Takata recalljuly 06, 2019 about a year ago my airbag light came on while i was driving the vehicle, but itturned off immediately.it never came back on until recently and the airbag light stays lit on the dash. My vehicle in question is a 2009 honda civic. The airbag code i get when i scan the vehicle is a "code 33-10 open in the left side curtain airbag firstinflator."airbags in vehicles should not go bad for no reason especially curtain airbags.this airbag went bad (defective). I went online and i saw that a lot of people have issues with the same issues as i do on honda vehicles. I was about to sell my car and now that the airbag light came, then i will not be able to sell my vehicle. My 2009 honda civic had 115,000 miles when the airbag light first came on in the dash.i would really appreciate that someone looks into this matter. Thisissue should be a recall.thank you.

Takata recall - i received a notice from honda that my airbag has been recalled. I called to schedule an appointment to have it fix. I was told by superior honda that it will be a few weeks before the part is available and another few weeks until they can get my car in to be fixed. I was then told that it's not that big of a deal since it was just my passenger airbag. I explained to the service tech that if it wasn't a big deal there wouldn't have been a recall on the part. He then told me that there was nothing else he could do for me. He could not provide me with a rental car but continued to tell me that it was no big deal and if i had any further questions to call honda corporate office. I understand that it is the passenger side airbag but i feel like they should have been able to provide me with a date of when this issue would be resolved. I understand that this recall effected many vehicles but this issue is not being resolved as fast as it should be. I have spoken to many people who have the same issue and many of them have been provide with rental cars due to the fact it going to take longer than normal to fix. I feel like superior honda could have done more for me instead of telling me that it was "no big deal". I am very unhappy with this dealership.

I was hit on the passenger side of the car by an suv. The repairs were with genuine honda parts but ever since then the front controls where the radio is has been extremely hot. Almost to the point i think i burn my hands to change the radio station. I think it may be hot enough to start a fire with melting the controls in the back. I have been told there is nothing that can be done or it will cost me a lot of money to diagnose it. I just see it as a safety issue to have the dash so hot it burns people. The passenger airbag did not deploy in the crash and possibly should have.

Takata recalli have spoken to honda and they have no estimate for when the replacement passenger airbag parts will be available. The backorder is so large that they aren't even able to accommodate the order itself at this time. Their solution is to have nobody ride in the passenger seat until parts are available. For a family of four with only one car, this is not acceptable. They are putting us in danger and refusing to take full responsibility by trying to pass us off to the dealership.

Air bag light stays on all the time

Takata recall...just rec'd he recall notice airbags & fuel system...called honda and.....i think it is extremely unreasonable and unrealistic to send out a recall notice without an immediate resolution.honda's suggestion is to not carry passengers in the front seat...which again..is unreasonable and unrealistic...if they are not able to fix this safety issue then they should provide a safe vehicle as a replacement until it is fixed.i hold honda fully responsible and liable for any injuries or death that may result from their neglectful act.

Takata recall - i was informed in may that my car was part of the takata recall.the letter stated there should be replacement parts in by the end of the summer.i live in houston, texas, a very hot and humid city.i was informed that cars in hot humid cities are most at risk of the bags going off when they should not.considering i live in such a hot, humid city is is very concerning that it is november and honda has still not informed me that a replacement part is in so i can get my car fixed. It should not take this long to remedy a dangerous air bag defect.if i'm at a danger driving my car at all i want to know and i want this fixed.

Takata recallwhy is the parts for this taking so long? i received a letter in july indicating the parts will become available in late summer/fall and to avoid having a passenger sitting in the front seat. Is there an eta on the available parts?

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. While operating the vehicle, a loud popping sound was heard and smoke suddenly appeared from under the front passenger seat. It was later discovered that the front passenger seat belt would not operate and the air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 95,000.

2009 honda civic never in an accident. In feb 2019 he airbag light came on. Front airbags were previously replaced under takita recall. I was told the passenger seat side airbag had to be replaced for "a part that just fails over time" and was not part of the recall. I paid $1100 to have it replaced. Two months later andthe airbag light is on again and i fear it is now the driver side curtain airbag that has failed and i will have to put another $1100 into a car for failure of a safety part. The car has 112,000 miles and i just paid an additional $1400 for rear breaks, shocks, etc., which i consider routine maintenance. I could have put$3600 down on a new car. Now i am already into this car for $2500 and fixing the airbag is non-negotiable. It needs to be done. I would be curious to know how many other people are having side airbag issues with honda vehicles. Also, the paint is peeling off the vehicle! started peeling 6 months after the warranty was up so honda not responsible.

Takata recall.i have received notice that the airbag inflator has to be repaired/replaced in my honda.i will not under any circumstances use any of the honda dealers/service centers in my area because they all discriminate against the disabled (i am disabled).i have asked honda to allow me to use my own service station instead.they have refused.this is an important safety issue and honda's primary concern should be to fix this problem but they seem unwilling to do so in this case.furthermore, since they have refused to take any action against the dealerships, it is my belief that honda condones discrimination against the disabled.

Takata recall. I received a safety recall notice in march 2017 and have contacted honda of santa monica, 1414 18th street, santa monica, ca 90404-2804, phone (310) 264-4900, to make an appointment to replace the airbag inflator. The dealer has not responded to my repeated requests for an appointment.

After numerous visits to ocean honda of burlingame to discuss that the car i purchased was never actually completely "properly certified" as was discussed; and the fact that i brought it in numerous times. - i have had no cooperation. Please verify with lisa mendez who just verified to sales mgr van that the car has been probelematic since purchase and should be traded out. I do not feel and have not felt i'm driving a completely safe or dependable car. Most recent visit to discuss issues was 09/06/19 and i had been there already 3 times within the previous 2 weeks for continuing issues with lights coming on after i had service and after i had asked if there was anything needed . I was told i was all good !!... Now just spent $460 to find out that i need $1700 work and there are recalls i wasn't notified about. There is previous documented complaint i filed on this car a long while back. I have been trying to get them to take it back since i got it due to one thing or another. Just doesn't feel stable or secure. They should take it back and deal with it themselves. Initial complaint logged was due to a replaced seal of some sort that they broke and replaced again, i was driving and it started making a burning smell. They replaced again, but still seems not right and engine hazard lights come on -- and they clear them and tell me its ok.... Does not feel ok, and was not ok. I am not waiting for an accident to happen however my numerous visits and pleas to exchange and take back the car have gone upon deaf ears and they (sales) have now become rude. I feel like dropping off the car to them and giving them the keys and they can deal with it however i'm so upset that i "must have a car" so i am trying to find a new car now and having no lock since my credit is ruined.

I have a red light for the airbag

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. After a passenger entered the vehicle and fastened the front passenger seat belt, the contact heard a loud noise and saw smoke emitted from the front passenger seat belt. There was no visible fire or burning odor. The fire department was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to honda of fayetteville (1384 w showroom dr, fayetteville, ar 72704). A diagnostic test was not performed, but an unknown component was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. After starting the vehicle, the air bag indicator illuminated and another indicator illuminated, indicating that the passenger air bag was off. The srs light intermittently comes on display on the dashboard. Honda dealership ran a diagnostic test twice and determined it was a faulty cable reel. The car has never been in a major accident and has never had an airbag deployed. Honda explained that the cable reel is a "bad part", and quoted repair estimates at 700 dollars for part and service. Honda warned that there is a 50 percent chance that the airbag will not deploy in the event of an automobile accident. Honda company refuses to cover the cost and service of replacing the cable reel due to expired warranty for airbag parts (2-year warranty). After much research, it appears that many honda automobiles (especially honda civics manufactured around 2009) are having the same issue. This is a critical safety issue and liability for the company to sell cars and advertise their products as durable, when in fact safety features become faulty after a few years. It is concerning that honda is selling and marketing products with compromised safety systems that become defective after a couple years of use. I have filed a complaint through honda, and i would like to have the issue investigated by nhtsa.

I bought it like that

Takata recall. My complain is the honda manager 'jose dominguez ' is not handling things professionally. I made a appointment with a honda representative because i have a recall on my 2009 honda civic. I made the appointment with her and she told me she'd be able to get me a car to use because a shuttle wouldn't work. I show up on my appointment date march 12 at 7:30. They told me they couldn't give me a car as i was under 21. I understand that but no one communicated with me that you had to be at least 21 years of age. So i was very upset as i had to wake up early when it could've been avoided if i got asked the right questions. Second complaint, james dominguez (santa fe honda manager) wants me to come when i'm working to bring in my car but i cannot do that becausei have to stay on the job site. I explained that to him. He says, 'that's your fault because you don't have time to bring it in'. I only have sundays available, which i told him, but he said he can't accommodate me. So i don't know what to do about this air bag recall because i don't have time to take it in.

I was currently in an accident. I was driving my 2009 honda civic2 door coupe. The accident accrued due to wet road conditions, which caused me to lose control and 360 on a highway and slam into an embankment and roll over 4 times. As i was injured thank god it was not life threatening, as it could of been. I was surprised after the accident that none of my air bags deployed. I do understand that there are sensors on the cars but every angle of thecar had some type of impact, so, why only two air bags deployed on the passenger side front and back window when there was no one in the passenger seat. I was the only one in the car and of course i was the driver in the driver seat. My concern that someone in the future will not be as lucky as me and get seriously hurt due to a defect with the air bags and sensors. It makes me think about honda and there cars and i could never get back in a honda again cause next time i may not be so lucky. I am concerned for honda drivers and wanted to make a complaint about the air bags that i believe to have a defect that needs to be corrected for the safety and well being of others out there on the road. I purchased a honda civic because it is know to be thesafest car out there with its safety features, but after the accident i questioned that fact. So, i hope honda will consider taking a look at this and correct the issue for the well being of other honda drivers.

Takata recall:as of october of 2016 i have been to pensacola honda to try and get my recall complete. The first appointment they made me aware that i would have to order a part since the housing was broken, so i did. The 2nd appointment they informed me that the part was still in and i was given incorrect information. It is now april and i have not received any follow ups nor have i gotten my recall taken care of. I am unable to drive my honda due to fear of the defect and i have a newborn baby so no one could ever ride in the passenger seat with me. I have attempted calling them several times and am always unable to get responses or call backs. So any help at all would be grateful. How can i get honda to take care of my car???

Takata recall. Honda gave notification in july 2016 that the passenger airbag needed to be replaced. "honda suggests that you avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the recall repair can be performed." this is unacceptable. Honda said that "the remedy parts needed to conduct passenger frontal airbag inflator recalls will become available in late summer/fall of 2016." it is now november and parts are still not available. This is unacceptable. Honda needs to provide a replacement vehicle if they cannot provide the necessary repairs in a timely manner.

The contact owned a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that while the driver was driving about 40-50 mph, the vehicle rear-ended another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. There was no police report filed. The driver sustained chest pain and was taken by ambulance. The other two passengers sustained contusions from the seat belts and required medical attention. The vehicle was totaled and was towed to an auto body shop where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor was damaged and sensed that the air bag did deploy. The technician also noticed that the air bag and the seat belt warning lights were on. The seat belt was replaced. The technician stated that the air bag sensor also needed to be repaired. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic for the air bag sensor repair. The contact stated that even though the vehicle was totaled the owner retained ownership of the vehicle and was able to do the repairs with the settlement amount from the insurance company. The dealer was not called. The contact called the manufacturer and left messages but the contact was not called back. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

Airbag defect.

Air bag light came on less than two weeks from purchase date...... Could cause safety issues in case of an accident.

My honda civic was hit on the drivers side door by a ford ranger pickup truck.i was driving northbound on a city street in san luis obispo, ca and the truck was heading southbound and attempted to make a left hand turn across the lane that i was occupying when i was hit.the driver airbag in the truck deployed, but the side curtain airbag in my civic did not deploy.i was injured by broken glass and impact of my left arm & shoulder against the driver door.the impact for was sufficient to bend both the a-pillar and b-pillar into the passenger compartment. I believe that the side curtain airbag in my civic was defective.note that a local honda dealership offered to run a diagnostic test, but since the vehicle is drivable, and was towed to a car storage yard after the accident, the dealer was unable to inspect the vehicle.

I was the driver of a 2009 honda civic ex coupe. I was at a red light and i had came to a complete stop and i got rear ended and pushed into the vehicle in front of me very hard to the point where my insurance company even declared my vehicle a total loss. I have neck injuries and possibly soft tissue injuries from the impact of how i was hit (whiplash). I am going to therapy (chiropractor and physical therapy because i am in alot of pain every day. The air bags did not deploy/ and my husband who was the passenger got hurt too.

Got hit in the side from making a u turn, moderate speed. Concern is that my son, who was driving, reported that the airbags deployed but did not inflate. He bumped his head (no personal injury reported), which is how he knows the bags never inflated.

I got a recall notice and trying to call and schedule the repair for last one year. The recall notice clearly says i will get a free loaner vehicle but every time i talk to dealership or honda customer care they deny the claim and say that i am not able to get a loaner vehicle during the repair. The notice letter also suggested that i can schedule the repair and get a loaner vehicle by texting at [xxx]. But when i texted the person deny it and suggested that i need to talk to customer care or honda dealership. Which i already did and they deny me the loaner vehicle. I want compensation for my time and also want my repair to be done and i want a loaner vehicle as suggested in the notice letter.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I am a care giver to my elderly mother (87) whom is unable to sit in the back ofmy small civic. If for any reason i have to go somewhere with my mom i would needa rental car. But after contacting honda corp. They are not willing to pay for rental when theydon't feel responsible . Anyone riding in passenger side could have been killed if an accident ocured but they are not responsible. Adding to my stress already under caring for my altheimer mother. I guess i'm lucky they are going to get it in within eight days wow .. Why are they not being investigated and repaying owners for there inconveince.

Takata recall:no notice ever received!our 2009 honda civic was purchased by us in september of 2008, and our phone number and physical address have not changed in the 10 years since then.as of today, may 7, 2018, a call to honda of america's customer service phone number still associates both our phone number and address with this vehicle.the washington post (4/23/18) quotes honda of america executive vice president rick schostek as saying, 'we're good at repairing vehicles, but finding and convincing customers of older model vehicles to complete recalls, now that has proved a difficult challenge.'is he implying that we were notified that the vehicle needed to be repaired?we never received a notification.honda has our physical address, phone number, email, and the local dealer still sends regular notices to that same email address.the vehicle title was switched to our son's name about 5 years ago.he lives a couple of miles from us, and he has never received a notification either.so how did we find out that the car's airbags were recalled?a law firm sent a postcard to his home asking him to join in a class action lawsuit against honda of america.guess it wasn't so hard to find the car's owner if unsolicited attorneys can find them!

Takata recallsince receiving a safety recall notice in the mail this past july 2016, i have made several attempts to talk with the service manager at bob howard honda in edmond, ok. I have left several voice messages and have not obtained a response as of the writing of this. Over three months of waiting for a response has driven me to formally file a complaint and i seek your assistance in getting this issue resolved.

The contact was advised that he would be notified when the parts were available. The dealer was also informed that if the sensor light was illuminated none of the air bags in the vehicle would work in the event of a crash.the contact is concerned about the significant safety risk.the failure and current mileages were 30,500.

The driver's side airbag deployed while driving about five miles per hour in downtown philadelphia.no impact happened, no pothole was hit.the honda place where i lease the car is blaming it on a 4 inch square piece of asphalt stuck somewhere under the car.that did not happen when the airbag depolyed.my insurance company has filed a claim and will examine the car.

Hello,i have a 2009 honda civic. Evry time i drive it for more then an hour or so, the gear shift base where the n,rf etc is written, gets hot. Also, the instrument panel where the cd player is gets really hot. The dealer tells me it is ok, there is no problem. I find it hard to believe as i don't want to be on the hwy with my family and the car catches on fir or something.how could this be normal. Please help.

