I received a notice that tk holdings inc. Filed for chapter 11 but im not sure what i need to do to get new air bags placed into my vehicle. Since this notice of defective air bags i have not heard from honda about replacing my airbags,i am not sure what to do next please help.sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Honda civic 2012 has a defective passenger side airbag sensor system. My son who is 14 years old and 102 lbs sits in the passenger seat.when he makes any shifts like lean on one side or the other, the auto warns the airbag is off. We see this warning with big illumination.when the passenger centers himself on the seat, the warning goes away. The lean can be on any side.the slightest lean such that his left leg is not putting all the weight can trigger this.i have reported this to the dealer and he says this is by design. I have reported this to honda motor company and they are logged a report.i have never seen this with toyota, lexus, hyundai. Even with a younger kid it does not trigger airbag warning.so this is honda civic defect which can be catastrophic in accident situation where the passenger will be shifted by collision.

I don't know what a takata recall is, but per honda's website i have no recalls. I was in an accident on 5/21 around 2pm. I was driving on a straight city road close to getting on the highway going about 25mph. The woman who was driving next to me "didn't see me" as she turned into my lane. She scraped the whole passenger side door then her car lodged into my car near where the door & front part of the car meet on the passenger side. The car hit right neat the side airbag, but none of the airbags went off. That is what i'm worried about. Why did none of the airbags go off?

I understand that my car has an airbag recall, but never even was notified by anyone, and just found out about a class action law suite, need to know if i will ever get notified about it and will they be fixed ?

Hi,i would like to bring to your notice in regards to my 2012 honda civic cpe.the issue is with passenger side airbags. In january when one of my friends 9 yr old son sat in front passenger seat for 2 mile ride, the passenger side air bag sign showed the airbags are off. I can see the airbag light off all while during my drive.i tried by making aadult sit in the front passenger seat then there is no warning sign abt the airbags.it happenstimes when ever my friends 9yr old son sits in front passenger seat.i took the car to t he dealer to check on airbags, they said everything is ok. But am not convinced.but i feel concerned abt other cars, who drive with kids in the front passenger seat.kindly please check with airbags related to this particular vehicle.

While decelerating (sudden), my seatbelt tensioner and airbag deployed with no collision or contact with anything. Initially, the honda dealer said that the airbag only deploys when there is contact. Both honda dealer and aaa (my insurance) examined the vehicle and found no sign of collision or damage. Honda has now said that in a sudden deceleration, the airbag is designed to deploy without any contact. The unneeded deployment of the systems could have led to an impact and worse damage.

Takata recallair bag light continues to turn on and off when someone puts on a seat belt or sits in the back seat

On oct. 24 and 25, 2018, a message "airbag system" suddenly appeared on my dashboard. On oct. 25, 2018, i took the car to robertson honda were they determined there was something wrong with the airbag system. I was asked if my car was ever involved in an accident and i said no. He informed me that i would have to pay for fixing the problem because the warranty had already expired. When i protested, he said he would check with his supervisor and when he came back he said they would fix the problem but i would have to pay $90.00. I didn't tamper with the airbag system so honda should absorb the costs,. I called honda corporate office and was told thatbecause my car was not on the list of recall, and the warranty had already expired, i would have to pay the said amount. Are they right?

Out of blue airbag of my honda civic deployed while i was driving my car 25 mph. And airbag suddenly popped out.

I was in an accident.thy front of thy car was crushed.my car is deemed a loss and total . The airbags never went off.i was driving an struck a buck killing him instantly.i was wearing my seat belt and have suffered a concussion from the accident.

Check airbag system light on.

Takata recall on airbags associated with my vehicle.

During a mild rain event today i drove my car for no more than 35 minutes at no more than 60 mph. When i arrived at my destination, i noticed a wet spot where the driver's side curtain airbag cover meets the interior roof cover along the a pillar. I suspect that water is leaking in near the junction of the windshield and roof rail seal as they appear to have deteriorated. I am concerned that this leak will cause a malfunction in my driver side curtain airbag, a major safety concern. The following youtube video demonstrates the issue perfectly (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiyznf6igbe).

Hello good morning, yesterday i was getting home and i was pressing the brake pedal and when i release the pedal my car was getting into my parking slot at a speed of 5 mph, suddenly lights started blinking and the card accelerated it self hitting a rock or something in front of my house. I have a little injured in my hand but nothing i think serious.

As i was driving to work at 4:30 am in heavy fog i hit a deer that was standing in the road. I noticed as i got out of the vehicle the car said something about the airbag sensor, well i didn't think nothing of it as i was worried about the condition my car was in at the time. Well the body shop that fixed my car stated the airbag should have 100% deployed due to the fact the sensor was busted and the wire was completely into. My concern is why in the world did the airbag not deploy? i am glad it didn't but what if it had been a collision with a car. Would the airbags not deploy and i take a chance on dying because of faulty airbags? i am really upset about this situation. I do not feel safe driving this car now...and i loved this car and one reason i bought this was because of safety..but now i do not know if i made the right choice. Now the car is "fixed" the check airbag and emission system light is on. I am takingit to honda as soon as i can, but i am driving this car without seat belt working and the airbags not working...can someone please help me with this?thank you...

Driving through parking lot at about 3 miles an hour pedestrian stepped in front of the vehicle i do apply the brakes upon doing so the driver side airbag in the steering column deployed. There was no contact with any other vehicle no damage whatsoever to the car other than the airbag seatbelt deploying. Took the car to the local honda dealership a representative from honda america looked up the car and said since there was a scratch on the bumper probably from a shopping cart, that there was sufficient evidence to say that the airbag should've went off. Honda refuses to take responsibility for the repairs for this vehicle that is now unsafe but on the road.

Upon occasion, this message appears on the alert panel passenger side side airbag failed (yes the word side appears twice) it does not stay on long - usually when i restart the car it goes away. I have not taken a picture of the alert. I have asked a service rep (non honda) about it when i have taken it in for service. They could not find anything. The alert does stay on when the vehicle is put in motion.the date i entered below for when it last occurred is an estimate

Air bag light comes on. Have there been similar complaints on honda vehicles? the light stays on. While driving on a city streets the light stays on.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated the passenger side air bag erroneously deactivated while the seat was occupied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure.updated 03/05/14*ljthe dealer stated it was possible the passenger was sitting incorrectly. Updated 03/11/14

The air baglight turn on for no reason and passages air bag never activates. I took my car with a mechanic and the diagnostic was there's something wrong with air bag and seat belt.

Check air bag system

Check airbag system light will turn on as soon as i start driving. Srs code 11-10 open in the driver's airbag first inflator.

My check air bag light has been on and off again for months.after several visits to the dealer they determined the inflator is the issue and i need to pay for it as it is not affected by the recall.i completely disagree with this and feel it is impacted by the recall.

Front end collision.30 mph. Ran into stopped car ahead.airbag did not deploy.

On april 1, 2019 i was involved in a collision at an intersection on city streets and the airbag in steering wheel did not deploy however the passenger side curtain airbag did deploy.the impact was front and passenger side of vehicle.i hit the steering wheel with force and now the steering wheel does not lock in place and i am ha ing a lot of pain in sternum and ribs.shouldn't the driver airbag have deployed?the car is probably totaled. I am waiting for insurance adjuster to inspect it.

For quite a few thousand miles the passenger airbag light comes on when a person or bag is in te seat. It's comes on and off, it is very unaettling

We bought the car,we been driving it normally and the airbag light comes on every time we start the car for the past week

While driving , or once i turn the car on the check airbag words comes up on the dashboard, it comes up out of the blue. This also happened to the last honda civic i owned. I took it to the dealer and they stated they couldn't find anything wrong.

The check air bag system comes on and stays on!

Ever since i bought the honda civic 2012, i've had problems. The first problem is the air bags turning on and off. Apparently, the air bags turn off if a child/someone is under 100 pounds. However, all my previous ex's were around 110 pounds, so the airbags turn off or on. I would hate to have one of my girlfriends die because of a crash where the airbag did not go off.second problem: the car will not start multiple of times! i had my battery checked multiple times and it is not the alternator, either! apparently the steering wheel problem or the security system drains the battery. I had to buy a rechargeable battery and jumper cables which i carry in my trunk because i am tired of calling my insurance company or security at that location to jump start my car.

Takata recall ....i received a noticed in the mail about this recall and i looked into it. Low and behold my vin# was one of the ones that was tied to the takata recall. If there is anything wrong with my vehicle in anyway i would like for it to be corrected before the problem gets out of hand.

When i drive in the passenger side of the vehicle the passenger and side air bags turn off and on. It did this at least 30 times in a 1 hour drive and has happened numerous times. I weigh 130 lbs. But when my son sits there who weighs 150 lbs nothing happens. I have read several complaints. I took it to the dealer and they say nothing is wrong with it. They told me everything is working just fine and the sensors are fine. I have read through several complaints about the vehicle with this problem, but the dealerships and honda seem to think it is ok.

I was on a residential street and had a very low front impact car accident.i was at a stop sign.i barely took my foot off of the brake and put my foot on the accelerator.a car came out of no where and i hit them. I was going 5-7mph, my front steering wheel and passenger airbags deployed.i don't think they should have at such a slow speed.the driver airbag broke my right lower arm. It broke both bones and tore a nerve which required surgery.i now have two plates and many screws in my arm with nerve damage.i have no feeling in parts of my thumb and first two fingers and half of my knuckle area is also numb.this accident happened on september 16, 2016.it is the middle of december and i am still too scared to drive.i still can't use my arm because it still hasn't healed.i have suffered physically and emotionally because of the air bag breaking my arm.if the air bag didn't deploy, i wouldn't have been hurt at all.could there have been something wrong with my airbags?a recall??i would hate for this to happen to someone else.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated while traveling 4 to 5 mph a crash occurred. The air bag failed to deploy. There was no mention of an injury. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the actuator for the air bag failed and needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 12,000 and the current mileage was 20,000.

The airbag sign keeps popping on when i am driving. Then i will have to have my children lean to their left away from the doors in order for the airbag sing to go off. After a few minutes the airbag off sign will pop on. This happens frequently. The sign will pop on while i'm at a light, or driving on the highway, city streets, or turning.

During the first year of my daughter owning the 2012 civic she has encountered air bag issues. When she rides in the passenger seat, with her husband driving, the airbag light periodically comes on, indicating the airbag is turned off. Since this is a safety hazard and she may not be protected with the airbag during an accident, they took the car back to the dealer for service on three documented times over a period of several months. This excludes the multiple trips back when parts have been ordered or being sent home without service due to time issues. The dealer is largo honda in florida city, florida. Each time she went, they changed different components and on multiple times asked her to stay for a test drive to see if the problem could be reproduced and to determine if the failure of a major safety component of the car had been fixed. Each time the safety problem surfaced either on the ride home or within a day or two of being in for the repair. In fact the last time they returned the car for service to largo they replaced the full passenger seat without resolving the airbag problem. We are concerned about anyone riding in the passenger seat due to the question if the airbag system is functional or not.

Collision left front of car, passenger air bag deployed, drivers did not. Car was driving on a parking lot steering to the left and i struck concrete piller protecting lamp post

Takata recall. My vehicle was in motion, going straight and someone pulled out in front of me. My car was impacted on the front, hitting the other driver on the drivers side of the car. My airbag deployed and i suffered severe burns to my wrists and biceps.

Takata recall, the airbags turn off when going downhill on a street and highway when trying to use the brakes and while not using the brake. This happens when the car is in motion. This continues to occur and has happened more then once.

Every now and then at random times, speeds, etc. The warning light that says "passenger airbag off" comes on.this happens when someone weighing as much as 145 lbs. Is sitting in that seat.....updated 12/15/15 updated 09/01/2017

Car in front of me slammed on brakes suddenly and i collided with the rear of other car in a forward motion. The airbag was deployed and my wrist was broken.the airbag deployed with such force that the windshield was shattered. The inside of the car was smokey from the chemicals of the airbag, i had wheezing for 2 days following accident.

Takata recall

My airbag lights literally go on and off multiple times while i'm driving. I am not sure what brand air bags are in my car, they could be the takata recalled part, but not sure. Whenever i have something in the front seat, or a person is sitting in the front seat the airbag lights on the dash come on. They will come on and go off while i am driving. This happens on the street, highway, anytime.

While the vehicle is in motion and making left or right hand turns (90 degree turns) with the vehicle going ~10 mph the airbag warning lightturns and stays on for some time before it disappears. However, the frequency of the airbag warning lights have increased. I took the vehicle to the dealership for further investigation and was told the issue is coming from a cable reel and the driver inflation may need to be replaced too.according to the honda technician- if the issue/parts remain unfixed, the airbag will fail to deploy in a forward movement crash.

Passenger airbag while driving, had an 11yr about 100lbs, if kid slightly moved i would get the airbag warning.brakes sometimes it feels like i have to completely "floor" the brakes to stop the car, even tho speed its at about 30mphfuel when tank is almost empty, the light, screen and 'ding' would go on non-stop until refueleddisplay the mileage number would start blinking randomly.

Driver airbag alert light on all the time the passenger air bag light goes off and on all the time

Takatarecall ,passengers air bag light will come on and say air bag not on . This happens a lot . When i tell them at honda service dept . They say it's because youhave a light bag in the seat . Makes no sense to me .in motion ,stationary city street .

Passengerairbag inflator sensor started showing up in my 2012 honda civic.i'm worried the airbags might activate. Iwanted to know if is a recall

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while at a stop, another vehicle crashed into the driver side of the contact's vehicle. The contact sustained a laceration to the right leg and multiple fractures to the pelvis which required medical attention. The contact believed that all the injuries sustained were caused by the air bags deploying. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,210.

Takata recall. I purchased my car in 2015. Shortly after that the passenger airbag warning was on constantly. About a year ago the airbag warning came on for the driver side as well. (this is the date listed below) my car is warning me that i have no airbags. I've received "recall notices" in the mail and have called honda a number of times concerning the recall. They said my car is not part of the recall. My car seems to be telling me a different story. It's too coincidentalwhen other honda civics are having this problem and are part of a recall. Please check this out for me. If i ever get hurt in an accident due to "faulty" airbags i (or my family) will not just be writing and calling honda about this. Please let me know. Thank you.

Takata recall. I got into a minor accident where i hit someone from the back with no damage to my or their vehicle however my airbag came out.

I was trying to back into a parking space with my 8 month old, 2012 honda civic.as i took my foot off the gas pedal to put the car into reverse and before i could step on the brake, the car surged forward at a tremendous rate of speed, jumped a curb and went straight into a brick building.the car bounced backwards onto the parking lot and i was able to step on the brake and regain control.this happened in a matter of a split second with no time to jam the brake on as the car lurched forward.even though the car jolted tremendously, the air bag did not go off, but a service light came on the dash board indicating "check airbag system."

Takata recall...updated 9/19/18

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated and remained lit. The contact was concerned that the air bag would deploy. The vehicle was taken to checkered flag honda (6541 e virginia beach blvd, norfolk, va 23502 (757) 490-1111), but was not repaired because the vin was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 86,000.

Takata recall

The passenger seat airbag light doesn't turn off, it stays on. The passenger airbag should be off when no one is sitting there but the light stays on.

I have had several issues with my airbag stating there is an airbag error in my car. I took it to honda and they confirmed that in their computer it shows that there is something wrong with the driver side airbag but they don't know what. They told me in order to check it they would have to take the car apart and i will have to pay $300 up front just to check it. They also stated that it isn't covered in the warranty even though my car has never been in a car accident and it is a major safety issue. I have not been able to get it fixed because i cannot afford for them to even just look at my car. What is the point of having a 6 yr warranty coverage if honda doesn't want to cover anything! over the summer i had a drainage leak that was coming from the electrical fuse in my car, guess what honda did not care!... These days i think a bicycle would be the safest thing... Lol... Suffice it to say life is expensive and i don't think we will be getting a break. Thanks honda for only caring about your sales & money and not caring about your customers safety! lives! families! wives! husbands! & children!

Takata recall: airbags deployed as car was parked in my drive way with a soft touch/contact to a trash bin. Car was not moving at a speed of no more than 3 miles per hour! at the same time the seat belt it locked in an extended position. There most definitely is a defect in this air bag at no explainable manner can this be justified at a reason to have an airbag deploy at less than 5 mile per hour!

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that the air bag warning light activated and deactivated when the front passenger seat was occupied. In addition, while driving downhill at approximately 30 mph, the contact crashed into the rear of the preceding vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The dashboard displayed "air bag system". The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000. .......updated 12/08/15 ... The consumer stated the weigh of the person is about 125lbs and the airbag goes off....updated 05/15/18

The passenger air bag turns off when there is someone in the seat. The passenger is not near the weight minimum, and there is nothing in the back seat pocket that might disturb the sensor. They also are not moving around. I am also not aware of being able to keep the airbag on or manually turning it back on.....updated 01/28/15updated 08/28/2017*ct

While driving on i5 headed south to medford, or on june 6, 2014, at around 9:30 pm i struck what appeared to be a small refrigerator which was laying on the highway.there was what appeared to be minor damage to the bumper of the 2012 honda civic that i was driving.the sensors for the airbag system were triggered, but the air bags did not deploy.upon taking the vehicle to the honda dealership to get repairs, we learned that the harness for the air bag system had been severed.

