving that caused it...please look into this and the air bag situation... Thanks
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. While driving at 30 mph, the contact heard a noise from the passenger side of the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rotors and pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000.
I purchased a used 2013 civic sedan from a private seller on march 23rd 2018. The day i bought it, as i was pulling out of the parking lot of the credit union where i met the seller the power steering failed. A yellow warning light that looks like a steering wheel with an exclamation point came on on the dash, and it was very difficult to steer the vehicle. I put it in park, hit the hazards and turned the vehicle off for fear of hitting someone. I contacted the sellers and they came back. We discussed having it towed to the shop, and the previous owner got in it, to re-park it somewhere more out of the way while we waited for aaa. At this time, the car started up fine, no warning light was present and he was able to safely drive it into a parking spot. He suggested that he just drive it to the shop, and i ride over there with his wife. So we did, and they hooked it up to the computer at the shop, and informed me that it didn't throw any codes, and that "the computer doesn't lie" they told me that since it drove over there fine, to just take it home, and don't worry about it.so i did, and i drove it around for a couple weeks until on the 5th of april, again pulling out of a parking space it happened again, yellow steering wheel light and all. Except this time the brakes failed too. Not only could i not steer, i could not stop. I ended up dragging the front end over a flowerbed with a curb, and ripping off the bumper. The car was under warranty and is now at a honda dealership awaiting repairs pending processing of warranty paperwork. Thankfully nobody was hurt in either of these incidents, but it could've easily been different. These power steering failures are know to, and were investigated by the nhtsa in 2013. No recall was issued. I know that this has happened to other people. I believe that this is a serious safety issueand a recall should be reconsidered.
My 2013 honda civic has just 80000 miles. 4 lights came on recently: abs, brakes, power steering and vsa lights. I took it to the honda dealership to get it diagnosed. They said it's the vsa modulator that has gone bad and needs replacing. The part is $1500 not including labor. This part is a known problem for civic and accord models and other honda models. My car still drive normal but those lights indicate a huge risk. I would like to get it repaired but the dealer said they don't have that part, it's on back order with no eta. This means that it is a common problem where everyone is looking for it and supply ran out. Also i was told that thailand did a recall on this part and honda agreed to the recall. This is a safety issue and many cars out there have same issues at even lower mileage than mine. And my car 80k miles is still very new. Would you please open an investigation and hopefully have honda do a recall on this part asap. Thanks, jeremy
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that while reversingat approximately 5 mph, the brakes were applied and a loud abnormal noise was emitted from the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000. Djr..updated 08-25-14the consumer stated the nosier had become more disruptive.updated 09/2/2014
My entire dashboard lit up, i️ can't drive the car, because the emergency brake is locked a feel a small tug on the car.
I bought a new car an driving at 245 miles i felt rubbing feel with brakes took car back to honda service!honda road tested vehicle an confirmed there was a problem, removed pads cleaned an reinstalled.returned car same day, this was done at 376 miles.same issue on february 1,2013 2 weeks later took car in an now they say the calipers are sticking car has 600 miles they are keeping it for a week due to not having the parts.i don't feel safe, never took car on freeway due to this issue!what can i do?purchased on 12-19-2013.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. While attempting to engage the brake pedal, an abnormal noise emitted from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,800.
Under normal driving conditions, i have had my calipers and rotors changed 6 times. I have been told it's a honda civic design issue. That being said on numerous accounts coming off an interstate or many stops in the city my car will not stop no matter what. The emergency brake has to be pulled. It is worse when people are in the car. The brakes heat up so much that i can't do anything.
I've been driving for 35 year and have replaced brakes and rotors numerous times. I've never had to replace brake pads on a 18 month old car. Without warning they wore prematurely down to the metal. After searching for similar complaints, i found a class action lawsuit from 2010 with the accord. Honda lost but they haven't fixed the issue with the civic. There are countless complaints from other honda owners.the service department from two dealers refuse to admit to the problem and referred me to corporate. No more hondas for me.