1. The car would not turn over when you turn the key after the car had been driving for a while.2. Came out one morning and car would not turn over called aaa and dealer, checked the battery green light was bright got car to start and went to dealer, 3. They said starter was bad and replaced with a new one under warranty.about 3 to 4 weeks later problem came back and was able to start car and took to dealer again and this time they could not find any problem they just noted it and awaiting for the issue to happen again.

Twice now our 2009 honda civic lx has failed to start when we turn the key.the battery light comes on as if the battery is dead.both times, i tapped the gas and the car started with no problems.also both occurrences happened when our weather was very cold.this is our first winter with this new car and it would be really horrible if this were to be an on-going issue.we have an appointment to take it to the dealership under warranty to check the battery but like the above complaints, i have a feeling they will find nothing wrong.the car runs fine once it finally starts.my husband stated that tapping the gas ona fuel injection car is not good but it seems like this is the only way to start the car.we have had this car maybe 6 months and we don't drive constantly.i drive to work which is about 3 miles away and only part time.

My 2009 honda civic will often not start on days where the vehicle has been sitting for several hours in temperatures below 55 degrees fahrenheit. Even when the vehicle does start, it struggles to fire up, and the idle is rough for a few seconds. The honda dealership tested the battery and stated that it was good; the indicator light on the battery itself also revealed that the battery is fine. I believe honda supplied batteries with insufficient cold cranking amps. This problem only manifests itself in "cold" temperatures. This is not an isolated issue, i have spoken with multiple individuals with late model honda civics with the same problem.

I purchased my brand new 2009 honda civic ex less than 4 months ago.for the first 2 months the car seemed to be running fine then unexpectedly the battery started to randomly die.this happened 4 times in 2 days which prompted me to bring the car back to the honda dealership for a service check up.they ran a diagnosis on the battery and on the charging system.everything seemed to check out ok so for a temporary fix they gave me a new battery.less than a month later the problem happened again, the battery randomly died.i took the car back to the dealership and explained to them that i didn't think it was an issue with the battery since this had already happened once.once again they ran a battery and charging test, which tested out fine.the mechanic told me that he thought it was happening because i do not drive my car enough.this should not be the case since this is a brand new car.

I own a 2009 honda civic hybrid.i've had issues with low power and halting acceleration due to low battery conditions accompanied with the dash engine light coming on.honda dealership has applied software updates to my vehicle to address this twice, but those simply trade mileage for battery life, degrading the value of a hybrid.i believe that the ima battery has known problems and that honda is not addressing the issue.i'm afraid to merge onto highways with a low battery due to the lack of power and acceleration.

The center (interior) brake light works intermittently. Many others have had same problem. Only affects ex model led light assembly. It is unsafe and costly fix. It should be recalled.

The a/c relay switch has been replaced several times and now i'm having to replace the actual ac switch on the compressor due to it bogging my engine down every time i turn it on and it still won't blow cold air.this has been a continued issue and i've seen a lot of post online about it. So why hasn't it been recalled or something done about it.

While braking, the car starts to regenerate (charge the hybrid battery) and then a short burst of assist (electrical drive from the hybrid battery) while my foot is on the brake. This happens about twice a week and is extremely dangerous since i sometimes get into stop-and-go traffic. This means that i could be braking and the car will accelerate, possibly hitting the car in front of mine.

This concerns a 2009 honda civic si coupe with a manual transmission.car was purchased new.when you take your foot off the throttle, the engine rpms do not instantly drop nor does the car slow down due to the "driveby wire"throttle programming preventing the throttle from closing for a few seconds.the dealer acknowledged that this indeed was happening and could due nothing about it.

2009 honda civic hybrid ima and engine light on, service recoded the ecu and gas mileage has gone down to 24.battery was replaced and engine was recoded twice again and still the mileage is down to 24.i have found service bulletins on the car for batteries and excessive high temperatures.car has been to the service center three times for this same concern. 12/04/09, 12/10/09 and 12/14/09, all for ima light on.

When i driving on the road,!the speed dometer come down and the car couldn't go , i tried to push the gas pedal so the rpm went up high, but the car not go forward anymore. Then i stopped shifted to part and shifted back to drive and go forless than half mile then it happen again. Iit happen in the high way and citystreets.10

Honda is calling in hch owners for a software update to "preserve the battery."the result of this software update essentially shutsthe ima battery down frequently, leaving the car to run on just the motor which was intended to run with the ima.aside from the "switch and bate" issues (mileage dropped below a standard civic), the safety issue involved is a frequent lack of acceleration capability, especially on an incline or merging into traffic.

My 2009 honda civic lx is having a hard time starting.

The integrated motor assist (ima) system in my 2009 honda civic hybrid erratically charges and discharges hybrid battery pack, causing serious drivability issues. The problem first developed at about 8000 miles when the original hybrid battery pack failed. Replacement of the hybrid battery pack and numerous attempts to re-program the ima control software have not corrected the problem. It has continued and worsened through the present mileage of about18000. Acceleration continues to be hesitant, jerky, and extremely weak without the hybrid system operating correctly. The car is dangerous to drive on the interstate because the ima system may be charging a low hybrid battery even when acceleration is needed. In those circumstances there is no power available to accelerate the car. This is opposite of the way the ima should work. In addition, gas mileage has dropped from an average of 43 mpg when the car was new to an average of 34 mpg. The vehicle has been into a honda dealership 7 times over 20 months for work on this problem. The honda service technicians have described the car as scary to drive and stated i've never seen one do that before?. American honda claims the car is operating as designed and will authorize no further work. With its poor service history, honda dealers are not interested in taking the car in on trade, leading to a substantial loss of value.

Daughter was driving to work on 27 dec 09. On her way she began to smell smoke in vehicle, but attributed it to the outside air. Upon arriving at work, she went into the building put her personnel items away and went outside. A few of her co-workers told her that her car alarm was going off. She went back into the building to retrieve her keys, went to her car and found out that the alarm had stopped, but there was smoke in the car. At that time she open her trunk and found an open flame fire in the vicinity of the passenger side rear speaker. At which time she called geico (employer) security, called 911 and security put out the flame with a hand held fire extinguisher. Vehicle was returned to hughes honda, warner robins, ga on 28 dec 09 for disposition. Later that day i was informed by the service manager that he could not do anything and i needed to contact american honda. American honda than informed me that this was not their problem and that they were not going to communicate with me and/or do anything about this and that i needed to report the claim to state farm insurance. Multiple attempts by myself and state farm led to honda not responding to any request and a decision was made on 21 jan 10 that state farm was going to get the vehicle repaired at central georgia collision, but i was going to have to tell hughes honda to release the car to them. I went by hughes honda at 1115 hours 21 jan 10 to inform them of such and was told by the service manager (by cell phone) that honda had removed my car and was going to take care of the problem. Talked to general manager and owner of hughes honda on 29 jan 10 and told them that this was not acceptable in that no one had investigated and informed me of where the fire started, what the ignition source was, how this impacts diminshed value and was the car safe. Picked up car on 4 feb 10, with honda informing me that this was all they were willing to do and the only reason the car was repaired by them was to get parts.

I purchased a new 2009 honda civic lx-s from heritage honda of westminster, md on 7/30/2009 for my 18 year old daughter's birthday. During the test drive the vehicle operated fine with no apparent issues. Upon leaving the dealership (with my 3 children and wife as occupants) and as my daughter pulled on to maryland route 140 from the dealership lot, the engine stopped. She tried to restart the engine, however there was no response. You could hear the starter solenoid chattering like it would if the battery was near dead. This left the car stalled with 3/4 of the vehicle sitting in the right lane of a heavily traveled, 4 lane divided highway with other vehicles traveling 45 + mph approaching, leaving the (now terrified) occupants lives in danger. Severalattempts were madeto restart the car without success. The car had to be pushed to safety by myself (i was following in another car) and another dealership customer. It is truly amazing given the volume of traffic which travels this divided highway that my family walked away from this incident with only emotional trauma. I then took the car to the vehicle service department where they diagnosed the battery as defective (internally shorted). The battery was replaced by the dealer and as of this time the car is functioning normally. I know that having this happen with a new battery is very rare. There is however the risk that honda has many more vehicles out there on the road or on dealer lots yet to be sold, which have batteries with similar defects.

I have owned a 2009 honda civic hybrid since 12/8/08 and have had numerous problems with the battery and the hybrid system.on october 5, 2009, as i was entering an on-ramp in arlington, va, the ima system completely failed and the regular internal combustible engine (ice) revved to over 4500 rpm to provide power on the on-ramp due to there being no ima assistance.without the hybrid power assist, i was nearly hit by other traffic.at that time, the ima warning light and check engine light illuminated.i brought the vehicle to ourisman and they spent several days getting a new ima battery system ordered and installed, claiming there was a bad cell in the 10-month old ima battery.in nov and dec 09, i discovered the car battery dead twice in the garage.on the night of february 13, 2010, the electrical system (battery and hybrid drive) failed on a busy street off of military rd, nw.the car was backing out of a driveway into the road when it completely died.as there was no power for hazard lights, i personally directed traffic around the dead car until i could get a jump.after a battery jump, i tried to charge the battery for a time, but when i put the car into reverse, the car died again and i had to get a second jump.15 minutes later, i disconnected the cables and drove to ourisman honda in bethesda, md.on the way, the vehicle almost died twice but i was able to get the car to ourisman honda.they replaced the battery, but a week later on february 23, 2010, the car died again and i was barely able to get it to ourisman honda for service again.after several days, they identified the problem as being with the relay near the hybrid system.the car still acts strangely and they hybrid assist does not work as well as it used to.acceleration is not normal, the hybrid assist does not come on at normal times, and there are incidents of acceleration and engine revving when i release the gas to brake before a stop sign.

2009 honda civic hybrid. Consumer requests immediate replacement of a defective battery pack. *tgwthe consumer stated the (ima) integrated motor assist light illuminated. The diagnosis indicated a battery condition monitor module intermittent malfunction.the light illuminated again two months later. Although, each visit resulted in electrical repairs with specific code reviews, recalibrations, clearance and resetting, the underlying condition still has not been resolved.

I currently am the lessee of a 2009 honda civic hybridstarting this january, the hybrid battery charge level goes from almost full (8-10 out of 10 bars) to virtually zero (1 bar) every other week (the technical term for this is a "recall" or recalibrating). This summer, it started happening every 3-4 days, and whenever i had the a/c on. Then, it started to happen every 100 miles (which made it very predictable). The problem is that when in the 'recall' state, the car is almost unresponsive and does not accelerate much, if at all. This poses a safety hazard especially when making left turns when the oncoming traffic has a blind spot, or is coming around a corner. It also impacts fuel efficiency substantially. I have seen about a 7 mile-per-gallon drop in fuel economy. I took the car to the dealer who told me that there were no codes in the system but there were 3 software updates, so they installed those and that if i still had the problem, to come back. I still have the problem so i schedule the appointment and i take the mechanic for a test drive and he sees the charge drop rapidly and states that it's completely normal. I argue that is happens too often and he still says "it's fine."about 3 weeks later the ima light and 'check engine' light come on. Turns out, it was a blown fuse (for the a/c electric drive, fuse #22) so they replace it, and tell me that they checked the current draw on the a/c just to be safe and claimed everything was fine.now, about 2 weeks later, every time i start the car it does a recall. This is beyond annoying and now i'm starting to see drops of about 10 mpg because of this problem, as opposed to the previous 6 or 7.i'm thinking that honda knows that their nimh battery cells are prone to premature failure and will not do anything to fix the issue.

My 2009 civic has a problem that has affected many other eighth generation civics: the a/c relay is faulty and is of a poor design and/or manufacture. The a/c relay is known to fail very prematurely and cause the compressor for the air conditioner to spin/cycle continuously or stay on (even when the a/c is not turned on), and thus cause the compressor to heat up tremendously and fail, which causes mechanical damage inside the cooling system. There are countless stories online, in car forums, and at honda dealerships and repair shops to back this assertion.not only does this substandard a/c relay cause expensive damage that is not easily repaired (how does a 4 hour tear-down and reassembly sound?), but it represents a potential safety hazard since the relay is faulty and may cause issues not only with the rest of the electrical system (including the fuse box where it is located) but also because of the tremendous heat that a faulty relay generates when it causes the compressor to continuously cycle. The metal of the compressor actually changed color when it continuously cycled on my car, and is a telltale sign of this ever common failure. Honda is aware of this issue but has not seen fit to address it though tsbs/recalls for other models have been issued.

2009 honda civic. Consumer writes in regards to engine block crack on vehicle. *ldthe consumer stated the vehicle should be repaired under warranty.updated 10/24/2017

While driving a chatter started under the hood. Drove it to our mechanic (1 to 2 miles away) and he said the steel bolt broke that holds the belt tensioner to the aluminum engine. Had it fixed and the same thing happened on august 8, 2013 while driving. This time the car shut down completely and i was able to safely stop it and call for a tow. Took it to the mechanic again and he said upon talking to honda dealers, this happened in 2006 and 2007 and there was a recall for this problem. There is no recall yet for this problem fora 2009 honda civic and no permanent fix. I am concerned that the car just quits while in motion, the power steering is gone and the brake assist is gone, which puts life at risk. Can this be looked into?

Our 2009 honda civic si i purchased with my son began overheating on the highway on his way to work. We immediately took it to our regular mechanic & they thought it was a water pump issue, but upon further inspection discovered the engine block was cracked & leaking coolant. He also found for us, an american honda service bulletin that says honda civics, years 2006-2009, are eligible for a new installed engine block at honda's expense, if your vin shows as eligible. We had it towed to brookdale honda, our regular dealer & repair shop where we have purchased 5 vehicles. They too, thought it was the water pump so we had that repaired at a cost of $730. We picked it up on saturday april 22, 2017, only to have the same issue that night again on the way home from work. Temperature was getting extremely hot, leaking coolant, & the engine was smelling. We brought it back to the dealer again on monday april 24th, & it was not inspected until tuesday april 25. My service advisor called & asked me what the problem was...i told him the same thing as before, temperature gauge getting very hot/leaking coolant/engine smelling. I mentioned that our mechanic said to look for an engine block leak in the same location as the cracked engine block shows in the 10-048 honda extended warranty s.b. Campaign picture shows. Sure enough, he looks there and calls me to say what i already knew. However the vin number does not match the recall warranty so they said they can't help me with this $5500 repair. We still owe $10,500 on the vehicle & its now worthless or we drive an unsafe vehicle anyway & get stranded on the highway or in an accident because the car catches on fire from overheating. Vehicle was in motion when overheating/leaking coolant occurred. How can our vehicle be excluded when this is dangerous & still happening to honda civic owners all over with 10 yr warranty & they said no.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact noticed a leak from the radiator. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was a crack in the engine. The independent mechanic referred the contact to 1st honda of simi valley (2203 first st, simi valley, ca 93065, 805-433-9526) where it was diagnosed that there was an engine crack and stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 144,000.

I was driving my 2009 manual honda civic with a 55k on it and the temp outside was -20 f, on the high way at about 75 mph, nothing was abnormal on my dashboard and the car was on the 5 th transmission the car suddenly stopped responding to my acceleration and the engine light blinked three times before my engine completely stopped, it was freezing outside and there was a froth bite warning. I parked safely on the side thanks god there were no much of a traffic on the high way otherwise it would have been disastrous. I checked my battery and nothing was wrong with it, so i checked my oil which i just changed 10 days ago, i found out that my oil checking stick is completely burnt and the remains was black. At this time i was sure that it something bad. I towed the car to the mechanic and arrived safely to my home. I checked online on my warranty and recalls or bulletins, i found out that honda has this problem and i called the honda customer service and they told me sorry your car is not covered under this bulletin, an unresponsible car manufacturer who produced an engine that fails in 5 years after 55k and doesn't claim responsibility, no comment!!!!!. As if safety is the last thing that matters for those companies, putting me and my family at risk and claiming no responsibly for their product.