Every so often the airbag messege on my car come sup. It says that the passenger airback is not working or disabled. Some days these is prompted on my cars dash boards. On same days it does not show up

Takata recall bought this car brand new feb 16th 2012 from day bought up to march 23 2012 the passenger airbag light was on. On 3-23-2012 i had to slam on my brakes the light then went out. Reported to honda they did nothing. My 31 yr old daughter is 5ft 2in in height & weights 105 all suitable requirements for being in front seat. Every time she is in my car the airbag light goes on & off while she is sitting still & in what is considered a safe position . Also reported it to honda with no concern from them. From day one i felt the airbag had a problem. I have also had things in front seat that should have turned off airbag, but the airbag will turn on & off it should be off. I can be driving in the city or on the highway when the light goes on & off. I at this time haven't received a recall, but learned honda is being suited for faulty airbags. Thank you [xxx]. I really love my civic.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

The side curtain airbag on the passenger deployed when the car slightly grazed a snowbank. There wasn't an "impact" between the car and the snowbank.the car speed was less than 10 mph turning a corner on a residential street.there was absolutely no damage at all to the car. Not a nick or a scratch.the dirt didn't even move on the car.there was no reason for the airbag to deploy.

I have a 2012 honda civic and i take very good care of it. I just noticed that my steering wheel has a crack in the middle of it where the airbag comes out of. My vehicle has never been in an accident so for this to start cracking out of no where is very unsafe. I've gone to honda to get it fixed and they don't want to help me because it's "not a big deal". My safety and my passengers safety is a big deal to me so i need help getting this issue fixed by honda.

At approximately 7:45 a.m. I arrived at work and turned left into parking space to park.i was driving a 2012 honda civic, which was less than one month old.the car lunged forward when i took my foot off of the accelerator, jumped the parking bumper and struck a concrete wall.the driver's air bag deployed and the front bumper was scraped and knocked out of place.american honda has inspected the car and claims that nothing is wrong with it but refuses to release its report to me.

Takata air bag recall~ among other possible safety recalls. I purchased this vehicle 9/07/2015 as used from lindsay honda, columbus, oh.. Need to know if there are any safety recalls pertaining to this vehicle.very concerned..thank you.. [xxx]'information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

From the time i purchased the vehicle it's been showing the air bag light and the dealer stayed it's the sensors behind the seat that are defective. They replaced the sensors and continued happening didn't worry about it because car always passed state inspection. I went back to the dealer and the dealer stated it's the same problem and it's out of warranty.

Every since i got this car (about 3 or 4 years ago) driving the car anytime if i even just placed my purse on the seat i would get multiple air bag warnings that my passenger air bag would be turned off. If anyone would sit on the seat it would give me even more warnings and turn off the air bags.when i would go get it checked everyone would tell me there was nothing they could do since they saw no warning since it would disappear once no one was in my passenger seat. My car now constantly has the air bag warning sign on

Part # 77970-tr0-a11 sensor, side impafailure after 20,314 miles.this failure was not the result of any accident.cost to replace was$251.82ii feel honda motor co should reimburse

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the contact drove over a pot hole then the passenger side curtain air bag deployed. There were no injuries. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and looked for body damage to the vehicle. The dealer stated there was no damage to the vehicle but visible damage to the tire. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 15,000.

It was around 30000 miles when the "check airbag system" starts flashing every now and then. Sometimes it tells me the passenger airbag is off. I don't know why and my car never got into any kind of accident nor a crash. It just keeps on blinking fluke every 2 minutes and it's really annoying. This happens every time and it doesn't matter if im moving or not.

I was driving home from work and was making a turn from coming off a stop light and the cars in front of me were stopped to merge onto the highway, i went to press the brake and my foot went to the floor and the brakes never kicked in. I swerved to try and miss the suv in front of me but was not able to miss the suv and rear ended him. I got out of the car and did not notice any ice or any fluid on the road that would cause me to loose traction. I hit mostly on the passenger side which saved the air bags from going off, had i hit front on i am positive the air bags would have gone off as upon impact the screens on the inside of the car turned red and read "check airbags" and then my car shut off and hazard lights turned on. This accident happened 2/1 and am waiting to get an estimate from my insurance company as to the total damage amount if my car will be totaled out or not.

Takata recall my passenger side airbag light is on

Upon impact the airbag deployed and i had 3 rib fractures and a fractured sternum.i am currently having bursar knee pain.i was taken by ambulance to an emergency room and was later sent to a trauma center er.i had one overnight hospitalization.

Takata recalllight came on and bells were making a noise.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that the son was driving approximately 35 mph before crashing into the rear of a second vehicle. During the crash the air bags did not deploy, the message "check air bag" had displayed and the seat belt buckle had unlatched causing the driver to contact the steering wheel. The driver sustained injuries to both knees. A police report taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failures were not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 100,000. The vin wasnot available.

Since i have owned the car, the passenger side airbag off warning has happened on an irregular basis. When my girlfriend sits in the passenger seat (she weighs 110 lbs), the passenger airbags will turn off and we receive a warning and after a few seconds or minutes the warning disappears. This will happen sometimes up to 2 dozentimes in an hour trip - other times we can go a few weeks with no warning and the passenger side airbag remaining on. We have taken it to the dealer numerous times and have been told the system is operating normally - even though in my owners manual tells me to take the vehicle to the dealer if the warning occurs and the person in the seat weighs more than 29kgs. The dealer says this problem is common with "small" people (note: when i sit in the seat at 165lbs- no warnings) and suggested that my girlfriend ride in the back seat. My concern is the side airbag will be off when needed and the randomness of the problem indicates a fault in the system - we have tried to determine if there is pattern to the warning such is she sitting in the center of the seat is she moving/not moving etc. With no help. Honda of america states that there is no problem as per corporate headquarters - i disagree and now i am down to seeking arbitration through the bbb where honda will win based on my past experience with bbb.

My daughter has a 2012 honda civic. It has not been in a crash, but the drivers air bag is splitting open just below the h in the cover on the steering wheel. I have been in the automotive industry for over 37 years. I repaired them and have worked for an insurance company for the last 30 years. I have never seen this happen before, but i do know that the split is where the air bag would open if there was a deployment.she did buy the car used from another local dealer, but there is no indication of this car being in a crash w/ air bag deployment.it started out small and has grown in size now. You can actually see the air bag. She did take the car back to the dealer where she gets it service and they called and told her that it has been cut and will not take care of it. My daughter is 105 lbs and no way is she going to force this to split like thisshe would not do anything to damage this car which is what they are indicating. She just bought it this year as her 2001 cavalier was having too many problems.this was her first almost new car. This a serious safety issue and honda should take care of this under warranty but right now they have declined to take care of itthank you for any help you can give us.

"check airbag system" - passenger airbag inflator inside the passenger seat is no longer working, disabling the airbag system

Passenger airbag off light come on and off. It stayed on for a couple of miles and then shut off again. This is not the first time this happened. I don't even know how to turn off my airbag to begin with. Of course i want passenger airbag is always on.

The vehicle display a message stating, "passenger side airbags off" both at rest and in motion. The message appears and remains on for a few seconds and then disappears. The honda service team is unable to identify a failure as they feel it is working as designed. If a person moves while seated in the passenger seat, this message appears. Per a honda representative, this is a user error as they expect a person will sit entirely still for the whole ride. Any movement can cause that message to appear.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact observed that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the computer module needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired. The contact mentioned that the air bag warning indicator illuminated again after the repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again where it was diagnosed that the entire air bag system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they needed 24 hours to review and would contact the consumer back. The failure mileage was 25,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated when the front passenger seat was occupied. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

On saturday january 10 2015 i was driving i was coming to a intersection when the stop light change i press on my brakes and my car did not stop even after i was pumping it.it did nothing my steering became locked the only recourse i had was to pull the emergency brakes to prevent my car from hitting anyone. I ending up in the middle of the intersection. Even after i was able to stop and move my car away the brakes and steering did not work. This is now preventing me from driving since i don't know if and when it might happen again. Also i have notice any one that is sitting in the passenger seat and is seat belted the sensor is not able to recognized that itgiving alert that the person need to put on the seat belt this is a safety concern that honda refuse to acknowledge.....updated 01/23/15

On saturday june 27 at approximately 1pm i heard a bubbling sound from the passenger side of the dash. Once the sound ended my passenger air bag warning light came on message not activated.the air bag did not deploy.

My 2012 honda civic is having problems withe the airgags. The lights are coming out saying that theirs a problem with the airbags. I haven't seen any recall for airbags but i wana know whats the next step to do.

Srs trouble light comes on and goes off randomly.

Air bag lights coming on and going off saying side air bags off?

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that when driving at any speed, if the front passenger moved their weight to the right side of the seat, the passenger side air bag warning light would illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician advised that there were no failures indicated on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 150.

I came upon stop and go traffic and came to my stop behind the car in front of me. The driver behind me failed to stop and hit the rear of my car. My brake pedal went all the way to the floor as all the electrical parts turned off and on. This included my motor, gauges, and radio. This pushed me into the driver in front of me. I was shocked to see my airbag didn't deploy and that my cars i-mid display showed to check my airbag system. Also my seatbelt didn't lock up fast enough to keep my head from hitting my steering wheel. This caused me to have a strain in my upper lumbar of the right side of my back. Updated 11/24/2014

I purchased a new 2012 honda civic lx on may 2012.until nov 2014, i had driven the car without a passenger.mid november, i tried to take the car on an out of town trip to add mileage; i was the passenger......updated 12/29/15a few miles into the trip, the "passenger side airbag off" indicator like started going on and off.this happened several times. The light kept going on and off; we aborted the trip in this car; airbags are an integral part of the safety system. Car was serviced at the honda dealer on nov 18; they found nothing wrong; i took the car home.i again tried to ride the passenger seat - the light went off multiple times (10 or more); once again the car was serviced by honda on jan 7, 2015.again, i was told the car was "safe" and that i must be too light/petite for the airbag, so the passenger airbag off light was going on and off. Mileage was now 4,307 miles and car less than 3 years old. Per the invoice "the system operates as designed at this time.system disables side air bag for customer safety". I expressed my concern to the honda service rep.the civic manual says the system operates with person "65 pounds" and up (i weigh 115 lbs). I am now expected to drive a car that i cannot use as a passenger - and get this - it is for "my protection" that the airbag is turned off. I reported the situation to honda corp on feb 4 and opened a case.as i write, i am scheduled to take the car with a technician's 2/12 to see if tech can diagnose the problem.issue is that the incidents are random and a test drive may not diagnose the problem.i have searched "car complaints and honda sites" and found many other similar incidents.i purchased this car for safety and in good faith ; honda was paid a fair price.honda needs to deliver a car that works as advertised!!!

Whenever the passenger in the front seat moves a little bit, the air bag is turned off. And i get a big notice saying the passenger air bag is turned off. This is a big problem and is very scary in most situations. I would need this to be fixed as soon as possible please.

Takata recall:i brought my 2012 honda civic lx into today 6/9/2016 in regal honda in lakeland, florida to have the airbag passenger seat sensors replaced, the parts replaced were: pad, r, f, 81127, opds unit 81334 and c-clip se 90600.plus a couple of weeks ago i had the diagnostic performed for $49.95.the symptom was the airbag sensor was being displayed.

Takata recall - my passenger airbag always turns off and gives me an error of the passenger air bag "off" indicator... Whether an adult or teen over 65 lbs is sitting in the front passenger seat.this is dangerous and i didn't have money to check this issue out with honda. They always do something crazy to my car and break something.afraid i'll have to pay more money to get something checked out and i'll have to pay more money.this light goes on several times so i cannot give a specific date.i remember it occurring on thanksgiving day 2017 and it's occurred in december 2017.

I just noticed that everytime i have a lightweight passenger let us say 120 lbs and below, sitting on the passenger's seat on my right a warning would appear on the console that says "air bag passenger" what is that mean? it makes me worried. Does that warning suppose to appear there? please advise.thank you.

Purchased vehicle pre-owned with 12k miles.since purchase, the front passenger seat airbag sensor illuminates and de-luminates when someone is sitting (riding) there (over 100 lbs).to date, there are no recalls.i called honda cust svc today.honda svc said to take vehicle to dealer for inspection and if not happy with them, go to another honda dealer, ie, second opinion.honda does not accept the fact there is a problem with the sensor for the airbag.if anyone else has this problem please write a letter to whomever you think may be able to help so that honda will repair the sensor before someone is injured due to this sensor not working properly.

Driving on a rural highway and hit a deer. Impact bent the bracket that holds the airbag sensor completely backwards and into the sensor itself, which cracked. Airbag never deployed. Now, post repair, airbag warning and light are on constantly.

While the vehicle was in motion on a highway in a rural area, the vehicle was involved in a collision sustaining front impact causing substantial damage resulting in a total loss of the vehicle. However, with such impact to the front end, the air bags failed to deploy as they should have or are intended to.

Right side passenger door airbag keeps turning on when touched or when leaned on it

"takata recall"i was driving honda civic 2012 on a frontage road with my wife sitting on the front passenger seat . Unfortunately, other car crashed in my honda civic 2012 and driver, passenger side air begs got deployed. Surprisingly, i got injury marks on my hand from the air bag. I suspect most likely there was some fault in my air bags which resulted in injury marks on my hand. I do see that 2012 honda civic cars are not part of takata recall but i suspect some of 2012 honda civic cars including mine could have faulty air bags installed from the manufacturer. Please take needful actions.

Check airbag system light comes on

La luz de :check the air bag system,se esta encendiendo cuando el carro se prende y no se apaga.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While driving, the air bag warning indicator illuminated, which was a safety concern. The vehicle was taken to honda cars of aiken (550 jefferson davis hwy, warrenville, sc 29851, (803) 663-3636) where it was diagnosed that the driver side frontal air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

Since the first week i bought my honda dash screen read that "passanger airbag is off". I notified the workers at the honda service department several times when i would get it serviced. They stated that it wasn't anything to be concerned about, sometimes that happens. It doesn't show up all the time but every now and then it'll pop up. I hope i won't ever have to find out if it is properly working in a car incident but it is a concern of mine if it were to happen that the airbag would not work. When it does occur it occurs when i'm driving.

Passenger airbag never detects when my son or another preteen close to his age is sitting in the seat. It always turns off/ deactivates. If there was an accident the airbag would not deploy and provide safety for my child or his cousins when inside my vehicle.

I purchased my 2012hondacivic on may 14, 2011 from a dealership. It only had 18 miles on it, so naturally i thought this car would last me some years before it needed any kind of repairs. I wish that was true. Well, on march 22, 2014 i was taking a friend home and noticed that my horn/airbag area felt weird. I pulled over to look at it and sure enough there was a crack/slit right where the srs airbag writing is located. So i called the dealership and they said since i have more than 36,000 miles on it and don't have an extended warranty on it i would have to pay $683.00 for the part and another $280.00 something for labor. I said how can you possibly asking me to pay for something that is obviously a defect? why would it crack or split and i was not in any kind of accident? i don't feel that i should pay for it. I only have had this car for almost 3 years and this happened... Say i fix it for roughly $1000.00, in another 3 years i would probably have to fix it again. This doesn't make any sense to me. Well, the technician suggest you fix it because it's dangerous. Wow, really??? i really feel like this car was a bad buy since day one and i truly believe the horn/airbag is a defect. I hope that you look into this matter and help me and others out, so that we don't have to fight with the dealerships for something we didn't have any control over!thank you

Check air bag system warning message pops up while car is traveling down the road a short short distance.the car has never been in an accident.

My son used the car and had a fender bender since then the air bag warning comes on and the bag did not deploy, quite a nuisance to have to deal with every time i start the car.i understand many others are experiencing similar problems and no recall or satisfaction from honda.

This is regarding ahonda civic 2012.my passenger airbagturns off aboutevery 15 minutes, for about 3 minutes at a time.i took it to a honda dealership.they had the car for about 7 hours and stated nothing was wrong with the car.i feel this is very dangerous.

I was in a stop and go traffic the van in front made a sudden stop i slammed on my brake but hit the van. Impact was big no major damage but seat belt was locked and i can smell near air bag i have check air bag system sign on but air bag did not deploy

Received recall notice, and it says the manufacturer is not able to perform the fix in a timely manner, it says to avoid passengers in my vehicle. I am requesting information on what to do, because it is imperative for my job to have passengers in my car. No incident has taken place involving a malfunction, but i wish to resolve or know my options and limitations more thoroughly regarding this issue.

Vehicle check air bag system light keeps coming on and i am afraid it would not deploy in the event of an accident.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that the center section of the steering wheel developed a crack. The contact was concerned that it could possibly affect the operation of the air bag during deployment. The local dealer was not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 69,000.

Passenger side air bag turns off giving large trouble lights on dash happens weekly

When the vehicle was in motion, the car slid a bit. The vehicle passenger rear tire hit the side of the sidewalk, causing the airbag to pop.

Was driving on freeway in heavy traffic, car in front braked, hit brakes and they just went to the floor with no effort to stop the vehicle. Slammed into car in front with our 4 and 5 year old boys in back seat. Geico calledthe car a total loss. Honda refuses to inspect the car in fear of manufacturer defects. To make it worse the airbags didn't deploy. Roads were dry, no ice or anything else to cause inability to stop.

There is a hole in rear passenger side air bag. Brought this up to honda and they don't seem to think it's an issue i don't think i wanna find out if it will be an issue this hole was not there before and it just happened thru no fault of our own. Honda telling me to fix it on my own

Most of times the passenger in the front seat moves a little bit, the air bag is turned off. And i get a big notice saying the passenger air bag is turned off. This is a big problem and is very scary in most situations of failure of safety . I called several times&talk to service writer they just told me that my air bag system is normal nothing wrong with it . But 1 thing that i know if i got in auto accident and air bag system is not worked some one will haveproblems . I need help to let honda manufacturer to aware this passenger side air bag go off even some 1 is sitting on the passenger side .

The contact called on behalf of her mom who owned a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle was involved in a chain reaction accident. The contact stated that the the driver and passenger frontal air bags failed to deploy. Additionally, the seat belts for the driver, passenger, and rear seat passenger failed to operate as intended. The driver and front seat passengers sustained injuries to the head, chest, back, and shoulders while the rear seat passenger sustained abrasions to the face from the back panel of the front passenger's seat. Medical attention was sought by each vehicle occupant. A fourth passenger in the vehicle was not injured. The contact stated that approximately four other passengers from the other vehicles involved in the crash also sustained injuries and medical attention was also sought. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow and recovery facility. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted or notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000. The vehicle was destroyed.