A dog ran into the street and i had to brake hard quickly.the brakes made a grinding sound and were very unstable causing the car to skid and swerve.took the car in for 15k servicing and was told brakes were shot, got new pads and rotors resurfaced.this was too soon, the serviceman blamed my driving habits.took the car in for servicing near 25k miles and brakes again had to be replace and rotors turned.the service man again blamed my driving habits. I have been driving over 35 years, 6 different cars, the same route for 17 years and never had to get brakes replaced before 30k miles and certainly never had problems with the rotors so soon.
I had tried parallel parking, but couldn't fit in spot. I pulled out of the spot and was stopped parallel to sidewalk on the road with the brake on. Suddenly the car started moving backward. I had not put it into reverse and i had not put the gas on.i was going to start going forward when this happened. I had my foot on the brake but it wouldn't depress and stop the car.i wasn't sure what to do. I know i should have put the emergency brake on, but i was panicking because i didn't know why the car was backing up without me doing anything and why the brake wasn't working.then it stopped moving. I had no problems after that.earlier in the week, however, when i was driving it, i tried to turn on the radio and the button for turning it on didn't work for about 5 minutes.then it suddenly started working again.i will call dealer on monday.
Had to have rear brake rotors resurfaced because of a loud noise during brake application. Dealer said rust on rotors caused by sitting 2 weeks in an airport long term parking lot. Dealer performed the work at no charge.
This is a complaint against honda civic 2013 i purchased on 12/27/2013.there is no accident occurs but if this issue occur on the road, it will lead/cause a big accident to me and to any other nearby vehicle.today (01/07/2013)and with the cold weather i practiced two safety issues.1-check the tire pressure. I checked the tire pressure and it is ok. However, the flag and the issues is continued2-after i drove the vehicle for 7minutes and i stopped in the islamic center to pray for almost 10minutes. I tried to drive the vehicle. The power steering was frozen. It is very stiff and i cannot turn the vehicle left or right. The vehicle kepton rolling/moving forward. I cannot control on it.i have to use the brake. When the brake did not function i have to put the vehicle into park to avoid any accident or hitting any other vehicle.i am requesting the following1- checking the honda civic product all across for similar issue2- ensure honda review the productmy phone number is [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My wife came out to use the car and suddenly the power steering was outshe said that she couldn't drive it, steering was so heavy to turn etc.i was so glad it happened in our driveway and not in the streets or freewaywe're i think something bad would have happened to my wife and the car.
Two lights on my dash came on , one light is for electronic power steering and the other is for vehicle stability assist. These lights came on randomly while driving at less than 15 miles per hour pulling away from a curb. As a result, my power steering became heavy, although it still functions. Vehicle stability control is no longer usable. Further inspection from a code reader shows that these lights came on as a result of a ground to body short.
On april 23, 2014 at about 4:40 p. M. My son was driving 30 mph which is 5 miles under the posted speed limit for that area where he lives. The road leading to the back entrance of his housing complex is a single one-way lane with a wide bicycle lane. This roadway curves slightly to the left leading into the entrance of his housing complex. On approaching the end of the road my son took his foot of the gas to slow down the vehicle, turn the steering wheel to the left (as the road curves naturally to the left) the vehicle suddenly accelerated and steered to the right. My son tried very hard to pull the steering wheel to the left to correct the steering but it would not turn. The steering wheellocked and the vehicle steered uncontrollably to the right, jumping the concrete curb and stuck a concrete street light pole, flipped over and landed a few feet away on the driver's side with five airbags deployed. (oneon the steering wheel, and four over the doors). He was examined by paramedic's on the scene and later observed severe bruising on his abdomen and neck which required further medical attention. The vehicle sustained extensive damage and declared a total lost by the insurance company.
I was driving on the highway and my power steering locked up and would not let me use the steering wheel. Luckily noone was next to me so i put hazarad light and managed to pull over. I turned off the car and the light went off and the power steering returned for a couple minutes only to turn off and not allow the steering wheel to work any longer.
Turned on vehicle, put in reverse backed out of the driveway and electric power steering failed suddenly.wheel was tight and shaky.the power steering warning message and icon only appeared as failure occurred. I put car in park and turned off vehicle. Turned vehicle back on, power steering warning message was gone but icon was still there. I put gear in drive, wheel still tight and shaky and drove foward back into the driveway. Had it towed to mechanics, they said i need electronic power steering unit. I then drove it to dealership to get their diagnosis.