Interior center led brake light failed, right side engine mount failed, atomic blue paint on roof and edges of rear fenders around trunk faded and chalky.

Developed a cracked engine block, honda service people showed the crack and told us to call honda. Honda bulletin 10-048 listed extended warranty of 10 years for 2006-2009 honda civics. Spoke with a honda representative initially who told us that repair would be covered. Honda dealership took a few days to look into the issue and told us we did not have the correct vin number for the repair. Our honda is the same make model and year of cars affected, has the same problem many many other honda drivers have faced. Yet, our honda will not be covered by the extended warranty. Frustrated owner that has corporate owners doing as little as possible to address big issues

Clear coat on paint failed after 3 years. Sun visors failed after 4 years and 35k miles.motor mounts failed at 5 years and 42k miles.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken in for a routine inspection to the dealer who informed her that the engine mount was broken and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included on any recalls and referred the contact back to the dealer for the repairs. The failure mileage was 69,000. Updated 10/24/12*lj

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. While driving, the vehicle suddenly shut off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the ignition switch, but the failure continued. The mechanic also diagnosed that the engine block was cracked and was leaking coolant. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer (honda super store of lisle, illionis) and the manufacturer were notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 109,000.updated 10/26/17*ljthe consumer stated several cylinders were damaged as a result of the engine crack.

Stopped at an stop light in town when vehicle rpm suddenly went to 5900 rpm and vehicle attempted to accelerate. Had foot on brake and was able to stop. Put vehicle in park but rpm stayed around 5900-6000. Turned off ignition and restarted.vehicle drove normally. Took vehicle to dealer who could not find a problem.there are over 50 cases of this same behavior reported online, in all cases the dealer could not find a problem.

The car overheated on the freeway with leaking coolant at about 138k miles. It was found that it is a cracked engine block near the waterpump. This is a know issue with the vin number at honda. We are just outside the 10 yr mark by 7 months (purchased used 1 wk outside of the 10 yr mark).

I brought a honda civic 2009 in 2012,april 12.the honda was supposed to be sold with a power train warranty to bring car up to date for 36000 miles/3 yr.honda did not offer an extended warranty for these purposes.they called a year later to see if we would then extend the vehicle to 120 miles.we had already purchased an additional warranty called assurance pay to paylink approx 112.00 mo.we were one payment to the last and honda finally called , we purchased their warranty too.the car should have been automatic from the sale date.door locks and ignition/cylinder work and other repairs such as break work have been performed on vehicle since.i am reporting unfair selling practices.details and repair work will be submitted upon request. Thus vehicle safety issues upon purchase.

My wife was driving a 2009 honda civic (purchased new all repairs/servicing since purchase made by the dealer at reading piazza honda) with my 13 year old daughter on a 2 lane highway at approximately 8:45 pm may-16-2012, no other vehicles were on the road at the time in her front or rear view when suddenly she reported that the engine unexpectedly revved up to high rpm's, where she states thatshe lost the ability to steer the 2009 honda civic, she tried to apply the brakes as soon as she realized the steering control was not working, however; the brakes did not work either. Her vehicle careened to the left side of the road hitting the median dividerthen the car careened to the right hitting the guard rail at which point the side airbag deployed and the motor shut off. Thankfully they are both alive. My daughter stated that she felt someone was pushing the vehicle from behind suddenly. I am still looking for answers to this unexplained scenario my wife and daughter reported to me, the 2 lane road was devoid of any vehicles at that time and as she stated this to me, the engine revved high, she had no ability to steer and the brakes did not work when she applied them.i contacted american honda and have asked them to help investigated what may have happened and am waiting to hear from them on what may have caused this in a 2009 honda civic.

Front right motor mount is broke, was vibration when you put it in reverse. Now it has a vibration all the time.

2009 honda civic 4 door sedan, bought brand new ? within the first 30,000 miles, the car began to have intermittent problems with starting in lower temperature weather (50 and below). Car engine will crank and fail to turn over if left in colder temperature for more than 12 hours, i have installed a new battery and the problem has persisted. Brought the car into the dealer and the starter, alternator, fuel pump, battery, everything was ?fine.? problem continues to this day and honda has never been able to answer why.

Crack in engine block - driving on highway, came to stoplight and noticed steam coming from engine and overheated. Stopped to look under hood, smelled of coolant. Checked hoses, clamps, radiator.... Everything looked fine. Bought a gallon of coolant, poured directly into radiator. It needed the whole gallon. It did not overheat after refilling coolant, but the next day the engine started rattling and running poorly. I could not drive over 50mph. I took to honda dealer, they said it is crack in engine block, known problem with '06-'09 hondas but out of warranty, so they will not replace engine.

I started my vehicle up after work and it was idling rough but then stabilized so i payed it no mind. Soon as i merged onto the highway when my check engine light started to flash. I immediately loss power and the vehicle started to decelerate. I turned on my hazards, pressed on the pedal to accelerate but the vehicle was bogging and wouldn't accelerate pass 50mph. I safely got off on the next exit and shut off the vehicle. I turned the vehicle back on and made it home safely. This is the second time this happened. I changed multiple parts on the vehicle since then, yet it continues to happen. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they could not figure it out.

I was at a red light waiting for the green light to turn to the left. When the green light appeared, i accelerated at a speed of 15 when out of no where i heard a boom sound coming from the engine. This seem very abnormal to me since i had barely purchase my car 4 months ago. I took my car to the honda dealer to see what was going on with my car. After waiting a few hours, the mechanic told me there were many things wrong with the car. The boom sound was made by the breakage of the wishbone that holds the lower engine and besides that it needed 2 tires, alignment, cabinfilter, brake flush, p/s rack. I honestly don't think it is fair to me that i bought a 2009 car for it to have this many problems. When i bought my car the man from auto plaza told me that i wouldn't be having any problems with my car for a long time and then i find out all of this parts wrong with my car. After this incident, i went to talk to the man from auto plaza and he told me that when they had purchase the car they didn't inspect it before putting it on sale.this action seems to me very irresponsible to not have inspected the car before putting it on sale. I honestly didn't know what else to do and this is why i'm writing a complaint here. Please help me with my situation.

2009 honda civic.air conditioner started to blow out warm air.this was about 6 months after purchasing the vehicle.i live in the upper midwest and the issue occurred soon after the weather warmed up.i took it to boyland honda in milwaukee, wi where i purchased the vehicle.they corrected the problem and the air worked for the rest of the summer.one year later i have the exact same issue.the air conditioner is once again blowing out warm air.i have an appointment to take the car in to honda of kenosha.i don't trust that boyland actually corrected the problem so would like to try another dealer.i only have 12,999 miles on the vehicle and have been without air conditioning on two different occasions.my wife has a cr-v (our 2nd) and i have the civic (also our 2nd)i have always had good luck, this is the first time i have encountered an issue like these.

While trying to pull into an isle of a parking lot for the purpose of finding a parking space, the engine suddenly accelerated on its own and out of control spinning around, jumping a curb and crashing into a tree, and four other automobiles parked on the parking lot causing property damage to five automobiles including my automobile.

I bought a brand new 2009 honda civic lx in december of 2008. In march 2009, only 3 months after owning the vehicle and only 3,000km total on the vehicle, i've been experiencing an inconsistent and disconcerting problem after driving this car off the lot. The vehicle seems to have an intermittent starting issue where on random occasions the vehicle will not start. Once trying to start it, it cranks, like it is trying to turn over to start for a range of 5-15 seconds. It eventually starts on the 2nd or 3rd attempt.i have consulted in the dealership on numerous occasions. After 2 months of taking the car in, the dealership and honda canada wanted to install a computer recorder on my car to try to get the problem recorded, since they were not able to reproduce the noise. After have the recorder installed for just over a month, the problem finally reproduced. I called the dealership in which they took out the monitor to have it send for an analysis. I had mentioned that this was the worst one, because not only did it crank for about 8 seconds, it just died - did not catch or keep cranking. I called 2 weeks after to get an update in which i did not get a response after leaving a message for george (head of service). I called again 2 weeks later in which george stated he had heard back a few days prior but was too "busy" to call me. He stated that the recorder said it was 8 seconds and started, and 2 times where is was 5 seconds and started. He then told me if i was not happy to deal with head office and we would contact tech support.i still have not heard back from george, 2 business days later, after trying to contact him. I spoke with head office who told me the dealer said it was normal for my car not to start. I am still in the dark as to what the issue could be, and i'm tired of speculating. For all i know it could be the oem battery with the insufficient cold-cranking amp ratings, the main fuel relay or a faulty cam/crank sensor.

I was stopped at a stop sign with my foot on the brake of my 2009 honda civic when the car's engine suddenly revved to 4000rpm.i placed the car in park and the engine continued to rev at 4000rpm.the entire incident lasted about 10 seconds and then the engine returned to normal idling speed and i continued on my way.the vehicle, which has about 11,000 miles, is currently at a honda dealer for evaluation.

My 2009 honda civic si, bought new, has been leaking oil after oil change and the dealership service department cannot find why it is leaking except that it is coming from the filter. I was charged $100 for diagnostic fees that did not find any other fault besides a 'leaking filter'. The dealership simply asked me to bring the car in, change the filter, and continue this cycle until it doesn't leak anymore. The first incidence took 4 visits.i just had another scheduled service at a different dealership, and the car is leaking oil heavily in my driveway again. My car was not leaking oil when i brought it in for service. The oil is covering my suspension and various underbody components.

Within a month of purchasing a 2009 honda civic in november 2009, my ac stopped working. I took my car to the honda dealership and was told that a rock hit my ac condenser. I was told that i would have to pay 700 dollars to fix it. While doing some research, i found out that this has happened to plenty of other honda owners. I went back to the dealership and told them about the plenty of other honda owners who suffered the same problem. I was still told that i would have to pay for it. When plenty of people have suffered the same problem, there is obviously a design flaw and we should not be punished for it and have to pay 700 dollars to fix it. I have been trying to fix this for about a year and a half.

A rock came through the grille of a 2009 honda civic damaging the a/c condenser.the vehicle is still under warranty but it is not covered because the rock caused the damage.according to the dealer they see this all the time.a simple search on the internet brings up lots of links for this exact problem for honda, and very few for other car makers.apparently they changed the grille design on the odyssey to lessen the chances of a rocks coming through the grills.to me it appears to be a design flaw.

I own a 2009 honda civic hybrid. The hybrid system recently stopped working (leaving only the underpowered gasoline engine as the means to power the car). The car was taken to the honda dealership to fix the issue in december. They performed an irreversible software update which has, as a result, made the hybrid system work only intermittently. The dealer states there is no way to reverse this change. As a result, the hybrid battery/motor assist will suddenly stop working during an acceleration (for instance merging on the freeway) with a dramatic loss of power. Stepping more on the accelerator increases rpms to 4-5,000 but does not result in any significant power to the car. This has been reported to the dealer, they state they have had many similar complaints but do not have a fix. I feel this is a significant safety concern given the unpredictable nature of when the power loss occurs, and usually occurs when a driver most needs power.

Ima check engine light went on.

I purchased a new 2009 honda civic in may of 2009,at the same time i purchased honda floor mats for my car.the driver side floor mat has two retention holes in it and is retained by two plastic hooks that are mounted on the floor.the holes in the mat due to normal wear and tear have ripped and now the mat slides under the gas pedal of my car, which causes acceleration problems with the car.i contacted honda at 1-800-999-1009 about this safety concern (confirmation number:n012014-05-2901759). They informed me that the car is out of warranty 3yr/36000 miles and they could not offer a resolution to replace the mat.this is a safety problem, which is similar to the toyota floor mat problem from a couple of years ago.

2009 honda civic hybrid. Consumer states air condition failure and problem with indicator lights *tgwthe dealer informed the consumer that rodents eating acorns had dropped the shells into the air conditioner intake. The consumer also stated the park and drive light illuminated. The park light was steady, while the drive light blinked on and off. The consumer shut the vehicle off. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, where they determined a rodent had damaged a cable. Also, the trunk failed to open on command, the consumer believed the problem occurred when the vehicle was detailed which caused the protective gasket to lose its protective lubricant. The gasket was lubricated and the trunk lid now opens on command. The consumer stated the rear brakes had to be replaced, the tires were worn and needed to be replaced. Updated 06/26/13

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact turned on the air conditioner but only warm air would blow through the vents. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where the contact was told the condenser under the vehicle was dented and punctured. The contact was also told that the hoses were disconnected and leaking fluids. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was unknown. The air conditioner on my brand new 2009 honda civic stopped working.when i got it serviced, they said it was a hole in the condenser.this is not covered under the warranty when it should be.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. While attempting to replace the summer tires with winter tires on the vehicle, the vehicle jack failed. The contact's arm became trapped between the wheel well, the brake rotor, and the wheel itself. The contact's father, who was also in the garage at the time, was able to lift the vehicle enough for him to remove his arm. The contact made a second attempt to jack up the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle sustained damages to the front end, the suspension, and the brake rotors. Aaa was contacted and was able to safely lift the vehicle and replace the wheels. The contact sustained injuries to both arms that required medical attention. The results from the x-ray were not yet available. Peters honda of nashua (300 amherst st, nashua, nh 03063, (603) 718-3781) was contacted. The contact was informed not to attempt to use the supplied jack while attempting to replace tires on the vehicle. The vehicle jack was original mechanical equipment. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 146,000.

The center 3rd brake light stopped working. Since it's an led array and not a normal light bulb it costs over $200 to replace.also, it can only be replaced by the dealer. From searching the internet this is apparently a very common problem with these vehicles. An led array should not fail. Because this is a safety issue honda should issue a recall to replace the defective units.

Tpms warning light constantly on while ignition is on regardless of air pressure in tires.dealer estimated $200 to repair.not repaired due to excessive cost.

Interior center led brake light failed, right side engine mount failed, atomic blue paint on roof and edges of rear fenders around trunk faded and chalky.

Insane amount of clear coat peeling is happening this year.roof has soccer ball size of clear coat damage.hood has spider web all over the place.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that the headlights fogged up and reduced visibility. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the headlight assemblies would have to be replaced. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 38,000.

The center (interior) brake light works intermittently. Many others have had same problem. Only affects ex model led light assembly. It is unsafe and costly fix. It should be recalled.

This is happening right now, again.. 2012, not just in 2010tires are abnormally wearing extremely fast. About every year someone is telling me i need new tires because they are 'chopped' and wearing really fast. This lead me to the internet to do research and found it is common with the 2006-2009 civics. Something about the control arms not working properly, in turn causing this problem and a whole lot of others like suspension. I cannot afford and shouldn't have to put new tires on my new car every year or 20000 miles. I am so frustrated and at a loss of what to do. I have a call into honda but haven't heard back, i can only image what they're going to say.the other failure is my 'headlights are still on' indicator noise stopped working a year after i bought the car brand new. Ugh, so frustrating.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that the headlights on the vehicle were not emitting enough light while driving at night. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the headlights were replaced with brighter bulbs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000. Updated 04/03/15*lj

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that the front left turn signal was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where the contact was advised that a bulb could not be installed into the vehicle and there was not a housing unit for a bulb. The dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnosis. The contact stated that he did not feel comfortable driving the vehicle without a left turn signal bulb. The vehicle as neither diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 9,000 and the current mileage was 10,000.