The sensor that controls the speed of the airbag in the passenger seat, based on the passenger weight, is malfunctioning.i took it to the dealer and was told that the defective part that needs replacing is not on any recall list.

The driver air bag deployed hitting me in the face.it fractured my orbital bone, put a hole in my eyelid, and forced my cataract lens to rupture falling back into the vitreous towards my retina.i needed immediate eye surgery.i also needed stitches in my forehead and hand.i also had a possible concussion.i have since had 2 more eye surgeries.i lost my peripheral vision and overall vision is blurry.my eye is lower and sunken back in the socket because of the fracture.i still face another surgery to correct my appearance....updated 07/15/14updated 08/23/2017*ct

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While driving 20 mph, the check engine and air bag warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to gwinnett place honda (3325 satellite blvd, duluth, ga 30096, (678) 274-6206) where it was diagnosed that the transmission sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 151,312.

Srs airbag light is on...warning light on the screen keeps flashing.

The passenger side airbag sign keeps coming out to tell the driver the airbag is disabled sometimes when there is a person who sits on the passenger side of the vehicle. Also received a recall of months ago but the dealer keeps saying everything is fine no recall on the list. It happened since the day i purchased in 2012 and it happens very often recently.

I was pulling into a parking lot when another driver pulled out and t-boned my 2012 honda civic. The car was hit on the driver side right in the middle where the front driver and back passenger door meet, none of the side curtain airbags deployed. The car now has extensive frame damage... The lumbar support in this car is the absolute worst!! the car also gets terrible gas mileage.

I am very concerned about the takata air bag situation. I question the safety of my car. Fortunately i haven't had an incident or accident however i am concerned that takata and honda have not been forthright & transparent in re: identifying models that are at risk of faulty air bags. I have contacted honda san francisco where i purchased my car as well as honda america. Because my vin indicates no recall, neither honda san francisco or honda america will address my concern. I've asked honda san francisco to check my car for confirmation that my air bags are takata and if so, for a safety check and/or to disconnect my air bag. They refused to do the safety check or disconnect because they said that my car was not part of the current recall. I ask, what does it take to get this addressed? an accident or death? i would like further action to ensure the safety of all cars with takata air bags. I welcome recommendations for further action.

2012 honda civic. Consumer writes in regards to defective vehicle and clunking noise coming from gear shift.*tgwthe consumer stated the windshield wipers would leave lines and smears on the windshield. The wipers were replaced four times.there was a buzzing noise coming from the heater, the passenger air bag light illuminated and stayed on for an hour. The dimmer lights didn't change from high to low, the seat belts did not release when she moved forward, instead it locked up and there was a smell of carbon monoxide coming through the vents. The rubber slides in each window did not work correctly, because of the moisture on the windows.

My car was working just fine. One morning i went outside to start my car, next thing i know it wouldn't turn over. My dashboard worked, but the car wouldn't start. My car was parked overnight. I called my roadside assistance and they came out and gave me a jump. As soon as the car was turned off it would not cut back on. He jumped it again and told me that my alternator and battery were both bad, and that my car would not start back up on its on. Sure enough it did not. My car has been down for almost a week now. I purchased it may 2012, and i have never had any problems with it until now. I looked online and i saw that there were several other people that were having the same problem.

The vehicle stop working because the mpi is bad, there is a service bulletin that cover the warranty

The best way to describe the car is it acts like it is possessed. For further explanation, the car (when parked) will all of a sudden have all instrument panel lights flash like crazy.this happens when turning on the ignition and then if you take the key out of the ignition it will continue and eventually stop.once it stops the battery is then dead. The car then needs to be jumped and will run fine for awhile until it happens again.car is driven daily and this has only happened 4 times.as such, the dealer has never been able to find out the issue since when we take it in the car is fine.this has us very concerned with kids and ourselves, as this could occur at anytime, anywhere.this is the 2 door coupe that they should start selling with a set of free jumper cables as an accessory.

On the first occasion, upon turning the key to start the engine there was no ignition. I turned the key off and tried it again and the engine started so i thought it just my imagination playing tricks on me. About six months later, this occurred again and it took numerous turns of the key to start the car. Honda inspected the car and reported nothing wrong. On the next occasion, i left the car with honda for a week. The relatively new loaner car (honda crosstour) gave me the same problem one day while my car was being inspected. I presented video to the service manager when i picked my car up and received the same dumbfounded look i had been getting all along from the service reps at cary, nc autopark honda. Upon picking my car up, i was told they had found a techline reference concerning occasional starter issues with some of the newer hondas. They would not provide a copy upon my request, but they did change out the starter. When i contacted american honda, my request to get this change of starter and the issue in writing for potential problems in the future, the request was denied and i was told all my files are saved by honda and that if any needs were to arise in the future, they would evaluate coverage for the repair.on a separate occasion (battery wouldn't charge properly), i was told (after the update) that the charging frequency software had to be updated and that it would only cost me $60. I was quite irritated with honda trying to make me pay for the sub-par software engineering at the manufacturing level and refused to pay a dime. It is a shame honda seems to be content with sinking to the depths of other car manufacturers, and i will be looking at other makes next time as honda is no longer the company i had believed it was. It is a real shame when loyal customers are treated like they are not needed for the continued success of honda. Oh well!

The car randomly displays a check emissions system and check transmission systems error on the dashboard while driving.the check engine light comes on and the "d" indicator on the display flashes.when the check transmission systems error displays the car does not shift as it should.i took it to my mechanic and he couldn't find anything wrong with the engine or transmission, and no error codes came up on his computer.i called the dealership and they said a software update is needed.i am concerned about wear and tear on the engine and/or transmission due to these issues.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While driving 40 mph, the power steering, vsa, and esc indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (barber honda parts, located at 4500 wible rd, bakersfield, california, 93313) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle stability assist modulator failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.

When you buy a new car you don't expect to have any problems, well that wasn't the case with me. 1. Water was leaking in the moon roof all the rubber had to be replaced 2. So much rust because of leak3. Heating system had to be replaced when you turned it on would make such a loud noise it was unbelievable. Dealership said needed a part spent almost a day and then said need another part ,, cant believe a new car needs new parts. 4. Tire sensor light kept coming on .5.keys would not come out of the egnition .6. Right side of the window would rattlebetween the dashboard and window, top of visor..7.needed new battery8. Filed a complaint with the better business bureau.9 spent more time going back and forth to dealership which i should have not had to do this. 10. Told the dealership car makes a thumbing noise when you go over a bump.was told a defective rightrear shock causing the thumbing noise .11. Had to replace light bulb on right side.12.should not , had any of these problems with a new car...

While i was driving my car 40mph something happened and suddenly power steering went off along with a message. It is so difficult to steer. And the dealer stated that there is nothing wrong. It's still at the dealer. However problem keeps going on. I think it has to be recalled, too.

Car would not be able to start without a jump for months. Got 2 new batteries. 3 new alternators. Kept happening. Now i must keep headlights on at all times, even in the brightest daylight, or else battery will begin to lose charge again.

When i go out to start my vehicle it will not turn over. I have had the battery tested, alternator, harness but have been assured that these test out positive. I went online and read that a lot of people with 2012 honda civics are having the same experience and go through the same process as i with no relief. Some describe situations that are more frightening than mine such as driving along and all the panel lights come on and then die and the car quits.

Was driving on interstate 70 in richmond indiana was traveling in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway when all of a sudden my lights on my dash off licked on and off and i lost all electrical power including brakes steering and the engine i was able to force the vehicle and coast to a stop at an exit i turned on my hazards and my hazards were not working either so it was a complete electrical failure. In addition it was late in the evening so while i was driving and i lost all lights nobody could see me and i could not see anything this could've ended very tragically for me trying to move over as the speed limit posted in the area is 70 mph. In researching the issue i found multiple forums and posts regarding this same type of failure.honda needs to fix this.now i need to tow to a service center and see how much more money i will need to come up with to be able to drive my vehicle

I have had to take my car in for two repairs related to rodents chewing throughelectrical wiring. One was for chewing through fuel harness and fuel pump wires resulting in repairs that cost $915 and occurred on 9/5/2018. I was driving on a major road when multiple warning lights illuminated. I made it home then took it to the dealership. The second incident was from chewing through gas line and ima inverter that cost $1701 and occurred on 3/15/19. I was driving on a city street when multiple warning lights illuminated (check engine, brake malfunction, ima battery, charging malfunction). I drove home and decided to take it to the honda dealership. When i went to take it to honda, the lights were no longer illuminated. I drove about 2 miles and got onto a major highway when i started to smell a strong odor and the lights illuminated again. I got off on the next exit when i lost power steering and the car would not accelerate. I began to pull over but then regained the ability to accelerate and luckily made it home. Fuel was pouring from under the car so i had it towed to the dealership. They determined i needed a new fuel line, new ima system as well as junction box. My car was in the shop for almost two months, during which i had to pay for a rental car. The honda dealership told me it is common for chewing through wiring of this specific year and model honda because the material wrappingaround the wires was made from a soybean product, which rodents are attracted to.

Turned key to start and nothing happened; some warning lights went off, but no sound from starter, solenoid or other engine parts. Released key and turned key to start again; on second try, engine started properly. Sometimes, i may turn the key twice with nothing happening and engine starts on third try. Happens intermittently; can happen when engine is cold or hot.

The odometer (mile counter), the miles per galn counter ceased working. Looks like a software failure.

My wife and i have a 2012 honda civic which seriously is a nightmare in repairs a lot of maintenance issues involving electrical as well as the car lacking power and the car needing to replace electrical harness due to the wires bing wrapped in some kind of sweet texture that rodents seemed to enjoy to much. Furthermore with the amount of problems we had with his car at 66100 miles i would much rather go back to my 95 honda civic 92 honda civic or 93 honda civic del sol any other day than this jung what kind of car needs an update for its diagnostics to work seriously. What is it iron man needing a charge this car is junk the battery don't last that long and furthermore when they decide to recall this battery what is vehicle you can gladly take your jalopy back... Don't buy a honda unless you want to wish to buy new like we did and throw thousands and thousands of dollars into your vehicle to have it run like junk. Toyota camry or corolla here i come... Because this vehicle resale value sucks and so does everything else about the vehicle the gas mileage is not at all what you should claim it to be especially for ecoboost motor so yeah sad thing is my family has bought three hondas and this is the last time they see any of our retirement this car is seriously junk you can gladly take my back even if you don't recall it all rights can send it back to you in confetti us army ranger....

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that the check charging system warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who stated that the charging system was operational however, the system needed to be updated or reprogrammed. The contact contacted metro honda (9399 autoplex st, montclair, ca 91763, (909) 542-9637) who informed the contact that the failure was related to manufacturer communication number: 12/041 however, the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed vehicle was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Battery will not charge, alternator and battery issues. Does not want to charge the battery most of the times. This ecco mode and charging system, must be the issue. I am a mechanical engineer, licensed.

On several occasions upon turning the key to start the engine there is no ignition.i turn the key off and try it again and the second time the engine starts.

Honda civic hybrid 2012 bought just after six days failed after doing a left turn.all warning lights lit from the dashboard.restarted and was able to drive home but failed to start next day.towed to the nearest honda dealer.service guy after calling honda headquarters determine it was the abs system that caused the failure.still in the shop for repairs.

My elderly mother has had multiple issues with the electrical system on her 2012 honda civic 4-door lx sedan. She keeps getting the 'check charging system' warning lamp on dash. In the past few months two new start batteries have had to be replaced, and a check of the alternator charging system last time indicated the alternator was good. Here's the underlying issue...the cabling from battery to multiple locations throughout the vehicle has been non-stopped chewed on by rodents! has honda produced these model cars with some sort of electrical cable insulation material that rodents are attracted too? honda should replace any and or all damaged electrical cables! this is terrible what my mom is going through and the dealer (waldorf maryland honda) just wants to stall and try to 'patch' up some of the chewed cables, all while doing a horrific job with some sort of electrical tape!!!! come on now honda is this how you treat customers???? elderly customers that don't know anything about cars? shame on you!

At 70,000 miles my "vsa alert" and "check steering alert" has been flashing on my dashboard. Honda service "claims they never saw such a complaint" but last week honda motor corporation issued a recall to fix this issue on 130,000 honda vehicles for this same problem. The fix could run over $2,000.00 . This alert flashes and beeps, annoyingly, while auto is stationary and moving, it flashes constantly now for the last 7,000.

I was driving a 2012 honda civic when the car in front of me slammed on their brakes and came to a complete stop due to something in the road. I slammed on my brakes and tried to avoid the car in front of me by swerving to the right. The driver side of the front of my car hit the back of the car in front of me. My car was completely smashed in the front. Air bags did not deploy. After i came to a complete stop, my car lit on fire. The car was burned and completely destroyed.

On 12/24/13 i rented a car from hertz and returned on 12/30/13. During that entire time period the car had no working taillights and partially functional dashboard and console lights. The car was unsafe not only for me and my wife but any other driver on the roads at the time. The car was illegal to operate in pennsylvania, ohio and indiana and i was pulled over three times by various police departments. I contacted hertz and their response was to have me drive it to the indianapolis airport. I suggested to the hertz representative that this wasn't acceptable because the car''s condition makes it illegal and unsafe to drive. Ultimately, we were left with a car that was unsafe and illegal which we reluctantly drove to the indianapolis airport at the time of our departure. Upon my return to phoenix i've attempted, as instructed by hertz, to contact their location in the pittsburgh to seek a refund. After 16 phone calls to that number i've either been cut off by the phone system because the voicemail is full, selected options that lead nowhere, or redirected to employees in other cities who tell me to call the location in the pittsburgh. The strategy appears to be one of continual delay in hopes that customers with legitimate complaints ultimately give up. The contractual obligation with hertz ensures i'll be provided with a safe and legal vehicle and clearly this was not the case. Hertz has made no attempt to responded to my request and the issue remains unresolved. I hope this letter will prompt the dot and nhtsa to question hertz''s vehicle inspection and safety protocols, to ensure they have practices in place to protect the consumer and to quickly and fairly resolve any issues. My intent is that this letter helps future consumers avoid situations similar to the one i've experienced and to make certain they're driving safe, legal and reliable vehicles.

Please look into this as i did a web search and there are numerous, numerous complaints for the same issue. My concern is my wife drives alone and she has had to be jump started by strangers several times.here is the issue, which again is all over the internet. The car battery will die for no apparent reason. The answer has been to get a new battery.however, it only solves the problem for a short while.

The display which shows odometer, mpg, etc flashes on and off.when low on gas, the display continually beeps and advises you are low on gas, instead of one time when you start the vehicle.replaced once under warranty, now broken again, part # 78260-tr2-a11rm

The tpms system fails despite the fact the all the tires are properly inflated.this illuminates 2 warning lights plus activate the information center display.two of the sensors have been replaced by the dealer under warranty but the problem keep occurring.

Three different time, the car was parked overnight and would not start the next morning. It had to be towed. I was told that rodents had chewed through the soy based wiring insulation in multiple areas, including the fuel tank pressure sensor, the fuel hose. The mechanic could not offer me any concrete solution to prevent this from happening again and i fear a problem might occur while i am actually driving.

While car was parked and idling, i noticed flames coming from backseat ceiling light.plastic and flames dripped onto the upholstery catching it on fire as well as the ceiling area.i was able to extinguish the flames with a snow brush.i immediately called the honda dealership in town and am waiting for a tow truck to take it to the dealership so they can diagnose the issue.

Car randomly does not start.it will go a week or two, then when i try to start it, it needs to be jumped.battery and alternator tested good.car sat for several days covered in snow and then started without hesitation, but on a 70 degree day, i pull over to get gas and then have to jump it. Happens every week or two.honda did a software update a few months ago, and now it happens more often.

We were driving down the highway when the power steering light came on. It took two of us to turn the wheel to make a right or left turn. We were both afraid for our lives! we did not know if we were going to make it home but we did. I am petrified to drive this car again! i have to use the car because i live so far away from stores to shop etc. Please help me soon so i can use the car again!!!

Thanks honda for only caring about your sales & money and not caring about your customers safety! lives! families! wives! husbands! & children!

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While the contact's daughter was driving 50 mph, the steering wheel seized and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a power steering and electrical failure. The contact was informed that the power steering column needed replacement. The contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired due to cost and believed there should be a recall. The honda manufacturer and local dealer (millennium honda, 286 n franklin st, hempstead, ny 11550, (516) 481-2800) were contacted and informed the contact of no open recalls. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Three times over one year, the car battery has died and the car will not start.often this has been after the car has not been driven for two days.numerous complaints have appeared online of the same problem.honda service has simply refused to do a diagnostic beyond offering a new battery.

The car stalled in traffic due to rodent damaged wires and would not restart.the damaged wires were hidden, out of sight, in the engine compartment, under the air filter housing.the damage seemed to be where the wires were exposed near a connector (not covered by black plastic protective sheath).the engine room wiring harness p/n# 32200-tr0-a00 was replaced by honda to fix the problem.my vehicle speed is just a best guess as i was riding the brake pedal in traffic and noticed that my dash was lit up with error codes and the engine went silent.i am posting this here because the internet is full of rodent damaged wire cases and some people are saying that the cause is the material being used in today's automobile wire insulation.there are comments that soy and plant based, environmentally friendly materials are being used instead of petroleum based plastics, which might attract rodents (or maybe just easier to chew through?).car manufacturers should be held accountable if they have switched to something that attracts rodents or is much easier to damage by rodents.car manufacturers should design rodent proof wiring and not leave wires exposed and unprotected near connectors.if rodent damage causes a car to stall at the wrong time or loses an important electrical system component, such as lights at night, or electric steering, it could be very dangerous.many other car components were replaced prior to honda finding the actual cause of my car's problem.people should be aware that rodent damage is covered by your auto insurance, "comprehensive" coverage, which most people think of as collision and "comp.", but is subject to your comp's deductible.rodent damaged wires can be very expensive to repair if they have to replace an entire wiring harness instead of just splicing some damaged wires (in my case was $approx $1,700 total).