My previous complaint number can be disregarded: 10864804the problem in the 2013 civic turned out to be the wheel bearing and not the transmission as i first thought.
Purchased 2013 new honda civic hf two days ago.initially noticed vibration from right side of vehicle at 70 mph.now it seems that vibration occurs at all speeds.appointment made with honda to check problem.dealership initially guessed that there was a flat spot in tire and it needs to be run.that did not take care of problem.tires are a bridgestone ep20 ecopia 135/65r15.
I was driving at 30 mph and wanted toturn left when the steering wheel got stiff , the notice on the dash board said: "check the power steering system"and i could not controlthe wheel. I panicked and tried hard to turn the wheel. I was able to turn left with a lot of difficulty and i stopped the car. Iwas truly terrified by this incident and had the car towed to the dealer. The mechanic told me that they found a code 71-01 motor angle sensor and he performed an update. He said that now it would be fine. I picked up my car the next day and parked it at home. On sunday, july 21, i was driving to the store and the same exactproblem occurred again. One more time i had it towed to the dealer. Now, they say that the electronic connection was faulty. I am not sure if that will resolve the issue permanently.i am terrified to drive this car. One can be killed easily. This is a serious security issue.
I was on my way home from work in the morning and my steering wheel locked up as i was driving. I tried to physically get the steering wheel to unlock as my vehicle was in motion. I was unable to get it to unlock andan accident happened andi ended up in a ditch with extensive damage to my vehicle.
2013 civic lx.on 8/2/2013 while slowing down to stop at a traffic light, my power steering froze and i was unable to control the car. Indicator light read check power steering system. Took the car to the dealership (honda north, danvers, ma) where they replaced the electronic power steering control unit.i had been driving the car for less than 4 months and it had 2,586 mileage.on 6/14/2014 while starting to drive through an intersection, my power steering froze again.i was traveling about 5 - 10 mph, and was unable to control the car.indicator light read check power steering system.i have had the car 14 months, and it has 5,786 mileage.let me restate that:this car has less than 5,800 miles and the power steering system has failed twice.in both of these cases, the car was moving very slowly, but if i had been moving at a rapid rate of speed and lost control, i couldn't been killed.it is by sheer luck that i wasn't hit during the most recent episode.

I was driving and my power steering locked up and would not let me use the steering wheel. I turned off the car and the light went off and the power steering returned for a couple minutes only to turn off and not allow the steering wheel to work any longer
Vehicle was stationary after warming up my car i receive the following error messages: check power steering system and check vsa system.i checked the internet and noticed that other owners had similar error messages.i don't think this random, a recall should happen to find our the cause of the problem.see attached testimonials
2013 honda civic.consumer writes in regards to vehicle power steering.the consumer stated while driving, the power steering light illuminated. The power steering went out completely, and it was very difficult to drive the vehicle. When her husband arrived, the power steering was functioning properly. As her husband was driving, to the dealer, the power steering went out again. When he arrived at the dealer, the power steering light illuminated again. The dealer acknowledged there was a problem. The dealer had the vehicle for six days, where they replaced the rack and pinion. The dealer assured the consumer, they shouldn't have another problem. However, the consumer experienced power steering failure again.the vehicle was towed to the dealer. However,an inspection did not reveal any problems.the dealer called the consumer back and stated they believed they found the problem. They indicated the wiring going to the power steering system shorted out. The dealer stated the factory had not soldered the wires together and the wiring punctured through the skin and shorted out causing the power steering to out. The dealer re-wired and re-soldered the connection.

The paint on my civic began to peel after a few years. Honda did repaint some of the panels for free but others were not fixed. It has continued to peel on many other panels. I went to get an estimate on selling my car from a dealer yesterday and was told that the peeling paint was causing over a $1000 in lost resale value.
I bought this 2013 hondacivic after owning a 2008 civic new from my local dealer. There has been three new windshield put in my honda civic. The 1stwindshield had a fish eye in it. The second windshield on the middle right side had a distortion when you look through it things lookwavy. The thirdwindshield was worse same side same area smaller waves . I toldthe honda rep there must be a problem with the manufacturingprocess with the film they use in the windshield he told me all cars has this .i owned a lot of cars all different makes this is the first time i had any windshield with this kind of problem. My local hondadealer service manager and others peopleat the dealership see thesame distortion . This distortion could cause accident .the factory rep at the end said he couldn't see the distortion ?