Bought 2009 honda civic with 5 miles on it.have had intermittent starting problems where the car will not crank over or "catch".brought it to dealers attention and they had the car in for 2 days trying to figure out the problem.they went through the car and replaced "something" but i was not told what it was nor was i given paper work.car seemed to be fine for the summer.now that weather is cooling off, car is experiencing same intermittent starting problems.call dealer to report it again and was asked if the car had gas in it.....seriously?i responded yes and that it was the 2 nd time in 4 days that it would not start, seems to be an issue when the car sits for more than 3 hours.car will not crank over after several attempts.last incident lasted more than 2 minutes of trying to start engine.no warning lights come on the dashboard and it is not a battery issue.i have yet to have the dealer correct this issue.i have been told that my key chain was too heavy, that i should only crank it for max 15 seconds and then wait and try again, turn key to accessory and wait a few seconds.i have taken off all "heavy" items off my key chain, changed to the spare key and yet nothing seems to resolve.have also been told i have bad gas in vehicle.

Sudden acceleration surge, to the point of having to completely hold the brake with both feet. At one point, after putting car into neutral, the engine revved to 7000 rpm before owner could turn car off. The initial surging resulted in the owner's wife hitting her passenger mirror against another vehicle when the engine surged while in reverse. There was no category for the vehicle ecu, which is quite suspect at this point.

Check engine light came on.an independent garage scanned the code as p2422evap emission system vent valve stuck closed.fuel tank does not seem to fill all the way, and sometimes a fuel oder is present.online search mentioned there is a technical service bulletin #11-036 for this code.took the vehicle to the dealer on 8/19/16 as part of the airbag recall.dealer mentioned there is no recall for p2422, and there is no emissions warranty that covers this issue.

When i start my car and drive it as soon i stop anywhere i smell gas all around the car

After driving the vehicle and stopping to park, we smelled the scent of gasoline.brought the car to the honda dealership and they found a "flaw" where the gas nozzel/neck connection (or weld) to the main gas tank was slowly leaking gas.the service person at the honda dealership had never seen that kind of flaw or defect before.it was suggested that we order a new gas tank with the gas nozzel/neck connector.i'm thinking the weld between the two parts may be a weak link on cars similar to ours and want to report it.

2009 honda civic gx has an intermittent cold start / hard start/ no start problem. It can take anywhere from 30 seconds to eight minutes to get the car to started. On a few occasions i gave up trying to start the car and drove my truck instead. Originally the problem was occurring aboutonce a week to once a month. I have had the car die while driving and wouldn't restart. Since jan 25th 2012 my car has been at the honda dealer for a total of nearly 12 weeks while attempting to correct the problem. The dealer has had my car for the last 9 weeks straight and has been unable to determine the cause of the starting problems. Currently it will not start about 50 percent of the time. While my car is fueled by cng (compressed natural gas) i have found numerous 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 honda's with hard start / cold start complaints identical to the problems my car. The only difference between those cars and mine is mine is fueled by cng while the rest of the honda civics are all gasoline powered.www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzkqqqg9l8w in this video the car had only been sitting 8 hours from when i last started the car. Www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eict...eature=channel 2009 honda civic cold start problem. In this video i had already attempted to start the car for about a minute or more prior to me starting to video it on my phone. The temperature when i was trying to start the car was 44 degrees though the overnight low was about 35 degrees.

'09 honda civic coupe:1.) noted clicking/popping/clunking noise when turning either left or right. Happens more often after driving over bumps. Comes from front of vehicle.2.) passenger door will not unlock after put in park have to manually unlock.

The ignition and lock components have worn out.the driver's side is completely broken and the ignition is having problems. The car only has 70,000 miles on it. This is not standard honda workmanship, and the dealer suggests having the entire car rekeyed which costs about the same as the car is worth. This is definitely an issue with a faulty component to begin with.

Right drive shaft popped out from the rear differential after switching gear from r to d while the driver was trying to get out of the drive way. The car went into roll in park situation. The car is at relative low mileage and have no previous accident. A faulty drive shaft assembly could be really dangerous if the incident was happened on the road.

The contact owns 2009 honda civic. The contact stated the ignition lock switch was defective. The contact stated that while parked on an incline, the vehicle rolled backwards. The contact took the vehicle to mcgrath honda of st charles (1411 e main st, st. Charles, il 60174) however, a diagnostic test was not performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 90,000. Invalid vin.

I have a 2009 honda civic hybrid. After having the vehicle for less than 1 year i noticed that the battery began to suddenly drop it's state of charge (soc) during the first few miles of driving after the vehicle was parked for several hours. On sustained trips the vehicle will suddenly drop its charge about every 20 minutes. The safety issue is that when the vehicle suddenly loses it's state of charge (soc) there is a significant loss of acceleration. If the sudden loss of soc occurs at a time when you are pulling out into traffic, you find yourself being unable to accelerate to avoid the oncoming traffic.on several occasions i have pulled out into traffic with the soc reading 75% or higher, only to find that "at that exact moment", the vehicle decided to dump its charge. On several of those occasions i was nearly run into by the oncoming traffic.honda replaced the battery in march 2010 and the problem went away, but after 6 months with the new battery, the problem returned. Honda refuses to replace the second battery, insisting that the vehicle is operating normally.

Drove 50 miles from montclair ca (home) to uci medical center orange ca, on highways 60 and 57. My wife, a stroke patient had an appointment with the uci neurologist. When arrived at the indoor parking entrance, i made a left turn slowly to enter the indoor parking facility of themedical center. Suddenly, the left axle shattered and the car came to sudden halt. Ball bearings and pieces of metal were on the floor. Towed toharding honda, anaheim, ca facility. They replaced axle. On test drive, mechanic reported noise in the right hand axle as well. Fearing it might break on highway, i had it replaced also. I believe this problem to be a serious safety risk. If it had happened on highway, it would have caused a multiple vehicle accident. My car was driven only 54157 miles at the time of the accident.

Car has intermittent hesitation after coming to a complete stop, problem appears more often in 90 + degree weather, which is common in my home state of florida.dealer checked car and was unable to find a problem.problem is still there, and can be a major safety issue if the car were to hesitate at the wrong moment.problem has been present for months now, this is a 2009 honda civic 4 door sedan (ex-l navi model).

I started my vehicle up after work and it was idling rough but then stabilized so i payed it no mind. Soon as i merged onto the highway when my check engine light started to flash.

While pulling into a parking space with foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle violently lunged forward into a block wall.the driver was unable to stop the vehicle by applying the brakes. The driver was hospitalized for 2 days.

My 2009 (automatic) honda civic ex slipped into neutral four during the night.for the first three times, the driver would allow the rpm's to drop causing us to sit in traffic for an undefined period of time before returning the car to the drive position.on the fourth time this happened, driver and i were in a large parking lot making a right turn with a building about a football field away.about halfway through the turn, the car was placed back into drive from neutral and it began to drive itself.as the car accelerated faster and faster the driver tried to slam on the brakes many times without the pedal even budging or the car slowing down in the slightest way.when we tried to turn the steering wheel it locked up in a straight away position, causing the car to hit at least two large curbed medians and go airborne each time.driver and i braced ourselves as the building came closer.we then hit the third and final curb, the car went airborne again slamming into the building at about six feet high on the wall.all airbags deployed, the passenger window shattered and windshield cracked.immediately after the crash i proceeded to place the car into park when the shifter itself came out. The car was still trying to drive itself through the building when we crashed.the civic was considered totaled and the insurance company is further investigating why this happened.

There is a loud clicking noise that has been consistent since the car was purchased used in 2013. The noise happens when cornering or turning at low speeds.

Check engine and check ima light illuminated. Ima battery dropped to lowest power level. Battery level stayed low and both lights remained on 2 days. Dealer performed an update to ima firmware and lights went off however battery performs recall check at least twice daily. Mpg have dropped 6 mpg in the week following the check ima error. Dealer now states there is no issue. I still have no assist power from battery and vehicle is in constant charge mode.

I drive a 2009 honda civic lx 5 speed automatic transmission two problems need to be addressed and the dealership says they are completely normal, and i know they are not normal. Problem 1: transmission: when coming to a stop, usually under 10mph the transmission shifts very hard into first gear. So hard that it shifts hard and i have my foot on the brake pedal the car wants to launch me a little further.twice now i have almost hit somebody because when it shifts hard into first it wants to keep going, i have to sometimes pull emergency brake to make sure i don't hit anybody. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it scares me.second problem: brakes: the brakes in this car are horrible even with my foot completely down the car still has a hard time slowing down and again i seem to have to rely on the emergency brake to help me stop. I have a 4 year old son i bought this car because it was rated safe, but i'm terrified to take him anywhere because i don't know if i can stop or not. I talk to the dealership and they say both problems are completely normal. Its brand new with only 5500 miles on it so i know this isn't normal.

I just bought this new honda civic 2009 lx sedan, and after driving for few weeks, i started to hear some kind of noise in the car. Its coming from the right passenger side.and after i took it to the shop, they told me, it might be the change that i have in the car, so i took out the change and started drive again, but it didn't work, i still hear the noise.i didn't have time to go back and ask them to fix it again.the other problem is the transmission, one night when i try to park the car, the car started to shaking when i pull it to the reverse mode, then i tried few more times, its the same with d mode.i was mad and was about to drive it to the dealer, but the next day when i ready to drive it, the shaking was gone.when i took them to the shop, the dealer inspect it and says there is no problem, they want me to drop the car there for two days, so they can go into deeper inspect, i refused, because i didn't have time and i needed the car for work.

2008 civic hybrid - 19,112 miles - when accelerating through an intersection from a stop, i experienced a temporary transmission failure causing me to lose forward momentum.moments later the transmission kicked in and i was able to pull out of the intersection.luckily, no cross-traffic was coming at the time and no accident resulted.i immediately brought the car in for servicing and first texas honda updated the cvt (transmission type) software.evidently a service bulletin (sb 08-014) was issued for this concern on march 1, 2008.the service bulletin stated that the transmission could experience problems similar to the one i had.i believe this model car should be recalled.honda's service bulletin was not effective in addressing this issue as it created a very dangerous situation.had cross traffic been present when my transmission failed a serious accident could have happened.

My 2009 honda civic hybrid on one occasion when starting out in the morning accelerated faster than i wanted to go, to about 25-30 instead of 15 mph in our condo area. It was very brief, and has never been repeated. After the toyota problems recently, i went to my honda service center, and they assured me that there are no problems with honda acceleration. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated thatwhile driving approximately 5 mph, he heard a clanking noiseand noticed that the vehicle would not move forward. Thevehicle was towed to an authorized dealership where thecontact was informed that the driver side axle exploded and hadto be replaced at his expense. The vehicle was repaired the manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unavailable. The current and failure mileages were approximately 31,000.

Brand new 2009 civic si sedan have noticed grinding of 2nd and third gear synchromesh, and also a lot of notchiness while shifting. Brought it to the dealership, they responded that this was normal, under further investigation i found out about a recall on 06-08 transmissions. I feel that the problem that they say was resolved was not. I work on cars so i replaced the manual trans fluid it came out as black as molasses, there is something seriously wrong with my transmission and i don't feel that honda wants to fix the problem. Now i know there is a problem because i have driven many other si's and the others have an absolutely silk shift. I would appreciate help in posting a bulletin to watch out for the transmissions in the 2009 models they may not be fixed. Please feel free to call me whenever and leave me a message i will get back to you.sincerely:

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. While operating the vehicle, a loud popping sound was heard and smoke suddenly appeared from under the front passenger seat. It was later discovered that the front passenger seat belt would not operate and the air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (motorcars honda, 2953 mayfield rd., cleveland heights, oh) where it was diagnosed that the srs malfunctioned and caused the passenger seat air bag to erroneously deploy. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 95,000.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that while traveling at an unknown speed, the driver crashed into another vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact stated that the seat belt failed to restrain the driver and as a result, the driver hit the roof of the vehicle. The driver was not injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 65,000. The vin was not available.

Takata recall. I was involved in an accident 1/10/17.my car was hit head on with a truck, 2001 gmc.the car was totaled and the report noted that the airbag never deployed.

The vehicle was taken to honda of fayetteville again where it was diagnosed that the srs unit failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

The headrests in this vehicle cannot be adjusted to the proper height for a person shorter than 5'10". According to the honda's owner's manual, the center of the headrest should be adjusted inline with the center of the occupants head. For a shorter person, the headrest cannot be lowered to the proper position. This problem seems to be caused by the shape of the headrest. In the lowest position the headrest pushes forward on the occupants upper head forcing the occupants chin down. This is a very uncomfortable position while driving or riding in the vehicle and can cause neck injury.i have informed honda of this problem in september 2009 and november 2009. I am in need of honda to repair this problem.

My 2009 honda civic lx was a total waste of money, simply due to the "anti-whiplash" headrest.i am a 5'5" female, and i have been spending tons of money on chiropractor bills since purchasing my car!i know these are now standard issue, because i have been car shopping for months now, and all the cars (made after 2007) have the same stupid headrest.who in the world decided these are safe and comfortable???go to google and you will find forum after forum of people complaining, yet nothing is being done?americans are spending millions of dollars on cars (buying) but nhtsa is trying to make them as uncomfortable as possible.maybe i should send you my chiropractor bills and a bill for the amount of my time that i am spending trying to find a new car/a comfortable solution???my neck and back hurt----alot-----all the time now, because i have to drive my car daily, to get to work!!!!

Bought the 2009 honda civic january 2016. Within weeks i developed a sore hip and then pain down my leg to my knee.most uncomfortable seat i ever sat in. I tried using a cushion. It didn't help much.its especially painful on any outing lasting more than an hour.will not take it on long trips. I visited car complaints.com and realized that others with similar issues.its defiantly a design flaw. Im seriously thinking of selling the car.

The headrests in this vehicle cannot be adjusted to the proper height for a shorter female (approx. Below 5'2"). According to the owner's manual, the center of the headrest should be inline with the center of the occupants head. For a shorter person, the headrest cannot be lowered to the proper position. This problem seems to be caused by the shape of the headrest. In the lowest position the headrest pushes forward on the occupants upper head forcing the occupants chin down. This is a very uncomfortable position while driving or riding in the vehicle. I have informed honda of this problem in september 2009 but they didn't seem too concerned and told me file a complaint with safercar.gov this issue is causing injury and/or discomfort to passengers and shorter drivers. I am in need of honda to repair this problem.

I have been experience ongoing lower back, hip and knee pain for the past few years. I have difficulty walking after getting out of the car.

Many drivers, myself included, cannot drive a new car with the headrest installed. I must have a straighter than "average" posture. The forward tilting design forces my chin into my chest . While searching for an aftermarket headrest, i realized that many other drivers are having the same problem. They have also resorted to removing or turning the headrest backwards resulting in zero whiplash protection. I imagine that some government bureaucracy mandated the shape of the headreasts that result in a one-size-fits-all result that, unfortunately, leaves a great many individuals exposed to severe injury. Please understand that my body shape does not allow me to just deal with it.while i have not been injured as a result of this design i know, based on the number of internet postings of other people with the same dilemma, that serious injuries have occurred. While driving my new car the first day with the headrest reversed, i let the clutch out a little to fast while stopped on a hill and it caused my head to jerk back. If i had been a little less limber or had given the engine more gas i could have easily been injured. While i am not going to check the box below for injuries certainly other people have been injured. This problem is not specific to this vehicle. Every car i took for a test drive last week had the same poor design that did not allow for individuals to adjust the tilt to safely fit their posture.