While driving through heavy rainfall, all interior lighting went out, media player crackled and stopped playing. A few minutes after pulling over, the car returned to normal. There were no lightening conditions observed at the time of the event.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated the maintenance minder system malfunctioned, preventing her from seeing any warnings on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the software needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since they did not have an available remedy for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was unknown.

While i was diving on 1st october night, my dash light was suddenly turned off. In honda civic speedometer is digital, so it was turned off too. So i was driving without checking the speed. Later i took my car to a nearest honda dealer to diagnose the problem but they refused to diagnose. I reported this problem, many times to honda customer service but they didn't take any action so that the dealer can diagnose or fix the problem.regarding this problem,i also wrote a mail to american honda's ceo but got no reply till now.as a result i am driving this car with this problem and my life is at risk.

After filling up for gas, i turn my vehicle on and the instrument panel went crazy with warning lights and audio warnings. I shut the vehicle off, waited a few seconds, and then started the vehicle. This time the vsa and abs warning lights remained on, along with the lcd screen showing a system failure on these two systems. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where it was diagnosed that the vsa modulator module was completely fried. This is very disturbing to me, as the vehicle only had 827 miles on it when the problem occurred, and the module fried while sitting at a gas station (the car was not moving). The dealer is fixing my car under warranty, but the mere fact that this happen on a vehicle with such low mileage and not moving is a concern - not to mention the price of this module (~ $900.00).

Battery drains off after car sets for a few days.will start up normally but the battery looses charge as you drive even though the alternator is putting out charge.after you stop the car and turn it off it will not start again.car stutters at stops due to low battery.risk that the battery can fail and the car can lose power while being driven.

All my knobs are melting.radio, air, etc.also the names are fading on the window and air conditioning.

Last year, in our state we have some snow and when i on my way to work i feel everything shaking starting from the wheel. When i check under the car there was nothing but ice under the car. After snow clears out my steering wheel is not right anymore. It kept pulling to the side while i was driving even at low speed. So i don't know what the problem is.

First time driving this car in light snow.at the top of a hill, i turned left to traverse the hill to take a side street, following my co-workers. The civic slipped - just a bit- and the vsa light lit. I immediately lost all throttle control, brakes were wildly activating (seemingly 1 at a time), and the steering wheel was jerking. I was going very slow when the civic took all control away from me. I could not apply any throttle to pull out of a very minor slip and my car accelerated sideways down the slope into a curb which destroyed the right front wheel and suspension. I have spent $1125 so far to repair the damage and have not replaced the tire & wheel yet (another approx. $600). I told the 2 ford dealers who performed the repairs about this incident and neither gave it any thought. I requested they turn off the vsa system, both refused. I can not think of any reason, in the real world, any car should take complete control away from the driver like this, especially for such a minor occurrence as a slipping wheel. If a semi was behind me, there would have been no way for me to get out of it's way. It was just dumb luck i hit the curb where i did vs. Tobogganing into opposing traffic or picking up even more speed by continuing further down that hill before the car crashed.i have this incident on dash cam. It is at night, and not great, but it does plainly show what happened. Out of all the cars that drove that route, mine was the only one to crash and it was absolutely due to the vsa taking control away from me and not allowing me to drive my car.

When exiting a speed ramp off of the highway the rpm's speed up causing a horrible sound in the engine and the feeling that you may not be able to slow down in time to exit the ramp. Additionally, more than a numerous times the car is very unsteady going over 55mph if itencounters any type of "bump" in the highway upon merging into another lane it is unsteady and the whole car "jerks",(feels like it could rollover easily)you need to have a firm hold on the steering wheel or you could lose control.glare on windshield at night presents a safety concern with night driving. The headrests are a hinder to being able to effectively see your blind spot and the car with its horrible steering control presents another area of concern, you will be in the other lane trying to look over your shoulder more than once!

While i was driving my car 40mph something happened and suddenly power steering went off along with a message. It is so difficult to steer. And the dealer stated that there is nothing wrong. It's still at the dealer. However problem keeps going on. I think it has to be recalled, too.

Since i have had my vehicle i been having problems with my tpms light and honda have failed on fixing it and will not fix it. When i start to go from a stop there is a time delay when i step on the gas pedal and the car sensor receiving information to increase gas. I been in a lot of close calls in being in a vehicle accident, i also have 2 children under the age of 3 with me at all time putting their life in danger as well. Now there is a complete electrical failure.

While driving on hilly city streets during a snow storm, the vehicle stability control and abssystems engaged, followed shortly by warning lights and messages that these systems needed attention. Despite parking the car and turning off the engine, a small motor within the "abs modulator control unit" continued to operate and would notstop until i disconnected the battery. The modulator/control unit had to be replaced with a used unit costing $280, not counting diagnostic and labor charges. (total repair cost: $602.)a new unit would have cost over $1000. The used part came with a "lifetime warrantee." it seems that the original device should have been warranteed beyond the standard 3yr/30,000 mile limit as it is an important safety feature. Despite similar complaints posted on various websites, this problem has not been addressed with a recall.

While going up a hill on my driveway the vsa (vehicle stability assistant) was activated on my 2012 honda civic due to slippage in snow. The vsa modulator got stuck and the vsa, abs and power steering warning lights instantly turned on. Upon turning the car off the vsa modulator remained on producing a low frequency hum/vibration. I had to disconnect the battery terminal last night to turn the modulator off so that it does not drain the battery. This type of failure on critical safety components should not be occurring on a 5 month old car. Luckily the failure occurred at low speed (5 mph). Had this failure occurred on the highway at 65 mph it could have resulted in a major accident.

When the car is parked in a downward slope facing down, and you engage the reverse gear, the car rolls forward.this is especially difficult to control if you are parked in a tight spot and you will roll and hit the car in front of you.we reported this to honda corporation and they said that this is normal behavior.i do not agree, since my other car (different make/model) does not perform the same.

The vehicle seems to burn oil very fast even though it has been maintained properlythroughout the years. I've had to fill up the oil 3 times between oil changes due to this issue and no leaks have been found after a thorough search.

There is a strong smell of exhaust if you stand next to the car while it's idling & parked or stationary. I bought the car in 2014 or 15 and noticed it soon after. I've had it checked for exhaust leaks a few times, but no one has found one. It seems like it could cause problems with emissions, and let fumes into the passenger compartment if a door or window was open long enough.

Climbing up hill the car lost speed and did not shift gears. Then it stalled. I believe this vehicle was recalled and not fixed by the dealership or it should have been recalled by honda and was not. It exhibits the same drive shaft problems as recalled honda civics. While driving you only need to tap the shift by mistake with your elbow and the car goes into neutral. It is a dangerous car to drive.

High oil consumption.

On 3/15/2019 i was driving on a city street when multiple warning lights illuminated (check engine, brake malfunction, ima battery, charging malfunction). The car was towed to the dealership. Once there, they determine that the problem was related to rodents chewing from wires which damaged the fuel line and ima system. After this was repaired, the car still had failure codes due to mechanical issues with the car's system. Troubleshooting led the technician to determine that the motor power inverter needed to be replaced. This required them to also have to replace the junction board. After they were installed, the ima light stayed on, the battery would not charge, and the car continued to recode. They had to put in a test mcm and a second mpi (since the first one malfunctioned as well). This occurred over the course of almost two months. They could not determine a specific cause that led to the system malfunction, so it appeared to be a manufacturing issue. I was charged for the repairs as well as almost two months of rental car fees.

While turning left at a stop light (from a stationary position), the car stalls after 2 or 3 seconds in oncoming traffic.this has happened multiple times.the dealer's service department says they can find no history of such situations in their database and took no action.the problem occurs very frequently, particularly after idling for an extended period at long stop lights.

Sudden acceleration:i have been observing that the vehicle suddenly accelerates while driving downhill or merging on the highway. I have also noticed that it will accelerate when you turn off the cruise control. The speed is uncontrollable for few seconds before the engine starts the deceleration. I have taken a vehicle to the dealer twice and they have assured that this is normal function since check engine light is not on. The vehicle is 1.5 years old and has @15k miles on it.

This has happened more than once. When descending a hill after letting up on gas pedal the vehicle will rev up for a few of seconds and hitting the brakes did not disengage throttle, also when passing another vehicle after pulling in and let up on pedal the car still revved up for a couple of seconds. Have not taken to a dealer yet as i am trying to find exactly how and when this problem occurs so i can get the dealer to reproduce this problem (speed, road conditions, and any other conditions that might cause this problem). As we all know they can never get the problems to reproduce.

We almost got killed trying to turn the wheel to get off the highway. The steering wheel issue was already looked at by my mechanic. He said it was the alternator and replaced that instead. I was charged for the alternator! i took it back after we were almost killed. He fixed the steering issue but now the car doesn't steer right away after the car is turned on! what should i do now? it stays locked and you can only go frontwards and back!! we have to keep going back and forth till it unlocks! what is wrong with the engine of this car? i don't drive far. It only has 81491 miles on it. On the mechanic's bill steering issue electronic steering motor-remove & replace- all applicable models. Did you receive this message? when do i get my money back from honda for their mistakes? i am 68 years old disabled woman who needs help with this bill. Honda should pay the bill for me. I have to live on 954.00 a month live in state housing.please help me!![xxx]cell: [xxx] thank youinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Vehicle frequently stalls when turning left after coming to a stop, very dangerous when oncoming traffic, read numerous other complaints online, honda needs to fix this problem before someone hurt/killed (if not already, and how would we know because of their negligence to fix this problem despite all the complaints?), and no it is not due to "left foot braking"

I wasstopped at a red light. When the light turned green i stepped on the gas and the car went in reverse. I tried again and the car was in drive but went in reverse when i stepped on the gas. I had to turn the engine off and restart it in order to drive forward. This was the second time this had happened. It happened the first time about two months ago.

I bought a fully loaded 2012 honda civic si sedan, with navigation. Car was wonderful first few weeks, then the issues started. When i engaged the clutch into 1st gear, also reverse, when i would level the clutch with the gas pedal, i would hear a high pitch noise. Kind of like a squeal. In all types of conditions. It is worse in the snow, rain, up a hill, and what not. I took it to my local honda dealership, the tech testdrove it with me. He heard the noise, he said that he heard it. He thinks it was something hitting the clutch-plate. He said oh honda is not gong to fix this due to your style of driving i said excuse me? he said well there is no need to have an intake, and an exhaust. By the magnuson-moss warranty act of 1975 it states: if a vehicle is bought new, and you put aftermarket parts on it, just because there are aftermarket parts, it does not void the warranty. If the dealership realizes the issue, and just verbally says they can't fix it due to the parts, without even lifting the car up, that is illegal. They have to find the issue, and say why the aftermarket parts are affecting the clutch. I then called the dealership owners son, he said email me the issues, and the vin. I did, he forwarded it to the customer service manager. When he received the email, there was a corporate honda representative there. He read my email, and said that they need to look at it. The manager called me, said he received the email that i sent the owner, he said they have to re-make the sound again, even tho theyheard it, and put me threw the ringer again. There are also alot of parts inside that need to be replaced. So i have an appointment next tuesday, hopefully for them to see the issues. There are many people on forums for the 12 si, 9th gen, that are complaining also. The honda rep said that it was normal in many clutches to hear a high pitched noise?

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While the vehicle was in the park position, the rpms suddenly increased to approximately 4,000. After turning the vehicle off and restarting the engine, the vehicle continued to idle at approximately 4,000 rpms. After turning the engine off and back on a second time, the vehicle operated normally. The failure occurred on multiple occasions and was intermittent. While driving at highway speeds, the rpms would also erroneously increase. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,500.

The car loses power when going up hills and has stalled twice. If i lightly bump the shift while driving it goes into neutral. I must use the emergency brake when parked even on a flat surface or the car will roll.

First purchase brand new 2012 honda civic in november 2011,ran really great for first six thousand miles.just under ten thousand i notice gas mileage got a lot worse and the check emission light comes on.take it in to shop and they say oh thermostat is bad.well thought strange at time car is new.then at just under 14000 miles gas mileage is bad and engine revs at high rpm'scheck emission light comes on again.this time it was a software update???well then at under 17000 miles check emission light again and this time in shop for three weeks.thermostat again.try calling american honda and i get the sales manager who needs an attitude adjustment, and he says there is nothing wrong with my car.then i am told by the service shop that this in no way has harmed anything and they replace thermo again run some test and still runs hot so they do it again and still runs hot and then honda decides on a different thermostat that hasn't been released yet and install it.well three weeks later i get my car and all i asked for was an extended warranty and they send me one that they want me to sign to release the of any powertrain issues and cooling issues.cooling issues i understand but powertrain really i thought there was nothin wrong with my car???? all this time i am dealing with the rudest american honda company customer service.really upsets someone spend there hard earned money every month on a car payment and its like going to the store and paying for moldy bread.not one time do they think about the consumer.also interesting when picking car up on friday they have another 2012 civic low miles in shop for same issue. I live in a town in wv with 28,000 people and 1 honda dealer coincidence?

Engine is consuming oil, i check my oil every two weeks and have to add oil. Generally 1/2 to 3/4 a quart a month. There is no oil is on the drive way or on the under carriage.

During test drive and multiple times since, engine bogs down or stalls when accelerating in traffic.honda service dept. Checked car and found no apparent problems.car has been returned several times with no satisfaction.service manager said the hesitation was due to a safety feature that disengages the accelerator when touching the brake.several times the car has stalled with no use of brakes.this "safety feature" is a safety hazard.my wife and i have almost been involved in several accidents because car stalls in traffic.this is a definite "safety hazard".

Emissions recall that affects me passing a smog check

I was driving on an exit ramp from a highway, car was coasting, and as i was approaching the stop sign, i applied the brakes softly, the car started slowing down further due to braking and then suddenly came to a brutal stop with tires screeching. Engine was stalled, automatic gear had shifted in neutral by itself, and there was a burning smell in the car. Fortunately there was no car behind me, otherwise it would have not been possible to prevent being rear-ended. The 25 mph speed is approximate as i was decelerating. A similar situation on a highway when traffic slows down could have dramatic consequences, causing a pile-up and possibly multiple deaths and injuries. I will drive the car very carefully to the dealership today. The car was purchased certified pre-owned yesterday.

When i am about to go downhill and take an exit at 40 mph after driving at constant speed of 65 mph for some time i see this problem. Rpm is suddenly spiking up from 1500 to 2500 and stays there for at least 5 seconds. Hit brakes or gas does not bring it down. Good thing is the speed of the vehicle is not going up. That's the good sign but who knows what happens. I thought this was the problem with econ drive but i turned it off about 3 months now and still having the same issue.

I search on the internet that a lot of 2012 civic owners experiencing the same annoying problems like clunking noise on the suspension or under the car, loud noise when shifting to reverse like axle shaft is disengaging, loud noise when putting pressure on the brake, clunking or popping noise when turning left or right, rolling noise on the seat belts, clunking loud noise when accelerating and releasing gas pedal, rattling noise in the morning while warming up the engine and also when accelerating. Atf leaking on the transmission because one of the bolts is not tightened...etc. I think this 2012 honda civic models should be recall by american honda motors. You can check the internet how many people are complaining and dealer said it was normal!!!?????? it is very annoying. I am only concern about my safety and the safety of my family. I hope the us goverment should do something about it. Thank you.

The civic i have is only for 3 month and around 3000 miles.it was a sunny day, the road is dry. I drive like around 50 miles/hr on grand central parkway in ny, suddenly i saw people hit the break in front of me, then i hit the break as soon as i can. I didnt hit the break to the end (just around half) but the tire start to scream.i release the break a little bit and hit it again but the tire still scream and i keep sliding. I slide with my tire locked for more the 5 car distance. The tires keep screaming and i couldnt stop. Then i hit the car in front of me. I have a driving recorder and record everything. Which i upload to youtube. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctu66kpo8ym after the car fixed by the body shop, the car become better. The body shop had change a new abs system and break and reset the computer in the car. Now the break is more sharp then before and the abs work fine. (i test it on a raining day in my driveway) other thing is that the car become more fuel efficient.i try so hard in the beginning but only get 26 gallon per mile. Now it is so easy to go up to 29-30. (it has been used for another 800 mile and i drive it on the same road i go to work) i don't know what is wrong with it and don't want to let it happens on others.

We bought the honda civic in feb 2012. Drove about 1000 miles. One day i feel little hesitation in third gear. I open the hood to just check, and found the water all over the engine compartment and hood liner was wet and soggy. I was surprize and worryed thought cooling system busted or loose hose clamp. But after tharough checkup found that rain water seep thru between front hood lip and grill. I told my wife not to drive the car, it's not safe, because water can damage the electric component and may cause fire.so i dry the engine area as much as i could. Setup the appointment with honda dealer.first of all the service suppervisor did not belive, and then she check couple of other cars same model and year, and found that all the cars are the same design nothing missing. She suggest to call the honda manufacture. I asked for the work order, she said there is no problem so no work order need to fillup. I talk to sale person about all this; he said the same. I was very disappointed. I ask for the service manager; and show him the car and problem; he said the same to call manufacture. But atleast he agreed to write the work order. That consumer complaint this, and we could not find any problem. As per consumer the rain water get in to engine compartment and wet the hood liner and other electric equipment and plugs.