Peeling paint on my 2013 honda civic lx.american honda refuses to cover cost of painting except for $1,500 of the dealership's $6,000 estimate.the peeling started on the roof and is spreading all over my car.
My 2013 honda civic sedan with less than 54,000 miles on it, has the paint peeling problem as outlined in honda's tsb #14-034 whereas this model year is granted a 7 year extension on its paint. However, honda has put in some escape windows to get out of this, the main one being when you actually rolled the car off of the dealership's lot. After taking my civic in to have the paint repaired, their dpsm (a factory representative), would not allow it to be fixed at their cost. I am almost 60 years old now, and for over 20 years, i was a professional and certified mechanic, and service manager as well. I had also worked almost 6 years in the only mercedes-benz factory located in the u.s. Between 1980-1990 when it closed here in our area of virginia. With such low mileage, and this obvious factory paint defect, one would think that a company such as honda, would honor the quality standard of their products. Not the case at all here. After going back and forth with their factory representative at american honda on the telephone just now, they are only willing to cover about $850 of a $3100.00 paint job. Being a former mechanic and service manager who has worked for years with tsb's and safety recalls, this truly astounds me here. Switching over to toyotas now after 43 years of being a faithful honda customer. As a professional mechanic, i would stay clear of these honda vehicles due to this issue, and it goes across their many product lines over many years too. Mechanically for the most part, hondas are great vehicles. But it is shameful to see them running around here only a few years past new, with their paint jobs peeling off. They need to honor these repairs. There is only right and wrong in life, never an in-between. Stay away from hondas.
The overhead material on the ceiling is coming down after only 4.5 years, at the back window area,
On 7/18/17, at around 8pm on highway 280 sb by lawrence expwy in santa clara, ca, i was driving home when i heard a huge bang. I had to pull over to realize my sunroof had shattered. There was no rock or any other piece of material in sight. I believe that the glass exploded because of the heat since it has been hot and i rarely open my moonroof. Had my moonroof been opened, i would have been hit by glass and injured, possibly crashed. You can see that the hole is quite big, about 10 inches in diameter, and the whole section seems to be inclined upwards, making me believe that it exploded on it's own from heat pressure.
Windshield fogs up rapidly in winter within first few minutes of driving. Faster than air conditioning can dry car interior. As a result, visibility is reduced to zero and i always have to pull over to wait 10 minutes for it to dry. This happens on cold days below 30 f, but it has not happened to me in any other car i drive or have driven.
Chipped and pealing paint on hood and by driver and passenger front window
Drivers side of door sticks won't close properly. Today had to open door from drivers side and then notice that the bottom of passenger side padding is coming off. Took it in to get fix. Honda of roanoke rapids called tech line. Tech line has no information on how to fix it. Door is sticking.they haven't got back to honda yet. So what am i to do on a brand new car. Give me a new car or tell tech line to find out how to rectify it.
The paint on the hood starting peeling off drastically. Honda has recalled this make and model for some colors but orr honda texarkana refused to listen to my complaint.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that the front driver's side door would not close unless excessive force was used. The door would also make a grinding noise upon closing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated that the door hinge would have to be adjusted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3000.
Honda civic 2013 was in a front end collision where the car was totaled. Airbags never deployed. Accident was on the highway in motion. Driver or passenger airbags never deployed. Mileage is estimated.
The problem began in 2016 as a few patches of slight discoloration, where the paint appeared lighter or duller than the surrounding area. Eventually the clear coat started to pull back from the car and chip the paint. This continued to grow into a full-fledged peel-a-thon.the affected areas are the hood, fenders, around the gas tank, the trunk and the roof. The peeling is noticeable, growing, and not a function of neglect or abuse. It's like the paint was not properly applied or there is some manufacturer error that is causing the problem.
The 'check airbag' light comes on all the time when i seat or while driving.when i bought the car the paint was bubbly and had rust spots.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that the front driver's side door would exhibit a grinding sound whenever being closed. The failure progressed and the door became difficult to close unless excessive force was used. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician performed an adjustment to the door hinge. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 500.