I took this seat apart to fix a wobble. Now i think there might be a larger safety concern with these seats.problem: the rear height adjustment bar on the driver's seat has yielded to failure along a weld. This bar is used for synchronizing the seat height on the remote side and sending side.symptom: this results in the remote side of the seat's height to float, causing a small but significant amount of twisting of one side as the (driver's) seat rocks on the height adjustment feet.safety: the "twisting" action in a collision could cause unexpected failure of seat.scope: it sounds like others people may have this issue: https://www.8thcivic.com/threads/driver-seat-back-slight-play-any1-else.258628/.p/n: 81526-sna-a14 (i think)note: "date it happened" set to purchase date.i don't know if this is the sort of thing y'all do, but when i saw the failure, i thought it may have safety ramifications.had a hard time uploading images, so added some additional ones here: https://imgur.com/a/cbmhjmc

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic.the contact stated that the headrest is extremely uncomfortable in her vehicle because it forces her head to tilt in a forward/downward position.as a consequence, she experiences pain while driving.the contact is 5'2" tall and she must recline the seat to a possibly unsafe position or place a pillow behind her back to maintain a comfortable position.she filed a complaint with the manufacturer.currently, there are no known remedies to resolve the failure.the failure and current mileages were 9. Takata recall

Uneven wear on the brakes to the point the left side of the car had very loud noise. Still have original tires on the vehicle with proper tread; car maintenance maintained. Paid $165.00 for new bendix brakes (high quality) and rotor repair. Once noise started, brake pad went quickly!!! this happened again only 12,000 miles later (july 2013). Left outer brake pad at 10% while inner pad of left tire at 85%. Right tire, both pads at 90%. Still same original tires with a lot of tread, car maintenance maintained. Very little wear and tear on the car at all for other areas.

Factory brakes are defective, wearing out the rotor with only 36,000 miles on the car.

The center (interior) brake light works intermittently. Many others have had same problem. Only affects ex model led light assembly. It is unsafe and costly fix. It should be recalled.

My honda civic 2009 break pad need replacement every 6 months to one year.honda civic breaking sytem has defect and honda is refusing to cover it under warranty. See this linkhttp://blogs.laweekly.com/informer/2011/02/honda_civic_brakes_lawsuit.php

Second time brake pad worn badly: first time was just over 20,000 miles on the car as filed in my complaint # 10525136.now just over a year later and only 12,000 miles more (32,700) i find my left front outer brake pad is worn to 10% while the inner pad is at 85%. Right tire pads at both at 90%.noise started abruptly two days ago sounding horrible. Have to spend nearly an additional $200.00 for new pads again. Noise continues even when not braking - leading one to believe there is no retraction of the pad against the rotor.

I was accelerating to the posted speed of 55 mph, another vehicle suddenly changed lane and pulled in front of my car. I hit the brakes, but the brake pedal became stiff and the brakes could not be applied. I had to pump 2 or 3 times and tried different amount of force. I barely escaped accident. The problem becomes much worse in cold weather and on snow and ice. I encountered stiff brake pedal problem at least 100 times between december 2012 & march 2013 on rt 83 between oakbrook and willowbrook (suburbs of chicago, il). The traffic at rush hour can be stop and go, and brakes need to be applied at least dozens of time in a distance of about 7 miles. I used all of my safe driving skills, and started keeping much greater distance from the cars ahead. It was scary. The problem still continues. At about 25,000 miles on the odometer, i had to replace brake pads & have rotors machined at a honda dealer. The next day, in july 2014, on a clear day and dry road surface, with the normal braking at a traffic light stop, brake pedal became stiff. I am worried about the coming winter. I have never been informed by honda to bring in my car for fixing this problem. My daughter bought this car in california in june 2009 (i was a co-borrower). She drove about 12000 miles in 3 years. My daughter also had encountered this stiff brake pedal problem, right from day one. In june 2012, the car was shipped by truck to my place, and i became the owner/driver of the car.

When applying the brakes and the vehicle hits a bump or rough patch on the road, the brakes fail almost entirely.as a reactionary measure, i usually release and re-apply the brakes and then it works but there have been times where i apply the brakes as hard as i can without letting up because i'm about to read end the vehicle in front of me.in total since purchasing the car brand new, i'd say this happend over 30 times since september 2009.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving approximately 33 mph when the brakes were being applied the vehicle accelerated to 54 mph. The contact stated she was unable to control the vehicle as the vehicle crashed into the guard rail, spinning around, crossing to the other side of the roadway, hitting the mountain side. The air bags did not deploy. The contact received injury to her right knee, shoulder, elbow, back and neck however medical treatment was not received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to freeway honda (1505 auto mall dr, santa ana, ca 92705 phone: (714) 547-3555) whom was attempting to diagnosis the failure however, when the insurance company inspected the vehicle and deemed it a total loss, all diagnoses was seized. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 68,000.*as

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that the front brake pads were wearing out prematurely. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The brakes were replaced. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue. The failure and current mileage was 63,000.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. While driving at approximately 70 mph, there was smoke coming from the rear brakes. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Noticeable metallic sound coming from front left side when driving.dealership says the inner brake pads are worn away (down to the wear indicators), but the outer brake pads still have 50% life and the rotors do not appear to be warped, cracked, or worn.calipers and pistons are also fine.dealer can offer no reason why brake pads wore out so quickly.nearly all mileage is highway mileage, so the dealer's explanation of "driving habits" and "stop and go traffic" do not seem likely.

Parking brake failure - parking brake was fully engaged when the car rolled backwards into a neighboring yard striking another vehicle.police and other witnesses indicate parking brake was engaged at the time the vehicle came to a stop.

I purchased the vehicle as certified pre-owned in june 2012 with 23834 miles.in november 2012 at 33035 miles the front brake pads needed to be replaced and the left front rotor needed to be resurfaced.i figured the brakes had never been replaced since i expect approximately 30000 miles of usage from front brakes.in july 2013 at 46216 miles the front brake pads were replaced again.to my frustration the dealership said normal wear and tear but i have never heard of brakes on a small light car needed to be replaced.i've had numerous prior cars that had breaks last longer than 13000 miles.i have seen numerous complaints on forums and even a pending class action lawsuit over this specific issue.this should be addressed and if necessary a recall issued since early brake failure is a major safety issue!

I was drivingon hwy at abut 65 mph on cruise control ,i applied the brake to disengage the cruise control to reduce speed to exit, but the brake didn't work and the cruise control didn't disengage, couldn't exit and kept on going and kept on hitting on the cruise button till it finally disengage and was able to exit. The cruise button stopped working since then.

Went to stop and the brakes were useless.i slammed the brakes to floor and missed the tail end of car by swerving in to oncoming traffic.i had recently brought car in to check the brakes and honda said they were okay and no need to have anything done.i don not like to brake on a bumpy road because the brakes do not do well on bumpy roads.i take caution when i have to brake on a bumpy road.brought car to honda on august 1, 2015 and told them change/fix the brakes.honda said they were going to check everything.is there a recall on this brake issue?

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 mph the abs locked upon engaging the brake pedal. There was also the illumination of the brake warning indicator.the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was maneuvered to a safe location. The failure had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

I purchased a 2009 civic in august of 2009. My car is now in the shop with less than 24k miles on the car in need of new brake pads and rotors. After researching the issues it seems that many '08 and '09 honda owners, especially civic owners, are having the same issue. The repair is not covered under any warranty and is a huge safety concern as well as a disappointment in the quality of manufacturing. I was told that this was "a normal problem" and not much concern was given over the safety of bad brakes at such an early age of a car.

While driving a 2009 hybrid honda civic in small town traffic, the car in front of me braked suddenly.when i depressed the brakes in the honda, i got no response.the brakes did not engage.fortunately, i was driving at low speed (25-35 mph) and engaged the hand brake (emergencia), which stopped the car in time to prevent the accident.i tried to use the car as little as possible since and will take it in for repairs today.

Purchased car dec 18/2009 upon driving it home noticed that there was a vibration.did not think too much about it as there was alot of snow, assumed that there was snow in the rims, drove the car very little at first.busy life continued to drive in the spring assuming that maybe the vibration was due to the mud on the country roads.june 10/10 .had the wheels balanced at 5505 km because of the vibration.at 9842 km had oil changed note says tires do not need rotation front @ 8.5/32 and back at 8/32.at 22,526 km front 2 and left rear tires all at 7/32but rr rear tireat 5/32 premature wear, was told that problem due to mud impacted in tire.replaced rr rear tire with used one , date june 25/10.odometer now reads32,606 and it is sept 15/10- time for winter tires. Replace summer tires for winter ones.keep summer tires for 2011 summer.drive approx. 10,000 km and take to tire shop for rotation only to be told does not need rotation. Bring backcar at 52,547 km for rotation only to find out rr rear tire has a flat spot . Took to honda who told us that the tire needed replacement and they checked the rearand front suspension., adjusting the rear suspension to the max. At the same timethey mentioned that the front and rear rotors needed machining- premature wear on these as well. They said that they could tear the right rear suspension apart but that would take awhile, i said go ahead.they then decided not to do it.so we took the car home after the alignment and told the tire shopthat they needed to provide us with a new tire.the tire shop manager was very , very angry. He prorated the old tire and we had to paid for the used portion.drove the car just under 10,000 km with new tire, so no wear to report at that time, odometer now 61915.changed over new tires to original summer ones.odometer now apprx. 64,000km , right rear tire upped and inside worn. Currently trying to get in contact with honda dealership once again.....

When hitting a small pothole, or even a small bump in the road, and the brakes at the same time, the car will lurch forward several feet, and the brakes seems weak.

My 2009 honda civic lx needed to have the front brake pads replaced (worn to minimum) at 11k miles and now again at 23k. Normal usage, previous 5 vehicles serviced at ~50k miles under same conditions. Appears to be defect in brake pad life time.

The vehicle purchased new from a honda dealership in waukesha wis. On 11-28-2008.one yr. After purchase wenoticedthe engine would suddenly accelerate, when backing up, braking. The engine would suddenly accelerated for no apparent reason. The driver would need to depress the brake pedal with greater force, and then shift auto. Trans into neutral. We took it back to the dealer 3 separate times, and they indicated they were unable to find the problem.on one occasion per their suggestion we purchased the rubber all weather honda floor mats at a cost of $110.00. I doubted this would fix the problem.in november 2011 the same problem was experienced a fourth time in a parking lot. While waiting in a parking lot the engine accelerated suddenly, and more pressure was applied to the brake pedal and shift into neutral. I notified the dealership of the continuing problem. On 11-29-2011 we left the civic at the dealer, and wayne nicklas the (ahm) would also examine the car with a mechanic. The mileage was 26,526.mr. Nicklas met with us. He explained how they checked the tire depth, pressure, and the overall condition of the car.i then asked for specifics about the sudden acceleration, and he indicated they were unable to find the problem. According to mr. Nicklas, there was no abnormal engine code, and it was possible that the problem did not occur long enough for the computer to record it. He denied other similar problems reportedwith civics. We found similar consumer complaints filed onweb sites with civics involved in accidents. It was suggested we trade in the vehicle.we felt unsafe in continuing to operate the vehicle. The honda dealer left us hanging, and offered us no further help with trading in the vehicle.we incurred a substantial loss when we traded in the civic at another dealership. Research found this is not an isolated issue by any means.

Front brakes were worn down over a very short duration.the car did not have many miles on it, nor had the car been driven erratically, but the brakes needed to be replaced.

Front brake pads wore out at 23,000 miles. Pads wore unevenly.

Brake booster, booster hose/check valve failures.nineteen occurrences of hard brake pedal and low performance of the brake system on 2009 honda civic 4 door sedan.the 1st honda 2009 civic sedan had the same brake issues as the 2nd one that i own now.i had an accident on june 7, 2011, the car did not brake normally.my problems with the current car started on may 19, 2010.i purchased the car on april 27, 2010.i continually have a hard brake pedal on application of the brakes on the first 3 or 4 applications of the brakes after starting to drive.the dealer continually claims they can find nothing wrong with the brakes and can't duplicate the problem on test drives.an independent honda garage inspected the brakes 1 week ago and did the honda booster brake test procedure, they found that the booster hose/check valve assy failed the test.it took them 45 minutes to complete the inspection with the test.i took it to the dealer the same afternoon and they only spent 19 minutes on the clock, having the car for 5 days.the dealer still claimed they could find nothing wrong with the car again.i drove the car the 2 blocks too my truck and the applications of the brakes were all hard pedal, requiring harder pressure on the pedal to stop the car.the next morning the car did the same thing coming down the hill to the freeway.the brakes seem to recover after the 4th application of the brakes.i have continually complained about this to the dealer service dept.they replaced the booster hose/check valve on the 1st car and then just as i was reaching the end of the warranty, they replaced the booster on the car.by that time i was done with the car and traded it in on another one, same model, same year.i figured it couldn't happen with another one.same thing happened 3 weeks later on this one and so far 19 instances have been logged with dates, time and locations.this info is in the police report and a certified letter of complaint sent to the dealer.

Front tires make a loud grinding noise and wear down the brakes on both sides of the vehicle. Very dangerous if not taken care of. This problem has happened to all honda vehicles from 2008 to present. Dealerships are all saying it is normal but the sound the car makes is not. The grinding can be heard from inside and outside the car. The government should look into this problem for the american people since honda is not willing to make it a safety recall.

Brakes fail on rough or bumpy roads. It feels very unsafe. This happens every time the road is rough, bumpy or is lined as in new paving. The brakes will not stop car appropriately. Today i went 4 feet past the stop sign on a new lined road.

While traveling 20 mph, the contact applied the brakes and noticed an abnormal squeaking from the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was performing as designed. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure persisted. Updated 11/19/10. *ljthe dealer stated the rotors were glazed and overheated.the brake pads were replaced and the rotors were resurfaced. Updated 11/24/10

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic hybrid. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph. The brake pedal was applied and traveled to the floorboard with no power response. The vehicle crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The contact suffered slight back pain. A police report was filed for the incident. An authorized dealer a was notified of the malfunction. The contact was waiting on a response from the dealer. The current and failure mileages were 10,000.

2009 honda civic lx - 28,085.00 miles.front driver's inside brake pad worn down to 1 millimeter.i noticed the squealing sound last week and it has progressively gotten worse.the inside piston on the driver caliper is not recovering after brake is applied therefore causing pad to wear out prematurely.this is an ongoing issue with honda accords but after researching this, it is an ongoing problem for honda civics as well.honda dealership said brakes/tires are not under warranty so they will not replace them for free or even discount the price and said they were not aware of a problem with the civic's brakes.

A rubbing, grinding, metal on metal noise from the front brakes after a little over 19, 916 miles. I had the dealership perform an inspection of the brake system and was told that it was not under warranty. The pads have worn down to the point where metal-to-metal contact is occurring, my vehicle may not be able to stop safely, and damage may occur where the brake rotors or drums need to be replaced.

Loud sound coming from front end, took it in for warranty repair and was told brakes were worn out at 18,xxx miles.i drive mostly highway miles and i argued that it was too early for that to happen and was told it depends on the driver.i have driven 5 cars in my life and the avg brake life was 60-70,000 miles.i am very disappointedi have to do repairs on a 2009 civic that i purchased with 10 miles on it.i called and complained to corporate and was given the company line.no help!

We have a 2009 honda civic with 24,000 miles on it.recently we noticed thatthere is a very high pitched sound when the car is in reverse and you brake.we called the dealer and was told that it was probably brakes.we explained we had a 2004 civic and didn't have to replace brakes for 113,000 miles and this didn't make sense.then we went online and found there is a huge problem with honda's braking system in the 2008-2009 models.