Car shaking at a stop light or a light seem like cars make noise on engine and you can feel in the steering at park vehicle. You can hear the problem any time of the day.

Consumer writes in regards to problems with snap shot device*tgwthe consumer stated when the monitoring device was plugged into the vehicle obd-ii diagnostic port, it was supposed to the send certain information to his insurance company, which would be a 30% discount off his policy. After plugging it in, the device must remain operational for a period of six months. After months of data logging, his insurance company would send a rebate based on his driving habits. The device was supposed to monitor vehicle speed in graph form, the time of day/night the vehicle was operational in graph form and the number of hard brakes per trip and per day. The information was pulled from the vehicles system onboard computers. The consumer stated she had two issues with the device; she stated she drove at the normal posted speed limits and she would brake in a very conservative and safe manner and not slamming on the brakes resulting in a hard brake, which her insurance company defined as greater than 7 mph per second. She stated she has accumulated as much as 13-15 hard brakes per day and some days with zero hard brakes because she drover the vehicle slow as to not have to brake at all, which resulted in the normal flow of traffic, backing up behind her, which was an actual a traffic infraction.

Floor mat broke loose with grommet coming out of floor mat.this caused entrapment of the gas pedal under the floor mat.

Involved in a hit and run accident where the airbag sensors where hit but the airbags did not deploy. All panels of car had to be replaced. We where hit going thru an intersection and the car ran a red light going 65 sideswiped us into a wall and electrical box....updated 09/15/15 updated 11/13/2017

Car would not be able to start without a jump for months. Got 2 new batteries. 3 new alternators. Kept happening. Now i must keep headlights on at all times, even in the brightest daylight, or else battery will begin to lose charge again.

Driving on a rural highway and hit a deer. Impact bent the bracket that holds the airbag sensor completely backwards and into the sensor itself, which cracked. Airbag never deployed. Now, post repair, airbag warning and light are on constantly.

While driving through heavy rainfall, all interior lighting went out, media player crackled and stopped playing. A few minutes after pulling over, the car returned to normal. There were no lightening conditions observed at the time of the event.

I was driving home at night. I had my headlights turned to auto like i always do. As i was driving home it seemed darker than usual. When i pulled up in front of my house, my husband, who i had followed home, told me my daytime running lights were on, not my headlights. He came to my door before i turned off the car. I pointed to the indicator light on the dash to show him that the headlight symbol was on and that my dash was lit. I then got out of my car and saw that the headlights were in fact not on.i turned my headlights to manual and they came on. After this incident i began using the manual setting for headlights until i had time to take my car to the dealer. I also avoided driving at night when possible.about two weeks later, i was driving home at night with my headlights on manual when i noticed that it seemed very dark on the road, though my dash was lit and the indicator light was on. I turned my headlights to auto to see if anything would change and my headlights turned on. I turned back to manual and they turned off and then to auto and they came on again. When i arrived at home, i left the car running and checked my headlights. They were on in the auto mode but changed to my daytime running lights when turned to manual.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that the tighten full cap and the check emission system warning indicators illuminated simultaneously. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure and each time the dealer replaced the fuel tank cover; however, the failure was not corrected. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 37,000. ..updated 05/07/15

When my 2012 civics fuel tank is filled all the way, the gas seems to flush back and forth while stopping or parking on hills. It makes a loud noise and the gas slams into the walls of the fuel tank.this is unsafe because it throws off the balance of the car by having the gas flow in such an abrupt manner. In no way, shape, or form should a 2012 civic have this problem. The last thing a new car owner wants is a loud noise from the fuel tank everytime they brake, stop, or park on hills. The dealership said there was nothing they could do about it and that all the other 2012 civics had the same problem. Honda needs to fix this issue.

The contact owns 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that there was a fuel leak and the vehicle pulled toward the right while driving. The dealer attempted on two occasions to repair the alignment failure, but was unsuccessful. The manufacturer informed the contact that there was a recall, but she would have to pay to have the vehicle repaired. The nhtsa campaign id number was 11v288000 (fuel system, other: delivery: hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The contact planned on taking the vehicle in to an authorized dealer and the manufacturer would be notified. The failure mileage was 6,000.

2012 honda civic. Consumer writes in regards to a news article regarding fuel line leak due to a malfunctioning error *tgw

Fuel line failure above the gas tank.the fuel line has a cut which allowed gas to pour out which could have caused a major problem including fatalities.

There is a leak from my gas tank. Car is in good condition. Took to get a diagnostic ran and there is no ramage, rust, rodant chewing, or puncture. It is leak from the tank/ where the connector valve is.my car was stationary from thursday evening until 3 pm on friday in my parking spot behind the house. Going out ot my car i turned it on, finished putting my things in the trunk. Preceded to get into the car and i smelled gas even stronger. I almost drove off but the smell was overpowering i was afraid. I decided to turn car off and step away 4 feet where i still could smell gas. I saw it leaking.it was taken away by a tow truck.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the contact smelled gasoline fuel as the vehicle stalled.upon further inspection, the contact discovered that all of the fuels leaked out of the vehicle. The fire department was called to secure the fuel leak and the vehicle was towed to a dealer. The dealer stated that a rodent had chewed through the fuel line and caused the fuel leak. The dealer repaired the fuel line. The failure mileage was 14,000.

I am a fuel efficient driver, drive with the econ button on mos of the time. I drive 150 miles 5 times a week. Every time i am going downhill and i push the brakes to slow down, the rpm's go up. I also tried driving without the econ to see if it would change and the same thing happened. You would think by hitting the brakes a little harder would do the trick to decrease speed, but it doesn't. As you start holding the breaks for a long time, then the rps would decrease. I have looked online and many people are saying the same thing.example:http://www.civicforums.com/forums/210-engine/350659-2012-honda-civic-ex-engine-braking-econ-button.html.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that there was an extremely strong odor of fuel present and there was fuel leaking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed some type of animal had chewed a hole in the fuel lines and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.

There is no accident, hereis problem: i have 6840 miles on a 2012 honda civic lx 4dr. When fuel tank filled to all the way, the fuel was slapping about front to back while hit brake or parking. It makes a loud noise and fuel slam into the wall of fuel tank. I went to honda local dealer and they tell me this is normal, you are not first one to complaint, but there is no service bulletin to it.this is unsafe, 10 gal gas flow in tank will throw off the balance while you make turns, or cause damage sensors in the tank, or cause fuel system leak even fire.

The car loses power when going up hills and has stalled twice. If i lightly bump the shift while driving it goes into neutral. I must use the emergency brake when parked even on a flat surface or the car will roll.

Got a check engine light on and it says something to do with fluke tank.

I have experienced accelerationproblems for over a period of 3 months, similar to those listed by other honda owners online. Most recent incident occurred on 11/27/2017 ,10/6/2017,10/9/17 and in other several occasions when operating the vehicle and its inability to perform in a safe matter has greatly troubled me concerning my safety and the safety public. The following occurred on that day, while i was making a left hand turn crossing lanes of traffic and car would not accelerate when the gas pedal was being pushed all the way to the floor, nearly causing an accident. The car also launches forward while in the drive gear or on reverse after it has been parked for several hours.on other occasions , when pulling into or out of the garage/driveway the car clunked and lurched ahead.on other occasions the car has unattended gas control issue, the car also reaches top speeds of over 37 mph without even touching the gas pedal once. This now happens daily, i have taken it to the dealership and they tell me this is a normal function of the car when i know that this is not true. I have owned several cars and i know this is not normal. I no longer feel comfortable driving this car because it is unsafe. I have reached out to the manufacturer and i feel they keep giving me the run ?around.i have also taken the car to the dealership where i purchased it, but they say there is nothing wrong with it. I have also contacted the manufacturer (american honda) requesting a field engineer have not been able to get any resolution and i?m getting nowhere with them. This car is dangerous to drivei fear for my safety and my families as well as the public safety. I have no other means of transportation and renting a car is not within my budget. I hope that with your help i can get this matter resolved. Thank you, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

On approximately 10 occasions, after refueling the honda civic gx (natural gas) vehicle, the car would start up and travel no more than 100 yards from the filling station. The gas gauge reads empty even though the tank is full. There are pressure regulators and safety valves that open up with a thunk sound when the car is started after filling. In each case when the car has stalled, the valves/regulators do not open up with the thunk sound. This has been happening for the last 1.5 years with the 2012 civic gx. There is no pattern to when this occurs or doesn't, but, it usually happens in a cluster of times and then goes away for 5-6 months.reading online forums, this seems to happen to vehicles that are much older and honda's only solution is to replace the valves and regulators. As my vehicle is still under warranty, they have been reluctant to do anything. From corporate honda, they are blaming the drivers for leaving the key in the ignition in the acc position. I know that for 9 out of the 10 incidents, the key was not in the ignition. The stalling of the car has posed a dangerous situation when i was pulling out into traffic only to have the car stall due to lack of gas in the fuel line (safety valve is located in the rear of the vehicle) as it sucks what it can from the fuel line to the valves. It usually takes about 40-45 minutes for the system to reset and allow the car to run. It will run fine until some future refueling. This does not appear to be easily repeatable.

You can hear the fuel moving around the gas tank and banging against the gas tank walls whenever i stop.it is most severe when the tank is full.i complained to the honda dealer where i purchased the vehicle about the noise.the dealer let me know that the noise i was hearing was the fuel moving around in the fuel tank, due to a design change in the 2012 model which removed the fuel tank baffles.the dealer will not fix this issue on my car.i called and wrote to honda directly complaining about this issue and requesting resolution and they have not responded.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that when the fuel tank was filled to capacity, a strong fuel odor emitted through the cabin and a hissing noise was heard.the contact suffered carbon monoxide symptoms of memory loss fatigue and recurring headaches.the contact recently received notification of a voluntary manufacturer's recall product update to replace the fuel receptacle and fuel pipe.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 21,000.

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who advised that the vehicle operated according to manufacturer's specifications.the manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.updated 04/09/13*ljthe consumer stated the most dangerous problem with the vehicle, was the non-functioning windshield defroster. The dashboard air compression system was not strong enough for the vehicle. As a result, only the bottom six inches of the windshield was cleaned off during inclement weather. In the summer time when it rained, the windows would fog up from the high humidity, because the defroster would clear the windows.the consumer also stated the door locks did not work and the heating system would take 10-15 minutes to activate, depending on how cold it was.also, in the winter time, the power windows did not work. The window would remain in its position,. However, the motor could be heard running.. The frozen ice within the panel prevented the window from moving up or down.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while reversing into a residential garage, the vehicle accelerated forward as the brake was disengaged. On a different occasion, while driving uphill and releasing the brakes, the vehicle surged backward. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who stated that the failure was normal. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. For manual transmissions rpms remain high even after foot is off the gas pedal consequently making it impossible to match rpms and causing premature failure to friction disks (clutch). I have a honda civic si 2012, 6 gears manual transmission, i was at a stop sign when i started moving forward, shifted to first gear fine then second gear, but when i tried shifting to third gear it lock me out from shifting into it and my friend and i started to smell burn clutch i tried to shift back to second gear and it wouldn't let me. I had to pull over until the vehicle let me shift into first gear. This type of incidents keep on happening so i called honda customer service for them to fix it and i also gave them the nhtsa campaign number: 12v256000, honda said they couldn't find a recall for my vehicle and i need to take it up with my local dealership. Now my vehicle has 29,000 and it does not move due to the power train just does not engage. Can i get help so i may drive my vehicle please help i am just getting harass by honda. I do not have a phone can i be contacted by email.

Engine stalls at low speed going around corner, then starts abruptly at a higher speed, causing dangerous lack of control. This has happened a dozen times.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While shifting from first to second gear, a loud noise emitted from the vehicle. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

On saturday, august 25th, when driving on a hilly roadway, i accelerated to p/u speed to get up the hill.the transmission sounded like it was straining and rpm was over 3000.when i reached the top of the hill and started the descent, i hit the brake to reduce my speed, but the vehicle did not slow down and the transmission was stuck with rpms still over 3000.it took more than 10 seconds for the transmission to shift down. If there was a vehicle in the same lane as mine, there would have been an accident.

While driving, car randomly displays check emission and check transmission system error. When i restart the car, the check engine light comes when i put it in d position. I took the car for repair and they say everything is normal and they didn't find any issues. I'm really worried about the safety in mid-way and also the engine or transmission might get effected.

Car suddenly stops dead while accelerating to make left hand turn. It will resume acceleration only after afoursecond pause. Turning into on coming traffic with a dead vehicle is going to cause an accident involving injuries or death. This is the third time that this incident has occurred to my vehicle.the honda dealer can not find the cause. The accelerator safety device switch on brake pedal is suspected. Neither i or other driver ever knowingly touched the brake pedal.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 12v256000 (power train: driveline: driveshaft) and the vehicle was taken to dealer for repairs. The vehicle was repaired however, one week later as the contact turned on the vehicle and depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact depressed the brake pedal and the lights on the instrument panel also failed to illuminate. The vehicle was not taken to dealer for inspection or repair. The current and failure mileage was 28,146.

My wife came to a stop at our security gate, used the remote for the gate but it wouldn't open. She backed up about 15 feet to turn around. When she put the car in drive, it lurched forward back towards the gate and wouldn't stop when she applied the brakes. It didn't speed up and it wouldn't stop. The car was making a grinding noise as it moved along. She was jamming on the brakes and it still went right through the closed gate, pushing it open as it went. It kept going for another 40-50 feet until she thought to pull on the emergency brake. The car stopped. She turned the car off and got out, badly shaken but not injured. After calming down, she got back in the car to see if it would start. It did. She drove it two more blocks to our house. She hasn't driven it since. She's terrified it will happen again.

My 2012 honda civic rolled back while on a steep incline and in drive. Instead of transmission staying engaged it allows the car to roll back as if it were in neutral.

Recently, i started noticing my vehicle experiencing a slight loss of power when attempting to accelerate, and a tendency to over-rev, as well as spotting in my parking space. The problem was intermittent at first, occurring mainly in the morning. After two days, i took it to a mechanic to take a look, and after cleaning the undercarriage, he took it for a test drive. Upon entering a roundabout, the vehicle lost all driving power. He inspected it again, and found that the front left drive shaft had slipped out of the automatic transmission housing, allowing all of the transmission fluid to leak out. While shopping for replacement parts, i found mention of this exact problem being reported in the same make, model and year of vehicles, requiring a recall.

Rev. Suddenly goes about 3500prm and stay there for a while when i drive downhill.at that moment when you step on the gas pedal the car will not accelerate like normal.sometime there are car behind you and this is very dangerous because your car can not go as far as the car behind you. Please test the 2012 honda civic, this car have problem.

When making a left turnat a busy and dangerous intersection i lost power for several seconds. I managed to pull onto the shoulder until the car accelerated again. I had called the dealership previously about this recurring problem. I took the car into the service department of the dealership prior to the date of this incident and the problem could not be replicated. Because of safety concerns i traded the car in with mileage at less 2000.

When turning the steering wheel right and left, there is a loud clanking noise. It happens 95% of the time. The dealer told me it was the power steering fluid (even though there is no power steering fluid as the 2012 model has an electronic system). The noise has continued and gets worse. They told me other models had a recall on the driveshaft which may be the issue but they cant do anything unless i pay out of pocket because my car was not under the recall.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic exl. While driving approximately 5 mph, the accelerator pedal was engaged and there was a two second delayed response. The failure recurred sporadically. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was made aware of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 150.the consumer stated on an intermittent basis, the vehicle failed to accelerate from a stopped or idling condition, such as pulling out of a parking lot into on oncoming traffic or turning to the on ramp of an interstate highway. Updated 11/30/11

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated as the vehicle entered the driveway on an incline the vehicle began to move in reverse. The gear shift was in drive when the failure occurred three times. There was also a clanking noise when the gears changed automatically and whenever the contact made a left or right turn the steering wheel did not return to its normalposition. The vehicle will be taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 994.

The contact stated that when attempting to accelerate or complete a turn, the vehicle would hesitate without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they advised him that they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 15. The current mileage was approximately 7,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while reversing into a residential garage, the vehicle accelerated forward as the brake was disengaged. On a different occasion, while driving uphill and releasing the brakes, the vehicle surged backward. In order to stop the vehicle from rolling backward, the contact had to continuously depress the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who stated that the failure was normal. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 600 and the current mileage was 1,200. Updated 09/21/11*ljthe consumer stated she parked the vehicle on a downhill slope. As she started the vehicle, shifted into reverse, released the foot brake, and before she pressed the accelerator pedal to back out of the driveway, the vehicle rolled forward almost hitting a door. Update 09/30/11

For manual transmissions rpms remain high even after foot is off the gas pedal consequently making it impossible to match rpms and causing premature failure to friction disks (clutch). Un necessary wear causing 1200+ in repairs. Has failed twice now in less than 80,000 miles first failure under 30,000

The vehicle had a dragging noise coming from under the car and then a whole chunk of metal fell off from under the car

Some clicking noise coming from under the hood when car the is accelerating to shift gears, this only happens when the car is started first thing and then if you let the car sit for 5 minutes. The clicking happens only 2 times in a row and then when the car accelerates over 10 miles the clicking stops.

Manual transmission-when pulling out from a stop on an incline, the clutch makes a grinding/vibrating sound.i took to the dealer 3x prior to the warranty expiring and they 'couldn't duplicate it'it's so loud, a pedestrian standing on the sidewalk next to a road can hear it.it started prior to 30k miles, still happening at 100,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While parking, the vehicle lunged forward and crashed into the front of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact stated that there were no injuries sustained and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Shift cable is loss - causing longer gear and sometimes almost impossible to shift.