The car body exterior is showing significant paint problems on the roof and the back trunk door. The paint is chalking and paint on the front is cracked.
Cloudiness in paint over the last few years. Today, a huge piece of paint tore off my trunk lid at the car wash.
I am writing to express concern about an issue i recently had with my 2013 honda civic and to see if the issue i had is a known issue with honda civics. On 11 february, my car hit a curb and the honda dealership, upon inspecting the car, told me that my front lower control arm was broken, forcing a repair of the control arm, steering knuckle, front wheel bearing, and front damper/strut. The damage allegedly caused by the curb seems excessive to the level of impact. I am aware of previous issues with control arms in honda civics, which is the reason i am asking if similar issues have arisen in more recent models.please let me know if you have any additional questions about this incident or if this is part of a larger problem with honda civics for which they should be responsible to fix. Thank you.
I just want it on the record that the car rode/ felt squirrelly from the get-go.i keep thinking - either something is seriously wrong w/ this car, or it's the tires.so, to do an expensive test, i spent the 1100.00, yes, one thousand, one hundred dollars on new tires and wheels.i purchased michelin.and yes - it was a "new car".my car drove so much better than continental tires.their product, in my opinion, is horrible, bar-none horrible!my complaint is still my visibility on the front - i do not like the design of this honda civic 2013 at all - the front mirrors are placed terrible.the round bubble of the whole front design is so horrible that i cannot wait to pay this car off and give it away to my family member.i cannot wait to purchase a new car - and i know i will not purchase honda.
My previous complaint number can be disregarded: 10864804the problem in the 2013 civic turned out to be the wheel bearing and not the transmission as i first thought.

Driving at 40 mph no road hazard less than 19,000 miles on the car, the tire went flat with a side wall crack!the dealership decided it was road hazard, but i know different!the second tire cracked while driving 35 miles per hours.firestone tires don't seem to be safe.i will not recommend or purchase tires from firestone or purchase another car with firestone tires on it!
Continuation on firestone affinity junk tires. I don't feel safe driving on these tires. Plus, i inspected the other 3 tires, there is a horseshoe crack in the sidewall/drivers front. Getting jacked around from victory honda and firestone dealership on accountability issues. There was no magical road hazard, cop out?!# thousands of cars on the highway in california, my tires are the only magnet for glass/snags???? garbage tires, what are you check collectors waiting for? crash and or deaths. Flagrant recall issue!!!
On 01/07/2013, since the vehicle started , it report tire pressure. It asks to check the tire pressure.?the tire pressure in the vehicle was ok. However, the vehicle and during my driving cycle reports this ?issueissue was reported to the honda dealer.
There is no problem with my vehicle.i want to complain about the led lights on multiple other vehicles on the road.they are blinding, very distracting, and should be illegal.something needs to be done.the date entered below is the most recent occurrence, but it happens regularly - almost daily.
Takata recall, i noticed yesterday when rolling my windows down that my back left window was not rolling down. When i was parked i tried pushing the button up and down to see if it would roll down and it wouldn't. It made a slight clicking sound and than stopped. Today, i called gary smith honda to see what the issue may be and they said it was the motor inside the door. I called auto zone and they looked up the year and model of my car to find the correct part and than informed me that the part was sold out locally and the vendor online was also sold out for the year and make of my car. With that said, there's a strong indication i am not the only one having the problem. I find it out of the usual for a window that is rarely if ever rolled down to have a motor go out. The other windows roll up and down with no problem.
Aloha, bought this honda civic, hybrid in 2013 brand new and love it overall. Had an issue when adjusting the inside mirror that it actually came off in my hand while i was drying ! ..... I didn't feel that i was that forceful in adjusting the mirror so was very surprised to see it pop off like that, and also very dangerous while on the highway in doing so. Had to pull over to the side of the road, and was able to pop the ball joint thingy back into place. Hmm...... I've never had a car do that before !!....... Very dangerous and should be looked into. We had called the main honda dealership on mainland, reported it, and have a case number on it, as well as taking the car to the hilo, hawaii honda dealership where we bought the car and reporting the issue ! thanks.