When the car is shut off, all assist to the brake pedal is lost within 30 minutes.the si models are manual transmissions.when the clutch is depressed to start the engine with normal foot pressure on the brake pedal, the car will roll if on an incline.very heavy pressure is required to prevent rolling.the dealer agrees the problem exists but says that is how it is designed.i have 30 years of experience with manual transmissions; no other vehicles i have driven exhibit this trait.the risk for pedestrian and property damage in parking areas on an incline seems significant.

I was backing up and my brakes failed.i had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle.

Honda civic lx - 17,000 miles.noise from front when braking.dealership said that front brakes had to be completely replaced (pads and rotors).refused to cover under warranty claiming that this was normal wear.complained to american honda and was told that this is not under warranty and clearly due to wear.they refused to comment when i asked how 17,000 miles for new front brakes could possibly be considered wear.miles are all highway driven.

When braking hard on rough ground or slippery surfaces, abs seems to take extra long ( 3 times further than other cars with abs )to stop car.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated thatwhenever she applied the brakes while driving at approximately 35mph or less, the vehicle would drive extremely rough as if she were driving on an uneven road surface. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the rear rotors and calipers were damaged. The rear rotors were replaced and the rear calipers were cleaned. Approximately ten days later, the contact noticed the rear rotors were rusting. The vehicle was not taken in to be examined for the cause of failure. The failure mileage was 6,500 and the current mileage was 6,900.

2009 honda civic was in for 15,854 oil change (new car) end technician reported brakes were wearing on 2 front brakes and would probably need replacement at 20,000 miles or sooner. Squealing noise at times when brakes applied.this is too soon for brakes to be replaced and have problems on a new car.

At 17,000 mile service on my 2009 honda civic, front brakes had to be replaced.front rightbrake was at zero. I paid to have new brake pads installed and called honda america for explanation and reimbursement. Honda america refuses to take any responsibility. It says 17,00 miles falls within normal wear and tear.

The contact owns a 2009 honda accord.during brake application between 25-40 mph she experiences pulsation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The technician resurfaced the front and rear brake rotors because they were out of round.thefailure mileage was 18. The current mileage was 120.

Creaking noise from front end while turning wheel. First time was february 2010. Dealer performed service bulletin. Did not work. They replaced both front strut assemblies---problem solved. July 2010 creaking in steering is back. Brought in to dealer and told both strut assemblies need to be replaced again. Two week back order on struts.

Takata recall

'09 honda civic coupe:1.) noted clicking/popping/clunking noise when turning either left or right. Happens more often after driving over bumps. Comes from front of vehicle.2.) passenger door will not unlock after put in park have to manually unlock.

Honda civic 2009 coupe 1.8l a/t: clicking and popping noise from the front end while turning left or right at low speeds. Example, leaving driveway, backing up at shopping mall from parking space and turning wheel making u-turn. Started after purchase at 57,000 mi. Still does it at 162,000.

There is a loud clicking noise that has been consistent since the car was purchased used in 2013. The noise happens when cornering or turning at low speeds.

I had uneven wear on my tires and had an alignment accomplished by a certified mechanic at firestone.after several attempt to align the camber on the right back rear tire they were forced to leave it at -1.7...which is .02 out of tolerance.the camber adjustment are is in proper working order but the mechanic says this is a constant problem with 2006-2009 hondas due to the arms design.this is a serious problem that can cause steering, suspension, and tire wear issues.

Clunking noise when turning left or right at any speed.dealer found 2 bolts that hold down steering rack were loose, bolts were torqued down.other memberson forums that were visited experienced similar issues but certain dealers blame aftermarket parts resulting in the noise.if these bolts were to fall out possible steering loss could result.

There are 2 complaints on here already about creaking steering wheel.. My problems are almost exactley as they have descriped. Word for word.

My 2009 honda civic ex, polished metal metallic, has paint that has been fading on the roof and trunk. The spots affected are: between the windshield and sunroof, above the back window, and the top of the trunk lid. I purchased the car brand new from the dealer in february of 2009. The car is only four years old and now has 22,800 miles. I should not be having these issues!

Paint on hood is fading in three spots.car is well maintained and kept out of direct sunlight.appears to be an issue with clearcoat.

Clear coat finish is degrading and leaving bare metal showing,

The paint on the roof of my honda civic is peeling off. This first happened fairly early on after i purchased by vehicle. This is not regular oxidation, from how i see it, as i do not treat my car any different than anyone else, who are not experiencing similar issues. From what i've read, there was a paint warranty extension for dark blue 2003-2005 odyssey's back in may of 2008--this warranty should be extended to honda civic 2009 vehicles as well.

Clear coat on paint failed after 3 years. Sun visors failed after 4 years and 35k miles.motor mounts failed at 5 years and 42k miles.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver's heel became stuck in a hole that was in the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Got hit in the side from making a u turn, moderate speed. Concern is that my son, who was driving, reported that the airbags deployed but did not inflate. He bumped his head (no personal injury reported), which is how he knows the bags never inflated.

My car has a paint defect that honda refuses to fix. This peeling paint started in 2014, i brought this issue to the attention of the dealership, but was told there was nothing that can be done.i notifiedhonda and they wanted me to pay over 3k to get the car painted. I have pictures of hundreds of honda's with the same paint issues. There needs to be an investigation and honda needs to be held accountable

Peeling paint

Paint is peeling, cracking and clouding over the entire vehicle... Almost imediately after purchase. Also the brakes failed during the same time and have had to be replaced multiple times, more often than what is normal

While driving at highway speed (~65-70mph), the molding/seal on the passenger side of the windshield came loose, and before i could get to a safe place to pull over, it broke free.while it was attached, it was banging into the roof of the car and against the rear passenger-side window. It was hitting the window with enough force that i feared it would crack the glass. Additionally, that it broke free and fell off created a safety hazard for other vehicles near me.in the attached photo, it shows the space where the seal came loose between the edge of the glass, and the frame at the top.

Sun visor broke during driving on the freeway and would not stay up.blocking visually.honda was involved in a class action suit that involved the same year but just slightly out of vin number area.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that the exterior rubber and clips on the front windshield weredeteriorating and exposed. The vehicle was taken to honda of pasadena (1965 e foothill blvd, pasadena, ca 91107, (626) 773-8774), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 65,000.

2009 honda civic sedan ex well maintained. Paint and clear coat fading and peeling at 1/2012. I owned the car only 3 months upon onset of the issue. I have noted that this year has been stated to have these issues and will take to local honda dealership with bodyshop to review and assist. This causes the car to look very old. Unable to polish or wax to halt the issue. Unsure why it began beyond what the forums have noted by other drivers per the paint and clear coat used by honda was not lasting.

In early august, the driver's door lock broke and you could not enter the door with a key. I had to pay for the charges to get the lock repaired and to match all the locks with the new key.this should not have happened.

Insane amount of clear coat peeling is happening this year.roof has soccer ball size of clear coat damage.hood has spider web all over the place.

The clear coat is peeling off the car.honda had admitted a problem however i was never notified of a recap/extended warranty.problem started out small but has become a major problem.should be covered after warranty period

When i first bought this car at david mcdavid honda of irving (texas) in 2012, i noticed there was paint or clear coat peeling on the roof of the car. I didn't immediately think much of it, thought maybe it was a one-off problem, and asked the dealership to repaint it before i picked it up-- they did. Being a full-time student and working full time, i didn't notice that the clear coat was starting to peel from the back of the car and then forward. When i did notice the clear coat i did not have the money to get it repainted and it was not a priority. When it got even worse, i started doing more research and found that there was actually a paint real for hondas for several models across a range of years. Mine fell into that range. I went to david mcdavid to ask them to repaint it and honor the warranty, but they refused since i was 3 months out of the warranty! what sucks is that i never received anything in the mail letting me know there was an existing recall for that. And even worse, the dealership knew about the issue and refused to help. I contacted honda of north america and they told me that the only way i could get the paint job was through my dealership. So now i am stuck and my car looks like crap. I still do not have over 1k for a paint job and neither my dealership or honda is helping.

Dark gray color fading very badly on the roof over front and back windows even though car was not washed frequently and has been parked in a garage.

The clear coat is deteriorating on the roof, hood, and trunk.

Takata recall was repaired 2017.paint peeling more than honda recall areas.honda refuses to repaint. 8/20179/2017 in motion : driver side sun visor is broken and drops down and blocks my view out of the front window.i can not afford to replace.

Paint job and clear coat peeling on trunk, hood and top of car.

The paint on the vehicle has been chipping off throughout various sections of the car's body, down to the undercoat. I purchased the vehicle new, and it has never been in any accidents, or been repainted for any reasons. The problem started occurring approximately two years ago. The nature of the issue is does not pertain to any of the conditions described in the note section of this vehicle information form.i approached honda regarding the issue, but was told that this issue is not considered under the company's recall policy. Honda vehicles are well known for problems regarding paint, and honda and several honda owners are fully aware of such problems. I am looking for assistance to address and resolve this issue. Please help us consumers preserve our rights and get the protection we need against corporations, such as honda, that profit from us and don't adequately stand by us by honoring the quality of their products and services.

Paint clear coat is coming off on doors, was coming off on trunk and top but was taken care of by recall. The rest developed later after the recall rhe car not looking good and i keep it up very good

I have owned my 2009 honda civic since july, 29th 2009, i have noticed multiple times that the body frame between the front windshield and the driverside window completely obstructs my view of things including pedestrians and vehicles, this is when i am directly looking. I feel the blind spot size is beyond dangerous and unacceptable, i have almost hit people numerous times because they are in just the right spot to be blocked of view this includes an entire vehicle!! i feel that every single one of these bodies styles should be recalled before someone is killed. I notice this every single time i make a left hand turn i have to move my head to each side of it to make sure there is no one or no object there.

The clear coat has been flaking off of the roof of my car for approx 1 year. I have contacted honda several times to get this resolved but i have been in successful. At first they said it was normal wear and tear. Now my car is no longer eligible for the manufacturer repair of the clear coat.

Splash guard is disintergrating.also paint (top coat) on roof and top of trunk is badly deteriorated.these defects noted over time.

Interior center led brake light failed, right side engine mount failed, atomic blue paint on roof and edges of rear fenders around trunk faded and chalky.

Clear coat paint peeling problem.the paint is cracking on the hood, both 1/4 panels, front pillars, trunk, and roof.

I own a 2009 honda civic ex-l which i take very good care of. My paint looks like a much older vehicle. I have never owned a vehicle with such terrible paint and clear coat. I have had the roof painted once already but the paint is peeling off the mirrors, the trunk is spotted with oxidation and the clear coat is peeling off. I will never buy another honda b/c of the problems having it fixed. I will be telling everyone i know not to buy honda!!!!! very very disappointed and disheartened with honda products! i just want my car to look its age and not like a 40 yr old car! you are terrible to your clients by not fixing this problem without having to jump through hoops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paint began deteriorating in 2013, as described in recall affecting many similar civics, but not this one (vin: [xxx]). Normal, routine driving & parking. It is going to begin rusting soon. Images attached.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The driver-side door handle on my 2009 honda civic lxbroke. I am the original owner, the car has been well-maintained and there is no reason for the door handle to break at such an early stage.

In 2014 we received noticed of a recall on my 2009 honda civic, about the clear coat paint job. Took my vehicle to hughes honda in warner robins, ga; they kept my vehicle for 3 weeks and only painted the spots that were fading. If the recall is for the entire car, why did the dealership not re-paint the entire car, since the car had a clear coat recall on it? i called the dealership a year after i took it to get repainted, and was told that the recall warranty was up and they could not do anything about it. This should have been resolved the first time i took it to the dealership. Now in 2018, the other half of my car is fading.

Slow speed impact(25 mph city street )with stationary object:front bumped destroyed get no air bags deployed.

Scratches appeared immediately after purchase, like there was no clear coat at all.now their are spots with no paint or clear coat all over the car and i'm worried if it starts to rust, i could get a leak in the roof.

The paint on my 2009 honda civic lx is cracking around the doors around 40k miles.

Have had to replace front struts three times since purchasing the car new.

I noticed a noise coming from the rear end of the vehicle so i took it to the nearest honda dealership. The dealership told me that the rear tires were severely cupped and needed to be replaced. The also recommended a four wheel alignment. Although the car is still covered under its 3 year 36000 mile warranty, i had to pay $366 out of pocket to have the rear tires replaced and the alignment done. When i viewed the alignment report all adjustments were within specified range prior to any adjustment being made. I believe there is either a problem with the goodyear eagle rs-a tires that were put on this car at the factory or there is some other underlying rear suspension issue that needs to be corrected.

We purchased 2009 honda civic lx new in late 2009. By july of 2010 we had to replace all 4 tires due to excessive wear (36k miles).i regularly rotated tires every 7000k miles.3/20/12- i replaced all 4 tires again due to severe cupping on both rear tires.honda dealership states it is a control arm issue causing tire damage but would not pay for part or labor.this is a serious problem and needs to be corrected by honda for free before someone gets hurt.

'09 honda civic coupe:1.) noted clicking/popping/clunking noise when turning either left or right. Happens more often after driving over bumps. Comes from front of vehicle.2.) passenger door will not unlock after put in park have to manually unlock.

We have had to replace an incredible number of tires, including michelins, due to very irregular wear and extreme vibration, beginning with our first setof tires in 2009. The rear end has been the worst, where one wouldn't think great tire wear and flat spots etc. Would be normal -- as we are very busy people and live in a rural area, we have just put on new tires, got repeated alignments, and moved on etc. Finally, our local mechanic has finally advised us just a few days ago our problems have been due to the control arm interaction with tires issue from the factory, that have reportedly occurred with this 2009 honda civic model (that he would solve with new control arm ass'y and alignment for $842.29).

Right bushing on suspension system was broken, which is normally seen in older vehicles with higher mileage. I believe this is a defect in the vehicle.

I purchased a 2009 honda civic sedan and it start to shake at highway speeds i have advised honda of this and also the dealer. I advised them that it cant be the tires since it had the problem since new. They said it was the tires that are worni advised them it cant cause it had this problem since it was new.

While driving 45 mph, a clicking and popping noise emitted from under the hood. The failure recurred several times without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the technician was unable to diagnose the failure.in addition, the vehicle started making a squeaking sound when making a turn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the front end suspension on both the passenger and driver sides of the vehicle was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,971.

There is a loud clicking noise that has been consistent since the car was purchased used in 2013. The noise happens when cornering or turning at low speeds.

I was driving down the road at approximately 35 miles per hour in town when the driver side sun visor fell in my view.it would not stay up.it split into two pieces that would not go back together.i went to the honda dealership to get 2 new rear tires because the car keeps eating up the rear tires for some strange reason.i asked the dealership about this visor and a possible recall at that time in november.the dealership told me my vin number was not included in the recall and they couldn't repair my defective visor for free.the dealership told me my right front seal was bad, front brakes were bad, and my right rear shock was bad and that it would be about 1000 to fix everything.

Defective rear upper control arms of our 2009 honda civic caused the tires to cup severely, making it hard to handle the car, especially on wet roads. All four tires needed to be replaced. It is such a common problem that, without even looking at the car, american honda agreed to pay for two of the tires and the dealership agreed to pay for one, after we called complaining of the problem. They did not replace the control arms however, as there is no better version to replace them with. Because of that, the problem is not solved. The new tires will also wear unevenly. Unless we were to put new tires on every single year, if not sooner, we will be driving on dangerous tires. What happens when the warranty is up? will drivers pay for four new tires per year, or be unsafe on the road because they can't afford to pay for honda's defect?the sad thing is we didn't learn the first time. We owned a 2007 civic with the same problem. Honda changed the control arms and paid for two of the tires after 20,000 miles, then when it happened again at 35,000 miles, we traded the car in for the 2009 model, hoping the problem had been solved in the newer model. Foolish us.