Car will roll backwards while in drive (automatic transmission).i was in my driveway that is uphill.i let off the brakes and the car started to roll backwards. I conducted more tests and found it does this regardless of the grade.i also tested our 2 other cars and neither did this. I called the dealership and they said it is normal.i called honda (file # n012014-03-1702499) and they said it is normal.i feel that this is unsafe.i'm 41 yrs old have been driving for 25 yrs, i have never been in an automatic car that will drift backwards in drive. This is dangerous for people who are not used to this and not informed that the cars will do this.

While driving on the highway at 50mph at 2500rpm all of a sudden my rpm went to 4000 without me accelerating morei got scared and tried to slowly slow down the vehicle but rpm remained at 4000. And it remained like that till i stopped the vehicle and restarted it.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that the vehicle had become extremely resistant to acceleration attempts. In addition, there was an abnormal shifting when the vehicle shifted gears. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer several times for the failure and an engineer also further inspected the vehicle but was unable to duplicate the failure.the failure mileage was 50 and the current mileage was 4,900.

2012 honda civic. Consumer writes in regards to transmission noise. *tgwthe consumer also stated the wiper blades were replaced three times.

2012 honda civic. Consumer states problems with vehicle after recall repairs *tgwthe consumer stated after the recall work was completed, the brakes started making a loud noise and the speedometer indicated eight miles, when it was actually at a stop. The consumer stated she did not have any problems with the vehicle, until she took it to the dealer.

I was in a stop and go traffic the van in front made a sudden stop i slammed on my brake but hit the van. Impact was big no major damage but seat belt was locked and i can smell near air bag i have check air bag system sign on but air bag did not deploy

Srs airbag light is on...warning light on the screen keeps flashing.

Whenever the passenger in the front seat moves a little bit, the air bag is turned off. And i get a big notice saying the passenger air bag is turned off. This is a big problem and is very scary in most situations. I would need this to be fixed as soon as possible please.

The air baglight turn on for no reason and passages air bag never activates. I took my car with a mechanic and the diagnostic was there's something wrong with air bag and seat belt.

I commute almost 2 hours to work and then 2 hours back each day. Therefore, i traded my silverado for a 2012 civic for the gas mileage. I bought the car used in may of 2014. It was the second civic on the lot that i test drove. I did not notice anything amiss about either car during the test drives. However, on my first trip home from work i noticed that i felt like my butt was sinking further into the seat and my legs began to ache really bad. Also, the lumbar support is far less than desirable. So far the only fix i have come up with is to lay folded towel down in the seat. But sometimes the towel moves or becomes unfolded. I am still searching for a more permanent solution to the problem. Honda needs to fix the uncomfortable seats.

2012 civic seat issue -i had a 2008 civic coupe. This car was great. The seat, for me was very comfortable. A couple of weeks ago, it was totaled in a car crash and i replaced it with a 2012 civic sedan. The seats look the same as the 2008, but not at all comfortable. My back hurts after just 10 minutes of driving. The seat is hard on the bottom and the back, not curved properly to my back and no matter what position or setting i try, it hurts. The dealer refuses to replace it stating that it is not defective and a new one will not solve the problem. I want my 2008 seat back. I don't know how long i can put up with this. I guess i will have to sell the car soon.

Car seats are extremely uncomfortable.absolutely no back support and head rest is way too forward, causing an arch of your back.i have a daily commute to work of 120 miles and every day i feel like my back needs to re-aligned.i have a monthly cost of $340 for car payment and $50-$80 of body re-alignment. Manufacture should have a disclaimer on these vehicles.

Extremely uncomfortable front seats have led to back, leg and neck pain. Honda needs to recall these vehicles and replace the seats for effected customers.

Passenger airbag never detects when my son or another preteen close to his age is sitting in the seat. It always turns off/ deactivates. If there was an accident the airbag would not deploy and provide safety for my child or his cousins when inside my vehicle.

The passenger seat airbag light doesn't turn off, it stays on. The passenger airbag should be off when no one is sitting there but the light stays on.

Front seat ergonomics are bad!curves your back forward and head down.the headrest is tilted too far forward and down.it has ruined my back.visibility front and back is minimal.can't see hood or car corners.distance to objects, other cars etc. Is a guessing game. When foot is resting on brake and you step on gas, engine drops to idle.dealer says this is a safety feature.it's dangerous!!!!!

Every now and then at random times, speeds, etc. The warning light that says "passenger airbag off" comes on.this happens when someone weighing as much as 145 lbs. Is sitting in that seat.....updated 12/15/15 updated 09/01/2017

The seats, particularly the front seats, cause extreme pain in the buttocks and legs.this was not evident during my test drive in another vehicle (same model).but after purchasing the car i am in so much pain after driving about ten minutes that i am seriously considering selling it.i originally thought maybe it was just me, but i now see on line that there are many more people who are having the same issue.i have tried adding lumbar supports and various configurations of pillows but they do not remedy the situation.additionally, the head restraint is tilted so far forward that one's neck is tilted forward causing another set of issues because you are not driving in the normal position.

The seat is far from ergonomic including the headrest.there is minimal to no lumbar support.the headrest is angled causing the occupants head to be forced forward in an unnatural position.this has resulted in pins and needle sensation in both arms and legs and multiple visits to my chiropractor.the pain and discomfort last long after i am out of the car leading to sleepless nights.

Takata recallair bag light continues to turn on and off when someone puts on a seat belt or sits in the back seat

Headrest's fixed, forward protruding angle causes me driver fatigue and shape of seats causes numbness.these affect driver reaction and pose risk.i would much prefer the pre-2009 headrests because i was able to stay alert and not have my head shoved forward in an uncomfortable, non-ergonomic manner that causes fatigue within just minutes of driving. Please stand up to the insurance companies.

I was driving through an urban area in the morning on my way to work.the brake peddle got spongy and about 60 seconds later, while trying to stop at a red light, the brake peddle went to the floor and i had absolutely no stopping power.at no point, prior to the incident or after the incident did any kind of warning light appear.i was able to stop with the emergency brake.there was also a strong burning smell in the car at the time.gradually the braking power came back to about 50% and i was able to drive the car to the dealership some 20 miles away.still - no brake warning light.the dealership blames the problem on the car being driven with the emergency brake on (which it was not except for the initial emergency stop).they don't seem bothered that all braking power was lost on the vehicle without any warning lights displayed.the car requires new rear brakes to make it drive-able again.the manufacturer is refusing to cover the repair under their manufacturer warranty.

The brakes drag each time the brakes are applied, this is a constant issue. It has been for sometime now.

When i was checking the air pressure in my tires, i noticed that the front passenger side brake caliper was cracked at the mounting point. Dealer inspected it and found that the brake pads were also worn at an angle - obviously due to broken caliper. Upon reassembly they concluded that the hub was bent as well but they could not determine if one caused the other or how they were related but speculated that the front wheel impacted to an extent that it bent the hub and/or caliper inspite of any evidence of damage to any front end parts, body parts, or wheel. I proposed that the hub was out of spec upon delivery and that after 11,000 miles stresses on the caliper caused it to break, however they disagreed and were unwilling to call the honda area service manager. Cost of repair was initially quoted at around $800. Final cost over $1000.

I am experiencing very rapid rear brake pad wear on my civic. It is a 2012 model, and is driven quite normally as a commuter vehicle to and from work daily.in 2015 at about 60k miles, the rear pads were worn to 0%.i was surprised, but replaced them then.just recently, at about 80k miles, i am just had my mechanic report they're back down to about 10% life and needing replacement soon.this is unnaturally fast, is expensive, and unsafe as mechanics and consumers are used to rear brakes wearing much more slowly than front brakes.in the same period of time, the front brakes are still the original pads, and are showing about 35% life remaining - they have never been replaced.i've read around on forums online, and this seems to be a recurring problem for other civic owners.

Thank you.

The brakes have failed on this car twice.we were fortunate that both times were in a parking lot and my daughter was able to stop the car with the emergency brake.at the same time the brakes went out the power steering went out as well and she had great difficulty turning the car as well as stopping it.the vehicle was stationary at the time, she was attempting to back out of a parking place one time and the second time was able to let the car roll forward in to an empty parking spot where she pulled the emergency brake.

I had been driving on the street for about 5 minutes with my two kids. I had stepped on my brakes a few times and everything seem to work. Suddenly, i needed to slow down and pressed on my brake and the brake was hard where i couldn't step down on it. It seemed like it got stuck. I kept pressing on it and it did not work. I started zig zagging back and forth on the road trying to get the car to stop. I was trying my best to control the car so i wouldn't run into a house or another car.i shifted the car to park and the car did not stop. All this time i kept trying to step on the brake and nothing would happen. Finally, my last resort i pulled the hand brake and the car finally stopped. My car got very damaged.

Driverside rear brake pads and rotorexcessive wear more than front disc brakes. Usually the front disc brake pads have to be replaced before the rear.

The parking brake control knob has broken off and parking brake can not be released without inserting a long object into release button. If i engage the parking brake it is stuck in that position and car will not move. If i don't engage the parking brake then there is no parking brake. If parking on an incline, it is a struggle to move out of park. An independent service center has tried to order a replacement part. Honda says there is not replacement part.there are no warning lights.

The contact owned a 2012 honda civic. While driving approximately 35 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. As a result, the contact's vehicle rear ended another vehicle. The driver's air bag deployed and caused irritation to the face. No medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company who advised him to have the vehicle inspected for the brake failure. The contact stated that diamond valley honda (300 carriage cir, hemet, ca 92545 (888) 794-1620) was contacted, but declined to inspect the vehicle due to the body damage and air bag deployment. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was a leak in the brake line and the brake line needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired due to being deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 134,000.

I took my 2012 honda civic for service i was told my rear brakes needed to be replaced, they replaced rear brake pads, new shim plates, resurfaced rotors. My rear brakes were at 2mm. I do not understand how could the rear brakes wear out before the front brakes they were at 7mm.i think my rear braking system mustbe defective.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated she heard a grinding noise while braking. The contact took the vehicle into the dealer for an inspection and was informed that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact then attempted to forcefully apply the brakes and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 17,000. The vin was unavailable.

On steep hill stopped, in drive. Fire department paramedics request i yield for them to go down hill.i let go of foot brake, car starts rolling backwards while still in drive. Suddenly, no brakes !!car increases rolling speed backwards, i yank up emergency brake & car finally stops.put car in park, back in drive, still no brakes. Emergency brake again to stop car.turning car off & on brings back break function.

We had the honda civic almost 6 months, all the driving like 99% has been fwy driving-anyway,happened to be in la for an appt and had a good 40 ft between me and the car infront of me.. Car infront applied brake so did i , i just kept going- brake went to floor.. I was totally stunned.- happened so fast, i had no other option but to hit car infront.. It kind of felt like sliding- it was a sunny day, dry outside, nothing to slide on but that is the only way to describe nothing to stop me but the other car.. If i went left to avoid car, i would ve been hit by oncoming traffic so stunned the brakes were not there..so i rear ended the car that stopped us.. She had a laredo cherokee- after the impact we wondered why the air bags didn't come out, it was pretty direct.. I can only guess that her car was higher so the sensors didn't go off??car is at body shop for last two weeks.. I told our insurance, i told the body shop, i told the hubby and everyone else that asked that i pushed the brake in and not a [xxx] thing happened.. I talked to the service guys at the honda that it has seen for regular maintenance going by computer menu thingy..i ve been early or on time getting it serviced.. They said "the brakes are suppose to work that way" really? i'd be devastated if there was an animal, a person, infront of me i would have hit them and gone over them.. I ve never ever had a car respond that way.. After the hit, i moved to the side.. Automatically used e brake. I then drove it a mile further at a crawl to a parking garage to make calls.. I drove at a snails pace.. You could've walked next to us.. 2 hrs later, i drove it two more miles at the same speed to body shop.. I have asked them to look at it.. They haven't yet.. The car is in pieces as they fix but they promised too. The guy was surprised we weren't injured.. I don't want to drive it again.. For manual transmissions rpms remain high even after foot is off the gas pedal consequently making it impossible to match rpms and causing premature failure to friction disks (clutch). Un necessary wear causing 1200+ in repairs. Brakes locked up on highway.. Lost control spun 5 times and even after new alternator.. The rpm never reduces properly.. Had in shop 3 x's set at your spec is wrong to make brake elease jerk, car shake at lights and causes me to rear end another car. 2/6/16

Twice i was stopped and foot on brake.car rolled into car up front.my foot was still on the brake.i read that other people had the same problem.my insurance paid for one auto and the other let it go.

Was driving around 50 mph when the light changedto yellow, when i tried to put on brakes they were gone and the steering was gone also, i did see a error message that stated to check power steering i was able to turn the car into a parking lot instead of going through the light.i cut off the car and re-started the car and the message and the check steering light were gone.it was as if the car lost power.i put my vin in honda's web site to check for a recall and there were not any.this could cause fatal accidents.

Was following 2 car lengths behind a truck when a driver from the oncoming side of traffic fell asleep and rolled into median threatening to continue rolling onto our side of the road. Truck ahead of me slammed on brakes and in turn i slammed on brakes and ran into the back of the truck ahead of me. Abs brakes did not pump and work as they should have. Car written up as totaled by geico.

My car (manual) was parked in first gear on an incline in my jobsite parking lot. The emergency brake was not engaged. Within 1-2hrs it rolled back nearly hitting my place of business and an ac unit. It is all on camera. It rolled some, then stopped, then again rolled and stopped. It has never done this in the past but i typically have the e-brake engaged. Days before, i was sitting in my same vehicle after it was parked for several minutes and it jerked suddenly. It did not roll back at this time.

Check vsa check power steering system malfunction during driving! vehicle breaking on its on randomly! i could have been in a fatal accident! vehicle is not functional due to these electrical errors!

I got into a accident last monday, feb. 13, 2012, like around 8 or 9 in the morning. I was making a right turn when my car went out of control even though i was already stepping on the brakes and i was trying to turn the steering wheel to the left butthe car just kept going to the right until i hit the pole sign that says "no parking at all times" (something like that). The metal pole that i hit broke and almost 1/4 of that metal pole that was stuck to the ground scraped the bottom of part of my car and the bottom covering fell off and it cost $4,000.00 to repair and now i have to pay $500.00 for my deductible which is not even my fault why my car did that. It wasn't the first time my car did that. It did something weird twice last year before i got into this accident last week. First was last year, a month or two after i got my car when i was driving on the freeway when i tried stepping on the breaks and instead of my car slowing down, it suddenly accelerated. Thank goodness there's no car in front of me. Then the second time was i think around november or december of last year when my friend was test driving the car to see if she wants to buy the same thing. We were together in the car and she was driving when she stopped stepping on the gas and brakes and the car just accelerated by itself. She was surprised that it that but we both figured that any car is just like that and since we both don't know anything about cars we thought it was normal for my car to accelerate on its own until i got into this accident, the police told me that it is not normal for my car to do that specially when i'm already stepping on the brakes. :(

The incident happened twice with two different scenarios.i stopped in a parking lot to run an errand and when i came back and started the vehicle 2012 honda civic the check power steering system light came on and it was difficult to steer the vehicle.i drove it to a shop thinking like the older cars that the power steering fluid was low, but i was told that it is an internal system now and i would have to contact the dealer.the next morning when i started the car the light was off and the power steering worked as normal.i drove the vehicle for about two weeks when it happened again.this time i was traveling down a grade on a highway about 60 miles an hour when the check power steering system light came on and i lost the power steering.it took everything i had to hold the wheel with both hands to maneuver the curves.i slowed my speed and drove home.it was late and all service places were closed.the next morning the light was still on and i still had no power steering.i called the dealership and i could not get an appointment until a week later.i think this is an extreme safety hazard since it happens while you are driving and you lose steering without any warning.this should be a recall.

Difficult to steer at both low and high speed. A lot of resistance to turning the wheel. Took it to dealer who could find nothing wrong, and would not investigate further under warranty. Slightly more than 60,000 miles

My 2012 honda civic lx coupe has extremely vague steering feel at speeds greater than 55 mph, causing excessive and repeated correction to maintain proper course. The car also veers to the right on a regular basis causing me to direct the steering wheel towards the left to continue driving straight. The dealer has performed a 4 wheel alignment twice without resolution.they have also inspected the steering and suspension components, as well as done a road test.no problems are reported, thus no repairs could be done.previous hondas do not evidence this problem.the issue remains and is persistent.

Driving back home from work, check power steering light came on.difficult to drive home.next day i started my car, the check engine light is not displaying.

Just as many other complains, daughter got into car after classes and couldn't steer car in parking lot. Noticed check power steering light on. Dad came to take her home since not drivable. Researched issue and noticed troubles with many other owners. Went back to car next am prepared to have towed to repair shop and problem was gone. Drove car home since didn't want daughter to drive it. Took to local hi da dealer service and said no issues with steering but needed replacement airbacn for $1200!this is outrageous. We also have a honda minivan (second one) that has electrical issues recently.

I have lost power steering twice in the past week. Both times i was driving 65 mph on the interstate and the "check power steering" light came on and power steering was gone. After the first time it happened, i took to the dealership and they replaced the rack and pinion and said the control unit was working okay. The next time i drive my car after it being fixed, i lose power steering again on the interstate. However, when i turned my car off and turned it on again, the light went away and it was fine. Taking it to the dealership again to be checked.

Started car in morning and a light came on to "check power steering system".brought car in to be checked and powers steering rack of pinion is missing a piece(was either never in place or fell out). Honda dealership unwilling to cover any cost because the car was no longer under warranty.

I started my packed car but realized that the steering was so stiff/hard that l could not steer it ,afterwhich it produced a sharp sound and l lost control over the car.i pumped my foot breaks but to avail ,i managedand got to a neighbor driveway where i put it on pack and raise the hand breaks .i had a warning message saying that l should check power steering system .i tolled the car to a mechanicsand the guytold me that he didnotnot see any problem .while on the driveway ,i started the car again but it will moving on it own ,so l had three people who came and pushed from behindin order for me to pack it straight. I almost the hit the lady's car on her driveway .my car is still with the mechanic.