Black crystal pearl paint fading on roof
The vsa stay on and my power steer turn on and off sometimes it's hard to turn i hard to pull over the freewayto shut the car off and then on in order to retain my power steering, my traction control doesn't work wich am guessing it's related with the vsa and my airbag light turns on my dash then turns off am a little terrified i might loose complete control off my car and my airbag will go off or not even pop off incase of an accident or i might cause an accident if i keep loosening my power steering (electronical power steering)
Vehicle was stationary after warming up my car i receive the following error messages: check power steering system and check vsa system.i checked the internet and noticed that other owners had similar error messages.i don't think this random, a recall should happen to find our the cause of the problem.see attached testimonials
Takata recall.the check airbag light is on.when i entered my vin number, it says my vehicle is not part of the recall.however, my check airbag light is on which makes me think there is a defect.
My 2013 honda civic hesitates when i attempt to accelerate suddenly. This is dangerous when trying to make a left hand turn in front of oncoming traffic, or merge at a freeway entry and accelerate to highway speeds.the electronic fuel injection, computer control or the engine or cv transmission may be the cause. I suspect the computer control, as the car is equipped with "eco mode". But the problem occurs whether "eco mode" is on or off. This has happened repeatedly, but i will only list the most recent issue below.
Takata recall
Tire sensor always going off service claims no problems with tires and next day tire goes flat happens over and again, owner gets tired of guessing if its low air or a flat is about to happen dangerous to drive not knowing sensors are never right
Tpms indicator light on. Tires inflated at the proper pressure. I had same problem with my 2011 honda civic, dealer wanted to charge $112 per tire to correct it. This is highway robbery nhtsa should not allow it. Otherwise car drives fine, it is just one more gimmick auto manufacturers inject w/federal blessing to rip-off consumers.
Only 18 months old & had to replace the motor for the window on drivers side ~ wouldn't roll up. All the parts were sold out and had to get one from honda dealer in phx.apparently this is a common problem as the tech looked it up & found numerous issues.this was an expensive repair (on a tight budget) but was able to make payments.very disappointed there was no compensation from honda!
Once i turn the engine on i get a continuous notice to check tire inflation; when i check it the repairman finds no tire problem.
The paint on my vehical is been peeling since i brought the car. Its small amounts around the car that noticeable. On the roof, side doors, and truck
Honda civic 2013 was in a front end collision where the car was totaled. Airbags never deployed. Accident was on the highway in motion. Driver or passenger airbags never deployed. Mileage is estimated.
Interior light's on the whole dash board flash while in motion driving, stopped at stop sign's or red light, stopped to make a turn and paint around windshield is peeling
I set the speed, using the cruise control, at 65 mph or 70 mph.upon encountering a hill the car will slow down to as much as 60 or 65. Eventually the cruise control will kick in and the auto-throttle will accelerate the car quickly to 5 mph beyond the set speed. If it were set at 65, the car might accelerate to 70; set at 70 it might go to 75.additionally, when i hit the brake to disengage the cruise control, it may take a couple of seconds for the throttle to disengage.several times cars have passed me when the car automatically slowed going up a hill.after passing me, other vehicles thought it was safe to pull back into my lane, in front of me. If the cruise control kicked in at some point immediately after they passed, and my car started racing forward, putting little or no distance between myself and the car that just passed me, then i had to swerve to avoid an accident with the car that just passed because my car was lunging forward.unknown to the car that passed, it was no longer safe for them to pull back into the right lane (two lanes going same direction).upon complaining to two dealerships, they stated that what i was saying just wasn't true, but they were unwilling to take a test drive with me to confirm my experience.they noted that they had received several complaints, but stated that the gain and loss variance in speed was no more than 2 or 3 miles per hour due to the defective cruise control. I believe honda is well aware of this dangerous feature, and that they are doing their best to sweep it under the rug.as far as i'm concerned, they can fix it, or take the car back.at this point, i really don't care.i do not like having a car with a feature i can not use because using the feature creates too much of a road hazard.