On 8/15/11, vehicle was brought to a honda chicago for lof & rotate. Dropped off, came back, drove vehicle found loud roaring noise.tires were rotated then discovered the tire that came off r/r was cupped. Vehicle has 15k miles, barely driven by my mom that's in her 60s, doesn't travel the expressways.honda chicago wouldn't do anything so i made a complaint with honda care; was told bring it back to honda. Honda chicago said, "sir, nothing wrong with the suspension and may possibly need an alignment."i told the service advisor there was no complaint of pulling/drifting.dealer and honda care are useless, nothing was done so i paid for a new tire somewhere else.last week, vehicle back at honda elmhurst and then to honda des plaines for a 2nd opinion for samething.both dealers stated nothing wrong but the front tires currently have 3/32s, l/r 2/32s and r/r 6/32s.the dealership didn't even offer tires to be replaced. The vehicle currently has 18k miles on it, a ticking noise that comes for the vehicle when it's idling in reverse and the mysterious r/r tire concern.i contacted honda care today spoke with a claim rep and requested to have a honda regional rep or someone other than the dealership's mechanic to inspect the vehicle since it's been to 3 different dealerships.i also requested to be reimbursed for the r/r tire that was replaced.i was told, "we're not doing anything at this time and that i would need to take the vehicle back to the honda dealership in elmhurst, il and to have the service manager get involved."the claim rep also stated that he spoke with the service manager of that same dealership and was told there's nothing wrong with the vehicle.i questioned the claim rep stated the service manager wasn't involved with the repairs on my vehicle, his service advisor was so of couse he would tell you what's on the invoice.

Rear wheel bearings makings loud noise while driving. If wheel bearing were to go out it would be a big safety problems while driving.

I have a 2009 honda civic that has 35,000 miles on it. I have taken care of my vehicle in the 1 year i have owned it. My car recently started making a loud thumping noise driven at all speeds.i brought the vehicle in to the local honda dealership where i bought it and they first tried to tell me that my tires were wearing down and i needed an alignment.i said wait i had this same issue with my 2008 honda and the control arm was recalled. The dealer kept saying that my tires have uneven wear and cupping. Which is the exact description of what would cause such dramatic wear is such a quick time. The dealer then said that since there has not been a recall there is nothing that they could do.my car is still under full warranty, but technically they can say the cause for the uneven wear " cupping." it sounds like a helicopter is hitting my car when i drive my new car. This is not safe, and this is excessive for new vehicles and not owners faults.hazard for all.

Takata recall

Road noise becoming louder and louder along with vibrations being transmitted into the cabin.checking the rear tires, the inner 1 1/2" of tread is much more worn and unevenly so than the balance of the tread.same problem as i had on a 2006 honda civic.

The rear lower control arm snapped while driving straight on the highway at approximately 65 mph. This could have caused a significant accident, and upon investigation i realize that this is what has been causing significant tire wear on my car over the years as well as shaking and loud buzzing while driving at higher speeds. The tow truck driver had a significant amount of difficulty loading and unloading the car due to the rear bumper coming within inches of hitting the ground because it was no longer being supported bythe control arm. This is a serious safety hazard.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic.while driving 10 mph, the contact struck another vehicle on the driver's side.she does not know how the front driver's side tire detached from her vehicle after striking the other vehicle from a right angle.the entire front end came off of the contact's vehicle and it was unable to be driven.the vehicle was towed from the scene and a police report was filed.there were no injuries.the dealer advised her to have the vehicle towed to them so it can be repaired.the failure mileage was 45.

Have had to replace front struts three times since purchasing the car new.

Bought 2009 honda civic late nov of 2010. Vehicle had aprox 28000 when purchased. Dealer installed 4 new tires (balanced) and wheel alignment. Rotated tires every 5000 miles. Owner started noticing uneven (cupping) of both rear tire aprox 10k after purchasing vehicle (vehicle mileage aprox 38000. Kept driving vehicle for an additional 5k miles, noticed 2 rear tires were balding. Took vehicle to auto shop, was informed struts and shocks were in good condition. Alignment not the problem either. Read so many blogs online about 2009 honda civic problem with upper control arm. By dealer not recalling upper control arm (causing abnormal tire wear on the rear of vehicle), it can cause many consumers(drivers) on the highway to be driving at risk because cupped tires or bald tires is very unsafe for any vehicle. It does not make sense for a semi-new vehicle to be cupping tires only after 15k miles of use.

On my 2009 honda civic that is only five months old right around 20,000 miles i noticed a vibration in the rear end. This vibration got worse quickly. At 20,560 i had the tires looked at and both tires have good tread left but have excessive cupping in a diagonal pattern the same as the 06/07 tsb. I took the car to the dealer i bought the car from. The service dept stated that there was no tsb or recall and that they could check the alignment but it was out of warranty at 12,000 miles (meaning i would be charged) and even though honda sold me the car with these tires on it they did not produce the tires and they were not covered under any warranty. Nhtsa needs to assist consumers by looking into this (numerous posting on other internet sites) before owners ignore this problem and someone is killed by the tire failure due to a problem in the rear end.

Front wheel areas making creeking sound as if there is a bad ball joint or bushing.the car is only 4000 miles on it.it's a 2009 civic coupe lx.sound is getting worse.i am starting it hear it from the back side as well time to time.it's been going on for almost a month now.

I own a 2009 honda civic lx-s. It now has 32,000 miles on it and the rear tires are completely bald. I did some online research and found this seems to be a common problem with honda civic's. Honda has a tsb about the problem but they refuse to fix the problem. The tsb says there is a problem with the rear control arms and that is what causes the excessive wear on the tires. I contacted a couple of dealers about getting my car fixed under warranty and they give you the run around and don't want to do what the tsb says they need to do. If there are this many people with the same excessive tire wear then they should issue a recall and fix the problem before a tire blows and causes a wreck and someone gets hurt. I even noticed that there is a class action lawsuit to try and force honda do what is right and have a recall and fix the control arms.

Premature wear of rear tires.rotated ties after 20k miles and noted significant road noise coming from the tires now mounted in the front.dealer indicated the cause was irregular tire wear caused 'cupping' of the tires when they were mounted in the back.i experienced even worse tire wear with my 2006 honda civic.honda issued a tsb to repair the rear upper control arms in that model.i would have thought honda engineers would have rectified this problem in newer models but the problem still persists.this car still "eats" tires.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that the rear suspension failed and was causing both rear tires to wear prematurely. There were several bumps found in various locations of the tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the tires would need rotating every two to three thousands miles. They offered no other assistance to repair the suspension of the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 22,500.updated 8/29/11 the consumer stated the tires developed flat spots. The consumer has since traded the vehicle. Updated 09/21/11

Car has 58,000k miles on it and replacing tires for the 4th time. The car continues to cause premature wear on tires even when car has a good alignment, tires are kept at correct air pressure level and rotated on a regular basis.

My vehicle was at my mechanics for an oil change.part of their service is to check the tire pressure.a tire was a little low.upon placing the air chuck on the valve stem, the valve stem exploded.potential damage to the car and the person who would be adding air was luckily avoided.honda had in july 09 (same month we purchased this car) issued a service bulletin concerning using only a shallow air chuck on civics as they might explode.honda and the dealership both refused to repair at no charge.claiming that the mechanic was at fault.note that the mechanic who was operating the proper air chuck at my repair shop is honda certified and only used a shallow air chuck.honda has a printed brochure in their show room that explictly states that a driver must go to a dealership or anywhere that air is available and fill to the proper pressure when the tpms light comes on.most air fill places at gas stations have the long handle version of the air chuck, which in the service bulletin is strictly prohibited!not only did honda refuse to repair at no charge, they also charged us for a front end analysis.$175.00 because of a known defective part.my wife refused to drive the car on the interstate or to go above 50 mph after that because of the potential of a rock or some other object hitting the valve stem.we had many trips where we had to use my 1990 jeep instead of the honda at extra expense.we recently were finally able to get rid of the honda and purchased a 2013 hyundai elantra limited.we were not wanting to purchase a new car for at least another two years.the potential for vehicle damage, and even more important to the person putting air in a tire is tremendous.also, what about a blow out, and then a wreck.all for an inexpensive part.we will never own another honda if they are so blatantly willing to disregard their own findings.

I purchased a 2009 honda civic in july 2009 - manufactured 11/2008. Rotated tires every 5k mi. At 25k mi - june 2010, informed that tires needed to be replaced. Replaced all four tires with 40k mi rated tires, alignment performed and in dec 2010 and rear tire were bald - 15k mi tot, 10 k on rear and 5 k on front.replace these - all 4 - with 60 k mi rated tires and after 5 k mi rear tire were severely cupped.replaced rear tires with the current front tires and 2 new tires for the front, alignment performed.ran this set for another 5k mi and again the rear tires were severely cupped - 10 k total 5k on front and 5 k on rear. If there is any precipitation on the roadway what so ever, the rear end tends to lose traction.the mechanic (non-dealer) asked if i carry alot of weight around in the trunk and i said "no, 90% of the time i am the only one in the car".he did say that he had seen other makes of car that would "chew-up" tires quickly.i went home and did a search on the web for "excessive tire wear honda civic" and came up with a bunch hits that said there was a tsb for a control arm.i went to the dealer and asked if they have ever heard anyone else complain of excessive tire wear on a civic and they said "no".so i told them that i found that there was a tsb for control arms on the web and they started researching 2009 civic tsbs and said that there were none.i said that it seems very strange that many people are complaining about this problem and there are tsbs for 2007 and 2008 models but nothing for 2009 models. Dealer said since there is no tsb for the 2009 and since there are 50k mi on the car the warranty is expired - there is nothing they can do. They did offer to do an alignment for $75, i said "no thanks i'll resolve this by another means" and left.

I purchased my 2009 honda civic on 09/09. I had my tires rotated every 6 to 8k. On my third rotation (at 24000) there was a humming sound occurring at low speeds. Took it to honda dealer and was told that tires had uneven wear (cupping in a diagonal pattern) and needed new tires.according to dealer it is not honda?s fault (never is!!!) , nothing wrong just normal wear.unbelievable!!!normal!!!new tires plus alignment $600.

I purchased a new 2009 honda civic and at 12,000 the tire belts have slipped.

Affected parts on the online form does not list "tires". Like many other complaints i detected extreme uneven wear on the rear tires. When i took my vehicle to a tire center the guy said that this is a known issue with this car. He said that there is no recall and that i could go to a honda service center and have a wedge installed that would prevent this wear. Since this is not a recall item i would have to pay out of pocket. I have not pursued this wedge but in my opinion extreme uneven wear due to a known mechanical issue is a safety problem and there should be a recall to install this wedge at no expense.

Rear tires were making a humming noise while driving. Took car in to dealer and was told that the rear tires were cupped to the point of metal wires showing through. Vehicle only has 11,890 miles on it.

I have a 2009 honda civic.heard horrible noise coming from tires.had them rotated to see if that would fix problem.it just got louder so i took it into for diagnostics.was advised i had cupped tires and needed 4 new tires and an alignment.i replaced all four tires and had alignment done.on the alignment report was advised that the right rear camber and right front camber were out of specs, as well as the rear left camber is just in spec.phoned honda told them of issue, was advised they do not repair such a thing and that driving on cupped tires is fine.i called honda , spoke towas advised it was a maintenance issue and that would do a toe at my expense.i have since learned how much of an issue this is, in fact a class action suit has been filed in the states.i was also advised by that the cupping resulted from the roads in which i live, which i find hard to believe as i live 5 minutes from theplant in .i was advised by my mechanic that the new tires will also cup unless this issue is dealt with.honda claims to be about safety yet after research i have learned that driving on cupped tires is dangerous as the tires lose grip.please help me i can't afford new tires every year or a $1,000.00 repair bill on a car that is less than 2 years old.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Excessive tire wear coming from both back tires.they both wear from the inside. Had new tires put on car, they both are already wearing on inside. Honda did an alignment when tires were new. These tires were rotated to the front and now i getting excessive roaring sound in the front and vibration when at slower speeds.car also now pulls to the left. Took car back to honda and they said they find no problems.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. While driving 20 mph the vehicle began vibrating in the rear. The contact noticed that there was cupping in the tire tread which caused the vehicle to vibrate. A local tire shop replaced the rear tire. The dealer checked the entire rear-end of the vehicle for damage; however, nothing was broken. The dealer requested that a manufacturers representative inspect the vehicle; yet, this has not occurred. The contact had the identical failure on a 2006 civic and the dealer stated that failure was caused by a loose bushing which caused unusual tire wear.the contact stated that this is a major manufacturers defect. The current mileage was 16,000 and the failure mileage was 15,000.

Road noise becoming louder and louder along with vibrations being transmitted into the cabin.checking the rear tires, the inner 1 1/2" of tread is much more worn and unevenly so than the balance of the tread.same problem as i had on a 2006 honda civic.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact was driving approximately 65 mph and encountered a small obstacle in the road. The contact drove to the side of the road and discovered the rear driver tire was completely flat. The rim was also destroyed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer the where they stated the rim exhibited a three to four inch gash throughout. The rim was replaced. The failure mileage was 20,000.updated 1/19/2010 updated 01/27/11

Back on 3/30/13, i had my vehicle in for service, and my tps light was on, as it typically came on for tire pressure. I didn't think anything of it previously, as we would always just add air as needed. However, the tire pressure was lower than usual. So we have been monitoring it more closely. I live in new england and put 4 snow tires on around november and remove them around april. I purchased the 2009 honda civic as a left over in jan 27, 2010. I purchased 4 blizzak snow tire in 1/10, 2 tires in 4/12, 2 more blizzak snow tires in 11/13, as they were worn, 2 more tires in 4/14 and will be purchasing 2 more blizzak snows this winter. I only have 45,244 miles on the vehicle. Recently, i have had an issue requiring the rear tires to be patched. On 5/22/14, the tps light was on, so i went to the garage on my way to work to get some air. On 5/23/14, the light came back on so i stopped again, they looked at the tires and found i had a leak, requiring a patch. In august, the same issue. The light came on, filled with air, only it didn't come back on until 5 days later. Stopped at the garage closer to my office and i needed 2 patches in both rear tires. One of which was patched 6 months ago. The light just came on again last week and while i was filling up with air (the psi was 27 in both rears as they should be 32), there was another honda civic behind me with the same issue. Needing airs and already had a patched tire. This is getting really expensive, as well as ridiculous! my father has a heart condition and i don't need to worry about faulty tires if in case of an emergency!

The clear coat has worn away on the roof and will need to be repainted.

The driver side sun visor split and now hangs down obstructing my view. This is a know issue with 2009 and earlier civics; however, my vin is not included in the extended warranty as a result of the class action suit.

On 07/22/2020 my car 2009 honda civic was stolen in cathedral city i had my purse in the car with my pink slip. I have a report # [xxx] police officer name is [xxx] i have call him 3 time i never received a call back please help me my name is [xxx]my address is [xxx] safety risk unknowninformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The clear coat has been flaking off of the roof of my car for approx 1 year. I have contacted honda several times to get this resolved but i have been in successful. At first they said it was normal wear and tear. Now my car is no longer eligible for the manufacturer repair of the clear coat.

Driving into the sun and attempted to adjust visor it just dropped tohang in front of the drivers face blocking visiondriver then forced to drive holding visor out way.

The weatherstripping around the windows has deteriorated.

Broken sun visor. Goudy replaced passenger visor two three years ago but did not replace driver visor.

The horn stopped working a year or so ago.we replaced it and the replacement has stopped working.