My 2012 honda civic lx coupe has extremely vague steering feel, causing excessive and repeated correction to maintain proper course. The car also veers to the right on a regular basis causing me to direct the steering wheel towards the left to continue driving straight. I have had a honda dealer address this problem, and while it seems slightly better the underlying problems, including its veering rightward remain annoyingly persistent.

Check vsa check power steering system malfunction during driving! vehicle breaking on its on randomly! i could have been in a fatal accident! vehicle is not functional due to these electrical errors!

My 16 year old daughter was driving the car at 45 mph and the power steering system warning light came on and she lost steering control. She pulled over turned off the car and sat for 15 minutes. Then turned the car back on and it worked she drove the car for another 5 minutes and it did the same thing to her again.if she would have been in a curve when this happen she would not have been strong enough turn the car and an accident could have occured

During rain storms especially, the power steering warning comes on and i lose all power to steer. I can still steer but its extremely hard. Has happened 3-4 times now. Has been to the dealer but he doesn't know why get. Had to get a rental until its fixed. In my opinion, electronic power steering is much less reliable than the old type.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that after turning the vehicle on after being parked in the driveway, they noticed that the check power steering system warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel failed to turn left or right, maybe moving approximately a half of an inch in either direction. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

When leaving my parking space, my steering wheel locked and i was unable to turn the vehicle. If i had needed to maneuver my vehicle, i would not have been able to do so. The dashboard indicated that the power steering needed to be inspected.

The eps electric power steering failed on the vehicle with no warning.at 35-40 mph the eps warning light came on and the car could not be turned in any direction.the car was wrestled off to the side of the road.it was turned off for several minutes and turned back on.problem persisted. Turned off ignition for 10 minutes and the warning light went out and steering came back.thank god there was no accident.this is beyond dangerous.honda needs to step up to the plate and recall these vehicles with defective steering.somebody is going to die.now my daughter is afraid to drive the vehicle.we need to get it to the shop.

While i was driving my car 40mph something happened and suddenly power steering went off along with a message. It is so difficult to steer. And the dealer stated that there is nothing wrong. It's still at the dealer. However problem keeps going on. I think it has to be recalled, too.

The eps(electronic power steering) indicator turned on after ignition and stays on. Because of this, i am not able to steer the vehicle, it can go up and down in a straight line but cannot steer. It started while reversing my vehicle from the driveway, i could not drive it with the eps light on, so it is currently parked at the driveway. I see similar incidents reported by others on common forum. Please investigate this with complaints from other customers and get this fixed by the manufacturer

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic coupe. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the power steering failed causing the contact to crash into the side rail. A police report was filed and injuries were sustained. The vehicle was towed to auto service repair shop. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Check your power steering system, error message came on while stopped. Am unable to steer my car. Car is only a 2012 with 23,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While driving approximately 25 mph, the power steering failed without warning and the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road with caution. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the results were unknown. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

Horn fails to work all the time. On the fourth trip to the dealer it was found to be related to position of steering wheel. The dealer replaced the ribbon cable associated with the horn (broken/ intermittent wiring). Now car out of warranty problem came back. Is this poor workmanship? bad design? lemon???not a happy camper!

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While driving 35 mph, the check power steering indicator illuminated and the steering wheel became difficult to control. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was taken to causeway honda (457 route 72, manahawkin, nj 08050, (609) 597-0033) a few years ago for the steering wheel failure. The dealer peformed a diagnostic test that located the failure code at the steering software. The dealer updated the steering software; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for the recent failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While driving 35 mph and making a turn, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. There were no warning indicators illuminated. An appointment was scheduled with sport honda (3110 automobile blvd, silver spring, md 20904, (301) 890-4700), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 76,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While the vehicle was parked for approximately 45 minutes and attempting to drive, the power steering failed. The contact stated that the power steering warning indicator illuminated. After driving the vehicle at approximately 20 mph, the power steering began to operate correctly; however, the power steering warning indicator remained illuminated. While driving approximately 40 mph, the power steering failed again. The contact called kendall honda of fairbanks (located at 1000 cadillac ct, fairbanks, ak 99701, 855-501-3434) where it was diagnosed that it needed power steering fluid, however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. When the vehicle was started with the key in the ignition, the eps indicator alerted the contact to check the power steering. The contact stated that there was no power steering ability when maneuvering the steering wheel in either direction. The vehicle was turned off and restarted. The vehicle was towed to clinton honda (1511 us-22, annandale, nj 08801, 908-735-0800, (908) 238-3933) where it was determined that there was no eps recall to provide a remedy. The dealer replaced the eps control unit and updated the dtc 33-01fet (a switch within the steering rack). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 12v548000 (steering). The approximate failure mileage was 26,859.

A few hours ago (2012 civic si) the check power steering system indicator came on as i was leaving the parking lot.it was heck trying to steer back into parking.called the dealer; but since it was closing time, he advised me to call back in the a.m.the engine seems to be revving itself when i'm in neutral.it's been doing this for several months.this was the first time that the power steering stopped.

Driving on a surface road at approximately 30 mph and the power steering failed with a power steering warning message on the dash display.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The power steering is off when making turns. The engine has to be restarted to recover the power steering.

Recently the electric power steering system indicator started to turn on while driving in the street, which stayed on (including in highway) until the engine was turned off. This happened twice without noticeable problems for the steering wheel. Last week, the indicator turned on again along with a message "check the power steering system" while driving in the local way, and at the same time the steering wheel was stiff and unable to make any turn. To get rid of this problem, i had to turn off and on the engine repeatedly. This problem happened twice. I checked the fuse for eps (electronic power steering), which looked fine. I called several auto service shops and they said this problem is weird and they were unable to help. Although the car is still drivable, i'm very worried about its safety in driving, especially in high speeds.i bought this car as an used one from a dealer 3 years ago. All warranties have expired. Currently there are no open safety recalls.

The power steering light will come on and the cars power steering column will lock up. I was driving down the road approximately 60 mph and the power steering light came on. I could barely turn the steering wheel . I was able to slow down and people helped me get it to the side of the road.i had the car towed to the dealership and i was informedi needed to update the eps. It cost $70 and my system software was updated. A month later i was driving again and the light came on. The power steering immediately locked u again. This is so dangerous. I was able to get stopped, turn the car off and back on. It reset it i guess cause it started working. I drove it to the dealer very slow and was told i need an eps control unit system and it would be around $867 with labor. I've noticed tons of other people have this same complaint and it should be a recall issue and fixed. It's very dangerous and someone is going to get killed.

I left the house to pick up my daughter from daycare.left the house to the daycare and everything was fine.when i left the daycare, started the car everything was good until i went to turn the wheel to get onto the main road and i received the warning light on the dash that said "check power steering system".needless to say, my power steering was gone.i backed up, with turning the wheel hard, and turned the car off hoping it was fluke.turned the car back on and same issue.since i don't live too far from the daycare, i did drive home with my daughter in the car.pulled in driveway and turned car off and on a few times and still an issue.drove to local maintenance shop to investigate- they didn't get to it until next day.....no issues when they started the car!appears others have had this same issue.i may take to local honda dealer for further diagnosis if issue persists, but i don't want power steering to go on the middle of the highway when hitting 65 miles / hour!believe this is a safety issue for honda to investigate.

Eps controller unit need to be replaced. Power steering light comes on and steering is hard.if turn vehicle off than back on again, light goes away and steering is back to normal

I was driving on highway yesterday with 2 of my toddler kids in my honda. Suddenly the power steering light turned on and immediately the steering became extremely difficult to turn and like dead. I was very scared and try to slow down. But it is still very extreme difficult to turn. I turned on the double flashing light and slowed moved to the nearby gas station and asked my insurance to tow my car to dealer. I am 20weeks pregnant so i have 3 children in the car. The second day the dealer checked everything but told me they cannot find any problem with it. I found a lot of complaint filed online with 2012 honda civic and there is a recall with certain 2012 honda civic that was made late that year. I called honda inc and checked my vin, i was informed there is no recall on my car. I explained this is very similar to other cases they made recall on about the steering system and this is very likely due to their manufacture mistake as i have been driving this car without any issue in 5 years and no any accident or injury. They say there is nothing they can do. The car dealer also inform me there is nothing they can do but have me drive carefully and they told me this can happen again!!!. I am pregnant and have 2 little children i sent to school with daily. I cannot have this happen again in a tragic accident.!!!

Car driving down hwy steering goes out and light came on turn car off steering works fine drive car steering goes out light comes on turn car off drive car home with no power steering turn off and on works fine take to dealer codes 33-01 and 33-06 said needs rack & pumpthis is very dangerous what was the outcome of this problem that has been going on on these cars since 2012 why no recall oh i,ama mechanic certifiedage 57

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While driving 35 mph, the steering wheel seized. In order for the steering to operate, the contact had to turn the ignition switch on and off four times. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and the power steering rack was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000. Updated 12/13/16*ljthe consumer stated the steering would lock up, placing him at risk. The dealer stated the power steering rack needed to be replaced. Updated 12/19/16.

On july 7, 2019 i went out started my car as i proceeded to turn my wheel to get out my parking space the wheel would not turn it was locked then the dash displayed a message saying check power system steering. The next day, which was monday i had the car towed to a shop, the tow driver had a very hard time trying to get the car out of the parking space due to the wheels locking up,yet by the time my car arrived at the shop the steering was back.i now have a car i'm afraid to drive, can't imagine driving and losing the power to steer.

The electronic power steering failed while operating the vehicle. This failure caused the steering wheel to become very difficult to move causing me to stop the car abrubetly. Luckily i wasn`t hit and there was no damage. I have been driving for nearly 37 years and never experienced anything like it. I have looked on line and found that this is not an isolated incident. Other owners of 2012 honda civics have complained about the same type of failures. Thank you for your time and taking my complaint.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, there was a loss of power steering with the warning indicator illumination. The failure occurred sporadically. Vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. There was a slight rain the night prior to the failure and the sun roof was open. The technician stated that there was damage to the power steering electric system due to rain. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 17,300. The vin was unavailable.

I began to pull out of the parking lot of my workplace to head towards the freewaywhen suddenly my steering stops working. I work in a very busy area and traffic is very busy. Luckily, there was a red light and that i am a safe driver because if i would have gotten on the freeway i would have most likely gotten into a fatal accident. I am also very fortunate that the weather did not end up being inclement as it was predicted to be. I have heard of other people having the same issue with their 2012-2013 honda civics. Shouldn't they initiate a recall process because this isn't safe.

Started car and check power steering warning came up. There was a slight shutter then steering was hard. Shut carand restarted and warning were gone and steering ok. 1 week later same problem, but will not clear and no power steering.shut car and restarted, warning still on, but power steeringworking, but there is a slight noise on and off. Something to do with the electronic power steering.

My honda civic 2012 is having exact same problem covered under a "honda service bullitin 14-058". The "check power steering alert"appears at various times and goes off at various times (while not losing power steering assist, so far). Honda dealer suggests servicing when car actually loses steering power.

Check power steering warning indicator displays on dash, would go away and come back, steering loss during driving. Immediately took the car to the dealer and they charged $130 to diagnose that the problem was due to faulty software.this is a safety issue and all civic should receive the software updated as a part of a recall and not make the owner pay to fix buggy software.

Electronic power steering failure with check power steering system warning.

I was driving at 35 mph on a city street with high traffic volumerwhen i lost all power steering and the indicator light went on statting check power steering system.. The car was unable to be steered properly and is currently at the shop in tenafly nj- tenafly of honda. This incident is extremely troublesome as i now doubt the reliability of the vehicle.

Electric power steering module failed while driving at slow speed (straight). Eps warning came on. Eps re-activated 1 hour later but failed again after vehicle was switched-off and restarted. Eps working again after 14 hrs.

Power steering when out all at once while driving, very difficult to steering, drove homebarely able to steer, after car sat for a while the steering works now, afraid to get out of driveway because afraid it will happen again

I am just documenting that this vehicle has a real glare problem due to size and slant of windshield.the entire image of the dash appears on the windshield and the glare is very distracting while driving.i'm sure honda has tried to deal with this issue due to the matte finish on the dash, but it isn't working.i feel like i've made one of the biggest mistakes in buying this vehicle.i hope i don't run someone over, lost in the glare.

2012 honda civic. Consumer states vehicle stalled when pulling away from a stop.*tgwthe consumer stated the motor would still run, but there would be no acceleration; just a significant pause.the vehicle was inspected by the dealer and they stated there was nothing wrong and the pause was caused by a safety feature, triggered by the consumers driving style; two feet and the inadvertent pressure on the brake pedal while accelerating from a stop. The dealer stated any pressure, even the slightest, would cause the vehicle to pause.

Sense the date of purchase the noise level from the road surface inside the car has been vary loud.i down loaded a db app in our iphone and have measured sound levels above 90db.on our recent vacation on highway 197 between the dalles and bend or which had been just tar&graveled the noise level was in the 90db+ range for close to 4 hours.this noise level is hazardous for adults but extremely dangerous for infants and young children.i complained to the dealer and they blamed the tires (which are the originals),but they did not replace them.it's illegal for the driver to wear head phones or ear plugs in ca.the car should not really on special tires to maintain an except-able noise level in the passenger compartment.

Driving on a rural highway and hit a deer. Impact bent the bracket that holds the airbag sensor completely backwards and into the sensor itself, which cracked. Airbag never deployed. Now, post repair, airbag warning and light are on constantly.

The paint is peeling all over my car especially the roof and trunk

At approximately 7:45 a.m. I arrived at work and turned left into parking space to park.i was driving a 2012 honda civic, which was less than one month old.the car lunged forward when i took my foot off of the accelerator, jumped the parking bumper and struck a concrete wall.the driver's air bag deployed and the front bumper was scraped and knocked out of place.american honda has inspected the car and claims that nothing is wrong with it but refuses to release its report to me.

The problem is on top of the car around rear windshield. The pain is gone during a couple months. It is white right now.

Sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving on highway on 5/16/2017 @ 645 am.temperature was upper 60s with calm weather.the glass covered the front seats of the vehicle.

The sunroof on my 2012 honda civic sunroof won't close. It gets stuck and it does a clicking sound. Based on previous forum pages this issues is ongoing with many other cars with the same model and year. Honda refuses to fix the issue. This issue can lead to water getting in the vehicle and other debris.

On the roof of my car the clearcoat/paint is fading off really bad. Itā€™s in different spots all over.

Paint is peeling where the rear window meets the roof. Just noticed, not sure how long it has been happening.

Honda released a notice acknowledging cracks or "crow's feet" that develop on the paint of older model honda civic's ('06-'11). I recently began seeing these paint defects on the hood and roof of my 2012 honda civic coupe ex that is black in color (crystal black pearl). I was told that this cracking was a problem with the earlier, canadian-built, blue, black, and grey civic's, but because the 2012's+ are not included in the statement, it will not be covered. Being my vehicle only has around 20,000 miles, it genuinely worries me how well the paint will hold up over time. The honda factory warranty, as well as the extended warranty i purchased, will also not cover this defect. From my research, these cracks are caused by an improper painting process at the factory and will grow worse over time. I ask that honda look into this and expand the recall to include certain 2012+ honda civic models.

Fading paint on hood, roof, and truck of the vehicle. Not only have i seen the fading of paint on my car, but on many many other vehicles the same issue. I believe honda did a very poor paint job on these vehicles.

I leased a honda civic 2012-2015 ,in 2015 i bought the civic that i had leased for 3 years.in 2018 i started to notice the paint was looking dull in certain spots and starting to show a white ring like i dumped salt for melting ice all over it.i took it to the dealer and was told i missed the extended warranty on getting my civic painted and that i was notified by mail about the paint issue.i never received any notice from anyone regarding the paint coming off of my car. I asked the dealer and honda several times now to tell me when and to what address the notice was sent and to email the supposed notice that was mailed.nobody can answer me.supposedly it's through a 3rd party which they couldn't tell me the name of. I just paid off my 30,000 $car that now is worth marbles because it looks like garbage.i can't trade it in or sell it because it looks horrible and nobody wants a car that's missing paint everywhere.it's now 2020,i went online to investigate and turns out honda has been selling this defective paint/clearcoat to people for decades, says they notified their customers, even though they did not, and tries to make a deal with you to pay more money to them on a car that they should have never sold you to begin with.my offer, from honda, was to paint my car, minus the hood, for 600.00$they need it for 7-8 business days and i have to get and pay for my own rental.when they gave me this nonsense offer, they then told me i only have 30 days to schedule or their offer was off the table and i pay full price myself with no assistance from them.i want to know who , when and to what address this supposed notice about my car looking like junk in the future was sent.i want honda to fix the issue in full because it's their fault. I also want to join a class action suit with others getting screwed by honda.

Car clear coat is coming off on the trunk and roof in multiple locations. In areas where the clear coat is gone, the paint is now coming off. Vehicle is a 2012 honda civic purchased new in 2011. The problem first started in 2018 approximately 2 months after extended paint warranty expired. I contacted honda customer service and they would not cover the repair costs and said there was no known paint defect for my vehicle year/model. The paint is degrading at an alarming rate. The problem started when the vehicle was 7 years old. The problem is not consistent with normal wear and tear. I have owned 2 other honda's and never had a paint issue. The numerous websites and facebook groups dedicated to honda paint problems suggests this is a known defect that honda has chosen not to address. The car is currently registered in florida and was previously in illinois and maryland. The car was typically washed once a month at a car wash or by hand and waxed at least twice per year. Since the problem started, i no longer wash the exterior since that exacerbates the paint degradation.