For any speed above 25mphthis issue occurs at any speed the cruise control is active.i noticed this issue almost around august 2014.issue occurs with setting speed control. In this model, the customer can choose either choose res +, res ??.i found out if i choose res -, the vehicle sets the speed correctly most of the time with +/-1 mile which is ok.during this mode, each time the customer press ??-??, the vehicle speed decreases by one mile which is as designed.sometimes, the vehicle does not hold the speed at the requested set speed and the vehicle speed continue decrease without limiti found out if i choose res +, the vehicle sets the speed correctly most of the time with +/-1 mile which is ok.during this mode, each time the customer press ??+??, the vehicle speed increases by one mile which is as designed.sometimes, the vehicle does not hold the speed at the requested set speed and the vehicle speed continue decrease without limitthe main and the most serious issue is, if the customer choose res -, then apply/press the brake the cruise control will be cancelled which is ok then if the customer choose res + after that, the vehicle speed continue rising without limit. This could cause accident if the driver did not pay attentions especially because it is not the normal operation.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the accelerator failed to respond to acceleration attempts. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle erroneously decelerated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 4,000. The current mileage was 5,200.returned by usps on 11-14-2013, secong attempt on 11-14-2013 failed.

Sometimes when i slow down to make a left or right turn, i press the accelerater and nothing happens.this has been happening for several months.i took it to the dealer and they said it was because of being in econ mode.i don't use econ mode in spring, summer & fall and it still happens; not every time but 2 or 3 times a week. If i were to try to make a quick turn and it did that ii could have an accident.i've been driving mostly hondas since 1984 and have never had this or any other problem.please look into this as it could have serious repercussions. Updated 04/3/2015
I was driving and made a turn on a city street and suddenly the car auto-accelerated to a high speed and the brakes did not stop it nor the hand-brake. It only stopped when it hit against another car.i bought the car 3 months ago from the honda dealership and it was a certified honda vehicle.

We had called the main honda dealership on mainland, reported it, and have a case number on it, as well as taking the car to the hilo, hawaii honda dealership where we bought the car and reporting the issue ! thanks.
Driving through a thunderstorm in 2019 on sb highway 49 in arkansas.large bolt of lightning in the distance with very loud thunder. My windshield wipers cam to ta complete stop and started up again within a few seconds. Date of occurrence is only approx.
No incident has occurred, yet.this is a warning to prevent accidents.honda has moved the position of the driver's side side-view mirror from what it was on my previous 2000 year model.the current position makes it very difficult to see traffic approaching the driver side of the car, even when the mirror is adjusted as far to the side as possible.i think it is because the mirror has moved too close to the driver, rather than closer to the front of the car.i'm guessing they did this since they made the driver side window two pieces instead of one (they added a small triangle shaped window at the front of the window).this is an accident waiting to happen.

Spontaneous/catastrophic passenger side window failure. 2013 honda, civic si.the car was 3 weeks old and 2480 miles.while driving at 75 mph, the passenger side window exploded.the temp was 94 degrees, winds 20 to 25 mph on the nose.most of the broken glass went out of the car, but some of the glass entered the car, into the right passenger seat and rear seat. I was the only one in the car.the broken glass was in small little pieces, some in little chips.i feel this glass could have caused injury to anyone in the passenger seat or rear seat.
The contact owns a 2013 honda civic. The contact stated that the panoramic sun roof leaked continuously onto the rear seat. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the sun roof needed to be cleaned out. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the drainage to the sun roof was misaligned. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure was persistent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,213.
My previous complaint number can be disregarded: 10864804the problem in the 2013 civic turned out to be the wheel bearing and not the transmission as i first thought.
The check toms system (tpms) 'dummy light' has been my on nav dash since 1 month after i got this 2013 civic lx.my hubby, a 32 yr master tech for cadillac/gm couldn't even fix it with schematics from honda.
I started getting a notice to check tire pressure. I checked it and then next day my car was parked all day, the following day i went to my car to drive to my mom's 50 miles away, the notice to check tire pressure came on again, i stopped and my back passenger tire was almost flat. It was sunday and the only place open was walmart automotive dept. They took tire off to fix it and found that tire's sidewall had blown out making it impossible to repair the tire. It was a continental tire. I had to purchase another brand tire and i am taking the damaged tire to honda. I only have 24,000 miles and the side blown out was the side inside of the wheel well. I only drive on main highways and would have had a blow out had i not checked it out.