While driving the passenger side sun suddenly flipped/fell down and was just swinging. It seems that the inside of the visor somehow melted/cracked, and the visor became disconnected and loose while driving. I am thankful it was not the driver side visor, as it would have likely hit me in the face/obscured my vision and potentially resulted in an accident. There have been several recalls for honda sun visors; however when i took my car into the honda dealership where i purchased the car brand new, they told my my year/model was not a part of the recall.

Car roof paint in exchange color

The paint on the car is fading away and i have no clue why. I wanted to know if it would be free to repaint the car.

Defective sun visor recallthis complaint involves the recall of the driver's side sun visor in 2009 and good for 7 years from that date.i had one visor, split apart at the top seam, replaced. The second visor not only split at the seam but came loose at the hinge and flew past my face while i was driving in april 2016.i had an appointment within the 7-year period but because i misread the warranty i kept putting off the replacement until after it expired. However, when i took my car to culver city honda, service manager rue ayala told me honda selected a 7-year window in order to replace the defective visors with defective visors to get rid of them. He said customers had come in as many as "three, four and five times for replacement visors."he offered me a discount, which i refused. Why should my recalled part be as defective as the first one? the car should have come with a new and working part: that's what i paid for.my fear is the latest recall, the passenger side air bag, might also be replaced with a defective air bag. Sun visors are also matters of safety. They should not fly off the hinge past your face while you're driving. Fortunately, it did not strike my face. I have complained to acura honda, whose employees have given me the runaround since i began calling six weeks ago. I have been passed from case manager to case manager. I have asked to speak to a supervisor but have been refused. I have asked for the names of national and regional directors who oversee recalls, but have been told they are not allowed to give out that information. So much for good faith to a customer who has purchased two hondas.honda, in my opinion, has acted fraudulently regarding their bait-and-switch sun visor recall. I believe i deserve a new, non-defective sun visor at no cost to me.please help.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving at a normal highway speed, with all windows rolled up, a/c on, the rear passenger side window exploded. This was on a well paved, straight piece of highway.there were no other cars around, driver was in the far-right lane, and there was no evidence of foul play, cracks, chips or breakage in the window prior to this happening. Glass blew all over the back seat and there are just a few pieces of glass still hanging where the window once was. This was a frightening experience and had this been a front window, it could have been extremely serious. Cause is unknown.

"takata recall". My honda civic 2009 lx sedan is giving me a very hard time. Its air condition turns on but stops working right after 10 mints as the compressor gets hot and it starts blowing hot air. This issue is with almost all vehicles of the same generation and honda is not going to own it and says that the cars are out of warranty now. Please look into this matter.

Takata recalli bought the car from the original owner around the end of summer 2016 the car is in good condition but has approx. 210,000 miles on it.i used the passenger visor 4/17/17 and now it wont stay up and i see its split.i went online to see how to fix it and i came across the class action suit in regards to the visor.i emailed honda who called and told me the car is over the mileage and it will cost me approx. $180 to fix.its really annoying and hampers the view with it laying down like that. I feel they should still fix the problem for free.

Clear coat on paint failed after 3 years. Sun visors failed after 4 years and 35k miles.motor mounts failed at 5 years and 42k miles.

Honda civic years 06 to 09, engine block leaks no owner has been notified nor have the dealerships participated in notifying that person after purchase. Apparently hannah is aware of this. And has not contacted owners

Leak in interior of the automobile which honda service department (braman honda) was unable to find after 7 hours of investigation.leak is on both passenger and driver side. I have seen many videos on youutube describing interior leaks on hondas.i would like to know if this is a commonly reported problem and if the car company can recommend a fix. Please help.

This is the second time this has happened in this vehicle. The car was put into park and it moved forward and almost stalled. I had step on the brake to keep from moving forward anymore. This sound like the same complaint listed on the most recent recall made by honda on the their accord's and cr-v's.

Splash guard is disintergrating.also paint (top coat) on roof and top of trunk is badly deteriorated.these defects noted over time.

I own a 2009 4 door honda civic. I bought it in december 2009. Among some other problems, including the airbags, in 2012 the driver side sun visor developed a crack and then felt apart. I took it to honda dealer and they replaced it free of charge, but now the same replacement have developed the same identical crack and the metal parts are coming apart in the back of the visor.i called honda and they said that it is now my responsibility and have to replace it at my own expense. This does not seem fair to me because the problem is in the manufacturing of the visor and if i have to spend almost $200 to replace it, there is no guarantee that the same issue does not come up again, because honda has failed to address the real issue of the workmanship of their visors.my car?s vin number is [xxx]sincerely yours,[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Tpms indicator is always on.have taken to dealer to get service but they have said it's an electrical glitch cannot be fixed.this presents a safety issue if a real problem occurs not knowing when tires need adjustment.

2009 honda civic22,472 miles mostly freeway miles. Grinding noise from front brakes, took vehicle to dealer, they said i needed new pads and to have the rotors turned.inboard pad (piston side of caliper) was worn to wear indicator, outboard pad still with approx. 90% pad life left although there is a groove in the rotor.told dealer that this was unacceptable wear and he acknowledged it was a common complaint but not covered under warranty.a quick search of complaints on google affirms that this is indeed a common complaint and indicative of a serious design flaw on honda's part.

While traveling down surface streets, i hit a bump and my already sagging flip visor dropped down and almost completely obstructed my view of the road. By the time i was able to grab and flip it back up, the cars in front of me had slowed significantly. I realize there has been a class action lawsuit for this known issue, however my vin is ~800 above the highest vin included. Honda is refusing to do anything to rectify this because the class action lawsuit was vin-specific. I wouldn't ordinarily bother with this but this is a known issue

Sun visors have both separated

Paint and clear coat in areas from front to rear, on hood, trunk and on roof, is thin, peeling, spotty, or down to the metal. Took to the dealer and got no satisfaction. Said that even though many others have same problems it is not a covered issue. How is that possible when i have read so many of the same complaints! need it repainted.

I no longer own this car. I sold it to a junkyard 6 months ago. Please stop sending me recall notices.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact was driving approximately 2 mph in a parking space and attempted to engage the brake pedal. Suddenly, her foot was trapped underneath the accelerator pedal causing the vehicle to crash into a pole. The contact stated that the manufacturer installed the accelerator pedal in an extremely high elevated position from the floor which was a safety defect. There were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The front end of the vehicle was completely damaged. The vehicle was towed to an auto collision center with the repair cost of $5,196.34. The failure mileage was approximately 5,700.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic hybrid. While driving approximately 55 to 60 mph on normal road conditions there was pressure applied to the brakepedal, followed by a squealing noise and the vehicle lunged forward violently. The aggressive force caused the seat belt to secure the driver extremely tight. There were no personal injuries. The contact was able to operate the vehicle without any restrictions; however, the identical failures occurred two months later while driving on an incline. The technician stated that the vehicle was functioning properly and there were no resolutions. The contact is aware of the safety the safety risk involved. The failure mileage was 12,000 and the current mileage was 15,000.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving 1 mph with her foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The vehicle crashed into the front door of the contacts house. She shifted into reverse but the vehicle continued to accelerate, spun around and crashed into another vehicle. The contact was able to engage the emergency brake and shift intopark; the rpms increased excessively; however, a bystander helped her turn the vehicle off. There were no injuries but a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

While pulling into a parking space with foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle violently lunged forward into a block wall.the driver was unable to stop the vehicle by applying the brakes. The driver was hospitalized for 2 days.

While driving after the cruise control has been set, it does not stay at the speed you have selected. I was going down a road that wasn't down hill and the car accelerated on it's own. I had set cruise at 55 and before i knew it, it had accelerated to 80 and would not maintain the desired speed. Luckily, i was on the road by myself and no one was involved in an accident. The car has been owned about three weeks and has less than 800 miles on it.

2009 honda civic hybrid was coming to a stop in traffic. The ima went from charge to assist while braking (foot on the brake pedal), lurching the car forward (tires locked up). Same event happened 5 minutes later. Dropped of at dealer the next day, but they have not been able to reproduce the surge. American honda called and said they will not address an issue if the dealer can not reproduce the failure. They ask for the car to be driven home.

The vehicle was destroyed and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 70,559.

My 2009 honda civic is a dangerous car to drive. I took it to the dealer pointing out the dangerous symptoms described in the next paragraph. A test drive there confirmed the experience. The mechanic subsequently 'adjusted the computer' to eliminate the problem. It did not help. Thus this letter. Here are the symptoms.at idle, or very little gas, the engine sometimes speeds up some 200 rpm to 400 rpm and holds it for a second or a few before dropping back to idle rpm, whatever the idle rpm may have been. This can happen while stationary or moving, going forward or in reverse, cold or hot. I am talking about a situation with the right foot on the brake pedal or on no pedal, hands off the steering wheel, air-conditioning off. I know that the rpm change could be caused by the air-conditioning engaging for cooling or for defogging/defrosting and/or for the power steering pump engaging. But this happens without a cause which makes the change in rpm not only annoying but also dangerous as there is no way one could get 'used' to the idiosyncrasy. I should like to point out that these 'engagements' should not cause an appreciable rpm change in any car, and most of my cars i owned were indeed free of this. The 2009 civic not only reacts to those engagements but also changes rpm entirely on its own. And it is also inconsistent, as the 'extra pull' of the engine may or may occur on every drive.the random rpm increase is dangerous in the sense that with the foot on the brake lightly, the car moves before i can catch up and press harder. The rpm and the car speed change happens also when the car is in an idle motion such as driving across a parking lot. You can feel it accelerating for no reason only to slag back a few yards later. It occurs even during or at the end of the travel the length of the garage. A bad news for the rear wall.

My driver's side sun visor broke, causing it to fall down in my line of vision.it would not stay in the up position.apparently this is a very common happening in the honda civic and at this point, needs to be fixed once and for all with a recall and real fix, other than simply replacement with another visor that is also going to break!it also appears from what i've read online that the problem is cheap plastic and heat.yes, cars get hot in the summer, particularly if you lock them up as you should!honda claims it's not a "hazard" but i can assure you it is!!i was lucky b/c my car is still under warranty but no doubt when it happens again (and it will) it won't still be under warranty.

2009 honda civic sunvisors break and will not stay in retracted position according to the dealer it is a common problem. Once broken the visor interferes with vision while diving.

Sun visor on passenger side of car hangs down.it will not stay up inthe unused position.this is the second honda i have had with the same problem.honda of america says it is out of warranty so they will not replace or repair the part.this is dangerous because the visor blocks visibility to the right of the vehicle. There are numerous examples of this same problem on the internet.why is there no recall on this part?thank you.

2009 honda civic lx. Dashboard is reflected on windshield and blocks vision. This occurs when driving into the sun. Hence, it is a safety hazard.

2009 honda civic driver side sun visor broke while driving at 70 mph in interstate. The sun visor literally 'exploded". Pieces of plastic from the back seam fell and thevisor drop right in my view almost causing me to have an accident. Had to pull over to keep it together as out of nowhere this thing crack and fell on my face. Really glad it wasn't my wife driving.

The driver side visor split and swung down while driving. This could have caused an accident. It still obstructs my view while driving because it won't stay up. This is apparently a common problem that can reoccur. Dealers want 100 to fix it.

2009 honda civic si driver's visor won't stay up, falls down, blocking driver vision.

The driver side visor on my 2009 honda broke out of no where and now obscures my vision while driving because it wont go up anymore. Unable to get the dealer to fix it because its not under "warranty" anymore but clearly a safety issue.

Defective sun visor.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that the driver side rear window detached from the door.the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 14,000.

The driver's side sun visor failed after 18 mos and i have significant difficulty rotating to keep sun out of my eyes.this appears to be a common fault recorded by other honda civic owners.

Both sun visors have split open, which has caused them to drop down and obstruct the driver's clear view of the road

In 2011, my driver side visor cracked/split and was hanging halfway, affecting my view. I took it to the honda dealership, and they replaced at no charge october 24 2011. Not even a week ago, the same thing happened to the new driver side visor. I called honda, took it to them today (08/15/2013). They wanted to charge me 95 dollars!!!! really?!!! there is obviously something wrong with these visors. I have done my research and plenty of people are complaining about the same thing. I called the honda corporate office and they said there was nothing that they could do. The visor i got replace only had a 12,000 mile or one year warranty. That is ridiculous. These visors are obviously made with cheap plastic that is not made to last. So i have to spend almost 100 dollars every year and a half in order to be able to see while i am driving? there needs to be a recall and they should replace all visors at their cost. Maybe it might force them to provide visors that are safe and will last. I am going to look online also to see if there are any petitions. Please make honda have a recall on these visors so we can all see while driving without having to spend an extra 100 dollars every year or two. It is not the consumers fault.

Driving into the sun and attempted to adjust visor it just dropped tohang in front of the drivers face blocking visiondriver then forced to drive holding visor out way.

Wiper blades don't park themselves and sometimes stop in middle of wind shield andinhibit visibility.sometimes wipers will turn off once turned on. Have a mind of their own.

Takata recall was repaired 2017.paint peeling more than honda recall areas.honda refuses to repaint. 8/20179/2017 in motion : driver side sun visor is broken and drops down and blocks my view out of the front window.i can not afford to replace.

The driver side visor just broke for no good reason

The driver side sun visor split and now hangs down obstructing my view. This is a know issue with 2009 and earlier civics; however, my vin is not included in the extended warranty as a result of the class action suit.

The sun visors on the car are built poorly and the plastic will split, causing the sun visor to fail. After failure, the sun visor will not return to the folded position, obstructing the driver's view as it sticks out into the car, reducing visibility. Both american honda as well as local honda dealerships acknowledge this flaw in the vehicles but they are currently resisting my attempts to have my car's sun visors replaced for free due to design flaw. They claim that my car is out of warranty and that the lawsuit filed against american honda last year has an extended warranty but it does not cover my car's vin number. This problem needs to be fixed as it is reoccurring and potentially dangerous if the vehicle is in motion. Honda acknowledges that not all owners who have this issue report the problem and that it is widespread but no recall has been placed because they are often just fixed on a case by case problem but even replacements often fail as no change to the product's faulty design has been made.

Repeated frost inside back and front windshields after automobile has been wet and temperature drops to freezing.nothing has been done to correct failure. Been to dealership 4 times since 9/30/08. Dealer says it is due to cleaning supplies being left in trunk or difference in climate conditions. Dealer says nothing wrong with car.

Windshield on 2009 honda civic distorts vision of driver & passenger. Updated 04/12/10.

Clicking sound coming from front right wheel when turning right or left.

Rear wheel bearing needed replacing - passenger side. Now at 68,000 miles it needs to be replaced again.

I own a 2009 honda civic 4-dr sedan that has a problem with ice and snow accumulating on the wheel in as little as a 2 inch snowfall condition. This ice and snow accumulation causes the front wheels to be out-of-balance and result in vibrations that make the vehicle uncontrollable in speeds greater that 50 mph. I am the original owner of this vehicle that has 20,000 miles on it and have now used it during two winters. This is the second time i have had to pull the wheels off to remove the accumulated snow and ice from the inner walls of the wheel in order to drive it safely at speeds over 50 mph. I believe this is a safely issue with the wheel design for this vehicle. It only appears to affect the front wheel locations, not the rear wheels.

Problem: low and flat tires.i have to put air in the tires every week usually between 5-10 pounds. I have 21,000 miles now - at 10,000 i replaced two of the michelin tires with two goodyear and still having the same problem. My dealer says they don't cover tires - but they won't entertain the theory that maybe it is the wheels.

The contact owns a 2009 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the front driver's side tire deflated at random with the illumination of the tire pressure warning light. The warning light remained illuminated after the contact added air to the tire. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was diagnosed that the o-ring failure was causing air to leak out of the tire. The o-ring was replaced however, the tire pressure sensor light illuminated after the repair. The failure was recurring. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.