Upon impact the airbag deployed and i had 3 rib fractures and a fractured sternum.i am currently having bursar knee pain.i was taken by ambulance to an emergency room and was later sent to a trauma center er.i had one overnight hospitalization.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Paint coming off of car.was told i was notified by a letter in mail.never was.asked for when it was mailed, asked rip what address it was sent and also asked for a copy of this supposed notification to be emailed to me. Was told by multiple honda people they don't have that information....it's because they did not send it.i was never told that this would happen by anyone !

I recently had my honda civic detailed and the gentleman pointed out small lines in my paint that looked like pine needles or a bird had landed on the car while it was wet. This paint issue was not present when i purchased the car, but the issue is under the clear-coat so there was nothing the detailer could do. As previously pointed out by another complaint, these marks are growing larger and will hurt the future resell value of the car as well as possibly damage the hood if not fixed properly. This occurred through no fault of my own (driver). My vehicle is still under warranty, but am unsure what to do.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While driving at speeds below 40 mph and accelerating, the contact heard a grinding noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. No further information was available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.

Vibration and extreme roughness when shifting gear to reverse and drive.the motor mounts have been replaced in 2016, 2017, 2018.

Thank you.

I was traveling on elkridge landing road and merged right onto the ramp that merges to west nursery road.the ramp has a pot hole which based on its placement is extremely difficult to completely miss, i ran over it with my front driver side wheel.the impact immediately flattened my tire.i was forced to get the car towed to the closest shop and i had to pay for a new wheel as well as the diagnostics to ensure its completion.i have a bill in hand for $296.26 which i feel strongly that i should be compensated for as the payment was 100% the result of the condition of the road. I do not see any option for uploading an image of the bill; however, i am more than willing to submit a copy of it if need be.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic.the contact stated that the spare tire was causing a strong smell of rubber to be emitted throughout the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the smell increased during hotter weather. As a result, the contact was experiencing shortness of breath and nausea.the manufacturer was contacted and did not provide a remedy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician decided to wash the tire and spare tire housing with soap and water.the remedy failed to repair the problem. The failure mileage was 19,000 and the 35,357.

I was traveling on i-65 north at approx. 5:00 pm, there was no traffic around me at the time of the incident.suddenly the driver-side glass exploded.to my knowledge nothing hit it, the glass just suddenly and literally exploded.glass filled the car as well as hitting me.there are no other marks on the outside of the car that would explain something hitting the glass.

The tpms alert is always on even though the tires are inflated at the appropriate psi. I have taken my car to honda numerous times to get the tpms reset so that it would turn on only when necessary. Because the tpms alert is always on, i never know when the tire is low on air pressure. I took it to honda multiple times to correct this issue, but i was told that this has been a known issue with honda civics and that to get it fixed, it would cost $200-300 with the possibility that the tpms can act up like this again. This is a big safety concern because i once drove for miles and miles without knowing that one of my tires was at 14 psi. I had no idea that my tires were so flat because as mentioned previously, the tpms alert is always on. Honda needs to issue a safety recall on this if this is a known issue amongst honda civics and get this issue fixed.

The hood does not open.the latch has failed with only 80,000 miles and the official position of american honda is go screw yourself the car is a 2012 and has a salvaged title but it never had a salvaged title and they lie and never provided us any warranty services ever.we have owned over 10 hondas and they are unloyal.

The check tpms system warning light come on and off irregularly. Sometimes for a few days then off for a day, then on again. Tires and pressures are fine. No leaks.

The vehicle had a dragging noise coming from under the car and then a whole chunk of metal fell off from under the car

A/c condenser damaged by a rock, according to honda dealer, on my 2012 civic.my a/c blows warm heat, and the summer has just started! i've only had the car about 7 months. (bout used at 30k miles). Not covered under extended warranty. Insurance charges deductible, so no luck going that route for me. Honda quoted me a repair at $630 + tax. Will find it cheaper and just deal with, while still complaining for reimbursement or acknowledgement from honda that they got this wrong on several cars.

When the passenger side door arm rest is leaned on, the dashboard simulates "door open" and the interior light comes on. This happens when sitting still or moving.

2012 honda civic ex. Seal coat failure, mostly on roof with some paint peelage on door handle and spoiler also. This started 2 1/2 years ago and is getting progressivley worse. Honda will not rectify the issue although they are aware of paint defects and have covered a few models but not all models affected.

My car literally stop working out if nonwhere while it was in motion driving through an avenue. I thought it was the battery, tried to charged it and i did not work. Towed it to the mechanic, they changed the battery and the alternator, spent about 600 and still did not work. I ended up towing my car home from the mechanic place. I waited about a week, turned my car on, and it started working perfect. I took it to honda shop, the run some test and they said it does not have anything. A week ago it died again, tried to turned my car on again, and it work. I do not trust my car for driving anymore. I am afraid it will stop working out of non where. I

Gas inside gas tank not stable every time hit a brakegas will slam into inside wall of gas tank and can hear noise that like some thing felt inside gas tank and floating in there, and keep hit towall of gas tankevery time stop at speed from 1 to 10 mph.

All my knobs are melting.radio, air, etc.also the names are fading on the window and air conditioning.

The film on the back window apparently has come loose. I can no longer see out the back window.which appears to be a safety hazzard to me.this is when i am driving the vehicle on any street or highway.

Honda wont fix hood latch that fails to open and now has asked for a copy of my normal state title so that they can have the state make it a salvaged titled in error.they are dirty.they have never honor any warranty on the car and have said it is a salvage title when i bought it not as such a vehicle the local honda dealerships have ripped us off...please refer to consumer protection bureau too

I was driving home from work on a highway (though slowly, as there was traffic), when i noticed smoke from under the hood on the driver's side. I pulled over, got out of the car, and went to open the hood to see what was going on. As i went to open it, i saw flames, so i left it down, grabbed some belongings, got far away, and called 911. Within seconds, the flames engulfed the entire front end of the car. My car was well-maintained with regular service. There were no lights on the dashboard indicating that anything was amiss. I did not hear any unusual sounds preceding the flames, and the car had been handling the same as it always did.

Applied water from a garden hose to the roof of my car in an effort to remove leaves and other vegetative debris that was stuck to the body of the vehicle. When i applied water at regular pressure to the roof, large sections of paint came off of the roof. I have filed a case with american honda but they are arguing this particular paint color does not fall under the current class action lawsuit. However, it is very obvious the paint that was applied to the roof of my car failed due to a defect.

There is a latency delay between my phone and bluetooth of about 4 seconds and has been that way since i purchased the vehicle.

The sunlight reflection from the dashboard to the windshield makes some daylight driving difficult to see and reduce visibility.

The honda technician at manly honda, santa rosa, ca, said that there is a fault in the anti-theft section, causing the charging system to not function properly, such that the car cannot start after a few hours of not driving.he said they were incapable of fixing it.this issue became progressively worse over a three year period.

I believe it is the motor mount causing the vibrations when i start the car and back up. The vibrations stop when the car is put in drive. No more vibrations until next day and problem resumes. Car only has 28808 miles.

Whining noise in front left of motor when taking off in first gear. Read multiple complaints from other consumers having the same issues.

While trying to slow on a highway curve by pushing the brake, i was unable to do so. The car continued to speed up as i pushed the brake. I pulled my foot back and reapplied the brake with no affect, the car was continuing to speed up. I do not know if i removed my foot from the brake or just slammed the brake. The braketook hold the car jerked. I removed my foot from the brake and continued to drive. For a brief period i did not have control of the car.. This was not my first unexplained acceleration incident. The other 2 times i was slowing into a redlight by just removing my foot from the gas. The car slowed as i expected it to do then it just began to slowly speed up. I was not going down hill. The brakes worked and i was able to stop. The dealership was unable to duplicated those incidents.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I've had my 2012 civic for a little over a year now and have been experiencing the following issue right away: while maintaining speed at 1500 rpms, they suddenly jump to 2500 rpms, pause at the higher rpm for a few seconds and then come back down. I cannot recreate it at will, it happens while driving on flat and straight roads (as this is my usual drive to work and home), applying the break does not bring the rpms back down either.i have driven a decent amount of cars in my lifetime including a 2003 civic in the same trim as my current civic and none have acted this way.i realize a lot has changed since that '03 civic model, but no car should act like it has a mind of its own, which is exactly how it feels every time this occurs and leaves me with a very unsettling feeling while driving it.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. While driving approximately 2-3 mph and making a u-turn, the contact's vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into a parked vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.

My 2012 honda civic has intermittent problems with unintended acceleration. These occurrences only occur on the freeway and seem to occur more frequently when i am near sky harbor airport. The will suddenly go from 2 rpm to 7 rpm in a mannernot achievable by applying the gas pedal or any other method. Once the car reaches 7 rpm it will immediately go back down to 2 rpm and this cycle will occur two more times before the car will operate normally.

I have a 2012 honda civic lx, it has intermittent problems with unintended acceleration. It occurred twice on the highway and also urban area. Just this morning, it happened again i was on the highway when i noticed the car suddenly accelerates and speeds up without stepping the gas pedal. Fortunately the brakes responded to slow down.i came out of the highway, and i had to stop at a red light but still it was a constant fight acceleration by itself and stepping on the brake until the car will operate normally.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond to acceleration attempts. The contact also mentioned that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was not available. Driving up to a drive-in bank the car suddenly accelerated.i stopped the car a few feet beyond the teller window by a heavy application of the brakes. I put the car in reverse and backed up to the window. In reverse the engine was still racing.i put the car in neutral and the engine continued to race.upon finishing my banking transaction i put the car in drive. The engine slowed to a normal idlei took the car to the dealer for service four days later; the dealer found nothing abnormal.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while attempting accelerate, the vehicle failed to accelerate in a timely manner. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.

I was stopped in traffic when all of a sudden the car tried to accelerate even though my foot was firm on the brake pedal.i had to "stand" on the brake pedal and i immediately shifted into park.the engine reached a very high rpm until i jiggled the acceleration pedal.then the engine acted normally.the eco was not engaged and the cruise control was not engaged.mileage is 40,078 miles.

The car loses power when going up hills and has stalled twice. If i lightly bump the shift while driving it goes into neutral. I must use the emergency brake when parked even on a flat surface or the car will roll.

Contact owned a 2012 honda civic with 2363 miles at time of incident.before reaching a downtown intersection in the early evening one daylast month, contact was going to turn right southbound towards home nearby.the car suddenly made a loud revving noise and shot straight forward at terrifying speed. Contact stepped on the brake and steered to the right. The car did not stop and seemed to have a mind of its own. Contact could not see where it went but heard it hitting hard at objects until it finally stopped. Contact did not know how long had elapsed before she saw through a haze wisps of smoke coming out in front of the car and noticed the airbag was deployed. Fearing the car might catch fire, contact pushed open the door and found the car had stopped in the southbound lane right next to the raised concrete medium that separated north and southbound lanes.contact saw a black car on the northbound lane next to the raised medium with white side airbags deployed.police officers and paramedics were at the scene.contact and the other driver both sustained injuries.contact's car was later declared "a total loss" by the insurance company.contact was physically and mentally sound before and at the time of the incident and had a totally unblemished driving record in over 50 years.contact is unwavering in the belief that the incident was due to the vehicle's sudden unintended acceleration.contact had stressed this malfunction to the insurance company and also reported the incident to the american honda motors. Which contact believed had sent representatives to inspect the vehicle at the collision shop..

Sudden unintended acceleration : while my wife was driving the vehicle on the driving lane on i-5 south at about 60mph and i was at passenger's seat, my wife yelled "the car is getting faster and faster." and i told her to step on the brake. She said she was already peddling the brake but it did not work, and the car was approaching to a big truck in front of us with frightening speed. Since there were many cars in front, behind and on the passing lane at the time of the incident, we could not do anything else but steering the car to the right side off the driving lane in order to avoid fatal accident. There was space covered with rough grasses, bushes and soft fences there. The vehicle kept moving along, crashing the objects with high speed of about more than 85 mph. Finally the car stopped after going along more than 50 yards. As soon as the car stopped, we barely opened the doors and escaped from the terribly damaged car. The car's front side was facing backward, and i heard afterward that my wife used the hand brake to stop the car. Air bags of driver's and passenger's seat, and side airbag were deployed. Other three cars stopped at the scene off the lane, and advised us to remove valuables inside the car, because it may catch fire. They called 911, and fire fighters and the police arrived at the scene. I reported the accident to my insurance, dmv, and honda usa. My wife's right knee got bruise, and i have light pain on the left side of my neck and chest. My wife is panic, and afraid of driving. I am also very much shocked. I know honda would not easily admit the defect of the car, even though it will investigate the car. But i swear to god that the sua took place. Now i believe that sua occurs without driver's maloperation of the car, because there was absolutely no misoperation of the car. I please request nhtsa consider this incident very seriously. Thanks

The contact 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the engine rpm increased excessively and the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 37,500.

My honda civic ex-l 2012 failed to accelerate from a stopped or idling position. This has happened approximately five times in the three weeks i have owned the vehicle (current odometer reading as of this writing is 650 miles). I have noticed it most often when attempting to accelerate from a stopped or idling position to make a left hand turn. However the left hand turn may be more noticeable as i am turning into oncoming traffic/crossing lanes and the failure to accelerate, and the collision risk the failure imposes, are most alarming. I have also noticed a lack of gas pedal 'responsiveness' when stopped or idling and attempting to roll forward slightly as one would attempt to do in a line of vehicles. Of note, my husband has a honda civic lx 2012 which he has owned for five months. The same failure to accelerate from a stopped or idling position has occurred while i was driving his vehicle approximately three times. He has not noticed it, but almost all of his mileage is highway driving.i intend to bring my vehicle to the dealer this week to have this potential safety hazard investigated.

I have problem with my 2012 civic rpm , especially while clamping hill, it will suddenly lose power before picking up . The rpm will go up to 4000. While going down the hill it just accelerate even if i step on brake. When i start the car in the morning , it accelerate itself. I consider this model of honda as dangerous.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while traveling 35 mph, the vehicle erroneously accelerated. The contact had to use excessive force on the brakes in order to get the vehicle to an increase to an acceptable speed. The contact was able to merge to the side of the road and the vehicle was able to be driven to the contact's destination. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were 800.

Sudden high rpm when exciting highway ramp, engines rpm,s go up to 4 or 5,when applying brake.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while exiting a garage, he shifted into drive and then reverse when the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. The contact was unable to stop the acceleration and crashed into a fence, a wall and a building. The contact had to power the engine off in order to stop the vehicle from accelerating any further. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The contact sustained injuries to the right ankle.the vin was not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 25,000.

While driving on the highway at 50mph at 2500rpm all of a sudden my rpm went to 4000 without me accelerating morei got scared and tried to slowly slow down the vehicle but rpm remained at 4000. And it remained like that till i stopped the vehicle and restarted it.

While the air conditioner was activated, a ringing noise was heard through the vents. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

I was driving on the interstate on a very cold morning, i was in the right lane, no one was even around me and all of a sudden i hear a load pop, i looked over & my passengers side, 'vent window' had shattered into a million pieces. It did stay in tact but honda dealer says something must have hit it. I personally think the vent blowing the warm air on the cold window effected it. This may be a little window but it's not cheap to fix. I am wondering if there have been any other complaints regarding this...

The windshield wipers do not wipe the windshield. The wipers smear the water and decrease the visibility. At night this is very dangerous when car lights reflectand obstruct the drivers vision. I have had the wipers replaced twice and no solution. The dealer has no solution to the problem. Can you help ?

The contact stated that the rear passenger's side window was beginning to fail in the same manner. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made away of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The contact owns a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the defroster and rear defroster were activated during inclement weather.the front and rear windshields were icy and would not completely clear until twenty minutes later. The heating element within the defroster and rear defroster would not operate properly unless activated for at least twenty minutes.

While driving down 101s at about 60mph on a clear evening i heard a loud pop noise - the next day i realized my sunroof glass 'exploded'. Fortunately when it happened the sunshade was pulled shut so no glass fell into my car. I don't know what caused the glass to break but i am positive it wasn't a flying object that hit it.

Check tpms system warning kept coming back after sensor has been replaced twice.

Low tire pressure light indicator is malfunctioning. Even after adding the recommended amount of air pressure into my tire, within about amonth the low tire pressure indicator light will turn back on. This has been going on for several months. I brought my car to honda of seattle three times for the same problem, and explained the issue to elizabeth, service dept rep. She provided written documentation that there apparently are several other customers having this same problem. She said the cold temperature/weather affects the pressure of the tires and can trigger the sensor. According to her, as the weather warms up, the problem should go away. It's now spring in seattle and the low tire pressure indicator continues to malfunction. Elizabeth has in fact told me that a wheel balance will solve the problem, which i agreed to have done and paid over $100 thinking it will solve this annoying issue. But to my disappointment, she was wrong and the problem has not gone away.

The tpms system will not turn off.the car has brand new tires and costs $99 to scan the problem.

We bought the car,we been driving it normally and the airbag light comes on every time we start the car for the past week

Purchased my civic with defective wheel bearing. I only found out about this, after i put my self in danger when a honda employee guaranteed the problem was minimal, it was only worn tire noise and i could drive. I drove it out of the state back and forth, on my way back home i had to stop several times as the noise was pretty annoying and my instincts was that i had to stop every so often until i took it to another honda dealer. It was then when they said i should have never driven this car so far away, the wheel bearings were in pretty bad shape. My husband and i wrote a letter to honda, asking that better training was offered to employees giving wrong advice and insisting we had to get used to the noise instead of caring for our safety, but nothing happened and we never heard from them. Five months later, the same thing happen, we took it to the closest honda and we were told the same old story, the problem is a worn tire. Now since we are familiar with the noise, we took it to the first honda who fixed it the first time, and the part was replaced again. It is very scary that honda is selling cars with defective parts, not just any part, but wheel bearings, parts that could get you killed. I wonder if honda will do anything about this, and if i the money i pay every month for this car, will allow me to drive in peace.
